If Country King Keith Urban has anything to say about it, Summer 2026 is the summer of Yacht Rock.

The country crooner has a soft spot for the ’70s-inspired music genre and is set to release a new album on June 12, 2026, containing almost exclusively Yacht Rock covers. Urban gave fans a preview of his breezy, stripped-down takes on some of the best-known soft-rock tunes of the 1970s at CMA Fest in Nashville this weekend, but it was a duet with a ’70s music legend that completely stole the show.

Keith Urban’s new album Flow State includes new interpretations of iconic soft-rock tunes like "Summer Breeze," on which the country star dives into the song’s lush harmonies in his reimagined cover. Flow State contains one original song titled "We Go Back," performed with Doobie Brothers frontman, and the unofficial king of Yacht Rock himself, Michael McDonald.

McDonald took the stage this weekend alongside Keith Urban at the venerable Nashville music festival, sharing a live performance of the pair’s original tune with fans. If there’s anyone who could steal the spotlight from Keith Urban in his hometown of Nashville, it’s Michael McDonald. The singing icon did just that.

The Doobie Brothers frontman may have been performing in country music territory, but fans enthusiastically made him feel right at home.

“Brilliant collaboration,” shared one fan.

Another offered a ringing endorsement for the only original tune on Keith Urban’s new album Flow State, writing, “Love this song! It’s been on repeat in my car.”

More than just an endorsement of Keith Urban and Michael McDonald’s recent collaboration for Flow State, reaction to the pair’s Nashville performance speaks to the enduring talent and popularity of Michael McDonald, one of the most unique voices of the 1970s and one of the decade’s most prolific songwriters.

Urban’s take on some of Yacht Rock’s biggest hits introduces the songs, and the genre itself, to an entirely new generation of music fans and establishes the crossover appeal of soft rock with the enthusiasm and support of Urban’s country music audience.

“Yacht Country Summer 2026,” suggested one fan, echoing the sentiments of many.

Ultimately, what made Urban and McDonald’s performance so special was the enduring talent of the Doobie Brothers frontman. Less a tribute album or performance focused solely on nostalgia, Michael McDonald’s contribution to Flow State, and his performance in Nashville, represent an expansion of his career, not a reflection on it.

Obituary, the '90s death metal band, surprised fans with an unexpected announcement as they geared up for a highly anticipated tour with Megadeth.

Known for their blazing-fast heavy grooves and unique style of death metal, the band will be joining one of the "Big Four" of American thrash metal as a supporting act.

Currently on a farewell tour, Obituary announced that it was expanding the run with two more dates set for July and August in Wisconsin.

“MEGADETH & OBITUARY live in Wisconsin this Summer. 2 Special shows direct support to the Thrash Legends. July 31 La Crosse, WI @ Oktoberfest Grounds and Aug 01 Green Bay, WI @ Capital Credit Union Park,” the caption reads, adding that tickets are currently available.

Fans in the comments section couldn't wait to see the two iconic bands on one stage.

“Sick lineup,” one wrote.

Megadeth has also tapped thrash icons Anthrax and Exodus to join them as special guests.

This Was Our Life Tour Details

The upcoming tour, This Was Our Life, is Megadeth’s multi-year global farewell tour led by frontman Dave Mustaine. It is also a celebration of their final self-titled record, Megadeth, released on Jan. 23, 2026.

The lead vocalist hinted that the farewell tour, which kicked off this year, could span multiple years.

"We're easily talking about touring for another three to five years,” Dave told Kerrang!. "And if we're going to be doing it for that long, then, s---, I'll be looking at the (70th) birthday I don't even want to think about!"

According to Mustaine, he doesn't want to keep performing until he is in his 80s.

“I'm not caught up in longevity and stuff like that, and being one of those guys who can play until he's in his 80s,” he explained, adding, “I have to remember that people live and they die, and I need to take good care of myself.”

From May to mid-July, the farewell tour will perform across Europe and the U.K., followed by a North American leg running through August.

Fans of alternative rock have a brand new reason to get excited about Dogstar's upcoming tour.

The band just announced that New York rock group The Backfires will join them as a special guest on their 2026 All In Now Tour. Dogstar shared the news on Instagram, writing, "We're excited to have @thebackfires join us on the road for our North American Tour."

The tour kicks off Aug. 1 in Austin, Texas, and will make stops across the United States and Canada before wrapping up Sept. 3 in Salt Lake City, Utah. It is supporting Dogstar's latest album, All In Now, which was released in May.

Originally formed in Los Angeles in the early 1990s, Dogstar built a following by balancing alternative rock with post-grunge influences and melodic songwriting. The group stands out for featuring actor Keanu Reeves as its bassist alongside drummer Robert Mailhouse and guitarist-vocalist Bret Domrose.

Although Dogstar never achieved the commercial heights of some of its contemporaries, the band developed a loyal fan base through constant touring and a string of well-received releases. Following a peaceful breakup in 2002, the group reunited more than two decades later, returning to the stage and studio with renewed energy.

In a 2024 interview on the Inside of Youpodcast, Mailhouse explained their reunion.

"We made a conscious decision to try to do something … after the pandemic," the drummer shared. "The timing just sort of came together, and we got together and played, and it sounded good."

That long-awaited return sparked renewed interest in Dogstar's music, introducing the band's catalog to a new generation of listeners while reconnecting longtime fans with a group that had largely disappeared from the spotlight.

The addition of The Backfires brings another layer of excitement to the tour. The rising band has gained recent attention for its energetic live performances and modern take on guitar-driven rock, making it a natural fit alongside Dogstar.

For fans attending the upcoming shows, the pairing offers an opportunity to see both a revived alternative rock group and one of the genre's emerging acts on the same stage.

More than three decades after Dogstar first formed, the band's latest tour announcement demonstrates that interest in its music is still as strong as ever.

Jessica Alba's eldest daughter reached another major milestone just days after graduating from high school.

Honor — whom Alba shares with ex Cash Warren — celebrated her 18th birthday on Sunday, June 7, and the proud mom shared a touching tribute.

In 1978, Exile released what would become their only No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100—and it remains a classic 48 years later. Decades after "Kiss You All Over" blended pop with rock, disco, and other musical influences, it is still widely played on streaming services like Spotify (over 56 million streams at the time of writing), proving its timelessness.

The band—comprising Jimmy Stokley (Lead Vocals), J.P. Pennington (Lead Vocals, Guitar), Buzz Cornelison (Keyboards), Marlon Hargis (Keyboards), Sonny LeMaire (Bass), and Steve Goetzman (Drums) at the time—was formed in Kentucky in 1963, originally going by The Exiles.

According to founding member Pennington, “There were a lot of Cuban exiles coming across … The word [exiles] was in the news, and we felt we were also somewhat ostracized from the local society. We had long hair back then,” per Kentucky Monthly.

After a name change—which they famously said took place due to The Exiles sounding 'dated'—“Kiss You All Over” reached No. 1 the week of Sept. 30, 1978, and topped the charts for four weeks. It was also ranked the No. 5 top song of the year by Billboard.

Written by Mike Chapman and Nicky Chinn, it was included on the group's album, Mixed Emotions. A sensual, romantic song about passion, infatuation, and physical desire, the track—inspired by Barry White's 1977 hit "It's Ecstasy When You Lay Down Next to Me," according to Chapman—was an "instant hit in over 60 countries. In 2010, Billboard ranked the song ninth on its list of The 50 Sexiest Songs Of All Time," according to a Facebook post shared by the band.

While a fusion of sounds defined them from inception, the band officially crossed over from rock to country in 1983, finding massive success and notching their first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart with "Woke Up in Love" in March 1984. During the height of their country era, between 1983 and 1987, the band recorded ten consecutive No. 1 singles on the Billboard country charts.

“The Exile sound is, perhaps, a mixture of R&B, gospel, old-style rock, with country and bluegrass touches,” Hargis explained in 2018, according to Kentucky Monthly. “We’ve given up trying to figure it out; it’s just a distinctive mix that’s us. The best way to describe our sound, in my opinion, is that it’s a combination of strong vocals, funky rhythms and lots of soul.”

In 2025, "one of America's longest-running bands" was honored with a PBS special entitled Exile: 60 Years of Music.

"Explore the history of Exile, one of America's longest-running bands. From their rock 'n' roll roots in Richmond, Kentucky, to their 1978 pop hit 'Kiss You All Over' that topped the Billboard charts to their reinvention as a hit-making country band - this documentary chronicles Exile's story, more than six decades in the making," the synopsis reads.

With the Tony Awards in full swing, Daniel Radcliffe spoke to E! News on the red carpet about how his son inspired his performance in Every Brilliant Thing.

The solo show opened at the Hudson Theatre on March 12, starring Radcliffe as an unnamed narrator. The 70-minute show follows the narrator as he chronicles his journey with suicidal depression, beginning with his mother’s suicide attempt. Radcliffe closed out his run on May 24, with Mariska Hargitay taking over on May 26.

“Honestly, I found doing a show that is about saying something … my son’s a real inspiration in wanting to say that,” Radcliffe said. “And when I was thinking about certain things in the show, I would think about him a lot. So he was actually quite energizing.”

Although his son wasn’t able to attend any of the showings, E! News asked what he hopes his son will think about them in the future.

“If he likes any of them, that will feel like a victory as a parent,” Radicliffe said. “I don’t know, I feel like nothing your parents do is cool. So he’ll probably just watch me [and] be like ‘What are you doing?’ And God forbid he ever watches the film where me and his mom, who’s here tonight, met on, because it’s just going to be an awkward watch for a variety of reasons for him.”

Radcliffe met his partner, Erin Darke, on the set of the 2013 indie film Kill Your Darlings. Us Weekly reports that the two made a strong connection while filming a love scene, which led to a real-life romance. In April 2023, they welcomed their baby boy together.

“Honestly, if I could stop [my son] from ever knowing I was an actor or famous, I would do that,” Radcliffe said with a smile. “I’m in this beautiful phase right now where I’m just his dad to him and nothing else. And I’m just going to hang on to that for as long as possible.”

The Offspring Are Back, Too

The reveal trailer confirmed two things nostalgic players were hoping for. Axel, the original game's iconic driver, is back behind the wheel, and so is The Offspring, the punk band whose music helped define the franchise.

The 1999 original was as famous for its soundtrack, anchored by The Offspring's "All I Want" and tracks from Bad Religion, as it was for its frantic gameplay, in which drivers raced the clock and pulled off reckless stunts to rack up bigger tips. As the new title hints, World Tour takes that formula global, sending players to pick up and drop off passengers in cities around the world.

A Sega Classic Returns

Crazy Taxi first hit arcades in 1999 before becoming a defining hit on the Sega Dreamcast, spawning sequels and a devoted following. The franchise had been quiet for years, so an official new installment is a major moment for longtime fans.

When a song about feeling terrible somehow makes people feel great, you know you have a winner. But it would take Dave Mason, the singer-songwriter and guitarist behind Traffic’s “Feelin’ Alright?,” a while to reap the rewards of what would become one of classic rock’s most enduring songs.

Just 21 at the time, Mason wrote “Feelin’ Alright?” while on hiatus from Traffic in Hydra, Greece. When he reunited with bandmates Steve Winwood, Jim Capaldi, and Chris Wood, the group recorded the song’s first version — a subtle folksy track — and released it on their self-titled second album. But it flopped, barely registering with listeners. That is, until Joe Cocker got hold of it.

In 1969, Cocker released his own rendition of the song on his debut album, With a Little Help From My Friends, transforming it into a soulful rock anthem complete with congas, piano, and his signature growl. He also had a little help from his friends, namely Ray Charles’ session musicians and backup vocals from The Raelettes. For the final touch, Cocker tweaked the song title, adding a “G” and dropping the question mark: "Feeling Alright."

“A lot of people miss the nuance of the question mark in the title,” Mason shared in his 2024 autobiography, Only You Know and I Know, per American Songwriter. The punctuation matters because the song isn’t a declaration of confidence. Rather, it's a sarcastic exchange with the narrator asking, "Are you feeling all right?" Answering his own question, the narrator admits, “Not feeling too good myself.” Remove the interrogative, and the meaning shifts entirely.

That emotional ambiguity came from Mason's real-life failed love story. Penned about his own painful romance with Vogue model Linda Keith, whose past relationships included legendary musicians Brian Jones, Keith Richards, and Jimi Hendrix, the song was Mason’s way of coping. 

“I was young; she was experienced and worldly,” he said. “My emotions could not handle it.” 

His heartbreak fueled lyrics like, “Imprisoned by the way it could have been / Left here on my own or so it seems / I’ve got to leave before I start to scream / But someone’s locked the door and took the key.” 

With or without the question mark, though, Mason loved Cocker’s interpretation. 

“Oh, my God, this is great,” Mason reportedly said after hearing the kinetic cover. Later, he explained, “I think it’s because the song’s so simple but also because Joe Cocker’s version is so damn good!” 

“Feeling Alright” charted twice on the Billboard Hot 100: once in 1969, peaking at No. 69, and again in 1972, peaking atNo. 33 as a re-released live version from Cocker’s Mad Dogs & Englishmen album. It also became a staple of classic rock radio, boosted by Cocker’s iconic Woodstock performance in 1969. More importantly, it launched a life far beyond the charts. 

Over the decades, “Feelin’ Alright?” has been covered more than 50 times by artists spanning rock, soul, blues, and pop, including Three Dog Night, David Ruffin, The Jackson 5, The Black Crowes, Grand Funk Railroad, and even a 2020 all-star rendition featuring Sammy Hagar, Mick Fleetwood, Michael McDonald, and members of The Doobie Brothers.

Today the shapeshifting hit is widely considered a classic rock favorite and cross-generational anthem, with its themes of resilience, heartbreak, and perseverance allowing the song to transcend genres and eras.  

After leaving Traffic for a successful solo career, Mason borrowed Cocker’s piano and conga lick for his own performances. The song, which became the most-covered composition of his career, has since appeared on most of his live releases and remained a set highlight until he passed away this year at age 79.

Pink opened the 2026 Tony Awards with a truly incredible number that featured numerous iconic performers.

She began by being in the air, flying across the stage, doing numerous acrobatic moves while dressed as Peter Pan and singing "I'm Flying" from the 1954 musical. However, she was quickly interrupted by Neil Patrick Harris, who asked the singer what she was going.

"I want to show how much I love theater, even though I haven't been on Broadway. I'm concerned that people will be like, 'Why is Pink hosting the Tonys?' " she replied. "I want to show them how thrilled I am to be here!"

She then sang some lines from other Broadway shows, including The Phantom of the Opera and On My Own, as well as belting the high note sung by Elphaba in Wicked. However, Harris encouraged her to just be herself, which led to a change. From there, she launched into her own version of "Lady Marmalade," from the hit show Moulin Rouge!.

And the performance featured cast members from this season's shows, including The Lost Boys, Schmigadoon!, Titaníque, Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York), Chess, CATS: The Jellicle Ball, Ragtime and Richard O'Brien's The Rocky Horror Show. There was also cameos from 96-year-old June Squibb, Chicago's and Secret Lives of Mormon Wives' star Whitney Leavitt, and Megan Thee Stallion.

In photos shared by Page Six, Censori, 31, wore her hair pulled back into two braided buns as she and West, 49, left the the restaurant they were dining at. The look was paired with a pearl-white strappy dress, matching tights and heels—which only strengthened the Star Wars comparisons, given Princess Leia's iconic signature all-white wardrobe. 

“Princess Leia Vibes 😉, one Instagram user wrote.

“What in the Princess Leia is going on here?” another asked.

Others speculated that Censori was wearing a wig.

“Wig !!! And what's w the stocking & shoes ??!! “ one said, while another agreed, writing, “She’s stunning but that wig is so fake looking.”

The couple, who married in 2022, appeared relaxed during the outing, smiling and holding hands as they made their way to a waiting car.

A Glee reunion at the 2026 Tony Awards... yes, please!

Lea Michele, who played Rachel Berry in the popular show, met up with a few of her former co-stars, including Kristin Chenoweth, Brian Stokes Mitchell, and Darren Criss.

Chenoweth played April Rhodes, a William McKinley High School alum who attended with Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison), in the series. As for Mitchell, he portrayed the father of Michele's character. Then, there's Criss, who played Blaine Anderson.

Glee ran for six seasons on the Fox network, from May 19, 2009, to March 20, 2015, following Michelle's character, Rachel Berry, along with her other classmates as they navigate the halls of William McKinley High School and are brought together by one after-school club that changes all of their lives.

This was the second time this year Michele got to reunite with some cast-mates of the show, with many attending her portrait unveiling at Sardi's restaurant in April. Among those in attendance were Jonathan Groff (Jesse St. James), Criss, Alex Newell (Unique), and Kevin McHale (Artie Abrams).

2000s pop queenNelly Furtado, 47, took over the airwaves with her 2006 album Loose, which features legendary hits like "Promiscuous," "Say It Right," and "Maneater." On June 7, 2026, she celebrated the 20th anniversary of the iconic album.

"Today marks 20 years of my album Loose… Wow [red heart emoji href="https://parade.com/living/emoji-meanings"]," she wrote on Instagram, reminiscing about how she teamed up withTimbaland to make the chart-topping album.

"When we made Loose in Miami, I really wanted to make an unbridled and raw sounding pop album. I was feeling free and full of passion," she explained. "@timbaland and I found each other in the exact same musical space, fresh with new ideas and sounds and influences." They took the opportunity to work together and "break some rules."

The resulting album from the collaboration hit No. 1 on the Billboard Top Album Sales and Billboard 200 charts in 2006 and 2007, and had two songs, "Say It Right" and "Promiscuous," top the Billboard Hot 100 for a combined seven weeks.

"These recordings ended up travelling the world, and bringing people together in so many clubs, cars, kitchens, arenas, through love and breakups, and countless unforgettable moments," she shared of the album's impressive longevity. "And now, two decades later, they’re still finding new ears and new hearts."

The "I'm Like A Bird" singer shared her gratefulness to "every person who helped bring this album to life," and to her beloved fans. "You’ve sung every word, made memories to them, and kept their spirit alive in ways I’ll never fully be able to express my gratitude for," she said. "Thank you for 20 years of love, and for letting Loose be the soundtrack to so many moments in your lives."

Fans were feeling nostalgic after reading her post, and took to the comments to share the love. "Soundtrack of the 2000s!" said one follower, while another added, "Loose defined a generation. You poured your heart and body, literally, into that project and it paid off. You paved the way for many many artists who came after!"

In 2025, Furtado announced she was pausing live performances “for the foreseeable future" to "pursue some other creative and personal endeavors that I feel would better suit this next phase of my life." Still, fans are hoping to see more from her soon, with one writing, "Nelly I know you said no tours but I’m begging you please!"

Pink made the 2026 Tony Awards red carpet into a family affair. The singer is set to host Broadway's biggest night.

Pink wowed in a floor-length black sequined strapless gown accented with a cascading ruffle train. But she wasn’t the only one in her family to steal the spotlight. Husband, former pro motocross star Carey Hart, 15-year-old daughter Willow Sage Hart, nine-year-old son Jameson Moon Hart, and mom, Judith Moore, joined the awards show host as she posed for pre-show pics.

Fans flocked to Instagram, praising Pink’s style with comments such as, “She is just absolutely stunning! My all-time favorite singer above everybody else!” The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, and Broadway’s Chicago star, Whitney Leavitt, also added her two cents, writing, “Stunning!”

While Pink’s sophisticated but fun look might put her on every best-dressed list, daughter Willow also looked absolutely amazing. The teenager dazzled in a dress that some fans remember seeing before. 

One eagle-eyed viewer asked, on Instagram, “Is Willow’s dress the one Eva Noblezada wore in the My Green Light music video? Or a replica? Stunning!” And yes, as it turns out, Willow is wearing the same Reem Acra dress that The Great Gatsby’s star sported. 

When the musical’s Instagram account posted the answer to this question, fans couldn’t help but gush over the 15-year-old. Broadway & Beyond’s Katherine Quinn wrote, “Willow you look gorgeous!” and another commenter added, “Beautiful! She is 100% a Broadway star in the making.”

Of course, Willow didn’t get all the attention. Commenters applauded the group effort, saying, “You all look stunning” and “Such a beautiful family!” And they certainly are! Hart looked dapper in grey and black, while Pink’s mom (Judith Moore) wore a classic black pantsuit. And then there is nine-year-old Jameson.

The youngest member of the Hart-Moore clan was all personality, pairing a traditional tux with punky ‘pink’ hair. 

How did Pink, a pop star, end up hosting Broadway’s Tony Awards show? 

According to Variety, earlier this week, Pink opened up about her hosting gig at a press event, saying, “I was like, ‘Why me? I’ve never been on Broadway,’ which is probably the collective eye roll that I felt.” She continued, “But they said, ‘Because we want more viewership.’ And I was like, ‘Great! I have a purpose! I’m your guy! So here we are; it’s a beautiful group of people to celebrate.”

Pink also explained that she had to get Willow’s okay before hosting, but you won’t see the teen onstage. The ‘So What’ singer added, “I have been trying to convince Willow to be in a show with me for years. But she has to do her own thing. She’s really hung up on this nepo-baby thing.”

Even six years after Modern Family wrapped its 11-season run, Jesse Tyler Ferguson still knows exactly which of his former castmates he'd trust to have his back on stage.

During a red carpet interview with PEOPLE at the 2026 Tony Awards, the actor—who famously played Mitchell Pritchett on the beloved ABCsitcom—was asked which member of his Modern Family family he'd most want to "join forces" with in a theatrical setting. Ferguson didn't hesitate with his answer.

"Well, I mean, Sarah Hyland, I would feel the safest on stage with her because she's a, she's a pro," he said on Sunday, June 7.

Hyland, who played Ferguson's on-screen niece Haley Dunphy throughout the show's run from 2009 to 2020, has extensive stage experience in addition to her television work. The actress made her Broadway debut as a child in Grey Gardens as the young Jackie Bouvier. In 2021, she starred as Audrey in the off-Broadway revival of Little Shop of Horrors, earning rave reviews for her performance opposite Glee alum Darren Criss.  So it's no surprise Ferguson would want the actress in his corner if Broadway ever came calling.

That said, there was another former castmate he admitted he'd love to work with—even if it came with a few extra nerves. "I would be interested in doing something with Eric Stonetreet, but I don't know how safe I feel with him on stage," Ferguson joked.

He quickly clarified that the concern had less to do with talent and more to do with his longtime friend potentially getting in his own head. "I just feel like I'd really, you know, he'd be a lot of nerves," Ferguson explained. "I know Eric pretty well. He'd be very, very nervous, but he would be great, amazing on stage, yeah."

Ferguson also gave a shout-out to Sofía Vergara, suggesting the actress has untapped Broadway potential. "I feel like Sofia Vergara could do something great on Broadway," he said. "She's been in Chicago. She was Mama Morton in Chicago, like in Miami, and then for like a week on Broadway, I think."

The comments are just the latest reminder that the Modern Family cast has remained close long after the cameras stopped rolling. Earlier this year, Ariel Winter revealed she was living with former co-star Nolan Gould following a breakup, joking that the pair had created their own "little Modern Family reboot."

Nat King Cole’s version of “Unforgettable” is a recording that truly lives up to its name. The recording, written by Irving Gordon, with an arrangement by Nelson Riddle, is a certifiable classic.

Although footage of Nat King Cole performing the song on television exists, his version of the song has never had an official music video until now.

French-American animator and illustrator Nevil Bernard, known for his animated videos for the Rolling Stones, Nina Simone, Eric Clapton & Jeff Beck, and others, was commissioned to make a video for the song. Rather than use the old TV footage of Nat King Cole performing, Bernard created an animated visual interpretation of the song that is inspired by ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arrangement. While Cole’s actual mage doesn’t appear in the clip, hand-drawn impressions of his silhouette are shown throughout the clip.

The 75th anniversary of Cole’s recording of the song at the Capitol Studios in Hollywood, Calif. will occur on Aug. 17.  That recording was first released in October of 1951. It became a hit, peaking at No. 14 on Billboard’s Best-Selling Pop Singles chart. Five decades later, in 2000, it was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

Natalie Cole Revives Her Father's Classic

This isn’t the first time that “Unforgettable” has enjoyed new life. Back in 1991, Nat King Cole’s daughter, Natalie Cole, recorded a virtual duet of the track with her late father. That recording served as the title track to Unforgettable with Love, a collection of songs made famous by Nat King Cole.

Initially, Natalie Cole’s duet version of “Unforgettable” was only serviced to adult contemporary radio stations, but the song became a surprise crossover hit, garnering airplay on top 40 stations and peaking at No. 14 in the summer of 1991 on Billboard’s Hot  100.

The album and new version of “Unforgettable” went on to win seven Grammy Awards, including record, album, and song the year, as well as best traditional performance, and producer of the year for David Foster, who worked on project with Tommy LiPuma, Cole and her husband, Andre Fischer.

The album also managed to top the Billboard 200, above then-current titles by such artists as Van Halen, Paula Abdul, C+C Music Factory, and Skid Row.

The success of the project was a surprise to Natalie Cole. “You could say that,” she in an interview for The Billboard Book of Number One Albums. “I was stupefied.”

As Mick Jagger sang, "You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, well, you just might find you get what you need." This story isn't about Jagger, it's about another singer — Eddie Money — but the message still applies.

When Money first heard the demo for what would become his 1986 comeback hit, "Take Me Home Tonight," he didn't really care for it. In fact, he didn't like it even after the song shot to #1 on the Billboard Album Rock Tracks (and #4 on the Billboard Hot 100).

”I still hate it, man,” Money told the Chicago Tribune that year. "l'll tell ya, if it didn't have Ronnie [Spector] on the tune, I never would have done it. The verses make sense, but I hate that whole bit, 'I feel the hunger.'"

Of course, iconic vocalist Spector — formerly of The Ronettes — played a huge role in the success of "Take Me Home Tonight," which features Spector re-creating a line from the 1963 classic "Be My Baby."

"After I thought about it for a while, I just called up Ronnie in New York and said, 'I need some help. I'm not going to sing 'Be my little baby,'" Money explained.

Unfortunately, Spector wasn't interested...at first.

“I could hear clinking and clanking in the background,” Money told The Hippo in 2015, per the National Review. “I said, ‘Ronnie, what are you doing?’ She said, ‘I’m doing the dishes, and I gotta change the kids’ bedding. I’m not really in the business anymore, Eddie.’”

Finally, Money was able to convince Spector to come down to the studio.

“When she got there, she didn’t even remember it; she had a mental block against [Phil] Spector,” he said. “But then she came out and did the song. She was even better on a cheap bottle of wine and some crappy grass, I gotta tell you.”

'Take Me Home Tonight' marked a huge comeback for both Eddie Money and Ronnie Spector

Both Money and Spector's careers were at perhaps their lowest points before "Take Me Home Tonight" was released, but everything changed after that.

Money was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance for “Take Me Home Tonight,” and two other singles from the album Can’t Hold Back performed well: “I Wanna Go Back” and “Endless Nights,” which reached #14 and #21, respectively.

Spector, meanwhile, made a return to music, releasing her second solo album, Unfinished Business, in 1987. As American Songwriter reported, Spector also began hosting her annual Christmas Party at the B.B. King Blues Club & Grill in NYC and released her 1990 memoir Be My Baby: How I Survived Mascara, Miniskirts, and Madness.

The Rolling Stones may be one of the music industry's most enduring bands, but the rock legends weren't always appreciated onstage. Long before the Stones celebrated decades of hit songs and performed sold-out stadium tours, they were part of one of the most bizarre moments in music history—and it all happened 62 years ago today.

Today, the Rolling Stones are widely regarded as one of the greatest rock bands in music history. But 62 years ago, the future rock legends were reportedly booed off the stage at a live show in San Antonio, Texas.

Performing as part of a state fair lineup that included Bobby Vee and George Jones during the Stones' first-ever visit to San Antonio, the band's long-haired British rocker personas didn't sit well with the local crowd, who reportedly mistook Mick Jagger,Bill Wyman, Keith Richards, Brian Jones, and Charlie Watts for "girls performing in one-piece swimsuits."

The band was allegedly booed off the stage and quickly replaced by a tumbling act and a group of performing monkeys who had previously appeared at the state fair.

In his memoir Stone Alone, Wyman recalled the debacle.

"The concert was in the open air and everyone got a poor reception from a mixed crowd of cowboys and kids," he wrote. "We had to go on after some performing monkeys. What the hell were we doing here? People didn't know whether to take us seriously or as a joke. What had we let ourselves in for? Crowds were great to us at airports and hotels, but these two shows set us back years!"

A Forgotten Chapter in Rolling Stones History

The incident occurred during the early days of Beatlemania, when the Beatles’ clean-cut image became the norm.. The Stones were beginning to build a devoted following, but they had not yet achieved the global fame that would eventually make them one of the most influential rock acts of all time.

The Rolling Stones' rough-edged blues sound and rebellious persona stood in stark contrast to the polished acts audiences had grown accustomed to seeing.

At the time, audience members reportedly reacted negatively to the band's performance, leading to boos and unrest from the crowd. Event organizers ultimately decided to cut the appearance short.

Their replacement? Performing monkeys.
