Hockey Star Jack Hughes Responds to Backlash Over Trump Joke About Women’s Team

Thu, 02/26/2026 - 12:05pm

Olympic gold medalist Jack Hughes is finally addressing the backlash the U.S. Men's Hockey team is facing after they appeared to laugh at a jokePresident Donald Trump made about the women's team.

After the U.S. men won Olympic gold—with Hughes scoring the game-winning goal—the president jokingly told the team in a locker room phone call that he would be “impeached” if he didn’t also invite the gold-medal winning women’s team to White House festivities.

“We’ll just have some fun, we have medals for you guys. And we have to—I must tell you—we’re going to have to bring the women’s team, you do know that,” the president said as he and the team laughed. “I do believe I probably would be impeached [if I didn’t].”

The president also offered to coordinate military aircraft to fly the men’s team to Washington, D.C. for the State of the Union—which the majority of the team, including Hughes, ended up attending.

The women’s hockey team declined President Trump‘s invitation to attend the State of the Union, citing prior commitments.

In a post-game interview on Wednesday, Feb. 25, the New Jersey Devils star explained how the now-viral phone call came to be.

“You’re in the moment, the president calls,” Hughes told reporters. “We’re blaring the music and then they pause the music and then the president calls. I don’t think … obviously, it is what it is now.”

“We have so much respect for the women’s team. They have so much respect for us. We’re all just proud Americans. We’re happy that we both swept the Olympics," he continued.

“You’ve got to remember, we’re just hockey players,” Hughes also said on Wednesday night. “We did our job. We went over to the Olympics to win a gold medal and that’s what we did. I’ve had the best time of my life celebrating with my teammates that we accomplished our goal.”

He added, “I’m a hockey player. We’re so proud to be back in the U.S. and celebrating our gold medal and to do it with our teammates, that’s the best part.”

While appearing on ESPN’s SportsCenter on Feb. 25, Hilary Knight, the women’s team captain, also addressed the president’s comments for the first time, calling it a “distasteful joke.”

“I thought it was sort of a distasteful joke, and unfortunately that is overshadowing a lot of the success, the success of just women at the Olympics carrying for Team USA and having amazing gold medal feats,” Knight said.

“We’re just focusing on celebrating the women in our room, the extraordinary efforts, and continue to celebrate three gold medals in program history as well as the double gold for both men’s and women’s at the same time,” she continued. “And really not detract from that with a distasteful joke.”

Knight also said that she was looking forward to “celebrating all great things that have come out of the Olympics and feeling the love and support and getting back in our respective communities and sharing this journey with them. And that’s what this is all about.”

'The Young and Restless' Star Shares Health Diagnosis

Thu, 02/26/2026 - 11:50am

The Young and the Restless star Melissa Claire Egan has shared news of a recent health diagnosis in a post on social media.

Egan revealed that she was diagnosed earlier this year writing on Instagram, “I wanted to share that in late January I was diagnosed with Coronary heart disease.”

She reassured fans that her prognosis is positive, writing, “Thanks to early detection, and medicine, I will be okay!”

Egan said she chose to speak publicly about the diagnosis to raise awareness. “I’m a private person, but this seemed TOO IMPORTANT NOT TO SHARE. Especially for women.”

She explained that additional testing revealed plaque in a major artery. “My brilliant doctor of 20+ years @drthaisaliabadi sent me to a wonderful cardiologist @ghalichimd when some bloodwork came back high, and through a Heart calcium scan he found plaque in my LAD artery (known as the “widow maker”).”

She said the condition was caught early. “It’s mild so far and tends to be genetic, but rare for a 44 year old woman. This could have caused the plaque to chip off and cause a fatal heart attack or stroke any time over the next 5-10 years, maybe even sooner.”

Egan also reflected on the emotional impact of the diagnosis. “Later that night after I was diagnosed, I laid with my sons, putting them to bed, feeling so grateful to God and my doctors that I found this early.”

She said the experience motivated her to raise awareness. “But I couldn’t stop thinking about all the other women(and men) that might have this disease and not know it. It is under-tested and under-recognized.”

Egan encouraged others to prioritize heart health. “We all are so good about getting our mammograms every year, but we don’t check our heart health. It is imperative that you do! Cardiovascular disease is the Number 1 killer of women, causing 1 in 3 deaths each year.
Tell your doctor you want to be evaluated for coronary heart disease risk. A takeaway from my situation, for your blood tests ask your doctor to specifically look for Lipoprotein(a) and ApoB levels.”

She concluded by encouraging fans to stay proactive about their health. “Let’s all band together, focus on our heart health, and live longer!!!❤️”

Are Red Light Therapy Masks Worth It? My Honest Thoughts After Trying It for 30 Days

Thu, 02/26/2026 - 11:45am

With my 40th birthday mere months away, I decided it was time to get serious about skincare. Like most people, I want to age gracefully. I don’t mind the newly formed wrinkles around my eyes that are proof of decades of smiling, but I don’t exactly love the age spots that have formed in a few places on my face or the deep lines I’m getting on my forehead and around my mouth.

Fortunately, this is 2026, and there is no shortage of skincare products and treatments to help delay the natural aging process as much as human biology allows. But maintaining youthful-looking skin isn’t cheap. Getting treatments like microneedling and Botox a few times a year can easily cost thousands of dollars—and that’s on top of all the creams, serums and other skincare products used regularly.

In an effort to put off some of these expensive treatments, I decided to commit to wearing a red light therapy mask, which, at a couple of hundred dollars on average, isn’t pocket change but is a more manageable investment.

“A red light therapy mask is a wearable device that uses light-emitting diodes (LEDs) to deliver red and near-infrared wavelengths to the skin. These wavelengths penetrate the skin to support collagen production, reduce inflammation and aid in cellular repair, which can improve overall skin quality, tone and radiance over time,” explains Maegan Griffin, NP, a nurse practitioner and the founder and CEO of Skin Pharm, a chain of cosmetic dermatology clinic, a place where literally everyone who works there has the most beautiful skin I’ve ever seen.

NanoLeaf was generous enough to send me their LED Light Therapy Face Mask ($150) to try for this experiment. I decided to commit to wearing the mask three to four times a week for a month before deciding whether it was worth continuing.

How Do LED Red Light Therapy Masks Work?

According to a 2023 scientific study published in Photobiomodulation, Photomedicine, and Laser Surgery, photobiomodulation (a fancy word for a form of red light therapy) can reduce wrinkles by up to 30%.

“Red light therapy can support collagen production by stimulating fibroblasts in the skin. Over time, this can improve skin texture, firmness and the appearance of fine lines. The changes are subtle and cumulative, but meaningful when used consistently,” Griffin explains.

Related: The Super-Common Daily Dinner Habit That Could Be Secretly Aging Your Skin

There is early scientific evidence showing that beaming red light onto the skin reduces oxidative stress, lowers inflammation, supports DNA repair mechanisms and stimulates collagen production, which is what keeps skin looking plump and youthful.

Griffin says that red light therapy masks can help soften the appearance of existing wrinkles and also slow the development of new ones by improving overall skin quality. But she emphasizes that they’re not powerful enough to replace in-clinic treatments like neuromodulators, lasers, microneedling or biostimulators. “I view it as a maintenance tool: helpful for supporting results, but not delivering structural change on its own,” she tells Parade. She adds that masks are a tool and take time to work; they’re not an overnight fix.

Just like other beauty products and devices, Griffin stresses that not all red light therapy masks are worth shelling out for. When shopping for a red light therapy mask, she says to look for ones with FDA clearance, give full-face coverage and are comfortable. She also says to pay attention to the wavelengths it gives. “Red and near-infrared are key for collagen support. Blue light can be helpful for acne-prone skin,” she explains.

The Nanoleaf LED Light Therapy Mask has a range of wavelengths so it can be tailored to one’s skincare needs. Besides red light, it has five other wavelength colors too. Just like eating healthy and exercising, Griffin says that consistency matters if you really want to see a noticeable difference in your skin when using a red light therapy mask. She recommends wearing one for 10 to 20 minutes, three to five days a week.

My Experience Trying an LED Red Light Therapy Mask

After getting my mask in the mail, the first step was to charge it using the USB cable it came with. I spent some time reading the user manual about the benefits of the different wavelengths. For example, the mask’s green light setting helps even out skin tone and can tone down redness and hyperpigmentation, while the mask’s blue light is beneficial for reducing acne breakouts.

Even with the different options, I was still most interested in the red light. I wanted that collagen boost and to slow down the appearance of wrinkles. Now that I knew which wavelength I wanted to try and my mask was fully charged, I was ready to go.

The mask has Velcro straps and it fit comfortably around my head. There is a small remote attached to a wire on the mask, which is used to control the settings and set the time. You can choose how intense you want the light to be too.

I stuck with the default timer of 10 minutes. Then, the mask fired up, beaming its powerful red light all over my face. I went downstairs to watch TV with my husband. My cat took one look at me and was absolutely terrified, scurrying off the couch to hide. I think it scared my husband a little, too. After the 10 minutes were over, the lights shut off, and I took the mask off.

It may have looked goofy, but I appreciated that I could wear the mask while doing other things, like watching TV, scrolling on my phone or working at my computer. Besides, it was only 10 minutes. This made it easy to keep up with my goal of wearing it three to four times a week. I made a routine of wearing it after showering or washing my face at night. I figured it might work better if all I had on my face was a little moisturizer instead of a full face of makeup.

Maybe it was a placebo effect, but just two weeks into my red light therapy mask routine, I already saw a small, but noticeable difference in my skin; the age spots on my face looked slightly less visible. It was enough to motivate me to keep using the mask regularly the rest of the month.

Courtesy Emily Laurence

Now that it’s been a full month, the main difference I’ve noticed is still the age spots fading. I haven’t noticed my skin looking any less wrinkly, but I also don’t have very pronounced wrinkles (yet!). The difference in my skin is slight; I notice it, but I don’t think anyone else would. Still, I believe in the science behind red light therapy and that it’s working to slow how soon wrinkles will appear on my face.

I think Griffin is right in that an LED red light therapy mask can be a useful tool, but it’s likely not going to have the same impact of cosmetic dermatology treatments. But knowing the different options that exist to support my skin as I age makes turning 40 just a little less scary

Kyle Fraser Reveals He Argued with Jeff Probst After Devastating 'Survivor 50' Injury: 'I’ll Sign a Waiver!' (Exclusive)

Thu, 02/26/2026 - 11:34am

Survivor 50 is here! Every week, Parade.com's Mike Bloom will bring you interviews with the castaway most recently voted off the island.

Kyle Fraser stood on the bottom of a near-vertical wall on Day 3 of Survivor 50. But his position in terms of topography was far from a reflection of his position in the game. On paper, Kyle was coming into his second season with all eyes on him. At the time, the entire cast had seen him take home a million dollars just a couple of weeks prior. Not only that, but two of his closest allies, Kamilla Karthigesu and Joe Hunter, were also returning alongside him. It had all the makings of an open-and-shut-case for the lawyer to get taken out quickly, especially as the only winner on his tribe.

But, through the first four days of Survivor 50, Kyle was able to buck any expectations players or fans had of him going in. Looking to work with the "scary" players, he locked in with Genevieve Mushaluk, hoping the two lawyers could form quite a strategic firm. They then joined up with Stephenie LaGrossa Kendrick, Colby Donaldson and Q Burdette to form a majority. Indeed, when I got the chance to visit Vatu camp on Day 2, no matter who I observed talking, they all shared the same sentiment: "I got a good feeling about Kyle."

Which makes what happened on Day 3 all the more tragic. At the end of the first Immunity Challenge of the season, Colby had helped his entire tribe up the wall. But the former "Superman in a fat suit" was having trouble getting off the ground to get up there himself. Confident in his reach, Kyle decided to hop down and boost him up. It wound up being a game-changing decision.

During one run up the wall, Kyle tweaked what he believed was his ankle. Despite trying to shake it off, he was clearly hurt and limping, prompting Jeff Probst to stop the challenge to have medical attend to him. In the moment, they said he was good to continue and, showcasing how necessary he was to Vatu, Q was able to get him up the wall and win immunity. But while Kyle would avoid being the first boot of the season, another type of boot was coming his way. The next day, Medical took a more detailed examination of Kyle, discovering that he had actually ruptured his Achilles tendon. While the situation was not life-threatening, to avoid him sustaining any permanent damage to his leg, the show had made the decision to remove him. Vatu was distraught, in tears as the diagnosis was revealed. One thing was clear: Kyle was the heart of that tribe, and had possibly laid out the path to a second win.

Now out of the game, Kyle talks with Parade about everything that went down with his injury that we didn't see, how he helped Genevieve figure out who to use the "Billie Eilish Boomerang Idol on," and who would have been the first boot from Vatu if he stayed.

We need to start, obviously, with your injury. I was there at the time it happened, and the ironic part is, the reason you were in that situation is that Colby was actually struggling to get up the wall. So you jumped down to boost him up. When you made that wrong step on the wall, you were trying to push through it, but clearly in pain. Talk me through what was going through your head then.
I'll try to be succinct. You're right. Q ran up the wall on our tribe first, and then I ran up immediately after, got up myself, and we started pulling people up. And so that was one attempt. I went back down to get Colby. Colby did a ton of the heavy lifting getting the tribe up. So, I mean, he was gassed. So I was like, "Oh my gosh, I have to go back down and get him."

We get him back up there, and then it's my turn to go up. But it's covered in mud. So what you actually saw when I tore my Achilles was the second attempt that I tried to get up the wall. I actually didn't tear at that time. I got a ton of air, I came back down, and I had one more attempt that's not shown on camera. And on that third attempt, I actually put my foot into the wall. But I didn't feel it.

I was like, "Oh, I didn't get that much air." So I tried to turn around and keep going and to get one more running started. And I hear Q, go, "Kyle, I think you broke your foot." And I look and my foot's just hanging off to the right. And I almost crumbled. And it just felt weird. And so in my mind, I was thinking about the challenge. So I was like, "Something is wrong. But what are we going to do here?" You see me limp back towards the wall to try to figure out, tell somebody to come down. I'm gonna need some help. And then Jeff was just like, "You gotta stop." So I stopped.

So Dr. Joe gives you the all-clear in that moment. And Vatu ends up winning the challenge. But it's clear you're hurt, with Q even carrying you back on piggyback. So, without knowing it was your Achilles, did you have the feeling this would be something that could significantly affect your game?
Yeah, immediately after the challenge, Dr. Joe took another look, and he used the term "localized the pain." And they realized that it was more so in my Achilles area, not my ankle. It wasn't a bone issue, it was a tendon issue, a muscle issue. And when I heard the word "Achilles" going into the medical tent, it's before I get back to camp. And I couldn't walk in the sand. I tried. We're all washing the mud off. I was getting washed away in the ocean. [Laughs.] I tried to keep my cool, but all I could think about was staying in the game. So I was trying to project that I was okay as much as possible, not only to production, but to my tribemates. And that was really difficult for me to do. It's really painful. But I was optimistic that first day.

It wasn't until I woke up in the middle of the night that first night, and I was in a ton of pain, and it just hit me like a wave of reality. Like, "This could be something very serious in my game." For the first time, in the middle of the night when no one was awake, I thought outside of the game, I might not be here anymore. But then I kicked back in in the morning, and I started playing. I started talking to people. I kept those conversations going. I told them, "Hey, I'm going to do everything to stay here." My tribemates are like, "Bro, we're not voting you out." And you just have to convince yourself sometimes that it's going to be okay.

When Jeff tells you that they have to remove you from the game out of precaution for permanant damage, it does seem like you're doing everything to stay. So what was your reaction when you were officially told you would be removed?
Dr. Joe actually came into the camp earlier that day. He just did the ultrasound in the morning. He said, "We're gonna see how you move on it. We need to see what you look like, and maybe give it a little bit more time to heal." So again, I was trying my butt off to project to everyone, like, "I got this." So when you see me walking like a zombie, I was figuring out the mechanics and the best way to do it.

Jeff and I argued for I want to say 15 minutes when he came to camp. And not a blowout argument. But I was like, "Hey, man, I'm a lawyer. I'll sign a waiver." When he brought up, "We have legal duty," I was like, "Well, I'm a lawyer!" When we got into the irreparable harm sort of scenario, I brought up James. I said, "Listen, James got his torch stuffed. There's precedent here. That's a torn ACL; his tribe got to make that decision at the end of the day. I think my tribe should make the decision." Because I knew they wouldn't vote me out. [Laughs.] And it was a loving argument. Jeff really knew that I wanted to stay there. But ultimately, they made the right decision. Because this thing could have kept curling up, and it could have been even worse.

Well, let's get into some of these people who would not have sacrificed you like a James Clement. You told me your mother said to you before the season that Genevieve was the scariest player on Season 50. But you were very clear about wanting to work with the scary players. So talk to me about your relationship.
Genevieve was undoubtedly my number one. Colby and I actually had a conversation about strategy first, which shocked me. Colby was like, "Hey, what are you thinking?" And it shocked me. I tried to play cool at first. And I was like, "Let's see what's going on." He's like, "Brother, I want to run." And I was like, "Okay, in that case, Colby, I like you and Stephenie." Because I of course knew that he was going to be close to Stephenie just instinctively. And then also, me and Colby were working on the shelter. That whole Rizo thing, me and Colby were going to work, and were really bothered. [Laughs.] And I get along with Colby very well. And so I think that like that just formed organically.

But then I was like, "Okay, we need a fourth. I need to talk to Genevieve." And so I went up to Genevieve to try and talk, and she was like, "I want to work with you." And I was like, "Hell yeah, we don't even have to have this conversation. I'm going to put my eggs into this basket." Which is scary, but again, I've done that before.

So that foursome got formed very quickly. But me and Genevieve were at the heart of it. And the one thing that they didn't show is we really did try to put some distance between each other. I waited for Colby and Stephenie to say, "What do you think of Genevieve?" And I was like, "I'm a little wary. But if you guys think it's okay, then I'll think it's okay." And Genevieve did the exact same thing. And so we were at the heart of that four. But we were sort of working a little bit. People knew that we had a decent relationship, not outside of the game, in the game. But they didn't think that we were like this. [Crosses fingers.]

So did you help her make the decision with that "Billie Eilish Boomerang Idol"?
[Laughs.] When she opened that, I was like, "Oh, God, what is going on? This is awesome." I did. We walked through the options. Ozzy is somebody that we talked about. Savannah is somebody that I brought up. But I think the direction that we both sort of started moving into is they had her talk about Ozzy getting blindsided. But I think Genevieve would also tell you this. This was more so about relationship building. Thinking about, if you find this idol in your bag, and I'm X person, who's likely to be receptive to the fact that I told you that I sent it to you, right?

So you need to have two avenues. Somebody who maybe you can build an alliance with this thing. If you get a chance to meet them, at a swap or a merge, and they'll actually be receptive to that, not like a Cirie who's going to be like, "Oh, thank you for it," then vote you out. You need somebody like Ozzy who loves that type of stuff. And then also, if he gets voted out, then that's a bonus. But I think the bigger sort of thing here is trying to build alliances in a game that we know is going to be crazy.

What about Q? You told me in the preseason that you would consider him a Friend, but you were nervous about associating with him if he got too chaotic. What was your dynamic like?
Q and I bonded very quickly. We went out to get water and I dabbed him. I was like, "Hey, bro. We have to have this relationship." And he knew that too. And we clicked very, very well. And so when that happened, then I needed to organically move Q into this five. And I said, "Hey, talk to Genevieve and see what you think." He liked Genevieve. So we moved, we integrated Q into this group. Because Q was awesome on the island. He's a character on TV, but Q is an extremely intelligent, extremely charming person, and so it was great. He's a great shield to have in a lot of ways.

And I mean, him getting me up the wall, he helped me walk in a lot of ways. It was hard to walk on the sand. I could barely get to some places. And he was like a brother to me up there. We had some real deep conversations. And then Rizo started to integrate too. So then at one point, me, Genevieve and Rizo sort of were a three, and then we pulled Q into that. So Genevieve and I are now at the heart of this foursome with Stephanie and Colby, but also a foursome with Rizo and Q. And I felt as if that was going to be the story moving forward for us. Who do we go with? And what does that look like?

On that note, let's say Vatu did go to Tribal Council first. Who would have gone? I noticed you didn't mention Angelina or Aubry's names in those foursomes.
Angelina and Aubry we thought were a pair. They would go off a lot together. Colby and Angelina had a little bit of distance between them. And I thought Angelina was the best liar in the world. Because we would have these great conversations. But I was like, "She's clearly playing with Aubry."

And then one night, she kind of just let it loose. She was like, "I don't have anybody out here, Kyle. And I feel like I'm the closest to you." And I really, really like Angelina personally. But I was very strategically wary because of Aubrey, who I also really like as a person. So then Angelina and I basically became like number ones in a sense. I was closer with Genevieve, obviously, but Angelina was my person. So then me, Angelina and Aubry formed a threesome.

But I would say on the totem pole that threesome was the least in my strategy moving forward and my plan. I think Genevieve's plan was — I didn't even know about that conversation, really — but the plan would be to get Aubry out, but to tell Angelina at the last minute to sort of have a consensus boot. Especially after Genevieve found the Billie Eilish Boomerang idol. Because we thought Aubry had the idol, which was scaring us. But as soon as Genevieve found that, I was like, "Great, now we'll just sway the votes back to Aubry. We'll make sure that Angelina is comfortable with us still." And then you're thinking about, if a tribe swap happens, I need to be good with everybody on my beach. And so Aubry was the one person who I think we could have swayed that vote to, most likely.

What made you suspect Aubry had an idol?
Aubry was acting normal around camp. But one, that conversation with Genevieve put up a flag in Genevieve's head. Two, Aubry was throwing Genevieve's name around a little bit. And I think Aubry was the first person to throw names around. Three, you could tell Aubry was trying to play the game a little bit more open. I get along with Aubry very well, but her gameplay style this season was very sort of nonchalant, in a way that made me feel as if she was cooking up something all the time.

Like that conversation with Genevieve was honestly indicative of some of the conversations I had, but she wasn't as forthcoming with me about seeing me as a threat. I don't even know if she saw me as a threat. And so it just made me a little wary, and it felt like she had something else going on. She was the one person I didn't have a pulse on, and it's like I couldn't read what was going on. And then she would walk off with Angelina a fair amount. So I thought that maybe one of them found it.

Getting back to your injury, what was the recovery process like for you? Both physically and emotionally?
So I actuallyhad to fly back immediately. I didn't get the Ponderosa time, which was tough.

You've basically never been to Ponderosa between your two seasons!
I think I might have 48 hours at Ponderosa total, outside of pregame. But I flew back immediately. I landed back in New York, probably within 30 hours. And then I had to go to the doctor immediately that morning. They confirmed it was a torn Achilles. So I then got surgery as quickly as possible, which was, I think, three to four days later. And then I started the recovery process, which I'm still in.

I didn't walk for two months. Then you get out of a boot, and you're walking in a boot. It took me about three months to get into two shoes. I think I'm eight months in right now. I probably just started running about three to four weeks ago. I could have ran a little bit earlier, but my physical therapist didn't want to chance it. And it'll probably be another two months before I'm whole, which means athletic stuff, sprinting, jumping, doing these things. But at the same time, we go into physical therapy three four times a week. I've been learning a ton about myself, because it's an injury where you have to push yourself through a lot of pain every single day. It makes you very vulnerable. And I stayed in the gym. I'm the strongest I've ever been in my life, and I think I'm better for it in a lot of ways.

You were incredibly optimistic about year chances of a repeat win, despite everyone having seen your winning game a couple of weeks prior. And you definitely exceeded my expectations as how to well you were set up so early on. But how did your expectations compare with that reality?
I mean, it's funny. The one night that I was torn up about this was that night in Ponderosa. Because you have stories like Q comes back to camp and he tells us what goes on between Coach and Ozzy. And I'm like, "That is why I'm out here. I'm going to win this game, but I'm going to also be a part of experiences. I'm going to have my own moment with X player, Y player, Z player." And I think that hit me like a wave when I was in my Ponderosa room, like, "I'm going to miss out on that."

But you know what? My experience on that island for the four days I was there, I loved it. I loved it. I was competing. People had genuine love for me. I started off Season 48 in survival mode. I broke that jug. I was scared to death. I said, "I'm going to do anything it takes to win," and that's all I thought about night and day. And it's not that I wasn't thinking about that on 50. But I was letting myself be more of myself. And I think people saw me for who I am, and I haven't had that in the world that quickly ever. And so I mean, I'm a Survivor winner, I'm a Survivor loser, and I'm proud of both of those statements. Because both of my experiences have been life-changing in completely different ways.

Liza Minnelli Opens Up About Past Addiction Struggles in Emotional New Interview

Thu, 02/26/2026 - 11:34am

Like any celebrity whose career expands across several decades, Liza Minnelli has experienced her fair share of career highs and insurmountable lows. Above all else, the 79-ear-old Cabaret star struggled with a lengthy period of addiction, as detailed in her new memoir Kids, Wait Till You Hear This! (People magazine).

While 11 years sober today, Minnelli is able to recall her first brush with addiction at 23-years-old, when doctors prescribed her with Valium following the life-changing death of her mother Judy Garland on June 22, 1969.

As a result of the stress she felt caring for her family and planning her mother's funeral, Minnelli looked to Valium as a temporary source of relief that soon threatened to spiral out of control.

"What began as a one-day blessing soon turned into a habit, then a full-blown case of addiction in the years ahead," the actress writes in her book. "It was a final gift, a genetic inheritance from Mama I could not escape."

As Minnelli's celebrity status quickly ascended to the heights of the entertainment industry, Minnelli told People that she was quickly swept up in the glamor of the limelight, eventually triggering a reliance on illicit substances.

“What I did was, I was looking for something else that would make it more fun, that would make it better, and somebody said, ‘Try this,’" the 79-year-old said. "So I tried it, and everybody else around me was doing everything.”

"So trying to be with the crowd was important when you weren't pretty and your hair wasn't quite anything right," Minnelli explained about her drug use at the time. "I just felt so out of place...”

Fortunately, Minnelli was able to seek out help later on in life, allowing her to pursue a path to sobriety in more recent years.

"And if I fall down ... in other words, if I fell off the program ... I'd go right back in and fight again," Minnelli said of her struggles. "Don't give up. There's fun. There's good out there. "

On Thursday, Feb. 26, Spencer uploaded a series of new photos from Miami, Fla., where she and her co-anchor Sam Champion were "stranded" this week as a result of the snowstorms in the Northeast.

Sharing photos sitting poolside with Champion at Loews Miami Beach Hotel, Spencer wrote in her caption, "Finally coming out of the fog of grief and so grateful to my GMA family-making me feel warm and loved—even in 42 degrees temps in Florida."

"No one I would rather be stranded with than this guy," she said of Champion, while the photos showed the pair cozying up to one another while Spencer cuddled one of the viral orangutan plushies made famous by the internet star Punch the monkey.

"We huddled around the heat lamp, collaborated on making the show as fun and energetic as possible, and even took a page from Punch the monkey’s book-giving our 🦧 stuffie a squeeze when needed," Spencer continued. "The pictures tell the story."

Spencer, 56, ended her post by sending a sincere "Thank you" to her "GMA family," before concluding her caption with, "I love you. 💕"

The TV anchor shared the news of her mother's death via social media last week, posting a montage of family photos to Instagram on Tuesday, Feb. 17.

In her caption, she revealed that von Seelen died on Friday, Feb. 13, something that she "would have gotten a kick out of." Spencer also noted that her mom was "surrounded by her children and her beloved rescue dog to reunite with my Dad and our sister Pamela," when she died.

A cause of death was not shared, but von Seelen had previously gone through treatment for cancer after being diagnosed with a brain tumor, specifically glioblastoma, in 2023. She was 85 at the time of her death.

"We love you always and forever mom," Spencer added in her tribute post.

Lindsay Lohan Wonders Why No One ‘Protected’ Her More During Her Early Rise to Fame

Thu, 02/26/2026 - 11:30am

It’s hard to believe thatLindsay Lohan has been in the spotlight for 30 years.

In 1996, Lohan, 39, landed her first acting role on the soap opera Another World. Shortly thereafter, she was cast as the dual role of twins Hallie Parker and Annie James in Disney’s Parent Trap, and she’s been a household name ever since.

Though Lohan had been famous for years by the time she was a teenager, that didn’t make that time in her life any less “overwhelming and consuming,” she told Vogue Arabia in an interview published on Thursday, February 26, as the publication’s latest cover star.

Lohan reached new heights of stardom after starring as Cady Hearon in the 2004 film Mean Girls. She was just 17 years old at the time.

“I should have listened to my mom and dad and moved back to New York. But I was young and wanted to be in L.A. And I didn’t know. So yeah, while a lot of it was fun, it was hard when I was young. It was a double-edged sword. Now I look back and wonder, ‘Why didn’t anyone just go and take me out of there, protect me more?’ You don’t know how to do that yourself when you’re a teenager,” Lohan recalled.

After stepping away from the film industry, Lohan moved to London to do a play, and eventually settled in Dubai come 2014.

“I wasn’t having fun in the business anymore. I wasn’t finding roles I loved. It’s not a life I wanted to live, you know? It’s not a real life. It pushed me so far away that I moved to the other side of the world. And I’m so glad I followed my gut,” she explained.

Lohan has since returned to acting with films like Falling for Christmas (2022), Irish Wish (2024), Our Little Secret (2024), and the Freaky Fridaysequel, Freakier Friday (2025).

She is also a mother to sonLuai, whom she shares with her husband, Bader Shammas. The pair began dating in 2020 and got married in 2022.

’70s Rock Icon Who Died in 2017 Getting New Documentary ‘Music of My Soul’

Thu, 02/26/2026 - 11:28am

A new documentary exploring the life and legacy of Gregg Allman is officially headed to U.S. audiences, Variety reports.

Music of My Soul, a critically praised film chronicling the legendary Allman Brothers Band frontman and solo artist, has been acquired for North America by independent production and distribution company Subtext. The film is expected to be released this summer.

Allman, who died in 2017 at age 69 due to complications from liver cancer, remains one of the defining voices of Southern rock. The documentary offers a deeply personal portrait of the musician, drawing from previously uncirculated interviews and rare concert footage.

According to the announcement, the film “weaves an intimate portrait of Allman, candidly reflecting on the death of his brother and bandmate Duane, his battles with addiction, and the personal demons that shaped both his life and his music.”

Directed by Grammy- and Golden Globe-winning filmmaker James Keach—whose credits include the Johnny Cashbiopic Walk the Line and acclaimed music documentaries on Glen Campbell, David Crosby and Linda Ronstadt—the project brings significant pedigree behind the camera.

Producer Michael Lehman, who served as Allman’s longtime manager, called the film “profoundly meaningful,” adding, “Gregg’s music has outlived him and will bring joy to many generations in the future.”

The film also highlights the Allman Brothers Band’s rejection of racial divisions in the American South, emphasizing the group’s deep respect for Black musical traditions and collaborations at a time when integrated rock groups were rare.

Made in association with Rolling Stone Films, the documentary aims to capture what director Keach described as Allman’s “humanity,” including his close bond with his late brother Duane and his struggles with addiction.

“His soulful voice and brilliant songs reflect a life of redemption and hopefully will inspire all who witness his journey,” Keach said.

Subtext plans to release Music of My Soul this summer. An exact premiere date has not yet been announced.

A New Type of Margarita Is Hitting Shelves, and You Won't Believe What Comes In It

Thu, 02/26/2026 - 11:25am

A new take on the margarita is hitting shelves, but it's not exactly the drink you're used to. The difference? They don't contain a single drop of tequila. Introduced by Little Saints, these canned, nonalcoholic mocktails are margaritas infused with functional mushrooms, including reishi and lion's mane, in place of tequila.

A Margarita Powered by Functional Mushrooms View this post on Instagram

The brand says this is its first canned cocktail to feature all three of its signature functional ingredients: reishi mushroom, lion's mane mushroom, and damiana. According to Little Saints, reishi is intended to calm the nervous system and "take the edge off," while lion's mane supports clarity and focus to help you feel "present and in the moment." The brand says damiana extract delivers a "signature body feel." Together, the trio is designed to create what Little Saints calls a drinking experience that satisfies rather than simply substitutes.

Flavor-wise, the drink aims to stay close to margarita tradition. Tasting notes describe it as salt-kissed and bright with bitter orange and a fresh-lime finish. Like the rest of the Little Saints lineup, it contains zero sugar and just five calories per serving.

The Nonalcoholic Cocktail Trend Keeps Growing

The launch arrives as nonalcoholic beverages continue expanding well beyond basic mocktails. According to the IWSR, the leading global drinks data provider, the ready-to-drink NA beverage market is expected to grow by 20 percent by 2028 and be valued at nearly $5 billion. Additionally, functional ingredients—particularly mushrooms like reishi and lion's mane—have increasingly appeared in coffee, sparkling drinks, and canned cocktails marketed around calm or focus without alcohol.

Founded in 2021 by Megan Klein and featured on season 16 of Shark Tank, Little Saints focuses on nonalcoholic cocktails and spirits powered by functional mushrooms. The company reports it has sold more than five million beverages and is now available in over 1,000 stores nationwide, including Sprouts and select Whole Foods locations in California and Florida.

We Tried It

Jim Hoffman

To see how it stacks up, we cracked open a can and poured it over ice. The first impression? Not at all bad. The drink has a genuine cocktail taste with bright citrus and a clear margarita vibe. The lime notes come through cleanly, and the bitter orange gives it structure.

Reactions in the room were mixed. One taster immediately declared, "Blahhh!" while another gave it a skeptical look, took another sip and gave a thumbs-up. But that reaction seemed tied to expectations. If you're hoping for the sharp, unmistakable bite of tequila, this won't replicate that experience.

Taken on its own, though, it's a bright, citrus-forward drink with a genuine cocktail feel. It won't replicate tequila's sharp bite, but as a zero-sugar, five-calorie option, it works as a lighter alternative to mid-day cocktails on the summer patio. If you're open to something different, this mushroom-powered margarita delivers something unique.

Dolly Parton's Generosity Shines as Hospital Renamed in Her Honor

Thu, 02/26/2026 - 11:23am

"I am so excited to share that East Tennessee Children's Hospital is becoming... Guess what?" Dolly Parton teased fans in a Feb. 26 Instagram Reel. "Dolly Parton Children's Hospital. Yay!"

The news was celebrated by her fans, impressed at her continuous desire to step up and use her money and publicity to help others.

"Why doesn’t she just run the world?" commented one fan. "Imagine the amazing place it would be."

"Anyone else sob upon this news?" wrote another. "Well deserved honor."

View this post on Instagram

The Knoxville-based East Tennessee Children's Hospital first opened in 1937 as a not-for-profit pediatric hospital. Its "open-door" policy has meant that no child would be turned away, regardless of ability to pay, race, or religion. The hospital has 20 locations in Tennessee, Southeast Kentucky, and Southwest Virginia.

“This is more than a name change,” Matt Schaefer, President and CEO of Dolly Parton Children’s Hospital, said in a press release. “With Dolly’s support, we are strengthening our mission to deliver world-class pediatric care to families, ensuring every child who walks through our doors receives the treatment they deserve.”

"Together, we're committed to strengthening our relationship where world-class care and a caring heart go hand in hand, for children across East Tennessee and beyond," the 9 to 5 star continued in her video. "And I hope that you'll join me in supporting this work. I can't do it all myself! I'm going to need you. So when we come together for our children, there's no limit to what we can do."

Parton has always shown a dedication to children, starting with her Imagination Library. In 2018, she explained to NPR that she began the program because her "dad did not get a chance to go to school. And daddy couldn't read and write, and it was kind of crippling to him."

In the 30 years since she began the program in Sevier County, Tenn., it's expanded beyond the state's borders. Now, millions of children in the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and the Republic of Ireland also receive the free books.

"I think that if you can read, it gives you wings to fly," Dolly said. "Through books, you can see how other people live and what other things there are in the world and all the things that you might become."

'60s Music Legend's No. 1 Best-Selling Song of All Time Topped the Charts 60 Years Ago Today

Thu, 02/26/2026 - 11:18am

In early 1966, Nancy Sinatra stepped out from her famous father’s shadow in a big way.

On Feb. 26 of that year, the daughter of Frank Sinatra's bold, attitude-packed single "These Boots Are Made for Walkin’" climbed to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, where it stayed for a full week, cementing the songstress as a pop force in her own right. The track became both her personal best-selling song of all time and her signature hit, and remains one of the most recognizable songs of the 1960s.

Written and produced by Lee Hazlewood, the song was originally intended for a male singer before Hazlewood decided Sinatra’s cool, confident delivery would make it unforgettable. Released in late 1965, the single quickly gained momentum thanks to its distinctive bassline, sharp rhythm, and a now-iconic promotional video featuring Sinatra in mod-style go-go boots. It not only topped the U.S. charts but also reached No. 1 in the U.K. and several other countries.

Beyond its chart success, “These Boots Are Made for Walkin’” became a cultural milestone. Its assertive lyrics and swaggering tone resonated with the shifting attitudes of the mid-1960s, helping define the era’s pop sound and influencing generations of artists who followed. Decades later, the track still regularly appears in films, commercials, and playlists celebrating classic pop hits—proof that Sinatra’s chart-topping moment in 1966 never really walked away (pun intended).

Walking Out of Frank Sinatra's Shadow & Career Success

Nancy began her music career in the early 1960s, but her first releases struggled to gain traction as she worked to establish an identity separate from her legendary father. Initially marketed with a more traditional pop style, her early singles failed to chart significantly, and by the mid-1960s, her recording future was uncertain. Everything changed, though, when Hazlewood encouraged her to adopt a deeper vocal delivery and a more confident, contemporary image that better fit the evolving pop landscape at the time—and the shift paid off quickly.

The massive success of her No. 1 1966 track launched a string of hits, including “How Does That Grab You, Darlin’?” and her popular duets with Hazlewood like “Summer Wine.” With her distinctive style, fashion-forward image, and chart success, Nancy firmly stepped out of her father’s shadow and became one of the defining female pop voices of the decade.

4 Birth Months With Unshakeable Emotional Strength

Thu, 02/26/2026 - 11:11am

Everyone has emotions, but we all experience them differently. Unlike what many would believe, mastering this complex world isn’t about just overcoming difficulty and quickly forgetting about it all. Achieving emotional strength is about allowing oneself to surrender to truly feeling, processing, and, when ready, overcoming transformative life experiences. Those who can fully embrace the process are positively changed, achieving a deeper level of personal resilience. Read on to discover which four birth months stand out as the most likely to carry emotional strength, according to expert astrologers.

RELATED: 3 Birth Months With Unshakable Strength, Per Experts

Which Birth Months Have the Strongest Emotional Resilience?

While everyone can develop unshakeable emotional strength, those born in July, October, November, and January are cosmically coded to do so. Individuals born in these birth months showcase a specific set of characteristics, given to them from the zodiac signs ruling over those months. Each of these birth months, however, approaches emotions differently, thereby showcasing a specific type of emotional resilience.

READ: What People Misunderstand About You, Based on Birth Month

January - Emotional Strength: Composed, Rational Resilience

Capricorn is one of the most misunderstood zodiac signs, often labeled as cold. Traditionally known as the Sea-Goat, Capricorn’s myth unites the earth and water elements, adopting a grounded approach to emotions. When the Sea-Goat energy combines with Aquarian influence, the result is a birth month with the highest emotional resiliences of all.

The emotional strength of those born in January is characterized by composed, rational resilience. Individuals born in January rarely spiral—but that doesn’t mean they don’t feel. They can detach from the feeling itself to look for a solution that works for everyone involved. What sets those born in January apart from others is their emotional discipline and their commitment to always figuring things out, regardless of how emotionally charged a situation becomes.

RELATE?: These 3 Birth Months Carry Wise Auras, According to Astrologers

July - Emotional Strength: Protective Resilience

As the birth month that unites watery Cancer with fiery Leo, July babies are incredibly passionate about everything they are emotionally invested in. When they open their hearts to let someone in, they do it fully and for the long haul. They may cry and process emotional material behind closed doors, but when it’s time to face tough situations, they show unmatched bravery for both themselves and their loved ones.

The emotional strength of those born in July is characterized by protective resilience, which responds to a genuine sense of heartwarming compassion for themselves and others. This unshakeable emotional strength comes from their ability to see both sides of any story, the positive and the negative, as well as what hides beneath the surface, too. For this birth month, Leo energy accentuates the light, but Cancer energy shines a light on the shadow side of all things, people, and situations.

October - Emotional Strength: Composed Intensity

It’s no secret that Scorpio is one of the most emotional signs of the zodiac, as its element is water. This energy is about feeling deeply to transmute pain into power. This depth is often perceived by others as “too much” by those who aren’t able to fully understand it.  When paired with Libra’s diplomatic influence, those born in October can bring balance to Scorpio’s depth. The result is a type of emotional intensity that can feel the full spectrum of emotions, while acting on them diplomatically.

The emotional strength of those born in October can be understood as composed intensity. Whenever dealing with highly emotional scenarios, this birth month can go through emotional upheaval and come back wiser. October babies can translate deeply emotional material into logical, easy-to-understand statements and ideas, powerfully aligning the heart with the mind.

November - Emotional Strength: Regenerative Optimism

When it comes to emotional strength and resilience, one can say this is one of the luckiest birth months! Those born in November combine Scorpio’s penetrating ability to get to the matter of tough situations with the Archer’s philosophical approach to life. Deep but also optimistic, November babies don’t stay down for too long, taking every highly emotional situation as a learning opportunity for growth. In other words, they know how to go deep but also know when to pull themselves back up.

The emotional strength of those born in November can be understood as regenerative optimism. For these natives, life is truly full of light and shadow, creating a perfect symphony of rich experiences. For them, everything is happening as it should and for a deeper purpose than what meets the eye—every fall is an opportunity to experience yet another emotional reinvention.

This Iconic Grammy-Winning Duo Just Announced Their Final Album After 18 Years Away

Thu, 02/26/2026 - 11:08am

After nearly two decades away, Gnarls Barkley has reemerged with a surprise announcement that few fans saw coming.

The Grammy-winning duo of CeeLo Green and Danger Mouse is releasing its long-awaited third — and final — studio album, Atlanta, arriving Friday, March 6, alongside a new single under 10K Projects/Atlantic Records.

A New Gnarls Barkley Album Begins With 'Pictures'

The first taste of the upcoming project arrives in the form of “Pictures,” a reflective pop track rooted in memory and movement. “The song came from a childhood experience," Green said in a statement obtained by Billboard. “I had a middle school principal who, every Friday would tell me to go when I would get to school."

He continued: “Without fail. I was in 8th grade and I would leave school and ride the train alone from 8am until 2:30pm. The hook of the song is literally about being on the train. When you are in transit it’s like a motion picture passing you by…staring out the window of the MARTA train.”

“Nostalgic yet new, gave me good vibrations,” another said.

Hulu's 'Paradise' Streaming Series Likely to End After Release of Third Season

Thu, 02/26/2026 - 11:04am

As its second season officially gets underway, many fans are wondering what exactly the future holds for Hulu's increasingly popular thriller series, Paradise.

Despite its altogether warm reception from mass audiences and critics alike, however, Paradise's showrunners are adhering to a strict narrative schedule that isn't likely to be broken any time soon. What that means is, sadly, the series isn't likely to extend beyond a third season on Hulu.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Paradise's executive producer John Hoberg said that, even when considering the show's glowing response among mainstream viewers at home, the showrunners have a definitive ending in mind for Season 3, making a fourth season somewhat less than likely.

"We know what the end is, and it’s an end that would make it very difficult to make a season four come afterward," Hoberg told the publication.

Elsewhere in the interview, Hoberg confirmed that the series' creator, Dan Fogelman, had an unwavering three-season vision in mind for the total layout of Paradise's story.

"I was one of the people who was in [on the show] really early," Hoberg said. "It was me and [writer /co-executive producer] Scott Weinger with Dan [Fogelman] and Jess [Rosenthal, executive producer]. This was before we even gathered the [writers] room and Dan was trying to decide where it was going to go. That’s where we formulated the three-season idea and what those seasons would be."

While Hoberg was hesitant to share many details about the upcoming arrival of a third season, he did give some hints about audiences can expect from Paradise's prospective future.

"It is setting up that there are a lot of things going on in two different places," Hoberg said. "And if I were a viewer, I would wonder if those two different things might come together at some point."

Whole Foods Just Launched a Brand-New Affordable Haircare Line for Thin Hair—Here's My Honest Review

Thu, 02/26/2026 - 11:03am

Sometimes you need to grab hair care products at the grocery store, but it can be a bit of a gamble without a recommendation from your stylist or a product-savvy friend. Well, if you shop at Whole Foods and just noticed a bunch of new bright pink bottles in the personal care section, it's a brand new hair care line that launched this month. I've tested the full line and can give you the details you need to help determine if it's a good fit for you.

The new clean beauty line for hair by Be Care Love is called Believe, and is formulated for fine, thin and thinning hair using certified organic ingredients. It's vegan and sulfate-free, and the products are affordable with a price point ranging from $12-$13 per item.

Currently, Believe's "Speak Volumes" line includes a shampoo, conditioner, scalp serum, mousse and primer that is intended to volumize, hydrate, strengthen and encourage hair growth (so it's not intended for thick or coarse hair types).

All of the products feature a biotin complex (vitamin B7) to increase hair elasticity and strengthen hair follicles. The products also contain keratin peptides, and keratin has been shown to protect and strengthen hair and may reduce split ends. All the products also have caffeine, which can stimulate hair growth when applied three to four times a week to the scalp, studies show.

How I Tested

I used all five products in the line for three weeks. I wash my hair two to three times weekly, and sometimes blow-dry and sometimes air-dry my hair. I have fine, wavy hair and have noticed some loss of volume due to aging, but it's not dramatic. I used the scalp serum every other day, since there weren't specific instructions as to how often to use it.

I'll introduce the products, and then give my final review below.

My Review of Whole Foods' New 'Believe' Haircare Line

CSheila Baylis

Here are my honest thoughts about each of the five products in Believe's new "Speak Volumes" line at Whole Foods.

Believe's Speak Volumes Volumizing Shampoo, $11.99

The Volumizing Shampoo is meant to hydrate, strengthen, add body and stimulate hair growth.

The shampoo has a gel consistency and light floral scent. And although there are no sulfates, it has a nice lather as well. It doesn't weigh down or strip the hair, and it's formulated to be used daily for those who shampoo every day.

The conditioner consistency is light—not thick and creamy like many other conditioners—and I was concerned at first that it wouldn't detangle and smooth my hair. But, despite the more-liquid viscosity, it conditions and removes tangles well. It has a light scent similar to the shampoo.

This serum contains rosemary oil, rice protein peptides and argan oil as well as the biotin complex and caffeine ingredients that are in all of the products. You massage the serum into the scalp, focusing on areas where you want more hair growth.

I used it sparingly, but it's light and doesn't feel greasy.

Believe's Speak Volumes Volumizing & Thickening Mousse, $12.99

Sheila Baylis

The volumizing mousse is designed to add volume without stiffness and is suitable to use before air-drying or blow-drying. Since it's formulated for fine hair, it's lightweight when applied on towel-dried hair and will provide light hold to your style without being crunchy.

Believe's Spirit Lift Volumizing Blow Dry Primer, $12.99

Courtesy Sheila Baylis

This primer protects hair when applied prior to blow-drying and is meant to boost volume and strengthen the hair. It's made to control frizz without being sticky or weighing down fine hair.

It didn't provide as much frizz-control as similar sprays I've tried, but it made my hair soft and more manageable.

Final Takeaways Hair after using Believe Haircare Products

Sheila Baylis

This haircare line is in a word—light. Light texture, light fragrance, light hold, nothing heavy, creamy or sticky. For that reason, it's good for fine and thin hair. It won't weigh hair down or produce a heavy buildup over time.

The products add volume in the short term, but am not sure if they encourage hair growth in the long-term. Although studies have shown that caffeine can stimulate hair growth, I didn't notice new growth in the (relatively short) amount of time I used the products.

For a clean hair care line with active ingredients and cute packaging, Believe is affordable while still being good quality. I recommend it for those with fine or thin hair, and I especially liked the primer for pre- blow dry heat protection. Many hairstylists we interview recommend protecting the hair prior to heat styling, so if you haven't picked one up because of the hefty price tag they tend to have, this is a good one to try.

I also think the shampoo is an excellent choice for someone who washes their hair often, since it doesn't have sulfates that strip the hair, but still has a nice lather and adds volume. I plan to go back to my regular conditioner, since my waves tend to get frizzy without a formula specifically-intended to target frizz.

I wouldn't recommend this line for people with coarse or thick hair, but of course the line is not designed for those hair types.
