History isn’t meant to be liked. It’s something that we can learn from, and that’s the case when it comes to one particular novel, that isn’t quite a novel. A 1947 release has earned its place on the “Best Woman-Authored Books,” and it’s something everyone should read at least once.

The Diary of a Young Girl, which is better known as The Diary of Anne Frank, continues to astound. It’s a real story, although it leaves you wondering whether it is something that should have been shared or not.

Anne Frank didn’t write her diary with the intention of releasing it as a novel. This was her way to collect her feelings, as she dealt with the Nazi invasion and the need to hide. You’ve heard the story plenty of times. Anne, her family, and others were hidden away in an attic above her father’s business.

The entire story is told from Anne’s perspective. It’s a look into the life that she lived, and it’s important to remember that this isn’t necessarily a true account of the events. In fact, if you watched A Small Light then you’ll get to see the other side of the story — the one of the people who risked everything to hide Anne and her family.

So, while the diary reads as a novel, it was never meant to be one. It’s a story that you need to sit with for some time.

When Otto Frank survived the Holocaust and found out about his daughter’s diary, he wasn’t going to release it. Then when he did, he opted to keep out the parts that involved Anne’s most private parts, including discussions of same-sex attraction and menstruation.

In the end, those parts were put back in, but it does raise the question of whether this was the right thing to do. Anne likely never wanted her diary to be published to the world, despite her story being an important reminder of the horrors the Jewish people lived through. While it may be on the list of favorite books authored by women, it’s important to remember the heart of the story and the reason it was written in the first place.

Hallmark fan favorite Ashley Williams has stepped behind the camera to direct a new episode of the hit ABC show.

Williams directed The Rookie Season 8 Episode 815 titled “Survive the Streets," airing on Monday, April 13.

Taking to Instagram, she gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at her favorite moments from directing The Rookie.

She couldn’t share too much about the moments as she didn’t want to give away any spoilers. However, that didn’t stop her from giving fans a sneak peek at Williams in her new role.

There are several shots of Williams directing The Rookie stars, including Melissa O'Neil (Lucy), Nathan Fillion (Nolan), Eric Winter (Bradford), and Lisseth Chavez (Celina), as well as some crew moments from her time as director.

In the caption, Williams listed out what each photo meant to her.

This isn’t the first time that Williams has taken on the role of Director on The Rookie.

In April 2025, Williams directed The Rookie Season 7, Episode 15, “A Deadly Secret.” The actress has been part of the Scripted Director program within Disney Entertainment Television for the past couple of years as she takes her career in a new direction.

Williams has added director to her talented resume, which also includes acting, writing, and producing. Despite working on her director skills, Williams isn’t leaving acting behind. She has a movie, Nothing But Love, coming out on Hallmark in 2026.

The Rookie airs Mondays at 10/9c on ABC.

Each card typically features a specific aircraft on the front and details on the back. That might include wingspan, cruising speed, range, or passenger capacity. They are standardized to the same size as traditional trading cards and are designed to be collected, traded, and sometimes even signed by pilots.

The concept itself dates back to the 1990s, when airlines like Northwest Airlines began experimenting with aircraft cards handed out by pilots. From there, the idea evolved organically. In the early 2000s, a United Airlines pilot named Denny Flanagan famously expanded the concept, printing cards for the aircraft he flew and eventually helping distribute more than a million across the airline.

But it was Delta Air Lines that turned the idea into something bigger. Beginning around 2003, Delta built a structured program around these cards, initially keeping them low-profile and pilot-exclusive. “This simple, yet impactful interaction… has created meaningful connections and memorable moments,” says Ryan Gumm, Senior Vice President of Flight Operations at Delta Air Lines.

Delta Air Lines is widely considered the gold standard. Its program spans decades, with multiple card series and millions of cards distributed. As reported by Delta News Hub, Delta produced over 5 million cards for a recent series alone to meet growing demand.

Alaska Airlines has also become a standout, especially with newer designs that include holographic and premium finishes aimed at collectors. According to the Autopian, United Airlines continues to distribute cards through pilots, maintaining a tradition that dates back more than two decades. Other carriers, including Southwest Airlines, JetBlue, Hawaiian Airlines, and WestJet, have also participated in various forms, as per the Autopian.

A viral TikTok video in 2023 revealed Delta’s cards to millions of viewers, and demand surged almost overnight. Pilots reported a dramatic increase in passengers asking for them, turning a quiet tradition into a widely recognized phenomenon.

Modern travel can feel stripped down to efficiency, relying on boarding groups, app notifications, and tight connections. These cards interrupt that strict rhythm. They invite conversation and reward curiosity.

Here are some tips if you want to start your collection:

John Mellencampis performing his greatest hits this year. That means he's been reflecting on his music and finding new ways to share it. Mellencamp, 74, is releasing a lyric book and reunited with a previous collaborator to start it.

John Mellencamp: The Songbook: 50 Years of Song and Poetry will include unpublished photographs, handwritten early drafts, and lyrics. PEOPLE reports it will be released on September 26 through Rizzoli New York.

Stephen King wrote the story of the musical, Ghost Brothers of Darkland County, which premiered in 2012. Mellencamp and T Bone Burnett wrote music to match the story of two warring brothers spending time in a haunted cabin together. Now King is writing the forward to Mellencamp's book.

The musical's story was reportedly inspired by Mellencamp buying a vacation home where two brothers and a woman once died, according to NPR. He asked King to help him develop the Southern gothic story.

Fans can order the book on Mellencamp's website for $249.99. A portion of April presales will go to Farm Aid to benefit American family farmers. "We help farmers find the resources they need to access new markets, transition to more sustainable and profitable farming practices, and survive natural disasters," reads the website.

"We're working to train, support and recruit a new generation of Farm Advocates in service to America’s family farmers," it claims. Willie Nelson, Neil Young and Mellencamp first organized Farm Aid with a benefit concert in 1985. Dave Matthewsand Nathaniel Rateliff later joined.

Mellencamp's 2026 tour continues to go strong into the summer. His last date on his website is August 12 in California.

A Sister Wives star has taken to social media to share the complications growing up in polygamy has had on their own motherhood journey.

Mykelti Brown Padrontook to Instagram to share a video where she revealed that while there were some upsides to having multiple mothers, there were many downsides as well. She captioned the clip, "Growing up in polygamy complicates not just your childhood but also motherhood."

Padron explained, "Friendly reminder from a new mom who had five different women show her what motherhood looked like and still felt completely unprepared. If you feel lost trying to figure out your own parenting style, that makes sense."

 “In a plural family, you don’t really get one parenting model. You’re just absorbing five different ones.” Padron noted her own mother-in-law as one of those models, along with her biological mom Christine Brown Woolley and spiritual mothers Janelle, Meri, and Robyn Brown.

Talking Heads is stepping into the spotlight following a special surprise for fans.

Despite disbanding in the early ’90s and reuniting only briefly after over a decade, the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer is taking the center stage again, but in a whole new way.

In an Instagram update shared by Goldmine Magazine, a publication for music collectors, Talking Heads was featured on its Winter 2026 issue.

The magazine showcases an exclusive collection featuring hand-signed Jerry Harrison photos, photo prints and more.

The limited-edition bundles also highlight the key moments in the band’s music legacy, including the 40th anniversary of “Stop Making Sense” and renewed appearances from all four original members, including David Byrne on lead vocals and guitar, Tina Weymouth on bass and backing vocals, Chris Frantz on drums and Jerry Harrison on keyboards and guitar in recent years.

Adding to the exciting inclusion of the special collection was “Tentative Decisions: Demos & Live,” a comprehensive archival release capturing the band’s early years.

As mentioned, the rock band has launched major archival projects and expanded editions as part of their 50th anniversary celebrations.

Although they didn't stage a reunion concert or special performances, Talking Heads released a new music video for their signature hit “Psycho Killer.”

Premiered on June 5, 2025, and directed by Mike Mills, starring actress Saoirse Ronan, it was their first-ever official music video after initially releasing it in 1977 as a single from their debut studio album Talking Heads: 77.

On the other hand, longtime member David Byrne is actively touring as a solo artist this year.

Who Is The Sky? The World Tourkicked off in Australia in January, followed by Europe and the U.K. Leg 1 ran from February to March.

Up next was the North American Spring Leg starting this April till May and will be returning to Europe, headlining various Summer Festival Circuit from June to July.

On this day in 1965, The Beatles stepped into the studio to record "Help!"—which would go on to become one of their most iconic tracks. At the time, the band was riding an unprecedented wave of global fame. Beatlemania had swept across continents, and their schedules were relentless. To fans, "Help!" sounded like another catchy, upbeat anthem. But beneath its bright tempo and singalong chorus, something far more personal was unfolding.

Shortly after releasing "Help!" as a single on July 19, 1965, the film Help! (starring The Beatles) premiered on July 29, 1965, in London. The film Help! is a colorful comedy directed by Richard Lester. It follows Ringo Starr as he's pursued by a bizarre cult trying to reclaim a sacrificial ring stuck on his finger.

By August, The Beatles dropped Help! as a studio album. It includes the title track "Help!" along with other major songs like "Ticket to Ride" and "Yesterday."

Years later, in a 1980 interview with Playboy, conducted by David Sheff, John Lennon confirmed that "Help!" was a genuine "cry for help." He explained that the immense pressure of Beatlemania had left him depressed and insecure, describing it as his "fat Elvis" period.

"When 'Help' came out in '65, I was actually crying out for help," he said. "Most people think it's just a fast rock 'n roll song. I didn't realize it at the time; I just wrote the song because I was commissioned to write it for the movie. But later, I knew I really was crying out for help. You see the movie: He (I) is very fat, very insecure, and he's completely lost himself. And I am singing about when I was so much younger and all the rest, looking back at how easy it was. Now I may be very positive... Yes, yes... But I also go through deep depressions where I would like to jump out the window, you know."

He added that his depressive episodes became easier to deal with as he got older, but he still felt "fat and depressed" and was "crying out for help."

Lennon was overwhelmed, struggling with fame, and quietly battling insecurity and isolation. The lyrics, especially lines like "Help me if you can, I'm feeling down," were not crafted for effect. They were a direct expression of vulnerability.

"The Beatles thing had just gone beyond comprehension," he continued in the Playboy interview. "We were smoking marijuana for breakfast. We were well into marijuana, and nobody could communicate with us, because we were just all glazed eyes, giggling all the time. In our own world. That was the song, 'Help!' I think everything that comes out of a song ... shows something about yourself."

"Help!" hinted at the deeper introspection that would define a lot of The Beatles' work. It showed that, even at the height of success, the pressures of fame could weigh heavily—and that Lennon, in particular, was channeling those feelings into his songwriting.

Despite its cultural impact, "Help!" never won any major awards. Still, its commercial success spoke volumes, as it topped charts in both the US and UK for weeks after its release. On April 13, 2001, a romantic comedy about a single British woman with a wine habit and a diary hit theaters in the U.S. and the U.K. simultaneously. Twenty-five years later, Bridget Jones's Diary has grossed $282 million worldwide, spawned three sequels, and turned its lead character into a certified British cultural icon.

The film starred Renée Zellweger as Bridget Jones, a 32-year-old London publishing assistant who spends a year keeping a diary, making questionable romantic decisions, and choosing between two very different men played by Colin Firth and Hugh Grant. Sharon Maguire directed from a script by Richard Curtis, Andrew Davies, and novelist Helen Fielding, who based the story on her own 1996 bestseller, which was itself a loose retelling of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice.

The role almost went to someone else entirely. Toni Collette was originally cast but turned it down for a Broadway play, and when Zellweger, an American from Katy, Texas, was announced as her replacement, the British press had opinions. She gained weight for the role, worked undercover at a London publishing house to get the rhythm of British office life, and spent weeks with a dialect coach trying to land the accent. Grant recalled in the documentary Becoming Bridget Jones that her first attempt sounded like "Princess Margaret," and her second was "Princess Margaret having a stroke." But she nailed it fast — Grant said it was "bang on" within a week. The performance earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress.

The casting of Firth as Mark Darcy wasn't random, either. He'd already played Mr. Darcy in the wildly popular 1995 BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, and Bridget Jones was basically asking him to do it again in a modern suit. The publishing house where Bridget works is even called Pemberley Press, a nod to Darcy's estate in the Austen novel. Grant played against his usual romantic lead type as the charming but deeply unfaithful Daniel Cleaver, and their fistfight in a London restaurant still lives rent-free in just about every rom-com fan's memory.

Zellweger has since won two Oscars, for Cold Mountain (2003) and Judy (2019). Firth took home Best Actor for The King's Speech in 2011 and is set to appear in Steven Spielberg's Disclosure Day this June. Grant has pivoted into character work, including the villain in Paddington 2 and a lead in Heretic. 

As for the franchise itself, it's still going strong. The fourth film, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, hit theaters internationally last February, earned an 89% on Rotten Tomatoes, and crossed $100 million at the box office without a single U.S. theater screening. All three original leads returned.

And the anniversary is getting its own moment. U.K. cinemas including ODEON are bringing the original film back to theaters later this week for a 25th anniversary re-release.

General Hospital star Nathan Dean is reflecting on one of his earliest interactions with his on-screen father Anthony Geary who played the iconic Luke Spencer.

Dean appeared on Maurice Bernard’s podcast State of Mind, where he discussed his journey from Australia to Texas, as well as his mental health struggles over the years.

During the conversation, Dean recalled his first day on set alongside Geary. “Back when I was 19, I remember walking on set for my very first day,” Dean began,

He explained that production asked him to learn some “cool bartender tricks” for the role. “I was kind of like, ‘I mean, I guess I can learn,’” Dean said. “So I went online and looked up how to throw a glass over my shoulder.”

The attempt quickly went wrong when it came time to film. “On my very first take, on my very first day, in my very first scene. I grab this little like mixer bottle and I try to toss it over my shoulder because I think it'll look cool,” he recalled. “The top wasn't screwed on all the way, so the entire bottle of orange juice, or whatever it was, splashed all over what was the Haunted Star.”

Dean admitted he feared the worst after the mishap. He recalled looking at stage manager Crystal Craft and asking if he had been fired. Instead, Geary stepped in to reassure him. “Tony pulled me aside and he was like ‘That was hilarious, just do it again. The worst thing they can ever say to you is ‘No, don't do that,’” Dean shared.

Dean said the moment turned into a valuable lesson early in his career. He also revealed that he and Geary eventually formed a close bond. “It turns out we were incredibly similar people,” he said. “We just kind of thought and functioned the same way.”

Dean appeared on General Hospital from 2009 to 2012, with additional appearances in later years. News of another upcoming appearance has recently surfaced.

Walker Scobell, the star of Disney+’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians TV series, is skipping prom due to teenage girls in his area receiving death threats.

“Please stop sending death threats to EVERY teenage girl who could remotely be associated with me based on their proximity to where I live,” Scobell said in an Instagram story on Sunday night. “It’s not fair to them or to their families. Maybe also just stop sending death threats in general. That’s just not cool. Kinda weird I have to say this.”

When Variety broke the story, fans quickly took to their Instagram comments section to show support for Scobell.

“That is absolutely crazy,” one fan commented. “prom is so important to so many teenagers and it’s something you can never replicate later in life. i feel so bad for him, he’s still a kid. let him do something normal like go to prom.”

Another fan expressed that those sending threats need to be held accountable.

“Lowest of the low,” the fan commented. “If anyone knows who the people sending these threats are, please report them to police! They should have to face the consequences of their actions.”

One user pleaded for people to leave Scobell alone.

“He’s a human being and deserves to have a life outside of playing Percy Jackson,” they commented.

The full details of the threats have not yet been confirmed.

Scobell stars in Percy Jackson and the Olympians, which was released in December 2023. Starring alongside Leah Jeffries as Annabeth Chase and Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood, the show is based on the book series by Rick Riordan. As Percy Jackson (played by Scobell) discovers that he is the son of Zeus, he goes on an adventure with his friends to restore Olympus.

The beloved ’80s music legend, 64, who skyrocketed to the top of the charts back in the day with hit songs like “I’ll Tumble For Ya” and “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me,” looked better than ever as he walked the red carpet in an oversized black hat and black coat. In the 2025 documentary Boy George & Culture Club, the band opens up about their rise to superstardom, including how the song “Karma Chameleon” ultimately became so successful that it contributed to their downfall. The song was unlike the other tunes on their biggest album, 1983’s Colour by Numbers.

“We could have put out a fart in a bottle in [1983], it would’ve been No. 1, and that was it,” guitarist Roy Hay told PEOPLE at the film’s premiere. “No, I’m kidding. Here’s the thing: It’s become a very iconic song, and when we close our concerts with it, and have people singing it back, it’s amazing. But if you put it up against the rest of our catalog, it doesn’t stand up as a song. But it’s a great record.”

Last August, Boy George got very candid about how he feels about singing “Karma Chameleon.” Apple TV+ chose the song for George to sing during the streamer’s competition show, KPOPPED.

“I wasn’t exactly excited by doing ‘Karma Chameleon.’ It was just, ‘Oh f— off, that again.’ I’m being honest. That’s the truth,” he told the New York Post. “I was like, ‘What the f – – k?’ And in fact, the first phone call that we had with Apple, I went off. I was like, ‘I’m not doing this.'”

The music legend got quite graphic when he continued, saying, “You can imagine singing ‘Karma Chameleon,’ for me. It’s like f—— diarrhea through a wet sock. It’s about as exciting as nothing I can explain.”

However, George came around to the idea when he realized he’d like to head to Asia.

“I was like, ‘You know what? I quite fancy going to South Korea,” he recalled. “It doesn’t really matter what I’m doing.”

"Our fans made it clear just how much they missed that crisp, refreshing apple flavor, so bringing it back was an easy decision. We’re excited to give them another chance to enjoy the Busch Light Apple they’ve been asking for."

If Busch Light Apple is completely new to you, all you need to know is that it's described as "a refreshing-to-the-core light lager with a crisp apple flavor, offering a touch of sweetness on the front end and a clean, smooth beer finish on the back end." It's brewed with a 4.1 percent alcohol by volume (ABV), so it's not as intense as some other options on the market.

Since the limited-edition lager's initial debut in 2020, fans have rallied for it. Last year, 1.2 million cases were sold in the first month alone, according todata reviewed by Anhueser-Busch, and it was named the #1 LTO Innovation of 2025. The company also said the return of Busch Light Apple helped expand the beer category last year and make it more approachable, with "27 percent of sales coming from shoppers new to the category."

Sunriseon the Reaping is the latest installment in the ever-growing Hunger Games franchise. The dystopian nightmare came to theaters in 2012.

Author Suzanne Collins then surprised fans of the franchise with the release of the book The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, which was published in 2020. That movie followed in 2023.

Now, Sunrise on the Reaping, the book for which was published in 2025, will hit theaters on November 20, 2026. This new story centers on Haymitch Abernathy, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark's mentor from the original Hunger Games trilogy of books. He, like Katniss and Peeta will be many years later, will be 'playing' in the games. As the books revealed—and as is expected in this franchise—this movie is about to be absolutely gutting. However, this new trailer makes it clear that it will also be yet another excellent addition to the beloved franchise.

The Pitt star Taylor Dearden is looking lovely when she ditches those hospital scrubs.

Dearden, 33, who got her start with a role on her father Bryan Cranston's most famous series, Breaking Bad, went on to appear on the MTV series Sweet/Vicious and the Netflix series American Vandal. But it’s her role as the sweet second-year resident Dr. Melissa King, opposite Noah Wyle on TV’s hottest medical series, The Pitt, that has kicked Dearden’s star power into high gear. While we're used to seeing her in navy blue hospital scrubs on the series, the beauty got to have a little more fun with her wardrobe for a screening of HBO's hit series at PaleyFest LA at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. In a revealing new interview, Dearden opened up about the potential for her character to have a romantic storyline in the future.

“The truth is I don’t know…. We have to keep some stuff open because we don’t know where the writers want to take the story,” Dearden told Glamour in a new interview. “What I’ve envisioned may not be the direction they want to go.”

Dearden also said that she doesn’t really inject much romance into Dearden’s life.

“But for me, I always saw Mel as someone who is not romantic — as actually genuinely asexual — and friendship is the most important thing for her. That flirtation, romance, that aspect is not really a part of her, but it’s also hard to make that decision without consulting the writers and seeing what direction they want to go in,” she noted, adding that’s “how I’ve always envisioned Mel and how I’ve played her.”

Dearden added that she’s willing to adapt if need be.

“Hopefully loose enough that I can change course if need be,” she said. “I think everything for Mel is connection to people and being friends and having true companionship, which I don’t think needs to be romantic.”

Dearden’s Pitt character, Dr. Mel King, is a fan favorite on the series. Like her character, Dearden is also neurodivergent. However, unlike Dearden, King has not yet been diagnosed.

On a panel back in December, Dearden explained that her character on the show has not been diagnosed with ADHD. Dearden thinks the doctor has likely been affected by her sister having autism. 

“If you have a sibling who’s more severely on a spectrum, the parents often don’t even notice that their other child is,” Dearden said, PEOPLE reported. “That’s kind of always how I saw it. With a lot of Mel, it’s just kind of unmasking and seeing what that looks like, and then also being like, ‘Wow, I’m kind of glad I mask sometimes.’ “

Dearden has opened up about her lifelong journey through ADHD and how she’s taking that into play when it comes to navigating the experience of her character. In speaking about her character’s experience, Dearden hasn’t shied away from opening up about her own ADHD journey. She recently spoke with Harper’s Bazaar and shared how she came to learn she had ADHD.

“I was really young. My second-grade teacher said to my parents, ‘She can’t finish a test. Something’s up here.’ Usually, girls get diagnosed with ADHD later in life, but luckily, I was a little hyperactive. Because of that, I presented more like a boy, and I was able to get diagnosed earlier,” Dearden shared, noting that a significant amount of progress has been made in the study of ADHD even in the last five years.

In the PEOPLE piece, Dearden noted that one of her tips for dealing with some of her challenges is giving herself advice.

“I’m on the ADHD spectrum so I gave myself advice in the mirror,” she noted.
