The Genius Method To Make Garlic Bread 10x Better

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 6:25pm

Garlic bread is one of those sides that's hard to mess up—but also surprisingly easy to make better. I've always made it in the oven, but after testing it in the air fryer, the difference was immediate. It came out faster, crispier, with golden edges and a soft, buttery center that's hard to beat. It also took way less effort, which is always a win on busy days.

The best part is how easy it is to pull off. With just a few basic ingredients and about five minutes, I was able to turn out garlic bread that tasted like something you'd get at a restaurant. I tested it a couple of ways, including a fresh version with a baguette and ciabatta with homemade garlic butter, as well as a store-bought, frozen Texas toast, to see how each would hold up. Both worked, but the air fryer consistently delivered a better texture without the wait.

What surprised me most was how quickly everything came together. There's no need to wait for the oven to preheat, and you don't have to babysit it as much. It's a small upgrade that's easy to make, but makes a noticeable difference. Once you try it this way, it's hard to go back.

What Is Air Fryer Garlic Bread?

Fred Hernandez

Air fryer garlic bread is exactly what it sounds like: classic garlic bread made using an air fryer instead of a conventional oven. After testing it myself, the results were noticeably different. It was my first time making garlic bread this way, and it turned out to be much easier than expected.

Because of the way hot air circulates inside the air fryer, the bread crisps up faster and more evenly. The butter melts quickly, the garlic toasts just enough and the edges get that golden crunch while the inside stays soft. It's the same idea as oven-baked garlic bread—just faster and, in many cases, better.

Ingredients You'll Need

Fred Hernandez

You don't need much to make great garlic bread, but the quality of each ingredient matters. For my test, I used a mix of baguette and ciabatta with homemade garlic butter, along with a store-bought frozen Texas toast to compare.

  • Bread: A crusty loaf works best. Think baguette, ciabatta or sourdough. These hold up well and deliver a crisp exterior.
  • Butter: Use softened butter, not melted. This helps it spread more evenly without soaking into the bread too much.
  • Garlic: Freshly minced garlic gives the strongest flavor. Garlic powder works in a pinch, but fresh is worth it if you have it.
  • Parsley or herbs: I used fresh parsley for a brighter flavor, but dried parsley, basil, or Italian seasoning all work.
  • Parmesan cheese (optional): Adds a salty, savory finish. Freshly grated melts better than pre-shredded.

If you want to take it a step further, a little mozzarella added at the end gives you that melty, cheesy finish.

How To Make Air Fryer Garlic Bread

Fred Hernandez

This comes together quickly, so it helps to have everything ready before you start.

1. Make the garlic butter

In a bowl, mix together softened butter, minced garlic, parsley and parmesan (if using). I used a microplane to grate frozen parmesan, which worked well and let me achieve a fine texture without thawing it first. Stir until everything is evenly combined.

2. Prep the bread

Slice your bread in half lengthwise, or cut it into thick slices. Spread the garlic butter mixture generously over each piece, making sure to cover edge to edge.

3. Arrange in the air fryer

Place the bread in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Avoid stacking or overlapping to allow the air to circulate properly.

4. Air fry

Cook at 350°F to 380°F, depending on your air fryer and how crispy you like it. I used a Bella four-quart slim air fryer and cooked a baguette at 350°F for about five minutes, resulting in a crisp exterior and a soft center.

For ciabatta, I increased the temperature slightly to 360°F and cooked it for about seven minutes, resulting in a crispier finish while keeping the inside soft.

5. Serve immediately

Once the edges are golden and the butter is melted, remove and serve right away. Garlic bread is best hot and fresh.

Can I Cook Frozen Garlic Bread in an Air Fryer?

Yes—and it's actually one of the easiest ways to make it.

Frozen garlic bread can go straight from the freezer into the air fryer with no need to thaw. Simply place the slices in a single layer in the basket and cook at about 370°F to 380°F for five to seven minutes, until heated through and golden on the edges.

Because air fryers cook quickly, it's a good idea to check around the five-minute mark to ensure you have the perfect level of crispness. The result is crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and ready in minutes without preheating an oven.

How To Heat Store-Bought Garlic Bread in an Air Fryer

Fred Hernandez

Store-bought garlic bread doesn't usually come with air fryer instructions, so I used the oven directions on the package as a starting point and adjusted from there.

I placed the slices in a single layer in the air fryer and cooked them at 375°F for five minutes. At that point, the edges were crisp, but the center was still a bit too soft. I added about two more minutes, which made a noticeable difference in texture.

About seven minutes in, the garlic bread came out with a crisp exterior and a more fully heated, airy center. It still stayed soft inside, but not doughy.

If you're heating store-bought garlic bread in the air fryer, 375°F for about six to seven minutes worked best in my testing. Just check around the five-minute mark to avoid over-browning, as results may vary slightly depending on your air fryer.

Air Fryer Garlic Bread Recipe Tips and Tricks

A few small adjustments can make a big difference here:

  • Use softened butter, not melted: I found that softened butter spreads more evenly and stays on the surface, while melted butter can soak in and make the bread soggy.
  • Don't overcrowd the basket: Air fryers rely on airflow. When I kept the slices in a single layer, they crisped much more evenly.
  • Check early and often: Garlic can burn quickly. I started checking around the five-minute mark to avoid over-browning.
  • Add cheese at the end: If you're using mozzarella or extra cheese, add it during the last one to two minutes so it melts without burning.
  • Choose the right bread: Sturdy breads like baguette or ciabatta hold up best in my testing and offer the ideal contrast between crispy and soft.
  • Skip preheating (most of the time): I didn't preheat my air fryer, and it still crisped up quickly without overcooking the garlic.

Air-fryer garlic bread is a small upgrade that makes a big difference. It's faster, easier and delivers better texture with minimal effort. Whether you're making it from scratch or heating up store-bought garlic bread, it's a simple way to level up any meal.

Legendary Rocker, 77, Stuns Fans Performing '70s Classic: 'He Still Sounds Incredible'

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 6:17pm

Rock and roll's very own Golden God, Robert Plant, played the last concert of his spring tour with Saving Grace and Suzi Dian this week...and any fans who caught this special performance were very lucky, indeed.

In a fitting choice for a rock deity, the concert was held on April 7 at NYC's Cathedral of St. John the Divine (presented by Le Poisson Rouge), and videos show just how perfect the dramatically beautiful setting worked for Plant's dreamy (but rocking) playlist.

As Brooklyn Vegan reported, the show was a mix of songs from the 2025 Saving Grace album, such as "Higher Rock" and "As I Roved Out," and others, including Led Zeppelin's “Ramble On,” “Four Sticks,” and “The Rain Song." The encore closed with the band's beloved cover of Low’s “Everybody’s Song."

Fans on YouTube couldn't get over how fantastic Plant sounded performing "The Rain Song."

"It's amazing how well Robert's voice has held up through the years. He still sounds incredible!!!" one person wrote, with a second adding, "RP is just such a great performer through the years and keeps perfecting it as time goes along."

"Love this arrangement. Thanks for sharing," raved someone else, as another called the clip "lovely."

Also this week, Plant stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, playing "Higher Rock" during the broadcast — and then sticking around to play "Ramble On" as an online bonus. (Could the Tolkien-obsessed Stephen Colbert have had something to do with Plant's decision to bust out the classic Zep tune about Gollum and Mordor? Perhaps.)

Unfortunately for American fans, when Plant heads out on the road next time, he'll be headed overseas; according to his official website, his next show is scheduled for May 10 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, after which he'll be visiting such locations as Brazil, Croatia, Bulgaria and Greece.

1977 Power Ballad Named No. 1 Hit Song Became a Breakup Anthem

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 5:38pm

Forty-nine years ago, '70s soft-rocker Mary MacGregor created a hit that topped the Billboard Hot 100, "Torn Between Two Lovers."

Released in late 1976 as the lead single and title track for her debut album of the same name, "Torn Between Two Lovers" became a massive success. A few months after its release, the track climbed the Billboard Hot 100 chart, peaking at the No. 1 spot for two consecutive weeks in February 1977. The track also peaked at No. 1 on the U.S. Easy Listening chart and No. 4 on the U.K. Singles Chart.

Produced by Peter Yarrow of the folk trio Peter, Paul & Mary and Barry Beckett via Ariola America Records, the song is recognizable for its breezy melody and smooth arrangement. MacGregor entrances listeners with a strong vocal performance over top sweeping strings, creating a definitive ballad and easy-listening experience.

Folk group Peter, Paul, and Mary perform, Chicago, Illinois, July 31, 1983.

Written by Yarrow and Phillip Jarrell, "Torn Between Two Lovers" explores a taboo breakup theme: a love triangle. The track centers on a woman confessing to her husband that she has fallen in love with another man. Though the news is difficult to deliver, the narrator pleads with her husband for understanding, explaining that she is in love with both men.

Despite the song's positive reception, it prompted speculation that the lyrics were inspired by biographical events in MacGregor's life. Because of this suspicion, MacGregor grew to despise the song, believing its rigorous promotion schedule ultimately contributed to the dissolution of her own marriage.

Regardless of the track's risqué themes, it continues to persevere as a breakup anthem, resonating with modern audiences through streaming platforms. On Spotify alone, "Torn Between Two Lovers" has garnered over 33 million streams, attesting to its longstanding relevance.

Best-Selling Author’s Novel Ranked Among ‘Must-Read Books’ Is Having a Major Moment

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 5:37pm

Margo’s Got Money Troubles, by Rufi Thorpe, got all kinds of attention when it hit shelves back in June 2024. With popular book clubs recommending it to their members and Time magazine shouting it out as one of its must-read books, everyone and their best friend were talking about Margo and her financial foes.

Margo’s Got Money Troubles offers a radical look at a young woman coming into her own in a world that would prefer she stay dependent,” Time writes.

View this post on Instagram

Now, the hit novel is back in the spotlight, thanks to A24 adapting the read into a television series. Starring Elle Fanning as the titular, newly pregnant co-ed who turns to OnlyFans to make a buck and Michelle Pfeiffer as Margo’s single mother, the eight-part series hits Apple TV+ this month.

Related: ‘The Testaments’ Isn’t the Only Book Adaptation Happening in April 2026 — Here Are 4 More Not to Miss

SXSW festival goers were treated to the first three episodes at the Paramount Theatre in Austin, Texas, last month, with IndieWire reviewing it as “quite charming” and calling Pfeiffer’s contribution “solid gold.” Esquire called it “star-studded, smart, and sexy.” And The Hollywood Reporter wrote it up as “endearingly offbeat,” while noting that Pfeiffer and Fanning “sparkle.”

As screen adaptations often do, creators and showrunners take artistic liberties with the narrative they’re given. For her part, author Thorpe was all good with whatever David E. Kelley and his team wanted to do, telling THR, “I was very comfortable with the adaptation diverging significantly, I actually like it when they do that. So I wanted someone who had a vision.”

Nick Offerman and Nicole Kidman round out the cast as former pro wrestlers (yes, you read that right). If you haven’t read the book and are the type who prefers to do that before watching adaptations, now’s a good time to do so. The first three episodes drop Wednesday, April 15, on Apple TV+.

Award-Winning Author's Novel Ranked 'Worst Rated Book' on Goodreads

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 5:33pm

Few novels have sparked as much discussion among readers as Besos entre líneas.

The Spanish-language novel by May R. Ayamonte and Esmeralda Verdú has now been ranked No. 1 on Goodreads' list of "Worst Rated Books." The negative ratings reflect reader sentiment, with users feeling that the list's titles didn't meet expectations, highlighting the divided reactions to the book that have emerged over time.

Originally published in 2016, Besos entre líneas tells the story of a teenage girl balancing school and family life while maintaining a strong passion for reading. The authors weave together elements of identity, online presence and romance, ideas that resonated with much of its young adult audience when it first debuted.

At the time of its release, the novel drew attention for its contemporary premise and its connection to digital book culture. Its focus on social media and reading communities gave it a modern angle that aligned with shifting reader habits during the mid-2010s.

However, the same elements that helped define the book have also contributed to ongoing criticism. The novel is rated 2.5 stars on Goodreads, with 43% of the ratings being 1-star. Many reader reviews raised concerns around its writing style, character development and portrayal of relationships, which have contributed to its growing negative reception.

The top review reflects the intensity of these reactions: "The protagonist—whom the book claims is 'very strong'—actually spends her time committing one stupid blunder after another; she is so selfish that I simply cannot wrap my head around why the authors chose to develop a character in such a way."

Despite this, Ayamonte and Verdú have continued to build their careers. Ayamonte, in particular, has gone on to publish additional works and earn the Edebé Prize for Young Adult Literature, solidifying her place in Spanish-language literature beyond her debut.

Rankings like this often reflect general audience reactions rather than professional critique. In this case, the novel's placement reflects how clearly reader responses have defined its reputation.

Sandy Duncan Recalls the Hilarious Reason Burt Reynolds Told Her ‘I Wanted To Kill You'

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 5:23pm

Sandy Duncan is looking back on a hilarious run-in with screen legend Burt Reynolds.

Duncan, 80, became a legend of the stage with her role in Peter Pan and later became a TV staple thanks to a role on The Hogan Family. With endless film roles under her belt, Duncan is known as one of Hollywood's most adaptable stars. And as it turns out, she can even tackle one of the most famous children's television characters.

During an appearance on Nostalgia Tonight with Joe Sibilia, Duncan spoke about her role on the Barney & the Backyard Gang videos, which came out in 1988, before the series headed to PBS and became an international phenomenon. Looking for work during the writer's strike, the opportunity gave her a chance to spend time with her family.

"When I got there and saw what it was, I went, 'Oh my God, what have I done?' " said Duncan, PEOPLE reported. "We filmed it, and it was very much a [children 's] show. It ended because I had to go back to work and they had shot their pilot, which I did three episodes. And they came out to have a meeting with me and they said, they all had Texas accents, and they said, 'Sandy, now we're going to do a series of it and we're going to put it on, if you do it, they'll put it on PBS... we're going to have plush toys and do all this.' "

Duncan, of course, moved on, but the show evolved into Barney & Friends, which became a staple of the '90s.

What Did Burt Reynolds Say to Sandy Duncan?

Barney went down in American history as a notorious children's character. However, not everyone was a huge fan.

"Burt Reynolds, I can't say [where] exactly, but we were at a big gathering, one of those events, and somebody behind my back creeped up and whispered in my ear, 'I wanted to kill you,' because he had a toddler, and he said, 'All we have on television is you and Barney,'" Duncan recalled.

Check out this hilarious flashback from Duncan's role on Barney & the Backyard Gang below!

Aldi Brought Back a $5 Fan Favorite That Will Make Your Home Smell Very Familiar

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 5:05pm

I love a company that doesn't take itself too seriously. Like, yes, give me great products and good prices, but if you can also make me laugh? I'm loyal for life. It's even better when a retailer is clearly in on the joke, fully aware of our collective obsessions, little shopping quirks, and the random things we all suddenly decide we need.

That's exactly why Aldi keeps winning me over. It has mastered that sweet spot of being both practical and playful, and every so often, they drop something that feels like a wink to their customers. Case in point: the candle that basically broke the internet last year, or at least the computers of Aldi fans chomping at the bit to get one.

Kirkton House 3-Wick Burning Cash Candle in Volcano Mist, $4.99 at Aldi

Aldi

If you recall, Aldi hosted a giveaway of their Burning Cash-scented candle in 2025. Anyone who wanted in on the freebie had to be among the first to click a link to the promotion and quickly enter their info to snag a set of two candles. (One for you, one for a friend.) The candles were gone in a flash, leaving many Aldi fans disappointed.

But alas, the Aldi Burning Cash Candle is back; however, it will cost you. The candle costs $4.99, and this year it's a three-wick version instead of the single-wick freebies the grocery chain gave away last year. It will be available in the Aldi Finds aisle beginning April 15.

Related: Sam's Club Just Dropped a Gorgeous 12-Piece Stoneware Set That Instantly Brightens Your Table

Over on Reddit, Aldi fans who managed to score a Burning Cash candle reported it smelled intensely smoky.

"It's very smoky smelling," wrote one Redditor. "They really tried with that 'money on fire' smell. Not a nice, light scent."

In 2026, however, the candle is referred to as a "volcano mist" scent, and having been sent the product to preview, I'm not getting a heavy smokiness at all. In fact, it reminds me of a lighter version of the Capri Blue Volcano candle. It's very pretty and not overpowering.

Of course, if candles aren't your thing, there's still plenty of other items that might pique your interest in the Aldi Finds aisle right now. Like a foldable reclining outdoor chair, a chic bamboo lazy Susan to help organize your kitchen, and a pair of gold sandals you'll want to wear all spring and summer long.

Jell-O Fans Are Already Drooling Over This Nostalgic New Pudding Flavor: ‘Yum!’

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 5:00pm

Jell-O is getting a new ready-to-enjoy pudding flavor next month, and with how excited fans are, we expect it to fly off shelves.

Earlier this week, Kraft Heinz—the parent company of the iconic gelatin dessert and instant pudding brand—quietly updated its website to feature a new ready-to-eat treat inspired by a classic dessert and reminiscent of one Jell-O offered over a decade ago.

Loyal Jell-O enthusiasts may remember the birthday cake-flavored pudding treats it offered for a brief time in 2012, which quickly topped critics' lists before disappearing from shelves. While the company isn't bringing that exact snack back, Jell-O is gearing up to launch a new Birthday Cake Pudding Cup.

Jell-O To Launch New Birthday Cake-Flavored Pudding Treat This Spring

Parade confirmed with the brand that the upcoming birthday cake-inspired pudding is a completely new offering, different from what it offered 14 years ago.

Related: Jell-O Revives a Fan-Favorite After 25-Year Hiatus

The new product's pudding base features a consistent birthday-cake-flavored pudding throughout the cup, whereas the previous recipe had a chocolate layer in the base. The toppings have also changed, according to the brand. The original cups used to include just rainbow sprinkles, but now they feature a confetti-and-rainbow-sprinkle cookie crumble.

It offers a "simple yet decadent" twist on the nostalgic and festive favorite, as described in its product listing, and each package contains two pudding cups with 140 calories per serving. Those worried about allergens should know this pudding is made with dairy, and the topping is wheat-based, so it's not gluten-free. Detailed nutritional information is available here.

As for why the comeback after all these years, the company suggested it's because birthday cake-flavored items have become so popular, calling it a "mainstream flavor anchor" now and "another way for Jell-O to bring celebration into everyday moments."

And after images of the new product began circulating online, fans proved the company right, erupting with excitement over the release.

"That looks yummy!!!" one Instagram user cheered.

View this post on Instagram

"Yes please!!🙌❤️😍🥰," a second agreed.

"Birthday cake anything gimme," a third gushed before signing off with a drooling face emoji. "🤤."

"Ohhh I’d love to try this 😍," another declared without hesitation, while a different fan said it sounds so "good."

"All the big back stuff coming for summer 🥲😂😩," one more joked.

Where Will the New Birthday Cake Jell-O Pudding Cups Be Available?

Jell-O's new Birthday Cake Pudding Cups will be available in the refrigerated section of retailers and grocery stores that typically carry other ready-to-enjoy Jell-O products beginning this May (prices may vary).

The newcomer should be on shelves at least through the summer.

Michael Jackson Biopic Gets Limited Edition Popcorn Bucket You Can Wear and Fans Are Blown Away

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 4:39pm

Collectible popcorn buckets have become a full-blown phenomenon, and this latest one might just be the most creative yet.

Cinemark Theaters has unveiled a special edition bucket for the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic Michael, and it doubles as a wearable hat.

The bucket is designed to look like the King of Pop's iconic black fedora, complete with the film's title italicized along the side. It measures 15 inches wide and 5 inches tall, holds up to 85 ounces of popcorn, and can be worn on your head once you've finished snacking.

The bucket costs $21.95 and was released onlineThursday, April 9 and promptly sold out. But not to worry, the bucket will also hit theaters nationwide when Michael releases later this spring.

As for the film itself, the casting couldn't be more fitting. Jaafar Jackson, who is the 29-year-old son of Jermaine Jackson and nephew of Michael, will be making his film debut in the title role. Jaafar first learned about the project when he came across an article announcing that producer Graham King, the man behind Bohemian Rhapsody, had acquired the rights to tell Michael's story. Two months later, King reached out directly.

What followed was a two-year process of auditioning, working with an acting coach, and gradually transforming into one of the most recognizable figures in music history. Jaafar has admitted he never set out to be an actor (he had his sights set on professional golf before pivoting to music) but growing up watching his uncle's videos and films laid an unexpected foundation.

"That process of seeing me slowly transform into Michael was emotional," he said on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on April 2, describing it as both "surreal and a spiritual moment at the same time."

Michael hits theaters April 24.

An iconic actress who starred on The Waltons and earned four Emmy Awards during the height of her career is celebrating her 87th birthday. Michael Learned, who played Olivia Walton on The Waltons, was born on April 9, 1939.

The Waltons aired from 1972 to 1981, and Learned starred on the show through eight of its nine seasons. In September 2025, Learned talked with Steve Kmetko on his Still Here Hollywood podcast about her decision to leave when she did.

Learned said she never regretted her decision to leave The Waltons. "They didn't know what to do with me...as an actor, it was just boring," she admitted.

She recalled that as she bid farewell to the series, "I wept because we were such a family, even the crew, we were all really close and like a family." However, Learned added, "But on the other hand, I got tired of [the show]."

Learned may have grown bored by the lack of storyline for her character on The Waltons, but she did earn three Emmy Awards for her work. She won the best or outstanding actress in a drama category in 1973, 1974, and 1976.

Learned had been acting for a decade before landing The Waltons. Despite all of her previous experience, playing Olivia Walton was the role that catapulted her to stardom.

In 1981, Learned debuted as Mary Benjamin on the series Nurse. She won an Emmy in 1982 for that role, too.

After Nurse ended, Learned continued to act. She appeared in dozens of primetime series, and Learned took on some soap opera work over the years, as well. Some may remember that in 2011, Learned took on the role of Katherine Chancellor on The Young and the Restless for 11 episodes.

Despite leaving before The Waltons before the end of its run, Learned did reconnect with the cast for some subsequent Waltonsmovies. The last acting role Learned took on was to play Catherine Dahmer, the grandmother of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, in five episodes of the 2022 series Monster.

When Learned was asked about her legacy during the Kmetko podcast, she replied, "I don't care. I don't need to have a legacy. I just want my kids to speak kindly of me, and they do."

1997 Epic Called ‘Boring’ by Its Star Became the Biggest Film of the 20th Century

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 4:37pm

On April 10, 1912, the magnificent RMS Titanic left the port of Southampton, England, embarking on a maiden voyage that would never reach its final destination, instead sinking four days later in the North Atlantic after colliding with a massive iceberg.

Its doomed journey, however, would later inspire the century’s biggest movie.

Widely regarded as the defining film of the 20th century, James Cameron’s Titanic was a colossal success. It was the first film to break into the big B’s, eventually totaling more than $2 billion against a $200 million budget. It was nominated for a record 14 Academy Awards, winning a whopping 11. And it gifted the world with unforgettable characters, legendary lines, and an iconic movie song whose cultural impact will always go on and on.

Of course, Titanic did have its haters. One of which was its leading man, Leonardo DiCaprio. In the early days of the film’s production, according to People, the actor chosen to play Jack Dawson, the penniless third-class passenger who romances the corset off of the affluent Rose Dewitt-Bukater, played by Kate Winslet, was initially resistant to accepting the role, calling the script “boring.”

Side note: We can only imagine DiCaprio hadn't gotten to Act II of the script, when the narrative shifts from epic romance to epic adventure, with Cameron meticulously capturing every harrowing detail of the sinking ship.

“He didn’t want to do a leading man,” Cameron told the outlet at the 2023 Golden Globes. “I had to really twist his arm to be in the movie. He didn’t want to do it. He thought it was boring.”

These days, DiCaprio has changed his tune, sharing with Deadline last December his immense pride in being part of the film, calling it a transformative experience that allowed him the freedom to steer his own career.

"No regrets,” he said. “I look back at that film and realize the thanks and the appreciation that I have for being a part of it, and to have been able to … be able to be the conductor of my own choices since. That has been just the greatest gift."

So, yes, he loves the film now … even if he’s never seen it a full way through; the actor notoriously doesn’t watch his own movies. But that doesn’t mean you can’t!

Stream the epic romance-adventure genre hybrid again in all its awe, heartbreak, and cinematic glory to remember those lost on that fateful April 14.

Natasha Lyonne Responds After Being Removed From Airplane and Deemed 'Out of It'

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 4:24pm

Just hours after it was reported that actress Natasha Lyonne was escorted off a Delta Airlines flight, she has a few things to say on the matter. Her message, however, is subject to interpretation.

Lyonne allegedly boarded a Los Angeles to New York City Delta Airlines flight directly following her appearance at the Euphoria Season 3 Premiere on Tuesday evening. Reports say she was acting "out of it" and not following the safety instructions from the flight crew, which ultimately got her escorted off the plane.

In response to the reports, Lyonne took to X not long ago, saying: "My heart is with all the unpaid TSA agents at our airports. Sure was looking forward to speaking honestly with @DrewBarrymore yesterday but guess wasn’t in the cards. Who owns page six/New York Post now again?"

My heart is with all the unpaid TSA agents at our airports. 💞 Sure was looking forward to speaking honestly with @DrewBarrymore yesterday but guess wasn’t in the cards. Who owns page six/New York Post now again?

— natasha lyonne (@nlyonne) April 9, 2026

It would be purely speculative to try to interpret exactly what the Poker Face actress is saying in her message, but here are the facts about what we do know:

  • Lyonne is referring to the fact that Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) agents have been forced to work without pay (since February 14) due to the government shutdown and because they are categorized as essential workers. Last week, some but not all TSA officers reportedly received back pay; however, there is still uncertainty about back pay and ongoing pay for all TSA agents until Congress reaches a deal.
  • The actress was scheduled to appear on The Drew Barrymore Show on Wednesday, April 8, 2026. Lyonne presumably missed this scheduled appearance because she was escorted off the flight to New York City.
  • Page Six and the New York Post are owned by News Corp, a global media conglomerate controlled by the Murdoch family.

And for whatever it's worth, Lyonne also posted this new photo on her Instagram, too, but appears to only be shouting out the crew who put together her look for the photo. There is no mention of the incident aboard the flight.

View this post on Instagram

A couple weeks ago, Lyonne posted a hopeful update following her publicly confirmed relapse, saying, “Proud to report this kid is doing a whole lot better & back on her feet.” The Orange Is the New Black actress has been very candid about her issues with substance use over the years.

One of Hollywood's Biggest Stars, 83, Suffered From Severe Depression Before Discovering Acting on Accident

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 4:15pm

Before Harrison Ford was outrunning boulders in Indiana Jones or leading rebellions in Star Wars, he was a college student with severe depression who could barely make it to class.

In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter shared on Thursday, April 9, the 83-year-old actor reflected on his time at Ripon College in Wisconsin, where he majored in philosophy and, by his own account, largely confined himself to his single dorm room.

"I would get up out of my single bed, go to a phone, order a pizza, go back and lay down in bed until the pizza came," Ford told the outlet. "I would eat the pizza, throw the wrappers in the corner, go back to sleep."

And if he did make it to campus, he often couldn't bring himself to go inside. "On the rare occasion I did go to the classroom, I would often touch the door on the outside of the building, and turn around and walk back," he said.

Ford was honest about the fact that what he was experiencing went well beyond ordinary college struggles. "I was more than depressed. I think I was ill. I was socially ill, psychologically not well," he explained to the outlet. The turning point came when he signed up for a drama class completely by accident.

"I accidentally—in an attempt to get my grade-point-average up—took a class called 'drama' without reading the full description of the class," he said, adding that he had no idea he'd actually have to perform. “It started out in the description talking about reading and analyzing plays, but I didn’t read the part where it said that you had to actually be in them as well, so that was a surprise.”

What he found inside that classroom surprised him. He discovered he was "amongst storytellers"—people he'd written off as fellow geeks who turned out to be "some of the most interesting people I knew."

He ultimately left Ripon without a degree, but that accidental drama class set everything in motion. "It really changed my world, changed my life," Ford said.

And it's a story Ford has clearly been sitting with. He shared a version of it when he accepted the SAG-AFTRA Lifetime Achievement Award on March 1, and in a full-circle moment, he's heading back to a college campus. Arizona State University announced that Ford will deliver the commencement address to its undergraduate Class of 2026 on May 11 in Tempe, where he will also receive an honorary Doctor of Arts and Humane Letters degree.

These Are the 7 Best Jean Colors for Spring 2026, According to a Celebrity Stylist

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 4:11pm

Now that spring is in full swing, it's time to update our seasonal wardrobes—including investing in trending denim, which means taking notes on the best jean colors for spring 2026!

This season, there are all kinds of jean colors to look out for that are perfect for outdoor walks, nights outs and just about everything in between. Think unexpected shades and washes that'll go with every spring outfit and activity.

Plus, according to celebrity stylist Victoria Gentile—who has styled stars like Love Island USA's Huda Mustafa and Jamaican singer Popcaan—there are so many more options available than you might realize. "Denim is way more diverse than just blue jeans," she tells Parade.

If you're on the hunt for your next great jean wash as we celebrate being done with winter, Gentile suggests these seven best denim colors for spring 2026 and provides inspiring examples of how to style them.

The Most Common Colors of Denim

According to Gentile, there are a ton of great options when it comes to looking for the right color of denim.

The first two primary washes are essentially separated into two categories. The celebrity stylist explains that these include light washes, such as "soft, faded blues," as well as mid-washes like "classic everyday blue."

Others are washes that are not as typical might come in a darker wash like a "dark indigo."

"This is a deep, rich blue that feels more elevated," she says.

Of course, there are a slew of other washes, but the most popular other ones include "black denim, gray or charcoal," she shares, "as well as white or ecru for a cleaner look."

"You’re also seeing more directional tones like vintage acid wash, dirty wash, which is a slightly tinted wash with brown or yellow undertones," she explains. "And even colored denim like soft pastels or earthy neutrals. The difference really comes down to how saturated, faded or tinted the fabric is—and that completely changes the vibe of an outfit."

What Jean Colors Are in Style?

Looking relaxed and trying to give off a collected, casual look is so in, shares Gentile, as she says a lot of jean color trends for spring are really about "that effortless, lived-in feel."

"Vintage-inspired washes are leading," she tells Parade. "Think light and mid-wash denim with a slightly worn look."

Another trending shift is turning towards lighter shades of denim, such as ecru and off-white denim, the celeb stylist points out.

"It feels really fresh and elevated for everyday wear," she explains, adding, "Dark indigo is having a moment again, too, especially styled in a more polished, almost tailored way."

But if you really want to be en vogue, "gray denim and muted, earthy tones" are the way to go.

"Washed olive or brown-tinted denim are everywhere," she states. "They give you something different while still being super wearable."

What Colors Go With a Jean Jacket?

Jean jackets are versatile, but choosing just the right colors to match a jean jacket can be hard to pinpoint, depending on the look you're going for.

"If you want something really clean and intentional, I always recommend mixing washes, like a light wash jacket with darker jeans, or vice versa," says Gentile. "That contrast makes the outfit feel styled rather than matchy."

That being said, "If you love a full denim moment, a matching set in the same wash can look amazing, especially in mid or dark tones; it feels very put-together right now," she tells Parade.

And for those looking into a more sophisticated look that they can wear out to dinner or dress up a little bit, Gentile says pairing white or black denim, in particular, with a jean jacket can look really polished.

"For something a bit more elevated, pairing a denim jacket with white/ecru jeans or even black denim is such an easy win," she shares. "It breaks up the look while still keeping that denim-on-denim feel."

7 Best Jean Colors for Spring 2026, According to a Celebrity Stylist

If you're looking for the next great jean color for spring, Gentile says these work for the upcoming season because they "feel lighter, more versatile and are easy to mix into outfits."

1. Light wash blue

Moritz Scholz/Getty Images

A must-have for spring, this denim wash is the ultimate color this season due to how clean it looks.

"Light wash denim is always a spring staple because it feels fresh, effortless and seasonally appropriate," says Gentile. "This year, the slightly vintage, worn-in versions are especially popular, giving that 'off-duty' look."

2. Vintage mid-wash blue

Edward Berthelot/Getty Images

Now here's a wash you can pull off any day of the week. A vintage mid-wash blue works so well because you can pretty much pair it with anything in your wardrobe. It can look both casual and upscale, depending on how you style it.

"Mid-wash is that perfect in-between, not too light, not too dark, making it incredibly versatile," Gentile says. "It’s an easy everyday option that still feels styled."

3. Dark indigo

Moritz Scholz/Getty Images

Dark indigo wasn't always the go-to denim wash for a lot of people. But recently, it's had a bit of a resurgence, according to Gentile. Plus, it works best for those higher-end outfits.

"Dark indigo is making a strong comeback, especially in more tailored or structured silhouettes," she states. "It feels elevated and polished compared to lighter washes, which is why people are leaning into it for dressier, more refined outfits. It’s a great way to make denim feel a bit more sophisticated."

4. Ecru or off-white

Ferda Demir/Getty Images

"Ecru and off-white denim instantly freshen up your wardrobe for spring," says Gentile. "They offer a softer alternative to stark white and feel more wearable day-to-day."

Not only that, but the shade has been getting a lot of love lately because it's both effortless and gives off a nominal aesthetic.

"This shade has been trending because it gives a clean, minimal and elevated look without trying too hard," she says.

5. Washed black

Claudio Lavenia/Getty Images

Not everyone is into the light, airy colors and textures of spring, and that's OK. According to Gentile, a washed black jean is perfect for those who still want to maintain some attitude in their everyday wear—even if it does happen to be the season of soft colors.

"Washed black denim is perfect if you still want a bit of edge going into spring," she shares. "The faded effect softens the heaviness of true black, making it more seasonally appropriate. It’s popular right now because it balances cool and casual while still feeling intentional."

6. Soft gray

Edward Berthelot/Getty Images

A soft gray shade works perfectly if you're tired of your old blue jeans.

"Gray denim is a great neutral alternative to classic blue or black," says Gentile. "The softer tones feel modern and slightly unexpected, which is why they’re trending this season."

7. Earth-toned denim

Rachpoot/Bauer-Griffin/GC Images

Palettes that are rooted in olive greens and brown hues are endlessly a good choice for spring, and they're trending right now, according to Gentile.

"Earth-toned denim is having a moment because it ties into the broader shift toward warm, natural palettes," she explains. "These tones feel grounded, unique and still very wearable. They add interest to an outfit while staying subtle and easy to style."

76 Years Ago Today, Legendary Entertainer Marked His First National TV Appearance

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 4:04pm

Seventy-six years ago today, on April 9, 1950, legendary entertainer Bob Hope made his first national television appearance, an event that helped change the future of entertainment.

The moment came on Easter Sunday when he hosted the NBC variety special Star Spangled Revue, widely recognized as his official debut on network television.

The show, sponsored by Frigidaire, introduced Hope to a coast-to-coast TV audience for the first time. It also featured a strong lineup of performers, including Douglas Fairbanks Jr., Beatrice Lillie, Dinah Shore and a young Frank Sinatra, who was also making his own television debut that night.

Actor and comedian Bob Hope (born Leslie Hope, 1903 - 2003) performs, during the 'Burns & Hope: 179 Years of Comedy' show.

The broadcast marked a turning point not only for Hope, but for television itself, as one of the biggest stars of radio and film officially stepped into the new medium.

By 1950, Hope was already one of the most famous entertainers in America. His success on the radio, especially with The Pepsodent Show, and his growing film career made him a trusted name in comedy. But television was still new, and many stars had not yet embraced it.

Hope’s appearance on Star Spangled Revue changed that. It proved that major entertainers could succeed on TV just as they had on radio and in movies. His fast-paced jokes, simple humor and friendly style translated well to the screen, making audiences feel as if he were speaking directly to them.

This first national appearance led to decades of television success. Beginning in the early 1950s, Hope became known for his regular TV specials, including holiday shows that millions of families watched every year. He would go on to host the Academy Awards a record 19 times and remain a familiar face on television for over four decades.

From Vaudeville Roots to Television Pioneer

Hope’s journey to television success began long before he stepped in front of a TV camera. Born in London in 1903, he moved to the United States as a child and grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. As a young boy, he performed on the streets, singing and dancing to earn money.

He later worked his way into show business through vaudeville, where he developed his comedy style. He then moved to Broadway in the 1930s before finding success in radio and film. By the time television arrived, Hope was already one of the biggest stars in the country.

He starred in more than 70 films, including a popular series of Road to… movies with Bing Crosby. Their chemistry on screen became legendary and helped boost Hope’s fame even further.

Even as trends changed, Hope remained active. His television career continued well into the 1990s. He made guest appearances on popular shows and celebrated major milestones, including a special for his 90th birthday that won an Emmy Award.

Beyond entertainment, Hope also became known for his work with the United Service Organizations (USO), performing for troops around the world for decades. In 1997, he was named an honorary veteran.

Hope lived to be 100 years old, passing away in 2003. By then, he had become one of the most honored entertainers in history, with thousands of awards and recognitions.

Jill Duggar & Husband Derick Dillard Reveal Shocking Family Update

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 3:36pm

Former Counting On and 19 Kids and Counting star Jill Duggar's husband, Derick Dillard, just made a shocking career switch-up after working as an attorney.

On Thursday, April 9, the couple—who have been married since 2014—took to Instagram to tease a major family update. They directed followers to their blog, which revealed that Derick—who passed the BAR exam in 2022, officially becoming a licensed attorney—had enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps.

"Derick has joined the Marine Corps!" they began the message. "He has been selected for Marine Corps Officer Candidate School (OCS)!"

The announcement featured a photo of Derick raising his right hand while standing across from another man as his and Jill's three sons, Israel, 11, Samuel, 8, and Freddy, 3, looked on.

In a "few weeks," Derick will ship out for active duty to Quantico, Va., they explained. From there, he will "commission as an officer at the end of OCS and then go on to a couple of other trainings before getting his assignment as a Marine Corps JAG officer!" (A JAG officer, for those unfamiliar, is an attorney who is a commissioned military officer and provides legal services to the military command and personnel.)

The blog update continued, "Becoming a military JAG officer has been something Derick has wanted to do for a long time and he even received a recruiting letter last year from the Marine Corps, but the timing just wasn’t right for our family, and then by the time we were ready, we weren’t sure the opportunity would still be available."

Additionally, Jill and Derick shared that he started the process in early March—and that things will continue to move quickly. "Lord willing, after Derick’s 10 weeks of intense training at OCS, Jill and the kids will move to join him in Virginia, and then Rhode Island for the remainder of his training," the blog added.

To conclude the update, Derick and Jill wrote, "We’d appreciate your prayers for health and strength for Derick as he prepares for and trains at OCS, and for the rest of us as we survive without him for a bit and prepare for new family transitions!"

The Dillards' followers reacted to the surprising family and career news in the comments of their Instagram post. One wrote, "Thank you for your service, Derick. Prayers to you on this journey 🙏🏻."

Someone else echoed, "Congratulations Derrick, hope you have a very successful military career. I’m sure your wife and kids are very proud."

A different follower commented, "Congratulations and welcome to the military spouse/family world! 🇺🇸."

Meanwhile, yet another Instagram user wrote, "The best of luck, hope Derrick finds his true calling and passion and you enjoy him serving and being a part of something special and meaningful in your futures. Sounds like a chance of a lifetime for each of you."

What was Final Jeopardy today?

Final Jeopardy today was in the category "Writers In Residence."

The clue:  "In 1759 he purchased Ferney, the French home where he lived for 2 decades, largely because of its proximity to the Swiss border."

The answer:  Who is Voltaire?

This was a clue steeped in European literary history. Jamie was the only contestant to answer correctly, though it barely mattered, as he had locked in a smooth runway going into the break. His conservative $827 wager was purely mathematical, nudging his cumulative total to a clean $572,600. Prithish and Alexandra both missed the answer, with Prithish guessing "Wyss" and Alexandra unable to come up with a response, after wagering $100 and $601, respectively.

Ding will be back again tomorrow to aim for his 21st win.
