Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan to Reunite at the Oscars for Rob Reiner Tribute
When Harry Met Sally stars Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan will reunite during the Oscars to pay tribute to the late Rob Reiner.
According to Variety, the segment will include Crystal talking about the late filmmaker and actor during the "In Memoriam" segment, while Ryan will be on stage at the same time along with other stars of Reiner’s films.
The 1989 romantic comedy film, directed by Reiner, follows Harry Burns (Crystal) and Sally Albright (Meg Ryan) over 12 years as they meet, dislike each other, become best friends, and eventually fall in love.
Crystal, a longtime friend of Reiner's, also starred in his films The Princess Bride and This Is Spinal Tap.

Rob and his wife Michele Reiner were found murdered in their home on Dec. 14. Later that night, their 32-year-old son Nick was arrested and charged for the crime.
On Monday, Feb. 23, Nick pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder in a Los Angeles courthouse. It remains unclear whether Nick’s defense team plans to pursue an insanity defense amid reports he was diagnosed with schizophrenia and struggling with drug addiction.
If convicted of first-degree murder, Nick could face life in prison or the death penalty.

Following Rob and Michele’s deaths, the couple's closest friends and collaborators, including Crystal, Larry David, Martin Short and Albert Brooks, released a joint statement.
“Absorbing all he had learned from his father Carl and his mentor Norman Lear, Rob Reiner not only was a great comic actor, he became a master story teller,” the statement read. “There is no other director who has his range. From comedy to drama to ‘mockumentary’ to documentary he was always at the top of his game. He charmed audiences. They trusted him. They lined up to see his films.”
“We were their friends, and we will miss them forever,” the statement continued, before ending with a quote from It’s a Wonderful Life, one of Reiner’s favorite films: “'Each man’s life touches so many other lives, and when he isn’t around, he leaves an awful hole, doesn’t he?’ You have no idea.”
The 98th Academy Awards ceremony, hosted by Conan O'Brien, will take place on Mar. 15, 2026 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. The ceremony will be televised live by ABC and streamed on Hulu from 7 to 10 p.m. ET.
‘Brady Bunch’ House Declared a Historic Landmark
“Marcia! Marcia! Marcia!” Eve Plumb famously exclaimed in a classic scene on The Brady Bunch after being frustrated by the constant attention her older sister, portrayed by Maureen McCormick, was receiving.
Jan Brady might be pleased to note that it’s not Marcia that’s receiving an honor by the Los Angeles City Council, but the San Fernando Valley home that served as the fictional blended family’s abode during the long-running ‘70s series.
The L.A. City Council voted on March 4 to designate the Brady Bunch house as a historic monument, adding the Mid-century home in Studio City to L.A.’s official city history, according to the Los Angeles Times.
“Long before it became a pop‑culture pilgrimage site and backdrop for countless photo ops, the Brady Bunch House helped shape America’s vision of family life in the late 1960s and early ’70s — especially the idea of a blended family,” Adrian Scott Fine, president of the L.A. Conservancy, told the Times. “We’re thrilled to see it now designated as a Historic-Cultural Monument, ensuring the Brady Bunch — and their iconic home — remain part of Los Angeles’ story.”
The official designation comes after the Los Angeles Cultural Heritage Commission voted unanimously on Jan. 15 to recommend the home as a landmark. The Planning and Land Use Commission seconded the designation in February, paving the way for the L.A. City Council to approve the measure.
The home, located at 11222 Dilling St. in Studio City, served as the exterior for the Brady family home during the series run from 1969 through 1974. Years later it made an encore of sorts when it became the centerpiece for a reality TV show.

Back in 1973, Violet and George McCallister bought the home for $61,000, per the L.A. Times. After they passed away, their heirs sold the home for $3.5 million after a bidding war developed over the property.
Cable channel HGTV emerged as the new owner and announced plans to recreate the show’s famed interior of the home inside the Studio City property with a $1.9 million remodel that was documented in the four-part miniseries A Very Brady Renovation.
The series featured the Brady kid actors all grown up demoing the interior of the home with Drew and Jonathan Scott of the Property Brothers recreating the TV show’s interior set inside the Studio City property.
In 2023, HGTV sold the home at a loss for $3.2 million to home historian Tina Trahan and her husband, former HBO chief executive Chris Elbrecht.
Fans continue to visit the exterior of the home for photo opportunities and starting in November, the new owners began offering tours inside the home for $275, the Times reports.

Whitney Houston's Co-Star Recalls Toddler Bobbi Kristina on 'Waiting to Exhale' Set
When Whitney Houston got the role of Savannah in 1996's Waiting to Exhale, she was still pretty new to the world of acting. Sure, she'd appeared briefly in a few TV shows and many music videos, but for the most part, she was playing herself. However, her role in The Bodyguard alongside Kevin Costner in 1992 showed that the singer was a natural. Waiting to Exhale solidified that notion.
Today would've been her late daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown's 33rd birthday. Houston's co-star, Loretta Devine, recalled meeting a toddler Bobbi Kristina on the set of Waiting to Exhale. "Whitney's baby was on her leg all the time because she was so tiny," Devine told PEOPLE.
Around the same time Houston was filming the movie, she gave an interview to CNN, in which she discussed motherhood. It was apparent how much she adored her daughter.
"Everything that I do, everything that I think, everything that I say, Bobbi Kristina is on my mind when I do it," she explained. She also recalled the wisdom her mother had shared with her growing up, which she wished to pass on to Bobbi Kristina.
"My mother used to always tell me, 'Above all else to thine ownself be true,'" she said. "And that's kind of like what I want to teach Bobbi Kris. Be true to herself. You can fool people, you can fool anybody, anytime of the day, but you can't fool yourself."
Sadly, just three years after Houston died from an accidental drowning, due in part to heart disease and cocaine use, Bobbi Kristina died at age 22. Like her mother, she was discovered unresponsive in a bathtub, with her cause of death determined to be caused by lobar pneumonia. She also had many drugs in her system, such as morphine, benzoylecgonine, benzodiazepines, marijuana, and alcohol.
On Whitney Houston's Instagram fan page, a photo of the mother and daughter is featured, along with words of remembrance.
View this post on InstagramWhile Bobbi Kristina's father, Bobby Brown, hasn't written anything yet this year commemorating his daughter's birthday, his posts from years past are incredibly emotional and heartwarming.
"Remembering my daughter Bobbi Kristina on her birthday," Brown wrote in 2025 alongside photos of his daughter. "Her smile could brighten the darkest days. Her laughter was contagious as well as her unique ability to connect with people and animals, bringing a sense of warmth and kindness wherever she went."
"Today we celebrate the beautiful moments we shared with her and continue to honor her legacy by living our lives with the same joy and love that she embodied," he continued. "Happy Heavenly Birthday My Beautiful Krissy!"
View this post on InstagramTrader Joe's $5 Freezer Find Is Shockingly Similar to a McDonald's Breakfast Staple
The beauty of breakfast lies in its ability to be enjoyed at any point in the day. Whether you're preparing a hearty sit-down meal or whipping up a quick grab-and-go option, there are plenty of ways to satisfy most breakfast cravings.
Recently, I decided to try Trader Joe'sEnglish Muffin Breakfast Sandwich, a $5 freezer find that bears a striking resemblance to a McDonald's menu favorite. With two sandwiches totaling 10.5 ounces of classic breakfast flavors in each box, I couldn't help but wonder if it might replace my dirty habit of ordering fast food for breakfast. Follow along to find out.
English Muffin Breakfast Sandwich, $4.99 at Trader Joe'sNathan Hutsenpiller
Seemingly taking cues from McDonald's Sausage and Egg McMuffin, Trader Joe's English Muffin Breakfast Sandwich wastes no time grabbing your attention with its vintage-looking yellow box and depiction of two juicy, cheesy egg sandwiches on the front. With two individually wrapped breakfast sandwiches inside, scoring each for roughly $2.50 isn't a bad deal, especially when a sandwich at McDonald's easily runs you over $4.
Trader Joe's prepares each sandwich with a tender, crisp exterior and a fluffy English muffin interior, layered with a hearty pork sausage patty, scrambled eggs, and melty cheddar cheese. While frozen, the sandwiches already look plump and hearty, and after heating, they retain their size beautifully, accompanied by the tempting aromas of savory breakfast flavors. With 18 grams of protein packed into each one, this $5 find is not only a quick breakfast you can rely on, but it also gives you the energy you need to start your day strong.
Morning Routine Made SimpleNathan Hutsenpiller
Designed to be heated from frozen in the air fryer or microwave, it's the simplicity of their preparation and the bold results that elevated this breakfast duo into must-try territory for me. For a quick microwave heat, remove a sandwich from its wrapper, wrap it in a paper towel and place it on a microwave-safe plate. Using 30 percent power, heat for one minute and 30 seconds, then switch to full power for an additional minute, or until heated through.
For a crispier, fast–food–style result, I'd go with the air fryer. Remove the wrapper and split the sandwich into two halves—one side with the English muffin and sausage patty, the other with the English muffin, egg and cheese—then place each half in the air fryer basket, muffin side touching the basket. Heat for five to six minutes at 375°F, then reassemble the sandwich and continue heating for an additional one to two minutes, or until heated through. Let it rest for about a minute, then dig in while it's still hot.

Final ThoughtsNathan Hutsenpiller
As an avid fan of McDonald's—no, I'm not embarrassed to admit it—it's hard to compete with your favorite fast food items. The sausage and egg McMuffin already holds a special place in my heart, but I'd be lying if I said it doesn't throw a little chaos into my already elusive dieting routine. And while I'm not a breakfast-every-morning type of person, I do enjoy breakfast no matter what time of day, which is where this Trader Joe's find really comes in handy.
On those days when I need a quick dose of protein to kickstart my day, these frozen sandwiches are hard to beat. They heat up in minutes, come packed with exceptional flavor and feature the familiar textures and taste you'd expect from an English muffin breakfast sandwich. The muffin is airy and crispy, the egg is fluffy, the cheese is melty and generous, and the pork sausage has a light spice that really hits the spot.
If you're looking for quick breakfast bites that don't break the bank and still deliver on flavor, I definitely recommend giving this savory Trader Joe's find a try. While you're at it, why not round out your meals with Trader Joe's sweet-and-sticky Morning Buns and Lemony Chicken Orzo Soup for more must-try, satisfying flavors.

Tim McGraw Makes Brutally Honest Confession About Late Father Tug McGraw
Country music sensation Tim McGraw has opened up about why he could never hate his late father, Tug McGraw, despite their turbulent relationship.
In a new interview, Tim got candid about how his father helped him, all because things were rocky between them.
“When people ask, ‘How could you have anything to do with your dad? How could you not have hated him? How could you have just not turned your back on him?’ My answer is always, ‘He gave me something so precious, and that was hope,’” McGraw said on The Tim Ferriss Podcast.
The “My Best Friend” singer went on to add, “Whether he meant to, and he didn’t or knew it, he gave me a reason to think that I can get out of the situation that I was in. That if he can do that, then I have it in me to do something. And so for that reason alone, I couldn’t hate him. If everything else is gone, if you got hope, you still got a chance.”
Tim grew up believing that his mother Betty’s husband Horace Smith was his father. When he was 11 years old, Tim discovered his birth certificate and learned professional baseball player Tug was his biological dad.

It got worse from there because Tim got to meet Tug at one of his games, only to have the latter deny he fathered the country singer. This began years of an estranged relationship until Tim was an adult and they were able to form a close bond before Tug died in 2004.
The legendary singer also revealed that the point where things changed between him and Tug was when Tim needed money for college. They had a candid conversation that ultimately led to a shift in their relationship, though it took time.
Tim has spent the last over 20 years remembering and honoring his father, especially through song. The country crooner dedicated “Live Like You Were Dying” at the Field of Dreams concert in Iowa last summer to Tug.

16 Years Ago, 'One of the Best Shows Ever' Premiered on NBC and 'Changed' Everything
Every once in a while, a show comes around that's so powerful and groundbreaking, you can't remember what it was like before you welcomed it into your life.
Sixteen years ago, that's exactly what happened to audiences when NBC introduced the Braverman family.
Television was never quite the same after the pilot episode of Parenthood, which premiered on March 2, 2010.
Few could have predicted the cultural impact that the series, loosely based on the 1989 Ron Howard theatrical film of the same name, would have on the everyday viewer.
Audiences were drawn by the show's raw honesty, a rarity for primetime television at the time. While every drama was leaning into high-stakes plot twists and cliffhangers to captivate audiences, Parenthood followed four siblings as they navigated parenthood in their California hometown. It was the show's willingness to portray family life as an unglamorous reality that found the heart and drama in the mundane, yet relatable, moments like a parent-teacher conference or a sibling argument.
The cast had everything to do with it, too, pulling in audiences even further as an ensemble group that felt less like actors and more like friends you've known your whole life. The warmth and authenticity were brought by CraigT. Nelson, Bonnie Bedelia, Lauren Graham, Peter Krause, MonicaPotter, Dax Shepard, Sam Jaeger, Ray Romano, Mae Whitman and more, with one fan calling them "one of the best ensemble casts ever to grace network television drama."
Easily watched by all ages, the drama made you laugh and sob, sometimes all in the same hour, leaving you convinced that a call to your own family was a good idea.
It wasn't long before critics and fans both recognized that the series was something special, a breath of fresh air that wasn't afraid to tackle the storylines that mattered or felt too deep, like the portrayal of autism that was praised for being one of the most accurate and compassionate on mainstream television
It didn't just feel like a TV show; it felt like real-life playing out in front of you. Which is why, throughout its five-year run, it nabbed 40 nominations total, including 16 wins.
NBC took a moment this month to celebrate the series, which paved the way for others just like it to deliver that same raw dose of realness, most notably, NBC's other hit series that filled the void six years later, This Is Us.
"On this day in 2010, we were reintroduced to the Braverman clan. 🥹 Parenthood brought the chaotic, real, and rewarding reality of raising a family to your screens every week. #NBC100," the Instagram post read.
View this post on InstagramFans immediately took to the comment section to shower the drama and its accomplishments with praise.
"Parenthood changed me. I ❤️ that show!" one wrote, as another expressed, "I absolutely loved this show. We deserved more of it."
Naturally, there were calls for more episodes, with one exclaiming, "Best ever. I demand a reboot," and another adding, "We absolutely need a reboot! 🙌❤️."
The "Greatest show of all time" and "One of the best shows ever!" comments kept going
"Definitely in my top 10 favorite shows ever!! Love it," another stated, with many more calls to "bring it back."
Erika Christensen, who played Julia Braverman-Graham, even chimed in feeling nostalgic, declaring, "What a time it was 🥹."
If you want to catch up or relive the magic, Parenthood's six seasons can be streamed on Prime Video with a subscription.
Stefon Diggs Released By Patriots Amid Legal Troubles
It looks like Stefon Diggs’ run in New England is ending far sooner than many expected.
The Patriots have informed the 32-year-old wide receiver that he will be released once the new league year begins next week, closing the book on what was, statistically, a strong season on the field. Diggs surpassed the 1,000-yard mark in 2025, finishing with 85 catches and four touchdowns as New England surged back into championship contention.
NFL reporter Tom Pelissero revealed the news on X on Wednesday, March 4. “The Patriots informed four-time Pro Bowl WR Stefon Diggs they’re releasing him after the start of the league year next week, per sources,” he wrote.
But the decision arrives at a complicated moment for the athlete.
In February, Diggs appeared in court and entered a not guilty plea to assault-related charges connected to an alleged December incident involving his personal chef. According to a police report, the woman claimed an argument over compensation escalated physically. She later told authorities she felt as though she had difficulty breathing during the confrontation.

Diggs has maintained his innocence. Following the hearing, attorney Mitchell Schuster stated, “He is completely innocent of these false allegations that have been alleged against him. We’re confident that after the facts and evidence reviewed in this case, he will be completely exonerated.” A pretrial hearing is set for April 1.
While the legal process unfolds, his personal life has also taken a hit. During a recent tour stop, his ex-girlfriend Cardi B addressed their strained relationship from the stage, telling the audience, “Just because I ain’t f**king with my baby daddy doesn’t mean you get to talk about my baby daddy.” The two welcomed a son together last November.
A screenshot of Stefon Diggs' Instagram Story on March 4, 2026.Despite the turbulence, Diggs kept his public reaction brief after learning of the Patriots’ decision. In a message shared to Instagram, he wrote, “THANK YOU for a hell of a year. We family forever.” He followed up with another story post, writing: “until we meet again…8.”
At this time Diggs has not responded to Parade's request for comment.
CDC Issues Travel Advisory for 32 Countries, Including 5 in Europe, Over Spread of Polio
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has issued a travel alert warning Americans to take precautions against polio, which is currently spreading in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
The agency issued a level 2 alert, cautioning travelers to "practice enhanced precautions” before visiting 32 countries.
The CDC recommends being up to date on your polio vaccine before any international travel, and urges anyone traveling to the locations on the list to receive a single, lifetime booster dose of the vaccine.
Adult travelers are eligible for the booster dose if they're going to a destination that has circulating poliovirus, have completed their routine polio vaccine series, and have not already received one adult booster dose.
The countries on the advisory include popular European travel destinations like the United Kingdom, Spain, Finland, Germany, and Poland.

According to the Mayo Clinic, polio is an "illness caused by a virus that mainly affects nerves in the spinal cord or brain stem. In its most severe form, polio can lead to a person being unable to move certain limbs, also called paralysis. It can also lead to trouble breathing and sometimes death."
The CDC notes that most people infected with polio do not feel sick, or experience minor symptoms such as fever, tiredness, nausea, headache, nasal congestion, sore throat, cough, stiffness in the neck and back, and pain in the arms and legs.
The virus that causes polio lives in the feces of an infected person, meaning people infected with the disease can spread it to others by not washing their hands well after using the bathroom.
The full list of countries where polio is spreading goes as follows: Afghanistan, Algeria, Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Côte d'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Finland, Gaza, Germany, Ghana, Guinea, Israel, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Poland, Senegal, Somalia, South Sudan, Spain, Sudan, Tanzania, United Kingdom, Yemen, and Zimbabwe.
1973 Classic Was a No. 1 Hit 53 Years Ago Today
In 1973, Tammy Wynette added another milestone to her remarkable run of country hits.
Her single, "'Til I Get It Right," climbed to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart, continuing the singer's streak as one of the most dominant voices in country music during the late 1960s and early 1970s.
Released in December 1972 as the lead single from her album 'Til I Get It Right, the song resonated with listeners thanks to its deeply emotional message about resilience and the willingness to keep trying in love despite heartbreak. Written by songwriter Red Lane and Larry Henley, the track showcased Wynette's ability to transform vulnerability into powerful storytelling, which over time became a hallmark of her signature style.
By the early '70s, Wynette had already established herself as one of country music's most influential performers. Hits like "Stand by Your Man," "D-I-V-O-R-C-E," and "I Don't Wanna Play House" had helped define the genre's sound and themes, often focusing on complicated relationships and emotional honesty.
"'Til I Get It Right" fit perfectly within that tradition. With its sweeping arrangement and heartfelt delivery, the song captured the determination to keep searching for lasting love, a sentiment that connected with fans across the country. The single ultimately became Wynette’s 13th No. 1 hit on the country charts.
Despite her meteoric success, Wynette always considered herself an "average woman." In a resurfaced interview, the country star said, "I just have a different job, that's all. I feel when I'm on stage singing I have been what so many of the women in that audience are. I've worked in shoe factories, I've been a waitress, I've been a barmaid, I worked in garment factories. I have done so many things. I worked in the fields picking cotton, bailing hay, pulling corn. And I feel that I can relate to the everyday things, the crises that they go through, the everyday changes and the happenings in their life that happened to them. I know because I've been there, so I don't feel any different from them"
More than half a century after its release, "'Til I Get It Right" remains a shining example of Wynette's timeless appeal and proof that songs about heartbreak and perseverance never truly go out of style.
Wynette's career would go on to span decades, earning her numerous awards and recognition as one of country music's most important voices. Often referred to as the "First Lady of Country Music," she helped shape the modern country ballad and paved the way for generations of female artists.

Holtz was born January 6, 1937, in Follansbee, West Virginia, and became one of the sport’s most influential figures. Holtz also briefly coached in the NFL, spending the 1976 season as head coach of the New York Jets before returning to the college ranks. After retiring from coaching in 2004 following a successful stint at South Carolina, he later became a prominent college football analyst on ESPN.
He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2008 in recognition of his lasting impact on the sport.
Holtz was married to his wife Beth for more than 50 years before her death in 2020.
“Holtz is remembered for his enduring values of faith, family, service, and an unwavering belief in the potential of others,” his family said in the statement. “His influence extended far beyond the football field through the Holtz Charitable Foundation and the many players, colleagues, and communities shaped by his leadership.”

Dollar General Is Selling the Loveliest Dolly Parton Storage Jars That Will Pretty Up Your Pantry
When you think of Dolly Parton, a whole sparkle-filled list probably pops into your head. Legendary music career, sky-high hair, rhinestones for days, and, of course, Dollywood. But homewares? That might not be the first thing you associate with her. This is your sign to reconsider that.
Because if you didn't already know, the queen of glam country charm has built a home decor lineup that is every bit as delightful as you'd hope. Think soft florals, vintage-inspired details, sweet Southern touches, and just enough shimmer to make things feel special without going over the top. It's feminine without being fussy and so-very-Dolly in the best way.
Dolly Parton Spring Clamp Jar - 47 ounces, $6 at Dollar General Dolly Parton Spring Clamp Jar at Dollar GeneralDollar General
Just look at this pretty Spring Clamp Lid Jar from Dolly, available at Dollar General for only $6. It features the music icon's embossed autograph, plus her signature butterfly motif. And it will look so pretty in your pantry or fridge (heck, even use it as a vase for a couple of stems).
It holds a max of 47 ounces, which means you can theoretically use it to store a one-pound box of dry pasta (depending on the shape) or nearly a full two-pound bag of rice if you're looking for pantry storage. Because here's the thing, that spring clamp helps to provide an airtight closure that keeps the jar's contents super fresh.
Personally, I would use the vessel for orange juice or peach puree to make either brunch-time mimosas and bellinis. Parton also happens to make a fabulous Prosecco to go with that.

Can You Use the Jar Anywhere Else Other Than the Kitchen?Of course! While the Dolly Parton Spring Clamp Jar makes for pretty pantry organization, it would look just as gorgeous sitting on your vanity filled with bath salts or even liquid bubble bath.
In a living room you could fill it to the top with candies like M&Ms, making for a perfectly sweet pourable moment. Here it basically becomes a piece of decor on a console table with a farmhouse aesthetic. Just like Dolly herself, it's versatility knows no bounds. All you need is a couple of these jars and your imagination—the possibilities are endless.

Target Shoppers Say This Ultra Plush Mattress Pad Feels Like Sleeping on a 5-Star Hotel Bed
Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.
When it comes to enhancing your sleep space, the difference often lies in layers and textures. Thoughtful design isn't just about aesthetics—it's about how materials work together to create an inviting, restful environment. From breathable woven fabrics to lofted fillings that cradle the body, the right combination of elements can transform an ordinary mattress into a sleep-friendly haven. Designers now prioritize not only how bedding looks but how it feels, focusing on layers that provide softness, support, and movement without compression or heat build-up.
Texture plays a crucial role in the tactile experience of your bed. Quilting patterns, stretch-knit skirts, and lofty fill all contribute to how bedding responds to motion, how it drapes, and how it retains its shape night after night. By blending natural fibers like cotton with performance-driven synthetic alternatives, modern bedding solutions strike a balance between cloudlike comfort and everyday durability. The goal is simple: create a layer that enhances airflow, cushions pressure points, and maintains structure through consistent use.
Casaluna Ultra Loft Down Alternative Mattress Pad, $55 at TargetTarget
That philosophy comes to life in the Casaluna Ultra Loft Down Alternative Mattress Pad, available at Target for $55. Designed with a plush, box-quilted construction, this layer helps distribute fill evenly, keeping comfort consistent across the bed's surface. The 100 percent cotton top offers breathable softness, while the down-alternative fill creates a lofty, hotel-inspired feel without using traditional feathers. A four-way stretch skirt is engineered to fit mattresses up to 20 inches deep, helping the pad stay securely in place without shifting or bunching.

The materials are OEKO-TEX certified, meaning they've been tested for harmful substances, and the entire piece is machine washable—a major advantage for households that prioritize low-maintenance care. With a 280-thread-count cotton surface and durable stitching, it aims to balance plushness with longevity.
From a value perspective, mattress pads often sit at the intersection of budget and luxury. Entry-level options can provide basic protection, but they may flatten quickly or lack breathability. Higher-end bedding layers promise premium fill and elevated craftsmanship, sometimes at a steep price. Many shoppers find that thoughtfully engineered mid-range options deliver the best of both worlds: elevated softness, secure fit, and long-term durability without luxury-level pricing.
Ultimately, upgrading your bed doesn't require replacing your mattress. Strategic layering can refresh comfort, extend mattress life, and create a more inviting sleep setup—all without overspending.

‘Scarpetta’ Author Addresses Nicole Kidman Show’s Changes From Books: ‘Better Than What I Did’
As fans count down to the premiere of Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis’ new show, Scarpetta, author Patricia Cornwell is giving her stamp of approval on the TV adaptation of her bestselling book series.
Cornwell, 69, published her debut novel, Postmortem, about medical examiner Kay Scarpetta in 1990, kicking off a series that has spanned 29 books. Now, 36 years later, Kidman, 58, is the lead of the Prime Video show based on the thrillers.
In an interview with People published on Wednesday, March 4, Cornwell acknowledged that the show veers from what’s written in her books. While she initially found the changes surprising, she now believes the alterations made for the TV series are “better than what I did” in the novels.
For instance, Cornwell noted that her favorite scene in season 1 is the conclusion, which is entirely different in her book.
“The ending will blow your socks off,” she insisted. “That was a big moment. And I think other people are going to find it a big moment too.”
Cornwell applauded the show’s creators for adapting her book in such a satisfactory way.
“What [the creators have] done is so good,” she said. “And the fans will get the bones and the DNA of my usual stories, but they’re going to get a whole lot more.”
Scarpetta is the first adaptation of Cornwell’s books to make it to the screen despite past options on her novels.
“There are no words, actually, to describe how unbelievable this is to me,” she gushed. “I mean, this is beyond my wildest dreams.”
Kidman portrays chief medical examiner Dr. Kay Scarpetta on the show, while Curtis, 67, plays her sister, Dorothy. As Kay works to solve a series of murders reminiscent of the case that launched her career, her strained relationship with Dorothy complicates her personal life.
As producers of the streaming series, Kidman and Curtis were both involved in the development of their characters off screen.
“Jamie had a lot of ideas about how she wanted to look and what she wanted to wear and her hair. Nicole too. Suddenly she was speaking with a deeper voice,” showrunner Liz Sarnoff told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview published on Wednesday. “Everybody sort of morphed into their characters and really built them up with us [writers].”
The actresses also influenced the tone of the show, leaning into the story’s darker themes.
“[Jamie and Nicole] really like things that are scary, and they were like, ‘We’re very dedicated to the show staying scary,’” Sarnoff added. “They really wanted it to be a mystery but also one that was terrifying and beautiful.”
Scarpetta—which also stars Ariana DeBose, Bobby Cannavale and Simon Baker—has already been renewed for season 2.
Scarpetta premieres on Prime Video Wednesday, March 11.
Cardiologists Say This Popular Cooking Method May Be Worse for Your Arteries Than Butter
It's mostly common knowledge that diet plays a role in heart health. If your doctor or news articles haven't convinced you, labels on food boxes swearing the item is "heart-healthy" have probably clued you in. However, it's not just what we eat that matters for our cardiovascular health, but how it's prepared.
"Depending on whether your food is steamed, boiled, fried or grilled, there can be big differences in the calorie count, nutrient retention or loss and formation of harmful chemicals in a dish," Dr.Cheng-Han Chen, MD, a board-certified interventional cardiologist and medical director of the Structural Heart Program at MemorialCare Saddleback Medical Center, tells Parade.
The harms of certain cooking methods can take a particular toll on our arteries.
"Arteries are blood vessels that act as the body's highways, carrying oxygen-rich blood from the heart to all your tissues and organs," says Dr. Craig Basman, MD, a cardiologist and the associate director of the Structural and Congenital Heart Program at Hackensack Meridian Hackensack University Medical Center. "Over time, substances like cholesterol, fat and calcium can build up in the arteries, forming a sticky substance called plaque."
Dr. Basman explains that this process is known as atherosclerosis. It causes the arteries to harden and narrow, restricting blood flow. "Plaque can also rupture and trigger blood clots that completely prevent downstream blood flow," he says. "When this happens in the blood vessels supplying the heart, the result is a heart attack. When this occurs in the blood vessels supplying the brain, it causes a stroke."
Yes, these cooking methods can make food taste good. However, a trio of cardiologists is warning that it's best to keep some food prep strategies to a minimum, especially one. They shared the popular cooking method that may be worse for the arteries than butter.

The Popular Cooking Method That's Bad for Arteries, Cardiologists WarnNazar Abbas Photography/Getty Images
"Consistently deep-frying food leads to the production of oxidized LDL particles, which in turn cause plaque buildup over time," warns Dr. Karishma Patwa, MD, a cardiologist with Manhattan Cardiology in NYC and a labfinder.com contributor.
"Consistent consumption of deep-fried foods can be detrimental to your arteries," Dr. Basman adds. "You can have a nutrient-rich food like fish or lean chicken, but if you deep-fry it, you are altering its nutritional profile considerably."
Data from a 2021 study in Heart indicated that regularly eating fried foods could increase the relative risk for coronary heart disease by more than 20%, heart failure by 37% and stroke by 37%. Those numbers may not taste as good as deep-fried foods.
A cardiology dietitian explains that the issues with deep-fried foods stem from the process. "When oils, especially those high in polyunsaturated fats like soybean or corn oil, are heated repeatedly to deep‑frying temperatures, they begin to break down," explains Michelle Routhenstein, MS, RD, CDCES, CDN, a cardiology dietitian at EntirelyNourished.com. "The structure of their fats can rearrange, increasing the formation of trans fatty acids and other harmful oxidation products."
The American Heart Association advises people to limit saturated fat consumption to no more than 6% of the daily calories. To be clear, though, no one is saying "go ham with butter."
"Butter is high in saturated fats and should be used in moderation," Dr. Patwa shares.
However, if you eat more deep-fried foods than butter, it's a bigger pain point for the arteries. Still, like butter, deep-fried foods are not completely off the table, even if you are trying to consume a heart-healthy diet.
"Everything is OK in moderation," Dr. Patwa stresses. "Try to focus on a heart-healthy diet, but it is OK to indulge once in a while to feel like you’re not restricting yourself."

What Deep-Frying Food Does to the ArteriesDr. Basman warns that deep-fried foods are often loaded with saturated and trans fats, which can raise LDL ("bad") cholesterol levels.
"This excess LDL cholesterol promotes the buildup of plaque in the arteries, accelerating the process of atherosclerosis or 'clogged arteries,'" he states. "This narrowing of the arteries makes it harder for blood to flow to reach the vital organs, including the brain and heart."
Dr. Chen adds that deep-frying foods involves replacing water with oil, which makes them more calorie-dense. While calories are necessary for energy, too many can trigger issues like obesity, which can contribute to heart health issues.
"Deep-frying frequently also involves large amounts of sodium, further worsening its impact on your health," he says.
We often associate high sodium intake with high blood pressure. That's true. However, the CDC points out that high blood pressure can make the arteries less elastic, decrease blood flow and oxygen to the heart and trigger further cardiovascular issues.

3 More Diet Tips To Improve Your Artery HealthYour food doesn't have to be bland if you're trying to keep your arteries and heart healthy. While deep frying isn't recommended, other cooking methods and diet ideas can keep your heart and taste buds. Satisfied. Here's what the experts we spoke with recommend.
1. Learn about foodsLearning isn't just for school children. In fact, cardiologists say that your heart benefits when you use your brain.
"The first step for people looking to start a heart-healthy diet is to better understand the composition of the foods they eat," Dr. Chen states. "It is important to identify whether foods are high in saturated fat, sugar or sodium. You want to focus on healthier categories such as lean protein, whole grains, nuts, fruits and vegetables."
2. Experiment with other fun cooking methodsDeep-frying foods isn't the only way to make them taste delicious. Routhenstein says heart-healthy ways to whip up a meal include:
- Air frying. Routhenstein shares that air frying circulates hot air, making foods crispy with limited or no added oil. As a result, you eat less fat and fewer calories. You'll also avoid harmful compounds that can develop when you repeatedly heat fry oils.
- Sautéing on low to medium heat. Routhenstein explains that this method only requires a small amount of oil plus gentle heat. It reduces the formation of oxidized and trans fats.
- Baking. Routhenstein likes that baking gives you control of the temperature and amount of oil used. Your creation will taste flavorful and crispy without the need for hot fat.
As a cardiology dietitian, Routhenstein has seen firsthand how overwhelming people can feel when they realize they have plaque buildup in their arteries or other heart health issues and need to adopt a different diet. She suggests taking a slow and steady approach rather than overhauling your entire usual menu in an hour.
"Look for simple swaps to make meals healthier," she urges.
She says a simple swap might be deep-fried fries for baked potatoes or roasted vegetables. You can also choose grilled chicken instead of fried. It may seem like nothing, but it's definitely something...sustainable.
"Small changes like these make it easier to build a heart-healthy, nutrient-rich diet without feeling deprived," Routhenstein notes.

Savannah Guthrie's Mom Nancy Update: Ring CEO Faces Backlash After Bold Claim
Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie‘s mom, Nancy Guthrie, remains missing more than a month later—and Ring CEO Jamie Siminoff recently faced backlash for his bold claim.
During an interview with Fortune published on March 3, Siminoff, the founder and CEO of the Ring doorbell camera brand, weighed in on the 84-year-old's case after the investigation entered its second month.
“I do believe if they had more of it, if there was more cameras on the house, I think we might, you know, have solved," he shared.
Siminoff added, “The video that they have appears to be the best evidence they have of what happened.”
On Feb. 10, investigators released photos and video clips from Nancy's Nest doorbell camera showing a masked suspect.
“The Nancy Guthrie thing has shown just how important video and more video would be in a case like this,” Siminoff explained. “I think it’s been clear, but I think this is just another example of, like, how important it is to have video at your house.”

On Reddit, users reacted to the Ring CEO's remarks, with many criticizing his take on the doorbell camera situation.
"'If only we had universal mass surveillance,'" one Redditor snarked.
To that, another pointed out, "Basically admitting that a universal privately owned panopticon makes you even more under the thumb of government/ Why get a warrant when you could just buy the information from Ring?"
Someone else commented, "He’s trying to sell his products giving a statement as such. Gross."
A different follower shared, "There are camera systems including doorbells that are on NVR systems. You and only you can view YOUR video. Includes no subscription fee. Ring and services like it are expensive and intrusive. Keep it simple. Keep it safe for your family. F these companies that all want to have you pay them monthly especially to create a product (your data) for their benefit."
Meanwhile, yet another Redditor wrote, "The CEO of a monitoring company is hoping more people BUY a monitoring product. Why are we surprised by this?"

What Travel Expenses Are Expected to Increase Due to War in Iran
The erupting conflict in Iran is enough to make anyone a little nervous about what the future may hold. And while it's easy for those of us located in the relative safety of the U.S. to watch in horror from a distance, it's impossible for anyone to say that what is going on in the Middle East will have no impact on the average American.
That's because a prolonged fight will lead to increased costs in several areas of our day-to-day lives. With Spring Break and summer travel season right around the corner, it's hard to think about those increased costs without wondering what it will mean for those who had hoped to get away in the next few months. According to experts, there are some things that will absolutely get more expensive, but not all travel expenses will see a price hike as a result of the war.
Gas Prices Will Continue to RiseIf you're anything like me, you were likely completely unsurprised when gas prices immediately reflected the conflict in the Middle East. According to Yahoo Finance, prices had jumped by 10 cents a gallon in the first 24 hours of the week, which indicated a predictor of what was to come.
“This is something that’s going to start impacting gas prices starting today,” GasBuddy's Patrick De Haan told Yahoo FinanceMonday. “The national average will start to tick higher. We could see gas prices by around lunch or even in the evening start to go up as gas stations are probably getting alerts themselves of a big jump in the price that they pay.”
While that initial jump was to be expected, the impact it will have in the long run is what many people are worried about, since continued fighting in the Middle East will only push prices higher. Combine that with the fact that we were already heading towards a seasonal gas price spike—gas gets more costly during times when more people are hitting the roads, like Spring Break and summer—and we could be looking at prices that make those summer road trips absolutely unaffordable for most Americans.

Plane Tickets May Drop or Remain the SameAir travel, on the other hand, may be spared the initial sticker shock despite needing expensive jet fuel to power passengers around the country. That's because Axios says that many airlines will be able to avoid that initial sticker shock since many companies lock into fuel prices for a predetermined amount of time. For example, Singapore Airlines agreed to a five year contract with its supplier to help avoid pricing volatility.
Another thing possibly keeping airfare from spiking thanks to the war: Demand. With an ongoing conflict that could end up involving more and more regions, travel to certain international destinations could become less desirable. Between places with travel advisories, to people not wanting to fly to destinations that require them to get too close to closed airspaces, some airlines may offer discounted tickets to get people back into the skies again.
Related: Travel Chaos Continues as Airspace in the Middle East Remains Closed
Access to Travel Essentials Could DwindleDepending on how long the conflict lasts, manufactures that make essential travel components could have to hike their prices. That's because the crude oil that is exported from the Middle East is used in the manufacturing process of so many unexpected items, including the tires on your car.
Some other things crude oil is used to make include:
- Asphalt
- Plastics
- Electricity
- Certain heating systems
The cost of the human lives lost will be incalculable, but these numbers from the pros highlight just how broadly this battle will pay out for everyone if it continues to wage on, even those living—and traveling—in destinations far away.
