One of Beyond the Gates newest cast members, Monique Mosee, took to social media to reassure fans that her time on the series in continuing, confirming that she is still actively filming.

Mosee who plays Darlene Hawthorne, the wife of Police Chief Elon Hawthorne (Malachi Malik) and mother to Jacob (Jibre Hordges) and Izaiah (Lami), posted a video outside of the studio, telling fans, “Just leaving the studio. Great day at the studio, great place to work. Beyond the Gates don’t miss it.”

Darlene quickly became part of the drama in Fairmont Crest upon her arrival on screen. Her son, Jacob, is currently on an undercover assignment to take down an illegal plasma farming operation in the area, a mission that has pulled him away from his family and recently left him injured after a violent encounter.

Meanwhile, her other son, Izaiah, has begun a relationship with Eva Thomas (Ambyr Michelle), the daughter of Leslie Thomas (Trisha Mann-Grant), a character with a questionable reputation. Since her debut, Darlene has been outspoken about the women in her sons’ lives.

Mosee’s first scenes aired on March 26, 2026 and quickly became a fan favorite. “Darlene versus Leslie is peak soap!” wrote one user on X (formerly Twitter). Another user added how Darlene appears to be speaking for the viewers, writing, “So Darlene is basically the people in the #BeyondTheGates comments sections.”

Fans are also looking forward to seeing some further interactions between the Hawthorne family, with one user writing, “The Hawthorne brothers are some lover boys. This makes me want to see how Elon is with Darlene. Because that's probably the only time you'll ever see that man being soft. #BeyondTheGates”

Rising country star Drake White is opening up about the nightmare he suffered in 2019 when he had a hemorrhagic stroke onstage.

White, 42, known for songs like "Makin' Me Look Good Again" and "Power of a Woman," opened up about how he had just taken the stage at a concert in Roanoke, Virginia, before 2,500 guests, when he felt his left arm and fingers tingle and go numb.

"And then I heard a, I call it a gunshot. It literally sounded like an audible gunshot behind my left ear. And when it snapped, if you look at the video back, you can see me trying to push through it," White told Fox News Digital in a revealing new interview. "Everything flipped upside down... Everything slowed way down, and it just felt like I was walking in quicksand, and everything was heavy. My left arm was heavy, my left foot was heavy, and I knew right then, I was like, 'Well, dang, I'm having a stroke.'"

While White had already been diagnosed with a rare brain condition called arteriovenous malformation (AVM) and underwent four surgeries, he had been told the percentage of a rupture was less than 1%. However, that 1% happened.

"They told me, if it ruptures, that you would have a very good chance of, you know, death," he told the publication. "Death was kind of it. And so I just remember, keep breathing and keep praying and just keep, keep, breathing and get me to the hospital."

White said he had a significant "near-death experience," which "humbled me down to my knees. I realized that rock bottom had a basement. It really got me to a spot where I didn't know if I was gonna survive. And I just remember, keep breathing, keep rocking, and keep going."

While White was left paralyzed on his left side, he also faced an uphill battle mentally.

"The doctors came in and told me that I'd had a hemorrhagic stroke and that I had a long road ahead of me," he continued. "And that I would be lucky, they didn't say this, but I heard them murmuring that I'll be lucky to walk again, much less get back on stage."

Through hard work, dedication to his faith, and an electrical stimulation device developed by Bioness Medical that has helped him regain control of his left side, White has found his way.

Back in February, the music man opened up about how he continues to work on his recovery. In an Instagram post, he spoke about brushing his teeth with his non-dominant hand to motivate the other side of his brain.

"Did you know brushing your teeth using your non-dominant hand helps wake up parts of your brain you didn’t know you had? After my stroke, I was paralyzed on my left side and set out to find all of the things that could help me return to the best version of myself. Why? Because when you force your brain to do something unfamiliar, it wakes up dormant pathways and builds new ones. It’s called neuroplasticity. Small tasks such as brushing your teeth or opening a door with my left hand literally help rebuild and heal my brain," he shared.

It may have been the best-kept secret of the upcoming fall season when CBS announced it was adding a new NCIS series to the franchise. NCIS: New York will see the return of LL Cool J reprising his role as Sam Hanna, which he played on NCIS: Los Angeles for 14 seasons.

But first, he is going to guest star on two episodes of the mothership, beginning tonight with the “Reboot” episode, in which Kasie (Diona Reasonover) and a skeleton crew are left in the darkened NCIS building in which the mainframe has been shut down for a midnight upgrade, when someone begins hunting from inside. What starts as a routine reboot becomes a high-stakes game of cat and mouse through powerless hallways until an unexpected ally, Sam Hanna, steps into the fight.

“The episode will involve Kasie in a big way,” showrunner Steven D. Binder exclusively tells Parade at the CBS Fest on the Paramount lot. “The character who embodies technology also has a human side to her, as Abbey (Pauley Perrette) did. In this episode, you see those two things in conflict: A lot of action and a lot of fun.”

Parade also spoke with LL Cool J about his appearance on tonight’s episode of NCIS, in which Sam explains that the death of Director Vance (Rocky Carroll) has him doing some serious thinking, and that may be what leads him to move to the New York field office.

“There will be a little bit of a tease of that, just enough,” he says. “You’ll feel it.”

That said, New York City Sam will be very much the same Sam as we’ve watched over the years.

“Sam Hanna is Sam Hanna, but the thing that's different is the context,” LL Cool J explains. “You're going to be surrounded with New York energy, put him in a New York environment with the New York electricity and you get a different guy. It's like 1 + 3 is four, and 5 − 1 is 4, and 3 + 1 is 4, but it's still 4, so you're still going to have Sam, just in a different situation.”

Nothing has been filmed yet, in fact the show is still casting the rest of the team, but it was also announced that the other major player will be Scott Caan, who LL Cool J worked with years back on the NCIS: Los Angeles and Hawaii Five-0 crossover event. He won’t be playing Danny “Danno” Williams, but a new character.

“We’re still in the process of casting everybody,” LL Cool J says. “We're getting it together, bringing the team together. We’ve got some good names on the list.”

The two-time Grammy Award winner is also happy that the series will be filmed in his native New York.

“I get to go coast to coast,” he says. “I get to go back home. I'm from New York, born and raised. For me, what's better than going home?”

On April 21, the Trader Joe's Obsessed page gushed, "Finally, finally, the lemon sheet cake is back. This one is so good."

The content creator noted that they "love adding some fresh lemon zest on top. It's amazing."

Fans immediately began celebrating in the comments.

One Instagram user wrote, "They were playing games this year. Had us waiting forever!"

Another added, simply, "FINALLY!!!!!"

Someone else admitted, "Was wondering if this was coming back or not!"

The cake's return for 2026 is seemingly so new that it hasn't been added back to Trader Joe's website in the "Sweet Stuff" section yet.

In 2025, a thread in the Trader Joe's subreddit indicated the lemon mini sheet cake was back in stores around March 11. In 2024, it was spotted even earlier, with Reddit buzzing about it beginning on March 5.

In late March of this year, disappointed customers took to Reddit to commiserate on the missing lemon sheet cake.

One Reddit user commented, "Any lemon sheet cake spotting?!? Today is my birthday, and I was really hoping to find one when I go today. I've been wanting it for a month."

Another Reddit user, who is seemingly a Trader Joe's crew member, commented that the cakes would return the week of April 20. Sure enough, they are finally beginning to be spotted in stores again.

Trader Joe's customers who love the lemon mini sheet cake may want to stock up once they get their hands on them. Fans say they freeze well, and they are prone to sell out quickly.

If you've been to the gas station or grocery store lately, you may not be at all surprised about the new warning coming from Goldman Sachs, which says that consumer spending is likely to drop due to rising costs.

The financial powerhouse shared the new warning today, telling the powers that be that previous predictions about a stable year of spending for Americans are likely no longer in the cards, thanks to rising costs. The messy fighting between the U.S. and Iran seems to be spilling onto U.S. soil through higher prices, according to Goldman Sachs. Strategist Ronnie Walker talked about the issue in a statement seen on Yahoo! Finance, writing, "What originally appeared to be a solid year for consumer spending has quickly become more challenging. ... We expect weak real consumption growth over the coming months."

That's because pain at the pump is forcing many Americans to cut back on spending to afford essentials, as Walker says gas prices have increased by almost 40 percent since the conflict began.

"Higher gasoline prices disproportionately weigh on the spending of households in the lowest income quintile—who spend roughly four times as much on gasoline as a share of after-tax income compared with those in the top quintile—and spending on discretionary categories, such as restaurants," he continued. In short, those who were already living paycheck to paycheck are now struggling harder than they were before...and it may have a major impact on the economy.

According to CNBC, prices have gone up on several key categories this year, including but not limited to:

• Food
• Gas
• Electricity
• Clothes
• Housing costs
• Motor vehicle maintenance and repair
• Airline tickets

I know I have been worried about what the financial future looks like for my family because of this, and apparently, I'm not alone. According to Yahoo!, the University of Michigan's Consumer Sentiment Index showed a massive drop in consumer confidence in April. In fact, the number fell to a new low, hitting just 47.6. That's an 11 percent drop from March, bringing the index to the lowest point in its 74-year history.

Yes, that means it dropped even lower than it was during the 2008 and 1980s, when financial crises and inflation (respectively) shook the U.S. economy. According to Yahoo!, this belt-tightening is likely to be seen across all groups, including political parties and income levels, perhaps hinting at a much bigger problem to come.

It’s the father-daughter moment we never realized we needed. Today’sJenna Bush Hager recently sat down with her dad, former President George W. Bush, to talk about family, the future, and America’s 250th birthday.

Bush (that is, George W.) wasn’t the only past president to open up during this interview. The anchor also spoke with Joe Biden, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama. But it was the familial connection between the two Bushes that took this particular interview to the next level.

The Today host started with an all-too-common scenario, saying, “Family members can’t sit across from one another and debate.” Of course, her father disagreed, noting, “We can.” Jenna jumped in with, “And we have.” If only we could be a fly on the wall of that family conversation!

With Ametrica’s 250th birthday coming up this summer, Bush Hager continues the discussion, asking her dad, “What can help us bring us back to each other?”

Former POTUS Bush explains, “One of the things about the 250th is it gives us the chance to focus on the common good and the wonders of this country. The history of this country.” He continues, “I am not concerned about the long-term health of our country. Because I’ve studied enough history to know that we’ve been through periods of intense anger and intense rivalry of ideas. But the beauty of democracy, Jen, is that it’s self-correcting. 

Bush also adds, “I’m going to encourage citizens to participate in the process and if you don’t like what’s going on…vote.” 

Political observers have their view of Bush. But he’s a person just like the rest of us. And with that in mind, the former president talks candidly about opening up to others with different views.

Bush recounts a time when he handed former FLOTUS Michelle Obama an Altoid during a public event. While he really didn’t see the big deal in his seemingly small action, the former president ended up trending. 

Unsure as to why anyone cared that he handed Obama a mint, he explains. “And it turns out the country is starved to see a white center republican and an African American center left democrat having fun and being able to converse, not as political figures but as citizens. And I intend to continue to try to do that.” 

What do Bush fans (and maybe some former foes) think of the interview? Today posted a clip to Instagram, and people have a lot to say about the former president. One commenter wrote, “Never thought I’d say it…but I actually miss President Bush, he’s so funny,” and another chimed in with, “I listened to him speak at a conference, and I will say it was amazing to listen to him. He spoke about his dad and mom, his wife and children, and it was so inspirational. He has a great sense of humor.”

Bush (this time Bush Hager) concludes the interview by asking each of the former presidents what their message to Americans is on the almost-eve of the country’s 250th birthday. Her father shares, “My message is to consider yourself fortunate to be a part of a great nation. Study our history so you have a better sense of what the future will be like. And be a citizen, not a spectator. And by that I mean participate in the process and also love a neighbor like you would love yourself.” Now that’s some sage advice to follow!

During AnnaWintour’s visit to the set of The Devil Wears Prada 2, she was not shy to voice her opinion. She shared a very specific critique that ultimately changed the film. 

The upcoming sequel's director, DavidFrankel, and screenwriter, AlineBroshMcKenna, spoke with AmyOdell for the Back Row podcast on April 17. They revealed what transpired during the fashion mogul’s production visit.

The former Vogue editor-in-chief came by the set during a scene in the Dior offices where the character Emily (Emily Blunt) works. McKenna heard Wintour criticize the quantity and color of the flowers, sharing that Dior would only have white flowers. 

“I came running out, and I was like, ‘Dude, kill the flowers,’” said McKenna. The prop team swapped the large pink and white floral display for a single vase of white flowers. 

Wintour’s set visit was an exciting embrace of the film. Both the former editor and ​​Condé Nast kept a notable distance from the 2006 release of The Devil Wears Prada.

Not everyone in the fashion world was apprehensive about getting involved. The first movie included cameos from models GiseleBündchen, designer ValentinoGaravani, and fashion journalist RobertVerdi. There is quite a bit of buzz surrounding who might appear in the much-anticipated sequel.

For now, we know who won’t be in the film. Wintour’s visit did not include time behind the camera. 

“That felt too meta to us to put her in the movie,” said Frankel.

“The movie is celebrating fashion. And so many people have been inspired to work in fashion and in media because of the movie,” she said. “To me, both movies are a celebration of her ambition for excellence."

Prince's estate released a new single to mark the 10th anniversary of the iconic singer's death.

"Recorded in 1991 at Paisley Park and newly mixed by Chris James, this track finds Prince in full command, writing, producing, and performing every note," the late artist's official Instagram account explained.

The song, titled "With This Tear," was previously recorded and released by Celine Dion in 1997.

"'With This Tear' was a gift from Prince that I will always treasure," Dion shared via Instagram after news of its release. "I have carried this song with me for so many years. To now hear his version, shared for the very first time, feels truly special."

Prince — born Prince Rogers Nelson — was found unresponsive and pronounced dead on April 21, 2016, at his home at Paisley Park. It was later ruled that he had died of an accidental overdose.

The "Purple Rain" artist was an icon of the 1980s. His remained at the top of the charts in the following decades, with hits such as "When Doves Cry," "Little Red Corvette," "Nothing Compares 2 U," and "Raspberry Beret."

He was nominated for 32 Grammy Awards throughout his career and took home 7 statuettes. He was later honored with a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award in 2025 and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame for Purple Rain, 1999, and Sign o' The Times.

He was just 57 at the time of his death.

Forty-eight years ago, the iconic '70s actress and singer Barbra Streisand and singer-songwriter Neil Diamond topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart with their heartbreak duet, "You Don't Bring Me Flowers."

Released in 1978, the track was featured as the lead single and title track for Diamond's 12th studio album and was also included on Streisand's Greatest Hits Vol. 2. "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" was a massive success, climbing up the Billboard Hot 100 and peaking at No. 1 for two consecutive weeks.

The chart-topping duet was brought to life after radio DJs began creating mashups of Diamond's and Streisand's solo renditions of the song by splicing them together. Due to significant listener demand, the pair was inspired to re-record the track together, creating the iconic duet version we know today.

Fleetwood Mac’s glittery pop-rock hit “Everywhere” is, well, everywhere again. 

Released in 1987 on the band’s first album in five years,Tango in the Night, the track was a massive success, peaking at No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 and hitting No. 1 on the Adult Contemporary chart, following another Tango track, “Little Lies.” Now, nearly 40 years later, that legacy is now a brand-new chart milestone.

Per Billboard, Christine McVie’s pop-rock gem about pure, uncomplicated love debuted this week on the Global 200. This marks the group’s first hit from the 1980s to debut on the chart, a feat three of their 1970s tracks have accomplished. And that resurgence isn’t happening by accident.

Breaking in at No. 188 with nearly 10 million streams worldwide, the song has been featured in advertisements, likely boosting its profile and streaming resurgence in recent years. It’s also been finding new life with younger audiences, thanks in part to social media posts soundtracked with the hit. 

Part of what’s fueling the track’s staying power is its sound, which was crafted with meticulous studio detail. Written by McVie, who also sings its lead vocals, the track was co-produced by Lindsey Buckingham, who crafted the track’s signature shimmering intro.

Per American Songwriter, the producer created the twinkling sound from a pair of guitars equipped with effects.  

Lyrically, the song likely borrows from real life. At the time, McVie was getting ready to marry composer Eddy Quintela, with AS reporting that McVie drew from her own love story as inspiration for the song. 

The track’s success was part of a larger story for the album. Though Tango in the Night took 18 months to finish, due to scheduling conflicts and solo careers, it produced four hit singles, including "Everywhere." 

“Everywhere” isn’t Fleetwood Mac’s only hit seeing renewed attention. Since Billboard launched the Global 200 in 2020, the band has charted four of their iconic songs. The other three are “Dreams,”“Landslide,” and “The Chain.”

There isn't a corner of the world that AI hasn't touched. At a breakneck pace, AI has weaseled its way into our jobs, homes, natural resources, and schools. While it can be an incredibly powerful tool, many folks are putting their entire trust in it without even considering the potential repercussions.

And if you think it's only a certain type of person succumbing to this way of thinking, you'd be dead wrong. Recently, The New York Times reported that AI convinced a 75-year-old neuroscientist, Joe Riley, that his doctors were wrong about his chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) diagnosis and that his treatment was only designed to prolong his illness. He apparently came to these conclusions by regularly querying Perplexity and other chatbots. As someone who lived with a chronic illness, he was relatively wary of the medical system and felt that conversing with AI could help solve his problems.

Ultimately, Joe essentially diagnosed himself with Richter’s Transformation, which the outlet describes as "a rare complication that occurs when a relatively docile cancer abruptly evolves into a more aggressive, punishing one." He even believed that the treatment recommended by his doctors would not only exacerbate his supposed Richter’s Syndrome but shorten his life expectancy. His oncologist, Dr. Marzbani, was perplexed by this diagnosis, as he really didn't see any of the symptoms Richter’s produces.

They got stuck in a cycle of arguing over it, where the doctor would explain all the reasons why he didn't believe Joe had the condition and urged him to undergo the treatment that would give him more time, which he desperately wanted with his friends and family. Still, Joe could not be convinced.

Much to the dismay of his family, Joe waited a year after his diagnosis to finally accept treatment, and by then the damage was already done: Joe died due to complications from CLL.

"I don’t think AI killed my father," clarified Joe's son Ben Riley in a moving piece he wrote on the experience of losing his dad in Cognitive Resonance. "I think it’s possible, perhaps even likely, that in a world without AI, he would still have latched on to some other piece of research to support his disposition against medical treatment, as he had deep misgivings—fear, really—about spending time in hospitals. Nonetheless, the fact remains that AI does exist in our world, and just as it can serve as fuel to those suffering manic psychosis, so too may it affirm or amplify our mistaken understanding of what’s happening to us physically and medically."

Doctors agree: AI should be used as a tool, not the final say in a patient's treatment.

"There are so many AI sources and search engines out there that all get information from different sources and are not vetted by physicians who specialize in those specific health topics," Dr. Jeffrey Velotta, a thoracic surgeon at Kaiser Permanente Northern California and expert contributor for The Mesothelioma Center at Asbestos.com, tells Parade. "They are often too generalized and over-simplified or flat-out inaccurate. So I would be very hesitant to rely on any AI. Patients may feel reassured by a confident-sounding answer, but that confidence isn't backed by the clinical training or specialized expertise a physician brings to the table. AI can help you think about things to discuss with your doctor, but NOT replace your doctor at all!"

Doctors are also seeing how patients use AI as part of their examinations can be both useful and harmful.

"The greatest issue we have with AI in the use of outpatient medicine is not knowing how to prompt correctly," Dr. Nasser Mohammed, a Board Certified Family Physician with Osra Medical, warns Parade. "The answer you get depends heavily on what you ask and how you ask it. For example, I had a patient come in immediately asking for hemorrhoid cream and wanting to bypass the rest of the visit. They reached this conclusion after using AI to self-diagnose. Instead of starting with rectal pain as the main problem to solve for, they prompted AI with 'is it a hemorrhoid,' resulting in biased and pre-selected questions. It turns out, they actually had a rectal abscess that needed to be drained. This issue is not only a limitation with the average patient but also with the average clinician. The way you prompt AI is a different way of thinking, and we need to be careful about how we ask our questions."

It isn't all doom and gloom for doctors, though. Many of them see the potential benefits it offers in facilitating a unique relationship between patient and physician that is far more thorough and interactive.

"The positives are that the patient is already coming in with a very thorough history-- something I really appreciate," Dr. Carmen Fong, colorectal surgeon and Chief Medical Officer at Bummed, tells Parade. "Rather than sitting on the exam room table answering, I don't know, or I'm not sure, or Let me look it up on my phone, they've already thought through the history and the timeline and put it into ChatGPT. This helps make for a concise, problem-oriented visit and not 45 minutes of fact-finding. Of course, our conversation may diverge into variables or symptoms that I find more pertinent, but that 1 page summary is a good start. It helps the patient-and physician spend more quality time on the problem."

The key to peacefully coexisting with AI is to treat it with a healthy dose of skepticism and not follow it blindly wherever it leads.

Reese Witherspoonis addressing backlash regarding her recent comments about AI use.

On Thursday, April 16, Witherspoon shared a video on Instagram where she said she thinks women should use AI in their every day lives. “The AI revolution has begun, and I need to learn as much as I possibly can about AI and share it with all of you,” she wrote in the caption.

Witherspoon received backlash for her thoughts on AI use and took to her Instagram story on Monday, April 20 to address the criticism.

"Well, I guess my Al post got people talking,” she began.  “To be clear, no one is paying me to talk about this. I'm just a curious human. My kids are learning about AI tools, I know a lot of founders who are vibe coding, and I hear about people using AI in EVERY sector of business."

She continued, "But I want to acknowledge people's concerns, they are valid. I'm aware of the impact this could have on jobs across so many industries. I understand environmental concerns. I care deeply about local communities. And I have concerns about impending AGI [Artificial General Intelligence]."

Witherspoon concluded the Instagram story with, "I don't believe computers should replace humanity. I'm planning on learning as much as possible so that I'm educated about this technological revolution. If you want to learn with me, great, let's do this! If you don't, that's okay too."

Witherspoon had shared similar sentiments about women and AI use in a Sept. 2025 interview with Glamour.

“It's so, so important that women are involved in AI because it will be the future of filmmaking,” she said at the time. And you can be sad and lament it all you want, but the change is here. It will never be a lack of creativity and ingenuity and actual physical manual building of things. It might diminish, but it's always going to be the highest importance in art and in expression of self.”

Throughout the history of cinema, there have been plenty of acclaimed science fiction films that have elicited excitement and the hope for a better tomorrow. The publication Collider recently released a list of the "10 most universally beloved sci-fimovies of all time." The list, published on April 21, included hit films like 1979's Alien, Terminator 2: Judgment Dayfrom 1991, Back to the Futurefrom 1985, and 1982's Blade Runner.

Collider named the second film in the original Star Wars trilogy, The Empire Strikes Back (1980), as the "most universally beloved sci-fi" film ever released. The publication reported that the Irvin Kershner-directed film's popularity partly stems from the introduction of Yoda (Frank Oz), the romance between Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher), and the big revelation about Darth Vader (James Earl Jones).

In an interview discussing The Empire Strikes Back, written by Leigh Brackett and Lawrence Kasdan, the creator of Star Wars, George Lucas, suggested that he didn't believe the 1980 film is the most exciting out of the franchise.

"Empire Strikes back is the middle part of a single film. It's the middle act. And in the middle act of a movie, or a book, or anything else, the middle, not much happens. It sort of evolves the story. Makes the plot more complicated," said Lucas, who came up with the script's story.

He said that the film's main plot device "was the revelation that Darth Vader is Luke's (Mark Hamill) father."

In addition, Lucas explained why he included Yoda in the second Star Wars film. He said that after killing off Obi-Wan Kenobi (Alec Guinness) in the first film, Star Wars: A New Hope, he had to create a Jedi character to train Luke. He also said he decided to make Yoda "a little creature so that he would be interesting to listen to," despite his "philosophical, not very interesting dialogue."

In addition, Lucas said that Yoda's character design "really comes from a tradition in mythological storytelling, fairy tales, of the hero finding a little creature on the side of the road that seems very insignificant and not very important," but is actually "the master wizard or the main guide."

"I wanted him to be a little insignificant character, something like a frog or something that you just didn't pay any attention to. And he turns out to be the most powerful Jedi in the universe," said Lucas in the interview.

And I don’t want to reach the end of my life and look back and feel regret for only living a half-life, not going after all the things I want to do and try.”
