Will Ferrell Just Upstaged Kim Kardashian on Her Own Netflix Movie Set

Sun, 03/08/2026 - 8:39am

Kim Kardashian has spent three years building toward a movie career, and the photos that surfaced this week from a Los Angeles street corner may be the clearest signal yet that the project is real and moving fast.

On March 4, Peoplemagazine reported that Kardashian and Will Ferrellwere spotted filming an outdoor chase sequence for The Fifth Wheel, an upcoming Netflix comedy directed by Eva Longoria. Kardashian was in full costume: a red-and-black bejeweled corset bodysuit, long red opera gloves, a feathered headpiece, and a satin-lined cape. Ferrell, standing nearby, was nearly unrecognizable in a long blond wig, shaggy beard, sheer-sleeved crushed velvet vest, black leather pants, silver rings on every finger. A purple car idling at the curb had the words 'Brad La Cadabra the Amazing Amazement' printed across the side.

We don't know very much about this movie, but what we do know is that whatever this movie is, it's not subtle.

The Fifth Wheel, written by Paula Pell (Sisters, A.P. Bio) and Janine Brito, follows a group of high school friends reuniting for a Las Vegas weekend. Kardashian plays a glamorous visitor, described in production materials as a 'hot outsider', who crashes the trip and forces the group to reckon with the lives they've built. Ferrell's role is a surprise addition as Netflix had listed him only as a producer through his Gloria Sanchez banner. The on-set photos from March 4 are the first confirmation he took on a role in front of the camera. His character's full name suggests a magician or entertainer of some kind, which fits the Vegas setting.

The ensemble around them is substantial: Nikki Glaser, Brenda Song, Fortune Feimster, Jack Whitehall, Casey Wilson, Scott MacArthur, and 50 Cent, who filmed scenes at Exchange LA in downtown Los Angeles in February. Longoria is directing and producing alongside Kardashian, Ferrell, and a production team that includes Picturestart's Erik Feig and Julia Hammer, Jessica Elbaum, and MGA Entertainment's Isaac Larian.

For Kardashian, the stakes seem pretty high. Her previous scripted work, Ryan Murphy's American Horror Story: Delicate and the Hulu legal drama All's Fair, drew criticism sharp enough that she described feeling 'overwhelmed' in a January 21 interview on the Khloé in Wonder Land podcast. The Fifth Wheel is her first leading role in a feature film, and she is also producing it, meaning her fingerprints are on both the creative and business sides. Filming began January 21 and is scheduled to wrap March 11. Netflix has not announced a release date, though production materials suggest a 2027 arrival.

Turn Your Home Into a ‘Bridgerton’ Dream With These Easy Touches

Sun, 03/08/2026 - 8:15am

Dearest gentle readers, as we delve deeper into the winter of 2026, there has perhaps never been a better time to escape to an ethereal dreamland. Thankfully, Bridgerton has returned for its fourth fairytale-inspired season (part two just dropped), and we're getting all too invested in Benedict's lady in silver. Plus, the new episodes double down on the show's signature Regencycore aesthetics. Mayfair's pastel color palette, gilded accents and romantic damasks offer the perfect inspiration for a spring interior refresh.

"At Vivid, we sometimes channel Bridgerton’s Regency romance with soft pastels like powder blue and blush pink on walls," offers interior designer Mirian Oliveira of Vivid Decor. "Then add velvet cushions, silk drapes, gilded mirrors and floral wallpapers. The design would be finished with a crystal chandelier, blending antiques with modern pieces for timeless elegance."

Whether you're looking for a whole-home refresh or a few opulent accents, read on to pull off a room worthy of Queen Charlotte.

What Is Regencycore?

Regencycore was coined shortly after Bridgerton's debut in 2021. Covering both fashion and interior design, this aesthetic is inspired by the romantic elegance and opulent nature of early-nineteenth-century Britain. While fashion elements include puffed sleeves and corsets, Regencycore interior design spans curvaceous furniture, gilded accents, crystal chandeliers and pastel wallpaper. And much like the show itself, this design movement favors a modern (and often over-the-top) interpretation of this time period rather than strict historical accuracy.

The Bridgerton Color Palette

The show communicates a lot through the colors of its sets. Bridgerton House favors soft, romantic pastels like pale blues, greens and creams. Meanwhile, the Featheringtons are known for brighter, more acidic tones. In season four, Penwood House is designed in pale creams to highlight Lady Araminta's perfectionism. Recreate the signature vibe with creamy pastels, soft neutrals, and hits of gold.

Add Wallpaper

The quickest way to create an immersive, Recencycore room is with wallpaper. For patterns, think damask, painterly florals or Chinoiserie designs. This Portobello Parade paper pulls inspiration directly from the Regency period, inspired by London's most unusual pets for a dash of whimsy.

Bring in Opulence

For furniture, opt for Regency-inspired silhouettes with concave curves in dark, polished woods like mahogany, zebrawood or rosewood. Saber legs, claw-and-ball feet and brass paws add to the mystique. Upholstery favors rich fabrics like silk or velvet, and you can go full Bridgerton with rich blues or soft pastels.

"It is important to embrace symmetry," notes Oliveira. "Pair armchairs by a fireplace, and add gold accents like brass candelabras."

Finish With Luxe Lighting

Lighting is an easy way to instantly transform a room in a big way. Regencycore fixtures are defined by opulence, romance and symmetry. Since Bridgerton is set before electricity, candle-inspired chandeliers and sconces enhance the vibe. For materials, think brass, gilt, crystal and wrought iron.

Accessorize With Flair

To style your home like Lady Whistledown on a budget, opt for Regencycore accessories. For inspiration, look no further than the Williams Sonoma x Bridgerton collection. Transform your eat-in kitchen to a high tea haven with a floral tablecloth, a gilded cake stand and opulent bud vases filled with fresh flowers. The more gold, ornate details and flora and fauna, the better. Mix contemporary items with thrifted treasures, like a China tea set.

Then, in your living spaces, turn to soft, feminine items (like velvet curtains) to layer in regal elements. "The use of damask patterns on pillows and soft lighting can add to intimacy," Oliveira adds. "And, don't forget to personalize with family art to make it yours."

1975 Classic Was a No. 1 Hit 51 Years Ago Today

Sun, 03/08/2026 - 8:12am

On March 8, 1975, Olivia Newton-John scored one of the biggest hits of her career when "Have You Never Been Mellow" reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The song, written and produced by longtime collaborator John Farrar, became Newton-John’s second consecutive No. 1 hit on the pop charts and helped cement her place as one of the most successful crossover stars of the 1970s.

Released as the title track from her 1975 album Have You Never Been Mellow, the song blended pop, country and soft rock influences—a signature sound that made Newton-John a staple of both pop and country radio during the decade.

The single spent one week at No. 1 on the Hot 100, but its impact extended well beyond the pop chart. "Have You Never Been Mellow" also reached No. 1 on the Adult Contemporary chart and climbed to No. 3 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, underscoring Newton-John’s broad crossover appeal.

A Major Moment in Olivia Newton-John’s Career

"Have You Never Been Mellow" arrived during one of the most successful periods of Newton-John’s career.

Just months earlier, she had topped the charts with the ballad "I Honestly Love You." With the success of "Have You Never Been Mellow," Newton-John became one of the dominant voices of mid-1970s pop music.

The song also helped propel the album Have You Never Been Mellow to the top of the Billboard 200, making Newton-John one of the few artists at the time to simultaneously dominate both the singles and album charts.

Over the course of her career, Newton-John would go on to score numerous hits, including "Please Mr. Please," "Magic," and the global smash "Physical," not to mention all of her hits from the 1978 film Grease with John Travolta.

Newton-John died in August 2022 at the age of 73 after a long battle with breast cancer.

Viking Reverses Decision on Egypt Cruises Following Updated Travel Guidance

Sun, 03/08/2026 - 8:10am

While much of the cruise industry is pulling back from the Middle East, Viking is making a surprising—and counterintuitive—about-face. Just days after announcing it would cancel its Nile River departures for the remainder of March, the line has reversed course, announcing it will resume operations on March 12, 2026.

This move makes Viking the most prominent outlier in a region where other major operators are still hitting the "pause" button. Here is the context behind the decision and what it means for travelers looking at the Nile this spring.

Related: Popular Cruise Line Announces Its Going Adults-Only in 2026

The Decision to Reverse

Viking’s initial cancellation came on the heels of escalating war between the U.S. and Iran, which triggered a wave of travel warnings. However, after further monitoring of the conflict and discussions with "longtime ground operators in Egypt," the line decided to reinstate its voyages.

The primary driver for the reversal was a closer look at the official guidance. In a statement, Viking explained: "The official travel advisories have been clarified, and the current advisory for Egypt remains the same as it was prior to the start of the recent conflict."

Related: Airlines Are Prepping for Record Spring Breaks—But Is It Safe to Travel?

The "Level 2" Distinction

The confusion stems from a March 2 post on X (formerly Twitter) by the State Department’s Assistant Secretary for Consular Affairs, which advised Americans in several Middle Eastern countries—including Egypt—to "depart now." Despite that high-level nudge, the formal State Department travel advisory for Egypt never actually moved past Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution.

For context, that is the same advisory level currently held by popular destinations like the U.K. and France. While specific areas like Northern Sinai remain under a "Level 4: Do Not Travel" warning, those restrictions have been in place for years and are far removed from the standard Nile cruise routes. On March 4, the U.S. Embassy in Cairo further stabilized the situation, stating it is "operating normally."

A Divided Industry

Viking’s move stands in stark contrast to its competitors, many of whom are still opting for an "abundance of caution." As of this week:

  • Avalon Waterways: Has ceased all Egypt operations through March 31.
  • Tauck: Canceled its Jewels of the Nile itinerary through March 15 and paused its Jordan & Egypt tours for the month.
  • AmaWaterways: While it is continuing its Nile river cruises, it has suspended its Jordan and Dubai land extensions through the end of March.

With eight ships currently in the region, Viking remains the largest Western operator on the Nile. For now, the line is moving forward with its scheduled departures, provided the "clarified" travel advisories for the region remain unchanged.

Hershey’s Brand-New Candy Launch Is a 'First-Ever' Release

Sun, 03/08/2026 - 8:08am

The Hershey Company has a brand-new candy launch heading to stores this spring, and it's bound to get the attention of nostalgic treat lovers.

For those who have ever chewed Bubble Yum, you know the vibe: the soft, rectangular bubble gum pieces we couldn't get away from during childhood, and once chewed, they practically never lost their flavor. That cotton candy sensation lingered all day long.

Now, the 1973-introduced candy is getting a makeover with the launch of a first-ever release for the brand: lollipops. Debuting "a new way to blow your bubble," the company shared details of the drop on its official website, describing the treat as a crunchy candy shell hiding a soft, chewy bubble gum center—on a stick, of course.

Releasing in four tantalizing flavors, Green Apple, Strawberry, Watermelon, and Cotton Candy, the news is already spreading fast across social media.

View this post on Instagram

"Can’t wait to get these! That cotton candy hits everytime 😋," one Instagram user commented under trusted food blogger Markie Devo's post featuring the item on Saturday, March 7.

"Ooooh i need the cotton candy one….ya know, for nostalgic purposes 🤓," another chimed in, while a third agreed, "Omg need to try these out now! Cotton candy was my all time favorite 😍."

Someone else couldn't help but recall the "Child hood memories of eating gum 😂😍," and another person admitted there will be trouble when they find them in-store: "Awl man 😍😍😍 when I get my hands on these!"

"The early 2000s coming back fr," yet another insisted, prompting a direct response from Devo, who echoed that sentiment by concurring, "for sure."

Bubble Yum bubble gum-filled lollipops are available on Amazon for $5.59 per 8.8-ounce assorted bag. The release is currently heading to major stores now, according to the social media upload.

Aldi’s Pretty Floral 2-Pack Kitchen Tool Set Will Make It Feel Like You’re Cooking in a Storybook Garden

Sun, 03/08/2026 - 8:05am

There are some kitchen tools you typically need to replace every year or so, no matter how well you take care of them. I'm talking about things like vegetable peelers, graters and zesters. Basically, without a way to sharpen these items like you would your knives, they become dull and inefficient. Even Ina Garten will tell you to replace your zester regularly, and if you can't trust Ina, who can you trust?

Normally, I try to make my kitchenware last as long as possible, but I'm on board with swapping out my zester right now because Aldi is selling replacements in the prettiest prints (and at really great prices). Yes, I'm a sucker for a great print.

Crofton 2-Pack Floral Print Hand Graters, $3.99 at Aldi

Aldi

Aldi is selling a two-pack of hand graters in a lovely floral print that's perfect for spring. And, get this, the set is only $3.99—that's less than $2 per grater. The retailer is also selling the same set in a lemon-print version, in case you're going for a more Amalfi Coast vibe with your kitchen tools.

A long grater (the microplane-style one) and a rectangular grater can both pull bright flavor from citrus peel, but they do it a little differently. The long grater has super-fine teeth that create light, fluffy zest that basically melts into whatever you're making—perfect for baking, dressings or finishing a dish. It's also ideal for turning garlic into a fine paste and for grating hard cheeses like Parmesan or a little nutmeg.

Related: Aldi's Chic $15 Shirtdress Looks Just Like an Anthropologie Style 13x the Price

A rectangular grater produces slightly thicker strips, which work well when you want the citrus to stand out more, such as in a garnish or in a cocktail. Some versions can also handle a coarser shred of cheese. Having both gives you options depending on how subtle—or bold—you want that flavor to be.

Aldi is introducing so many goodies right now—like a new line of cheesecakes that would make the Golden Girls proud and a "pizza soup" that's kind of dividing shoppers. On top of that, it brought back some fan favorites, including its beloved pork tamales and a decadent macaroni cheese pizza—just a few things to check out while you're picking up your cutesy new graters.

Heart’s Nancy Wilson Is Still Campaigning for This Star to be Inducted into the Rock Hall

Sun, 03/08/2026 - 8:00am

The 2026 nominees for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame were announced on Feb. 25. Among them, the Black Crowes, Jeff Buckley, Mariah Carey, Phil Collins and several others. Yet Nancy Wilson of Heart is campaigning for another star not on the list to get inducted as well this year.

Wilson, who was inducted along with her sister Ann as members of Heart in 2013, is calling for SiriusXM radio personality Howard Stern to be inducted into the Rock Hall. She started the push back in 2025 and has once again picked up the ball and is pushing for Stern, and she got the radio host’s attention.

🎬 SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬

On his show last week, Stern said he was flattered by Wilson’s efforts because he’s not only a fan of her music and guitar player, but he’s had sexual fantasies about her.

“She’s fantastically hot and a great guitar player and wrote those songs with her sister… and this is the weirdest thing ever in my life, Nancy Wilson and her husband are hell bent on me getting into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame,” Stern said.

The radio personality added that he had seen Wilson’s Instagram post in which she’s wearing a bootleg Howard Stern t-shirt--since he has no official merch--and is making a case for Stern’s inclusion.

In the clip, Wilson acknowledges that the nominees for this year’s induction were recently announced. “And while Howard's not on this list, I'm a big fan of Howard Stern, as you can see. And there's another list coming up that would include him in a special category that they're voting for still.  So, I suggest that you all talk about putting him on the special list for this year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Let’s go!”

With his co-host Robin Quivers and producer Gary Dell’Abate, Stern discussed his chances of receiving the honor. “There’s a special category for douche bags like me, who are music industry adjacent,” he said.

“It’s called the Ahmet Ertegun Award, for people who have contributed to music either through business or outside of being a musician,” Dell’Abate explained.

“They needed to come up with a category for people with no musical talent. And Nancy Wilson's like, ‘Howard should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 'cause he's done more for music, playing records and promoting…’ I was quite honored.”

Stern suggested other stars are also offering support, including his friend Jon Bon Jovi, who Stern inducted into the Rock Hall in 2018.

Dell’Abate added that there are others who are on the nominating committee who are fans, including Jimmy Jam, Tom Morello and Little Steven Van Zandt, who could also support the effort. “You got friends,” Quivers said. “You’ve got votes,” Dell’Abate added.

The conversation then turned to who should induct Stern, should he receive the honor. Dave Grohl, Bon Jovi and Nancy Wilson came up as possibilities. “Maybe a group of people,” Stern said. “Nancy Wilson, Ed Vedder, Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards together.”

Another option also came up. “I could go the comedy route and pull  out Beetlejuice from the moth balls and have them go out,” Stern added, not referring to the film character but a longtime member of his Wack Pack, who hasn’t appeared on the show in years.

Then again, Stern began to doubt he’ll get inducted. After playing Wilson’s Instagram clip on the air, he added, “I love Nancy Wilson more than anybody, but does she carry any weight? Like is anyone paying attention to this Instagram beside me?”

Chappell Roan’s Red Carpet Outfit Features Unexpected Twist: 'Pantless Dream'

Sun, 03/08/2026 - 7:30am

Chappell Roan knows how to command attention on the red carpet, whether by setting boundaries with the media or stepping out in bold fashion.

In her recent public appearance, the rising pop star made another memorable entrance after attending Vivienne Westwood’s Fall/Winter 2026 show in Paris Fashion Week.

With all the glitz, glam and trendy looks at the biannual fashion event, the “Hot to Go!” hitmaker made another head-turning moment after gracing the red carpet with a fashionable but risqué ensemble.

Bringing her signature theatrical flair to the show, Roan arrived in a gray Victorian-style look.

The dress featured a voluminous ballgown-inspired skirt but made it modern with padded shoulders, a plunging V neckline and a corset-like cinched waist.

While the front showcased a fully covered silhouette, the Grammy-winning artist surprised everyone with an unexpected reveal at the back, with a rear-baring detail leaving her black lace undergarment subtly exposed and styled with sheer tights.

One even called this a “pantless dream,” noting, “She wears with confidence what is essentially my ‘pantless dream.’ I’m out in the world and I have to keep my top down to cover my junk, but there is no changing that I am without pants.”

Another commenter pointed out how Roan embodied the signature style of the designer, saying, “Very appropriate for a Vivienne Westwood show. She always understands the assignment wherever she goes.”

Meanwhile, a follower seemed taken aback by the singer’s surprise but still found it pleasantly delightful.

“Wasn’t prepared for the business in the front party in the back type beat, but it was a very pleasant surprise,” the person remarked.

As mentioned, the “Good Luck, Babe!” singer previously set the internet ablaze after stepping on the 2026 Grammy Awards red carpet in an almost naked look.

The custom Mugler dress, which was a revival of the 1998 piece designed by the late Manfred Thierry Mugler, featured a flowy burgundy draped cowl neckline and a long, fluid train with nipple rings used to support the neckline.

Steve Carell’s Net Worth in 2026 Is Way More Than the Average 'Office' Worker

Sun, 03/08/2026 - 7:30am

Anyone familiar with The Office knows that Michael Scott’s finances were never in the best shape (cue the “I declare bankruptcy” scene). But Steve Carell has had a much more successful career in Hollywood than his wayward Dunder Mifflin counterpart—and it shows in his net worth. The multi-hyphenate has come a long way since growing up in Acton, Mass., where he was raised with three brothers.

“We were not a wealthy family, and both my parents worked; my mom worked nights,” Carell told Parade in 2018. “It was all about us, and that resonated with me.”

Since kicking off his acting career, Carell has seamlessly transitioned from TV to film, back to TV, and even to Broadway—making his debut there in 2024 in the Lincoln Center Theater's production of Anton Chekov's Uncle Vanya

The Oscar-nominated actor has proven that he has both dramatic and comedic acting chops, with memorable roles in many movies, most recently Asteroid City in 2023 and IF and Despicable Me 4 in 2024.

From his days on The Office to his Broadway debut, here is everything you need to know about Carell’s career, including his estimated net worth.

Related: Why Did Steve Carell Leave 'The Office'? The Real Story Behind Michael Scott's Exit

How did Steve Carell become famous?

Carell got his start on The Dana Carvey Show in 1996, after training with the Second City comedy troupe in Chicago. Although the show was short-lived, he gained recognition for his work and earned a role as a correspondent for The Daily Show in 1999. He worked there for several years and kicked off his movie career with memorable roles in Bruce Almighty (2003) and Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004).

But it was 2005 that is widely considered to be Carell’s breakout year. He was cast in The Office TV series and appeared in The 40-Year-Old Virgin, which made him a household name and catapulted his star power. The Office went on to become one of the most successful comedies of all time, earning Carell a Golden Globe Award and six Emmy nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.

His movie career also flourished throughout his seven seasons on the show. He starred in Little Miss Sunshine (2006), Evan Almighty (2007), Dan in Real Life (2007), Get Smart (2008), Date Night (2010) and Dinner for Schmucks (2010), and others. Among many successful live action movie endeavors, Carell’s most surprisingly successful role was as Gru in Despicable Me (2010). The animated kids comedy spawned three sequels and two blockbuster Minions spinoffs. The franchise has proven to be one of Carell’s most reliable gigs over the past 14 years.

When Carell announced his departure from The Office, people were shocked.

“I will miss all my friends,” he told Parade after the bombshell announcement. “We’ve known each other now for seven, eight years. I mean, it’s been a long time since the time we shot the pilot until now, so that’s by far what I’ll miss the most, the friendships that I’ve gained there.”

After his final episode in 2011, Carell made Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011) and Foxcatcher (2014), the latter of which earned him an Oscar nomination. He began taking on more dramatic movie roles, including The Big Short (2015), Battle of the Sexes (2017) and Beautiful Boy (2018). He also made his return to TV (this time, streaming services) with The Morning Show, Space Force, The Patient and The Four Seasons.

Steve Carell’s estimated net worth is $100 million in 2026. In addition to his movie and TV credits, Carell has appeared in commercials for Pepsi, Honda and AT&T, among other ad spots.

How much did Steve Carell make for The Office?

In a report released ahead of Carell’s seventh (and final) season of The Office, TV Guide pegged his salary at $297,000 per episode. He appeared in 22 of the season’s 26 episodes, putting his estimated earnings at more than $6.5 million for his final run as Michael Scott. He was also a producer, which means that he likely earned additional fees on the backend (and continues to earn revenue via syndication). Vulture put his original salary for the show at $50,000 to $75,000 per episode.

‘I’m an Endocrinologist, and This Is the #1 Coffee Order I Recommend for Stable Blood Sugar'

Sun, 03/08/2026 - 7:25am

If you were told to monitor your blood sugar because you are one of the more than 100 million U.S. adults with prediabetes or Type 2 diabetes, you may have cut back on cookies, candies, ice cream and sugary sodas. Ditto if you were tired of the extreme energy swings you get on a day when your sweet tooth gets the best of you. That's an excellent start. However, an endocrinologist notes that you may benefit from taking it a step further.

"Blood sugars are not impacted by sweets alone," states Dr. Disha Narang, MD, a board-certified endocrinologist and the director of obesity medicine with Endeavor Health. "Most foods and drinks we consume can in some way impact blood sugars...Certain things contain carbs that we don’t even realize, from whole fruits to dairy products."

Gulp. We often add dairy products, such as cow's milk, to our coffee. You may have been willing to go lighter on cakes and cookies (with a slightly sour taste in your mouth), but consider coffee a bridge too far. Coffee may wake you up, help you power through your to-dos, pick you up and out of an afternoon slump and serve as a cherished ritual.

As an endocrinologist, Dr. Narang doesn't say you have to quit coffee to manage blood sugar per se. However, she does have a pick for the best coffee or blood sugar management. Here's her top coffee order for stable blood sugar.

The Best Coffee Order for Stable Blood Sugar, an Endocrinologist Says

One 2025 study suggests people who sipped black coffee daily had a lower risk of developing Type 2 diabetes. If the data has you feeling a bit bitter—you may need milk and sugar in your coffee—we get it. But Dr. Narang agrees that black coffee is your safest bet for stable blood sugar.

"Specialty coffee drinks can contain upwards of 30-50 grams of carbs, which sometimes is enough carbs that one would eat in a full meal," she says. "In a large latte, we are...looking at multiple sources of added sugars, which will absolutely increase overall blood sugars."

And that's a problem. Added sugars are a type of carb, but naturally occurring carbohydrates (like those found in whole fruits and even milk) can also increase blood sugar.

"Any form of carbohydrate is broken down into glucose in the bloodstream," Dr. Narang explains. "When there is a higher level of glucose in the bloodstream, the pancreas releases insulin to help bring the blood sugar level down by moving the glucose from the blood into cells."

That doesn't mean you can't have carbs—you need them. But balance is critical.

"Overall, higher carbohydrate intake leads to higher blood sugar spikes and increased insulin secretion," she says. "This process can lead to insulin resistance, where someone’s body does not readily respond to insulin’s function as well as it may have before."

Dr. Narang shares that the number of insulin-producing cells in the pancreas can start to decrease. "By the time someone gets diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, over 50% of beta cells—the insulin-producing cells—no longer produce insulin."

As a result, the condition is harder to manage.

Why Black Coffee Is the Best Drink for Blood Sugar Stabilization

One or more sources of sugar are found in any cup of joe besides black coffee. This makes them a recipe for blood sugar swing in the short-term, and they also increase prediabetes and Type 2 diabetes risk if you drink them regularly. So, stick with us and see why black coffee is the sweetest selection for your pancreas.

  • Black coffee doesn't contain dairy cream or milk. Even ordering a cup of coffee with skim milk will count toward your carb intake. Ditto for creamers (and low-fat or whole milk). "Milk contains lactose, which is a natural sugar," Dr. Narang states. "Whether sugar is natural or not, however, it will still spike one’s blood sugar." For some people, the blood sugar increase from milk in coffee won't be a big deal, but people with prediabetes or Type 2 diabetes will want to be particularly mindful.
  • There are no non-dairy creamers (which may not be better). As for non-dairy creamers, she says they may have added oils or sugars. She suggests checking the nutrition information before you add them to your coffee.
  • You'll consume no added sugar. Sugar (which includes flavored syrups, aka "liquid sugar," Dr. Narang says) will probably spike your blood sugar.
  • You'll nix artificial sweeteners. Some artificial sweeteners, like Stevia, aren't known to spike blood sugar, but Dr. Narang says they may affect your gut health and ability to regulate your appetite (which can cause you to load up on sweets later). "As with everything, it’s important to consume in moderation," she advises.
  • You'll sip fewer calories. Without the add-ins, black coffee has around 5 calories per cup. "Calories from sugar-sweetened beverages can absolutely increase blood sugars and insulin resistance, and in turn lead to weight gain, which impacts long-term metabolic and cardiovascular health," Dr. Narang states.

Wait—Does Caffeine Raise Blood Sugar?

"For many patients, caffeine, even from a black coffee, can cause a spike in their blood sugars," Dr. Narang says.

In fact, she has patients who need to take insulin to manage their blood sugar after consuming caffeinated beverages, including energy drinks, specialty coffee beverages and, yes, black coffee. "While some people do not have an effect from black coffee, those who do use various additions may see changes in their blood sugars as a result," she says.

One Nutrients study published in 2020 indicated a possible link between caffeine and insulin resistance. Insulin resistance occurs when the body struggles to respond to insulin, prompting the pancreas to produce more of the hormone and making it harder to manage blood sugar.

What To Do if Black Coffee Isn’t Your Thing

If you simply can't stomach black coffee (hey, many of us can't!) Dr. Narang shares that there are other ways to add a little something to your coffee without significantly spiking blood sugar. The keyword is little, though.

"Our taste buds are malleable," she says. "Reducing sugar or flavored syrup gradually may help to reset your taste buds."

She adds that cinnamon can sweeten your cup without the massive sugar rush on your pancreas. Plus, research suggests that consuming a balanced meal that includes protein can help manage blood sugar swings from caffeinated beverages. Members of your care team, such as a primary care doctor or endocrinologist, can share more personalized tips for managing blood sugar. They can also refer you to a registered dietitian.

I Made Swedish Meatballs That Taste Just Like IKEA's

Sun, 03/08/2026 - 7:20am

As a homeowner in her 30s, one of my favorite weekend plans is heading to IKEA for lunch and a little retail therapy. There’s something magical about a day trip to the Swedish furniture oasis. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by the sweet aroma of freshly baked cinnamon rolls—and the pure thrill of shopping for perfect home finds. Taking a break to lunch in the food court is always a highly anticipated treat—after all, shopping can work up quite the appetite! And every IKEA regular knows that means one thing: Ordering Swedish meatballs is non-negotiable.

What makes digging into IKEA's Swedish meatballs such a staple during the shopping experience? According to the retailer, the number one meal in Sweden is meatballs paired with mashed potatoes and cream sauce—and they are truly heavenly.

“For almost 40 years, we've been serving up our very own version of the classic Swedish meatball to hungry IKEA shoppers," IKEA states on its website. "Over the years, our iconic balls have evolved, but one thing that's never changed is their delicious taste."

But alas, not everyone lives super close to IKEA—myself included. While IKEA does sell frozen meatballs, I was eager to find the next best thing to the in-store experience: a copycat recipe I could prepare whenever I craved the meatballs, without needing to drive an hour to the store. I tried Nagi Maehashi’s (of RecipeTin Eats) copycat IKEA Swedish meatball recipe, and now it’s a family favorite in my regular rotation.

What Are IKEA Swedish Meatballs and Why Do People Love Them?

IKEA’s Swedish meatballs are exactly what comes to mind when I think of simple comfort food—and fans agree. One IKEA shopper commented on the chain’s frozen meatballs, “One of the key ingredients to a simple supper,” while another wrote, “The goodness of this product is in the ingredients list. It is short and simple. IKEA meatballs do not contain unhealthy or unnecessary ingredients such as I have found in other brands.”

What brings IKEA’s Swedish meatballs to the next level—and sets them apart from classic meatballs—is the addition of ground nutmeg and All Spice powder, which deliver a truly addictive sweetness. They pair perfectly with lingonberry jam—a traditional side IKEA serves them with—which further enhances the sweetness of the meat while adding a hint of tart.

The creamy gravy adds to the coziness of this dish. The meatballs are cooked directly in the heavy-cream gravy, helping them achieve an incredibly moist consistency.

To prepare copycat IKEA Swedish meatballs, you’ll need to grab several items from the store: white sandwich bread, a white or yellow onion, 10 ounces of ground beef, 10 ounces of ground pork (which could be subbed with more ground beef), egg, ground nutmeg, All Spice powder, black pepper, salt and oil.

For the gravy, you’ll need unsalted butter, flour, beef stock or broth, and heavy cream.

How Do You Make Copycat IKEA Swedish Meatballs?

Begin by removing the crusts from the white sandwich bread. Then, chop the bread into small cubes.

Grate the onion with a standard box grater over a large mixing bowl, making sure to scrape the grated onion into the bowl.

Add the cubed bread to the bowl, and mix well. After mixing, the bread should have a soggy consistency.

Add the remaining ingredients—ground beef, ground pork, egg, ground nutmeg, All Spice powder, black pepper and salt. Mix until thoroughly combined.

Next, it’s time to form the meatballs. Use a tablespoon or ice cream scooper to scoop out the mixture, and then roll the meatball with your hands. The mixture should make roughly 25 to 30 meatballs.

Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add half of the meatballs to the skillet to brown all over (they don't have to be cooked all the way through at this point); this should take about three minutes. Remove them from the pan, and add in the next batch.

Once the meatballs are browned, lower the heat to medium to prepare the gravy. Melt the butter in the skillet. Then, add the flour and stir well, cooking for one minute. Add about ¼ of the beef broth, then gradually stir in the rest.

Copycat IKEA Swedish Meatballs Recipe: My Honest Thoughts

This recipe hits the spot no matter the time of year, but I find it to be particularly cozy in the winter when comfort food cravings are at an all-time high. Coming from a passionate Italian family who has a beloved Sunday sauce tradition—and a meatball recipe passed down for generations—I was pleasantly surprised by just how much I loved this sweeter spin on the meatballs I grew up eating.

These copycat IKEA Swedish meatballs are incredibly simple to prepare and make for a deliciously hearty meal all on their own. That said, I’d love to try them served over egg noodles for a particularly delightful dinner. Maehashi also recommends pairing them with mashed potatoes—or cauliflower mash for a healthier, low-carb twist. They would even make a stellar dinner party appetizer, served sans gravy and passed around with toothpicks.

Final Takeaways

A blend of pork and beef gives these Swedish meatballs their authentic taste. That said, Maehashi confirms in her recipe that it’s entirely okay to use all beef (as I did) or all pork, based on what you can find at the grocery store. You can also prepare Swedish meatballs with ground turkey or chicken.

As for other substitutions, while many copycat recipes call for heavy cream, Maehashi points out that sour cream or yogurt can also be used. It all comes down to personal preference. I'm personally a fan of the heavy cream.

Princess Cruises Quietly Raises a Fee Affecting All Guests

Sun, 03/08/2026 - 7:10am

If you have a vacation with Princess Cruises on the calendar, you might want to double-check your pre-cruise "to-do" list. The line has officially adjusted the pricing for one of its most popular convenience perks and the change could mean a higher bill for families who like to breeze through the terminal.

As of late February 2026, the cruise line has effectively doubled the cost of shipping its signature "Medallions" to guests' homes ahead of their sailing. These quarter-sized wearable devices act as your room key, boarding pass and onboard credit card. While having them delivered to your front door is a great way to save time at the port, it now comes with a steeper price tag: $20 for residents in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, and $25 for those in Canada.

Perhaps most surprising for loyalists is that this fee now applies across the board. Previously, guests who upgraded to the "Plus" or "Premier" inclusive packages enjoyed free shipping as part of their bundle. However, that practice has been discontinued, with the cruise line stating the adjustment was necessary to "align pricing and ensure continued high-quality, reliable shipping services."

Related: Princess Cruises' New Specialty Dining Push is Turning It Into a Foodie Favorite

The "Green Lane" vs. "Blue Lane" Trade-off

For many travelers, the extra $20 is a small price to pay for "Green Lane" status. When you have your Medallion in hand before leaving the house, you’ve essentially completed the "Fast Pass" version of check-in, allowing you to head straight toward the gangway.

Choosing not to pay the fee puts you in the "Blue Lane." While you still complete your paperwork on the app, you’ll have to make a pit stop at a terminal station to pick up your device before you can step foot on the ship. While Princess confirms that port pickup remains completely free, some frequent cruisers are already weighing whether the convenience of home delivery is worth the "ridiculous" new cost, especially for Canadian travelers facing exchange rates.

Is It Worth the Splurge?

Whether you choose to shell out the cash or wait in the terminal line, the technology remains the same once you're onboard. The Medallions allow crew members to find you to deliver a drink anywhere on the ship and automatically unlock your cabin door as you approach.

If you're looking to keep your vacation budget tight, the free port pickup is a simple way to save. Just be sure to arrive during your designated appointment window—regardless of which lane you're in, you’ll still get to the pool deck eventually.

'It's a Wonderful Life' Star's Former Palm Springs Home Just Hit the Market—See Inside

Sun, 03/08/2026 - 7:05am

For basically a century, Palm Springs has been the ultimate desert hideaway for celebrities looking to unwind while still living utterly fabulously. As early as the 1920s, Hollywood stars began slipping away from the bustle of Los Angeles for weekends in the sun, where the pace was slower but the glamour was very much intact. Studio contracts at the time even required actors to stay within a certain distance of Hollywood, and Palm Springs just happened to fall neatly inside that boundary. Convenient, right?

Before long, the desert enclave became a playground for the rich and famous. Midcentury homes with sleek lines, sparkling pools and breezy patios popped up across the landscape, creating the kind of effortless indoor-outdoor living that still defines the area today. It wasn't unusual to hear stories of cocktail parties stretching late into the warm desert night, with movie stars lounging poolside in oversized sunglasses.

That easy-going glamour is still part of Palm Springs’ charm today. And every so often, a home with a particularly star-studded past pops back into the spotlight—like the former desert retreat of classic Hollywood icon Donna Reed.

For $5.250M, you can own the stunning property Reed once called home. The five-bedroom, six-bathroom home has all of the charm you'd expect, plus some modern updates you'd expect in 2026.

View this post on Instagram

"Wow! It would be a dream to help design this and not change much," said interior designer Brittny Button in the comments of the Instagram post sharing the listing.

In addition to the bedrooms, the home features a lovely entryway, dining room, powder room, open patio, office, pantry and breakfast area.

What People Are Saying

In the comments of the listing agent's Instagram post, people are super complimentary of Reed's former property.

"It's incredible," says one person. "I snap pics every time the gate is open."

Another chimed in with, "Beautiful old world charm."

There are a few really gorgeous homes on the market that were once owned by household names across the country. Uma Thurman's luxurious Manhattan duplex is up for grabs, and Hulk Hogan's Florida estate is also for sale since the wrestler's passing. Meanwhile, Hollywood legend James Cagney's Beverly Hills mansion has been listed, and HGTV's Leanne Ford is unloading her Venice, Calif. abode, too.

The Dutton Family Tree, Explained: Every Generation From '1883' to 'Yellowstone' and Beyond

Sun, 03/08/2026 - 7:02am

Few families in television history have a legacy as sprawling — or as complicated — as the Duttons. Across 1883, 1923, Yellowstone and now the CBS spinoff Marshals, Taylor Sheridan’s universe traces the rise of the ranching dynasty across more than a century. But with multiple generations, shifting timelines and a growing list of characters, understanding exactly how the Dutton family tree fits together can take a little guidance.

To help make sense of it all, here’s a breakdown of the Dutton lineage from its earliest roots to the present day. Starting with the pioneers who first settled in Montana, the Dutton family tree unfolds generation by generation, revealing how each branch of the clan shapes the next.

The Founders (1883)

The Dutton dynasty begins with James and Margaret Dutton in the series 1883, with the pioneering couple journeying west in search of a new life. Their path across the frontier eventually leads them to Montana, where they establish the land that will become the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch. James and Margaret laid the foundation for the Dutton dynasty.

Key Family Members

James Dutton (Tim McGraw) – The patriarch who leads the family west and claims the land that becomes the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch. He died in 1893 from a gunshot wound suffered after tracking down horse thieves.

Margaret Dutton (Faith Hill) – James’ strong-willed wife who helps guide the family through the dangers of the frontier. She dies in 1894 from hypothermia.

Elsa Dutton (Isabel May) – James and Margaret's teenage daughter, whose perspective narrates much of the story in 1883. Elsa dies from a poisoned arrow shortly after her family reaches Montana.

John Dutton I (Audie Rick) – James and Margaret’s five-year-old son, who survives the journey west and becomes the heir to the family legacy.

Protecting the Ranch (1923)

By the time the story reaches 1923, the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch is established but constantly under threat. Leadership of the family falls to Jacob Dutton, James’s older brother, who has taken over the ranch after the death of James and Margaret. Jacob and his wife, Cara, adopt James and Margaret's children — John and Spencer — and raise them as their own. This is when the Dutton clan begins its long fight to defend the ranch against land developers, economic turmoil, and the shifting realities of the American West.

Key Family Members

Jacob Dutton (Harrison Ford) – James’ brother and the head of the Dutton family during this era.

Cara Dutton (Helen Mirren) – Jacob’s wife and one of the fiercest protectors of the ranch and the family.

John Dutton I (James Badge Dale) – The grown son of James and Margaret, now helping run the ranch. He was killed in 1923 when the ranch was attacked by Scottish sheepherders in a long-running feud.

Jack Dutton (Darren Mann) – John’s son and the next heir to the Dutton dynasty. He's killed by a ranch hand working undercover for a rival of the Duttons.

Spencer Dutton (Brandon Sklenar) – James and Margaret’s younger son who returns to Montana after years abroad. Spencer names his son John II, after his deceased brother.

Alexandra Dutton (Julia Schlaepfer) – Spencer's wife who dies shortly after giving birth to John II due to complications of gangrene.

The Bridge to Modern Day (1944)

Between the events of 1923 and Yellowstone, another generation of Duttons carries the family forward, though much of their story has not yet been fully explored on screen. But it eventually will be in the prequel, 1944, which has been greenlit but hasn't started production. This generation ensures the ranch remains in Dutton hands into the late 20th century.

The key figure connecting the earlier generations to the modern era is John Dutton II (Dabney Coleman in Yellowstone), the son of Spencer Dutton and father of the modern-day patriarch. Aside from Spencer, it would seem likely that viewers would see a few other characters from 1923 and finally get a chance to meet the mother of John Dutton III.

The Modern Duttons (Yellowstone)

The present-day story centers on John Dutton III, the powerful ranch owner determined to protect the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch from outside threats.

Key Family Members

John Dutton III (Kevin Costner) – The modern patriarch and governor of Montana during the last season of Yellowstone.

Lee Dutton (Dave Annable) – The eldest son who dies early in the series.

Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) – John’s fiercely loyal daughter and one of the ranch’s most formidable defenders.

Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) – Though not a Dutton by blood, Rip becomes one of the family’s most trusted protectors. Taken in by John Dutton as a troubled teenager, he grows into a trustworthy ranch foreman and eventually marries Beth Dutton.

Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley) – The adopted son whose complicated relationship with the family drives much of the drama. Jamie dies in the Yellowstone series finale.

Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) – The youngest son who struggles between his loyalty to the ranch and building his own life. Kayce marries Monica Long (Kelsey Asbille), a member of the Broken Rock Reservation. Their son is Tate Dutton (Brecken Merrill), the youngest member of the family and the potential future of the Dutton legacy.

Kayce’s Next Chapter (Marshals)

The newest entry in the Yellowstone universe, Marshals, continues the story through Kayce Dutton as he enters a new chapter working with an elite unit of U.S. Marshals. The Marshals premiere confirms the death of Monica Dutton and expands Kayce’s world beyond the ranch, although the series is still set in Montana.

With Kayce and Tate now carrying the family name forward, the future of the Dutton dynasty is still unfolding.

"Don't You Wanna Stay," was released as a single in November 2010, and later hit No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart in March 2011.

"Today marks 15 years since my duet "Don't You Wanna Stay" hit #1 on the country charts," Aldean, 49, said in his Instagram video message on Saturday. He went on to say that the country-pop crossover hit will "always be a really special one" for him.

Adding that it was a "big song" for his 2010 album My Kinda Party—which also hosted his massive hit song "Dirt Road Anthem"—Aldean described "Don't You Wanna Stay" as "one of those songs that just kind of never went away."

"Don't You Wanna Stay" spent a total of 23 weeks on the Hot Country Songs chart, plus 71 weeks on the Country Digital Sales chart, three of which were spent at No. 1. Aldean and Clarkson's duet also made Billboard's list of the 25 Best Country Love Song Duets Of All Time in 2022, earning the No. 9 spot.

In his video message on Saturday, Aldean sent a "huge thank you" to Clarkson "for jumping on the song with us back in the day."

"Thank you guys so much for taking this song #1 for us 15 years ago...I hope somebody cracks a beer right now and cranks it up so thank you guys," Aldean added in celebration of the milestone.

He concluded the message by telling fans, "See you on the road," referring to his upcoming Songs About Us Tour, set to kick off this summer.

Critics Called This Oscar-Winning Indie Crime Film One of the Best of the '90s—It Debuted 30 Years Ago Today

Sun, 03/08/2026 - 7:00am

Three decades ago, a small, darkly funny crime movie quietly arrived in theaters and ended up becoming one of the most beloved films of the 1990s.

Released in the U.S. on March 8, 1996, the Coen Brothers’ Fargo is officially 30 years old. The film, starring Frances McDormand, William H. Macy, and Steve Buscemi, would go on to become one of the defining crime movies of the decade.

It earned seven Academy Award nominations and ultimately took home two Oscars: Best Original Screenplay for Joel and Ethan Coen and Best Actress for McDormand, whose performance as the determined police chief Marge Gunderson became instantly iconic.

Critics were just as enthusiastic. Legendary film critic Roger Ebert called the movie “one of the best films I've ever seen” and wrote that “films like Fargo are why I love the movies.”

Despite its now-classic status, Fargo was actually a modest production. The dark comedy crime story was made on a relatively small $7 million budget but went on to earn more than $60 million at the worldwide box office.

Despite claiming the events portrayed in the film are based on a true story that took place in Minnesota in 1987, in reality, the Coen brothers created the plot entirely themselves. The “true story” claim was simply a narrative device meant to make viewers lean further into the film’s strange and unsettling world.

And despite its title, none of the movie was actually filmed in Fargo, North Dakota. Most of the production took place in Minnesota.Over the years, Fargo has continued to earn recognition for its cultural impact. In 2006, it was selected for preservation in the Library of Congress’ National Film Registry, an honor reserved for films considered culturally or historically significant. It also went on to inspire the 2014 FX series Fargo, which went on to win a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Limited Series.
