Danny Bonaduce was known to be a bit of a prankster when he was a child actor on the ABC sitcom The Partridge Family. More than 50 years later, he’s been part of an ongoing prank at record stores that’s ultimately a great surprise for fans.

Bonaduce, 67, routinely sneaks into record stores and signs old Partridge Family albums that are in bargain bins.

Most recently, he stopped by Amoeba Music in San Francisco, where he spotted a $2.99 copy of the Partridge Family’s 1971 Up to Date album.

“We’re in the clearance section, which is only slightly insulting,” Bonaduce said in a recent TikTok video he posted from the store. “By the way, we got caught this time so we had to talk to management,” he added. “They were very cool.”

Bonaduce signed the record then placed it right behind a Robert Plant album in the bargain bin. He tagged the post with #autographbandit and asked fans to let him know if they find it.

Bonaduce has been busy this year. In August, he shared a TikTok from a visit to Eco Thrift in San Bernardino, Calif., where he found a copy of the Partridge Family’s 1971 epic Sound Magazine, behind a  Jimmy Swaggart album. Bonaduce whipped out his marker to autograph the front of the album for a lucky buyer.

On April 12, he signed a copy of 1972’s The Partridge Family Notebook while at a vintage record store in Seattle. Bonaduce noted that April 12 was his late co-star David Cassidy’s birthday, so he signed the album, “Happy Birthday David,” and placed it behind a Peter Frampton album in the store’s three-dollar bin.

Bonaduce has been the “autograph bandit” for at least five years. His first bandit-related TikTok post was in 2021, where he signed a copy of The Partridge Family Album at Amoeba Music in San Francisco.

During The Partridge Family’s four-season run, the made-for-TV band recorded eight studio albums, including a Christmas album, from 1970 to 1973.

Shirley Jones and David Cassidy were the only two Partridge Family cast members to really record on the bubblegum pop albums along with session musicians. On the TV show, Bonaduce played bass player middle brother Danny Partridge.

Speaking with Pop Culture Retro earlier this year, Bonaduce joked about his fake bass-playing on the popular sitcom.

“Nobody would have thought I was playing,” he shared, adding that Cassidy called him out during a musical performance for The Partridge Family pilot.

“In the middle of the song or at the end of the song, David Cassidy turns to me, a 10-year-old Danny Bonaduce, and looks at me and says, ‘You don’t strum a bass guitar, you pluck it. Do you think you can pluck it, kid?'” he recalled.

Guest star Johnny Cash then walked over and told Bonaduce he was doing “fine.”

The first thing in the video is a newborn, fast asleep in a father’s arms. By the end of Wednesday’s Instagram post, John Boyega had confirmed to fans that he is a husband and a dad, and that the news was not new to him.

On Oct. 14 Boyega shared a slideshow of photos with his wife, actress Tae Heckard, who now goes by Tae Boyega on Instagram. It includes a photo of the couple with her son, Boyega’s stepson, and ends with a video of Boyega rocking the sleeping baby. His caption reads, “Our bundle of joy has been with us for some time now”, followed by thanks for the well wishes. He also asked fans to send good wishes to his sister, who he said is about to give birth.

The caption indicates the baby arrived before the post did. It also follows what Boyega told The Guardian earlier this month. In that interview he said he is married, that his wife was pregnant, and that he is stepfather to her son.

He also described the wedding. It was small, he said, and he compared it to the one in Braveheart. He told the paper he would like a larger celebration later, because he and his wife like the idea of celebrating something established rather than the beginning. A bigger party, he joked, would mean shutting down Nigeria.

The relationship itself had stayed out of view for most of its length. A fan-shared photo of the pair at Disneyland first linked them in early 2025, and they did not publicly confirm the relationship before the recent posts. Essence dates that Disneyland sighting to April 2025, and describes Heckard as a model and actress. On Sept. 24, Capital Xtra reported that Heckard had shared an Instagram post showing two rings, and that Boyega had replied in the comments, “I’m onto you lover.”

Heckard’s post also included a photo of her reflected in Boyega’s sunglasses and a generated image of the couple, which Capital Xtra says is believed to be their first image together posted online. Capital Xtra noted that the two had also been seen separately wearing similar-looking wedding bands over recent months, and that no official statement confirmed a marriage at the time. The Guardian interview supplied that confirmation, and Wednesday’s post added the baby.

Wednesday’s post pulled the earlier pieces together: the wife who surfaced in September, the stepson and the pregnancy Boyega mentioned in his Guardian interview. Boyega, who played Finn in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, went from a pair of rings in a comment thread to a newborn video in less than a month.

Florida is in the middle of a tropical disease outbreak that has surpassed both recent and historical records due to its severity, with one part of the Sunshine State being particularly hit by dengue fever.

As of the latest report issued by state health officials, Florida saw an additional 72 cases of locally acquired dengue fever during the week of October 4 through 10. “In 2026, 368 cases of locally acquired dengue and 20 mosquito pools have been reported from eight counties,” reads the report, noting that 26 cases of international travel-associated dengue were reported during the same time frame, bringing the year’s total of international travel-associated dengue to 288 cases. 

Most international travel-associated cases involved travel to Cuba (240), followed by eight cases linked to travel to Colombia, seven cases connected to travel to Nicaragua, and six cases related to travel to India. “In 2026, 368 cases of locally acquired dengue have been reported in Broward, Hillsborough (310), Miami-Dade (9), Orange (5), Palm Beach, Pasco (4), Pinellas (37), and Polk [counties] with onset in July (21), August (159), and September (188),” says the report.

Per the Associated Press, this year’s outbreak is the highest for any state “since at least the 1940s,” based on medical journals and historical state health department information.

According to Coral Springs News, an 80-year-old person died of “dengue infection” accompanied by multi-organ failure and septic shock in Hillsborough County, where Tampa is located. Workers in the region are spraying to diminish the mosquito population.

Dengue fever is spread through mosquitoes in warm-weather regions like Florida, though historically most cases in the United States originate from international travel. Symptoms of dengue are similar to the flu, including high fever, headache, vomiting, and swollen glands, according to the Mayo Clinic.

It’s also called breakbone fever due to the muscle, bone, or joint pain it can cause. Most people recover from dengue in one to two weeks, but may feel tired for several weeks after the illness.

The canned apples also eliminate the need to peel, core and slice fresh fruit, saving considerable time and effort. Even better, the recipe puts the reserved apple juice to use in the filling, adding flavor while keeping the preparation relatively simple from start to finish. The crumb topping calls for 14 ounces of enriched all-purpose flour, 9 ounces of rolled oats or rolled wheat, 15 ounces of brown sugar, 4½ teaspoons of ground cinnamon and ½ teaspoon of salt. You’ll also need 1 pound of butter or margarine to bring the mixture together. For an additional layer of spice, the directions include 4½ teaspoons of ground nutmeg as an optional ingredient.

For the filling, you’ll need 6¼ pounds of canned, unsweetened sliced apples packed with their juice. The remaining ingredients are 10½ ounces of sugar, 1½ teaspoons of ground cinnamon and ¼ cup of frozen lemon juice concentrate. Keep some water nearby too—you’ll use it to supplement the reserved apple juice. Because the recipe specifies unsweetened sliced apples, sweetened apple pie filling isn’t a direct match for the original ingredient list.

How to Make the USDA Apple Crisp

Begin by preparing the crumb topping. Combine the flour, oats or rolled wheat, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt and optional nutmeg with the butter or margarine. Mix until the ingredients form crumbs, then set the topping aside while you assemble the filling.

Drain the apples, reserving their juice rather than discarding it. Add enough water to that juice to measure 1½ cups of liquid. The recipe calls for spreading 5 pounds, 9 ounces of drained apples in a 12-by-20-by-2½-inch steam table pan. Add the sugar, cinnamon and lemon juice concentrate to the apples, stirring to distribute everything throughout the fruit.

Pour the measured juice-and-water mixture over the filling, then distribute the crumb topping evenly across the surface.

For a conventional oven, bake at 425°F for 35 to 45 minutes. For a convection oven, the recipe recommends 350°F for 25 to 35 minutes.

Look for a browned, crisp topping before taking the pan out.

Once the dessert has cooled, divide it into five rows and 10 columns for 50 servings.

What I Thought of the USDA Apple Crisp

This recipe brought back a wave of nostalgia for me, reminding me of my school days when I would barter with classmates for the desserts they did not want. Rather than letting a treat go to waste or end up in the trash, we would trade snacks, swap lunch items and negotiate for the best desserts. Those small exchanges felt like major victories at the time, and this recipe instantly transported me back to that carefree era.

The process of making this delicious treat was not difficult or intimidating at all. Final Thoughts

I really enjoyed making this nostalgic recipe. It brought back fond memories and made the experience feel extra special.

My finished version turned out a little on the dry side, which may have been because I was too conservative with the amount of water I used. When I make it again, I’ll adjust the water and see whether that helps achieve the texture I was hoping for.

Even with that small issue, this was a fun recipe to revisit, and I’m glad I gave it a try. I could easily see myself making it with kids or adding it to my holiday baking plans as the season approaches.

Elizabeth Holmes, the founder of the blood-testing company Theranos, is once again in the public eye after a new documentary looks at the period prior to her starting to serve time in prison. The documentary, titled You Can See Everything, directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, provides a new perspective on the business scandal that made Holmes a well-known figure in Silicon Valley before she was convicted of fraud.

Holmes has been given a sentence of 11 years and three months after the jury convicted her of defrauding investors. The case brought attention to the promises made by Theranos, which had claimed that its technology could carry out a variety of medical tests using only a small quantity of blood.

What Did Elizabeth Holmes Do?

Holmes established Theranos in 2003 and departed Stanford University in 2004, a name that combines ‘therapy’ and ‘diagnosis’, as CNN reported. She presented the company as a means of carrying out blood tests more quickly, at a lower cost, and in a less invasive way. Early fundraising enabled the startup to become a success story in Silicon Valley. The company raised over $6 million during its early years and, according to The Straits Times, its value had, by 2010, reached approximately $1 billion.

In 2013, Holmes publicly introduced the Edison device, stating that it was capable of carrying out several tests using only a single drop of blood; this led to a great rise in investor confidence. By 2014, the value of Theranos had reached $9 billion, and Holmes had become a celebrated self-made billionaire.

Questions were soon raised as to whether the technology functioned as claimed. According to a 2015 investigation by The Wall Street Journal, Theranos used its own machines for only a small number of tests, and staff members expressed concerns regarding the accuracy of the results. Moreover, the company came under criticism for using testing devices that had not obtained the required approvals.

In 2016, federal health authorities stated that the Theranos lab in California had not met the required standards and presented an immediate threat to patient health and safety. The next year, the company’s reputation kept on deteriorating. In March 2018, the Securities and Exchange Commission charged Holmes and the former company president Ramesh “Sunny” Balwani with fraud.

The regulators stated that the two individuals had obtained over $700 million from investors by making misleading claims.

Holmes and Balwani were indicted in 2018; their cases then proceeded to separate trials. Holmes’ trial did not start until 2021, the date being delayed because of both the COVID-19 pandemic and her pregnancy, and she appeared in person to defend herself.

The prosecutors said that Holmes had misled her investors in order to keep the company going. The defense, on the other hand, claimed that her aim had been to build an ambitious business, not to commit a crime. Following the hearing of evidence given by dozens of witnesses and a deliberation that lasted over 50 hours, the jurors convicted Holmes in January 2022 on four counts concerning the deception of investors: one count of conspiracy and three counts of wire fraud. She was found not guilty on some of the other charges, and the jury decided not to convict her on the charges involving patients.

Where Is She Now?

In November 2022, Holmes was given a sentence of 11 years and three months’ imprisonment. She went to the Federal Prison Camp Bryan, a minimum-security prison in Texas, in May 2023. The federal appeals court confirmed her conviction in February 2025 and therefore left her sentence unchanged. She was also required to pay restitution, together with Balwani.

The case is still a warning regarding the dangers of believing a company’s assertions without reliable evidence; Theranos ultimately closed down, and its promise of revolutionizing medical testing never came true. Although Holmes has kept on challenging certain parts of the public account of the matter, she has been convicted criminally. She has applied for presidential clemency, but no decision has yet been made.

The scandal led to the creation of the 2019 HBO documentary The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley, which deals with the company’s rise and fall. The documentary can be obtained via HBO.

Holmes’ story is now the subject of a documentary called You Can See Everything, which had its theatrical release on October 16, 2026. The film, directed by Fielder and Oppenheim, covers the 34 days prior to Holmes going to prison, following the fact that she had invited a film crew into her home.

What started out as a portrait of her life turned into a more in-depth investigation looking at how she and the people around her present their versions of what happened. The 175-minute film thus forms another chapter in the public’s growing fascination with Holmes and Theranos.

U2 is heading back to stadiums, and the Irish rock legends are bringing along a familiar face who can do a bit of everything.

Beck, the genre-hopping singer behind “Loser,” will open all six announced shows on U2’s The Greatest Show on Earth World Tour, which kicks off Feb. 23, 2027, in Mexico City. It’s a reunion for the two acts. Beck previously supported U2 on its 2017 Joshua Tree stadium tour.

The timing couldn’t be better for Beck. In September, he released Ride Lonesome, his 15th studio album and his first collection of new songs since 2019’s Hyperspace. This record leans into the quieter, folkier side of his catalog, reuniting him with the musicians from beloved albums like Sea Change and Morning Phase, along with longtime mixer Nigel Godrich. Beck said that returning to that sound also helped the group find new sounds and emotional textures.

He’s currently on a North American tour behind the album, with stops including Brooklyn Oct. 22 and 23 before wrapping in Nashville on Halloween. Then he’ll trade theaters for stadiums.

Beck will join U2 for two nights each at Mexico City’s Estadio GNP Seguros, São Paulo’s Estádio MorumBIS and Buenos Aires’ Estadio River Plate. U2.com presales begin Oct. 19, and Europe and North America dates are coming in the next few weeks. U2 is also planning a homecoming show in Ireland.

The tour supports Carnaval De Luz, U2’s 16th studio album, due Nov. 13. This will be the band’s first stadium shows since 2019. It also carries extra meaning for drummer Larry Mullen Jr., who sat out the band’s Las Vegas Sphere residency because of a long-standing neck problem. In a recent Rolling Stone cover story, he said many people urged him to retire. His family opposed a risky surgery that carried a small chance of paralysis, but the drummer went ahead after a Dublin neurosurgeon agreed to operate, calling him “a national treasure.”

The surgery worked, and Mullen has since relearned to play in a simpler style. He isn’t sure how long he’ll last each night onstage, but he told the magazine that even an hour would be enough for him.

With all four original members back together and a star opening act, U2’s return to stadiums is shaping up to be a celebration of second chances for the band and fans alike. Together, they live up to the tour’s name.

Hilary Swank is standing up for moms who choose to have babies later in life.

The two-time Oscar winner, who is pregnant with her third child at age 52, will address the topic on The Drew Barrymore Show in an interview set to air Tuesday, Oct. 20.

In a clip released on Instagram on Thursday, Oct. 15, Swank remembered a woman saying to her, “‘How dare you! You’re too old. My dad was my favorite person and he died when I was in my early twenties, and it’s just devastation.'”

The actress turned it around.

“I related to it because my dad has also passed, but he was also one of my favorite people on earth, so I was drawn to that, and I thought to myself ‘I would rather be born and have that person, who was my favorite person, and experience that — than not at all.’ That’s how I took what she said.”

The Million Dollar Baby star is also mom to three-year-old twins in daughter Aya and son Ohm, whose father is social venture entrepreneur Philip Schneider. The couple wed in 2018.

She was previously married to Chad Lowe from 1997 to 2007.

“There’s a lot of backlash women get for having children older, but not men, which is interesting,” Swank said.

Barrymore agreed.

“It’s weird,” the E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial star said. “Men have babies in their 80s and that is not a euphemism or a joke. You had kids in your forties and people weren’t always gracious about it.”

Swank told Women’s Health in 2025 that having children later in life was made possible because she froze her eggs at age 37.

“I would have had kids earlier,” she said. “I’m not saying I actively waited until 47. But that was a magical time in my life, when it all culminated. It was the right time for myriad reasons.”

The Amelia star feels she is a changed mom because of the extra time she had to prepare.

“I’m a very different parent than I would’ve been, even in my early 40s,” she told the magazine. “I’m much more patient. I’m much more understanding. I am much more, I think, interested in a different way than I would’ve been.”

She continued, “I’m really interested in their brains. I am fascinated about what makes them tick. And I have my career that’s already established, so I’m not divided. I’m able to really sink in and be present with them and be a hands-on parent.”

A well-deserved maternity leave is on the horizon for Dancing with the Stars pro, Witney Carson.

In an Instagram video shared Thursday, the DWTS pro shared a clip of herself at a doctor’s appointment and followed it with multiple scenes of her on the ballroom floor with partner Guillermo Rodriguez. She opened up about how she felt performing on the dance competition show while five months pregnant.

“Dancing on national television while pregnant was something I was scared to do, but I wanted to try — for myself and for every woman who’s ever questioned what she’s capable of,” she wrote in the video’s caption. “I’m so proud of myself for trusting my body and learning to give myself grace along the way.”

Her post comes as she and Rodriguez were eliminated from the competition, following their Super Bowl-themed performance to Bad Bunny’s “Tití Me Preguntó” on Tuesday. Carson, blowing the audience away before the music even played, started the number in a split while being held in the air by two other dancers.

“This season, I found a strength in myself I didn’t know I had and being surrounded by a community that celebrates and supports women has made it even more meaningful,” she continued. “Thank you for making me feel so loved through it all. There is something so powerful about women cheering each other on, and I’ve felt that every week. We can do anything.”

Carson, 32, is already a mom to two sons, Leo, 5, and Jet, 3, whom she shares with her husband, Carson McAllister. In September, the couple revealed on Instagram that baby No. 3 will also be a boy.

Following her and Rodriguez’s elimination, Carson raved about the Jimmy Kimmel Live! sidekick and how he was protective of her while they rehearsed together.

In a ballroom-side interview after the show, Carson shared with Extra that he was “always kind of looking out for me and making sure that I’m good … so always just thinking about me and it’s really special.”

In the late 1980s, as the Soviet Union began opening itself to the West, one of the country’s biggest underground rock stars suddenly found himself working with the likes of Annie Lennox, Chrissie Hynde and Dave Stewart.

Boris Grebenshchikov was unlike almost anyone Western audiences had encountered before. The Russian singer-songwriter and poet was variously compared by critics to David Bowie and Marc Bolan, but one nickname proved particularly irresistible: the “Russian Bob Dylan.”

Now, a documentary capturing that extraordinary moment in his career is resurfacing some 30 years after it largely disappeared.

The Long Way Home: Remastered and Expanded, directed by the late Michael Apted, will be released Oct. 20 on Amazon, Apple TV, Google and other major digital platforms in the United States and Canada. The film will also become available in the United Kingdom, France, Germany and other countries during the week of Oct. 19.

The newly restored film follows Grebenshchikov, the leader of the influential Russian rock band Aquarium, as he became the first Soviet musician to record in the West during the Glasnost era.

His unlikely musical adventure brought him into the orbit of some major Western stars. The documentary features Stewart and members of Aquarium, with appearances by Lennox, Hynde, Ray Cooper and Crosby, Stills & Nash.

Apted, who died in 2021, was already an acclaimed filmmaker when he made The Long Way Home. His credits included Coal Miner’s Daughter, Gorillas in the Mist and the groundbreaking Up documentary series. He would later direct the 1999 James Bond film The World Is Not Enough.

In The Long Way Home, Apted documented Grebenshchikov as he seized a newfound freedom to make music with Western artists while confronting a much more complicated situation back home.

Members of Aquarium felt abandoned, while some of Grebenshchikov’s longtime Russian fans weren’t sure what to make of the English-language songs he brought home.

His push into the West culminated in the 1989 album Radio Silence, released by Columbia Records and produced by Stewart. Lennox, Hynde and other prominent musicians contributed to the project.

The original documentary aired in the United Kingdom and premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, but despite receiving critical acclaim, it largely vanished from public view over the ensuing three decades.

Producer Steven Lawrence has now overseen a restoration based on the only existing 16mm print of the film, with original editor Susanne Rostock.

But The Long Way Home: Remastered and Expanded isn’t simply a restoration.

Lawrence and Rostock also created a new epilogue following what happened to Grebenshchikov in the decades after Radio Silence. The addition partially fulfills Apted’s hopes of making a sequel before his death.

And Grebenshchikov’s story has acquired a dramatically different final chapter.

The musician, now living outside Russia, has become an outspoken critic of Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine. The new epilogue follows Grebenshchikov’s life in exile and brings Apted’s portrait of a musician emerging from the Soviet Union into the present day.

Grebenshchikov’s connections to Western rock didn’t end with his 1980s breakthrough, either. In 1997, the musician dubbed the “Russian Bob Dylan” recorded in the United States with members of The Band, the group famously associated with Dylan.

Over the years, Grebenshchikov has also worked with musicians including Brian Eno and Robert Wyatt and recorded at London’s Abbey Road Studios.

The Long Way Home: Remastered and Expanded runs 98 minutes and features dialogue in English and Russian with English subtitles.

An Oregon mother is sharing a heartbreaking detail about the deadly shooting at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon, where three children and a teacher were killed on Thursday, October 15.

Kayla Major, who identifies herself as @majormammax2 on Threads, shared her account of the shooting in a seven-part series of posts, describing the fear she experienced after learning that an active shooter was at the elementary school where her youngest child is a fifth grader.

Amid the chaos and uncertainty, one detail has stayed with her.

“Today was picture day at Silver Rail Elementary,” she wrote. “Some parents will receive school photos of their children taken on the very day their lives were taken from them. I cannot begin to comprehend that kind of heartbreak. There are no words for it. No words that could ever make it make sense.”

Major said she was at her workplace, located directly behind the fence separating it from Silver Rail Elementary, when a coworker ran to the front office and locked the door.

“There’s an active shooter,” a coworker told her, according to Major’s account.

When she learned the shooting was at the school where her son attends fifth grade, Major said she ran toward the scene. She described seeing hundreds of flashing lights, ambulances, fire engines, and unmarked vehicles before law enforcement stopped her.

Major said she spent four and a half hours texting her son and his father, hoping for confirmation that her child was safe.

“Four and a half hours of fear, uncertainty, and desperately hoping that the next child brought out would be mine,” she wrote. “Four and a half hours that I will never be able to fully explain to someone who wasn’t there.”

Authorities said three children — ages 5, 8, and 11 — and a teacher were killed in the shooting. The suspected 16-year-old shooter also died. Another child and a teacher were critically injured, according to Reuters.

Major expressed sympathy for the families whose lives were changed by the tragedy, as well as gratitude for the school staff, first responders and community members who helped during the emergency.

“My heart is shattered for those families. For those children. For every parent who walked into today expecting an ordinary day and will never be the same again,” she wrote.

She also thanked members of Journey Church, which opened its doors to the community as families waited to reunite with their children. Major ended her message with a plea for people to support one another in the aftermath of the shooting.

“We will carry today with us for a long time,” she wrote. “Please be gentle with one another. Please check on each other. And please, hold your babies a little tighter tonight. Because today, some parents are going home without theirs.”

Justin immediately came into power, winning the opening challenge and getting to captain the Orange team, a group of esteemed vets and champs that proceeded to be the most dominant group of the season. In the premiere, we also saw Justin immediately put the target on Cedric Hodges, looking for some revenge on the guy who previously sent him out of the game. This first episode served as a microcosm of Justin’s entire run on Season 42: Sitting comfortably, but not afraid to make some mess in the process.

We saw the latter particularly during Justin’s first big moment of the season. After he saw Anna Leigh Wilson allegedly put her hand on Josh Goldstein’s leg during a night out, he confronted the rookie, saying in confessional she was a “terrible human” for flirting with him and Leo Dionocio while she had a husband at home. Soon enough, though, his ire would be directed at someone within his own team. When Chris Underwood was thrown into elimination by default, he asked captain Tori Deal to put Justin in as his best shot at survival. When she did, he was apoplectic, feeling CT Tamburello was the better pick for his difficulties during the dailies. Down in the sand, it seemed Chris had chosen his opponent wisely, as Justin struggled physically and mentally. But he was able to pull off a massive upset, giving the former champ his first loss ever.

With that huge victory on his shoulders, Justin figured he had proven himself as someone to be kept around for the final. But when Tori was tasked with sending anyone into the final elimination of the season, things rang remarkably similar to the last time. The captain yet again nominated Justin, who was even more furious this time around. Yet again, he was put up against CT, and the five-time champ was spared. This time, however, his time in the sand was not as successful. Alexis Lete got out to an early lead in a puzzle gauntlet, and unlike the last time, Justin wasn’t able to mount a comeback. For the second time, he was sent out just shy of the final. But, as he admitted on his way out, this time hurt substantially more.

I know there was some talk this episode about whether Adrienne would send you into elimination again, considering how close you are. So were you surprised that she picked you for the second time?
Oh no. I knew exactly what time it was, and I knew it was time for me to get sent in again. I mean, truthfully, you don’t walk into an elimination filled with puzzles and think, “Yeah, let me go send CT in against my team.” That’s just a no-brainer. I knew the moment I saw three puzzle chambers, it was game over.

As in you thought you were already done? Because we heard in this episode that peopel didn’t necessarily know how good Lete was at puzzles.
Honestly, I woke up that morning and I knew it was end game for me anyways. I knew that if I was going into elimination, I was going home. I just had a very bad feeling. I had a gut feeling, and usually my gut is correct. And then once we got there, I knew for a fact that there was no way getting around it, and Adrienne was going to say my name.

I don’t think anybody knew that Lete was as good as puzzles as she was. So honestly, Adrienne should have picked CT, just because that would have been a matchup that would have been worth watching! It would have given Lete something to fight for. Lete probably could have gone on like a motorized wheelchair that went two miles an hour and still beat me. She could have been walking on a cane, and she still would have beaten me.

You tell Adrienne in this episode, “If [Tori] says my name, I will purposely do everything to sabotage her for the rest of the game.” If you had survived to make the final, would you have actually sabotaged your team?
No, I would not have. I absolutely would not have. I don’t have it in me to throw things. I don’t have it in me to sabotage. That was just me trying to say anything and everything that I possibly could in that time to try and think of ways to not get her to say my name. But no, had I made it to that final, I would have been running with Orange like the lightning speed of a cheetah.

Let’s stay on the subject of the Orange team captain. You had choice words for her both times she sent you into elimination, saying, “She’s a s—t-ass human” and “Tori’s just as fake as those fake t—s on her body.” Talk to me more about what you were feeling towards her in those moments
I think the first time me saying that she was a s—t person was just the first initial reaction to me getting voted in. Especially after us having such a good relationship throughout the season. I had been in her room multiple times, just hanging out with her and Michele. We had learned so much about each other. We had had so many conversations prior about how happy we were that we had gotten along.

Because obviously, I don’t get along with her best friend Aneesa; Aneesa and I aren’t friends. And so I honestly had worried coming into 42, that Aneesa had portrayed me in a light that wasn’t me to Tori. And Tori reassured me that Aneesa’s problems are hers, and she tries to see who everybody is at face value before she makes that decision. So me and Tori had a really good relationship prior to going into that elimination. And then once she sent me in, it just sent me into a rage. And I was just so pissed off that I immediately started the word vomit of talking s—t. Because that’s what I do best, I talk s—t. And it is what it is. I like it. It’s fun. I’m very witty with what I say.

And then after that elimination, and I won, she apologized to me. She told me that I proved everything that I she didn’t think I had to her. And so I was like, “Perfect, water under the bridge. This is good. It is what it is. Just don’t send me in again.” And she’s like, “Girl, got you. Don’t worry. It’s fine. We’re good now.”

And then she sends me in. So naturally, at this point, my mouth has zero stopping points for what I can say. And it should have stopping points, because I probably should not have talked about her body, and I can fully, wholeheartedly admit that that was wrong. I should have talked about maybe her character or her personality, and not her body image. So I can definitely apologize and say that I should not have said that. But in the time being, I just was in a very emotional, heated state, that anything that was coming out of my mouth was coming out. And if you got stuck in the crossfire, you got stuck in the crossfire.

We saw that she seemed to be quite emotional after you were eliminated. What’s your reaction to that?
I actually saw her after the VMAs two weeks ago. That was the first time I’ve seen her since filming. And I was a little nervous at first because I was like, “I don’t know how this is going to play out. I don’t know what you’re going to say. Are you going to tell me things that I want to hear just because you want me to hear them? Is it going to be the truth?” And she actually was telling me that when I got eliminated, she cried, and it was hard for her to be happy about going to the finale because she realized that she just lost such a big detrimental part of the team.

And at first, a part of me was like, “I don’t know if I believe that.” Because I also had Will tell me that he wasn’t very happy after TJ told them that they made it to the final, because all he could think about was how I left. And I believed it from him. And then Tori told me, I was like, “I don’t know if I believe it so much from you.” But after watching the episode, it’s very visible. You can see that some heartstrings were pulled, and there are some tears being shed from Will and Tori. And you can see Tori trying to look at the puzzle pieces, trying to figure out maybe what went wrong, what happened. So I mean, it was nice to see that she felt the repercussions of what she just lost, because it was a lot of risk with no reward.

Well the person who was spared instead of you twice was CT, someone you had certainly been vocal about, particularly when it comes to his performance throughout the season. Talk to me more about your thoughts on him.
Sill my biggest issue with CT during the season is ,any time something went wrong where CT was at the hands of it, there was never accountability. And I think that was why me, along with the other teammates, were upset multiple times. The telephone challenge that we did [where] we had to run up and down, there was never information coming down from him. There were never clarifying questions that maybe he didn’t understand something. Whereas Adrienne, if she didn’t understand something that was said and she couldn’t see something, she was going down to Cassidy, being like, “Ask this question.” There was communication coming from both ends, and for us there was no communication coming from the top end.

And instead of him taking accountability, being like, “Oh, maybe I should have asked a question or two,” it was just playing the blame game of this, this, and that. “Oh, well, maybe Justin threw it because he has a friend on the other team, and he knows that he won’t get sent in.” Instead of just being like, “Damn, maybe I should have asked [some questions].” There are just times when I feel like if there had been accountability, I think the way that I viewed the season and him would have been very different. But because there wasn’t, and it was just always a straight blame game, it was easier for me to sit here and say that he was a liability than anything else.

So we need to get into your comments on Anna Leigh. You say that you had dinner with her and her husband prior to filming, which causes you to confront her when you believe she put her hand on Josh’s leg. In confessional, you say, “I just don’t like Anna Leigh and I want everybody to know the terrible human that she is.” And, when I interviewed her, she told me, “He screamed in my face multiple times throughout the season. I never screamed back. He called me so many names that I don’t think it’s right for any person to call other people, much less a woman, when you’re a man, and it’s just not acceptable to me.” So talk to me about your feelings on her, and why you decided to confront her.
So I set an expectation for myself with her coming into this season. And it was a very high expectation because of how excited I was to film with her. We had conversations prior to filming. I was helping her with the packing list. I was texting her while we were on our way to the airport to film. There were conversations had. So I had this expectation that her and I were going to be really, really good together. We were going to have a great game together. I set an expectation that was not met, and that’s nobody’s fault but my own.

I think once I realized who she was and the things that she was able to do when a glass of wine comes into your hand, then it shows a lot more than what you would like it to show. And I think after that one conversation [with Leo], instead of her just taking the accountability and being like, “F—k, I shouldn’t have done that,” she continued to have those conversations and continue to solely hang out with Leo by herself, and go to the gazebo with a guitar and make songs together. There were just things that, if you’re going to apologize, you shouldn’t continue to do. And I just continued to see these patterns continue, and it just got to the point where I just was pissed off. I didn’t want to talk about it anymore.

And she’ll sit here and say that she doesn’t have respect for me because I didn’t pull her to the side and have a conversation with her. But she also didn’t have respect for her husband to have those conversations that she was having in private. So I don’t believe or feel like she deserves a private conversation. We’re here to film a TV show. Nothing should be in private. Everything should be filmed and everything should be on camera. So if you feel like a private off-camera conversation is owed to you, then you’re doing something incorrect.

I don’t think that she really is the terrible person that I said that she was on the show. I don’t actually have that much hatred towards her. I think that maybe one day in the future, maybe we could somewhat not necessarily be friends, but not necessarily be total enemies towards each other. But I think right now where we stand is just very far away from each other. We’re sitting down, not standing.

About the whole leg situation, I also want to say Will was actually the first person to see her touching Josh’s leg. He’s the one that looked at me and was like, “Bro, bro!” And that’s when I turned around, saw it, and immediately looked at him and said, “Oh my God, I gotta tell Adrienne. I want to go stir the pot.”

So I immediately told Adrienne because Adrienne’s my girl. That’s my person, and I’m not gonna go start anything with her if I don’t need to start anything. There’s no point. That’s my friend. So me telling her that there was her touching, Anna Leigh was not f—king gripping his leg. She wasn’t groping the man’s leg. It was one of those leaning over to the side, sitting away from each other, having that conversation of just being closer to the group of people there. And his leg just, I don’t know, happened to be there. But maybe just touch the chair that you’re sitting on or anything else. You know, I’m not saying that her hand was there for a whole minute; it was probably there for a couple of seconds. But a couple of seconds is enough for me to just start something.

Amanda Seyfried got into a heated exchange with Elizabeth Holmes’ partner, Billy Evans, during a tense dinner featured in a new documentary about the disgraced Theranos founder.

The confrontation unfolds in You Can See Everything, a nearly three-hour documentary directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, that offers an unusually intimate look at Holmes’ life in the weeks before she began serving her federal prison sentence in May 2023.

Seyfried, who won an Emmy for portraying Holmes in the Hulu miniseries The Dropout, becomes involved in the documentary after Holmes begins serving her sentence. She reenacts moments from Holmes’ life and participates in conversations with Fielder about the former Theranos CEO and the circumstances surrounding her conviction.

One revelation prompts Seyfried to join Fielder for dinner with Evans. Fielder tells the actress that Evans allegedly sought a share of the documentary’s profits in a meeting with the filmmakers and executives at A24, the studio behind the project.

Seyfried agrees to meet with Evans to find out whether Holmes knew about the alleged arrangement and whether she had been involved. The evening initially appears to be cordial, with Seyfried briefly speaking with Holmes over the phone from prison, but the conversation takes a contentious turn when Evans criticizes Seyfried’s portrayal of his partner in The Dropout.

The disagreement eventually shifts to politics, specifically conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, whom Evans says he admires. Seyfried had previously criticized Kirk following his assassination, calling him “hateful,” according to People.

Evans confronts Seyfried over her comments, and the exchange grows increasingly tense. Seyfried and Fielder ultimately leave his home without determining whether Holmes knew about the alleged financial arrangement.

You Can See Everything, which follows Holmes, Evans, and their two young children during the 34 days leading up to Holmes’ incarceration, opened in theaters on October 16.

“April Love” was a 1957 song by Pat Boone that was written for a movie of the same name, starring Boone and Shirley Jones. The song, which rose all the way to number one on the charts and spent six weeks in the position, was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song. Since then, the song has been featured in many other movies and TV shows like Tales From the Crypt and Quantum Leap.

When speaking about the famous film that the song was made for, Boone revealed that he refused to kiss his scene partner. “April Love was my 2nd movie, and what was to be my first movie kiss was 50 years in coming,” he said, according to PEOPLE. “At the time, I had not discussed with my wife her reaction to my kissing actresses in movies. I balked at the director’s proposal, which was not in the script. When I asked for time to discuss it with my wife and get her permission, with the promise that I wouldn’t enjoy it, the time to do it in the film had passed.”

He continued, “After 50 years, Shirley and I, and Shirley Jones and her husband, Marty, agreed that we owed each other that one kiss. They both granted permission. But the right moment didn’t actually appear until 50 years later, when the refurbished film was being honored at the Egyptian Theatre. When the movie ended, the request came in the Q&A, and with both mates looking on, I directed that teenage kiss with Shirley Jones. Luckily, it was photographed, and here it is. I’m afraid I broke my promise to my wife. I kissed dear Shirley Jones, and I did enjoy it, I must confess. Did she? Ask her.”

Cher has been an icon in many ways since the ’60s, with vocals as powerful as her wardrobe. The singer and late designer Bob Mackie had a decades-long friendship, and Cher recalls her Met Gala dress being made of a unique material.

The pop singer was well known during the peak of her career for her chiseled abs, slim physique, and jaw-dropping red carpet and stage ensembles. She and Mackie met in 1967 on The Carol Burnett Show, and the rest was history.

One of Mackie’s most famous looks for Cher was her 1974 transparent Met Gala dress that appeared as if she were naked, glimmering with jewels, with white feathered sleeves to match. In an interview with Vogue, Cher looks back at one of her most memorable moments with the late designer.

“There was one we called The Dress. It was the dress I wore to my first Met Gala. I also wore it on the cover of Time magazine. But it wasn’t meant to be that [dress],” she explained.

“Bob, Vogue, and I were doing a decades [photo shoot] of dresses from the 1920s to 1970s. When we were going to the Met, I had no idea what to wear, and we were like, “Bob, what about this dress [from the shoot]?” What I didn’t realize is that most of the people were surprised, because it looks like you’re naked. You’re not—but it looks like it.”

Cher adds that one of the amazing things about Mackie’s designs is that they could be worn inside out because of how they were “beautifully” made. She also recalls the first fitting she did for the naked dress and learning that it was made of an illegal material.

“When we were doing the [naked] dress, I remember coming in for a fitting, and I could see this little kitchen. This woman was taking things out of the refrigerator and putting them into the trash can. I had no idea what she was doing, explained Cher.

“So I was like, ‘Bob, who is that?’ And he was like, ‘That’s Marlene Dietrich!’ She brought the material that we were making the dress out of. The secret of the dress that people don’t know is that it was made out of a material that was illegal in America, called soufflé.”

The virtually transparent fabric created a seamless nude illusion when worn. It’s an ultra-fine, sheer French silk weave that was used for only a handful of gowns. Soufflé comes with a warning, as the delicate, whisper-thin silkk is extremely flammable and could cause a fire hazzard.

As a result, the fabric fails to meet textile safety measures set by consumer protection laws. Cher and Marilyn Monroe‘s legendary “Happy Birthday, Mr. President” dress is one of the few that were made, as soufflé cannot legally be commercially produced, imported, or sold.

If Cher’s Met Gala dress wasn’t iconic enough, knowing Mackie sourced a relatively banned fabric to create it makes it even more worthy as a piece of fashion history.

An estimated 45 million US adults wear contact lenses, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Especially if you’ve been wearing contacts for years, you likely consider yourself an expert. Maybe you don’t even need a mirror to put them in anymore because it’s become as habitual as brushing your teeth. 

Still, ophthalmologists find that even the most seasoned contact lens-wearers make mistakes. One, for example, is sleeping in your lenses. If you’ve dozed off with your lenses still in, you know firsthand that it can make your eyes feel dry and it can be hard to see properly because your lenses may have shifted positions. But this habit leads to more than discomfort. As ophthalmologists previously told Parade, falling asleep wearing your lenses prevents oxygen from reaching the cornea, which increases the risk of infection.

Another common mistake people who wear contact lenses make is wearing expired lenses. Yep, they do expire! While it may seem to make financial sense to stretch out how long you wear your lenses, wearing expired lenses can lead to inflammation and bacterial infections.

There is yet another common mistake people who wear contact lenses make, and this one is serious; the consequences can lead to blindness.

The Dangerous Habit Contact Lens-Wearers Should Stop Doing ASAP 

A 20-year-old is going viral on TikTok for sharing a post in August saying that wearing her contact lenses in the shower is causing her to go blind. More than 4.8 million people have liked the post and it has more than 35,000 comments since it went up. 

As you know, you can’t believe everything you see on social media, and claiming to be going blind from wearing contact lenses in the shower is a pretty alarming statement. Is there any truth to it? Parade talked to three ophthalmologists to find out and all three say that it can happen, but it’s extremely rare.

“Wearing contact lenses in the shower can expose the eye to microorganisms found in water. One of the most concerning is Acanthamoeba, a microscopic organism that can cause a serious infection of the cornea, the clear front surface of the eye,” says Dr. Jorge Agi, MD, an assistant professor of ophthalmology at the University of South Florida and chief of ophthalmology at Tampa General Hospital.

Dr. Daniel Brocks, MD, an ophthalmologist and the chief medical officer at BostonSight, says that Acanthamoeba keratitis (AK) is a rare vision-threatening parasitic infection of the cornea that can lead to significant pain, prolonged treatment and permanent vision loss. “When infected water gets trapped under the contact lens and sits on the cornea, particularly a cornea that has been compromised, it can cause this serious infection. Although uncommon, the risk is not worth wearing contact lenses in the shower,” he says.

Dr. Brocks notes that anyone—including people who don’t wear contacts—can develop AK, but the vast majority of cases are in people who wear contacts. “Risk factors include rinsing or storing contact lenses in tap water, swimming, showering or using hot tubs while wearing contact lenses,” he explains.

Dr. Benjamin Lin, MD, an ophthalmologist at Texas Retina Associates and a volunteer assistant professor at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, says that AK is extremely painful and difficult to treat because it can form cysts that lie dormant for extended periods of time.

AK isn’t the only bacterial infection that showering in your contacts can cause. Dr. Lin says that there is another bacterial infection, Pseudomonas, that can lead to contact lens-related ulcers. “Both can lead to permanent vision loss if the ulcer is not treated promptly. Even with aggressive treatment, sometimes we are unable to control the ulcer, and there is permanent scarring of the cornea, the clear window into the eye,” he tells Parade.

Other Places You Shouldn’t Wear Contact Lenses

The shower isn’t the only place you shouldn’t wear contact lenses. “The same general rule applies to swimming pools, lakes, rivers, oceans and hot tubs. Contact lenses should ideally be removed before exposing the eyes to water,” Dr. Agi says. In other words, anytime you’re planning on submerging yourself in water, take your contacts out first.

If your vision is drastically impaired without wearing your contacts, you may be wondering how you’re supposed to see while enjoying an ocean, lake or pool. After all, you can’t exactly wear your glasses while swimming. In these cases, Dr. Agi recommends prescription swimming goggles. That way, you’ll still be able to see and your eyes will be protected. 

“The simplest advice I give patients is: contact lenses and water should not mix. That includes shower water, even though it may look perfectly clean,” Dr. Agi explains.

While most infections won’t result in blindness, Dr. Agi says that a serious corneal infection can cause significant pain, redness, sensitivity to light, blurred vision and sometimes permanent corneal scarring.

Other Ways To Support Your Eye Health, if You Wear Contact Lenses

By now, you know that contact lenses and water definitely don’t mix. But there are other important rules to live by if you wear contact lenses.

As previously mentioned, don’t sleep in your contacts. Dr. Brocks emphasizes that it’s never recommended to sleep in contacts—even for just a short nap—because it dramatically increases your risk of serious infections that could permanently damage vision. 

“Good contact lens hygiene is extremely important. Always wash and thoroughly dry your hands before handling your lenses,” Dr. Agi says, sharing another important eye health rule to follow. This may sound basic, but when you’ve been wearing contacts for a long time and it only takes you a few seconds to put them in, it’s easy to skip this step.

If you can, Dr. Brocks recommends reducing the time in your lenses by wearing glasses sometimes. This allows for more oxygen to reach the corneas, letting your eye fully breathe. It also lowers the risk of eye dryness and infection.

“Contact lenses are generally very safe when used correctly,” Dr. Agi emphasizes. “The key is remembering that they are medical devices that sit directly on the surface of the eye, so good hygiene matters.” 

As long as you follow the safe practices guidelines when it comes to wearing contacts, the risk of infection is low, including the risk of blindness.

“Out of Touch’ was a 1984 song by Hall & Oates. It rose all the way to number one on the Billboard Hot 100, where it remained for two weeks. The song was their fifth and final number one song.

John Oates, who wrote the chorus, explained the meaning behind the line, “We’re soul alone and soul really matters to me.” According to SongFacts, he said, “Don’t lose your soul is one of our central themes. Soul matters. Roots matter. They’re the source of your power, your core, the energy that sets you apart from the molecules in the wallpaper.”

The song is still popular to this day, partially due to its inclusion in the video game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. As one listener on YouTube said, “Heard this back when playing Vice City on PS2, instantly fell in love with the song.” Another said, “Somehow, they combined just the right amount of cheese, sexiness, and substance into this song and video. It’s an 80’s masterpiece which can be enjoyed in any decade.”

When speaking about songwriting with Song Writers on Process, Oates explained his process. “I don’t want to sacrifice the words and the lyrics if I can help it. If the melody is forcing me to go for something different, like a different vowel sound or a different line, before I make that change, I would rather play with the rhythm. Sometimes you can squeeze in what might seem to be an awkward lyrical phrase if you approach it from a different rhythmic perspective.”

He continued, “Let’s say you have the line, ‘She sat at the bar and looked away.’ There’s a rhythm that works perfectly with those lines and with the stress in certain syllables. But you could play with it by speeding up the rhythm of the line. If you do, you might be able to put something after it or before it. You have to play with the actual rhythms of the phraseology. So while the lines are tied to the melody, the melody can be adapted if you approach it from a different rhythmic perspective.”

Hall & Oates have had many other hits throughout the years. Some of their other popular songs include “Rich Girl,” “Family Man,” “Maneater,” and “Kiss on My List.” They were inducted into both the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2016.

Oates is currently 78. Daryl Hall is 80.

“November Rain” stands out as one of Guns N’ Roses’ most ambitious songs. Written by frontman Axl Rose, the sweeping power ballad was released as a single in February 1992, following its appearance on the band’s 1991 album Use Your Illusion I. 

Despite running nearly nine minutes, the song became a major hit. It reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped the Cash Box Top 100 in the United States. It also found success internationally, reaching No. 4 in the U.K. and No. 2 in Portugal.

The track’s length was unusual for a chart hit. When it was released, “November Rain” became the longest song to reach the Hot 100’s top 10, holding that distinction until Taylor Swift’s extended version of “All Too Well” surpassed it in 2021.

One of the defining moments in “November Rain” comes when Slash takes over with his guitar. As he explained to Guitar World, the solo came together naturally as he played. “All the solos, that one included, were very spontaneous and at-the-moment when the song was written,” he said. 

“You figure out what the chord changes are going to be and then just do whatever you feel. The ‘November Rain’ solo, which sounds so structured to me now, was just what happened in the moment.” 

Slash later revealed that Guns N’ Roses had recorded an 18-minute version of “November Rain” in 1986, during a session with former Nazareth guitarist Manny Charlton. The recording took place years before the band released its debut album, Appetite for Destruction.

The song’s dramatic music video, directed by Andy Morahan, added to its lasting legacy. Inspired by Del James’ short story “Without You,” the video follows a rock star dealing with the loss of his girlfriend. 

The production also ranked among the most expensive music videos ever made, with an estimated budget of $1.5 million when it premiered on June 6, 1992. 

The video’s popularity extended well beyond the 1990s. It made history in 2018 as the first pre-YouTube music video to reach one billion views, then hit two billion views in February 2023.

The song’s lasting influence has also earned it recognition from music publications. Classic Rock ranked “November Rain” No. 4 on its list of the “Greatest Power Ballads of All Time,” praising its emotional weight and romantic lyrics. 

“It’s beautiful without being sappy, tormented without being wrist-slashing,” the publication wrote. “Away from urging his enemies to get in the ring, Axl Rose was adept at writing some melting romantic poetry.”
