Golden Retrievers Order Ice Cream From Floatie Like Summer Icons
Some videos feel less like content and more like a personal attack on everyone who isn't currently floating on a lake eating ice cream.
This Golden Retriever moment is exactly that.
@goldenchilidogoh to be a golden retriever #lakedogs #goldenretriever #summerdog
♬ Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride - Mark Keali'i Ho'omalu & Kamehameha Schools Children's ChorusIn the video, two Goldens are lounging in the coolest little pool floatie near a dock, living the kind of summer life most of us can only dream about while answering emails indoors. They're relaxed, golden, sun-kissed, and completely ready for service.
Then Mom walks up, filming with two ice creams in hand.
She asks if they want a little taste, which is adorable because these dogs are clearly already seated for their reservation. They're not just hanging out. They're dockside customers. They've arrived by floatie. They're waiting politely. They understand the assignment.
The post caption basically sums up the feeling perfectly: Imagine getting to be a Golden Retriever. No bills. No group texts. No errands. Just lake water, a floatie, a loving human walking over with dessert, and the quiet confidence that snacks will be delivered directly to your face.
@goldenchilidogcaught him breaking dog character again #goldenretriever #dog
♬ original sound - Ms.Kly - Klyracapinig✿🍒𐙚Honestly, it's hard not to feel a little jealous.
One viewer took it even further, joking that they'd like the universe to handle their next-life paperwork and send them back as one of these exact dogs. Fair. If reincarnation comes with lakefront ice cream service, I'd also like to see the brochure.
I love how casual the Goldens are about the whole thing. They don't look shocked by luxury. They look like this is simply their lifestyle. Of course, the ice cream comes to the floatie. Of course, summer belongs to them. Of course, Mom knows where to find them.
Golden Retrievers already have a gift for making joy look effortless, but this is next-level. There are no treats to chase. They're not begging in chaos. They're floating like tiny vacation influencers with better hair than anyone else at the lake.
The whole scene is pure summer. The dock, the water, the floatie, the dogs, the ice cream—all of it feels like the kind of soft, happy moment your brain wants to save for later.
Videos like this remind you that happiness can be simple. A sunny day. A little water. A treat shared carefully. And two dogs who believe life is supposed to be this good.
These Goldens didn't just order ice cream from a floatie.
They became the official mascots of summer.
Can Dogs Eat Ice Cream Safely? If your dog gives you those big, hopeful eyes during ice cream season, you’re definitely not alone. A tiny taste once in a while may be fine for some dogs, but it’s best to keep it simple, avoid chocolate or xylitol, and remember that many pups don’t handle dairy well. You can also try dog-safe frozen treats made with plain yogurt, pumpkin, banana, or peanut butter that don’t contain xylitol.
The American Kennel Club shares that ice cream isn’t the best treat for dogs because dairy can upset their stomachs, and some flavors or sweeteners can be dangerous. So if your pup gets a summer snack, keep it small, safe, and boring in the best possible way.
Because lake days are better when everyone gets a treat, but nobody ends the afternoon with tummy regrets.

Cats' Bewildered Reactions to Their First Night With a Crying Newborn Is All Too Real
The combination of cats and a newborn baby is always interesting. In this new viral cat video, where three kitties experience their first night with a human newborn, we get some highly relatable and entertaining reactions.
When the baby starts crying (as babies do), these cats have the most priceless responses.
@thebournegangvery concerned… #tabbysoftiktok #orangecatbehavior
♬ original sound - FourcatsandababyI love how they all stop dead in their tracks to try to figure out what that incredible sound of a baby crying is.
The Tabby cat seems so concerned, while the Orange Cat and the Black Cat seem more confused and quickly decide that it's time to exit.
Any cat parents with a newborn will probably find this highly relatable, especially during those first days at home.
Turns out this family has a fourth kitty, but perhaps that one was too afraid even to come out and see what was making the loud noise.
Related: 2 Obsessed Cats Keep Taking Turns Sleeping in Baby’s Bassinet
How To Help Cats Adjust to a New BabyThough videos like this make for very funny content, you do have to ask what families can do to help their kitties adjust to the presence of a new baby.
Being patient and taking things slowly is the first step. You don't want to force a relationship immediately.
Give your cat space to adjust to the new addition. Don’t corner them or restrain them and force them to get close to the baby.
They need to approach the baby on their own terms, and if that takes days or weeks, then that's OK.
Similar to dogs, when you first bring your baby home, make sure you never leave your pet and newborn alone.
It's also good to let the cat explore the baby’s items when the baby isn’t using them. So, if you bring the crib or other supplies home before the baby arrives, be sure to let the cat sniff and explore the items.
And as we've seen before, some cats love sleeping in baby cribs and beds!
Some kitties feel immediately protective of a baby, due to their maternal and pack instincts.
They may stay very close to the baby with a watchful eye.
Others, like this trio of felines, may just need a minute to get a grasp on what is happening and realize that crying is just a normal sound coming from this tiny human.

Golden Retriever Puppy Brilliantly Maneuvers Huge Stick Through Doggy Door, and It's Impressive
Both of my dogs like to collect items they discover outside. My Dachshund gravitates toward soft objects, like a random sock or plushie she may find on a walk. Her Pug brother has an affinity for small twigs and rocks, and often tries to sneak them inside. They still need to learn that what they find outside, stays outside.
Sally the Golden Retriever puppy seems to have the same inclination toward outdoor treasures, particularly sticks. Even though she's not allowed to bring any indoors, Sally found a way to override the rule.
@sally_thegoldenpupSally vs Dog Door 🐾 #goldenretrieverpuppy #goldenretriever #goldenretrieverlife #puppytiktok #dogsoftiktok
♬ original sound - SallyIn the TikTok from @sally_thegoldenpup, the canine cutie stood at the doggy door with a very large stick in her mouth. Sally immediately attempted to bring the long branch inside, but quickly noticed the door was too narrow.
"It won't fit," her mom told the precious pup.
But Sally would not be deterred. She placed one paw carefully inside as she sized up the height and width of the door. Despite her mother's "negativity", Sally pressed on and somehow calculated how to get the stick at just the right angle for a smooth delivery indoors.
The persistent pup devised her plan, situated the stick in her mouth for proper transport, and got it through the door. Sally dropped the stick in victory with an expression of pure pride on her face.
Followers gave props to the pooch and reprimanded Sally's mom for her lack of faith in the fur baby.
"Never underestimate a Golden," one remarked.
"She said, 'Bet me mom, it WILL!'" another posted.
"Sally's wondering if you're part of the solution or part of the problem," a follower pointed out.
"Did you really have to come at that sweet baby with that energy, that language?" someone asked.
Why Do Dogs Like Sticks?Various breeds other than Golden Retrievers have a love of sticks and branches. Their natural foraging instincts prompt them to hunt and sniff for just the right stick, then bring it to their parent to show their accomplishment. This behavior is a form of connection and communication.
Sticks can be shaped like bones, so the size and appearance are naturally attractive to canines.
Related: Golden Retriever Puppy Refusing to Sleep in Crate Brings the Cutest Toddler Energy
The texture of branches, twigs, and sticks are different from toys, providing a pleasant sensory experience for dogs. Chewing is naturally calming for a dog's brain, so it helps them unwind.
Dogs also find sticks just plain fun to fetch and find. Searching for and chasing after sticks are mentally stimulating activities and provide your pooch with healthy exercise.
Sally's mom needs to think of a different way to keep those sticks out of the house.

This Tuxedo Cat Folded Himself Into a Plant Holder Like a Furry Little Croissant and We Are Obsessed
Cats spend their entire lives proving that the expensive bed we bought them was merely a suggestion.
That's why I nearly spit out my coffee when I saw Ivan, a Tuxedo cat with absolutely no regard for gravity, folded into a macrame plant holder like a furry little croissant. Somehow, he looks completely comfortable, which raises even more questions.
@ivansaidwhatThis is just too much #fyp #kittensoftiktok #catreels #friend #pet
♬ Welp, Didn't Expect That - Yu-Peng Chen & HOYO-MiXIn the adorable video shared by @ivansaidwhat, Ivan can be seen peacefully snoozing inside the hanging plant holder while his cat mom talks to him. He briefly wakes up, stretches like he's been sleeping on a king-sized mattress instead of suspended yarn, and then immediately goes right back to sleep.
Frankly, if I slept in that position for 5 minutes, I'd need physical therapy and a heating pad.

Apparently, Cats Are Made of RubberAs the video continues, viewers get a better look at Ivan's impressive sleeping arrangement. One back paw appears to be functioning as a pillow while the rest of his body somehow remains neatly tucked inside the macrame cradle.
Naturally, TikTok commenters had plenty to say about the Tuxedo cat's unusual napping skills.
"The beans are sprouting so well this year!" one person joked.
"The fact that cats can sleep like that and not hurt their back and neck is something to be envious of, especially the older we get," another viewer wrote.
"So his back paw is his pillow? Does he give yoga lessons? That's impressive," someone else commented.
Meanwhile, another kitty lover summed up the situation perfectly: "I'm convinced cats have no bones."
Honestly, I think scientists could study cats for another hundred years, and we'd still never understand how they manage to sleep like pretzels and wake up feeling refreshed.
Why Cats Love Small, Enclosed Spaces @kittycatavenueMonty Ginge loves an confined space #gingercat #catsoftiktok #caktok #viral #fyp
♬ original sound - 9 cat armyCats are naturally drawn to cozy, enclosed spaces because they make them feel safe and protected. In the wild, small hiding spots help felines avoid predators while also providing a secure place to rest. That's why many house cats seem to prefer boxes, baskets, laundry hampers, and other oddly shaped napping locations over the expensive beds we lovingly purchased for them.
Enclosed spaces can also help cats conserve body heat and reduce stress, which may explain why Ivan looked perfectly content curled up inside his macrame plant holder. While humans might see an awkward sleeping arrangement, kitties often see the ideal combination of comfort and security.

Baby Rooster's Adorable Little Crow Is the Cutest Wake-up Call You'll Ever Hear
There are cute farm sounds, and then there is a baby Bantam Rooster sitting on someone's knee and trying with his whole tiny body to become a grown man before breakfast.
In the video, this little guy is perched comfortably like he has important morning business to handle. Then he opens his beak and gives the smallest, sweetest attempt at a crow. It's not quite a full rooster announcement yet. It's more like a rough draft. This tiny farm alarm is still in beta testing.
@thecarefreecoopThe cutest little crow I’ve ever heard 🥹 #babychicks #rooster #roostersoftiktok #babychicksoftiktok
♬ Hay Day "Farm Life" (Main music) - Supercell GamesAnd that is what makes it so perfect.
You can tell he's giving it everything he has. His little chest lifts, his neck stretches, and out comes a sound that feels like it should be written in lowercase letters. Not a bold "COCK-A-DOODLE-DO" just yet. More of a brave little "cock-a-doodle... maybe."
If you have ever wondered what a baby rooster sounds like when he first starts finding his voice, this is the answer: adorable, slightly confused, and completely unforgettable.
The Bantam thing makes it. These birds are already comically small—like someone shrunk a regular chicken down to pocket size—so watching one puff up and attempt his first real crow is a lot to handle. A friend of mine had one, and that little rooster became a neighborhood celebrity almost immediately. Impossible not to love him.
The internet, obviously, was ready.
One viewer even played the video for their own little rooster, Maurice, who apparently became very invested in the performance. This baby rooster may have accidentally started a tiny crowing masterclass for young roos everywhere.
I love this clip because it captures that awkward, hilarious stage when animals are growing into themselves. Puppies trip over their feet. Kittens misjudge jumps. And baby roosters try to crow and sound like someone squeezed a squeaky toy with ambition.
There's something so charming about a first attempt. He doesn't know he sounds funny. He doesn't know the internet is losing its mind over him. He is simply doing what roosters do! It just happens to be in the softest, smallest, most precious way possible.
This is the best kind of farm content, if you ask me. No drama. No complications. Just one tiny beak boy, one tiny crow, and a whole lot of people suddenly emotionally invested in his vocal journey.
He may not be ready to wake the whole neighborhood yet, but he has absolutely woken up the internet.
When and Why Do Roosters Start Crowing? If you have a young rooster, that first little crow can show up earlier than you expect, especially with smaller birds like bantams. Some start practicing while they are still very young, and those first sounds can be squeaky, short, or hilariously unfinished. You can support them by keeping the flock safe, watching for stress, and making sure any young rooster has enough space as he matures.
Brimwood Farm says that cockerels often begin crowing around 4 or 5 months old, on average, though some may start much earlier or later. Crowing can be tied to maturity, communication, confidence, and a rooster figuring out his role in the flock.
And if his first crow sounds like a tiny farm announcement whispered through a kazoo, congratulations, you are witnessing greatness in progress.

Tiny Dachshund Works as Shop Dog From Human's Pocket and Gets Fed Like Royalty
Most shop dogs greet customers at the door. Some nap behind the counter. And then there is this Dachshund puppy, who has decided the best place to clock in is inside a human's pocket, where the benefits package includes sandwich service.
The video is unfairly cute. The little bean is tucked into a man's pocket as if he's the assistant manager of the small shop, accepting bites of lunch like this is how working life should be. Just a miniature little one sitting there with the confidence of a tiny Dachshund prince who knows payroll isn't his department, but snacks absolutely are.
@k.e.makerSharing lunch with the smallest shop dawg #dachshund #runt
♬ Robin Hood Theme - Roger MillerYou can see why people love it. There's something old-fashioned and sweet about the scene that it feels like it belongs on a wall somewhere. A man sharing lunch with the smallest shop dog, both taking a break from the day, one like a regular adult and the other parked in a pocket like a warm little baked potato. It has that "somebody paint this immediately" kind of charm.
The shop dog part of this makes it better, too. He's living his working-class royal fantasy, tucked safely against his person while lunch is shared one careful bite at a time. It's the kind of moment that makes you stop scrolling because it feels simple and deeply adorable.
If you have a small dog, you already know this routine. They ask for warmth, proximity, attention, and exactly one bite of whatever you're eating. Then another one. Then maybe a tiny corner. Suddenly, you're negotiating sandwich rights with someone who weighs less than a shoe.
This puppy looks loved. He's close, included, watched over, and treated like the tiniest employee of the month. He may never run the register, but morale has never been higher.
Tiny Dogs Can Share the Moment Without Sharing the Whole SandwichIf you want to share your lunch with your pocket pal, keep it simple and tiny. Plain bits are usually the safest route, and you want to skip anything rich, salty, spicy, or loaded with ingredients that dogs shouldn't have. A bite can be a sweet bonding moment, but your pup doesn't need half your meal to feel included. (This is mainly a reminder for me.)
The American Kennel Club has some tips on which human foods dogs can and cannot eat, and it's good to keep in mind before handing over scraps. Many human foods are safe for dogs, but only in small, plain, and unseasoned portions, and some are just a flat-out bad idea. You can make your pup feel like royalty without a pocket or your whole sandwich, but keep a pocket handy just in case.

Senior Cat Claims Golden Retriever Puppy Brother's 'Bedroom' As His Own, and Paws Fly
Sibling jealousy is common, even in dogs. My Pug mix automatically pushes his way in when I give my senior Dachshund a hug. He can't stand not being the center of attention. And of course, my Doxie gets into a snit if she sees her Pug brother getting a snack that's a half a millimeter bigger than hers. They always want what the other has and aren't afraid to show it — and even fight for it.
Theo the senior cat and Meatball the Golden Retriever puppy seem to have the same dynamic. When Theo got a glimpse of of his fur baby brother's furnished crate, he decided to move in and take over.

The senior cat began pawing at Meatball's nose, obviously trying to make a statement, when their mom interjected.
"Theo, that is his kennel!" their mom reprimanded. "That is his room! Theo, get out of his room."
The feline fur baby backed off a bit while Meatball verbalized his protest of the uninvited company. As Theo curled up to get comfortable, the canine cutie sat up and started to get physical. The pretty kitty wasn't about to be intimidated and swatted right back.
Their mom tried again — unsuccessfully — to get Theo to vacate the crate, but the cat refused to leave.
Meatball Got Fed UpThe Golden Retriever puppy screwed up his courage again and swatted at Theo, though his paws never landed. As the older fur baby brother, Theo felt he held all the power and merely hissed at Meatball in response.

This Tuxedo Cat Looks Like a Red Panda and Runs Like His Entire Soul Just Left His Body
There's really nothing cuter than when a cat gets the zoomies. One minute, they're politely begging for a bite of your Taco Bell, and the next, they're tearing through the house like they've been possessed by the spirit of a bouncy ball.

His fluffy face, dark markings, and chaotic movements immediately reminded viewers of a Red Panda, and people in the comments section absolutely agreed.

And another viewer simply declared, "He has Red Panda energy."
As a cat person, I completely understand becoming obsessed with weird little personality quirks like this. One of the reasons we love kitties so much is because every single one seems to have been programmed by a completely different team.
Some cats are sophisticated.
Some cats are mysterious.
And some cats sprint through the house, looking like a sentient cotton ball escaping from responsibility.
Which, frankly, is beautiful.

Some will investigate, step right in, and splash around like they've been doing it for years. Others will sniff the rim, circle it twice and go lie down in the shade. A few will want nothing to do with it at all. And all those are normal dog behaviors.
A new pool introduces unfamiliar sights, sounds, reflections and textures. For example, the slippery feeling under their paws is a challenge for many dogs.
The good news is that with some patience, most dogs can learn to enter the pool on their own.
How to Get Your Dog Into the PoolThe big mistake most pet parents make is trying to force things. They push their dog into the water and hope for the best. Wrong!
Instead, start with curiosity, not pressure. Set up the pool empty and allow your dog to investigate it. Let your dog sniff the pool, walk around it and explore it without any pressure.
Every time your dog comes near, reward their curiosity with treats and praise.
Adding Water to a PoolOnce your dog walks in and out of the pool without hesitation, it is time to add some water. Start small with an inch or two. Hold a treat above the water line and let your dog lean for it. Putting one foot in is enough progress to reward with a treat.
Gradually add water, but let your dog set the pace. Some dogs will enter during the first session, others may need several days.
The good news is you can get this cheap pool at Target right now and have plenty of time to train your dog to enjoy it before the heatwave days of July and August come around.
Is It Worth It?For most dog parents, yes. The design is better than inflatable pools in day-to-day use, and the price is great for the quality you get. Similar products cost a lot more.
This pool is already selling fast at Target, so get yours now. If your dog loves it, you will have a backyard engagement play activity until September.

English Setter Puppy's Spotted Coat Makes Him Look Just Like a Tiny Giraffe
English Setter puppies are already adorable, but this one is especially unique because of his unusual spotted coat.
The English Setter puppy's coat is so remarkable that people can't stop comparing him to a baby giraffe, and the video is going viral for it.

You almost can't believe the resemblance to a giraffe's coloring.
One person wrote in the comments, "I know a giraffe when I see one, what a cutie."
Another said, "He’s beautiful. The spots of caramel. The vanilla."
If you love English Setter puppy content, then this is a great account to follow, as this pup, named Mr. Bill, was born in January of this year and has lots of cute videos.

How English Setters Get Their Signature SpotsSo how did Mr. Bill, the English Setter, get that beautiful giraffe-like coat?
All English Setters are born with mostly white coats, and then they have different degrees of pigmentation in shades of orange, black, or a flecking pattern known as Belton.
Belton is the name of the town in England where the dogs originated from in the 1820s (though a variation of the dog known as "Setting Spaniels" was seen as early as the 14th century in England).
According to the American Kennel Club, one of the two breeders responsible for the English Setters we know and love today was Edward Laverack, who standardized the breed and is the one responsible for the Belton coat, which makes the dogs so unique.
Then, another man, named Richard Purcell Llewellin, created the "Llewellin" line by breeding Laverack's dogs with other working Setters. These dogs are known for their incredible hunting skills.
English Setters can also have black flecking, in which they're known as Blue Beltons.
A dilute orange flecking is known as Lemon Belton, and then a dilute blue color makes them a Liver Belton.
The type of Belton they have is related to their eye color. A Lemon Belton or Liver Belton English Setter will have lighter eyes.
As for Mr. Bill's unique giraffe-coloring pattern, he could be classified as a Lemon Belton or an Orange Belton, as his white coat is covered with diluted tan, copper, and orange flecks and spots.
This combination gives him a coat that perfectly mimics that of a giraffe.

This Parrot's Morning Affirmations Are Better Than Yours
Talking birds can learn to say just about anything, which is why they're the coolest of cool. They're always watching, listening, and studying their people, so it's no surprise when they pick up something super cute. Some of them may even be your new inspiration for starting the day with some words of affirmation, so you can tackle the world.
Pickle Tickle, the Indian Ringneck Parrot, is the king of self-love. The talented, intelligent, and funny bird's words are sure to bring a smile to your face—and maybe inspire you to hype yourself up today, too.
@pickle.tickle.the.irnThe audacity of this birb! This was an eventful day and I’m wore out. I’ve got my two grand-birbs for the next five days. Please send help! 💜😮💨 #indianringneck #parrot #talkingparrot #petbird #birdtok
♬ original sound - It’s Pickle! | Ringneck ParrotPickle Tickle, the Parrot, must've been a life coach in another life by the way he's mastered the art of affirmation. Repeating he's a "saweeeeet bird" sets the tone for the day, and honestly, it's something we should all be doing, so thanks, Pickle!
Getting hyped is part of Pickle's morning activities, but once he's feeling good and confident, he can intervene with his mischief-making bird siblings (Gertie, the beautiful yellow Parrot, is known as the resident boss). The growling, telling her to "get back," then joyfully peeing in her cage is 100% a power move, but he's so adorable, he gets a pass.
Thankfully, things resolved between Gertie and Pickle. That's life with big personality birds. But if Pickle says "it's OK," then it is!

She shared with fans that she was initially nervous about how things might go with so many personalities under one roof, but added that Pickle is doing great with his guests and the new dynamic with multiple birds in the house is going well!
He really is such a good boy, and his sweet words of affirmation are only a part of his vocabulary. Many wondered how many words he knows, and thanks to Mom, we get a snapshot of his vocal talents:

They're widely regarded as some of the greatest talking birds with a few distinct traits, including:
- Clarity: Their high-pitched words are easily understandable compared to other talking birds.
- Ability to understand context: They're not your average birds who mimic humans—they learn to associate phrases with actions.
- Evolving: Indian Ringneck Parrots begin mumbling between 7 and 9 months old and eventually evolve into speaking clear words.
Parrots learn to talk through repetition, positive reinforcement (treats or food), enthusiasm and inflection in our voices, and most of all, consistency.

Trio of House Cats are Basically Human Roommates While Watching TV, and It's so Relatable
The indisputable best part of living with other people and having roommates is the built in socialization. You can catch up about your day, share meals together, and even bond over watching the same shows—often together!
It should be a surprise to no one that animals love this about living with each other, too.
Coco & Tiger is an account on social media dedicated to documenting the lives of the house cats in the human's lives. And the trio love to do things together. Even in the exact same way that their human counterparts might!
@c0c0tigerThey come running anytime they hear the TV turn on now 😭 #catsoftiktok #petsoftiktok #petlover #cattok #kittens
♬ Fat & Jobless (Pet POV) - PawVibeIn the video shared to the account, the trio are very focused on a particularly riveting episode of Cat TV on YouTube. They're all perched up on some chairs, locked in on their episode. Their owner even went so far as to compare them to iPad babies, and honestly? The comparison is not far off and probably very well deserved!
How Cats Bond with Each OtherCats bond with each other in a variety of ways, and it can result in very close relationships with their fellow felines.
Sharing scent with each other, also called "allo-rubbing" is a way to indicate that they belong together. Rubbing faces or bodies together swaps pheromones which signals that they're a pack and a part of a group. Grooming each other is a sign of affection and respect, and cats who truly trust each other will participate in this as a bonding activity.
When cats are very close they'll sleep together, often curling up together and even "holding" hands. Bonded cats love spending time together and won't just lounge together but will also play and even wrestle when they're having fun. Other signs of cats being close are nose touching, head butting, and other non-aggressive physical greetings.
Needless to say, the trio of cats watching TV together clearly love each other and are having a ball. Now if one watches an episode without the others, it might be a different story!

'Totally Broken' Street Dog Gets Movie Star Name and a Special Promise From Her Rescuer
Dogs living on the streets without a home is a global crisis and requires tireless commitment when attempting to make a positive difference. Niall Harbison created his Thailand animal rescue, Happy Doggo, almost five years ago and continues to be amazed by the love and resilience of the canines he comes across.
Harbison just rescued a dog brave enough to momentarily let her guard down despite being in fragile health. He gave her the name Marilyn Monroe as a sign of her regaining her beauty.
View this post on InstagramThe Instagram video from @wearehappydoggo told Marilyn's story and described the condition she was in when Harbison found her.
"Five days ago, this beautiful soul walked through our doors," the onscreen text explained as Marilyn sweetly approached Harbison. "She's an old girl and her body is completely exhausted. Marilyn was in desperate need of a miracle."
Marilyn barely had any fur and her skin was clearly damaged, causing her major discomfort and pain. She received medical care at Happy Doggo, along with love and support from her new furry friends.
"Our medical team immediately got to work, treating her painful skin," the story continued. "And our rescue dogs stepped in to show her the way, teaching her that she can feel safe, and that humans can be kind too."
Marilyn Monroe Has a Heart of GoldA previous post from @niallharbison shared that the sweet dog's health concerns included malnourishment, issues with her eyes and ears, and emotional trauma. Yet Marilyn got the courage to approach Harbison when he arrived.
"Despite being totally broken and ignored and forgotten about on the streets, with horrendous skin and aching bones, she waddled over to meet me and say hello," the caption read. "As her head rested into me, I could feel like she was a dog that was completely broken and begging for help, sick of being ignored."
Harbison was so touched by the dog's trust and attempt to reach out, he made a vow to help her heal and gave her the iconic name for a special reason.
"As the vets treated her, I whispered a promise in her ear," the text shared. "Her life would change starting today. She would get her dignity back. I called her Marilyn Monroe because she will be a beautiful blond again soon."

Harbison is keeping his promise and making sure Marilyn is getting everything from medical treatment and proper nutrition to tons of love and affection to help her recover.
"Her healing starts here," the video concluded as Marilyn relaxed in a hammock wearing a fresh new bandana.
Harbison launched Happy Doggo in 2021. In addition to the sterilization and daily feeding of thousands of street dogs, he recently opened a full-service medical clinic in honor of his beloved Golden Retriever, Tina, and a retirement village for senior dogs.

8 Words That Calm Dogs Instantly
Just like with people, dogs can get scared or nervous in certain situations and need reassurance to help them feel safer. When that happens, as a pet parent it's only natural to want to do anything you can to be there for your furry family member. Though, you may be curious how you should speak to a stressed dog in those moments. The good new is, saying calming phrases can help. That's why we rounded up 8 words that make dogs feel like everything is okay, according to a trainer.
After all, when things feel different or stressful, dogs start looking for clues that they're safe and for guidance on what to do next. And they will probably look to you. "One of the strongest sources of comfort for most dogs is the person they trust most," says Bridget Murphy, the CEO of Koru K9 Dog Training. "You are your dog’s person. You are the one to have the closest bond and the highest level of trust."
However, that trust comes with responsibility, and it's pretty profound. When something is off, your dog will want you to let them know if they're still alright. Below, Murphy shares what to say to an anxious dog and help them settle down. You may be surprised how simple these dog calming words are that will reassure your pup during a tough moment. By using them, you can be there for your devoted companion when they need you the most.

Words That Help Calm Dogs and Make Them Feel Safe Saying certain words and phrases can calm an anxious dog.Have you ever wondered, "How do I make my dog feel okay and safe?" If so, you're not alone. It turns out that what you say can go a long way when it comes to soothing a dog. Here are the best words and phrases trainer recommended using to improve their mood.
1. "Good boy/girl"No matter if you have a big or small dog, they're bound to feel uneasy from time to time. One calming phrase for dogs you can use is one you probably already know, but had no idea it could reduce anxiety. "There isn’t a time that a dog parent has said 'good boy' or 'good girl' without following it with love, affection or treats," Murphy says.
For this reason, Murphy says using "good boy/girl" is a great example of positive reinforcement training when your pup needs some reassuance in a scary moment. "If those words are consistently followed by affection, rewards, or positive experiences, they become powerful markers that let your dog know everything is alright."
2. "Go to Your Crate/Bed"This one may surprise some dog moms and dads, but trainers emphasize that using terms like “crate,” “bed,” or “place” isn’t about confinement or punishment when you instruct your pup to go there. Instead, it’s about direction, routine and safety.
When you send a dog to their crate or bed, you’re guiding them to a familiar, predictable space where they know what to do and how to relax. According to Murphy, this clarity is part of what helps dogs settle down emotionally.
“All good things happen there, and it is their safe space,” Murphy says. “Dogs generally relax more easily when they know exactly what is expected of them. A well-conditioned place, bed, or crate becomes a predictable refuge where the dog can settle down and decompress.”
In many cases, this simple cue can help reduce anxiety and reinforce a sense that they have nothing to worry about because your dog is returning to a space associated with relaxation and comfort.
3. "Sit"What if a single word could help a dog feel grounded, focused, and safe in an overwhelming moment? Trainers say that word is “sit.”
Murphy points out that “sit” is often seen as a basic obedience command, but in practice, it can do much more than that. “In reality, it often serves as a familiar task that helps a stressed dog shift their focus away from uncertainty and toward something they know how to do successfully,” Murphy reports.
Trainers say this easy action can be grounding, helping anxious dogs feel more stable and reassured. Over time, this simple cue can help reinforce a sense of comfort and help a dog feel safe because they understand what’s expected and can succeed in the moment.
4. "Yes!"When your pup doesn't feel safe, it can be hearbreaking as their pet parent, but what you say to your nervous dog can reduce your dog’s stress. In fact, “yes” might be the simplest word you can say, but for dogs, it can be deeply reassuring and act as a calming command as well.
In dog training, “yes” is used as a marker word, a clear signal that a dog has done something right and that a reward is coming. Trainers say this kind of positive reinforcement doesn’t just teach behavior, it can also help calm anxious dogs and make them feel safe and like everything is okay in the moment.
“When you reinforce the word ‘yes’ with a reward for a dog, it tells the dog they got it right,” Murphy explains.
Related: What to Do If Your Dog Gets Destructive From Separation Anxiety
5. "Come"If you're looking for dog anxiety relief tips, trying using the word "come." This recall command not only keeps dogs physically safe, but Murphy notes it also makes dogs feel emotionally secure.
"For many overwhelmed dogs, hearing 'come' from a trusted owner means reconnecting with the person who provides guidance and security," Murphy says. "It creates a clear path forward when a dog may be feeling unsure about what to do next."
6. "Let's play!"Sometimes words and phrases can distract your dog from whatever makes them feel uneasy. That's where terms like "let's play" come in handy.
"Engagement has a remarkable ability to change a dog's emotional state and improve your relationship with your dog," Murphy explains. "It encourages movement, engagement, curiosity and connection. When a dog is capable of playing, it's often a sign that they feel safe enough to relax and enjoy the moment."
7. "Treat? When it comes to reassuring words for dogs, this is one dogs love hearing. "Most dogs quickly develop positive associations with the word 'treat' because of what consistently follows it," Murphy notes. "The anticipation alone is enough to brighten many dogs' moods—and their owners'."
8. "Let's go!"If you need an idea to help with dog anxiety relief that can encourage your furry sidekick to be more relaxed, try saying "Let's go!"
This phrase is especially good to say outloud to your stressed pup because it lets them know they're not being left behind. What pup wouldn't feel more okay after hearing it? "Dogs are comforted by leadership, and this phrase communicates direction and purpose, and usually something fun," Murphy shares.

Tones That Make Dogs Feel CalmWhile words can help dogs feel like everything is okay, so does tone.
"Dogs pay far more attention to how we say something than the actual word itself," Murphy says. "A calm, confident tone communicates stability, while a frantic or emotional tone can accidentally signal that something is wrong."
Murphy recommends speaking clearly, calmly and naturally to help a dog feel safe. "Many pet parents make the mistake of using a high-pitched, worried voice when their dog is nervous," Murphy adds. "While it's well-intentioned, it can sometimes reinforce the idea that there is something to be concerned about."

A Mourning Dove Family Set up Home in This Flower Box Rent-Free—and They're the Sweetest Tenants Ever
People spend a lot of money trying to attract birds to their yards.
Meanwhile, Mourning Doves just move in and act like they've signed a lease.
One lucky homeowner recently discovered they had some very adorable new tenants, and honestly, I'd probably start referring to the flower box as "the nursery" immediately.
@fredcastillo957 ♬ Baby bird - Miguel PérezTikTok user @fredcastillo957 shared the sweet clip, which shows an adorable pair of Mourning Doves snuggled together with their tiny babies inside a flower box nest.
The whole bird family looks like they posed for an official holiday card. The parents are cuddled up side by side while the fuzzy little chicks peek out from underneath them, creating enough cuteness to temporarily cure all my problems.
Related: Cockatiel's Unlikely Friendship With a Pair of Guinea Pigs Is Melting Hearts Everywhere
And can we talk about Mourning Dove nests for a second? These birds are famous for gathering approximately three sticks, a leaf, and positive thinking, and somehow deciding, "Yep. That's a house."
Honestly, I respect the confidence.
The comments section was filled with fellow Mourning Dove fans.
"I love Mourning Dove nests. They find like 3 sticks and a piece of chewing gum and call it good," one person joked.
"The way these doves cuddle together is too precious," another viewer wrote.
"Mourning Doves are such beautiful, sweet birds that make such soothing sounds. What a beautiful family," someone else commented.
Another person pointed out, "They literally posed for a family photo."
One experienced bird lover shared an important reminder: The babies would likely leave the nest soon and may spend time hiding under nearby bushes while learning to fly.
As someone who spends way too much time watching birds in my yard, I completely understand becoming emotionally invested in a family you've never technically met.
Fun Facts About Mourning DovesMourning Doves are one of the most common birds in North America and are known for their soft cooing sounds, which many people find calming and peaceful.
Despite their sometimes questionable construction skills, Mourning Doves are devoted parents. Both Mom and Dad help incubate eggs and care for the babies after they hatch.
Baby Mourning Doves grow surprisingly quickly and usually leave the nest about two weeks after hatching, although they often remain nearby while continuing to learn important survival skills.
And yes, their nests really are famously terrible.
Bird people lovingly joke that Mourning Doves build homes with the enthusiasm of college students assembling furniture without reading the instructions.
Yet somehow, it works.
Which honestly feels like a life lesson.
