Complete Works of ‘Wuthering Heights’ 1800s Author is Now Free on Amazon
Brushing up on some of the most beloved novels in English literature just became far easier to revisit.
The complete works of Emily and Charlotte Brontë are currently available to read for free on Amazon through Kindle Unlimited, giving modern audiences access to the groundbreaking fiction that reshaped 19th-century storytelling.
The Brontë sisters, along with their sibling Anne, grew up in relative isolation in Haworth, Yorkshire, in the early 1800s. Daughters of a clergyman, they began writing from a young age, creating elaborate imaginary worlds and publishing under male pseudonyms to avoid the gender bias of the era. Despite their short lives, the sisters produced some of the most influential novels in literary history.
Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights, published in 1847 under the name Ellis Bell, stunned readers with its dark emotional intensity and unconventional structure. The stormy tale of Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff, bound together by obsession, betrayal and longing on the Yorkshire moors, was initially met with mixed reviews but later came to be regarded as a masterpiece of Gothic romance and psychological drama.

Its first-person narrative, moral complexity and fiercely independent heroine helped redefine what a female protagonist could be. Charlotte went on to publish additional novels, including Shirley and Villette, further cementing her place in the literary canon.
Wuthering Heights continues to stay relevant as its cultural legacy evolves. The novel has been adapted into film numerous times, beginning with the classic 1939 adaptation starring Laurence Olivier and Merle Oberon, and continuing through several modern reinterpretations. A new adaptation starring Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie, is currently generating buzz, introducing Emily Brontë's brooding antihero to yet another generation of audiences.
"The novel is a strange, beautiful beast. I always think, because Emily is a poet, that Wuthering Heights is more of an epic poem than a novel," said Wuthering Heights director, Emerald Fennell, in a recent interview. "I've read this book 100 times at least, and every time I feel slightly differently about it, and there’s stuff in there I've never read before."
More than 175 years after their publication, the works of the Brontë sisters still resonate for their emotional depth, rebellious heroines and haunting landscapes. And now, with their complete works available through Kindle Unlimited, readers can step back into the windswept moors or the corridors of Thornfield Hall without spending a dime.

Teyana Taylor on Switching from Music to Film: 'Everyone Told Me It Was Dumb'
Teyana Taylor is reflecting on when she felt ready to leave the music industry behind.
Taylor was featured in Time for the magazine's Women of the Year feature on Thursday, Feb. 26. In the interview, the Oscar-nominated actress recalled when she felt ready to leave the music industry in 2020 due to feeling unsupported.
"Everybody told me it was dumb," Taylor said. "And I was like, ‘No, I am going to be a great actress. One day, I am going to be a great director.'"
Taylor has starred in numerous films over the years including Coming 2 America, White Men Can't Jump, and One Battle After Another. She received a first time Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Perfidia in One Battle After Another.
Reflecting on her Oscar nomination, Taylor told Time, "Even if I go home empty-handed, I have won." She also said that the nomination has given her the opportunity to bond with her "awards season bestie" Jacob Elordi.
"We're young, we're blessed, we're being celebrated—this is the time to be happy and to have fun with it," she said. "Especially in a space that some people take so serious, and some people are cold, some people are robotic."
When sharing her hopes for the future, Taylor said, “I would love the EGOT. And if I don’t get that Tony, guess what that T is gonna stand for? Teyana."

Is Dr. Robby Breaking the Law on 'The Pitt?'
Unfortunately, in medicine, ethics and legalities are often at war with one another. On this week's episode of The Pitt, Dr. Robby appears to be at risk of crossing the line of breaking the law in order to provide a hospice patient with the best care possible.
Dr. McKay's patient Roxie, who has been battling metastatic lung cancer for seven years, came into the emergency room several episodes ago after breaking her leg during a seizure. The new injury caused her severe, unmanageable pain, and it quickly became clear that she's growing tired of it all.
She's on very high levels of pain medications, she's hired a death doula, and when she decides not to be discharged back to her home, she explains to her husband that she doesn't want him and their two sons to have to live with the presence of her ghost for the rest of their lives, suggesting that she feels her time on Earth is close to an end.
Treating Roxie Presents Challenges for the ER StaffWith no beds available to admit Roxie to, she's stuck in the ER for the foreseeable future, where the doctors struggle to keep her comfortable.
Will Roxie live to see the end of 'The Pitt's second season?Warrick Page/HBO Max
In the last moments of the episode, Dr. McKay approached Dr. Robby to discuss her pain management, noting that even on 10mg of morphine an hour, she's "still in a ton of pain."
Dr. Robby approved another 2mg an hour, but, as student doctor Javadi pointed out, "12 an hour is a lot." Plus, the IV medication was in addition to a long-acting oral form of morphine, which Dr. McKay worried could cause Roxie to stop breathing, as morphine is an opioid, which, in too high of a dose, can cause respiratory depression and even respiratory arrest.
In response to the risk, Robby pointed to the doctrine of double effect, a concept originally proposed by the philosopher Thomas Aquinas that defends an action that could cause significant harm if it would simply be a side effect of doing something good—i.e., risking death to alleviate excruciating pain.
"It is an ethical principle in palliative care," the attending explained. "We treat pain, and if, in doing so, there's a negative side effect, we accept it."
"In some cases, [death] could be the best outcome," he suggested.
Medical Aid in Dying Is Against the Law in the State of PennsylvaniaAlthough a bill was introduced by the Pennsylvania legislature nearly a year ago with the hopes of codifying the practice of Death With Dignity for terminally ill patients, also commonly referred to as physician's assisted suicide or medical aid in dying, it is currently illegal in the state, which begs the question: Is Dr. Robby about to break the law?
According to the law offices of van der Veen, Hartshorn, and Levin, "anyone that willfully helps a person take their own life could be charged with a second-degree misdemeanor," which could result in up to two years in prison and a fine of $5,000. Anyone, including physicians, who obtains or supplies the tools "to help someone else take their life," or are proven to have "confirm[ed] a plan to assist someone with suicide," could face the same charge.
Whether or not Robby's plan of action violates the law will most likely come down to his and his colleague's documentation in Roxie's medical records, and potentially the discretion of whoever QAs them as to whether or not the additional dose of morphine was worth the risk, or if its intention was to help her pass peacefully.
Perhaps next season we'll see him in Dr. King's position, gearing up for a stressful deposition.

David Arquette Admits He’s to Blame for This Unpopular Part of the 'Scream' Franchise: 'I'm Sorry'
Actor David Arquette says he's at fault for his ex-wife Courteney Cox's short and choppy bangs in the 2000 slasher, Scream 3.
During a February 2026 interview with Extra TV at the premiere of Scream 7, Arquette said he "take[s] full responsibility" for Cox's character, reporter Gale Weathers' haircut in the third Scream film.
"I'm sorry for the Scream 3 bangs," said Arquette, who began starring in the Scream franchise as his character, Dewey Riley, during the franchise's first movie, which premiered in 1996.
He clarified that he had envisioned Gale's Scream 3 bangs as more blunt, similar to what pinup model Bettie Page had.
"I suggested Bettie Page. Very blunt bangs like Bettie Page because she's got dark hair, too. Little pinup thing for Gale Weathers. Didn't work out that way," said Arquette in the Extra TV interview.
In a separate interview with Extra TVon the Scream 7 red carpet, Cox said she wasn't sure if Gale's Scream 3 look "was [Arquette's] idea."
"And if it is, he should never say that because it's a terrible idea," quipped the Friends star, who finalized her divorce from Arquette in 2013.
Cox also told Extra TV that Gale changes up her hairstyles in each Scream movie.
"So I went with bangs that time and it was a big mistake. But at least it's a conversation piece for the rest of time," said Cox to Extra TV.
Cox has appeared as Gale in all seven of the Scream films. In a February 2026 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Cox shared what the Scream franchise means to her. According to Cox, Scream "has given [her] so many gifts," like "fun and friendships." She also quipped that Gale's haircut from Scream 3 has been a gift.
In addition, Cox let the publication know that one of her favorite moments in the franchise is when Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) hits her in the first film.
"I really loved in Scream 1 when I said 'I'll send you a copy' and then Nev clocks me in the face. I liked that. That was fun," said Cox, who shares her 21-year-old daughter Coco Arquette with her ex-husband.
‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Pays Tribute to Eric Dane with Montage of His Most Memorable Moments
Grey's Anatomy is honoring Eric Dane.
At the close of the Thursday, Feb. 26 episode, titled “(If You Want It) Do It Yourself,” the long-running medical drama honored Dane with a one-minute montage of his most memorable moments, set to Snow Patrol’s “Chasing Cars.”
Dane starred as plastic surgeon Dr. Mark Sloan, better known as “McSteamy,” from 2006 to 2012. He later returned for a guest appearance in 2021 for dream sequence alongside his onscreen love interest, Dr. Lexie Grey (Chyler Leigh).
The tribute opens with Sloan introducing himself to Dr. Callie Torres (Sara Ramirez) before moving through a series of his most iconic scenes.
It closes with two of the character’s most poignant lines, including the speech he delivers from his hospital bed shortly before his death: "If you love someone, you tell them. Even if you're scared that it's not the right thing. Even if you're scared that it'll cause problems. Even if you're scared that it will burn your life to the ground, you say it, and you say it loud."
The montage ends with Sloan saying “don’t waste one single minute,” followed by a title card reading, “In loving memory of Eric Dane, 1972–2026.”

Dane died at the age of 53 on Thursday, Feb. 19—exactly 20 years after his first appearance on Grey's—following a battle with ALS, according a statement from his representative shared with Parade.
“With heavy hearts, we share that Eric Dane passed on Thursday afternoon following a courageous battle with ALS,” the statement read. “He spent his final days surrounded by dear friends, his devoted wife, and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world.”
“Throughout his journey with ALS, Eric became a passionate advocate for awareness and research, determined to make a difference for others facing the same fight,” the statement continued. “He will be deeply missed, and lovingly remembered always. Eric adored his fans and is forever grateful for the outpouring of love and support he’s received. The family has asked for privacy as they navigate this impossible time.”
ABC and 20th Television also paid tribute to Dane in an earlier tribute posted to Instagram last week.
"We are deeply saddened by the loss of Eric Dane. His remarkable talent and unforgettable presence on Grey's Anatomy left a lasting impact on audiences around the world, and his courage and grace during his battle with ALS inspired so many," the post read. "Our hearts are with his family, friends, and colleagues, as well as the many fans whose lives were touched by his work."
Grey's Anatomy airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC. Episodes are available next day on Hulu.

Vin Diesel Reunites With ‘Fast & Furious’ Co-Star in Heartwarming Moment
Vin Diesel delivered a heart-warming surprise to fans after sharing his reunion with the Fast & Furious co-star Helen Mirren.
Following the duo’s collaboration in the iconic franchise, they maintained their friendship behind the camera, sharing mutual respect and memorable off-screen moments.
Ahead of the highly anticipated final installment of the movie, the Hollywood actor teased fans with a glimpse of the legendary actress, who played the role of Magdalene "Queenie" Shaw in the franchise.
In an Instagram update, Diesel sparked nostalgia after posting a candid photo with Mirren as the duo were all smiles while celebrating their enduring friendship.
The three-time Golden Globe-winning actress stuns in a colorful ensemble while the actor sports his signature white tight-fitting tank top, evoking the look of his legendary character Dom Toretto.
Vin Diesel and Helen Mirren are seen filming "Fast X" on July 18, 2022 in Rome, Italy.“There are those that come into your life and make the whole world brighter…” he captioned his post, tagging Mirren.
The comment section was buzzing with fans who were thrilled by the reunion.
“Family,” a comment says.
“Beautiful picture,” a follower remarked.
“One of the most beautiful souls in this world,” one wrote.
View this post on Instagram“One of the best from the Hollywood scene,” a commenter mentioned.
“I'm loving this picture! Helen's Top is very pretty. I hope to see them both in the next FAST Saga,” an Instagram user said.
A follower jokingly nodded to the actress’ character, commenting, “Address her as the White Queen.”
Mirren officially joined the franchise during the eighth installment, The Fate of the Furious, where she played the matriarch of the Shaw brothers, Owen and Deckard Shaw, played by Luke Evans and Jason Statham, who were once Dom’s biggest enemies.
In a previous interview with PEOPLE's Beautiful Issue, the award-winning actress revealed that she “begged” to be in Fast & Furious.
According to her, she knew that they didn't hold auditions, but instead “they have to come to you.”
"I've never asked for a role, even if it was a role I really wanted to play,” she shared and mentioned how she managed to get the role.
"I think it was at Nobu, and there was Vin. I love driving cars — I'm probably not a terribly good driver, but I've always sort of fancied myself as a fast driver — and I thought it would be so cool to be in a film that was just about fast driving," the 80-year-old actress revealed. "I saw Vin and introduced myself and shamelessly begged him to put me in one of his movies. He very sweetly did and I am eternally grateful to him."
Her fangirling moment led her to appear in four installments, which are The Fate of the Furious in 2017, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw in 2019, F9: The Fast Saga in 2021 and the 2023 sequel Fast X.
As for the upcoming final installment, it’s unclear whether the British actress will reprise her role. However, Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Ludacris and other key members are reportedly expected to return.
Fast Forever is scheduled for release on March 17, 2028.

'90s Indie Rockers Announce 44th Album Following Breakup Rumors
Fans were devastated when the beloved indie rock band Guided by Voices broke up in 2004, especially because singer-songwriter Robert Pollard seemed against the idea of ever reuniting. Thankfully, though, the group's classic lineup did indeed get back together in 2010 — and they've been incredibly prolific ever since.
Even so, there have been rumbles lately about GBV quitting again, as Brooklyn Vegan reported...but the band's latest news seems to fly in the face of those rumors. Not only did they announce the release of their 44th studio album, Crawlspace of the Pantheon (due out May 29 on Guided By Voices Inc Records), but they also dropped the first single from the record: “We Outlast Them All."
“The entire song, the music, and melody was written all the way through in one take,” Pollard told Rolling Stone. “Could be our ‘We Are the Champions,’ but it’s not necessarily about us. It could be about any couple or group of people or organization that perseveres over a long period of time. If it is referring to us, it’s actually somewhat self-deprecating as the goal is simply to ‘seek to occupy the crawlspace of the pantheon.’”
Though GBV's members live all over the country, Crawlspace of the Pantheon was recorded in-studio (like their last album, Thick, Rich, and Delicious).
“I just felt that using that approach yielded a pretty good record,” Pollard explained, adding, “I think the performances were very tight and energetic so I thought we should go for it again — albeit a slightly more serious tone.”
Pollard went on to say that he worked "diligently on this set of lyrics."
“I chiseled away at lines and sections to make sure the phrasings were totally acceptable. I wanted them to have an overall emotionally conceptual feel. At times it feels somewhat autobiographical, especially a few specific songs. ‘Lost in the Sun’ I think is about being out on the road, maybe out West. ‘Out With a Theory’ is almost the ballad of the history of Guided by Voices. Namely the early- to mid-period lineups.”
According to Pollard, "everyone in the band turned in top-rate performances, which they pretty much always do. The album was fun, I enjoy it, and now it’s on to the next one. Without over analyzing, that’s pretty much the process and always has been.”
Whatever GBV's process includes, the formula is clearly still working. As for a tour, no announcement has been made yet...but fans are definitely hopeful.

Trader Joe's Shoppers Are 'Obsessed' With This Fridge Find That Lets You Snack Like You're in Italy
Every once in a while, Trader Joe's sneaks something into the fridge section that makes you pause and think, Wait, this feels kind of fancy. That's exactly the reaction shoppers have been having to Trader Joe's Sliced Bresaola ($6.99 for three ounces), a thinly sliced, uncured beef that's turning everyday snacking into something that feels a little more European.
If you've never had bresaola before, imagine the vibe of prosciutto but made with beef instead of pork—delicate, deeply savory and meant to be enjoyed without much effort. Open the package, lay a few slices on a plate, and suddenly it looks like you tried a lot harder than you actually did. And judging by what people are saying online, plenty of Trader Joe's fans are doing exactly that.

What to Know About Trader Joe's Sliced BresaolaTrader Joe's
Trader Joe's calls it uncured beef prosciutto, and that's probably the easiest way to explain what you're getting. The slices are paper-thin and ready to eat, which gives them more of a specialty-market feel than something you'd expect to grab during a regular grocery run. It doesn't eat like standard deli meat—it's lighter, saltier and more something you savor than stack into a Scooby Doo-sized sandwich.
Bresaola has roots in Northern Italy, where thinly sliced, air-dried beef became a way to preserve meat during colder months. Over time, it became something people genuinely craved, known for its concentrated flavor and tender texture. Trader Joe's version keeps things simple and approachable, which is why so many people keep it around for quick snacking. There's no prep, no slicing, no extra steps. You just open it and go.
With plenty of protein in each serving and a flavor that doesn't need much dressing up, it works just as well as a quick bite as it does as part of a more put-together meal.
Related: This New Trader Joe's Freezer Find Brings Mardi Gras Flavor to Your Kitchen
From Snack Plates to SandwichesThe nice thing is how easy it is to work into everyday meals. Some shoppers grab a few slices straight from the package when they want something savory but don't feel like cooking. Others fold it into sandwiches or layer it over warm pasta, so the heat softens the meat just enough to bring out more flavor.
It also works really well when you're throwing together a quick snack board. A little cheese, maybe some greens or fruit and suddenly it feels like something you'd order with a glass of wine instead of pulling together between errands. Even small additions, like a squeeze of lemon or a drizzle of balsamic, are enough to give it a boost of flavor.
That's probably why people keep reaching for it—it's simple, but it still feels a little different from the usual grab-and-go snacks.

♬ Food Documentary - Kley KleyLike many Trader Joe's products, this one seems to split people right down the middle. Scroll through forums, and you'll find strong opinions, and not always in the same direction.
On Reddit, one shopper started a thread with, "can we talk about the beef prosciutto," adding, "are my tastebuds weird?? why is it so bad." A few others didn't hold back either. One person said it "tasted like tree bark," while another wrote, "It's horrendous! I was so excited for this… Nope!" The seasoning came up more than once, too, with one commenter saying the nutmeg flavor was overwhelming.
But not everyone agreed. One Reddit user jumped in with a completely different take: "Anyone reading this: I bought some and THEN read this thread. So glad I didn't read the thread first because it's really really good. No idea what these comments are about, I found it delicious!"
TikTok comments took things in a slightly different direction, with people talking about how bresaola is seen in Italy. One commenter wrote, "in Sicily they call that the skinny beef!" and another added, "When I went to Italy they said it's what they have as diet food." Not everyone loved the flavor. One person said, "I feel like it tastes super cinnamony," but there were plenty of fans too, including one simple take: "I'm obsessed with it."
Even with differing opinions online, the people who love it tend to say the same thing—it's easy, flavorful and doesn't need much to make it work. Sometimes all it takes is opening the package and letting it do its thing.

‘Star Trek’ Actor Speaks Out After Receiving ‘Scary’ Hate Over Historic First
Star Trek: Starfleet Academy star Karim Diané, 23, is opening up about the messages he has gotten about his character, Klingon Starfleet cadet Jay-Den Kraag.
In a February 25 Instagram upload, Diané referenced that Jay-Den "is the first gay Klingon in Star Trek's entire 60 year history." He said that quite a few social media users have responded to Jay-Den by sending him messages that are "extremely negative and just very homophobic, racist, and some of them even scary." The actor stated that he will not directly respond to said messages.
"I never respond to negativity. It's not what I'm interested in at all," said Diané in his Instagram video.
He let Star Trek fans know that he has also received "so many positive, inspiring, beautiful messages" about Jay-Den and the Klingon's impact "from all kind of people, from all around the world."
"They've been so beautiful to read, and they really reminded me why I'm doing what I'm doing. They are the comments that you will see me engaging with. And that's that," said Diané in the video.
He also stated that he is focusing his energy on the kind messages, instead of the negativity that he's received.
"It makes me nervous to be this vulnerable online. But I think it’s important to share what this experience actually looks like from my perspective," read the post's caption.
Several 'Star Trek' Fans Shared Their Support for Karim DianéQuite a few fans shared their support for Diané and his Star Trek: Starfleet Academy character in the post's caption.
"I am enjoying Starfleet Academy, and I enjoy watching you and your character develop. Keep up the awesome job! And thank you for being a part of my joy in Star Trek," wrote a commenter.
"You’re an inspiration to both old and new trek fans. I always thought the show was about identifying with the characters. A show that has been inclusive for 60 years is always improving on that. It’s a joy watching u and your legacy will last forever," shared another.
"You and Jay-Den are what Star Trek has ALWAYS been about. Whatever the haters think they’re fans of, it isn’t Trek. I always think about how proud of you Nichelle [Nichols] would be. We’re lucky to have you AND Jay-Den in the family! Keep making history," commented a Star Trek fan.
'Star Trek' Star Robert Picardo Addressed the CriticismActor Robert Picardo, who co-stars with Diané in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, addressed the criticism toward the newer Star Trek shows during a January 2026 interview with Reel School. Picardo, who became a star of the sci-fi franchise in 1995 when his character, The Doctor, first appeared in Star Trek: Voyager, said that Star Trek: The OriginalSeries, which ran for three seasons until 1969, "was founded during the turbulent ’60s at a moment of real cultural and political turmoil." In addition, he said that Star Trek is about diversity and inclusion.
"Star Trek is as diverse and inclusive as it has ever been, as it should be. Because Star Trek leads. Science fiction dreams the dream and then science catches up with the dream. Star Trek leads our imagination and posits a better future," said Picardo during the interview.
Star Trek: Starfleet Academy began airing in January 2026.
1968 No. 1 Hit Was the Longest Running Rock Single of the '60s
Considering the Beatles are still considered the most iconic band in music history over 50 years after they broke up, it's no surprise to learn that the group had a whopping 20 number one hits and 34 Top 10 hits on the Billboard charts over the course of their (roughly) eight years as a group.
Not only did songs like "She Loves You," "A Hard Day's Night," "Get Back" and "All You Need Is Love" hit the top of the charts, but some of them stayed there for record-breaking amounts of time. As Newsweek reported, "I Want to Hold Your Hand" and "She Loves You" both spent 15 weeks on the charts in 1964, while "Let It Be" and "Love Me Do" both spent 14 weeks on the charts (in 1970 and 1964, respectively).
The Beatles' second-longest running hit, "Come Together," hit number one on November 29, 1969, and spent 16 weeks on the charts...but "Hey Jude" achieved an even more impressive feat. The piano-driven ballad became both the longest running single of 1968 and the longest running rock single of the decade, spending a staggering 19 weeks on the charts overall. "Hey Jude" even managed to hang out at the very top of the Billboard Hot 100 for nine weeks. (The longest running single of the '60s in any genre was the instrumental "Theme from A Summer Place" by Percy Faith and his Orchestra.)
As most longtime Beatles fans are probably aware, "Hey Jude" was originally called "Hey Jools" — and was written by Paul McCartney in an attempt to comfort John Lennon's son, Julian, as he dealt with the divorce of his parents (John and his first wife, Cynthia Lennon).
"I started singing, 'Hey Jools — don't make it bad, take a sad song, and make it better," McCartney recalled in The Beatles Anthology. "It was optimistic, a hopeful message for Julian: 'Come on, man, your parents got divorced. I know you're not happy, but you'll be okay.'"
John Lennon said he heard 'Hey Jude' as a song to himIn a 1980 interview with Playboy, Lennon gave his own take on the song's inspiration.
"[Paul] said it was written about Julian. He knew I was splitting with Cyn and leaving Julian then," Lennon said. "He was driving to see Julian to say hello. He had been like an uncle. And he came up with 'Hey Jude.' But I always heard it as a song to me. Now I'm sounding like one of those fans reading things into it."
"Think about it: Yoko [Ono] had just come into the picture," he continued. "He is saying. 'Hey, Jude' — 'Hey, John.' Subconsciously, he was saying, 'Go ahead, leave me.' On a conscious level, he didn't want me to go ahead. The angel in him was saying, 'Bless you.' The devil in him didn't like it at all, because he didn't want to lose his partner."
Clearly, the song was just as relevant and meaningful to the Beatles' many fans as it was to the musicians and their families...and the charts are proof.

Drew Barrymore Gets Emotional While Revealing Which of Her Movies 'Shouldn't Have Worked'
When Drew Barrymore shot one of her most famous films over two decades ago, she admits that she wasn't sure if it was going to work out.
During a taping of The Drew Barrymore Show on Thursday (Feb. 26), the longtime actress, 51, revealed that when she first signed on to star in 50 First Dates, the idea seemed too far-fetched to have widespread appeal.
"That film should not have worked. It's too crazy of an idea," Barrymore said while talking to an audience member who listed it one of her favorite films. "It's such a broad comedy but it has these incredibly dramatic, heart wrenching moments."
Barrymore went on to open up about why she loved the film so much, reflecting on the most important lessons that she hopes impacted viewers through the years.
"The reason I loved story is it is about how you have to make someone, not just fall in love with you every day, but you have to put in an amount of effort that makes them feel loved every day and cared for," Barrymore said.
She continued, "I haven't been, myself, in enough relationships where that got prioritized. And you got to do something every day to show someone you love them and it's so important."
Barrymore added that she is "so proud" to be a part of a piece of art that says, "make an effort every day."
"It doesn't have to be Herculean. It can be a gentle, soft little move. But that's what people deserve and they need in their lives. It's hard to be a human and we all deserve love. And we got to give that love too, it's not a one way street. It's a two way street," she concluded.
