Sitting with his mama on the couch, he cuddles up into her arms, and you can see him very slowly and gently moving to rest his head on his mom. He's adorable in general, but seeing his eyes look like they're smiling while he's drifting off to sleep, you can tell he knows how loved he is. The clip shows three different times Franklin cuddled up on his human in the same way, and how his cute head flops down, and it's just so precious.

Franklin is such a sweet doggy, and you can tell how much he loves his mama, which makes total sense given how he peacefully drifted off to sleep.

According to MyWoof, dogs are pack animals, and they like to be in groups to feel bonded and safe. In the wild, like wolves, dogs sleep together for safety and comfort, so when a pup stays close to their favorite person during naps or sleep, that's them saying how much they trust and love that person.

This can be especially true if your dog is feeling anxious or stressed, or if they're not feeling well, because dogs feel better with their humans around. 

Of course, if your pooch doesn't sleep next to you and they prefer to sleep by themselves, that doesn't mean they don't trust or love you. Some dogs, like people, just sleep better in a different setup, and that's OK, too.

In the TikTok from @sharing.lov3, Raven was in a car, clearly enjoying her first taste of freedom after finally being chosen.

"POV You are the shelter's longest resident dog and you just got adopted," the onscreen text read as Raven stuck her head out the car window and joyfully felt the wind on her face.

The video shared how Raven previously tried her best to make herself noticeable to potential adopters, but to no avail.

"For 3 months, Raven jumped in her kennel," the story continued as Raven literally hopped in the air from her small kennel run in the hopes of being seen. "Every day she begged for someone to choose her. But little does she know that the day has finally arrived."

The pretty Pittie had a meet-and-greet scheduled with potential adopters who came quite a distance for the face-to-face introduction.

"Someone just drove 3 hours to come and meet her," the text revealed, with clips of Raven getting to know her potential new mom and canine sibling. The friendly fur baby immediately won them over and they adopted her on the spot.

Raven made quite an impression on her new pet parents when they first saw her online. They immediately knew she had to become a part of their family.

Though the backseat of the car was already set up with blankets for Raven to have a cozy ride home, the canine cutie opted to sit right up front in her mom's arms with her head out the window.

Beagles are one of those breeds who always look like they are about 5 seconds away from either solving a mystery or stealing your sandwich. They have those soft little faces, those giant emotional eyes, and an almost unfair ability to make every new experience look enormous. In a Reddit post on r/cats, his mom shared a few pictures. The first pictures are from his early days, fragile and uncertain, sitting in a shelter. Five years later, the same cat looks like he owns the couch, the blankets, and the entire house.

KitKat's transformation hit people hard. They loved it and had plenty of jokes about it.

Cat flu can be a dangerous and devastating disease for young cats. Viruses such as feline herpesvirus and calicivirus can cause upper respiratory infections in cats. The symptoms begin with sneezing, runny eyes, mouth ulcers, and difficulty eating.

For young kittens, the disease can be harmful because they dehydrate quickly and struggle to breathe.

In some severe cases, kitten flu can permanently damage the eyes, mouth, teeth and nasal passages. Luckily, KitKat didn't experience any of those.

Somehow, despite everything he went through, he gets to enjoy his comfortable life. His mom explained in another comment, "He's also got all his teeth except canines removed as a kitten before I got him."

The best rescue transformations are not the dramatic medical recoveries. They are quiet moments that build slowly.

Isabel Klee is known for working miracles with rescue dogs, fostering over 35 canines to date. The animal advocate gained internet fame while tending to Tiki, a rescue dog who had emotionally shut down due to his traumatic past. Klee’s earned a substantial TikTok following as Tiki flourished under her care and was adopted into a forever home.

Now promoting her best-selling memoir, Klee reunited with Tiki almost a year after his adoption and saw firsthand that she chose the right family for the precious pooch.

In the TikTok from @simonsits, Klee was at a book event and explained how she was about to see Tiki for the first time since his adoption.

"It has been almost a year and I cannot believe how he has thrived in his new home," Klee shared as she waited to see the canine cutie. "Honestly, I got a little bit emotional thinking about how far he's come... but I'm just so excited to see him and I can't wait."

Klee opened the door for Tiki and his mom, clearly thrilled to see the sweet pup. Tiki was adorned in a leopard print sweater that matched his mom's pants.

The rescue dog was hesitant with Klee at first and stuck by his mom to feel more secure. Klee knew Tiki just needed some time and gave him plenty of space to get acclimated. Soon, he sniffed around the room to explore and approached Klee, who was able to give him some gentle pets.

Tiki was more relaxed as time went on, yet stayed close to his mother. She is obviously Tiki's "safe place", and their bond was visibly unbreakable.

Naturally, Tiki and his mom stayed for the book event and proudly supported Klee's success.

Tiki spent most of the reunion next to his mom rather than Klee, which thrilled the famous foster mom. The fur baby clearly feels loved, safe, and cared for in his new family, confirming Klee's decision on his adopters. Followers noted how Tiki's response was evidence of his successful rehabilitation under Klee's care and her wise selection of his forever home.

And while Pinky has thankfully already found her forever home, her story is still a good reminder that shelters and rescues everywhere are full of loving animals waiting for someone to notice them.

Some have extra paws. Some have scars. Some are older. Some are shy. But so many of them are just hoping for the same thing Pinky found in the end: a safe place to belong.

Meanwhile, my Pomeranian, Kingston, acts personally betrayed if I stop petting him for 4 seconds, so I fully understand the emotional power of tiny, dramatic dog hands.

Adopting a rescue dog can be incredibly rewarding, but experts recommend taking time to understand each dog’s personality, medical needs, and adjustment period before bringing them home.

Other phrases that can instantly perk your dog up are those tied to their favorite activities. For dogs who love chasing balls or retrieving toys, words like “fetch,” “get it,” or “ball” can spark immediate excitement because they quickly learn to associate them with playtime and fun.

“For a dog that loves balls or retrieving items, more generally, ‘fetch,’ ‘get it,’ and ‘ball’ can all trigger a very happy response as the dog will be anticipating their favorite game,” Levy says. “Repetitive ball throwing boosts dopamine in a similar way that food can do, but remember to consider your dog's joint health before playing too much fetch.”

Levy says she had to include this simple word among the phrases that can instantly boost a dog’s mood and it's great to use when dog training as well. For many dogs, “yes” becomes a powerful marker when it’s consistently linked to something positive happening next.

“If a dog is conditioned to a marker word that means food is coming, this word will trigger an instant surge of good feelings,” Levy states.

If you want to make your dog feel good, this phrase can go a long way. Many dogs learn to associate “I love you” with gentle moments of affection, such as being petted, spoken to softly, or simply feeling safe with you.

“If you tend to tell your dog you love them at times when they are feeling calm, being stroked or receiving some sort of affection, then lots of dogs will recognize this phrase and respond positively to hearing it,” Levy says.

Dogs don’t just respond to the words/phrases you say—they respond to how you say them and what they’ve learned they mean over time.

Levy says that certain terms are likely to boost a dog's mood for one of two reasons. “It could be because this is a word they have learned to associate with good things, such as a treat coming, your own good mood, a walk or being stroked,” Levy explains. “The second reason dogs might like some words more than others and feel happier upon hearing them is due to the tone of voice you use when saying the words.”

Levy adds that dogs are highly sensitive to vocal tone, and are more likely to respond positively to high-pitched, animated, or “baby talk” speech. Dogs can also learn certain words and short phrases through repetition and context. “The more consistent certain words are with certain situations, the stronger this association will be,” Levy says.

Aurora is a 12-year-old Bald Eagle living at Christine’s Critters, a nonprofit licensed wildlife rehabilitation center in Connecticut. While she can't return to the wild, she’s clearly found her own way to enjoy the day.

According to her caregivers at Christine’s Critters, Aurora is a non-releasable Bald Eagle who was hit by a truck 11 years ago, which severely damaged her left wing and left her unable to fly. In 2024, she required a partial wing amputation to remove large, noncancerous tumors from that same wing, which is why she now lives permanently under expert human care.

But Aurora has adapted beautifully. She thrives in her role as an ambassador bird, and moments like this show just how comfortable and loved she is in her environment. The pool, the toys, the pure excitement all feel like part of a routine she genuinely enjoys.

Golden Retrievers are one of the most beloved dog breeds on earth, but they're also one of the most emotionally transparent. They don't know how to hide a feeling. If they are happy, everyone knows. If they are worried, the whole house knows. And if one of their favorite beings disappears for a day, they are not going to suddenly become mysterious and stoic about it. According to research conducted by dog safety gate company Dog-G8, the Golden State offers 1,494 pet-friendly properties, with 1,185 rated four stars or higher—the highest number of top-rated stays in the country. Because when it comes to actually enjoying a trip with your dog, it’s not just about whether pets are allowed—it’s about how many options you have, and how good those options actually are.

"California is ranked the highest because it gives dog owners what they need most when traveling, choice. A high number of pet-friendly stays means owners are less likely to compromise on location, quality, or suitability, which can make a huge difference during busy summer months," says Chris Maxted, director of Dog-G8. And with over 3,200 total accommodations analyzed, California also gives travelers the widest range of choices, from sprawling oceanfront resorts to boutique urban properties.

To formulate their findings, Dog-G8 analyzed accommodation data from Tripadvisor across all US states, ranking each based on the number of pet-friendly properties, the number of pet-friendly properties rated four stars and above, and the total property availability.
