'Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage' Sneak Peek: Georgie Confronts His Mom During Her Date (Exclusive)
In the final few episodes of Young Sheldon, we reached the event Big Bang Theory fans had been waiting for for almost seven years: The death of family patriarch George Cooper. The further we get away from the finale, the more viewers have began to wonder what happened to his widow, Mary, and if she was ever able to find love again.
In an exclusive sneak peek of this week’s episode of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, we can confirm that is the case — or at least an attempt is made.

The clip opens on Georgie (Montana Jordan) out to dinner with Mandy (Emily Osment) and her boss (TKTK). Initially, it seems he’s joined his wife for one purpose: Show how great she for the sake of job security. But his role promptly changes when he sees his mother Mary (Zoe Perry) is at the same restaurant, on a date with Fred (Matt Letscher).
For the uninitiated, Fred is introduced to us as one of the biggest antagonists of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, the biggest rival to Jim (Will Sasso) and a high school sweetheart of Audrey (Rachel Bay Jones). The Season 2 finale, however, saw a change of heart for the usually cutthroat businessman. It turns out he began to attend Mary’s Bible study group and, in the process, caught feelings for her. When Mary asks him out on a date, Georgie is absolutely furious, not only due to the complications from his mom dating his biggest rival, but because of the loss of George. Mary then promptly kicks her son and sister-in-law out of her house, ending Season 2 on a tense note.
And, as we see from the clip, that tension has far from boiled over.
“Ain’t this a pretty picture?” Georgie muses, sauntering over to the couple’s table.
“What are you doing?” Mary replies. “Did you follow us?” Georgie clarifies that he’s coincidentally out to dinner with Mandy and her boss. And speaking of the latter, she seems to be way too invested in the Cooper family drama to care about any talking shop that Mandy wants to do.
“You’re ruining Mandy’s work dinner,” Georgie says.
“We are just minding our business,” retorts Mary. “You are the one who is making a scene!”
“If you don’t like it, go somewhere else.”
“We are having a lovely time”
“I don’t want to hear the nasty details of your day!” Georgie exclaims.

After the laugh line, Mary puts down her foot. “George Marshall Cooper, go back to your table right now, or there will be heck to pay.”
Georgie does indeed listen to his mother, but not before a stinging exit line: “Dad would be rolling in his grave if he saw you with him.”
When the tension dissolves, Fred does politely bring up that they don’t need to stay. But, showcasing the firmness we saw through seven seasons of Young Sheldon, Mary is adamant about holding their ground. The couple are ready to order a glass of wine and hunker down for what is sure to develop into an awkward evening.

Joe Manganiello, 49, Posts Hospital Photo From When He Lost 60 Pounds in 2 Weeks
For seven years, Joe Manganiello kept his illness to himself.
Now he’s showing it.
On Thursday, Oct. 15, the True Blood star, 49, posted three photos to Instagram under the words “TRIGGER WARNING” and a label that reads “BLOODLINES • Chapter 1 • In pictures.” Each photo goes with the first chapter of his memoir, Bloodlines, which came out Tuesday.
The first one was taken in the hospital, days after surgery.
“In the days following the amputation of my large intestine, my weight began to plummet,” he wrote. “I would ultimately lose a total of 60 lbs during the two weeks following the surgery. If you zoom in, you can see the top of my first ostomy bag creeping up over the sheets.”
What the Other 2 Photos ShowThe second photo shows his abdomen after a later surgery. He called it “a shot of my abdomen after the reconnection/take down surgery or anastomosis, in which my ostomy bag was removed and what was left of my digestive tract was reconnected.”
That’s the surgery that undoes an ostomy. Cleveland Clinic describes it as an operation “to reconnect your bowels and close your stoma,” usually done once the bowel has recovered.
The third photo is a close-up of his skin. “An example of the multitude of skin conditions I was plagued with during the seven years I was sick,” he wrote. “My skin, an immune organ, was stricken with just about every condition known to man, usually in combination.”
By 1:30 p.m. ET Thursday, the post had more than 31,000 likes and nearly 1,500 comments. Instagram has it behind an age restriction, so you have to be signed in to see it.
He Never Got a Clear DiagnosisThe book’s publisher listing says the illness attacked his skin, his thyroid, his eyes, his lungs and his digestive system. It calls the whole thing “a seven-year battle, plagued by chronic pain, a life-saving organ amputation, existential crisis, and a prolonged fight for survival.”
Doctors never gave him a conclusive diagnosis.
It started not long after he married Sofía Vergara in 2015. In 2016, about two weeks into a hospital stay, he went through what he calls “The Night in Hell” in the book. He went into emergency surgery the next morning.
“I realized that I would most likely not live to see the sunrise again,” he wrote.
He was prescribed drugs used for Crohn’s disease and colitis along the way. “None of them worked on me,” he said.

Where He Is NowManganiello says he’s off medication and symptom-free. He’s also engaged to actress Caitlin O’Connor, 37, whom he met after he filed for divorce from Vergara in 2023.
“I can’t believe I’m alive,” he said. “I feel like I was reborn.”
The book also covers how his illness affected the marriage. After Vergara reposted an Instagram Story comparing a “good man” to a “narcissistic man,” he said on Oct. 12 that “anybody who said that should read the book first,” because “it’s about the suffering I went through.”
He hasn’t ruled out becoming a dad, either. “If that’s meant for me,” he said. “For seven years I thought I was going to be dead the next week. The world has opened back up to me.”

FBI Offers $150,000 Reward for Arrest of True-Crime TV Executive Mary Carole McDonnell, Who's Vanished From L.A.
In a plot twist so wild it belongs on TV, the FBI has intensified its search for 74-year-old entertainment executive Mary Carole McDonnell, announcing a $150,000 reward for information that leads to her arrest and conviction.
John Kent, Assistant Special Agent in Charge at the FBI’s Los Angeles division, told Deadline on Wednesday, October 14, “This woman was a Hollywood executive specializing in true crime content and allegedly crossed over into actual true crime. She conned her victims into believing she was an old money heiress when in reality she was a common thief.”
McDonnell was the owner of Bellum Entertainment, the L.A. production company behind true-crime shows including Bizarre Murders and I Married a Murderer, as well as syndicated children’s series like Zoo Clues and The Coolest Places on Earth. According to NBC News, her company had 30 different series airing on TV when financial challenges left employees without pay and McDonnell vanished.

The FBI believes she is in Dubai, and has placed her its new Most Wanted Fraudsters list, launched in June. A wanted poster, featuring a photo of her from 2018, said that she is “alleged to have knowingly, and with the intent to defraud, devised and participated in a scheme to obtain money, funds, assets, and property owned by Banc of California,” stealing $14.7 million from the bank between July 2017 and May 2018.
While pretending she was an heir to the McDonnell Aircraft Family with access to an $80 million secret trust, McDonnell “also defrauded additional financial institutions in a similar fashion, with an estimated loss of over $15 million,” the FBI said.
According to Rolling Stone, McDonnell’s own family was also victimized by her. Her grown sons said their mom “forged their signatures on quick-payday loans that left them on the hook for nearly $3 million.”
The FBI is asking anyone who knows McDonnell’s whereabouts to call its toll-free tip line at 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324) or reach out to a local FBI office, the nearest American Embassy or Consulate, or you can submit a tip online at tips.fbi.gov.

“I love that you can be anything,” Wilson told PEOPLE back in May, noting that she’s done about 70 books. “I love that you get to play all the characters.”
While she grew up a “theater kid,” Wilson noted that storytelling was her real passion. That’s why audiobooks are the perfect fit.
“All I ever wanted to do was tell stories, write stories and perform stories. . . . So I think that it makes sense to me that my job now is storytelling,” she said.
Does Mara Wilson Want to Make a Return to the Big Screen?Not really. However, she has had the opportunity to work on a few of her friends’ projects. But still, going back to acting full time would be a significant shift.

Martin Short Remembers Late Daughter Katherine With Powerful Words at Rare Impact Fund Benefit
Mental health was at the heart of Selena Gomez’s Rare Impact Fund benefit in Los Angeles on Wednesday, October 14. For Martin Short, the evening’s message was personal.
The actor presented the inaugural Katherine Short Legacy Award, named for his late daughter. The award recognizes people who make a difference in their communities through their work in mental health and well-being. Its first recipient was La Familia Counseling Center, a Sacramento organization celebrating 50 years of service. Katherine was a licensed clinical social worker who devoted her career to helping people through difficult moments.
In a video shared by Elizabeth Denton on Instagram, Short spoke about his daughter’s long struggle with mental health issues and why the Rare Impact Fund’s work matters to him. He began by comparing mental illness with cancer, which took his wife, Nancy Dolman, in 2010.
“Mental health and cancer, which took my wife, for example, are both diseases,” he said. “They are diseases, and sometimes diseases are terminal.”

“Katherine fought for so long with extreme mental health issues, borderline personality, other things,” Short continued. “And she did the best she could. Until she couldn’t.”
He then praised Gomez for using the benefit to raise money and awareness, saying it is important “to help people understand that mental health is simply an illness.” He added that it should be “not to be hidden in the shadows or perceived as a family embarrassment.”
Short also spoke about the grief he expects to carry with him. “The loss would be devastating to my soul as long as I’ll live,” he said, before quoting Dolly Parton: “Grief is love with no place to go.” He continued, “My pain about losing my daughter will always be present in my heart,” adding that “what we deeply love, we can never lose.”
Fans shared their thoughts on the emotional speech in the comments.
“😭😭 This is heartbreaking for him. Thank you sir. You have had so much loss. Thank you for advocating and making us laugh,” one shared.
“Bless that man and bless Selena for making sure he had a place to speak bout her,” another wrote.
A third replied, “Wow what a great way to put it: ‘Grief is Love with no place to go.’”
Katherine died by suicide on February 23 at age 42. She was one of three children Short and Dolman adopted. In a statement after her death, the family asked for privacy and remembered Katherine for “the light and joy she brought into the world.”

Roger Waters Tears Into 'Pr*ck' Metallica Frontman Over Apolitical Stance: 'I'm So Bored With Him'
Politics and music have collided following Metallica’s James Hetfield recently calling out other entertainers’ “bullish*t,” with Roger Waters not too pleased with the frontman’s recent comments.
Hetfield went viral during a Metallica concert at the Sphere, that had him addressing thousands of fans, alluding to certain artists taking a political stance in recent years with their shows. He said that the heavy metal band’s agenda is not to “influence you with their bull—-, OK? We’re here to forget about all of the outside s—.”
The Pink Floyd musician had some choice words in response to Hetfield’s comment, despite having made political statements himself in the past. He appeared as a guest on the Katie Halper Show podcast, where the topic of politics was brought up. Waters tore into the Metallica frontman when his recent comments at the Sphere were discussed.
“Can we stop talking about this prick?” remarked Waters. “I’m so bored with him. He’s just showing that he’s a complete prick. He’s got an IQ of about three and why we’re talking about him, I honestly don’t know because he’s a nobody and he’ll always be. He may have a few hundred million dollars or whatever, but he’s a prick and he’s no musician. I heard them. I told you I heard them playing acoustic instruments and they couldn’t. It was appalling.”
Waters went a step further, criticizing Hetfield’s broader comment as lacking empathy and suggesting the Metallica frontman had never been taught to show it.
“Obviously I wish he had grown up with a mama or a dad or a friend or even a cousin or somebody in the family who taken him to one side when he was little,” he said.
“It’s a shame this prick didn’t have somebody around him to explain that being kind is way more important than all that loud music and bouncing around and whatever. Being kind, have some empathy for your fellow human beings because we need that to spread through across the whole world.”
The Pink Floyd singer has been known for being outspoken about left-wing politics, anti-war activism, and criticism of Western governments. One of his most prominent political stances has been for Palestinian rights and support for the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement. He’s also been accused of vocal critic of President Donald Trump and military intervention.
Hetfield, on the other hand, has kept his views on politics generally private. He has often commented on his dislike of mixing politics and music, arguing that discussing politics divides people.

Massive Cartoon Network Leak Uncovers Decades of Behind-the-Scenes Files
Over 200GB of reported Cartoon Network production material has turned up on the internet, offering fans an unusual glimpse into the actual creative work that goes into some of the network’s most well-known animated series. The leak contains storyboards, character designs and animation assets from several shows, including The Powerpuff Girls, The Amazing World of Gumball and Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends.
The leak started circulating online in October via an anonymous account on X (formerly Twitter) known as ‘totallynotaburner’. Mashable reported that they had accessed a Google Drive folder containing the production files and confirmed the nature of the material. Kid Rock announced on Oct. 1 that Eminem would appear on “7 Sins,” a track from his new album Halfway 2 Jesus.
