In 1974, Dave Loggins released a heartfelt ballad that would become the defining hit of his career.

"Please Come to Boston" struck a chord with listeners through its vivid storytelling and themes of love, longing and life on the road. More than 50 years later, it remains one of the most beloved soft rock songs of the decade.

The song was inspired in part by Loggins' experiences traveling as a musician and observing the challenges that come with a life spent constantly moving from city to city. The lyrics follow a restless dreamer who repeatedly asks a loved one to join him as he pursues new opportunities in different places, only to discover that home and stability may matter more than adventure.

"The story is almost true," the Loggins told Viera Voice, "except that there wasn’t anyone waiting, so I made her up, in effect making the longing for someone stronger. It was a recap to my first trip to each of these cities and out of innocence. That was how I saw each one. The fact of having no one to come home to made the chorus easy to write."

The song's title references Boston, but the story also moves through Denver and Los Angeles, creating the feeling of an endless journey across America.

That travel-oriented narrative helped make the song especially relatable to listeners and contributed to its reputation as a timeless road trip favorite.

"There was this beautiful, glowing feeling that came over me," Loggins shared in an interview about the song's inception, "a godlike feeling, that said, 'Here, go ahead and play, I’ll move your fingers.'"

Released as the lead single from Loggins' album, Apprentice (In a Musical Workshop), "Please Come to Boston" became a major commercial breakthrough.

The song reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned significant airplay across both pop and adult contemporary radio formats.

Although Dave Loggins never matched the chart success of "Please Come to Boston," the song's legacy has endured far beyond its original release.

It has been covered by numerous artists over the years, including Kenny Chesney, whose version introduced the song to a new generation of listeners.

Loggins was also highly respected as a songwriter, penning hits for a variety of artists throughout his career. He was the cousin of Kenny Loggins, though the two built successful careers along different musical paths.

What continues to make "Please Come to Boston" resonate is its emotional honesty. The song captures the tension between pursuing dreams and maintaining personal relationships, a theme that remains just as relevant today as it was in the 1970s.

More than five decades after its release, "Please Come to Boston" stands as one of soft rock's most enduring ballads, a wistful anthem inspired by life on tour that continues to connect with listeners wherever the road may take them.

In 1969, Boston’s Tom Scholz was holed up in a flooded basement in Watertown, Massachusetts, making music on equipment he engineered himself. Little did he know, the rough notes he was crafting on a homemade two-track recorder would become the first recording ever made for Boston — and years later, part of one of the bestselling debut albums in rock history.

At the time, Scholz was a student at MIT in Cambridge, working on his bachelor’s then master’s in mechanical engineering. After being enchanted by the Yardbirds and the Kinks, however, the music bug bit him, and over the next few years he quietly began pounding out what would become the foundation for Boston’s self-titled debut.

Years of tinkering, demos, and basement recording delivered “Foreplay,” a kinetic instrumental that builds slowly and features a Hammond organ riff with driving drums and layered intensity. The piece was later structured as the introduction for the main track, “Long Time,” which opens into soaring vocals, acoustic-to-electric shifts, rich harmonies, and stacked guitar solos. Together, they form an iconic two-part rock suite hailed by fans and music experts alike.

“The longest and most complex track on Boston’s debut was in two parts: the proggy instrumental intro piece 'Foreplay' followed by the grandstanding rock anthem 'Long Time,'” Classic Rock wrote. “Together, it made for what one critic described as ‘a perfect marriage of Yes and Led Zeppelin.’”

Released in August 1976, the multipart masterpiece peaked at No. 22 on the Billboard Hot 100, enjoying 10 weeks on the chart. But the album did even better. Peaking at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, the record spent a total of 138 weeks bobbing around the survey.

From “Foreplay/Long Time” and “More Than a Feeling” to “Peace of Mind” and “Let Me Take You Home Tonight,” Boston swiftly became a staple of classic rock radio, and the band quickly went on to sell out arenas. 

Just months after forming, Boston even nabbed a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. According to music journalist and radio host Eric Alper, they lost to one-hit wonder Starland Vocal Band (“Afternoon Delight”) — and then went HAM on album sales.

“Boston went on to sell 17 million copies of their debut in the United States alone, went Diamond, and placed every single song on the album into permanent classic rock radio rotation,” Alper wrote. “The Grammy voters have had 50 years to think about that one.”

Today the band’s catalog is brimming with an iconic mix of arena rock, hard rock, and AOR. Their signature sound continues to resonate across the airwaves, including “Foreplay/Long Time.” And to think it all started in that “hideous” waterlogged basement.

Some musical duos possess a chemistry so extraordinary that their chart-topping collaborations forge a timeless legacy across generations.

In 2025, Billboard ranked the 100 best country songs, compiling a staff-picks list of the greatest tracks ever made in the genre. Ranked alongside classics such as Dwight Yoakam's 1986 track “Guitars, Cadillacs” at No. 82 and Hank Williams Jr.'s 1979 song “Family Tradition” at No. 80, Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn secured the No. 81 spot with their duet, “Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man.”

Released on May 28, 1973 as the title track and single from their third collaborative studio album, “Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man" became a massive hit. Excited fans of music and the arts who were eager to attend the first-ever edition of the long-running World of Music, Arts and Dance Festival, also known as the WOMAD Festival, in Scotland this summer will unfortunately be unable to enjoy it, as the event's been officially canceled.

The festival was scheduled to take place in Glasgow on July 3 and 4, but a surprising new announcement revealed that it won't be happening due to low ticket sales.

In a statement from Glasgow Life, which was working with WOMAD to host the festival, the organization said, via The Herald Scotland, "We are deeply disappointed to confirm that WOMAD Glasgow, scheduled to take place in Kelvingrove Park on 03 and 04 July, will no longer go ahead."

"This has been a difficult decision and one that has not been taken lightly," the statement went on. "While audience response to the programme and the vision for the event was extremely positive, ticket sales did not reach the level required to deliver the festival sustainably in its inaugural year."

Glasgow Life cited a "competitive and crowded market" and added, "We know this news will be hugely disappointing, particularly for those who have already purchased tickets, and we sincerely apologise for that."

The organization also thanked all of the artists, vendors, suppliers and more who were working with them to bring the Glasgow edition of WOMAD to life. For those who already purchased tickets to the event, Glasgow Life stated that everyone will receive a full refund within seven working days.

Glasgow Life also offered discounted tickets to the WOMAD Festival in Neston Park, North Wiltshire, set for July 23 to 26.

The WOMAD Festival started all the way back in 1982, founded by Peter Gabriel, and since its inaugural festival, it has expanded internationally, with editions taking place in many other U.K. cities and countries over the years.

Buddy Guy, a music legend celebrated for pioneering the Chicago "West Side" electric blues sound, surprised fans with exciting news.

Following the announcement of his 2026 tour in February, the award-winning artist delivered a major update, giving his supporters even more reason to celebrate.

In an Instagram post, the 89-year-old revealed that he was adding not just one but six special guests to join him on stage.

“It’s not a celebration without friends and we’re bringing along some great ones on the Buddy Guy 90 Tour! Get your tickets now at buddyguy.net,” the caption reads.

The special guests include blues-rock guitarist and singer Ally Venable, Blood Brothers, Carlisle Guy & the Nublu Band, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, D.K. Harrell and guitarist Taj Farrant, who will perform on select dates.

In February, Guy, whose real name is George Guy, first announced the upcoming tour, sparking an overwhelming response from fans.

The tour is also a celebration of his 90th birthday on July 30.

The iconic nine-time Grammy winner will travel across North America, kicking off the three-month run in Toronto on July 15 and visiting major cities such as Buffalo, Chicago, Milwaukee, Atlantic City and Dallas before wrapping up the tour in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in September.

Prior to his North American tour, Guy was scheduled to perform multiple shows in Australia for April.

However, the Australian leg of the tour was ultimately canceled due to the postponement of the Bluesfest 2026 Festival.

Ivanka Trumpand her husband, Jared Kushner, are facing a backlash over recent plans to turn a remote Albanian island into a luxury resort. 

President Donald Trump’s daughter and his son-in-law (via Kushner's investment firm) are in hot water over the project. Trump (Ivanka, that is) discussed the development in the Adriatic Sea during an interview with David Senra on the “Founders Podcast,” revealing, “I’m working on an incredible project with my husband in the Mediterranean. It’s massive in scale.” 

She continued, “We were on a friend’s boat and we stopped for a swim. Effectively, that’s how we found it. We swam to the island. We went on a hike, barefoot all the way up to the top and we were just captivated and it stayed with us ever since.”

Ivanka explained, “And over the course of many years, we developed the opportunity to help realize its potential and transform it, but with a lot of restraint and care because the land is so beautiful that really the architecture has to be fully integrated into it, almost rise from it.” 

The First daughter added, “You know, it’s not even a business for me despite the scale of it. Not only the island, but we have five miles of beachfront directly across from the island. This beautiful peninsula with a lagoon on one side, the ocean on the other, beautiful white sand beaches.”

Trump also shared, “For me, this feels more like a challenge than anything else. The culmination of all of my experience in real estate, all of my travel, a lot of reflection on how I want to live, how I think people increasingly are wanting to live and trying to really build something that’s a tangible manifestation of that. That requires a lot of vision.”

While Trump and Kushner have a vision for the land, the people of the region aren’t as sure. Protests in Albania’s capital, Tirana, erupted after plans for the resort got out. 

Dubbed the ‘flamingo revolution,’ protestors held flamingo-shaped cut-outs in reference to the birds, whose breeding ground will disappear when the development takes over. But flamingoes aren’t the only wildlife at risk from the proposed 10,000-room mega-hotel. The region is home to over 200 species of birds, nesting sea turtles, and Mediterranean monk seals. 

Environmental activist Joni Vorpsi said, in an interview with Euronews, “We are protesting against the intervention that has been carried out in Zvernec. The machinery should be removed, nature should be left free, and the area should be restored to its previous condition.” 

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama recently told CNN International that much of the recent backlash is fake news and noted, “There is not such a thing as the family of the American president taking over protected areas, where flamingoes will be killed by them.”

He continued, “The challenge is not to pour concrete over the heads of flamingoes. The challenge is to prove that development and nature can not only coexist, but that nature and development need each other.”

Elevated films within the thriller genre attempt to exceed audiences' expectations with expertly crafted, unexpected twists and an overwhelming sense of dread. The publication Colliderspotlighted some of the top thrillers by releasing a list of "the 10 most perfect thriller movies of the last 40 years."

The ranking, published on June 4, included hit thrillers released after 1986 like The Dark Knightfrom 2008, 1995's Se7en, Memories of Murder from 2003, and 1991's The Silence of the Lambs. According to Collider, Bong Joon Ho's Oscar-winning film Parasite, released in 2019, is the "most perfect thriller movie of the last 40 years."

Song Kang-ho & Bong Joon Ho Discussed Continuing Their Collaboration for 'Parasite' in a 2019 Interview

During a 2019 interview with IMDb, alongside the film's star Song Kang-ho, Joon Ho shared he wasn't quite sure where he got the inspiration for Parasite, which explores classism within the confines of the Parks' wealthy household and those who work for them.

"It was very strange. It was already inside me, like inside my brain. It's like a parasite. It's already there, but we don't know when and how it came to me. The idea was already there around 2013, during the post-production of Snowpiercer," said the celebrated director in the IMDb interview.

While speaking to IMDb, Kang-ho said he didn't know much about the film's plot before agreeing to star as Kim Ki-taek. He explained he was eager to collaborate with Joon Ho again after Memories of Murder and Snowpiercer.

"We've built a lot of trust over the last 20 years," said the actor.

Kang-ho also shared he was impressed by Parasite's unique and well-developed plot upon reading its script.

"I noticed a growing sharpness in director Bong's sense of humor and insight. He's very persistent, and sharp, and funny with what he wants to say. That was my first impression of the script," said Kang-ho in the IMDb interview.

Joon Ho then revealed he "was very nervous" about sharing the script with Kang-ho, as he wanted the actor to be excited about starring in the film.

"He's such a great actor. I was anxious about whether or not he would like the script I wrote. If he rejected the script, I would have killed everything. There is not an alternative. Only he can do this role," said Joon Ho, causing Kang-ho to smile.

Jimmy Kimmel called out CBS for firing longtime broadcast journalist Scott Pelley from 60 Minutes during his Wednesday night monologue.

The late-night host declared Pelley “had enough” after the “clowns who now run that show and the CBS News division” fired 60 Minutes employees, including Tanya Simon, Draggan Mihailovich, Sharyn Alfonsi, and Cecilia Vega.

Pelley was let go from the show after speaking out against newly appointed CBS News boss Bari Weiss and criticizing new executive producer Nick Bilton.

“That was it for Scott Pelley,” Kimmel said. “He said the collapse of values at the top has become untenable. And he let him have it in a staff meeting right to the new guy’s face.”

The comedian is known for speaking out about current events, politics, and President DonaldTrump.

“Last night, the Trump suck-ups at CBS fired a great and deeply respected journalist, Scott Pelley, from his job at ‘60 Minutes,'” Kimmel said, “because he stood up for truth and integrity at a show that’s been the gold standard for broadcast journalism for 57 years.”

"He said Scott Pelley is part of a gang of crooked, stupid people — different from the gang of crooked, stupid people he's a part of. And that should make for an interesting situation at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, which is apparently back on," he continued

Pelley released the following statement on social media after he was fired: "Stewardship of the program passed to my colleagues and me, our responsibility was to expand energetically into a new age of media technology while preserving the values our audience expects."

Adding, "Now, the new owner of our network is casting this legend aside, apparently to curry a moment of favor with the Trump administration. The waste is heartbreaking."

Chef Dave White had the audience firmly on his side as the Below Deck Mediterranean and Chopped alum raced to BeatBobby Flay. While the competition itself was heart-stopping, some of the biggest drama never made it to air.

White first bested award-winning Executive Sous Chef Rashida Holmes in a nail-biting chicken thigh challenge. He moved on to compete against Flay with a fish & chips showdown. But once he faced off against Flay, his momentum was threatened when he sliced his finger so badly that production suggested he step away from the competition for medical attention.

But the injury only fueled White's determination to beat Flay, and he pushed on despite the setback.

Wyze Recalls Solar Cam Pan Security Cameras Over Fire and Burn Risks Wyze Solar Cam Pan Security Camera

According to a U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recall notice, about 321,360 Wyze Solar Cam Pan Security Cameras have been deemed unsafe for use due to fire and burn hazards that could cause injury or property damage. An additional 2,560 units sold in Canada are also affected, with the CPSC documenting 13 incidents, including six fires, six cases of minor burns and multiple reports of overheating and explosions.

The recalled cameras are wire-free and equipped with motorized pan-and-tilt functionality and an integrated solar panel. Those who have similar Wyze cameras at home should check their units for model number WYZESCPWH, located on the backside of the camera. Per the CPSC, the devices were sold in white and contain a lithium-ion battery housed behind a metal casing. 

As for what triggered the recall, incorrect assembly instructions have led users to accidentally puncture the battery’s metal casing, causing it to rapidly overheat and increasing the risk of serious injury or property damage from fire and burn hazards. The recalled units were sold at Home Depot and Micro Center, online at Wyze.com, Temu, Amazon, B2B Renew, Inc., ReturnPro and Best Buy. They were also sold from October 2025 through April 2026 for about $80.

What to Do If You Own One

If you suspect you have one of the at-risk units at home, you are urged to stop using the camera immediately and visit http://www.wyze.com/SCPrecall to confirm whether your device is affected. Those who installed the solar panel using the long, flat-head screw should also participate in the recall, as this component is directly linked to the safety issue. And if you are unsure which screw was used, Wyze provides detailed guidance on its website.

SkinnyDipped Dark Chocolate Coconut Almond Bites have been recalled due to an undeclared peanut allergen.

Bazzini, LLC announced the news, per the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), revealing that they are "voluntarily recalling a limited number of cases of SkinnyDipped® Dark Chocolate Coconut Almond Bites, out of an abundance of caution, due to the possible presence of undeclared peanut allergen."

They added that people who have an allergy to peanuts "run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products."

Bazzini, LLC said that no allergic reactions or illness have been reported, but the recall comes after a "consumer reported allegedly finding peanut butter containing products in SkinnyDipped® Dark Chocolate Coconut Almond Bites individual wrappers within the 3.17oz. 10-count package," which is not an intended ingredient in the candy.

The company encouraged customers to return the recalled items to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Top Gun: Maverick actor James Handy has died at the age of 81.

According to ABC 7 News, Handy was the victim of a fatal stabbing in the Tarzana neighborhood of Los Angeles on Wednesday, June 3.

Officers first responded on Wednesday morning to a radio call of "unknown trouble." According to an LAPD news release, the 911 caller told dispatchers, "I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin."

When officers arrived at the residence, they found Handy unconscious in the front yard with a stab wound to the chest, authorities said. Paramedics transported the actor to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The suspect, 44-year-old Michael Gledhill, was identified by officers after he flagged them down and told them he was the one they were looking for, per police. Gledhill lived at the home with his mother, who was Handy's girlfriend.

Gledhill was arrested and booked for one count of murder, and his bail was set at $2,000,000.00.

Over his 50-year career, Handy accumulated over 100 television and film credits including "Jimmy" in Top Gun: Maverick and roles in Jumanji and Arachnophobia.

Taylor Frankie Paul just shared a shocking revelation about her season of The Bachelorette.

Paul’s season was scheduled to premiere in March. However, ABC pulled the plug three days before its scheduled premiere after TMZ released a never-before-seen video that appeared to show Paul assaulting her ex-boyfriendDakota Mortensen in 2023.

Around the same time the season was canceled, two Utah police departments opened separate domestic violence investigations into alleged altercations between Paul and Mortensen that reportedly took place in February 2026.

In April, the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office announced they declined to file charges against Paul for the alleged incidents. However, she and Mortensen remain embroiled in a custody battle over their 2-year-old son, Ever.

During a TikTok Live on Wednesday, June 3, amid the ongoing custody dispute, Mortensen’s roommate, Cru Eaton, alleged that Paul slept with Mortensen shortly after returning home from filming The Bachelorette and cheated on the fiancée she left the show engaged to.

Paul appeared to address the claim in the comments section of one of her TikTok videos before later deleting her account. Rather than denying the allegation outright, she took issue with the timeline.

Professional golfer Madelene Sagstrom is playing in the U.S. Women’s Open this week. While that’s news on its own, the real scoop is…she’s almost seven months pregnant! 

While most mothers-to-be are more than happy to relax on a comfy couch with a big bowl of ice cream on a warm June day, Sagstrom is playing 18 holes against some of the toughest competitors in the world. 

The 33-year-old told Golf, “Unless you are pregnant yourself or have kids, you don’t realize how hard it is.” She continued, “And I don’t think I realized it either. I mean, beginning this year, when I found out I was pregnant, I’m like, I’m gonna do this, this, and this. And then it hits you hard.” 

Even though it would be easy to take a break and go on an extended maternity leave, the golfer has a more adventurous view of her pro career: “But it’s kind of fun to test the boundaries. Like, what can I do? Can I actually figure this out?”
