The ‘Buffy’ Moments Nicholas Brendon Loved Most

Fri, 03/20/2026 - 10:31pm

Actor Nicholas Brendon has died at the age of 57, per The Hollywood Reporter. Brendon famously played Buffy Summers' (Sarah Michelle Gellar) close friend, Xander, in the hit WB series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which had a seven-season run until 2003.

Brendon shared his favorite moments from the supernatural show during a 2003 fan panel. The actor explained he had a fondness for the first season, which premiered in 1997, because he and his castmates could enjoy filming the show without any outside pressure.

"That first season, we were all still kids. The celebrity thing wasn't blowing up in our faces yet. We were just having a great time you know and then you know the show got picked up and it's like, 'Whoa, you know, where's this going to go?'" said Brendon on the panel.

Brendon also revealed that his favorite Buffy the Vampire episodes included Season 1, Episode 6 ("The Pack"), Season 4, Episode 10 ("Hush"), Season 4, Episode 22 ("Restless"), and the show's infamous musical moment, Season 6, Episode 7 ("Once More With Feeling").

Nicholas Brendon Said He Felt 'Honored' That 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' Helped Fans at 'Their Lowest'

Brendon shared similar comments about Buffy the Vampire Slayer in a 2015 interview for KLZ Events. He said the show's first season "was really magical," especially "stepping on the set for the first time" and "shooting the pilot."

"The first season was just like 'Wow, what's going on?' It was really, really lovely," said Brendon.

In addition, Brendon shared that he appreciates Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans who have found comfort in the show during difficult times.

"It helps people when they're in their lowest and it's nice because we've all been there. And I feel honored that I was a part of helping pick them up. And giving them hope. Because life can be tough sometimes," said Brendon in the 2015 interview.

Iconic '80s Rocker Reveals Harsh Details on Health Amid 2026 Tour

Fri, 03/20/2026 - 10:28pm

Legendary thrash metal icon Dave Mustaine is opening up about one of the darkest chapters of his life, sharing painful details about his cancer battle as he prepares for a major farewell era with Megadeth in 2026.

In a recent Instagram post teasing his upcoming memoir “In My Darkest Hour,” Mustaine revealed that his fight with cancer was not just a medical journey, but a deeply personal struggle to survive and continue making music.

“My new book… releases on September 8th. One of most harrowing experiences of my adult life has been my seven-year journey through cancer treatment and onward into remission,” Mustaine shared. “This was a journey of me saving myself, staying alive, keeping my family together, and continuing to make music through it all.”

The upcoming autobiography will give fans an unfiltered look into Mustaine’s battle with squamous cell carcinoma, which was diagnosed in 2019 at the back of his tongue. The condition forced the singer into intense rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, treatments that nearly cost him his voice and career.

In a newly released video teaser, Mustaine admitted he had long kept the most difficult parts of his treatment private.

View this post on Instagram

“This is the one area that I’ve been just completely walled off from any of the procedure or details being shared with our fan base,” he said. “Not that anybody wants to know what it was like to have my head fried like an egg getting all the radiation… but some people do.”

Despite the pain, the rocker explained why he is now ready to share his story publicly.

“They get strength from the accomplishments of others,” Mustaine added. “I love being able to use the things that I’ve done and that I’ve overcome… to show them you could do this too.”

Mustaine’s health revelations come at a time when Megadeth is entering its final chapter. The band recently released what is expected to be its last album and has begun a global farewell tour that could last several years.

Behind the scenes, however, the physical toll has been mounting. Mustaine has dealt not only with cancer recovery but also long-term issues like arthritis, nerve damage and lingering effects from past injuries. These challenges have made performing increasingly difficult.

Still, during his cancer treatment, Mustaine pushed through extreme conditions, sometimes going straight from radiation sessions to the studio. He recalled moments when he would play, step outside to vomit, then return to continue recording.

That relentless drive led to the creation of “The Sick, the Dying… and the Dead!” in 2022.

Now in remission for several years, Mustaine says the experience has permanently changed his outlook. His memoir will explore not just the treatments, but also the emotional weight of confronting mortality and the strength he found in family, faith and music.

As Megadeth continues its farewell run, Mustaine appears focused on finishing strong while finally telling the story he once kept hidden.

Lush Is Taking on Dry, Sensitive and Mature Skin With New Balm Cleansers

Fri, 03/20/2026 - 10:25pm

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

I've been on a mission to find a cleanser that actually feels good to use at the end of the day—something that melts everything off without leaving my skin tight or irritated. Because let's be honest, not all cleansers are created equal. Some feel like they strip your face completely, while others just don't quite get the job done. But there's one type of cleanser that does both, and Lush just launched new versions.

If you've never tried a balm cleanser before, think of it as the ultimate "take the day off" moment. These formulas are thicker and more waxy than your typical gel or foam cleanser, almost like a soft balm that melts into the skin. Instead of lathering, they dissolve makeup, sunscreen and daily buildup while helping maintain your skin barrier. That makes them especially appealing for dry, sensitive or mature skin—but even oily or breakout-prone types can benefit from the right formula.

Lush recently launched four new balm cleansers designed for different skin needs. The new lineup focuses on gentle, effective cleansing without stripping or overstimulating the skin.

Four New Cleansers

There's an ultra-gentle oat-based balm designed to calm redness and soothe sensitive skin.

For those dealing with dryness or a compromised skin barrier, a richer blend of honey, beeswax and almond oil helps lock in moisture while melting away makeup.

If your skin leans more breakout-prone or hormonal, there's a lighter oil-based option featuring acai and sacha inchi oils. It's designed to clarify without clogging pores or leaving behind a heavy residue—a common concern with richer cleansers. In fact, some early users say it's surprisingly effective for acne-prone skin, with one reviewer noting their breakouts visibly improved overnight while still leaving skin looking dewy and balanced.

And for mature skin, or anyone looking for a glow boost, a turmeric and argan oil formula delivers hydration while helping improve the look of radiance and texture.

Balm Cleansers Are Great for Sensitive Skin

What makes these stand out is their focus on balance. Over-cleansing can damage the skin barrier, leading to irritation, dryness and even more breakouts over time. Balm cleansers work differently by lifting away impurities while leaving behind a soft, conditioned feel. It's a slower, more intentional approach to skincare.

At $23 each, these new additions make it easier to find a balm cleanser that actually matches your skin type, rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

New Data Reveals the Most Popular Easter Candy in Every State

Fri, 03/20/2026 - 9:25pm

Easter baskets can be surprisingly personal. Some people go all in on chocolate, others swear by fruity treats and a few stick to nostalgic favorites they've loved since childhood. New shopping data is giving us a peek into what people across the country are actually buying—and the results might surprise you.

According to Instacart, one candy clearly stands above the rest nationwide, but not every state is on board. While many shoppers agree on a go-to favorite, a handful of states are doing their own thing, choosing classic chocolate bars or iconic bunny-shaped treats instead.

The Most Popular Easter Candy by State

Instacart

According to new data, Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs are the top Easter candy in a huge majority of the country, taking the number one spot in 38 states. That's four years in a row at the top, making it the clear MVP of Easter baskets. Fans love the soft texture and extra peanut butter filling, which many say tastes even better than the classic cup.

Still, not every state follows the crowd. Here's how preferences break down across the U.S.:

  • 38 states: Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs dominate as the top Easter candy.
  • California, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Nevada, New Jersey, North Carolina, North Dakota, South Dakota: Hershey's Milk Chocolate is the favorite.
  • Hawaii and Maine: Lindt Gold Bunny Milk Chocolate hops to the top.
  • Washington, D.C. and South Carolina: Reese's Peanut Butter Cups beat out the seasonal egg version.

Even when Reese's doesn't win, it still shows up in a big way, proving just how strong its fan base is.

The Other Easter Candy Trends Shoppers Love

Instacart

The data also highlights some fun regional trends. Jelly beans, for example, are still a classic—but they're especially popular in the Midwest and Upper Plains. States like Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin go big on jelly beans.

Chocolate bunnies also have their own fan clubs. Hawaii, Vermont, Rhode Island, Maine and New Hampshire are among the biggest buyers of these iconic treats. Interestingly, Hawaii stands out as a top chocolate bunny state while skipping jelly beans more often than most.

And while chocolate clearly dominates Easter shopping, fruity and sour candies are still part of the mix. Items like Sour Patch Kids, Starburst Jelly Beans and Nerds continue to show up in carts, proving there’s room for more than just chocolate in a well-rounded basket.

1973 Ultra Classic Was a No. 1 Hit 53 Years Ago Today

Fri, 03/20/2026 - 9:16pm

In 1973, The O'Jays released a song that would become one of the most recognizable— and uplifting— anthems of the decade.

Their single, "Love Train" climbed to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking a major milestone for the group and solidifying their place in soul music history.

Written by legendary songwriting duo Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff, "Love Train" was released on the album Back Stabbers. The track is a signature example of the Philadelphia soul sound, blending smooth vocals with polished instrumentation and socially conscious lyrics.

"Kenny Gamble was a prolific songwriter, and Leon Huff could make a piano sound like a whole band," said Levert in an interview with The Guardian. "We just clicked. They had dozens of songs and we were able to pick the ones we liked. When we started recording, Love Train didn't even have lyrics, so Kenny came up with them in five minutes, on the spot."

With its message of unity and global harmony, the song invited listeners around the world to "join hands" and come together, name-checking countries and regions in a hopeful call for peace. At a time marked by political tension and social change, its optimistic tone struck a chord with audiences.

"Love Train" became the O'Jays' first and only No. 1 pop hit, though the group enjoyed continued success on the R&B charts with songs like "Back Stabbers" and "For the Love of Money."

Formed in Canton, Ohio, in the late 1950s, The O'Jays began as a doo-wop group before evolving into one of the defining acts of the Philadelphia soul era. The classic lineup, which featured Eddie Levert, Walter Williams and William Powell, found major success in the early 1970s after teaming with producers Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff. Over the decades, the group remained a staple of R&B and soul music, earning induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2005. While the lineup has changed over the years, the O'Jays have continued performing, with Levert and Williams carrying on the group's legacy into the present day.

More than five decades later, "Love Train" remains a staple of classic soul playlists and a powerful reminder of music’s ability to bring people together.

"To this day, people hear it and want to start a train," said Levert. "At one gig, we played it for 30 minutes, while the audience formed a dancing train that went all the way outside the building."

As timeless as ever, the song continues to carry its message forward, one generation at a time.

Despite the tense situation, Timberlake remains polite throughout the interaction, even as officers shine a flashlight in his eyes and eventually place him under arrest.

A friend, who had reportedly been out with Timberlake and her husband that evening, arrives at the scene. Shocked by the arrest, she asks officers, “You're arresting Justin Timberlake right now?” before attempting to intervene. At one point, she pleads, “Can you guys please just do me a favor 'cause you loved 'Bye Bye Bye' or 'Sexyback?' Do me one favor!”

The request seemingly worked as officers allowed her a brief moment to speak with Timberlake while he sat in the back of the patrol car.

The footage release comes after Timberlake initially attempted to block it, calling it “an unwarranted invasion of personal privacy,” before ultimately reaching a deal with authorities to share a partially redacted version.

Timberlake was originally arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, sparking widespread headlines and viral moments online as it came ahead of his world tour. However, he later reached a plea deal, admitting to a lesser traffic violation that did not involve drunk driving or result in a criminal conviction.

'90s Heavy Metal Band Announces Exciting News

Fri, 03/20/2026 - 8:45pm

Legendary heavy metal band Metallica has shared exciting news with fans worldwide, announcing the massive success of their recent charity effort that turned music passion into lifesaving action.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, the band revealed that their partnership with the American Red Cross has led to nearly 40,000 blood donations globally.

The campaign, launched in April 2025 through their All Within My Hands foundation, quickly grew into a powerful movement fueled by fans.

“We are blown away by the Metallica Family’s generous participation,” the band wrote, thanking supporters who took part in blood drives across the United States and beyond.

The announcement comes as the band continues to stay active not just in music, but also in meaningful community work.

The collaboration first started during select stops of the band’s M72 World Tour in the U.S., where fans were encouraged to donate blood. What began as a tour-based effort soon expanded nationwide, giving more people a chance to join.

According to reports, over 25,000 donations were collected in the United States alone. When the campaign extended internationally, especially during the band’s Australian tour leg with Lifeblood, the total climbed to nearly 40,000.

The campaign also offered incentives. Fans who donated between July 2025 and February 2026 received limited-edition shirts and a chance to win a special ESP Snakebyte guitar signed by the band.

More importantly, the initiative brought in new donors. Around 16% of participants gave blood for the first time, with nearly half of those new donors aged 16 to 24. This reflects a growing trend of younger people stepping up to help in simple but impactful ways.

According to Variety, a Red Cross official described the achievement as “truly monumental,” noting how the campaign energized a new generation to take part in donation efforts.

‘No Repeat Weekend’ Returns for Las Vegas Residency

Alongside their charity success, Metallica is also making noise in the music world again. The band is preparing for its upcoming Life Burns Faster residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas, set to begin in October 2026 and run into 2027.

One of the biggest highlights is the return of the “No Repeat Weekend” format. This means fans attending two-night shows will hear completely different setlists each night, no repeated songs.

The concept, first introduced during the M72 World Tour, quickly became a fan favorite. It allows concertgoers to enjoy a wider range of the band’s music across back-to-back performances.

Multiple show dates have already been scheduled, with both two-day passes and single-night tickets available. The residency is expected to draw strong demand, especially after the band’s recent global attention from both their tour and charity work.

For fans, it’s a rare chance to experience Metallica in a unique live setting while celebrating a band that continues to evolve after decades in the industry.

New Details Emerge on What Led to Joseph Duggar’s Arrest in Child Molestation Case

Fri, 03/20/2026 - 8:37pm

New details have emerged on what led to 19 Kids and Counting star Joseph Duggar's arrest.

On Wednesday, Mar. 18, Joseph, 31, was arrested and charged for Lewd and Lascivious Behavior, involving unlawful sexual activity with a minor.

Joseph made his first court appearance on Friday, Mar. 20. He did not enter a plea and waived his right to an extradition hearing, meaning he agreed to be transferred to Florida to face charges.

More details on what led to Joseph's arrest were revealed in an affidavit filed by the Bay County Sheriff's Office and obtained by People.

According to the affidavit, Joseph confessed to molesting a 9-year-old girl in a phone call with the child's father and a detective with the local police department.

BCSO Criminal Investigator Chase Norris writes in the document that he was told Joseph first confessed to molesting the minor while speaking with her father on Tuesday, Mar. 17.

Norris was told this information by a detective from the Tontitown Police Department in Arkansas, and, according to the affidavit, Norris then "requested the detective and victim’s father call the defendant."

The affidavit states that Joseph "admitted his actions" on the phone, saying "he touched the victim over her clothing."

Joseph also "admitted his intentions were not pure."

People reports that most of the details included in the affidavit are taken from a forensic interview with the alleged victim, who is now 14.

From the interview, Norris writes that he learned the "the victim’s family traveled to Panama City Beach" in 2020 for a vacation, where she reportedly encountered Joseph.

At the vacation home, Joseph allegedly "asked the victim to sit on his lap, numerous times" and "would cradle the victim with his arms."

Joseph then began to "ask the victim to sit on the couch" beside him, according to the affidavit.

Once the two were sat next to each other, the affidavit says Joseph "covered the parties with a blanket" before proceeding to "pull the victim’s dress up" and inappropriately touch her.

The victim claims these incidents occurred on several occasions and "made her feel uncomfortable and confused," according to the affidavit.

Joseph is said to have "eventually approached the victim and apologized for his actions," and the incidents reportedly stopped occurring after the apology.

1976 No. 1 Classic Rock Hit Became a Timeless Classic

Fri, 03/20/2026 - 8:33pm

When the Ohio-based rock band Wild Cherry released their very first song, they had no idea it would still have a huge cultural impact 50 years later.

"Play That Funky Music" was released in April 1976 through the Cleveland-based Sweet City record label as the band's debut and lead single. Sung and written by Rob Parissi and instruments played by band members Bryan Bassett, Allen Wentz and Ron Beitle, along with Chuck Berginc and Jack Brndiar on trumpet, and Rick Singer and Joe Eckert on saxophone, the hit was crowned the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot Soul Singles Chart for three weeks. It also hit certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America for selling 2.5 million units in the United States alone and was ranked at 93rd place on Billboard's "Greatest of All Time Hot 100 songs" in 2018.

Originally forming in 1970 as a cover rock band, Wild Cherry was having difficulty booking shows due to the rise of the decade's disco era. While playing a show in Pittsburgh to a predominantly black audience, an audience member asked the band, "Are you going to play some funky music, white boy?" which inspired "Play That Funky Music" and is an actual lyric in the chorus. The song immediately starts with an iconic guitar riff, then continues with drums, horns and a cowbell. The scat-talking vocals and catchy chorus instantly made this song memorable, and a great mix of the dance, disco and rock genres. Despite its success now, it took years for a record label to pick up the band and the song due to the "white boy" lyric, but Sweet City Records in Cleveland "took that song to New York and they signed us," said Bassett.

"Play That Funky Music" also led the band to win an American Music Award and garner two Grammy nominations. It was the opening track to their debut album, Wild Cherry, which consists of nine tracks that were mostly written by Parissi. Their self-titled debut peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200.

Wild Cherry eventually disbanded in 1979 after releasing four studio albums. All of the other members went on to pursue their own careers and form their own groups. Despite having huge success with "Play That Funky Music," they are often deemed a one-hit wonder and ended up splitting up due to the intense pressure they received to transition from a hard rock band to a funk/disco group. In a Q&A Parissi did with music writer Michael Limnios in November 2023, the 75-year-old musician revealed that the hit "wrote itself" and "it was exactly what I was living through at the time."

"All the songs I wrote for Wild Cherry were stories of love, life on the road, in the band, about real life and they're still stories being played out through all generations today," Parissi said. "I only wrote about what I lived, the good, bad and ugly. I never take our longevity for granted, and I'm humbly grateful for its 'legs.'"

"Play That Funky Music" and the rest of Wild Cherry's discography are available to listen to on all streaming platforms.

Influential ‘90s Singer and Actress to be Honored With Hollywood Walk of Fame Star

Fri, 03/20/2026 - 8:20pm

Millennials grew up with a number of beloved singers who also shined as actors — and some are still owning the spotlight to this day.

That includes the one and only Brandy Norwood, who is set to receive a star on the coveted Hollywood Walk of Fame Monday, March 30.

The Grammy winner, 47, will receive her honor in the category of Recording, according to the Walk of Fame's website — which will stream the ceremony live. The 11:30 a.m. PT event will be held at 6201 Hollywood Boulevard in front of Arrive Hollywood.

Fans have flooded the comments section of Brandy's joint Instagram post on Friday, March 20 with their support for the influential R&B singer's latest accolade. "It’s. Her. TIME! Always has been. Glad people are finally giving rightful flowers," wrote one user, while another person commented, "It’s Brandy season 😍 well deserved! The icon ❤️❤️."

Regarding the latter comment — the Cinderella actress has certainly been making the rounds of late, having performed the national anthem at the 75th NBA All-Star Game last month in Intuit Dome (also in LA County).

Actress and writer Issa Rae and singer/producer Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds will speak at the ceremony, which will be emceed by host and sports/entertainment presenter Sibley Scoles, Billboard reports.

“Brandy has captivated audiences for decades with a voice and artistry that helped shape modern R&B and inspire generations of performers,” Ana Martinez, Walk of Fame producer, said in a statement, per Billboard. “Honoring her with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is a celebration of not only her extraordinary music career, but also her lasting impact on television, film, and popular culture.”

Brandy — born Brandy Rayana Norwood on Feb. 11, 1979, in McComb, Mississippi — is widely recognized as “The Vocal Bible” for her groundbreaking approach to R&B vocals, including intricate runs, layered harmonies and unmatched technical precision. She first rose to fame in the 1990s with her self-titled debut album, which went six times platinum and featured hits like “I Wanna Be Down” and “Brokenhearted.”

Beloved '60s Rock Classic Is Suddenly Climbing the Charts 57 Years Later

Fri, 03/20/2026 - 8:20pm

If you've had the Beatles' "Golden Slumbers" running through your head lately, you're definitely not alone. From the incomparable 1969 album Abbey Road, the song is having a major resurgence: Around the same time it was featured in an Airbnb commercial that aired during the Olympics last month, it made a triumphant return to the Billboard charts...and people are clearly still listening.

As Forbes reported, "Golden Slumbers" (which was never pushed as a single) returned to two U.K. charts last month, hitting new peaks of #37 on the Official Singles Downloads chart and #41 on the Official Singles Sales list. After sticking around for two periods, the song slipped back off the charts — but returned just a few weeks later, hitting #72 on the Official Singles Downloads and #77 on the Official Singles Sales chart.

The first time "Golden Slumbers" appeared on either of those lists was in November 2017, when it debuted on both at #46. It left the charts quickly at that point, however, and stayed out of sight for nearly a decade.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, this spike in sales for "Golden Slumbers" has led to a surge in Abbey Road's popularity, with the full-length album returning to the Official Albums Sales chart at #86 and the Official Physical Albums list at #90. Abbey Road is now close to hitting 200 weeks as one of the bestselling albums.

'Golden Slumbers' was inspired by a song in Paul McCartney's sister's piano book

As McCartney recalled in The Beatles Anthology, "Golden Slumbers" grew out of an idea he got during a jam session at his father's house.

"I was playing the piano in Liverpool in my dad’s house, and my stepsister Ruth’s piano book was up on the stand," he recalled. "I was flicking through it and I came to ‘Golden Slumbers.' I can’t read music and I couldn’t remember the old tune, so I just started playing my own tune to it. I liked the words so I kept them, and it fitted with another bit of song I had."

In a 2024 episode of the iHeartPodcast McCartney: A Life in Lyrics, the former Beatle reflected on the song's legacy.

“It’s turned out to be quite soulful. I think that’s what attracted me those lyrics in the first place. It’s like consoling a baby or reading kids a bedtime story. I find there’s something very deep in that. Very human and international — it strikes a chord with me,” McCartney said.
