Beloved Country Star Reveals He Secretly Got Married
Brett Eldredge just shared some unexpected news with fans.
The country singer revealed on Instagram on Monday, June 15, that he’s officially off the market, quietly marrying his longtime partner.
The video featured two photos of Eldredge with his new wife (who has not been identified), including one from their wedding day, set to an unreleased ballad. Alongside it, the 40-year-old reflected on how much his life has changed in the past few years.
"Over the last several years, life and my perception of it have changed dramatically. I met an amazing woman who truly loves me for me, way beyond the fella with a microphone," Eldredge wrote. "Someone who's just as goofy as I am. Someone who loves weird barefoot dance-offs in the living room, looking up at the night sky and wondering what lies beyond what we cannot see."
View this post on InstagramHe continued by describing their relationship before dropping the bomb. "Along the way, we got married," he shared. "To me, some of the best things in life are the ones you plant and grow quietly in your sacred space, away from the noise,” he continued, explaining that keeping that part of his life private was intentional."

He signed off the post by saying, “There are so many amazing things ahead, and after all this time, I’m so grateful I have such a beautiful soul to share it all with.”
While Eldredge hasn't shared additional details about his wife or their wedding, it’s big news nonetheless. He shared a few photos in the post, but was careful not to show his lover’s face. He also deactivated the comments.
It’s been a couple of big years for the singer. In 2025, he released a string of independent projects, including the Lonestar Lovers EP through his own Warm and Cozy Records. Before that, he continued one of his favorite musical traditions with the release of his third holiday album, Merry Christmas (Welcome to the Family), in late 2024, with Kelly Clarksonfeatured on the track “Sweet December.”

Country Star Suffers Unexpected ‘First-Time’ Onstage Malfunction
Carly Pearce handles onstage mishaps like a champ! The country music superstar, 36, recently proved that when she shook off the embarrassment of one of her loose hair extensions falling out in front of a massive crowd of people mid-show.
The moment happened over the weekend while Pearce was performing at the Woodstock Concert Summer Series in Woodstock, Georgia. A video taken by a fan, who presumably attended the concert, has been shared online, and begins with Pearce speaking to the audience.
In the clip, Pearce appears to try to move a strand of hair away from her face before she notices something is wrong with her locks.
“Uh oh,” the Grammy-winning country star can be heard saying over the microphone as she pulls out her loose hairpiece for all to see. “Wow, this has never happened to me.”
Making light of the situation as fans cheered her on in support, Pearce then tells a stagehand that she doesn’t need assistance, saying, “I’m just gonna clip it back in. It’s fine.”
Turning to the audience, she added, “If y’all think my hair’s real, it ain’t.”
“There’s a first time for everything…. Just keeping it real honest out here, y’all 😅,” Pearce also captioned the video on Instagram.
View this post on InstagramFans also took to the comments section of her post to applaud her swift recovery from the hair malfunction.
“I love your personality. Thanks for being real, and you sound amazing! Blew me away. Thanks for saying yes to a small show,” one person wrote, while another follower added, “I love you for your ability to be so real! @carlypearce you remain an inspiration and keep being unapologetically you, girl!”
A third fan commented, “This is one of the reasons your fans love you!”
This certainly isn’t the first time Pearce has been open and honest with her fans. She’s known for publicly sharing her vulnerability through her music and her health. And she has remained transparent over the years when it comes to talking about beauty.
In 2024, according to Country Living, Pearce turned to Instagram to reveal her onstage hair is “fake.”
“For all you gals who tell me every night how pretty my hair is.. it’s fake!!! This is my hair without any extensions. Here's to normalizing what’s real and what isn’t and being okay with it,” Pearse wrote, sharing a selfie of her real hair. “And I’ll send any of you the link if you want all that hair.”
Taylor Swift Just Broke a Billboard Hot 100 Record No Other Artist Has Reached This Century
Taylor Swift has officially made history with her latest song release.
"I Knew It, I Knew You," Swift's brand-new original song for the Toy Story 5 soundtrack, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, according to new chart standings dated the week of June 20.
The feel-good country song becomes Swift's 15th song to ever reach No. 1 on the Hot 100, making her the artist with the most Hot 100 No. 1 hits in the 21st century. She surpasses fellow music superstars Drake and Rihanna, who have each tallied up 14 No. 1's on the chart this century.
Swift now ranks third among the artists with the most No. 1 Hot 100 hits of all time, following behind The Beatleswith 20 and Mariah Carey with 19. (Some lists include Elvis Presley as No. 3, considering that many of his hit songs pre-dated the Hot 100, and others appeared on now-retired charts). But if we're talking official No. 1's, Swift is now in third place.
Taylor Swift's "I Knew It, I Knew You" Also Makes Disney HistoryIn addition to earning Swift another No. 1 hit on the Billboard 100, "I Knew It, I Knew You" also marks a noteworthy milestone for Disney. It is now the first-ever Disney soundtrack song to debut at No. 1 on the chart.
"We Don't Talk About Bruno" from Encanto also hit No. 1 in 2022, becoming the first Disney No. 1 song on the Hot 100 since "A Whole New World" from Aladdin went No. 1 in 1993, though neither of those hits debuted at the top spot.
"I Knew It, I Knew You" becomes Swift's 11th song to debut at the summit of the Hot 100, joining the ranks of other smash hits like "Shake It Off," "Look What You Made Me Do," "cardigan," "willow," "All Too Well (Taylor's Version)," "Anti-Hero," "Is It Over Now? (Taylor's Version)," "Fortnight," "The Fate of Ophelia" and "Opalite."

Brooklyn Beckham's DoorDash Ad Nods To Family Drama
Brooklyn Beckham is cashing in on his family drama.
On Monday, the son of soccer icon David Beckhamand Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, shared his new TV ad for DoorDash in which he subtly nodded to the fact that he's no longer speaking to his family.
"You're probably wondering why I'm watching the FIFA World Cup 2026 from home," he said, while holding tickets for the event. "It's a long story."
View this post on InstagramThe commercial comes months after Brooklyn publicly cut ties with his family in a scathing Instagram announcement earlier this year after tensions surrounding his wedding came to to Nicola Peltz in 2022 came to a head.
Savvy Instagram users though, were very aware of "the long story" and sounded off in the post's comments.
"When you have to keep having digs at your family to stay relevant," said one.
"Because ur [sic] father is there and u [sic] are in no speaking terms with your parents, duh," added another.
"Obvs because you sacked off your family for your wife," said a third. "They've stopped talking about you as you wanted so maybe you should do the same."

Brooklyn's January announcement shared details from his wedding where he claimed his mother Victoria, a fashion designer, "canceled making Nicola’s dress in the eleventh hour" and also “hijacked” his first dance with his wife and “danced very inappropriately on [him] in front of everyone.”
He also explained that the couple no longer wished to be a part of "Brand Beckham," which supposedly required Brooklyn to sign “away the rights to my name, which would have affected me, my wife, and our future children."
“I grew up with overwhelming anxiety," he also shared in his statement. "For the first time in my life, since stepping away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared. I wake up every morning grateful for the life I chose, and have found peace and relief...My wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press, or manipulation. All we want peace, privacy and happiness for us and our future family."

While Victoria and David have mostly stayed mum on the issue while speaking in various interviews since Brooklyn released the statement, Posh Spice talked about parenting in the public eye in April, briefly but didn't share specific details.
“We’ve always tried to be the best parents that we can be," she said. "And you know, we’ve been in the public eye for more than 30 years right now, and all we’ve tried to do is protect our children and love our children. And you know, that’s really all I want to say about it.”
The A-list parents also took to both of their Instagrams to wish Brooklyn a happy birthday in March, amid their estrangement, to which Brooklyn deemed "performative."
The rest of the family has continued to publicly document their endeavors, specifically as Brooklyn's younger brother Cruz's music career has started to flourish. David also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame last week. Brooklyn was not present for the ceremony.

I Work With Retirees—These are the 3 Surprising Habits of People Who Are Genuinely Happy in Retirement
It's no secret that some people thrive in retirement while others barely survive. And while your financial and socioeconomic circumstances do make a major impact on how you fare in your golden years, a 2026 report from Fidelity cites research that says how you spend your days is a key indicator of how happy you will be.
We spoke with an expert to see if there are common habits that retirees can take up that will help them feel good about their next chapter, and she shared some of the biggest takeaways from her work with retirees.
They Start Their Day the Same Way Every MorningIt can be easy to break with your routine in retirement now that you're no longer a slave to the alarm clock, but Jennifer Conlan, Regional Director of Resident Care at Waltonwood Senior Living, says that happy seniors stay on task. "When people think of happy retirees, they often think of big activities like traveling or socializing," she says. "But in my experience, the happiest retirees are anchored by specific, small daily habits that keep them grounded."
One of the biggest ones has to be starting their day off right. "Happier retirees don't lounge in sweatpants or skip breakfast," she says, noting that they get up each morning and get ready for the day ahead, getting dressed and making sure they eat a good meal first thing in the morning.
That's something she says is especially important for those seniors living in a community setting. "It creates an immediate boundary against isolation," she says.
They Stay OrganizedInstead of clinging to decades of clutter from a massive family home, Conlan says happy retirees build a habit of keeping a highly organized, simplified living space. "They intentionally surround themselves only with items that bring them joy or hold their most cherished memories, rather than fighting the stress of a disorganized environment."
If you're still living at home, that may mean using your free time to get rid of some of the stuff you've been holding onto that you no longer use, especially if those items are relics from your working days.
They Prioritize Their HealthHappy retirees have something else in common, according to Conlan: Their health. "They embrace a structured schedule for things like medication and nutrition," she says, noting that they rely on systems like pill sorters to make sure that they are taking everything on schedule, and they outsource other health management tasks whenever possible.
She says that those who live within a community will do this by "utilizing our community staff to automate it so they don't have to carry the mental burden."
The Secret Behind Why These Habits Actually WorkThese small habits act as a psychological shield against the biggest threats to a happy retirement, according to Conlan, which she says include:
- Grief
- Stress
- Loss of control
"When a senior transitions into retirement or a new community, they are often navigating a complex mix of emotions, like mourning the loss of a family home or a spouse," she says. "Micro-habits like getting dressed for breakfast or organizing a personal space provide a powerful sense of predictability and control."
As for those seniors who live alone at home, Conlan says their daily routines are often consumed by high-stress tasks like fixing a broken appliance, grocery shopping, or worrying about falling. "By replacing those exhausting burdens with simple, healthy daily habits, their mental bandwidth is instantly freed up."
From there, she says these routines build confidence and a renewed sense of purpose. "Instead of spending their energy merely trying to manage a household, their habits allow them to focus entirely on enjoying life."

Netflix Defies a Massive Ratings Drop to Renew One of Its Biggest Star-Driven Comedies
Netflix has been known to cancel shows for much less, and yet The Four Seasons has just landed a third season despite a 63% drop in the ratings.
It joins the likes of Man on the Inside and Running Point, which were also renewed despite seeing their ratings figures drop considerably between Seasons 1 and 2, bringing up the question of whether Netflix is changing its renewal strategy or not. In recent years, comedies have been able to skirt through despite ratings drops on the streaming platform, while the genre struggles on broadcast.
Four Seasons is based on Alan Alda’s 1981 movie of the same name. The first season boasted a strong cast, which included EP Tina Fey, Steven Carell, and Will Forte. Carell didn’t return for the second season, and it potentially led to the slide in the ratings.
However, viewers have noted that Netflix hasn’t done a great job in promoting the funny series, and that’s led to a decline in the ratings. Many hadn’t realized that the second season had dropped, and they only came across it on Netflix by chance. It’s a complaint by many about various shows on streaming networks.
The rest of the cast returned, and the format remained similar, with the destination of the vacation storyline changing every two episodes. The second season focused on Ginny learning to be happy following the death of her husband, while raising their child as a single mom. The remaining couples navigated their own ups and downs, with Anne meeting David Tennant’s Gianpiero. It’s not clear if Tennant will return for the third season.
The Four Seasons Season 3 is expected in May or June of 2027. This would follow the regular release of the first two seasons in May 2025 and 2026.
When explaining the renewal of Four Seasons, Netflix’s video president of U.S. comedy, Tracey Pakosta, explained that, “Audiences have fallen in love with these characters and this legendary cast’s electric chemistry. We’re thrilled to keep the vacation going for Season 3.”
Tyra Banks' Netflix Lawsuit Gets a Blunt Response From 'ANTM' Winner
Tyra Banks' lawsuit against Netflix is getting a pointed response from the first winner of America's Next Top Model.
Adrianne Curry, who won Cycle 1 of the reality competition series, reacted after Banks filed a lawsuit over Netflix's docuseries Reality Check: Inside America's Next Top Model. Banks alleges the series used selective editing to create a false and defamatory narrative about her and the show.
Curry seemed to find one part of the complaint especially ironic.
Adrianne Curry Reacted to Tyra Banks' Editing Claims View this post on InstagramIn a social media video shared Sunday, June 14, Curry reacted to Banks' lawsuit by bringing up the editing at the center of the dispute.
"I read that Tyra Banks is suing Netflix because she didn't like being edited," Curry said, using air quotes around "edited," according to TMZ.
She then laughed and added, "B----, for real girl?"
Curry also captioned the post, "Welcome to the party, pal," making it clear that she saw the lawsuit through the lens of former contestants who have spoken for years about how reality TV shaped their stories.

Banks filed a lawsuit against Netflix, EverWonder Studio and directors Daniel Sivan and Mor Loushy over Reality Check: Inside America's Next Top Model.
According to People, Banks claims she participated in the docuseries to have a candid conversation about the show's legacy, including aspects of ANTM she would approach differently today.
The lawsuit alleges that Banks sat for a more than three-hour interview, but only a small portion of it was used in the final series. Banks claims that editing left out important context and made her appear dismissive of serious issues raised in the documentary.
The lawsuit also accuses Netflix of false endorsement and alleges that the production company breached its agreement with Banks.
The Shandi Sullivan Story Is Part of the Lawsuit Shandi Sullivan on America's Next Top ModelUPN
One of the major points in the lawsuit involves former contestant Shandi Sullivan.
Sullivan, who appeared on Cycle 2 of America's Next Top Model, discussed an incident that happened during filming in the Netflix docuseries. In the lawsuit, Banks claims she did not know Sullivan had recharacterized the incident as sexual assault when Banks was interviewed for the documentary.
The lawsuit argues that the final edit made it appear as though Banks could not remember or did not care about Sullivan's experience. Banks denies that portrayal and says the series created a misleading impression.
Netflix has not publicly responded to the lawsuit.
Former 'ANTM' Contestants Are Weighing InCurry is not the only former America's Next Top Model figure reacting.
Entertainment Weekly reported that Angelea Preston, who competed on the show and later appeared on ANTM: All-Stars, also criticized Banks' lawsuit. Preston said the situation felt familiar to contestants who have long argued that editing affected how viewers saw them.
Curry Previously Defended Banks After the Docuseries Adrianne CurryPaul Archuleta/FilmMagic
Curry's new reaction is also notable because she had previously defended Banks after Reality Check stirred renewed backlash against America's Next Top Model.
Earlier this year, Curry said she respected Banks for not apologizing amid the criticism around the show. At the time, she suggested Banks did not owe viewers the type of apology many people were demanding.
The Lawsuit Reopens a Larger 'ANTM' DebateAmerica's Next Top Model has been debated for years, especially as old clips and contestant stories have resurfaced online.
The Netflix docuseries added to that conversation by revisiting the show's legacy, including its impact on contestants, the modeling industry and reality TV more broadly. Banks' lawsuit now opens a new chapter in that debate.
For Banks, the issue is whether the docuseries presented a misleading and defamatory version of her participation.
According to former ANTM contestants, now Banks may understand what it feels like to be edited into someone else's story.
Beloved Rock Band Makes 20th Anniversary Announcement
Underoath has a surprise for their OG fans.
Underoath, which was formed in 1997 in Tampa, took to social media on Monday to announce a surprise mural and art event taking place this Saturday evening at the Rialto Theatre in Tampa, Florida, to honor and celebrate 20 years of their fifth studio album, Define The Great Line.
"You're cordially invited to attend a mural and art event in recognition of the 20th anniversary of Define The Great Line," the official statement read. "The evening will include an exclusive, one-of-a-kind mural installation created by Underoath, a gallery of memorabilia pulled from the Define The Great Line era and first access to purchase new DTGL merch..."
Tickets are free, but space is limited, and a standby line is expected to accommodate overflow. Special merch like a limited event T-shirt will be available for purchase, and complimentary speciality bourbon cocktails will be served.
View this post on Instagram"What this album has meant to us, and so many others, over the past 20 years is hard to quantify," Underoath's keyboard player, Christopher Dudley, shared in a statement to HM Magazine. "It gave us permission to be ourselves. It sent us around the world. It gave people the freedom to say (and scream) the things out loud they had buried deep. It will outlive us."
In addition to the art show, Underoath will be celebrating Define The Great Line on the road this fall. Announced just last week, the special anniversary tour will kick off in St. Louis on Nov. 5, then wrap up at the band's hometown of Tampa on Dec. 18. Additional stops include Phoenix, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver, Denver, Chicago, Montreal, Boston, Philadelphia, Indianapolis, New York City, Houston and more. Tickets went on sale last week and are available on Underoath's official website.
"We still play these songs on stage 20 years later and get those chills. The opportunity to devote an entire tour to presenting this album in the best way it ever has been, alongside friends we’ve had since before it was released, is going to be bucket list material for us," Dudley continued.

Underoath was originally founded by Dallas Taylor, Luke Morton and Aaron Gillespie as a Christian group, but they have since distanced themselves from the religion and started branding themselves as a metalcore and hard rock band. The lineup has changed multiple times during its early years, but now still includes Gillespie, along with Dudley, Timothy McTague, Grant Brandell and Spencer Chamberlain. As a band for 30 years, Underoath has released 12 studio albums, with their most recent being This Place After This One in 2025.
Define the Great Line, released on June 20, 2006, was the album that shot Underoath into the mainstream. The record, which had 11 tracks and includes their hit song "Writing On The Walls," peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, which became the highest charting Christian release on that chart since 1997. In addition, it was certified gold in the United States by the RIAA, and "Writing on the Walls" was nominated for Best Short Form Music Video at the 2007 Grammy Awards.
Compared to They're Only Chasing Safety, their previous album before DTGL, Chamberlain told Chorus.fm that they didn't intentionally try to change styles between the two.
"We just wanted [to] play what we enjoyed playing, and that’s what came out this time. It was not really a conscious effort; the only effort was to not put a limitation on it by saying this or that doesn’t fit who we are. That shouldn’t be a part of anything creative. We just wanted to do anything we wanted to do and that’s what we did," Chamberlain said. "[There were] a lot of things that we did on the last record that we were unhappy with. Dave Ramsey Warns Retirees Mobile Homes Aren't the Money-Savers They Appear to Be
For retirees seeking a lower-cost place to live, mobile homes that offer reasonable prices, smaller spaces, and lower monthly expenses seem like a practical solution on paper. But personal finance expertDave Ramseyis warning that the math on mobile home investments may not work out the way many buyers expect.
@daveramseyMobile homes are a lot nicer than they used to be, but they still go down in value. They aren't like traditional homes that help people build wealth as a long-term investment.
♬ original sound - Dave Ramsey - Dave Ramsey Why Mobile Homes Don’t Build Wealth the Same WayWhile mobile homes today are often far more modern and well-built than in past decades, Ramsey argues they still behave very differently from traditional homes when it comes to long-term investments, mainly because they don't usually appreciate in value.
One key reason is land ownership. Many mobile homes are sold without the land beneath them, meaning owners miss out on one of the biggest drivers of real estate wealth: land appreciation. Mobile home loans also tend to come with higher interest rates and shorter terms than traditional mortgages, which can increase monthly costs and reduce the potential for building meaningful wealth over time.

A Growing Mobile Home DebateRamsey's warning about mobile home investments sparked debate in the TikTok comment section, with many viewers pushing back and sharing anecdotes from their own lives.
One commenter described buying a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom, 1,200-square-foot mobile home on five acres with a new well, septic system, and electrical setup for under $200,000 total, calling it cheaper than nearby condos and apartments. A North Carolina real estate agent offered a different perspective, noting that for many families, a mobile home isn't an investment decision but simply a place to live, and that owning something beats owning nothing in a market that has priced many people out.
How to Get the Most Value From a Mobile HomePhoto by Eileen Groome on Getty Images
- Own the land: Owning the land beneath your mobile home can significantly improve long-term value by allowing you to benefit from land appreciation and better financing options.
- Maintenance and upgrades: Regular maintenance and targeted upgrades—especially to roofing, insulation, and energy efficiency—can help preserve resale value and make the home more competitive in the market.
- Legal classification: Understanding whether your mobile home is classified as personal property or real estate is crucial, as it directly affects financing, taxes, and long-term equity potential.
- Plan an exit strategy: Planning your exit strategy early helps you account for resale demand, park rules, and potential relocation costs, which can significantly impact returns.
At the center of the debate is a simple tradeoff: Is the priority lower monthly costs today—or stronger long-term value over time?
For many retirees, mobile homes can offer an immediate affordability solution. But Ramsey warns that without careful planning, they may not provide the wealth-building characteristics people assume. And as housing affordability becomes more strained, that decision is becoming more common—and more consequential.

West Wilson Won't Return for 'Summer House' Season 11, Report Claims
West Wilson's time in the Hamptons may be coming to an end.
According to a new report from TMZ, the Summer House star will not return for season 11 of the Bravo reality series.
The reported exit follows a turbulent end to season 10 after Wilson and AmandaBatula revealed their romantic relationship in March, much to the dismay of Batula’s ex-husband, Kyle Cooke, and former friend Ciara Miller, who previously dated Wilson in 2023.
Cooke and Miller previously considered Batula and Wilson among their closest friends, respectively. The conclusion of season 10 has centered on the cast grappling with the couple's relationship, which many viewed as a betrayal, and the subsequent fallout as their relationship timeline was called into question.
Sources connected to the series told the outlet that West was not picked up for the next season of Summer House and will not be there when filming starts over the July 4th weekend.
However, the insiders note that the door isn't completely closed, and it's possible the sports journalist could come in for a cameo at some point.

Fans Are Split on What It Actually Tastes LikeAs with many limited-edition products, reactions have been mixed.
Some fans say Purple Cotton Candy tastes more like grape soda or a grape-flavored candy than traditional cotton candy. Comparisons to grape Fanta, Grape Jolly Ranchers and even Grape Pixie Sticks are common online. Many say they love the taste and are already planning to buy more.
Others are less convinced. Some fans expected a stronger cotton candy flavor and say the drink doesn't deliver enough of those classic carnival vibes. A few people have even compared the grape flavor to childhood medicines, though opinions vary widely.

Here’s Exactly What Happens to Your Brain Health When You Eat Bananas
If supporting your brain is one of your health goals, you likely already know that minimizing foods high in sugar is one of the best dietary habits you can have.
Sure, having a delicious scone or bowl of ice cream is completely fine every once in a while, but consistently eating sugary foods is linked with causing neuroinflammation, which can increase the risk of neurodegenerative conditions such as dementia and Parkinson’s.
The brain-healthy way to satisfy your sweet tooth? Fruit—also known as nature’s candy. While fruit does contain sugar, it doesn’t cause inflammation the way that foods with added sugar do because it’s paired with other nutrients, like fiber, that prevent it from spiking blood sugar. Fruit is also packed with antioxidants, which actively block inflammatory pathways.

In fact, fruit fits within the MIND diet (Mediterranean-DASH Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay), an eating plan that was created specifically to lower the risk of dementia. The MIND diet has been scientifically shown to slow cognitive decline and reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s.
While the MIND diet emphasizes eating fruits that are particularly high in antioxidants, like berries, there is less guidance around how one of the most popular fruits, bananas, fits in. You may already know that eating bananas regularly supports digestion, heart health and weight loss, but how does it specifically impact the brain? Keep reading to find out.
Related: Neurologists Warn This Morning Habit Could Be Secretly Shrinking Your Brain
Are Bananas Good for Your Brain?Even though bananas are not specifically called out as a MIND diet recommendation, both of the experts we talked to said that several nutrients in bananas make them a brain-healthy food.
One is fiber. “While most of us know that fiber helps with digestion and keeping our GI tract healthy, most don’t realize it also helps keep our brain healthy,” says Laura M. Ali, MS, RDN, a culinary nutritionist, registered dietitian and author of MIND Diet for Two. Ali explains that the gut and brain are connected through the gut-brain axis. “This communication system between our GI tract and brain helps regulate our mood, memory and focus,” she explains. With this in mind, rest assured that any food you eat that’s good for the gut (like bananas) is also good for your brain.
Maggie Moon, RD, a registered dietitian and best-selling author of The MIND Diet: 2nd Edition, says that bananas that are slightly underripe are especially good for brain health because they are high in prebiotics that reduce free radical formation in neurons, lower brain inflammation and enhance cognitive function.

But it’s not just the fiber in bananas that’s beneficial for the brain. Both experts say that the fruit is high in antioxidants, which help lower inflammation (including neuroinflammation) by protecting the brain and body from oxidative stress, which is a likely cause of cognitive decline and dementia.
“Bananas are rich in vitamin C and contain carotenoids, the compound that gives the banana its yellow hue, which reduces oxidation and inflammation in the brain. These antioxidants protect our brain cells from damage. Antioxidants are like putting a protective coating over our brain cells, similar to how a coat of paint protects an iron railing from rust,” Ali tells Parade.
Two other nutrients in bananas that support brain health are vitamin B and magnesium. Ali explains that B vitamins provide energy to the brain and help support neurotransmitters, which are the messengers that carry signals from our brain to other parts of our body.
Moon adds, “Bananas are high in vitamin B6, which we need to make neurotransmitters that regulate mood, memory and cognitive function. It also partners with folate and vitamin B12 to lower levels of the toxic amino acid homocysteine.”
As for magnesium, Ali says this nutrient works with potassium (which bananas are also a good source of) to reduce inflammation in the brain.

What Happens to Your Brain When You Eat BananasClearly, bananas are full of nutrients that support brain health. But what exactly happens to your brain when you eat them regularly?
Even though bananas support brain health, incorporating them into your diet won’t lead to a noticeable difference in your ability to concentrate, mood or cognition.
But even though you likely won’t feel any different, rest assured that the nutrients in bananas are working in the background to lower inflammation in your brain, which in turn will reduce your risk of dementia and other neurodegenerative disorders. Skeptical? A 2022 scientific review published in Food found that the bioactive compounds in bananas and plantains (a tropical fruit in the same family as bananas) have been shown to lower inflammation in the brain in several different animal studies. The researchers say that the compounds in bananas lower oxidative stress, prevent cell death and help regulate brain signaling pathways.
Another study, published in Alzheimer’s & Dementia, found that the prebiotics in bananas lowered brain inflammation in rats, another promising study. (This is why Moon recommends eating slightly underripe bananas; they are higher in prebiotics than ripe bananas.)
Both dietitians emphasize that more robust, human studies need to be done to show more explicitly how bananas impact the brain, but the studies that do exist are promising. “It’s not the first food I’d pick for brain health, but when it comes to fruits and vegetables, the more the merrier,” Moon says, adding that incorporating bananas into your diet for brain health is low-risk, so why not give it a try?
Bananas may not be as high in antioxidants as berries (the MIND diet’s hero fruit), but they still contain many nutrients that lower neuroinflammation. Having one as part of your breakfast sounds like a no-brainer!
