Service Dog Gets Her Own Diploma at College Graduation and Everyone Is Emotional

Thu, 05/28/2026 - 10:55am

Get ready to cry your eyes out when you see this service dog receive his own graduation diploma in this viral dog video.

At this year's Texas Tech University graduation, student Makaela Muse crossed the stage with her service dog, Sadie, to receive her degree.

Muse and Sadie, who were both dressed in graduation robes, got the ultimate surprise when the graduation committee surprised Sadie with an honorary “diploma” of her own.

Who’s a good graduate? Texas Tech University student Makaela Muse crossed the stage with her service dog, Sadie — with Sadie surprised with an honorary “diploma” of her own.

How sweet was that when Texas Tech President Lawrence Schovenec put the diploma in Sadie's mouth?!

A well-deserved moment for Sadie for lots of hard work over the last four years.

We would have applauded, too. What a beautiful, tearjerker moment!

Why Service Dogs Are Such Important Partners for Students

Sadie was a vital partner for Muse to earn her bachelor's degree in animal sciences.

After passing out in her first lab, Muse was finally diagnosed with two health conditions that cause hormonal fluctuations.

Sadie became a medical alert dog who attended every class with Muse, including labs and long study sessions.

This service dog absolutely deserves a diploma for her hard work!

Muse is now applying to veterinary school, and she plans to have Sadie right by her side. They make a great team and have a strong emotional bond!

"There is no Makaela without Sadie, we're a packaged deal at this point," she said in an interview.

According to ServiceAnimalRegistrar.org, a service dog has full access rights on a college campus under the ADA and Section 504, which includes the classroom, the dining hall, the library, and on-campus housing.

The service dog can also accompany their parent anywhere on a college campus.

A service dog like Sadie can also help a student with medical disabilities facilitate interactions with teachers and other students, contributing to a more inclusive school atmosphere.

Dramatic American Bully Literally Slams the Door After Getting Denied an Extra Treat

Thu, 05/28/2026 - 10:10am

Both of my dogs are expressive in their own ways, especially when they don't get what they want. My senior Dachshund gives me the cold shoulder when I won't give her that extra biscuit she begs for, and her Pug brother follows me around whining if I don't take him for a car ride. It's their own way of throwing a temper tantrum like a toddler, so I just give them time to cool off.

Pablo the American Bully dog reacts more like a teenager when his demands are refused, especially when it comes to treats.

@americanbulliepablo01

My godness! My dog has attitude 🥹😅 #americanbully #fyp #trending #foryou #viral

♬ original sound - Pablo_01

In the TikTok from @americanbulliepablo01, the petulant pooch had his back to his mom and let out a few growls after she turned down his snack request.

"No, you cannot have another treat," she told Pablo firmly. "You've had too many, too many. Sorry."

Pablo didn't care for her response and showed his disdain by storming off into the other room. Then to drive his point home, Pablo slammed the door "like a moody teenager," prompting a loud gasp from his mom.

"My dog has attitude," the caption noted.

Followers related to the teen treatment Pablo's mom was subjected to, while others advocated for the cranky canine to get an extra biscuit.

"But mom you can never have enough treats," one explained.

"My dog will go under our bed and pout," another shared.

"Mine is like that too, lol," a follower remarked.

"I’ll go to my room so you adjust your attitude mom," someone joked.

How to Handle Pet Tantrums

Some dogs have mild tantrums at times, while others get worked up into a full-blown tizzy. Some ways to prevent or stop unwanted behaviors include:

Related: Pit Bull Mix Adorably Refuses Her Mom's Attempts of Comfort

  • Identify the underlying cause — Try to determine if your dog is anxious, scared, or in need of attention so you can properly address the behavior.
  • Consistent basic training — Common commands like "sit", "stay", and "leave it" that are regularly practiced can help your dog calm down in the moment.
  • Exercise and mental stimulation — Your dog is more likely to act out if they're bored or haven't expended any energy, so make sure they get daily physical and mental activity.
  • Avoid reinforcing negative behavior — Don't give in to tantrum-like actions, like allowing an extra biscuit when your dog won't stop barking.
  • Be patient and consistent — It takes time to create new behaviors and unlearn negative traits, so proceed with patience and positive reinforcement.

It probably took some time for Pablo to cool off, but hopefully he made amends with his mom.

Dramatic Cockatoo Demands Dad's Attention in the Funniest Way

Thu, 05/28/2026 - 9:55am

If there's one thing pet parents universally understand, it's that sometimes our cute companions act like toddlers having a full-blown meltdown. This looks different with every pet, and if you have a "mouthy" fur child in the mix, it's sometimes comparable to rationalizing with an angsty teen (which I also have)!

One opinionated Cockatoo named Preston isn't shy about letting his true feelings fly. If anything, the more he's tested, the louder he gets about it. This time, he's giving Dad an earful of an argument, and it's giving "big mad" energy!

@monkeyseemonkeydoranch

Preston isn’t shy when he wants you to know something. #monkeyseemonkeydoranch #preston #prestonthecockatoo #fyp #ranchlife

♬ オリジナル楽曲 - haido - haido

Whether you're new to Preston or not, Mom's not lying when she captions a post, "Preston isn't shy when he wants you to know something!" He didn't make his TV debut on Inside Edition for being a typical pet, so this diabolical rant is on the money for a bird in his villain era!

The @monkeyseemonkeydoranch post captures this funny Parrot at his finest as he shouts to Dad that he's not a "bad boy." If he's not complaining about something or bullying Mom, he's not being his true, authentic self (whom we love)!

Related: Cockatoo Reunites With Dad After 5 Days—Then Has the Sweetest Reaction

Preston isn't always shouting and demanding things from his people. There are some quieter moments he spends with Dad (sorry, Mom)! But those clips aren't nearly as hilarious or entertaining as those that show how spicy he can be when stealing the spotlight.

You'd be hard-pressed to find a video that shows Preston not giving someone a piece of his mind (again, sorry, Mom), but that's exactly why he's a sassy little superstar!

@monkeyseemonkeydoranch

Preston wasn’t having it today. #monkeyseemonkeydoranch #preston #prestonthecockatoo #funnyanimals #fyp

♬ original sound - MonkeySeeMonkeyDoRanch Why Cockatoos Bond With One Human More Than Others

I totally get why Preston is so demanding when it comes to wanting Dad's full, undivided attention. In the wild, Cockatoos are social, and they love their flock (which can be upward of 100 or more birds), but they're monogamous by nature.

They choose one special soul for life, and in a domesticated setting, they channel all those intense emotions and physical affection to their one and only trusted human.

Some of the more opinionated Parrots may even reject the others in the house who dare to get in their way of being with their chosen human. All of this to say, if Dad's around, do NOT compete with Preston for his attention!

A Bernese Mountain Dog Just Realized the New Baby Is Here to Stay, and His Reaction Is Hilarious

Thu, 05/28/2026 - 9:48am

Willard the Bernese Mountain Dog has an important announcement to make.

He did not sign up for any of this.

A TikTok from@goodboywillard captures the exact moment Willard processed some very hard to digest information. The text reads: "Willard after realizing the baby isn't going back." I feel you Willard. Lifetime commitment loading.

The simple but completely accurate caption: "Safe to say the adjustment period is ongoing."

And Willard's initial reaction? Pure and complete devastation. This is a dog who has been patiently waiting for this situation to resolve itself, only to discover that it isn't resolving for at least 18 years. The baby is staying. The baby is, in fact, a permanent resident now. And Willard's expression communicates every single emotion about this development.

@goodboywillard

Safe to say the adjustment period is ongoing #bernesemountaindog #berner #bernese #dog #dogsoftiktok #pup #willard #goodboywillard #bmd #foryou #foryoupage #goodboy #puppy #puppiesoftiktok

♬ Funny - Gold-Tiger

The comments nailed it:

"Dying! Willard is like - I did not sign up for this. 😂"

"That side eye."

"Willard is in mourning 🥰"

"Sleep when the baby sleeps. Yes! I mean you, Willard ❤️"

"Willard you lovely, fluffy, goof-ball you can come live with me if you can't adjust 😁🥰!"

Here's the thing about Willard: he's not being dramatic. His whole world just changed overnight and nobody asked him about it. His schedule is different and the house is filled with completely different smells. There's a tiny, loud new creature getting mom and dad’s attention. Unfortunately, Willard is realizing that this is just... life now.

He'll eventually get to accept and maybe even enjoy the situation. He just needs a minute.

Helping Dogs Adjust to a New Baby

Willard's adjustment period is perfectly normal, and there's a lot that families can do to make the transition easier for their fur babies.

According to the ASPCA, dogs face an overwhelming number of new sights, sounds, and smells when a baby arrives. For dogs who haven't spent much time around children, some of those things can be genuinely confusing, upsetting or overwhelming.

Start early when possible. Ideally, you should introduce your dog to baby-related items before the baby ever arrives. Unwrap gear like swings and bouncers gradually and let your dog investigate. Play recordings of baby sounds and give your pup treats so they learn that those baby sounds predict good things, not stress. Before we brought our daughters home, we brought our dogs swaddle blankets that smelled of our newborns so they recognized their scent.

Related: Anxious Dogs Are Responding to One Surprising Sound—Studies Show It Works in Minutes

Associate the new arrival with rewards. When the baby is present and awake, make the extra effort to give your dog extra attention, treats, and affection. Make him feel special and like the valued member of the family that he is. The ASPCA recommends doing the opposite of what feels natural—rather than showering your dog with love when the baby sleeps, save special attention for when the baby is around. Your fur baby learns quickly: baby awake = good things happen.

Keep your dog’s routines as consistent as possible. Dogs thrive on predictability. Walks at regular times, feeding schedules, and quiet downtime help dogs feel safe and secure when everything else feels different.

Give your dog a dedicated safe space to go. A comfy bed in the baby's room or a cozy corner nearby allows your dog to be near the family without feeling overwhelmed by them. Occasionally leave treats there for your dog to discover on their own.

Teach a gentle "go away" cue—like an “you’re excused’. This gives your dog an exit option when they feel too uncomfortable rather than feeling trapped. Dogs who know they can simply leave a stressful situation rarely feel the need to growl or snap.

Let them investigate calmly. When your dog is relaxed, allow brief, gentle sniffs of the baby's feet while speaking softly. Keep interactions between baby and pup short and sweet initially, and reward calm, gentle behavior always.

Most dogs—even dramatically devastated ones like Willard—adjust perfectly with time, patience, and consistency. The side-eyes eventually get fewer. The mourning period ends. Before you know it, your dog realizes the baby is actually pretty great—especially once the baby starts dropping food from the high chair.

Willard isn't there yet. But he will be.

Dwarf Brussels Griffon Has the Most Stressful Little Face on the Internet

Thu, 05/28/2026 - 9:20am

Dottie, the dwarf Brussels Griffon, looks like she has spent the last 48 hours witnessing deeply upsetting paranormal activity inside a haunted Victorian mansion.

And honestly? The tiny, stressed expression never leaves her face.

TikToker @dottiethedwarf shared the hilarious clip showing little Dottie calmly sitting before eerie, horror movie-style music suddenly begins playing.

The SECOND the music starts, Dottie slowly backs herself into a corner with her tiny body pressed dramatically against the wall while staring ahead in complete alarm.

Related: Dog Gets Lost in the Woods for 10 Minutes and Returns Looking Like She’s Seen Ghosts

And honestly? She looks exactly like somebody just whispered, “Don’t turn around.”

The tiny dog’s permanently shocked expression, combined with the horror soundtrack, immediately sent the internet into emotional chaos.

People in the Comments Were Absolutely Losing It:

• “She looks like a Furby.”
• “What kind of bug is this?”
• “Why is she staring at me like that?”
• “You fed her after midnight, didn’t you?”
• “I love this little creature so much.”

Honestly, the “what kind of bug is this?” comment is painfully accurate because Dottie somehow looks like:

• A bat
• A gremlin
• A concerned Victorian child
• A nervous moth
• A creature discovered in an enchanted forest

... all simultaneously.

One commenter perfectly summarized her overall appearance:

“It’s a bat, Chihuahua, Pug, and French Bulldog all at the same time.”

And honestly? That somehow STILL doesn’t fully explain what’s happening here.

The funniest part is that Dottie herself is doing absolutely nothing dramatic, besides standing there, looking deeply emotionally overwhelmed.

Meanwhile, my elderly Orange Cat, Tarkus, also occasionally stares into corners like he’s detecting supernatural activity the rest of us can't perceive, so honestly, I respect tiny, anxious creatures with haunted energy.

• Very emotional expressions
• Huge personalities in small bodies

And honestly? Dottie may currently have one of the most unintentionally hilarious little faces on the entire internet.

Golden Retriever Decides to Go for a Swim Mid-Marriage Proposal—and It’s So On-Brand

Thu, 05/28/2026 - 9:00am

Golden Retrievers love the water: they were bred to be in it. Whenever they can, most of them will seek it out, even if it's a little bit inconvenient for their humans. They don't know any better (even though they definitely do)! You just have to let them live their lives!

One Golden Retriever had the honor of going with his parents while his dad was proposing to his mom. They were making one of the most important memories of their lives... But there was water there, so naturally, he had other plans:

@weddingcutcollective

Wally: attention back on me plz

♬ som original - ana sofia

The moment was so well thought out that the man even hired Wedding Cut Collective, which is a professional wedding and engagement photographer in Australia. Odds are, this was a pretty expensive moment!

Well, if it was expensive before, it's absolutely priceless now: Wally the Golden Retriever totally stole the show. He waited for Dad to be mostly done with the proposal, and then he ran to jump in. Unfortunately for Wally, that water is a little rough, and he was not allowed in.

Related: Golden Retriever Saved From Slaughterhouse Has the Most Grateful Eyes

Though the Wedding Cut Collective doesn't specialize in pets at weddings, they make sure furry friends feel included whenever they're there. It's becoming a lot more common to include pets in weddings:

That's a very well-groomed Doodle. I bet they made a special appointment just for this! How perfect!

Golden Retrievers Love Water

Wally is proof that Golden Retrievers love water, even if it means stealing the show away from your parents' engagement moment. When you're a dog parent, it's just something you have to deal with!

Konstantin Trubavin / Aurora Photos / Getty Images

Golden Retrievers were bred for swimming: they were waterfowl hunting dogs. Their entire job was to swim, and though most have never been hunting a day in their lives, they still love to swim. Though they're natural swimmers, you should still:

  • Supervise them the entire time they're in the water.
  • Only let them swim in bodies of water that are visibly clean.
  • Watch out for fast-moving water.
  • Always bathe them after they go for a swim.

If at all possible, try to introduce them to water when they're still puppies. If they grow up around the water, they're more likely to love it!

This Basenji Is Shattering His Breed's Spotless Reputation One Quirky Habit at a Time

Thu, 05/28/2026 - 8:48am

Basenjis have a reputation that sounds almost too good to be true. They are often called one of the cleanest dog breeds in the world, famous for grooming themselves like cats, lacking the typical "dog smell," and staying surprisingly tidy around the house.

And then there is Percy, a young basenji who recently changed the whole perspective with a single Reddit post. In a video, we see him enthusiastically digging through muddy ground as if he had just discovered buried treasure.

🐶SIGN UP to get "pawsitivity" delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾🐾

As dirt flew everywhere, Percy looked thrilled, and his owner captioned it perfectly, "Maybe not basenji quirks, but my basenji has quirks."

The Comment Section Was a Support Group

It turns out Percy is not alone, not even close. One commenter said, "Of course he wants to go inside and roll on all your furniture," probably speaking from experience.

Another shared a story that escalated quickly: "One of mine once found a gelatinized dead sheep carcass. Great gobs of green goo. Oh, did she have a great time rolling around in that until I came up on her. So, their clean nature has its time and place."

The mud reports kept coming. "My Basenji loves digging holes in the lawn after a good rain."

Related: Mischief-Making Schnauzer Sporting Cobalt Collar Is One Proud Boy

Percy's Best Friend Makes the Story Even Funnier

As his dad explained, Percy is still young. That is the reason for his chaotic energy. Adolescent dogs often treat mud puddles like sacred playgrounds.

But the funniest part of all is Percy's friendship with a Poodle. Here is the twist: his [oodle friend hates water. As Percy's dad said, "I think their brains were switched at birth."

While basenjis are known for being cautious around water, sporting breeds like poodles were bred to be water retrievers. Turns out, dogs do ignore stereotypes when they feel like it.

Why Do Dogs Love to Dig?

Dogs dig for more reasons than pet parents realize. The behavior traces back to their wolf ancestry, where wild animals dug to hunt prey in underground dens and create safe spots.

According to the American Kennel Club, dogs still dig to seek out burrowing animals or to cool down by reaching lower soil temperatures during hot weather.

Some breeds are more prone to digging than others. For example, terriers were bred to dig and chase animals in holes.

But for this basenji, digging is more about having fun. The good news is his dad is taking it well. The quirks, as he accepted them, are part of the deal. You do not get to pick which ones.

Viewers simply can't get enough: "I will never be tired of watching these videos. Keep them coming!" declares one.

Why Do Dogs Howl Along to Music? Here's What Experts Say.

If you've ever had a dog suddenly throw their head back and join in while you're playing music like Meko, you already know how delightfully unhinged it is. But there's actually a really good reason it happens — and it goes back a lot further than TikTok.

According to the American Kennel Club, the howling instinct is deeply rooted in dogs' DNA, inherited directly from their wolf ancestors. Wolves howl to communicate, locate pack members, and assert group identity. When your dog hears music and chimes in, they're tapping into that same ancient instinct. They may not know exactly why they're doing it. They just know they have to.

What's even more interesting is that research suggests dogs actually have a sense of pitch. Studies have shown that wolves deliberately howl on different notes from one another — each one individualizing their sound within the chorus. Your dog is doing the same thing. They're not just howling along, they're harmonizing.

Psychologist Deborah Wells at Queens University Belfast found that dogs also respond very differently to different types of music. Classical music made shelter dogs calm and quiet. Heavy metal made them agitated and barky. Pop music? Completely ignored, LOL.

So if your dog has a favorite genre — lean in. Turns out they might be more musically discerning than we ever gave them credit for.

Persian Cat with 'Werewolf Syndrome' Rebels Against Being Brushed and Prefers His Own Styling Skills

Thu, 05/28/2026 - 7:10am

Long-haired cats have gorgeous, fluffy manes that need maintenance. While felines are adept at personal grooming, certain breeds require consistent brushing to keep those luscious locks healthy.

Atchoum is a Persian cat with extra-flowing hair due to a condition called "werewolf syndrome". His mom tries to keep his fur tangle-free and manageable with brushing, but the pretty kitty has his own form of styling.

@atchoumthecat

Nothing works, he just refuses to stay all nice and groomed.🫣🤣 ***** Rien à faire, il refuse de rester tout beau tout peigné.🫣🤣

♬ son original - atchoumthecat

In the TikTok from @atchoumthecat, the feline fur baby was lying on the bed trying to tame some stray hairs on his paws with his tongue. Atchoum's mom gently interrupted and started smoothing down the wild hair on his head with a brush.

The Persian cat's fur looked much more controlled after his mom's attempts, but Atchoum was obviously not a fan of her styling skills. He promptly took his paws and tousled his hair back to its former chaotic state. Atchoum appears to prefer that 'rolled-out-of-bed' look.

"Nothing works — he just refuses to stay nice and groomed," the caption read.

Followers raved over Atchoum's unique look and applauded his independent coiffing technique.

"He's got his own way of styling his fur, mama," one pointed out.

"That’s just the most adorable kitty ever," another remarked.

"Atta boy, Atchoum ! Mom will brush you, but you will do what you want," a follower noted.

"He is absolutely too cute," someone gushed.

What Is 'Werewolf Syndrome' in Cats?

Hypertrichosis, also known as "werewolf syndrome", in cats is a rare condition resulting in excessive hair growth all over the body. Causes of hypertrichosis often involve genetic mutations, endocrine disorders, and certain medications.

Symptoms include:

  • Abnormally long hair.
  • Increased hair density.
  • Altered hair texture.
  • Facial and skeletal abnormalities.
  • Neurological issues.
  • Dental problems.

There is no cure for hypertrichosis, so management and supportive care are essential. Regular grooming, treating symptoms like skin infections, and monitoring any underlying conditions and potential complications are all imperative.

Related: Persian Cat Protests Mom's Late 'Food Delivery' With Perfect Little Beggar Hands

No evidence suggests a breed disposition for hypertrichosis, and it isn't inherently painful for cats, though hair matting and skin infections can cause discomfort if not consistently managed.

Atchoum looks like he is well-taken care of, and his mom obviously takes time to tend to his beautiful long tresses — when he allows it.

Wife Surprises Husband With a Foster Husky, and Now He Has One Very Big Question

Thu, 05/28/2026 - 6:48am

It started as a foster situation. It looks like it's turning into something else entirely.

When a man's wife, who works at Bideawee, a rescue organization in New York, brought home a four-year-old dog named Hugo, the plan was simple: foster, help him transition and find him a home. Hugo had other plans. So did the husband.

🐶SIGN UP to get "pawsitivity" delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾🐾

"We are hoping to be a foster fail," he admitted on Reddit's r/siberianhusky, less than an hour after Hugo walked through the door.

One Look at Hugo and the Internet Made Up Its Mind

"He's really cute! I don't necessarily get pomsky specifically but I do think he is a mix. 30lbs would be very small for a male! Boy he sure has a cute face and SO many whiskers!" opined one Redditor.

Another commenter kept it simple: "He is so handsome and has the sweetest face."

Hard to argue with either. Hugo is four years old, weighs around 30 pounds, and the family suspects he might be a Pomsky, a Pomeranian-Siberian husky mix, though the question remains open. At 30 pounds, he sits on the small end for a male husky, which would make the Pomsky theory worth considering. Either way, nobody who saw his photos was thinking very hard about his breed. They were just looking at that face.

Related: Senior Rescue Dog Gets Foster Home After Waiting a Year and It's the Best

The Real Challenge: Two Cats Who Haven't Voted Yet

Hugo isn't walking into an empty house. He's meeting two rescue cats, Fio, who has spent time around dogs before and is already sniffing curiously from behind a closed door, and Little Cat, a Maine coon mix with an aloof streak who, according to her owner, essentially thinks she's a dog anyway.

Day one is going carefully. And one commenter made sure the family kept their expectations grounded: "Careful with those cats. It's always hard to know how a husky will do with them. Responses vary by individual."

It's a fair point worth sitting with. Siberian huskies carry a strong prey drive. Even the friendliest one can struggle with small animals, and the first few weeks matter more than most people realize. The family knows this. They're taking it slowly, which is exactly the right call.

How to Introduce a New Dog to Resident Cats

If you're going through the same situation, the process matters far more than the timeline. Rushing it, even when everyone seems friendly, almost always backfires.

Start with scent before sight. Swap bedding between the dog and cats for a few days before any face-to-face contact. Let them build a picture of each other through smell first. Fio sniffing Hugo out from behind a closed door on day one is this process working exactly as it should.

Use a barrier before shared space. A baby gate or cracked door lets both animals see each other without the risk of a chase. Keep sessions short and repeat over several days. Watch the dog closely -- a loose body and soft curiosity are good signs. Stiffening or hard staring means more time at this stage.

Give the cats a way out, always. Cats need to feel they can leave on their own terms. Cat trees, shelves, a room the dog can't reach -- these aren't optional. A cat that feels cornered is far more likely to swipe, and one bad interaction can set the whole process back by weeks.

Don't declare victory too soon. Even after things look fine, keep supervising until you're genuinely confident. "Seems fine" and "is fine" are two different things in the first month.

The Foster Fail in Progress

There's a particular kind of person who volunteers to foster a dog and somehow ends up keeping them. Usually, they said with great confidence that they were just fostering. Usually, it happens before the first night is over.

Why Do Dogs Tilt Their Heads When You Talk? A Trainer Explains

Thu, 05/28/2026 - 5:10am

As a pet parent, your dog has a way of leaving you both laughing and confused at the same time. One dog behavior you may notice your pup doing a lot is cocking its head sideways. You may wonder Why does my dog tilt its heads when I speak to them? Are they judging you, curious about something you are doing or perhaps they just want to look cute? To find out, read on to decode your dog's head tilts—and what they really mean. After all, there are a few adorable variations of this pose.

If you've ever been puzzled about a dog head tilt meaning, you're not alone. Canine body language can be confusing at times. However, once you start to notice the signals your dog is displaying, you'll be able to figure out what they are trying to tell you.

To find out more about this quirky dog habit, here’s what’s really going on behind that sweet head movement. You may be surprised by the reason!

There's no denying that dog communication behavior differs from people's. However, that doesn't mean you'll never know what certain things they do mean. In fact, a lot of cute dog habits can be explained. When it comes to dogs tilting their heads, trainers and a recent study in Animals suggest dogs might tilt their heads to process what we're saying.

The authors combined AI analyses of video records and the Dog Facial Action Coding System (DogFACS) to answer the question, "Why do dogs tilt their heads to one side?" For the uninitiated, DogFACS is a science-backed tool for identifying and coding facial movements in domesticated dogs. It turns out, dogs have an intention behind this adorable dog behavior.

"The study seems to suggest that head tilting in dogs serves a purpose—beyond just being cute," states Annie-Mae Levy, CFBA, professional dog trainer at Woofz, a puppy and dog training app. "It might, in fact, somehow enhance their ability to process things we say to them."

Why Some Dogs Tilt Their Heads More Than Others

The new study builds on previous brain imaging (MRI) research showing that dogs use the left hemisphere of their brains to process familiar words. The right side of their brain is active, too, but pups use it to detect tone of voice.

For the study, the authors recruited 103 dogs. They recorded the dog's response to four situations: resting, silent eye contact, listening to neutral voices unrelated to the pup's surroundings and hearing familiar words spoken with enthusiasm by the owner. Forty-one pups tilted their heads during any scenario.

They also looked into whether certain factors, including age and sex, predicted head-tilt frequency. But there was one that reigned supreme. "The head tilting behavior was most pronounced when dogs were listening to their owners saying familiar words," Levy says. "This effect was then further exaggerated in dogs who knew more words than other study participants."

So, why do dogs react to human voices and why do some tilt ther heads more than others? When broken down it turns out that neutered dogs were more likely to tilt their heads than spayed females. Why is that? The authors have a theory: It's similar to how male humans process language (with one hemisphere) versus how female humans process language (with both hemispheres).

Do Dogs Tilt Their Heads Just To Look Cute?

Researchers in the new study don't believe that dogs intentionally tilt their heads to look "cuter" or "more attractive" to humans. Levy agrees. "After reading the results of this study, it seems less likely that we would expect dogs to tilt their heads an equal amount regardless of whether they are hearing random new words or words they know well," Levy says.

That said, it's also possible that, if you reinforce the behavior with treats or praise, your dog might learn to tilt their head to get a reward. "It could still be argued that this behavior is likely to be more exaggerated in dogs whose owners find the head tilt very cute and give attention to the behavior," Levy notes.

3 Different Types of Dog Head Tilts and What They Mean

Dogs don’t just tilt their heads in one single way—there are a few variations, and each can hint at slightly different things your dog is trying to process or communicate.

A slow, gentle head tilt is the most common and is often seen when a dog is carefully listening to a familiar voice or trying to pinpoint where a sound is coming from. Trainers often link this to concentration and sound processing—your dog may simply be trying to understand you better.

A repeated or side-to-side head tilt can suggest higher curiosity or mild confusion. In these moments, dogs may be actively trying to interpret tone, unfamiliar words, or new sounds. It’s often seen when you use a new command or an excited voice.

A sharp or quick head tilt is usually more reflexive and can happen when a sound suddenly grabs their attention. This type is more about alertness than emotional meaning, often tied to environmental awareness.

This Newfoundland Models Grandma’s Sequin Outfit Like a Proud Little Star

Wed, 05/27/2026 - 8:55pm

Every now and then, a dog-human BFF pair comes along and shows us the kind of bond we should all be so lucky to have. They get each other, support one another, and make the rest of us outsiders smile just watching them.

Chewy, the Newfoundland, and his 96-year-old grandma are that pair. For years, they've captivated the world with their sweet bond, and in a new video, the loyal pup models one of Grandma's latest outfits she crafted just for him.

@chewythenewfie

I told her we were leaving so she put this together last minute😭❤️

♬ chicken fried - lyrics🪩🤍 (taylors version)

Chewy's family loves visiting their lake house, especially for holidays like Memorial Day, and Grandma can't always go along. Chewy gets pretty bummed out when it's time to say goodbye, so it helps when she leaves him with a parting gift until they meet again.

His way-too-perfect sequined holiday fit is the perfect way to celebrate and let his favorite lady know how much he loves her (and he looks SO proud)!

Mom noted in the comments that the precious Newfoundlandloves when Grandma sews—probably because it's almost always for him! She wouldn't dare leave the good boy empty-handed, and he's practically beaming while sporting this fashion number.

Chewy always has a hard time leaving Grandma, but once they've settled in at the lake house, he has a good time with the rest of his family.

However, he's such a good nanny dog that if anyone jumps in the water for a swim, he's jumping in, too, to save them. He's such a gentle soul who doesn't want anything to happen to his people.

@chewythenewfie

He brought me all the way to shore ❤️

♬ Could You Be Loved - Bob Marley & The Wailers Newfoundlands Form Deep Bonds

As a Newfoundland, Chewy has an almost endless supply of love and devotion for his family. His bond with Grandma is deeply rooted in his breed's best traits. He's affectionate, patient, and loyal, always keeping watch and ever ready to be by their side through anything.

These gentle giants are considered the ultimate "nanny dogs" because of their sweet temperaments, and they make amazing pets for those with children.

Though Grandma doesn't need a nanny, Chewy will still volunteer to be her number one companion. Whether she's just keeping him company or sewing the most adorable costumes, he'll be there for it all!

Tiny Aussiedoodle’s Sweet Little Happy Face Has People Convinced She’s a Puppet

Wed, 05/27/2026 - 7:55pm

Pixie, the tiny Aussiedoodle, has one of those faces that makes people immediately stop whatever they’re doing and say: “That cannot possibly be a real dog.”

Because honestly? She looks less like a living animal and more like a tiny handmade puppet created specifically to teach children important life lessons about kindness and friendship.

@pixie.steckler

Do you think she had fun?

♬ original sound - Pixie the Aussiedoodle

Shared on TikTok by @pixie.steckler, the adorable clip shows Pixie sitting in the back seat after a road trip while her dog dad asks if she had fun.

And the little face she makes in response is honestly devastatingly cute.

Pixie Immediately Lights Up With:

• A giant, happy smile
• A perfect head tilt
• Tiny stuffed animal eyes
• Full “I love you papa” energy

The little Mini Aussiedoodle looks so unbelievably soft and expressive that people in the comments became completely convinced she couldn’t possibly be real.

• “She looks like a puppet or stuffed animal.”
• “She is just darling.”
• “Pixie is sooo in love with you.”
• “I’ll go wherever you’re going, Papa.”

Honestly, that last comment fully captures the vibe because Pixie genuinely looks thrilled simply to exist in the same general vicinity as her human.

But the funniest comments came from people pretending Pixie was secretly an elderly woman trapped in puppy form.

“Pixie was part of my grandma’s sewing group back in '95 and makes the best cookies.”

Which honestly feels weirdly believable because Pixie absolutely has tiny, retired church lady energy.

Another person wrote:

“OMG, she would be adorable in a kids' book. 'Pixie’s Adventures!'”

And honestly? That is EXACTLY what she looks like.

Like if you opened a children’s storybook and a tiny plush puppy taught woodland animals how to believe in themselves, this would be the dog.

My Pomeranian, Kingston, also weaponizes head tilts for emotional manipulation, but Pixie somehow looks like she was professionally engineered in a laboratory, specifically for maximum serotonin production. Talk about cuteness overload!

Did I ask too much?

♬ Suspense - Gold-Tiger

Aussiedoodles often have especially expressive “teddy bear” appearances because of their fluffy coats, rounded facial features, and highly social personalities.

Many People Love Aussiedoodles Because They Tend To Have:

• Soft, curly fur
• Big expressive eyes
• Rounded puppy faces
Playful personalities
• Human-like facial expressions
• Extremely affectionate behavior

Mini Aussiedoodles especially tend to resemble plush toys because of their smaller size and fluffy coats.

And honestly? Pixie may currently be one of the most aggressively adorable little dogs on the internet.

Golden Retrievers Take Shifts With New Baby Like Devoted Nannies

Wed, 05/27/2026 - 7:20pm

When you have a dog before children, they're the center of your world. You don't know how they'll react to bringing home a human baby, but the hope is they'll accept (and maybe even love) the new addition.

Golden Retriever sisters Winnie and Scarlett are the definition of "good girls." When Mom brought home a baby boy, these two pups decided it was their responsibility to keep that baby safe, protected, and adored. From the first day, they've worked alternating "shifts" with him like the most devoted nannies around.

Turns out we didn’t take love away from our dogs… their family just got a little bigger 🥹💛 #babyanddog #dogandbaby #goldenretriever #goldenretrievers #babiesanddogs

The video shows all the ways Winnie and Scarlett took to their new human. Everything from baths to playtime, a stroller ride to swimming, and everything in between are all the ways these two Golden Retrievers make love a verb and show that boy every day. This is why we don't deserve dogs!

It's been about seven months since everything changed for the gals, and they've done an amazing job living up to the Golden Retriever standards. Growing up with such loyal besties is the best thing that can happen to any child, and that boy has it. There will never be a day when he'll feel alone if he has them by his side.

How could anyone not fall in love with this duo after this previous video?

@winniethegoldenpupper

Winnie and Scarlett are taking their big sister jobs very seriously 😉🫶🏻 #dogsandbabies #babiesanddogs #babyanddog #goldenretriever #goldensoftiktok

♬ Little Life - Robert Gromotka  Why Golden Retrievers Love Babies

There's a long list of reasons Golden Retrievers are great pets for families with kids, and you can see why with Winnie and Scarlett.

Much of why this breed is chosen again and again to raise alongside children is because they're gentle, docile, and affectionate. Their "pack mentality" triggers their instincts to protect those vulnerable (like babies), and they'll do whatever they must to protect them.

Goldens are highly nurturing and patient, adaptable to the unpredictable behaviors and sounds of little ones, especially when they learn that babies might drop food for the pup to "clean up!"

Dogs like Winnie and Scarlett were made for this nanny role, and these two are crushing it. Now, someone give them at least a dozen treats for all their hard work protecting that baby!

Wed, 05/27/2026 - 6:32pm

That’s where Aldi is coming in this summer with an adorable pet essential that blends cozy camping vibes and everyday practicality. Heart to Tail Glamping Pet Bed, $19.99 at Aldi Heart to Tail Glamping Pet Bed

Aldi

Hitting stores on Wednesday, June 3, the Heart to Tail Glamping Pet Bed is one of Aldi’s newest pet finds of the season, and one the retailer hasn’t shared too many details about just yet. And if we know anything about stylish and affordable Aldi finds like this one, a little bit of mystery only makes it more intriguing, so you’ll likely have to act fast if you’re planning on snagging one on release day.

As for the details that make this bed so intriguing in the first place, its whimsical teepee-inspired design is complemented by five wooden poles and an oxford cloth-like covering in an off-white shade. Each post comes together at the top, where they are fastened with an integrated cloth rope, while at the base, black anti-slip rubber feet help keep the bed secure during zoomies and unexpected flops.

Inside, a cozy donut-shaped pet bed takes up the entire surface area of the floor, complete with fluffy, high-quality padded walls and an extra grippy underside for added security. Also included are two wooden curtain tiebacks that fasten to the poles on either side of the bed’s entrance, allowing for either an open or closed-door look to coincide with your pet’s mood or sleep schedule.

Related: Target's $25 Couch Protector Is So 'Soft' and 'Cozy,' Pups Are Curling Right Up

What we aren’t entirely sure of is the bed’s official footprint, though we can make some guesses based on similar products. For starters, the average Aldi pet bed measures anywhere from 22 to 36 inches in length and width, which would make this bed roughly large enough for small to medium sized dog breeds and cats alike. As for its height, we’re going to err on the side of caution and guess anywhere from 23 to 25 inches tall.

While we can’t confirm it yet, there’s a good chance this bed also features detachable, machine-washable covers, as well as an easy-to-break-down design for maximum portability. Snag one for your pet and you can bring it on your next camping trip so they have a little private space of their own, or set one up at Grandma’s house so every visit feels even more like a special vacation.

Whatever you do, don’t miss out on a chance to bring the cozy glamping vibes home for your little furry friend. And in the meantime, while you wait for it to arrive, you ought to check out Aldi’s Collapsible Pet Pool too.

This Abandoned Dog Was Fighting to Survive — Then Rescuers Changed Everything

Wed, 05/27/2026 - 6:10pm

Niall Harbison deals with serious health issues in the street dogs he comes across through his Thailand animal rescue, Happy Doggo. Sometimes these canines have such extensive injuries or illnesses that they seem too far gone to recover, yet Harbison and his team always do everything in their power to help them survive.

Jimbo is a small white dog that Harbison found while on a jog and immediately sprang into action to save the precious pooch.

View this post on Instagram

The Instagram post from @niall.harbison told Jimbo's story, where the video showed the street dog "alone and close to death" as he suffered from a serious neck wound.

"He was completely broken, low on energy, and as soon as we saw his blood results, we knew that he was very close to the edge," the caption explained.

Harbison brought Jimbo to the rescue and got him immediate medical care. Exhausted from trying to stay alive amidst his declining health and no food or shelter, Jimbo finally let his body get the rest it needed.

"It was only after 24 hours of being in our hospital that Jimbo started to really go downhill as his little body relaxed away from the dangers of the street and from finding his own food," the story continued. "We see this all the time with dogs that have been running on adrenaline."

Jimbo Never Has to Live on the Streets Again

Jimbo never had a dog bed before, so the medical team literally carried him around in it everywhere they needed to bring him. With IV meds, nutrition, non-stop sleep, and lots of love and affection from Harbison and his team, Jimbo is already showing tremendous progress. And best of all, the canine cutie will eventually have a forever home.

"He still has a ways to go and he won’t be recovered for many weeks, but the future is bright for Jimbo," the caption shared. "We’ve already told him that he won’t be going back on the streets and that we’ll be finding him a home."

The video concluded with Jimbo strolling on a leash with a smile on his face. The fearless fur baby is finally getting the love and care he deserves.

Harbison launched Happy Doggo in 2021. In addition to the sterilization and daily feeding of thousands of street dogs, he recently opened a full-service medical clinic in honor of his beloved Golden Retriever, Tina, and a retirement village for senior dogs.

Stray Cat Brings Her ‘Rainbow Kittens’ to Woman’s House for Dinner

Wed, 05/27/2026 - 6:00pm

Stray cats have babies all the time: it's a problem to the point that there are entire organizations devoted to spaying/neutering them. They can't get to them all, though, and there are stray kittens born every day.

Even though they don't have loving homes, a lot of them do have moms who really care for them, just as any cat would. Many of them care so much that they even bring all of their kittens back to their favorite food spots, like this one:

@kiera.elice

Mama Fuzz bought her kids to our door ok. This makes Litter 2 for her.. (1st litter she only had 2, its 5 of these lil bastards this time😩) We been trying to trap her for months to get her fixed but still grateful she trusts us with her kids 🥹 #straycatsoftiktok #straykitten #mamacat #babycat #straycat

♬ original sound - Aequorika

Kiera Elice has been looking after Mama Fuzz for at least 2 years now: this is her second litter. She apparently did the same thing with the last litter, though those kittens probably weren't quite as beautiful as these ones. There are three black ones and two grey Tabby ones.

People in the comments were very concerned about her, and rightfully so: continually producing stray cats is not good. Mama and all of those babies need to be spayed, quickly, but don't worry! They've got that covered.

Related: Woman Finds Feral Kittens That Look Just Like Cartoon Alleycats

Kiera says they've trapped Mama and the babies and are taking them all to the shelter! There, they'll be spayed, then weaned and adopted out after that. She looks like a real sweetie, too:

@kiera.elice

Replying to @HARDER.THAN.ME MamaFuzz has been reunited with her babies and they will all be going to the shelter this week. 😊 ATLANTA ‼️ If anyone wants a kitten please let me know, asap #kittenrescue #catrescue #straycatsoftiktok #tnr #fosterkittens

♬ original sound - Kiera Elice

She's slightly feral, but that's okay. She's not as skittish around humans as many other feral cats are, which is a bonus: with the right family, she'll really thrive!

How Do Stray Cats Bring Food to Their Kittens?

For the first several weeks of life, kittens are exclusively nursing. At about 3 weeks old, they begin the weaning process, which is usually finished by 8 weeks. For kittens in catteries, their moms have access to every tool for weaning.

Image via Shutterstock / Esin Deniz

Stray cats have a few options when it comes to finding food to help wean their kittens. Unfortunately, though, most of the options aren't great. They include:

  • Getting help from kind strangers.
  • Rummaging through the trash.
  • Hunting animals.

She brings them food in mouthfuls, almost like a baby bird situation. The kittens will learn to chew over the course of the next few weeks, and eventually, they'll strike out on their own. Luckily, these kittens will go to loving forever homes for the rest of their meals!

Siberian Husky Puppy Born With Rare Markings Has Everyone Completely Obsessed

Wed, 05/27/2026 - 5:48pm

Most Siberian Husky puppies arrive already looking like they belong on the cover of something. But Vita arrived with a little something extra—a marking on her face so perfectly placed that her owner calls it her "built-in glasses."

Her mom posted the photos on Reddit's r/husky, and people fell in love. It is easy to see why. The markings sit symmetrically around both eyes, creating the unmistakable look of a puppy who is ready for a nature documentary or possibly a very serious academic lecture.

Vita's Photos Hit a Nerve, and Not Just Because She's Cute

The comments came fast, and they came from every direction.

One fan immediately recognized the look: "My boy did too! They were so cute, I called them his welder goggles!"

Then came a comment that stopped the scroll entirely in a different way. "Omg she looks like a doppelganger of my late husky at that age! She was the best dog I ever had! Vita is so adorable you are very lucky!"

That one landed. Because sometimes a photo of a puppy isn't just a photo of a puppy. Sometimes it pulls someone back to a dog they still miss, a face they thought they had forgotten. Vita's mom probably posted those photos expecting people to smile. She may not have expected to give someone that kind of moment.

And then, because this is the internet and someone always has to say the true thing: "Now she can see your commands but still ignore them."

Anyone who has ever owned a husky knows exactly how accurate that is.

Related: Lonely Siberian Husky Waiting in the Snow Gets the Sweetest Surprise

Why Do Huskies Get These Markings?

Siberian huskies carry an unusually wide set of pigmentation genes. At least 15 separate genes influence coat color and pattern in dogs, and huskies express more of that variation than most breeds.

The goggle or spectacle pattern, in which darker pigment rings both eyes symmetrically, is linked to interactions between the E and A loci, which together control how much dark pigment the body produces and exactly where it lands on the face.

What makes Vita's markings stand out isn't the pattern itself; it's how evenly matched both sides are, a placement determined during fetal development that is largely random, which is why a result this symmetrical is genuinely rare.

A Puppy That Was Always Going to Be Memorable

The name says it all: Vita, Latin for life. It suits her.

Huskies are known for being dramatic, expressive, and thoroughly convinced of their own importance. Vita arrived with her signature frames already in place, as if she had prepared for the role before she was even born.

Those glasses won't come off. And something tells you she would not want them to.

Baby Elephant and Mom Cuddle While Another Joyfully Dances In the Background

Wed, 05/27/2026 - 5:13pm

There are few bonds as deep as that between a mother and her baby, even in the wild animal kingdom. Mother Elephantsare especially protective of their calves, particularly considering the 22-month gestation period they invest in their young. Few things are as adorable to witness as a mother Elephant caring for her calf — except, perhaps, an Elephant dancing behind them.

Sound specific? When it comes to social media videos of Elephants, capturing these majestic animals and sharing them online helps fuel curiosity and education about these remarkable creatures.

A video shared to TikTok beautifully puts the bond between a mother Elephant and her baby on display. As the mother and calf walk together, the little one sweetly touches its trunk to its mother’s — the Elephant equivalent of holding hands.

@sofia_noelle

Young Elephants often touch their trunks to their mothers’ as a way to soothe, bond and connect. Physical contact with their mothers can help young Elephants feel safe and secure while also helping them stay connected to the herd.

In the video, another Elephant appears to be dancing behind the mother-and-baby duo. While the video’s music track is perfectly synced to make it seem like the third Elephant is dancing, there may actually be something else happening.

Why Do Elephants Sway Back and Forth Like They’re Dancing @sofia_noelle

♬ awww so cute - Cherri ⁉️

Elephants often sway back and forth, which can appear as though they’re dancing, as a way of soothing themselves. The gentle rocking motion can sometimes be a physical manifestation of stress or even boredom.

These gentle giants may also sway back and forth when anticipating a routine event. Elephants sometimes weave or sway before feeding time or before a gate is opened.

Still, whether this Elephant is dancing or weaving, its moves are sparking major social media chatter.

“that other one just dancing in the background,” observed one commenter.

Another added, “the one in the back is just vibiinnn.”

“What’s that one in the back vibing to?” asked another.

While what’s on this Elephant’s Spotify playlist remains a mystery, one thing is clear: the only thing sweeter then watching a mother Elephant and her baby touch trunks while taking a walk is another Elephant dancing behind them.
