47 years after its final episode aired, the former CBS soap opera Love of Life appears to have been granted a second life on the internet, this time not as a television series but as a scripted audio drama.

The former CBS soap opera is being retooled and rebooted this time for the digital age as a scripted podcast. Daytime Confidential first broke the news of the revival.

The original series began on September 24, 1951, as a 15-minute daily drama. The series expanded to 30 minutes in 1958.

The series was originally owned by American Home Products and created by Roy Winsor, who also created popular long-running serials Search for Tomorrow and The Secret Storm.

The upcoming podcast revival will be penned by Casey Hutchison and Erik Andrus, with consulting from Paul Sladkus, who served as an associate producer on the television series.

Daytime Confidential reports that the series is set to honor the history and legacy of the established characters while introducing fans to new ones, with production expected to begin in March of next year.

The original series actually ended on a cliffhanger, when Betsy Crawford (Margo McKenna) collapsed after testifying in a trial. The final shot of the series saw longtime director Larry Auerbach walking through the set while Tony Bennett’s ” We’ll Be Together Again played in the background.

Recently, Michael Poirier of We Love Soaps found the resurfaced outlines for what would have happened had the series continued, with fellow historian Mark Faulkner, at the American Heritage Center at the University of Wyoming.

The outline revealed that Betsy was fine and had collapsed from exhaustion.

Back when the show originally wrapped, Sladkus mentioned having plans for the series for the following six months. Fans will have to wait and see if the revival touches upon any of these abandoned storylines when the series returns next year.

When Danny Bonaduce was a star on The Partridge Family, he became friendly with Shirley Jones, the Oscar-winning actress who played his mom on the TV sitcom.

Off camera, Bonaduce would even spend time at Jones’ house when she was married to actor Jack Cassidy. Not only was Cassidy Jones’ husband, but he was also the real-life father of fellow Partridge Family star David Cassidy.

During a Sept. 2 appearance on The Scott Baio Podcast, Bonaduce, 67,  recalled that it was “beautiful” to work with Jones, and that he would sometimes spend weekends at her house in Beverly Hills, hanging out with her son, Shaun Cassidy. He also noted that the Cassidy patriarch was “old Hollywood.”

“When you walk [into their house], first thing happens, you knock on the door in Beverly Hills, the door opens, and it’s Jack Cassidy,” Bonaduce recalled. “He would answer the door in a red velvet smoking jacket. With a martini and a cigarette in a holder.”

Years later, Bonaduce assumed he had an incorrect recollection of his entrance into the Jones/Cassidy house.

“I told the story and I said to Shirley, I said, you know, ‘That’s a child’s memory,’” Bonaduce shared. “She said, ‘No, that’s exactly how he would answer the door.’”

On the podcast, Bonaduce also noted that Jones’ Academy Award, for her role in the 1960 movie Elmer Gantry, was in full view on arrival at the Cassidy abode.

“When I go to her house, you open the door. Here’s Jack Cassidy. Over his shoulder is her Academy Award,” he said. “There’s no missing who lives there.”

Still, Bonaduce described Cassidy, a Tony Award-winning actor and singer, as a true star in his own right.

“He was a movie star all the time,” Bonaduce said. “I’ll tell you, so, I’m with Shaun and they’re putting in a pool, and they’re going to have it surrounded by big rocks. And [Cassidy], he says, ‘I’ll give you and Shaun 10 dollars to move those rocks from there to there.’ And we said, ‘Okay, 10 dollars.’ And Shaun and I spent the afternoon moving these, you know…big rocks from one spot to another. And we’re done, and Shaun and I go, ‘Where’s our money?’ And he goes, ‘I said to move them over there’ [points to the other direction] and didn’t pay us.”

Jones’ marriage to Cassidy ended in 1975, not long after The Partridge Family ended. The 49-year-old actor died tragically the following year in a fire in his West Hollywood apartment. Jones married comedian Marty Ingels in 1977.

Jones once told ABC News that her career success wasn’t easy for Cassidy to accept.

“I mean, he was my knight in shining armor, he was the love of my life,” she shared. “I was the breadwinner in the family, and it was very difficult for him.”

“Had Jack not died – he was 49 years old when he died in a fire – I don’t know if I would’ve married Marty,” Jones added. “I don’t know.”

Sixty-seven years ago today, a New York radio station pulled “Mack the Knife” off the air.

The lyric was the problem. The song came out of the theater. Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht wrote it for their 1928 musical The Threepenny Opera, where it works as a moritat, a murder ballad sung aloud to a crowd about a killer named Macheath. After a run of stabbings in the city that summer, the station banned every recording of it. Not only Bobby Darin‘s. All of them.

It was not the last time radio would do that to a hit, as Foreigner and the Police both found out twenty years later.

Darin picked it up from a 1958 production of The Threepenny Opera in Greenwich Village and worked it into his nightclub act. He kept the menace in the words and put a finger-snapping big band behind them. That mismatch is the whole record. It is also why a German stage number about a murderer, written three decades earlier, went to No. 1 in both the U.S. and the U.K.

The ban did not slow it down. If anything it did what radio bans usually do and sent people looking for the record. On Nov. 29, 1959, at the second Grammy Awards, “Mack the Knife” took Record of the Year. Darin won Best New Artist the same night. He was 23.

In 2015 the Library of Congress added Darin’s single to the National Recording Registry, its permanent list of recordings judged culturally or historically significant. Louis Armstrong‘s 1956 version of the same song went in that year too.

A New York station spent one September deciding the song was too violent to play. The Library of Congress now preserves two recordings of it.

When you think of Matt Damon, there are a few movies that will come to mind. Some will immediately think of Saving Private Ryan and others will think of the Jason Bourne franchise or The Martian. However, in 1997, it was all about Good Will Hunting — a movie that had a limited release on Dec. 5, 1997 before getting a wide release the following month.

The movie is ranked among the best movies ever, with Rotten Tomatoes placing it in the No. 133 spot. Meanwhile, IMDb has it ranked much higher, at No. 75. With its 97% Rotten Tomatoes rating, it deserves a strong spot.

It’s a movie that means the world to many people, especially fans of Robin Williams. In fact, this film has one of its best improvised moments at the very end, where the late icon said, “Son of a bitch, he stole my line.”

That wasn’t scripted at all. In fact, Williams was supposed to read the note left by Damon’s Will and just look in the distance in silence. After eight takes where he couldn’t quite get it right, he decided to say the line that would end up creating the perfect, lightly humorous ending to the film. Even Damon, who co-wrote the Good Will Hunting script with friend Ben Affleck decided that it had to stay in. It’s a beautiful callback to when Williams’ character, Sean, tells Will about meeting his future wife, and it makes it clear that Will had taken in all of his mentor’s lessons.

Good Will Hunting would go on to win two Academy Awards, with one of them being for Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen for the creative duo. The other would go to Williams for Best Actor in a Supporting Role, but it’s the writing win that has a story behind it. When Affleck and Damon were shopping their script around, they wrote in a scene that was completely fake for the story to see if people were actually reading it. Only Harvey Weinstein ended up pointing out that it didn’t make sense!

While not based on a true story, the 1997 flick does have some real-life inspirations added in. The character of Skylar, played by Minnie Driver, was based on Damon’s real-life college girlfriend, and the chalkboard scene was inspired by Damon’s brother, Kyle, who drew an elaborate and fake equation on a chalkboard in an MIT hallway.

In a 2014 interview, Williams made it clear that he put Good Will Hunting in the same category as the likes of Dead Poets Society, a movie that goes down as one of Williams’ best. He shared, “It’s something more than a movie, it’s something like an emotional experience…The painful stuff comes because it’s spoken so simply. That’s kind of the beauty of it. The more intimate and personal it is, the more it touches people. The more honest you are, the more it reaches out.”

The good news is that you can stream Good Will Hunting for free, as it’s available on Pluto TV. You can also get it on Paramount+ and MGM+, and it’s a must-watch for when you need something epic.

Miley Cyrus breathed new life into the rock classic song “Maybe,” and fans believe Janis Joplin would be proud.

The “Flowers” songstress put her own spin on “Maybe” during her set at the Bud Light Super Bowl Music Fest in February 2022, performing the song in the same style as Joplin famous version from the late ’60s — and she did not disappoint.

Like many of Miley’s covers of classic songs, her rendition of “Maybe” left fans feeling extremely impressed by her powerful vocals and gritty, goosebump-inducing tone.

“She sang the hell out of this song,” one YouTube viewer commented under an audio clip from the performance, which was later included on her 2022 live album, Attention: Miley Live.

“Seriously got goose bumps listening to this. I haven’t felt music like this since the 70’s. another commenter noted, while someone else added, “This version is INSANE! What an artist, what a talent, what a woman!

Others assumed that Joplin would be proud of Miley’s rendition, with users taking to the comments to say things like “Janis is smiling in heaven” and “I just know this would give Janis chills too.”

“Maybe” — which is regarded as Joplin’s best vocal performance by Far Out Magazine — was recorded by the late rocker in 1969, and appeared on her debut solo album, I Got Dem Ol’ Kozmic Blues Again Mama! 

But even though she made the song sound indisputably her own, Joplin wasn’t actually the original singer of “Maybe.”

Written by Richard Barrett, the track was originally recorded by the R&B and doo-wop girl group The Chantels in 1957. Their version peaked at No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 across a total of 17 weeks at various spots on the chart.

Joplin’s version never appeared on any of the Billboard charts, but that hasn’t stopped the song from becoming one of the most cherished performances of her career.

Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter was born on September 4, 1981, in Houston, Texas. But long before she became one of the most celebrated performers in the world, she was a young girl with a powerful voice and big dreams.

Coming from an artist who had spent years building her own career and identity, the sentiment carried particular weight: Beyoncé wasn’t simply talking about confidence as an idea; she was speaking from years of experience learning to trust her own voice.

Beyoncé’s quote is about taking ownership of the way you see yourself. Compliments feel so good. Awards can validate hard work. And the approval of people we love can matter deeply. But none of those things should determine our fundamental sense of worth. That has to come from within.

There’s also an important distinction between confidence and perfection in Beyoncé’s words. Her career has been built on a great level of discipline. But she has also spoken openly about fear, mistakes and the pressure to appear as though she has everything under control. Knowing your worth doesn’t mean believing you are flawless. It means understanding that failure, criticism or someone else’s opinion doesn’t erase your value.

No matter who you are, there will always be people willing to tell you what you should be. Beyoncé’s reminder is to listen to your own voice, trust your own judgment and remember that your worth was never theirs to give or take away.

Find theme words to fill the board.

• Theme words stay highlighted in blue when found.
• Drag or tap letters to create words. If tapping, double-tap the last letter to submit.
• Theme words fill the board entirely. No theme words overlap.

Find the “spangram.”

• The spangram describes the puzzle’s theme and touches two opposite sides of the board. It may be two words.
• The spangram highlights in yellow when found.
• An example spangram with corresponding theme words: PEAR, FRUIT, BANANA, APPLE, etc.

Need a hint?

• Find non-theme words to get hints.
• For every three non-theme words you find, you earn a hint.
• Hints show the letters of a theme word. If there is already an active hint on the board, a hint will show that word’s letter order.

Few songs capture the spirit of Labor Day weekend quite like Tim McGraw’s late-‘90s uptempo hit “Something Like That.” The track’s iconic opening line instantly sets the mood for a well-earned three-day weekend while introducing a nostalgic story about youthful romance. 

Released June 28, 1999, as the second single from McGraw’s fifth studio album, A Place in the Sun, “Something Like That” followed the project’s first single, “Please Remember Me,” to the top of the country charts. A Place in the Sun ultimately spawned five singles, including “My Best Friend,” “My Next Thirty Years,” and “Some Things Never Change.”

“Something Like That” became McGraw’s tenth No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart, now known as the Hot Country Songs chart. On Sept. 25, 1999, the song reached No. 1, where it stayed for five weeks. A crossover success, “Something Like That” also reached the Top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No. 28. 

Written by Rick Ferrell and Keith Follesé, “Something Like That” is a nostalgic celebration of a youthful summer romance that begins over Labor Day weekend. The narrator recalls meeting a girl in the ticket line at a county fair and being immediately drawn to her. The lyrics bring the memory to life through shared details of their encounter, including summer heat, a suntan line, red lipstick, and the infamous barbecue stain on the young man’s white T-shirt. Those details helped earn the song its affectionate nickname: “The BBQ Stain Song.” 

Five years later, the former love interests unexpectedly cross paths again on an airplane bound for New Orleans. Although the pair have gone their separate ways, the encounter reveals that the memory of that first love never completely faded.

While McGraw didn’t write the song, he immediately connected to it. According to Ferrill, McGraw was instrumental in getting his record label to release the track as a single.

“Tim kind of forced their hand on it,” Ferrill explained during an interview, which has been uploaded to his YouTube channel. “I don’t know, in the record label’s mind at the time, if it was even going to be a single. Tim went on an awards show, I can’t remember which one it was, and I remember Faith Hill coming out and saying, ‘Tim has a surprise for everybody.’ And Tim comes out and plays the song.”

The gamble paid off. According to Nielsen BDS, “Something Like That” was the most-played radio single of any genre during the first decade of the 2000s. And while the song resonated with listeners upon release, its staying power has lasted for decades. In 2024, Rolling Stone included “Something Like That” on its list of 200 “Greatest Country Songs of All Time,” ranking the track at No. 110.

Bill Murray, the acclaimed actor known for delivering some of Hollywood’s most memorable comedic performances, starred in the 1980 movie Caddyshack, which became a cult favorite over the years.

Directed by Harold Ramis, the movie centers on the wealthy members of the fictional exclusive Bushwood Country Club and its overworked teenage caddies, whose lives become entangled in the club’s hilarious chaos.

Forty-six years after its release, the comedy film remains a standout, earning a spot as one of the best screen comedies ever made.

Variety unveiled its curated list of the 100 Best Comedy Movies of All Time, spanning everything from classic slapstick and farce to dark comedy and romantic comedies. The list celebrates some of the industry’s most iconic and enduring comedic films.

While timeless films like The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!, Some Like It Hot and Annie Hall secured the top three spots, Murray’s Caddyshack ranked at No. 22.

Described by the outlet as “teasingly outrageous sports farce,” the film showcased different types of comedy in one movie, accompanied by memorable comic performances, particularly the “Debonair WASP mockery of Chevy Chase,” who played the character of wealthy businessman and laid-back golfer Ty Webb, and the “cuddly grunge of Bill Murray,” who portrayed Carl Spackler, an eccentric greenskeeper.

In addition to Variety, Paste Magazine also included Caddyshack in its list of 100 Best Comedies of All Time at No. 34.

Apart from its star-studded cast, what made the movie hilariously memorable was Bill Murray’s iconic “Cinderella story” monologue, which was initially not part of the script.

According to the director, he trusted the cast to use improvisation as a legitimate acting technique.

“We always trusted improvisation. It never felt like we were ad-libbing and winging it,” he said in an excerpt published by GOLF.com, adding, “It’s an actual technique and a method that allows you to create material instantly. It’s not grabbed out of thin air.”

The lead star, on the other hand, mentioned having “fun” with the improvisation and said he had no difficulties coming up with the lines.

“I was good back in those days,” he said, as mentioned by Farout Magazine. “I could do something when they turned the camera on. I was wired into what I was talking about. Improvising golf was easy for me. And it was fun. It wasn’t difficult to come up with stuff. And there was a great crowd of people there to entertain. If you made Harold laugh, you sort of earned your keep. You made your bones.”

This natural approach to comedy is also part of why Caddyshack continues to rank among the best comedy films of all time, with many of its funniest moments coming from improvisation.
