If a cat decides they don't like something, whatever it is had better watch out. A cat's wrath is genuinely unlike anything else: trust me, I know. I've been on the receiving end! When you love them, though, it's just something a lot of cat parents have to put up with.

Luckily for one Ragdoll kitten's parents, she's actually taking out a good bit of that Cat Wrath on something that's not them or their furniture: a balloon! As soon as she saw it, she knew she hated it, and she also knew she had to take action:

Pearl's Ragdolls are all raised in-house, with their parents, siblings, and any cousins/aunts that may be around. These kittens learn how to have a good time as soon as they're born, and the fun never stops. Well, at least in most cases.

Cat claws + balloon = fun is over pretty quickly, of course. This little kitten had to learn that the hard way! Now that she's learned how quickly (and loudly) balloons pop, I bet she'll hesitate around them moving forward, but I don't think she would fully give them up!

Do Cats Like Balloons?

Balloons can be equally fun and terrifying for cats, just like they are for humans. If a cat encounters a balloon, they're almost certainly going to try to play with it.

Cats will be curious about balloons, and they're going to love batting them around. Additionally, they make a super fun squeaky sound when you hit them! However, playing with balloons can also:

If you're lucky enough to have a vocal bird, there's no telling what might fly out of their mouth if they're upset. They're extremely intelligent, which means they know what they're saying, and they have no problem snapping back. I've never had a Parrot, but from what I've learned, they're a lot like human toddlers—always testing the limit!

One Hahn's Macaw named Theo gets "offended" when Mom comments on his appearance after he's plucked his feathers off. Luckily for her, all it takes is three words, and this sweet boy forgets all about the infraction.

Mom's comments about Theo's featherless look are all in jest, but his reaction to it is hilarious. Whether he's acting like he's angry doesn't matter because this Macaw is too precious, no matter what he's doing.

He all but melts when she says those three important words, "I love you," and he says it back—albeit a little annoyed and frustrated when he says it!

Macaws are so smart that they are capable of holding grudges. Compared literally and figuratively to human toddlers, they have the emotional capacity to remember people and events, specifically if you've scared them, broken trust, or even taken them to the vet.

They might show you they're upset with the silent treatment, refusing to interact with you or preen in front of you, through body language (ruffled feathers or crouching into attack mode), or even biting.

Experts say it can take a few hours to a few days to forgive. It can take days to months! To earn their trust back, let them lead the way, and don't force interaction.

Like with cats, dogs, and humans, reward them with high-value treats to coax them back to letting it go. They might forgive, but don't expect them to forget! It's a good thing Theo's so darn cute and that he loves Mom so much, or this might've ended in a totally different way!

That last one matters because Frenchie zoomies aren't just regular zoomies. They're furniture-rattling, zero-regard-for-obstacles, full-body chaos. They’re zoomies on steroids and it all starts with ‘The Stance’.

What 'The Stance' Means for French Bulldogs

The Stance is unmistakable. Ears forward. Body frozen but somehow vibrating like a car idling before starting a race. Eyes intensely focused on everything and nothing at the same time; daring you to engage or provoke. Back legs loaded and ready to launch.

This is your warning shot. The moment where time slows down and you think "should I move the coffee table?" But, you better be fast on your feet because what’s next always comes as a shock.

What follows: pure chaos. Frenchies take off like they've been shot from a cannon. They race around rooms, spin, slide across floors, bounce off furniture, and run in patterns that make zero sense.

The stance is their body getting ready to pounce and run. Their muscles tense. Mental focus sharpens. An internal countdown begins. And just like that... liftoff.

What Frenchie parents do: Clear breakables. Grab phones. Accept your fate. Because once The Stance appears, what's coming is inevitable. All you can do is get out of the way.

You can't stop it. You only have the privilege of witnessing it.

The best part? After about 30 seconds to two minutes, Frenchies act like absolutely nothing happened. Watching it in real time almost feels like getting a firsthand experience of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde the canine version. They flop on the couch, slightly panting, looking at you like "What? Why are you staring?"

Meanwhile you're standing there, coffee table moved, cushions everywhere, watching this bat-eared tornado pretend innocence.

That's life with a Frenchie. The Stance appears and then, the zoomies happen. Chaos unfolds and extrapolates. Five minutes later, they're snoring like they didn't just run seventeen laps at maximum speed.

If you have a Frenchie, you've definitely lived this moment, maybe even today.

Some dogs have terrible luck. While some are born to wear sweaters and be called pretty from the moment they're born, there are dozens of others who will never know love in their lives. If they're lucky, however, some of those dogs are rescued just in time.

That's exactly the case for this Golden Retriever. Her lot in life was particularly nasty: she was being sent to a slaughterhouse. Luckily, though, someone managed to swoop in and save her just before it was too late:

Poppy Evelyn has two Golden Retrievers in her home now, and she wouldn't have it any other way. Her first Golden's name is Nellie, who is just the sweetest girl in the world. Nellie grew up with another sibling who recently passed away, so she knows how to share.

We don't know anything about this new pup yet, except for the fact that she was rescued from a slaughterhouse. Most likely, she was going to be part of the dog meat trade, which is a part of several other countries. The sale, trade, and possession of dog meat is illegal in America.

Most likely, she was rescued overseas by an international advocacy group before being transferred to the United States, where she was adopted by Poppy, who adores her. The pup has had the most difficult start in life, but these days, she's really living it up:

She might never be able to replace her new mom's childhood dog, but that's not what they need. All they need is a pup to fill their home with love, and this sweet girl definitely checks that box!

How to Help Slaughterhouse Dogs

The fact that dogs are living in these conditions is horrifying, and the fact that a breed as beloved as the Golden Retriever is targeted is proof that no dog is really safe. In fact, the big, lovable breeds are some of the most common to see in slaughterhouses: bigger dogs have more meat.

From the United States, it can be tough to do anything to help stop the dog meat trade, since it's not common here. However, there are ways, like:

• Only supporting ethical breeders, if you choose to support breeders at all.
• Volunteering with international groups to help transport or foster rescue dogs from overseas.
• Donating to organizations that help rescue them.

You can also register to rescue dogs with those same organizations, just like Poppy did. They'll often even transport the dog to you! Be careful, though, you might get an even better dog than you ever thought was possible!

Even though I've never had a bird like Casper, I know Cockatoos are natural-born entertainers. Some are big talkers who chat up a storm, and others prefer interpretive dance, but they're all a real riot when they hear music.

You can make a Doodle out of literally anything. The only requirement is that you cross whatever other breed with a Poodle, and the possibilities are basically endless. Doodles are extremely common these days, especially breeds like the Goldendoodle, Bernedoodle, and the Schnoodle.

He's just a puppy, which means that Dani Elayne is currently watching him go through all of the phases, including his "I hate birds" phase. This is common for every dog, but breeds like the German Shepherd and the Poodle are sometimes especially aware of them.

This video is the aftermath of his beef with the geese. They definitely won, since the caption says that the geese weren't very nice. He probably ran up on one and got too close! Geese are very territorial. It's a lesson everyone has to learn once, but I can bet he won't be getting that close again!

His name is Benny. He's almost 11 months old, so he's definitely on the bigger side, but he's still a baby. He's got a lot left to learn! German Shepherds and Poodles are both super curious breeds, and he's total proof. For a good enough stick, though, Benny would do anything:

He loves his sticks. While they're not the best option for a toy, Benny gets to use them as a temporary solution sometimes: it's either munching on a stick or trying to munch on a goose! Only one bites back!

In the TikTok from @goldencleo, the precious puppy was ready to mingle as she wandered around in a dog park. Once Cleo spotted a potential furry friend, she conducted the standard sniffing and then lay down on her back to expose her belly.

"Cleo only introduces herself this way," the onscreen text explained, with the caption adding, "One belly rub please."

While many canines choose to greet fellow fur babies with their nose, Cleo took a different, more adorable approach. Maybe she was hoping for that coveted tummy massage, or she was offering her friendship in a more vulnerable manner.

Followers fell in love with Cleo's creative introduction, with some sharing stories of how their fur babies say hello.

"She’s letting the other dog know, I’m here for a fun time, not to challenge you," one pointed out.

"My pup does the same! She’ll bark and bark, and then once they get close, instantly submits," another posted.

Why Dogs Show Their Belly

Most dogs love a good belly rub, though there are reasons your fur baby may expose that adorable round tummy other than a good massage.

Canines show their belly as a sign of trust and comfort. That vulnerable position means they feel safe and secure, and have no need to take a defensive stance.

This behavior is also a way of saying they mean no harm and just want to be friends. Some dogs immediately show their bellies if they feel another person or dog is dominant, and they want to demonstrate their nonthreatening nature.

What Time of Year Do Bears Show Up Most?

Because of hibernation, bears are often spotted out and about starting at the beginning of the spring season and going into the fall. 

“This varies by region and species, but generally bear activity increases significantly in spring through autumn,” says Dr. Kathryn Dench, chief scientific advisor at Paw Origins. “Spring often brings increased sightings as bears emerge from winter denning and actively seek calories. Late summer and autumn can be especially busy because bears enter hyperphagia, a period of intense feeding where they consume large quantities to prepare for winter. That seasonal urgency can make attractants around homes especially compelling.” 

While these patterns are based on typical cycles, recent climate change effects have created certain overlaps. Dr. Dench says that “warmer weather patterns and human expansion into wildlife habitat also mean some communities are seeing more frequent overlap than in previous decades.”

What Should I Do If a Bear Shows Up in My Yard?

For those living near bear-prone areas, it might be impossible to avoid a bear encounter in your yard. If you happen to encounter a bear near your home, it’s best to keep calm and take control of the situation. 

“The first rule is simple: do not approach, do not attempt to feed the bear and do not try to 'scare it off' at close range,” Dr. Dench says. "Many dangerous wildlife encounters begin with people underestimating how quickly a large animal can shift from investigatory behavior to defensive behavior.”

Dr. Dench also says to immediately bring dogs and children indoors. Dogs in particular can agitate bears by barking or chasing. 

“Never corner the animal or block its exit route. A trapped bear is a far more dangerous bear,” Dr. Dench warns. 

If you are indoors, safely lock all your exits and attempt to make loud noises from indoors. “Speak in firmer tones from a distance until the bear decides to leave,” says Johan Siggesson, a wildlife photographer. “If the bear decides to stay, call the authorities. This is especially important if the bear is injured, acting aggressively or acting abnormally by being comfortable in the presence of a large group of people.”

How to Keep Bears Away From Your Yard

While it’s hard to know exactly what a bear might do next, there are a few things you can do to lower the chances of finding a bear roaming around your home. 

“Prevention is almost always about removing rewards,” Dr. Dench says. “Bears are intelligent opportunists with extraordinary scent detection. If your yard smells like an all-you-can-eat buffet, they will investigate.”

To keep access to food at a minimum, Siggesson suggests “securing trash cans, keeping pet food indoors, cleaning off grills, and picking up feeders, unused compost, and any leftover fruit. Systems using motion lights or electric fences may also serve as deterrents, but the most important thing is that you consistently prevent access to the food sources.”

Overall, your best bet to deter bears is to keep the area around your home clear and free from anything they may view as a source of food. 

Are Bears Dangerous?

Although it’s easy to feel afraid around bears, it’s important to note that they aren’t entirely aggressive and violent creatures. While it’s not recommended to walk up to a bear, encountering one doesn’t mean you need to fear for your safety right away. 

“Most bears prefer avoidance over confrontation,” Dr. Dench says. “They are not roaming neighborhoods actively seeking conflict with humans. However, they are powerful wild animals capable of causing catastrophic injury if they feel threatened, are protecting cubs, guarding food or become habituated to human spaces.”

As with most animals, bears tend to get violent when provoked. While it's not easy to control your emotions around these intimidating creatures, most accidents stem from human error. Dr. Dench says that the greatest danger often comes from human misjudgment, which includes actions like approaching the bear for photos, allowing dogs to engage, attempting to intervene physically or failing to remove food attractants. 

While bears have a reputation for being ‘dangerous’ animals, the truth is that they are likely as afraid as you are. Although it's not an ideal situation, finding a bear in your yard isn’t always a life-threatening event. Instead, it’s important to remain calm above all else and take preventive measures to keep bears away from your home in the first place.

Lilies may be happy flowers that add color to any table or nightstand, but these blooms aren’t exactly pet-friendly. 

“These flowers are extremely common in floral arrangements, yet many people don’t know that they can cause deadly kidney failure in cats,” says Dr. Liza Cahn, veterinarian at Embrace Pet Insurance. “Even nibbling on a petal, licking pollen from their fur or drinking water from a vase containing lilies can be toxic. Lilies are also considered toxic for dogs, although symptoms are usually limited to stomach upset.”

A tropical and luscious plant, the sago palm is typically found outside of the home, adding a splash of green curb appeal to your landscaping. Unfortunately, these plants are highly toxic to both dogs and cats.

The sago palm is “extremely toxic to dogs,” says Dr. Tony Coronado, vice president of emergency medicine for Thrive Pet Healthcare. “All parts of the plant, especially the seeds, cause severe liver failure.”

When the spring season arrives, the autumn crocus tends to be one of the most visible flowers you see. A low-maintenance garden plant, these plants bring a splash of happy purple to any yard. However, like the others above, it’s also highly toxic to our pets. It “causes vomiting, liver and kidney damage, and can be fatal to dogs and cats,” Dr. Coronado says.

A popular plant for filling up a space with greenery, pothos is a common sight in businesses and homes because of the large green leaves and the length it can achieve. While these plants certainly do add a touch of nature to any indoor space, pet parents should steer clear of this plant in their own homes. 

Coronado says they may cause “mild to moderate toxicity,” and notes that the pothos plant “can cause mouth irritation, excessive drooling and vomiting in pets.”

Unlike the other houseplants on this list, the only part of the tulip that is toxic to pets is the bulb. As the most colorful and vibrant part of the flower, the tulip bulb can be dangerous for pets in the home. 

“Tulips, with the bulb being the most toxic part, can cause severe GI signs and lethargy,” says Dr. Jordyn Zoul, veterinarian and vet advisor at Spot & Tango.

Although pet parents should be careful with their pets around these plants, accidents may happen. If your pet takes a bite of one of these or another toxic plant, it’s important to seek help immediately. 

“If your pet eats a toxic plant, time is of the essence,” Cahn says. “Contact your veterinarian, a hotline such as ASPCA or Pet Poison Helpline (expect a fee), or an emergency vet immediately. They will be able to advise you on what type of testing and treatment, if any, is needed. This may include inducing vomiting, fluid therapy, activated charcoal and supportive care to manage symptoms. Be sure to take pictures or bring samples of the plant to the vet. Don’t attempt to make your pet vomit unless instructed to do so by a vet.”

It’s not all bad news for plant-loving pet parents. Thankfully, there are still plenty of options to pick from if you’re looking to bring a bit of nature into your home. 

“Marigolds, roses, sunflowers and zinnias are great swaps for toxic blooms like tulips and daffodils,” Zoul says. “Indoors, calatheas, moth orchids, money trees, Boston ferns and air plants are all non-toxic options that are widely available and easy to care for.”

Coronado also suggests options like Areca palm, ponytail palms, African violet or a spider plant. 

When in doubt, be sure to ask your veterinarian or visit tools like the ASPCA website to double-check whether a plant may be toxic for your pet. 

While we all love adding gorgeous houseplants to our decor, keeping your pets in mind when choosing them can help you avoid costly and possibly lethal accidents. At the end of the day, there are still plenty of options to cater to your plant needs and your pet’s health.

As cute as Thurgood was as a chunky, wrinkled puppy, this sweet boy went mega viral in May 2025 for one of the funniest TikTok videos in existence. No, it's not another dog giving a sassy side-eye or performing happy hops.

A most unlikely duo is breaking hearts on the internet this week.

In a new viral video, we see a Coonhound and a kitten form an instant emotional bond, and it couldn't be sweeter.

The Coonhound named Duke claims the kitten as his own, showing true dog maternal instincts in their purest form.

The Coonhound's reaction is just so adorable, and I love how he carries around the kitten in his mouth!

This dog was born to protect this little kitten!

Why Some Dogs 'Claim' Kittens as Their Own

So why did this Coonhound have such a strong and pure reaction to this kitten?

It was driven by pack animal instinct.

Seeing a tiny kitten with her sweet face and meow tapped into the dog's primal urge to protect and care for this tiny creature.

Dogs can view kittens as vulnerable and in the same light as they would their own offspring.

We can't hear her meowing in this video, but if she were, that would also feed into the dog's need to protect her, just as he would with a puppy.

This then leads to licks, nuzzles, and lots of carrying the kitten around by the neck, as we see.

The licking behavior we see Duke exhibiting indicates that he has affection for the kitten, and it also reinforces social bonds.

When cross-species show affection in this way, it is known as allogrooming.

Good thing the kitten didn't seem to mind being carried around by Duke in his mouth, but actually, now the kitten's instincts are at play, and she knows that every lick and nuzzle is the dog's way of expressing that she is in his pack now and will be protected.

Clearly, this sweet little kitten is part of Duke's pack.

With the warmer weather upon us, there's nothing like heading out to the ballgame for some R&R and maybe a hot dog or two.

This is exactly what a blind, senior rescue dog named Earl Gray recently did with his favorite person in the world, and it's one sweet date for the record books.

Earl and his adorable hat could definitely be the next new Muppet! The precious boy enjoyed a baseball game with Mom, though I'm not sure I'd pay attention to any game with this stud sitting nearby.

As our dogs get up there in age, it's always a good idea to schedule more one-on-one dates with them so they feel as special as they make us feel. And 12-year-old Earl may not have grown up with his new family, but it's exactly why they're giving him only the best experiences from here on out. It's clear he's feeling the love!

Earl isn't the only senior in the house, either. He joined senior Corgi siblings Daphne and Crouton. Their senior adventures together are honestly the purest videos on the web.

Even something as simple as Mom and Dad coming home from work shows that these elder pups still have plenty of life, love, and joy left in them.

• Schedule regular vet checkups to nip new ailments in the bud.
• Feed them a senior-specific diet. Nutrient-dense formulas for older pups help keep things running.
• Make sure they're at a healthy weight. Carrying too many pounds around adds to joint pain and discomfort.
• Stay on top of dental health. It's easy to forget about teeth, but gum disease can lead to infections that can spread to vital organs.
• Support joint health mobility. There's nothing better than freedom, so keep them loose with slow walks or gentle playtime.
• Keep their brains engaged every day. Slow down cognitive decline by triggering curiosity (and it strengthens your bond).
• Make their beds extra cozy. They deserve the best sleep of their lives so they wake up feeling good.
• Ensure they're getting some kind of movement each day. This isn't only for mobility reasons, but for their mood.
• Pay attention to behavioral or physical changes. Report sudden shifts to the vet right away.
• Give them extra love and patience. This is obvious, but there's no limit to how much love these angels deserve, so let your heart burst wide open for them.

As I look over and see my senior rescue Staffy drift off to sleep, I can't help but wonder how many more days we'll have like this. I do know one thing: Every moment we have with them is precious. Whether it's a ballpark date or a good snuggle on the couch, senior dogs are the best dates!

Rescuing injured wildlife can be intimidating, but also it can be really entertaining.

Case and point with @its_a_farmily_farm on TikTok who recently went viral for documenting her hilarious side quest recusing an injured hawk who was down in the middle of the road and at risk of being run over and hurt further. The homesteader and farmer took the bird out of harm's way, and the entire video is a ride from start to finish.

The hawk was wrapped in towels and taken to a wildlife rehabilitation facility, but not before making some incredible faces and reactions to the camera, much to social media's delight.

What To Do When You See An Injured Animal

If you come across wildlife that has been hurt, injured, or is in trouble, the main point of importance is keeping the animal and yourself safe. Only intervene if you know for sure the animal is hurt or orphaned, and make sure to do so from a distance initially. It's also always best to involve professionals like a rehabilitation center or another wildlife expert, especially if you need help moving the animal.

Safety is of the upmost importance, so using gloves, towels, and a box is advised. And while it can be okay in some cases to give the animal water, definitely do not feed it unless told to by a professional. Also remember that in many states it is illegal to possess wild animals without a permit or proper licensing, so keeping an animal you come across is out of the question.

But depending on the severity of what you might be dealing with, maybe also consider getting your phone to record it for TikTok. We could all use the laughs.

Some dogs that are rescued from abuse or neglect have serious health conditions due to a lack of care and nutrition. Many of these canines often just need the proper medical intervention, along with attention and time to heal, to have a full recovery.

Rojo is an adorable rescue dog who recently became a resident at Old Souls Animal Rescue after being held at a shelter. The precious pooch was in poor health and even recommended for euthanasia, but Rojo showed everyone he's a survivor.

The TikTok from @oldsoulsanimalres told Rojo's story and described the poor condition he was in when he arrived at the rescue.

"This rescue dog’s intake notes at the shelter said to consider euthanasia," the caption shared as Rojo lay on the floor. "He was severely underweight, barely eating, and too weak to stand for long."

Rojo had a severe fungal infection that affected several parts of his body, and suffered from a heart condition.

"He was also battling Valley Fever that had spread to his spine and pelvis, along with a grade 3–4 heart murmur," the video explained.

Rojo Had More Life to Live

Despite all of his ailments, Rojo showed clear signs that he wasn't quitting and wanted to recover.

"In his first 48 hours at Old Souls Animal Rescue, we started to see him come back to himself," the story continued as Rojo gained more energy and began miggling with his fellow four-legged roommates. "Eating more. Wagging his tail again. And winning everyone over with his sweet personality and unmistakable underbite.'

Though Rojo still has more healing to do, he's definitely up for the challenge.

"His recovery still has ups and downs, but Rojo keeps showing us he’s not ready to give up — So we’re not giving up on him either," the video concluded.

The canine cutie clearly has a spring back in his step, along with lots of love and support from the rescue staff.
