1974 Ultimate Classic Was a No. 1 Hit 52 Years Ago Today
In 1974, The Spinners delivered one of the most powerful and enduring songs of their career.
Their single, "Mighty Love" became a major hit during the group's peak years, helping cement the vocal group's reputation as one of the defining soul acts of the 1970s.
Released as the title track from their album, Mighty Love, the song showcased the lush harmonies and emotional delivery that made the group famous. The track was produced by legendary songwriter and producer Thom Bell, whose work with the group helped shape the sophisticated "Philadelphia soul" sound that dominated R&B radio at the time.
"Mighty Love" climbed the charts in 1974, earning the top spot on Billboard's 100 Hot Soul Singles and becoming one of the group's most memorable singles and a staple of classic soul playlists.
Originally formed in Detroit in the late 1950s, The Spinners rose to widespread fame in the early 1970s after signing with Atlantic Records and collaborating with Bell.
"When I found them, they were on Atlantic Records, and Atlantic Records was going to get rid of them," recalled Bell in a 2006 interview with NPR. The record label asked Bell which of their artists he'd like to work with, and to Bell, it was a no-brainer. "They sent me the list of artists that they had, I happened to see, the very last page, [...] I saw S-P-I-N. That's it. It was going off the page. I said, I wonder, are they those Spinners that I used to play piano for in the Uptown Theater?"
"So I called them and said, do you have the Spinners from Motown? They said, oh, yeah, we're getting ready to get rid of them. I said, please, whoa, don't get rid of them yet 'cause that's who I'd like to do."
Bell's instincts were spot on. After working with the group, The Spinners went on to release a string of major hits including "I'll Be Around," "Could It Be I'm Falling in Love" and "Then Came You," the latter of which topped the Billboard Hot 100.
Because of their early history in Detroit and later success in the United Kingdom, the group is sometimes credited as the Detroit Spinners in the UK to avoid confusion with a British folk band that shared the same name.
More than five decades after its release, "Mighty Love" remains a shining example of the smooth, orchestral soul that defined the era and a reminder of why The Spinners remain one of the most beloved vocal groups in R&B history.

Grace Bay Resorts' Newest Luxury Location in Turks and Caicos Is *Perfect* for Families
Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.
Grace Bay Resorts is known for their luxury properties in Turks and Caicos, including destinations such as Grace Bay Club, Rock House and West Bay Club. And their newest resort, South Bank (which they describe as a "sophisticated sanctuary by the sea"), is now getting well-deserved attention as well.
South Bank resort boasts 31 acres of oceanfront, 92 waterfront accommodations and Turks and Caicos' "first ocean swimming lagoon." The lagoon really sets this location apart, making it a unique setting from other properties in the area.
I was invited to visit this property firsthand with my seven-year-old daughter at the end of 2025, and we were able to enjoy not only the tranquil setting of the luxurious beachfront resort, but also experience many of their new Kids Club activities—including pizza-making, crafts, a Junkanoo party and more.
The idea of planning family travel out of the country may feel overwhelming, but if you're looking for a relaxing tropical escape that both parents and kids will enjoy, I think you'll find that this newer destination has everything you need. From the accommodations and dining to available activities and amenities, here's everything you need to know about South Bank.

How To Get from the Airport to South Bank ResortSouth Bank resort is located in the Long Bay area of the Turks and Caicos islands, and it's only about a 20-minute drive from the airport.
When you book with South Bank, you can set up a car service for your pick up and drop off to make the travel days a breeze.
And speaking of tips to make travel days even easier, I'd absolutely recommend looking into SkyPass Caribbean ahead of your travels—especially if you're traveling with kids. Right after we landed, we were whisked over to get our SkyPass wristbands and moved to the front of the long customs line. It was a game-changer!

Lagoon Villas seen over the lagoonSouth Bank Resort
Accommodations and DiningAccommodation options at South Bank include the Boathouses, Lagoon Villas and Ocean Estates.
My daughter and I stayed in a Lagoon Villa with others who were on the trip, and throughout the entire stay, I was struck by how perfect it would be for a larger family vacation with grandparents and cousins. The rooms were large and they each had their own private bathrooms. We stayed in one on the upper level and enjoyed stepping out onto the balcony in the mornings overlooking the lagoon.
Courtesy Kelsey Pelzer
The shared spaces included a laundry room, living room, dining area and kitchen, as well as a patio area and private outdoor pool.
South Bank offers dining for breakfast, lunch and dinner at Lua Beach House, the resort's onsite restaurant. They also have private, in-house chef dining available.

On the first evening of our trip, my daughter was tired from the long travel day (relatable!) and was itching to relax back at the villa earlier than our group dinner was scheduled. The South Bank staff was incredibly accommodating and suggested we go back into our room and place our dinner order, and have it delivered to the villa. It's exactly what we needed.
Activities and AmenitiesSouth Bank includes a marina, spa (open 10-7), fitness center and courts for racquet sports, as well as its gorgeous ocean swimming lagoon. They explain it's a "5-acre, 4.5-feet-deep lagoon [that 's] surrounded by a white-sand beach and home to two palm-fringed tropical islands."
Courtesy Kelsey Pelzer
We saw plenty of paddle-boarding and kayaking on the lagoon, and we did a ton of swimming in our villa's pool right off the beach—because South Bank is really centered around this lagoon, the entire area is truly so peaceful and breathtaking.
One of my favorite parts of the visit was the complimentary family yoga class we did one morning on Lagoon Island. It really set the tone for the whole day in the best way!
I was impressed with how South Bank prioritized the kids on this trip, making it not only a peaceful destination, but one that catered to their preferences and personalities as well. During the first night of our stay, they offered "The Quest," an island-wide treasure hunt that had the kids breaking up into teams to look for "hidden treasures" around the resort.
Courtesy Kelsey Pelzer
We were also able to create our own Junkanoo-inspired masks in a craft workshop (which was my daughter's favorite activity of the trip!) ahead of a party that they threw on Lagoon Island, where We Funk Junkanoo Band led our group in a lively parade from the Club House over to the lagoon.
Courtesy Kelsey Pelzer
Some of the other kid-friendly activities included partaking in "Pizza Picasso" using the resort's outdoor wood-fired pizza oven (even when we got caught in a downpour, it was still a major success—and delicious), visiting the South Bank Marina to learn more about coral reefs, and doing an outdoor dinner and movie night on Lagoon Island.

South Bank Resort Review: My Honest ThoughtsWho the resort is right for: If you're looking for chill vibes and prioritizing relaxation, I think South Bank is the perfect destination for you and your family. The resort feels so private, and it gives you a really nice "home base" for your vacation with beach and pool access, the spa, and the onsite restaurant all in such close proximity.
Who the resort might not be right for: If you're interested in more expansive offerings, like more water sports, multiple pool options, multiple restaurant options, etc., this location might feel smaller than what you're looking for.
As I briefly shared before, I do think South Bank would be ideal for a family getaway, or a group vacation. Whether you'd all be in one or two Lagoon Villas, or fit a larger family in an Ocean Estate, you get to unwind on a gorgeous, newer property and feel incredibly well taken care of.
My daughter was more than happy to swim laps in our villa's pool for hours on end, and I felt completely content and at ease going between hopping in with her, and sitting nearby with my Kindle. I wanted to bottle up the feeling and bring it back home with us!

Viola Davis Admits She ‘Just Connected’ With James Patterson in Unexpected 'Judge Stone' Collaboration
Viola Davis is stepping into a new creative arena, and she says the experience came down to one unexpected connection.
The EGOT-winning actress recently teamed up with bestselling author James Patterson to co-write a new legal thriller titled Judge Stone. While the collaboration may seem surprising at first glance, Davis says the partnership came together quite naturally.
“Meeting, writing this book, I just liked him. We just connected,” Davis said when reflecting on working with the prolific author to CBS News on Sunday, March 8.
The actress, who describes herself as more of a homebody than people might expect, also revealed she’s happiest in the quiet comfort of her own space. “Homebody, totally. I'm [a] total introvert,” Davis, 60, explained, adding that she enjoys simply being herself when she’s off the clock. “I like just being. I just like to be regular. I don't want to put on makeup. I don't want to try to be anyone else, other than myself.”
View this post on InstagramJudge Stone centers on a respected Black female circuit judge in a small Alabama town who finds herself presiding over an explosive case involving a teenage girl who is raped and later undergoes an illegal abortion. The subject matter is intentionally provocative, something Patterson, 78, says is the entire point.
“That's why. That's exactly why,” Patterson said when asked why the book tackles such a polarizing issue. “To make it so it's not a lightning rod. And I think that's why this story is so good, why it's so powerful, because we're going into areas that people aren't [talking about]. We need to talk about it.”
Davis also drew on deeply personal experiences while helping shape the novel’s characters. “I felt a responsibility to women who have been sexually assaulted and raped, especially children, as I am one of them,” she said. “And what they also deserve is the truth of how it made them feel.”
Patterson has been particularly enthusiastic about the project, even making a bold comparison while promoting the book. In an Instagram post, he wrote, “Not since TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD has there been a novel quite like this one,” which quickly caught attention from fans.
“Not James Patterson comparing himself to Harper Lee 😭,” one wrote in the comments.
Another declared, “I just finished the ARC and it’s AMAZING,” while a third replied, “Going to read this this weekend!”
With Judge Stone set to release this week, both collaborators believe they may have created something special.
“You know, every book you start, you want it to be great,” Patterson said. “And in this case, I think we settled for great.”
Disney Shares First Look At Magic Kingdom's Newly Renovated Space Ranger Spin
Nearly eight months after closing down for significant renovations in Disney's Magic Kingdom, the company is sharing an exciting first look at the refurbished Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin.
The new look was specifically shared over social media, which included a short video teasing the updated attraction on Instagram.
"Star Command presents: Infinite fun and beyond!" the video's narrator proclaims at the start of the video.
The clip then shows a look at some of the many new features that will make their way into the ride, including luminescent new interactive targets and brand-new handheld blasters. While the clip failed to announce an official reopening date for the ride, it went on to hint that the attraction would be "relaunching soon."
"Don't miss Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin, now back and packed with more power," the video ends by saying.
Since opening in late 1998, Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin has remained one of the most popular attractions to appear in Disney's Tomorrowland, delighting visitors of all ages.
Set in the fictional universe where Buzz Lightyear hails from, the ride acts as an interactive shooting game that allows players to combat the galaxy's most sinister villain: the Evil Emperor Zurg.
Riders act as Star Command recruits attempting to defeat the galactic tyrant, saving the universe by destroying various battery cells through the attraction's patented blasters.
In more recent years, Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin was shut down in August of last year to make way for new renovations. Though the aforementioned clip shows off some of the new changes in store for the ride, it's likely the attraction has underwent some serious refurbishments given the length of time it's been closed.
While it's more than likely the attraction will reopen by spring, it's also possible Disney might reopen the attraction to coincide with the release of the highly anticipated Toy Story 5 on June 19.
How Billy Idol Got His Guitarist 'Punched' on Stage by a Legendary '80s Comedian
Oops! Rock icon Billy Idol, 70, admitted he accidentally pissed off legendary '80s comedian Sam Kinison, and his guitarist paid the price!

"I was friends with Sam Kinison," Idol told Bill Maher on his Club Random Podcast. "So we went [to Las Vegas] to do a show with him... he had his rock band." It was all light-hearted and fun at first, but things took a turn when Idol got cozy with the stand-up pro's girlfriend.
"He had these two twins [Sabrina and Malika Souiri]... he ended up marrying one of them... but he was doing [his cover of] 'Wild Thing' and I got in between these two girls that he always had dressed up as Las Vegas showgirls," Idol recalled.
"I was just kind of playing around because it's not my song, you know, but he got upset and he punched my guitarist," he laughed. "My guitarist was on the stage and he punched him."
While Idol didn't claim to retaliate, he did leave the venue and skip the second show of the night that he planned to attend. "We said f--k it.' We even tried to leave Vegas," Idol remembered. "Then we couldn't leave because there wasn't a plane... So we saw Frank Sinatra instead of doing the show with Sam, but it was fantastic because I wouldn't have seen Frank Sinatra otherwise."
It's unclear whether the night tainted Idol's friendship with Kinison, but Idol did appear in the celebrity-filled music video for Kinison's infamous cover of The Troggs' "Wild Thing" in 1989.

Kinison rose to fame in the mid-1980s for his high-energy stand-up style chock full of screaming and controversy. After appearances on Late Night with David Letterman and Saturday Night Live drew attention, his got a 1986 special on HBO. He went on to appear in films like Back to School with Rodney Dangerfield, and even got a GRAMMY Award nomination for his comedy album Have You Seen Me Lately? in 1988.
Kinison died on April 10, 1992, at the age of 38 following a head-on car crash near Needles, California while driving to a stand-up performance in Nevada. According to reports, his Pontiac Trans Am was struck by a pickup truck driven by a 17-year-old who was intoxicated. Kinison’s wife, Malika Souiri, survived the crash with minor injuries.
This Common Daily Habit Is Destroying Your Gut Health—Here’s How To Avoid It
Scientists and philosophers alike have explored the principle of cause and effect for centuries—the idea that one action inevitably leads to another. While Aristotle is most commonly associated with this concept, modern science has consistently confirmed his observation: Daily habits absolutely impact what your long-term health and wellness will look like.
It’s an accumulation of the little habits you do every day that affect so much, including energy levels, immunity, brain function and even gut health. It’s essential that the lifestyle choices you make are healthy ones, because many behaviors can result in negative consequences. For instance, artificial sweeteners, processed foods, saturated fats and even certain medications can create microbiome imbalances and impair your gut. But there’s one common habit in particular that that many overlook, which may be destroying your gut health: stress.
Chronic stress is a silent killer in so many ways—your gut health is no exception.
“Stress doesn’t only affect mood—it can also change how the digestive system works,” explains Dr. Andrew Dam, DO, Gastroenterologist, Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center. “As gastroenterologists, we frequently see patients whose digestive symptoms worsen during periods of prolonged stress. This occurs because the brain and digestive tract are closely connected through what is known as the gut–brain axis.”
We’re here to share how stress may be destroying your gut health—and how to avoid it.

Why This Overlooked Habit Impacts the Gut A woman is sitting at a desk in an office with a laptop and a glass of water, seemingly feeling stressed and overwhelmed by her work. The setting is modern and professional, with large windows allowing natural light to flood in. Female entrepreneur with headache sitting at desk. Businesswoman under terrible physical tension at work.Your digestive tract and brain are in constant communication through your gut microbiome, stress hormones, nerves and immune system. Together, these systems keep your digestive system operating properly—including how food travels through the gut and how the body handles discomfort in the digestive tract.
When you’re feeling stressed, your body shifts into “fight or flight” mode. “This changes the balance between the stress response and the body’s normal ‘rest-and-digest’ functions,” says Dr. Dam. “As a result, signals between the brain and gut can change, affecting intestinal movement, increasing sensitivity to normal digestive activity and altering immune responses in the gut. These changes can contribute to symptoms such as abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhea, or constipation.”

Stress Also Affects Your Body’s Cortisol LevelsCortisol is known as the “stress hormone,” serving as the main stress regulator in the body. While it can be useful in short bursts, as it helps people react quickly when in need of quick alertness or a boost of energy, if it stays high for an extended period of time, it can negatively impact digestion.
“When you are stressed, your body releases cortisol as part of the fight or flight response. If this is chronic, it can become a problem,” explains Dr. Supriya Rao, MD, a Board-Certified Physician in internal medicine, gastroenterology, obesity medicine and lifestyle medicine. “High cortisol levels can slow gastric emptying, suppress your immune function and alter your gut motility. This can lead to constipation, diarrhea, reflux and inflammation.”

Stress Can Actually Change the Composition of Your Gut MicrobiomeYour gut microbiome is another essential part of a healthy digestive system. It consists of trillions of bacteria and microbes that reside in your intestines. According to Dr. Dam, these microbes aid digestion, keep your immune system in check and produce good-for-you compounds your body depends on. They even collaborate with your brain to ensure everything’s running smoothly.
That said, your microbiome is extremely sensitive to any changes in your body’s environment—including chronic stress.
“Research suggests that psychological stress can change the composition of the gut microbiome, meaning that some types of bacteria become more or less abundant. Some studies also suggest that stress may reduce microbial diversity, although scientists are still studying exactly how these changes occur,” Dr. Dam tells us.
Stress can impact the microbiome by altering gut motility, shifting the environment where these microbes reside. It can also affect digestive secretions and blood flow throughout the gut.

Stress-Management Interventions To Improve Gut HealthImplementing a few simple stress-management techniques into your lifestyle is a surefire way to keep your gut health in check. Dr. Rao suggests meditation, yoga, regular exercise and even journaling. Adding more movement to your day can boost your mood, mental health and overall sleep quality.
“Get good sleep,” Dr. Rao stresses. “Poor sleep keeps your cortisol elevated and worsens GI symptoms. If you can consistently lower your baseline stress levels, you can help keep your digestive health in check. None of these are magic on their own, but consistently lowering baseline stress can significantly improve your digestive health.”
Take it from Aristotle: Every choice you make can impact your well-being. Keeping stress at bay can promote a healthier gut—and if your gut is happy, you’ll be happy.

I Tried 30 Kinds of K-Cups and the Winner Completely Surprised Me
Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.
When I was a kid, my parents brewed coffee the way some people do laundry: relentlessly and on a schedule. One pot in the morning, another after dinner, both churned out by their stalwart countertop Mr. Coffee. They drank every drop.
I, on the other hand, live alone, work remotely, and most days want exactly two cups of coffee—sometimes three—never a full pot’s worth. Which is how I ended up here: firmly, unapologetically Team Keurig.
I’m not a coffee snob. I don’t own a French press. I’m not chasing obscure tasting notes or single-origin beans harvested under a full moon. I want coffee that shows up, does its job and doesn’t require a whole production. My Keurig machine fits neatly into my life: Push a button, get caffeine, move on with the day. No shame in my game.
Still, that convenience comes with a downside. When you’re buying K-Cups, it’s easy to fall into a rut: grabbing whatever’s on sale, whatever brand you recognize, whatever Amazon suggests at 11 p.m. I realized I’d been cycling through the same handful of pods without ever asking a basic question: Are any of these coffees actually great?
So, I decided to find out. Over the course of a few weeks, I brewed and tasted 30 different Keurig K-Cup coffee pods across roasts, brands, price points and flavor profiles to see what really holds up in the single-serve world. Some of these coffees surprised me. Some disappointed me. Read on for a no-snob, no-nonsense ranking of the K-Cups that held up.

Courtesy Jo Ann Liguori
I tried two dozen of the most popular varieties (according to Keurig), plus some of my go-tos. To keep the playing field level, I brewed each K-Cup on my machine’s large (10-ounce) setting, and then tried each pod both black and then again with a splash of milk. In real life, I usually add Stevia, but I stayed away from added sweeteners so the coffee could speak for itself.
I also factored in whether I’d want to drink another cup—because if you’re going to buy a box of K-Cups, you’re committing to drinking an entire box of K-Cups.

Obviously, taste is highly subjective. But this is what I thought of each cup of Joe I tried.
30. Happy Belly Donut Shop, 34¢ per pod*Courtesy Jo Ann Liguori
You know the saying: You get what you pay for? Sometimes it’s true. This medium roast from Amazon’s Happy Belly brand is watery and weak, thinner than some of the light roasts. True confession: I’ve bought this brand before, and it wasn’t until this tasteathon that I realized it just doesn’t compare. It’s easy to drink, sure, but mostly because there’s not much there there.
29. Philz Coffee Philtered Soul Hazelnut, 78¢ per podCourtesy Jo Ann Liguori
It smells amazing—like “I cannot wait to taste this” amazing. The aroma is nutty and sweet, like a café treat you can’t wait to sip. But the taste of this flavored K-Cup pod is sooo disappointing. It’s flat and has a lingering artificial taste.

28. Keurig Coffee Collective Global Trek, 69¢ per podCourtesy Jo Ann Liguori
This entry is part of the Keurig Coffee Collective, a new assortment from the brand aimed at the growing premium single-serve space and using a manufacturing technique called Refined Grind that packs 30% more coffee grounds into every K-Cup pod. This particular medium roast coffee is marketed as a globe-trotting blend, but it lands with a thud. There’s an unexpected fruity aftertaste, and it just tastes off.
27. Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Black Granite, 57¢ per podCourtesy Jo Ann Liguori
The name fits: It’s really dark and really heavy—almost too dark and heavy. It’s a very intense roast, with a sharp, almost ashy edge that lingers long after the last sip.
26. Victor Allen’s French Roast, 56¢ per podCourtesy Jo Ann Liguori
I found this dark roast quite bitter, with a burnt taste. And since I don’t like burnt toast, why would I like burnt coffee?
25. Keurig Coffee Collective Whole Hearted, 69¢ per podCourtesy Jo Ann Liguori
According to the brand, this dark roast coffee has “robust notes of dark chocolate and roasted walnut finish with a smoky depth that lingers.” I agree with all of that, especially the fact that the smokiness lingers—way too long for my taste.
24. Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Caramel Vanilla Cream, 57¢ per podCourtesy Jo Ann Liguori
Right out of the gate (er, machine), this flavored option smells divine. But it smells better than it tastes. It’s sweet and vanilla-y, but the coffee base is kind of bitter and just a supporting character. And despite the moniker, there’s nothing creamy here.
23. Keurig Coffee Collective Bold Beats, 69¢ per podCourtesy Jo Ann Liguori
Though this variety is labeled “medium-dark,” it skews darker than expected. It’s bold and intense, kind of smoky, but falls flat. Side note: I think this experiment has taught me that I’m not a huge fan of dark roasts.
22. Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Dark Magic, 57¢ per podCourtesy Jo Ann Liguori
And yet…I don’t hate this dark roast option. Maybe because it’s deep and dramatic, almost like cocoa, it tastes toasty but not charred, and it’s not overly bitter.
21. Keurig Coffee Collective Bright Idea, 69¢ per podCourtesy Jo Ann Liguori
True to its name, this one is bright and crisp, but it’s more acidic than I expected for a light roast. It’s drinkable but not very memorable.
20. Victor Allen’s Donut Shop Blend, 59¢ per podCourtesy Jo Ann Liguori
I found this coffee smooth and mellow, with a classic diner-style profile. It’s balanced and easygoing, though a little thin compared to some of the other medium roasts I tried.
19. Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Hazelnut, 57¢ per podCourtesy Jo Ann Liguori
This flavored K-Cup is very sweet and buttery with a smooth coffee base. The hazelnut is noticeable but not overpowering—and thankfully not overly artificial.
18. Good & Gather Vanilla Bean Brûlée, 84¢ per podCourtesy Jo Ann Liguori
This flavored coffee pod has warm, pronounced vanilla notes with a hint of sweetness (I guess that’s the brûlée part of the name). It’s pleasant and tastes indulgent, not fake.
17. Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Half-Caff, 57¢ per podCourtesy Jo Ann Liguori
This medium-roast is smooth and drinkable, but it doesn't stand out. I do like that it’s only half-caffeinated, so I can drink it later in the day with fewer consequences.
16. Keurig Coffee Collective Warm Hug, 69¢ per podCourtesy Jo Ann Liguori
I think this is my favorite of this new Keurig premium lineup. It’s cozy and sweet, with comforting flavor notes of caramel, cinnamon and brown sugar. It’s the kind of flavored coffee you want to drink while curled up under a blanket.
15. McCafé Breakfast Blend, 59¢ per podCourtesy Jo Ann Liguori
Light, crisp and easy to drink, this light roast K-Cup brings gentle acidity and a clean finish. It’s a mellow way to start the day without overwhelming your palate, but not my fave of the McDonald’s options I tried.
14. Good & Gather House Blend, 84¢ per podCourtesy Jo Ann Liguori
This Target brand pod is balanced, smooth and approachable—a decent everyday medium roast coffee option that keeps things simple. But I don’t think there’s anything special enough to justify holding the highest price point on the list.
13. Starbucks Pike Place Roast, 71¢ per podCourtesy Jo Ann Liguori
To me, this tastes darker than a typical medium roast. Though I guess that’s par for the course with Starbucks coffee, which has a rep for being on the bitter (almost burnt) side of the java spectrum. I found it to be smooth and relatively balanced, with subtle cocoa notes.
12. McCafé Espresso Roast, 59¢ per podCourtesy Jo Ann Liguori
This dark roast almost tastes like “real” brewed espresso, robust and bold. I can picture myself drinking this while in a piazza in Italy (and not just because I’m jealous of my teenage nephew who’s in Rome as I’m writing this review).
11. Peet’s Coffee Major Dickason’s Blend, 68¢ per podCourtesy Jo Ann Liguori
According to Peet’s, this dark roast blend of Latin American and Indo-Pacific beans is named after loyal customer Key Dickason and is the chain’s all-time best-seller. I’m surprised that I like it as much as I do, considering how intense it is. But it’s bold without being harsh and really flavorful, with deep chocolate, spicy notes, and earthy undertones. It’s good black and even better with milk.
10. The Original Donut Shop Vanilla Latte, 74¢ per podCourtesy Jo Ann Liguori
Not gonna lie: This sweet, creamy vanilla drink is delicious—but it’s not like the other entries on this list. It’s coffee, sweetener and creamer in a single pod, so it’s great for a quick latte without any extra equipment. Keep in mind that a cup of this flavored K-Cup pod has 100 calories, whereas black coffee has under 5.
9. Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Breakfast Blend, 57¢ per podCourtesy Jo Ann Liguori
This light roast is bright, mild and smooth. It’s my favorite of the light roasts I tested and quite pleasant, though it doesn’t provide as much oomph as I normally need in the a.m.
8. Cinnabon Classic Cinnamon Roll, 59¢ per podCourtesy Jo Ann Liguori
A cup of this tastes like a visit to the mall in the best way possible: the flavor of the chain’s ooey-gooey pastry, but none of the calories! It’s very cinnamon-forward (duh) and slightly sweet, but you can still taste coffee. This is easily my favorite of the flavored pods I tried.
7. The Original Donut Shop Regular, 59¢ per podCourtesy Jo Ann Liguori
A pleasant, serviceable cup of medium roast coffee. It’s smooth, balanced and easy to drink, with no noticeable bitterness—exactly what you’d expect from a basic diner-style brew. I wish I had a donut to dunk in it.
6. Dunkin’ Original Blend, 68¢ per podCourtesy Jo Ann Liguori
True confession: I run on Dunkin’…when I'm out and about. The medium roast K-Cup doesn’t taste exactly like the coffee sold in stores (which is a little disappointing), but it’s smooth, mellow and built for everyday sipping—comforting, if not complex.
5. La Colombe Nizza, 78¢ per podCourtesy Jo Ann Liguori
My first impression leaned a bit bitter, but that quickly softened. The flavor settles into something notably smooth, with gentle nutty and chocolatey notes. I could see drinking this medium roast K-Cup often, but its higher price point dinged its rating.
4. Newman’s Own Organic Special Blend, 59¢ per podCourtesy Jo Ann Liguori
I found this one to be smooth, balanced and robust with no bitter aftertaste. This medium roast coffee is also certified organic and fair trade, and, like all Newman’s Own products, the profits go to charity. So you’re doing good while getting your caffeine hit.
3. Caribou Coffee Caribou Blend, 62¢ per podCourtesy Jo Ann Liguori
This one delivers a bold, rich flavor without the harsh bitterness that often comes with strong coffee, and the medium roast has far more depth than expected. It’s got a smooth, slightly savory backbone, complemented by gentle woodsy spice, faint caramel and fruit notes. It’s full-bodied yet easy to drink, making for a standout cup of coffee.
2. Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Nantucket Blend, 57¢ per podCourtesy Jo Ann Liguori
Though labeled a medium roast, this blend includes some French roast beans. It drinks lighter than expected, with subtle chocolate notes and mild sweetness. It’s full-bodied but not heavy or bitter, and very pleasant. I could see myself drinking this every morning.
1. McCafé Premium Roast, 59¢ per podCourtesy Jo Ann Liguori
I was surprised by how perfect this medium roast coffee is. It’s got a rich aroma, remarkably smooth flavor and just enough complexity to keep things interesting. It manages to be both comforting and satisfying, with a polish that stands above the rest. As they say in the ads for the Golden Arches: I’m lovin’ it.

1985 Pop Hit Reaches Major Milestone 40 Years Later
Madonna was everywhere back in the 1980s as she capitulated to stardom. Not much has changed in the last 40 years with the singer or her music.
In fact, four decades later, Madonna’s classic hits are still reaching significant milestones. The latest one is her 1985 song “Into the Groove,” which re-entered the UK Top 40 just months before the 40th anniversary of its initial release.
The Official Charts Company shared the news on social media saying, “The #Gymskin hype is real, as Madonna's Into The Groove re-enters the Top 40 for the first time in 40 years thanks to the internet sensation!”
Gymskin is a 26-year-old England-born fitness influencer with a huge following. He recently posted a video of himself dancing to "Into the Groove," which the Official Charts Company believes helped the Madonna song return to the UK Top 40.

♬ Into The Groove (You Can Dance Remix Edit) [2022 Remaster] - Madonna“Into the Groove” came out on July 15, 1985. It was the single for Madonna’s film Desperately Seeking Susan with Rosanna Arquette and Aidan Quinn. The film was considered Madonna’s first acting role, even though she had a small role in the 1979 movie A Certain Sacrifice.
Although Madonna had several chart-topping hits by 1985, “Into the Groove” gave the Queen of Pop her first number-one hit in the UK and Spain. In true Madonna fashion, she made sure to create an iconic video for the song, featuring moments from Desperately Seeking Susan.

The song was initially released on the Desperately Seeking Susan soundtrack. However, Madonna also added “Into the Groove” to the international reissues of her infamous album Like a Virgin, which also happened to be in 1985.
Nearly 40 years after Madonna released “Into the Groove,” the song keeps finding new listeners and keeps reminding her longtime fans of the good old days.

Alysa Liu Says Her Dad 'Didn't Deserve to be Happy' Over Skating Comeback in Bold Interview
Alysa Liu’s Olympic comeback may have been celebrated across the United States, but the figure skating star says her father’s reaction to the news didn’t sit right with her.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone shared Saturday, March 7, the 20-year-old Team USA standout opened up about her complicated feelings when her dad, Arthur Liu, expressed happiness over her decision to return to competitive skating.
“I don't know. I have no idea. I mean, he was happy. But that didn't matter to me. I didn't care that he was happy. I was almost mad that he was happy, because I was like, 'How dare you?'” Alysa declared.
She went on to explain that her frustration stemmed from how involved her father had been earlier in her career: “Well, I was just like, 'You don't deserve to be happy over this decision, kind of. Because you were mad when I quit.' So I was kind of like, he shouldn't have an opinion on it at all, if that makes sense. I didn't want him to be mad that I was coming back; I just didn't want him to care. Like, at all. because it shouldn't affect him as much as it did the last time around.”
View this post on InstagramAlysa also clarified that she never “fired” her dad, and said simply that “he was never there.”
Arthur played a major role in his daughter’s early skating career, investing heavily in her development. He once said he spent between $500,000 and $1 million supporting Alysa’s training and rise through the competitive ranks.

But that level of involvement also contributed to Liu feeling burned out. After competing in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, she stepped away from the sport entirely, revealing her retirement on Instagram. “I didn’t tell anybody, because I knew I was going to get some pushback, and then I posted about it and that’s how everybody found out,” Alysa noted in the interview.
“Everybody was freaking out and a lot of people were getting mad at me,” Alysa said, revealing that some were angry she didn’t tell them personally. “Yeah, that’s the point, because I knew people would try to keep me in the sport.”
Her return eventually led to one of the most remarkable comebacks in recent Olympic history. At the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina, Liu captured two gold medals and became the first American woman to win Olympic singles gold since Sarah Hughes in 2002.
“I literally can’t process this,” Liu said afterward, according to USA Today.
Steve Buscemi, 68, Hits the Red Carpet With His New Wife and Looks So Happy
Steve Buscemi has faced plenty of life's ups and downs, and the beloved star seems to be thriving alongside his new wife, Karen Ho.
Buscemi, who is known for diverse roles ranging from Reservoir Dogs and Fargo to Billy Madison and Armageddon, recently appeared in Season 2 of the beloved Netflix series Wednesday opposite Jenna Ortega. He played Barry Dort, the new principal of Nevermore Academy. The film icon and Ho looked happier than ever as they hit the red carpet premiere of The Bride! in New York this week at the Rose Theater.

What Has Steve Buscemi Said About Losing His First Wife? It's Buscemi’s real-life challenges that make his journey so relatable. The actor recently opened up about losing his first wife in 2019 and his decision to remarry last year. In an interview with the New York Times back in August, the typically quiet star spoke candidly about the loss of his wife of more than 30 years, filmmaker and artist Jo Andres, who died in 2019 of a rare bowel cancer.
During the interview, Buscemi’s eyes welled up with tears while speaking about his late wife. Buscemi said he still owned the Brooklyn brownstone they lived in, “but it’s not right for me anymore, you know? It’s just — it’s too big.”
The actor also noted that “grief is not linear” and that it can coexist with happy times.
How Did Steve Buscemi Find Love Again?Buscemi has found some of those happy times, too. In 2025, Buscemi remarried. But instead of sticking with someone in the entertainment industry, his wife doesn’t work in it. She doesn’t even share the same taste as him, with Buscemi noting that “her tastes are totally different from mine in movies,” he told the Times. The couple recently found a new place in Manhattan together.
The piece also noted that Buscemi has managed to serve as a guiding light for his costars. Ortega told the publication how much of an inspiration he is to her.
“Without trying to be or in any sort of patronizing ways, he is a great source of wisdom and advice and life lessons,” she explained.

Apple Turns 50: Steve Wozniak and Tim Cook Reflect on Special Moments With Steve Jobs
Apple was founded nearly 50 years ago on April 1, 1976, and no one would have imagined they'd eventually become one of the most ubiquitous technology companies in the modern world—including the company's cofounder, Steve Wozniak. The father of modern computers met Steve Jobs five years earlier on the a sidewalk in Cupertino, and the rest was history.

"Who was to know there was gonna be a company in the future?" Wozniak told CBS Good Morning's David Pogue for his upcoming book Apple: The First 50 Years. Wozniak was a 21-year-old engineering prodigy at the time, and Jobs was still a 16-year-old high school student, but he had a vision.
"Steve Jobs wanted a company, and did it. And I was his resource!" Wozniak told Pogue. Wozniak built a rudimentary computer, and Jobs immediately suggested they start selling it. And they did! While they sold a meager 150 of Wozniak's first project, his second was the iconic Apple II, which went on to sell 6 million.
"It was so far above any of the other computers coming out!" Wozniak said of the shocking success. "We didn't foresee the future, the way it turned out. But we said, 'For today, we're taking a step forward ahead of others.'"
But Wozniak's genius wasn't enough to keep Apple thriving without Jobs' visionary leadership. When Jobs left the company in 1985 following a clash with then-CEO John Sculley, Apple spent more than a decade sliding backwards. Now-CEO Tim Cook tells Pogue it was "bleak," the company had no direction and "very little cash."

That changed when Jobs returned in 1997, shook things up by cancelling all but two products in development, and hired Cook to be his right hand as the head of operations.
Cook remembers being immediately in awe of Jobs. "I saw in Steve something I'd never seen in a CEO before. He is a once-in-a-thousand-years kind of person," he explained. And the feeling with seemingly mutual.

Jobs was diagnosed with a rare form of pancreatic cancer in October 2003, and battled it for years before resigning in Aug. 24, 2011, less than two months before hie October 5 death. Before that, he asked Cook specifically to be his successor.
"He called me over to his house," Cook recalled. "And his advice to me was, 'Never ask what I would do. Just do the right thing.' And I'll never forget that."
Apple: The First 50 Years is set to be released on March 10.
Michael J. Fox Has 'Serious' Reunion With 'Bestie' Christopher Lloyd
Michael J. Fox just had a nostalgic reunion dinner that feels straight out of Back to the Future.
The beloved actor recently shared a new photo with his longtime friend and costar Christopher Lloyd during a beachside dinner.
“Dining with my bestie at the beach. Next year BTTF is 41. Great Scott. Chris will be 8️⃣8️⃣. That’s some serious shit,” Fox wrote in the Instagram caption.
The reunion quickly caught the attention of fans, who have long cherished the bond between Fox, 64, and Lloyd, 87, who played Marty McFly and eccentric scientist Doc Brown, respectively, in the legendary Back to the Future trilogy. The films, which debuted in 1985, remain some of the most beloved entries in pop culture, with the duo’s dynamic at the heart of the franchise’s enduring appeal.
“Imagine casually eating food and looking over to see this table,” one fan noted in the comments.
“With your bestie. Oh my days. My heart just melted 🥹❤️,” another wrote.
A third said, ”Many more great memories ahead for you and The Doc. 💙”
Over the years, the actors have reunited many times at fan events and conventions, but it’s the casual moments like this that spark the most excitement among longtime viewers.
View this post on InstagramFox has previously spoken about how meaningful his relationship with Lloyd became during the making of the films. In an October 2025 interview with Parade, he recalled one of the most emotionally demanding scenes in the original movie. After Marty believes Doc has been shot by terrorists, the character breaks down in grief—only for Doc to later reveal he survived thanks to a bulletproof vest.

Fox admitted the scene pushed him as a young actor. At the time, he was only 23 years old, and even executive producer Steven Spielberg wasn’t sure he could handle the dramatic shift in tone. “He didn’t think I’d be able to do it,” Fox said. “It’s like I had to go from 90 miles per hour and just drop and be like, ‘My friend is dead.’ It’s a morose moment.”
The emotional scene ultimately became one of the film’s most memorable moments and a mirror of their real-live connection. And judging by Fox’s latest post, that friendship is still going strong.
1970 Top 5 One-Hit Wonder Was Written in 15 Minutes— 'It Just Sounded Too Good'
In 1970, Norman Greenbaum’s life changed when his song “Spirit in the Sky” became a hit. The song peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 on April 18, 1970, just four months after it was released as the first single from the singer-songwriter's debut 1969 album of the same name. It also ranked on Billboard’s year-end list as one of the top songs of 1970.
“Spirit in the Sky” went certified gold, with more than two million copies sold from 1969 to 1970, per The New York Times. It was the only hit of Greenbaum’s career, confirming his status as a “one-hit wonder.”
“Spirit in the Sky” is known for its distorted electric guitar riff, which admittedly took Greenbaum a while to perfect. But the real meat of the song— lyrics filled with religious references—was penned in record time after Greenbaum caught Porter Wagoner singing a gospel song on TV.
“I thought, 'Yeah, I could do that,' knowing nothing about gospel music, so I sat down and wrote my own gospel song,” Greenbaum, now 83, told the Times in 2014. “It came easy. I wrote the words in 15 minutes."
Greenbaum shared the backstory on ‘Spirit in the Sky’In an interview with Rolling Stone, Greenbaum, who was raised Jewish, revealed that the idea for “Spirit in the Sky” came after he saw a greeting card with those four words on it and became intrigued.
“I just put it in the back of my head,” he said. “Then I happened to be watching Porter Wagoner. He had a TV show, and he did a religious song halfway through the show. …I said to myself, ‘Well, I’ve never written a religious song. I’ve written some oddball songs, but some serious song, I can do that.’ I just sat down, and it all came together.”
“The lyrics came really quick,” he added. “When I started putting the music to that, that took a little more time.“

Greenbaum noted that he received pushback from record company executives when he first presented the Jesus-themed song to them.
“There was resistance to releasing ‘Spirit in the Sky’ as a single,” the songwriter told the Times. “First of all, it was too long. It’s about four minutes. Plus, it was so weird. Here’s a Jew singing about Jesus with this fuzz box going ‘brrrrrr.’”
It also didn’t sound like anything else on the radio at the time.
“At first the record company said, ‘Gee, they don’t play anything like this on Top 20,'” Greenbaum told Rolling Stone. “But obviously they were wrong. We always knew it was going to be a hit. It just sounded too good.”

A resurgence in the ‘80sMore than 15 years after its release, “Spirit in the Sky” got a boost when it was featured on the soundtrack to the film Maid to Order. The musical cameo in the Ally Sheedy film led to more movie and advertising deals for everything from Apollo 13 to Toyota commercials.
Greenbaum receives a check each time his song is used. “Because of ‘Spirit in the Sky,’ I don’t have to work,” he said in the 2014 interview.
As for that one-hit wonder label, Greenbaum has said he has no problem with it. “Rather than just a song, it’s become an amazing piece of work,” he once said in an interview published by The Daily Democrat. “When you write songs, you don’t expect them to last almost 50 years and get so much attention.”
11 Best Self-Tanners for a Natural Glow, Professional Spray-Tan Stylists Reveal
Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.
If you've ever applied self-tanner and ended up looking like an Oompa Loompa with streaky ankles and orange palms, you weren't using the wrong product—you were skipping crucial tanning prep steps and probably applying too much at once. Professional spray tan artists who've worked with every skin tone and age for years will tell you the same thing: the most expensive self-tanner on the market will look terrible if you skip exfoliation, rush the application or forget to moisturize dry areas first.
The goal of self-tanner isn't to change your skin tone entirely, it's to enhance what you already have with a healthy-looking glow that mimics what you'd get from vacation (minus the sun damage, premature aging and skin cancer risk).
Understanding the different types of self-tanner formulas changes which one you choose. Mousses are lightweight and develop quickly into deeper color, making them popular for full-body tans and anyone who wants dramatic results. Lotions feel more like skincare, take longer to dry, but are incredibly hydrating and forgiving, which makes them ideal for drier or more mature skin that needs extra moisture.
Drops allow you to customize your glow by mixing them into your existing skincare or moisturizer, giving you complete control over intensity. Sprays distribute product evenly and help with hard-to-reach spots, but usually need blending to avoid patchy areas. The real difference beyond format comes down to formulation quality—a well-made self-tanner will never smell terrible, and it will absorb evenly, complement your undertone and fade like a natural tan rather than clinging to dry patches or turning orange.
The application technique matters even more than the formula you choose. Exfoliate gently 24 hours before tanning (not the day of, which can increase sensitivity), then lightly moisturize dry areas like hands, elbows, knees and ankles right before applying—this prevents the tanner from developing darker in those spots. Always use a tanning mitt and apply in thin layers, building color gradually rather than going dark all at once.
The pros also gave Parade a crucial tip for hands: never use the mitt directly on your hands. Instead, use a blush brush to apply a tiny amount of product, which prevents the dreaded dark orange palms you see on amateur self-tanners. And here's what separates natural-looking tans from obvious fakes: look for formulas that contain both DHA (the primary tanning active) and erythrulose, which develops more slowly and helps neutralize orange tones for a more balanced, natural result.
We consulted professional spray tan artists who've tanned celebrities, worked in top studios and understand how different formulas truly perform on real skin to find out the 11 best self-tanners that actually deliver natural-looking color. Here are their top picks for a glow that looks like vacation, not desperation.
Related: The Viral Trend That Actually Raises Your Risk for Skin Cancer
Common Types of Self-TannersThe format you choose should match your skill level, skin type and how much time you have. Brittney Bennett, founder at Be Bronze Studio, breaks down the categories clearly.
"Mousses are typically lightweight, fast-developing, give a deeper result," she explains. "Lotions are more hydrating and forgiving while gradually developing over a couple days, which makes them ideal for drier or more mature skin. Drops allow you to customize your glow by mixing them into your skincare. Sprays give a lighter, more even application."
Audrey Spina, professional spray tan artist at Sweetheart Tan, adds practical context.
"Mousse dries fastest and is popular for full-body tans. Lotions feel more like skincare and are beginner-friendly but slower to dry. Sprays are quick for touch-ups or backs of legs but usually need blending to avoid uneven spots," she notes.
The key distinction comes down to formulation quality. Bennett emphasizes this.
"A formula with good ingredients will never smell, absorb evenly, complement your undertone and fade like a natural tan, not flake or cling to dry areas," she shares.

Mature skin needs hydration and buildable formulas more than dark, instant color. Bennett has seen this firsthand over the years of working with every age.
"With mature skin, the priority shifts from 'how dark can I go?' to 'how healthy can my skin look?' Formulation matters more than depth of color," she explains.
As we age, skin becomes drier and more delicate, so she always recommends a hydrating, fragrance-free and alcohol-free formula to avoid further dehydration or emphasizing texture.
Tricia Trimble, founder of sun care brand Suntegrity, agrees on formulation.
"In my experience, the best self-tanner for older skin is a moisturizing lotion that's buildable or drops that can be mixed into a rich body moisturizer," she states. "As skin ages, it naturally becomes drier and a bit crepier, so products can [be applied unevenly] and result in streaking. I always recommend looking for buildable formulas with hydrating and moisturizing ingredients like aloe, glycerin and nourishing butters."
What to avoid is just as important. Trimble warns to "avoid ultra-dark formulas and very fast-drying mousses, as they can settle into fine lines if the skin isn't perfectly prepped and the product isn't perfectly applied. Hydration is key. When the skin looks healthy, the tan looks healthy."
For professional spray tans, Bennett often suggests clear solutions (bronzer-free options) that deliver beautiful color without heavy cosmetic bronzer that can settle into fine lines or highlight sunspots. At home, she recommends a hydrating gradual tanner that builds slowly while nourishing the skin. For example, Bennett's brand Be Bronze offers an all-natural 8-ingredient formula that she notes has less harmful dyes and no alcohol to help support mature skin.

The 11 Best Self-Tanners for a Natural Glow, Professional Spray-Tan Stylists RevealBest Overall: St. Tropez Self Tan Express Mousse, $46Sephora
Spina chose this as her best overall pick for its reliability and professional-quality results. The express formula lets you control how deep you want to go based on how long you leave it on before rinsing—1 hour for a light glow, 2-3 hours for medium or leave it on longer for a deep bronze.
The lightweight mousse applies smoothly, dries quickly and develops into a natural-looking tan that doesn't streak or turn orange. The color guide tint lets you see exactly where you've applied, so you don't miss spots. It's the gold standard that professional spray tan artists recommend when clients ask what to use at home between appointments.
Best Budget: b.tan I Want the Darkest Tan Possible Mousse, $13Amazon
Spina specifically loves this for delivering serious color at a drugstore price. The name tells you exactly what you're getting—this is for people who want deep, dramatic bronze without spending $40+ on a bottle. The triple-action tan technology develops quickly and lasts longer than typical budget tanners. The mousse texture applies smoothly and the color develops evenly without patchiness. The fresh coconut scent is pleasant rather than that typical self-tanner smell. For the price point, the quality is impressive—you're getting results that rival luxury brands.
Best Long-Lasting: Bondi Sands Aero Self Tanning Foam, $29Amazon
Spina chose this for its exceptional staying power. The enriched formula with aloe vera and coconut keeps skin hydrated, which helps the tan last longer without fading unevenly or clinging to dry patches. The continuous spray application makes it easy to reach your back and other awkward spots without help. The lightweight foam dries quickly and develops into a natural-looking olive tone rather than orange. With proper prep and care, this can last up to a week or more. The Australian brand is beloved by spray tan professionals for delivering salon-quality results at home.
Best Mousse: Coco and Eve Sunny Honey Bali Bronzing Foam, $38Amazon
Spina specifically chose this mousse for its superior formulation. The DHA blend is enriched with coconut, fig and cacao for a nourishing tan that actually improves skin texture. The mousse applies like velvet and dries quickly without any sticky feeling. The color develops into a natural golden bronze that suits most skin tones. The tropical scent is genuinely pleasant—think vacation, not chemicals. The luxurious tanning mitt and applicator that comes with it make application foolproof. This is the mousse that converts people who thought they hated self-tanner.
Best No-Transfer: Tan Luxe The Water Hydrating Self Tan Water, $53Amazon
Spina loves this for its unique water-based formula that dries instantly. Unlike traditional tanners that can transfer onto sheets and clothes, this clear water absorbs immediately into the skin without any sticky residue. The hydrating formula contains raspberry seed extract and vitamin E to nourish while it tans.
You can get dressed minutes after applying it, without worrying about staining your clothes. The gradual, buildable color develops naturally over 4-6 hours. It's perfect for anyone who doesn't want to wait around naked or sleep on dark towels. The subtle color develops beautifully without any orange tones.
Best Quick-Developing: Dolce Glow Express Tanning Mousse, $49Sephora
Sophia Avanzato, founder and lead sunless tanning specialist at Main Line Spray Tan, chose this for rapid development. While she notes that all DHA develops at about the same rate, express formulas let you rinse off the color guide sooner while the tan continues developing underneath. This particular mousse can be rinsed after just 1-2 hours for a light glow or left on up to 8 hours for deeper color. The quick-developing formula is perfect for last-minute events when you need color fast. The organic ingredients and hydrating formula keep skin soft while it tans.
Best for Face: Isle of Paradise Self Tanning Drops, $30Sephora
Spina specifically loves these for facial tanning. The concentrated drops let you customize exactly how much color you want by mixing 1-12 drops into your regular moisturizer or serum. The color-correcting actives are designed for facial skin—peach tones for fair skin, green for medium and violet for deeper tones.
The formula contains hyaluronic acid, chia seed extract and avocado oil to hydrate and plump while it tans. You get a natural-looking glow that develops gradually without streaking or settling into fine lines. Bennett also loves tanning waters and drops for the face, noting they give a hydrating glow that looks natural.
Best Smelling: Bali Body Self Tanning Mousse, $30Ulta
Spina chose this specifically for its incredible scent. Most self-tanners have that distinctive biscuit-y smell that's a telltale sign you're fake-tanned. This smells like an actual tropical vacation—coconut, vanilla and cocoa butter without any of that DHA smell.
The lightweight mousse applies smoothly and dries quickly. The color develops into a natural bronze that suits most skin tones. The formula contains coconut oil and vitamin E to hydrate while it tans. If you've been avoiding self-tanner because of the smell, this changes everything.
Best for Sensitive Skin: Tan Luxe The Gradual Lotion, $34Ulta
Spina chose this for reactive or easily irritated skin. The gradual daily moisturizer builds color slowly over several applications, which means less concentrated DHA in contact with sensitive skin at once. The nourishing formula contains aloe vera, raspberry seed extract and vitamin E to calm and hydrate. It's fragrance-free to avoid triggering sensitivities.
The slow build means you can stop whenever you reach your desired shade rather than committing to one dark application. The lotion texture feels like a regular body moisturizer, making it perfect for people new to self-tanning who want to ease in gently.
Best for Beginners: Isle of Paradise Self Tanning Oil Mist, $32Sephora
Spina specifically loves this for first-time self-tanners. The clear water formula is less intimidating than dark mousses—you can see exactly where you're applying with the tinted guide, but it's not as scary as thick brown foam.
The lightweight texture spreads easily and dries quickly. The buildable color develops gradually, so if you mess up, it's not a disaster. The three shades (light, medium, dark) are color-corrected to suit different undertones. If you're nervous about trying self-tanner, this is the most forgiving entry point.
Best Gradual: Jergens Natural Glow Firming Moisturizer, $11Target
Avanzato chose this drugstore classic for gradual color building. The daily moisturizer builds subtle color over 5-7 days of consistent use, giving you complete control over how deep you go. The firming formula contains collagen and elastin to improve skin texture while it tans.
The light, fresh scent is pleasant rather than chemical. It's foolproof because the color develops so slowly you can't really mess it up—just apply like regular lotion every day until you reach your desired shade, then maintain it with every other day application. Perfect for anyone who wants a subtle glow without the commitment or stress of instant tanners

8 Carry-On Essentials That Make Long Flights Easier
Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.
Comfort is key when traveling, especially on long flights where you might be stuck in a less-than-ideal seat, dealing with delays, or realizing your chair barely reclines. On a recent long trip to South Africa, my plane didn’t have Wi-Fi or seatback TVs, which made me even more aware of the items I rely on to stay comfortable and grounded in the air.
As someone who covers travel and lifestyle for outlets like Coveteur, Martha Stewart Weddings and Harper’s Bazaar, I’ve learned how to choose products that are genuinely practical and useful for long trips no matter where you’re going. Ahead, eight practical carry-on essentials that make long travel days feel easier, all available on Amazon.

A plush silk sleep mask is one of those items you don’t think much about until you’re on a long flight and desperately trying to rest. I like an oversized style that fully blocks out light and has a wider band that covers the ears, which helps soften cabin noise and keeps earplugs from shifting. Made from mulberry silk, it feels gentle and breathable, which matters in dry airplane cabins and makes resting in transit feel far more doable.
BEDELITE Travel Blanket with BagThis is one of my favorite two-in-one travel items because it actually earns its spot in a carry-on. Zipped up, it works as an extra pillow for flights or airport lounges, and once you open it, there's a plush blanket that adds much-needed warmth and comfort in chilly cabins. It attaches easily to a suitcase or backpack, which makes it simple to carry through the airport.

If you travel with a Kindle or iPad and like to watch movies on long flights, a sturdy stand makes a bigger difference than you’d expect. I always preload my favorites, and having a holder that doesn’t wobble or flop over makes hands-free viewing far more comfortable, especially when tray tables are cramped. This one folds completely flat, so it’s easy to pack and doesn’t add bulk to your carry-on.
SALT & STONE Aluminum Free DeodorantDeodorant is one of those items that really matters on long travel days when you want to feel comfortable and put together. Wearing deodorant is a no-brainer, but this one is always in my carry-on because it smells incredible and has clean ingredients that make reapplying easy without irritation. It lasts through hours of flying and walking through airports, glides on clear, and feels gentle on skin, making it one less thing to think about while traveling.
Proper, The Oranges Immune Support SupplementI pride myself on not getting sick often and (knock on wood) very rarely do, especially considering how much I travel, and I genuinely think a big part of that comes down to hydration, sleep and supporting my immune system. I bring this immune-support powder with me because it’s easy to mix into water, actually tastes delicious and I drink it before, during and after my trip to help keep my routine consistent on the road.
ITODA Portable Travel SlipperOn long flights, I always kick off my shoes and slip into a pair of lightweight slippers, which instantly makes being on a plane feel more comfortable. They’re also something I always bring for hotels, since not every property provides them and if they do, they’re not always your size. A soft, closed-toe style with a sturdy sole is easy to pack, works for quick trips down the hall or to the bathroom and makes both flying and hotel stays feel far more relaxed.
ANRABESS Women 2 Piece Lounge SetLounge sets are one of the best travel hacks for looking chic while staying comfortable, and I own this set in multiple colors and love to travel in. The oversized half-zip top and wide-leg drawstring pants feel relaxed enough for long flights but still look intentional when you’re moving through the airport or heading straight to your destination.

This camomile tea with 1 mg of melatonin is a gentler way to ease jet lag and relax before bed or a nap without waking up feeling groggy.

‘80s Country Icon, With 3 Top 10 Hits, Turns 62
Jennifer McCarter broke into the ‘80s country music scene with a string of memorable hits.
Considered one of the powerhouses of that era, along with her group, The McCarters, the Tennessee native celebrates a major milestone as she turns 62.
Born on March 7, 1964, in Sevierville, music is something etched in her soul and a passion she grew up with thanks to her musically inclined family.
At a young age, she and her twin sisters were introduced to harmonies and singing, which would later lead them to form a group called The McCarters.
With Jennifer’s striking voice, she became the lead vocalist while Lisa and Teresa McCarter sang harmony vocals.

While country music was booming in the ‘80s, especially in Tennessee, where the genre’s roots ran deep, the McCarters managed to break through and captivate listeners with their unique identity and music that seamlessly blended traditional country with pop music.
With the launch of their professional career in the late ‘80s, they were signed under Warner Bros Records and were able to release their debut album The Gift.
Their single “I Give You Music” peaked at No. 28 on the US Country charts.
View this post on InstagramMeanwhile, the song “The Gift” jumped to fourth spot in the Billboard Hot Country Songs while "Timeless and True Love," which was the group’s first single, entered at No. 5.
Their second album experienced the same success after releasing "Up and Gone" in 1990 which was part of their second album Better Be Home Soon.
Interestingly, it was their first album under the group’s new name, Jennifer McCarter & The McCarters, a strategic move by the recording company to spotlight Jennifer’s role as the lead singer.
Unfortunately, this was also their last album as a trio, but they remained active, touring and performing live, especially in Europe.
With the momentum fading, the group disbanded sometime in the early ‘90s, but Jennifer continued to pursue music and formed a new group in 2017 called Them Rubies.
As she celebrates 62, the country icon’s story is a reminder that music is more than a career, it is a lifelong journey, one she’s still passionately following today.

'50s Rock Legend Ranked Among Top 5 'Greatest Songwriters' of All Time Only Had One No. 1 Hit
Music pioneer Chuck Berry is widely regarded as the Father of Rock & Roll, but despite serving as a trailblazer of the genre, the hitmaker surprisingly only notched one No. 1 hit on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart during his career.
Few artists shaped rock music the way Berry did. From electrifying guitar riffs to witty storytelling lyrics, and the iconic duck walk, he helped define the sound and attitude of rock and roll—and decades later, critics still consider him one of the greatest songwriters in music history. When Rolling Stone compiled its list of the 100 Greatest Songwriters of All Time, Berry ranked among the top five—an extraordinary honor that places him alongside legends like Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, andJohn Lennon.
But here’s the surprising twist: despite his towering influence and iconic catalog, Berry scored only one No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 during his entire career.
A Songwriting Pioneer Who Defined Rock and RollBerry emerged in the mid-1950s as one of rock’s first true architects. Blending blues, country, and rhythm & blues, he created a style that would influence generations of musicians—from The Beatles and The Rolling Stones to modern rock bands. His songwriting stood out for its vivid storytelling and youthful themes—cars, school, teenage life, and romance—paired with instantly recognizable guitar hooks.
Songs like "Johnny B. Goode," "Maybellene," "Roll Over Beethoven," "Sweet Little Sixteen," and "Rock and Roll Music" became foundational rock classics and were later covered by countless artists. Many of Berry’s songs also earned spots on major “greatest songs of all time” lists, further cementing his legacy as one of rock’s most important lyricists and composers.

(Photo by Michael Ochs Archives/Getty Images) The Unexpected No. 1 HitFor all those legendary songs, none actually reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. His closest brush came in 1958, when “Sweet Little Sixteen” peaked at No. 2. Instead, Berry’s only chart-topping hit arrived much later—and with a song that many fans wouldn’t expect.
In 1972, Berry released a live version of "My Ding-a-Ling," a novelty tune originally written by Dave Bartholomew. Recorded during a performance at the Lanchester Arts Festival in England, the cheeky sing-along—packed with playful double entendres—became a surprise smash.
The track climbed to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Berry’s first and only chart-topping single in the U.S. Ironically, many critics and fans consider it far from Berry’s best work. But its humorous audience participation and catchy chorus made it irresistible to radio listeners at the time.
A Legacy Bigger Than the ChartsEven with just one No. 1 hit, Berry’s influence on music is immeasurable. His songwriting helped establish the blueprint for rock music, combining storytelling, rhythm, and electrifying guitar riffs that still echo through the genre today. Decades later, he remains not just a rock pioneer—but one of the greatest songwriters of all time, even if the charts only crowned him once.
Chuck Berry died on March 18, 2017, at the age of 90, due to cardiac arrest.
