Chris de Burgh laid his heart on the track when he sang his tune, "The Lady in Red," and the soft rock ballad remains a timeless classic 40 years later. Written as a surprise for his wife, it has long been recognized as a slow-dance anthem.

"He once said that the song was inspired by the memory of when he first saw Diane, and how men so often cannot even remember what their wives were wearing when they first met," according to Genius. Despite the descriptive title of the song, he later admitted that his wife was actually wearing white at the time, but "The Lady in White" didn't have the same romantic ring to it.

Released on June 20, 1986, as part of the artist's Into the Light album, it became an international smash hit, reaching No. 1 in Ireland, the United Kingdom, Canada, Norway, South Africa, and Belgium. In the United States, it was also a massive success, peaking at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, effectively transforming the singer into a mainstream talent.

"I've never seen you looking so gorgeous as you did tonight / I've never seen you shine so bright / You were amazing / I've never seen so many people want to be there by your side / And when you turned to me and smiled / It took my breath away / And I have never had such a feeling / Such a feeling of complete and utter love / As I do tonight," de Burgh croons on the sentimental track.

He once famously commented that the song was "not the best song I ever wrote"—and critics agreed. "That's an understatement. It's not even the best song on his latest album," journalist Dennis Hunt wrote in a June 1987 Los Angeles Times article. "Whether you like the song or not, it's easy to see why this syrupy ballad clicked with the masses, even though it doesn't have a particularly memorable melody, distinctive vocals or an ounce of subtlety. What it does boast, however, is the kind of gushing sentiment women love to hear from men — but seldom do."

Despite it not being a personal favorite, though, it remains a staple on soft rock playlists. At the time of writing, the track had gained over 649 million Spotify streams.

Anyone pouring into San Diego doesn't just visit the beach; the zoo is usually on the docket.

The Safari Park is arguably San Diego's best road trip since Escondido is roughly a half-hour drive from downtown, making for a fun family outing, which of course, usually involves lunch.

A wild bat was discovered dead roughly at noon last Saturday inside Oasis on the Rocks, one of the park's most popular eateries.

Fortunately, officials said there's no indication anyone came into contact with the bat, though they're continuing to investigate to confirm that.

Rabies Is More Common Than You Think In SoCal

Rabies is a potentially deadly viral disease that, once humans begin displaying symptoms, carries nearly a 100% fatality rate, according to the CDC.

The bat found at the Safari Park is the 19th confirmed rabies case in San Diego County in 2026 alone.

Officials are asking those who think they may have been in contact with the bat (or others that fly around) to contact County Public Health Services asks you to call 619-692-8499 as soon as possible, and to note symptoms may take months to appear.

Meanwhile, the zoo verified the bat wasn't one from its collection and is urging visitors to remain alert if any more bats are spotted. Fortunately, the only bat many San Diegans hope to see next week is Batman at Comic-Con.

Mile End Kicks, a heartwarming coming-of-age film being called the romantic comedy of the year, was also named the No. 1 fan-favorite film to watch on Netflix by Collider. It’s easy to see why: romance, rock, and the remarkable Alanis Morissette.

Set in 2011 north of the border, the film follows a 24-year-old music critic named Grace Pine, played by Ferreira, as she moves from Toronto to the Mile End neighborhood of Montreal for a change of scenery that will hopefully help her write a book about Morissette’s iconic 1995 album, Jagged Little Pill.

While there, however, she gets distracted by the indie-rock music scene, especially the social orbit of an up-and-coming band named Bone Patrol.

“Finally, a movie about how life-altering it was to hearJoanna Newsom's ‘Have One on Me’ for the first time,” IndieWire’s film critic, David Ehrlich, wrote on Letterboxd. “So funny and knowing and true, rom-com of the year with a bullet and a killer soundtrack to boot. Wonderful, wonderful film.”

Making its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, Mile End Kicks is now quietly finding an audience on streaming. As of writing this article, the film has an 86% onRotten Tomatoes, earned for its passion and authenticity, courtesy of its writer-director, Chandler Levack, who drew on her own experiences for the narrative.

“I would just constantly walk around the mile at two in the morning listening to [Tops’] ‘Double Vision’ or ‘Outside’ and obsessing over some guy while tears streamed down my face,” Levack told Paste magazine.

According to Paste, the fictional band in Levack’s film was based on several real-life groups, from Tops, of course, to Archers of Loaf, Pavement, Built to Spill, and the Replacements. She cited another former music critic’s tour de force as further inspiration.

“Because of Almost Famous, literally,” Levack said, answering a question about why she got into music criticism. “I saw that movie when I was 15, and I was just so floored by it. It kind of remains the most foundational art I’ve ever seen in my life.”

Fans of music-driven films like Almost Famous, Singles, and High Fidelity will most likely find a similar appeal in Mile End Kicks.

The fast-food chain made it official on social media that they're pulling the Cyclospora-affected produce from Taylor Farms, which has been publicly named as the source of several cases. On Instagram, Taco Bell shared a note-app apology to their dedicated fan base: "We want you to hear it from us," it read. "We take your health and safety very seriously and have removed all affected Taylor farms lettuce from Taco Bell stores. So go ahead and enjoy your Taco Bell today."

Effectively redirecting the part of the blame it was getting with swift, viral in-a-good-way humor and brand responsibility, it continued, "You always got us. We always got you. See you in the drive-thru," and closed with a purple heart emoji.

What's hilarious about the public announcement isn't so much that it subtly shades the source of the aggressive parasitic GI tract invader, but that scores of fans have responded cleverly with their loyalty in the name of bad poops being a risk they were already willing to take. One commented, "Explosive diarrhea didn’t stop me before, it won’t stop me now," while another said, "I don’t take 'in sickness and in health' lightly. Love you (wedding ring, arm flex emoji)."

And of course, it wouldn't be a Taco Bell comments section without calling out items to bring back to the menu, which don't include lettuce. "There’s no parasitic lettuce on an enchirito! Make it a permanent menu item!" shared @Charmcityfoodaventures. We can't help but agree that it would be very cool for Taco Bell to bring back menu items that don't have lettuce during this trying time, but their action speaks to its fanbase, who would risk it all to live mas.

Bad Company’s status goes far beyond being named one of the greatest supergroups of all time; the band also delivered one of classic rock’s most enduring anthems.

Following the success of its 1974 self-titled debut album, the all-star band featuring Paul Rodgers and Simon Kirke from Free, Mick Ralphs from Mott the Hoople and Boz Burrell from King Crimson released its sophomore album, Straight Shooter.

The eight-track album spawned the lead single "Good Lovin' Gone Bad," but it was "Feel Like Makin' Love" that became the album’s biggest commercial success after peaking at No. 10 on the US Billboard Hot 100.

The song also marked Bad Company’s second Top 10 hit on the chart, following "Can't Get Enough," which reached No. 5 and remains the band's highest-charting single on the US Billboard Hot 100.

The massive popularity of "Feel Like Makin' Love" helps explain why VH1 ranked it No. 78 on its list of the Greatest Hard Rock Songs of All Time.

A defining mid '70s track, the supergroup’s classic is celebrated for its acoustic-driven verses and the powerful vocals of Rodgers, whose soulful delivery became one of the band’s trademarks.

Initially written as an acoustic song by 19-year-old Rodgers, "Feel Like Makin' Love" was built around country-inspired melodies and lyrics inspired by a camping trip in California.

“I was staying at this camp in California when I started to come up with the lyrics and music to Feel Like Makin’ Love,” the iconic lead vocalist recalled in an interview as cited by Louder Sound. “It was an amazing place to be. I was about 19 and touring the US with Free, so the song actually stayed on the back burner all the way until the start of Bad Company in 1973. And I did feel like making love at the time. I think I probably was in love – that happened a lot.”

Years later, Ralphs added heavy guitar riffs for the chorus, transforming the song into a dynamic blend of acoustic balladry and hard rock.

“I came up with the riff, and I suggested we put the two together to create a song,” the guitarist told Uncut UK. “I think that’s the feel of the song; the verses are very appealing to the ladies, probably more than the men, and then the riff comes in, which is all bloody macho. It’s a big chorus and it worked out really well."

The late guitarist also described the song as standing apart from many of Bad Company's harder rock tracks.

Brian Johnson has spent nearly five decades fronting AC/DC, but it's only now, at 78, that he says he's actually let himself enjoy the ride.

Speaking with USA Today ahead of the U.S. leg of the band's Power Up Tour, Johnson opened up about a habit he kept up for years without even realizing it: he almost never smiled onstage. "I never used to smile or anything," he admitted, explaining that he felt weighed down for most of his career by the pressure of being in what he once thought of as "a big rock and roll band."

That mindset, Johnson explained, meant holding back the kind of playfulness and spontaneity he now brings to every show. Younger performers, he said, tend to overthink every moment, worried about looking the part rather than simply living in it.

Johnson says that somewhere along the way, the pressure to perform a certain image just stopped mattering to him. He and guitarist Angus Young, 71, now trade grins and glances onstage, feeding off each other's energy in ways Johnson says never used to happen earlier in the band's career. He credits the shift partly to simply not caring as much anymore about how he's perceived, and partly to trusting that after 46 years together, he and his bandmates can read each other well enough to improvise in real time.

Johnson says AC/DC now leans into unpredictability during shows rather than avoiding it, treating those unscripted moments as part of what keeps a decades-old setlist feeling alive rather than routine.

At an age when he once assumed he'd have long since stopped touring, Johnson says he's more present in the moment than ever, and finally letting the fun show on his face instead of hiding behind an old idea of what a rock frontman was supposed to look like.

Hailey Bieber is adding another title to her resume: denim designer.

The model, beauty mogul, and wife of Justin Bieber has teamed up with Gap on "The Hailey Jean," a limited-edition capsule collection inspired by her personal collection of vintage Gap denim and her go-to '90s style. The line launched Thursday, July 16, both online and in select Gap stores, and it didn't take long to sell through.

Bieber has built a reputation as one of fashion's most closely watched trendsetters, thanks to her denim beauty brand Rhode and her frequent Skims campaigns, so a collaboration built around her personal style felt like a natural next step for the brand. It's also not Gap's first high-profile celebrity partnership: the retailer has recently worked with Victoria Beckham and the K-pop group KATSEYE, part of a broader push to pair its classic denim heritage with major entertainment names.

The capsule features two silhouettes: the Extra Baggy Jean and the Low Rise Loose Jean, each priced at $89 and available in three washes: light, medium, and midnight indigo. Bieber worked directly with Gap's design team to rework two vintage pairs from her own closet into modern versions of the brand's iconic fits.

Both styles are cut from rigid, 100% cotton denim designed to soften and mold to the wearer with time, and each includes personal touches: a Hailey signature woven into the pocket lining, plus "1996" hardware and a back patch nodding to the year she was born. The Low Rise Loose Jean, which features a full-length hem, five-pocket styling, and recycled cotton for a more sustainable finish, is available exclusively online.

"1996 has always felt iconic to me because there was something so effortless about that era and the way people wore denim," Bieber said in a statement. "We wanted the campaign and the product to capture that same feeling in a way that felt modern, understated and personal."

The collection has already proven just as popular as expected, with most sizes and washes across both styles sold out within roughly 24 hours of launch. The good news for anyone who missed out: Gap has confirmed a restock is coming to its website Saturday, July 18, at 7 a.m. ET.

While thrillers traditionally are murder mystery stories or heists, stress-inducing films with twists and turns can belong to any genre. For instance, the publication Collider recently spotlighted some of the top thriller films with fantastical elements by releasing a ranking of the "7 greatest fantasy thrillers of all time."

During a 2019 Q&A panel at Landmark Theatres, alongside the film's stars Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe, Robert discussed writing The Lighthouse with Max. He was quick to clarify that he and his brother's dynamic doesn't resemble the volatile relationship between lighthouse keepers, Howard (Pattinson) and Wake (Dafoe), in the movie. He said the most "autobiographical thing" from the film was "sleeping in close quarters with flatulent colleagues" while he "was working in the dregs of the New York indie film world" at the start of his career.

In addition, he said that he and his brother threw themselves into researching "lighthouse keepers in the nineteenth-century." He said it was relatively "easy to research lighthouses because people like lighthouses, so there's tons of books available." In addition, he explained that because "photography had been invented in the 19th century," he and Max found "lots of photographic evidence to recreate the physical material world" for the movie.

Robert clarified that his and Max's research didn't end at lighthouses. As examples, he said that he and Max pulled from Herman Melville's writing, classic mythology, artists like John Darvill, Arnold Böcklin, and Sascha Schneider, as well as "the lighthouse keepers manual that Robert's character mentions," 1881's Instructions to Light-Keepers, for inspiration.

Blake Shelton couldn't let Luke Bryan's50th birthday pass without stirring up a little trouble.

The country star took to his Instagram Stories on Friday, July 17, with message aimed at both Bryan and his longtime manager, Kerri Edwards.

"Just found out Kerri Edwards wanted me to play at Crash My Playa next year but @lukebryan didn't want me there... He also asked Kerri to NOT wish me a happy birthday," the simple text read on Shelton’s Instagram Story.

While Shelton didn't add any context, fans of the pair will likely recognize it as the playful banter the duo has been known for over the years.

Edwards is the founder of KP Entertainment, the Nashville-based management company that has represented Bryan since 2006. She also helps oversee Crash My Playa, Bryan's annual four-day country music getaway in Riviera Cancún, Mexico (which is all-inclusive, we might add). 

Shelton had headlined the festival before, including 2017 when his then-gilfrined (now wife) Gwen Stefanijoined him on stage. The last time Shelton performed at Crash My Playa was in 2018, and it’s unclear why he hasn’t returned.

Shelton and Bryan have spent years poking fun at one another, both onstage and online. Earlier this year, Shelton interrupted a Las Vegas concert after spotting a fan wearing Bryan’s merchandise. "You come to my show wearing Luke Bryan s**t?" he joked before calling Bryan "an idiot" and teasing that the singer asks audiences to sing along because he's "too drunk to remember the words to his own song."

And Bryan isn’t the only pal Shelton has publicly picked on, The country hitmaker celebrated his own 50th birthday in June, and jokingly kept track of which friends forgot to send their well wishes. "I just wanted to say thank you for all the birthday wishes yesterday," he wrote on Instagram Stories before singling out fellow country star Trace Adkins and his wife, Victoria, for allegedly forgetting.

As for Bryan, he’s yet to respond to Shelton’s call out.

30 years after Kathie Lee Gifford’s late husband, Frank Gifford, had a tryst with former flight attendant Suzen Johnson, Kathie Lee is opening up about misconceptions around the infidelity.

“People call it an affair,” Gifford said on the Hang Out with Sean Hannity podcast. “No, an affair is not a tryst at a hotel one time. At all.”

Gifford opened up about what it was like at home at the time. She admitted that they didn’t watch TV, and she and her kids wouldn’t go into a store that sold tabloids.

“Little people do not deserve big people problems,” Gifford said.

Gifford continued, saying that her husband said that the tryst “wasn’t true.” But as soon as she found out that he did cheat on her, she forgave him “because that’s what Jesus says to do.”

“He was always on time,” Gifford recalled. “I’m a maniac about being on time, and so is he, and if he was going to be late, he’d call. And I remember going out on my deck and wondering, you know, and that’s when it hit me. I said, ‘Oh my gosh, it’s true. He’s dealing with the aftermath of that.’”

Although some reported that she left her home before reconciling with Frank, Gifford clarified that this isn’t true, and she never threatened divorce.

“He’s my hero,” Gifford said. “And it took a long, long time for me to gain trust again. But you know what I did? The Bible says, ‘Be anxious for nothing.’”

Gifford and her husband remained together for over two decades, until his passing on Aug. 9, 2015.

“I thought we had a great marriage,” Gifford said. “Great marriage. Great love life. I don’t like to call it a sex life. Sex is different than making love. And we had a great love life.”

More than 30 years after scoring his first country radio hit, Kenny Chesney is still finding new ways to make Billboard history.

This week, the country superstar officially broke one of the biggest records on Billboard's Country Airplay chart, moving ahead of fellow legends George Strait and Tim McGraw for the most top 10 hits in the chart's history.

According to Billboard, Chesney's latest single "Carry On" climbed to No. 9 on the July 25 Country Airplay chart after gaining 18 million audience impressions during the tracking week. The achievement gives Chesney 62 career top 10 hits on the chart, breaking the tie he previously shared with Strait and McGraw, who each have 61.

The milestone comes just two months after Chesney reached another remarkable Billboard achievement. Earlier this year, "Carry On" became his 100th career entry on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart, placing him among the handful of artists to ever reach the century mark.

"Carry On" is also continuing to make history for another reason. The song is the first top 10 Country Airplay hit for Hey Now Records, the Nashville label Chesney joined earlier this year after signing with the company founded by longtime music executives Clint Higham, John Esposito and Kris Lamb.

Billboard noted that Chesney has long been one of country radio's most dominant artists. In addition to now owning the all-time record with 62 Country Airplay top 10s, he also has a chart-leading 33 No. 1 hits on Country Airplay. His songs have spent a combined 1,742 weeks on the chart, trailing only McGraw in total weeks.

The speed of Chesney's latest success is also notable. Billboard reports that "Carry On" reached the top 10 in just its 10th week on the chart. It's the 34th time one of his songs has cracked the top 10 within its first 10 weeks, a testament to the enduring strength of his music at country radio.

For Chesney, who was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2025, the latest record is another reminder that one of country music's longest-running hit streaks is still going strong.

Will Smith has played a genie, an alien hunter, and a legend of Hollywood history but these days, he's finding himself in a much less glamorous role: potential witness. A years-long legal battle involving Will and Jada Pinkett Smith's inner circle just took a turn, and it's proving that in this case, truth really is stranger than fiction.

Bilaal Salaam, also known as Brother Bilaal and once a close friend of Will's, is now seeking to bring the King Richard Oscar winner into his ongoing lawsuit against Jada, requesting he sit for a deposition, according to new court documents obtained by PEOPLE. Salaam may be hoping Will can help him "make it look easy," but Jada's legal team isn't exactly rolling out the red carpet for the request.

The saga traces back to December 2025, when Salaam filed a $3 million complaint against Jada, 54, alleging that she confronted and threatened him in the lobby of the Regency Calabasas Commons back in September 2021. Jada, who's built a career being anything but camera-shy thanks to Girls Trip and Red Table Talk, has denied any wrongdoing and moved to dismiss portions of the lawsuit under California's anti-SLAPP law. That effort already scored her a win in May, when a court ordered Salaam, 56, to pay nearly $33,000 in her legal fees proof that in this legal matrix, she's the one bending the rules in her favor.

Now, with an email sent July 7, Salaam (who is representing himself in the case) is attempting to pull Will, 57, directly into the proceedings by requesting his testimony. Jada's team wasted no time firing back, stating there's "nothing to meet and confer about," since Will "is not a party to this litigation" and hasn't been formally served with a subpoena.

The pushback didn't stop there. In separate filings, Jada's lawyers accused Salaam of submitting "untimely responses" and failing to produce sufficient evidence, prompting a motion to compel. They're demanding he turn over recorded communications tied to the alleged threatening calls, along with medical records related to the emotional distress he claims to have suffered - evidence they say is essential to backing up the $3 million he's after.

With a trial request already denied, the next hearing is set for August 19th. Whether Will ends up testifying or not, one thing's for sure: for the Smiths, this legal drama isn't fading away like it's Men in Black.

Aunt Bettina Trump wrote, “Happy birthday beautiful Arabella!” while commenters gushed, “When did she get so big! I remember all those baby Arabella posts”, “Happy birthday to your Princess,” and “Happy 15th birthday to mom’s precious daughter. May your smile always brighten the world.”

Ivanka Trump On Parenting Arabella

Ivanka opened up about parenting Arabella and her two brothers in 2024 while talking to podcast hostLex Fridman: “I think being a parent, you have to cultivate within yourself, like heightened levels of empathy. You have to really look at each child and see them for who they are, what they enjoy, what they love, and meet them where they’re at.”

She went on to say, “And I think that can be enormously challenging when your kids are so different in temperament. You know, as they get older, that difference in temperament may be within the same child depending on the moment of the day. But I think it really, I think it’s actually made me a much softer person, a much better listener. I think I see people more truly for who they are as opposed to how I want them to be.”

Trump also spoke specifically about the birthday girl, reliving a memorable moment from a Miami rainstorm: “Arabella comes down, it’s around 8:00 at night, it’s really raining. And she’s got rain boots and pajama pants on, and she’s going to take the dogs for a walk in the rain. Which, you know, she had all day to walk them. But she wasn’t doing it because they needed to go for a walk. She was like, this would be fun.”

But the story doesn't stop there. She adds, “And I’m standing at the doorstep watching her, and she goes out with Simba and Winter, this massive dog and this little tiny dog, and I’m watching her walk to the end of the driveway, and she’s just dancing, and it’s just pouring. And I took off my shoes, and I joined her. And we danced in the rain.”
