Six Flags Over Texas Officially Opens World's Tallest, Fastest, Longest Dive Coaster
If you're a die-hard coaster enthusiast who lives for that single, stomach-dropping moment right before a massive plunge, it’s officially time to adjust your summer travel plans. After a wave of anticipation and a brief testing delay that had the internet running wild with theories, the wait is officially over.
Six Flags Over Texas has officially opened Tormenta: Rampaging Run.
And they aren't just introducing a new ride for the park’s landmark 65th anniversary season—they have unleashed the world's very first "giga dive coaster" (a specialized engineering category for dive coasters scaling between 300 and 400 feet tall).

Six Flags Over Texas
Built by the legendary Swiss ride manufacturers Bolliger & Mabillard, this steel beast completely rewrites the global record books by claiming six distinct world records the exact second it charges out of the gate:
- The Tallest Dive Coaster: Towering a staggering 309 feet into the air.
- The Highest Beyond-Vertical Drop: A terrifying 285-foot plunge toward the earth.
- The Highest Immelmann Inversion: Flipping riders head-over-heels at a record-breaking 218 feet in the air.
- The Tallest Vertical Coaster Loop: A massive, loop-the-loop track element scaling 179 feet tall.
- The Fastest Dive Coaster: Rocketing passengers to a maximum velocity of 87 mph.
- The Longest Dive Coaster: Blasting through a sprawling 4,199 feet of track.
The physical ride layout is engineered around pure, unadulterated suspense. The custom open-air vehicles carry daring riders up a massive 309-foot lift hill, revealing a sweeping, panoramic view of the entire Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. But you won't have long to admire the skyline.

The train hits a holding brake right at the precipice, pausing passengers face-first over the edge for three agonizing seconds. You are left staring directly down at a 95-degree, beyond-vertical drop—which, as the park likes to point out, isn't just straight down; it's technically angled on the other side of straight down. Once the brake releases, the coaster drops into a free-fall acceleration that hits top speeds in a flash, seamlessly transitioning through a high-velocity sequence of giant flips and weightless airtime moments.
Beyond the jaw-dropping track specs, Six Flags has used the launch to execute a massive, beautifully detailed overhaul of its historic Spain section, completely transforming it into Rancho de la Tormenta.
The area is styled as a secluded, rustic Spanish village celebrating a fictional festival dedicated to the ranch hands who raised the town's most legendary, powerful bull, Tormenta. The entire zone has been elevated with vibrant festive banners, restored historic fountains, upbeat cultural music, and brand-new cooling mist zones to offer some much-needed mercy from the intense Texas summer sun.
"Tormenta: Rampaging Run is set to forever change not only the Arlington skyline, but the full lineup of thrills only offered at Six Flags Over Texas," said Pete Carmichael, park president of Six Flags Over Texas. "With the addition of this record-breaking dive coaster, Six Flags Over Texas is a must-visit destination for thrill lovers from all over the world."
The ride is officially running daily for the general public right now. Just a quick pro-tip for anyone packing their bags to tackle the bull this summer: because this coaster does not negotiate with pockets, the park utilizes a strict locker system similar to Disney's Tron Lightcycle/Run. You'll need to stash all loose treasures, hats, and phones in the plaza lockers before you can ever scale the loading platform stairs. Go ahead and drop the gate—the wildest ride in Texas is officially waiting for you.

41 Years Ago Today, a 21-Minute Set Was Voted the Greatest Live Performance in Rock History
Forty-one years ago today, one of the biggest bands in rock walked onto a stadium stage for just 21 minutes and, according to critics and fellow musicians, delivered the greatest live performance the genre has ever seen.
On July 13, 1985, Queen took the stage at London's Wembley Stadium as part of Live Aid, the dual-continent benefit concert that raised more than $100 million for famine relief in Africa. Nearly two billion people watched. Frontman Freddie Mercury, guitarist Brian May, drummer Roger Taylor and bassist John Deacon had a short slot, and they made every second count.
Twenty-One Minutes That Made HistoryQueen tore through a run of hits including "Bohemian Rhapsody," "Radio Ga Ga" and "We Are the Champions," with Mercury leading a packed stadium through his famous call-and-response chant. In 2005, a poll of musicians and industry insiders voted it the greatest live performance in rock history, ahead of even Jimi Hendrix's set at Woodstock.

A Moment That Outlived the ConcertThe set became so legendary that it was recreated, nearly shot for shot, as the climax of the 2018 Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody. Live Aid itself, organized by Bob Geldof, remains one of the most ambitious charity concerts ever staged.

Legendary 'Star Wars' and 'Indiana Jones' Actor Turns 84 Today
Harrison Ford turns 84 today, and the actor who played two of the most iconic heroes in movie history is working harder than stars half his age.
Ford's career stretches back nearly 50 years, from Han Solo in Star Wars and the title role in the Indiana Jones films to Blade Runner, The Fugitive and Air Force One. Yet some of his busiest years have come recently. In 2025 he made his Marvel debut as President Thaddeus Ross in Captain America: Brave New World, and he stars as ranch patriarch Jacob Dutton in the Yellowstone prequel 1923.
The biggest surprise came on television. Ford earned his first-ever Emmy nomination in 2025 for Shrinking, the Apple TV+ comedy in which he plays a therapist living with Parkinson's disease. It was a striking milestone for an actor whose only Oscar nomination came four decades ago, for the 1985 thriller Witness. He did not win, but critics have praised his Season 3 work and he is back in the awards conversation.

Not Quite Ready to Say GoodbyeFor all the momentum, Ford has hinted he may finally slow down, telling reporters he would be content to retire when Shrinking ends. He has also said, more than once, that he simply loves the work.
Off screen, Ford has been married to actress Calista Flockhart since 2010, and the two made a rare red carpet appearance together at the Emmys.
At 84, he is still Han Solo, still Indiana Jones, and still one of the busiest men in Hollywood.

Disney Restores Cinderella Castle to Its Classic 1971 Opening Day Colors
If you’ve clicked through vacation photos from Walt Disney World over the last few years, your eyes have probably had to adjust to a pretty dramatic, modern shift at the end of Main Street, U.S.A. To celebrate the resort's 50th anniversary back in 2021, the iconic Cinderella Castle was given a bold makeover that swapped its vintage gray stone for a vibrant rose-pink facade.
For anyone who grew up loving the classic storybook aesthetic of the park's early days, those original memories run deep.
After several months of highly visible construction under a strict noon-cutoff schedule, Disney has officially wrapped a massive, top-to-bottom restoration project. The heavy rosy hues are gone, and Cinderella Castle has officially returned to a refined, classic color scheme that draws its direct inspiration from the castle's grand 1971 opening day debut.
The project was a massive collaborative effort between Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) and the resort's Facility Asset Management (FAM) infrastructure team. Grounded in extensive historical research, the crews meticulously designed a custom palette specifically engineered to interact beautifully with the unique, bright Central Florida sun.
“Presented with the opportunity to introduce a new color palette, it was important for us to consider the history and heritage of our beautiful Castle,” saidChris Weck, Senior Creative Director with Walt Disney Imagineering. ”We took our inspiration from that classic vision of the Castle in 1971 by selecting elegant shades that lean into the element of fantasy. To highlight the architectural details of the Castle, we used deep blue roofs, stonework, and graceful gold trim to celebrate the details and whimsy of our park icon.”

To pull off the restoration without completely disrupting the vacation memories of thousands of daily park guests, the team had to execute some serious behind-the-scenes engineering acrobatics.
Led by Nathan Collahuazo, an Associate Project Manager with Disney's FAM team, crews had to build temporary dams and completely drain hundreds of thousands of gallons of water from the iconic Castle moat just to safely position massive boom lifts around the structure's base.
Disney Parks Blog
From there, painters suited up in specialized safety harnesses to work at dizzying heights of more than 150 feet in the air, utilizing small rollers and fine-detail hand brushes to meticulously layer the new stonework shading, crisp white walls, deep blue roof turrets, and gleaming gold trim.
But the real magic of the execution was the daily timeline. To protect the classic, unobstructed photo opportunities that families count on, the crews operated under a strict hard stop every single day. At exactly 15 minutes before noon, the massive industrial cranes were completely lowered, packed up, and driven entirely out of guest sightlines. By 12:00 p.m., the hub was entirely clear, allowing afternoon visitors to capture pristine, crane-free shots of the updated landmark.

The final touches are now complete, the industrial gear has been packed away for good, and the water has officially been refilled into the surrounding moat.
For the team who spent months hanging off the spires, seeing the final product in the morning light was an incredibly emotional milestone. “Five years ago, I was not even working for Disney yet,” he shared. “Now I drive into work and get to say I helped manage the work on Cinderella Castle. That’s something I’ll carry with me forever. It’s truly a dream come true, and it gets me excited about the potential of what else I can do while working here.”
The next time you walk under the train station and look down Main Street, you’ll be greeted by a towering symbol that feels instantly timeless all over again. It’s a beautiful, grounded reminder that while Disney is constantly building toward the future, they still know exactly how to honor the classic history that started it all.

The Greatest Guitarist You've Never Heard Of Turns 67 Today
Millions of country music fans have heard Brent Mason play guitar. Most just don't realize it.
The Grammy winner, who turns 67 today, July 13, 2026, has performed on more than 2,000 Top 10 hit singles during a career that has made him one of the most recorded guitarists in history and one of Nashville's most indispensable musicians.
Born in Van Wert, Ohio, Mason taught himself to play guitar by ear at just 5 years old before moving to Nashville after high school to chase his dream of becoming a professional musician. While playing with the Don Kelly Band at a local honky-tonk, he caught the attention of country guitar legend Chet Atkins, who invited the young guitarist to perform on his album Stay Tuned. That opportunity opened the door to a career that would reshape the sound of modern country music.
Over the next four decades, Mason became the first-call session guitarist for many of the biggest stars in country music. His distinctive playing can be heard on recordings by George Strait, Alan Jackson, Shania Twain, Brooks & Dunn, Reba McEntire, Tim McGraw, Willie Nelson, Randy Travis, Trisha Yearwood, Blake Shelton and dozens more. Along the way, he earned a record 12 Academy of Country Music Guitarist of the Year awards, two CMA Musician of the Year honors and a Grammy Award, while Guitar World named him one of the Top 10 Session Guitarists of All Time.
What made Mason so valuable was his remarkable versatility. Speaking with Premier Guitar in 2012, he explained that the goal of a great session player is convincing listeners you've lived inside every style of music. "If you sit me in a studio, I'll make sure that by the time I'm out of there it sounds like I've been playing that music every night," he said. "I can go from a jazz session one day to playing hillbilly twang on an Alan Jackson session the next."
Ironically, Mason admits that becoming one of Nashville's most sought-after musicians came with an unexpected tradeoff. "The only negative thing about the studio scene… is that you kind of lose who you are, because you become such a chameleon," he told Premier Guitar. "You become such a perfectionist that, after a while, you might not like anything anymore."
Although he's released his own instrumental albums, won nearly every honor available to a studio musician and even has signature guitar models from Fender, PRS and Gibson, Mason has always seemed most comfortable making other artists sound their best. As his official biography notes, his impact on the Nashville studio scene "cannot be overstated," with his instantly recognizable guitar work helping define the sound of countless country classics.
For an artist whose name may not be familiar outside guitar circles, Brent Mason's influence is almost impossible to overstate. Chances are, if you've loved country music over the last 40 years, you've already heard one of the greatest guitarists of his generation, even if you never knew who was playing.

1977 Soft Rock Classic, Written Overnight in 30 Minutes, Became a Signature Song on Iconic No. 1 Album
Christine McVie was one of the most influential members of Fleetwood Mac.
The legendary songstress wrote and performed on some of the band’s most beloved songs during their heyday in the late 1970s. But only one song could be considered her signature anthem, and that song was “Songbird.”
Written solely by McVie and appearing on the iconic 1977 album Rumours, “Songbird” wasn’t released as a single. But it became a fan favorite and one of Fleetwood Mac's most iconic songs from their No.1 album.
The delicate piano ballad featured lyrics about strength and unconditional love and hope.
McVie, who died in 2022 at age 79, once revealed that “Songbird” came to her out of nowhere.
“For some peculiar reason I wrote ‘Songbird' in half an hour,” she told People magazine in 2017. “I've never been able to figure out how I did that.”
“I woke up in the middle of the night, and the song was there in my brain... chords, lyrics melody, everything,” McVie shared. “I played it in my bedroom and didn't have anything to tape it on. So I had to stay awake all night so I wouldn't forget it, and I came in the next morning to the studio and had [producer] Ken Callait put it on a 2-track. That was how the song ended up being. I don't know where that came from.”
In 2015, McVie told Mojo that “Songbird” felt like a “gift from the angels,” per American Songwriter.
But she also worried she would forget the song overnight. McVie once admitted she was nervous to play the song for her bandmates, Mick Fleetwood, Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, and her ex-husband John McVie.
"That was a strange little baby, that one," McVie told The Guardian of the song. "I woke up in the middle of the night and the song just came into my head. ... I sang it from beginning to end, everything. …I was frightened to play it again in case I'd forgotten it.”
“I played it nervously, but I remembered it,” she continued. “Everyone just sat there and stared at me. I think they were all smoking opium or something in the control room. I've never had that happen to me since. Just the one visitation. It's weird."
Not only did the band love the song, but fans did too.
Nearly 50 years later, “Songbird” is still remembered as one of the most beautiful songs on the Rumours album, after having become a concert showstopper for decades.
“When Christine played ‘Songbird,’ grown men would weep,” John McVie once said, per Rolling Stone. “I did every night.”

Harrison Ford Waited 15 Years for His Big Break—His Advice Still Resonates Today
As Harrison Ford celebrates his birthday today on July 13, it's a fitting time to reflect on the remarkable career of one of Hollywood's most beloved stars. Audiences know him as Han Solo and Indiana Jones, but Ford's greatest lesson may be that lasting success isn't built on instant fame. It is built on persistence.
Ford's journey to becoming one of the biggest movie stars in history was not easy. Born in Chicago on July 13, 1942, he spent years struggling to make a living as an actor, supporting himself as a carpenter while raising a family and auditioning whenever he could. Years passed without a major break, but instead of walking away from his dream, he kept going.
That perseverance paid off. After nearly 15 years of bouncing between construction jobs and acting gigs, his breakthrough finally came when George Lucas cast him as Han Solo in Star Wars. That role transformed his career, paving the way for iconic performances in the Indiana Jones movies, Witness, The Fugitive, Blade Runner, Air Force One, and dozens of other films that have made him one of the highest-grossing actors of all time.
Yet even after years of blockbuster success, Ford has never stopped challenging himself. In recent years, he has earned some of the strongest reviews of his career for his performances in Shrinking and 1923, proving that reinvention has become one of his greatest strengths.
Over more than six decades, Ford has built one of the most remarkable careers in entertainment, balancing blockbuster franchises with acclaimed dramatic performances. Rather than relying on the characters that made him famous, he has continually sought out new roles that challenge both himself and audiences. His longevity is a testament to his talent and willingness to keep growing as an artist.
Beyond the screen, Ford has devoted much of his life to conservation and environmental advocacy. An accomplished pilot, he has served on the board of Conservation International for more than 30 years, championing efforts to protect forests, wildlife, and the planet's natural resources.Whether in his acting career or his personal life, Ford has long embraced the idea that meaningful accomplishments come from dedication, purpose, and perseverance.
Those qualities are reflected in today's Quote of the Day, which offers a glimpse into the mindset that carried Harrison Ford from struggling actor and carpenter to one of the most respected and beloved stars in Hollywood.
Quote of the Day by Harrison FordEarlier this year, the Screen Actors Guild honored Ford with its Lifetime Achievement Award. In addition for being recognized for his extraordinary body of work, he was celebrated for his lasting impact on generations of performers. Accepting the honor, Ford reflected on the years of uncertainty that came before his breakthrough. In his inspiring acceptance speech, he shared that dreams rarely happen overnight and that persistence is often the difference between giving up and finally getting your chance.
"I'm still a working actor. I was not an overnight success," said Ford. "I struggled for about 15 years going from acting job to carpentry and back to acting until I finally got a part in a wildly successful film."
Ford has often returned to that message throughout his career. He once said, "The only thing that I have done that is not mitigated by luck… is that I persisted, and other people gave up."
This message resonates far beyond Hollywood. Careers and dreams are filled with setbacks, self-doubt, and moments when quitting feels easier than continuing. Harrison Ford's life is proof that staying the course and believing in yourself can open doors that once seemed impossible.
Deeper Meaning of Harrison Ford's QuoteThis quote reveals that true success is not just about raw talent or waiting for the perfect moment. It is about emotional stamina. While luck can open doors, it only matters if you are still standing there to walk through them. By focusing on his own endurance rather than comparing himself to others, Ford shows that simply outlasting your challenges is often the single variable you can actually control in your life. As Ford celebrates another birthday, his story reminds us that success can happen for the people who refuse to stop trying.
Other Quotes from Harrison Ford"Without my work, I really wouldn't know what to do with myself. I really do love the work."
"I'm indeed a lucky guy, lucky to have found my people, lucky to have work that challenges me, lucky to still be doing it. And I don't take that for granted."
"I'm still ambitious to do only the good stuff."
"The stories we tell have a unique capacity to create moments of emotional connection. They bring us together."
"Sometimes we make entertainment. Sometimes we make art. Sometimes we're lucky we make them both at the same time."

Erling Haaland's Girlfriend Stuns With Custom Outfit in World Cup Game
As Norway's historic World Cup journey captured the attention of football fans around the world, another moment from the tournament quickly drew attention away from the pitch.
Erling Haaland's longtime girlfriend, Isabel Haugseng Johansen, impressed fans after sharing photos of herself wearing a custom Norway-inspired outfit during the team's World Cup campaign.
Johansen posted pictures of herself in a sleeveless red satin-style dress inspired by the Norwegian flag. The outfit featured a large blue cross with white borders running down the center and across the chest, mirroring Norway's national flag design.

She paired the custom dress with white strappy open-toe heels and completed the outfit with a delicate white beaded choker necklace, gold bracelets, rings and bright red nail polish that matched the dress. The fitted bodice and flowing lower half of the dress gave the look an elegant finish while keeping the patriotic theme front and center.
View this post on InstagramThe images quickly attracted praise from fans, many of whom flooded the comments section with compliments about the former footballer's appearance and style.
"Today you're dressed to kill 👏,” a fan wrote.
"What an iconic dress, I absolutely love it!!!” another added.
A commented chimed in with, "Our man's wife"
"Wonderful ❤️😍 the princess of our prince 😍,” said another.
"Elegant and minimalist. I love the way she dresses ❤️,” a follower gushed.
Isabel Haugseng Johansen Shows Support During Norway's World Cup JourneyJohansen has been a regular presence throughout Norway's 2026 World Cup campaign in the United States, often sharing moments from matches and supporting Haaland from the stands and on social media.
The tournament marked Norway's first World Cup appearance since 1998 and saw the nation reach the quarterfinals for the first time in generations. Haaland entered the England match with seven goals in the tournament and was chasing the Golden Boot after a remarkable run that included a brace against Brazil in the round of 16.
Norway's campaign ended with a 2-1 quarterfinal defeat to England at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on July 11. Andreas Schjelderup scored Norway's only goal before Jude Bellingham netted twice to send England through to the semifinals.
Haaland and Johansen share a connection that stretches back to childhood. Both grew up in Bryne, a small town in southwestern Norway, and both played for Bryne FK during their younger years.
Johansen was a talented footballer herself and played in the club's women's program. According to Mirror UK, she scored 23 goals in 36 appearances after making her senior debut at just 13 years old.
Their friendship later developed into a relationship while Haaland was playing for Borussia Dortmund in Germany.
According to Haaland, Johansen was the one who made the first move.
"She sent me a message. She played for the same club I played for, Bryne, so she checked me out. I didn't check her out," he told NRK with a grin.
The couple welcomed their first child, a son, in December 2024 and have largely kept their family life private despite Haaland's global fame.
Johansen may prefer life away from the spotlight, but her latest World Cup appearance ensured she became one of the tournament's most talked-about supporters, with her custom Norway dress earning admiration almost as quickly as Haaland's performances on the field.

The artist, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, continues to dominate music and entertainment following his Grammy victories, his record-setting Super Bowl LX halftime show and the worldwide success of his Debí Tirar Más Fotos World Tour.

The adidas BadBo 1.1 will officially continue the BadBo sneaker line after multiple BadBo 1.0 colorways, along with golf and baseball cleat editions, gained attention from sneaker fans and collectors.
View this post on InstagramAccording to early details, the BadBo 1.1 is scheduled to release with a retail price of $120, making it $40 less expensive than the BadBo 1.0's original $160 launch price.
The sneaker keeps much of the original silhouette intact, including its recognizable shape, curved panel design and midsole structure. However, adidas has introduced several updates to separate the sequel from its predecessor.
Among the biggest changes is the move from leather side windows to dimpled mesh panels. The toe area also receives a redesign, replacing the flat toe cap with a suede T-toe overlay inspired by classic adidas models including the Samba, Gazelle and Handball.
Additional design changes include more exposed mesh beneath the tongue and a lower, thinner collar that creates the low-top profile. Early images show a soft pink color treatment, although adidas is expected to introduce additional colorways in the future.
The BadBo 1.1 follows a successful run for the BadBo 1.0, which quickly became one of adidas Originals' most talked-about celebrity collaborations.
Earlier this year, Bad Bunny debuted the "Resilience" BadBo 1.0 colorway during his Super Bowl LX halftime performance.
Bad Bunny wore the sneaker during his halftime appearance alongside an all-white outfit and a No. 64 jersey honoring his late uncle. The performance featured guest appearances from Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin and later earned a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Variety Special (Live).
The timing of the launch also matches Bad Bunny's continued visibility across music, television, film and fashion.
He made history when Debí Tirar Más Fotos became the first all-Spanish-language album to win the Grammy Award for Album of the Year. His Super Bowl LX halftime show became one of the most watched performances in the event's history and later received nine Primetime Emmy nominations, setting a new record for a halftime production.
His world tour has sold out venues across Europe, including multiple performances in Madrid and major stadium appearances in London.
Outside music, Bad Bunny is expanding his acting career with upcoming film projects and a role in Toy Story 5, where he voices the character Pizza With Sunglasses.
Now, with the arrival of the adidas BadBo 1.1, the global star is adding another major release to an already busy year.

Andrew Lloyd Webber Musical Based on Tragic 1950 Film Opened 33 Years Ago
From Some Like It Hot to Sunset Blvd., filmmaker Billy Wilder certainly made a stamp on Hollywood during the 20th century.
The latter ultimately became a staged production more than four decades after its theatrical release, courtesy of Andrew Lloyd Webber. Sunday, July 12 marked exactly 33 years since Sunset Boulevard the musical opened in London, with Patti LuPone portraying the infamous Norma Desmond role originally brought to life on the big screen by Gloria Swanson.
After Webber, 78, saw the film in the early 1970s, he became inspired to write a title song for a theatrical adaptation, according to his official website. Speaking on the process of creating the songs, he said, “I began composing the score shortly after the opening of Aspects of Love in London in 1989. I tried various versions of the title song, but came back to the original idea I had in the early 70s, albeit in a very different style and form."
Webber continued, per his website, "I stayed with my late '70s draft of the moment where Norma returns to Paramount, 'As If We Never Said Goodbye.' Otherwise mostly everything has been written since 1989."
These days, fans can enjoy the Original Broadway Cast Recording from 1994 on Spotify.
Back in 1951, Sunset Blvd. the film won three Academy Awards, though it nominated for a whole lot more. As film buffs well know, it also stars William Holden — and by the turn of the century, the American Film Institute ranked the tragic dark comedy near the top of its “Greatest American Movies of All Time” list.
Rotten Tomatoes, meanwhile, calls it “arguably the greatest movie about Hollywood.” Here’s the official synopsis:
"An aging silent film queen (Swanson) refuses to accept that her stardom has ended. She hires a young screenwriter (Holden) to help set up her movie comeback. The screenwriter believes he can manipulate her, but he soon finds out he is wrong. The screenwriter’s ambivalence about their relationship and her unwillingness to let go leads to a situation of violence, madness and death."
