2007 Hit Ranked ‘Best Movie of the Century’

Sun, 03/01/2026 - 8:46pm

In 2007, There Will Be Blood arrived in theaters like a thunderclap: stark, ambitious and utterly uncompromising.

Now, nearly two decades later, Rolling Stone has ranked it the "Best Movie of the Century," placing Paul Thomas Anderson's sprawling drama at the very top of its list of 21st-century films.

From its wordless opening sequence in the deserts of New Mexico, the film signals its grand ambitions. Rolling Stone described Anderson's tale of American greed as towering "like a derrick over our new millennium," casting a shadow as imposing as that of Daniel Plainview, the ruthless oilman played by Daniel Day-Lewis.

Day-Lewis' portrayal of Plainview is central to the film’s enduring power. His explosive performance, at times contemptuous, at times darkly comic, ultimately earned him the Academy Award for Best Actor.

"Everything Daniel does makes me giggle with pleasure and joy," Anderson told The Guardian in 2019. His inventiveness, his devilishness, the joy he has in making such a maniacal portrait of a man unhinged."

Loosely inspired by Upton Sinclair's novel Oil!, the film tracks Plainview's relentless rise in the early California oil boom. What begins as a portrait of entrepreneurial grit slowly mutates into something far darker: a study of greed, ambition and spiritual corrosion. The movie's final confrontation, set in an echoing manor house, has often drawn comparisons to cinematic giants like Citizen Kane, a parallel Rolling Stone embraced in its assessment.

Anderson's filmmaking blends classical scale with modern unease. The film straddles the lien the of old and new Hollywood, as does its unsettling, dissonant score, written by Jonny Greenwood. The music's clicking, atonal textures heighten the sense that something deeply ominous lurks beneath Plainview's success.

But perhaps what cements the film's status is its relevance. Plainview's story perfectly encapsulates the full capitalist cycle, starting as a force of creation that ultimately leads to destruction. More than a period piece, it feels like a prophecy. In an era grappling with wealth inequality and unchecked corporate power, Plainview's story resonates with uncomfortable clarity.

"Unfortunately, this story doesn't seem to be going out of style any time soon," said Anderson. "It would be nice to see it as science fiction one day. Or an account of how truly insane we all once were."

Nearly 20 years after its release, There Will Be Blood remains a towering achievement, a film as imposing and unforgettable as the oil derricks that define its horizon.

It’s the best of the century so far.

Catherine O'Hara Posthumously Wins Actor Award — Here's Who Accepted on Her Behalf

Sun, 03/01/2026 - 8:23pm

At long last, SAG-AFTRA's first-ever awards show dubbed the "Actor Awards" has arrived — with some surprise and bittersweet winners along with it.

One example came with the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series category, whose winner was announced to be the late, great Catherine O'Hara thanks to her standout work in The Studio.

O'Hara beat out co-star Kathryn Hahn, Jenna Ortega (Wednesday), Jean Smart (Hacks) and Kristen Wiig (Palm Royale). Smart, 74, has routinely been winning this type of category for her hit HBO Max series — but awards-show commentators have been buzzing over the past week about O'Hara's potential to emerge victorious in the Actor Awards ever since her sudden passing on Jan. 30 at age 71.

Usually at glamorous ceremonies such as the Sunday, March 1 event — which is streaming live on Netflix — the posthumous winner's trophy is accepted by the presenter on stage at the time. That would have been the wondrous Lisa Kudrow in this case, but instead, Seth Rogen dashed up to stage with notecards in hand to read a brief speech on O'Hara's behalf.

Not only is he the co-creator of The Studio, but Rogen, 43, is also O'Hara's co-star in the beloved Apple TV series, whose second season is in the works. The pair of Canadian comedians share a number of hilarious scenes in the season 1, so it's only fitting that Rogen was asked to take the stage on Sunday, as he noted during his speech.

He also stressed how "we were lucky to live in a world" where O'Hara showcased her talents, while also encouraging those not familiar with her work to check out her dancing scene in Beetlejuice and her knee-injury moment in Best in Show. These are just some of the times where the Schitt's Creek star shined in comedic perfection on the big screen.

‘SNL’ Icon Kristen Wiig, 52, Rocks Daring Cutout Dress at the Actor Awards

Sun, 03/01/2026 - 8:08pm

Saturday Night Livealum Kristen Wiig made a splash at the 32nd Actor Awards (formerly known as the Screen Actors Guild or "SAG" Awards) on Sunday, March 1, 2026, when she stepped out in a slinky black dress that put her incredibly toned and tanned body on display.

The 52-year-old comedian wore a sleek Christian Cowan Spring ‘26 open silk gown for the swanky event. The look was simple but striking, with a slim-cut silhouette that had two deep cutouts down the sides, from the armpit to the hip. Karla Welch styled her outfit for the event, topping off the look with Tiffany jewelry and a glittering black bag from The Veil.

Wiig kept her hair and makeup simple for the event, with her perfectly blown-out tresses being styled by trusted hairstylists Adir Abergel and Abi Evans, and her lightly smoky makeup by Jo Baker.

Fans were blown away by Wiig's dazzling look, and took to X to share their thoughts. "I did not recognize Kristen Wiig at first. She looks good!" said one fan, while another added, "Wait Kristen Wiig is really hot. A third wrote, "Kristen Wiig casually redefining elegance. No effort, all presence."

The Bridesmaids actress has become known for her daring looks. In November 2025, she made waves at the LACMA Art+Film Gala red carpet donning a completely see-through black lace grown with nothing under it but black briefs. While she often does black, she never does boring!

“I’ve worn things in the past that didn’t feel like me, and I don’t do that anymore,” she told Harper's Bazaar in July 2025 of finally honing her personal sense of style. “I feel like now I’ve learned that I don’t need to keep up with whatever the current ‘trend’ is and just wear what feels like me."

"Sometimes I think we all look in the mirror and say, ‘Who am I?!’" she added. "And it’s kind of fun to keep figuring that out and change it up.”

‘Marshals’ Premiere Shocks Fans With Major ‘Yellowstone’ Death — Creator Reveals Why It Happened (Exclusive)

Sun, 03/01/2026 - 8:00pm

The theories are sadly true: Monica Dutton (Kelsey Asbille), one-half of Yellowstone’s most star-crossed couple, has died. The series premiere of spinoff sequel Marshals — which follows her husband, Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes), as he works as a member of an elite squad of U.S. Marshals — reveals that Monica died of cancer in the year between the end of Yellowstone and the start of Marshals

It’s a shocking and devastating loss for Kayce and his and Monica’s son Tate (Brecken Merrill) — and for fans, who followed Kayce and Monica’s love story through all five seasons of Yellowstone

Marshals creator Spencer Hudnut says that even though Monica is gone, her memory will be carried throughout the show. “Kayce's dealing with the grief and the loss. I mean, this is the person who really kept him anchored the entire run of Yellowstone. This is the love of his life,” Hudnut tells Parade. “Her presence and her loss is definitely a big runner throughout the first season, and she'll be with him throughout the show.”

How did Monica die in Marshals

Monica was an important character on Yellowstone. A Native American woman who grew up on the Broken Rock Reservation, she always reminded Kayce that he was more than just a Dutton. They had ups and downs in their relationship, but they loved each other and their son Tate with all their hearts.

When Marshals’ cast was announced and Asbille’s name wasn’t on the list, fans suspected that something had happened to Monica. Then the series’s first trailer heavily implied that Monica had passed away. Marshals’ premiere episode, “Piya Wiconi,” confirms the tragic loss.

The episode starts with Kayce having a nightmare where Monica calls him while he’s fighting in a gun battle and he asks, “Monica, where are you?” When he wakes up, Monica isn’t there. Then a conversation between Kayce and Tate further implies that Monica is gone. Tate identifies more with the Native American side of his heritage than the Dutton side. He would rather fight the power than work the ranch.

Against his father’s wishes, Tate goes to a protest against the opening of a new mine that will dump toxins into Broken Rock’s water supply and make the reservation’s already high cancer rate even worse. At the protest, Kayce — who is there working for the Marshals — asks Tate to go home before things get violent. Tate refuses, telling his father, “After how much mom suffered, you should be leading the charge here, not waving the white flag.” He holds up a framed picture of his mother, confirming that she got sick from exposure to toxins at Broken Rock and passed away.

At the end of the episode, Kayce goes to visit her grave. He’s accepted a new job with the U.S. Marshals and had a heart-to-heart conversation with Tate about allowing the boy to choose his own path, not forcing him to carry on the Dutton legacy, and he has something he needs to tell her. “You always told me to fight for the life I want. But I had the life I wanted; it was with you,” he says through tears. “I’m changing paths. I’m gonna try to find a new beginning for me and Tate.” His old life is mostly gone, and Marshals will follow him as he embarks on a new one.

Why isn't Monica in Marshals?

Hudnut says that the decision to end Monica’s story had already been made by the time he was hired to run Marshals. “Truthfully, that was a decision that wasn't really in my hands, and so I kind of baked the pilot cake with the ingredients I had,” he says. “But it was important if she wasn't going to continue with the show to really have that loss mean something.”

“There were thoughts of, like, we could do something really hideous to her that would then send Kayce on a sort of Man on Fire thing,” he adds, referencing the 2004 revenge thriller. “But it felt important to use her passing as an opportunity to really shine a spotlight on an issue that is plaguing that community, which is a very high cancer rate.” (According to the CDC, Native Americans have higher rates of certain kinds of cancer than other ethnic groups, and often have less access to healthcare.)

“I really wanted to treat her with respect,” Hudnut says. “We didn't want to exploit this loss in a way that felt too cheap. We also wanted to find [a time where] there's enough distance from it where it's plausible that Kayce is in a place where he's just kind of stuck” — and therefore open shaking up his life when the opportunity presents itself in the form of a U.S. Marshal badge.

Hudnut understands that fans may have strong feelings about Monica’s death. “Kayce and Monica had such a great ending to Yellowstone, but unfortunately, real life intervened,” Hudnut says. “I don't think this decision alters the ending of that show in any way. They still ride off into the sunset and have what they thought was their dream. But she's gonna be with Kayce throughout the series. We're just trying to honor this great character that Kelsey and Taylor [Sheridan] created.”

Marshals airs Sundays at 8/7c on CBS and is available to stream on Paramount+.

Michael J. Fox Has Fans In Tears After Actor Awards Appearance: 'Yeah, I'm Crying'

Sun, 03/01/2026 - 7:45pm

Michael J. Fox helped kick off Sunday's Actor Awards by making an appearance in the award show's opening, surprising fans, and show's audience, with a heartfelt tribute to his family.

In the show's introduction, before host Kristen Bell took the stage, the 'Back to the Future' star shared a story of how his pursuit of becoming an actor ultimately introduced him to his wife, with whom he shares four kids.

"Before I left school, and moved from Canada to LA to try and make it as an actor, a teacher of mine told me, 'Fox you're not going to be cute forever,'" he recalled, after the room applauded him. "To that I just said, 'Well maybe just long enough sir.'

"After a few years of dumpster diving I ended up on Family Ties where I received the biggest gift of my career, my wife Tracy Pollan, who played Ellen, my girlfriend, and she gave me four gifts, our kids Skyler, Aquinnah, Esmé, and Sam. Sometimes I like to think if it wasn't for acting they wouldn't be here."

Pollan and Fox tied the knot in 1988.

Fans immediately shared their reactions on X, struck by the actor's appearance and speech.

"Yeah I'm crying. Thankful for Michael J Fox giving representation to Parkinson's, this disease takes so much and seeing him makes my heart so full," one wrote.

"I’m sure I’m not alone in getting choked-up when #MichaelJFox did one of those little “I am an actor” anecdotes at the beginning of the show," another said. "I loved seeing him there."

"The man, the myth, the legend that is Michael J. Fox who famously married his girlfriend from Family Ties and ended up having four children together," a third chimed in. "Boy, are we happy to see you."

Zendaya-Tom Holland Wedding Rumors Heat Up With New Claim

Sun, 03/01/2026 - 7:28pm

A new comment from Law Roach is adding fresh heat to ongoing wedding rumors surrounding Zendaya and Tom Holland.

During the Actor Awards red carpet, Roach made a bold statement that quickly spread online.

In a video clip shared by Access Hollywood on Instagram, he said, "The wedding has already happened. You missed it. It's very true."

The post was captioned: “EXCUSE US?! ⚠️ Law Roach tells us the Zendaya and Tom Holland wedding has already happened 🤍.”

The remark has sparked a new wave of speculation about whether the engaged couple secretly tied the knot. Zendaya and Holland got engaged in 2024. She confirmed the engagement publicly when she debuted her ring at the 2025 Golden Globes. Since then, fans have closely watched for any sign of wedding news.

Zendaya attends the 94th Annual Academy Awards at Hollywood and Highland on March 27, 2022.

Just several days ago, rumors started again after photos showed Zendaya in Los Angeles wearing what looked like a simple gold band instead of her large engagement ring. Some fans believed it could be a wedding ring. Others pointed out that her diamond may have simply turned around on her finger.

View this post on Instagram

Neither Zendaya nor Holland has commented on the latest speculation. The couple has a long history of keeping major life moments private.

Back in January 2025, reports indicated that Holland proposed “between Christmas and New Year’s” in a very intimate setting at one of Zendaya’s family homes. The proposal was described as romantic and low-key.

In past interviews, both actors have explained why they protect their privacy. Zendaya recently said she tries to “keep things for myself” and for her loved ones. Holland has also shared that some moments are meant to stay between them.

That background makes Roach’s claim even more surprising. Roach is not just any stylist. He has worked with Zendaya since she was about 13 years old. Over more than a decade, they built a deep professional and personal bond. He often calls her his “little sister,” and they describe their partnership as built on loyalty and trust.

Zendaya and Holland were recently seen together at the 2026 Producers Guild Awards. At the event, Zendaya performed a humorous impersonation of producer Amy Pascal in a video tribute. Holland stood beside her, supporting the bit.

— Zendaya Updates (@Zendaya_Updated) March 1, 2026

Despite their public appearances, they rarely address personal rumors directly. Even during press for Zendaya’s upcoming film projects, she has focused on her work while briefly mentioning Holland in professional contexts.

Right now, there is no official confirmation from Zendaya or Holland about a wedding. Roach’s quote is the only direct claim suggesting the ceremony has already taken place.

Whether it was a serious reveal or a playful comment, one thing is clear: the internet is paying attention. And if the couple truly did get married in secret, it would fit their pattern of handling big moments quietly and on their own terms.

For now, fans are left with one bold quote: “You missed it.”

The Fairytale That Mirrors Your Soul, Based on Birth Month

Sun, 03/01/2026 - 7:21pm

The month you were born has its own unique spiritual atmosphere. For instance, January feels different from July, and October carries a different mood than April. This seasonal tone can significantly shape your personality. Your birth month often reflects the energy of a classic fairy tale or story that we've heard before. Read on to discover which classic fairy tale best represents you, based on your birth month.

Each Birth Month as a Fairytale

Check for your birth month. Disregard your birth date.

January - Cinderella (Grimm Brothers, Charles Perrault)

January is the definition of resilience. It's cold, quiet, and it demands patience. People born in January tend to understand the value of hard work and delayed rewards. Like Cinderella, they don't always rush the spotlight, but when their moment comes, they're ready for it. Whether you're a steady Capricorn or an innovative Aquarius, January souls often build their happy ending intentionally with integrity, step by step.

February - Belle (French fairytale "Beauty and the Beast" by Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve)

February carries profound depth. People born within this month hold deep emotions beneath the surface. February-borns usually care more about what's real than what looks good. Like Beauty and the Beast, their story centers on seeing someone's heart clearly. Whether they're an independent Aquarius or sensitive Pisces, February-born individuals value meaningful connections.

March - Ariel (Hans Christian Andersen's "The Little Mermaid")

March sits between seasons. It feels hopeful and restless at the same time. People born in March often want more than what's familiar. They'll take risks for something that feels aligned with who they are. Like The Little Mermaid, they're willing to cross into new territory for a chance at something bigger. Whether they're an imaginative Pisces or a passionate Aries, March-borns carry the courage to chase their dreams.

April - Rapunzel (Grimm Brothers)

April feels like a door finally swinging open, allowing sunlight to pour into spaces that once felt small. Much like Rapunzel from the Brothers Grimm tales, it embodies the courage to leave the tower and discover what lies beyond. There’s a sense of bold escape in April—a restless, adventurous spirit that refuses to stay confined. Whether you're a fiery Aries or a steady Taurus, those born in this month often balance fearless beginnings with grounded persistence.

May - Snow White (Grimm Brothers)

The month of May is warm and steady, creating a sense of calmness and vibrancy in the world. Those born in May often exude a soothing presence, like Snow White's, attracting others with their gentle kindness. Whether they're a steady Taurus or a curious Gemini, they possess loyalty and a natural charm that puts people at ease.

June - Alice (Lewis Carroll's "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland")

Curiousity defines the month of June. It's the start of summer, when routines loosen, and imagination kicks in. June is the time to explore without overthinking, and just like Alice in Wonderland, June people are open to the unexpected. Whether they're a creative Gemini or a sensitive Cancer, people born during this month possess quick thinking and emotional awareness.

July - Aurora (Charles Perrault's "Sleeping Beauty," Grimm Brothers' "Little Briar Rose")

July is emotional beneath its sunny surface. People born in this month tend to protect their inner world carefully. Mirroring Sleeping Beauty, July individuals' power isn't loud, but it's lasting. They remain true to their heart and values, no matter the external pressures they face. Whether they're a compassionate Cancer or lively Leo, this birth month carries sensitivity and pride.

August - Mulan (Chinese folklore, "The Ballad of Mulan")

August reflects Mulan's courage and willingness to lead. She takes on responsibility without hesitation, staying fierce and focused when others step aside—her strong determinationand her bravery influence everyone around her. Whether you're a bold, confident Leo with a natural presence, or a Virgo who adds discipline and attention to detail, August-borns create courage backed by clear, practical action.

September - Tiana (Grimm Brothers' "The Frog Prince")

September reflects Tiana's intelligence and work ethic. She believes in earning her dreams through discipline and discernment, valuing substance over show. Grounded and determined, she proves that true success is built through hard work and clear purpose. Whether you're an analytical and diplomatic Libra, this month's sense of balance influences you, combining thoughtful strategy with grace, fairness, and a desire to build something meaningful.

October - Odette ("Swan Lake" ballet/Russian folklore)

October is a month of mystery, like Odette from Swan Lake, carrying itself with effortless grace as it lingers between warmth and the first breath of frost. There is transformation in the air; leaves turn to amber and crimson, and the light softens into a golden hush as the world shifts quietly from what was to what will be. October carries beauty and a quiet depth that is thoughtful, soft-hearted, but also steady and sure of itself. Whether you're a Libra with a love of balance or an intense Scorpio, people born in this month are romantic and unafraid to look beneath the surface. In each fading sunset and every leaf that slips from the trees, there's a trace of Odette's spirit, a sense that, though bittersweet, change can still be achingly beautiful.

Transformation comes through struggle, and she emerges more certain of who she is. Whether you're a bold Scorpio or a fiery Sagittarius, your fearless optimism defines you. You carry deep emotional strength paired with a bold drive for freedom and truth, much like Merida.

December - Elsa (inspired by "The Snow Queen")

December holds Elsa's strength, loyalty, and protective devotion that never wavers. Ahead of the bracket reveal to the contestants, Jet Tila expressed his dismay at the "culinary icons" being No. 1 seeds because he (rightly) thought he'd be a No. 1 since he has reached the semifinals so many times.

RELATED: ‘Tournament of Champions’ Fans Think They’ve Spotted Gordon Ramsay as a Secret Icon

But one thing I will say as someone who watches a lot of competition cooking shows—if these secret icons haven't brushed up on competition cooking (which is VERY different from developing dishes for a 3-star Michelin restaurant or what have you), they might be pretty rusty to competition cooking. I would not assume that the No. 1 seeds, no matter how renowned and decorated they are, are just going to breeze through this competition.

It's actually why TOC is so much fun—these chefs are all extremely talented, so on any given day, anyone can win.

In fact, I'm going to predict right now (and I might be wrong, I promise I have not seen any episodes before writing this) that there is going to be at least one No. 8 seed that upsets a No. 1 seed.

Anyway, the judges for this episode are Alex Guarnaschelli, Antonia Lofaso and Dominique Crenn.

Beware of spoilers ahead: Don't keep reading if you don't want to be spoiled.

Matchup 1: No. 2 Jet Tila vs. No. 7 Ashleigh Shanti

Ahead of the cook, Jet said that he keeps coming back to TOC because he wants to show his kids "that you can get beat down and you can always come back and try your best and that's all that matters." I just love him. There are SO many chefs that I want to see win this and Jet is at the top.

Randomizer categories: Pork loin for protein, bell peppers for produce, ricer for equipment, charred for style and "Move One Up" for wild card, which they HAVE to do. So they decide together to move equipment from ricer to handheld grill basket. All cooks in this round have 30 minutes.

Dishes: Jet decides to cook a pork and bell pepper waterfall salad, which has charred protein and roasted rice. Ashleigh goes with Cajun blackened pork loin with a charred pepper and onion medley and a roasted pepper sauce.

I learn something new every time I watch a Food Network show, even a competition show, and watching Jet cut those bell peppers the way he did was incredible and I can't wait to try it.

Winner: The scores were 80 to 88 in favor of Jet. Wow. He outscored Ashleigh in every category, most notably by six points in taste. Jet's 88 is a monster score for round 1.

Matchup 2: No. 3 Tobias Dorzon vs No. 6 Claudette Zepeda

Randomizer categories: Skirt steak for protein, broccoli rabe for produce, toaster oven for equipment, pickled for style and "Chefs Re-Spin" for wild card. They re-style and get pickled again, haha.

Dishes: Claudette goes with pickled and grilled skirt steak with roasted broccoli rabe pipián, which is a Mexican seed-and-chile sauce. Tobias decides to make pickled skirt steak with broccoli rabe and pickled Asian pear salad.

Winner: The scores come back 85 to 87, wow, that's high for round 1. And in the first upset of the tourney, Claudette takes it. She outscored Tobias by three points in taste and one point in presentation, though he edged her by two points in use of the Randomizer. Close one.

Matchup 3: No. 4 Jonathon Sawyer vs No. 5 Karen Akunowicz

Randomizer categories: Lamb shoulder chops for protein, fingerling potatoes for produce, ricer for equipment, breaded for style and "Low Seed Re-Spin" for wild card. Before Karen picks, I said would have re-spun breaded—and she does. They end up with sauteed for style.

Dishes: Jonathon makes sauteed lamb shoulder glazed with gochujang and garlic with a potato puree. Karen goes Middle Eastern with creamy fingerling potatoes and spiced lamb with a tomato pomegranate relish.

Winner: The scores end up being 86 to 89, wowza. In the end, Jonathon took it—and it came down to presentation. He beat Karen on taste by only one point and they tied on use of the Randomizer, but he took presentation by two points.

RELATED: Guy Fieri Brings Flavortown to TV for the First Time Ever With New Competition Series

Matchup 4: No. 1 Ming Tsai vs No. 8 Aarti Sequeira

As Jonathon says, "SHUT UP! They got him to do this?!" As Aarti says, "Ming Tsai knows so much about food that I don't even know what I don't know. I mean, why don't you just ask Julia Child to come back from the dead and be here too? This is so ridiculous."

Randomizer categories: Salmon for protein, Roma tomatoes for produce, box grater for equipment, nutty for style and "Protein or Producer Re-Spin" for wild card. They end up with tomatoes again, haha.

Dishes: Aarti is leaning into her Indian roots with Butter Chicken but with salmon. Ming does salmon with crispy salmon skins, pesto and tomato fondue.

Watching Ming break down that salmon is incredible. Also, I love that he says he was practicing at his restaurant with his sous chefs giving him Randomizers and timing him. That's adorable—and that's also how you come into TOC for the first time and win.

Watching Guy and Justin geek out over watching Ming cook live (which is admittedly VERY impressive) was super cute. But in a surprise, Ming did run out of time to put his toasted nuts on the plate (though he did have them in his pesto).

Winner: Aarti won! I screamed right out loud, you guys. I scared my cats, they Scooby-Doo'd off the bed. The scores come back tied on taste, one point difference on presentation and two point difference on use of the Randomizer for a final score of 85 to 84.

As soon as Guy read the scores, I knew Aarti had won because she tied Ming on taste. He clearly won presentation, but it seemed apparent that she edged on use of the Randomizer. If he gets the nuts on there, he wins (or they tie at 85).

I'm so over the moon jazzed for her, I almost started crying. What a tremendous showing by Aarti and what a way to kick off season 7. Wow. This is gonna be so much fun, you guys!

'90s Queen 'Sounds Great' Performing Her Biggest Hit 30 Years After Its Release

Sun, 03/01/2026 - 6:37pm

To hear Tori Amos lilting vocals and prowess on the piano is to become a fan for life. Judging by the reaction to Amos’ recent performance at the BBC Radio 2 "Piano Room," with fans gushing that the piano prodigy’s music "got me through high school," Tori Amos’ impact and legacy are alive and well over 30 years after the release of her signature hit "Cornflake Girl."

Amos stopped by the BBC studios this week, where she debuted her new song "Stronger Together," performed a cover of Bob Dylan’s "The Times They Are A-Changin’," and improvised a keyboard-only version of the Rolling Stones’ "Beast of Burden" that even had the BBC Concert Orchestra astounded by her talent.

Possibly the biggest treat of Tori’s in-studio performance was her rendition of her 1994 hit "Cornflake Girl" from her second studio album Under the Pink. Accompanied by her stunning trio of touring backup singers, Liv Gibson, Deni Hlavinka, and Hadley Kennary, Tori’s rendition of "Cornflake Girl" is a reminder of the song’s staying power. Tori Amos may be committed to reinvention, but her classic-meets-improvisational piano hooks, coupled with her ethereal voice and dark themes explored through catchy choruses, make songs like "Cornflake Girl" resonate with one generation after the next.

If there was ever a Tori song meant to be played with a high-quality pair of headphones on, volume turned up to a (healthy) full blast, it is "Cornflake Girl."

Fans React to Tori Amos’ Performance

Tori Amos fans rushed to the BBC’s comment section, sharing their thoughts on Tori’s evolving voice and endless talents.

"It’s giving evolved, powerful crone leading the next generations with wisdom, depth, and generosity. Gen X loves you, Tori," one fan reflected.

Another added, "Tori is a living legend."

"Tori got me through high school," confessed another, echoing the sentiments of many. "Queen in my life to this day. Decades later…"

"She’s an incredible performer still and a phenomenal songwriter," shared one more.

"This woman," another stated simply.

For Gen Xers and those of us she did get through high school (raises hand, turns up the volume), Tori Amos is back with a new album. In Times of Dragons is scheduled for release on May 1, 2026 (marks calendar, takes the day off work). Tori just released the album’s lead single "Stronger Together" on February 24, featuring backing vocals from her daughter Tash Hawley (25).

Hawley’s got big shoes, er... piano keys, to fill, but fans couldn’t be more excited to witness the emergence of Tori Amos 2.0. Finally, a nepo baby we're hoping will shine.

Teyana Taylor Shares a Heart-Melting Moment With Her Little Girl on Actor Awards Red Carpet

Sun, 03/01/2026 - 6:31pm

The 32nd Actor Awards, formerly the Screen Actor Guild Awards, or SAGs, are tonight, and stars are already arriving in style. Namely, Teyana Taylor.

Staying true to her previous red-carpet appearances, Taylor simply stunned. Wearing Thom Browne, the star posed in a striking, sculptural showpiece that blended Old Hollywood glamour with modern artistry. With swirling and sculpted appliques and a dramatic curve-hugging skirt drenched in silver sequins, the lewk will no doubt be one of the best of the night.

But there was something else – a certain adorable accessory – catching everyone’s eye: the mini me helping splay out her dress.

— Variety (@Variety) March 1, 2026

Taylor’s adorable 5-year-old daughter, Rue Rose Shumpert, accompanied the actress to the awards show and helped her mom with the bottom of her dress along the carpet. She’d just pop in and out from behind a gold curtain to ensure her mom was picture-perfect for the flashbulbs.

A budding fashionista herself, she sported a sweet and playful ensemble that featured a pastel sweater, a whimsical knee-length skirt, and shiny black patent-leather boots.

Following the stroll down the carpet, Taylor and Rue caught up with E! News’ red-carpet reporter and had another moment that will bring tears to your eyes. Allowing the two to just talk to each other, the reporter handed Rue the mic.

“She’s a very expensive stylist, OK,” Taylor joked. “She’s breaking the bag.”

Speaking about her daughter, she said, “I start to zone out, and I just stare at her ... I think I’m chewig it, but it’s her. It’s not me; it’s her.”

Mic in hand, Rue responded, “I just want to say, this is such an honor for me being here and I wanted to thank you guys for my mom and this wonderful day. And all of y’all’s outfits look very good. And I'm mostly saying this for my mom.”

She continued, “I hope when I grow up I can get a trophy, too,” to which Taylor told her she is destined for all the flowers in the future.

“How do you know that?” Rue asked.

“A mother knows,” Taylor said.

Tonight, Taylor is nominated for her work in One Battle After Another. She is nominated for an Oscar for the same role. Thus far, she has won a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Female Actor for playing Perfidia Beverly Hills, a morally complex character who is the leader of a revolutionary group.

Good luck to Taylor tonight.

Award-Winning Actress, Whose Career Spanned 7 Decades, Dies at 89

Sun, 03/01/2026 - 6:28pm

Beloved Australian actress Lorraine Bayly has died at the age of 89 after years of serious health problems.

The award-winning star passed away on Saturday at a care home in Sydney. Her death was announced by close friend and journalist, Craig Bennett, on behalf of her family.

Bayly was best known for playing Grace Sullivan in the hit drama series The Sullivans. For many viewers, she was “Australia’s mum” because of her warm and loving role on the show. Her acting career began in the 1950s and continued until her retirement in 2016, making it a remarkable journey that stretched across seven decades.

Bennett shared the sad news in a heartfelt message. “Sad to say we’ve lost another showbiz legend, a bona fide star of stage and screen, a triple Logie winning TV treasure and beautiful friend to many,” he wrote.

Lorraine Bayly arrives at opening night of "Charlie And The Chocolate Factory" at Capitol Theatre on January 11, 2019 in Sydney, Australia.

He added that Bayly’s nephew, Brad Connelly, and his wife, Janelle, asked him to make the public announcement.

Bayly had retired 10 years before her passing. During her later years, she battled several illnesses. She was diagnosed with pneumonia in 2018, which caused a partially collapsed lung.

After recovering, she learned she had breast cancer and underwent a mastectomy. In 2021, she spoke about her health struggles, saying, “I’ve spent the past two-and-a-half years going from one illness to another.”

Despite this, she tried to stay positive and said she did not complain because she had enjoyed good health for most of her life.

Before she became a household name, Bayly trained at Sydney’s Ensemble Theatre in the 1950s. She also played piano on the radio. Her television debut came in 1962 on The Bobby Limb Show. Just four years later, in 1966, she became one of the original presenters on Play School, entertaining young children across Australia.

Her big break came when she starred as Grace Sullivan in The Sullivans from 1976 to 1979. She appeared in nearly 600 episodes. Her character’s emotional death scene remains one of the most talked-about moments in Australian television history.

After leaving The Sullivans, Bayly took on the lead role of solicitor Jennifer Carson in Carson's Law from 1982 to 1984. The role was specially created for her. She also appeared in the long-running soap Neighbours and films such as Fatty Finn and The Challenge.

Bayly’s final on-screen appearance was in the 2015 documentary The Jewel of the Mountain. Beyond acting, she worked as a writer, narrator, puppeteer, stage manager, director, dancer and pianist. As the daughter of a ventriloquist, she even learned ventriloquism and once performed on a talk show in 1983.

She also worked with Hollywood star Kirk Douglas in The Man From Snowy River and appeared on stage with Edward Woodward.

Throughout her long career, Bayly received major honors. She won three Silver Logie Awards for Most Popular Actress during the late 1970s and early 1980s for her work on The Sullivans and Carson’s Law. The Logies are Australia’s top television awards, similar to the Emmys in the U.S.

She was also named a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for her service to the performing arts and community. This national honor recognized not just her acting talent but also her impact on Australian culture.

Lorraine Bayly’s life was full of music, stage lights and strong roles that touched millions of viewers. From the 1950s to 2016, she never stopped working hard at her craft. Her legacy in Australian television and theatre will not be forgotten.

1985 Classic Was a No. 1 Hit 40 Years Ago Today

Sun, 03/01/2026 - 6:02pm

Mr. Mister achieved massive success after introducing a string of notable hit songs, among its widely recognized tracks being “Kyrie.”

In 1985, the American quartet band from Phoenix, Arizona, released the guitar-driven song as part of their second studio album, Welcome to the Real World.

Fronted by Richard Page, the pop-rock band delivered not one but two era-defining hits in one record, making “Kyrie” and “Broken Wings” lasting staples of 1980s radio and music culture.

Forty years ago today, “Kyrie” became a number one hit in the U.S., making it their second single to reach the charts.

Moreover, the spiritually infused pop-rock anthem topped the Billboard Hot 100 rankings for two consecutive weeks. This was months after their first hit song, “Broken Wings,” had also claimed the top spot and established Mr. Mister in the music scene.

The song continued to achieve further global success after debuting at No. 50 on the U.K. Singles Chart, peaking at No. 3 in Switzerland and reaching No. 5 and No. 6 in Austria and Sweden, respectively.

Members of the American pop-rock band Mr. Mister.

According to Page, who was the band’s primary composer, he felt a different kind of feeling before releasing the song.

He composed the song along with band member and keyboardist Steve George and Page’s cousin John Lang on the lyrics.

Page described the song as “a kiss of death” and worried that the song’s religious language would cause the listeners to lose interest.

“John said he’d had a dream where he remembered singing ‘Kyrie eleison’ as a kid in church,” he told Rock Candy magazine, adding, “So that was his title for the song. I said, ‘No. That will get us pigeonholed as a Christian band, and that's not what we want to do. But John said, ‘Let’s try it anyway.’ And once that happened, it just morphed into whatever it was, and there was no going back. I remember thinking, ‘This is a kiss of death!’ Because people are going to think that we were proselytising. And it wasn’t like that at all.”

Page was referring to the Greek phrase “Kyrie eleison,” which means “Lord, have mercy.”

Fortunately, the song was a massive hit. Not only did it defy the frontman’s fears but it also became one of their classic hits, with the listeners embracing it far more warmly than he had imagined.

Makeup Artist Alexis Stone’s Jim Carrey Transformation Claim Divides the Internet

Sun, 03/01/2026 - 5:36pm

The internet is divided on March 1 after legendary makeup artist Alexis Stone claims to have transformed into actorJim Carrey for his Feb. 26 appearance at the 2026 Cesar Film Awards in France. The claim comes after some fans insisted he looked "different" on the big night, with some even calling him "unrecognizable."

Related: ‘SNL’ Icon Kristen Wiig, 52, Rocks Daring Cutout Dress at the Actor Awards

"Alexis Stone as Jim Carrey in Paris," wrote the famous drag queen, who is known for uncanny celebrity transformations, on Instagram. The post included two photos of Carrey at the event, and one photo of a mask, teeth, and a dark wig that resembled Carrey's new straight black hairdo. Instagram Stories posted by Stone show the artist dancing in Paris, France, with his normal appearance.

Followers didn't know what to make of the claims. While some immediately bought into it, saying, "The conspiracy theorists have had a FIELD DAY because of you" and "Man no way, I knew it!!! Jim it's probably laughing out loud now," not everyone was so quick to believe.

"He’s playing y'all because Alexis didn’t step out as Jim lol," said one follower, and another echoed, "I’ll believe it when the video is out," referring to the in-depth YouTube videos Stone always posts following a celebrity transformation project. Some pointed out that the mask photo could be AI-generated. Others were just totally confused, with one crying, "I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO BELIEVE ANYMORE!"

Carrey accepted an honorary award at the event, and took the stage to deliver his acceptance speech completely in French. During the speech, he made a variety of his signature facial expressions, which seem near-impossible to accomplish with a mask on, despite Stone's immense talent, pointing to the claim being nothing more than a hoax.

In the past, Stone has convincingly dressed up as Glenn Close, Anna Wintour, Jack Nicholson, Lana Del Rey, Jocelyne Wildenstein, and Donatella Versace, and even tricked followers into believing he'd gotten "botched" plastic surgery for three months.

"It’s interesting I get asked often about ‘identity’ and whilst I’ve studied individuals physical differences for the last 10 years, as a generalization a majority of us try and emulate other peoples image, style and lifestyles daily," he wrote on Instagram in 2023. "Is image really as personal as we think if it can be replicated?"

"I’ve come to really celebrate the quirks that each and every person offers, the details, the energy," he said of his work. "It’s more than emulating someone’s physical appearance."

Jim Carrey's representatives have yet to respond to a request for comment regarding Alexis Stone's claims.
