"Total Eclipse of the Heart" hitmaker Bonnie Tyler has died at the age of 75.

According to a statement on her website, the beloved Welsh singer, born Gaynor Hopkins, died "unexpectedly" last night, July 8, 2026, at a hospital in Portugal.

"Bonnie’s family and team are heartbroken to announce that Bonnie unexpectedly passed away last night in hospital in Portugal as a result of the illness that she was being treated for," the statement read. "We will issue a further statement shortly but for now ask for privacy to deal with this tragedy."

In May, the Grammy-nominated singer was rushed to a hospital in Faro, Portugal, where she underwent emergency intestinal surgery and was placed in an induced coma to assist her in her recovery. Per the BBC, a spokesperson gave an update last month, stating that the "Holding Out For a Hero" singer was out of the coma but still remained unwell. Although her recovery was "slow," doctors seemed confident that she would recover from the illness.

Shortly after the news broke, BBC Morning Live host Gethin Jones interrupted the show to announce Tyler's death and pay tribute.

The presenter read out the statement from her website, adding: "Sad news" as co-host Kimberley Walsh said that Tyler was a "legend."

Jones went on to reminisce about the time he met the musician at the Queen's Jubilee in Swansea in 2022.

"She walked out and everyone just stopped," he recalled. "She had the most infectious, energetic personality, when it just lifts everyone."

Tyler, who was discovered by talent scout Roger Bell in a club in Wales, rose to fame in 1976 following the release of "Lost in France," which peaked at No. 9 on the UK Singles Chart. What followed were the singer's most iconic tracks, including 1978's "It's a Heartache," 1983's "Total Eclipse of the Heart," and 1984's "Holding Out for a Hero."

Earlier this year, "Total Eclipse of the Heart" reached a huge milestone after it surpassed one billion streams on Spotify.

Bonnie Tyler stood as one of the greatest and most unmistakable female voices in the history of the music industry. With her signature, husky delivery, the legendary singer defined the sound of a generation.

Yet despite a career filled with chart-topping triumphs, there was one pivotal behind-the-scenes moment she could never quite shake. It was a single choice made at the absolute height of her fame, and lingered with her for over four decades.

In a 2025 interview with The Telegraph, Tyler expressed her regret about turning down the opportunity to record a theme for the 1983 James Bond Film Never Say Never Again. She called it her worst decision.

"I’d love to do a [James] Bond theme because I turned one down for Never Say Never Again. My God, I was so excited when they asked me, but then I heard the song, and I didn’t believe in it," she explained.

Tyler added, "So, please, if anybody’s reading this, I wish they’d ask me again because I want a Bond song." Sadly, the singing superstar never had the opportunity fulfill her wish.

The theme for Never Say Never Again was sung by Lani Hall and composed by Michel Legrand with lyrics by Alan and Marilyn Bergman. The song did not hit the Billboard charts.

Despite missing out on the opportunity to be a part of the James Bond stable of singers, Tyler had a pretty remarkable career.

She won the World Song Festival in Japan in 1979. She represented the United Kingdom and won the Grand Prix International award for her performance of the song "Sitting on the Edge of the Ocean."

Coming in second place was Cissy Houston, gospel singer and Whitney Houston's mother. Tyler shared a photo with Whitney backstage on Facebook, writing, "Cissy Houston represented the US, and Whitney was there. She asked for my autograph backstage; she was only about 15 or 16 and so sweet."

The legendary Welsh vocalist transformed the landscape of pop-rock with her raspy, emotionally charged delivery, skyrocketing to global fame on the back of her breakout 1977 single, "It's a Heartache." She permanently redefined the sound of the 1980s with "Total Eclipse of the Heart" and the high-energy anthem "Holding Out for a Hero."

Deadline reported that Bonnie Tyler was placed in a medically induced coma in late April, 2026, after emergency surgery for a perforated intestine. The outlet reported, "A spokesperson later said she was out of the coma, but remained very unwell in hospital, with doctors predicting a slow recovery. Her health issues meant tour dates for this summer were cancelled."

Today marks what would have been the 80th birthday of the forever legendary Bon Scott, AC/DC's vocalist for their first seven records. Scott was with the band during their rise to fame internationally, including the legendary album "Highway to Hell." At the height of his success with the group and just before international acclaim, he would pass away from alcohol poisoning in 1980.

There is no AC/DC without Scott. He was a legend who helped foster the band into the iconic hard rock group we all know and love today. He is also someone who hasn't been forgotten all these years later, with Classic Rock Magazine crowning him as the greatest front-man of all time in 2004.

Scott's legacy is written with questions of "what if," as he was a light that was snuffed out far too soon. His death has entered rock mythology as a pivotal and enduring moment of tragedy that changed rock music forever. He was extremely young, being only 33 years old at the time. There's so much history the band would have been able to include him in had things gone differently.

His legacy remains today, with his grave in Australia becoming a declared national heritage site. It also endures through some of AC/DC's most legendary music, including their massive hit album "Back in Black," which was released as a tribute to Scott. The album features many of the band's biggest hits, and wouldn't exist without the memory he left behind.

It's a great shame in the music world that we don't get to celebrate Scott's 80th with him still here. He laid so much groundwork for the way rock and metal vocals would evolve over the coming years. You don't get any of the hard rock and metal acts of the eighties without him.

Happy Birthday, Bon. You're greatly missed.

More than three decades after forming, American rock band Staind is back on the Billboard 200 chart.

The group's compilation album, The Singles: 1996→2006, has re-entered the Billboard 200 at No. 195, marking an unexpected return for a collection that was first released nearly 20 years ago. The re-entry gives the band another chart milestone 31 years after its formation in 1995.

According to Billboard's latest rankings, the album returned to the chart after peaking at No. 41 on its original run and spending 12 weeks on the Billboard 200.

Staind formed in Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1995 with vocalist and rhythm guitarist Aaron Lewis, guitarist Mike Mushok, bassist Johnny April and drummer Jon Wysocki. The band became one of the biggest names in post-grunge and alternative rock during the early 2000s.

Released in November 2006 through Atlantic Records, The Singles: 1996→2006 was designed as a retrospective collection of the band's biggest songs from its first decade. The release also arrived alongside a companion DVD titled Staind: The Videos.

The collection includes many of the songs that helped define Staind's commercial peak, including "It's Been Awhile," "For You," "Epiphany," "So Far Away," "Price to Play," "Zoe Jane" and "Right Here."

The album also featured a remastered version of "Come Again" from the band's independent debut Tormented as well as live recordings from a 2006 performance at New York City's Hiro Ballroom.

Among those live tracks were covers of "Nutshell" by Alice in Chains, "Sober" by Tool and "Comfortably Numb" by Pink Floyd.

The renewed chart success arrives as interest in the band's catalog continues to grow ahead of several major projects.

Staind recently announced additional performances celebrating the 25th anniversary of its breakthrough album Break the Cycle, the record that turned the group into one of rock radio's biggest acts.

Released in 2001, Break the Cycle debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and produced the band's signature hit, "It's Been Awhile." The album eventually earned five-times platinum certification in the United States and sold millions of copies worldwide.

The record also produced fan favorites including "Fade," "Outside," "For You" and "Epiphany."

This fall, Staind will celebrate the landmark album with anniversary performances and a North American tour featuring Seether, Hoobastank and Hinder.

The band's return to touring has helped keep its music in front of longtime listeners while introducing the catalog to younger fans discovering early 2000s rock for the first time.

The chart comeback also comes as the band prepares for its next studio chapter. Guitarist Mike Mushok recently confirmed that Staind has completed work on its ninth studio album, which is tentatively expected to arrive in early 2027.

"We have a new record that's actually done," Mushok said while speaking during an interview at Sonic Temple festival, per Blabbermouth.

As for the release schedule, he added: "It won't be out this year, I don't think."

The upcoming project will follow 2023's Confessions of the Fallen, the band's first studio album in 12 years. Mushok also suggested the group will continue experimenting with newer sounds introduced on that record.

For a band that started in Massachusetts clubs in 1995, returning to the Billboard 200 in 2026 with a greatest-hits collection released in 2006 is another reminder that rock audiences continue to revisit the songs that defined an era.

Few Hollywood careers inspire the kind of affection reserved for the woman behind Norma Rae, Steel Magnolias and Mrs. Doubtfire. So when the Television Academy revealed its 2026 nominees on Wednesday morning, is was unusually satisfying to see the Flying Nun herself, Sally Field, back in the Emmy race for the first time in 17 years.

The 79-year-old earned a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Netflix's Remarkably Bright Creatures, according to our own Parade reporting, which listed her among the morning's happiest surprises. Based on Shelby Van Pelt's bestselling 2022 novel, the film stars Field as Tova Sullivan, a widow who takes a job at an aquarium and forms an unlikely bond with a giant octopus while searching for answers about her son's disappearance. Lewis Pullman co-stars in the adaptation, which premiered on the streamer May 8.

The nod ends what Deadlinedescribed as a "17-year drought" for one of television's most decorated performers. Field has won three Emmys across her remarkable run, for the 1976 TV movie Sybil, a memorable guest arc on ERin 2000 and the family drama Brothers & Sisters in 2007. Her Emmy nominations stopped arriving after that series wrapped, even as her film work kept earning acclaim, including an Oscar nomination for playing Mary Todd Lincoln in 2012's Lincoln.

Wednesday's announcement, presented in Los Angeles by Emmy winners Jeff Hiller and Liza Colón-Zayas, produced surprises in nearly every category, from unexpected acting nods to full shutouts of heavily campaigned series. But few of those noms carried the warmth of Field's return to the race. Awards coverage across the industry singled out her nomination as one of the day's feel-good headlines, a rarity in a morning defined largely by snub talk.

Remarkably Bright Creatures marked Field's first film since 2023, ending a three-year stretch away from acting. The star, who turns 80 in November, has spent much of this year celebrating six decades in Hollywood, a journey that began with a teenage Gidget in 1965 and grew to include two Best Actress Oscars, a Tony and a SAG Life Achievement Award. Emmy voters clearly responded to the same tenderness that had audiences reaching for tissues this spring.

She joins a competitive year across the board. The Pitt led all programs with 25 nominations, followed by the final season of Hacks with 24. The 78th Emmy Awards, hosted by Mariska Hargitay, air September 14 on NBC and Peacock, giving Field a little more than two months to prepare for a return to a stage she knows well. Fans have been saying it since that famous 1985 Oscar speech, and Wednesday's announcement proved the Television Academy agrees: they still like her.

Ringo Starr celebrated his 86th birthday with a very special honor from the University of Liverpool.

The Beatles member, who celebrated turning 86 with his annual Peace and Love Birthday Event at Beverly Gardens Park in Beverly Hills, Calif., was presented with an honorary doctorate by the University of Liverpool before the party got underway on Tuesday, July 7.

“I want to thank the University of Liverpool for this honorary degree and for coming all the way to L.A. to bestow it—I’m really honored,” Starr said of the distinction, as per the BBC.

The drummer also passed on his advice to graduates back in his hometown of Liverpool.

“I’ve been thinking back on my life a lot lately, and when I chose to become a drummer full-time, my family discouraged me,” he said, according to the outlet. “And they could have been right, but they weren’t—it all worked out.”

“So to all the graduates back in Liverpool, I send peace and love and want to say don’t be afraid to follow your dreams, or take that right turn and see where it goes," he continued.

University of Liverpool chancellor Wendy Beetlestone called it a "great privilege" to recognize Starr with an honorary doctorate, praising him for his "influential music work, particularly in The Beatles," which has "helped shape the identity and global reputation of Liverpool,” according to the BBC.

Beetlestone added that Starr has played a "key role" in making Liverpool a location that inspires people to both visit and study.

Vice-chancellor professor Tim Jones agreed, "This honorary degree expresses our sincere respect for the contribution Ringo has made to music and to Liverpool's heritage and culture."

Starr's big bash also featured the musician's traditional "Peace and Love" chant, which has been a special part of his birthday since 2008. Starr was joined at the event by his wife, Barbara Bach, as well as a host of famous guests, including Grammy-winning guitarist T-Bone Burnett, iconic drummer Jim Keltner and actor Ed Begley Jr.

Bill Ward, the iconic drummer and co-founder of Black Sabbath, shared a personal update with fans regarding his current condition.

The 78-year-old legend took to social media, revealing changes in how he gets around.

In an Instagram post, the '60s rock star was all smiles as he sat in a wheelchair, still looking dapper in an all-black outfit.

According to Ward, it has been about 18 months since he began using a wheelchair in public for mobility, especially in airports and at special events.

Moreover, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee mentioned that he "can still walk," but because of his age, walking long distances has become more difficult.

Despite his age and condition, Ward proudly reassured fans that his passion for making music remains as strong as ever and that he can still play drums well.

As for retirement, the Black Sabbath co-founder made it clear that he has no intention of retiring or stepping away from music.

“My talents and ambitions, and my unyielding need to be artful, and to play drums, is still as strong as it was so many years ago now. I’m just saying if you see me in a wheelchair, I’m just catching a ride, I’m not in retirement or ill or giving up, or any of those thoughts that ignite when we see people in wheelchairs. I’m making myself public and transparent about my new transport and letting you know I’m OK. If you see me in the airports or visiting friends in the music arenas or theatres, say hi, I don’t bite, I’ll just look different, as pictured here. Much love to you all and I’ll keep rocking until I’m dead,” he said.

The heartfelt message sparked an outpouring of support, with fans praising his resilience and positive outlook.

“Those feet have been the backbone of heavy music for 57 years, they need and deserve a rest here and there,” one wrote.

“You're not simply a drummer; you are a LEGENDARY drummer. I love you Bill,” a commenter said.

The drummer's health update came almost a year after the passing of bandmate Ozzy Osbourne.

At 76, he passed away on July 22, 2025, due to acute myocardial infarction and cardiac arrest, following a Parkinson's disease diagnosis in 2019.

Following Osbourne's death, Ward penned an emotional tribute to the late Black Sabbath vocalist, sharing his “deepest condolences” to his wife, Sharon and their children.

49 years ago today, Elvis Costello quit his job at a cosmetics factory to pursue music full-time. Although he became a rock legend, none of his songs ever made it to the top of the Billboard Hot 100. His 1989 song, “Veronica,” was his highest-charting song. It peaked at No. 19.

“Veronica” was co-written by Costello and Paul McCartney. The lyrics were inspired by Costello's grandmother, who suffered from Alzheimer's. Her Catholic confirmation name,  Veronica, inspired the title of the song.

During a BBC interview, Costello spoke about the creation of the song. He said, “I wanted to write a song about this old person sitting there and appearing to be completely gone, as we say, but really coming and going and sometimes being completely lucid—but not making it a sentimental song. I wanted it to be sort of defiant and happy, as if it was about a very young girl who was just starting out her life.”

He continued, “I really took a lot of it from when I was talking with my grandmother, when I went to visit her during the last few years of her life. It’s like a love song in a way for her, but written as if it’s about a young girl. The pop music thing bears that up—people will hear the song and maybe say, 'Oh yeah, it’s about this young girl Veronica,' and then maybe listen a little bit more. I’m not making any big point, it’s just a little bit of hope and a love song from me.”

Costello also spoke about what it was like working with the iconic Beatle in an interview with The Current. “When you mentioned Paul—yes, it is really, really something to say that you wrote 15 songs for Paul McCartney because of all the other songs he wrote, and maybe even a few I wrote, but the thing I take to heart most of all is the starting point for that collaboration was ‘Veronica.’”

He continued, “The first song we wrote, ‘Veronica,’ is a song about my grandmother's descent into Alzheimer's dementia. And the fact that he had the heart to see what story I had brought into the room, and helped me make it into a coherent song, where the bright carriage of the music allowed people to hear the song as a pop music piece before they realized what it was about. So I don't so much, you know, as you say, you heard the song before you realize it's a collaboration. I think it's possible to make music that's about serious, even tragic subjects, and have people appreciate the music that carries them before the implication of the lyric arrives in their understanding. That's very true.”

Costello is 71. He is still actively performing and is currently on his tour, Radio Soul!: The Songs of Elvis Costello From The Early Days to the Late Hours. He is set to perform on August 8 in Massachusetts.

Bonnie Tyler, queen of the ‘80s rock ballad, died this morning at 75.

She passed unexpectedly in a hospital in Portugal, where she was being treated for an illness.

Her family shared the news today in a statement on her official website. According to NPR, she was hospitalized in May in Faro, where she had a home, for emergency intestinal surgery and was later placed in an induced coma.

“Bonnie’s family and team are heartbroken to announce that Bonnie unexpectedly passed away last night in a hospital in Portugal as a result of the illness that she was being treated for,” the statement read.

As fans around the world mourn the loss of the Grammy-nominated Welsh pop singer, many are looking back at her final live performances—clips that have become poignant farewells no one realized were goodbyes.

In one performance, she takes the stage at the Centennial Hall (Hala Stulecia) in Wroclaw, Poland, on June 20, 2025, performing a full headline set and treating fans to gravelly renditions of her greatest hits. Set within Wroclaw’s UNESCO World Heritage Site, the grand, domed architecture of the hall proved a breathtaking backdrop, with the acoustics elevating the song's dramatic buildup and making the experience feel majestic and immersive. In a word, it seemed magical.

During her music career, Tyler earned three Grammy nods, came in the Top 20 at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2013 for Britain, and received an MBE for her services to music from Queen Elizabeth II in 2023. Much of her success can be attributed to her signature hit, which, per NPR, has been streamed more than 1 billion times.

The No. 1 smash camped out at the top spot for four weeks on the Billboard Hot 100. Written and produced by Jim Steinman, the track made Tyler the first Welsh singer to top the chart and ranked as the No. 6 song of 1983 on the Billboard Year-End Hot 100.

“I never get tired of ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart,’” Tyler told the BBC in 2023.

Ahead of the highly anticipated Mediterranean debut of Legend of the Seas, Chairman and CEO Jason Liberty gave us a peek into the jaw-dropping creativity driving the cruise line's newest megaships. The pool decks on Chill Island have been cleverly tweaked, packing in four massive pools flanked by elevated hot tubs and more loungers, meaning you are never left wandering around with your towel looking for a spot to land. Over at The Hideaway, the adults-only beach club space has been beautifully reconfigured with three distinct zones that bring those coveted, high-energy CocoCay wake views straight onto the ship. It feels exactly like a secret, upscale infinity-pool party that never quite ends.

They completely changed the layout around Swim & Tonic too, making the area much bigger so it flows right into The Frozen Lime & Coconut bar next door. According to Jennifer Goswami, Senior Director of Product Development, making sure guests are connected to the ocean around them was the main goal: "In addition to seeing the water, we want our guests to be in the water while looking at the water." By opening up the deck space, they made their largest swim-up bar area yet, so you are always close to a spot where you can jump in and cool off.

For the kids—and let's be honest, the grownups too—the massive Category 6 waterpark, the rock wall, and the jaw-dropping Crown’s Edge skywalk have been spaced out to give families serious room to move around. The layout is so big that your kids won't even be able to see everything until day four or five. A hidden favorite here is Basecamp, an underrated casual food spot that quickly became a personal go-to for a quick bite between slides. Down in the Surfside family neighborhood, they made changes specifically for slightly older kids up to age 11 to have more to enjoy. While the Lemon Post bar remains the best place for a refreshing family drink, the real highlight is the neighborhood's absolute newest addition: a custom-designed rubber-duck carousel that is pure, whimsical joy.

When it comes to the evening entertainment, Royal Caribbean is operating on a level that other cruise lines haven't even mapped out yet. Inside the Absolute Zero ice arena, the new show Fusion brings cutting-edge indoor drone technology right onto the ice. The choreography is an absolute dream, spinning you through a nostalgic Central Park skating scene, a sizzling flamenco-and-tango mashup, a wild psychedelic sea-creature interlude, and a jaw-dropping drone-filled finale that left me on my feet, clapping my hands with the biggest smile on my face. Christi Coachman-Orengo, Vice President of Entertainment revealed that the production features a lucky number: 48 kinetic lights and 48 indoor drones that fly directly alongside the cast. "We are skating with them. They're part of it. They're making the elements come alive."

Over at the Royal Theater, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is an absolute triumph. It marks a historic first for the cruise line by bringing real child actors on board to play Charlie, rotating two brilliant young performers who travel with their parents and tutors. Backed by a phenomenal live orchestra, every single Veruca Salt temper tantrum and Oompa Loompa number feels incredibly loyal to the story's roots, yet completely customized for the sea. At an hour and a half, it feels punchier, tighter and honestly more fun than the Broadway or movie versions.

Then there is Shockwave inside the signature AquaDome. This water-and-aerial spectacle is an absolute powerhouse, featuring Olympic-class divers rocking out to 2010s anthems from MGMT and Coldplay while pulling off unbelievable high-dives and aerial stunts. I couldn't get enough of it—and the fact that my quick video of the performance already racked up 5,000 views on social media tells you everything you need to know.

If ice-skating drones aren't enough, Legend of the Seas is also making history as the first ship ever to headline a stage production in partnership with the Got Talent global franchise. Staged inside the Royal Theater, the show will bring a fast-paced, rotating lineup of fan-favorite illusionists, acrobats and danger acts right to the ocean.

The smart, industry-leading lobby elevator systems and additional escalators in key spots around the ship completely eliminate those classic bottleneck crowds, making it incredibly easy for grandparents and toddlers to navigate the ship.

If you wander through the lush greenery of Central Park, you’ll find it’s no longer just a place to quickly pass through on your way to dinner. Whimsical sculptures are scattered everywhere, from a shiny chrome octopus guarding the Pearl Café to sunbathers perched high above the living trees of Central Park and a gleaming giant flamingo down in Surfside that perfectly evokes those carefree, endless-summer vibes.

Behind all the glitz, Legend is also making quiet, massive strides in sustainability. It stands as the line's very first true hybrid-ready ship primarily utilizing Liquified Natural Gas (LNG), which is cleaner and 24% more efficient than traditional marine fuels. On top of that, the line has implemented a brilliant, homegrown AI-driven program that has successfully slashed onboard food waste by a staggering 47%. The operations team actually analyzes and "rakes" the galley leftovers to train staff on optimal prep methods, using predictive AI on the front end to ensure they are procuring exactly what is needed without over-preparing.

Ultimately, Legend of the Seas feels less like a traditional cruise ship and more like a gorgeous, sun-drenched playground built for the ultimate family escape. It's warmer, more enveloping, and more tightly edited than anything that came before it. Huey Lewis is an iconic rocker from Huey Lewis and the News, the band that released the 1984 power ballad, “The Power of Love.” They also released popular songs like “I Want a New Drug” and “The Heart of Rock & Roll.” Unfortunately, Lewis recently revealed that music is no longer part of his life.

The singer was diagnosed with Ménière’s disease in the mid-1990s. On the July 7 episode of the “Inside of You” podcast, he spoke about his experience with the chronic illness, which causes fluid to collect in the inner ear, causing damage.

“At a certain point, you gotta face the music… I can’t hear music,” the star revealed, as reported by PEOPLE. “Music is not part of my life anymore, which is a hard pill to swallow.”

He went on to explain that he has a cochlear implant to help him. However, it can distort voices and music.

He also revealed that he envies his bandmates who are still playing music at this point in their life, like John Pierce, who was the bass player for the band. He is currently the bassist for Toto after joining in 2020.

“I gotta say, God, I’d like to do that,” Lewis revealed. “So there are pangs. And I can’t enjoy music. Like when I cook or have people over for dinner, I always used to play them music. And I have a great collection of old big band stuff and old New Orleans jazz and I don’t play it at all anymore.”

He continued, “I’m mildly dizzy all the time, and my hearing just went to zero. The worst part is that means it’s bad enough not to be able to perform and sing and play, but it’s really bad not to even be able to enjoy music.”

He added, “I miss a show once in a while, I miss the camaraderie of the fellows and the circus-like thing that it is, but man, I’ve been fishing so many great places and had so many great experiences. I gotta kinda look at the positive.”

Garth Brooks has always found ways to surprise his fiercely loyal fans, but his latest announcement might just be his most intimate yet.

As the 64-year-old country music icon gears up for his highly anticipated 2026 Blame It All On My Roots tour, he isn't just planning a standard setlist; he's pulling back the curtain to give long-time listeners a rare, behind-the-scenes look at its preparation. Explaining that "this is personal," the superstar’s emotional "thank you" shows how deeply he wants to connect with fans.

From tackling ticket inflation and scalper markets to designing unique nightly setlists, Garth Brooks is laying all his cards on the table. The goal is to ensure he is delivering the absolute best possible experience for the people who matter most: the fans.

This is why, per Good Morning America, the entertainer revealed that every seat will cost the same no matter where it is located within any given arena. Tickets are priced at $154, which includes a $140 ticket, a $4 facility fee, and a $10 service charge, plus applicable taxes.

The country superstar concluded, "Every move you make on tour — from picking the cities and the venues to ticket pricing and the level of production — it's all communication between the artist and the believer. And it's my opinion that communication begins long before the artist takes the stage.”

Garth Brooks’s last major arena tour was The Garth Brooks World Tour, which ran from 2014 through 2017. It marked the country music legend's massive return to the stage after 13 years of retirement.

The tour marked his first since stepping away from the road to focus on raising his daughters, Taylor, August, and Allie. Before committing to the massive arena trek, he said he talked it over with his children and his wife, Trisha Yearwood, to make sure the timing felt right for their family.

“It sure feels good to get to throw your hat back in the ring,” Brooks said at the time. “All my babies are fine with it. Ms. Yearwood is fine with it. So now I get to do what I love to do, which is play music."

Garth Brooks Blame It All On My Roots Tour tickets go on sale Friday, July 17, at 10 a.m. ET at Ticketmaster. Thus far, only two dates have been announced, on August 21 and 22 at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.

WARNING! The following contains spoilers for Little House on the Prairie Season 1, now streaming on Netflix. Please don't read further if you don't intend to find out what happens at the end of the season.

In creating Netflix's version of Little House on the Prairie, showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine was very adamant to avoid comparisons to its iconic predecessor. Running from 1974 to 1983 on NBC, the Western drama of the same name had America falling in love with the work of Laura Ingalls Wilder, with powerhouse performances from Melissa Gilbert and Michael Landon. It would be inevitable that fans of the series would have thoughts about the new version, of course, but the more Netflix could direct that wagon down a different trail, the better.

Indeed, the eight-episode first season, which dropped on June 9, is a far cry from Walnut Grove — literally. The Ingalls instead settle down in rural Kansas, the setting of not only Ingalls Little House on the Prairie novel, but also the pilot film for the previous series. After myriad adventures on the plains, a series of unfortunate events force the family to once again pack up their belongings, this time heading to an iconic Minnesota riverbank in Season 2. But, despite how much Netflix's Little House series looks vastly different from the NBC version, there exists a single Easter egg in the form of a blink-and-you-miss-it cameo.

In Episode 2, John Edwards (Warren Christie), the town misanthrope, has befriended the Ingalls after helping build their eponymous little house. After finding out about his dark past, however, Caroline (Crosby Fitzgerald) tells him off, causing him to suddenly disappear. Having befriended the loner, Laura (Alice Halsey), along with her sister Mary (Skywalker Hughes) go off in search of him. After getting lost in the fields of waving wheat, they hear what they believe is Edwards' harmonica, walking towards the noise.

But what they find is quite a different sight. Three seedy individuals, sitting around a fire, spot the girls, and invite them to join them. One of them, a seemingly kind older woman, claims that Edwards is with them, and would return momentarily. However, as the seconds pass, the situation becomes shadier and shadier. When Laura's instincts causes her try to plan a quick escape, the woman grabs her, insisting she's keeping her safe from the wolves. Laura bites her in response, ramping up the tension. But that immediately dissipates when Edwards arrives, saving the kids from a possible life-threatening situation.

The emotional scene is a fantastic lesson in "Stranger Danger." But, ironically, the person at the front of it is a familiar face to Little House fans: Alison Arngrim.

"I wrote that episode," Sonnenshine tells Parade about the cameo from the original actress behind Nellie Oleson. "And then I thought, wouldn't it be fun to bring in Alison Arngram as this crazy woman on the prairie? I just felt like, 'Maybe she'd be up for it. She seems very cool.'"

Sonnenshine admits she forgot about the idea until production for the show started. And, while the iconic character of Nellie isn't set to show up on Little House until an already-confirmed Season 2 (played by Willa Dunn), it was her tip of the cowboy hat to the frontier girl everyone loves to hate.

"I know how much Nellie Oleson means to people as a character," she says. "She doesn't appear in the season because they haven't made it to Walnut Grove yet. But I thought this is a way that we could bring her in because she's so important to people."

Of course, despite how fun of an idea the cameo was on paper, Arngrim would have to agree to it first and foremost. But Sonnenshine says, not only was she happy to do it, she fully committed to the bit.

"She was such a great sport," she recalls. "She was like, 'Can I have more stuff on my teeth?' And I said 'Yes, of course!' She was so delightful and fun and energetic and down for all of it. We're just really lucky. It was definitely a dream come true."

Arngrim is the only person from the original series who makes a cameo in the Little House reboot. But that doesn't preclude other cast members from showing up in the Netflix version. Indeed, Sonnenshine reveals that, while working on the series, she has had the opportunity to rub elbows with a number of people from the NBC original.

"I have gotten to meet people at some events," she says. "And they could not be more lovely. They're so supportive. They've gone out of their way to tell me how excited they are about the show, and to sort of spread the word. I can't tell you how much that means to me. It's just so kind and wonderful, and very much in the spirit of Little House on the Prairie."

On July 9, 1964, a future rock queen was born in San Francisco, California.

Courtney Love, the legendary frontwoman of the ‘90s grunge rock band Hole, turns 62 today. Love is known as the “queen of grunge,” crowned with the name by Vogue in 2020.

As the singer and primary songwriter on songs such as “Miss World,” “Violet,” “Celebrity Skin” and more, Love was a trailblazer who helped make Hole a defining band during the 1990s grunge movement. She became known for her powerful, personal lyrics and raspy vocal delivery—all while rocking slip dresses and tiaras and jamming her guitar.

While she was known as one of the '90s most controversial rock stars due to her unpredictable behavior, Love also found success as an actress, earning a Golden Globe nomination for her role in the 1996 film The People vs. Larry Flynt. She was married to Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain from 1992 until his death in 1994 and is the mother of Frances Bean Cobain.

Love was recently named one of the greatest rock frontwomen of all time by BBC Music. The outlet noted that Hole legend’s “willingness to embrace imperfection, confront taboo subjects, and pour personal turmoil into performance helped define post-grunge and alternative rock, making her influence both enduring and uncompromising.”

Despite her influence on the grunge/alt rock era, Love once told the Washington City Paper she “wasn’t allowed” to be part of grunge.

“Soundgarden, Mudhoney … I was so marginalized,” she shared. “I was like the Red Hot Chili Peppers. … We were never part of that stuff. We were never grunge. … It’s only in revising history that people are saying that. …I always wanted to be in that boys’ club that was grunge. …We were on our own. That is history. That is an accurate historical fact.”

What would Love take credit for? ‘90s grunge fashion, at least some of it.

“History is funny,” she told Interview magazine in a 2019 Q&A. “I would say that Calvin Klein didn’t actually invent slip dresses as outerwear in ’91. I did. At least more than him.”

Love also looked back on her career and admitted she couldn’t imagine starting out in a band today.

“I don’t know that I could do it now,” she told Interview. “I don’t feel like the reward for being in a rock band is quite enough. …  And right now, unless you’re gonna do the Ariana Grandething, it would be really hard to do. Not that being in a rock band is ever easy, but right now, there just doesn’t seem to be a lot of upside to it.”
