More than three decades after Elizabeth Manley took the ice at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, her free skate remains one of the most celebrated figure skating performances of all time. Sunn O))) delivered an exciting update regarding their 2026 headlining tour.

The rock duo composed of Stephen O'Malley and Greg Anderson is expanding its ongoing tour as it returns to the U.S. for a string of performances this fall.

Following back-to-back shows from March to April, the band returns for another round of high-energy performances, beginning on Oct. 2 in Louisville, Kentucky.

Fans will get to see Sunn O))) performing in major cities including Indianapolis, Cleveland, Boston, Charleston, Miami, Jacksonville and more before ending the 25-date run in Vancouver, British Columbia on Nov. 1.

“HAILS. Round two of our US tour is announced for autumn this year. Thank you,” the Instagram caption reads, along with the complete dates for the additional shows.

As for special guests, the band has yet to reveal which musicians will join them on the upcoming shows, simply teasing that support acts will be announced soon.

Earlier this year, Sunn O))) had been booked and busy, touring across North America from March to April before embarking on a European and the U.K. run that began in June and concluded in the second week of July.

The band’s continued touring comes in support of their new album, their first full-length release in seven years since Life Metal and Pyroclasts arrived in 2019.

Their 2026 self-titled album, released in April under Sub Pop Records, features six new songs.

Prior to its release, Sunn O))) teased the comeback album with the lead single “Glory Black,” which was released in January.

General Hospital star Rory Gibson is soaking up the sun in Hawaii and gave fans a brief glimpse into his fun-filled vacation.

The beloved fan-favorite actor shared the moment on Instagram from his vacation on the tropical island of Kauai, Hawaii.

While in Hawaii, it's been revealed that Gibson married his longtime partner, Alicia Ruelas, in an intimate ceremony. The couple began dating back in high school and had been together since 2011. The two got engaged in Maui back in October 2022.

Alicia confirmed the wedding in a now-deleted Instagram Story where she wrote, “AAHHHH! OFFICIALLY MRS. GIBSON!”

Gibson took over the role of legacy character Michael Corinthos beginning in May of 2025, following the exit of Chad Duell, who had portrayed the part for nearly 15 years, from 2010 to 2025. Duell vacated the role following his father's death and wanted to step back from the constant machine of working on a soap opera.

His continued toxic relationship with the mother of his children, Willow Cain, takes a toll on him as she is currently embroiled in a cover-up scheme after shooting her husband, Senator Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison), in the back and is actively poisoning him to keep him in a vegetative state. Michael is also enjoying his budding romantic relationship with Jacinda Bracken (Paige Herschell). Kai’s mother, the President’s ex-daughter-in-law and current girlfriend of pro golfer Tiger Woods, recently announced a breast cancer diagnosis. As the winner of the Immunity Pin from the last episode, Jaime Tan was given the power to award 5 minutes extra baking time to one team, while taking 5 minutes away from another. No shocker, she awarded the extra 5 minutes to her Asia-Pacific team and she penalized Team Africa with the loss of 5 minutes.

In 1971, James Taylor scored his first and only No. 1 hit with a song that had already begun life as a Carole King composition.

"You've Got a Friend" appeared on King's landmark album Tapestry before Taylor recorded his own version for Mud Slide Slim and the Blue Horizon. Released as a single later that year, Taylor's rendition climbed to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming one of the defining soft rock ballads of the decade.

The song was born out of one of popular music's most celebrated creative friendships.

Taylor and King first met while touring together, and it was during a run of shows in Los Angeles that Taylor heard the song for the first time during King's first-ever performance of the would-be hit.

"I was sure I knew the song already because it was such a classic immediately," Taylor said during an appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. "I literally ran to find my guitar so I could play it. Well, a couple of weeks later we were in the recording studio and we had already recorded tracks for two of my songs on the album, on MudSlide Slim. We had a couple of hours left and that's typically the time when someone will think of a cover and that's how we ended up doing 'How Sweet It is,' 'Handyman' and 'Up On the Roof.' It's just a spur of the moment, drop of a hat, we would do a quick arrangement and boom."

In that moment, only one song was on Taylor's mind.

"I had learned that song of Carole's and said, 'Let's play that song of Carole's!' She's in the studio making Tapestry," Taylor told Colbert. "And she's recording. Of course she wants to record that song, it's the best song written by a human being. So, I blithely go and record the song and we really liked the way it sounded, so I had to go to Carole and say, 'I sort of cut your hit.' She said, 'That's great.' It was typically generous."

King played piano on Taylor's version and also sang backing vocals alongside Joni Mitchell, creating one of the era's most memorable collaborations. Although the arrangements are similar, Taylor's interpretation leans further into the gentle acoustic sound that helped define the emerging soft rock movement.

Much to Taylor's surprise, King later revealed that his own song was the inspiration behind the now-iconic tune.

"She said, 'You know that line in 'Fire and Rain,' 'I've seen lonely times when I couldn't find a friend? That's what inspired that song, 'You've Got a Friend.''" Taylor told Colbert. "She said, I heard those lines and I was thinking to myself, 'I'm going to tell him he does have a friend.'"

Listeners immediately embraced it.

Released in the summer of 1971, "You've Got a Friend" reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and also topped the Adult Contemporary chart. The recording earned Taylor the Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, while King received the Grammy for Song of the Year as its songwriter, making it one of the rare songs to honor both the performer and composer in the same year.

Its enduring appeal lies in its universal message.

Built around simple acoustic guitar, piano and understated harmonies, the song offers unconditional support during life's most difficult moments. Rather than focusing on romance, it celebrates friendship and compassion, themes that have allowed it to resonate across generations.

More than five decades later, "You've Got a Friend" remains one of James Taylor's signature recordings and a cornerstone of the singer-songwriter era. It continues to receive regular airplay on classic hits and soft rock radio while serving as a reminder of the extraordinary musical partnership between Taylor and Carole King.

What began as a song written by one legendary songwriter ultimately became another legendary artist's first No. 1 hit. Together, Carole King and James Taylor created a timeless soft rock anthem whose message of loyalty and comfort remains just as meaningful today as it was in 1971.

Of all the rock stars in history, there are few (if any) who walked the walk like Johnny Thunders. Born John Anthony Genzale Jr on July 15, 1952, in Queens, NY, he would grow up to be one of the most unique and influential rockers of the era, a founding member of the seminal glam punk band the New York Dolls (and later, the Heartbreakers). From his signature spiky black hair and leather to his trademark gritty guitar sound, Thunders left an indelible mark on the music world. Over 30 years after his tragic death at the age of 38, fans and friends are still mourning his loss...and wondering what really happened.

The singer-songwriter/guitarist's love affair with rock started early, as his childhood friend Gail Higgins told Classic Rock, and he spent much of his teenage years catching live shows by the likes of The Who, the Hollies and Small Faces; he can even be seen in the Rolling Stones' 1970 concert film Gimme Shelter, watching from the audience at Madison Square Garden.

“We would drive eight hours to see the MC5 or The Stooges,” Higgins recalled. Soon enough, Thunders started playing the guitar himself. “Whenever he was practicing, I used to yell into the bedroom: ‘Give up, Johnny,’” she added.

His fellow Heartbreaker, Walter Lure, also shared a memory of seeing the young Thunders on the scene:

“He had high-heeled boots, velvet jackets and pants, bowling gear,” Lure said. “I’d see him at all the shows — mostly the British bands, as opposed to the Grateful Deads and Jefferson Airplanes — so I’d seen him around for years. Then when the Dolls started happening I said: ‘Holy s—t! There’s that guy.’”

Thunders' stint with the New York Dolls lasted long enough to make two albums, New YorkDolls (1973) and Too Much Too Soon (1974).

"The Dolls were for New York groups what the Sex Pistols were for British groups," said Richard Hell, bassist for the Heartbreakers.

Thunders and drummer Jerry Nolan left the New York Dolls to form the Heartbreakers with Hell and Lure in 1975 (with Hell eventually being replaced by Billy Rath). The group went on to tour the U.S. and U.K., releasing their only studio album, L.A.M.F., in 1977.

Mick Rossi, whose band opened for the Heartbreakers in the U.K., reflected on touring with Thunders in an interview with Guitar World.

“The sound he got was so uniquely his; the combination of the Junior and a Twin Reverb, cranked to the max and with a ton of reverb was what rock ’n’ roll should sound like," Rossi said, adding, "He was a lovely guy; my amp was crap at that time, so Johnny generously let me use his on our dates together.” 

Though L.A.M.F. was well-received critically, it wasn't a huge hit commercially, and the Heartbreakers broke up before long. Thunders went on to record a series of solo albums, collaborating with such iconic musicians as Phil Lynott, Steve Jones, Chrissie Hynde, Steve Marriott and Peter Perrett. One of those solo albums, So Alone (1978) featured Thunders' signature song, the often covered "You Can't Put Your Arms Around a Memory."

Unfortunately, Thunders, who famously struggled with addiction, had a reputation for being as unpredictable as he was brilliant.

“You always got the feeling that Johnny was hurtling towards something which wasn’t gonna end with him being able to do music,” Perrett told MOJO. "He didn’t seem to take care about his personal wellbeing, and maybe that was part of the appeal. But there were other, deeper sides to Johnny — his love and knowledge of rock’n’roll, his sweeter nature — that nobody ever really saw or understood.”

Thunders continued to tour and record throughout the '80s as a solo artist and with the reformed Heartbreakers, spending time in Detroit, Paris and Sweden. His goal was to eventually move to New Orleans, where he hoped to play with blues musicians.

That's not what happened when he got to the Big Easy, however. On April 23, 1991, Thunders was found dead by a member of the cleaning staff at St. Peter House Hotel in the French Quarter. The room had been trashed, and Thunders' guitar, passport and suitcase were stolen, in addition to $20,000 in cash. While his death was initially blamed on an overdose, an inconclusive autopsy showed that he was suffering from an advanced stage of lymphatic leukemia; it was also reported that the levels of drugs in his blood weren't lethal. Another possibility that's been continually raised over the years is that Thunders was murdered.

In his autobiography Lobotomy: Surviving the Ramones, Dee Dee Ramone remembered receiving a call from Thunders' rhythm guitar player, Stevie Klasson, the day after his body was found.

"They told me that Johnny had gotten mixed up with some bastards...who ripped him off for his methadone supply," he wrote. "They had given him LSD and then murdered him. He had gotten a pretty large supply of methadone in England, so he could travel and stay away from those creeps — the drug dealers, Thunders imitators, and losers like that."

Decades after his death, Thunders' legacy remains as beloved as ever. He was ranked #158 on Rolling Stone's list of the "250 Greatest Guitarists of All Time," and "You Can't Put Your Arms Around a Memory" has been covered by artists including Guns N' Roses, Ronnie Spector, Billie Joe Armstrong and the Hollywood Vampires. Fittingly, the song also played over the closing montage of the final episode of Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown, as the late Bourdain was a great friend and admirer of Thunders.

The teaser trailer just dropped for Behemoth starring Pedro Pascal, and fans are losing their minds.

According to the synopsis, Behemoth follows Alex Serian (Pascal), a gifted cellist, as he returns to Los Angeles after 20 years on the road. 

“Music, which has been the constant, all-consuming river of his life, begins to carry Alex on an adventure that will change him forever,” the synopsis said.

Although Pascal has worked on daunting projects like Game of Thrones and Gladiator II, he revealed in an interview with Vanity Fair that Behemoth was the hardest film he’s worked on.

“Holding a bow correctly alone takes a day’s lesson, and that’s moving fast,” Pascal said.

Even after doing his own stunts and handling swords on previous films, he said that this “was 10 times harder than any of those things because of the f—king cello.”

“Literally the hardest, hardest, hardest thing I’ve ever had to learn to do,” Pascal said. “Being in a gladiator arena or hanging from a harness — that stuff pales in comparison to learning how to play the cello and making it look convincing as you’re doing Tchaikovsky.”

Behemoth was written and directed by Tony Gilroy, who also worked on Star Wars’ Andor and Rogue One. He told Vanity Fair that he was struck by the orchestral landscape that surrounded them.

“You might have 30, 60, 90 players in a room, and they could hardly be more diverse,” Gilroy said. “If you look at them on the street without their instruments, they have nothing in common. The moment they enter the music and start to play, all that individuality … disappears. The whole job is to become a single, collective, communal, blended voice. It’s a really fascinating transformation. … I can’t believe no one’s made a movie about this before.”

When Pascal shared the poster for the upcoming film on Instagram, fans quickly took to the comment section to share their excitement.

“The Pedro Pascal Oscar campaign starts now,” one fan said.

It might be summertime, but Gilmore Girls fans can live out their cozy Stars Hollow dreams today for around $2.8 million.

Legendary thrash metal band Death Angel has been dominating the scene since its inception in the early 1980s. The Grammy-nominated band has been touring for decades, and its heading back to Europe to close out the year.

The "A Room With a View" hitmakers have announced the Act III European Tour 2026, celebrating the 35th anniversary of the third studio album, Act III, which was released in 1990. A monumental record in the band's discography, Act III was the band's final album release before its ten-year hiatus from 1991 to 2001. Upon its initial release, the record achieved mainstream success in Europe. It peaked at No. 17 on the French Albums Chart and charted in the Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium, and Hungary.

During the tour, Death Angel will be performing Act III in its entirety, kicking off in Brno, Czech Republic on Dec. 1 and ending in Hamburg, Germany on Dec. 13. Additional stops include Berlin, Germany; Eindhoven, Netherlands; and Roskilde, Denmark.

Joining the band on the tour is fellow '80s thrash metal band Vio-Lence, known for top tracks such as "Eternal Nightmare" and "Kill on Command." Tickets are on sale on Death Angel's website now.

Last month, Death Angel wrapped up the North American leg of the Act III tour, which saw the band perform the album in full along with classics and newer hits across its extensive catalog.

Later this month, the rockers will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of their critically acclaimed eighth studio album, The Evil Divide. A special vinyl reissue will be released on July 24, featuring the original ten tracks along with a bonus unheard song, titled "Wasteland."

Formed in 1982 in the San Francisco Bay Area, Death Angel was founded by cousins, lead guitarist Rob Cavestany and bassist Dennis Pepa, drummer Andy Galeon, vocalist Mark Osegueda, and guitarist Gus Pepa. The band's debut album, The Ultra-Violence, was recorded when Galeon was just 14 years old. In 2020, Death Angel were nominated for the "Best Metal Performance" for their song "Humanicide," the lead single from the album of the same name.

According to new research from BetMGM Casino, HBO's Emmy-winning series was the most-discussed television show across U.S. podcasts in 2026, outperforming both current streaming hits and even its own hit prequel, House of the Dragon.

Researchers analyzed more than 73,000 U.S. podcast episodes published between January and July 2026 that mentioned titles from IMDb's 50 Most Popular TV Series list. Game of Thrones appeared in 6,895 podcast episodes, earning the No. 1 spot overall.

The result is especially notable because the series concluded more than seven years ago. Yet it continues to generate more discussion than current favorites including:

• Stranger Things (6,192 mentions)
• From (4,456)
• The Simpsons (3,973)
• Love Island USA (3,579)
• The Bear (3,170)
• Breaking Bad (3,144)

Perhaps the biggest surprise is how far behind House of the Dragon landed.

Despite becoming one of HBO's biggest recent successes and expanding George R.R. Martin'sfantasy universe, the prequel ranked just No. 22, appearing in 1,073 podcast episodes (less than one-sixth of Game of Thrones' total).

The gap suggests that while House of the Dragon has built a devoted audience of its own, the original series remains the cultural touchstone people continue to revisit, debate and compare against.

The research also highlights the staying power of older television classics.

Alongside Game of Thrones, longtime favorites including The Simpsons, Breaking Bad, The Sopranos andThe Office all ranked ahead of many newer streaming originals, underscoring how legacy series continue to shape entertainment conversations years after leaving the air.

While new shows regularly dominate weekly streaming charts, Game of Thrones appears to occupy a different category altogether. Whether fans are revisiting controversial storylines, debating the series finale, ranking unforgettable character deaths or speculating about future Westeros projects, the show remains firmly embedded in pop culture.

52 years ago today, on July 15, 1974, Dolly Parton and Porter Wagoner released “Please Don’t Stop Loving Me.” The traditional-sounding tune appeared as the lead single from their eleventh collaborative studio album titled Porter ‘n’ Dolly. 

While not romantically involved, Parton and Wagoner shared a close relationship as business partners. So much so that Parton served as a permanent fixture onThe Porter Wagoner Show, where she spent seven years on the nationally syndicated program after making her debut in 1967. 

During that time, Wagoner was Parton’s manager and producer, and she considered him a mentor. Throughout the years, the pair co-wrote and recorded numerous songs together, including Top 10 hits like “The Last Thing on My Mind,” “Making Plans,” and “Just Someone I Used to Know.” 

They also released “Please Don’t Stop Loving Me,” which became their first and only Parton/Wagoner duet to reach No. 1. The track, which still resonates with listeners today, topped the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart, where it stayed for one week.

Lyrically, the rollicking “Please Don’t Stop Loving Me” opens with a catchy chorus, and Parton and Wagoner join their vocals together in effortless harmony while begging each other to stay committed to their feelings for one another. Parton showcases her distinctive songbird vocals on the first verse, doting on her partner, telling him that he brings on sunshine before Wagoner showcases his vocals on the second verse, expressing to his partner just how important her role is in his life. 

“Please Don’t Stop Loving Me” was released just months after Parton announced her exit from The Porter Wagoner Show. Though the track was a major hit for Parton and Wagoner, a different song would go on to become Parton’s signature song and a farewell to her collaborator — “I Will Always Love You.” 

To soften the blow of her leaving The Porter Wagoner Show, Parton wrote the lyrics to “I Will Always Love You.” Through the song, she communicated her gratitude for their friendship, but also made clear that she desired to pursue a solo career. After stepping away from the show, Parton would go on to release many hits as a female force in country music, including “Jolene,” “9 to 5,” “Here You Come Again,” and others.

Some songs are so culturally relevant that they serve as a sort of shorthand in movies and TV shows: As soon as you hear it, you're transported to a specific time or filled with a certain feeling (or both). Take, for example, "Get Together," released by the Youngbloods in 1967. It's been used in movies like "Forrest Gump," "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" and others (not to mention countless shows and commercials) to immediately evoke that "Summer of Love" vibe, and with good reason. Over 50 years since it first hit the airwaves, it remains the defining anthem of the era. Oddly enough, though, it didn't catch on at first.

While the Youngbloods' version of "Get Together" is the most well-known, it wasn't the first. Written by Chet Powers (otherwise known as Dino Valenti) in 1963, the song was recorded and released by the Kingston Trio, the We Five and Jefferson Airplane before the Youngbloods put their own spin on it, according to American Songwriter.

The Youngbloods' lead singer, Jesse Colin Young, first heard the song played at an open mic in Greenwich Village.

"It was a Sunday afternoon and I was walking through the Village and thought, 'Oh, the Go Go's gonna be dark. I'll call the band; we can rehearse,'" Young told NPR's Tom Cole, who praised "Get Together" as an "anthem for every season."

"I walked down the stairs and it turned out to be an open mic," Young continued. "I thought I would turn around and go home. But Buzzy Linhart was onstage singing 'Get Together.' That song just stopped me in my tracks."

As Young explained, the first two lines of the song really hit home at the time.

"'Love is but a song we sing / Fear's the way we die.' Wow — the human condition in two lines," he said, noting, "Back then we were all subject to the draft. That made everything more life and death. And hope is what comes out of that song."

David Freiberg of Jefferson Starship recalled being similarly affected by the song (initially titled "Let's Get Together") when Powers/Valenti first played it for him while he was in Los Angeles visiting a friend.

"In pops Dino Valenti driving in like a crazy [man] and says, 'Hey man, listen to this song I just wrote!' " Freiberg said. "And we listened to it and went, 'Oh my goodness! How great that song is.' And we're quickly writing down the lyrics to it."

The Youngbloods released their version, now titled "Get Together," on their 1967 debut album, The Youngbloods. At first, it didn't make a huge impact, peaking at just #62 on the Billboard Hot 100. That changed after the song was used in a public service announcement for the National Conference of Christians and Jews, prompting people to call radio stations asking for it to be played. The sudden surge in popularity grabbed the attention of record exec Augie Blum.

"Augie Blum, the head of promotion at RCA, went to his boss and said, 'I want this song again. Now's the time for it,'" Young explained. "And they told him, 'Now Augie, we don't do that. You know we released it once. That's it.' And he said, 'You release a song again or I'm out of here.' He was too valuable for them to lose. So they put it out again, and he was right, of course. The country was ready."

The second time around, "Get Together" went all the way to #5 on the Hot 100, making it the Youngbloods' only Top 40 hit.
