Tyson Apostol and Tom Sandoval saw the writing on the wall in the House of Villains before their games both came to and end. First, the Vanderpump Rules alum was ousted by fellow Bravo star Kate Chastain. Then the Survivor winner was pretty much left on his own, with just Tiffany “New York” Pollard as a potential ally.

The unlikely duo, who became good friends during filming, tried to make a case to Big Brother alum Paul Abrahamian, pitching why keeping them around could improve his chances of winning. But despite multiple conversations (and even some last-ditch threats), they couldn’t get through to him. "Nothing else had worked up until that point," Tyson exclusively tells Parade. "I was just like, he's not working with me. He's so hell bent on just getting me out, he was forgetting the end game. He's forgetting what may be best for him. He's just like, I just want Tyson gone."

Now out of the game, Tyson and Tom are opening up about where things went wrong — from the challenge that sealed Tyson's fate to their frustrations with Paul's approach — and even what wasn’t shown on TV, including Tyson packing his bags upstairs while the rest of the cast celebrated his downfall.

Parade: Hey guys! So Tyson, you had to know once Tom was gone you were in trouble, especially with that challenge being a popularity contest, right?

Tyson Apostol: Yeah, it was. You could see I was visibly upset that I was like, “You’re gonna do that?” The majority is already in control, so you’re just gonna let them continue control. Why do I need to jump in the sludge? So if I were in the majority and that challenge popped up, I would be so happy, obviously, but in that moment, I was like, “The underdog does not have a chance.” So yeah, that was a bit of a bummer. But I was hoping that people would start considering the end game, but it still seemed like they were so set on just getting me at whatever cost it is to them in the next following days. So once you get eliminated, you have to go upstairs and pack all of your stuff and get out of the house. But it was Paul’s birthday, so I’m packing all my stuff, but I can hear them having a birthday party downstairs, and they actually let Paul’s mom come in for the evening, and they’re all celebrating and laughing about me being gone. I can hear all of it because I’m still in the house packing my stuff up, and I’m just like, you poor fools. You don’t even realize that you have to cut each other and that every one but one of you is going to look back on this moment and be like, maybe I should have gone a different direction.

Parade: It seemed like you two were the only ones thinking about endgame strategy. Was that frustrating?

Tom Sandoval: Yeah, it really was. I mean, first of all, to add on to what Tyson said about his challenge, I thought it was pretty unfair that people could team up on that specific challenge. I feel like that’s a challenge that should have been left for earlier in the game. And I feel like people should have filled up their own. Like what Tyson said, everybody should have had to fill up their own cup, and then if they got their cup filled, then they could go try to fill somebody else’s up. That would have been much better. But also the fact that there was no redemption challenge. Tyson had no chance whatsoever. He had no chance of staying. And we both had tried to speak to Paul and to other people as well and say, “Hey, you’re going to be up against people who have voted for everyone who has been voted out. So when they come back as your jury, who do you think they’re going to vote to win?”

With Paul, we had taken care of him. When Tyson was the first Supervillain, the team that Paul was on lost, so he couldn’t just elect three girls up there. So Paul was the only guy on that team, so obviously he had to elect him for the hit list. We told him we would take care of him. When the theatrics came in, I actually memorized things, and I told Paul some things to help him out. And we also agreed that we would not vote him out if he didn’t win the redemption challenge. I had chosen to keep him when it came to eliminating him and Johnny. So I figured, like, this guy’s gonna have my back. I also knew immediately, and told him, I knew that he had changed his vote and he didn’t like that I knew that, but I told him, “Paul, I kept my mouth shut. I backed off about you changing your vote significantly.” And also I was trying to tell him, “Let’s make some good television here. Let’s keep this interesting.”

Parade: Tyson, he said you threatened him. What did you make of that?

Tyson Apostol: Yeah, for threatening him. But I was also correct. Nothing else had worked up until that point. If you go to Paul and you’re like, “Hey, Paul, what do you think about this?” he’d always be like, “Well, I have to think about it.” And you’re like, that’s a no. I already know that’s a no. So you couldn’t get any answers from Paul. It was always like, “This is a lot to process right now.” And you’re like, okay, I can tell you’re not answering. I’m not an idiot. So I was like, at this point, the only thing I have left is to threaten him. And also it’s funny because I’ve said, “If you spit in my cup, I will definitely come for you.” And then he denies, denies, denies that he ever spit in my cup. Meanwhile, the footage shows Paul immediately spitting in my cup. So I was just like, okay, Paul. I could see right through his game. Even in that challenge, anytime I looked at him, he would pretend like he couldn’t figure out which way was up. He’d be like, “The foam is too much.” And then when I turned away, he’d run immediately to my cup, and I called him out for that too. And he was like, “No, I wasn’t.” I was like, you’re just that uncoordinated. That’s a historic amount of uncoordination that you displayed every time I looked at you. So I was just like, he’s not working with me. He’s so hell bent on just getting me out, he was forgetting the end game. He’s forgetting what may be best for him. He’s just like, “I just want Tyson gone.”

Parade: Where do you stand with Paul today?

Tyson Apostol: I'm cool with Paul.

Tom Sandoval: Yeah, we’re cool. I mean, look, I think Paul learned a lot about playing this game. I hope he did, because you want to be good in some sort of way. You want to play to your strengths or be strong at least in one way. I knew immediately that he had changed his vote with Christine [Quinn] right off the bat. So it’s like, if it’s not working, abandon ship, try something different. I had so many conversations with him, and it’s like, you’re having a serious conversation and he’s got sunglasses down his nose looking at you, and it’s night time. I’m like, Paul, make a move here. Make a solid move. That’s the one thing I was hoping.

Parade: Were you trying to rely on Paul as your last option, especially considering he comes from a competition reality background?

Tyson Apostol: Partly. Also, I think that side of the house was already against us, so it was like he was our last option. From the outside looking in, I’m thinking we’re his best move if he wants to win this. Because he kept being like, “Yeah, I don’t owe you any favors, Tyson.” And I was like, we did you in the house, and we did do some other stuff. And also, don’t you owe it to yourself to try to win? Don’t owe me anything, but you should take into consideration that you can win this, but you are gonna do better and improve your chances if you’re standing next to Tom and I in the end.

Parade: That didn’t work.

Tom Sandoval: No. But we had followed through. That was one of the things I noticed with this game and in previous seasons. You build more respect and power with credibility. And I had a lot of really good credit in the house. I told people exactly what I was doing. I never changed my votes. I was very reliable. And with Paul, I told him ahead of time that I was fighting to keep him in, and I did that, and we kept him in. Then he comes around and is like, “I have no alliances,” and he has a chance to pay us back and make an alliance, and he doesn’t. It just was, for somebody who’s a gamer, to me, just terrible gameplay.

Parade: Tyson, what's your reaction to New York flipping on you at the end?

Tyson Apostol: It made sense. We didn’t have the majority. It was whatever. I would have done the same. I kind of told her already in advance, if you have to jump, don’t hurt yourself or stick your neck out so far for me, because I’m pretty much already dead. Although when I said that to her, she was like, “No, I got you.” And she was still trying to help me convince people to keep me in the house. But then when she saw that that was not gonna work, she was like, I just have to go with the group on this one.

Parade: You guys became close in the house. Any plans to work together again?

Tyson Apostol: Well, we’re meeting here soon in the future. We already set it up. They already love our ideas. So hopefully something’s going.

Parade: Tom, would Tyson be good on The Traitors and what advice would you give him?

Tom Sandoval: I would totally recommend Tyson doing The Traitors. I think he would do great. I would say that he definitely would need to be a lot more social and be a little bit more chummy with everyone.

Tyson Apostol: Which is hard. I’m 40.

Tom Sandoval: I’m not saying suck up, but I think what really helps is just being open, wearing your heart on your sleeve. There’s not a lot of time in that game. You have a very limited amount of time to figure out who the traitors are. And you can see certain people just sitting around, letting others come to them. And then you can see people running around trying to figure it out, and the frustration on their face. To me, that was always a dead giveaway who they were.

After 20 years off the air, and over a decade on the brains of stars and fans alike, Malcolm in the Middle finally returned. The revival of the hit FOXsitcom saw our favorite dysfunctional family decades older, though not necessarily wiser. Indeed, an era of smartphones and social media has emboldened the shenanigans of Malcolm (Frankie Muniz) and his brothers.

So did Malcolm in the Middle: Life's Still Unfair keep the spirit of the original series alive? Yes? No? Maybe? I don't know, can you repeat the question?

Regardless of how you feel, the revival went all-out in its four-episode run, making sure myriad familiar faces joined Muniz, Bryan Cranston, Jane Kaczmarek, Justin Berfield, Christopher Masterson and the gang. The majority of Malcolm in the Middle: Life's Still Unfair is also about the weeklong celebration of Hal (Cranston) and Lois's (Kaczmarek) anniversary. Of course, proving his memorable monologue where he declared to her wife he would always love her more, Hal has gone above and beyond, recruiting everyone from a pink-clad army to his poker buddies/singing group. And Lois was adamant throughout in her desire to try to give him a gift that could even be in the same ballpark as his grand gestures.

In typical Lois fashion, her anniversary party planning had her exerting control over a variety of vendors. In fact, she was so wrapped up in everything on her to-do list that she got into a car accident, breaking her leg in the process. But knowing how determined Lois could be, you knew there was no way she wasn't going to that party, even if it was in a cast.

Indeed, all of her hard work paid off, as things played out incredibly smoothly. The most important part, of course, was her gift to Hal: A full video in which his friends and family talked about all the qualities they loved about him. One particular highlight came from the youngest child, Kelly (Vaughan Murrae), who emotionally recounted questioning their gender as a child, and how they were supported by Hal every step of the way.

"Hal, when we first met, I knew I’d been looking for you my entire life," Lois said, following the video. "You’re my wish come true." The audience, who were previously awestruck by the quality of the video, burst into rapturous applause. To say she had gone above and beyond would be an understatement.

Given the typical chaos that follows this family wherever they go, it was a bit surprising that nothing went awry during the vast majority of the party. We soon found out, however, that Hal's biggest surprise was saved for last. Wanting to get the last word in gift-wise, he treated Lois to a surprise slow dance to "Eternal Flame." Waiting above in the rafters was Francis (Masterson), ready to unleash a shower of glitter onto the dance floor.

But, whether it was rafters that were too far apart or a stubborn zipper, the eldest son had issues delivering the goods. And so, as the happy couple posed glamorously for the attendees, Hal was crushed overhead by the giant bag, followed by his son. The resulting impact burst the sack, as glitter began to rain down everywhere. But the awe and allure quickly turned to pain and panic, as it turned from a whimsical drizzle to a full-on glitter monsoon. Guests ran for the exits or dove under tables like they were in the sparkliest battlefield in history. Of course, it was only a matter of time before the other shoe — and bag — dropped.

One of the biggest shockers of the first episode of Life's Still Unfair was the revelation that Malcolm had not told his parents about the existence of his daughter, Leah (Keeley Karsten). Indeed, over the past couple of decades, he's elected to keep the generations at arm's length, not wanting to fall into his worst tendencies when he's in their proximity. Despite his constant efforts to maintain the facade of the life he had, it takes a combined effort of Leah and Tristan (Kiana Madeira), plus some good old-fashioned kidnapping, to force him into the same room as his family.

After avoiding his mother throughout the entire season (and, seemingly, the past 20 years), Malcolm and Lois finally hash things out, with the soundtrack of Craig's (David Anthony Higgins) digestive issues. Malcolm outright says, "I like myself better when I'm not around you," saying she put superhuman expectations on him. This is a reference to the ending of the series proper, as Lois made her son turn down a job right out of high school to instead go to college, with a mapped-out plan to eventually make him President of the United States.

Lois, however, does not even blink in response to this. She simply states that her path for Malcolm was just one of many, an aspiration that can easily be crossed out and rewritten. The way she sees it, that unrealistic pressure on Malcolm allowed him to excel so much that he achieved the "perfect life" he was touting in the beginning.

"You’ve accomplished so much," she says. "And all of it is you. It’s just you."

Malcolm is taken aback. This whole time, he pushed his family away for fear of disappointing them, not living up to their lofty expectations. But he actually had them in his mind more than ever, which caused him to become the man he probably never thought he could be. At long last, mother and son embrace.

Perhaps it's this romantic spirit that pushes Malcolm to do what he does next. Following the screening of Hal's movie, he takes to the stage. Seeing the value his father holds in so many people's lives has made him realize what it means to have someone you care about. And so, in that moment, he gets down on one knee, publicly proposing to Tristan. Who, of course, refuses.

After all, despite the grand sweeping gesture of romance she just experienced, there is a very clear reality to the situation. She just found out about a whole family that he had been keeping from her the entire time they dated. It's a clear reminder that, while Malcolm in the Middle certainly has its emotional moments, it's far from your typical tropy sitcom. Don't worry, though, there is a happy ending. Tristan promises that, while there's no ring in the picture yet, she and Malcolm are still dating, with plenty of trips to the bedroom in their future.

Malcolm in the Middle: Life's Still Unfair closes on a familiar sight. The family sits silently, side-by-side, staring ahead. Wanton glitter destruction lies around them, the party long cleared out. Francis and Hal were hit the hardest, resembling some sort of silent street artist. And, as Malcolm (and longtime fans) predicted, it wasn't long before the boys devolved into petty arguing with one another.

"Well, I guess this is my life again," Malcolm says to the camera. "I just have to do everything I can to make it work. Mostly because I can't think of any way out of it. I hope Leah's gonna be okay with this family."

He has no idea that, among certain genetics, he also passed down fourth wall-breaking to his daughter. Leah then immediately looks to us, saying, "I like this family. I feel so much less weird by comparison. I hope dad's gonna be able to handle it."

"I'm sure he'll/she'll be fine," they say simultaneously, before looking at one another and then looking away.

It's unknown at this moment if we'll be getting more Malcolm in the Middle on our screens, or if this revival is truly the last hurrah for the family. But, considering the laughs and the tears this four-episode revival was able to evoke, we're feeling far from blue (or "blellow") about the check-in we got all these years later.

What Is Micellar Water?

As the name suggests, micellar water is made up mostly of water that's filled with molecules called micelles. They're designed to "gently lift impurities and residues from the skin surface," says Dr. Brendan Camp, who's double board-certified in dermatology and dermatopathology.

How Does Micellar Water Work?

Micelles are surfactant molecules, which means they have one end that attracts water and one end that repels it, according to the University of Bristol. Dr. Spearman describes them as "magnets" that "bind to makeup, excess oil and dirt" so they're easier to wipe away. Because the cleanser doesn't require harsh scrubbing, and "the cleansing agents are very mild," Dr. Spearman says micellar water is a great choice for those with sensitive skin and those who want to protect their skin barrier.

How Do You Use Micellar Water?

To use, Dr. Camp recommends that you "wet a cotton pad with micellar water and gently sweep it across the face, eyes and lips to remove oil, product residue and makeup."

Dr. Spearman adds that micellar water can be used as one step in a skin-care routine. "For patients who wear heavier makeup or sunscreen, I usually suggest following it with a gentle cleanser to ensure everything is fully removed," she says.

Does Micellar Water Remove Waterproof Makeup?

Dr. Spearman says that most standard micellar waters work for "light to moderate makeup." If you have heavy-duty waterproof makeup to remove, you might want to opt for an oil-infused formula or hold a "saturated cotton pad over the area for a few seconds [to help] break down the product before wiping," she says.

The year 1976 was defined by the Bicentennial, the debut of Apple Computer, and the inescapable sound of a 'talking' guitar. On April 10, 1976, Peter Frampton’s double-live album, Frampton Comes Alive!, reached the number one spot on the Billboard 200, kicking off a ten-week residency that would transform a journeyman rocker into a global phenomenon.

Fifty years later, the album remains a masterclass in how a single release can shift the culture. Before this record, Frampton was respected for his work with Humble Pie and a string of modest solo efforts, but he lacked the breakthrough that defines a superstar. Everything changed during a series of performances in 1975, most notably at Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco. Armed with a black 1954 Gibson Les Paul and a 'talk box' (an effects pedal that allowed him to shape guitar notes with his mouth), Frampton captured a lightning-in-a-bottle energy that studio recordings simply couldn't replicate.

The tracklist is a playlist for 1970s FM radio. 'Show Me the Way' and 'Do You Feel Like We Do' utilized the talk box to create a playful dialogue between the artist and his instrument. When the crowd roars on the fourteen-minute live version of 'Do You Feel Like We Do,' it’s a live document of a specific moment in time when rock and roll was rapidly expanding.

Visually, the album was just as potent. The cover art, featuring a soft-focus, golden-hued Frampton bathed in stage lights, sold a vibe of California-cool and arena rock. At a time when the music industry seemed skeptical of live double albums (viewing them as 'filler' between studio projects), Frampton proved they could be the main event. By the end of 1976, it was the top-selling album of the year, eventually moving over eight million copies in the United States alone.

Today, Peter Frampton is experiencing a massive career resurgence that proves his 'legend' status. In late 2024, he was finally inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, a milestone that kicked off a busy 2025-2026 'Let’s Do It Again!' tour. What makes his current run so remarkable is his resilience. Despite a 2019 diagnosis of Inclusion Body Myositis (IBM), a degenerative muscle disease that affects his legs and fingers, Frampton continues to perform seated, delivering his signature guitar solos with undiminished precision. He is also currently gearing up for the May 15, 2026, release of Carry the Light, his first album of all-new rock material in 16 years. Co-written with his son Julian and featuring collaborations with stars like Sheryl Crow and Tom Morello, the project serves as a triumphant capstone to the 50th-anniversary celebrations of the album that first made him a household name.

In addition to being a reminder of his stellar performance skills, the 50th anniversary of his chart-topping milestone is also a reminder of an era when musical choice was more physical. Put Your Shoes Under The Lining Of Your Carry-On

In a viral Youtube short that features secret packing hacks from airline crews, there was one specific tip that stood out to me the most. In the video, the creator opens up their carry-on bag and shows how she’s able to unzip the lining of the bag. When she does this, it reveals the inside of the hard-cover carry-on. She then places a pair of sneakers into the uncovered area, and zips it back up to conceal them. The purpose of this is to keep your shoes away from the clothing in your carry-on, ensuring that everything you pack stays clean.

I think this is a great tip, especially because it designates a specific area of the suitcase that is only meant for shoes. That way, you know that that specific area is a tad dirty, therefore you wouldn’t use it for anything else. Plus, having it zip up so securely really ensures that things are guaranteed to be kept separated.

Another Option For Keeping Your Shoes Away From Your Clothes

If you’ve used up the space in the lining of your suitcase, or aren’t interested in messing with that inner zipper, there are other options for you as well. Another tip that I learned from a flight attendant is to cover your shoes with thin, disposable shower caps. You can buy these in bulk from many stores, including Amazon. All you need to do is wrap each individual shoe with the shower caps, and it keeps the dirt from the shoes away from the rest of your carry-on items.

Another reason why I love this method is that it keeps your shoes separate from each other, as opposed to using a dedicated shoe bag which is created to keep pairs of shoes in one contained spot. By separating each shoe, you’re able to utilize a Tetris method when packing–which allows you to optimize the space of your carry-on much better. Plus, having the slippery material from the shower caps makes it easier to slide a shoe into open spaces in the suitcase. It removes the clunky act of attempting to wiggle a shoe in between packing cubes.

New questions are emerging in the case of Nancy Guthrie after recent notes were sent to TMZ about the whereabouts of the 84-year-old—and the people responsible for her disappearance. Parade reached out to Michael Hershman, founder of the Fairfax Group, one of the world's leading global risk management and investigative firms, and to former FBI special agent Greg Rogers to ask whether authorities can trace the origin of the notes.

Both experts agreed that individuals with advanced technical knowledge can use tools like VPNs and encrypted connections to obscure their digital footprints—potentially making it extremely difficult for investigators to identify who is behind the messages.

"If the anonymous source has any technical skills and knowledge, the likelihood of tracing is remote," says Hershman.

"The short answer is that a very computer-savvy perp can effectively hide the ISP they’re using or they can use one that they’re not concerned about its discovery," echoed Rogers.

"It is almost always the case with sophisticated criminals that they use virtual private networks, VPNs, to disguise the actual internet service provider, ISP, they are using to send and receive emails," Rogers continues. "The VPN creates a secure and encrypted connection between the device being used and a VPN server. This encrypted connection makes it difficult for anyone to intercept or monitor an individual's online activities. Law enforcement can use various methods to track VPN users to identify the actual ISP being used. The most common methods are search warrants and subpoenas requiring that the VPN service provide that information. That being said, there are numerous VPN services in foreign countries that do not comply with those types of United States court’s orders. These are commonly used by computer sophisticated criminal groups."

The two most recent notes were sent to TMZ on Monday, April 6—the same day that Savannah Guthrie returned to Today for the first time since her mom went missing. According to the outlet, the person who sent the notes said that Nancy was dead. They requested one Bitcoin for information about the kidnappers—half up front and the other half once the information is validated.

Authorities have not spoken out about these particular notes and it's unclear if the requested Bitcoin will be paid.

“It wasn't the unconventional length that kept ‘Baba O'Riley’ from being released as a single from Who's Next,” the publication writes, noting that even the longer “Won't Get Fooled Again” was edited for AM radio. “The extended synthesizer passages probably weren't a hurdle either … but outside of select European countries, this classic never saw a proper single release.” 

The iconic 1971 song about Sally and Ray traversing the polluted “teenage wasteland” with their children in search of a new life didn’t need a single to become a defining rock staple — an electrifying and rebellious anthem that was embraced by radio, film, and live audiences, it was ultimately cemented in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s “500 Songs That Shaped Rock ‘n’ Roll.”

“[It] speaks to generation after generation,” Roger Daltrey, the band's lead singer, told uDiscover Music last October, before sharing that the song is also a warning about technology’s growing chokehold. “Life is not looking down at screens, it is looking up.” 

In case you’re wondering about the origin of the title, it’s actually a mash-up of spiritual guides personal to founding member Pete Townshend, also the band’s guitarist and chief songwriter. 

“Baba” was borrowed from Townshend’s spiritual mentor, Meher Baba, an Indian guru who believed “life was an illusion and only by transcending its false pretenses would one become closer to God,” uDiscover Music shares.

“Riley” came from Terry Riley, a minimalist composer whose hypnotic improvisation work inspired Townshend to translate “a person into music.”

And the “O” came from the violin contribution of British multi-instrumentalist Dave Arbus, because “it sounded a bit Irish at the end,” Townshend said.

Boom, simple as that.

In January 8, 1990, O'Connor would release the cover as a single and also as part of her second studio album, I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got. It was the end of the Cold War, there were whispers of something called "the internet," and "Nothing Compares 2 U" had officially made its imprint on the world.

When you combine the heartsick lyrics written by Prince with O'Connor's anguished, gut-wrenching vocal performance, this iconic song aches with every note and digs into the deepest valleys of heartbroken despair. It became song you turned on in your car when you were finally ready to cry it out.

Nowadays, add in the untimely death of Prince (he died in 2016 at age 57) and O'Connor's mental health struggles followed by her unexpected death (she died in 2023 at age 56), and this song still feels steeped in sadness. Both of these amazing talents gone too soon. But thankfully, we are left with this gorgeous song.

And truly, nothing compares.

It could just be me, but scones are a hard sell when it comes to irresistible baked goods. That said, these scones do have decent flavor; it's just the texture that loses me. More like a dense cake in scone form, this treat comes with four scones in one plastic bag, each made with butter, sour cream and specks of real vanilla bean.

Formed into a triangular shape and enrobed in a sweet confectioner's glaze, you might notice a surprisingly forward lemon flavor, even though they aren't advertised as lemon scones. Everyone's taste preferences differ, so if you're a fan of denser scones or don't mind this twist, you might enjoy them. But for a more classic scone experience, you may want to stick with your local bakery.

2. Sourdough Bread Sliced

Trader Joe's sourdough lineup always has me on the fence. On one hand, I'm a huge fan of sourdough and would choose it over nearly any other loaf. On the other hand, Trader Joe's sourdough tends to spoil far too quickly. On multiple occasions, I've found mold on my loaves of Sliced Sourdough Bread within two days of bringing them home.

Because of this, I've learned to toss Trader Joe's sourdough directly in the freezer if I won't be using it right away. And while that adds an extra step, it's worth it to avoid wasting your money. Priced at $3.69 for a pre-sliced loaf, this is nearly a perfect sourdough find, and if TJ's could extend the shelf life even slightly, I'd happily move this one off my "items to avoid" list.

3. Pita Bread Pockets

Not regularly in stock, but a slight disappointment when they are, Trader Joe's Pita Bread Pockets aren't entirely bad; they just fall victim to one unfortunate reality: they're nearly impossible to stuff without crumbling and breaking apart.

Having gone through multiple iterations over the years that have earned their fair share of both positive and negative feedback, my experience with this specific pita offering has been pretty consistent. The flavor is satisfying, and the size works well for a variety of snacks and meals, but they rarely hold up when making something like stuffed Lebanese-inspired Arayes. They're also a bit fragile for wrapping around a Greek-style gyro, which forces you to get creative in ways that their crumbly nature can actually benefit the recipe.

In 1989, Tom Petty found solo success with  “Runnin’ Down a Dream.” The song, from the rock legend’s first solo album Full Moon Fever, peaked at No. 23 on the Billboard Hot 100 on Sept. 23, 1989.

Rolling Stone ranked "Runnin’ Down a Dream”  as one of the greatest road trip songs of all time, noting that the solo song “feels like the moment when you get through a traffic jam and finally hit the gas.”

The rock outlet also named “Runnin’ Down a Dream” the sixth greatest song of Petty’s career, and included his past reflection about the tune: “To me, American music was all about listening in the car,” he once said.

The song itself is about chasing a dream, and it’s a theme that Petty knew well. After a chance meeting with Elvis Presleyin his Florida hometown at age 11, Petty knew what he wanted to do with his life. “Everything became pretty clear at that moment,” he once told Billboard. “[Being a rock star] looked like a great job.”

‘Runnin’ Down a Dream’ was built around a driving guitar riff

“Runnin’ Down a Dream” features relatable lyrics about singing in the car (Petty references pal Del Shannon’s “Runaway” at one point), and a driving guitar riff from Petty’s Heartbreakers bandmate Mike Campbell.Rolling Stone noted  Campbell “nailed” his guitar solo in one take during recording.

“He looked like a stone statue, he didn’t even blink or move,” Petty once said of his longtime bandmate, according to Billboard.

The song was followed by a  message from Petty on the ‘Full Moon Fever’ album

“Runnin’ Down a Dream” is the last track on the first side of Full Moon Fever. Just after the song ends, “barnyard” noises, credited to Shannon, can be heard. Petty then delivers a message to fans listening to the  CD version of the record.

"Hello CD listeners. We have come to the point in this album where those listening on cassettes or records will have to stand - up or sit down - and turn over the record or tape,” he said, per Songfacts. “In fairness to those listeners, we will now take a few seconds before we begin Side 2. Thank you, and here is Side 2."

On May 20, 1989, Petty performed “Runnin’ Down a Dream” on the Season 14 finale of Saturday Night Live. He also played the full song at the Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2008.

To have a song rated the No. 1 best on an expansive list of 500 is a feat only a legend of Aretha Franklin's stature could achieve. The iconic hit? None other than the empowerment anthem, "Respect."

Today, we celebrate the 59th anniversary of the standout track, which remains an anthem for equality, civil rights, and well, respect (naturally).

Interestingly enough, the hit wasn't even originally Franklin's, though she, obviously, made it most famous. Penned and performed by Otis Redding in 1965, the powerhouse vocalist's version of the soul classic was recorded in New York City on Valentine's Day and released as a single by Atlantic Records on April 10, 1967. It was later included on her studio album, Never Loved a Man the Way I Love You.

Earning the "A Natural Woman" songstress two Grammy awards in 1968—Best Rhythm & Blues Recording and Best Rhythm & Blues Solo Vocal Performance, Female—the track became her very first No. 1 hit, cementing her as the Queen of Soul. "Respect" has long been considered one of the best songs of all time, topping Rolling Stone's lengthy ranking as the No. 1 greatest.

On Rolling Stone‘s list, it was previously ranked at No. 5, but moved up and still remains at the top of the most recent version of the roundup. The Queen of Soul’s classic is followed by Public Enemy‘s “Fight the Power” at No. 2, Sam Cooke‘s “A Change Is Gonna Come,” Bob Dylan‘s 1965 release, “Like a Rolling Stone,” and Nirvana‘s “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” rounding out the top five.

She has sold more than 75 million records worldwide, making her one of the best-selling female R&B artists of all time. "Hello It's Me" detailed the elements of a particularly heartbreaking breakup. In a 2018 interview with The Wall Street Journal, Rundgren explained how the idea for the song came to fruition.

"I thought back to early 1966, when I was still in high school. Senior year had been an emotional time. I had a crush on a girl named Linda, and we started seeing each other."

"One day in May '66, a friend dropped us off, and I walked Linda to her front door. Her father, who was outside, hated me on sight. He turned the garden hose on me. Long hair on a guy was a political statement back then and a red flag for parents."

Rundgren concluded, "A day or two later, Linda told me she was forbidden to see me anymore. Just like that, she stopped talking to me and wouldn’t take my calls."

"Writing my song in ’67, I decided to make the lyrics about our breakup. But instead of being the victim, I turned the song’s story around so I was breaking up with her. This gave me a little power and allowed me to imagine how I might have done things differently over the phone."

In the early '70s, Rundgren was working on his LP Something/Anything? when he revisited the tune. He revealed that "Hello It’s Me” was recorded "in a single take. I’m not sure if it was the first take, but there was no overdubbing or splicing. Everyone was in the studio at the same time. It happened just as you hear it."

"Hello It's Me" would land at No. 5 on the Billboard 100 in December 1973. It spent 20 weeks on the chart.

As for Linda? She called him thirty years later. He put her on the guest list for an Oklahoma show he was performing. They didn't see each other that evening, Rundgren stated. "I wanted to hold onto the image I had of her in high school. I never told her she was the inspiration for the song."
