Brenda Song Showed Her and Macaulay Culkin’s Children 'Home Alone' to Teach Stranger Danger

Thu, 02/26/2026 - 3:30pm

The beloved 90s film Home Alone can teach valuable life lessons in stranger danger.

Brenda Song shared that she showed Macaulay Culkin’s iconic film to their sons, Dakota, 4, and Carson, 3, as a safety lesson.

"They love all the hijinks and the traps and stuff," Song told E! New's The Rundown. "They have no real concept [of the danger]. My oldest gets it more than my younger son."

Song says that while the film is very lighthearted at times, she tries to stress the importance of acknowledging Culkin's character was in a dangerous situation.

"I remember at the end going, 'See, your mama's here right next to you. Don't you want to give me a hug? I didn't leave,'" she said. "I'm so terrible, but I feel like your children have to be a little scared. Fear goes a long way."

Song continued, "I said, 'They're a stranger if you don't know their name.' I was like, 'It doesn't matter if they're someone's parents. If you don't know their name, or you've never seen them before at our house, they are a stranger.'"

Song and Culkin had also shared previously that their young sons have no idea it's their dad playing the titular character in the film.

During a November stop on his A Nostalgic Night tour, Culkin said of his children, "They’re only three and four years old," and that he wants to, "keep up that illusion as long as possible."

Song expressed that her children being able to watch their dad in one of his most beloved film was an "emotional" experience.

"It was really really emotional, I think for both Mac and I," she said. "It was a very surreal moment, very surreal for Mac as well. But for me it was really heartwarming to be able to see my boys watching their dad in something very very iconic."

4 Nighttime Habits To Steal From Winter Olympians

Thu, 02/26/2026 - 3:25pm

The 2026 Winter Olympics may be over, but that doesn’t mean the end of being inspired by the incredible athletes. Maybe seeing the sheer joy figure skater Alysa Liu showed on the ice is prompting you to find your own form of exercise you love. Or perhaps the endurance of the cross-country skiers is motivating you to be consistent with your outdoor runs, no matter how cold it is.

Whether you’re training for a global competition or are heading to your local gym, having enough energy to work out requires consistently getting good sleep.

“Sleep is one of the most important parts of athletic recovery and performance,” says Dr. Raj Dasgupta, MD, an internal medicine and sleep doctor and the chief medical officer for Garage Gym Reviews. He explains that sleep is when muscles are repaired, hormones that support growth and recovery are released and the immune system resets.

Related: This Is the Most Important Habit To Have if You Want To Get 8 Hours of Sleep Tonight

“When sleep is short or fragmented, reaction time slows, focus drops and injury risk can rise. Think of sleep as training for the brain and body, not just rest,” Dr. Dasgupta says.

Dr. Georges Ghacibeh, MD, a Hackensack University Medical Center neurologist who specializes in sleep medicine, adds that sleep is essential for repairing, restoring and enhancing every physiological system—most notably the musculoskeletal and cognitive functions. “Think of it as the only time your body truly ‘levels up’ from the day’s training,” he continues.

In recent interviews with various news outlets, Olympic athletes shared the sleep habits they rely on and both Dr. Dasgupta and Dr. Ghacibeh say are worth everyone adopting. Keep reading to find out what they are.

4 Sleep Habits Olympic Athletes Swear by That Are Worth Adopting1. Have a wind-down routine

While plenty of partying may have been going on in Olympic Village after athletes’ events were over, no Olympian would be out late the night before their competition. Many athletes have a tried-and-true evening routine they follow, which may include meditation, screen-free relaxation and going to bed early.

Lunge athlete Ashley Farquharson has said that she does rhythmic breathing to relax. "I’ll sit on my bed and try to think about nothing for as long as I can. I have to be very aware of my breath—that helps me think about nothing," she has shared.

“Meditation is one of the most effective tools for preparing the brain for sleep,” Dr. Ghacibeh says. He explains that meditation shifts the body’s nervous system, taking it from an excitable state to a restful one. This primes the body for sleep.

“Also, focused breathing techniques used in meditation directly lower your heart rate, reduce blood pressure and relax your muscles, sending physical signals to your brain that it is time to power down,” he adds.

Related: 13 Weird Ways Your Body Tells You That You Need More Sleep

Dr. Dasgupta agrees that evening meditation or breathwork is a great way to wind down before bed, saying that even five to 10 minutes is enough to be beneficial.

2. Invest in a good pillow

It’s hard to get into a comfortable enough position to fall asleep if your pillow is causing neck pain. Team USA cross-country skier Julia Kern told the New York Times she travels with her own pillow to ensure a good sleep the night before competing. The sleep doctors we talked to are all for this, saying that it's important to have a pillow that supports comfort in bed.

When it comes to the best pillow for sleep, Dr. Dasgupta says that it keeps the neck and spine in a neutral, comfortable position. “There is no single pillow that works for everyone because sleep position and body shape matter,” he emphasizes.

He adds that many people sleep well on a memory foam or adjustable fill pillow because it provides stable support without forcing the neck into a bent position. If you’re a side sleeper, Dr. Ghacibeh recommends a thick, firm pillow that fills the space between your ear and the outside of your shoulder so that you don't strain your neck.

3. Wake up at a consistent time, even on the weekends

Most people are slaves to their alarm clock during the week, getting up early for work, school or an early workout. But the weekends are a free-for-all. As tempting as it is to sleep in as late as you want, Emily Clark, a psychologist for the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee who frequently advises athletes on sleep, has shared that it's best to wake up at a consistent time, no matter what day of the week it is.

Dr. Dasgupta and Dr. Ghacibeh both say that this tip is worth everyone doing, not just Olympic athletes.

“Your body runs on an internal 24-hour clock called the circadian rhythm. This clock is anchored by light exposure. When you wake up at a consistent time and expose yourself to light, you are sending a strong signal to your brain's master clock,” Dr. Ghacibeh says. This, he explains, has two noteworthy effects: In the morning, it stops production of the sleep hormone melatonin, which helps with alertness. It also sets a timer for melatonin to be released again about 14 to 16 hours later, which leads to feeling sleepy in the evening, priming the body for sleep.

Dr. Dasgupta adds to this, explaining that changes in sleep habits on the weekend (such as staying up late and waking up late) can make Mondays feel like you’re adjusting to a new time zone.

4. Don’t obsess

These days, most fitness wearables don’t just track steps; they grade your sleep too. Both doctors say that sleep trackers can be a helpful tool in noticing patterns that are negatively impacting your sleep. For example, you might notice that you don’t get as much quality sleep on nights when you drink alcohol.

But both say that it’s important to avoid becoming overly obsessed with your sleep score, something Team USA mogul skier Tess Johnson said she started doing, which led to her ditching sleep trackers completely.

“Worrying about your deep sleep minutes based on this data is often counterproductive. Use the data as a general guide, but let how you feel during the day be your ultimate measure of sleep quality,” Dr. Ghacibeh says, adding that you should never trust a wearable more than your own body. “If you wake up refreshed and energized and you feel good, but the device says differently, your device is wrong."

Dr. Dasgupta adds to this, warning against chasing perfect sleep every night. “Even high-level athletes have bad nights of sleep. What matters most is consistency over weeks and months, not one isolated night,” he says.

Consistently getting enough sleep is important for everyone, not just athletes. Start integrating these habits into your life and you’ll wake up feeling like a winner.

Run to Aldi for This Internet-Famous Sour Snack Before It's Gone

Thu, 02/26/2026 - 3:25pm

If you like snacks that make your taste buds dance, there's a new treat in town that might just steal the show. Aldi shoppers are buzzing online about a frozen snack that hits all the right notes of sweet, sour and crunchy. But there's a catch—it won't stick around for long, so those who want to try it need to move fast. I'm on my way!

What Makes This Snack So Viral View this post on Instagram

The mouth-puckering snack everyone is talking about right now is Fruit Riot, a frozen fruit treat coated in tangy, candy-like flavors. It features frozen fruit splashed with lemon juice and rolled in sugary sour coatings. Each bite is a punch of flavor and texture, making it perfect for anyone who loves that sweet-and-sour zing (me).

Part of Fruit Riot's fame comes from social media. Platforms like TikTok and Instagram are full of videos of people tasting it for the first time, and reactions range from absolute shock to serious delight. Its viral popularity is boosted by the fact that it's seen as a slightly healthier indulgence. Real fruit, no artificial colors and fun textures give it an edge over ordinary candy or other sweet treats. Fans also love its versatility—enjoy it straight from the bag or add it to a dessert or snack board for a colorful, fruity pop. Yum!

How to Get Your Hands on It

User @ohheyaldi shares that Aldi has jumped on the Fruit Riot trend, and for a limited time, the sweet-and-sour treat is available in their freezer section as part of the store's Aldi Finds. These bags usually cost around $5.99, making them an affordable treat that feels special. Most Aldi stores carry the mixed mango variety, coated in sour strawberry and peach, though you may spot sour grapes if you're lucky.

Because Fruit Riot is so popular and only a limited number of bags are stocked, shoppers are reporting quick sell-outs. The best strategy? Check your local Aldi soon and head straight to the freezer aisle. If you see it, grab it before it disappears. Even if you're just curious about what all the fuss is about, one taste and you'll understand why everyone is talking about this sweet-and-sour sensation.

Disgraced Actor Gears Up for Controversial Comeback With GOP-Backed Film

Thu, 02/26/2026 - 3:23pm

Jonathan Majors wants to do movies again.

The former Marvel star, who was dropped from most of his film projects and promotional opportunities following a domestic violence abuse allegation stemming from a 2022 fight with his then-girlfriend, Grace Jabarri, is back on the scene with a new project.

Today, Deadline reported that Majors is working on his first movie in four years, a GOP-backed action film akin to Red Dawn and Toy Soldiers. The Daily Wire, a right-wing media company founded by Ben Shapiro, and Bonfire Legend, a production company founded by Dallas Sonnier, are funding the film.

Production has started filming in South Carolina. Thus far, cast and crew include Kyle Rankin (Run Hide Fight) as writer and director, and Majors as the lead. Further cast, plot, and title details are being kept under wraps.

According to AV Club, it’s not clear if Majors’ new project will see a theatrical release or be destined to just stream on The Daily Wire.

Majors and his Hollywood career were on the rise before the incident with Jabarri. Starring in The Last Black Man in San Francisco, Creed III, and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, he was a critics' dream. Following news of the violence and other concerning behavior, however, the fallout was swift.

After being found guilty of misdemeanor assault and harassment in December 2023, the actor was blacklisted. Per NPR, Majors was sentenced to probation and a 52-week counseling program. Fast-forward several months, and the actor tried to get his already filmed and screened Magazine Dreams into theaters.

Finally released in March 2025, the Searchlight Pictures drama was overshadowed by Rolling Stone publishing leaked audio of Majors admitting to strangling Jabarri.

In 2023, Majors began dating actress Meagan Goode (Think Like a Man); the two got engaged in November 2024, per People.

Beyond the Daily Wire gig, Majors was reported to be leading Merciless, a film directed by Martin Villeneuve, Deni’s brother, Deadline reported. But there’s no word on that production moving forward just yet.

Nancy Guthrie Latest Update: New Ring Camera Footage Shows Car on Possible Route From Crime Scene

Thu, 02/26/2026 - 3:21pm

It's been 26 days since Nancy Guthrie went missing from her home in Arizona and new information has just been released.

According to Fox News Digital, there's new video taken from a Ring camera of a nearby home that shows a car zipping down a street near Guthrie's home. There were about 12 cars passing by the area that same morning, according to a street-facing camera.

The residents who shared the video, Elias and Danielle Stratigouleas, live 2.5 miles away from Guthrie, 84, who went missing back on February 1. Authorities had asked residents within a 2 mile radius of Guthrie's home to check their cameras for footage from January 1 through February 1. Since the Stratigouleas' live outside of that range, they told Fox News Digital that their neighborhood hadn't been canvassed.

The video was recorded some time between midnight and 6 a.m. on Feb. 1, according to Fox News Digital. The outlet also confirmed that "some of the activity occurred near the 2:30 a.m. mark."

"One of their videos was recorded at around 2:36 a.m. on Feb. 1, which is roughly eight minutes after Guthrie's pacemaker last synced with her iPhone, according to the sheriff's timeline," the outlet reported.

Authorities are aware of the video.

Authorities believe that Guthrie, 84, may have been abducted from her Arizona home in the middle of the night. So far, there have been no arrests in the case and Guthrie's whereabouts are still unknown.

Pink, born Alecia Moore, and the former professional motocross racer first met at the 2001 Summer X Games. Pink, 46, and Hart, 50, dated on and off before he proposed in 2005. They married in Costa Rica in January 2006 and have two children together: daughter Willow Sage, 14, and sonJameson Moon, 8.

On Thursday, Feb. 26, Pink appeared to denied she and her husband were separated via a video posted to her Instagram.

“I was just alerted to the fact that I’m separated from my husband. I didn’t know.” Pink said in part. "Thank you for letting me know. I was wondering, would also you like to tell our children? My 14-year-old and 9-year-old are also unaware."

Hollywood History for Sale: You Can Own Marilyn Monroe’s Iconic Palm Springs Desert Retreat for $3.3 Million

Thu, 02/26/2026 - 2:52pm

The former Palm Springs home of screen legend Marilyn Monroe has officially hit the market for $3.3 million, offering buyers a rare opportunity to own a piece of Hollywood history in the California desert. Tucked within the celebrity-favored neighborhood of Vista Las Palmas in Palm Springs, the midcentury-modern residence reflects the glamour and escapism that defined Monroe's era.

Though Monroe owned several properties throughout her lifetime, her Palm Springs retreat—often referred to as the "Marilyn Monroe Doll House"—has long captured the imagination of fans. The 3,000-square-foot, four-bedroom home is believed to have been used as a private getaway during the late 1950s and early 1960s, when Palm Springs functioned as a playground for Old Hollywood's elite. Stars were famously required by studio contracts to remain within two hours of Los Angeles, making the desert enclave an ideal escape. Monroe joined a roster of A-listers who frequented the area, drawn by its sunshine, privacy, and growing reputation for then-modern architecture.

According to Realtor.com, the actress owned the house just before her death in 1962. It was built by the Alexander Construction Company in 1961 and designed by Charles Du Bois, who was known for his work in Palm Springs.

The property itself embodies classic desert design. Think: low-slung rooflines, clean geometric lines, and expansive glass that invites natural light while blurring the boundary between indoors and outdoors. Mature palms and mountain views frame the home, as well, reinforcing the indoor-outdoor lifestyle that has become synonymous with Palm Springs living.

Inside, updated interiors reportedly maintain period charm while incorporating contemporary finishes, making the home both a nostalgic time capsule and a livable modern residence. For example, the house features new tile flooring, modern appliances, and an updated electrical system. However, the four bathrooms all still have their original tiling and vanities.

View this post on Instagram

Celebrity real estate continues to command strong interest, and Monroe's enduring cultural impact only heightens the home's appeal. More than six decades after her death, she remains one of the most recognizable figures in entertainment history. Properties connected to her name are exceedingly rare, particularly private residences.

At $3.3 million, the listing reflects not just square footage and amenities, but the place's provenance. For collectors, architecture enthusiasts, and devoted fans alike, the home represents a tangible link to a Hollywood icon and a golden era of desert luxury.

Former 'General Hospital' Star Antonio Sabato Jr. Reveals Unique New Film Project

Thu, 02/26/2026 - 2:48pm

Former General Hospital star Antonio Sabato Jr. has announced the mystery project he has been teasing on social media in recent weeks, revealing details about a new film with an unusual production approach.

In a post on Instagram, Sabato Jr. revealed he will portray Tony DeFranco in the upcoming film Just Drive.

According to Sabato Jr’s post, Tony DeFranco is: “A reclusive, cancelled former A-list filmmaker. Framed for a crime he didn't commit. Hunted by the press, silenced by the platforms, erased from the internet. With the world watching and the powerful closing in, he has one night, one limo, one driver, and a truth so dangerous that someone already tried to kill him to keep it buried. His only weapon? A story the world isn't supposed to hear.”

The film is the debut production from Gratwick Studios, with Sabato Jr. also serving as an executive producer.

The project is described as a “one-night thriller set almost entirely inside a limo. Tony, a man Hollywood celebrated, then destroyed, then forgot, is picked up by Jeremy, a young driver drowning in his own debts and guilt, on the worst night of both their lives. What starts as a ride to no where as Tony figures out his next move becomes a reckoning with the industry that made him, the systems that control them, and the truth about what happens when you refuse to stay silent.”

The description continues: “It's a story about power, corruption, cancel culture, and what it costs to tell the truth when everyone with influence needs you to shut up. It's about two men from opposite ends of life discovering that the same machine grinding them down is the one they've been told to trust.”

Trump Calls Out Robert De Niro and Says He Should 'Get on a Boat' and Leave America

Thu, 02/26/2026 - 2:46pm

Following his State of the Union address, President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to call outRobert De Niro and numerous Democratic politicians.

In the post shared by Trump on Wednesday, Feb. 25, he criticized De Niro as well as Democratic representatives Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib who had heckled him during his address.

In a recent interview, De Niro called Trump the "enemy of the country" and urged Americans to "resist" the Trump administration. De Niro also delivered an emotional speech at a State of the Union counter programming event titled "State of the Swamp."

In his speech, De Niro told the crowd, "I feel betrayed by my country," and "It doesn't have to be perfect, but it does need to return to the values that gave us our strength and humanity."

The actor added, "If you're devoted to the Constitution and the rule of law, if you want the United States of America to be worthy of your love, be ready to take the streets together, and we will take our country back."

Trump wrote on Truth Social that Omar and Tlaib should, "actually get on a boat with Trump Deranged Robert De Niro, another sick and demented person with, I believe, an extremely Low IQ, who has absolutely no idea what he is doing or saying — some of which is seriously CRIMINAL!"

Trump also added, "When I watched him break down in tears last night, much like a child would do, I realized that he may be even sicker than Crazy Rosie O’Donnell, who is right now in Ireland trying to figure out how to come back into our beautiful United States. he only difference between De Niro and Rosie is that she is probably somewhat smarter than him, which isn’t saying much."

Terry Crews’ Daughter ‘Cringes’ at His ‘Most Viral Dance’ — Fans Love It

Thu, 02/26/2026 - 2:45pm

When Terry Crews hits the dance floor, the internet takes notice.

On Monday, February 23, the 57-year-old Brooklyn Nine-Nine star’s daughter, Tera Crews, shared a video of her dad dancing to Benny Benassi’s “Satisfaction" on TikTok.

As he stepped onto the floor, a towering LED robot performer quickly followed, matching his movements as guests cheered around them. Terry ran through a few of his iconic moves before effectively “passing the current” to the robot.

The video was captioned “Can't stop cringing/laughing,” while a text overlay read, “Watching my dad do his most viral dance moves.” The upbeat track and synchronized moves helped push the clip across TikTok feeds within hours. It soon gathered thousands of shares and more than four million likes.

A commenter told Tera, “We all love this scene, don't you ever cringe about it,” while another wrote, “Having Terry Crews as your father is such a flex.”

Another user asked, “How does it feel to have the coolest person alive as a dad??”

Fans also referenced his role in the movie White Chicks. One wrote, “WHERES LATRELL?!?” while others called for his whistle, “GET THIS MAN HIS WHISTLE ✨,” a user said.

Terry is widely associated with whistling thanks to his improvised scene in the 2004 comedy. In the film, he plays Latrell Spencer, and during one memorable moment, one of the characters asks, “Where’s Latrell?” The camera then cuts to him confidently doing his energetic signature robot dance shirtless, while whistling without a hint of hesitation.

Terry and his wife, Rebecca King-Crews, share five children: Naomi, 36, Azriél, 35, Tera, 27, Wynfrey, 23, and Isaiah, 20. Married since 1989, the couple are known to support their kid’s pursuits, and Terry often says his family, not fame, is his greatest legacy, People reports.

More than two decades after White Chicks first hit theaters, the moves still land — and Terry is still that guy.

Iconic '90s Girls Brand Linked to Epstein Resurfaces — And the Internet Isn’t Having It

Thu, 02/26/2026 - 2:40pm

Fashion brands come and go. But with late ‘90s and early ‘00s fashion trends making a comeback, it’s no surprise that Limited Too is back in the zeitgeist.

The former retail chain relaunched back in July 2024 following a hiatus that lasted over a decade. But many are questioning the timing of the relaunch, especially with the brand’s recent return to Threads.

With a connection to Jeffrey Epstein, which stems from founder Les Wexner and his decision to transfer control of the brand over to a firm controlled by the late convicted sex offender in 2001, fans are absolutely coming for the brand on social media.

For context, Wexner, 88, was recently called to speak in front of the House of Representatives Oversight Committee to address his relationship and accusations of being a co-conspirator in Epstein's crimes. According to a Thursday, February 19, report by the BBC, he denied any knowledge of his business partner’s illicit activities during a closed door testimony opening statement which was made public.

"I was naive, foolish and gullible to put any trust in Jeffrey Epstein," the billionaire said in the testimony before he added, "[Epstein] was a conman. And while I was conned, I have done nothing wrong and have nothing to hide."

Screenshot of Limited Too's Threads post on February 25, 2026.

California congressman Robert Garcia made a statement after Wexner’s testimony where he told reporters, "We should be very clear that there would be no Epstein island, there'd be no Epstein plane, there'd be no money to traffic women and girls, Mr. Epstein would not be the wealthy man he was, without the support of Les Wexner."

READ MORE: The Biggest Rock Stars Listed in the Epstein Files — And Why They’re Mentioned

But nearly one week after Wexner’s testimony, Limited Too’s Threads account decided to make its first post:  “Limited Too has entered the chat...fashionably late 😝.”

It’s safe to say the post received a whopping amount of comments, with most users mentioning the brand’s bad timing and negative ties to Wexner and Epstein.

“I’m gonna be real with you, this might be the absolute worst time you could’ve picked for this. I didn’t even open the comments yet but I know you’re getting cooked,” wrote one commenter.

“Say hi to Les for me. Disappointed in you Limited Too. I really was a Stan for years. RIP to my childhood nostalgia. Also, read the room. 🤡🤡🤡,” a second commenter wrote.

A third chimed in and made a request and wrote, “We’d like assurance that we weren’t being recorded in dressing rooms as teens.”

Wexler has not been affiliated to Limited Too since the brand was sold to Bluestar Alliance, LLC in 2015, and stepped down as CEO of L Brands (now Bath & Body Works Inc.) in 2020, cutting ties with the company.

Still, the timing of Limited Too’s social media revival comes as renewed scrutiny around Epstein’s network continues to dominate headlines. Earlier this year, the U.S. Department of Justice released millions of files connected to Epstein’s investigations, reigniting public interest in his associates and financial backers.

This 1973 Record Was Just Named Best Classic Rock Concept Album

Thu, 02/26/2026 - 2:38pm

Over 50 years after its release, Pink Floyd's beloved album, The Dark Side of the Moon, is still getting recognition.

In February 2026, Collider released a list of the 10 best classic rock concept albums. The Dark Side of the Moon, released in 1973, was named as the number one thematic classic rock album. The publication praised the album for its cohesion and its exploration of difficult topics, specifically mental illness and overconsumption.

The list also featured three other Pink Floyd albums, Animals (1977), The Wall (1979), and Wish You Were Here (1975). Other classic rock concept albums that made the list include 1972's Thick as a Brick by Jethro Tull, Heart's 1975 record, Dreamboat Annie, Billy Joel's Turnstiles, released in 1976, The Who's 1964 record, Quadrophenia, Elton John's 1975 album, Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy, and David Bowie's The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust, released in 1972.

Roger Waters Shared That He & His Pink Floyd Bandmates Were Proud of 'The Dark Side of the Moon'

In a July 2024 interview with AXS TV, Pink Floyd co-founder and bassist, Roger Waters, now 82, opened up about The Dark Side of the Moon. He said that he and his bandmates, which included the late Syd Barrett, the late Richard Wright, Nick Mason, and David Gilmour, didn't realize how much of a cultural impact their 1973 album would have. However, he said they were proud of The Dark Side of the Moon, which was the band's 8th album.

Water recalled that he had his then-wife, Judith Trim, listen to the album right after he and his bandmates finished recording it.

"She burst into tears and I thought, Well she feels the same way I do.' We finally cracked it. At that point which was 1973, where I felt we been at this since '65 so it was 8 years later. And during those eight years, we had honed our craft to the point where we're capable of making a piece of work that is homogenous and well-crafted and well put together," said Waters during the 2024 interview.

How To Make the Best-Ever Hot Chocolate, According to an Award-Winning French Chef

Thu, 02/26/2026 - 2:34pm

Few people know chocolate quite like Jacques Torres. The celebrated pastry chef and chocolatier has built a career around elevating chocolate from a simple treat to an art form, whether through handcrafted confections, viral desserts or his famously indulgent hot chocolate.

But while a luxurious cup might seem like something best left to professionals, Torres insists that making exceptional hot chocolate at home is not only possible, it’s surprisingly simple with the right approach. A truly great version comes down to choosing real ingredients, understanding how chocolate behaves and embracing a few old-world techniques and new-world tricks that prioritize flavor and texture.

In a moment where elaborate drinks are dominating social media feeds and coffee shop menus, Torres believes hot chocolate deserves just as much attention. A well-made cup, he tells Parade, can be just as expressive and memorable as any viral coffee drink.

Here, he breaks down common misconceptions about the cozy drink, including how a few small changes can dramatically improve the final result. He also shares the principles behind his fan-favorite Jacques' Legendary Hot Chocolate recipe, from selecting the right chocolate to unexpected mix-ins to make sure your drink is silky and decadent.

To see if I could make it like a pro, I gave Torres' recipe a try in my home kitchen. Read on to see how that sweet experiment went, plus get all the tips, tricks and advice for making a truly exceptional cup of hot chocolate, according to one of the world’s most trusted chocolate experts.

Who Is Jacques Torres?

Torres is a French-born pastry chef and master chocolatier widely known for helping bring artisan chocolate into the mainstream. After training in France and working in top pastry kitchens, he moved to the United States and eventually founded his own chocolate company, earning the nickname “Mr. Chocolate.”

Over the years, he has built a reputation for combining classical technique with playful creativity. His work spans everything from elegant bonbons to larger-than-life desserts, and he has also become a familiar face on television through baking competitions and culinary shows. You might know him as the head judge on Nailed It! on Netflix. But at the heart of his career is a deep respect for chocolate as not just a treat, but a versatile ingredient.

What’s the Difference Between Hot Chocolate and Hot Cocoa?

The terms are often used interchangeably, but Torres is quick to point out that hot chocolate and hot cocoa are not the same thing. The distinction comes down to the base ingredient.

He explains that hot cocoa is typically made with cocoa powder, sugar and milk or water. Because cocoa powder has had most of its cocoa butter removed, it tends to produce a lighter, thinner drink.

Hot chocolate, on the other hand, is made with real chocolate that contains cocoa solids and cocoa butter. That extra fat gives the drink a richer texture and deeper flavor. It also creates the signature velvety mouthfeel that many people associate with café-style hot chocolate.

Torres emphasizes that using real chocolate is the foundation of a truly indulgent cup. While cocoa powder has its place, he says it simply cannot replicate the depth and luxurious texture that comes from melting actual chocolate into hot milk.

Ingredients for Jacques Torres' 'Legendary' Hot Chocolate

To make Jacques' Legenday Hot Chocolate at home, you'll need whole milk, milk powder, cornstarch, dark chocolate and whipped cream, if you'd like a topping for your drink.

When shopping for the chocolate, Torres reminds us that a great cup starts with high-quality dark chocolate. He encourages home cooks not to feel intimidated by premium chocolate. A good rule of thumb is to choose a bar “you’d already eat,” he shares. He recommends dark chocolate with a cacao content between 60% and 72%, which offers lots of chocolate flavor without too much sweetness.

This basic recipe is perfect for adjusting to your tastes, and Torres suggests spices as a fun way to customize the drink.

"Historically, chocolate was often consumed with savory foods and spices," he explains. Spices like cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves and allspice can highlight chocolate’s natural earthiness. When adding these to chocolate, the goal is not to “make the drink spicy,” he says, but rather to enhance chocolate's complexity, creating a layered flavor that “feels warm” and sophisticated.

Those notes inspired me to add a little cinnamon and nutmeg to my hot chocolate.

How To Make Jacques Torres' Hot Chocolate

To make a Torres-inspired cup at home, begin by chopping your chocolate into small pieces.

Bring the milk to a boil in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Lower the heat to medium, then gradually add in the chocolate, whisking continuously until the chocolate is melted and the mixture is smooth.

Courtesy Angel Albring

Next, whisk the powdered milk and cornstarch together. Sprinkle the mixture into the pot, whisking constantly, until the hot chocolate thickens slightly and becomes glossy.

Courtesy Angel Albring

The powdered milk enhances creaminess, almost like enriching milk with cream, while the cornstarch provides a subtle thickening effect. Used sparingly, the combination creates a “silky, velvety consistency” that doesn’t “overpower the chocolate’s flavor,” says Torres. Just a small amount goes a long way!

From there, adjust flavors to taste. Add a pinch of spices if desired, and pour into mugs while hot. I added nutmeg and cinnamon to mine, just a sprinkle of each.

Courtesy Angel Albring

Finish with a dollop of whipped cream for a balanced, café-worthy result. For this, I added four tablespoons of heavy cream to a jar, screwed the lid on tight, and shook it for about two minutes, until it was the soft consistency I like, but you can whip the cream into stiff peaks or even use canned whipped cream.

Jacques Torres' Hot Chocolate: My Honest Review

Nothing in this recipe is overly complicated, but every choice serves a purpose. The approach strips away gimmicks and focuses on flavor and texture, not a social media attention-getting aesthetic.

What stands out most is how achievable it all is. While Torres is known for high-end desserts, his hot chocolate philosophy feels surprisingly accessible. With a good chocolate bar, some milk and a saucepan, most home cooks can recreate a far more luxurious cup than typical cocoa mixes deliver.

His perspective on balance also resonates. The emphasis isn’t on making the sweetest or richest drink possible, but on creating harmony among the ingredients.

In a time when over-the-top drinks dominate social media, Torres’ method feels refreshingly simple, and the drink is absolutely delicious.

I live right outside of Lititz, PA, where the Wilbur Chocolate factory used to operate. That factory is now a hotel and restaurant, but the smell of chocolate lingers and fills the air the moment you walk into the building. This hot chocolate made my kitchen smell just like that!

It tastes exactly like eating a dark chocolate bar, but with hints of cinnamon and nutmeg. It was full-flavored, not watered down, and the texture was thick and smooth. The cream on top was light, and I only added a thin layer to give it some creaminess, but not overpower the drink. This felt like something you’d pay a lot of money for at a fancy café, but it came together in my kitchen in less than five minutes.

3 Tips To Keep in Mind When Making This Hot Chocolate

If you're making this hot chocolate (and you absolutely should), here are a few things that will help you dial in this drink.

1. Keep things moving

The milk will splatter if it gets too hot, and it can stick to the pot, so constant whisking is a must.

2. Think small

Also, the chocolate will clump if the pieces are too big or if you don’t stir it as you add it to the hot milk. Chopping the bar into small pieces helps it melt faster, so don't skip that step.

3. Skip the sugar

Instead of marshmallows or sweet creams, Torres recommends topping the hot chocolate with unsweetened whipped cream. The cream adds richness and body, while also slightly cooling the drink and tempering its sweetness.

"For me, it's all about the balance," he shares. “I do not like anything that is overly sweet, and with a hot chocolate, there is already sugar in the chocolate.”

NYT Best-Selling Author Jay McInerney Returns With First Book in Over A Decade

Thu, 02/26/2026 - 2:32pm

Over three decades since the release of his best-selling novel Brightness Falls, critically acclaimed author Jay McInerney has confirmed that the release of his new novel, See You on the Other Side, will officially conclude his long-running series.

McInerney's first novel in a decade, See You on the Other Side also draws to a close what readers have described as the fan-favorite Calloway series. While initially believed to be a trilogy that ended with 2016's Bright, Precious Days, McInerney's new novel will instead act as the final send-off to his overarching characters, Corrine and Russell Calloway.

The announcement and subsequent confirmation came directly from McInerney himself over social media, with the 71-year-old author alluding to the upcoming book's release via Alfred A. Knopf's Instagram page.

"Dear Reader," McInerney's note began. "See You on the Other Side, begins at the start of the pandemic, and takes its title from a handwritten sign that I saw taped inside a coffee shop window in the latter days of March, 2020, the idea being of course, that this would all be over soon."

"Once I approached the end of the novel the title took on new significance," the author continued. "This is the final installment of what is now a tetralogy that began with Brightness Falls. That book centers on the life of a glamorous young couple, Russell and Corrine Calloway, and their friends, making their way in New York in the late eighties."

"When the Word Trade Towers were attacked in Sept 2001, ten years after the publication, I was at a loss as to how to deal with that disaster but felt, as a New York novelist, I must," he went on to say. "I settled on the idea of registering the event through the perceptions of the Calloways, whom I had continued to think about over the years."

"Bright, Precious Days, set against the backdrop of Obama’s election and the recession of 2008, followed," McInerney concluded. "I felt compelled to visit Russell and Corrine one more time a few years ago, and while the book stands entirely on its own, I like to think that together the four novels create a social history of New York in my time here, at the apex of the city’s brilliance.”

McInerney's highly anticipated new novel, See You on the Other Side, arrives in stores on April 14, 2026.

Gastroenterologists Say This Unexpected Poop Smell Can Mean Your Gut Microbiome Is Off

Thu, 02/26/2026 - 2:25pm

There’s no doubt that poop smells bad, and you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who would argue with that statement. But its odor can shift, and certain changes in smell can signal that something is going on with your gut microbiome

To understand why poop smells the way it does, it helps to know a little about what’s happening inside your digestive system. Your gut is home to trillions of bacteria that help break down food your body can’t fully digest on its own. As these microbes do their job, they produce byproducts—some harmless, some smelly.

Certain foods are more likely to intensify stool odor, especially those high in sulfur-containing compounds like eggs, red meat, garlic, onions and cruciferous vegetables. High-fat foods can also contribute, particularly if your body struggles to fully digest fats, which can leave more material behind for bacteria to ferment.

Temporary changes in smell aren’t usually a cause for concern, especially if they line up with dietary shifts, travel, stress or a short-term illness. But when unusually strong or foul-smelling stool sticks around, it can be a clue that digestion isn’t working as efficiently as it should.

Poop’s foul odor comes from the waste products that the gut bacteria produce in the large intestines when they’re breaking down food. This triggers the release of certain gases that contain sulfur, which are stinky.

While you probably try to avoid getting too much of a whiff when you’re in the bathroom, your stool tends to carry a stench that’s familiar, so much so that you probably don't notice it. However, your poop can become extra smelly due to inflammatory bowel disease, celiac disease, malabsorption or certain medications. It could also be due to something you ate. But one smell in particular can tip you off to a very specific issue—here's what to know.

The Poop Smell That Could Mean Changes Are Happening in Your Gut Microbiome

If you ever notice that your poop smells sweet, it could suggest that changes are happening with your gut microbiome, says Dr. Ritu Nahar, MD, a gastroenterologist at Allied Digestive Health in Somerset, New Jersey. “Most commonly, I’ll see this with dietary shifts, particularly increased intake of sugars, fruits or artificial sweeteners.”

“When your gut bacteria or your diet changes, the gases they produce change, too,” echoes Dr. Aditi Stanton, MD, a gastroenterologist at Gastro Health in Cincinnati, Ohio. “That can make stool smell unusually sweet or fruity.”

Many things can alter your gut bacteria, including antibiotics or illnesses, Dr. Nahar says. “These changes affect fermentation in the colon, leading to different metabolic byproducts and odor profiles. In some cases, carbohydrate malabsorption can result in excess fermentation and sweeter-smelling compounds.”

A keto diet may also alter your gut microbiome. And, if you’re embracing the diet and focusing on higher-fat foods, you may notice your poop (and other body waste) smelling sweeter than usual. This is because of ketone production, a byproduct of your body burning fat instead of carbs for energy. Keto diets are also associated with diarrhea, constipation, bloating and nausea

Most of the time, changes in stool odor don’t last long, especially if it’s related to something you ate, Dr. Nahar says. But if the sweet smell (or any other new stench) seems to come out of nowhere, sticks around, or if you have other symptoms, like bloody stool, chronic diarrhea or pain, it could be a sign of a larger issue, and you should consult your doctor.

Another Important Reason Your Poop May Smell Sweet

Clostridioides difficile, often referred to as C. diff, is a bacterium that causes diarrhea and inflammation of the colon, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Related: ‘I’m a Gastroenterologist—This Is the One Popular Diet I Would Never, Ever Follow’

“People sometimes describe C. diff-associated diarrhea as having a strong, sickeningly sweet or unusual odor, which may be related to altered bile acid metabolism, certain gases produced by the bacteria and disruption in the gut microbiome,” Dr. Stanton says.

Anyone can get C. diff, but it’s most common while taking antibiotics or after finishing them. Recent hospital stays also raise your risk, and people with weakened immune systems or who’ve been previously infected with the bacteria may be more likely to get it.

Along with odor changes, the infection can cause diarrhea, fever, stomach pain, loss of appetite or nausea. C. diff is easily spread and rarely goes away on its own, so if you suspect you have it, see your doctor.

When To See a Doctor

When your poop smells sweet, Dr. Nahar says it should generally go away in a day or two. But you should see your doctor if it doesn’t, and you also have symptoms, including chronic diarrhea, fatty stool, abdominal pain, weight loss, fatigue or blood in your stool.

Related: Here’s Exactly What Happens to Your Body When You Eat Fermented Foods Every Day

“If sweet (or unusual) smelling stool coincides with watery diarrhea, abdominal pain, fever or newly mucoid stools, particularly following a course of antibiotics or recent hospitalization, this could suggest a C. diff infection,” Dr. Stanton explains.

Doctors may do stool, blood or breath tests to help diagnose malabsorption or bacterial overgrowth, Dr. Nahar says. C. diff is diagnosed with a stool study that detects the bacteria and the toxin it produces, Dr. Stanton adds, and it’s treated with a specific type of antibiotic.

Otherwise, managing poop that smells sweet involves addressing the underlying cause and may include dietary modifications, microbiome restoration or other condition-based treatments, Dr. Nahar says.

'OutDaughtered': Adam & Danielle Busby Announce Major Family Decision That Divides Fans

Thu, 02/26/2026 - 2:24pm

OutDaughtered stars Adam and Danielle Busby just announced a major family decision that left TLC fans divided.

In the Feb. 26 episode of Danielle and Adam's More Than Reality Podcast, the parents of six—a daughter, Blayke, 14, and 10-year-old, all-girl quintuplets, Hazel,Riley, Parker, Ava and Olivia—revealed that they were going to homeschool the quints.

"I never would have told you that we would have ever homeschooled our kids," Danielle admitted. But here we are, accepting that in sixth grade, the quints will start with a co-op homeschool."

Adam added, "That's why we leaned a little bit more to like a homeschool co-op is because, like, you have the best of both worlds. You have at-home learning, where they can learn at their own pace. But also, like, you can select certain subjects where they actually go to a teacher. And it's in more of a classroom setting. So they do interact with other students and other kids at their age."

That's when Danielle pointed out, "We've got five. We did talk about, do you think all of them would do this? Do we think some of them go to public school and some of them don't? But when it came down to the conversations with the quints, they all wanted to stay together. And they all wanted to do the co-op."

Related: OutDaughtered: Danielle & Adam Busby Share Update on Daughter’s Medical Diagnosis

In the comments of a clip of the episode that Adam shared on Instagram, fans were divided in their reactions.

One critic shared, "Kids need to learn to be around other adults and kids, you won’t be able to get them a job from home… they need to adjust to being in the public without parents watching over them…"

To that, Adam directly responded, "And that’s why we are doing a co-op. Kids are also very involved with other sports and activities in public. Homeschool isn’t locking your kids in a basement, to never go outside."

Another follower wrote, "Hope it goes better than when y'all tried to handle the COVID school situation. 😂 I could never!"

Someone else speculated, "AKA we don’t like diversity," as yet another wondered, "Just the quints not Blayke?"

However, others fully supported Danielle and Adam's decision to homeschool their kids. One follower shared, "We homeschool all 4 of ours all the way through! Best decision ever!❤️."

Someone else echoed, "That’s so great for y’all! I’ve been homeschooling for 15 yrs, and it was the best decision I ever made."

Meanwhile, yet another fan commented, "Love this ❤️ Also homeschooling my littles!!!"
