Missing ‘Virgin River’ Actor Found Dead as Homicide Investigation Continues
Canadian authorities say the remains of missing actor Stewart McLean have been located as investigators continue treating the case as a homicide investigation.
In an update issued to Parade on Friday, May 22, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) confirmed that McLean’s remains were found in the Lions Bay area of British Columbia during ongoing search efforts.
“As the investigation continues to unfold, homicide investigators are working to collect and analyze evidence, review CCTV footage and conduct interviews to build a timeline of Mr. McLean’s activities prior to May 15, 2026,” IHIT spokesperson Cpl. Esther Tupper said in a statement.
Police said McLean, 45, was originally reported missing on May 18 after he had not been seen since May 15. Authorities previously said he was last seen at his residence in Lions Bay.
Investigators announced Thursday that evidence uncovered during the missing persons investigation led them to believe McLean had been the victim of a homicide, prompting IHIT to officially take over the case.
IHIT said Friday that investigators are continuing to work with the BC Coroners Service and the Integrated Forensic Identification Service to determine the circumstances surrounding McLean’s death.
“At this stage, IHIT believes this to be an isolated incident,” police said in the update.
McLean, who was sometimes credited professionally as Stew McLean, recently appeared in an episode of Netflix’s Virgin River and also had credits in shows including Arrow, Travelers, The 100, Supernatural, Beyond and Murder in a Small Town.
His recent work also included appearances in the Paramount+ series Happy Face and the Lifetime movie The Killer Inside: The Ruth Finley Story.
Born in Edmonton, Alberta, McLean worked steadily in film and television productions throughout the Vancouver area for more than a decade, including projects filmed in Squamish and Bowen Island.
Police are asking anyone with information related to the investigation to contact the IHIT information line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca as investigators continue pursuing leads.

Beloved Pop-Rock Duo Causes A Stir After Disbanding
Dirty Blonde had some unfortunate news for their fans.
The English pop-rock duo, made up of Ailis Mackay and Hayley Tait, announced and officially confirmed on Wednesdayvia an Instagram post that they "have parted ways as a band." Originally formed in Manchester in early 2023, Dirty Blonde was known for its unique indie sound.
"As some of you may already know, we have parted ways as a band," the statement read. "We’re incredibly proud of everything we’ve achieved, but most importantly, we’ve met so many people along the way who have made it unforgettable, and we’ve made some friends for life. To every single one of you who came to our shows, streamed our music, shared our posts, or simply cheered us on from afar, thank you. It truly meant the world to us."
The duo did not provide a reason for their split.
View this post on InstagramDirty Blonde released their debut EP Favourite Record in 2023, which included their top hit "Come Over." Then two years later, they released a second EP titled Looking for Trouble, as well as a string of singles to promote the record. "Indie Sleaze" is the band's latest release, which they were heavily promoting on social media before their split.
The new single was released on March 4, and the last time the group posted on their joint Instagram account was on March 12. For more than two months, Dirty Blonde was silent on socials, which caused some speculation. The Wednesday announcement confirmed fans' suspicions. Despite the terrible news, fans still showed their support for the two, wishing them success in their next endeavors.
"I AM SO SAD😭," a fan commented. "grateful to have met you queens, I hope whatever’s next for you both is exactly what you need. Thanks for everything!"
One user replied, "it's legit 1d 2.0," referring to One Direction's breakup that shook the world a decade ago.
"Really sad to hear this! 🙁," another user shared. "wishing you all the best for whatever you do in the future 🎶🙏🏻."
Another fan commented, "Gutted but thank you for the music and incredible live shows."
"Sorry to hear this gals," another said. "Good luck with whatever you do next 🫶🏻x."
"Really sorry to hear this. Hope your futures are bright," another fan wrote. "You have so much talent Im sure you’ll knock it out the park whatever you do. All the best x."
"Good luck for whatever you do in the future, gutted reading this but guessed it was coming," a fan replied. "Glad to get to the Manchester gig after numerous others. Your music lives on but sad news😢."

The duo first met in 2022 through Instagram and decided to become a band while on a deep-sea fishing trip in Greece. Throughout their three years as a group, Dirty Blonde has released multiple songs, gone on tour throughout the UK and opened for many artists, including The Lottery Winners, The Subways, Frank Carter and the Sex Pistols, Louis Tomlinson and The K's.
"Individually, we had different routes that led us to being in Dirty Blonde. Hayley wanted to be Mark Ronson and Ailis wanted to be Dave Grohl. The band came together when we met on Instagram and realised we were as delusional as each other," they told Broken 8 Music in 2023, when asked how they started making music. "We’d gotten used to working remotely throughout COVID, so we worked on some demos together initially before turning it into Dirty Blonde."
As for what's next, neither of them has officially announced anything yet, but MacKay, who served as the duo's vocalist, guitarist and drummer, has been teasing new music on her personal Instagram account since two days ago.
"I don't know who needs to hear this but...it's ok to let go, start over and try something new," MacKay shared in a photo. "New beginnings can be exactly what your life needs."

After decades on the digital highway, Kansas’ “Dust in the Wind” just crossed the billion-stream frontier. And we couldn’t feel prouder. Because no doubt, we helped get them across the finish line by blaring their acoustic hit on repeat all these years later.
Written by Kerry Livgren, founding member, lead guitarist, keyboardist, and primary songwriter for the rock band, “Dust in the Wind” was inspired by a line in Native American poetry that read, “All we are is dust in the wind.” The concept got Livgren thinking about the value of material things versus the meaning of success, with the lyrics he formed both a stark philosophical reminder of mortality and incredibly liberating.
Under pressure to write another megahit akin to “Carry On Wayward Son,” Livgren came up with “Dust in the Wind” — the only problem was that he didn't like it very much and thought it was nothing like the band’s previous sound. In fact, Songfacts reported that Livgren was timid about sharing the song with the band for the first time, thinking they’d hate it, too. But they didn’t. They loved it and recorded it for their Point of Know Return album.

“Dust in the Wind” peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became the band’s signature hit. It also marked one of the most successful crossovers of all time, with heavy rotation on rock, country, adult cotemporary radio stations. Its legacy has grown even more over time in pop culture, with references in Old School, Freaks and Geeks, Highlander, and so many more.
“Kansas’s ‘Dust in the Wind’ has reached 1 billion streams on Spotify,” Canadian music journalist, blogger, and radio host Eric Alper wrote on Facebook. “The song peaked at #6 on the Billboard Hot 100. It began as a simple fingerpicking exercise before becoming the band’s biggest hit.”
View this post on InstagramCongrats on a massive feat for an accidentally awesome gem from the 1970s. Enjoy this moment, because like the song implies, nothing lasts forever … well, except for a membership to the Spotify Billions Club, of course.

26 Years Ago, Simon Cowell Passed on This Boy Band's Biggest Hit
If you spent the early aughts rushing home from school to see where your favorite pop song landed on MTV’sTotal Request Live, odds are O-Town’s iconic 2001 power ballad, “All or Nothing,” is still in heavy rotation on your playlist!
O-Town, who famously formed on television via the 2000 reality competition series Making the Band, scored their absolute biggest career hit with the track. Peaking at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and hitting No. 1 on the Mainstream Top 40 chart, "All or Nothing" helped define an entire generation of frosted tips and pure pop euphoria.
But according to former O-Town heartthrob Ashley Parker Angel, the anthem that changed their lives forever almost belonged to an entirely different group of global icons.
As it turns out, “All or Nothing” was originally intended for the massively successful UK boy band Westlife—a group created by none other than Simon Cowell. While Westlife only secured one major crossover hit in the United States (1999’s “Swear It Again”), they were certified international superstars, boasting 11 No. 1 albums and 16 No. 1 singles overseas.
“I recently did a podcast with one of the members of Westlife and we were celebrating the fact that O-Town got ‘All or Nothing.' Simon passed on it, Clive Davis grabbed it for us, and the rest is history,” Angel explains in an exclusive interview to Parade. “It’s wild to think about the reach of a song that almost wasn't ours.”
Related: O-Town’s Ashley Parker Angel Is Having His Biggest ‘Full Circle’ Moment Yet (Exclusive)
Angel shares that the legacy of “All or Nothing” has quite literally followed him across the globe. “I was in a grocery store in Tokyo and it came on over the speakers as I was shopping. I took a moment to think about the reach of the song, which almost wasn't our song!” he says. “People still come up and say, ‘I slow danced to ‘All or Nothing’ at my prom,’ or that their kids are singing it with them ‘carpool karaoke style.’ It lived on and became a timeless classic in the world of boy band power ballads. That's an incredible thing to be a part of.”
Would Ashley Parker Angel return to O-Town?So, with "All or Nothing" still tugging at those nostalgic heartstrings, the burning question remains: Is there a world where Angel would finally rejoin O-Town? The original group disbanded in 2003, but later reunited as a four-piece without Angel in 2013. While he is currently fully focused on his role as a businessman and co-founder of his wellness company, High Level Science, he refuses to close the door on his musical past completely.
“I never say never because life is long,” Angel notes. “There are no active plans right now, but to think about a moment in time where we would all step on stage and sing ‘All or Nothing’ again as the five of us? You never know where you’re going to be in different chapters of life.”
To read the full interview with Ashley Parker Angel—where he reveals the truth about leaving the pop world behind, what his 20-year-old son really thinks of his pop-star past, and what he wishes was handled differently in his O-Town days—head over to my Substack, The Teen Mag Time Machine.
'A Court of Thorns and Roses’ Adaptation May Not Be Dead in the Water After All
When Sarah J. Maas told Alex Cooper on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast that she now had the rights to the A Court of Thorns and Roses series back, we were initially disappointed.
That meant that the Hulu adaptation was officially dead in the water, and it had us concerned about whether there would be an adaptation of this epic romantasy series. However, Maas getting the rights back was a great thing, because it meant that when the time was right, she could be the one to shop it around and remain heavily involved in the process.
With news that Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros was officially greenlit by Amazon, it looks like Maas has realized now is the time to shop the idea of her adaptation around. Screen Rant cites Puck News’ report that Maas is now reportedly looking for another studio to work on a TV series.
The ACOTAR books were originally optioned by Hulu with Outlander’s Ron D. Moore involved. However, a mixture of the writer’s strike in 2023 and budget constraints from Hulu led to the project falling at the first hurdle. It’s possible that Hulu wasn’t ready to spend the money on the project, which was going to need a heavy amount of CGI to bring the fantasy world to life.
It’s something that many readers questioned when Hulu was first attached — and this was when Disney didn’t have full control over the company. A project like this would likely be better with a company that was prepared with the budget, such as HBO or Prime Video. All three had proven to spend money on expansive worlds with the development of Game of Thrones and Rings of Power.
Amazon has proven that it is willing to look at romantasy as the next step into book adaptations. Fourth Wing has been picked up to series, and there is a new season of The Rings of Power arriving at the end of 2026. There is also a need for more romance adaptations, with the Miles High Club and Rose Hill series currently in the pipeline.
HBO and Netflix are good places to look, as they both delve into the world of romance and fantasy. They continue to work on the worlds of House of the Dragon and Bridgerton. We also can’t overlook Apple TV with the push for science fiction and dystopian, requiring heavy CGI use, such as with Silo and For All Mankind.
Maas hasn’t said anything official about shopping her books around, but it has been a recent conversation. Right now, she’s likely focused on the sixth and seventh books, which are coming out in October 2026 and January 2027 respectively, and are already highly anticipated.

Popular Beach Destination Cracks Down on This Annoying Trend With $500 Fines
If you’ve ever struggled to find a spot on the beach due to everyone’s massive all-day setups, this may be news to your ears. Starting May 26, a popular Southern California beach will ban tents, pop-up canopies, easy-ups, and pretty much any shade structure bigger than a single umbrella. In Laguna Beach, visitors and locals who break the new rules could face a $500 fine.
It's the kind of move that makes sense when you understand just how packed this beach town gets in summer. Traffic crawls, shops overflow, and the sand looks like a packed concert. It was clear to local officials that some action had to be taken.
Why Now?During city council meetings about the ordinance earlier this year, Mayor Mark Orgill laid out the real problem. "When people put up these rows of these tent structures, the lifeguards cannot see down to the waterline, and it creates a safety issue," he said.
The problem is worse in Laguna Beach's shallow coves, where lifeguard towers are positioned far back against the hillside. When rows of large canopies block the view, lifeguards can't see swimmers or surfers who need help. That's not a minor inconvenience—it's a genuine safety risk.
That’s not to mention the overcrowding and trash during peak beach season. Bigger setups mean more people, more stuff, and more garbage left behind for the city to deal with.
View this post on Instagram What You Can Actually Bring to Laguna BeachSingle-pole umbrellas are still good to go. Larger shade structures can now only be used in designated canopy zones at Main Beach and Aliso Beach, and even then, there are limits.
The shade structure can't exceed 8 by 8 by 6 feet and must be at least 20 feet from emergency access paths and at least 5 feet from other canopies. And if a lifeguard or cop asks you to move it, you move it. That's it.
According to the city’s Instagram, “All shade coverings must be relocated if requested by Marine Safety, Police, or authorized City personnel. Violations may include fines of up to $500.”
View this post on InstagramRelated: 3 Underrated Stops Along the Oregon Coast Between Portland and San Francisco
What People Are SayingSome locals love it. "Good! People pack half their house with them for a day at the beach," one Reddit user wrote. “I’ve seen lifeguards having limited visibility on busy summer days. Umbrellas are great, and lighter to carry around! You can put two up, a little beach oasis,” praised an Instagram commenter.
Not everyone is thrilled about the new rule, though. Some residents think the rules are too strict for a public beach. "It's a public beach, not a private resort," another person complained.
Signs are going up throughout town starting now, so people will know what's allowed before May 26 rolls around.
1992 Power Ballad, Featuring One of Rock's Most Iconic Guitar Solos, Never Hit No. 1
It features one of rock music's most epic guitar solos, but this Guns N' Roses track never reached the No. 1 spot on Billboard Hot 100.
Given its enduring legacy as an iconic rock power ballad and one of the genre's most ambitious guitar solos, fans might assume that "November Rain" was a No. 1 smash hit for the hard rock band — but it only ever peaked at No. 3.
First released by the group on their 1991 album Use Your Illusion I, "November Rain" came out as a single in February 1992 and made its debut on the Billboard Hot 100 that June. Two months later, it reached its peak when it soared to the No. 3 spot, bringing the band their second-highest placement ever on the chart. (Their 1988 mega-hit "Sweet Child O' Mine" spent two weeks at No. 1 in 1988.)
But despite "November Rain" never reaching the summit of the Hot 100, its revered guitar solos tell a different story. Slash's multi-part solos on the nearly 9-minute-long track helped establish the song as a defining rock power ballad featuring one of the genre's most celebrated guitar moments.
View this post on Instagram"November Rain" is frequently included on lists of the best guitar solos of all time, including Guitar World's list of the 100 Greatest Guitar Solos of All Time where the Guns N' Roses track is ranked at No. 6.
Guitar World also ranks "November Rain" as the No. 3 best guitar solo from Slash, following behind "Paradise City" and "Sweet Child O' Mine."
Rolling Stone, however, notably left "November Rain" off its May 2026 list of the 100 Greatest Guitar Solos, although Slash's solo on "Sweet Child O' Mine" was named No. 25 on that list.

Beloved Pink Floyd Touring Member Dead at 83
Pink Floyd's David Gilmour shared some unfortunate news on Friday afternoon.
Gilmour wrote in an Instagram post that his "dear friend" and Pink Floyd's saxophonist, Dick Parry, passed away on Friday morning.
"Since I was seventeen, I have played in bands with Dick on saxophone, including Pink Floyd," Gilmour wrote in his caption. "His feel and tone make his saxophone playing unmistakable, a signature of enormous beauty that is known to millions and is such a big part of songs such as 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond,' 'Wish You Were Here,' 'Us and Them' and 'Money.'"
View this post on InstagramParry, who was born on Dec. 22, 1942, was an English saxophonist who heavily contributed to many of Pink Floyd's songs. He started his career as a musician in the 1960s, first with The Soul Committee, a group based in Cambridge. He and Gilmour were lifelong friends, and the Pink Floyd guitarist asked Parry to join them for recording sessions for their albums The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here and The Division Bell, as well as the rock band's world tours that took place between 1973 and 1977, and in 1994.
Outside of Pink Floyd, Parry also toured with The Who, and worked with various artists such as Banco de Gaia, JJ Jackson, Jimmy Dawkins, Bloodstone, Violent Femmes and more.
Dick Parry performs with Pink Floyd. In a 1994 Q&A, Gilmour revealed that he and Parry had not spoken in years until one day, a Christmas card from Parry showed up at his door.
"I knew that years ago he had sold his saxophones and gone into being a farrier, shoeing horses. And he had apparently given that up as well, and he had bought himself another saxophone a year or so ago, and he just sent me a Christmas card," Gilmour recalled. "I asked him if he felt like auditioning for coming on the tour, to see if he still had his chops together, and he told me that he thought he was playing better than he'd ever played. And I got him down to the boat to have a little audition. And he played about three phrases and myself and Bob [Ezrin] said, 'Fine, he's still got it. Screw this auditioning business. See if we can stick him on something.'"
Pink Floyd's Dave Gilmour, Dick Parry, Roger Waters & Rick Wright performing live onstage at Live 8."Here are some pictures of him, including one of him and me playing for the ABC Minors at the Victoria Cinema in Cambridge in 1963," Gilmour concluded in his tribute, and shared four pictures of Parry performing with him and Pink Floyd throughout the years.
Parry was 83 years old when he passed.

1987 Soft Rock Ballad, Nearly Unreleased Before Its Film Success, Became a No. 1 Heartbreak Anthem
Not many fans know that Patrick Swayzewas more than a popular movie star when he rose to fame in Hollywood with Dirty Dancing. The actor also dabbled as a singer and co-wrote a hit love song that almost went unreleased.
There's quit a few lore details about the creation of "She's Like the Wind" sung by Swayze and co-written by Stacy Widelitz. It was one of the few tracks the actor released during his career, and arguably the first for a major motion picture. "She's Like the Wind" was released in December 1987 as part of the Dirty Dancing soundtrack, with not many realizing it was the actor singing its heartfelt lyrics.
The track went on to top the Billboard Adult Contemporary charts at No. 1 and landed at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. It also ranked in at No. 2 on Cash Box, with many recalling the song as a love anthem years later and one of Swazye's best hits.

'She's Like the Wind' was meant for a 1984 comedy filmDetails of how the track ended up in Dirty Dancing vary, with Rob Lowe having once told Joe Rogan that the song was shopped to producers for his 1986 film Youngblood and rejected. According to Widelitz's website, where he doesn't explicitly mention Swayze's name, it was meant for the 1984 film Grandview, USA.
"He called me one afternoon, and said that the movie was looking for songs. He told me that he had a bunch of lyrics and some music, but couldn’t get anywhere with it," he said.
Widelitz details that Swayze came over one night to sing what he had, with him liking the actor's lyrics of “She’s like the wind through my tree, she rides the night next to me.” The following lines, Widelitz wasn't a fan of and told the actor point-blank, which upset Swayze, but ultimately came up with the rest of the hit track. The track was never picked up by Grandview, USA, and Widelitz called it a "godsend."
The track sat in a desk for years as Swayze became a household name. Sometime later, the actor had a BBQ at his home, invited Widelitz, Eleanor Bergstein, and Kenny Ortega, who would be in charge of Dirty Dancing. Swayze later called Widelitz to tell him that they loved "She's Like the Wind" and wanted to include it in the soundtrack.
Dirty Dancing ended up being the perfect film for "She's Like the Wind," despite initial doubts in Hollywood that the film was a flop. The release of the soundtrack also didn't land on the charts until the theatrical release of the film, which tagged it a "sleeper hit." It skyrocketed the tracks to the charts, and one even earned an Oscar win.
"One thing I said at the memorial service – I’ll always be proud that the names Patrick Swayze and Stacy Widelitz are forever linked by something we created, something that has unexpectedly touched millions of people around the world," said Widelitz aabout the actor's death in 2009.
1965 Rock Classic Became a No. 1 Hit 66 Years Ago Today
The Beatles' 1965 tune "Ticket to Ride," off their album Help!, has been a long-time favorite among fans of the iconic British band. According to This Day In Music, the three-minute tune topped the Billboard Hot 100 on May 22, 1966.
According to the website Beatles Music History, Paul McCartney discussed collaborating with his bandmate John Lennon to write "Ticket to Ride" in his biography Paul McCartney: Many Years from Now by Barry Miles, published in 1997.
“We wrote the melody together; you can hear on the record, John’s taking the melody and I‘m singing harmony with it. We'd often work those out as we wrote 'em. Because John sang it, you might have to give him 60 percent of it. It was pretty much a work job that turned out quite well," said the musician to Miles for the book.
In addition, McCartney addressed that Lennon, who died in 1980 at the age of 40, suggested the Wings frontman didn't contribute much to the song.
"John just didn’t take the time to explain that we sat down together and worked on that song for a full three-hour songwriting session, and at the end of it all we had all the words, we had the harmonies, and we had all the little bits," continued McCartney during his interview with Miles.
As Beatles fans are well aware, McCartney, now 83, and Lennon were co-songwriters during their time as bandmates, alongside Ringo Starr and George Harrison. In a 2018 interview with GQ, wherein he shared behind-the-scenes facts about his most beloved hits, McCartney discussed his experience co-writing songs with Lennon.
"I think it's about 300 songs that John and I wrote together. We never had a dry session. We'd always come in, and we never went away from the session going, 'Couldn't get it today.' We always finish a song, which is pretty remarkable," said McCartney during his GQ interview.
Donald Trump Jr. and Bettina Anderson Reportedly Marry Ahead of Intimate Ceremony in the Bahamas
Donald Trump Jr. and his fiancée, socialite Bettina Anderson, are officially married, according to recent reports. TMZ broke the news on Friday afternoon that the couple had legally wed, filing for a marriage license in Palm Beach, Florida. Per TMZ, the Trump family's real estate attorney, Brad McPherson, officiated the legal ceremony. Even though the happy couple may have already tied the knot, that doesn't mean they won't have a Memorial Day weekend wedding.
Earlier this week, Page Six reported that Trump Jr. and Anderson were set to wed in an intimate ceremony in front of close family and friends on a private island in the Bahamas. Since the announcement, the groom-to-be's father, President Donald Trump, has twice seemingly confirmed the nuptials.
On Thursday, while speaking to reporters at the White House, the president said he may have to miss his son's wedding, explaining, “He’d like me to go, but it’s going to be just a small little private affair, and I’m going to try and make it. I’m in the midst…I said, ‘You know this is not good timing for me.’ I have a thing called Iran and other things.”
Trump doubled down on his absence, issuing a statement on Truth Social Friday, “While I very much wanted to be with my son, Don Jr., and the newest member of the Trump Family, his soon to be wife Bettina, circumstances pertaining to Government, and my love for the United States of America, do not allow me to do so.”
The president continued, “I feel it is important for me to remain in Washington, D.C. at the White House during this important period of time.” Of course, he did wish the happy couple well, writing, “Congratulations to Don and Bettina! President DONALD J. TRUMP.”
According to reports, the president was set to go to his Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster over the Memorial Day weekend. Following the announcement on Truth Social, his plans apparently changed, and he is set to remain in Washington, D.C.
Trump, Jr. asked Anderson for her hand in December of 2025. The president announced the engagement at a White House event later the same month.
Anderson posted a video and pics of the pair’s lavish Mar-a-Lago shower last April. While the commander-in-chief did not attend the affair, opulent affair. Trump Jr.'s sisters,Ivanka Trump and Tiffany Trump, along with his sister-in-law (Eric Trump's wife), Lara Trump, celebrated the happy couple. There’s currently no word on the wedding guest list.
Geddy Lee's Trick to Playing and Singing the Hardest Rush Song
Rush is touring again in 2026, and that means a lot of rehearsal. Bassist and frontman Geddy Lee said in a recent interview that he had to relearn the rock band's catalogue once they narrowed down the set list. He has a trick to performing his two roles on the hardest song for him.
Geddy Lee Finds 'Anarchist' the Hardest to PerformLee, 72, said it's hard to play "YYZ" well and the quality is based on "consistency" in an interview with Rick Beato. But there is another song he named as hard for him.

"There's complexity in performance due to the fact that I'm very rarely just the bass player," he said. "So, a song like 'Anarchist,' for example, playing the chorus of that song and singing it is one of the most difficult things I do because they're in two different worlds."
Lee has to play the song repeatedly until he's not thinking about it anymore. Drummer Neil Peart wrote the Clockwork Angels single. The album follows a man who faces an anarchist during his quest in an alternative world.
Joseph Conrad’s The Secret Agent inspired the character. The novel's main character, Verloc, is part of an anarchistic political revolution plot. Michael Ondaatje’sIn The Skin Of A Lion is another inspiration.
"He has a central character who’s a committed terrorist/anarchist. Anarchy is an innocent Utopian thing for him, an ideal," Pert told Louder Sound. Lee wanted to compile their instrumentals, which led to Clockwork Angels. Pert wanted a steampunk vibe to the album.
Of course, Lee is partially responsible for the challenging song. He wrote the bass part first, then added vocals according to Song Facts.

What was Final Jeopardy today?Final Jeopardy today was in the category "LITERARY TERMINOLOGY"
The clue: "17th century critic Thomas Rymer coined this 2-word term, instructing that a work should uphold moral principles & see vice punished."
The answer: "What is the poetic justice?"
Only one contestant got FJ right, and it was reigning champ D'Angleo, who took home his third win on Friday, ending the week on a high note.
The game was already a runaway, as D’Angelo had a massive lead over Weyhmiller and Morris with $20,400 to their $3,200 and $1,800. He made a smart, conservative wager of $4,600, pushing his total to $25,000. ‘Dynasty’ Actor Who Became a Synth-Pop Icon in the ’80s Turns 70
The birthday tributes are pouring in for Al Corley.
An actor, singer, and producer, Corley is best known for two things: his stint on supreme prime-time soap Dynasty and his synth-pop gift to 1984, “Square Rooms.”
View this post on InstagramDuring his time on the television sensation that perfected the open-palm catfight, Corley played Steve Carrington, one of the small screen’s first openly gay characters. The strong-willed, eco-conscious son of an oil tycoon, Steve served as a groundbreaking character, pioneering LGBTQ+ representation on the small screen. Of course, the camera taking every opportunity to showcase his baby blues and blond coif only helped his cause.
In 1982, Corley walked away from acting and pursued a career in music. The transition proved a good move, as several of his songs achieved international chart success. From Germany, he released “Cold Dresses,” “Give It Up,” and “Over Me,” but it was his 1984 synth-pop gem “Square Rooms,” produced by renowned composer HaroldFaltermeyer, that become his signature hit.
“The song benefitted from the same crisp, dance-floor-oriented production style that defined the era’s electronic sound,” Billboard wrote about the chart-topper. “Faltermeyer, who had previously applied his arranging talents to the global smash ‘Self Control’ for Laura Branigan, provided a polished, synth-heavy foundation for Corley.”
The song debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 on May 11, 1985, at No. 96, and peaked at No. 80 in June. The single achieved broader success across Europe, topping the charts in France and reaching the Top 20 in Switzerland, Italy, Germany, and Austria.
“The track stands as a testament to the crossover ambition of the era, where television stars frequently sought to pivot into the recording studio, supported by the cutting-edge electronic arrangements that characterized the 1985 pop radio environment,” Billboard added.
Years later, Corley reprised his acting role for the 1991 miniseries Dynasty: The Reunion. The television event ran as a two-part series on ABC, pulling in strong viewership and network ratings (you can actually revisit the reunion on DailyMotion). He reunited with his cast again in 2015 on the Hallmark Channel talk show Home & Family.
Today, Corley is a producer with the film production and management company CodeEntertainment, whose films include The Ice Road starring Liam Neeson, The Forger starring John Travolta, and Kill the Irishman starring Val Kilmer.
Happy birthday, Al!

'80s Hardcore Punk Band Releases 40th Anniversary Tour Dates
Gang Green is hitting the road once again.
The Boston hardcore punk legends announced on Friday four concerts for their upcoming 40th-Anniversary tour to celebrate the 40 years of their debut album, Another Wasted Night, which came out in 1986.
Widely regarded as one of the defining records of American hardcore and punk, Gang Green became one of Boston's most important and unpredictable bands in the hardcore underground scene. One of the most popular songs was the group's cover of "Voices Carry" by 'Til Tuesday, and it also includes their hits "Alcohol," "19th Hole," the title track and 12 other songs.

The Another Wasted Night Tour consists of four shows on the East Coast. The lineup of concerts kicks off in Hamden, Connecticut, at their Space Ballroom on July 30, and ends at Empire Live in Albany, New York, on Aug. 2. On July 31, Gang Green will take on their hometown show in Boston at the Brighton Music Hall, and on Aug. 1, perform at the Genos Rock Club in Portland, Maine.
This tour marks the return of Gang Green's founding members, Chris Doherty, who suffered from a stroke in 2017, and lost his ability to play guitar and walk.
"Since the stroke, getting back on stage is really all I have thought about. We tried doing some shows a few years ago, and it was fun, but it wasn't right, and I definitely wasn't ready — physically or mentally — so it just turned into [explicit] absolute chaos. And not the good kind," Doherty told Blabbermouth. "This time, we assembled one of the best lineups Gang Green has ever had, and for the first time, I have a great team."
Doherty will be touring with a new lineup of musicians this summer, including Christian "Opus" Lawrence, Mike Modeste and Kai Stone. He formed Gang Green when he was just 15-years-old in 1980 with his friends Mike Dean and Bill Manley. They released their first EP, Unsafe at Any Speed, in 1982. Then, a couple of years later, Doherty reemerged with a new Gang Green lineup and released Another Wasted Night through Taang! Records in 1986.
Green Gang put out five more albums from 1987 to 1997, with Another Case of Brewtality being their most recent record. The group also went through multiple breaks and hiatuses throughout the 1990s, before permanently reuniting for good in 2005.
"It’s definitely a breath of fresh air. This is the stuff I love," Doherty told Lollipop Magazine back in 1997 while promoting Another Case of Brewtality.

In addition to the tour, Doherty is finishing the final touches for his book, Boston Sober, which will be a history of Gang Green and how they shaped the Boston hardcore/punk scene in the late 1970s, 1980s and beyond. Written alongside Thom Hazaert, the biography is slated to be published in early 2027.
Fans can purchase tickets for Gang Green's upcoming Another Wasted Night Tour on Ticketmaster or directly through the venue's website.

Giuliana Rancic Reveals Why She Turned Down 'Dancing with the Stars' Multiple Times
We won't see Giuliana Rancic in the Dancing with the Stars ballroom anytime soon — or will we?
In an interview with Page Six Radio out this week, the former E! News correspondent got to talking about how she turned down the chance to compete on the show multiple times, but years later, it may not be off the table.
View this post on Instagram"I was asked a couple times to go on Dancing with the Stars, they even came to E!, the casting directors, we spoke, I just never did it," she said. "I just never pursued it."
Rancic, 51, also mentioned that the fact that she had scoliosis when she was young, and has rods in her back, also discouraged her from accepting a potential invite to the show.
"I always thought I don't know if I'll be as good as all the other dancers," she said.
However, the offer may or may not be back on her radar as she mentioned that she's been asked again and could use the platform to highlight a cause close to her heart.
"I love rescuing dogs and they're like, 'You could go on and talk about, like, why it's so important, you know, to rescue dogs and adopt,' and that sort of thing." she shared.

"It just wasn't right for me at that time, so we'll see," she said.
