The adorable video was shared by @frankie12fingers, and Frankie locks in immediately, staring up with wide eyes and his tiny mouth open, and then it starts. As you can see, Nola is a natural at this climbing thing! Mom Vanessa Marquette tells ParadePets it all began when the curious and determined Nola repeatedly escaped the yard, and they couldn't figure out how—until a neighbor saw her jump over the chain-link fence! They fixed the issue, but as a Treeing Walker Coonhound mix, Nola was bound to find a way back up.

"She really started climbing more in 2022, when we got a brand-new fence around the whole yard," Vanessa says. "She then had access to climb on the side and back fences, so she was excited to have more than one place to climb!"

In September 2022, right after a new fence was installed, Vanessa filmed Nola, and the video went viral with more than 2.7 million views on her personal TikTok. She has since created an account just for Nola's epic climbs, which more than 226k fans tune into. Mom knows it's time to grab the phone when Nola makes a run for it outside.

"She can sense if there are squirrels or anything outside she needs to check out and will typically climb every morning when she wakes, going first to the tree in the backyard, then the other side," she says. You wouldn't know by how happy she is now, but the rescue pup was once overlooked at a North Carolina kill shelter before she found her way to North Country Pet Adoptions in New York.

There, Vanessa took in the 6-month-old Nola as a foster and adopted her three months later. Nola, who's mostly blind in one eye, is an incredible reminder that rescue dogs with unique features should never be overlooked.

The Best Way to Tell Your Dog "Good Job"

Murphy says people often make training mistakes when praising their dogs, primarily by using unclear or inconsistent cues. Time and delivery also matter. If they're off, Murphy says it confuses them instead. So, it's worth getting some basic training on the best way to tell your dog "good job" so you know you're doing it right. "This prevents frustration on both sides," Murphy says. "Your dog understands what’s right, and you don’t feel like you’re repeating yourself."

So, what's the best way to tell your dog "good job," according to a trainer? Murphy says pet parents should always tell their dog "good job" using a clear marker paired with a reward. "Saying 'good job' to your pet only becomes meaningful to your dog when it consistently leads to something like treats, food, praise, release or play."

This is called a marker or clicker training, according to Murphy. "The mark/click acts as a snapshot in time, telling your dog that you like what they are doing and to do more of it. Then your dog can determine the reward based on what they like, so you'll need to tune into your pup's preferences to determine what that is.

She says this method works because it's precise and consistent. "Dogs learn fastest when feedback is immediate and easy to understand," Murphy reveals. "Clear communication and feedback help to provide your dog clarity, and so they learn when they are doing a good job. Over time, it becomes a marker of success, telling your dog, 'That’s exactly what I wanted! Good job!'"

Murphy suggests using this method when you are teaching new behaviors, or you want to reinforce good choices, such as checking in and calm behavior or you're working to build clarity and confidence.

Choose your marker

Murphy says it can be a physical clicker or a verbal marker, like the word "yes." The key is to choose something that you can use consistently.

Start in Lo-Fi settings

Murphy suggests introducing your marker in low-distraction environments to help your dog understand the pattern clearly. "If you start in areas with a lot of distractions, your dog may find something else more rewarding," Murphy points out. "You have to train them to understand that you are the most exciting thing in their world."

Follow through

The second your dog does the right thing, say the marker and follow it with a reward," Murphy advises.

Practice

Murphy encourages pet parents to practice in everyday moments rather than just during formal training sessions. "Meal times, walks or even when it’s time to go to bed are great ways to implement small training moments in your dog’s life," Murphy explains.

Murphy reports that simply saying "good" using a calm tone is highly effective once the dog knows what that word means. "We call this a duration marker," Murphy says. "You can follow this with a reward or not."

Not all dogs enjoy affection, but yours might. "But if your dog does like petting and snuggling, this can be a great bonding experience and way to let them know they are the best dog," Murphy says.

We often think of rewards as treats or praise. But Murphy shares release can be one, too. "Letting the dog move, sniff or break position can be a powerful reward," she explains. And this week, a truly rare sea creature was found off the coast of Cape Cod: the rare split-colored lobster.

Though a lobster may seem fairly run of the mill, this one really breaks the mold.

A rare, split-colored lobster was recently caught off the coast of Cape Cod in Massachusetts.

As the newscaster said, the chances of finding a split-colored lobster in the wild are 1 in 50 million!

So, how does this amazing and rare color combination occur? A genetic mutation occurs, giving the crustacean two distinct sets of genes.

Aquarium biologist Julia Studley told Popular Science, “Split colorization occurs when two fertilized, unlaid eggs contact each other, causing one to absorb the other. This creates a lobster with two sets of genetic information and the ability to store color pigments differently on either side of its shell.”

When it occurred with this rare creature, it resulted in a perfect split down the middle, orange-red and dark brown shell.

Even more interesting is that sometimes this condition can cause gynandromorphism, which is when an organism is half male and half female. 

This mutation has been seen in a bird in Columbia, as well as in some bees, butterflies, and spiders.

Why This Cape Cod Catch Is So Unusual

An official statement about this rare marine discovery from the Wellfleet Shellfish Company on this event was issued: "Split lobsters like this are extraordinarily rare—caused by unique genetic variations that create their striking half-and-half coloring. Moments like this are why we do what we do: supporting our fishing community, protecting the ocean, and sharing its wonders with everyone."

The lobster, who weighs between 3 and 5 pounds, will be donated to the Woods Hole Science Aquarium to be cared for and will eventually be on exhibit for all the public to see.

It was caught off Cape Cod on the Timothy Michael fishing vessel on April 16, 2026.

This was a truly wonderful and rare marine discovery!

Maine Coons are one of the largest domesticated cat breeds, and their paws are built to match their size and history.

Originally developed in colder climates, their large, wide paws help them move more easily across snow, almost like natural snowshoes. The extra surface area distributes their weight, making it easier to walk on softer ground without sinking.

Their paws are also covered in tufts of fur, which provide additional insulation and protection from the cold. Combined with their strong build and long bodies, those oversized paws are part of what gives Maine Coons their distinctive, almost wild appearance.

She Already Knew the House Rules

Savannah cats are part domestic cat, part African serval. They tend to run larger than most cats, and they pay close attention to what's going on around them. This one had clearly watched enough leash walks to know what the thing in her mouth was supposed to do.

The Shiba Inu is a breed that doesn't exactly take direction well. They're known to be independent, stubborn and famously difficult to train. She met a cat who had other plans.

The TikTok from @zoewitholi featured the black kitty relaxing quite comfortably on a bed with his head nestled against a pillow. The furry feline looked like he owned the place and was enjoying his daily lie-down in his house rather than a cat who made the most of an open door.

"Accidentally left my front door open and came back to see the stray cat I feed every day sleeping on my bed," the onscreen text explained.

The sweet cat was in no hurry to get up or cut his chill time short. He was completely at peace and obviously felt safe and welcome. Followers immediately noted that the cat was there to stay.
