1977 Rock Classic Became an Ultimate Summer Anthem

Sun, 05/31/2026 - 12:41pm

With their ever-present leather jackets, The Ramonesmay not be a band synonymous with summer activities, specifically going to the beach. However, in 1977, the influential band released the beloved surf rock-inspired number, "Rockaway Beach," off Rocket to Russia.

In June 2025, the publication Ultimate Classic Rock included "Rockaway Beach," which reached the number 66 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 in January 1978, on its list of "Rock's Best Summer Songs." According to Louder, the song's title comes from Dee Dee Ramone's (born Doug Colvin) appreciation for his childhood getaway, New York's Rockaway Beach.

A Member of the Ramones Discussed 'Rockaway Beach' in 2026

CJ Ramone, born Christopher Joseph Ward, who was a member of the Ramones in the late '80s and '90s, discussed "Rockaway Beach" during a May 2026 episode of his podcast, CJ Says. CJ said he appreciated Dee Dee's songwriting abilities showcased throughout the track.

"Dee's ability to take the everyday mundane stuff that a teenager would be doing at the time and turning it into poetic lyrics, just such a beautiful knack to be able to do that," said CJ on the CJ Says podcast.

CJ then compared the song to a tune from the iconic '60s surf rock group, The Beach Boys.

"He had such a great thing for making you see things through a teenager's eyes, you know what I mean?" continued the 60-year-old musician. "Literally, the Beach Boys were always good at that. You know what I mean? Like The Beach Boys had that down. They were really good at it. But Dee takes it kind of a step further in that he makes it specific to what it's like in New York in Queens."

While recording the podcast episode, the bassist theorized that Rocket to Russia was more popular than the band's first two records, 1976's Ramones and 1977's Leave Home, because of its iconic album cover, depicting the then-band members Tommy Ramone, born Thomas Erdelyi, Dee Dee, Johnny Ramone, born John Cummings, and Joey Ramone, born Jeffrey Hyman.

"The bright pink on the cover and the, we would call it now, pixelated, but the slightly washed out picture of the Ramones, you know, it's really great looking. It was back in the day, a lot of us bought albums just for the album covers.," said CJ on his podcast.

9 Dave's Hot Chicken Menu Items To Order—and 3 To Skip Entirely

Sun, 05/31/2026 - 12:06pm

You might not know this about me, but yours truly has a deep affinity for spice. Some might call it a problem, and to that I say, “Can you pass the hot sauce?” For as long as I can remember, I’ve been obsessed with anything spicy, and I’ve famously overdone it more than a few times. Like that time when I was 15 and convinced my dad to let me try Taco Mac’s Death wings. (You can probably guess how that turned out.) Despite a few hiccups, though, I’ll never pass up the chance to test my limits when it comes to heat, so of course I couldn’t pass up the chance to try Dave’s Hot Chicken and see if it’s really worth the hype.

Spoiler: It’s definitely worth trying at least once. Even if you’re not a heat-seeker like me, Dave’s has plenty of mouthwatering items on its menu, making it easy to curate your very own sampler spiced just how you like it. That being said, as a word of caution, the viral Reaper flavor that you have to sign a waiver for is indeed not something to play with. It’s hotter than hot, and that’s saying a lot coming from someone who snacks on raw serrano peppers now and then. (Lucky for you, I tried it so you don’t have to.)

Read on for my honest review of the nine Dave’s Hot Chicken menu items that are well worth a try, and which three you should skip.

9 Best Dave's Hot Chicken Menu Items

These were my favorite Dave's Hot Chicken menu items and the ones I couldn't get enough of.

1. Dave’s Saucy Bites (Extra Hot)

Courtesy of Kenn C. Bivins

Out of everything I tried at Dave’s, these were probably my favorite bite (pun intended) of the day. Granted, they're more like chicken nuggets tossed in sauce, but the extra hot flavor made them really pop compared to everything else on the plate.

While you can order them on their own, I got them as part of the new Dave’s Big Trio Meal that also comes with Hot Mozz, four Mini Sliders and your choice of three dipping sauces. Honestly, I’d probably just go for these next time.

2. Dave’s Hot Mozz (Hot)

Courtesy of Kenn C. Bivins

Like everybody else, I definitely went in ready to compare Dave’s Hot Mozz to Chili’s famed brick-sized mozzarella sticks, and honestly, these are pretty close. They’re definitely not the same as Chili’s, but there’s no denying that they’re also really good.

The breading at Dave’s is a bit on the thicker side, which makes for a very satisfying crunch, and the heat from the sauce really makes them worth going back for.

3. Dave’s Hot Hot Honey Dipper

As far as sauces go, I could’ve drunk this by the gallon. Honestly, Dave’s should bottle this up and sell it. Luckily, Dave's actually uses Mike's Hot Honey, which you can find at the grocery store. It was the perfect complement to everything. Hot Mozz? Dip! Mini Sliders? Dip! Fries? You guessed it. Dip! It was beautifully balanced with sweetness and spice, and yes, I took some to go.

4. Dave’s 4-Piece Mini Sliders (Medium)

Courtesy of Kenn C. Bivins

Surprisingly, despite the fact that these look like chicken nuggets on a bun, I actually enjoyed them and would order them again. They were tender and juicy, and the pickle really added a nice pop of acidity that they would otherwise be missing.

My only knock would be the Kale Slaw, which kind of feels unnecessary in the scheme of the sandwich. It probably works better on the larger slider, but here it got kind of lost. Also, I’d definitely up the heat to hot or extra hot next time. The medium sauce just didn’t have enough oomph for me.

5. Dave’s Spicy BBQ Dipper

Photo by bhofack2 on Getty Images

It’s hard to go wrong with barbecue sauce, let alone one that’s spicy, and Dave’s makes a really good one. Truthfully, the sauce made everything so much more enjoyable. It was smoky and thick in that classic Memphis-style barbecue sauce way, plus just the right amount of heat to keep things interesting. Dave might want to consider bottling this one up too.

6. Dave’s Hot Mozz (Lite Mild)

Courtesy of Kenn C. Bivins

Although I personally enjoyed the Hot Hot Mozz better, the Lite Mild flavored ones were also good. They were cooked to piping-hot cheese-pull perfection, and the subtle lift in flavor from the sauce made them taste a little more special than usual. The only thing I would’ve done differently next time is upped the spice level.

7. Dave’s Saucy Bites (Lite Mild)

Courtesy of Kenn C. Bivins

OK, so I guess I really enjoy Dave’s Saucy Bites. They’re perfectly juicy morsels of chicken, and the breading is fried to near perfection. You really can’t go wrong with these—unless you make the mistake of getting them tossed in the Reaper sauce.

That being said, compared to the saucy bites tossed in extra hot sauce, the lite mild was a bit too mild for a heat-seeker like me.

8. Fries

Courtesy of Kenn C. Bivins

Despite how ubiquitous they are, good fries are surprisingly hard to come by. While these aren’t hand-cut spuds fried in duck fat and tossed with fresh herbs at the end, they were the most picture-perfect example of a fry I could’ve asked for.

They were crispy and hot, lightly salted and truly did the work of completing the meal. The TL;DR of it all is, don’t skip the fries at Dave's Hot Chicken.

9. Dave’s Sauce Dipper

Everybody’s got a signature sauce these days, and Dave’s sauce is the perfect complement to anything on its menu. It’s kind of like Zax Sauce and Chick-fil-A sauce mixed into one. Whether you’re drowning your Hot Mozz in it or slathering it onto Mini Sliders, you’ll definitely want to get extra.

3 Dave's Hot Chicken Menu Items To Skip

These are the three Dave's Hot Chicken menu items I'd skip.

1. Dave’s 4-Piece Mini Sliders (No Spice)

Courtesy of Kenn C. Bivins

Although I highly recommend avoiding the Reaper flavor at all costs (more on that below), it kind of defeats the purpose of coming to Dave’s Hot Chicken to get chicken without any heat.

Sure, everyone has a variable tolerance for spice, but even my intensely spice-averse mom could at least handle mild. Without the spice, these mini sliders taste like nothing more than a chicken nugget on toasted bread.

2. Top-Loaded Fruity Pebbles Shake

Courtesy of Kenn C. Bivins

Dave’s Top-Loaded Fruity Pebbles Shake is a perfect example of genius marketing that entices you to try something...only for it to not even come close to your expectations. Personally, I wasn’t impressed.

You know how jarred pasta sauce sometimes tastes like “jar”? For whatever reason, I could taste the commercial soft-serve machine quality in the shake base here, which only made the generous Fruity Pebbles covering feel like even more of an afterthought.

It wasn’t the worst thing I’ve ever had by any means, but for $6.99, I’d rather grab a shake from somewhere else.

3. Single Tender (Reaper)

Courtesy of Kenn C. Bivins

As a certified spice fiend, I mean this sincerely as a friend: there is absolutely no circumstance in which you should ever find yourself teetering between whether to take the challenge and try the devilishly hot Reaper sauce or not. I’ll spare you the pain (literally) and just say to leave it alone.

It quite literally tastes like they figured out a way to turn lava into a flavor. Not only is it otherworldly hot, but it also just doesn’t taste good. There’s no flavor to the sauce whatsoever other than pure unadulterated heat. You’re absolutely not missing out on anything if you skip this one.

So, the next time you're at Dave's Hot Chicken, consider ordering some of my favorite menu items (and skipping the hotter-than-hot Reaper sauce). There's still plenty of spice and flavor to be found and enjoyed at Dave's even without its hottest sauce.

I Asked 3 Dermatologists Which Deodorant They Swear By—and They All Said the Same Thing

Sun, 05/31/2026 - 12:03pm

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Summer is on the way, hooray! But how is your deodorant situation? If you have the same container you bought many months ago, it may be time to stock up before the high temperatures hit.

There are so many body spray and antiperspirant options now, it would be nice to have a go-to brand in mind that you can grab and feel confident about when you're rushing to get to the beach, gym or your best friend's wedding—that's taking place outside in the baking sun.

When you're standing in front of an extensive store display, a lot of questions probably pop up that you meant to get the answer to, but never actually did, like, "What is the difference between antiperspirant and deodorant, anyway?" or "Did they ever figure out if aluminum is bad for you?"

After feeling a bit bewildered by all the choices available in the drugstore aisle, I asked three dermatologists which deodorant they'd recommend, and they all said the same thing! They also offer a couple of other favorites in case the #1 pick isn't quite right for you.

Related: If You Skip Deodorant for a Week, Here’s What Happens to Your Body

What Is the Difference Between Deodorant and Antiperspirant?

The answer to this question may seem obvious—deodorant takes care of odor, while antiperspirant keeps you from sweating, but how do their ingredients differ? How do the formulas vary in these products?

"For someone primarily concerned with odor, a deodorant may be sufficient, whereas those experiencing excessive sweating often benefit from an antiperspirant," Dr. Marisa Garshick, a board certified dermatologist, tells Parade.

Antiperspirant tends to use aluminum-based compounds that dissolve into the skin and plug the sweat duct, which stops the flow of sweat to that duct. Many deodorants skip the aluminum salts and have ingredients like baking soda or magnesium hydroxide, which neutralize odor-causing bacteria. Of course, many formulas have both.

Related: My 60-Year-Old Mom and I Have Both Been Using This Tallow Body Cream for Over 30 Days—Is It Worth Trying?

Is Aluminum in Deodorant Bad for You?

Dr. Garshick says there's no proof aluminum in antiperspirant causes serious disease, but you may want to skip it if you have sensitive skin, explaining, "Current evidence has not shown a definitive link between aluminum-containing antiperspirants and conditions such as cancer or Alzheimer’s disease."

"Aluminum salts are recognized by the FDA as the ingredients responsible for reducing sweat, which is why they are found in antiperspirants," she adds. "Although aluminum is considered safe, those with sensitive skin may find some aluminum-containing antiperspirants to be irritating."

Related: Doctors Are Begging You to Break This Super-Common Shower Habit ASAP

How Often Should You Apply Deodorant?

"For many people, deodorant or antiperspirant may be applied once daily, though this can vary depending on an individual and other external factors like activity level," Dr. Garshick tells Parade.

"Antiperspirants are most effective when applied at night to clean, dry skin, to allow the active ingredients to form plugs within the sweat glands to block the release of sweat the next day," she continues. "Some individuals may also choose to apply deodorant during the day to help maintain a fresh scent."

Do Natural Deodorants Actually Work?

Natural deodorants can work to absorb excess moisture and control odor, but they don't block sweat.

They are often formulated with ingredients that counteract bacteria and may reduce the feeling of being wet, "but because they do not block sweat glands, they will not prevent sweating the way antiperspirants do," Dr. Garshick explains.

"It’s also important to recognize that some natural ingredients and fragrances can still cause irritation in sensitive skin," she adds.

The Best Deodorant, According to 3 DermatologistsVanicream Deodorant for Sensitive Skin, $15

Walmart

Shop It at Walmart

"I recommend Vanicream’s deodorant for patients with sensitive skin because the formula is intentionally very minimal and avoids many of the common triggers that can cause underarm irritation, including fragrance, dyes, parabens and botanical extracts," saysDr. Alexandra Bowles, D.O. and Board-Certified Dermatologist at MONA Dermatology

"The underarm area is particularly prone to irritation because of friction and shaving, so I appreciate that this formula still provides strong sweat protection while remaining gentle and well-tolerated," she adds.

Dr. Garshick agrees, telling Parade, "It's free of common irritants and allergens, so this antiperspirant is especially good for those with sensitive skin as it still provides effective sweat and odor protection."

And Dr. Mary Lupo, MD, FAAD and board-certified dermatologist and adjunct professor of dermatology at Tulane University School of Medicine, picks this as her favorite as well.

"This product checks all the boxes for us dermatologists: no fragrance or dyes for sensitive skin," she says. "No parabens or lanolin for allergic people. No formaldehyde issues or parabens for those wanting something natural."

"I recommend Secret Clinical Strength for patients who are looking for stronger sweat and odor protection but still want a formula that feels relatively comfortable on the skin," Dr. Bowles says.

"Excessive sweating can be triggered by stress, heat and activity, so I like that this formula is designed to address multiple types of perspiration," she adds. "I also appreciate the addition of ingredients like hyaluronic acid, which can help support the skin barrier and minimize some of the dryness or irritation that stronger antiperspirants sometimes cause."

Salt & Stone Aluminum-Free Deodorant, $20

Sephora

Shop It at Sephora

"I like Salt & Stone’s deodorant for patients who prefer an aluminum-free formula but still want something that feels elevated and effective," Dr. Bowles tells Parade.

"The formula includes ingredients like prebiotics and seaweed extracts, which can help support the skin barrier and maintain a healthier balance of bacteria on the skin to help minimize odor," she says. "I also appreciate that it glides on smoothly without feeling overly heavy or leaving significant residue, since friction and buildup can sometimes contribute to underarm irritation."

The Napkins Everyone Is Talking About From Don Jr. and Bettina Trump's Wedding Are Available Right Now — and They're Under $40

Sun, 05/31/2026 - 11:44am

Now you can nab Donald Trump Jr. and Bettina Trump’s seriously romantic wedding style. The viral literary quote napkins the pair gave guests aren’t a custom creation reserved only for the rich and famous. These charming cotton cloths are actually available online for less than $40.

Love is in the air, and on your wedding reception table. President Donald Trump’s son and his new bride had a magical weekend wedding on a secluded beach in the Bahamas. And now you can own a part of it. At least, kind of.

Both Ivanka Trump and Bettina recently posted pics of absolutely adorable literary quote cocktail napkins. While neither mentioned the brand specifically, eagle-eyed fans seem to have found either the same or an almost identical item online.

Ivanka shared hers (on Instagram, in a carousel of pics from the family trip), with a quote from Victor Hugo’sLes Misérables, “To love or have loved, that is enough. Ask nothing further. There is no other pearl to be found in the dark folds of life,” while Bettina revealed (on her Instagram Stores) a different quote. Her photo featured Jane Austen’s enduring sentiment on love from Sense and Sensibility, “My heart is, and always will be, yours.”

While most celeb weddings include over-the-top extravagant accents that the rest of us regular people just can’t afford, Don Jr. and Bettina kept things simple. That means you can snag a pack of the Love Quote Napkins from Five Star Napkins for your own wedding, anniversary party, Valentine’s Day celebration, or any other special occasion.

Per the brand’s website, the 100% organic cotton napkins are available in white with black lettering, black with white lettering, and red with white lettering. Each 50-count set includes 25 different lovey-dovey quotes from iconic authors such as Jane Austen, Victor Hugo, F. Scott Fitzgerald, D.H. Lawrence, Charlotte Bronte, Leo Tolstoy, Michael Ondaatje, A.A. Milne, Nicholas Sparks, Charles Dickens, Thomas Hardy,Edgar Allan Poe, and Ernest Hemingway

As of late May, the napkins were priced at $34.95 per pack (50 pieces in each) and were available on Five Star Napkins’ website. But given the popularity of the now-viral wedding item, this could change.

Nancy Guthrie Update: Retired FBI Agent Sends Bold Message About Wrench Attack Theory (Exclusive)

Sun, 05/31/2026 - 11:14am

A retired FBI agent just sent a bold message about the popular wrench attack theory as Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie‘s mother, Nancy Guthrie, remains missing four months after her abduction in Tucson, Ariz.

Recently,  Jason Pack, a retired FBI special agent shared his thoughts on the theory that Nancy was kidnapped (and possibly tortured) by someone who was hired by a remote "mastermind" to extort money from her family. The 84-year-old went missing from her home on Feb. 1.

"Regarding the wrench attack theory, I’ll be respectful here because I know people mean well. But not one of us outside this investigation has read the case file," Pack told Parade.

He also pointed out, "We haven’t seen the forensic reports, the communications records, or the full body of evidence that investigators are working from every single day. The FBI and Pima County aren’t building their strategy around outside theories on cable news. They’re working from facts the rest of us simply don’t have access to."

Additionally, pack shared, "We all know that cyber scammers are also opportunistic. It does seem that the original communication to the family may have been real. Everything that followed has to be evaluated against that baseline. That evaluation is happening every day by people who have actually read the file."

Nancy was last seen at her Catalina Foothills residence on the evening of Jan. 31. Since she went missing, Savannah has offered a $1 million reward, and the FBI has released video clips and stills of a masked man on the 84-year-old’s front porch. Investigators, in the meantime, are poring through tips and video evidence, as DNA evidence, including a hair sample, is being processed.

Among the latest updates in Nancy's case is an unconfirmed report of Savannah spending roughly $500,000 on a private investigator. As of writing, no suspect has been named.

Following the news, the band also introduced his successor, Ruston Grosse, who worked alongside the death metal band Master.

"Just wanted to let all our fans, worldwide, know that we are beyond excited to start our European tour this coming week, and kicking off our intense summer touring schedule which will last into the fall and finish up in South America in October/November,” the official statement reads as cited by Blabbermouth. “We also would like you to help us welcome our new drummer!! Jelly Roll's Fan Base Keeps Growing — Now It Includes Ivanka Trump

Sun, 05/31/2026 - 10:49am

Ivanka Trump just shared photos (and a few videos) from a recent Jelly Rollconcert, and people have plenty to say. As it turns out, Donald Trump’s daughter is a massive admirer of the country, rock, hip-hop star, and her own fans are loving it!

The first daughter posted a carefully curated carousel of pics on Instagram, including shots of herself looking beyond glam in a gorgeous black dress with colorful accents and stealthy side cutouts. She also added a few clips from the concert and a photo of the set list (which led everyone to wonder if Ivanka got a backstage meet-and-greet with the performer).

View this post on Instagram

Trump (Ivanka, the is) also added a candid caption, “Heart full. Grateful for friendship, live music, and the kind of night that nourishes the soul.” She also added a special thank you to Jelly Roll.

Fans of both Ivanka and Jelly Roll took to Instagram, praising the president’s daughter and the concert with comments like, “I love that you love Jelly Roll,” “It was a joy to see him live,” and “There’s definitely something healing about live country music, well, and a margarita. Love this!”

Of course, Trump’s fans also raved about her look for the night. One commenter wrote, “Absolutely love your dress,” while others added, “Gorgeous” and “That dress.”

This isn’t the first time Jelly Roll and a Trump have been in the same place at the same time.

In 2024, the musician raised eyebrows when he cordially shook Donald Trump’s hand at a UFC match.

Appearing on his wife, Bunnie Xo’s “Dumb Blonde” podcast, the performer explained the moment and confronted the backlash from critics, “We were told that the president is the highest donor in the world. When you meet a president, that’s an honor, no matter if you like them or not.”

He continued, “If I got a call to meet Joe Biden, I would have stopped at any point and met him. I don’t care about what he thinks, or I think about policies. I don’t hide behind the I’m not political stuff. I’m not political. People who actually know me know I’m also one of the old-school dudes.”

This ‘Love Island USA’ Season 8 Star Boldly Predicts an End-of-Season Proposal

Sun, 05/31/2026 - 10:48am

A brand new season of Love Island USA is just days away from premiering, exclusively on Peacock, and the reality dating series is giving a first look at its Islanders, posting an introduction video of Aniya Harvey.

Harvey is a 23-year-old whose ideal neon sign is “Bad Bitch” preferably in neon yellow.

View this post on Instagram

She started her video off joking that she’s been single for “January, February, March, and April, May, June, July and August,” before adding that she’s been single for “6 months.”

The Tyrone, Georgia, resident explained that she is excited about “finding my prince charming” and shared that she’s “ready for love.”

She isn’t looking for just anyone. Harvey explained that though she is ready to meet her “person,” she is looking to be “courted,” adding, “No one wants a guy that's nonchalant, not giving you the time of day. You're giving loser, and no one wants that, and I've done the bums.”

Havey is looking for someone who is “handsome, smart, and some big fat juicy lips so I can bite on them.”

When asked to describe herself to something, Harvey said, “I don't know, like a mitochondria.” She laughed. “See, y'all didn't even think I would even come up with mitochondria. I'm just smart. It's just giving science.”

She shared that she is genuinely here to meet her person. Harvey hopes to play the long game, adding, “By the end of this, this man is literally gonna be on one knee. He's gonna be like, 'I just, I'm so in love with you, and I can just see us having a future together,' and I'm gonna be like, 'yes I do'.”

1963 R&B Classic, Reinvented by a Rock Icon, Became a No. 1 Heartbreak Anthem Years Later

Sun, 05/31/2026 - 10:38am

Fans are often surprised to learn that popular chart-topping tracks are actually covers of an original released years before. Music iconLinda Ronstadt took a 1963 R&B classic and made it her own, and became the only cover to top the Billboard charts.

Dee Dee Warwick released her first-ever single, "You're No Good," which was written by Clint Ballard Jr. It was also co-produced by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller and released under Jubilee Records. The track was a success for the singer and landed at No. 117 on the charts.

The track was shortly covered by another artist, Betty Everett, for Vee-Jay Records that had better succcess that Warwick's. The head of the recording label was looking for new tracks and originally intended the song for Dee Clark, but felt it was too negative against women. He instead gave it to Everett, and it peaked at No. 51 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.

The following year, the UK band Swinging Blue Jeans recorded their cover after the drummer's girlfriend brought it to their attention. Their version landed at No. 97 on the charts.

It wasn't until years later that the track gained immense fame when it was reinvented by Ronstadt in 1974. "You're No Good" became a heartbreak anthem thanks to Ronstadt, with its lyrics about talking about a singer who's glad she broke up with her ex. She details him as having been "no good."

Before it was officially recorded for her 1974 album Heart Like a Wheel, Ronstadt first began performing the track during her live shows at the suggestion of her bandmate Kenny Edwards. Recording "You're No Good" for the album was a last-minute decision and an "odd coincidence." It was recorded in early July, with Ronstadt and the group having originally intended it to be an R&B track close to the original. After one recording, Ronstadt vetoed it.

"It was just the wrong groove for me. I don’t think I knew how to phrase around [the players], certainly no fault of theirs. They were fantastic," she said.

After some debate by Capitol Records, "You're No Good" became the lead single for the album and topped the charts. It landed at No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100 and internationally, becoming the most successful cover of the track. Her album, Heart Like a Wheel, would also go double platinum and earn a Grammy nomination.

Despite the success of the track and its becoming a breakthrough rock classic, Ronstadt had her reservations about the track. She told the Los Angeles Times that, "I thought the production on 'You're No Good' was very good but [that] I didn't sing it very well. As a song it was just an afterthought. It's not the kind of song I got a lot of satisfaction out of singing."

2004 Film Was Just Named the 'Most Perfect Romantic Movie of the Last 40 Years'

Sun, 05/31/2026 - 10:29am

The enjoyment of a romance film can be entirely subjective, arguably more so than other genres. However, some romance movies, specifically released within the past four decades, are more praiseworthy than others.

For instance, the publication Collider recently released a ranking of "the 10 most perfect romantic movies of the last 40 years," which featured films like Past Lives from 2023, 2005's Brokeback Mountain, and 2004's Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

The 2004 film Before Sunset, which is the second movie in the Before trilogy, took home the list's top spot. According to Collider, the Richard Linklater-directed film deserved the title of the "most perfect romantic movie of the last 40 years" because of its effective storytelling, rooted in realism.

Before Sunset, which stars Ethan Hawkeas Jesse and Julie Delpy as Celine, has a score of 94 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and 91 on Metacritic.

Ethan Hawke Discussed Making 'Before Sunset' & 'Before Sunrise' in a 2007 Interview

In a 2007 interview for the documentary Ethan Hawke: Jealousy Is A Simple Waste Of Time, Hawke discussed making Before Sunset, a sequel to the 1995 romance, Before Sunrise. He noted that the premise of Before Sunset is that Celine finds Jesse again after he publishes a novel inspired by their brief romance in Before Sunrise. According to Hawke, Linklater came up with the idea after he visited the actor, who has published several books, on one of his book tours.

"I was at the such and such book shop in Austin, Texas doing this reading, and Rick was there. And he came up to me afterwards, he goes, 'What if this is how they met again, you know, they lost each other. And he wrote a book about her, and she came to the reading. And that's how they met again. Wouldn't that be great?'" recalled Hawke.

Hawke, who had already been interested in making a sequel to Before Sunrise, said he was immediately on board with the idea.

"I was like, 'Yes!' And that's how it started, so I mean the real life and film life are intertwined in a way that's impossible to take apart," said Hawke during the 2007 interview.

Hawke and Delpy reprised their roles for the 2013 film Before Midnight.

Country Star Announces Special Guests for Farewell Tour After Nearly 40 Years

Sun, 05/31/2026 - 10:27am

After nearly four decades as one of country music's defining voices, Alan Jackson is preparing to take his final bow, and he's bringing some major friends along for the ride.

Jackson announced via Instagram that George Strait and Lainey Wilson have been added to the star-studded lineup for his farewell concert, Last Call: One More for the Road – The Finale.

The event will take place June 27, 2026, at Nashville's Nissan Stadium, marking the last full-length concert of Jackson's touring career. The concert is expected to be one of the biggest celebrations of Jackson's legacy ever assembled, with more than 50,000 fans expected to attend.

In addition to Strait and Wilson, performers scheduled to appear include Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Luke Combs, Riley Green, Cody Johnson, Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, Jake Owen, Jon Pardi, Thomas Rhett, Carrie Underwood and Lee Ann Womack.

Jackson said the decision to hold the final show in Nashville was deeply personal.

"We just felt like we had to end it all where it all started for me, and that's in Nashville – Music City – where country music lives," Jackson said.

View this post on Instagram

The farewell concert brings the curtain down on one of the most successful careers in modern country music.

Emerging in the late 1980s, Jackson became one of the leading figures of the traditional country revival movement, helping bring classic country sounds back to mainstream radio during an era increasingly influenced by pop production. Over the years, he amassed dozens of hit songs, including "Chattahoochee," "Remember When," "Drive (For Daddy Gene)" and "Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)."

"Something I have to do every night that's fun, that song 'Chattahoochee,' I did years ago," Jackson told Country Music News in 2012. "It's just a lighthearted song. When I kick it off, people love that, and I’m talking about kids that are too young to have been around when it came out and people older. It connects with people, and I don’t get tired of playing it."

His influence stretched across multiple generations of country artists, many of whom will now share the stage with him during his final full-scale performance.

With George Strait, often called the "King of Country," and reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year Lainey Wilson among the latest additions, the event is shaping up to be one of the most significant country music concerts of 2026.

For fans, it will be more than a concert; it will be a celebration of a career that helped shape country music for nearly 40 years.

Color Psychologist Says Your Favorite Color May Be Connected to Type A or Type B Personality Traits

Sun, 05/31/2026 - 10:27am

Color analysis and psychology are having a moment in the 2020s—ditto for personality typing. Then again, did personality typing ever go out of style? From astrology to Chinese Zodiac animals to Myers-Briggs and enneagrams, there are plenty of ways to connect your birth date and core traits to a "type."

But color preference is another way to uncover clues about yourself. In fact, your favorite color may be connected to Type A or Type B personality traits. Color preference is never random, according to one expert.

"The colors you're drawn to are a direct reflection of your wiring—your upbringing, your culture, your emotional experiences and even your surrounding environment,"  Michelle Lewis, a color psychology expert, certified color analyst, author and the founder of ColorAnalysis.com and The Color Institute, tells Parade. "I've worked with thousands of clients with color psychology, and I can tell you with certainty: the colors you're drawn to are telling you something."

Lewis shares that your color preferences reflect how you're wired, your needs and, often, who you are at your core. She says it can tell you about your energy, the way you process the world and whether you lead from the front or serve as the glue who holds things together behind the curtain.

"It can reveal patterns in behavior and give language to traits people have always felt but never been able to name," she explains.

She is practical, though—she knows your favorite color won't tell you everything about yourself.

"Color psychology is one of the most powerful lenses I know, but it's still a lens, not a verdict," she clarifies. "People are layered. Think of it as one very revealing clue in a much larger story."

To help you get a sense of your inner narrative, she shares which favorite colors are connected to Type A and Type B personality traits.

What's the Difference Between Type A and Type B Personalities?

Generally, Type As and Type Bs have different approaches to life. Type As are more internally and externally intense, while Type Bs are considered more laidback and intuitive.

"Type A personalities are the go-getters," Lewis explains. "They're driven, competitive, decisive and time-conscious—the people who set the pace and expect others to keep up."

She says people with a Type A personality thrive under pressure, naturally take the lead and don't tolerate inefficiency well.

"The challenge [is that] they can burn hot," she reports. "Burnout, difficulty delegating and steamrolling the people around them are all very real occupational hazards of the Type A wiring."

On the other hand, Lewis notes that Type B personalities have an internal starting line. They look inward, then move outward.

"Type B personalities are... relaxed, patient and tend to move through life without the same urgency that drives Type A," Lewis notes. "That doesn't mean they're unmotivated. It means they’re deeper thinkers, taking time to process before acting."

Lewis describes Type Bs as "highly observant, great listeners and deeply collaborative."

"They don't need to be the loudest in the room to make an impact, and they tend to prioritize connection and quality of life alongside achievement," Lewis adds.

3 Colors Connected With Type A Personality Traits, Color Analyst Says1. Red

Lewis hails a red color preference as "almost textbook Type A."

"The urgency and intensity that defines Type A is written all over this color," she says. "Red is the color of strength, passion, courage, energy and action. People drawn to red are driven and fast-moving."

Red lovers have cat-like reflexes, able to react quickly. Taking charge is instinctual, as an attention-commanding magnetism comes naturally to people who prefer red.

2. Magenta

Lewis calls magenta red's "bold, opinionated cousin."

"People who love magenta are assertive, outspoken and deeply passionate about their beliefs," she explains. "They have a strong point of view, and they're not afraid to push it publicly."

The color analyst says that the same motivation to achieve that drives Type As pushes a mangenta fan's desire to make an impact.

"They align with people who share their convictions and move through the world with a sense of mission," she adds.

3. Yellow

You may be surprised to see this sunshine color linked to a personality that exudes fiery traits. Then again, the sun does bring the heat.

"Yellow lovers are energetic, social and relentlessly focused on the future," Lewis notes. "They're sunny and optimistic, but underneath that brightness is someone who rarely slows down and can struggle to stay grounded in the present, which is very Type A in its own way."

Yellow lovers don't share the same red-like aggressive drive. But their fire burns consistently.

"Yellow personalities keep going, keep engaging and keep producing," she says. "Their biggest challenge, like many Type As, is knowing when to stop."

3 Colors Connected With Type B Personality Traits, Color Analyst Says1. Blue

Lewis calls blue "the quintessential Type B color.

"Blue lovers are introspective, calm and thoughtful," Lewis reports. "They think before they speak and prefer to process before they act."

She reports that people drawn to blue tend to keep their environments peaceful and relationships clear as the ocean.

"Blue personalities slow down to make sure they understand what they're walking into," she says. "They're intelligent, steady and almost immune to the kind of reactive urgency that defines Type A."

2. Green

Lewis reports that people who like green serve as stabilizing forces.

"They're warm, dependable, deeply supportive and naturally attuned to the people around them," she points out. "Green is the color of balance and regeneration, and the people drawn to it tend to embody exactly that."

She shares that green lovers aren't laser-focused on the next win.

"They're making sure everyone around them is OK first," she says. "That nurturing, grounded energy is classic Type B."

3. Orange

Orange is bold, but in a way Lewis describes as "warm, sociable and deeply comfortable to be around."

"Orange personalities... create the kind of environment where everyone feels welcome and feels like they belong," she explains. "Orange lovers are playful, conversational and abundant in their energy, but it's an inviting energy, not a competitive one."

Like green lovers, people who prefer orange aren't in it to win it in a hyper-competitive sense. It's a connection they crave.

"That ease and warmth are very much in the Type B spirit," she states.

Final Takeaways

Color psychology studies how colors affect your emotions, behavior and personality. Certain color preferences may be associated with certain personality types, including Type A and Type B. Here's what to remember:

  • Type A and Type B personalities approach life differently. Type As tend to be hyper-competitive and more intense. They chase wins and naturally take charge. Type Bs look inward, then proceed outward. They desire calm and connection.
  • A preference for bold colors is associated with Type A traits. Red, magenta and yellow exude constant—and sometimes intense—energy.
  • Warm, more muted colors have Type B energy. Think calm blue, grounding green and sweetly effervescent orange.

1902 Mystery, Named One of the Greatest Classic Novels Under 200 Pages, Can Be Read in One Sitting

Sun, 05/31/2026 - 10:02am

If you’re in the mood to read a classic novel but don’t have the time to sit down with a lengthy book, there are plenty of short and sweet stories that you can read in a single day. Literary Hub recently compiled a list of “Great Classic Novels Under 200 Pages” that contain iconic stories like Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck and Animal Farm by George Orwell.

One of the most beloved novels on the list is The Hound of the Baskervilles by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The creator of Sherlock Holmes wrote over 50 short stories and several novels about the detective throughout his career, but The Hound of the Baskervilles is arguably his most famous.

This story, which was originally serialized in The Strand Magazine from 1901 until 1902, has a 4.6 rating on Amazon with over 3,000 reviewers. The novel follows “an attempted murder inspired by the legend of a fearsome, diabolical hound of supernatural origin.”

As one reviewer stated, "The twists and turns of the plot were clearly ahead of their time and seem to be something one might see on television today. Doyle does a fantastic job keeping readers interested until the very end."

Related: 2009 Stephen King Novel Named One of His ‘Most Suspenseful’ Took Him 3 Decades To Write

This novel was adapted into a 2012 episode for the hit BBC series, Sherlock. The writer, Mark Gatiss, spoke about the adaptation with CultBox, explaining, “It’s the most famous story because it was written after Doyle had killed Sherlock Holmes off, then he wanted to write this ghostly story about a phantom hound and decided to do it as a past adventure. It was the biggest publishing phenomenon ever; it’s incredible, that’s why people know it so well. So we had to do it!”

Gatiss was referring to the fact that Doyle killed off Sherlock in the 1893 story, “The Final Problem,” since he was tired of writing about the detective. However, he eventually brought Sherlock back after public demand.

Gatiss continued, “It’s quite intimidating because it is so famous. In a funny kind of way, I felt there were several touchstones in the original book that I had to keep in a way that you wouldn’t with other stories. There are certain things with The Hound of the Baskervilles that you have to have, so I tried to keep them all in, not necessarily in the same order. One of the most fun things is that because it’s so famous and it’s been done so many times people think they know the story well. So at any stage where you can actually just flip it or surprise people, that was very fun.”

1999 Sci-Fi Film Was Just Named the 'Greatest '90s Movie' Worth Rewatching

Sun, 05/31/2026 - 9:58am

Most movie enthusiasts will agree that there are plenty of captivating '90s films that actually improve upon a revisit.

For instance, the publication Collider recently shared a list of "the 10 greatest '90s movies worth watching over and over," which spotlighted popular films like 1994's Forrest Gump, Terminator 2: Judgment Day from 1991, 1995's Before Sunrise, and Jurassic Park, released in 1993.

Collider put the 1999 science fiction film The Matrix at the top spot. According to the publication, The Matrix deserves such recognition because of how impactful it is in the world of film, in terms of its effects and the topics it tackles.

Lilly Wachowski Shared How She & Her Sister Ended up Directing 'The Matrix'

Lilly Wachowski, who co-wrote and co-directed The Matrix with her sisterLana Wachowski, shared how Warner Bros. ended up taking on the project in a 2025 interview for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. She explained that she and Lana, who co-directed the 1996 movie Bound, had been "working on comic books at the time" when they began brainstorming the premise of The Matrix.

She then said that Warner Bros. was interested in her and Lana making something for the company as "they had this string of big movies that weren't working out the way they wanted them to."

"They had looked at us, and what we had done with Bound," said the director.

She also said that she and Lana were able to convince the studio to allow them to co-direct The Matrix by hiring an artist to sketch out a couple of the film's sequences.

"The more we drew, the more we were able to coax Warner Bros. into maybe these two people could direct this. We were second-time filmmakers. And these people were going, 'You have to save my job!' And they took a chance," continued Lilly in the 2025 interview.

This Common Sleep Habit Could Be Raising Your Blood Pressure Overnight, Doctors Say

Sun, 05/31/2026 - 9:50am

When it comes to heart health, we often think about how our daytime, waking-hour habits can lower our risk for issues, like high blood pressure. Yet, our heart health improves when we get enough sleep: The American Heart Association lists getting a good night's sleep—7 to 9 hours for most adults—as a pillar of cardiovascular wellness.

"Sleep is one of the major ways the cardiovascular system resets overnight," states Dr. Yi Cai, MD, an assistant professor and the director of sleep surgery at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center. "Poor sleep, whether from short sleep duration, insomnia, sleep apnea or irregular sleep schedules, is associated with a higher risk of high blood pressure, coronary artery disease, stroke, atrial fibrillation, heart failure and cardiovascular death."

It's hard to break the habits we fall into in dreamland, but Dr. Cai says it's worth becoming aware of them, especially because too-short or disrupted sleep can affect our blood pressure. Another sleep specialist agrees.

"One very important part of blood pressure regulation is the drop in blood pressure that occurs with nightly sleep, often called the nocturnal dip," says Dr. Matthew Scharf, MD, Ph.D., the director of sleep medicine at the Hackensack Meridian Southern Region. "This nightly drop in blood pressure is important for heart health."

He explains that, when our nighttime sleep is disturbed, that "nocturnal dip" often is, too. It can increase the risk of heart disease. It's possible to avoid chronically interrupted sleep, though. To do so, special doctors want to raise awareness of a common sleep "mistake" that could raise your blood pressure overnight and what you can do about it.

Sleep medicine doctors are concerned that people who breathe with their mouths open are at risk for high blood pressure (and may even already have it).

"Mouth breathing alone is not known to cause chronic high blood pressure," Dr. Cai clarifies. "But persistent mouth breathing can be a sign that someone has a sleep disorder, such as obstructive sleep apnea, which can affect blood pressure over time."

Besides obstructive sleep apnea, she says there are a few other reasons for persistent mouth breathing, including:

  • Chronic allergies or infections
  • Crooked cartilage and bones within the nose
  • Swollen nasal tissue (called turbinates)
  • Growths such as nasal polyps
  • Masses (rarely)

Dr. Alex Dimitriu, MD, a board-certified psychiatrist and sleep medicine doctor and the founder of Menlo Park Psychiatry & Sleep Medicine, points out that mouth breathing is not ideal. We're designed to breathe humidified air through our noses. Mouth breathing is a flag and risk factor for high blood pressure.

🩺SIGN UP for Parade’s health newsletter with expert-approved tips, healthy eats, exercises, news & more to help you stay healthy & feel your best self💊

"The simple truth is that not breathing well causes adrenaline spikes—norepinephrine, to be exact—which raises blood pressure and heart rate," Dr. Dimitriu says. "It's the same thing that would happen if you were being choked. Your body reacts intensely."

Yikes. Bigger yikes: "In people with sleep apnea, this happens many times during the night," Dr. Dimitriu says.

It's no wonder research links sleep apnea to hypertension.

To be clear, most of us will breathe through our mouths while sleeping every so often—that's not what sleep medicine experts are concerned about. "For most healthy people, one night of mouth breathing during a cold is not dangerous," Dr. Cai notes. "It may cause a dry mouth, sore throat, worse snoring or more fragmented sleep, but those effects are usually temporary and resolve when nasal breathing returns."

That doesn't mean you or your body are enjoying it. "It is still not ideal for getting a good night's sleep, which is exactly what you need when you are sick," Dr. Dimitriu says. "But there aren't major risks to one or two nights of mouth breathing."

What To Do if You Mouth Breathe

The best thing you can do if you know you mouth breathe (perhaps a bed partner told you) is to determine why. Sleep apnea is the most discussed reason and a major concern for cardiovascular disease, but it's not the only cause of mouth-breathing.

"It is important to identify and treat the underlying cause," Dr. Scharf says. "That often includes an evaluation for obstructive sleep apnea, an examination of the upper airway and an allergy assessment."

Ear, nose and throat (ENT) doctors can order allergy assessments or sleep studies. Sleep medicine specialists can also perform a sleep study. Understanding the signs of sleep apnea can also help you advocate for yourself.

"Mouth breathing plus loud snoring, gasping, witnessed apneas, morning headaches or daytime sleepiness should raise concern for sleep apnea," Dr. Cai says.

If it's sleep apnea, a CPAP machine can help, or you may need allergy medications (or both).

Can Mouth Taping Fix Mouth Breathing?

"Mouth taping has become very popular online, but the evidence is limited and mixed," Dr. Cai says.

She explains that the idea behind mouth taping (which is exactly what it sounds like) is that keeping your "trap" closed may encourage you to breathe through your nose. As a result, you may experience less dry mouth, plus your airway mechanics may improve.

"However, it is not helpful or appropriate for everyone," Dr. Cai points out. "Some people mouth breathe because their nose is blocked or because the mouth is serving as a backup airway during sleep. If you tape the mouth shut in that situation, you may worsen breathing rather than improve it."

She adds that it's best to consult a doctor first because mouth-taping only works for select patients, and it's best not to guess whether you're one of them.

"It is unlikely that mouth taping would be curative of significant cases of sleep apnea," Dr. Cai says.

When Did Alexandra Grant and Keanu Reeves Start Dating?

While Grant and the Matrix star have known each other for years, they started dating around 2019. At that point, a source told Peoplethat “Keanu wants to openly share his life with her. He is extremely happy and grateful to have Alex in his life. [They] started dating earlier this year, but have wanted to keep it quiet.”

How Long Have Alexandra Grant and Keanu Reeves Been Together?

The couple has now been together for going on seven years, and they have celebrated a variety of milestones together. Back in September, Grant took to social media to celebrate Keanu’s birthday with a heart-shaped birthday cake that read “KEANU” in red icing and was lined with candles. Naturally, the legendary actor avoids social media like the plague. However, Grant took the time to say a few words about the big event.

“Thank you to everyone for sending over sweet wishes for Keanu’s birthday yesterday… he was well-celebrated! As many of you know, Keanu isn’t on any social media platforms and doesn’t see posts or memes unless someone who is shows him. If you, or anyone you know, is being taken advantage of online by someone pretending to be Keanu, please seek out help from the social media platform or your local law enforcement. And to Keanu – who saw this post as a draft! – I am so grateful for your love and partnership. Now back to painting! xo,” she wrote.
