Why Stephanie Buttermore Quit YouTube 2 Years Before Her Death

Sat, 03/07/2026 - 3:22pm

Stephanie Buttermore rose to fame on YouTube, but abandoned her accounts two years before her tragic 2026 death. Here's what happened leading up to Jeff Nippard's fiancée quitting social media.

Related: Fitness YouTuber Stephanie Buttermore, Jeff Nippard’s Fiancée, Dead at 36

Buttermore, who died "suddenly" at age 36 as announced by Nippard on March 6, was a successful fitness and health YouTuber, with more than a million subscribers on the platform. She started doing bikini bodybuilding competitions while studying to get her Ph.D. "in pathology and cell biology with a focus on the molecular mechanisms that drive ovarian cancer progression," all before starting her channel in 2014.

Originally, Buttermore's channel focused on fitness, workouts, health education, bodybuilding training, and diet. As her following grew, she captured the attention of another influencer: Nippard, who now has a whopping 8.2 million followers on his channel. Nippard slid into Buttermore's DMs in 2016, and the rest was history.

Buttermore's videos were always extremely transparent and honest, but she took it to the next level with her unexpected "All-In Challenge" in 2019 after speaking with Hypothalamic Amenorrhea expert Dr. Nicola Rinaldi about how her extreme dieting and training had made her stop menstruating.

View this post on Instagram

She unveiled a new plan to "eat to satiety every single day" to "normalize her appetite," which meant no more calorie counting or worrying about weight while trying to curb her extreme appetite. She gained more than 40 pounds over the course of a year. "Gaining weight in public is extremely scary," she said in a recap of the experience one year later in 2020. "Especially on YouTube and especially in fitness, because people are savage."

Buttermore did struggle with it, from online criticism, her own insecurities, and even negative comments from her mother. "[My mom] is literally the sweetest human being I know... but she is mentally ill," she explained. "I know I shouldn't have taken it so seriously, but everything that she was saying was everything that I was feeling, and it just hit me where it hurt." The influencer admitted that by the six-month mark, she was having "regular breakdowns" from the stress.

However, by the end of the year, she considered the experiment to be an overall success. "I've noticed your personality change, you do definitely seem happier just like on an hour-to-hour basis throughout the day," Nippard said in her video. "And I do think it's improved our relationship as well... I find we enjoy each other's time a lot more now."

In September of that year, she shared some of the coping mechanisms she'd come up with following the response to the videos, including reading and "cubing."

"I've been learning how to do a Rubik's Cube," she shared. "It's like this mental exercise that keeps my mind off of things that are just not as important and things that are just bad thoughts."

While Buttermore had opened up about struggling with criticism many times over the years, the most extreme came after her final video in April 2023, titled "How I Feel About My New Body," in which she revealed she got a breast augmentation. She opened up about the response in one of her last Instagram posts in February 2024.

"I want to talk about some of the criticism I received when I got a breast augmentation last year and from my All In journey before that," she wrote on her 34th birthday. "I used to be so bitter and genuinely hurt by the hate, but I’ve come to realize that it’s not that much different than videos reviewing a new album."

"I took it too personally and I see that now. I finally get it. I get why they did it and I’m finally cool with it," she added. "I wish I was strong enough to accept criticism when I was All In, but maybe that’s all a part of getting older."

It would be three months before Buttermore posted again, and when she did in May 2024, she revealed what she learned from the social media break, and why it would be permanent from then on.

View this post on Instagram

While she admitted she "missed" her online community, she said her "mental health has been the best it’s ever been," adding that she was "no longer struggling" with the "crippling anxiety" that had previously made her feel like she "couldn’t breathe or leave my house."

"I’m living in a judgment free space and it’s peaceful here," she added. "Overall the pros have outweighed the cons for me... [but] believe me when I say I Iove and miss you, I truly mean it."

Fans still caught glimpses of Buttermore on Nippard's Instagram, and she would even comment from time to time, like on Valentine's Day 2026, when Nippard posted a photo of them together and she wrote, "Love you forever" on the post.

Nippard shared a heartbreaking post on March 6 announcing the death of his longtime partner, writing, “It is with profound sorrow that we share the sudden passing of Jeff’s fiancée and partner of ten years, Stephanie."

"As many of you know, Stephanie meant the world to Jeff,” the statement continued. “She will be remembered for her warmth and compassion, her love for her family, and her PhD research on ovarian cancer.”

Patricia Heaton Makes Candid Statement About Daryl Hannah Amid 'Love Story' Controversy

Sat, 03/07/2026 - 2:29pm

Patricia Heaton is coming to Daryl Hannah's defense.

Following Hannah's recent criticism of Ryan Murphy's new FX series Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette, Heaton issued a statement to speak on behalf of Hannah's character, seemingly confirming what the show may have gotten wrong.

Taking to Instagram on Saturday, March 7, Heaton, 68, shared a photo from the set of the film Memoirs of an Invisible Man, which she worked on with Hannah back in the early '90s.

In her caption, the Everybody Loves Raymond alum reflected on her personal experience with Hannah, sharing nothing but nice things about the actress.

Noting that there has been "a lot of buzz" surrounding Hannah since the release of Love Story and the actress' subsequent essay in theNew York Times, Heaton wrote in her post on Saturday, "For what it’s worth, I met Daryl Hannah early on in my career when I worked a few days on a movie with her."

View this post on Instagram

"I was just starting out, she had already become a huge star in 'Splash,' and yet she treated me with such kindness and inclusiveness, chatting with me about all kinds of things and graciously offering her trailer to me in case I was bored and wanted to watch a movie."

"I can’t begin to tell you how unusual that is in our business, and it has stayed with me all these years as a model of how to treat everyone you encounter on a set," Heaton added, while confirming that Hannah is "a lovely person."

Hannah shared how she really feels about the new series in her op-ed in the Times, insisting that portrayal of her in the series is "not even a remotely accurate representation" of her life or her relationship with JFK Jr. "The actions and behaviors attributed to me are untrue."

In the weeks following the series' premiere, Hannah also claimed to have received "many hostile and even threatening messages from viewers who seem to believe the portrayal is factual."

"When entertainment borrows a real person’s name, it can permanently impact her reputation," she wrote. "Real names are not fictional tools. They belong to real lives."

11 High-Quality Quince Essentials for Your Winter Travel Rotation

Sat, 03/07/2026 - 2:02pm

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

As Martha Stewart recently proved with her chic travel selfie en route to the Winter Olympics in Milan, the ultimate goal of jet-setting is to remain comfortable without sacrificing an ounce of style. As a travel writer who has spent years perfecting the art of the airport uniform, I’ve learned that the secret to surviving a long-haul flight lies in high-quality, "quiet luxury" pieces that look far more expensive than their price tags suggest.

Lately, my go-to for these elevated essentials is Quince. Their current collection of cashmere and performance fabrics offers the perfect solution for winter travel, especially when you're navigating the tricky transition from freezing departure gates to humid tropical arrivals. Here are the pieces currently in my regular rotation that make "airport style" feel effortless.

View this post on Instagram Quince Winter Travel Pieces:The SuperSoft Fleece Collection

If you want to walk off a plane looking pulled together but feeling like you’re in pajamas, the SuperSoft Fleece Hoodieand matching Cropped Wide-Leg Pants are the gold standard. The fabric—a blend of Tencel Modal and spandex—is remarkably buttery and lightweight, making it ideal for layering. I recently wore this set from a chilly morning in Boston to a sun-drenched Florida airport and stayed perfectly comfortable the entire time. The cropped length of the pants is particularly practical; I pair them with wool socks for the flight and swap those for sandals the moment we land.

Elevated Mongolian Cashmere

For those who prefer a "Quiet Luxury" aesthetic, Quince’s Grade-A Mongolian cashmere has become a travel staple. The Full Hoodie Zip and matching Cashmere Sweatpantscreate a look that feels very "Loro Piana" but at a fraction of the cost. The weave is dense and substantial, which helps it resist pilling—a common heartbreak with travel knits.

High-Performance Flowknit Sets

When I need my plane outfit to work double-duty, I reach for the Flowknit Pullover Hoodieand Midrise Joggers. Made from a sustainable, moisture-wicking poly blend, this set is breathable enough for a dash through the terminal but sleek enough to wear to the hotel gym once you arrive. The thumb-holes and thick drawstrings give it a high-end athleisure feel that holds its shape much better than cheaper jersey alternatives.

The Cold-Weather Specialist

For truly frigid flights where the cabin draft is relentless, the Whistler Midrise Thermal Joggers are a lifesaver. They feature a sturdy, wind-resistant outer shell with a brushed, cozy interior that traps heat without feeling bulky. I love pairing these with the Oversized Cashmere Crewneck for a "slouchy-chic" look that provides maximum warmth on overnight hauls.

The "Old Money" Airport Essential

This polo is the ultimate "old money" piece for your winter travel wardrobe. It strikes that elusive balance between a structured, professional look and the cloud-like comfort of Grade-A Mongolian cashmere. It’s breathable enough for a stuffy cabin but looks sharp enough to wear straight to a lunch meeting or a resort dinner upon landing. For a high-low winter look, I love pairing this refined knit with the rugged, cozy Whistler thermal joggers.

The Lightweight Legend

As one of Quince's biggest bestsellers, this crewneck is a dream for a streamlined carry-on. It provides warmth without the bulk, making it a perfect base layer. I love the "Varsity Red" for a pop of color, but I also frequently use it as a chic substitute for a scarf when the overhead air gets too crisp.

The Polished Finisher

Finally, for the traveler who needs to head straight from the runway to a meeting or dinner, the Scuba Captain’s Convertible Blazer is a game-changer. Despite its structured, military-inspired look—complete with gold buttons and a double-breasted cut—it’s made from a stretchy, wrinkle-free scuba fabric that's surprisingly comfy. You can toss it over a hoodie on the plane, and it will emerge from your seat looking crisp and completely unbothered.

Napster Was Forced to Shut Down by Court Order 25 Years Ago

Sat, 03/07/2026 - 1:50pm

Twenty-five years ago, a federal court decision forced one of the most popular apps on the internet to begin shutting down. The platform had tens of millions of users and had taken over college campuses across the country. What made it so popular was also what made it illegal: it let people download music from other users' computers, for free, without permission.

That app was Napster, the peer-to-peer file-sharing service that fundamentally changed how people thought about music.

— RetroNewsNow (@RetroNewsNow) October 2, 2024

On March 6, 2001, U.S. District Judge Marilyn Hall Patel ordered Napster to remove all copyrighted material from its platform after a wave of lawsuits from the music industry. It was the beginning of the end. Napster had no realistic way to filter copyrighted songs out of its massive network, and on July 11, 2001, Napster shut down its file-sharing service.

🎬 SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬

The whole thing had only existed for two years. Napster launched on June 1, 1999, created by Shawn Fanning, a college freshman at Northeastern University, and his friend Sean Parker, who would later become the first president of Facebook. The concept was straightforward: search for a song, and Napster would find it on someone else's computer and transfer the file directly to yours.

— Historic Vids (@historyinmemes) June 1, 2024

It caught on fast. At its peak, Napster had roughly 80 million registered users, according to The Guardian. On some college campuses, Napster traffic accounted for as much as half of all internet bandwidth as students traded MP3 files across dorm rooms.

The music industry came for it hard. In April 2000, Metallica filed a lawsuit after a demo of its unreleased song "I Disappear" leaked on the platform and started circulating on radio stations before the band had even put it out. Dr. Dre filed a similar suit weeks later. Then the Recording Industry Association of America sued Napster on behalf of major record labels, pushing the fight into federal court.

Napster lost. But the idea didn't go anywhere.

After the shutdown, platforms like LimeWire and Kazaa popped up immediately. Then Apple launched the iTunes Music Store in 2003, withSteve Jobs telling the industry that Napster had "demonstrated that the internet was made for music delivery." In 2008, Spotify launched a subscription-based streaming model that now dominates how people listen to music worldwide. Its founder, Daniel Ek, has said he became "infatuated" with Napster as a teenager and built Spotify around the idea of making "a better product than piracy."

As for Napster itself, the brand has been bought and sold multiple times since its original shutdown. Most recently, immersive tech company Infinite Reality purchased it for $207 million in 2025 and, in January 2026, abruptly shut down its music streaming service entirely to pivot to AI. Users who were mid-listen got a splash screen telling them Napster was no longer a music streaming service. Fanning, notably, is not part of the current company's leadership. He has continued working in tech as an entrepreneur and angel investor.

Here’s Exactly What Happens to Your Body When You Walk 20 Minutes a Day

Sat, 03/07/2026 - 1:50pm

Sometimes, the desire to improve health takes the form of big, dramatic promises. Maybe every January 1, you vow to go to the gym every single day; no more pressing snooze on your alarm clock in the morning. Or, every once in a while, you get the urge to purge the pantry of anything ultraprocessed, recommitting yourself to a sugar-free diet.

Certainly, exercising every day and minimizing sugar are healthy habits to make, but dramatic changes can also be challenging to stick with. For most people, what’s more sustainable is making healthy changes in smaller steps instead of all at once. Committing to walking 20 minutes a day is the perfect example of this.

Instead of committing to strenuous workouts every day, going for a 20-minute walk is a more manageable goal. You don’t even need to change your clothes to do it. You can talk on the phone while you do it, calling a friend or family member who has been on your mind. 20 minutes is the length of roughly six songs and shorter than most podcast episodes.

Perhaps you’re skeptical about just how much a daily 20-minute walk can impact your health. The truth is, the benefits are greater than you likely think. Read on to find out what they are.

5 Things That Happen to Your Body When You Walk 20 Minutes a Day1. It lowers your risk of cardiovascular disease

“Walking is amazing for your cardiovascular health,” says Allison Goldsmith, NASM, a certified personal trainer. Goldsmith explains that walking every day—even just for 20 minutes—strengthens the heart, which reduces the risk of high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease. “Walking enhances blood circulation, which improves overall blood flow. It also helps regulate blood pressure and decreases stress on the arteries,” she adds.

According to a scientific review published in Current Opinion in Cardiology, walking for 30 minutes a day, five days a week lowers the risk of heart disease by 19%. According to a scientific study that compared the benefits of running versus walking, both forms of cardio were similarly effective when it came to reducing the risk of high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes. That means, if you can’t run or simply don’t like to, walking can be just as beneficial for your heart.

2. Walking supports brain health

It’s a safe bet that whatever is good for your heart is also good for your brain, and walking is no exception. “Walking increases blood flow, and blood contains oxygen. This means that more oxygen gets to the brain, which helps neurons function better. When neurons are functioning at optimal levels, your cognitive functions, like memory and attention, are enhanced. The blood even brings nutrients that decrease the risk of dementia,” Goldsmith explains.

Scientific research backs this up, showing that regular walking—especially at a quick pace—reduces the risk of dementia and Alzheimer’s. Even 3,800 steps a day can lower the risk by 25%.

Certified personal trainer Renee Moton, CPT, adds to this, saying that better blood flow to the brain also supports the immune system and the lymphatic system, which helps protect the body from infections. To this point, a study in the Journal of Sport and Health Science found that acute exercise, like walking, boosts the body’s defense system.

Moton also points out that walking supports mental health and is connected to lowering the risk of depression and anxiety. If you take a 20-minute walk in nature, you can bet that you’ll come back feeling more relaxed and happier than before you left the house.

Related: This Lifestyle Factor Predicts Brain Aging Better Than Genetics, According to Neurologists

3. Walking helps with blood sugar control

Both personal trainers say that a short walk can help with managing blood sugar, especially if it’s done after eating. “Taking a 10-minute walk after a meal within 60 minutes of eating reduces blood sugar spikes. When we walk, muscles consume glucose for energy, requiring less insulin and allowing for more stable glucose levels,” Goldsmith explains.

Scientific research shows this too, finding that walking can play an important role in managing type 2 diabetes.

4. It’s good for your bones and joints

While you may already know that strength training is important for supporting bone and joint health as we age, walking helps too. “Walking is a low-impact exercise that stimulates bone remodeling and helps with joint health. When your feet hit the ground, it lets the body know that your old bone tissue needs to be replaced to increase bone density and reduce the risk of fractures. Your hips and legs will receive the biggest benefits from walking, like increased bone mineral density,” Goldsmith says.

In terms of joint health, Goldsmith explains that joints don’t have much tissue, so it’s hard for them to receive the oxygen they need. But when you move your joints, such as by bending your knees when you walk, the heart sends blood flow to the knee joint. This, she explains, helps lubricate the joints as well as help circulate joint fluid, bringing nutrients to the cartilage.

While walking every day does support bone and joint health, Moton says that it’s important to strengthen the body, particularly the lower body, through other forms of exercise too. That way, the repetitive motion of walking won’t put too much wear and tear on the body.

5. Walking can add years to your life

Walking is so beneficial to health that it can literally add years to your life. Goldsmith points out that one of the common dominators in Blue Zones (regions in the world where people regularly live to be over 100 in good health) is that walking is integrated into residents’ daily routines.

According to one scientific study that took into account more than 17,000 women between the ages of 62 and 101, walking roughly 4,400 steps a day reduced mortality by an average of 41%—that’s huge!

If there was a medication that reduced mortality by 40%, lowered the risk of dementia as well as other chronic diseases like cardiovascular cancer, you’d want to take it every single day, right? Walking is free, accessible and enjoyable. It’s one of the easiest and most profound ways to support your health.

FETV is airing a special Emergency! Daylight Saving Time marathon, titled "Saving Time," on Sunday, March 8, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. ET. The network’s promo teases that viewers can “turn the clocks ahead—and turn up the action” with a block of episodes celebrating the firefighters, paramedics and doctors who “work around the clock to save lives.”

The series, which originally debuted in 1972, starred Randolph Mantooth and Kevin Tighe as firefighter-paramedics John Gage and Roy DeSoto, the duo at the heart of Squad 51. 'Star Trek: Starfleet Academy' Has an 88% on Rotten Tomatoes. So Why Are Fans So Divided?

Sat, 03/07/2026 - 12:39pm

The season finale airs March 12. Nine weeks in, people are still arguing about whether the show belongs in the franchise at all.

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy premiered January 15 on Paramount+ to a split that had little precedent even by the standards of modern Trek discourse. Critics certified it 'Fresh' at 88 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. The audience score landed around 43 percent, with the 'Popcornmeter' sitting at 21 percent on opening day. On IMDb, the user score dropped to 4.8 within the first 48 hours. The show had debuted and was already being written off by a large swath of people.

What's happened since is worth paying attention to.

The show centers on a newly rebuilt Starfleet Academy in the 32nd century, led by Holly Hunter as Chancellor Nahla Ake, with a young cast of cadets navigating personal stakes alongside a mounting threat to the Federation. The premise drew immediate criticism from a portion of the fanbase who dismissed it as a teen drama in Trek clothing. ComicBook.com documented the backlash directly, reporting that over 38 percent of early IMDb reviews were single-star ratings, which is a pattern consistent with coordinated review bombing. Meanwhile, critics were seeing something different.

Related: Patrick Stewart Said No—Then One Bottle of Wine Saved a 'Star Trek' TV Reunion

In her review for The Mary Sue, Editor in Chief Rachel Leishman wrote: 'Starfleet Academy is everything that Star Trek should be. It is fun, new, and what we love about this franchise.' Collider's Samantha Coleygave it a 9 out of 10, calling it 'the best example of what Star Trek can and should be doing in this modern era, effortlessly inclusive, compelling, and innovative.'

The audience score has since recovered from its floor, though the gap between critic and viewer response remains significant.

Jonathan Frakes, who directed episode 9 and has helmed episodes across seven different Trek series, addressed the backlash this week in an interview with Den of Geek.

'What’s with the haters? This show is great,' Frakes said. 'I’m thrilled with it. I think it has a real optimism. It’s representative of Star Trekmoving into the future.'

'There’s a lot of canon that is in place that Starfleet Academy is reestablishing itself in San Francisco after a hundred years,' he added. 'There’s a lot for the hardcore Trekkies to dig into, to say, ‘Oh, okay, this is where they are now’ while still delivering surprises.

Frakes also weighed in on the moment that became the season's most talked-about visual, Hunter's habit of draping herself across furniture rather than sitting upright in her captain's chair. 'When I saw that in the first episode, I said, ‘This is going to be it. This is the defining moment of her captainship.’ It made me smile. I thought, ‘This show has balls doing this.’ And she just embraced it.'

Episode 9, which Frakes directed and called his final Trek episode for the foreseeable future, sets up the two-part finale directly. He told Den of Geek: 'I love this episode and everything it teased up for the finale.'

2010 Ultimate Classic Ranked Best ‘Survivor’ Episode of All Time

Sat, 03/07/2026 - 12:36pm

For 26 years, Survivor has garnered a reputation for delivering high-quality reality television gold. Amid the airing of the monumental 50th season, it is only natural to reflect the series' most epic moments. Out of hundreds of episodes, a select few endure as true standouts.

In 2024, Collider ranked the 15 best Survivor episodes ever aired. From early-season classics to modern gems, the team compiled a list of the most entertaining installments in the show's history. Beating out both Tocantins' legendary episode 13, "The Martyr Approach," at No. 3 and Cagayan's episode 6, "Head of the Snake," at No. 2, Heroes Vs. Villains' episode 10, "Going Down in Flames," took the top spot.

First aired in the spring of 2010, Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains quickly became a franchise favorite. The season's engaging cast and unique challenges infatuated viewers, raking in an average of 13.6 million viewers per episode. The season was a massive success for CBS, with ratings skyrocketing and streaming numbers doubling from previous seasons. Even 16 years after its release, it is still considered one of the best seasons of the show.

"Anything Could Happen," the two-hour season finale of Survivor: Heroes Vs. Villains aired on Sunday, May 16 on the CBS Television Network.

Among the episodes that stemmed from the 20th season was episode 10, "Going Down in Flames." This was the season's merge episode—the pivotal point when rival tribes combine and individual gameplay commences. Given the high stakes of a merge, it is fitting that the top-rated episode would be one, especially during the show's most celebrated season.

"Going Down in Flames" features a mix of legendary gameplay, captivating players and an engaging immunity challenge. After previous episodes set up J.T. Thomas’s ill-fated decision to give his idol to Russell Hantz, the episode pays off in a shocking tribal council. Through Parvati Shallow's iconic move of playing two Hidden Immunity Idols, the Villains asserted their dominance and J. T. Thomas was voted out.

The combination of brilliant strategy and nail-biting tension created a formula for an excellent Survivor episode. To this day, it perseveres as the show's best episode, maintaining a 9/10 rating on IMDb.

During a recent interview with Hello!, Collins was asked about her opinion on GLP-1 medications, to which she candidly replied by admitting she's personally not a fan of such methods for weight loss.

"I would never dream of doing something like that," Collins said. "I have seen too many disastrous faces."

"There's a thing now called 'Ozempic face,' where you see this body which is really tiny and this big face," she went on to say, noting that she believes "something's gone wrong" with how widespread the use of weight loss medications has become lately.

"I can't put my finger on it, but I just don't think it's good," she added.

Collins, who has maintained her fit physique and youthful glow even in her 90s, went on to share the only methods for weight loss that she really believes in: diet and exercise.

"I think it's important," she said, noting that she herself still exercises "two, three or four times a week."

"You don't get legs like this if you don't exercise," she quipped, gesturing to her legs.

1973 Classic Anthem Was a No. 1 Hit 52 Years Ago Today

Sat, 03/07/2026 - 11:50am

The chart-topping glam rock single "Jealous Mind" (1973) by English rock singer Alvin Stardust made music history 52 years ago when it landed in the No. 1 spot on the U.K. Singles Chart on March 7, 1974.

Stardust was a persona created by Bernard William Jewry in the '70s and '80s during the glam rock era after his former band, Shane Fenton and the Fentones, broke up. The new character was a reference to David Bowie's iconic persona Ziggy Stardust, and like Bowie, Jewry as Stardust embodied the eccentric and campy aesthetics of other glam rock musicians of the time.

"Jealous Mind" would be Stardust's only No. 1 hit single during the course of his musical career, but several of his other songs would also show significant chart success, including his 1981 hit "Pretend" and the 1984 song "I Feel Like Buddy Holly."

Though the song originally released as a single in 1973, "Jealous Mind" was released as the fifth track on Stardust's debut album The Untouchable (1974), which also features his first single "My Coo Ca Choo" as the opening track.

In 1985, Stardust competed in A Song for Europe, which was the U.K.'s national selection competition show that determined who would represent the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest. Stardust finished in third place with his entry "The Clock on the Wall."

Stardust also acted alongside his musical career, taking roles in soap operas such as Hollyoaks and theater performances like Godspell, David Copperfield: The Musical and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

After an over-40-year-long career, Stardust died in 2014 at the age of 72, just weeks before he was supposed to release his sixth studio album Alvin, which was also his first album in 30 years. A second posthumous album, Behind the Wheel, was released in 2021, ensuring that Stardust's legacy would continue long after his death.

Country Music Star Details Near-Fatal Drinking Before Wake-Up Call: 'I Was Going to Die'

Sat, 03/07/2026 - 11:41am

Four years ago, country music singer Ashley McBryde decided to go to rehab for alcoholism, a decision that saved her life. In a recent conversation with Bobby Bones on his Netflix show, The BobbyCast, she emotionally broke down the day she agreed to get help, after realizing that she was heading down a dangerous and potentially fatal path.

"I woke up at another artist's house, another female artist. And if I told you who, you would not be shocked, of course," the award-winning country star explained. "And I woke up in a bed that's not mine, in pajamas that aren't mine, and I was like, ‘Oh my god, that must have been a doozy.’ I'm thirsty, I don't know where I am, and I don't know where water is. So I'll just go find water."

"And when I went to find water, I found a living room," she continued. "In that living room was my team, and they said, 'We need you to stop,' and I said, 'I need me to stop, too.' And that was when I found out that [the artist] took me to her house that night after we'd been out to make sure I didn't die."

Before she decided to get help, McBryde attempted to do it on her own. She hid her drinking from her parents and those closest to her. She imposed rules on herself, such as no drinking before going on stage or before fan meet and greets. Unfortunately, that backfired dramatically.

"For some reason, my brain was like, 'You didn't drink til after a show, now you have to drink as much as humanly possible," she said.

While this may be the first time the Grand Ole Opry star has spoken so openly about what led her to rehab, she's loudly shared her pride in getting sober in the past. On March 8, 2025, she posted on Instagram that she'd reached the 1000-day mark in her sobriety. She described the 1,000 ways she knew she'd made the right choice.

"1,000 “I love you’s” I  say to my reflection," she captioned the photos. "I see the woman I am now and the woman I am on my way to being and I have love and compassion for the woman I was and I care for her daily."

The star of the show, shown by @costcobuys, is a coordinated two-piece outfit that can be worn together or mixed with other staples in your closet. The set includes a women's crewneck sweatshirt and matching luxe shorts, both made with the brand's signature soft fabric that fans love.

Shoppers can choose from butter yellow, charcoal and sage. Each color offers a slightly different vibe. Butter yellow feels fresh and bright, charcoal is sleek and classic, and sage adds a soft neutral touch. It also fits right into the growing trend of elevated loungewear—pieces that look stylish enough for public outings but feel as comfortable as your favorite sweats. With neutral color options and a budget-friendly price, it's easy to see why shoppers are adding it to their carts.

Would you wear the pieces as a matching set for that clean look or mix and match the colors for something more fun?

Legendary ’80s Rocker Says Doctors Told Him ‘You’re Done’ After Health Scare

Sat, 03/07/2026 - 11:10am

A legendary voice from the ’80s metal scene is opening up about the health issues that forced him to step away from the stage.

During a recent appearance on the Beardo & Weirdo podcast, former Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider revealed that doctors delivered a blunt reality check that ultimately led him to back out of the band’s planned 50th-anniversary reunion tour.

Reflecting on the moment he came face-to-face with his limitations, Snider, 70, recalled a conversation with his doctor that left little room for interpretation. “First of all, becoming face-to-face with mortality. And as the doctor said to me, 'Dude, you're great, amazing for a 71-year-old. But you can't do that anymore. You're done. Your body parts are worn out, and you got nothing left.'”

The singer explained that the warning came after years of intense physical performances that took a toll on his body. When a surgeon examined his X-ray, the response was equally direct. “[He said], 'Do you jump around much?' 'Yeah. That's kind of what I do.' He goes, 'Yeah, well, you're done.'”

READ MORE: Late ’70s Rock Legend’s Former Bandmates Set Tribute Tour for 2026

Snider initially hoped surgery might allow him to continue touring. He underwent a hip replacement and believed the procedure might help him return to performing. But during additional testing, doctors discovered previously undiagnosed heart issues and hypertension, complicating his plans to get back onstage.

The rocker even attempted a brief comeback while guest performing with Lita Ford. But after only a few energetic moments, things quickly went sideways. “Three bounces—knee goes. And I'm, like, 'Whoa. Son of a bitch.' And I'm just hearing that surgeon going, 'You're done. You're done. You're done.'”

Today, the singer says he’s focused on enjoying life with his family at his compound in North Carolina while pursuing other creative outlets, including directing his first film and continuing his long-running syndicated radio show House of Hair.

Despite stepping away from the tour, Snider reassured fans he’s at peace with the decision. As he later shared on social media, he’s simply choosing to preserve the time and energy he has left rather than push himself beyond his limits.

But fans need not worry; Twisted Sister’s anniversary shows will still go on, with former Skid Row frontman Sebastian Bachstepping in for several performances this fall.

The 'Best New Brewery' in America Is Actually in a Super Cute Small Town

Sat, 03/07/2026 - 11:06am

I'm a firm believer in exploring small towns. Big cities offer a lot of flash. And while I do enjoy sightseeing, sometimes a weekend away needs a slower pace. There is no better place to do that than in a small town. And the best part is, they are in every pocket of every state across the U.S.

Businesses also see the benefit of putting down roots in small towns; the sense of community is strong. In 2024, Hearth Brewing Company, which was just named the best new brewery in America by USA Today's 10Best, put down roots in Harrison, Ohio, and built an empire worthy of national recognition. There are dozens of specialty beers for every palate and a robust enough menu that the entire family can enjoy. And it is a family- and dog-friendly environment, making hanging out at the property a blast.

While the brewery is reason enough to visit the adorable small town, which sits on the border of Ohio and Indiana, Harrison has so much to offer people passing through or hanging out for a long weekend.

Just 10 things that make Harrison, Ohio a fantastic place to live! I have to be honest, #10 was a complete and wonderful surprise. 😍 Which of these is your favorite? What should I add to the list? #harrisonohio #cincinnati #ohio #cincinnatiohio

'70s Band Just Ranked 'the Best Classic Rock Artists' of All Time

Sat, 03/07/2026 - 10:56am

Beloved rock bandLed Zeppelin is still getting praised nearly six decades after they debuted their first album, 1969's Led Zeppelin I.

On March 6, Colliderreleased a ranking of the 10 "Best Classic Rock Artists of All Time." The list featured popular artists and musical groups from the '60s and '70s, like Fleetwood Mac, The Who, King Crimson, The Rolling Stones, and Jimi Hendrix. Rock icons Pink Floyd, Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie, and The Beatles rounded out the top five, with Led Zeppelin being placed as number one.

The publication reported that Led Zeppelin ranked as number one because the band's music is quintessentially "classic rock." In addition, Collider complimented Led Zeppelin's ability to make each of their songs sound uniform, while still being unique.

Robert Plant Shared What He Enjoyed Most About Being in Led Zeppelin

Led Zeppelin, which disbanded in 1980, included Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, Robert Plant, and the late John Bonham. In a May 2024 interview with Dan Rather, Plant, now 77, reflected on his time in the band. He said he appreciated that Led Zeppelin was able to establish their career as musicians before there were "charts" or any "structure" on how to become a successful rock band.

"We were flying by the seat of our pants into this thing," said the vocalist during the interview.

He said that he and his bandmates didn't have "etiquette" and weren't the ideal guests for a talk show. Rather, they were able to take pride in their craft without any expectations from the media.

"It was a time to be proud of our music," said Plant.

He also shared that he and his bandmates didn't expect to become so popular.

"It was just like kids going from playing in the Youth Club behind the church to playing in small clubs. The acceleration into another place was crazy," said Plant in the 2024 interview.

Plant also said that the idea of becoming a professional musician was appealing to him during his teenage years because he grew up in "a kind of very gray post-war" Britain. He also said that he has always "been a music fan and a fan of all things that are interesting."

These 3 Favorite Colors Are Often Linked to Emotional Intelligence, According to a Color Analyst

Sat, 03/07/2026 - 10:40am

Book smarts aren't the only way to measure intelligence... and neither is IQ. Emotional intelligence has true value in our work and personal lives.

According to the American Psychological Association (APA) Dictionary of Psychology, people with high emotional intelligence (EQ or EI) can accurately identify, express and regulate their own and others' emotions. To determine whether or not someone has high emotional intelligence, you may evaluate how empathetic they are or how well they manage stressful situations.

However, first, it's worth asking: Is it possible to determine someone's emotional intelligence by their favorite color? While the answer isn't as black-and-white as "yes or no," color preference can provide clues into whether someone is emotionally intelligent.

"Emotionally intelligent people are often more aware of the environments they create around themselves, and color is one of the most powerful tools shaping those environments," explains Michelle Lewis, a color psychology expert, certified color analyst, author and the founder of ColorAnalysis.com and The Color Institute. "In my work as both a color psychologist and color analyst, I look at color through two lenses: how it affects the human nervous system and how it interacts with the individual wearing or experiencing it."

For this reason, it's important to remember that color is one powerful tool, but not the only.

"Color preference alone does not determine emotional intelligence," says Helen Plehn, the founder, author, artist and spiritual teacher at Helen Creates Beauty.

With that caveat out of the way, it's worth reflecting on how your color preference may help to shape you. Scroll on for Lewis' insights on the three favorite colors often linked to emotional intelligence (and whether any favorite colors signal lower EI). She also shares insights into color psychology, including what it is and what people's preferences can and cannot tell us.

What Is Color Psychology?

Unsplash

"Color psychology is the study of how different hues influence human emotion, cognition and behavior," Lewis tells Parade. "At its core, it explores how wavelengths of light within the visible spectrum interact with the human brain and nervous system, shaping how we feel, think and respond to our environment."

If you're unfamiliar with color analysis and psychology, you might be a bit skeptical, but there is a science behind all of it.

"Color is one of the fastest signals the brain processes—it shapes how we feel, how we think and how others interpret us before a single word is spoken," she explains.

She also points to research in neuroscience and environmental psychology that color psychology can influence physiological reactions, including:

  • Heart rate
  • Blood pressure
  • Attention levels
  • Emotional arousal
Is There a Real Relationship Between Personality and Color Preferences?

The short answer: "Yes, but it’s layered," Plehn states.

Research shows a modest link between personality and color preferences, but nothing is definitive.

In her work, Lewis takes a holistic look at various ways color can influence us—and the many factors that play into these preferences. Importantly, Lewis adds that color psychology is never 100% about biology. Other factors, like culture, memory, science, environment and symbolism can all come into play.

"That’s why the same color can feel calming in one context and stimulating in another," she points out. "In my work, I view color psychology as a combination of physiology, psychology and lived human experience… the interaction between what our eyes perceive and what our brains and cultures have learned to associate with colors over time."

Still, she emphasizes that emotionally intelligent people are also aware of and intentional about the environments they create around themselves. Color is significant when emotionally intelligent people create these environments.

She also points out that there's overlap between color analysis and emotional intelligence: self-awareness.

"People who are highly emotionally aware often become very intentional about the colors they surround themselves with or wear, because they recognize how those choices affect both their own mindset and how others perceive them," she says.

3 Favorite Colors Often Linked to Emotional Intelligence, According to a Color Analyst1. Shades of green

Lewis points out that green tends to be "visually comfortable and balanced to the human eye" because it sits near the middle of the visible spectrum.

She says that psychology and environmental design link green with:

  • Restoration
  • Balance
  • Emotional equilibrium

"Because emotional intelligence involves balancing logic, empathy and self-regulation, people who prefer green often value harmony and emotional stability in their surroundings," she shares.

2. Shades of blue

You may have expected blue to show up on this list if you know even a thing or two about color psychology.

"Blue is frequently associated with calm, reflection and thoughtful decision-making," Lewis says.

She adds that exposure to blue is also associated with lower pulse rates and physiological arousal, helping to create a focused, contemplative mental state.

"Because emotional intelligence relies heavily on self-awareness and emotional regulation, people who gravitate toward blue often appreciate environments that allow for reflection and thoughtful communication," she continues. "Blue is also widely associated with trust and stability, which is why it appears so frequently in leadership branding and professional environments."

3. Shades of yellow

"Yellow is closely tied to mental stimulation, optimism and forward thinking," Lewis says.

She explains that yellow is one of the most visually stimulating colors to the human eye and nervous system because of its place near the center of the visible spectrum. Yellow has long been linked with hope, curiosity and intellectual engagement in psychology, she notes.

"In moderate amounts, it can encourage open thinking and creativity," she shares. "For people who value emotional intelligence, that sense of curiosity and openness to ideas often aligns with yellow’s symbolic role as a color of possibility and optimism."

Are There Specific Favorite Colors Linked To Lower Emotional Intelligence?

Even though there are colors associated with higher emotional intelligence, Lewis isn't sold on this other idea.

"It would be inaccurate to say that any color preference directly signals lower emotional intelligence," she states. "Emotional intelligence is a complex skill set involving empathy, self-awareness and emotional regulation—far more nuanced than a single color preference."

Still, she states that some colors are more frequently linked with emotional neutrality or suppression. Context matters.

"Black, gray and white are considered achromatic colors, meaning they don’t correspond to a single wavelength in the visible spectrum the way colors like red or blue do," Lewis explains. "Because of this, our responses to them are less tied to biological reactions and more shaped by cultural meaning and symbolism."

For instance, Western culture often associates black with periods of mourning (hence why it's a default for funerals). But Lewis says other countries consider it a symbol of formality and authority.

"White can represent purity in some societies and mourning in other countries," she adds.

Still, you may feel a certain way about these colors.

"In environments dominated by achromatic colors, people sometimes report feeling emotionally muted simply because there is less visual stimulation, like in prisons or offices," she explains. "But this does not mean someone who prefers these colors has lower emotional intelligence… it simply highlights how much context and culture influence our interpretation of color."

Plus, selecting an achromatic color may have been done with great intent.

"From a color analysis perspective, black, gray and white are often chosen for their neutrality and structure rather than emotional expression," she states. "They create contrast and clarity in clothing and design, but because they lack chroma, they don’t stimulate the same emotional responses that saturated hues do."
