2000s Rock Band Forced to Postpone Show Amid Tour

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 10:33pm

Fans are left disappointed after the electro-rock band Puscifer announced unexpected news about their show.

The three-member band is in the middle of their The Normal Isn't North American Tour, supporting their latest album of the same name, released in February.

Since March 20, the “Momma Sed” hitmakers have been on the road performing across multiple states, with Las Vegas marking the kickoff of their tour.

As they traveled across the East Coast, Puscifer experienced a setback before their performance in Pennsylvania.

In an Instagram post, the band announced that they were forced to postpone the upcoming show in Hershey.

According to their official statement, there was an issue with the venue, prompting a necessary delay for everyone's safety.

“The venue is currently experiencing a plumbing issue that makes rescheduling necessary. We’re working closely with the promoter to reschedule the performance as soon as possible. Please stay tuned for updates. We’ll share more information as soon as we have it. Thanks for your patience and understanding,” the post reads.

Set for April 8, the unexpected update in their schedule came as a surprise to concertgoers, leaving them caught off guard.

“Just came in from the UK. I guess I'll have some chocolate now,” another added, trying to lighten the situation.

“Drove 4 hours from Ithaca, NY for the show. Total bummer! Like a kidney stone, this too will pass (and hopefully be rescheduled),” a follower echoed.

As of this writing, fans are still awaiting updates regarding the postponed show in Pennsylvania.

Meanwhile, Puscifer’s The Normal Isn't Tour will continue until May with its final stop in Los Angeles, California.

1972 No. 1 Soft Rock Hit Just Surpassed 1 Billion Streams on Spotify: 'I'm Amazed and Surprised'

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 9:56pm

As rock history has proven over and over again, oftentimes a band's biggest hit is a song they didn't expect to do particularly well.

A perfect example? America's classic 1972 #1 hit, "A Horse With No Name."

As guitarist/singer Dewey Bunnell told Classic Rock in 2007, "everybody had a song called 'I Need You' in mind as the single."

"It was initially felt that 'A Horse With No Name' was good but perhaps a little too quirky," he continued. "At first it felt like a bit of a novelty song. It was a shock that it became so popular.”

Now, over 50 years after "A Horse With No Name" was released, Bunnell continues to be shocked by the song's success. In a new video posted to America's official TikTok, Bunnell took the time to thank fans for the track's most recent milestone: Passing the billion-streams mark on Spotify.

@americatheband

Thank you to all the listeners, thank you @Spotify, and thank you to that old horse with no name 🙏 #horsewithnoname #americaband #70smusic

♬ A Horse with No Name - America

"Hi, this is Dewey Bunnell of the band America," the musician said in the clip.

"I'm amazed and surprised that I've just been informed that the song 'Horse With No Name,' which I wrote and America recorded, of course, 50-plus years ago, has surpassed the 1 billion mark on Spotify," he continued. "Thank you to all you listeners, thank you Spotify, and thank you to that old horse with no name."

Fans in the comments were thrilled to hear the news, with one calling the accomplishment "pure gold."

"Proves that music is timeless!" added a second person.

"One of the greatest songs ever written," declared someone else, with another commenter calling it the "best song ever."

Not only did Bunnell come around to the fact that "A Horse With No Name" was destined to be a hit, he's also made peace with the fact that America is associated with the soft rock genre, as he told Classic Rock.

“Being called ‘middle of the road’ used to make me flinch,” he said, “but I’d like to think that we’ve carved out our own place in music history.”

It seems Spotify users would say that's exactly what America has done.

Iconic '70s Rocker, With Classic No. 1 Hit Song, Announces Exciting News

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 9:50pm

After decades as one of rock's most influential figures, Roger Waters is stepping back into the spotlight with a major new announcement.

The Pink Floyd co-founder is introducing LEGACY: A Pink Floyd Show, a tribute performance led by his son, Harry Waters. Set to tour next year, the production will highlight music from the band's "golden era," along with select songs from Rogers' solo career.

According to Roger, the show is designed as both a celebration and a continuation of the music that shaped his career. In the Instagram announcement, he described it as "The Father's Legacy, the Son's Band," highlighting a passing of Pink Floyd's legendary music to the next generation.

But the reveal came with a twist. Rogers also issued an open call for a vocalist to join the band, noting that one key element is still missing.

"Harry's band is missing one thing. The voice I had when I was young," he said, referencing the vocal skill and range required to perform tracks like "Comfortably Numb" and "Don't Leave Me Now." He then invited fans directly to audition, calling it a serious opportunity for the right performer.

View this post on Instagram

The announcement's interactive element is drawing attention, as it gives fans a once-in-a-lifetime chance to become a part of Pink Floyd's legacy. It also reflects Roger's continued influence on the band's impact.

Rogers' place in rock music remains firmly intact. As a strong creative force behind albums like The Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall, he helped push the boundaries of rock and live performance throughout the 1970s.

Now, LEGACY is bringing that era back, while also giving the music a fresh perspective led by his son. Nostalgic audiences and new listeners alike will be able to hear some of rock's greatest hits live after decades of deprivation. The added audition only heightens anticipation, turning the show into something fans can actively be part of.

Even decades after Pink Floyd's peak, Rogers continues to find new ways to keep the music alive, now passing it forward to a new generation.

Why Donald Trump Has Queen Elizabeth's Final Portrait in His Mar-a-Lago Home

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 9:43pm

President Donald Trump has an affinity for the British royal family and even reportedly has one of Queen Elizabeth II’s final portraits hanging in his Mar-a-Lago home.

Queen Elizabeth sat for a portrait by the Polish-British artist Basia Kaczmarowska-Hamilton just four months before her death in September 2022 at the age of 96, author Robert Hardman explains in his new biography, Elizabeth II: In Private. In Public. The Inside Story. The resulting painting ended up being the last official portrait of the monarch and was originally intended for London's Polish Institute. However, the Queen was thrilled with the painting and requested to keep it, according to Hardman. The original is still hanging in Windsor Castle, and a reproduction was sent to the Polish Institute.

An additional reproduction was also given to Trump, 79, by the artist because he wanted a “permanent reminder” of the monarch following her death, the biographer claims.

On the eve of Independence Day, Barbara Kaczmarowska-Hamilton, the portraitist of the Windsor and the author of the last portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, opened her latest exhibition 'London alive. Trump formally met Queen Elizabeth on two occasions during his presidency. In July 2018, Trump and his wife, Melania Trump, visited Windsor Castle for tea and a ceremonial welcome. The Trumps also partook in a formal state visit to Buckingham Palace in June 2019.

"She was so great. I wanted to hang her picture in a room where there is no one else on the wall," Trump reportedly told Hardman. The author reports that the painting now hangs above a medieval ship painting in the dining room of Trump's Florida residence.

Trump was reportedly “awestruck” by the Queen, according to former White House Russia advisor Fiona Hill in her 2021 book, There Is Nothing For You Here: Finding Opportunity in the 21st Century. She said he saw a meeting with her Majesty as a sign that he "had made it in life."

After Elizabeth’s death, Trump said in a statement he and the First Lady would "always cherish our time together with the Queen, and never forget Her Majesty's generous friendship, great wisdom, and wonderful sense of humor."

"What a grand and beautiful lady she was—there was nobody like her!" Trump wrote at the time on social media. "Our thoughts and prayers will remain with the great people of the United Kingdom as you honor her most meaningful life and exceptional service to the people. May God bless the Queen, may she reign forever in our hearts, and may God hold her and Prince Philip in abiding care."

It’s not as obvious if the feeling was mutual. Queen Elizabeth’s friend Monty Roberts claimed the monarch “didn’t like” Trump in the 2024 documentary The Cowboy and the Queen. Author Craig Brown’s 2024 biography on the monarch, A Voyage Around the Queen, made similar claims.

"A few weeks after President Trump's visit, for instance, she confided in one lunch guest that she found him ‘very rude,’” wrote Brown. “She particularly disliked the way he couldn't stop looking over her shoulder, as though in search of others more interesting."

Trump seemingly has the same adoration for Elizabeth’s son and the current reigning monarch, King Charles. Although the president has been butting heads with U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer, he has expressed excitement about Charles and Queen Camilla’s upcoming state visit at the end of April.

“I look forward to spending time with the King, whom I greatly respect,” Trump wrote on Truth Social after the palace’s announcement of the King’s trip, PBS reported. “It will be TERRIFIC!”

Despite calls to cancel the trip, both publicly and politically, Charles and Camilla are set to make their first US state visit since His Majesty ascended to the throne.

Queen Elizabeth Was 'Thrilled' Meeting Princess Lilibet During Their Only Encounter Before Her Death

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 9:22pm

Queen Elizabeth II was lucky enough to meet one of her youngest great-grandchildren, Princess Lilibet, shortly before she died in 2022.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who share son PrinceArchie and daughter Lilibet, had been living in the United States for nearly two years before their family of four made a trip to the U.K. for a series of events marking the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in June 2022.

RELATED: Why Queen Elizabeth II Didn't Attend King Charles' Wedding to Camilla

Robert Hardman gave details about one of the final times the royal family gathered to celebrate Elizabeth’s 70th year on the throne in his biography, Elizabeth II: In Private. In Public. Her Story.

"The Queen would finally get to meet Lilibet and was thrilled, say friends, as the 1-year-old crawled around her feet," Hardman writes in his upcoming book, out May 19.

The Duke of Sussex, 41, also recalled the special meeting with Archie, now 6, and Lilibet, now 4, which marked the only time the Queen spent time in person with her great-granddaughter, before her death at the age of 96. The Duke of Sussex said he reflected on those happy memories in the days following Elizabeth’s death in September 2022.

"I also couldn’t stop picturing [the children] with Granny. The final visit. Archie making deep, chivalrous bows, his baby sister Lilibet cuddling the monarch’s shins," Harry wrote in his memoir, Spare. “‘Sweetest children,’ Granny said, sounding bemused. She’d expected them to be a bit more … American, I think? Meaning, in her mind, more rambunctious.”

While that was the final time Archie and Lilibet would spend with the monarch, Elizabeth was able to gather her other great-grandchildren at Balmoral in summer 2022.

"The Queen wanted all the great-grandchildren to come up to Balmoral at some point over that summer, even if the Sussexes might not be able to make it," Hardman writes, per an excerpt published by the Daily Mail. “She wanted to make sure that they all had a really happy memory of her,' explained a friend of the family.”

Harry has spoken extensively about his special bond with Elizabeth, whom he affectionately referred to as “granny.” He wrote more about their happy memories together in Spare

"Making a silly video for the first Invictus Games, discovering that she was a natural comedienne,” Harry wrote. "People around the world howled, and said they’d never suspected she possessed such a wicked sense of humor — but she did, she always did! That was one of our little secrets. In fact, in every photo of us, whenever we’re exchanging a glance, making solid eye contact, it’s clear: We had secrets."

Where Former Prince Andrew Lives Now After Being Booted From Royal Lodge

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 8:55pm

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor not only lost his royal titles amid public criticism over his ties to sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, but he was also forced to leave his residence of 20 years. Keep reading to learn about where Andrew is living now and why the eviction was a strong message to the public from the monarchy.

Where Did Prince Andrew Move From?

The former Prince Andrew lived at Royal Lodge, a 30-room estate nestled in Windsor Great Park. It was built in the 1800s and used as a beloved country retreat for King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, the parents of Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Margaret. Andrew moved into the residence with ex-wife Sarah Ferguson and their daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, after Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother's death in 2002.

Although Andrew stepped back from his royal duties in 2019 under the recommendation of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, King Charles took further measures to sever his brother from the royal family in 2025. Andrew came under fresh scrutiny after the release of Virginia Giuffre’s posthumous memoir, Nobody's Girl, where she alleged she had sex with Andrew when she was 17. In addition, documents released by the United States Department of Justice showed further ties between Andrew, Epstein, and Ferguson.

In October 2025, Buckingham Palace released a statement that it "initiated a formal process to remove the Style, Titles and Honours of Prince Andrew,” noting he would be now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. The statement also specified that Andrew would be forced to move from Royal Lodge into another "private accommodation."

"These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him," the palace said at the time. "Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse."

Where Is Prince Andrew Living Now?

After leaving Royal Lodge, Andrew moved into Wood Farm on Sandringham while his new home, Marsh Farm, went through extensive renovations. Wood Farm, a five-bedroom secluded estate, is a favorite of the royal family and where Prince Philip lived after he retired from his royal duties in 2017.

Wood Lodge is where Andrew was arrested in February 2026 on his 66th birthday in connection with an investigation into misconduct in public office related to his ties to Epstein. He was released after 11 hours and returned to Wood Farm under investigation.

Andrew was reportedly “dragging his feet” about leaving Wood Lodge, The Sun reported. Things came to a head when Prince Edward and his wife, Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, were annoyed about Andrew still living at the property and they were unable to stay at the residence over Easter weekend.

The disgraced prince has reportedly officially moved into Marsh Farm, per Daily Mail, as he was seen walking his dog near the property on April 6.

Why Did King Charles Make Andrew Leave Royal Lodge?

Andrew living at Royal Lodge sent a message to the public that King Charles still supported his brother, both emotionally and financially. The monarch’s actions come under public scrutiny because taxpayer dollars fund the British Royal Family, primarily through an annual payment known as the Sovereign Grant, according to the House of Commons Library. In 2024, author Robert Hardman claimed in his book, Charles III: New King. New Court. The Inside Story, that Charles cut his brother off financially in the wake of public criticism.

Charles reportedly instructed the Keeper of the Privy Purse to end Andrew’s estimated $1.3 million (£1 million) a year personal allowance and stop paying for his seven-figure private security, Hardman claimed in his book, per an excerpt by the Daily Mail.

As we move through 2026, the shift toward organic modernism has completely redefined how we approach home organization and lifestyle styling. Interior designers are increasingly moving away from synthetic storage solutions in favor of natural materials that bring the outdoors inside. The goal is to create a sanctuary vibe within the home—a space that feels soft, layered, and deeply connected to nature. Achieving this look doesn't require a total architectural overhaul; rather, it lies in strategically placing accent pieces that offer tactile interest and a neutral palette to ground the room.

The secret to a high-end, curated space often lies in the contrast between structured silhouettes and raw, woven textures. A well-placed storage unit is one of the most effective ways to shape a room's mood, especially when the piece itself serves as a decorative focal point. By integrating elements like rattan, wicker, or woven fibers, homeowners can soften the sharp edges of modern furniture and add a much-needed layer of warmth to a bedroom, kitchen, or living area.

2000s Movie Ranked 'Worst Romantic Comedy of All Time'

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 8:47pm

Because I Said So showcased a stellar cast, including the late Diane Keaton and Mandy Moore, but the storyline seemed to fall flat.

The 1990s and early 2000s, also known as the Y2K era, delivered some of the most beloved romanticcomedies. Unfortunately, one film landed at the very bottom and earned the harsh label of “worst romantic comedy of all time.”

Rotten Tomatoes, a known online review aggregation website for film and television, released a list of 35 romantic comedy films widely regarded as the worst. Landing at the top spot is the 2007 movie Because I Said So.

According to the rankings, critics noted that the rom-com film was “overly reliant on caricatures and lacking any human insight” and described it as “an unfunny, cliche-ridden mess.”

The rom-com movie received a 3 percent score on the Tomatometer, which represents the proportion of professional critics who reviewed it positively.

As for the Popcornmeter, audiences gave it a 65 percent score, an okay-to-decent rating that suggests that the movie is watchable but one that likely has noticeable flaws that kept it from being a fan favorite.

Mandy Moore, Diane Keaton and Piper Perabo arrive at the world premiere of "Because I Said So" at ArcLight Hollywood on January 30, 2007 in Hollywood, California.

Other movies included in Rotten Tomatoes' “worst romantic comedy of all time” are Down to You, Saving Sara, Material Girls, A Little Bit of Heaven, Waiting for Forever, Good Luck Chuck, Gigli and The Perfect Man in the top 10.

Helmed by Michael Lehmann, the director behind the 1989 cult classic black comedy Heathers, Because I Said So focuses on a mother’s struggle to let go of her adult daughters.

Keaton took on the character of Daphne Wilder, who has three daughters, Maggie (Lauren Graham), Mae (Piper Perabo) and her youngest, Milly (Mandy Moore).

With Daphne witnessing Milly often choose the wrong man, she stepped in to avoid her daughter repeating the same mistakes.

In a previous interview, Mandy Moore shared that she had to put her “game face on” the moment she began working with Diane Keaton.

“But inside I was freaking out,” she told Hollywood, adding that she felt the need to step it up while working opposite such a legendary performer.

Despite her initial nerves, Moore revealed that Keaton ultimately made her feel “so comfortable” on set.

Besides Moore, Keaton, Perabo and Graham, the Because I Said So cast also includes Gabriel Macht as Johnny Dresden, Milly's love interest.

1975 No. 1 Hit Song Became a Timeless Breakup Anthem

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 8:47pm

In 1975, American music history changed when Glen Campbell released “Rhinestone Cowboy”, a song that would become one of the most important crossover hits of the decade.

Released on May 26, 1975, the track served as the lead single and title song of Campbell’s album of the same name. It quickly rose across both country and pop charts, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 1 on the Hot Country Singles chart, making it one of the rare songs in history to dominate both spaces at the same time.

At the height of its popularity, the song even returned to the top spot on the country chart after briefly being replaced, marking a rare chart achievement not seen since the early 1960s.

What made the song even more powerful was its emotional pull. While it was not written as a traditional breakup song, its themes of longing, loneliness and survival turned it into a timeless breakup anthem for listeners who connected deeply with its message.

The song was originally written and recorded by Larry Weiss in 1974, but it was Glen Campbell’s 1975 version that turned it into a global hit.

Campbell first heard the song on the radio while touring in Australia. He felt an instant connection to its message about a performer struggling to survive while still chasing dreams of success

After returning to the United States, he pushed to record it for Capitol Records, believing it reflected his own life in the music industry.

Music writers later noted that Campbell strongly related to the song’s emotional core, especially its focus on survival during hard times and pushing forward despite disappointment.

The lyrics describe a worn-down entertainer who still believes he will “shine” one day, even after years of struggle. This feeling of emotional endurance is what helped the song become widely interpreted as more than just a career anthem.

Glen Campbell’s heartfelt vocal delivery added even more emotional weight. His performance made the character in the song feel real, someone who is tired, but still fighting to be seen and valued.

The result was a song that worked on two levels: a story about fame and struggle, and a deeply personal emotional reflection for listeners going through their own breakups.

“Rhinestone Cowboy” became Glen Campbell’s signature song and one of the defining hits of the 1970s. It earned massive international success, topping charts in the United States, Canada, Ireland and other countries.

It was also certified Gold by the RIAA for over one million units sold, and later remained popular in the digital era, with hundreds of thousands of downloads even decades after its release.

The song’s legacy only grew stronger after Campbell’s passing in 2017, when it re-entered digital charts and continued to be streamed by new generations of listeners.

Campbell himself was already a major star before the song’s release, with hits like “Wichita Lineman,” “Galveston” and “By the Time I Get to Phoenix.”

Decades later, “Rhinestone Cowboy” remains a powerful reminder that emotional pain and perseverance often go hand in hand. Whether listeners interpret it as a story of fame, loneliness or heartbreak, its message continues to resonate.

Aldi Shoppers Say This Rice Alternative Is the 'Best Aldi Find' They've Ever Eaten—but It May Not Be Around for Long

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 8:05pm

Finding a good rice alternative isn't always easy, especially if rice is something you grew up eating regularly. Whether you're trying to switch things up, add more protein to your meals or want something a little different, most substitutes don't quite hit the same. The texture can be off, the flavor can feel flat, and sometimes it just doesn't work the way you need it to in everyday meals.

That's why shoppers are snatching up this Aldi find that deserves more hype. According to fans, it checks a lot of boxes, from texture to nutrition, and actually works as a stand-in for rice in real meals. However, like many Aldi Finds, it may not stick around for long, which has shoppers already thinking about stocking up.

The Aldi Find That Works as a Rice Swap

Aldi

The Simply Nature Organic Tricolor Legume Rice is a plant-based alternative made from ingredients like lentil flour, chickpea flour and green pea flour. Unlike traditional rice, it goes all in on legumes, boosting protein and fiber while still hitting the spot.

Instead of turning mushy like some rice alternatives, it holds its texture well and cooks up quickly. Compared to regular white rice, it offers more protein and fiber per serving, making it appealing to anyone looking to make small swaps without completely changing their diet.

Still, it's not exactly the same as rice. It has a slightly earthy flavor from the legumes and can feel closer to small pasta, like orzo, depending on how it's cooked.

The Easiest Ways to Use It at Home

One of the biggest reasons this product is getting rave reviews is how easy it is to work into everyday meals. Instead of trying to reinvent recipes, shoppers are using it the same way they'd use rice.

Bowls are one of the most popular options. You can pair it with proteins, sauces and vegetables to build meals that are filling and tasty. Some examples include taco bowls with ground beef, salsa and sour cream, or Mediterranean-style bowls with chicken, cucumbers and tzatziki.

You can also use it as a base for heartier dishes. Add it to chili, serve it with slow-cooked salsa chicken, or mix it into soups and salads for extra texture. Because it holds up well, it doesn't fall apart when combined with sauces or reheated later.

It can also work as a simple side dish. Keep it minimal by adding garlic, salt or sautéed vegetables to bring out the flavor without overcomplicating things.

Shoppers Say It's Worth Stocking Up http://www.floridamortgagebrokers.net
by u/chestergriggs in business

It's not just about the taste—this is one of those Aldi finds that doesn't stay on shelves long.

On Reddit, one shopper called it the "best Aldi find" they've ever eaten and said they were already planning to go back and buy multiple boxes, worried it wouldn't stay on shelves. That concern isn't unfounded. Other shoppers say they've seen similar items come and go, with this one appearing as a limited-time find rather than a permanent staple.

That limited availability has created a bit of urgency. People are stocking up when they see it and hoping it eventually becomes a regular item.

Not every review is glowing. Some shoppers say they didn't love the flavor or expected it to taste more like traditional rice, but the overall response is positive, especially for those looking for a higher-protein alternative.

For now, this Aldi find is still in stores, but that can change quickly. And if the pattern holds, it might be worth grabbing a box (or a few) while you still can.

What was the first challenge on tonight’s episode of Next Level Chef, and who won it?

The night’s challenge required the nine chefs to channel their inner cowboys and saddle up for a true test of technique as they elevated rustic ranch-style dishes to the next level.

The winning chef was Gabrielle from Team Gordon.

She said, “I am so proud of myself. I led my team to safety on the last day that I could and it feels so damn good.”

Richard chose to send Jared into the elimination challenge, because his protein was slightly over cooked. and Nyesha chose Machete because his dish was the least effective of the three dishes on her team.

The elimination challenge was 25 minutes to make an elevated King salmon dish.

The chef that cooked his final dish in the Next Level Kitchen was Machete.

“I’m speechless,” he said initially. Then added, “I literally conquered my dreams. I came here and did it. Whether or not I made it, I’m still a winner in my book. I never cry, so for me, these are not sad tears. They’re happy tears knowing that I did it.”

Next Level Chef airs Thursday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FOX. Streams next day on Hulu.

1972 Breakup Anthem Ranked Among 'Top Yacht Rock Songs' of All Time Still Hits So Hard

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 7:57pm

Steely Dan is one of those bands with instantly recognizable songs. While they're considered pioneers of the yacht rock genre (even if founding member Donald Fagen doesn't particularly like being linked with the category), Steely Dan's sound is undeniably unique...and among all their tunes, one of the most distinctive would have to be "Dirty Work."

One of the standouts from their 1972 debut album, Can't Buy a Thrill (along with hit singles "Do It Again" and "Reelin' in the Years"), "Dirty Work" stands apart from the other tracks on the record for one obvious reason, which is the identity of the lead singer.

While Fagen handled most of the lead vocals on Can't Buy a Thrill, he was worried that he didn't have the skills to manage "Dirty Work," according to American Songwriter. As a solution, he called in David Palmer, who had a more "pop-friendly" style, to sing lead on both "Dirty Work" and another track, "Brooklyn."

Palmer didn't stay with Steely Dan, but as he told writer Peter Kurtz in 2016, he was still grateful for the time he spent working with Fagen and Walter Becker.

“Donald and Walter were The Dan,” Palmer said. “The rest of us were fortunate to be there. Brilliant writers both, and yes, demanding, but the result is on the record.”

Without Palmer, Steely Dan didn't perform "Dirty Work" very often, but the song's status as a classic came as a result of frequent radio play — and, years later, appearances in TV shows and movies. Tony Soprano sang along to the song while driving in a 2001 episode of The Sopranos, effectively bringing the song right back into everybody's heads; just last year, the song appeared in Paul Thomas Anderson's Oscar-winning film One Battle After Another.

It's no surprise that Ultimate Classic Rock ranked "Dirty Work" #7 on a list of "Top 50 Yacht Rock Songs" in 2025 (or that Steely Dan showed up multiple times on the list).

"In just about three minutes, Steely Dan tells a soap-opera tale of an affair between a married woman and a man who is well aware he's being played but is too hopelessly hooked to end things," wrote UCR's Allison Rapp. "By the time the song is over, we can't help but feel sorry for the narrator who is, ostensibly, just as much part of the problem as he could be the solution. Not all yacht rock songs have happy endings."

And that's why people are still can't stop listening. At the time of this writing, "Dirty Work" has been streamed 273,708,855 times on Spotify alone.

Noah Wyle’s Kids Step Out for Rare Appearance at His Hollywood Walk of Fame Star Ceremony

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 7:55pm

Actor Noah Wyle just achieved a major milestone. The Pitt star received something every actor dreams of—a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

While he keeps his private life pretty…well, private, Wyle’s family did attend the ceremony. His wife, Sara Wells, and his three children, Owen Strausser Wyle (born in 20022), Auden Wyle (born in 2005), and Frances Harper Wyle (born in 2015) joined the celeb dad on his special day. Wyle’s two eldest children, son Owen and daughter Auden, are from a previous marriage with Tracy Warbin. The 54-year-old shares his youngest daughter, Frances, with his current wife, Sara.

View this post on Instagram

During the ceremony, Noah spoke about his two loves, acting and his family. Of his star, the ER alum said, “Becoming part of that history is a true childhood dream come true...I love it more than I can say. It was all I’ve ever wanted to do.”

And of course, the doting dad thanked his brood, “To my wife Sara and my three amazing children, Owen, Aud, and Francis, you are my north, south, east, west. You are the reason I get up. You’re my motivation to try harder. You’re the source of my creativity. I thank you for your inspiration and for giving my life meaning and definition.”

Wyle posed for sweet snapshots with his family following the award ceremony. Youngest daughter Frances adorably snuggled up next to her famous father, smiling for the camera. After the group photos, Wyle took a moment for romance. Photogs snapped a playful pic of the actor giving his wife quite the passionate kiss.

Who is Noah Wyle’s wife?

The star’s current wife, Sara Wells, is an actress who has appeared in shows such as Nip/Tuck and Californication. Fans may have also noticed Wells as a patient in a recent episode (April 2) of The Pitt. The serious smacker Wyle planted on his wife after his Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony wasn’t the first public kiss the couple had shared. This pair also had a heartwarming PDA moment at the 2025 Emmys.

Who are Noah Wyle’s children?

Along with his roles on TV and on the big screen, Wyle also takes his IRL role as dad seriously. In November, the actor celebrated his eldest kiddo, Owen’s,  23rd birthday, posting a throwback photo with the caption, “Happy Birthday to the best man I know. Thank you owne for bringing so much joy, meaning, and purpose to my life.”

View this post on Instagram

Owen isn’t the only Wyle child that this dad showers with praise. On her 18th birthday, he honored his daughter, Auden: “I am so proud of the woman you’ve become and all you’ve accomplished.”

Of course, he also showers his youngest daughter, Frances, with praise, writing three years ago on her eighth birthday, “You’ve made every day and every room brighter.”

Hobby Lobby's Rustic Arch Mirror Is a Gorgeous Addition to Your Coziest Space

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 7:55pm

Natural textures and warm tones are dominating interior design trends, and one of the easiest ways to embrace this aesthetic is through thoughtfully chosen wall decor. Mirrors, in particular, are having a major moment—not just for their functionality, but for their ability to open up spaces and reflect light in ways that make rooms feel larger and more inviting. Among the most sought-after styles right now are arched silhouettes, which bring a soft architectural element that contrasts beautifully with sharp lines and modern furnishings.

An arch-shaped mirror effortlessly blends rustic charm with contemporary elegance. Its curved top creates a focal point that draws the eye upward, making ceilings appear taller, and rooms feel more expansive. Whether placed in a bedroom, living room, hallway or entryway, this mirror serves as both a decorative accent and a practical addition. Interior designers often recommend leaning or mounting a tall mirror to enhance natural light, especially in smaller spaces or darker corners of the home.

'I’m a Psychologist, and Here Are 7 Signs Your ‘Gentle Parenting’ Is Actually People-Pleasing'

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 7:23pm

I’m a child psychologist who works with cycle-breaking parents, and I see this all the time: what looks like gentle parenting is often people-pleasing in disguise.

We’ve all seen it, and many of us have been there. A parent who is endlessly negotiating a simple boundary. A toddler, who is running barefoot through Target while the parent shrugs apologetically. The pleading, bargaining and second-guessing over things that should be straightforward, like putting on shoes or throwing out trash. It’s often labeled “gentle parenting.” But is it?

Many parents have come to equate their child’s distress with failure. If my child is upset, I must be doing something wrong. If they’re crying, melting down or angry at me, I’ve somehow damaged the relationship. Whether it’s fear of social judgment or the internal discomfort of hearing your child cry like their heart just broke, the instinct becomes: fix it fast.

And the fastest way to fix it is to remove the limit.

But that’s not gentle parenting. That’s a parent trying to regulate their own discomfort by keeping their child happy.

We’ve become so focused on not “making” our children feel bad that we’ve lost sight of what our role actually is. We are not responsible for making our children feel a certain way. We are responsible for helping them handle whatever they do feel.

So how do you tell the difference? When does gentle parenting become people-pleasing? And what actually helps kids thrive? I break it down below.

Related: This Common Parenting Style ‘Teaches Children That Their Voice Doesn’t Matter,’ Expert Warns

What Is Gentle Parenting?

Vera Livchak/Getty Images

Gentle parenting is about taking a child’s emotions seriously while still holding clear limits.

It means being responsive rather than reactive. It means helping kids understand what they feel and guiding them through it, instead of shutting it down or ignoring it. It also means having expectations. Kids still need to listen, participate and function in the world around them.

Gentle parenting was always meant to be neurodevelopmentally informed, to understand the developing brain and ensure that our expectations of our child are in line with what they’re developmentally capable of. This parenting style was always about teaching kids skills, helping them connect language to their internal experience, and learn to manage their emotional states.

Somewhere along the way, gentle parenting started to get translated as never upsetting your child. Endless explaining. Avoiding “no.” Keeping things calm at all costs.

That sounds a lot more like people-pleasing than any form of parenting

Related: The Surprising Phrase You Should Stop Saying to Your Child or Grandchild—and What To Say Instead

7 Signs Your ‘Gentle Parenting’ Is Actually People-Pleasing, According to a Psychologist1. You can’t tolerate your child’s distress

One of the clearest signs that “gentle parenting” has slipped into people-pleasing is how quickly you move to stop your child’s distress.

Your child is crying, frustrated or angry. An internal voice kicks in: “Soothe them. Fast. This is an emergency.” It’s an emergency for them, and it’s an emergency for you.

Sometimes that looks like giving in. Sometimes it looks like distracting, negotiating or over-explaining. But underneath it is the same belief: this feeling shouldn’t be happening.

Many parents have internalized the idea that if their child is upset, they’ve done something wrong. That distress means disconnection. That meltdowns are a sign of bad parenting.

But here’s the truth: Distress is part of development.

Frustration is how children build tolerance. Disappointment is how they learn flexibility. Anger is how they begin to understand their own limits and yours.

When we rush to eliminate those feelings, we’re not protecting our children, we’re protecting ourselves from the discomfort of witnessing them.

Gentle parenting doesn’t mean keeping your child calm at all costs. It means staying calm enough to guide them through what they’re feeling, without needing to make it disappear.

Distress isn’t dangerous.

2. You say yes when you mean no

This is one of the most common places where people-pleasing shows up.

You set a limit, like no more screen time, no dessert before dinner, or it’s time to leave the park. The normal limits that adults set. Your child pushes back. They whine, argue and melt down. Your chest tightens. They get louder. Somewhere, deep inside, you start to panic and question yourself.

Maybe it’s the thought, "This isn’t worth it" or "they’re mad at me, this is bad." Or maybe even "I’m a bad parent."

So you change your answer. You know it’s not the right decision, but you also know it brings immediate relief.

In the moment, it works. The crying stops. Your internal tension drops. Everything feels easier.

But your child is learning just as quickly. They’re learning to ignore boundaries. They’re learning you’re not so sure of yourself. And they’re learning that conflict doesn’t get handled.

Gentle parenting isn’t about avoiding conflict. It’s about teaching kids to handle conflict well.

3. You feel responsible for your child’s feelings

The minute we’re in “But I don’t want my kid to feel that way” territory is the minute I know we’re getting dangerously close to people-pleasing.

It’s impossible for one human to make another human feel a specific way. We can set the stage for a feeling, but how it lands depends on development, the kind of day they’ve had and their own internal world.

This shows up in parenting all the time. Your child is having a rough day, so you make her favorite dinner, only to hear that it’s “gross” and that you “NEVER make anything she likes.”

Your kids are going to feel all sorts of ways. And the minute you take on the job of fixing their emotional state, you’re deciding that their feelings are your responsibility.

That doesn’t mean you can’t offer comfort, encouragement or try to lift their mood. Of course you can. But how it lands isn’t fully up to you.

Your job is to help them understand what they’re feeling and learn how to handle it. To notice the difference between frustrated and angry. To sit with disappointment. To move through envy and learn from it.

When you move the goalpost from “responsible for my kid’s feelings” to “teaching my kids how to handle feelings,” you’re no longer people-pleasing, you’re helping.

When you shift from “I have to make my child feel better” to “I can help my child handle feeling bad,” everything changes. Healthy psyches can tolerate a wide range of emotions.

Your child’s feelings are real. They’re just not yours to manage.

4. You over-explain basic boundaries

There’s been a huge rise in “gentle parenting scripts,” and they can be incredibly helpful. They give parents language for moments that are hard to think through in real time. But scripts are meant to guide you, not replace you. They’re templates.

If you find yourself turning a simple boundary into a long explanation or trying to get your child to agree with you, something has shifted.

Are you setting a limit? Are you teaching a skill? Or are you looking for buy-in?

This shows up when bedtime turns into a full discussion, or when “We’re leaving the park” becomes a negotiation. The hope is that if you explain it well enough, your child won’t be upset.

But when kids are overwhelmed, frustrated or dysregulated, their brains aren’t in a place to process long explanations. If gentle parenting is supposed to be neurodevelopmentally informed, then we must respect that. A stressed brain doesn’t absorb long speeches.

And the more you explain, the less clear the boundary becomes. A short, calm limit is more regulating than a long explanation.

When everything is negotiable, nothing feels secure.

5. You avoid separation because you’re afraid of damaging attachment

A lot of parents are walking around with a fear: What if I mess this up so badly that my child grows up and wants nothing to do with me? What if my child feels alone, the way I did? What if I’m not good at providing attachment?

So they avoid separation at all costs.

They insert themselves into moments where they don’t belong. They treat distress around separation like an emergency. A child’s mild fussing at kindergarten drop-off or an 11-year-old’s hesitation to get out of the car for an overnight school trip feels insurmountable. They step into kid-only spaces, like negotiating with a teacher over grades, trying to fix things so their child feels supported.

It’s all in the name of attachment.

But attachment just isn’t that fragile. It doesn’t fall apart the moment a child has to handle something hard on their own. It’s a survival system. It’s built to withstand frustration, disappointment and even conflict.

When we treat distress like something dangerous, kids feel less secure, not more. They don’t need us to remove every challenge. They need us to stay steady while they face it.

Attachment is meant to be internalized. It gets absorbed into the psyche during moments of separation and then supports the child until they reconnect with us.

If you’re always there, there’s no space for that process to happen. Attachment needs space to grow.

6. You parent for the audience

It’s bad enough to doubt your own judgment when it comes to parenting. It’s worse when you’re worried about the judgment of strangers.

Parenting has become so public. Instagram Reels and TikToks of unsuspecting parents in public. Online spaces where every decision gets analyzed. And anyone in Target who happens to be in earshot of your child’s meltdown. It’s no wonder parents feel on display.

If you’re a people-pleaser, social judgment is especially hard to tolerate.

If you’re avoiding conflict with your child to please an internalized, shaming voice in your head, that’s not gentle parenting. That’s an inability to sit with your own discomfort. And in that moment, your attention splits. Part of you is with your child. Part of you is in the room, imagining what everyone else is thinking.

So you adjust.

You soften a limit you would have held. You rush to fix the behavior. You choose what will look better, not what will hold better.

Your child feels that immediately. They don’t experience it as thoughtfulness. They experience it as inconsistency. The rules change depending on who’s watching.

Kids don’t need you to manage the room. They need you to stay steady in it.

7. You confuse empathy with agreement

Empathy has become one of the most talked-about parts of gentle parenting, and for good reason. Kids need to feel understood. It’s great to empathize with a child’s distress or frustration.

But somewhere along the way, empathy started to mean agreement.

Your child is upset, and you validate the feeling. That’s good. So it sort of makes sense to then give in to the emotion.

They don’t want to leave the park, so you stay longer. They don’t want to do homework, so it gets pushed off. They say “Yuck!” the first time they experience a new food, so you don’t ask them to taste it. They’re frustrated about a boundary, so you don’t uphold it.

It makes sense. If your child is upset, and you’re empathizing, changing the situation that makes them upset feels like the logical next step. If I can see how much this distresses you, it feels cruel to cause it, right?

But sometimes, important things do cause mild distress. No one looks forward to memorizing multiplication tables or brushing their teeth. Most of us don’t approach broccoli with the same enthusiasm as ice cream. Cleaning up is never unmitigated joy.

However, discomfort isn’t dangerous. And it’s not helpful to teach children that discomfort means we always change our minds.

“I get that you’re upset” and “We’re still leaving” can exist in the same sentence.

Understanding your child doesn’t mean changing the boundary.

Why This Kind of Parenting Backfires

When everything is negotiable, kids don’t feel more secure. They feel less sure of where they stand.

They push more because the boundary doesn’t feel settled. They get more frustrated because no one is really holding the line. And over time, they don’t build the skills they need to handle disappointment, frustration or conflict.

Parents end up exhausted. Kids end up dysregulated. No one feels better.

The Most Important Things To Remember if You’re Gentle Parenting

Gentle parenting is about helping your child move through discomfort with you there.

If you find yourself slipping into people-pleasing, come back to a few simple anchors.

  • Your child’s distress is not an emergency. It can feel urgent, especially if you’re sensitive to emotions or grew up around a lot of dysregulation. But not every feeling needs to be fixed. Some feelings need to be felt.
  • You don’t need your child’s agreement to set a boundary. You can be kind, clear and firm at the same time. That combination is what helps kids feel safe.
  • Your job is to help your child handle whatever they feel. Frustration, disappointment, anger, envy. These are all essential parts of development.
  • You’re not meant to be there all the time. Attachment means you’re in your child’s mind even when you’re not physically present. It’s okay to let kids navigate kid-only spaces. It’s okay to let them try, struggle, and figure things out without you smoothing the path.

The goal isn’t to keep your kids happy all the time. The goal is to raise competent future adults.

Let your child feel it and help them handle it.
