Middle East Tensions Are Closing Key Airspace Routes—Here’s What Travel Insurance Covers Amid Conflict

Fri, 03/06/2026 - 2:32pm

Missile strikes have sparked sweeping shutdowns of Middle Eastern skies, sending shockwaves through global aviation. As of yet, at least 20,000 flights in and out of the Middle East region have been canceled since the initial U.S.-Israeli attacks on Iran. Many more have been redirected, with aircraft grounded around the region, from Dubai to Doha.

For travelers trapped in the turbulence, the pressing question persists: Who picks up the price of the disruption? When conflict in the Middle East forces airlines to reroute flights or close major airspace corridors, does travel insurance cover cancellations or other costs?

The short answer: Sometimes, but probably not in the way most travelers expect.

While many assume their travel insurance will reimburse cancellations or hotel stays, the reality is that most policies contain strict "war exclusion" clauses, which limit coverage for events directly caused by military conflict or geopolitical instability.

That doesn't necessarily mean that travelers are completely unprotected, however. Travel insurance still plays an important role during crises, but the benefits that apply often fall into different categories than you might immediately assume.

Below is a breakdown of what travel insurance typically covers during major disruptions like Middle East airspace closures—and how three of the most popular policies available to Americans approach scenarios like the one currently unfolding.

What Travel Insurance Usually Covers During Airspace Closures

Most travel insurance policies include a "secondary coverage" clause, meaning they won't pay for losses that can be recovered from another source (such as the airline, hotel, or operator). In practice, this means if an airline offers a refund, voucher, or rebooking option, your travel insurer is likely to consider the claim ineligible.

In the United States, under U.S. Department of Transportation rules, for example, airlines are legally expected to provide passengers with refunds for canceled flights, even if the disruption is caused by geopolitical events. This includes fees for checked bags or upgrades.

Rebooking on alternative routes is usually the first solution an airline will offer, regardless of where you are. Travelers are advised to document all communications with airlines, as travel insurers often require proof that expenses weren't already reimbursed before approving claims for delays, accommodations, or related costs.

Even during geopolitical disruptions, however, many travel insurance policies still cover secondary travel issues, including but not limited to:

  • Medical emergencies abroad. If you get sick or injured while stranded amid conflict, medical expenses are typically still covered if the illness isn't related to the conflict.
  • Travel delays. Some policies reimburse meals, hotels, or essential purchases after a delay of several hours, up to a capped amount.
  • Missed connections. If a delay unrelated to the conflict causes you to miss a connection, travel insurance may help cover rebooking costs.
  • Lost or delayed baggage. Travel insurance coverage for luggage issues generally still applies, regardless of geopolitical events.
  • Emergency assistance services. Many travel insurers offer 24/7 support to help travelers find medical care, rebook flights, or replace medication.

However, trip cancellations or disruptions directly caused by war or military activity are usually excluded unless you purchase special upgrades like "Cancel for Any Reason" (CFAR).

3 Popular Travel Insurance Policies for Americans

While policies vary widely, several major travel insurance providers used by Americans offer similar core protections during major travel disruptions. Here's how three widely used options—Allianz, World Nomads, and SafetyWing—typically structure their coverage.

Allianz Travel Insurance

Allianz is one of the largest travel insurance providers in the United States and is frequently offered during airline and cruise bookings.

Typical coverage under the OneTrip Prime plan includes trip cancellation and interruption benefits, reimbursement for travel delays, baggage loss or delay protection, and emergency medical care abroad. Travelers may also receive coverage for emergency medical evacuation if they become seriously ill or injured while overseas.

During events like Middle East airspace closures, Allianz policies may reimburse certain travel delay expenses, such as meals, hotels, or transportation, once a delay exceeds a specified number of hours. However, most Allianz plans include exclusions for losses directly caused by war or military conflict—unless travelers purchase additional coverage or cancel before the situation becomes a "known event."

"Allianz Travel insurance policies contain specific exclusions stating that there is no cover under any section of the policy for claims that arise directly or indirectly from any act of war, whether declared or undeclared," Allianz stated in a press release about the current conflict. "In addition, for those customers that are not directly impacted but are reconsidering their travel plans, policies have an exclusion, meaning that there is no cover for any claim that results from the policyholder or their travel companions changing their plans. These exclusions mean that travelers and travel agents will need to work within the flexibility provided by airlines and other suppliers for refunds, rebooking, or accommodation if flights are canceled or there are delays due to the conflict."

Travelers who want more flexibility often opt for an upgrade like CCFAR coverage, which can reimburse a portion of prepaid trip costs even if the disruption falls outside traditional covered reasons.

World Nomads

World Nomads is especially popular among independent travelers, backpackers, and digital nomads because its policies can often be purchased or extended while already on the road.

Its Standard and Explorer plans typically include emergency medical coverage abroad, evacuation benefits, trip-interruption protection, and reimbursement for lost or delayed luggage. The Explorer plan also expands coverage for certain adventure activities, such as scuba diving, skiing, and trekking.

If a major geopolitical event causes airlines to reroute flights or close airspace, World Nomads policies may still help cover secondary disruptions, such as travel delays, accommodation costs caused by missed connections, or medical treatment unrelated to the conflict. However, most plans don't cover conflict-incurred costs.

"The majority of our travel protection plan designs exclude coverage for losses resulting from hostilities between nations and acts of war," the insurance provider shared in a recent post about tensions in the Middle East. "However, coverage may vary depending on your specific travel protection plan, so we encourage you to review your policy documents for details on how your coverage may apply. If you are currently in the Middle East and impacted by the conflict, we encourage you to reach out to the 24/7 Emergency Assistance Team."

Like most insurers, however, World Nomads generally excludes losses directly resulting from acts of war or armed conflict unless travelers cancel their trip before the event becomes a known risk.

SafetyWing

SafetyWing has become a popular option for remote workers and long-term travelers, particularly those who want subscription-style travel medical insurance rather than a single-trip policy.

Its Nomad Insurance plans focus primarily on medical coverage abroad rather than trip cancellation benefits. Coverage usually includes treatment for unexpected illness or injury, hospital stays, emergency medical evacuation, and certain travel-related incidents like lost luggage.

Because SafetyWing is designed more like global health insurance for travelers, it can be useful for people who find themselves stranded abroad due to disruptions like airspace closures. Medical treatment unrelated to the conflict is typically still covered, and the company offers support services that help travelers locate hospitals or arrange evacuation if needed.

However, like most travel insurance providers, SafetyWing policies also contain exclusions related to active war zones or injuries directly resulting from armed conflict. "War, terrorism, military action or while on duty as a member of a police or military force unit," are listed under "What's Not Covered."

What to Do If Your Travel Insurance Doesn't Cover Conflict-Incurred Costs

During large-scale disruptions such as Middle East airspace closures, travel insurance can still provide important protection—especially for medical emergencies, travel delays, and lost luggage. But cancellations or disruptions directly caused by war are often excluded, making it essential to review policy details before purchasing coverage.

If your travel insurance doesn't cover a cost tied to conflict or airspace closures, you're not necessarily out of options. In many cases, airlines are the first line of protection, especially if they cancel or significantly delay your flight. Carriers typically allow travelers to rebook on alternate routes or receive refunds when they cancel flights outright.

Credit cards that offer travel protections—particularly premium cards—may also reimburse certain costs such as hotels, meals, or replacement transportation if delays meet their eligibility requirements. It's also worth reaching out to tour operators, cruise lines, and hotels directly to find out whether or not they offer flexible cancellation policies during major geopolitical events.

While insurance may not always pay out in war-related disruptions, these other protections can still help you recover at least part of your costs.

Savannah Guthrie's Mom Nancy Update: New Search Plans Revealed

Fri, 03/06/2026 - 2:30pm

Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie‘s mom, Nancy Guthrie, remains missing more than a month after the abduction from her Tucson, Ariz., home—and recently, new search plans from the United Cajun Navy were revealed.

In a March 4 YouTube video from NewsNation senior correspondent Brian Entin, he shared details of the proposal in the search for the 84-year-old. However, the Pima County Sheriff's Department (PCSD) rejected the request.

“I actually got my hands on their operational plan that they submitted to the sheriff’s office," Entin shared. "It’s in-depth. It goes for 41 pages.”

The United Cajun Navy's detailed plan included "thermal drone operations, HRD land and water canine teams, track, trail, and scent-specific canines, ground search volunteers," he explained.

Entin added, "They have, like, 25 canines that they could bring in, including cadaver dogs… They’ve got all sorts of detail in here, drone operators, canine handlers, a lot of retired law enforcement… aerial reconnaissance, thermal sweeps… ground grid searches."

Additionally, the search plan for Nancy called for the operation to work under the direction of the PCSD—and that statements wouldn't be made to the press without approval.

"So, they seem to really be trying to make the point that they do not want to just do their own thing, Entin pointed out. "They really want the sheriff to sign off… What I thought was interesting, though, was media protocol… no independent press releases, all media approved by PCSO, family sensitivity priority.”

On Feb. 21, the PCSD released a statement via X about private search parties in Nancy's investigation.

“Private Search Parties: Volunteer search groups have inquired about being in the area. Per the Sheriff, they were asked to please give investigators the space they need to do their work," the message began. "We appreciate their concern, and we all want to find Nancy, but this work is best left to professionals. PCSD has volunteer opportunities if they wish to get involved with the department. Private property laws apply, and it is up to each individual property owner to grant permission for someone to search their property.”

On Feb. 1, the PCSD began its search for Nancy, who was last seen at her Catalina Foothills home on Jan. 31. Savannah and her siblings, Annie and Camron, have since posted several video messages to the potential captor(s) after receiving multiple alleged ransom notes. Most recently, Savannah offered a $1 million reward for any information leading to Nancy’s return.

Those with any information about Nancy’s missing case are advised to contact the FBI tip line at 1-800-CALL-FBI.

Disney Finally Answers 'Toy Story' Question Fans Have Spent 30 Years Wondering About

Fri, 03/06/2026 - 2:28pm

Nearly three decades after the release of Toy Story 2, Disney has seemingly confirmed that two of the movie's lead characters are indeed siblings.

The confirmation comes via a new sticker collection from the iconic animation company, which reveals that both Tom Hanks' lead character Woody and Joan Cusack's yodeling cowgirl Jessie share the same last name: Pride.

The new reveal comes 27 years after the theatrical debut of Toy Story 2, which also marked the first appearance of Cusack's free-spirited lead character. In the three decade interim, numerous fans have speculated about the relationship between Woody and Jessie, with some believing them to be romantic partners while others believed them to be distant relatives.

While a relatively minor detail in itself, most social media users were quick to voice their appreciation towards Disney for confirming the long-standing fan theory.

"Guess this isn't surprising news, but a satisfying one, indeed, because it clears up the running theories people had with them," one user said on Facebook.

"They always gave off older brother and younger sister vibes," added another a fan.

"The way they fight I knew they were," echoed a third user, quoting a line from the film, "'Well, if the boot fits.'"

In the context of Toy Story's fictional universe, Woody and Jessie both originate from the 1950s TV series, Woody's Roundup, alongside fellow Western-themed characters Bullseye and Stinky Pete.

Looking ahead, both characters and their respective voice actors (Hanks and Cusack) are set to return for the upcoming sequel, Toy Story 5. They will be joined by several returning cast members from the previous Toy Story films, including Tim Allen, Tony Hale, John Ratzenberger, Wallace Shawn, Annie Potts, Blake Clark, Kristen Schaal and Keanu Reeves, among others.

In addition, several new cast members are also set to round out the ensemble, including Greta Lee, Craig Robinson, Shelby Rabara, Matty Matheson and Conan O'Brien.

'Traitors' Star Rob Rausch Says This Southern Fast-Food Staple Is His Go-To Order

Fri, 03/06/2026 - 2:25pm

Reality TV fans watched him strategize and compete—but now that the cameras have stopped rolling, one thing has become very clear about Rob Rausch: he knows exactly what he wants to eat.

After his big moment on The Traitors, Rausch is embracing everyday life again, and that includes his favorite comfort meals. While he enjoys keeping things balanced at home, he doesn't hesitate to indulge when it comes to fast food. And his go-to order is pure Southern satisfaction.

In an exclusive interview with Delish, Rausch shared the drive-thru meal he orders most often—and it's not shy on flavor.

The Fast-Food Order Rausch Keeps Coming Back To

When cravings hit, Rausch heads to Zaxby's for the Kickin' Chicken Sandwich Meal. But he doesn't stop at the standard version. His order comes with heavy sauce, an extra cup of hot honey mustard and a Sprite on the side.

"I get that quite a bit," he told Delish, confirming this is a regular part of his routine.

It's the kind of order that balances crispy, spicy and sweet. For fans who followed him through the intense competition, it's also a reminder that even reality stars lean into comfort food once the game ends.

Rausch has always embraced his Southern roots, and that shows up in his food preferences. Beyond fast food, he's quick to celebrate regional classics like Alabama barbecue and traditional biscuits and gravy. In his view, these dishes don't always get the recognition they deserve outside the South.

"No one does it like Alabama," he said, noting that proper preparation makes all the difference.

Comfort Food, Southern Style

While viewers may associate Rausch with high-stakes challenges, his everyday approach to eating is refreshingly straightforward. He's not afraid of bold flavors, generous portions or a little mess—especially when it comes to his favorite sandwich.

His food philosophy seems to match his personality: authentic, relaxed and unapologetically Southern. Whether he's grabbing takeout, enjoying barbecue back home or ordering a fully loaded chicken sandwich, he sticks to what he loves.

And for fans curious about how reality TV winners unwind after the spotlight fades, Rausch's answer is simple. Sometimes it's about staying disciplined. Sometimes it's about treating yourself. And sometimes it's about heading to your favorite fast food spot and ordering exactly what you want.

In his case, that means one very specific sandwich meal—heavy sauce and all.

Braff served as best man, while singersJessica Simpsonand Joshua Radin were among the bridal party. Famous guests included the likes of Sarah Chalke, Ashlee Simpson, Seth Green and Clueless alums BreckinMeyerElisaDonovan and StaceyDash.

Speaking of Jessica Simpson, prior to marrying Faison, Cobb was the pop star's longtime personal assistant. CaCee even popped up alongside the famous performer in reality shows like Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica and The Price of Beauty.

Simpson revealed in her 2020 memoir Open Book that the two blonde beauties had a falling out following Jessica's 2005 split from her husband Nick Lachey—and subsequent rebound withJohn Mayer. “CaCee felt uncomfortable with my decision to date John," Jessica wrote. "I always saw CaCee as my friend first, but she was always very professional as well ... How did Donald Faison and CaCee Cobb meet?

Fittingly, it was through Zach Braff that Faison met his future bride. The couple first met at Braff’s 30thbirthday party in 2005, according to the pair's popular rewatch podcast Fake Doctors, Real Friends with Zach and Donald

During the episode, Faison and Cobb also revealed that while they were romantically involved for the better part of a decade at the time of their 2011 engagement, they initially didn't want to get married. However, a shopping trip to some jewelry stores around Los Angeles changed that.

“I don’t remember if he got down on one knee, but I remember the box had a light in it, and the ring was spinning,” Cobb said. “The best part was he was like, ‘I love you! I love you!’ and I was like, ‘Oh my god!’” The rest is marital history.

What happened to Donald Faison's first wife?

From 2001 to 2005, Faison was married to Lisa Askey. Askey was a nursing student when the couple began dating in 1997, a few years after Faison's breakout role as Murray Duvall in the 1995 comedy Clueless. Together, they had three children: twins Dade and Kaya (born in 1999), and son Kobe (born in 2001).

Sadly, Askey passed away in March 2017 at the age of 45. Faison paid tribute to his late former wife on Instagram, resharing a post from his son and adding: "My son Dade is very brave. Today he and his brother Kobe and sister Kaya lost their mother. Lisa Askey Faison. She and I never really saw eye to eye but one thing we did share was our love for our children."

"RIP Lisa," Faison continued. "You raised three beautiful children into fine adults and I am forever grateful for that. May god bless your soul with light and love."

How many children do CaCee Cobb and Donald Faison have?

Faison and Cobb share two biological children: son Rocco Faison (born in August 2013) and daughter Wilder Frances Faison (born in April 2015). Cobb is also the stepmother to Faison's older children from his previous relationships—including his first son, Sean Faison-Ince (born 1996), with ex-girlfriend Audrey Ince—as well as his three children (Dade, Kobe and Kaya) with his late ex-wife Lisa Askey. When Askey died in 2017, the children moved in with Faison and Cobb.

“I’m Disney Dad. I’m the one that you can count on for the laughs and the fun times,” Faison told PEOPLE about his parenting style in a 2019 interview. “I think that’s a horrible quality to have, as well. It’s rare that I discipline.”

“As my kids have gotten older, I’ve become … not more opinionated, but I feel like I’ve had to use my experiences in life to explain to them why what they’re doing isn’t going to work,” Faison continued. “But as far as being strict, no. And that’s good and bad.”

Do Zach Braff and Donald Faison like each other?

Yes, Faison and Braff's close friendship isn't just for the cameras—Zach served as Donald's best man during his wedding to CaCee Cobb and is even godfather to the couple's children Rocco and Wilder Frances.

Faison delved into the early days of the duo's friendship during a March 2024 appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show. "The first time I met him was at the table read for Scrubs,” Faison recalled, per NBC. “And we talked for a little bit, and I was like, ‘Wow, we kind of have the same sense of humor.’ And after the first season was over, we both went to New York,” adding that the twosome actually shared an apartment together in the city.

Faison continued: "I realized he was my best friend when we were in the living room playing ping pong in our underwear. I was like ‘You’re my best friend! Look at us!'"

Ryan Gosling Reveals Advice From '90s 'SNL' Star Before First Time Hosting

Fri, 03/06/2026 - 2:16pm

Though Ryan Gosling has become a fan favorite on Saturday Night Live over the past decade, he will always remember his first time hosting and the advice he received from a former SNL cast member.

The 45-year-old actor is coming back to host the sketch comedy show this Saturday to promote his upcoming film, Project Hail Mary, which is out in theaters on March 20. This will be the fourth time Gosling will host the show, with his most recent stint being in April 2024.

Prior to his upcoming SNL episode, Gosling appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday night, where he spoke about Project Hail Mary, which is based on the popular Andy Weir novel with the same title and follows science teacher Ryland Grace, who discovers he's on a last-chance mission to save Earth and humanity. The La La Land star also reacted to positive reviews of the film and surprised his wife Eva Mendes with a birthday serenade.

One of the questions Fallon asked Gosling towards the beginning of the interview was if he remembers the first time he hosted SNL and if anyone gave him any advice before hosting. Gosling made his SNL hosting debut in December 2015, when he was promoting the crime film The Big Short.

Gosling then explained that Lorne Michaels, the executive producer of SNL, brought on "a huge hero" for the actor, Mike Myers, to the show. Myers, who was on the cast from 1989 to 1995, visited Gosling in his dressing room right before he debuted, sharing advice that original cast member Gilda Radner gave him.

"Right before I went on, [Myers] came into the dressing room, and he poked his head in, and he said, 'I'm going to tell you what Gilda Radner told me on my first day.'" Gosling started off the story. "He said, 'The show is a monster, and it needs to eat every Saturday night, and tonight, it's having you for dinner."

This caused Fallon to laugh, and Gosling concluded, saying that "it kind of feels like that."

Afterward, Gosling spoke about how he always laughs during sketches, for which he has received a lot of criticism in the past. The talk show host then pulled out a photo from the last time he hosted SNL two years ago, where Gosling and cast member Mikey Day played Beavis and Butt-head in a sketch where their characters disrupted a livestream event on AI. Their costumes caused Heidi Gardner, who was playing a news broadcaster, and the whole cast involved to completely break in the middle of the sketch, which went viral online.

Meanwhile, Project Hail Mary will be out in movie theaters nationwide on March 20, and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallonairs live every weekday on NBC at 11:35 pm ET.

Hilary Duff's Riskiest Role: Inside Her Controversial 'Gossip Girl' Appearance

Fri, 03/06/2026 - 2:16pm

From 2001 to 2004, Hilary Duff starred as a teenager struggling to navigate the turbulent middle school years. Just 13 years old when Lizzie McGuire began, like Miley Cyrus and other Disney kids, she found the wholesome image hard to shake. But one role and moment succeeded in making the public see her much differently: Olivia Burke and the infamous threesome scene on Gossip Girl.

The scene involved Penn Badgley's character, Dan, Jessica Szohr's Vanessa, and Olivia. Olivia began rooming with Vanessa after starting school at New York University. Olivia and Dan were dating when Olivia suggested they have a threesome with Vanessa.

The 2009 episode forced Duff's fans to see the actress in a mature new light. It was also so scandalous at the time that the Parents Television Council (PTC) tried to convince stations not to air it.

At the time, Tim Winter, the PTC president, called the scene "reckless and irresponsible."

"Will you now be complicit in establishing a precedent and expectation that teenagers should engage in behaviors heretofore associated primarily with adult films?" Winter wrote to the affiliates who planned to air the episode (via The Hollywood Reporter).

Paul McGuire, a spokesperson for CW, disagreed with the assessment, claiming that the show wasn't aimed at teenagers, and the median age of Gossip Girl viewers was 27 years old.

The episode aired, and Duff admits it's a "standout moment" of her career, despite her parents' shocked reaction. "I remember being like, 'Oh, my mom's going to call me after this one," she told Harper's Bazaar.

Recently, during an appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Duff also revealed that she had known her Gossip Girl co-star, Badgley, long before she played his love interest on the show.

"I grew up with Penn Badgley. I grew up at this apartment complex called Oakwood Apartments," she told Alex Cooper. "And he was a Lakeside kid, but sometimes we would all hang out."

Overseas, her appearance in Gossip Girl is almost more well-known than Lizzy McGuire. "I was in Paris not too long ago, and my bag got lost," she said. "I went up to the lady who worked at the airline, and she's like, 'Are you on Gossip Girl?'"

"Yes," Duff added. "Love that's how you know me."

Pedro Pascal and Rafael Olarra Turn Heads in Mexico Amid Dating Rumors

Fri, 03/06/2026 - 2:15pm

At this point, we're all on Pedro Pascal-Rafael Olarra watch.

Have they posted to Insta? Have they stepped out for another stroll? Are they soft-launching a relationship? Will someone please just give us a morsel of intel?

Friends, today we have another Perafa (eh?) sighting to obsess over.

View this post on Instagram

According to the “curators of pop culture," DeuxMoi, Pascal and Olarra were spotted in Cuidad de Mexico. In a clip posted to the outlet’s Instagram account, The Mandalorianactor and his Faena Hotel creative director buddy can be seen strolling along the sidewalk, Pascal holding up for a sec to wait for this pal.

The Last of Us star looks casual in a baggy cargo pants, a yellow tee, and dark shades, while Olarra sports khaki joggers, a white top, and a leg brace. Though the reason for Olarra’s injury isn’t clear, it could be linked to the fact that he's a triathlete and fitness buff.

DeuxMoi posted the footage yesterday, March 5, following the pair’s affectionate stroll to cap off the month of February. Netflix Renews 'The Night Agent' for Season 4 With One Big Change

Fri, 03/06/2026 - 2:11pm

Netflix has officially renewed the action thriller for a fourth season, with Gabriel Basso set to return in the lead role.

The announcement, confirmed via Netflix's Tudum, arrives hot on the heels of Season 3, which debuted at No. 2 on Netflix's most-watched list with 9.9 million views in its second week alone — following a Season 2 that opened at No. 1 with 13.9 million views in just four days.

Goodbye New York, Hello Los Angeles

While Basso's return is the headliner, the most significant shift behind the scenes is a major production relocation. The Night Agent is moving its filming base from New York to Los Angeles for Season 4.

Sony Pictures Television secured a $31.6 million California tax credit for the move, with the production eyeing approximately 90 days of filming in the state and a total qualifying expenditure of nearly $80 million. It's one of the largest production incentives tied to the show to date, signaling Netflix's continued commitment to the franchise.

Whether the location change will translate on screen, or whether the story will follow Peter to the West Coast, has yet to be revealed.

Where Things Left Off

Season 3 ended with Peter stepping back from active fieldwork, but the door was left wide open for what comes next.

Series creator Shawn Ryan has been clear that the ending was intentional setup, describing it as "a launching pad for Season 4" — specifically teasing a potential new partnership that viewers caught a glimpse of in the finale.

No premiere date has been announced, and no additional cast members have been confirmed at this time. Given that production is ramping up in Los Angeles, a 2027 debut seems likely, though Netflix has not indicated a specific timeline.

The Bigger Picture

Since its Season 1 debut, The Night Agent has grown into one of Netflix's most reliable thriller franchises, landing in the streamer's global top 10 multiple times across its run. With a writers room already at work on Season 4 scripts and a major production investment locked in, the franchise shows no signs of slowing down.

A release date and additional casting news are expected in the months ahead.

'70s Star Proves She’s Still a Legend With Rare Appearance Ahead of 80th Birthday

Fri, 03/06/2026 - 2:05pm

As the GLAAD Awards came to an end, the audience was treated to one final surprise.

Ahead of Liza Minnelli's rare and surprise appearance at the award show, host Jonathan Bennett teased that the guest appearance would not disappoint.

Excited chatter erupted and filled the room as everyone began to wonder which icon would grace the evening with her presence.

When Minnelli finally appeared—surrounded by a chorus of dancers—the moment made it clear that the legendary performer was well worth the wait.

The surprise unfolded in true Broadway fashion, with a musical-style reveal that showed Minnelli seated center stage in a wheeled director’s chair. The 79-year-old dazzled in a sparkling black suit and her signature dark hairstyle, along with a red lip to add a pop of color.

Naturally, the icon received a standing ovation as she was honored for her longtime allyship to the LGBTQ+ community before accepting GLAAD’s first-ever Storyteller Award.

The EGOT winner's longtime friend, Michael Feinstein, moved the crowd with his tribute, stating, "Our stories give us strength. The queer community could not wish for a bigger and more wonderful advocate, friend and ally. The greatest storyteller of all time."

Meanwhile, Minnelli expressed how "proud" she was of the many LGBTQ+ creators and allies in the room, praising their strength and resilience.

“I’m so glad to be with you. You make me so proud, because you’re strong and you stand up for what you believe in. You really do, and it’s so nice to be here with you," she stated before confessing, "I feel like a five-year-old. I didn't make a speech, so now I'm just rattling away."

Fans online were equally as touched by Minnelli's appearance, with one taking to social media to write, "Seeing Liza still bring the house down at 79 hits special, like your favorite aunt showing up to the party and reminding everyone why she's the blueprint. Tears and chills. Queen forever. Take you"

"standing ovation well deserved for a legend like Liza Minnelli," another emphasized, as someone else chimed in, "Standing ovation for Liza Minnelli → proves some stars age like fine wine."

The 37th GLAAD Media Awards also honored Quinta Brunson with the Vanguard Award for her inclusive storytelling on the hit ABC series Abbott Elementary.

Minnelli, who will turn 80 next week, may not be making many public appearances as of late, but she's in the news quite a lot in anticipation of her memoir, Kids, Wait Till You Hear This!, which is set to be published on March 10.

Her milestone birthday was also celebrated during the ceremony. According to The Hollywood Reporter, a birthday cake was brought out following her remarks as the audience serenaded her with “Happy Birthday.”

Minnelli’s appearance also comes amid recent headlines tied to claims in her memoir that Lady Gaga insisted she appear in a wheelchair during an appearance at the 2022 Oscars.

"I was inexplicably ordered — not even asked — to sit in a wheelchair or not appear at all," she wrote. While production reportedly cited safety reasons due to Minnelli’s age, it's a claim the legendary performer has disputed.

Despite being new to Williams Sonoma's shelves, customers are already loading up the reviews section with accolades for Tucci's first foray into creating a pizza oven.

"I love how beautiful this pizza oven is; definitely gets your eye and enhances any space," writes one reviewer. "It is pretty big for the size of pizzas that can be made. The instructions are pretty easy to follow and the pizza came out delicious and had no problems."

Others echo that it's pretty simple to use and still get quality results, even for beginner cooks.

"So I have no experience with pizza ovens and this was very easy to use," they wrote. "The hardest part was getting the pizza into the oven. I used premade fresh pizza dough and floured the pizza peel. My dough still stuck so had to use a spatula to get it onto the stone. That’s probably more on me than it is the equipment. Overall I made two excellent pizzas on first try so excited to see what other pizzas we can come up with!"

If you decide you want to scale your at-home pizza night experience even more, Williams Sonoma also sells a gorgeous GreenPan Stanley Tucci Walnut Pizza Board that's perfect for serving up your delicious creations.

Fri, 03/06/2026 - 1:53pm

Ken Jennings is spilling the tea on Celebrity Jeopardy!

While making an appearance on Live with Kelly and Mark this week, the Jeopardy! host was asked a question that fans have long been wondering about: Are the clues on Celebrity Jeopardy! easier than they are during regular season games?

Are Celebrity Jeopardy! Clues Easier Than Regular Jeopardy?

During his conversation with Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, Jennings insisted that the Celebrity Jeopardy! questions are not made easier or "dumbed down" for celeb competitors.

"Celebrity Jeopardy! is for real Jeopardy!" the host said during the Thursday, March 5 episode of Live. "Our brand is 'smart people knowing smart stuff,' and that’s true even if it's the celebrity version."

Jennings went on to say that celebrities are usually given more difficult clues when it comes to movies or theater, and that the Jeopardy! writers are "never trying to stump" contestants—even if they are famous.

"We know they’re playing for charity," Jennings said, while insisting, "Even in the regular show, we want people to be correct."

"We want somebody to know it, and that’s true of the celebrity shows, but it’s still for real knowledge," he added.

But fans online weren't so convinced of Jennings' response, with several users on Instagram claiming the Celebrity questions are "absolutely easier" than the usual clues.

"Come on Ken," one user wrote, while others said they can tell the Celebrity questions are easier because it's the only time they "actually know the answers" while watching at home.

"Very tactful of Ken lol, celebrity jeopardy is definitely dumbed down 😂" another commenter chimed in. Even former winner W. Kamau Bell left a comment to say, "As a Celebrity Jeopardy! champion, I appreciate Ken’s niceness, but the answer is, 'YES!'"

Who Is Competing on Celebrity Jeopardy! Season 4?

Celebrity Jeopardy will return for Season 4 with a new All-Stars Tournament, featuring appearances by past season winners Ike Barinholtz,Lisa Ann Walter and Bell, plus other celebrities players including  Margaret Cho, Macaulay Culkin, Rachel Dratch, Mark Duplass, Sean Gunn, Mina Kimes, Cynthia Nixon, Katie Nolan, Patton Oswalt, Andy Richter, Mo Rocca, Ray Romano, Tim Simons, Mira Sorvino, Robin Thede, Jackie Tohn, Steven Weber, and Roy Wood Jr.

Hulk Hogan's WrestleMania I Boots Catch Record-Breaking Price Tag At Auction

Fri, 03/06/2026 - 1:51pm

Roughly eight months after his death, Hulk Hogan's iconic WrestleMania I boots has officially sold at auction. According to Sports Collectors Digest, the famed footwear caught a whopping $1,037,000 through a Heritage Auctions' event held at the Winter Platinum Night Sports Auction.

The boots were famously worn by the legendary pro wrestler at the inaugural WWE WrestleMania held in Madison Square Garden, New York City back on May 31, 1985. While Hogan himself added an autograph to the boots, the boots also featuring a unique inscription from the Hulkster, ”These are my real boots with my real blood on them from MSG, Hulk Hogan.”

At its massive price tag, Hogan's boots have officially become the highest-price piece of wrestling memorabilia ever sold at auction, as well as the first item to ever catch more than $1 million. Previously, the boots were sold for $66,000 in 2023, two years before Hogan's death at 71-years-old from a fatal heart attack.

Of course, the recently sold boots remain an integral part of wrestling history for a few key reasons. Not only were they worn at the first-ever flagship pay-per-view for the WWE, they also feature the distinct bright yellow design associated with the late great wrestling legend.

In the main event of WrestleMania I, Hogan donned the shoes in a high-stakes tag team match against Paul Orndorff and "Rowdy" Roddy Piper. At the show, Hogan partnered with Hollywood celebrity Mr. T., with boxing star Muhammad Ali and wrestler Pat Patterson serving as special guest referees.

Though the show itself is seldom remembered by fans today, especially when compared to its far more well-known follow-up shows like WrestleMania III, the event marked a serious turning point in both Hogan's career and the larger trajectory of WWE.

Today, WrestleMania remains a cornerstone of WWE's programming, with the company currently set to produce WrestleMania 42 this coming April.

'I’m a Cardiologist—Here Are My 3 Favorite Heart-Healthy Snacks That Require Minimal Prep'

Fri, 03/06/2026 - 1:25pm

Snacking gets a bad rap. More time and energy are spent on making full meals, but snacks are expected to be readily available and quick to make, often leading to unhealthy choices.

Most people don’t think about what they want to snack on until they’re already hungry, and scientific research shows that we tend to make unhealthier food choices when we’re at that point. Boredom is another feeling that leads to unhealthier food choices, according to scientific research. In one series of lab experiments, adults who watched a boring video were significantly more likely to consume high-fat, high-sugar snacks than those who watched a more exciting video.

In both instances, ultraprocessed, nutrient-void snacks like chips and candy are popular snack choices. Want to avoid falling into the chips and candy trap? The key is to have snacks on hand that are just as easy to eat as junk food.

“I recommend snacking on whole-food ingredients like nuts, fruits and vegetables as go-to options,” says Dr. Colin Zhu, DO, FACLM, a cardiologist and chef. “The key is to avoid ultra-processed foods, which are often high in refined processed calories, fat, salt and sugar."

What exactly does that look like? Here, Dr. Zhu shares some general tips to keep in mind when choosing snacks that support your heart as well as his three favorite go-tos. None of them requires any prep or cooking whatsoever.

General Tips To Keep in Mind When Deciding What to Snack On

Glasshouse Images/Getty Images

If you want a snack that will support your entire body, including your heart, Dr. Zhu says to make it yourself rather than buy something ultraprocessed. “Homemade snacks are more nutrient-dense, free from unnecessary additives and allow you to control fiber, fats and minerals while still enjoying the flavors you love."

For example, instead of buying a box of protein bars, find a recipe online and make a batch at home to have on hand when hunger (or boredom) strikes. That way, you can control all the ingredients. It’s sure to be healthier than ultraprocessed protein bars with a lengthy ingredients list.

It’s also helpful to remember that your main source of energy should still be your meals. If you find that you’re consistently hungry between meals, that’s a sign that your meals may not be nutrient-rich enough. “Snacking is only necessary if we do not get full nourishment and nutrition from our main meals, because then the body will crave something else,” Dr. Zhu says.

When it comes to deciding what to eat at both meals and snack time, think about what the foods bring to the table nutritionally, not just taste-wise. “Consuming a variety and diversity of foods helps provide minerals such as iron and magnesium, vitamins like A and C, and soluble and insoluble fiber, which keeps you satiated,” Dr. Zhu explains. This will lead to your meals and snacks actually filling you up versus eating nutrient-void foods that are sure to leave you hungry soon after eating.

To support your heart through your snack choices, Dr. Zhu says that focusing on whole, minimally processed foods and avoiding added oils, salt and sugar goes a long way. “Include fiber, protein and healthy fats to keep you full between meals and aim for variety to get a wide range of nutrients that support heart health,” he explains.

3 Heart-Healthy Snacks That Require Minimal Prep

With all this in mind, Dr. Zhu has three heart-healthy snacks he loves and recommends to anyone who wants a quick nosh that will support their body.

1. Homemade salsa or guacamole with veggies

Chips and salsa are one of those snacks that’s super easy to overeat. One reason why is that it lacks fiber, one of the nutrients Dr. Zhu pointed out as being satiating. When he’s craving something savory to munch on, Dr. Zhu likes snacking on homemade salsa or guacamole, using veggies like sliced red peppers for dipping.

The avocados used to make guacamole are a great source of unsaturated fats, which support heart health by lowering LDL cholesterol. Dr. Zhu points out that they are also satiating and good for blood sugar control, which is also important for heart health.

Pairing your salsa or guac with veggies instead of chips provides fiber, a nutrient that’s crucial for heart health. Scientific research shows that fiber helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Related: The Heart-Healthy Habit Cardiologists Say Most People Quit Way Too Soon

2. Unsalted nuts

Unsalted nuts are another snack that Dr. Zhu says is great for heart health. No matter what type of nut you choose, he explains that it provides unsaturated fats, fiber and minerals—a nutrient-rich combination you won’t find in most ultraprocessed snacks. He adds that these nutrients also support cholesterol balance, help with blood sugar control and provide satiety.

Have a little more time? Roast nuts in the oven with olive oil and your favorite herbs and spices. This is not only a salt-free way to make them taste more flavorful; it also ups the antioxidants in your snack, which support heart health.

3. Dates, dark chocolate and dried fruit

Have a sweet tooth? Dr. Zhu says that dates, dark chocolate and dried fruit are all heart-healthy ways to satisfy your craving, whether you have just one of them or enjoy them all together. “These snacks provide fiber, healthy fats and essential minerals,” he explains, adding that they satisfy sweet cravings without added sugar or preservatives.

Dates and dried fruit are great sources of fiber, while dark chocolate is high in antioxidants—both nutrients that majorly support heart health.

As you can see, snacking doesn’t have to be a pitfall; it just depends on what you’re reaching for. Having healthy snack options like the foods Dr. Zhu recommends will make supporting your heart through your snacks easy. And you won’t be sacrificing taste either!

Massive Frozen Food Recall Expands—Trader Joe's, Costco and More Stores Affected

Fri, 03/06/2026 - 1:25pm

A major frozen food recall has expanded, adding millions of additional pounds of products sold at popular grocery stores nationwide. The update significantly increases the number of items shoppers should check in their freezers, including several well-known brands and retailer labels.

The recall is tied to frozen fried rice, ramen and dumpling products that may contain foreign material, specifically glass. The expansion brings the total amount of product subject to the recall to nearly 37 million pounds, according to federal officials.

What Products Are Included in the Recall

Trader Joe's

The recall now covers a wide range of frozen meals sold under brand names including Ajinomoto, Trader Joe's, Ling Ling, Tai Pei and Kroger. Many of these items were distributed to major retailers such as Trader Joe's and Costco, with additional products sold at other grocery chains nationwide, including Kroger, Walmart and Sam's Club.

Some of the most notable items include:

  • Trader Joe's Chicken Fried Rice
  • Trader Joe's Chicken Shu Mai
  • Ajinomoto Tokyo-Style Shoyu Ramen With Chicken
  • Ajinomoto Japanese-Style Yakitori Chicken Fried Rice
  • Ajinomoto Kurobuta Pork Fried Rice
  • Ling Ling Yakitori Chicken Fried Rice
  • Ling Ling Shoyu and Tonkotsu Chicken Ramen
  • Tai Pei Chicken Fried Rice
  • Tai Pei Ultimate Fried Rice
  • Kroger Chinese Inspirations Chicken Fried Rice

The products were manufactured over an extended production period and include multiple best-by dates, meaning shoppers may still have affected items in their freezers.

The issue was identified after consumer complaints reported finding glass in some products. While no injuries have been confirmed, officials are urging customers not to eat any items included in the recall.

What Shoppers Should Do Now

If you have purchased frozen fried rice, ramen or dumplings recently from Trader Joe's, Costco or other major grocery stores, check your freezer carefully.

Consumers are advised not to consume any recalled products. Instead, throw them away or return them to the place of purchase for a refund. Retailers are expected to remove affected items from shelves, but officials note that some products may still be in homes.

For full details, shoppers can review the complete product list and lot numbers through federal recall announcements. Because of the volume of items involved, checking the best-by date and establishment number on the packaging is especially important.

There have been no confirmed injuries linked to this recall at this time. However, consumers who believe they may have been affected or who have concerns about potential injury should contact a healthcare provider.

Pixar’s Bonkers ‘Avatar Meets Studio Ghibli’ Remix Its First No-Notes Hit in Almost 10 Years

Fri, 03/06/2026 - 1:23pm

The reviews are in, and Hoppers is a leap way forward for Pixar.

Not only is the latest from Disney’s premier animation studio an early box-office smash, raking in $3.2 million in preview screenings alone, per Deadline, but it’s a bona fide success with critics and fans alike.

According to Rotten Tomatoes, fans are raving, calling it “great,” “phenomenal,” “hilarious,” and “the best animated movie me or my family has seen in a very long time.” Meanwhile, critics are hailing it as “delightfully unhinged,” “bonkers,” “dam good,” “delightful,” and “Pixar’s freshest, funniest movie in years.”

More than just a goofy talking-animal flick, Hoppers tackles lofty themes as its protagonist, Mabel (voiced by Piper Curda), “hops” into a lifelike robotic beaver, giving humans the inside scoop on what animals are actually thinking and doing. From climate change and environmental stewardship, to coexisting with nature and unity in teamwork, Daniel Chong’s debut is "hopping" with big ideas.

Behind the scenes, the film offers interesting tidbits as well. After springing to life a viral crash-out meme, with Tom the Lizard making his debut in the post-credits scene of Elio, Chong found his Mabel on TikTok, inspiration via robotic wildlife research, and a way to create 413 seagulls to lift a shark out of the water, resulting in a heady mix of internet culture, animal science, and Pixar imagination right out of the gate.

Told through the optimistic viewpiont of King George (voiced by Bobby Moynihan), a bumbling beaver who loves’80s rock, Hoppers might remind you of another animal kingdom gem, The Lion King. But where age-old classic Disney offered viewers an idyllic circle of life with nature’s fury handled off the screen, Hoppers brings the violent truth front and center. Fish are devoured in a single gulp, a beaver narrowly escapes a grizzly, and an adorable worm is turned to tum-tum chum right in front of your kiddo's eyes.

Once you understand the cinematic influences Chong had in mind, that choice starts to make a lot more sense.

"We're very upfront with the Avatar reference," Chong told GamesRadar in an exclusive interview. "But the real, actual inspiration came from these nature documentaries, where they put robot animals into nature, and they have cameras in their eyes, and they're basically trying to give us an inside look at how animals behave without a human there. It's really fun.”

He adds that he took design inspiration from Studio Ghibli’s Pom Poko, borrowing the film’s visuals to add comedic effect to the expressions of the pond’s creatures.

1987 Classic That Instantly Became a No. 1 Hit Released 39 Years Ago Today

Fri, 03/06/2026 - 1:19pm

On March 6, 1987, audiences were introduced to one of the most iconic action duos in movie history when Lethal Weapon hit theaters. Nearly four decades later, the explosive buddy-cop thriller still stands as one of the defining films of the 1980s—and the movie that launched a blockbuster franchise.

Directed by Richard Donner and written by Shane Black, the film paired two very different detectives: reckless loose cannon Martin Riggs and seasoned family man Roger Murtaugh. The characters were brought to life by Mel Gibson and Danny Glover, whose chemistry quickly became the heart of the movie (and the reason fans still quote the film decades later).

A Box Office Smash Hit Right Out of the Gate: 3 Weeks at No. 1

Lethal Weapon didn’t just become a cultural favorite—it was also a major box-office success. The film opened at No. 1 during its debut weekend in March 1987, earning about $6.8 million and beating out strong competition like A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors and the Oscar-winning war drama Platoon.

Even more impressive, the film held onto the No. 1 spot for three consecutive weeks, proving its staying power with audiences before eventually being bumped by the Bruce Willis and Kim Basinger-led romantic comedyBlind Date. By the end of its theatrical run, the now-cult-classic had grossed more than $120 million worldwide, becoming one of the biggest hits of 1987 and spending 13 weeks in the domestic Top 10, per Mental Floss.

It was nominated for an Academy Award in 1988, and won three NAACP Awards, a Golden Reel Award, and a BMI Film Music Award, according to IMDb.

Redefining the Buddy-Cop Genre

While action movies were already popular in the 1980s, Lethal Weapon helped redefine the buddy-cop formula. Riggs—a volatile detective grieving the loss of his wife—and Murtaugh—a veteran cop counting down to retirement—formed an unlikely partnership that balanced explosive action with humor and emotional depth. The film’s success led to three sequels released in 1989, 1992, and 1998, turning the series into one of Hollywood’s most successful action franchises to date.

"It is widely considered to be one of the best buddy cop films of all time, influencing numerous 'buddy cop' films such as Hot Fuzz, Tango & Cash, Bad Boys, and the Rush Hour series," a social media post acknowledged.

In the Heat of the Night was based on the 1967 movie of the same name, starring Sidney Poitier and Rod Steiger, and the 1965 book by John Ball.

Two decades later, O’Connor and Howard Rollins helped make the cop drama one of the biggest hits of the '80s. The In the Heat of the Night TV show also starred Alan Autry,Anne-Marie Johnson, and O’Connor’s son, Hugh O'Connor.

The series focused on the fictional town of Sparta, Mississippi, and the rocky relationship between Police Chief Bill Gillespie, played by O’Connor, and Black Chief of Detectives Virgil Tibbs, played by Rollins. It kicked off with Tibbs returning home to Sparta to work alongside a very racist police force. In the Heat of the Night played on the racial divide and tensions in the South.

In the Heat of the Night was praised for how it portrayed racial relations, telling progressive stories that didn’t shy away from the truth. The show ran for five seasons on NBC before it was cancelled, allegedly due to low ratings and an older demographic tuning in.

However, online reports have revealed behind-the-scenes drama between O’Connor and NBC, which could have led to the show's cancellation. When NBC dropped In the Heat of the Night, CBS picked it up, where it ran for three more seasons. O’Connor reported playing a significant role in getting the show on CBS.

The final episode of In the Heat of the Night aired on May 16, 1995, and to this day, it is considered one of the best police dramas of that era. Those looking to watch the series or rewatch it can do so on Pluto TV, Sling TV, or Amazon Prime.
