Retired Pima County SWAT commander Bob Krygier says investigators are getting closer to identifying a suspect in the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie.

In an exclusive interview with Parade, Krygier emphasized that detectives are working long hours, following every viable lead, and making progress each day, even if a resolution is not immediate.

"They are 24 hours closer every single day," he tells Parade, highlighting the ongoing efforts to bring the Guthrie family answers and closure. Krygier added that Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos’ comment that investigators are "definitely closer" may be a matter of semantics, but the case is moving forward steadily and carefully, with each day bringing the team closer to a resolution.

"No matter how you look at that statement, the investigators ARE closer every day to ending and solving this case. That doesn't mean it's going to happen in a week, or a month, or even a year, but they are closer today than they were yesterday," Krygier says.

Nancy, 84, has been missing since Sunday, Feb. 1. Despite receiving numerous tips in the case, no leads have led to an arrest and no suspects have been named. The Pima County Sheriff's Department has not been providing the public with as many updates as they were at the beginning of the investigation, which has led some people to believe that the case has gone cold.

Parade spoke with retired FBI special agent Greg Rogers who strongly feels the case is still very much active.

"I am confident there is a good amount of familial research underway concerning the DNA samples found in the residence. There won’t be any press releases concerning that...until a potential suspect is identified," Rogers said.

In 1975, British pop-rock band Jigsaw had their first and only Top 10 hit song in the U.S. with “Sky High.” The song, which was written by bandmates Clive Scott and Des Dyer and featured an orchestral arrangement by conductor Richard Hewson, climbed the charts in the fall of 1975 and peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 on December 6, 1975.

But the success was a long time coming. It took a movie called The Man From Hong Kong (also known in the U.S. as The Dragon Flies) to get Jigsaw’s music noticed internationally nearly a decade after the band first formed. “Sky High” served as the opening theme for the 1975 martial-arts action movie starring one-time James Bond actor George Lazenby.

In an interview published by Record Mirror & Disc, Scott revealed Jigsaw’s Cinderella story regarding the soundtrack song.

“It's quite a story how we came to record the theme music,” the Jigsaw founding member said in the interview. “The film had been completed, but the distributors had wanted a pop single to go with the picture to help publicize it, and MCA didn't think the existing theme music was strong enough.”

“Both David Essex and The Four Tops were approached, but due to contractual difficulties, they couldn't do it, and it was nearing the time for the film's release,” Scott shared. “We were asked to write and record the music, and we had only three days to get it all together. We made demos of two songs and the next day recorded ‘Sky High.’”

Jigsaw had been together for years before they had a hit with ‘Sky High’

In 2022, Dyer, who was the drummer for Jigsaw as well as the lead vocalist on “Sky High,” told  Spiderhands Productions that the band chugged along for a long time before scoring international fame with the movie hit.

“We were going for years …kept putting records out and then finally we got a big hit called ‘Sky High,' which was number one in the Antipodes,” he said in the interview. “And then we packed up in ‘81 … and that was it.”

Dyer previously shared that it meant everything to get that one big hit before Jigsaw’s split in 1981.

“Though we just finished our fifth album and have been together since 1968, you would be surprised what one hit single can do,” he said in the vintage Record Mirror & Disc interview. “It doesn't matter how long you have been around. Without getting that elusive hit, you've never made it.”

Fifty years after “Sky High,” Dyer became part of the musical duo Fingers 'N' Fumbs with Steve Fearn. Scott died in 2009.

More than five decades after its release, one song by Bob Dylan continues to stand tall in rock history. The 1975 track “Tangled Up in Blue” has now been ranked among the greatest classic rock songs ever made, proof that its emotional storytelling and heartbreak themes still resonate with listeners today.

The song recently appeared on a list of the best classic rock songs of all time compiled by Collider, where it stood out not only for its music but also for its deeply personal lyrics. 

Released as the opening track from Dylan’s acclaimed 1975 album Blood on the Tracks, the song has long been seen as one of the most powerful breakup anthems in rock history.

The Story Behind the Classic Breakup Anthem

“Tangled Up in Blue” arrived during a difficult moment in Dylan’s life. The song was written in 1974 during a period of emotional turmoil following his separation from his wife, Sara Dylan. The couple married in 1965 and spent nearly a decade together before their relationship began to fall apart.

Dylan later explained that the song captured years of lived experience. He famously said the track took him “ten years to live and two years to write.” 

The “ten years” referred to his marriage and personal struggles, while the writing process took shape after he stepped away from the spotlight to focus on new music.

Instead of telling a simple story, the song moves across time. The lyrics jump between the past, present and future. They also shift between different points of view, sometimes using “I” and sometimes telling the story from another perspective. 

The idea came partly from Dylan’s painting lessons with art teacher Norman Raeben. Raeben encouraged his students to think about time in a non-linear way. Dylan later applied that concept to his songwriting, creating a narrative where memories and moments blend together.

The result was a song that felt deeply personal yet open to many interpretations. When the track was released as a single, it reached No. 31 on the Billboard Hot 100. While it was not Dylan’s biggest chart hit, critics and fans quickly recognized its brilliance.

Over time, the song became one of Dylan’s most respected works. Many critics describe it as a masterpiece of songwriting because of its poetic lyrics and emotional honesty. The track also helped make Blood on the Tracks one of the most celebrated albums in rock history.

The album itself is often called the ultimate breakup record. It focuses heavily on heartbreak, reflection and relationships falling apart. As the opening track, “Tangled Up in Blue” sets the tone for everything that follows.

Dylan also never stopped changing the song. Over decades of live performances, he rewrote lyrics, shifted perspectives and altered the structure. He has performed the track roughly 1,600 times, and many versions sound different from the original.

Today, the track remains one of the defining moments of Dylan’s long career. Born Robert Zimmerman in Minnesota, Dylan rose to fame in the 1960s folk scene before reshaping rock music with his poetic lyrics and electric sound.

Over the decades, he has released more than 50 albums, written hundreds of songs and influenced countless musicians. His achievements include 10 Grammy Awards, an Academy Award, the Presidential Medal of Freedom and even the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2016.

Still, “Tangled Up in Blue” remains one of the clearest examples of his songwriting genius. The song blends folk storytelling with rock energy while capturing the messy emotions that follow the end of a relationship.

That emotional honesty may be why the track still feels fresh more than 50 years later.

It’s no secret that your shoes, suitcase and cell phone get extremely dirty when traveling. All of these items come in contact with tons of different surfaces as well as other people’s hands, which contain a ton of germs.

They’re also not cleaned very often, which doesn’t fully help the situation. Recently JrPass, a Japanese rail pass company, conducted an experiment to find out what truly is the dirtiest travel item. Surprisingly, it wasn’t any of the things that most people think of.

In a controlled lab experiment, items like coats, phones, luggage, passports and shoes were tested for bacteria. Each of these items were swabbed and then incubated for eight days.

The results revealed that people’s passports held the most amount of bacteria by a complete landslide. The bacteria was measured in CFU, which is colonies formed per unit. The passports were found to have 436 CFUs, while everything else hit below 100 CFUs.

Regular luggage had 97, shoes had 65, hand luggage had 56, phones had 45, and coats had 15. This goes to show that because multiple people touch your passport as you go through various parts of your travel journey, it is simply collecting an impressive amount of bacteria throughout the journey. Plus, people don’t necessarily think to wash their passport like they do other items.

“Our hands are well known to be very well colonised by the bacteria and fungi (and some viruses) that normally live there," Dr. Primrose Freestone, an associate professor in clinical microbiology at the University of Leicester, told Travel + Leisure. "This means that, as well as our resident hand skin microbiome, our hands will, when they touch any surface, pick up additional microbes present within the airport environment, which have the microbial deposits from the thousands of people who pass through each day." As Freestone added, the greater the handling of a passport by different people’s hands, the greater the variety of bacteria, fungi, and even viruses. 

Now that you know this information, think about how many times you’ve stored your plane or train ticket in your passport, opening it over and over to check that it’s there, or handling it when moving throughout your travel day.

Then, in between that, you’ve probably had bites of food and touched your face–giving the bacteria, fungi, and possibly viruses a free ride into your immune system. So, next time you travel, remember to not only sanitize your hands as often as possible, but add wiping down your passport to your cleanliness ritual as well.

On March 8, 1974, The Brady Bunch aired what would be its final episode. The beloved ABCsitcom about a blended family made its debut in September 1969. Five season later, the episode “The Hair-Brained Scheme” gave the series an unceremonious ending—and without one major character.

In the episode, youngest son Bobby (Mike Lookinland) cooks up an idea to sell hair tonic so he can make "a million dollars.” But the get-rich-quick scene fails when his brother Greg (Barry Williams) buys a bottle of the tonic as a favor, and finds that it turns his dark brown hair bright orange—right before his high school graduation. The voice of reason, patriarch Mike Brady (Robert Reed), is nowhere to be seen in the episode amid the mention that he's out of town.

In reality, Reed had requested not to participate in the episode because he thought the plot was preposterous.

In his 2010 book Brady, Brady, Brady: The Complete Story of the Brady Bunch, producer Lloyd Schwartz recalled that Reed, who had a theater background as well as a history of questioning the accuracy of The Brady Bunch scripts, sent a manifesto to producers complaining about the far-fetched episode.

“[Reed] had written another one of his familiar diatribes to the studio which ended with his firm declaration: ‘And that is why I cannot do the episode,'” Schwartz shared. “Robert’s big complaint this time was that hair tonic can’t do that to hair.”

Williams shared Reed’s full letter in his tell-all book Growing Up Brady. After listing a series of “inadequate" scripts, the Mike Brady actor complained, “Once again we are infused with the slapstick. The oldest boy’s hair turns bright orange in a twinkling of a writer’s eye, having been doused with a non-FDA-approved hair tonic.” Reed ended his rant by comparing the script to having Batman on M*A*S*H. “When the kid’s hair turns red, it’s Batman in the operating room," Reed wrote, adding, "I can’t play it.”

And so he didn’t. Series creator Sherwood Schwartz told the Television Academy Foundation that he rewrote the script to cut out Mike Brady’s part and told Reed’s agent that the actor didn’t have to report to work for the episode. He also clarified that Reed would not be paid or receive residuals for the missed episode.

“So we're in the midst of shooting, he shows up, Bob shows up at the stage door,” the showrunner revealed. “I said, 'I said you could take the week off.' He said, 'Well I'm very interested in the show.'"

Schwartz noted that Reed’s presence offstage made everyone uncomfortable, but the producer refused to call security in front of the kid actors.

Unfortunately for Reed and everyone else on the cast, the original Brady Bunch series never had a proper goodbye. During the summer filming break, ABC canceled the series.

On the CW’s TV We Love retrospective, Williams said the cancellation came “out of the blue.” “I was completely blindsided by it,” Williams, now 71, admitted.

He also told Closer Weekly that the Brady Bunch cast had been told there would be a Season 6. “We had been promised that it would go another year. And then they pulled the plug,” Williams said.

Sherwood Schwartz said Robert Reed should have never been cast  in ‘The Brady Bunch’

Sherwood Schwartz once said his only problem on The Brady Bunch set was Reed. While he did credit the late actor for being kind to the rest of the cast, Schwartz told Retrocrush in an interview, “My main problem was with the father. He never should have been on the show to begin with.”

“He thought of himself as a major actor,” TheBrady Bunch creator added. “He was spoiled because he was in a Shakespeare company in England, and he felt he was above TV in general, officially sitcoms. But he had a contract, and he did a great test scene with Florence [Henderson].  I didn’t know all of this background.  I wanted Gene Hackman for that role, a year before The French Connection. …But Paramount had a deal with Robert Reed."

Boat captains shared the history of the site while visitors were invited to pet, hold and even kiss the gentle creatures. The catamaran later anchored at a nearby coral reef, where guests donned snorkel gear and explored the colorful underwater world filled with tropical fish.

With a brief tropical shower rolling in, lunch was prepared and served by chef Sam Anderson, who crafted a three-course meal for the group. Efron even joined in the cooking, demonstrating how to prepare a lobster before placing it on the grill.

Following the excursion, guests returned to the resort for a private four-course dinner with wine pairings at the beachside Saint June restaurant.

The globally inspired meal included Brazilian pan de queso, a white corn tamal inspired by Mexican cuisine, Caribbean rum-glazed maduros and freshly made churros.

For those lucky enough to secure the redemption, the experience proved that sometimes the most memorable trips don’t require thousands of points.

The joke was on Ryan Gosling during his fourth guest-hosting stint on Saturday Night Live. On the March 7 episode of the NBC sketch comedy series, the actor giggled during several previously rehearsed bits. But one sketch was specially designed to break the actor, and the writers pulled it off flawlessly.

In a sketch titled “Note Passing,” Gosling, 45,  played high school principal Mr. Whitt, while SNL featured player Ashley Padilla played teacher, Ms. Perry. In the scene, Gosling’s character addressed a no-bullying policy as students, played by Kam Patterson, Mikey Day, Jane Wickline, and Marcello Hernández, were caught passing notes in class.

But viewers got a newsflash. A message onscreen read: “The contents of these notes have been changed since rehearsal.”

Padilla and Gosling took turns reading previously unseen notes, which turned out to be about their characters. One note was about Ms. Perry’s embarrassing visit to a gynecologist's office, and another was about Principal Whitt missing 133 basketball layups in a row. Another joke note featured a nod to Gosling’s role as Ken in the Barbie movie.

Gosling and Padilla could barely get through the sketch without breaking into laughter, and Gosling even covered his face with his hand in an attempt to hide his giggles.

Fans reacted on social media, with many saying SNL could use more unrehearsed jokes that force the cast members to try not to break.

“WE NEED MORE OF THIS, Ryan was perfect for it 🙌,” one fan wrote on Instagram.

“Mikey smirked and as soon as I read 'the contents of these notes have been changed since rehearsal' I knew they were cooked 💀🥀 this was so devious,” another agreed.

“Changing the notes is diabolical! 😂😂😂,” a third fan chimed in.

“My only question is why doesn't SNL do this format regularly????? When the performers don't know what's coming, it always results in some of the most memorable skits. Keep that same energy @nbcsnl,” another fan wrote.

Gosling went into the show knowing he would likely break character.

During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon two nights earlier, he reflected on his previous three SNL hosting stints. “I get in trouble a lot for laughing on the show,” he admitted to host Jimmy Fallon. “People always bring you into it, so they always go, ‘You know, you laugh too much. You know, you and Fallon.’"

“They take it very seriously,” Gosling added of Saturday Night Live fans.

Can you imagine: a single piece of cardboard, just 2.5 x 3.5 inches in size, being worth 40 times more than the average price of a house?

It’s true—ask Logan Paul, who pocketed a huge payday after selling off a single Pokémoncard. Or ask any Magic: The Gathering player who has glimpsed a pristine Black Lotus card as it sat behind a protective display, wishing they had the millions it would cost to take that card home.

Like Beanie Babies, comic books, and tulips in Holland during the 1600s (really), collectible card games have become big business over the last few years. Perhaps the most outrageous example of this occurred in mid-February, when Paul auctioned off his rare Pikachu Illustrator card from the Pokémon card game for $16.492 million.

The winner bid belonged to AJ Scaramucci, son of financier and former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci. AJ said this purchase was the first part of a “planetary treasure hunt,” as he hopes to also buy a “T. Rex dinosaur fossil [and] the Declaration of Independence,” per the BBC.

WWE star Logan Paul sold his rare Pikachu Illustrator Pokémon card for nearly $16.5 million on Goldin Auctions, setting a world record for the most expensive trading card ever sold at auction.

So, why is this one card literally worth literally forty times more than the median sales price of houses sold in the United States?

There’s an element of scarcity: Pikachu Illustrator cards were issued as part of a contest in 1998, and only 40 are known to exist. In the case of Paul’s card, there’s also an element of perfection: the authentication agency, PSA, awarded his card a Grade 10. It’s the only Illustrator card, according to the agency, that is absolutely flawless. Only eight other Pikachu Illustrator cards have been awarded a PSA Grade 9.

Paul obtained the card in July 2021 by trading a PSA Grade 9 Pikachu Illustrator card (worth $1.275 million) and $4 million in cash. Paul put the card up on Goldin Auctions, along with a diamond-encrusted necklace thrown in. After all is said and done, Paul likely earned more than $8 million in profit after auction fees, according to CNN.

There’s also another element at play here: the collectible card game market has become a hotbed of activity for collectors, traders, scalpers, and practically everyone but those who actually play these games.

The Pokémon card game has been the biggest culprit for the last decade. Pokémon Go, released in 2016, really revitalized the brand for a few years, as everyone used their phones to catch virtual Pokémon in the real world. As Pokémon Go was cooling off, the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and suddenly, an appetite for collectibles rose during lockdowns.

The value of the Pokémon market, after spiking in 2020, went “insane” in 2021, said Joshua Johnson, co-founder of trading card analytics website Card Ladder, to CNN. “What usually ends up happening is the bubble bursts and then we come right back down where we were. That hasn’t happened in Pokémon … It just keeps going up and up.”

Pokémon is not the only game with super expensive cards: Magic: The Gathering famously has its Black Lotus.

Whereas the Pikachu Illustrator card is expensive because it’s rare, the Black Lotus became a sought-after card because it’s incredibly powerful. It’s so powerful that it’s actually banned from every format of Magic play except for Vintage, and even then, you can only have one copy per deck.

It’s also rare, but not as rare as the Illustrator Pikachu. The Black Lotus was part of the Alpha run, and Magic’s designers realized that the card breaks the game. So, they stopped printing it: there are a total of 1100 Alpha copies, 3300 Beta printings, and an “indeterminate amount of Unlimited Edition printings,” according to Draftism.

In 2024, a pristine copy of an Alpha (i.e., first edition) Black Lotus sold for $3 million, making it the highest-priced Magic: The Gathering card ever sold. The sale happened between Adam Cai of Pristine Collectibles and an anonymous buyer.

“Collectors are always on the lookout for one of the limited number of copies to add to their collection,” wrote CGC Cards when sharing the news. “This particular Alpha Black Lotus is not only rare but also in impeccable condition, graded CGC Pristine 10. Its sky-high price demonstrates the high value collectors place on CGC Cards’ Pristine 10 grade.”

Before that, the most expensive Magic: The Gathering card belonged to…Post Malone.

Rock history is filled with unforgettable frontmen, but few commanded a stage quite like the legendary Peter Wolf.

The iconic rocker, best known as the voice behind the No. 1 hit "Centerfold," is celebrating his 80th birthdaySaturday.

Wolf was born on March 7, 1946, in the Bronx, New York, before eventually finding his way to Boston, where he became deeply connected to the city's thriving music scene. Superunknown by Soundgarden and The Downward Spiral by the Nine Inch Nails were released 32 years ago today!

On March 8, 1994, both bands released albums that are still widely considered their best by fans. Shortly after, Superunknown and The Downward Spiral debuted at No. 1 and No. 2 on the Billboard albums chart, respectively.

However, despite being edged out on the charts, The Downward Spiral sits at No. 32 on a Rolling Stoneranking of the "100 Best Albums of the 90's," while Superunknown trails shortly behind at No. 38.

The Downward Spiral, a concept album, follows a protagonist as he descends into madness—with the record exploring heavy topics like addiction, violence, and suicide that sparked controversy at the time.

The album also made headlines after it was revealed that part of it was recorded in the Los Angeles mansion where Sharon Tate was murdered by Charles Manson and the Manson Family in 1969.

In addition to being considered one of the best albums of the '90s, The Downward Spiral was also ranked No. 122 on a list of Rolling Stone's "500 Greatest Albums of All Time" in 2020.

"[Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor] made the most successful album of his career—a cohesive, willful, and overpowering meditation on the central theme running through all of NIN’s videos, live shows, music, and lyrics: control," Rolling Stone wrote. "While Spiral has its share of Reznor’s trademark industrial corrosiveness, it’s balanced by the tentatively hopeful (and intensely personal) 'Hurt' and soundscapes inspired by David Bowie’s Low."

The Downward Spiral achieved quadruple-platinum certification with 3.7 million US sales by December 2011.

Superunknown, on the other hand, marked a shift for Soundgarden—retaining the heaviness and grunge of the band's previous works while embracing sounds of alternative rock, hard rock, heavy metal, and psychedelic rock.

Superunknown, like its birthday twin, also landed on the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time” list, ranking at No. 335 on the 2012 edition before being knocked off entirely in the revamped 2020 version.

"They were the Seattle punk scene's headbanging answer to Led Zeppelin II," Rolling Stone said at the time. "But they became real songwriters on Superunknown, shaping their angst into grunge anthems like 'Black Hole Sun.'"

After debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 album chart, the record eventually closed 1994 as the 13th best-selling album of the year with 2.5 million copies sold.
