College graduations usually come with applause. Noah Schnapp’s came with full-on screaming.

The Stranger Thingsstar graduated from the University of Pennsylvania over the weekend, sharing photos and videos from the ceremony on Instagram on Monday, May 18. The milestone came a few days after Schnapp attended the Cannes Film Festival for the premiere of El Ser Querido (The Beloved).

But one clip in particular got quite the response. As Schnapp walked across the stage to receive his diploma, the crowd erupted into loud cheers and applause, with some even screaming at the actor during the commencement ceremony.

Millie Bobby Brown's Beachy Bikini Snap Might Have Revealed Her Daughter's Name

Mon, 05/18/2026 - 8:16pm

Millie Bobby Brown just posted a bikini photo that turned heads for two reasons, including the possible revelation of her baby daughter's name.

On May 17, the Stranger Things star, 22, took to Instagram with a beach selfie. The snap showed her doing a pout face with her lips slightly parted while rocking a yellow bikini.

"Juicyyyy 🩵," the actress, who played Eleven in the sci-fi supernatural mystery series, captioned her update.

In the photo, Brown’s hair appeared wet as she wore a necklace featuring multicolored beads and a charm. However, eagle-eyed followers quickly pointed out what the charm appeared to say, thinking it was a clue.

"Her necklace says Ruth! Baby name??!!" one Instagram user wondered.

To that, a second fan pointed out, "It's her grandmas, I think, but she could've named her baby after herr, soo."

Someone else exclaimed, "RUTH OMG🥹."

A different follower declared, "Your daughter’s name is Ruth!!! So cute!!"

As of writing, Brown has neither confirmed nor denied the speculation that her daughter's name is Ruth.

Brown and her husband, Jake Bongiovi, announced that they had become a family of three in a joint Instagram post in August 2025.

"This summer, we welcomed our sweet baby girl through adoption," they shared. "We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy."

Since then, the protective mother has avoided posting pictures showing her baby girl's face. Brown has instead opted for sweet snaps showing the infant from behind, or just a small portion of her. In February, for example, she marked her 22nd birthday with a photo of herself and her daughter sitting in the sand at a beach.

During a November interview with British Vogue, Brown explained, “For me, it’s really important to protect her and her story until she’s old enough to potentially one day share it herself. It’s not my place to purposefully put her in the spotlight unwillingly.”

She and Bongiovi, the son of Jon Bon Jovi, have been married since May 2024.

Captain Jason Makes a Shocking Decision About Jenna’s Future on ‘Below Deck Down Under’

Mon, 05/18/2026 - 7:59pm

In a surprising twist, second stew Jenna Woudberg is demoted on Below Deck Down Under after her shocking crash-out during the crew's night out.

After the addition of Barbie Pascual put Jenna on edge, Jenna made it clear to Barbie that she was pursuing both Chef Ben Robinson and deckhand Eddy Hounsell. She then started sending flirty texts to Eddy, telling him she missed him, while continuing to flirt with Ben. Her attempt to lock down both crew members backfired when Eddy shared the texts with Ben, leading both men to conclude they were being played.

So when Ben confronted Jenna and then friend-zoned her at dinner, and Eddy made it clear he was annoyed with her, she began to spiral, with her tantrum spilling out to the rest of the yachties. She lashed out at Chief Stew Daisy Kelliher when Daisy tried to speak with her, then took her tearful breakdown back to the boat.

Jenna confronted Ben in his cabin before angrily slamming doors, cornering Eddy, yelling at stew Alesia Harris, and climbing over furniture, while the stunned crew watched the meltdown unfold. "Jenna's actions right now are unacceptable," Second Officer João Franco says in a confessional. "Literally running up and down the main salon. Slamming doors, screaming, shouting, it's becoming poisonous and toxic and uncontrollable."

After stumbling and yelling her way into her cabin, Jenna leaves the crew stunned — and Eddy genuinely concerned for her. The next morning, he even sends Jenna a message asking if he can hug her, but she ignores the text. Instead, she finds Ben in a guest cabin, where the two begin snuggling and kissing. And just as things heat up, guess who comes looking for her? Eddy.

Now Eddy is spiraling right alongside Jenna. At this point, both Ben and Daisy fill Captain Jason Chambers in on what’s been happening. Although Captain Jason plans to speak with Eddy, the anger, hurt, and frustration continue to build. By the time the captain finally reaches him, Eddy says he’s ready to quit.

Fed up with the drama, Captain Jason calls Jenna and Daisy to the bridge, which is when he tells Jenna he's demoting her from second stew. "I don't like getting involved too much in personal stuff, but the last 24 hours I've had two people come to me with concerns," Captain Jason tells Jenna. "We nearly lost Ed. That's a concern. As it's starting to affect my team. I'm not penalizing you. I want you to learn."

He continued, "I'm going to take away your role as second stewardess." Jenna agreed with Captain Jason's decision, but is tearful and sobbing back in her cabin.

Demoting Jenna may have done the trick because Jenna returns to work, head down, despite the demotion.

Below Deck Down Under is on Mondays at 8 p.m. on Bravo.

1974 No. 1 Soft Rock Hit, Originally Considered a Throwaway, Ranked One of the 'Greatest Songs of All Time'

Mon, 05/18/2026 - 7:37pm

Even though she wrote some of the most beloved and critically acclaimed songs of all time, Joni Mitchell only had a few tunes that were successful on the charts. Technically, her biggest hit ever was "Help Me," which went all the way to #1 on the Easy Listening chart and peaked at #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 in June 1974. But as far as Mitchell herself was concerned, the classic track was just a "throwaway" song.

The lyrics to the song, released as a single from the album Court and Spark, are from the point of view of someone who can't help falling for someone (even though they know they probably shouldn't get involved):

"Help me, I think I'm fallin' in love again / When I get that crazy feelin' I know I'm in trouble again / I'm in trouble 'cause you're a rambler and a gambler / And a sweet talkin' ladies man / And you love your lovin' (lovin') / Not like you love your freedom"

In a 1988 interview with Timothy White, Mitchell called "Help Me" a "throwaway song" (though she acknowledged it was a "good radio record").

"My record companies always had a tendency to take my fastest songs on albums for singles, thinking they'd stand out because they did on the LPs. Meantime, I'd feel that the radio is crying for one of my ballads," Mitchell said.

As the Grammy winner explained, she has "nothing to do with the choosing of tracks for singles."

"Generally speaking, I don't agree with the selections, and there are tracks that never get played on the radio that I regret won't get that exposure," she continued. "So I like the idea of well-received singles and am sorry when they don't get a chance to happen."

Mitchell thought "Car on the Hill" "would have been a good single."

View this post on Instagram

"I wish that was circulating in the golden oldies department because it has a vitality today, it would work," she said. "'Troubled Child' too, and 'Just Like This Train,' which I'd rather hear on the radio than 'Raised on Robbery.'"

Even if "Help Me" wasn't one of Mitchell's favorite songs, it's still considered one of her best. The track was ranked #404 on Rolling Stone's list of "500 Greatest Songs of All Time," with the publication calling it "one of Mitchell’s sultriest vocals and most brocaded arrangements."

Prince, a huge fan of Mitchell's work, even paid tribute to "Help Me" in the lyrics of his own song, “Ballad of Dorothy Parker.” And over 50 years after it was released, "Help Me" is still a hit: At the time of this writing, it's been streamed over 28 million times on Spotify alone.

1972 Soul Reimagining of an 1893 American Hymn Became the Country's Unofficial National Anthem

Mon, 05/18/2026 - 7:25pm

Ahead of Memorial Day weekend and the country's 250th birthday this summer, one patriotic song keeps showing up at big American events: Ray Charles' 1972 version of "America the Beautiful." Charles took a melody and a poem two American strangers had stitched together six decades earlier and made it the country's unofficial national anthem.

A Song Two Strangers Wrote Decades Apart

Katharine Lee Bates, an English professor at Wellesley College, wrote the lyrics as a poem in 1893 after a train trip to Colorado Springs. The view from atop Pikes Peak gave her the line "purple mountain majesties." She published it on July 4, 1895, in a church paper called The Congregationalist.

The melody was older. Church organist Samuel A. Ward had written it in 1882 on a ferry ride home from Coney Island, originally to pair with the hymn "O Mother Dear, Jerusalem." Ward and Bates never met. An editor combined their work in 1910, more than seven years after Ward died.

How Ray Charles Made It the Definitive Version

Charles cut his recording for his 1972 album A Message from the People, produced by Quincy Jones. The album was a protest record at its core. Charles opens the track with the third verse, the one about "heroes proved in liberating strife," then returns to the first.

The single barely registered commercially, peaking at No. 98 on the R&B chart in 1976. But it became the version. The Recording Academy inducted Charles' recording into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2005. He sang it at the 1984 Republican National Convention and at Super Bowl XXXV in 2001, and his recording aired on New Year's Eve in Times Square for years afterward.

Bates died in 1929 thinking the song belonged to America. She wasn't wrong.

We Asked 3 Psychologists What Usually Causes Divorce Over 50—They All Said the Same Thing

Mon, 05/18/2026 - 7:21pm

With something as scary, heartbreaking and even traumatic as divorce, it’s understandable that you may want to know the usual causes in hopes of avoiding it. Or, maybe you’re someone who has already gotten a divorce, and you want to feel less alone in your experience.

Ending a marriage, or even thinking about it, can easily be a complicated, emotional and time-consuming process, perhaps especially when you’re over 50 years old. At that point, you might have been married for longer, divorced before or wondered how much a divorce is “worth it”—especially given how unappealing the dating pool looks right now, am I right? It’s a hard decision, and making it during an already hard time may feel simply impossible, especially without help.

To provide you with some expert-backed insight, Parade asked three psychologists what usually causes divorce in people 50 or older, and they pointed to one thing (which we’ll reveal below). They also share why more couples over 50 are ending their marriages, along with the pros and cons of a “gray divorce" and how to work on your relationship. Basically, whatever route you choose or are considering, Parade has you covered with psychologists’ advice. For more information and solidarity, keep reading.

The Most Common Cause of Divorce in Couples Over 50, According to 3 Psychologists

Dobrila Vignjevic/Getty Images

A laundry list of concerns can contribute to or cause divorce, but when it comes to the main cause between partners who are over 50, there’s one that comes to mind for psychologists.

“For many people over 50, the primary contributor to a divorce is ‘empty nest syndrome,’” saysDr. Tara Lally, PhD, a supervising psychologist at Hackensack Meridian Health.

Basically, this is when kids leave the house—to go to college, to live in their own space—and parents feel grief, confusion, a loss of purpose and even relief from that major role change. But the keyword there is “contributor.”

“Empty nest syndrome doesn’t cause divorce—it exposes what’s been quietly decaying for 20 years,” saysDr. Deborah Gilman, PhD, a clinical psychologist and the owner of Fox Chapel Psychological Services, who specializes in kids, parenting, relationships and the psychology behind modern culture.

She explains that kids are “the ultimate distraction,” and when they leave the nest, parents have more time and space to realize their unresolved conflicts, emotional distance and mismatched identities. “Turns out, some couples were co-parents, not partners,” she adds.

Dr. Lally has found the same to be true.

“When the everyday noise fades, and the shared task of actively parenting has gone, we are faced with what we haven’t noticed or overlooked: the lack of connection and intimacy,” she says.

You may find you have little in common with your partner or have changed in ways they haven’t, perhaps even significantly.

“When the kids are no longer present, both partners may feel like they are living with a stranger,” saysDr. Francine Toder, PhD, a clinical psychologist, emeritus academic and professional writer who just published her fifth book, Your Kids are Grown: Parenting 2.0. “Young love doesn’t always age well.”

Why Are More Couples Getting Divorced Over 50?

Married people of any age can get divorced, of course, but recently, it’s arguably been happening more in couples in this age range (and often the “Baby Boomer” generation). According to a 2022 study, 8.7 percent of all divorces in 1990 were couples over 50. In 2019, that number grew to 36 percent. What gives?

Dr. Lally says it’s “because they recognize greater life expectancies, a focus on personal fulfillment or impact of health issues and retirement.”

The generational piece adds context, too. She says this bunch had a higher rate of divorce in their younger years, which can play a role now.

“Many in this category are in their second or third marriages, which [have] a historically higher rate of ending in divorce,” she explains. “Baby boomers who are in second and third marriages are major drivers of the overall increase in ‘gray divorces.’”

On the note of age, people can also grow more particular or picky as they get older, which isn’t inherently a bad thing. Perhaps you’ve noticed that. It can look like changing values, increased interest in independence or having higher expectations.

“A longer lifespan gives opportunity to consider what’s important,” Dr. Toder says. “Facing many years ahead, people aren’t as willing to tolerate a relationship that doesn’t meet their needs.”

Dr. Gilman agrees, pointing to societal changes such as less stigma and women having more financial independence nowadays.

“Fewer people are willing to spend the next 30 years being quietly miserable for tradition’s sake,” she shares. “Also, midlife has a funny way of triggering existential clarity: You hit that ‘Is this really it?’ moment, and suddenly, putting up with your spouse’s emotional unavailability feels less charming and more like a life sentence.”

What Are the Cons of a Gray Divorce?

You might have caught the “gray divorce” term used a moment ago. Not sure what that means? We’ve got you: “A gray divorce is when couples split later in life, typically after age 50,” Dr. Gilman says (aka, exactly what we’ve been talking about, and aka, divorcing when your hair *may* begin to gray.)

While getting a divorce after decades of marriage can certainly be called for, you might wonder about the cons of doing so, too.

“On average, women tend to take a bigger financial hit, and men tend to struggle more emotionally after divorce,” the psychologist adds. “But—and this is a big, flashing, can-not-ignore ‘but’—that’s a trend, not a destiny.”

Other cons psychologists mention include the following:

  • Reduction in retirement savings
  • Higher cost of living
  • Loss of health insurance
  • Asset division or mingled assets that are hard to separate
  • Feelings of loneliness and grief
  • Stress of having to “start over”
  • Loss of social networks
  • Disruption to family life and relationships with adult children and grandchildren
  • Future caregiving concerns
  • Dissolving what could potentially be salvaged with some help
  • Needing to “un-retire” because of financial strain
  • Extra stress around holidays and family structure
  • Loss of living with someone who can care for you emotionally and physically

“Gray divorce can be liberating,” Dr. Gilman clarifies. “People do find happiness, identity, even love again…But the research is clear: You’re trading emotional dissatisfaction for financial, social and physical uncertainty.”

Is It Worth Getting Divorced at 50+?

Unsure if a divorce over 50 is worth it with all of those potential cons? It depends on who you ask.

For Dr. Toder, it’s subjective. “Since the average lifespan is about 80 years, there are still many years ahead to find happiness,” she states. “Still, will the disruptions be outweighed by the benefits?”

Her main suggestion is to talk to a neutral counselor, mediator, lawyer or clergy person to determine whether the marriage can be salvaged.

Dr. Gilman also answers with “it depends.”

“It is not worth it if staying means slowly eroding your mental health, identity or dignity,” she says. “50 is not the end—it’s half-time. But if the issues are fixable and you’re just chasing a fantasy of a more exciting life?... You might just trade a familiar dissatisfaction for a brand-new one with worse Wi-Fi.”

As she’s suggesting, the answer to this question depends on what comes with marriage and divorce in your specific situation. That’s what Dr. Lally points out, too.

“For individuals who have been in a marriage that involved an unhealthy or toxic environment (wrought with emotional, verbal or physical abuse, conflict or constant criticism), have an opportunity to end profound loneliness and/or have an opportunity for authenticity, happiness and personal growth, a divorce of 50+ may be necessary,” she says. “Although ending a marriage may be challenging, it can also provide an awakening for an individual to rediscover themselves.”

Still feeling stuck and overwhelmed? According to Dr. Gilman, it boils down to this one question: Am I leaving something truly broken, or running from something uncomfortable?

How Couples Over 50 Can Save Their Marriages

If you’ve decided you want to try to save your marriage, but aren’t sure how, don’t fret. Psychologists share key steps.

Assess the relationship

Ultimately, take a closer look at the relationship. What do you each need? What does the relationship need? Dr. Lally recommends collaboratively answering some key questions, such as why you want to save the marriage, the improvements needed and the level of commitment each of you can make.

Dr. Toder agrees. She encourages assessing the relationship by looking at what’s great, what could get better and what steps might be needed.

“Then tailor a plan… including new ways to add quality time together, identify and tend to those issues that you’ve been ignoring, open up about doubts and try to listen without criticism/judgment,” she adds.

Start dating each other again

During your “assessment phase,” you two might realize you need to spice things up and make them interesting by reintroducing curiosity and active dating practices. According to Dr. Gilman, that makes sense—and it may be easier than you think.

“You are not the same person you were at 30,” she says. “Neither are they. Start there.”

This might look like asking open-ended, present-day questions, like what’s been exciting your partner lately. It could also entail novel activities, such as travel, classes or a new restaurant. “The brain links newness with attraction,” she explains.

More simply, have fun. Enjoy not having to worry about the logistics of carting your kids everywhere. Schedule connection time, make inside jokes, incorporate more physical touch and check in with each other.

Address the backlog

It’s time to face those “we’ll deal with it later” issues, especially if they’ve gotten worse. Have structured conversations, Dr. Gilman suggests, in which one person talks and the other reflects without interrupting. Then, decide to resolve or re-negotiate.

“Don’t just rehash,” she clarifies. “If you keep having the same fight, it’s not a fight—it’s a system failure.”

Get professional help

Seeing a marriage counselor can also help, especially with more complex, deeply rooted or underlying concerns (and even proactively).

“Therapy isn’t failure; it’s maintenance,” Dr. Gilman says. “Start therapy when you feel stuck, not when you feel done.”

Further, she recommends a therapist who practices the Gottman method or emotionally-focused therapy. Treat the work as skill-building, not a “blame game.”

Create a shared future

Get excited; get out of your comfort zone. What is your life going to look like together without kids? What helps you want to stay with your partner?

Dr. Gilman shares some ideas to get you started:

  • Ask what you want the next 10 to 20 years to feel like
  • Build joint projects (such as travel plans, volunteering, creative pursuits or even a business)
  • Revise your values and what matters most to you (perhaps freedom, stability, adventure or less noise?)

“Couples who thrive don’t just avoid divorce—they build something that competes with the idea of leaving,” she concludes.

In short, it’s all about care, action and intentionality.

“Never put your relationship on the back burner, prioritizing other things first and taking it for granted that your marriage partner will always be there to eventually get around to paying attention to,” Dr. Lally says. “Always prioritize working to prevent a distance from developing, and growing between you and your partner, so that when responsibilities change in the future, you still have a strong foundation to build new chapters on.”

Fans Are Divided About Elsie Hewitt’s Reaction to Pete Davidson Split

Mon, 05/18/2026 - 7:05pm

Was it really a surprise to anyone? While Pete Davidson and Elsie Hewitt may have seemed like the perfect couple by Hollywood standards, all good things must come to an end. For these two, that happened much sooner than they expected.

Of course, the breakup was far from private. Fans (and critics) took to social media, sharing their, um, views. As it turns out, just about everyone has something to say. And, to put it nicely, the public has… thoughts.

Pete Davidson and Elsie Hewitt’s Relationship Timeline

In March of 2025, the tabloids broke the news that Davidson was dating someone new. The SNL actor has a long list of famous exes, includingAriana Grande, Kate Beckinsale, Margaret Qualley,Kaia Gerber,Phoebe Dynevor, Kim Kardashian, Emily Ratajkowski, Chase Sui Wonders, and Madelyn Cline. Whew, and wow!

By April of 2025, just about every celeb site had published pics of Davidson and Hewitt. The couple was spotted hand in hand at a Knicks game later that month. Sources told several media outlets (in May) that the pair was living together. Elsie posted photos of Pete in an Instagram dump a few months later. And then, the really big news broke—the pair was expecting.

Baby girl Scottie Rose Hewitt Davidson arrived on December 12, 2025, and the party of three seemed as happy as could be. But sadly, in May of 2026, rumors surfaced the couple was calling it quits. Things went downhill from there with a series of less-than-flattering statements from sources close to the couple. A recent People article claimed that Elsie is feeling the “full mental load of motherhood.” The same source also revealed, “She never expected to be a single mom.”

The Public Backlash After Pete Davidson and Elsie Hewitt’s Split

So what does the public have to say about these new relationship revelations? Redditors responded to the People article with comments panning both of the new parents, such as, “And yet she had a baby with Pete Davidson,” “Somehow, she was the only one that didn't see where this was headed,” “You get with a man who’s notorious for his whirlwind high-profile relationships, get pregnant almost immediately, and then are shocked when it doesn’t work out?”

The comments didn’t end there. Other critics pointed out (in reference to the insider saying, “She never expected to be a single mom”), “That’s a wild statement to make after having a baby with a guy whose dating history has its own Wikipedia page,” and, “I mean if you get pregnant by Pete Davidson, you gotta know being a single mother is at least a possibility. His track record isn't exactly great.”

What’s next for the pair? Well, it doesn't seem like reconciliation is in the picture. And we’re pretty sure their fans/critics will have much more to say about it!

’70s Rock Legend’s Ice Cream Outing in Boston Has Fans Obsessed

Mon, 05/18/2026 - 7:01pm

Legendary Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler doesn't live in Boston anymore, but when he's in town, he's just one of the locals. Recently, the 78-year-old rock singer proved just that when he was spotted enjoying some ice cream. There was no entourage, no fuss... just Tyler and his dessert.

Bella’s Creamery, the ice cream shop he visited, shared a photo of the "Cryin'" singer on their Facebook page. The rock singer wore his hair piled up in a messy bun made up of grey, brown, red, and green streaks. He wore big sunglasses and a scruffy mustache and goatee, donning an open checkered sweater with a white T-shirt underneath. He adorned himself with several chains around his neck.

Tyler was all smiles in a selfie with one of the shop employees, while holding his Dave's Coffee ice cream in a waffle cone with a gloved hand. Perhaps the smile was his seal of approval as he'd already given it a lick.

View this post on Instagram

Aerosmith fans couldn't stop gushing about the Tyler sighting, which is apparently a pretty normal thing in the area, with many praising how laidback he is with the locals.

"Growing up in Humarock we had regular sightings of Steven Tyler. One time he was skateboarding with some kids," one fan wrote on Facebook.

"So cool!!! Love Steven Tyler," another wrote before adding a red heart emoji.

A third shared, "How cool! I am never in the right place at the right time. I love Steven."

"Excellent. What an endorsement," another gushed.

While Tyler maintains several homes, with his primary residence in Los Angeles, he still spends a lot of time in Boston, the birthplace of Aerosmith. He's clearly very comfortable there, too, as many locals commented on the ice cream photo with stories of seeing him around town as he visited other local businesses, including other ice cream parlors, as he's known to have a sweet tooth and loves the frozen treat.

Tyler loves ice cream so much that he's previously partnered with the fancy Los Angeles grocery store Erewhon to create two soft serve flavors, "Sweet Emotion" and "Dream On," named after his hits, with part of the profits going to his philanthropic initiative, Janie's Fund.

This 1974 film has resonated with audiences for over 50 years, and now it is receiving a modern spin-off.

FX issued a series order for Very Young Frankensteinon May 18, according to Variety. The upcoming show is based on the timeless Mel Brooks-Gene Wilder comedy Young Frankenstein. The exact storyline is still under wraps.

The original film is remembered greatly by critics and fans. It was ranked fifth by Rolling Stone as the "funniest movie of all time.” The movie received two Academy Award nominations and two Golden Globe nominations.

Young Frankenstein follows the grandson of Dr.Frankenstein (Gene Wilder) after he inherits his grandfather's Transylvania estate. Although ashamed of his family’s past, he begins to replicate his grandfather’s experiments, creating his own monster (PeterBoyle).

The 1974 film was directed by Brooks and written by Brooks and Wilder. Brooks decided to spoof horror films after the success of his Western parody Blazing Saddles.

Now, Brooks will be an executive producer for the modern-day rendition of Young Frankenstein, along with his producing partner, KevinSalter.

The show has been in development for almost a year, with the Very Young Frankenstein pilot ordered in 2025. It is reported to star Zach Galifianakis, Dolly Wells, and Spencer House. The pilot featured Nikki Crawford, KumailNanjiani, and CaryElwes.

Very Young Frankenstein blends inspiration from the fan-favorite movie with the inventive, irreverent spirit that has defined FX comedies over the years, making this a completely original take on the classic story,” said NickGrad, the President of FX Entertainment.

The series comes from writer StefaniRobinson, who will additionally executive-produce alongside TaikaWaititi and Garrett Basch. All three worked on the vampire FX comedy series What We Do in the Shadows.

“In the hands of FX veterans Stefani, Taika and Garrett, alongside the iconic Mel Brooks, we know that fans will have as much fun watching this series as we’re having making it,” said Grad.

Nancy Guthrie Case: Retired FBI Agent Makes Blunt Declaration About First Hours After Savannah's Mom Went Missing

Mon, 05/18/2026 - 6:53pm

A retired FBI agent offered insight into the first hours after Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie's mom, Nancy Guthrie, 84, was abducted in Tucson, Ariz. And he made a blunt declaration while doing so.

In the Monday, May 18 episode of Brian Entin Investigates, NewsNation Senior National Correspondent Brian Entinspoke with Steve Moore, a retired FBI special agent.

"I talked to a sergeant from the Pima County Sheriff's Department in the last week, his name is Aaron Cross, and he was describing sort of how chaotic it was the first week after Nancy went missing," Entin explained. "And that there was a communication breakdown within the department that also bled into communication with the FBI."

Additionally, Entin brought up the reported initial chaos at Nancy's house, with her family there, in the early hours of the investigation. He then asked Moore how a situation like that is typically handled.

"You're not allowed to have confusion at a crime scene like that," Moore explained. "Obviously, there's going to be all sorts of things going on, and people will be confused. But law enforcement coming in, you are the ones who've done this all the time. You shouldn't be acting like this is your first time at a crime scene, or the first time somebody's been missing. And It certainly wasn't with these people."

He then bluntly stated, "Being confused is not a sign of, 'This is really big crime, so we're confused.' That's a sign of inadequate preparation."

Related: Nancy Guthrie Update: New Video Shows Masked Man in Savannah’s Mom’s Neighborhood

When asked how law enforcement deals with family members, in particular, when someone is missing, and emotions might be running high, Moore offered further insight.

"First of all, you need to get them in an emotional position where they can provide lucid information," he told Entin. "You get them away from the people who are running the case immediately. Get somebody that is really good with people to sit them down, get them some water, give them confidence — we've got this, this is what we do, we're here to help you —now, please, quietly and as carefully as you can, and write things down if you need to, but I'm here to listen to every word you say."

While that is happening, Moore explained that the person in charge of the investigation is typically on the other side of the room or in an area away from the family.

"They're able to think about this, saying, 'What do we have?' And they'll get information from investigators. 'We've got blood on the porch. OK, we've got a crime scene.' Then have somebody set up a perimeter, somebody get evidence response out here on the way now. We need to start interviewing people around the neighborhood. You're in charge of that. You go to that."

He added, "It sounds to me like nobody took charge. If there's confusion, that means nobody's in charge who knows what they're doing. Because if you have that person, they know to compartmentalize everything."

Nancy was last seen at her Tucson home on the evening of Jan. 31. As of writing, no suspect has been named in her case, despite more than $1 million in reward money on the table.

1984 One-Hit Wonder From a Soap Opera Star Became One of the Greatest Love Songs of All Time

Mon, 05/18/2026 - 6:29pm

If you’re going to tease legions of daytime TV fans as part of a band called Blackie and the Riff Raff, you better be able to back it up. Fortunately for Jack Wagner, he could. And did.

The General Hospital soap star still has fans bowled from his 1984 megahit, “All I Need.” In fact, Grunge magazine just named the actor-turned-singer-turned-actor's soft-rock ballad one of the best one-hit wonder love songs from the '80s, writing, “Wagner embraced an adult contemporary sound, singing treacly and declarative love songs, essentially musical equivalents of sappy soap opera plots. And he was successful at it too.”

Released in October 1984 while Wagner was still actively starring as Frisco Jones on GH, the song spent 22 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking in January1985 at No. 2, where it stayed for two consecutive weeks. The track was Wagner’s only Top 40 entry, but it was a good one.

Produced by Quincy Jones protegé Glen Ballard and Clif Magness, who also co-wrote the track alongside David Pack, the tune captured the refined, emotive sound signature of adult contemporary and soft rock ballads of the time. Its success helped propel Wagner's same-name debut album to No. 44 on the Billboard 200.

“The soft-rock radio standard struck a nerve with a large number of listeners because it expresses that common feeling so well,” Grunge wrote. “All Wagner needs is some time to think and reflect, and this song likely became a contemplation tool for many others going through a similar situation.”

Others to successfully make the crossover from screen to music include Wagner’s GH buddy Rick Springfield, Dirty Dancing’s Patrick Swayze, and Full House’s John Stamos, with all the above achieving chart success. Some even winning a Grammy, ahem, Rick.

Although Wagner made some big waves with All I Need, his follow-up songs and albums did not. So, he continued his acting career, later appearing in the prime time soap Melrose Place and currently on the Hallmark Channel series When Calls the Heart. Not that it matters, though. “All I Need” is all we need.

IKEA Is Selling a New Playful Pink Cabinet That Will Bring Retro Vibes to Your Space

One of the many things I love about IKEA is that it never gets tired of outdoing itself. Like every time the retailer busts out with some great new piece of furniture, they manage to keep evolving it, almost like a Pokémon. The next thing you know, your home has seven different iterations of the BILLY bookcase, with each serving its own purpose and boasting one more helpful feature than the last. IKEA has a gift.

It just dropped the IKEA PS 2026 collection, and the new pieces are so fun. You'll find chairs, tables, lamps and cabinets in the mix, and all feel very special in their own way. But there's this one cabinet I cannot stop thinking about, both because of its design and because I'm always looking for stylish ways to store stuff.

The IKEA PS 2026 Glass-Door Cabinet is one of those pieces that is both practical and ridiculously cute all at once. The light pink color gives it this soft, playful vibe, but the locker-inspired design and grid-patterned glass keep it from feeling overly sweet. It's kind of like if industrial style got a chic pastel makeover.

It's roomy enough to show off books, décor or whatever pretty little things you want on display, but it can also be locked with a standard padlock if you need a little extra security.

The glass shelves help light flow through beautifully, and there's even a spot for integrated lighting if you really want to make it a statement piece. Just note that each glass shelf can handle up to 22 pounds, so don't overload it with heavy stuff.

Unfortunately, you also can't order this glass cabinet online for shipping. It's only available in-store. So hopefully you have an IKEA in your neck of the woods with it in stock.

And if you're eyeballing this beauty to figure out if it will fit in your car, here are some other important notes. The pieces come in two separate packages, with the heaviest weighing 56 pounds and 11 ounces. The longest side of the box is 65 ½ inches, while the widest is 15 inches. Fingers crossed you can scoop this up without needing to bug your friend with a truck to help out.

1974 One-Hit Wonder Inspired by a 'Lazy' Morning Became an 'Inescapable' Pop Culture Anthem Decades Later

Mon, 05/18/2026 - 6:04pm

If you had to pick one commercial jingle that's always stuck in your head, which one would it be? Probably the most ubiquitous ad of the last ten years: "Oh-oh-oh-Ozempic!"

Of course, as music lovers of a certain age will remember, long before Ozempic even existed, the song that everybody associates with the popular weight loss drug was a huge success: "Magic" by the Scottish band Pilot. Written by frontman David Paton, the song shot to #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1974, becoming the group's breakthrough (and biggest) hit.

As Paton explained in a 2012 interview with Radio Borders, the lyrics were inspired by a comment made by his wife one very early morning.

"I used to have a little tape recorder on top of my piano and when any idea came into my head I would just slap it down on the tape recorder," Paton recalled.

"I had that chorus and it's only a four bar chorus...it was just an idea lying on the tape recorder and one morning I had to get up really early and my wife said to me 'I've never been awake to see a daybreak' and I thought there's a line for a song that will go with that little chorus that I've got on my tape machine," he continued.

That early morning inspiration resulted in the following verse:

"Never been awake
Never seen a daybreak
Leaning on my pillow in the morning
Lazy day in bed
Music in my head
Crazy music playing in the morning light"

Of course, when Paton re-recorded the song for the Ozempic ad campaign in 2023, it wasn't about an early morning anymore, but it still ended up being pretty magical.

"It was a great thrill to be back at Abbey Road, singing my song,” he told The New York Times for a piece titled: "How Ozempic Turned a 1970s Hit Into an Inescapable Jingle."

“It’s just about the enjoyment of life,” he added. “About waking up in the morning, you know? I was 22 when I wrote it.”

The Ozempic song was almost a New Kids on the Block hit

Paton never could have predicted his song would become a hit all over again 50 years later, thanks in large part to Jeremy Shepler, who headed the Ozempic launch for pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk.

“The first song I came up with was by New Kids on the Block, the one that goes ‘Oh oh oh oh oh’,” Shepler told the NYT. “But New Kids was a bit too young. The average age of our patient was between 50 and 55. Then it came to me: ‘Oh, oh, oh, it’s magic.’”

When the first commercial came out, Paton didn't even know his song had been licensed for the ad.

“I learned about it through Facebook,” he said. “Fans would write me, ‘I’m hearing “Magic” every 20 minutes on my TV’.”

It wasn't the first time "Magic" was used for a commercial, as Paton explained.

“I actually sang ‘Coke, Coke, Coke, it’s Magic’ back in the ’70s," he said, adding, "People always want to use the song in some way or the other."

Having his song associated with such a popular product doesn't bother Paton a bit, though; in fact, he said he's "delighted" by the renewed attention.

"I’m a songwriter. I want to sell my music. A lot of people don’t know the name Pilot, but they know the Ozempic song," Paton pointed out.

Not only do people know the Ozempic song, but they clearly love it, too.

“In contemporary advertising, campaigns tend to have pretty short shelf lives,” said Jeff Rothstein, chief executive of CultHealth, the ad agency for Ozempic. “Two, three years, tops. Yet ‘Oh, oh, oh, Ozempic’ continues to endure. You can do all the market research in the world, and never end up with something like this.”

I Made a Copycat Version of This 'Iconic' Costco Food Court Favorite, and It's Better Than the Original

Mon, 05/18/2026 - 5:54pm

I’ve always been the type of person who immediately wants to recreate something after trying it somewhere else. Sometimes, it’s because I genuinely think I can make a better version at home and other times, it’s because the food was so good that I need to figure out how to experience it whenever I want.

Cooking is fun for me in that way because it gives me the chance to experiment, adjust flavors and put my own personality into a dish. More times than not, I end up creating a version that honestly surprises me and tastes even better than the original. And that's exactly what I found with this copycat Costco chicken bake recipe.

I was so excited to finally try one of Costco’s most talked about food court items for myself. The Costco food court has built this almost legendary reputation online, especially around certain menu items people constantly hype up across social media and food reviews. Since I’m constantly searching for new recipe ideas, food hacks and creative ways to remake popular dishes at home, I knew this was something I eventually had to test myself. I wanted to see if the buzz was actually deserved and more importantly, if I could recreate a version that fit my own taste better.

What Is Costco's Chicken Bake?

Choya Johnson

The Costco Chicken Bake is one of the most talked-about items on the food court menu at the wholesale giant. I can describe it as a giant savory hot pocket, packed with cheesy, salty, comforting flavors in every bite.

Inside the baked pizza dough is a rich combination of chicken breast, crispy bacon, Caesar dressing and a blend of mozzarella, provolone and Parmesan cheese all melted together into one handheld bite. It's simple, heavy and, honestly, the kind of food that feels like classic food court comfort.

What Makes the Costco Chicken Bake So Popular?

One of the biggest reasons this food court item has become so popular really comes down to the filling itself. The combination of chicken, bacon, melted cheese and creamy Caesar dressing creates a rich, savory mixture that feels over-the-top in the best way.

Then, you have the outside layer, which is wrapped in pizza dough, topped with even more cheese and baked until the crust turns crispy, golden brown and slightly chewy at the same time. It's the kind of food that instantly feels indulgent after the first bite.

Over the years, the Costco Chicken Bake has built a reputation as a legendary cult favorite on the food court menu, constantly praised for being savory, heavy, cheesy and surprisingly filling for the price.

Is Costco's Chicken Bake Healthy?

The Costco Chicken Bake is definitely one of those food court items that falls more into the indulgent comfort food category than anything considered healthy. While it does pack in a pretty impressive amount of protein, it also comes loaded with high calories, sodium and fat.

Depending on preparation and serving size, the Chicken Bake usually ranges from 770 to 800 calories and provides around 55 to 61 grams of protein. On the flip side, the sodium levels are extremely high, ranging from 2,300 to 2,400 milligrams, while the fat content sits at 25 to 29 grams.

So while it can definitely keep you full for hours, it's also the type of menu item you know you're treating yourself with after just a few bites.

Ingredients Needed for the Copycat Version

Choya Johnson

One thing I really like about recreating the Costco Chicken Bake at home is that you honestly don't need a long, complicated ingredient list to pull it off. Most of the flavor comes from a handful of simple ingredients working together the right way.

For this recipe, all you really need is pizza dough, cooked chicken breast, a blend of cheeses, Caesar dressing, bacon and Parmesan cheese to bring everything together into that cheesy, savory food court style bite people love.

How To Make a Copycat Costco Chicken Bake

Choya Johnson

Preheat your oven to 450°F and lightly grease a 16-inch perforated pizza pan. Cut your pizza dough into four equal pieces, then roll each piece out into a thin 11-by-eight-inch rectangle. Spread about 1 tablespoon of Caesar dressing inside each piece of dough, leaving a one-inch border around the edges so everything stays sealed while baking.

For the filling, combine nine ounces of cooked chicken breast, 1 ½ cups of mixed mozzarella and provolone, ½ cup toasted bacon bits, and ¼ cup Caesar dressing. Once combined, place about one cup of the filling mixture across the center of each rolled-out dough piece.

Next, fold in the sides and roll each one up jelly-roll style, pinching the seams tightly so the filling stays inside while baking. Place the Chicken Bakes onto the prepared pizza pan, then brush the tops with another tablespoon of Caesar dressing and finish with about ½ tablespoon of shredded Parmesan cheese on each one.

Bake them on the bottom rack of the oven at 450°F for about 20 minutes until the outside turns golden brown, crispy and cheesy just like the food court version.

Copycat Costco Chicken Bake Recipe Review: My Honest Thoughts

Choya Johnson

Going into this copycat recipe, I honestly wasn't expecting much. I recently ranked Costco's entire food court menu from worst to best, and the Chicken Bake ended up dead last. Between the dry texture, lack of flavor and overall experience I had with the original in-store version, I was definitely skeptical about recreating it at home. But surprisingly, this recipe completely changed my opinion on what a Chicken Bake could actually be.

What I liked most was how simple everything felt. The recipe used only six ingredients, and the entire cooking process was straightforward, neither complicated nor time-consuming. That automatically makes this a solid weeknight recipe because you're not spending all night in the kitchen trying to figure things out. It came together fast and honestly looked way better than the version I originally tried from Costco.

The biggest difference for me was the texture. The dough was noticeably softer, fresher and had a much better bite overall. It held flavor better and didn't have the overly dense, dry consistency the original did. The ingredients themselves also tasted fresher, which helped the entire Chicken Bake feel less heavy and more enjoyable to eat. Since the cooking time wasn't very long either, the whole process felt easy from start to finish.

Now, flavor-wise, I did think it was a little bland straight off the recipe. So I made a few adjustments with extra seasoning to give it a little more personality and overall flavor. Once I did that, the experience completely improved, and it felt more balanced.

At the end of the day, this homemade version honestly surprised me. Not only would I make it again, but I genuinely preferred it over the original Costco Chicken Bake. It had a better texture, fresher flavor and overall felt like a much more enjoyable version of something I originally didn't even care for.

’90s Heavy Metal Band Announces Tour Cancellation Amid Medical Issues

Mon, 05/18/2026 - 5:51pm

Industrial metal band Static-X has canceled all of its remaining 2026 tour dates after revealing that one or more members are dealing with “serious medical issues.”

The band shared the announcement on social media Monday, telling fans that the situation was “unavoidable” and needed “immediate attention.” No specific member or medical condition was identified in the statement.

“Due to serious medical issues, STATIC-X will be forced to cancel our remaining tour dates in 2026,” the band wrote. “The situation is unavoidable and requires immediate attention.”

“We are very sorry for the inconvenience, and we promise to return to the stage, bigger, stronger and faster in 2027.”

Musician Xer0 of Static-X performs on stage at North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre.

The canceled dates included a summer run with Dope across several U.S. cities and festival appearances in states including Illinois, Wisconsin, South Dakota, North Dakota and Montana.

The affected shows were scheduled for:

  • July 16 — McHenry, Illinois
  • July 17 — Cadott, Wisconsin
  • Aug. 4 — Sioux Falls, South Dakota
  • Aug. 5 — Fargo, North Dakota
  • Aug. 7 — Sturgis, South Dakota
  • Aug. 9 — Billings, Montana

The group recently performed at Welcome to Rockville in Daytona Beach on May 8 and at Sonic Temple Art & Music Festival over the weekend. Those appearances marked the band’s only live performances of 2026 before the cancellation announcement.

View this post on Instagram

Before the tour cancellation, bassist Tony Campos said the band had been discussing new material with the current lineup after completing work on an upcoming documentary.

Speaking at last year’s Bloodstock Open Air festival, Campos said, “We've been talking about writing some new material, some new songs. We have a documentary that's in the works right now. So we're gonna finish that first. And then, once we drop that, then we'll revisit going in and writing some new material.”

He added: “I don't wanna juggle too many plates. Let's just finish [the documentary]. Then we can focus all of our attention on new material.”

The documentary, titled Evil Disco: The Rise, Fall, And Regeneration Of Static-X, was first teased in March 2024 during the 25th anniversary celebration of the band’s breakout album Wisconsin Death Trip.

In a statement released with the trailer, the band said: “25 years ago today, STATIC-X unleashed 'Wisconsin Death Trip' onto the world. On this very special anniversary, we would like to share a teaser for the first ever official STATIC-X documentary film.”

“Thank you all for 25 years of amazing memories… So much more to come!”

According to Blabbermouth, Campos told Rock News Weekly that the documentary would look closely at the band’s history and the impact of late frontman Wayne Static.

“I think it's gonna be cool, man. It's gonna be a really cool look back at the history of the band and the history of Wayne and how he affected all our lives,” Campos said.

Static-X was formed in 1994 in Los Angeles and became one of the best-known industrial metal acts of the late 1990s. The band gained mainstream success with “Push It” and its platinum-selling debut album Wisconsin Death Trip.

The group released six studio albums before officially breaking up in 2013. Wayne Static died in 2014 at age 48. According to the coroner’s report, the musician died after mixing Xanax and other prescription drugs with alcohol.

In 2018, Campos, drummer Ken Jay and guitarist Koichi Fukuda reunited the band in honor of Wayne Static. The comeback era introduced masked vocalist Xer0, who is widely believed to be Edsel Dope, though the band has continued to present Xer0 as a separate character tied to Wayne’s legacy.

Since reforming, the band has released Project: Regeneration Vol. 1 and Project: Regeneration Vol. 2, both featuring archived vocal recordings from Wayne Static alongside new material.

Despite the canceled tour dates, Static-X told fans it plans to return in 2027.

1971 Soulful Classic, Named No. 1 Hit Song for Three Weeks, Ranked Among ‘Best Rock Songs’ of All Time

Mon, 05/18/2026 - 5:48pm

All sub-genres of rock music dominated the mainstream in the late 20th century. Out of the thousands of songs produced under the rock umbrella, a select few standouts have truly stood the test of time.

In April, Ultimate Classic Rock ranked the 100 best rock songs of all time, compiling a list of the greatest works across every rock sub-genre. Ranked among hits such as Chuck Berry's 1958 anthem "Johnny B. Goode" at No. 74 and Iron Maiden's 1982 classic "Run to the Hills" at No. 72, Sly & the Family Stone secured the No. 73 spot with their song "Family Affair."

Released on November 6, 1971, as the lead single from their fifth studio album, There's a Riot Goin' On, "Family Affair" was a massive success. Upon its release, the track climbed up the Billboard Hot 100 chart, peaking at No. 1 on December 4 and holding the position for three consecutive weeks. The song also dominated the Billboard R&B Singles chart, holding the No. 1 spot for five consecutive weeks, attesting to its ability to reach diverse audiences.

Aside from its unparalleled chart triumph, the song achieved significant commercial milestones. By January 1972, "Family Affair" was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for selling over 500,000 physical units.

Produced and written entirely by frontman Sly Stone, "Family Affair" was highly distinct for its moody nature—a stark departure from the high-energy, optimistic style that defined the band's sound in the late '60s. Instead of utilizing a live studio drummer, Stone famously programmed an early electronic drum machine to create a pulsing, heartbeat-like rhythm. This element grounded the track and marked one of the first times a No. 1 single featured the innovative technology.

"Family Affair" explored the deeply complicated nature of domestic relationships. Stone's introspective lyricism highlighted the emotional messiness that inevitably comes with being tied to others, whether through familial ties or romantic connection. The song's poignant themes made for a stunning, soulful track that remains relevant today.

On Spotify alone, "Family Affair" has accumulated over 73 million streams, affirming its lasting ability to captivate new generations of listeners in the digital era.

This Dreamy Coastal Mexican Resort Might Be the Country's Best-Kept Secret—and I Can't Wait to Go Back

Mon, 05/18/2026 - 5:37pm

The drive into the Four Seasons Resort Tamarindo is nothing short of otherworldly. Traveling as a family of five, we were mesmerized by the sheer jungle density, the complete remoteness, and the total disconnect from civilization. We kept saying it felt like we were dropped in the middle of Jurassic Park. Then the trees part, and this architectural marvel emerges—and suddenly you understand why people never leave.

Located in Mexico's underrated Costalegre area, just a short flight from our Los Angeles home, the property felt impossibly close yet worlds away. What we discovered over five days was a resort that masterfully balances luxury with environmental responsibility, all while keeping families genuinely engaged.

Coyul, the resort's signature restaurant, collaborates with Elena Reygada, the World's Best Female Chef of 2023, to create dishes that highlight fresh Mexican ingredients with an innovative twist. The plating alone was worth the price of admission, but the flavors matched the presentation. And if you've had the famous Rosetta bakery in Mexico City on your dining must-have list, you're in luck—the same pastries are served on-site during breakfast.

But what really won us over: Rancho Lola, the on-site farm. My kids got to wander around petting goats and cooing over the chickens that provided the eggs in the restaurants. Learning where much of our food came from transformed the whole dining experience from "fancy resort meal" to something truly memorable.

The Rooms Were Almost as Memorable as Everything Else

Our cliffside suite was the definition of a once-in-a-lifetime room. The infinity pool sat right at the edge of our terrace, offering unobstructed ocean views that made every morning coffee feel like a luxury vacation commercial. And the kids couldn't get over the outdoor shower. With enough space to sprawl out, we'd honestly have been just as happy staying in the room as roaming the property itself.

What impressed me most was how the resort practices sustainability without making it feel performative. The property sits within a 3,000-acre private nature reserve that has been carefully protected for over three decades. The farm isn't just for show—it genuinely supplies the restaurants with seasonal, indigenous ingredients. It felt less like greenwashing and more like an authentic commitment to preserving this untouched corner of Mexico.

Family-Friendly in the Best Way

With five of us, including three kids ranging in age from 6 to 13, we weren't sure what to expect. The beaches on the property are quiet and pristine—we found ourselves spending hours kayaking, snorkeling, petting the farm's dogs and exploring. No fighting for lounge chairs. No resort chaos. Just our family, the ocean, and nature.

Beyond the beach, the resort offers plenty for those looking for more structured activities: the 18-hole El Tamarindo Golf Course winds through the jungle with sweeping ocean views, seasonal whale-watching tours, and guided ethnobotanical hikes (ours was filled with creature and floral spottings we didn't expect). After our salsa and guacamole-making class, our tortilla-making lessons, the outdoor movies under the stars, and endless beach time, we were perfectly content soaking it all in.

To find a place that feels like you've truly escaped and isn't overcrowded with tourists feels like finding a diamond in the rough. In fact, we were so enamored with our time there that we spoke about going back on the flight home. This is the bucket-list destination I didn't know I needed—until now.
