The Matrix 5 Still Alive as Drew Goddard Teases an Update — Will Keanu Reeves Return?

Sun, 03/01/2026 - 10:22am

It’s been quite some time since we last heard an update on The Matrix 5. The last major development came in 2024, when Warner Bros. officially announced the film, stating that the fifth installment “will advance the fantasy world without straying too far from what made the series a success.” That announcement arrived despite the reboot struggling at the box office, earning $160 million worldwide against a reported $190 million budget.

With fans largely assuming The Matrix 5 had been lost in development limbo, writer-director Drew Goddard has now offered a glimmer of hope. Goddard, whose upcoming film Project Hail Mary just hit the screens, recently confirmed that the fifth entry is “still in the works.”

But here’s the catch that has fans concerned. “I’m in my writing cave writing,” Goddard said to ScreenRant. “I don’t know how long I’ll be in that writing cave, but whenever I come out, I’ll have news to share.” With no clear timeline in place, the next big – and worrying – question remains: will Keanu Reeves return?

While there has been no official confirmation of his return, Reeves previously expressed interest in reprising his role. In a 2021 interview with Empire, he admitted he still had more to give to the franchise. When asked about returning for a fifth film, he said, “If she [Lana Wachowski] invites me again, I’m in.”

It’s worth noting that Lana is now involved as an executive producer on the project, after serving as writer and director throughout the franchise’s earlier instalments.

Till then, stay tuned to Parade for more updates.

Disney World Prepares to Say Goodbye to Iconic Attraction — and the Lines for Last Rides Started Early

Sun, 03/01/2026 - 10:20am

March 1, 2026, will go down in amusement park history as it's the last day park goers can ride Disney's Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith. The attraction will close for good upon park closure this evening, and thousands of fans will be hoping to get one final ride before it goes dark.

Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, previously announced its decision to refurbish the ride, changing the theming from a night out with Aerosmith to an undisclosed storyline that features the Muppets.

On Sunday morning, the lines to ride the coaster started early. Social media user ThrillGeek snapped a photo from Hollywood Studios just after rope drop and the line to ride Rock 'n' Roller Coaster was impressive, to say the least.

It’s the final day for Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith at Hollywood Studios and the crowds are already lined up for one final ride to turn the record industry upside down! pic.twitter.com/qDk03EuT8Z

— ThrillGeek (@thrillgeek) March 1, 2026

According to Inside the Magic, construction for the new attraction has already begun.

The popular site confirms that part of the current pre-show is bypassed and riders now walk toward the loading area instead. Although things have already started changing, coaster aficionados will undoubtedly keep those lines long all day.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith first opened at the Hollywood Studios theme park (previously MGM Studios) in 1999. Its just one of the many attractions that Disney has chosen to refurbish in recent years, as imagineers constantly work to keep things fresh.

For example, Splash Mountain was rethemed to Tiana's Bayou Adventure, inspired by The Princess and the Frog, in June 28, at Magic Kingdom. The same change was implemented at Disneyland in November 2024.

Hollywood Studios is expected to be packed much of the day. The park is open until 9 p.m. local time.

Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Tom Petty Honored With Special INDYCAR Livery For 50th Anniversary

Sun, 03/01/2026 - 10:14am

Rock and open-wheel racing will collide this weekend.

A special INDYCAR paint scheme celebrating the 50th anniversary of Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers will debut at Sunday’s Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, marking an unexpected tribute at the start of the 2026 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season.

RELATED: Fans Stunned by How Tom Petty’s Legacy Is Quietly Changing Lives

As part of SiriusXM’s continued partnership with INDYCAR, Felix Rosenqvist’s No. 60 Honda will feature a Tom Petty Radio-themed livery for the season opener on the Streets of St. Petersburg. The tribute highlights five decades since Petty and the Heartbreakers first emerged as one of American rock’s defining bands.

Tom Petty Radio, available on SiriusXM channel 31, features music spanning Petty’s career, including exclusive tracks from his personal archives and episodes of his “Buried Treasure” radio show. The commemorative car design brings that legacy to the racetrack, blending rock history with motorsport spectacle.

The St. Petersburg race officially launches the 2026 INDYCAR campaign, which includes 18 events across the season, culminating with the 110th Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge in May.

RELATED: ’70s Rock Icon Who Died in 2017 Getting New Documentary ‘Music of My Soul’

SiriusXM announced it will provide live coverage of every race this season on its INDYCAR Nation channel (channel 218 in vehicles and on the SiriusXM app). Coverage will also include qualifying and practice sessions, along with weekly INDYCAR programming such as “Brick-by-Brick,” hosted by Jack Arute and 2013 Indy 500 champion Tony Kanaan, and the racing podcast “Off Track with Hinch & Rossi.”

But for many fans, the most eye-catching element of the season opener may be the Petty tribute itself.

With the band’s 50th anniversary serving as the inspiration, the special livery adds a layer of cultural nostalgia to the high-speed action—a reminder that milestone moments in music can find celebration far beyond the stage.

Sunday’s Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg begins at noon ET, ushering in a new racing season with a distinctly rock-and-roll flair.

Former Bond Girl and ‘Sex and the City’ Star, 68, Is Aging Like a Fine Wine on the Red Carpet in Paris

Sun, 03/01/2026 - 9:44am

Former Bond girl Carole Bouquet is a French beauty who is simply getting better with age.

The model and actress, 68, is best known for her role as Melina Havelock opposite Roger Moore as James Bond in 1981’s For Your Eyes Only. Bouquet then went on to become the face of Chanel No. 5, a coveted role desired by women around the world. So when the classic beauty hit the red carpet to attend the premiere of La Maison Des Femmes this week in Paris, we were delighted to see her looking better than ever.

Back in January, the beauty let her hair down and sported a classic red lip for another appearance. Now that's aging like a fine wine!

Filming with Roger Moore

Filming For Your Eyes Only sounded like quite an interesting experience for the cast. Bouquet played Melina, the daughter of marine archaeologists who are murdered while tracking down the Automatic Targeting Attack Communicator (ATAC) system used by the Ministry of Defense. Actor Jack Klaff, who played the villain Apostis, told Yahoo Entertainment back in 2021 that working with Roger Moore was a wild experience.

“Roger was very unassuming, but he knew his place; he knew that he was the star,” Klaff shared. “When we were on Corfu, he would arrive each morning in his own boat with a cigar and always say, ‘Never fear, The Saint is here.’ Roger told an awful lot of really, really filthy jokes. His twinkle was Olympic class.”

Here's a look at the trailer of the popular film:

Her Sex and the City Appearance

Bouquet’s acting career is still thriving these days. She left a strong impression with a cameo on Sex and the City as the ex-wife of Mikhail Baryshnikov‘s character, Aleksandr Petrovsky, in season six. Who could forget her offering Sarah Jessica Parker‘s Carrie Bradshaw a cigarette as they sit in a Paris restaurant chatting about her ex? (“I thought you might be one of those Americans who didn’t smoke. And I would be… how do you say… Guilty of killing you over lunch?”) However, she’s had endless roles throughout the years, appearing in everything from In Therapy to Apple TV+’s recent French-language series, La Maison.

What Matthew McConaughey Told Timothée Chalamet at 17 That He's Never Forgotten

Sun, 03/01/2026 - 9:12am

Timothée Chalamet was 17 years old and had no idea how a tractor worked. Matthew McConaughey told him he should.

Even though it seems small, that moment on the set of Christopher Nolan's Interstellar is one Chalamet says he has never forgotten. More than a decade later, with an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor on his résumé, he still talks about it.

The two reunited at a CNN and Variety Town Hall at the University of Texas at Austin's Moody College of Communication, where McConaughey teaches a film course called 'Script to Screen.' Sitting before a live audience of students, Chalamet credited those ten days on the 2014 Nolan film as the turning point of his career.

'I worked ten production days,' Chalamet said. 'You obviously worked probably 60 or 90 on that movie. For me it was a humble ten days. But they put me on a trajectory.'

McConaughey remembered a young man with what he called a 'feverish curiosity' who was torn between pursuing acting immediately or going to college, with pressure coming largely from his mother. He encouraged Chalamet to sit in that uncertainty rather than rush out of it.

But it was the tractor question that really stuck with Chalamet. McConaughey looked at Chalamet on set and asked how the nearby tractor worked. Chalamet had no idea. When he laughed it off, McConaughey didn't.

'You should really know,' McConaughey told him. 'If you were on this farm, you would know.'

Chalamet went back to his hotel that night, printed research, and knocked on McConaughey's trailer door the next morning to show him.

'That means a lot, as an actor,' Chalamet said at the Town Hall. 'All you risk is looking foolish, because it's a tremendously foolish job. If you can embrace that, nothing can stop you.'

McConaughey said the warmth was easy to give. 'You're pretty easy to be warm to,' he told Chalamet on stage.

What followed for Chalamet was three years of not working. He went back to college. But he said watching McConaughey, Nolan, and Jessica Chastain on that set gave him what he needed to keep going.

'It gave me the fuel,' he said.

McConaughey said he saw it coming even then. 'It was clear to me that whatever this young man does latch onto, he will catch it.'

Chalamet is nominated at the 97th Academy Awards on March 2 for Best Actor for his performance in Josh Safdie's Marty Supreme. He has also wrapped Dune: Part Three, which he described at the Town Hall as the project he is most proud of to date.

Aldi's $15 Cordless Car Vacuum Does All of the Dirty Work to Clean Your Ride With Ease

Sun, 03/01/2026 - 9:05am

Sometimes cleaning your car feels 10 times harder than cleaning your house, even though it's a lot smaller. You're already on this nonstop hamster wheel trying to keep the kitchen counters clear and the laundry under control. Adding "deep clean the car" to the list feels like a bridge too far.

And yet there you are, sitting in traffic with all the time in the world to stare at the dust on the dashboard and the mystery crumbs in the cupholder. It's like being trapped in a tiny, cluttered room with nowhere else to look, and it just feels gross. That's when the idea of a cordless car vacuum starts to feel not just like a good idea, but a necessity.

Ambiano Cordless Car Vacuum, $14.99 at Aldi

Aldi

The thing is, your car is basically your second home. You drink your coffee there, take calls there, and maybe even decompress there for a minute before heading inside. So when it starts feeling grimy, it really gets under your skin. Keeping it clean doesn't have to turn into a full Saturday overhaul. Sometimes all you need is the right little tool to make it easy, like Aldi's Ambiano Cordless Car Vacuum Cleaner.

Related: Shoppers Say Costco's 'Sturdy' Foldable Trellis Is So Beautiful, They're Buying Two

For $14.99, this thing is a workhorse in terms of picking up that smattering of random crumbs from your morning muffin and other light jobs. Could it clean your living room? No, but it isn't supposed to. You'll need a bigger Aldi vacuum for that.

This cordless car vacuum comes in four different colorway options. There's the baby blue shown above, plus beige, black and something called "monument," which looks a whole lot like dark grey. It comes with three nifty accessories, one of which can inflate things like an air mattress or kiddie pool.

Aldi has so many great finds right now to help you get your act together, apart from this convenient car vacuum. There are the stylish hanging baskets that help corral clutter, and a foldable trunk organizer to make that part of your car look less like a garage sale gone wrong and more like a functional space.

Does a cordless car vacuum feel a little extra? Maybe. But just think of how much more zen you'll feel in bumper-to-bumper traffic when your kid's rogue goldfish crackers aren't distracting you in the backseat.

'80s Rock Frontman Proves He's 'The Consummate Rock & Roll Showman' on Recent Tour Stop

Sun, 03/01/2026 - 9:03am

Fifty years after forming, Styxis still one of the biggest touring acts, and songs like "Mr. Roboto" and "Come Sail Away" remain playlist favorites. It’s hard to imagine attending a sporting event or watching a singing competition reality TV show without hearing "Renegade" belted out in all its glory. Like many long-running bands, the Styx lineup has changed over the years. Currently on tour, the band’s frontman is earning high praise from fans calling him “the consummate Rock & Roll showman.” Watching social media videos from recent Styx concerts in Florida certainly makes the case.

Styx’s Current Lineup and Florida Tour Buzz @thebandstyx

Florida, watcha doin' this weekend? We'll be at The BayCare Sound in Clearwater tomorrow and The Saint Augustine Amphitheatre on Saturday. See you there? 🤘 #styx #thebandstyx

♬ original sound - Styx - Styx

Currently making the rounds through Florida amphitheaters, the current Styx lineup is comprised of James “JY” Young (guitar, vocals), Tommy Shaw (guitar, vocals), Chuck Panozzo (appearing at select shows on bass), Todd Sucherman (drums), Lawrence Gowan (keyboards, vocals) and Will Evankovich (guitar). Coverage of recent Styx shows highlights Gowan, 69, rocking like it’s 1999, when he replaced lead vocalist Dennis DeYoungand never looked back.

While many devout Styx fans still long for DeYoung’s return, Gowan’s energetic theatrics continue to dazzle audiences, with one commenting, “I've seen Styx twice and Mr. Lawrence Gowan never disappoints! The consummate rock & roll showman who plays the keyboards like no other.”

Another gushed, “Just saw them last night in Estero, for the first time ever. What a show! Go see it, thank me later.”

“Sounds great as usual,” wrote another.

The Legacy of Styx’s Hits and Staying Power @thebandstyx

Styx is bringing the full show to Georgia and Florida this February. Be there! Tickets at styxworld.com. #thebandstyx

♬ original sound - Styx - Styx

Lineup changes can be hard on fans. DeYoung was an impressive stage presence whose unique vocals were part of Styx’s iconic original sound. But the band’s staying power has always been built on their high-octane live shows and deep connection with their audience, while continuing to introduce their music to new fans as a touring staple performing more than 100 shows a year. Styx is the rare rock band whose songs have been able to transcend who is singing them.

The public’s appetite for nostalgia and ‘80s culture has never been stronger. Films like Pretty in Pink recently celebrated milestone anniversaries, while musical acts like Metallica and AC/DC continue to reign supreme as popular touring forces performing for sold-out crowds night after night.

Styx’s unique combination of progressive rock, hard rock and power ballads dominated radio in the 1970s and 1980s, with albums like The Grand Illusion, Pieces of Eight and Paradise Theatre helping define the era. The band’s current tour stops, fronted by Gowan, are a testament to the importance and legacy of Styx’s impressive and impactful catalog of hits.

John Travolta's 1976 Top 10 Hit Song Led to Career-Defining Movie Role

Sun, 03/01/2026 - 8:59am

In 1976, John Travolta was best known as the breakout star on Welcome Back, Kotter. The actor played Vinnie Barbarino on the ABCsitcom, which aired from 1975 to 1979. But by the show’s fourth and final season, Barbarino was seen less and less, and that’s because Travolta was on his way to becoming a major movie star.

The change came in 1976, when Travolta released a pop-rock single titled “Let Her In.” The song appeared on the star’s self-titled album that year and became a hit. “Let Her In” peaked at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 in July 1976 and remained on the charts for 20 weeks.

A push from ‘American Bandstand’

Buzz for the song came after Travolta’s April 1976 appearance on American Bandstand. Host Dick Clark introduced the young actor as someone fans would recognize “from Welcome Back, Kotter as the man who plays Barbarino." "Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. John Travolta!" he announced, as the actor appeared onstage wearing an orange turtle neck and black jeans.

After performing the song on TV for the first time, Travolta said, “I want to thank everybody for giving me that response because this is the first time. … It's nice to sing when there's a lot of affinity going on in the air, you know.”

After Clark asked him about his musical background, Travolta replied, ”Well, I'm from New Jersey… and in order to survive in New York City as an actor, you had to learn how to sing  and dance. ...I took voice lessons for like two or three years,” he added.

While he was still known as a TV star at the time, Travolta dished that he had landed an exciting big-screen role. “I'm working on a movie now called Carrie,” he told Clark. “And I'm very excited about it because it's the first time in a movie I've been able to act, and it's a serious, dramatic role. And I've done a lot of comedy, and I think I'd like to get into that area a little bit.”

More movies--and more songs

After Carrie, Travolta starred in the film Saturday Night Fever, where he showed off his dancing skills as Tony Manero. One year later, Travolta’s career skyrocketed when he starred as Danny Zuko in the film version of Grease. The actor recorded multiple Top 10 hits for the soundtrack with co-star Olivia Newton-John, including “Summer Nights” and “You’re the One That I Want.”

In an interview posted by Blackfilm, Travolta credited "Let Her In" for helping to pave the way for his singing role in Grease.

“The good news about that is that it allowed me to do something like Grease, which I wouldn't have if I hadn't done that song,” he shared. “Because that's what stirred them on saying, ’Oh, he can sing, too. Let's pull him into this.’"

During an interview with CNN’s Larry King, Travolta noted that while he had a few hits in the ‘70s, the first big one was “Let Her In.”

Travolta also admitted that he was encouraged to continue on as a rock star, but he followed his bigger passion. “I was much more attracted to acting by nature, because that was what I grew up doing,” the Oscar nominee explained. “But I didn't mind every once in a while, you know, doing that as well, singing.”

This 1975 No. 1 Hit Was Written in a West Hollywood Restaurant Booth — and Became The Eagles’ Breakthrough Smash

Sun, 03/01/2026 - 8:49am

Fifty-one years ago today, the Eagles soared to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 with "Best of My Love," their first No. 1 single and a defining soft-rock anthem of the 1970s. The hit, featured on their 1974 album On the Border, began taking shape in an unlikely place: a booth at Dan Tana's, where Don Henley later recalled working on the lyrics near the famed Troubadour.

Interestingly, it seems the melody for "The Best of My Love" was created by chance.

"I was playing acoustic guitar one afternoon in Laurel Canyon," Glenn Frey told Cameron Crowe in 2003. "I was trying to figure out a tuning that Joni Mitchell had shown me a couple of days earlier. I got lost and ended up with the guitar tuning for what would later turn out to be 'The Best of My Love.'"

Dan Tana's is located on Santa Monica Blvd in West Hollywood and was a popular hangout spot for the Eagles. The band famously wrote the track "Lyin' Eyes" on a napkin at the restaurant.

According to American Songwriter, some of the band members were hanging out at the Italian eatery one day when they saw an attractive female with an older man. Frey said to Henry, "she can’t even hide those lying eyes," and, from there, the song's lyrics pretty much wrote themselves. The guys started taking notes on napkins based on what was happening around them. According to Frey, it took the band just two nights to compose the song.

The Eagles have a big 2026 ahead, with upcoming shows at The Sphere in Las Vegas. The band received rave reviews after their shows at the venue in 2024.

“For more than 50 years, the Eagles have been painting vivid pictures with their music, from the dark desert highway of ‘Hotel California’ to the billion stars all around of ‘Peaceful Easy Feeling’ to the cold, cold city of ‘Life in the Fast Lane.’ On Friday night, those images came to intense life at Las Vegas’ Sphere, where the technology of 2024 finally caught up to the band’s enduring artistry and created a technicolor display worthy of their classic, illustrative songs from the 1970s and beyond," Billboard said.

This Lifestyle Factor Predicts Brain Aging Better Than Genetics, According to Neurologists

Sun, 03/01/2026 - 8:30am

The statistics surrounding dementia and Alzheimer’s are alarming. According to the Alzheimer’s Association, more than 7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s, a disease that is a form of dementia, which is an umbrella term for a range of symptoms involving cognitive decline.

Since dementia and Alzheimer’s touch so many lives, you can likely think of at least one person who has it. If someone in your family was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, you may wonder if this means that a diagnosis is in your future too.

Related: 'I'm a Neurologist—These 3 Popular Supplement Combinations Can Make Your Brain Age Faster'

According to Dr. Majid Fotuhi, MD, PhD, a neurologist and the author of The Invincible Brain, having a family history of dementia or Alzheimer’s doesn’t mean you will get it too. He says it’s even more unlikely if your family member developed dementia later in life. “Late-life cognitive decline has a very small genetic component."

Dr. Fotuhi says that the same is true for dementia in general. “There is an important difference between early-onset Alzheimer’s disease, which is rare and driven by specific gene mutations, and late-onset Alzheimer’s disease, which represents more than 95% of cases and is strongly shaped by lifestyle, vascular health and daily habits,” he explains.

In fact, all four neurologists we spoke with say that diet and lifestyle predict how one’s brain will age more strongly than genetics, especially when it comes to one specific habit.

How Much Does Diet and Lifestyle Impact Brain Health as We Age?

monticelllo/Getty Images

Neurologist Dr. Doug Strobel, MD, says that diet and lifestyle almost entirely control brain health related to aging, not genetics. While genetics isn’t a primary driver of dementia, Dr. Strobel says that the mere act of getting older is a risk factor. This is because cumulative biological changes can make the brain more vulnerable to damage. It’s similar to why age is a risk factor for heart disease; the body becomes less resilient over time. The same is true for the brain. For this reason, the probability of developing dementia doubles roughly every five years.

Related: Doing This One Thing Will Help Your Brain Age Better Than Just About Anything Else, a Top Neurologist Says

You can’t control getting older, but you can control your diet and lifestyle habits, something all four neurologists we talked to say is crucial for supporting an aging brain. “Diet and lifestyle play equally important roles in healthy brain aging,” says neurologist Dr. Jon Stewart Hao Dy, MD

Dr. Dy explains that this includes eating a variety of nutrient-rich foods, exercising regularly, getting enough sleep and regularly participating in stimulating activities, such as playing music, dancing or going to cultural events. “If these diet and lifestyle habits are combined, cognitive health and function can be preserved, at the very least, as one ages,” Dr. Dy says.

Dr. Fotuhi also says that healthy diet and lifestyle habits can control how healthy their brain will age almost entirely. “Your choices about diet, exercise, stress management, sleep and how much you challenge your brain daily have a profound impact on how well you preserve and grow your brain capacity with aging,” he notes.

He believes in five pillars of brain health: exercise, sleep, brain-healthy nutrition, positive mindset and brain training (targeted games, exercises and activities aimed at supporting cognitive health). “All five pillars matter and they work together to maintain and boost our cognitive capacity with aging,” Dr. Fotuhi says.

While having brain-healthy habits in place can go a long way in protecting cognitive health as we age, Dr. Charalampos Tzoulis, MD, PhD, a neurology professor at the University of Bergen, says that we can't control how our brain will age completely.

"We can influence risk, but we cannot fully control it. If we had complete control, we would already have solved much of the growing global burden of brain aging and neurodegenerative disease. But we do know that the same factors linked to good general health are also associated with healthier brain aging and a lower risk of dementia," Dr. Tzoulis says.

The Habit That Matters Most When It Comes to the Aging Brain, According to Neurologists

While all of the aforementioned habits are important for supporting brain health as we age, Dr. Hy and Dr. Strobel believe that following a brain-healthy diet is most important. Three eating plans scientifically linked to reducing the risk of dementia are the Mediterranean diet, the DASH diet and the MIND diet. In fact, the MIND diet was created specifically for lowering the risk of dementia.

All three of these eating plans emphasize eating a wide range of fruits, vegetables, plant-based proteins, whole grains and foods high in omega-3 fatty acids such as seafood, nuts and olive oil. “You need a whole food, plant-based diet if you want to overcome your memory loss or your potential for memory loss,” Dr. Strobel says.

Dr. Hy agrees, saying that this is especially the case for a stroke-related type of dementia called vascular dementia, which is the second most common form of dementia in the U.S. “Vascular risk factor prevention and control through proper diet and nutrition is probably the single most important factor in preventing accelerated brain atrophy, brain aging and dementia,” he explains.

One of the reasons why primarily plant-based eating plans are scientifically linked to reducing the risk of dementia is that foods like fruit, vegetables, legumes, nuts, seeds, spices and herbs are all high in antioxidants. Antioxidants help reduce inflammation in the brain and protect it from neurodegenerative diseases.

This Lifestyle Factor Should Be Prioritized Too

While Dr. Sy and Dr. Strobel believe that diet is most important when it comes to brain health, Dr. Fotuhi believes that exercise plays a more prominent role. “Exercise is the cornerstone of brain vitality. It is the most powerful and consistently supported strategy we have for protecting cognitive function as we age.  When it comes to brain health, I believe exercise is the fountain of youth,” he says.

Dr. Fotuhi explains that exercise impacts the brain on a cellular level by increasing the number and efficiency of mitochondria, the energy factories inside neurons. “It stimulates the birth of new neurons in the hippocampus, the thumb-size brain structure for learning and memory that can shrink with aging,” he says.

Scientific research shows that exercise can literally make the hippocampus bigger. In one study, aerobic activity was shown to increase the hippocampus. Considering the fact that the brain naturally shrinks with age, this is pretty incredible.

“Even moderate activity makes a difference. Research shows that people who walk about 5,000 steps a day or more tend to have lower levels of amyloid, the toxic protein that accumulates and contributes to brain atrophy in patients with Alzheimer’s disease,” Dr. Fotuhi says.

Mitigating the risk of dementia doesn’t just come down to one factor. The truth is, every part of how you live impacts the brain, not just one habit. "Rather than looking for a single 'magic bullet,' the strongest message is that brain health is built over time through multiple habits and relationships," Dr. Tzoulis says.

With this in mind, the more brain-healthy habits you have in place, the better. Start with following a brain-healthy diet, but don’t stop there. Your cognitive health depends on it.

Blazers, Brooches, and Bold Colors: Shop This Year’s Top Fashion Trends Starting at $10

Sun, 03/01/2026 - 8:30am

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

One of the only constants in the world of fashion is change. New trends seem to take hold at a mind-boggling pace, and while some have staying power, others fall out of style almost as quickly as they arrive. Last year, for example, shoppers embraced barrel jeans, cowboy boots, suede bags, and the often elusive viral plushies known as Labubus. Experts are noticing some interesting changes in the fashion world in 2026, and we checked in to get their takes on what to look out for this year.

“Last year leaned into bold, viral trends. This year, people are choosing comfortable, versatile pieces that work for real life with touches of femininity and personal style,” said Lola Torres, a fashion creator with nearly 2 million followers on Instagram and over one million on TikTok. “There’s more focus on fit, fabric, and longevity — especially with basics and intimates.”

Anna Lavo, a celebrity stylist who works with Bravo stars and has over 350,000 followers on Instagram, agrees that shoppers are focusing more on pieces that speak to their unique tastes than fleeting fashion moments. “After years of extremes, fashion is settling into something more intentional, powerful, and personal,” she said.

Read on for 10 specific fashion trends experts believe we’ll see in 2026 as shoppers prioritize pieces that are more practical, multipurpose, and rooted in personality. We’ve also rounded up some styles below that make it easy to embrace each of these trends — and they start at just $10.

Bold Colors

Vibrant hues are hot in 2026, according to celebrity stylist and author Kim Appelt. With spring fast approaching, there’s no better time to jump in on the trend. “We can't ignore the big and bold color blocking everywhere. Bright colors are on the trend list. Paired together, these are fun and will add some pop into the spring,” Appelt said.

Matching a bolder hue with something neutral is also a great way to make a statement that isn’t overly flashy, according to both Appelt and Lavo. “Start with one color you love — a coat, bag, or shoe — and build neutrals around it. Color should enhance the outfit, not overwhelm it,” Lavo said.

UVN Floral Print Sundress, $15 (was $30) at Walmart Mini Klare Crossbody Bag, $139 (was $250) at Coach Outlet Gazelle Indoor Shoes, From $104 (were $130) at Adidas Relaxed Tailoring

Love style with some subtle structure? If so, you’re not alone. Torres and Lavo said that many people are embracing relaxed outfits with a bit of a tailored edge. “Traditional tailoring has significantly softened to match real life and comfort-based wardrobes,” Torres noted.

The trend entails more oversized blazers, wide leg trousers, and tailored pants with a bit of stretch or flow. Rather than donning a whole suit, Lavo said you can nail the relaxed tailoring vibe by pairing something polished with something a little softer. “Let one tailored piece lead the outfit,” she said. suggesting layering a “sharp blazer over a simple tank and jeans” or wearing “tailored trousers with a soft knit.”

Prettygarden Casual Blazer, From $43 (was $50) at Walmart Lee Ultra Lux Comfort Trouser Pant, From $25 (was $43) at Amazon Leith Longline Tailored Vest, From $35 (was $70) at Nordstrom Rack Bandanas and Scarves

While these have been a go-to accessory for quite some time, Torres expects they’ll be especially popular this year as people find unique new ways to style them. Think bandanas and scarves “worn in hair, around the neck, on bags, as belts, asymmetrically wrapped around the waist over pants or styled as tops,” she said.

Torres noticed the trend gain momentum near the end of last year, and believes it will continue to evolve in 2026 as shoppers “look for easy ways to personalize their outfits.”

“Scarves make personal styling simpler, they add color, texture, and intention to even the most basic look,” she added.

Chlins Satin Square Head Scarves Set, From $12 (was $14) at Amazon On 34th Dainty Floral Square Scarf, $22 (was $37) at Macy's Floral Printed Cotton Gauze Bandana, $22 at Anthropologie Brooches

One thing to know about fashion is that defunct trends have a way of creeping back into popularity long after they initially lost favor. This year, nostalgic consumers are once again reaching for vintage-style, heirloom-inspired jewelry like brooches.

“People will find it easy to pin a brooch on a blazer, cardigan, scarf, bags, button ups or slip dresses to elevate a simple look,” Torres said.

If you’re not lucky enough to have an actual heirloom brooch in your jewelry box, retailers like Anthropologie, Macy's, and Amazon have stunning options that emulate the vintage look starting at $23.

Siortio Vintage-Style Enamel Jasmine Flower Brooch, $17 at Amazon Monogram and Heart Brooch Set, $12 (was $42) at Anthropologie Anne Klein Gold-Tone Crystal Hummingbird and Flower Pin, $32 at Macy’s Lace Pieces and Accents

One fabric you may see everywhere in 2026? According to Torres, lace is having a moment as both an accent and focal point in outfits.

“In 2025, we saw the beginning of this trend with lace trims on tanks, skirts, dresses and slips. However, this year I believe we’ll see more sheer lace layering pieces and full lace dresses that feel delicate rather than dramatic.”

If you’re looking to embrace this romantic trend in a way that’s a little more subtle, you can opt for pieces with lace trim or layer a lace top under a sweater or blazer. If you’re going for a more maximalist vibe, you may want to focus on full lace pieces or “sheer layering styled with denim or oversized outerwear,” Torres said.

Drop Waist Skirts

Another style that’s having a moment in 2026? According to Appelt, shoppers are flocking to skirts with drop waist silhouettes. This style stands out because it’s “beautiful, fluid, and has so much movement.” Appelt, who is a big proponent of dressing in ways that work best for each unique body type, also noted that drop waist skirts can add volume and balance to a look.

The style has already firmly taken hold in the retail world, with Amazon, Walmart, Banana Republic, and a plethora of other retailers currently offering drop waist skirts starting at only $28.

Cider Gingham Drop Waist Maxi Skirt, From $28 (was $30) at Amazon Free Assembly Drop Waist Plaid Tweed Mini Skirt, $26 at Walmart Astr the Label Drop Waist Cotton Blend Skirt, $40 (was $85) at Nordstrom Rack Military-Style Jackets

Military-style jackets — specifically iterations that are cropped and fitted with prominent button detailing — are getting a lot of love from fashion savvy consumers this year as well.

This is another trend that can adapt particularly well to spring 2026, as many military jackets have a medium weight that’s perfect for transitional weather. “They highlight the waist naturally and can be a great alternative for a leather jacket or blazer in the spring,” Appelt said.

Tommy Hilfiger Band Jacket, From $48 (was $110) at Amazon Gemma and Jane Military Band Jacket, $40 (was $140) at Nordstrom Rack Nautica Jeans Women's Open-Front Captain's Jacket, $63 (was $90) at Macy's Luxurious, Flowy Fabrics

This year, designers and shoppers don’t just want their clothes to look great. They want them to feel great, too. Appelt said that soft, flowy fabrics and relaxed fits have popped up on runways, and some are “almost pajama-like, but capable of elevating to going out in style.” Shoppers can embrace the trend by donning flowy tops, wide-leg satin pants, and “pieces that skim instead of cling,” Appelt added.

Lavo agreed that there’s more of an emphasis on fabric quality, fit, and wearability in the fashion world right now as shoppers hone in on a “smart luxury” aesthetic. For those who want to join in on the movement, she recommended investing in fewer pieces that are good quality and can be styled several ways, like coats, pants, and purses. “If something fits beautifully and feels good on your body, it will always look luxurious.

Renee C Satin A-Line Skirt, $35 (was $105) at Nordstrom Rack Suuksess Cashmere Blend Oversized Sweater, From $46 (was $70) at Amazon High-Waisted Playa Wide Leg Pants, $29 (were $40) at Old Navy Balloon Pants

Balloon pants have also found a strong footing in the fashion world. The style, which you can shop right now at a wide variety of retailers and brands, features super flowy, relaxed legs that are tapered at the ankle to create a balloon-like effect. They’re great for adding “volume and movement” on the lower half of an outfit, Appelt said. Some options lean a little more casual or sporty, but others are polished enough to wear to work.

I.N.C. Crinkle Chiffon Balloon Joggers, $25 (were $85) at Macy's Boho Flowy Balloon Pants, $18 (were $19) at Amazon Pull-On Bubble Windbreaker Pants, $28 (were $47) at Old Navy Statement Accessories

Whether it’s through their bags, belts, jewelry, or shoes, shoppers are leveraging their accessories to add extra pop to their looks. This tactic works especially well when you pair statement accessories with outfits that embody the trendy elevated minimalism aesthetic.

“As clothing becomes cleaner and more minimal, accessories naturally take center stage,” Lavo said. “Designers are using accessories as the personality and focal point of the look.”

Lavo recommends choosing one bold accessory to elevate an outfit, rather than overwhelming a look with multiple statement pieces.

Kayla Small Crossbody, $95 (was $329) at Kate Spade Outlet Idunnverve Gold Buckle Statement Belt, $20 at Amazon Chunky Puff Hoop Earrings, $38 at Anthropologie

Savannah Guthrie's Mom Nancy Evidence: What We Know as Case Hits 1 Month Mark

Sun, 03/01/2026 - 8:14am

Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie‘s mom, Nancy Guthrie, is still missing as her case officially hit the one-month mark on March 1—but what evidence has been gathered so far?

Let's take a closer look at everything investigators have shared that could help find the 84-year-old after she was abducted from her Tucson, Ariz., home on Feb. 1

Blood Found on Nancy's Porch Belonged to Her

Nancy was last seen at her Tucson residence on Jan. 31. Immediately after Savannah's mom went missing, investigators found blood on the front porch of Nancy's home. Testing confirmed that the blood belonged to Nancy, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed.

Her Pacemaker Disconnected at 2 a.m. Feb. 1

On Feb. 3, a law enforcement source told Fox News Digital that Nancy’s pacemaker last synced with her Apple devices at roughly 2 a.m. on Feb. 1. Investigators said they believe that’s when the 84-year-old was taken out of range; her Apple Watch was left behind.

Additionally, law enforcement sources told CBS News that investigators used a tracking device called a "signal sniffer" in hopes of detecting signals from Nancy's pacemaker.

Also in early February, Nanos shared that DNA evidence was found at the crime scene.

“We took some samples that we hope will have enough profile of a DNA—profile that gives us some identification as to what we’re looking at,” he said in a clip that aired on Today.

Although Nanos said at the time that it would still take “several more days” for conclusive DNA test results for the samples from the crime scene, weeks later, he shared a discouraging update.

“Our lab tells us that there are challenges with it," he said in late February, per Fox News. "The technology is moving so fast and in such a frenzy that they think some of this stuff will resolve itself just in a matter of weeks, months, or maybe a year,” Nanos said.

Doorbell Camera Footage Showed a Masked Suspect on Nancy's Porch

On Feb. 10, FBI Director Kash Patelreleased images and video footage from a Nest doorbell camera on Nancy's front porch showing a masked alleged suspect.

"Over the last eight days, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been working closely with our private sector partners to continue to recover any images or video footage from Nancy Guthrie’s home that may have been lost, corrupted, or inaccessible due to a variety of factors—including the removal of recording devices," Patel explained in an X post. "The video was recovered from residual data located in backend systems."

He continued, "Working with our partners—as of this morning, law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie's front door the morning of her disappearance."

The Man's Backpack, Clothing & Gloves in the Nest Video Are Also Evidence

Investigators honed in on the clothing and backpack of the masked suspect in Nancy's Nest camera footage. Nanos told CBS News that the clothing and face mask might have been purchased at Walmart, either in person at a store or online.

Meanwhile, the FBI confirmed that the suspect in the video footage was carrying a black, 25-liter Ozark Trail Hiker Pack backpack, which is sold exclusively at Walmart. Nanos said the backpack was "one of the most promising leads" in Nancy's case.

The masked suspect also had a $10 gun holster from Walmart, per Fox News.

A Video of a Speeding Car Near Nancy's Home Could Also Be Evidence

On February 26, video footage was released from a camera at a Tucson home about 2.5 miles away from Nancy's residence, Fox News reported. It showed a car speeding past the home minutes after Nancy's pacemaker disconnected. Although the FBI and Pima County Sheriff's Department were alerted to the video, it's not clear whether it has been of use, or whether the car had been on Nancy's street.

As of writing, Nancy is still missing, and Savannah has offered a $1 million reward for information that leads to her mom's recovery.

Those with any information about Nancy’s missing case are advised to contact the FBI tip line at 1-800-CALL-FBI.

Nancy Guthrie Latest Update: Former FBI Agent Discusses 'Antenna' Seen in Perp's Pocket

Sun, 03/01/2026 - 8:13am

Nancy Guthrie has been missing since Sunday, Feb. 1 and despite tireless efforts between the FBI and the Pima County Sheriff's Department, no suspect has been identified in the case. Authorities believe that Guthrie, 84, may have been abducted from her Arizona home in the middle of the night. And, despite video footage obtained from a Google Nest camera that shows an armed individual at Guthrie's front door on the night she went missing, the case has yet to have a big break.

After photos and videos of the aforementioned armed individual were released to the public, people have been analyzing every aspect. Some internet users, for example, believe that the person is wearing a ring, perhaps on the pinky finger, as an outline can be seen under one of the black gloves. Others have pointed out that the perp's backpack appeared to be full, despite the person seemingly just arriving to Guthrie's home.

Another thing that was noticeable in the photos was something that looked like an antenna sticking out of the perp's front right pocket. NewsNation's Brian Entin sat down with former FBI agent Tracy Walder who said that the antenna could be part of a walkie talkie that was used in lieu of a cell phone.

"I can't confirm what's in his pocket," Walder told Entin. "The walkie talkie makes sense in the fact that...I feel a getaway vehicle is gonna be critical in this case if there's someone else that helped, and so that would be a way—obviously you wouldn't want to use a cell phone—that would be a way in a short range to communicate with someone to bring a car to a certain location."

Walder also thought the antenna could have been a signal jammer, but she doesn't believe that the people involved did not bring cell phones to the scene.

"I think we would have him by now if he did," she told Entin.

After what appeared to be a final sweep of Guthrie's home in the Catalina Foothills last week, NBC News reported that the Pima County Sheriff's Department has turned the home back over to the Guthrie family. Police activity at the home has been sparse over the past couple of days.

Luke Grimes Explains Why He Almost Didn’t Return After 'Yellowstone' for New Spinoff 'Marshals' (Exclusive)

Sun, 03/01/2026 - 8:01am

Fans who thought they’d seen the last of Kayce Dutton haven’t reached the end of his story just yet. Luke Grimes is returning to the role in Marshals, a new Yellowstone spinoff that keeps the character in familiar territory — though the actor admits he wasn’t immediately convinced it was the right move. In fact, when he first heard the early concept for the series, he wasn’t sure he wanted to step back into Kayce's boots at all.

Ahead of the premiere, airing Sunday, March 1 on CBS, Grimes spoke exclusively with Parade about when he got the call, what ultimately changed his mind and where Kayce is emotionally as this next chapter begins.

🎬SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news& celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox🎬

How and when did you find out about Marshals? When were you given the call?
I got a call as we were filming the last episode of Yellowstone. So that would've been August of '24, I think, right around then. And at the time, because I was filming the last episode and I really liked the last episode and how it ended, I didn't know if this is something that I should do or not right off the bat. It took a while before I really started getting fired up about it and realized that it was the right call.

You mentioned you were slightly hesitant to step back into the character because of how Yellowstone ended. But what made you excited to go back into this world and the role of Kayce Dutton?
Once I heard the pitch for what Marshals was going to be, when I first heard the idea, it was just, "How about a Kayce Dutton procedural?" That sounded really terrible, to be honest. I thought that was a crazy idea. And then when I actually met Spencer (Hudnut, the series showrunner) and he pitched the idea, and not only the idea, but he was like, "We want this to have a procedural element, but it's sort of going to be this hybrid and kind of like no procedural you've seen before."

Which I was like, "Oh, we've all heard that before." But he was telling the truth, and it's the show that we made. There's storylines that go over multiple episodes and we'll go over multiple seasons and it's not just a straight-up procedural in the sense that we're used to, but the way that we use that is sort of a great device for all these combat missions that we go on so that you do get a bit of a payoff at the end of each episode.

Related: Samuel L. Jackson’s New Taylor Sheridan Show Just Got a Massive Update

How will Marshals be different or similar to Yellowstone?
Similar in the fact that you've got some of the same characters. You got some familiar faces, similar because I think because of the scenery, you're still in the West, you're still in the mountains and these beautiful places. But I think it is different in the sort of pacing of it. This is a much faster-paced show. There's a lot more action in this show. I just feel like it's just a lot more high-energy, action-packed show.

Where's your character emotionally when we first meet him in this new chapter?
He's not doing too well. And I know how that sounds, no one's shocked to hear that about Kayce because he's had a rough go pretty much the whole original series. But kind of the worst thing that could possibly happen to him has happened to him, and that's where we meet him. And so the whole driving force of this show is, what does somebody do when they're faced with the hardest thing possible? And he decides to fight for his happiness and for change in his life.

Why do you think audiences still connect so deeply with stories set in this world and your character in particular?
I think part of it, like I was saying, is that scenery of the West, the mountains, it's some of the most photographable, most beautiful places on earth. And I think people definitely have, there's a romanticism about living in a place like that and being outside all day, especially the more and more we're all getting sucked into our computers and our phones and our cubicles. So I think there's that. And I think with this show, there's something so great about the idea that you can be the good guy and go defeat the bad guy. That's just a classic trope that I think we all like.

1976 Disco Hit Ranked No. 1 'Best Prom Song to Dance the Night Away'

Sun, 03/01/2026 - 7:30am

The weather is starting to warm up, and spring break is in a few weeks. That means one thing: prom season will soon be here! It's the yearly time of making magical memories, wild limo rides, heartfelt romance, being young, and above all else— dancing!

After all, what is a prom without dancing? And while trends have changed throughout the decades, some timeless classics always find their way on the playlist. As seen on uDiscoverMusic's list of "The 25 Best Prom Songs to Dance The Night Away," there are some meme-worthy songs, like Chuck Berry's "Johnny B. Goode" (for all the Back to the Future fans), and sincere bops like Beach Bunny's "Prom Queen."

This year's prom playlist will likely have a lot of Bad Bunnyon it, thanks to his recent Album of the Year win at the Grammys and groundbreaking Super Bowl performance. So expect to hear "DtMF" alongside the John Hughes-approved OMD's "If You Leave" (No. 10 on the list) and Taylor Swift's "You Belong With Me" (No. 9).

Billy Idol was once again nominated for the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame in 2026; he has certified himself in the Prom Playlist Hall of Fame with his song, "Dancing With Myself" (No. 8). He joins two other '80s superstars with Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time" (for those slow dances) and David Bowie's "Let's Dance" at No. 7 and 6, respectively.

Disco reigns supreme in the list's top 5. Bee Gees' "You Should Be Dancing" and Donna Summer's "Last Dance" come in at No. 5 and 4; Lady Gaga's "Let's Dance," once ranked the "catchiest pop song of all time," is at No. 3, while Robyn's "Dancing On My Own" is at No. 2.

So, who is no. 1? Why, it's Abba, of course.

"This entry's placement at No.1 is a no-brainer," writes the team behind the list. "You can't have a playlist of the best prom songs (or any playlist at all) without ABBA. 'Dancing Queen' is distilled Euro-pop perfection – has one song ever contained so much pure joy? Even the most sullen teen at prom is not immune to ABBA."

Even Gene Simmons praised ABBA's "undeniable songwriting" (per Guitar.com)

Released in 1976 as the lead single from ABBA's fourth album, Arrival, "Dancing Queen" reached No. 1 in over a dozen countries, including the United States, making it ABBA's only No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. On the song's 40th anniversary, The Guardiandubbed "Dancing Queen" as "the best pop song ever."

"'Dancing Queen' is beautifully produced: catchy and euphoric, the perfect backdrop for a song that encapsulates the carefree bliss of youth," wrote editor Tom Jonze. "The sonic euphoria mirrors the freedom that the dancefloor can bring."

As "Dancing Queen" turns 50 in 2026, it remains one of the most popular songs of all time. On Spotify alone, it has 1.9 billion streams, and will certainly cross the two-billion mark as teens across the world don their fancy dresses, pin on their corsages, and head off to prom.

‘Below Deck’ Star Katie Flood Reveals ‘Gut-Wrenching’ 24 Hours in Dubai

Sun, 03/01/2026 - 7:28am

Imagine enjoying an afternoon boat ride with friends when a missile is suddenly intercepted overhead — that’s what former Below Deck Mediterranean chief stew Katie Flood witnessed in Dubai, later sharing the shocking moment on Instagram as she opened up about a terrifying 24 hours in the city.

Flood, who lives in Dubai, has been posting regular updates and firsthand accounts of the incident, which came as intercepted drones and missiles caused damage and injuries across Dubai and Abu Dhabi amid escalating regional tensions in the Middle East.

"I just wanted to say thank you to everybody who has messaged me, DM'd me...I am safe, the UAE is safe," she shared on her Instagram story. "I have full faith in our defense force here; they've been absolutely incredible, and they have intercepted every single missile and every single drone."

She continued, "In saying that, I'd be lying if I said it hasn't been a pretty f---ing scary 24 hours. Just the sound of an interception alone is pretty gut-wrenching."

Flood added that viewers should not believe everything they are seeing on "mainstream media. I guess to the best of our ability are somewhat good. I'm just sending love to everybody in the UAE. We're all going through this together."

Flood wasn't the only Below Deck crew member witnessing the strikes.Below Deck Down UnderSecond Officer João Franco shared on his Instagram story that "We can hear the bombings and interceptions from the port! Stay safe, people."

Franco also posted an image of an emergency alert urging residents to "seek immediate shelter" during the crisis and to "await for further instructions." He added, "Crazy times we live in."

The story continues to unfold in the Middle East. The death of Iran’s supreme leader in U.S. and Israeli strikes has escalated regional tensions, with Iran launching retaliatory attacks across multiple Middle Eastern countries, NBC News reports.

Outdoor rugs aren't the only spring-y items you'll find at Kohl's these days. The retailer is also selling the cheeriest 12-piece dinnerware set, perfect for the new season. If you're expecting house guests over spring break, it might be time to invest in a cozy, "boneless" sleeper chair. Or if you have a dedicated guest room (how fancy are you!), there's a floral comforter set that is the perfect warm-weather pick-me-up.

With that in mind, here's to blue skies and brighter days ahead because we all deserve it.
