This Great Pyrenees Left Scratch Marks All Over the Fence for the Sweetest Reason

Tue, 05/12/2026 - 8:20pm

At first glance, the scratch marks covering the top of the fence looked a little mysterious. But the explanation turned out to be much less “escape artist dog” and much more “giant fluffy romantic comedy.”

A sweet Great Pyrenees named Wednesday is currently melting hearts online because she has developed an extremely intense friendship with the handsome bearded neighbor next door, and she waits for him by the fence every day.

♬ closest to heaven - Ella Langley

TikToker @wednesdaythegreatpyr shared the adorable clip with the caption, “Wednesday has a man crush on our neighbor. She stalks him ruthlessly until he gives in and comes to the fence for hugs.”

And honestly? The second the neighbor walks over, the situation immediately makes sense.

Related: Donskoy Cat Sneaking Into Neighbor’s Apartment Looks Like a Balding Man With No Pants

The video shows the Great Pyrenees bouncing excitedly by the fence while her favorite human neighbor comes over to pet and hug her. The scratch marks along the top of the fence are apparently from her eagerly waiting there for him every day, like a giant, fluffy teenager with a crush.

People in the Comments Quickly Became Just as Obsessed With the Wholesome Neighbor Friendship as Wednesday Clearly Is:

• “I would trust that man with everything just by her reaction to him.”
• “I have a crush on your neighbor, too!”
• “Well, damn, now I have a crush on your neighbor.”
• “You can’t be posting a sweet, bearded man and not expect to cause a commotion.”
• “Is your dog allowed to have friends over?”
• “We all have a crush on your neighbor now!”

Others Pointed Out How Deeply Dogs Seem To Understand Certain People Almost Immediately:

• “That’s one of her persons.”
• “The unconditional love of a dog is unmatched.”
• “I would trust that dude with my life based [on] her trust of him.”
• “Those little jumpies. She says, ‘There’s my man.’”
• “Well, we know why now. She has great taste.”

Honestly, Wednesday’s little happy hops when she sees him approaching could probably cure seasonal depression.

And the neighbor clearly adores her, too, which somehow makes the entire thing even sweeter. This is basically a Hallmark movie told entirely through fence scratches and giant dog hugs.

Are Dogs Good Judges of Character? @yngjefe_95

I think it is a deal breaker if your dog doesnt like your significant other 😂 #jeffmorrow4 #viral #fyp

♬ original sound - Jefe

Many dog parents believe their pets are excellent judges of character because dogs are incredibly observant of human body language, tone of voice, energy, and behavioral patterns. Research suggests dogs can often recognize emotional cues and may respond differently to people based on previous experiences and social signals.

While dogs are not magical lie detectors, they do tend to form strong bonds with people who make them feel safe, calm, and loved.

And judging by Wednesday’s reaction, this neighbor appears to have been fully accepted into her inner emotional circle.

Retired Barn Cat Meets a Taxidermy Bobcat—Then Things Get Weird

Tue, 05/12/2026 - 7:55pm

Barn cats live their lives with a specific set of rules that don't necessarily apply anywhere else. Bringing one of these somewhat feral felines inside the house may come with a few challenges as they adjust to everyday "civilian" life, where things aren't as primal.

This is what a newly retired barn cat named Cookie is trying to do, but there's a catch. While she can't stand the resident Sphynx kitty who begs for Cookie's acceptance, she found a friend in, of all things, a taxidermy bobcat. This is about to get very, very weird!

@brenbates4

#cats #bobcat #barncat #funny

♬ Tchaikovsky "Dance of the Reed Flutes"(1257471) - kzy

The funny moment that @brenbates4 caught on camera shows Cookie falling head over heels for the mysterious new guy! He doesn't have to try very hard to get her attention because her barn cat instincts are going off. I'd say this is the start of a beautiful new romance!

Related: Barnyard Kitten's Sweet Friendship With Fluffy Cow Is Straight out of a Storybook

You'd think that Cookie hasn't been inside long enough to adapt to all the exciting, random objects in the house, but as far back as January 2025, the inquisitive Tabby cat has had a taste of what domestic life is like.

I guess all that time spent securing the perimeter is still a big part of her. You can take the cat out of the barn, but not the barn out of the cat!

@brenbates4

#barncats #cats #catsoftiktok

♬ My Love Mine All Mine - Mitski Why Cats Become Fascinated With Unusual Objects

We can chalk up Cookie's admiration of the taxidermy cat to her predatory instincts, but many kitties become fascinated with random things. Along with the typical kitty curiosity and her ongoing need for environmental stimulation, like she had while patrolling the property as a barn cat, if something has a certain sound, texture, or scent, it triggers her need to hunt, chase, pounce, and kill.

The sensory stimulation alone is enough for a cat to explore new, interesting objects, and they're notorious for testing cause and effect (e.g., pushing things off a counter). Whether it's because they're bored, to keep their surroundings safe from predators, or because they're a little weird, cats like Cookie couldn't pass up something like a taxidermy bobcat.

I'd be willing to guess Mr. Bobcat's particular brand of smell reminds Cookie of being outdoors. So, when she stumbles onto a quiet, handsome, excellent listener who loves to cuddle without complaint, she's going to make her move! Give them some privacy, please!

People Assume This Pittie’s Muzzle Means He’s Aggressive, but the Truth Is Much Sweeter

Tue, 05/12/2026 - 7:20pm

There’s something about seeing a dog in a muzzle that immediately makes people start building dramatic backstories in their heads. Meanwhile, sometimes the actual explanation is simply, “This idiot keeps trying to eat landscaping.”

A sweet Pit Bull named Salem is currently going viral after his family revealed the hilariously wholesome reason behind his new muzzle.

@thatdogsalem

yayyyy salems new muzzle is here!!! #dogsoftiktok #servicedog #muzzleddog #muzzletraining #gooddog

♬ original sound - Nicola & Scott 💗👀

The video was shared on TikTok by @thatdogsalem, and the clip shows Salem calmly sitting while wearing his new muzzle.

And honestly? He looks extremely polite about the entire situation.

Related: Pit Bull With Long Flowing Hair Looks Like a 1980s Rock Star and People Are Doing Double Takes

The funniest part comes after viewers notice the wording printed directly on the muzzle itself:

“I’m friendly! I eat rocks.”

Which immediately explained absolutely everything.

People in the Comments Lost It Over the Chaotic Little Confession

• “There’s probably an expensive vet bill behind that story.”
• “Is good boy, just a little weird.”
• “I love how it clarifies he’s a sweetheart but just a weirdo.”
• “The way I would be cracking up if I saw this in public.”
• “Wow. Talk about no privacy, you guys just have to tell everyone his business.”

Salem’s dog mom later confirmed there was indeed a reason for the extra precautions.

“One chipped tooth!” she replied.

Honestly, the muzzle somehow makes Salem even more lovable because you can immediately tell this isn't a dangerous dog situation. This is a “sweet giant baby with absolutely no survival instincts” situation.

Other commenters also appreciated the reminder that muzzles aren't automatically a sign of aggression.

• “Not gonna lie, whenever I see a muzzled dog in public, I always assume it's for the dog's safety, not my safety, LMAO.”
• “Love the add-on. We need to work on understanding that muzzles have a variety of reasons.”

And honestly, that conversation might be one of the best things to come out of the video.

Reasons Why a Dog May Wear a Muzzle Border Collie in a muzzle.

Image via Shutterstock/Reshetnikov_art

Dogs may wear muzzles for many reasons that have nothing to do with aggression. In fact, properly trained muzzle use can often help keep dogs safer and less stressed in certain situations.

Some Common Reasons Include:

• Preventing dogs from eating dangerous objects
• Veterinary visits or medical recovery
• Grooming appointments
• Anxiety in crowded environments
• Preventing scavenging on walks
• Training or behavioral support
• Safety during emergencies or injuries

Many trainers also emphasize that muzzle training should be introduced positively so that pups feel comfortable and confident while wearing them.

And in Salem’s case, it may simply be protecting one extremely sweet dog from his own deeply questionable snack choices.

Chocolate Lab Declares War on Dad’s Crocs—and His Guilty Face Says Everything

Tue, 05/12/2026 - 6:42pm

Oh, Jackie. Even though your name is perfection, your defense needs work.

A handsome Chocolate Lab named Jackie is suspect numero uno in the case of his dad's chewed-up Croc (and the disappearance of the other), and he clearly knows it. As Jackie's human questions him about the evidence, the guilty-looking pup feigns sleep and refuses to make eye contact as if the entire situation will go away if he can’t see it. It's an ineffective strategy, but a hilarious one at that.

@seb_aubrey

Someone had a fight with my crocks😂🐶🤎 #fyp #foryou #foryoupage #fyppppppppppppppppppppppp #labrador

♬ original sound - seb_aubrey

My favorite part is how Jackie can't resist sneaking a peek here and there while maintaining his innocence throughout the inquisition. It seems that viewers are obsessed with Jackie's reaction as well.

"Jackie is not available right now," explains one of his advocates.

"Jackie isn’t speaking until the attorney arrives," adds another.

"Pretty sure he’s invisible when his eyes are closed," jokes a third.

While the verdict might not go as Jackie hopes, the jury is certainly unanimous in its support for this dog.

Related: Golden Retriever Puppy Sees First Sunrise and Realizes How Big the World Is

Do Dogs Actually Feel Guilty?

Despite Jackie's dramatic, sheepish reaction, is he actually experiencing guilt? Maybe not, according to an article in the Scientific American. Despite how convincing those expressions can look, experts say dogs may not actually experience guilt the same way humans do. Research suggests the classic guilty face—avoiding eye contact, lowering the head, pinning ears back, or looking nervous—is more likely a response to their human’s tone or body language than true remorse. In other words, dogs are often reacting to the fact that they know you’re upset, not necessarily because they understand they committed a crime against your Crocs.

Experts also say that “dog shaming” may do more harm than good. What people interpret as a guilty expression is often more likely to be anxiety, stress, or fear in response to its human being upset. In many cases, dogs don’t actually understand why they’re being scolded—especially if the reaction comes long after the incident happened.

Behavior issues like destructive chewing or accidents in the house can also sometimes point to boredom, stress, anxiety, or even an underlying medical issue rather than intentional “bad” behavior. Because of that, many experts recommend focusing more on training, redirection, and positive reinforcement instead of punishment after the fact.

At the end of the day, most dogs simply want to keep their humans happy. And while Jackie’s dramatic face may look undeniably guilty, chances are he’s reacting more to Dad’s disappointment than feeling true remorse.

Bulldog Realizes Mom Is Talking to the Vet — and Her Dramatic Reaction Is Too Funny

Tue, 05/12/2026 - 6:10pm

Both of my dogs dread going to the vet. The second they catch sight of the parking lot, they get nervous. My Dachshund starts shaking, and my Pug mix refuses to go inside by planting his ample tush on the ground. Needless to say, I'm glad we usually only go for their yearly appointment.

Pancake the Bulldog seems to have the same aversion to anything veterinary-related. She heard her mom on the phone with the office and the look on her face spoke volumes.

@thebabypancake

Pancake said “reschedule without me” #englishbulldog #funnydog #cutedog #dogsoftiktok

♬ Awkward Moments - AstroMusic

In the TikTok from @thebabypancake, the Bulldog beauty's mom had the vet's office on speaker phone. The conversation seemed to involve collecting some sort of sample from Pancake. The curious canine was on the couch listening to the dialogue, where she slowly pieced together who was on the other end of the phone.

"The moment Pancake realized we were calling the vet," the onscreen text read, with the caption adding, "Pancake said, 'Reschedule without me'."

No words from Pancake were needed. Her expression clearly showed fear mixed with revulsion, putting her distaste for the vet on full display. The fur baby finally couldn't listen any longer and jumped off the couch in protest.

Followers got a kick out of Pancake's reaction and felt she was justified in her response.

"Waffles the Bulldog just posted, 'Go hype up the post for love and support with Pancake'," one joked.

"How do they know something is up, but they sure do! Crazy. Oh no Pancake!" another commented.

"Pancake said, 'I gotta dip, goodbye now'," a follower posted.

"She said, 'Immediately no',” someone shared.

Why Dogs Don't Like the Vet

Many dogs experience anxiety during a vet visit. Their nervousness can begin on the ride over, almost like they sense where they're headed.

Past traumatic experiences can cause this fear. If your dog had to endure a previous painful or invasive procedure at a vet's office, returning to that location can bring it all back.

Related: Bulldog's Puppies Invade Her 'Me' Time and We Can Relate

Being around other nervous dogs in the waiting room can also raise your pooch's anxiety. Add to that the sights and smells of a doctor's office that may be foreign to your dog or recall negative memories, and it's easy to understand why they get scared.

Some ways to help your dog relax include calm reassurance, positive reinforcement through treats, and booking appointments during quiet, less busy times with your vet.

Pancake's reaction was very common and completely understandable. Hopefully her mom was able to smooth things over after the call.

One-of-a-Kind Purple Hummingbird Is an Actual Glitch in the Matrix

Tue, 05/12/2026 - 6:00pm

Hummingbirds are out in full force, now, and there are so many different kinds to try and spot. Some will be cooler than others, but some will also be much easier than others. I'd be grateful to have any hummingbird sightings at all!

This Hummingbird caught everyone by surprise. When he showed up at the feeder, he looked like he was purple, only for him to reveal the coolest built-in little trick:

@flockaroundfindout

Actually, this is a total glitch in the matrix! My hummingbird is pulling a “chameleon” move because of this purple feeder. Because their feathers are so reflective (iridescent!), they can actually pick up and "bounce" the color of nearby objects. #HummingbirdTok #BirdWatching #NatureGlitch #PurpleFeeder #BackyardScience

♬ Broken Window Serenade - Isaiah Sheffield

Flock Around and Find Out is no stranger to Hummingbirds in her yard. She has a few different feeders, and lots of flowers that might help attract them, too. While they love seeing all of the birds, this one is the best!

When he gets to the feeder, he legitimately looks like he's almost entirely purple. That's not what's going on, though: he's basically turned into a little Chameleon. His feathers are so iridescent and shiny that they're reflecting the color of the Hummingbird feeder.

Related: Rare Hot Pink Hummingbird Is Pure Fairy-Tale Magic

This Hummingbird feeder is a true hit with all of the neighborhood birds, and not just the cool "purple" ones. She has a camera pointed at it at all times, so she can see all of the awesome birds who come and go:

@flockaroundfindout

The Ruby-throated hummingbird’s signature hum comes from its wings beating at an incredible 50 to 80 times per second. And that squeaky chirp you hear—often described as a "chee-dit"—is usually used while they are chasing each other or defending a feeder. I’ve seen another bird flying around so it looks like we have some competition. #birdsoftiktok #hummingbird #birdwatching #birdnerd #HummingbirdTok

♬ original sound - FlockAroundandFindOut

This one actually features the Ruby-Throated Hummingbird, which has a slightly less-reflective ruby-red throat. What is it with Hummingbirds and being such incredible colors?!

Hummingbird Feathers Are Shiny

This Hummingbird appearing to be purple is purely a result of his super shiny feathers! You can see in the video that as he gets farther away from the feeder, his gorget turns darker, almost black.

A Hummingbird with a purple throat.

Image via Shutterstock / Element allqulity Designe

There is a special, pancake-like prismatic structure in all Hummingbird feathers that makes them shimmery and iridescent like this, though males are often more vibrant. Having shiny feathers helps them when it comes to mating, and they often flash their colors when defending their territories, too.

If you put out feeders of all different colors, you could actually watch their colors change as they went down the line. How cool is that?!

This Boykin Spaniel Teaches Baby Asher to Roll Over in Adorable Viral Video

Tue, 05/12/2026 - 2:43pm

Sibling bonds run deep, even when those siblings are of the human and dog variety. A clever Boykin Spaniel is taking the internet by storm thanks to a recently posted viral video that shows the precocious dog trying to help his human baby brother tackle a major developmental milestone — rolling over. The dog’s skills are impressive, showcasing this breed’s intelligence and ability to emulate human behavior.

@annmariesmith_

In the video shared to social media, baby Asher can be seen enjoying — or at least enduring — his daily tummy time session. Parents of young babies know that tummy time can be stress-inducing as babies take on the necessary challenges needed to strengthen their necks and eventually roll over, a major milestone in every baby’s life.

That’s where the family dog, a gorgeous Boykin Spaniel, locks in and goes into full older sibling mode. Watching and encouraging his human baby brother isn’t enough for this dog. Instead, the precious pup shows off his rolling-over skills in an attempt to teach baby Asher how to do the same.

♬ Your dogs best friend - fraze

This is not only a loving example of the breed’s intelligence, but it’s also indicative of the Spaniel’s ability to emulate and tune into human behavior. Down to daily routines, Spaniels can often mimic their humans’ physical and emotional behaviors.

In this case, the dog does more than mimic behavior — he’s trying to teach his baby brother what to do. Asher may not be ready to roll over just yet, but his remarkable teacher is making growing up much more fun.

Nearly 75,000 viewers have liked the video on social media, and more than 15,000 have shared it. Comments range from followers calling the moment “the cutest thing ever” to others sharing what they imagine the baby or dog might be thinking.

Spaniels may have a reputation for being “Velcro dogs” who never want to leave their humans’ side, but they’re also loving companions known for understanding human emotions, intent, and even helping babies practice their newest skills.

Rescue Staffy Gets Worried When Her Humans Go in the Pool—And It’s So Sweet

Tue, 05/12/2026 - 2:00pm

Pool season is almost here. It's only in the 60s where I am, so I wouldn't even dream of getting in a pool right now, but the time is coming! For some, it's already here, and they're living their best lives.

For one family, living their best lives apparently means driving their sweet Staffy crazy. They love getting in the pool, but every time they do, she loses her marbles. In a past life, I'm pretty sure she was a lifeguard:

@lilinkwell

She said it was NO 15 minutes ago & its NO NOW!!! #staffy #dog #rescue #law #pool

♬ original sound - THAT1NEP0ET

Moro the Staffy is so sweet. She's a rescue, and she's been in her forever home for about 2.5 years now! She was an abused, abandoned breeding dog, and her previous home had clipped her ears, too. All signs pointed to her being traumatized, aggressive, and difficult.

That's just not the case. She's as sweet as can be, and she loves everyone. The only time she even really raises her voice is when she hears her favorite humans getting in the pool! She doesn't like it, okay? She just wants everyone to be safe!

Related: Rescue German Shepherd ‘Rates Dad’s Pets’ and Shows No Mercy

If there's one human she especially doesn't want getting in the pool, it's her daddy. He's her favorite, mostly because he gives the best belly rubs:

He'd better stay away from that pool entirely. Honestly, maybe he should stay away from all water sources, just to be safe. That's definitely the way Moro would like it!

Staffies Are Natural Protectors

Staffordshire Terriers are some of the most underrated, overhated dogs in the world. It's unfortunately common for breeds like these: people see pups with big, blocky heads and huge mouths and assume the worst.

Staffordshire Terriers are strong-willed, independent dogs. However, they also love their people: if you want one, you need to be prepared for some antics! These dogs often:

  • Whine.
  • Yell.
  • Cry.
  • Sit on you.
  • Firmly tell you what to do.

They don't know personal space in any way, and if someone comes at you too fast... Good luck! They'll do anything they have to in order to protect the people they love!

Bull Terrier Missed His ‘Blankie’ So Much, He Climbed in the Dryer to Snuggle It

Tue, 05/12/2026 - 12:00pm

It's not uncommon for dogs to have a favorite thing. What they choose is going to depend on lots of factors; one rescue dog, for example, chose a bucket because it was the only toy he's ever had. However, for a lot of dogs, it's either a blanket or a toy.

One Bull Terrier definitely chose a blanket. It's his favorite thing in the entire world, but unfortunately, it needs to be clean. His mom ran it through the washer and dryer... But he was not having it, and ended up deciding that desperate times call for desperate measures:

@kabukis.world

The nose tuck got me🥰

♬ Heart and Soul - Theme from "Big" - Simplylove

Kabuki's World apparently revolves entirely around that blanket, as it should. This looks like it was an entire load of his things in the washer, since there's a toy in there as well! After the dryer had run, he hopped right in to snuggle his best blankie friend!

It was nice and warm, which only made it more enticing. He jumped right in and tucked his nose in, completely unaware that what he was doing was absolutely wild. All he cared about was getting his blanket back.

Related: Sweet Bull Terrier With ‘Broken Heart Nose’ Has the Best Transformation

Kabuki needs his blanket to relax. Every day, he spends all day causing chaos and trying to make everything as crazy as possible. Luckily, with so many siblings, it's not hard at all:

@kabukis.world

647 am and the #crazytrain has already left the station….

He's either hopping in the dryer or running around outside. Those options seem so tiring, but I know their mom just adores all of her furry friends. Chaos and all!

Keeping Pets Safe In the Laundry Room

Dryers are warm, and washers make lots of funny noises. These machines can be very enticing to lots of pets, not just dogs, but they can also be incredibly dangerous. Safety practices are vital.

A Golden Retriever by laundry machines.

Image via Shutterstock / 135pixels

Ideally, you should put a gate up in your laundry room or keep the door shut to keep curious animals at bay. However, that's not always an option, and a willful pet will find a way! Before you shut and turn on the laundry machines, you should:

  • Do a headcount and make sure everybody is accounted for.
  • Bang your hands on the machines to hopefully make enough noise to rouse them if they're in the mix.
  • Put clothes/blankets in one at a time so you can make sure no one is hiding in them.

It's better to be safe than sorry. Luckily, Kabuki is a little too big to go unnoticed, even when he's wrapped up in his blankie!

Cat Refuses to Make the Leap Until Dad Pulls Out His Secret Technique

Tue, 05/12/2026 - 11:48am

Every cat parent knows the sound. We use it for almost anything cat-related: psst, psst, psst. It's the sound of encouragement, but also serves as a negotiation tactic with your feline friend. And sometimes, it is the full emotional support system for a nervous cat.

In a YouTube video from the channel Hope and Trunks, we see a man using this exact tactic to convince his hesitant cat, Trunks, to jump from a chair into his arms.

🐶SIGN UP to get "pawsitivity" delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾🐾

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/N7FIOm3oVfo

He holds out his arms patiently, gently encouraging his cat as he says, "Psst, psst!" And as he writes in the video's caption, sometimes, all cats need is a little psst, psst persuasion

Cats Do Not Always Trust Things They Cannot Measure

Cats are extremely cautious, which is an instinct they inherited from their days in the wild. In the wild, cats are both predators and prey. They are naturally suspicious and carefully observe new environments, sounds and people. They need time before they can relax.

Unlike dogs, they calculate before they act. Dogs leap first and think later, while cats prefer to calculate the outcome before committing to movement.

From a cat's perspective, your arms are unpredictable. If you shift slightly, your balance will change, and while you smell familiar, you are not a stable countertop.

How to Teach Your Cat to Jump Into Your Arms

Training a cat to jump to you is not just a party trick; it is an exercise in trust. Start with a high-value treat as a lure, and place your arm or lap just a few inches away from where your cat is sitting.

Be consistent with your verbal cue, whether it is a whistle, a click, or the classic "psst, psst" as in this case. When your cat makes the jump, reward them immediately.

Never force the movement. Cats are calculating creatures. They will calculate the risk in their head before trying to make the jump. They need to feel the stability of your arms before they commit to anything else.

As your cat gets comfortable, slowly increase the distance. Eventually, you can replace the treat lure with the emotional reward of a snuggle.

Building Your Cat's Confidence

We have to applaud the cat parent in the video and his patience. He never forces Trunks to do anything. He doesn't grab or rush. He lets the cat make her own mind up.

When building confidence, always start low to the ground. Sit on the floor or kneel nearby and encourage your cat to step or hop short distances first.

Timing also matters. Cats are more likely to participate during playful moments rather than when they are sleepy. Sometimes, all they need is encouragement for the same reason people do. They know they are capable of doing something. But a little more of psst, psst persuasion will take them higher.

Great Danes Lounging by the Pool Look Just Like Walruses

Tue, 05/12/2026 - 11:00am

Great Danes will never cease to amaze me. For some reason, the universe decided we needed dogs the size of small horses, and the universe was absolutely right. Great Danes are excellent workers, but they're also amazing companions. They're the kind of dog that everyone admires, even if they're intimidating.

Just look at these Great Danes: they're huge, and they recently decided that they wanted to take over their mom's pool. When they did, they literally looked like a couple of walruses sitting by the sea:

The Euro Dane Bros are so lucky. This house is not only right on the water: it also has a pool! These two sunbathing waruses... I mean, dogs... Have so much space to swim and work on their tan. They're amazing, and I bet their neighbors have a blast watching them!

I hope their mom is ready, though, because I bet the neighbors are going to be coming over and asking to meet them. Whenever I see a big dog like this, I know I can't help myself! I would love to have one, but I let my dogs sleep in bed with me, and I don't know if I could handle a horse in there.

The two pups are Asa and Tiny Tim, and they serve very different purposes in their home. While Tiny Tim is more of a lounger all the time, Asa is a protector. When joggers come by, he makes sure they know not to mess with his family... And that he has a really cool fish:

@eurodanebros

Good job Asa and fish 👏#dogsoftiktok #greatdane #dogtok #cuteanimals #petsoftiktok

♬ Clumsy Tunes - Eitan Epstein Music

The fish is also a security guard. After all, there's safety in numbers! If Tiny Tim won't help, Asa's fish is going to step in!

Are Great Danes Good Swimmers?

You might notice that Asa and Tiny Tim like to lounge around the water... But they never actually get in the water. They will on occasion, but they definitely prefer to lounge around out by the water instead. Same, boys!

Great Dane looking out at the ocean.

Great Danes definitely can swim, and some might even enjoy it. For the most part, though, they usually don't like it, and it doesn't come naturally to them, meaning they'll likely need lessons. Great Danes typically don't like swimming because:

  • It's cold, which is uncomfortable and can exacerbate their aching joints.
  • They're heavy, so it can be hard to stay above water.
  • They're an awkward shape and have long legs, which can make it hard to kick.

You can give it a try, but don't be surprised if they prefer to go "walrus mode" by the side instead. It looks like a lot of fun!

Creator Shares Their Night Routine With Two Pet Skunks—and the Internet Had a Surprising Response

Tue, 05/12/2026 - 10:55am

This creator shared their night routine as a parent of two skunks, Skank and Echo. In the video, they emphasized the importance of providing their pets with balanced meals, especially those designed for skunks and exotic pets. The creator also shared some enrichment activities they do with their pets, as well as the skunks' feeding routines. The internet had a very surprising response to this video. After all, it's not every day that you see domesticated skunks.

In the video, the creator behind the YouTube channel skunkguide starts by preparing Skank and Echo's dinner, which includes a variety of items. The first step is skunk kibble, followed by sliced celery to help the skunks with their water intake, sliced carrot, and a spoonful of cottage cheese.

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/h9t0w9WJztU

Skank and Echo's parent then adds a taurine supplement, a naturally occurring sulfur-containing amino acid that helps the skunks avoid seizures and supports muscle formation. The final step is calcium, for bone growth and to prevent bone diseases in skunks.

The creator then feeds each skunk in separate rooms to avoid fights. Skank, an adorable skunk with a pink, purple-ish tail, seems more than happy with her bowl, and the same can be said for Echo. Even the creator's other pet, a cat, seemed to be very interested in the skunks' meal. This means it probably was very yummy, and most importantly, nutritious and healthy.

Skank and Echo then participate in an enrichment activity: scatter feeding. Skank and Echo's parent spreads additional food around, and the goal is for the skunks to use their sense of smell to locate it. This activity can be beneficial to pets' mental and physical health.

Being a Parent to Exotic Animals

A pet skunk isn't for everybody. In fact, in some regions, it's illegal. In the United States, just nine states—Florida, Indiana, Michigan, New Jersey, New Mexico, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon and Wisconsin—allow people to have skunks as pets, but require a permit or formal approval.

When you have a skunk as a pet, or any exotic animal, it's important to pay attention to their unique needs as the creator does in the video. Different animals require specific nutrients in their diets and enrichment. If you want an exotic pet, it's important to research them thoroughly. If you have other pets, it's very important to understand whether your exotic pet will get along with other animals.

In the video, the skunks are adorable—and the internet thought so, too. "The internet is capable of making any animal the most adorable animal in the world. I challenge someone to prove me wrong," a user commented. "They're so adorable! I wish pet skunks were legal in Ontario," someone else wrote.

Others were a bit skeptical. "That's enough internet for today," the comment stated. Having an exotic pet isn't everybody's cup of tea, but if done correctly, with the proper permits, formal approvals, and research, it can be a positive experience.

Gandalf the Cat Pushes Her Luck With a Jump That Goes Hilariously Wrong

Tue, 05/12/2026 - 10:48am

Cats have a way of making impossible jumps look effortless. Just pay attention as they are preparing to make a massive leap. They wiggle their haunches, check the distance, and then they make the jump.

In most cases, that is a successful jump. But sometimes, they fail to understand the distance between their safe spot and the finish line.

🐶SIGN UP to get "pawsitivity" delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾🐾

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/DD0aWfAmH74

Gandalf, a confident little cat who has attempted many leaps in her life, is the new star on YouTube—but not because of her successful jump. Instead, he has people cheering for her after her failed attempt.

The brave feline attempted a leap from a table to a drawer, with all the swagger of an Olympic athlete. And for one split second, it looked like she would make it. But then, gravity hit her in the head.

Cats Are Incredible Jumpers

Healthy adult cats can jump about five to six times their body length. Athletic cats can push that distance even further.

Thanks to their powerful back legs and flexible spines, cats are built for explosive movement. Sometimes, however, even the most talented jumpers miscalculate. The surface can be slippery, or the distance can be slightly too far. And sometimes, they overestimate themselves the same way humans do when we think we can carry all the grocery bags in one trip.

The Jump and the Fall

Gandalf is one of three cats in the household. Her human mom found Natilla in a Costa Rican parking lot. Seeing that she is pregnant, they brought her home. Gandalf and Dave are two of her babies.

In the video, Gandalf's mom explained that the feline recently jumped from a chair back. So, she wanted to push her luck even further.

Gandalf's mom tries to prevent her from jumping, saying, "That is too far," in the video. Nevertheless, Gandalf tries to make the jump and falls short.

Why Do Cats Love Testing Their Limits

Cats are natural climbers and explorers. Jumping is part exercise, part instinct, and part curiosity. Indoor cats especially tend to turn furniture into obstacle courses. One minute, they're sleeping in a sunbeam. Next, they're trying parkour off your bookshelf at 2 a.m. Commenters on the post found the jump funny.

One commenter wrote, "That was an amazing backflip right into the 'it never happened' landing stance."

Another joked about Gandalf's math, saying, "the risk I took were calculated, but man I am bad at math."

How to Help Your Cat Make the Jump

While Gandalf failed this jump, she might make the next one. And you can help your cat improve its vertical game.

Encourage play with wand toys that move upward to tell your cat to use the fast-twitch muscles. You can also provide cat highways or tiered shelving to help your cat build the confidence to jump farther and higher.

Gandalf may not have stuck the landing, but she absolutely succeeded at something else: reminding cat owners everywhere that confidence and coordination are not always the same thing.

This Sweet Pit Bull Mix Has Spent Almost 500 Days Waiting for Someone to Choose Him

Tue, 05/12/2026 - 10:10am

Some dogs in shelters end up waiting longer for adoption than others. Whether it's due to age, size, health issues, or breed preference, these canines spend a painful amount of time hoping for a forever home.

Ute the Pit Bull mix has been at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter for over a year and just needs someone to give him a chance.

"Every day, he watches doors open for other dogs, watches them leave, watches them finally become somebody's. And then there's Ute. Still here."

The 5-year-old canine cutie is described in his bio as sweet, independent, and best-suited as the only pet in a calm home with kids over 17 years old so he can feel safe.

‘Itty-Bitty’ Calico Kitten Looks Like a Pebble Next to Big Brother

Tue, 05/12/2026 - 10:00am

Kittens aren't tiny for very long, so it's important to soak up all the cuteness while you can. It can be hard sometimes, though, especially when there are other cats in the home. You might be worried that something will go wrong, but it's important to relax, too: exploring is how cats learn.

Next to her big brother (who's still a kitten himself), one Calico kitten looks like a tiny pebble. If I found this pebble on the road, I would definitely be scooping it up and putting it in my pocket:

@natsonthego

my babies 🙂‍↕️ #kittens #fosterfail #cute #baby #cat

♬ awww so cute - Cherri ⁉️

Nat's On The Go a lot, but she never stays away from her babies for very long. This is the first video she's posted of these sweeties, but according to the hashtags, they were foster fails. It's unclear whether they were part of the same litter or not, but I hope so.

I would estimate that this kitten is roughly 2 Chick-Fil-A sauces long (which is not very long at all). She's a rescue and definitely very young, so she might even be younger than 8 weeks, or a little behind on the growth charts. She'll grow up eventually, but it's so cute right now!

Related: Golden Retriever Gets Trapped in ‘Nap Jail’ by the Fluffiest Ragdoll Kittens

These two are new to their forever home, but they're not alone there. They also have a German Shepherd sibling, and next to her, I know they both look tiny! He's adorable, too:

@natsonthego

safe to say he enjoyed his very first beach trip 🥲 if you’re bringing a dog to a beach that specifically requires them to be on a leash… follow the rules! especially if your dog has no manners🫤 #fyp #socal #puppy #beach #sand

♬ Banana Pancakes - Acoustic Heartstrings

His feline sibling probably won't be joining him on beach trips anytime soon, though. The Calico will blend in with the sand and the rocks, and we'll never see her again! It's best for her to stay safe and sound at home.

Do Cats and Kittens Get Along?

When you have two pets with such a size difference, it's natural to get a little bit nervous. One wrong move and things go terribly wrong for the little guy, right? Nobody wants that!

Kitten playing with a cat's tail.

Cats and kittens (or two kittens with a big size difference) can definitely get along. They'll play together, and you'll often find the little one trying to curl up with the bigger one. Being little means it's harder to keep warm. However, to keep everyone safe, you should still:

  • Supervise play time.
  • Make sure to feed them in separate areas.
  • Introduce them slowly at first to make sure they don't attack each other.

Luckily, these two kittens love each other. I hope they both live happily ever after here in their forever home!

This Golden Retriever Secretly Swam Into the Neighbor’s Pool for One Hilarious Reason

Tue, 05/12/2026 - 9:55am

Some dogs escape the yard to chase squirrels. Some go on mysterious neighborhood adventures. And apparently, some quietly sneak into the neighbor’s swimming pool specifically to enjoy the bubbles like they’re visiting a luxury spa resort.

A Golden Retriever named Wynn is currently making the internet laugh after her family revealed the extremely specific reason she broke into the neighbor’s pool.

@wynn_thegolden

When your neighbors get woken up by your dog swimming in their pool #wynngirl #goldenretriever #dogsoftiktok #dog

♬ original sound - Wynn The Golden

TikTok user @wynn_thegolden shared the hilarious clip alongside the caption, “POV: Your neighbors text saying they woke up to your dog blowing bubbles in their pool, and they fed her breakfast.”

Honestly? That may be the best possible text message a person could wake up to.

Related: Mom’s Black Leggings Show the Reality of Living With a Golden Retriever

The video shows Wynn happily paddling around the pool, while sticking her face near the jets and blowing bubbles like a giant furry toddler who accidentally discovered true happiness.

And somehow the entire situation becomes even funnier knowing the neighbors apparently just accepted this immediately and decided breakfast service was now included.

People in the Comments Were Absolutely Obsessed With Wynn’s Priorities:

• “What a great morning your neighbors had.”
• “She said, ‘Turn the jets on, you know, the thing that does this,’ blows bubbles.”
• “She could blow bubbles in my pool anytime!!”
• “It’s so nice of your neighbors to have a pool for your doggo.”
• “Just a girl, living her best life. She said, ‘Look! Bubbles!’”
• “She blessed them, she is a cutie.”
• “World’s greatest neighbors.”

Honestly, Wynn has the exact energy of someone who accidentally discovered a luxury resort and immediately decided she belonged there permanently.

And the fact that the neighbors not only tolerated this but fed her breakfast afterward really says everything about how impossible Golden Retrievers are to resist.

How To Keep Your Dog Safe Around a Pool @ollie.bear.the.golden

Swimming is always a YES 😅 #goldenretrieverlife #goldenretrievers #dogsoftiktok #adoptdontshop #waterdog

♬ original sound - _TotahlyCook’n_

While many dogs love swimming, pools can still pose safety risks if pets are unsupervised or unfamiliar with the water. Pet parents can help keep dogs safer around pools by introducing swimming gradually and teaching their pups how they can safely exit pools using stairs or ramps.

Other Important Pool Safety Tips Include:

• Always supervise dogs around water.
• Teach dogs where pool exits are located.
• Use pet life jackets for inexperienced swimmers.
• Rinse chlorine off fur after swimming.
• Keep fresh drinking water nearby.
• Never assume all dogs naturally know how to swim

And if your pup becomes emotionally attached to pool jets like Wynn apparently has, you may also need very understanding neighbors.

Terrified Stray Dog Picked One Family’s Windowsill for the Sweetest Reason

Tue, 05/12/2026 - 9:20am

I'm a firm believer that dogs choose their people and not the other way around. In times of need, they know exactly who to go to for help, and we don't get a say in the matter. It's written in the stars.

One scared and scruffy stray dog recently took shelter on the windowsill of a young family's home. He was too timid and fearful to let them get close, so they watched the sweet pup through their window and accidentally fell in love. What happened next is nothing short of an incredible example of what a little love can do.

View this post on Instagram

Fitness influencer Jordan Syatt, his wife, and their two young girls fell head over heels for the little guy through the window. They left food, water, and a cozy bed for the rescue pup—whom they named Chewy—and he began to let his guard down.

A couple of days later, Chewy trusted them enough to go inside, take him to the vet, and gradually incorporate him into their everyday lives.

With no microchip and no one looking for the precious boy, Chewy became an official member of the family, where he gets endless walks, playtime with his human siblings and Golden Retriever brother Curtis, and most of all, love. It's evident in his very first grooming session that left him looking like a whole other dog!

Related: Stray Dog Living in Abandoned Warehouse Gives Rescuer the Sweetest 'Thank You'

Chewy's first haircut left everyone stunned. The once-matted, scruffy, defeated dog looks entirely different after having the layers of his past shed. Based on his smile alone, it's like he knew finding this family would be his answer—one final hope for a happy ending—and thank goodness, he got it.

How Dogs Choose Their People

Stray dogs who suddenly appear on your windowsill aren't there by chance. At least, that's not what I believe. They gravitate toward certain people based on a combination of the pups feeling safe, wanting to trust, and having a positive feeling or connection to calm energy.

Stray pups who are tired of surviving on their own seek out low-stress interactions that might include food, water, and a bed, just like Chewy received.

His story reminds me of Pluto, the Cocker Spaniel, who walked up to a gym and chose his new mom. Whether you believe in fate or not, it's an amazing responsibility to be chosen by a dog in need. You have the power to change their life.

@pluto_orbits_earth

Our fur babies bring us so much joy. #love #rescuedog #dog #dogsoftiktok #thankful

I'm beyond happy that Chewy (and Pluto) knew which humans might help them. Even more so, that those people stepped up to the plate and gave those little sweeties the happy endings they deserve.

German Shepherd Mama Protects Her Newborn Pups Like a Guardian Angel

Tue, 05/12/2026 - 9:00am

If there's one thing the world needs to know about dogs with puppies, it's that she does not play about her babies. Dogs who have always been sweet as pie and easy to work with will absolutely try to take down anyone who gets too close without her permission, and I love that!

One German Shepherd mom recently had to show that she meant business, and she wasted no time. The one who got a little too close didn't do it on purpose (or at least, they weren't trying to upset her), and her reaction was extreme, immediate, and a little bit awesome:

@jassera.nichole

Talk about a protective mother 🙄 omg but i miss having puppies 🥹 #fyp

♬ original sound - 𝑱𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒂 𝑵𝒊𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒆♡

Jassera Nichole is no stranger to raising puppies, but Nikki the German Shepherd really took things to a whole new level. She was not willing to let the other GSD, Rolie, near those pups. He's their father, too! She couldn't care less. Those are her babies, and no one else should be touching them!

They were still very young at that point: they're still in their whelping box/puppy pen. This video is a little bit of a throwback: now they're grown up, some of them have moved onto their forever homes, and they are allowed to have others within a 50-foot radius. Even dad!

Related: Rescue German Shepherd ‘Rates Dad’s Pets’ and Shows No Mercy

Their dad, Rolie, was just curious about them. Raising puppies is definitely not a team effort: Dad is not expected to do anything or help in any way. Now that they're older, though, he's helping them learn to play:

@jassera.nichole

Everyone meet Father of the year ✨Rolie ✨ #fyp #foryoupage #germanshepherd

♬ original sound - user85614039913

This is so sweet, and exactly what the father of a litter is meant for. He has to teach them how to play and annoy their mom! Rolie is doing a fantastic job.

German Shepherds Are Protective of Their Puppies

If you have a German Shepherd, whether she has puppies or not, you'll know that these dogs are extremely protective. They won't let anything threaten their loved ones. If it's their babies they're protecting, it's even scarier.

German Shepherd snapping at the camera.

When a German Shepherd has puppies, you need to proceed with caution. In order to avoid a biting incident or just generally freaking them out, make sure you:

  • Keep mama and her puppies in a quiet, low-traffic area.
  • Offer her the chance to take a break and get out, but never force her to leave them.
  • Approach their whelping box or pen slowly and calmly.
  • If she looks uncomfortable or snaps, try again later.

You should avoid causing her unnecessary stress at all costs. Just ride it out: it'll only be a few months before she starts letting them venture out! Nikki the GSD even lets her baby daddy play with them now!
