Music Icon Paul Simon Brings the Crowd To Tears as They All Join in on Singing: ‘What a Masterpiece’
Paul Simon may be 84, but the legendary music star still knows how to bring the house down. However, he also knows how to bring them to tears.
Simon, who came to prominence with Art Garfunkel as the iconic duo Simon & Garfunkel, went down in music history with tunes like "The Sound of Silence," "Mrs. Robinson," and "America." While Simon also had a successful solo career that spans decades and continues on despite recent health issues, the rocker pulled from his Simon & Garfunkel archive for a performance at the 10th Annual LOVE ROCKS NYC Benefit Concert for God’s Love We Deliver at the Beacon Theatre on Thursday evening.
Performing the duo's 1969 hit "The Boxer," which Simon wrote, the music legend brought members of the crowd to tears. But the most touching moment of the scene, which was captured on social media, was the way the audience joined in on the memorable refrain of "lie-la-lie" as Simon continued to strum onstage.
View this post on Instagram Paul Simon Has Triumphed After Health IssuesLast summer, the legendary singer was forced to cancel two shows on his A Quiet Celebration Tour in Philadelphia due to “unmanageable” back pain, he shared on his Instagram page. He also noted that he would undergo a “minor surgical procedure.”
“Regretfully, Paul must cancel two shows tonight, June 28, and tomorrow night, June 29, at Philadelphia’s Academy of Music,” the statement read. “Paul has been struggling with chronic and intense back pain. Today, it has become unmanageable and demands immediate attention. Unfortunately, we have to cancel these shows at this time, as we don’t have the ability to reschedule them.”
View this post on InstagramThe statement continued, noting that they were not yet able to reschedule the concerts for later dates.
“Unfortunately, we have to cancel these shows at this time, as we don’t have the ability to reschedule them. However, we are hopeful after this minor surgical procedure which has been scheduled in the next few days, Paul will be able to complete the tour as well as look into returning to make up these dates,” the statement continued. “In the meantime, please go to your point of purchase or local ticket provider for a full refund.”
Being back on tour was likely a triumph for Simon, who has dealt with significant hearing loss that’s kept him off the road in recent years. Seeing him bring the crowd to tears is yet another success story for the musical icon!

2013 Box-Office Flop Ranked 'Best Horror Movie of the 21st Century'
In 2013,Jonathan Glazer finally put his longtime project on the big screen, titled Under the Skin. The film starring Scarlett Johansson was considered a box-office failure, but critics thought otherwise and became one of the most regarded films of the 21st century.
The Hollywood Reporter released an extensive list of the best films to have premiered in the past century, and many that are no longer defined by the category of "Halloween horror." The list includes hits like Talk to Me, Drag Me to Hell, Sinners, Us, Hereditary, and the Korean horror Train to Busan. Glazer's film ended up takingthe No. 1 spot, outranking Jordan Peele's acclaimed Get Out, starring Daniel Kaluuya.
Under the Skin focuses on Johansson in the role of a female extraterrestrial who disguises itself as a human. The alien roams in the evening hours of Scotland to prey on lone men. The film took over a decade to develop and was based on Michel Faber's 2000 novel of the same name. Besides Johansson, the cast was made up of unknown actors and hidden cameras. There's even a scene where Johansson is picked up by a real man on the side of the road, with their interactions and conversation caught on film.

"It’s no surprise that he would make the most original and enigmatic horror movie of the new century — also among the most polarizing — with this experiential adaptation of the Michel Faber novel," commented The Hollywood Reporter.
British actor, TV presenter, and campaigner Adam Pearson also made his acting debut in the film. His neurofibromatosis condition ultimately brought an impactful piece to the storyline, with THR reporting, "the scene in which the alien seduces and then spares the life of a facially disfigured man played by Adam Pearson is as affecting as it is disturbing."
Under the Skin was a box-office flop, having only made $7.4 million against its $13.3 million budget. Critics saw it as one of the most prolific films of the century, with Rotten Tomatoes having called it out for its "absorbing imagery" and Johansson's "mesmerizing performance."

How Old Are ‘House of Villains’ Flirts, Ashley Mitchell and Johnny Middlebrooks?
House of Villains Season 3 is giving us some interesting allies and enemies. Johnny Middlebrooks from Love Island is known for weaponizing his good looks to get his way. Ashley Mitchell from The Challenge won $1 million by refusing to split it with Hunter Barfield.
Ashley switched up her strategy by working more closely with the men, who have experience with competitive games. Her focus has mostly been on Johnny, and it's successfully keeping her safe.
Spoiler alert for House of Villains Episode 4!
Johnny Middlebrooks and Ashley Mitchell party on House of Villains View this post on InstagramJohnny will turn 28 this June. He started his reality TV career as an islander in season 2 of Love Island USA. The student was partnered with Cely Vazquez. He was runner-up with Aurelia Lamprecht on Season 1 of Love Island Games. Johnny eventually competed on The Challenge Blood War and was eliminated.

This probably made him a familiar face to The Challenge winner. Ashley will turn 39 in August. She returned after filming The Challenge four weeks ago, then entered the House of Villains house. "I'm not mentally OK, but I never have been," she joked.
Episode 4 showed Johnny and Ashley hanging out during a party. Johnny gave her a piggyback ride, and they had a silly conversation. "OK, so what book did you read last?" she asked him.
"I don't know if you heard of this book before," he replied. "It's called the dictionary by Webster." She laughed and asked about his bad vocabulary.
The rest of the house noticed how close they were getting. "I would like some tea about whether you think Ashley gonna try f--k Johnny," Kate Chastain said to Tiffany Pollard. They gossiped about the piggyback ride.
Johnny followed Ashley to bed, which got awkward with Paul Abrahamian sitting on their bed right next to the flirty pair. "Do you want me to leave or something?" the Big Brotheralum asked them before leaving. Johnny and Ashley kissed in the bathroom, then in the bedroom.
The rest of the house was aware of the hookup. Plane Jane believed she was twice Johnny's age, which isn't correct. The teaser for episode 5 shows Johnny and Ashley might be targeted for their relationship.
House of Villains new episodes are released on Thursdays at 6 p.m. PT/ 9 p.m. ET.

While accepting her award, Perry made sure to give a shout out to the Full House icon and co-star. Cameras captured Bure a bit misty-eyed while watching her daughter on stage.

This Stunning Mountain State Was Officially Named the Best Place to Retire In the U.S.
For years, Florida dominated conversations about retirement. Palm trees, sunshine, and beachfront condos have long been the classic picture of life after work. But a recent analysis suggests something surprising. The best state to retire in America may actually be tucked high in the Rocky Mountain West.
According to a new study by WalletHub, Wyoming ranked as the best state to retire in the United States, evaluated across dozens of factors including affordability, quality of life, and healthcare access. The ranking analyzed 46 indicators ranging from tax rates to recreational opportunities.
For travelers who have driven across Wyoming’s sweeping plains or stood beneath the towering Tetons, the result might not feel so surprising. The state’s wide open landscapes, outdoor recreation, and low taxes create a lifestyle that feels both peaceful and adventurous. If retirement is about reclaiming time, Wyoming offers plenty of space to spend it.
Be the first to know about new travel trends, tips, and tales—subscribe now.
Why Wyoming Was Named the Best State to RetireWalletHub’s ranking placed Wyoming at the top largely because of its financial advantages. The state ranked first in affordability in the study, thanks in part to its lack of state income tax and relatively low cost of living compared with many parts of the country.
For retirees living on savings, pensions, or Social Security, that difference matters. Without a state income tax, retirees can keep more of their retirement income each year. The study also notes that Wyoming performs strongly in quality of life measures such as outdoor recreation opportunities and environmental conditions.
There is also a less measurable factor that often draws people west. Space. Wyoming is the least populated state in the U.S., which means quiet landscapes, uncrowded parks, and a slower pace of life that many retirees crave after decades of busy schedules. When I think about retirement destinations, I imagine mornings that start slowly, perhaps with coffee overlooking mountain peaks instead of traffic. Wyoming feels built for exactly that kind of rhythm.
View this post on Instagram Small Wyoming Towns That Are Ideal for RetirementRetiring in Wyoming does not necessarily mean living in a remote cabin. Several towns across the state offer a mix of community, scenery, and practical amenities.
JacksonThe town of Jackson, Wyoming is one of the most famous mountain towns in America. Sitting near Grand Teton National Park and the southern entrance to Yellowstone National Park, it offers breathtaking scenery and easy access to hiking, wildlife viewing, and skiing.
Jackson has a lively arts scene, excellent restaurants, and a steady stream of visitors. While housing costs are higher here than elsewhere in Wyoming, many retirees are drawn by the unmatched landscape and outdoor lifestyle.

CheyenneFor retirees looking for a quieter and more affordable option, Cheyenne, Wyoming stands out. The state capital offers small city conveniences with a population of about 65,000 and access to parks, trails, and cultural attractions.
Cheyenne also offers strong healthcare access, with hospitals and hundreds of medical facilities in the county, while larger medical centers in nearby Colorado are within driving distance. For many retirees, it strikes a balance between rural calm and everyday practicality.
The Outdoor Lifestyle That Makes Retirement Feel Like a VacationOne of Wyoming’s biggest draws is the sheer variety of outdoor experiences available year round. Retirees who settle here are rarely bored. The state is home to some of the most iconic natural landscapes in North America. Visitors can watch geysers erupt in Yellowstone, hike through alpine valleys in Grand Teton, or explore wide open prairies where antelope outnumber people.
Fishing, wildlife watching, hiking, horseback riding, and photography all become part of daily life here. For travelers who spent decades dreaming about road trips and national park adventures, retiring in Wyoming means those experiences are suddenly right outside the front door. Even simple drives become memorable. A sunset across the plains or a herd of bison crossing a road can turn an ordinary afternoon into something unforgettable.

What Travelers Should Know Before Considering WyomingAs idyllic as Wyoming can be, retirement here does come with tradeoffs. Winters can be long and cold, especially in higher elevation areas. The state also ranks lower in healthcare availability than some larger states due to its rural population.
Don't miss a beat—subscribe now for trending travel updates and destination guides.
Distances between towns can also be significant. A trip to the grocery store or a medical appointment may require a longer drive than retirees are used to in urban areas. Still, for many people, those tradeoffs are part of the appeal. Wyoming offers something increasingly rare in modern America. Quiet. Space. And a sense that the landscape still sets the pace of life. If retirement is meant to feel like a new chapter rather than simply slowing down, Wyoming might just be the place where that chapter begins.
1976 Timeless Classic Was a No. 1 Hit 50 Years Ago Today
In 1976, Tina Charles delivered one of the decade's most infectious dance hits.
Her single, "I Love to Love (But My Baby Loves to Dance)" climbed to No. 1 on the U.K. Singles Chart, becoming a defining track of the disco era and a staple of dance floors around the world.
Released during the height of disco's global explosion, the song's upbeat rhythm, catchy melody and Charles' bright, powerful vocals made it instantly memorable. Written and produced by British songwriter Biddu, the track captured the shimmering sound that was dominating clubs and radio in the mid-1970s.
"I Love to Love" became an international success shortly after its release, topping the charts in the United Kingdom and reaching audiences across Europe, Australia and beyond. Its playful lyrics about a romance complicated by a partner who would rather dance than focus on love only added to the song's charm.
"I think maybe the reason why I love disco and I was in the whole disco era is 'cause I'm a happy person and disco to me is a happy thing," Charles told iTV2 in 2004. "Maybe that's what's kept me happy all my life.
The hit helped cement Charles as one of the most recognizable voices of disco's golden age. Although she had previously provided vocals on other recordings, including the dance hit "You Set My Heart on Fire," "I Love to Love" marked her true breakthrough as a solo star.
The song's success also highlighted the influence of producer Biddu, who helped shape the glossy, high-energy disco sound that defined the era. His work on the track blended pop accessibility with the pulsing rhythms that made disco music a global phenomenon.
"Tina Charles was pure luck," Biddu told Rolling Stone India in 2010. "I was telling a friend of mine that it would be nice to have a girl singer and he knew this girl who sang in a club. So I went and saw her. She had a nice voice. So I asked her if she would sign up with me and she did. We made this song, 'I Love to Love.'"
More than five decades after its release, "I Love to Love (But My Baby Loves to Dance)" remains a beloved classic and a sparkling reminder of the era when disco ruled the charts and Tina Charles' voice was lighting up dance floors everywhere.

Former NFL Champion Potentially Involved With WrestleMania
Tom Brady, un-retiring again? Not quite, but the seven-time Super Bowl champion might see some action again, courtesy of the WWE.
Brady, 48, has spent the last few weeks clashing with influencer-turned-WWE wrestler Logan Paul. And with WrestleMania 42 happening in Las Vegas this year (home to the Las Vegas Raiders, of whom Brady is a partial owner), WWE is reportedly making moves to have Brady involved.
Wrestlevotes Radio on Fightful Select reported that the WWE is working on logos, specialty merchandise, and branding that features Tom Brady. The sports entertainment leader has reportedly developed multiple nicknames for the NFL legend, including "T-Bone" and "The Untouchable Tom Brady."
In addition to being a partial owner of the Raiders, whose Allegiant Stadium will host WrestleMania 42 on April 18-19, Sports Illustratednotes that Brady is part owner of Fanatics, the company that creates WWE's merchandise.

It was actually a Fanatics event that sparked Brady's possible involvement with WrestleMania. The former New England Patriots quarterback will take part in The Fanatics Flag Football Classic, a 5-on-5 flag football tournament. Paul, 30, will also play in the tourney, and to promote the event, he had Brady on his Impaulsive podcast.
"I'm told that I am being flown out to Saudi Arabia to compete in a Fanatics flag football game with you," said Paul (the event was initially scheduled for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; it will reportedly relocate to Los Angeles due to the ongoing conflict between the U.S. and Iran, according to The Athletic).
"I actually am a little worried for you," said Brady. "You're a good athlete, but you're like… No, no, no. These guys are another level."
Paul claimed that he was "elite" because of the moves he pulls off in the WWE ring. To Brady, his athleticism was "cute."
"It's great, you know I love WWE. It is very cute," said Brady. "But honestly, this is like real football. This is just real competition."
Brady and Paul took their trash talk to social media. On March 3, Brady posted an Instagram Reel of him practicing with his former teammate, Rob Gronkowski. In a strange case of role reversals, the normally rowdy Gronk tried to be diplomatic, arguing that Paul was an "entertainer" who had shown skill in combat sports. In came Brady to shout, "Logan Paul's a b-tch. Just say he's a b-tch."
Of course, Brady's comments didn't go over well with the WWE's roster of Superstars.

A decorative solar light is a great low-lift piece that’ll instantly make your home feel warm and welcoming once again. This Mehoom Fairy Solar Stake Light at Walmart is a fantastic option, and it’s filled to the brim with fairycore charm.
There’s no better time than now to snag it because it’s currently on sale for less than $20! Normally retailing for $29, this fairy stake light is now marked down to just $19. You’re not going to want to miss out on this fantastic deal because this is the best price available across retailers. Amazon has a very similar version of this light, which is currently on sale for $25.
Mehoom Fairy Solar Stake Light, $19 (was $29) at WalmartThis nature-inspired solar light stake perfectly captures the fairycore aesthetic. Whimsical and charming, it features an ethereal silhouette of a fairy with ornate scrollwork cutouts on the wings and a butterfly perched on its hand. The fairy sits daintily on the bottom curve of a crescent moon, boasting delicate cutouts. This area also allows the light to shine through and cast gorgeous shadows that’ll transform your home’s outdoor space into a magical oasis. As the finishing accent, the moon features a star charm that hangs down elegantly from the top of the crescent.
Opposed to plug-in or battery-powered lights, this is an eco-friendly, sustainable choice that relies on solar power. The solar panel is fixed on the stake and only requires six to eight hours of sunlight to charge up. Once it gets dark, the light automatically turns on and glows for up to 10 hours! Designed to withstand all weather conditions, including rain, the light is completely waterproof with an IP65 rating. Reviewers attested to this, noting that the light still worked well, even when in the rain.
Made of pure iron with a weathered finish, this fairy stake light has a charming antique feel to it. Adding to that vintage-inspired aesthetic, the warm white LED lightbulb is covered by a crackled glass orb. Because the orb has a yellow tone, the light radiates a warm amber hue, creating a cozy and inviting ambiance.
“It gives off a soft, warm glow at night that makes the garden feel magical,” one reviewer raved. “It definitely adds charm to the outdoor space!” Another shopper described it as “absolutely beautiful.” They also mentioned that “the light is really bright” and that it looked great in their garden.
The moon and fairy topper measure 7 inches wide and tall, while the entire stake light, including the topper, measures 32 inches tall. While it’ll magically light up your outdoor space at night, it makes for a decorative ornament that’ll grace your lawn, garden, or walkway with all its fairycore glory during the day.

A New Freezer Find at Sam’s Club Makes Meatless Fridays Easy
After a long week, when Friday rolls around, there isn't always much energy left for making dinner. And if you have kids who would happily eat chicken nuggets every night of the week, Sam's Club has something new in stores that can shake up the routine while still keeping things simple.
Even better, it fits right into Meatless Fridays.
The warehouse retailer is now carrying Safe Catch Breaded Fish Nuggets, a frozen seafood option made with wild-caught pollock. The nuggets come in a 2-pound family-size box and cook up quickly in either the oven or an air fryer, making them an easy option for weeknights when time is short.

Safe Catch Fish Nuggets Bring a Cleaner Twist to a Familiar FavoriteThe nuggets are made with wild-caught pollock and coated in a light breading designed to deliver the classic crispy bite people expect from nugget-style foods. According to the brand, each serving contains 18 grams of protein, making them a filling option that still cooks quickly.
One detail that stands out for many is the ingredient list. The nuggets are made without seed oils, artificial additives, or fillers, and instead use avocado oil and plant-based ingredients in the breading.
The cooking process is straightforward as well. In the air fryer, the nuggets cook at 400°F for about 10 to 11 minutes. In a conventional oven, they bake at 425°F for about 18 to 20 minutes, with a quick flip halfway through.
These fish nuggets work well for quick dinners, after-school snacks, or casual weekend meals when you want something warm and crispy with minimal effort.
For anyone trying to mix up the usual rotation, Safe Catch's fish nuggets are an option that's still familiar enough for kids while adding a little variety to the menu.
So when Friday night rolls around, and dinner needs to come together fast, an option like this one at Sam's Club can be a welcome change.
Why One 'Amazing Race' Couple Is Suing CBS For $8 Million Over a 'Jaw-Dropping' Edit
Jonathan and Ana Rivera Towns placed third on season 37 of The Amazing Race.
Now, the couple is suing the network for $8 million over claims that producers weaponized Jonathan's undiagnosed autism to portray him as a villain. The San Bernardino County residents filed the complaint on March 4 in Los Angeles Superior Court. The lawsuit names Worldrace Productions, Paramount Global, CBS Broadcasting, ABC Signature Studios and Jerry Bruckheimer Films. The couple is representing themselves and claiming defamation and false light invasion of privacy.
A Post-Show DiagnosisThe core of the lawsuit centers on a recent medical discovery.
Since filming wrapped, three independent licensed professionals diagnosed Jonathan with autism spectrum disorder. The couple alleges producers watched him experience severe neurological episodes on camera and failed to offer medical assistance. Instead, they claim the footage was edited to make him appear abusive to his wife.
The filing states Jonathan exhibited episodes of acute emotional dysregulation, autistic meltdown, behavioral shutdown, sensory overload, involuntary dissociation and prolonged weeping during the 33-day shoot in May and June of 2024. Neither Jonathan nor Ana knew he had autism at the time. The complaint alleges that no licensed mental health professionals were made available to the cast during production.
What Made the Final CutThe court documents highlight specific footage producers allegedly chose to ignore. The couple claims the network cut footage of Jonathan crying in concern while Ana completed a skydiving challenge in Leg 6. A warm embrace in Leg 3 and cheerful interactions with locals in Leg 7 were also scrapped.
In contrast, the complaint alleges that other contestants had their conflicts quietly buried. The filing claims multiple people witnessed cast member Lori Thompson physically shove another contestant during Leg 5, but the incident did not air. Contestants Han and Holden were also recorded raising their voices at each other during Leg 10, which was also cut. The lawsuit argues that Jonathan's difficult moments were centered across multiple episodes under a standard applied to no one else.

Public Backlash and Requested DamagesThe legal filing also targets show host Phil Keoghan. The complaint alleges Keoghan made unprecedented public statements calling Jonathan "tough" on his wife. It further claims a single publication ran 13 negative articles about Jonathan over the course of the season in a coordinated effort.
In addition to the $8 million in compensatory damages, the couple is seeking punitive damages and a formal written public apology. They also requested a court injunction to force producers to either re-edit the season or add disclaimers on all streaming platforms.
CBS and Paramount did not respond to requests for comment.

'80s Legend Weighs in on Major Rock Hall Nomination
Rock legend Cyndi Lauper is making it very clear who she thinks deserves a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year, and fans of The Black Crowes are loving the support.
In a recent Instagram Reel, the 2025 Rock Hall inductee, 72, enthusiastically backed the iconic rock band’s nomination, urging fans to rally behind the group as this year’s induction voting continues.
Lauper, whose own long-awaited induction into the Hall was celebrated by fans and fellow musicians alike, didn’t hold back in showing her admiration.
"Congratulations! Put that champagne on the ice! You're a rock band! A classic!" Lauper boasts in the video. "Who don't love ya? I do!"
"Thanks for the love Cyndi… right back at ya!," The Black Crowes account captioned the post.
For many rock lovers, it’s hard to argue with her take.
"Keep that positive vibes and happiness!" one fan commented.
"So sweet and she’s correct," another chimed in.
Formed by brothersChris and Rich Robinson, The Black Crowes became one of the defining rock bands of the early ’90s thanks to their blues-infused sound, gritty vocals and unmistakable swagger. Their breakout debut album, Shake Your Money Maker, spawned hits like "Hard to Handle" and helped reintroduce a classic rock energy to a new generation.
Now, decades later, the band is still going strong, and arguably more visible than ever.
The Rock Hall nomination arrives at a particularly busy moment for the group. The Black Crowes are preparing to release their highly anticipated new album, A Pound of Feathers, arriving March 13. The record follows their 2024 GRAMMY-nominated album Happiness Bastards, which marked a major creative comeback for the band and reminded longtime fans why they fell in love with the group in the first place.
The band is also gearing up for a massive tour that will see them headlining shows across the country, along with several high-profile dates supporting Guns N' Roses — a pairing that feels tailor-made for rock fans who still crave big guitars and arena-level energy.
With a new album on the way, a major tour ahead and one of rock’s most recognizable voices publicly championing them, the timing of their Rock Hall nomination couldn’t feel more fitting.
Now the big question is whether voters—and fans—will agree with Lauper and help push The Black Crowes across the finish line.

That makes it a convenient choice for nights when cooking from scratch just is not realistic. Instead of planning a complicated meal, you can pop it in the oven, set the table and relax while it bakes.
On social media, Aldi fans have shared their excitement about its return. Some say they wait all year for this easy dinner to come back. Others mention stocking up when it is available. That sense of anticipation has helped turn this pizza into more than just a grocery item. It has become a seasonal tradition for many shoppers.
You Can Customize Each BitePart of the appeal is how customizable it can be. While it is tasty on its own, some people like to add toppings to make it even heartier. A drizzle of hot honey adds a sweet-and-spicy kick. Others suggest adding buffalo chicken or barbecue chicken for extra protein. Pairing it with a fresh salad and a simple dressing can round out the meal and balance the carbs with greens.
Because this item is offered as an Aldi Find, it will only be available while supplies last. That limited availability is part of what makes shoppers look forward to it each year. Little-Known Californian National Park Named as a Top Camping Spot
Just off the Southern California coast lies one of the most surprising camping destinations in the United States. While millions of travelers crowd into places like Yosemite National Park or Joshua Tree National Park each year, the rugged islands of Channel Islands National Park remain a quieter frontier.
Accessible only by boat or small plane, this remote park feels more like a wilderness expedition than a typical California getaway. When I first learned about camping there, the idea sounded almost mythical. A national park with sea cliffs, dolphins in the surrounding waters, and campsites overlooking the Pacific, yet without the crowds that dominate many iconic parks. Outdoor travel outlets have highlighted the park as one of California’s best camping destinations, largely because of its remote landscapes, wildlife encounters, and the feeling of stepping into a place that has remained largely untouched by modern development.

@iain1040Channel Islands National Park is renowned for its large number of complex, beautiful sea caves, vast array of marine life and incredible views that not many people get the chance to see. ♬ Outro - M83 Why Channel Islands National Park Is One of California’s Best Camping DestinationsThe park consists of five islands scattered across the Pacific Ocean, each with its own campground and terrain. According to the National Park Service, camping is available year round on all five islands including Anacapa, Santa Cruz, Santa Rosa, San Miguel, and Santa Barbara. Each island has a single established campground, making overnight stays limited and special.
Unlike many mainland parks, there are no hotels, restaurants, or stores waiting at the trailhead. Once you arrive, you carry your gear to the campsite and rely on what you brought with you. Campgrounds are primitive with simple facilities like picnic tables and pit toilets. In many cases, campers must bring their own water and pack out all trash.
That level of simplicity is exactly what draws travelers here. The islands sit within a protected marine ecosystem spanning roughly 1,470 square miles of ocean waters, creating a haven for marine life, seabirds, and rare island species. Hiking trails weave across coastal bluffs and volcanic ridges, offering sweeping views of the Pacific that feel more remote than Southern California usually allows.
Camping on a Remote Island: What the Experience Is Really LikePlanning a camping trip to Channel Islands requires more preparation than most national park visits. Unlike driving into a park entrance, visitors must first book transportation by boat or private vessel, often departing from Ventura Harbor on the mainland. Campsite reservations are required and typically open up six months in advance, which means popular weekends fill quickly.
Once the boat pulls away from the harbor, the experience begins to feel very different from a typical camping trip. Dolphins frequently appear alongside the ferry, and during migration seasons it is possible to spot whales passing through the channel. By the time the islands rise out of the water, the mainland skyline has faded behind you.
Related: Beloved National Park Currently Has the Best Flowers Since the 2016 Superbloom
The campsites themselves are intentionally simple. Some, like Scorpion Canyon on Santa Cruz Island, sit within walking distance of dramatic coastal viewpoints. Others require steeper hikes from the landing area, adding a sense of expedition to the arrival. With no cars and almost no infrastructure, the islands quickly settle into a quiet rhythm defined by ocean wind, seabird calls, and the sound of waves below the cliffs.
Wildlife, Coastal Views, and Outdoor Adventures Beyond the TentCamping here is only the beginning of the adventure. The islands are known for their wildlife, including the tiny island fox that exists nowhere else on Earth. Bald eagles, seabirds, and migrating whales also make regular appearances depending on the season.
Many visitors spend their days hiking coastal trails that climb to dramatic viewpoints above the Pacific. On islands like Santa Cruz, trails lead to places such as Cavern Point where cliffs plunge down toward turquoise coves. These vantage points often feel astonishingly empty compared to similar coastal landscapes on the mainland.
The surrounding waters also offer some of the best kayaking and snorkeling in California. Sea caves carved into the cliffs create surreal paddling routes, while underwater kelp forests attract sea lions and colorful fish. Because the surrounding waters are protected within a marine sanctuary, marine life thrives in ways that surprise first-time visitors.
