A New Trailer for 'The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping' Has Just Been Released

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 8:47am

A brand-new trailer for the highly anticipated upcoming Hunger Games movie, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reapinghas just been released, and it makes it clear that audiences should be ready for a devastating (but also brilliantly acted and visually stunning) story.

The trailer, shared to Lionsgate's official Instagram account, shows brand-new clips of some of the cast, including Elle Fanningas Effie Trinket, Kieran Culkinas Caesar Flickerman and Maya Hawke as Wiress. All three are stepping into roles that have already been featured in the original Hunger Games movies.

Sunriseon the Reaping is the latest installment in the ever-growing Hunger Games franchise. After the first book, titled Hunger Games, was released in 2008, audiences were captivated by the story of Panem, a place where children from ages 12 to 18 are forced to fight one another to the death on live TV as a way for the Capitol to keep control over the districts. The dystopian nightmare came to theaters in 2012.

Over the last nearly 20 years, the books and movies have flourished. The original trilogy of books became four movies, all of which were well received. Author Suzanne Collins then surprised fans of the franchise with the release of the book The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, which was published in 2020. That movie followed in 2023.

Now, Sunrise on the Reaping, the book for which was published in 2025, will hit theaters on November 20, 2026. This new story centers on Haymitch Abernathy, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark's mentor from the original Hunger Games trilogy of books. He, like Katniss and Peeta will be many years later, will be 'playing' in the games. As the books revealed—and as is expected in this franchise—this movie is about to be absolutely gutting. However, this new trailer makes it clear that it will also be yet another excellent addition to the beloved franchise.

‘The Pitt’ Star Taylor Dearden, Daughter of Bryan Cranston, Is Stunning All Glammed up on the Red Carpet

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 8:34am

The Pitt star Taylor Dearden is looking lovely when she ditches those hospital scrubs.

Dearden, 33, who got her start with a role on her father Bryan Cranston's most famous series, Breaking Bad, went on to appear on the MTV series Sweet/Vicious and the Netflix series American Vandal. But it’s her role as the sweet second-year resident Dr. Melissa King, opposite Noah Wyle on TV’s hottest medical series, The Pitt, that has kicked Dearden’s star power into high gear. While we're used to seeing her in navy blue hospital scrubs on the series, the beauty got to have a little more fun with her wardrobe for a screening of HBO's hit series at PaleyFest LA at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. It's fun to see her get to spice things up a bit!

Will Dr. Mel King Have a Romantic Storyline on The Pitt?

In a revealing new interview, Dearden opened up about the potential for her character to have a romantic storyline in the future.

“The truth is I don’t know…. We have to keep some stuff open because we don’t know where the writers want to take the story,” Dearden told Glamour in a new interview. “What I’ve envisioned may not be the direction they want to go.”

Dearden also said that she doesn’t really inject much romance into Dearden’s life.

“But for me, I always saw Mel as someone who is not romantic — as actually genuinely asexual — and friendship is the most important thing for her. That flirtation, romance, that aspect is not really a part of her, but it’s also hard to make that decision without consulting the writers and seeing what direction they want to go in,” she noted, adding that’s “how I’ve always envisioned Mel and how I’ve played her.”

Dearden added that she’s willing to adapt if need be.

“Hopefully loose enough that I can change course if need be,” she said. “I think everything for Mel is connection to people and being friends and having true companionship, which I don’t think needs to be romantic.”

Who Does Taylor Dearden Play on The Pitt?

Dearden’s Pitt character, Dr. Mel King, is a fan favorite on the series. Like her character, Dearden is also neurodivergent. However, unlike Dearden, King has not yet been diagnosed.

On a panel back in December, Dearden explained that her character on the show has not been diagnosed with ADHD. Dearden thinks the doctor has likely been affected by her sister having autism.

“If you have a sibling who’s more severely on a spectrum, the parents often don’t even notice that their other child is,” Dearden said, PEOPLE reported. “That’s kind of always how I saw it. With a lot of Mel, it’s just kind of unmasking and seeing what that looks like, and then also being like, ‘Wow, I’m kind of glad I mask sometimes.’ “

Does Taylor Dearden Have ADHD?

Dearden has opened up about her lifelong journey through ADHD and how she’s taking that into play when it comes to navigating the experience of her character. In speaking about her character’s experience, Dearden hasn’t shied away from opening up about her own ADHD journey. She recently spoke with Harper’s Bazaar and shared how she came to learn she had ADHD.

“I was really young. My second-grade teacher said to my parents, ‘She can’t finish a test. Something’s up here.’ Usually, girls get diagnosed with ADHD later in life, but luckily, I was a little hyperactive. Because of that, I presented more like a boy, and I was able to get diagnosed earlier,” Dearden shared, noting that a significant amount of progress has been made in the study of ADHD even in the last five years.

In the PEOPLE piece, Dearden noted that one of her tips for dealing with some of her challenges is giving herself advice.

“I’m on the ADHD spectrum so I gave myself advice in the mirror,” she noted.

This Wallet-Friendly Cruise Is the Sun-Drenched, Good Vibes Escape We’ve Been Missing

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 8:33am

Walking onto a cruise ship for the first time is one of those sensory overload moments that I’ve come to love most about being a travel and cruise editor. It’s that high-energy, celebratory spirit that carries the day all the way from the terminal to the sail-away party.

Boarding Jimmy Buffett’s catalog-inspired second ship, the Margaritaville at Sea Islander, I’ll admit I was expecting a non-stop party. Originally built in 2000 for CostaCruises before a massive, down-to-the-studs 2024 reimagining, the ship didn't disappoint. I silently counted more than nine bars just on the lower decks and even passed a 14-foot-tall electric blue flip-flop that serves as a neon beacon for the "License to Chill" lifestyle.

Hemisphere Dancer—that's my favorite bar,” pointed out Amee Raval, Margaritaville at Sea’s VP of Marketing and Demand, just as we were walking on. She was also on the ship for the week and kindly helped me discover the sailing's highlights on my solo writer's trip. “It’s the craft cocktail bar, and there’s always live music." With its blonde oak tones and couples already bellying up for hand-shaken pours, it felt less like a corporate franchise and more like a local haunt where the service is as warm as the Gulf breeze.

To my surprise, that spirit continued throughout the journey. Just like a favorite Jimmy Buffett deep cut, I found a surprising amount of substance that lingered long after the novelty of the tropical prints wears off. Here's why:

Margaritaville at Sea

For this journey, I stayed in a Serene Junior Suite, and as far as cruise cabins go, it was a breath of fresh air. Think white planked walls, teal accents and a nautical theme that avoids being kitschy. At 270 square feet, it felt incredibly spacious with a king-sized bed and plenty of room to actually move around without a tactical plan. The bathroom featured speckled tile and a modern stand-up shower, and the balcony had enough room for two loungers—perfect for staring at the Gulf of Mexico on the way to Progreso.

While it’s part of the concierge suite category, I’d definitely suggest the upgrade, especially for families or groups of four. The price is often comparable to a standard family cabin on those "mega" ships, but you get twice the space, prime mid-ship positioning, and crucially, early entry to the entertainment.

“We’ve got six suites on board themed around songs,” Margaritaville at Sea CEO Christopher Ivy told me as we toured the decks, noting that the design was meant to bring the stories within the music to life. That thoughtfulness shows up in the small details. Ivy said there's even 26 hidden "flip flops" throughout the ship for die-hard Parrotheads to discover.

Food & Drink: Beyond the Buffet

Meghann Foye

As any regular cruiser knows, the golden rule is to skip the buffet on Day 1, but I couldn't help myself. A quick ride up to Floor 9 led me straight to the hand-tossed pizza bar at Frank and Lola's Pizza. I have to say, its "best at sea" moniker might actually be true—it’s an ooey-gooey, cheesy variety that hits differently than the standard NY-style slices.

While the Port of Indecision buffet offered a smaller spread of Caribbean-inspired hot-plate meals and fresh fruit, the real "main characters" of lunch were just outside: the smash-burger style Cheeseburger in Paradise and the Mexican Cutie Cantina. It’s clear the ship isn't trying to compete with the 50-item buffet lines of the contemporary mega-ships; instead, it offers a more focused, "best-of" approach that feels less wasteful and more intentional.

For dinner, I tested the JWB Steakhouse, where the steak tartare and filet mignon were flawless. The wine selection even included some Portuguese options—a recent passion of mine—which was a sophisticated touch. The service throughout the two-story Fins Dining room felt like a throwback to old-school hospitality where the staff actually stops to have a genuine conversation. It reminded me of a moment from The Bear about the importance of anticipating a guest's needs; that spirit was coming through in every detail.

As Ivy explained, that level of service is simply part of the DNA. 'In today's world, great hospitality doesn't exist as much as it might have in the past,' he said. 'I think we have the ability to create that at something that's approachable for the entire family... It's a multi-billion dollar footprint, but we think of it like it's still a family business at the end of the day.'"

The Pool Deck: High-Vibe Energy and Bespoke Pours

Margaritaville at Sea

This is where the heart of the ship’s energy lives—and honestly, where everyone hangs out. The central LandShark Pool and 5 o'Clock Somewhere Pool in the aft both offer a high-energy, celebratory atmosphere that somehow manages to stay relaxed. If you’re looking for a little more room to spread out, there are private, for-fee cabanas available that provide a dedicated party spot for the day, though I found it pretty easy to snag a prime lounger even on sea days.

The pool bars are a total show-stopper, and not just because of the tropical menu. I watched a fellow passenger request a special frozen drink that was pretty spring-break perfect—a vibrant pink and blue concoction—and the bartender seemed genuinely happy to create a bespoke version for me, too. It’s that level of "yes, and" service that makes the Islander feel more like a personalized boutique stay than a mass-market vessel. Whether you’re at the main pool or the aft-view bar, the staff stops to have real conversations, a refreshing change from the high-volume, transactional service on some of the bigger lines.

The Secret Weapon: An Under-the-Radar Café Escape

Meghann Foye

Perhaps the biggest surprise on the ship—and the one that will give other lines' famous cafés a serious run for their money—is the coffee and pastry hub Margaritaville Coffee Shop. For a "budget bougie" traveler like me, a good morning routine is non-negotiable, and I found my sanctuary here. I spent many mornings with a perfectly pulled iced latte and an exquisite lemon curd & meringue cronut that was, quite frankly, French-bakery level.

The pastry selection is incredibly refined; it’s the kind of under-the-radar detail that gives the whole experience more of a premium feel. By noon, the case is usually packed with hand-made treats that make for the perfect afternoon pick-me-up. Finding this level of craftsmanship tucked away near the high-energy pool deck felt like a secret find. It’s the ideal spot to sit with your treats, soak in the breeze and just be present with your group—which, on this ship, seems to be the entire point.

The Bars and the Speakeasy 'Quietly Making Noise'

Wasting away in Margaritaville has a multi-level meaning here. It’s the cruise ship where you don’t need a complicated app or a list of 1,000 "big thrills" to check off. On the first day, I chatted with a mom and her two teens who were probably initially looking for the big waterpark games, but by the end of the trip, I wondered if they’d bonded in that classic, analog way that comes from not having endless FOMO-inducing options.

My top three bars on the ship:

  1. Hemisphere Dancer: Amee was right, of course. For the smoky "Mile High" bourbon cocktail referencing Jimmy's aviation days (pictured above) and the live singer who can hit every difficult note from Celine Dion to La Vie en Rose.
  2. Bubbles Up Bar: A gorgeous, gold-accented piano bar with a player who brings the high-octane energy and showmanship of Elton John.
  3. Havana Daydreamin’ Sports Bar: A Deck 3 gem that's the perfect blend of old and new. Interestingly, in the ship's former life, the space was built as a replica of the historic Caffè Florian in Venice, right down to the crest on the wall. While the rest of the ship underwent that massive overhaul, Ivy recognized the artistry here. "I walked in and thought it would be a crime to change it," Ivy told me. "This bar is original. It was beautiful." By layering lush floral wallpaper over those bones, they’ve created a space that feels like a historic social club—and it's exactly where I’d want to be watching the World Cup this summer.

The two-hour speakeasy "Quietly Making Noise" tour is the soul of the journey. It’s a cool, fascinating deep dive into Jimmy’s life that pairs craft cocktails with a look at his personal vinyl collection and guitars. Our guide shared the story behind Bubbles Up, a term Jimmy learned in flight school: if you ever crash-land underwater, you look for where the bubbles are going up to find your way to the surface. It’s a powerful metaphor for navigating life's turbulence, and it's a detail that stayed with me long after I disembarked.

The Hero Moment

One of the most incredible moves by this cruise line is the Heroes Sail Free program done in partnership with GOVX, which honors veterans, first responders and educators with complimentary cruise fares. While guests still cover taxes and port fees, it’s a massive value and a hallmark of the brand. On every cruise, there is a special moment where these heroes are celebrated. Narrated by Zee-Jay, the ship's standout cruise director, the tribute lasted over half an hour, and I found myself tearing up multiple times. It’s a moment where the ship slows down to be truly present and remember what really matters—something the big, high-speed lines often miss.

Overall Editor Take

Margaritaville at Sea is the poetic, intentionally low-fi ship moment we didn't know we needed. The brand name might make you think of corporate licensing, but the reality is far more cool, singular and heartfelt—which is likely why the line has been a repeat Reader’s Choice Award winner across the industry. As Ivy explained to me, the goal was to ensure Jimmy’s music lives on forever in the atmosphere of the ship. "That’s why you see more lyrics in places than just a big picture," he shared. "It’s about the feelings of the songs."

The Islander isn't trying to compete with the high-tech "mega-thrills" of the newer contemporary ships that often require a complicated app just to grab a seat at dinner. Instead, it offers a Trop-Rock-fueled escape where the focus is on being present. It’s that solid, lived-in character that makes the ship feel refreshingly real rather than corporate and sterile. With balcony stateroom rates starting at $549 per person for a four-day sailing out of Tampa, it’s a high-value escape that makes me very excited for the third ship, the Beachcomber, launching in early 2027.

Twix’s New Bite-Sized Candy Is Finally Here—Where To Find It

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 8:31am

Twix is finally giving fans the new treat it teased over six months ago.

This past fall, the beloved Mars, Inc. chocolate brand revealed it had a new innovation up its sleeve, one that would change how Twix fans enjoy the classic "twin sticks" candy bars. And in the time since, fans have patiently awaited first sightings and an official company announcement revealing where the new Twix Bits would be sold.

Now, just as shoppers have started to spot the item on shelves at some stores, Parade can confirm these aren't just one-off, lucky, or early finds—the new bite-sized candy is rolling out at retailers nationwide. To celebrate, the brand is even offering a special sweepstakes with a grand prize of $2,000.

Twix Officially Drops New Bite-Sized Candy

Twix Bits are essentially the same candy bar Twix fans know and love, just in a poppable, bite-sized form, as Paradepreviously reported when the candy was first teased in September 2025.

Instead of the iconic set of “twin” candy bars made of a crispy shortbread cookie and dressed with creamy caramel and a chocolate coating, the new Twix Bits scale down the original significantly and transform them into a “crunchy bite-sized cookie center with caramel essence coated in chocolate,” according to an official description.

Twix Bits rollout nationwide.

Twix/Mars, Inc.

Where Will Twix Bits Be Available?

Twix Bits are now available in Share Size (2.83-ounce), Treating Size (4.4-ounce) and Sharing Size (8-ounce) packages at retailers nationwide, including Albertsons, CVS, Foodtown, Ralphs, Walmart (prices may vary).

The new candy format is joining Twix's retail line as a permanent option, not as a limited-time offer.

What's the Twix Bits Sweepstakes?

Twix is partnering with former professional basketball player and rapper, LiAngelo Ball, to "champion the unexpected two-ness hiding in all of us," according to Monday's press release.

Twix/Mars, Inc.

The limited-time sweepstakes gives fans a chance to win their own "Two-Way Contracts" and cash to fund their talents. To enter, fans will have to head to the official contest website and share "details of their two-ness" in 50 words or fewer to enter. For double the entries, post your two talents on Instagram or TikTok with the hashtag #TwixBitsSweepstakes and tag @TWIX.

Chipotle Just Fixed the Worst Part of Their Rewards Program — and Added Free Food

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 8:30am

The silver foil is staying. The guacamole still costs extra. But everything else about your Chipotle run just got a massive facelift.

Starting today, the burrito giant is launching Rewards on Repeat, and it’s a play for the hearts (and digital wallets) of the TikTok generation. Forget loyalty cards floating around the bottom of your bag. Chipotle is leaning into the fact that Gen Z is the most active demographic in the rewards game. They aren't just eating; they’re strategizing. As they should.

Monthly Free Food Drops Are Officially Back

The math is mathing: the brand says one in four diners will dump their fave lunch spot for a different one if the perks are better. That’s a wake up call for brands. To fight back, Chipotle is bringing back Freepotle: monthly drops of free food that don't require you to spend a dime first.

But the brand isn’t stopping there.

It’s offering more flexibility: the Choose Your Own Birthday Reward will allow customers to pick queso. Or chips. Or a drink. Another perk: No more rushing to a restaurant on your actual birthday just because an app told you to. Customers will have 30 days to claim their birthday gift.

No More Expiring Points: The Rules for Your Burrito Bank Just Changed

Nothing kills the vibe of a loyalty program like watching hard-earned points vanish because you went on a vacation. Chipotle fixed that. Points now stay active as long as you make one purchase a year.

They’ve also slashed the price of rewards. The new Rewards Exchange has lower point thresholds. Want 50% off an entrée? Done. Want to bundle a meal for your entire group? They’ve added that too.

How the New App Redesign and In-Store Staff Are Targeting Your Wallet

"Our Rewards platform now drives a significant portion of our sales and connects us with more than 21 million active members," Chipotle’s President and Chief Strategy and Technology Officer Curt Garner said in a statement. "With 'Rewards on Repeat,' we're delivering more rewards to all members, more often, and enhancing existing benefits."

Expect to see new menu panels, table tents, and messages on your receipt reminding you to sign up. Crew members will get incentives to get you on the app.

The Verdict: Is Joining the Redesigned Rewards Program Actually Worth It?

If you sign up today, you get free chips and guac with your first $5 purchase. It’s a bribe. A delicious, salty bribe. In a world where your grocery bill feels like a mortgage payment, a free side of queso feels like a win.

Chipotle doesn't want to be a rare treat, the aim is to be habit-forming. And with monthly food drops and points that last, they’re want it very hard to say no to a burrito.

Apart from the magazine’s April issue featuring the rock band, GekiRock’s clothing line also offers official Foo Fighters merchandise, from hoodies, shirts, caps to more.

In October 2025, the "Best of You" hitmakers completed their major concert in Japan, which marked their first headlining solo concert in 17 years.

The three-day performance was part of the band’s LIVE IN 2025 tour. Joining them on stage were notable local bands, including Otoboke Beaver and Maximum the Hormone as special guests.

During their sold-out concert in Saitama, Grohl expressed his admiration for Japanese bands including Boredoms, Shonen Knife, Guitar Wolf, The High-Lows and more.

“I wanna dedicate this one to all the bands from Japan that I really really love over the years,” he said, before giving a special shoutout to the bands whom he described as “f—-g awesome.”

As mentioned, the iconic band is in the middle of promoting their upcoming album Your Favorite Toy, with a scheduled release on April 24 under Roswell and RCA Records.

This marks their first album release in three years, as well as their first to feature new drummer Ilan Rubin.

Apart from the album launch, Foo Fighters are also on a back-to-back tour.

After kicking off the Take Cover Tour in Mexico this January, the band will head to Europe for a run from May to July, before launching their North American stadium tour from August to September.

Foo Fighters will be wrapping up their world tour in Australia and New Zealand in November.

New ‘Stardew Valley’ Mod Is a Total Game-Changer for One Overlooked Path

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 8:21am

For a decade, Stardew Valley has been the kind of game players return to again and again—like a favorite hiking trail where every turn is familiar, comforting… and maybe a little too predictable after the tenth trip.

Now, a brand-new mod is shaking up one of the game’s most overlooked choices in a way that feels genuinely transformative.

Released April 10 by Nexus user blue704, the “Joja Civic Center” mod completely reimagines the Joja route—an option many longtime players have historically avoided. In the base game, choosing Joja Mart means bypassing the beloved Community Center bundles and simply purchasing upgrades, a path that often feels more like spreadsheet management than storytelling, plus it means jumping into bed with the same greedy corporation you left behind in the big city.

Stardew Valley gameplay screenshot of the Joja Civic Center interior, featuring bundle rooms, a fish pond, and new areas added by the fan-made mod

Stardew Valley

This new mod flips that dynamic on its head.

Instead of leaving players with an empty warehouse and a lingering sense of “Did I just sell out Pelican Town?”, the Joja route now introduces a fully realized Civic Center—complete with seven bundle rooms, new rewards, and evolving storylines tied to the town’s residents.

In other words, it turns what was once the game’s most transactional path into something that actually feels fun and interesting.

A Familiar System, Reimagined Stardew Valley gameplay screenshot displaying Joja-themed artisan goods like jelly and roe created using new machines introduced in the Joja Civic Center mod

Stardew Valley

At its core, the mod preserves what players love most about the original Community Center: bundles.

But here, they’re woven into a completely new structure. Early bundles like farming and fishing unlock meaningful upgrades, while later ones bring in characters like Evelyn, Leah, and Clint with entirely new shop functions and gameplay perks.

It’s not just a reskin. It’s a well-designed, well-thoughtout expansion.

The difficulty hits a sweet spot too. The bundles aren’t punishing, but they do ask you to engage with parts of the game you might normally ignore, including an on-going treasure hunt storyline with Jas and Vincent, plus a plethora of new machines and items that stem from the Joja Mart.

A Different Kind of Joja Story Stardew Valley gameplay screenshot showing Vincent speaking during a treasure hunt event inside the Joja Civic Center mod, part of a new storyline with hidden bundles

Stardew Valley

Perhaps the most surprising shift is tonal.

In the base game, Joja Mart is painted as a blunt-force corporate villain. Here, Morris still represents that world—but he’s less mustache-twirling antagonist and more of an oddly motivated middle manager trying to improve things.

The result is a version of Pelican Town where the Joja path doesn’t feel hollow. It feels like an alternate reality worth exploring.

Beyond bundles, the mod adds entirely new layers to progression:

  • Joja-themed production machines for items like honey, jam, and roe
  • A reworked Vault system with mystery rewards
  • New areas, including a foraging clearing and fish farm expansion
  • Rotating shop inventories that make daily visits feel worthwhile

And then there’s the standout feature: a treasure hunt created by Jas and Vincent, sending players across the valley following clues and uncovering hidden bundles.

It’s the kind of addition that captures what developer Eric Barone originally designed the game to be—curious, exploratory, and quietly magical.

Why It Works

What makes this mod feel like such a breakthrough isn’t just the content—it’s the philosophy.

After years of playing the same loops, even the most devoted fans start to feel the edges of repetition. Mods often add content, but the best ones change how you think about the game.

This one does exactly that.

It takes a path many players ignored for years and turns it into something arguably just as compelling as the original Community Center route—maybe even more so for veterans looking for something new.

For a game that has sold over 50 million copies and continues to thrive nearly a decade later, that’s no small feat. And for anyone who thought they’d seen everything Stardew Valley had to offer, this might be the perfect excuse to start a new farm.

Best-Selling Author Shuts Down Identity Speculation With Firm Statement

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 8:17am

Best-selling author Freida McFadden isn't going anywhere—literally.

McFadden is setting the record straight after confirming that she uses a pen name for her popular books. In an interview with USA Today, she confirmed that her name is actually Sara Cohen.

Since then, questions about her identity started circulating online with many fans wondering if she'd start publishing under Sara Cohen. The Housemaid author has now confirmed that she has no plans to move away from her pen name, telling fans she will “definitely still be publishing” under the name readers already know—while downplaying the speculation as largely overblown.

"In answer to questions I've seen everywhere, I wanted to say that I will definitely still be publishing all my books as Freida McFadden. That is my author name and what I would prefer to be called in the author world and when anyone is talking about my work. (I'm looking at you, Wikipedia!)," she wrote on Facebook.

"There are countless authors who write under pen names for various reasons, and I am nothing special… simply one of many. With everything else going on in the world, I'm hoping we can quickly move past what I think is actually a pretty uninteresting piece of news," she added.

McFadden received an outpouring of support from her adoring fans, many of whom are simply happy to hear that she's going to keep writing, regardless of the name she uses.

"It was so uninteresting to me that I forgot what your actual name even is. You will always be Freida," one person wrote.

"Love your books! I’d read them under the name Princess Consuela Banana Hammock! Lol," someone else joked.

"You’ve always been our biggest mystery! It’s interesting because it’s a plot twist. The main character has a secret identity. You’re our mystery book version Hannah / Miley. We’re just excited. Keep writing!!" a third comment read.

"Keep writing" is the overall plan, of course, as McFadden is in her prime with the popularity of several of her recent releases. Her next book, The Divorce, is another psychological thriller set to hit shelves (and your Kindle) on May 26. In October, McFadden fans can delight in another release, The Witch.

The One Disney World Hotel Where You Can Still Get Mickey Waffles in Bed

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 8:10am

If your idea of the perfect way to spend a day involves waking up to a silver tray of Mickey waffles and hot coffee without having to brush your hair or brave a crowded food court, you might be in for a surprise on your next trip.

While in-room dining used to be a standard perk at every Disney Deluxe resort, the service has become the ultimate "extinct" amenity over the last few years. Following the pandemic-era closures, Disney utilized a phased reopening to lean heavily into high-tech, labor-saving alternatives like Mobile Order and Table Service To-Go. For most resorts, the logistical "magic" required to run a 24-hour private kitchen simply didn't fit the new digital-first model.

Today, if you want that classic white-tablecloth experience inside the "Disney bubble," there is officially only one Disney-owned and operated hotel left standing: Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

Related: Disney Is Bringing Back a Beloved Experience After Six Years

View this post on Instagram

It’s a fitting holdout for the resort’s flagship property, which has recently undergone a massive "refined-and-ready" glow-up. From the sophisticated new rooms inspired by Mary Poppins to the refreshed Victorian elegance of the lobby, the Grand Floridian is leaning hard into its role as the pinnacle of Disney luxury.

Their "Private Dining" service currently runs for both breakfast (7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.) and dinner (5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.). Beyond the iconic Mickey-shaped Waffles (which come served with your choice of bacon or sausage), the current 2026 menu is stacked with elevated comfort.

You can order a Miso-glazed Salmon with ginger-soy vinaigrette, a hearty Slow-braised Pork Shank, or the fan-favorite Grand Floridian Cafe Signature Burger, which comes topped with brie and bacon-pepper jam. If you're just looking for a late-night snack in your pajamas, they even offer Loaded Yuca Fries and House-made Plantain Bread that pair perfectly with a quiet night on your balcony.

Whether you’re returning late from the Magic Kingdom fireworks and craving a filet mignon or starting a slow morning with pancakes, it’s the last place where you can truly "stay in" while staying on property.

Now, if you’re doing your research, you’ll likely see three other names pop up: the Walt Disney World Swan, Dolphin, and Swan Reserve. While it’s true these three offer robust in-room dining via their own app, there’s a catch that often confuses guests.

Related: Why the Swan Reserve Is Currently the Smartest Stay at Walt Disney World

These are "Good Neighbor" hotels located on Disney property, but they are actually owned and operated by Marriott. Because they aren't Disney-owned, they set their own operational rules—which is why they’ve kept their room service intact while Disney-owned neighbors like the Contemporary or BoardWalk have transitioned to "Grab & Go" models.

For the purist who wants the full Disney-operated experience, the Grand Floridian remains the only choice right now. It’s a reminder that even in a world of mobile orders and lightning lanes, some traditions are worth preserving. So, if breakfast in bed is a non-negotiable for your vacation, you know exactly where to book. Just be sure to set the balcony doors open; there’s nothing quite like the sound of the monorail gliding by to go with your morning toast.

1960 Psychological Thriller Ranked Among 'Best Movies of All Time'

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 8:03am

Film audiences weren't prepared for the big-screen surprise that came with a film ranked as one of the "Best Movies of All Time" by Rotten Tomatoes.

In the movie theater's darkness, Alfred Hitchcock's psychological thrillerPsycho had a profound impact on audiences upon its 1960 release. Audiences were shocked by its suspenseful storytelling and groundbreaking twists, which helped redefine the thriller genre, cement its place in film history, and keep movie fans fearful of the shower for years to come.

The film's influence extended far beyond its initial release, reshaping audience expectations for horror and suspense in cinema. Over time, it has continued to earn critical acclaim and is frequently ranked among the greatest films ever made.

Rotten Tomatoes ranked Psycho at No. 46. It lands between another Hitchcock smash, 1959's North by Northwest, and the Italian film, 1948's Bicycle Thieves.

Psycho told the story of Marion Crane (Janet Leigh), a secretary who impulsively stole a large sum of money and went on the run in hopes of starting a new life. Her escape led her to a secluded roadside motel run by the quiet and unsettling Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins).

RELATED: A 1930s Classic Film Song is Now a Modern Viral Hit

What began as a tense crime drama quickly shifted into something far more disturbing as Marion’s fate took a shocking turn early in the film. From there, the narrative expanded into a deeper psychological mystery centered on the motel’s strange owner and the secrets tied to his past.

Hitchcock broke new ground with its bold storytelling choices, editing techniques, and unforgettable score. Over the decades, Psycho has remained a defining work of suspense cinema and is still widely regarded as one of the most influential films ever made.

The film's popularity entered a new generation with a 1998 remake of the original film by Gus Van Sant. The remake was intentionally designed to mirror the original black and white version, in color, including the dialogue and its most iconic scenes. The film starred Vince Vaughn as Norman Bates and Anne Heche as Marion Crane.

In 2013, the A&E series Bates Motel debuted. It would run for five seasons and serve as the film's prequel. It chronicled the twisted, intimate relationship between a teenage Norman Bates (Freddie Highmore) and his mother, Norma (Vera Farmiga).

More than six decades after its release, Psycho continued to resonate with audiences for its bold storytelling and chilling atmosphere. Its lasting impact on cinema secured its reputation as a true landmark in film history.

Rory McIlroy’s Heartfelt Shout-Out to Parents After Masters Win: ‘I Owe Everything to You’

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 7:57am

Rory McIlroy just won the Masters… for a second time. And who did the top pro golfer thank for his success? Well, of course, his family.

In a touching Green Jacket Ceremony speech, McIlroy gave a special shout-out to his wife Erica Stoll, five-year-old daughter Poppy McIlroy, and his parents, Gerry and Rosie McIlroy.

There’s plenty of superstition in sports. Fans wear the same jersey without washing it for weeks on end just to help their favorite team make it to the biggest game of the season, star football players forgo shaving until they look like mountain men, and apparently, Rory McIlroy’s parents think they need to steer clear of the Masters.

What did golfer Rory McIlroy say at the Masters ceremony?

The golfer explains, in his post-win Green Jacket Ceremony speech, that his mom and dad weren’t there to celebrate his first Masters win in 2025 because, in his words, “They thought the reason why I won was that they weren’t here.” And that meant it took some serious convincing to get them to come this year.

Luckily for the proud parents, they decided to attend the event. He continued, tears welling in his eyes, “I’m glad that we proved that wrong. Mom and Dad, I owe everything to you.” The superstar golfer stops for a moment as the crowd cheers. But this time the applause isn’t for Rory, it’s for the other McIlroys in attendance.

The two- time winner piles in the praise, “You’re the most wonderful parents. And if I can be half the parent to Poppy as you were to me, then I know I’ve done a good job. Thank you.”

How did Rory McIlroy's mom and dad support his golfing career?

McIlroy’s parents have supported their son’s sporting aspirations for decades. In a childhood interview (when he became the World Under-10 golf champion), he explained, “I chop air balls into my mom’s washing machine.

View this post on Instagram

In a 2022 interview published on The Open, McIlroy spoke candidly about his childhood, love of golf, and parents, Gerry and Rosie. “I was always fixated with it for a very long time from a very young age and it all started as my dad’s whole side of the family were golfers…My dad was a good amateur player, a scratch golfer, so it all just stemmed from there.”

McIlroy went on to add, “I was this little kid from Holywood, County Down, a town of 12,000 people. My parents were two very working-class people, and you know I’ve got to this point in my life just because I believed in myself and I had people around me that believed in me.”

What Your Family Loves Most About You, Based on Your Birth Date

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 7:49am

There’s almost no better feeling in the world than when you know you’re being entirely seen and appreciated fully by your nearest and dearest for the strengths, energy, and perspective you bring to the table. It’s one of the main reasons I wrote Raising Baby by the Stars: A New Parent’s Guide to Astrology, which aims to equip caregivers with celestial insight that can make it easier to better understand and celebrate the child in their lives. While some people might be adored by their relatives for always showing up as a bright, optimistic light, others might earn recognition for their leadership skills or ability to tackle endless everyday chores with aplomb.

Read on to find out what your loved ones enjoy the most about your energy, personality, and more, based on your birth date.

What Your Loved Ones Adore the Most About You, Based on Your Birth Date

Read on to learn what your family members cherish the most about you, based on the date you were born.

Born on the 1st, 10th, 19th, or 28th: Your Confident, Upbeat Disposition

You were born on a date associated with the sun, the luminary that oversees confidence, vitality, purpose, and self-image in astrology. In turn, you exude unparalleled self-assuredness and easily command the spotlight. Your family members appreciate how you’re perpetually capable of seeing even the trickiest situations as surmountable, given that you’re as positive as you are proactive. They also turn to you to feel empowered and appreciate how you model self-esteem and self-love.

Born on the 2nd, 11th, 20th, or 29th: Your Nurturing, Emotionally Intelligent Vibes

You were born on a day that’s connected to the moon, which oversees emotions, instincts, intuition, as well as how we care for others — and want to be cared for ourselves. You’re innately caregiving, warm, sentimental, and capable of not only identifying but holding space for your loved ones’ emotions, which leads them to feeling deeply loved and nurtured. They appreciate that you remember the little things — from memorable summer vacations to their favorite movie — and that you put in the time to keep up with heartfelt family traditions, like making sure you bake up that one beloved holiday treat every year.

RELATE?: These 4 Birth Months Make the Best Grandfathers

Born on the 3rd, 12th, 21st, or 30th: Your Optimism and Adventurous Nature

As someone whose birth date reduces down to three, a number ruled by Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system that is associated with abundance, fortune, joy, and expansion, you believe that going bigger is always better. You have an expansive, philosophical, wanderlust-fueled perspective, and you truly thrive when you’re soaking up knowledge and getting out of your comfort zone. Your loved ones applaud your eagerness to dive into uncharted territory, ability to turn everyday moments into a festive party, and your big picture ideas and wildly fun game plans. They can rest assured there will rarely be a dull moment when you’re around!

Born on the 4th, 13th, 22nd, or 31st: Your Dedication to Being Unapologetically Unique

Your birth date boils down to four, which is associated with Uranus, the planet of revolution, rebellion, sudden change, eccentricity, and electricity. You’re not someone who is interested in adhering to rules, regulations, traditions, or simply doing something because it has always been done that way. Your loved ones appreciate how you naturally come up with out-of-the-box plans, march to the beat of your own drum, and care deeply for your community and humanity as a whole. You might find that you inspire them to be more active in a cause close to their hearts or that they look to you as a role model when they’re striking out on their own or otherwise embracing unconventional paths.

Born on the 5th, 14th, or 23rd: Your Supercommunicator Skills and Off-the-Charts Cerebral Energy

If you were born on a day that reduces down to the number five, your numerological planetary ruler is Mercury, which oversees how we trade information, research, think, and tell stories. Your nearest and dearest love what an engaging storyteller and what a lively and informative controversialist you are. They also appreciate how capable you are — and how much you enjoy! — doing extensive research to find solutions for just about any challenge that arises.

Born on the 6th, 15th, or 24th: Your Eye for Beauty and Pleasure

If you celebrate your birthday on one of these dates, you’re working with the numerology of the number six, which is aligned with Venus, the planet of romance, relationships, beauty, music, art, and diplomacy. Your loved ones adore how supported they feel when they spend one-on-one time with you, because you are so partnership-oriented. They’re also big fans of how easy you find it to bring more peacefulness, beauty, and pleasure into any space or experience. Whether they need assistance with redecorating or reorganizing their kiddo’s nursery or they need a buddy for a spa day or quickie weekend getaway, they know that you’ll be their ideal companion.

OTHER: The Perfect Retirement for Your Birth Month

Born on the 7th, 16th, or 25th: Your Poetic, Spiritual Spirit That’s Intent on Healing Others

Your intuition, spirituality, and ability to heal and comfort others is off-the-charts, because your birth date reduces down to seven, a number aligned with Neptune, the planet of dreams, mysticism, and illusion. Your family appreciates your imaginative, artistic nature, huge heart, and capacity to hold space for some of life’s most challenging emotional experiences. If they’re going through a rough time financially or in a relationship, they know they can lean on you for emotionally intelligent words of wisdom and a warm hug.

Born on the 8th, 17th, or 26th: Your Pragmatic Industriousness and Old Soul

Because you were born on a date that reduces down to the number eight, you have an enviable work ethic, are responsible, mature, and dedicated to showing up for your loved ones time and again, because this birth date is associated with taskmaster Saturn. The taskmaster planet, which oversees wisdom, hard work, and boundaries, teaches us that setting limits and abiding by certain rules can be one of the most loving actions — especially within family dynamics. Your family members see you as an authority figure who has their feet solidly on the ground — someone they can trust, depend on, and look up to.

Born on the 9th, 18th, or 27th: Your Take-Charge, Go-Getter Vibes

If your birth date reduces down to nine, you’re courageous, vibrant, ambitious, laser-focused, passionate, and action-oriented above all else, because you were born on a day associated with Mars, the planet of action, energy, sex, and war. When your loved ones need something done and done fast — like packing up their home ahead of a move or snagging hard-to-get concert tickets — they know they can lean on you. They also appreciate your ability to offer straightforward, honest advice, because you make it a habit to be direct and to-the-point. And because Mars is so physical, you’re likely your relatives’ favorite workout buddy to boot.

Nancy Guthrie Update: Expert’s Statistical Analysis Points to Grim Outcome

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 7:48am

On a recent episode of The Interview Room, Dr. Gary Brucato offered his perspective on the ongoing Nancy Guthrie case. Brucato, who is known for analyzing criminal behavior patterns, says the statistics tied to similar missing persons cases suggest a grim outcome—one that could shape how investigators and the public view the case moving forward.

"My sense is, this woman passed away during whatever it is that was supposed to happen," Brucato said during the conversation, which included five other panel members (Chris McDonough, John Lamb, Bob Gilliam, Dan Stover, and Danny Ahrens). He also shared what the statistics in the case show. For example, the suspect (or suspects) is likely male, the motive was likely for financial gain, and the people behind Guthrie's disappearance probably knew her one way or another.

"Also based on statistics, I think it's safe to say that it's highly improbable that she is alive," he said. "And also based on statistics, I don't even believe there is an intact body. I do not believe that somewhere you're going to find her in one piece."

"In 2026, you eliminate as much of the body as you can because you know the science is going to catch you. So, what you generally do is you dismember, or you mutilate or you burn etc. ... I would be absolutely flabbergasted if it turns out there's an intact set of remains buried someplace or laying someplace," Brucato continued.

The rest of the panel agreed with Brucato and all six members believe that Guthrie is diseased. Moreover, the panel also agreed that Guthrie's body is not intact.

You can watch the full episode of The Interview Room below.

Guthrie, 84, has been missing since Sunday, Feb. 1. Investigators believe that she was abducted from her Arizona home in the middle of the night. Despite receiving thousands of tips, authorities have not named a suspect, nor have they been able to locate Guthrie. Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI (1-800-CALL-FBI).

Nicole Kidman's Shocking New Career Path Came From Her Mother's Loneliest Moments

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 7:44am

Nicole Kidman has never been one to sit still and watch life happen to her, but her latest pursuit has absolutely nothing to do with Hollywood — and everything to do with the kind of human connection that matters most when time runs out for all of us.

The 58-year-old actress recently revealed she's training to become a death doula, and the story behind that decision is profoundly moving.

Speaking at the University of San Francisco on April 11 during the school's speaker series with investigative journalist Vicky Nguyen, Kidman acknowledged that her announcement might sound out of left field. But then she explained exactly where the idea came from: watching her own mother, Janelle Ann Kidman, face loneliness during her final days in September 2024.

"Between my sister and I, we have so many children and our careers and our work," Kidman told attendees, describing the unbearable weight of wanting to be fully present for her dying mother while still managing everything else demanding her attention.

Her father passed away in 2014, making the situation even harder. In that moment watching her mother go through something so profound yet completely solitary, she realized something: she wished there were people who existed whose sole purpose was simply sitting with someone — calmly, without agenda, just being fully present.

That's exactly what death doulas do.

Nicole Kidman's Death Doula Training Addresses Gap She Witnessed Firsthand

Death doulas, also called end-of-life doulas, offer emotional, spiritual and practical support to dying individuals and their families. They don't provide medical care — they offer something quieter and more human: presence, advocacy and dignity.

For Kidman, learning this deeply intimate work became something she felt genuinely called to pursue.

Grief has shaped most of her past decade. After losing her father, psychologist Dr. Antony Kidman, in 2014, she then had to face the devastation of her mother's death while attending the Venice Film Festival for her film Babygirl. She departed immediately to be with family, and the film's director read a letter on her behalf during what would have been her best actress acceptance speech.

In that letter, Kidman wrote that she traveled to Venice only to learn "shortly after that my beautiful, brave mother, Janelle Ann Kidman, has just passed."

Afterward, she described her mother as a "compass" who had quietly guided her throughout so much of her life. She later admitted to waking up overwhelmed in the middle of the night, still trying to process the profound loss of both parents.

She's continued to honor her mother publicly. On what would have been her mother's 85th birthday in March 2025, she shared a photo of her parents together on Instagram, writing simply about missing them. A year later, she posted once again on the same date with the same quiet tenderness.

There's something very meaningful about someone with Kidman's platform deciding what she wants to do with her time and energy is learn how to sit with other people during their hardest moments in life. It emerged from real loss, a real gap she identified, and a deeply human wish that no one else's mother should feel quite so alone at the end.

Robotic Birds Are Headed to This National Park

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 7:26am

In a fascinating blend of conservation and technology, Grand Teton National Park is testing an unusual solution to a serious wildlife problem: robotic birds. These lifelike decoys are designed to help restore populations of the greater sage-grouse, a species that has been quietly disappearing across the American West.

Related: 5 Spots Where Retirees Can Enjoy the Best Bird Watching in the U.S.

The Sage-Grouse

The greater sage-grouse is one of North America’s most iconic and most vulnerable birds. Known for their elaborate mating rituals, male sage grouse gather each spring on open grounds called “leks,” where they puff up bright yellow air sacs on their chests, fan their spiky tails, and perform intricate dances to attract females. It’s one of the most unique wildlife spectacles in the United States.

But this remarkable bird is in trouble. Populations have plummeted dramatically over the past century due to habitat loss, development, and human activity. Today, the sagebrush ecosystems on which they depend are increasingly fragmented, leaving fewer safe places to breed and raise young.

SIGN UP for Parade’s Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox

That’s where the robotic birds come in.

Conservational Efforts

At Grand Teton, conservationists are using mechanical sage grouse decoys, some built by local students, to mimic the behavior of real males during mating season. These robotic birds puff their chests, perform courtship dances, and even play recorded mating calls starting at dawn. The goal is simple but powerful: attract real sage grouse to newly restored habitat and encourage them to breed there instead of in more dangerous areas.

This effort is especially important because of a unique challenge in the park: the presence of an airport within park boundaries. Birds have historically gathered near the runway, where they risk deadly collisions with aircraft. By luring them to safer, restored areas, the robotic decoys could help protect both wildlife and human safety.

It might sound like science fiction, but the idea is grounded in a real ecological challenge: even when habitats are restored, animals don’t always return on their own. These robotic birds essentially act as “social cues,” signaling to real grouse that a location is safe and suitable for breeding.

While the success of the project is still being monitored, it represents a creative shift in how we approach conservation and one that blends technology, community involvement, and ecological science.

How Visitors Can Help Protect Wildlife

Innovations like robotic birds are exciting, but conservation doesn’t stop with scientists and park staff. Visitors play a critical role in protecting species like the sage grouse.

If you’re visiting a national park, here are a few simple ways to help:

  • Keep your distance: Wildlife, especially during breeding season, is easily disturbed. Observing from afar ensures animals can carry out natural behaviors without stress.
  • Stay on designated trails: Straying off-trail can damage fragile habitats like sagebrush ecosystems, which take years to recover.
  • Visit responsibly during sensitive seasons: Early mornings in spring are critical for sage grouse mating displays. Avoid disrupting known lek areas if they’re marked or restricted.
  • Reduce noise: Loud sounds can scare animals away from breeding grounds, potentially disrupting reproduction.
  • Support conservation efforts: Whether through park donations, volunteering, or simply spreading awareness, small actions can make a big difference.
A New Era of Conservation

The use of robotic birds at Grand Teton signals a broader shift in conservation thinking that embraces innovation to solve complex environmental problems. As wildlife faces increasing pressure from human activity and climate change, creative solutions like this may become more common.

For the sage grouse, a bird known for its ancient and intricate mating dance, a little help from modern technology might be exactly what it needs to survive.

Star Trek Legend Weighs in on AI: 'Evolve or Die'

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 7:15am

For over seven years on Star Trek: Voyager, Tim Russ portrayed the Vulcan Commander Tuvok, a character defined by cold, hard logic. Today, Russ is applying that same Vulcan pragmatism to a topic that has Hollywood (and the rest of the world on edge: the rise of Artificial Intelligence.

In a candid new interview with Trek Culture, Russ bypassed the usual industry hand-wringing to deliver a sobering reality check. For Russ, the debate over whether AI 'should' be used is already over. 'That technology is out of the box, and it’s on its way, and there’s no stopping it,' Russ says. 'The nature of the kind of work that I do may change very dramatically, and it may change before the end of this year.'

Adapting to the New Frontier

Russ draws a parallel between AI and the industry’s shift from film to digital cameras. While some purists resisted the change, digital eventually democratized filmmaking, allowing anyone with an iPhone to become a creator. He views AI as the next inevitable step in that evolution.

In fact, the veteran Star Trek actor and director isn't just watching from the sidelines. He’s actively integrating these tools into his own workflow. Russ revealed he is currently using AI to animate a new project and produce a 'sizzle reel' for a feature film pitch. 'I’m using that technology myself in little bits and pieces for specific things,' he notes, citing the massive cost savings over traditional animation. 'You either evolve and adapt, or you perish. That’s how it works.'

Related: 'Star Trek' Legend Offered 'Klingon School' to 2026 Cast

The 'Arms Race' of Truth

However, Russ isn't blind to the 'nefarious' potential of the tech. He warns of an impending 'arms race' in software to both create and identify authentic content. His biggest concern lies in the world of deepfakes and digital defamation. 'You can create something that makes someone look like they may have done something illegal when in fact they never did,' he warns. 'We don't live in a world where we can take things on faith anymore.'

The Human Advantage

Despite the 'unease and trepidation' felt by his peers, Russ believes there is one area where humans still hold the high ground, the soul of the story. While AI can process data and render images in seconds, it lacks the lived experience required for true originality.

'There's no accounting for the creative ability or the storytelling ability. That is still mostly human,' Russ says. 'AI is not going to come up with an original concept. You have to come up with the story...before it can do what it does.'

For a man who spent years exploring the final frontier, Russ’s outlook on our digital future is clear. The tools are changing, but the human need to tell a great story remains the logic that will give us the infinite diversity in infinite combinations that makes great entertainment. (Yes, I had to work IDIC in there somewhere).

1957 Jukebox Classic Became a No. 1 Hit 69 Years Ago Today

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 7:13am

Exactly 69 years ago, Elvis Presley scored a No. 1 hit with hit 1957 classic, "All Shook Up."

Just three weeks after its release, "All Shook Up" soared to the top of the Billboard charts on April 13, 1957, becoming his sixth song to do so at the time. The King of Rock and Roll would go on to have a career total of 17 No. 1 hits.

"All Shook Up," is considered a No. 1 Hot 100 hit, though it technically predated the famous hart. Instead, the Elvis track rose to No. 1 on the Best Sellers in Stores chart, the "key predecessor" for the Hot 100, according to Billboard.

On April 13, 1957, "All Shook Up" landed at No. 1 on the Best Sellers in Stores chart, which Billboard retired in 1958. It remained on top for 8 weeks, while also serving a nine-week reign at the top of the Jukebox Hits chart, which has also since been retired.

It was also ranked at #3 on Parade's list of the Top 20 Best Elvis Songs Ever, published in 2022.

Babe, wake up, a new 2026 cybersecurity audit just dropped. Turns out your state government might be leaving the door wide open for hackers. It’s a $16.6 billion crisis where your Social Security number and bank details might be treated like public property.

The data shows that while states are building fortresses, others haven't yet put up a "Keep Out" sign. Nevada is currently the most dangerous spot in America for your data, but it isn't the only place where you’re flying solo.

The States with No Digital Privacy Legislation in 2026

The biggest red flag for residents in Nevada, Florida, and Wyoming is a flat 0.0 score on data protection laws. “The gap between Nevada and California in this study comes down largely to legislation,” says Aimen Hallou, Chief Technology Officer at Floxy. “States without privacy laws on the books are essentially leaving residents to absorb that damage without any structural protection. A strong legal framework doesn't guarantee safety, but the absence of one makes things measurably worse.”

These states have virtually no legislation on the books to guard its citizen’s private info. If a company leaks personal data in Las Vegas or Miami, residents are often left to absorb that damage without any guardrails from the government. In Nevada, the problem is critical. One in 200 residents is already a victim of cybercrime. The state is losing $8.09 million for every 100,000 people because the study claims aren't enough legal safety nets in place.

Deepfakes and Scams: The High-Risk Zones

Alaska sits at #3 because of a knowledge gap, scoring a 3 out of 5 on digital literacy. Which makes residents a target for deepfakes and voice-cloning scams. Hackers know this, hitting the state with 578 fraud incidents per 100,000 residents.

Washington, the home of Amazon and Microsoft is typically thought be a hub for digital awareness. Not quite. The state ranks as the most digitally vulnerable state in the report because of its low digital and AI literacy scores relative to how much time residents spend online. They score a 54 on the digital vulnerability score, meaning they are tech savvy but can still fall prey to a deepfake or a phishing script.

The Hidden Risks of Living in States With Strong Data Laws

California has the strongest data laws in the top ten with a 9.4/10. Yet, it’s still at #5. Why? Because that’s where the wealth is. Hackers steal $2.5 billion from Californians every year. The difference is that California residents have a legal shield to fight back once the damage is done.

In Delaware and Maryland, the issue is volume. Marylanders are hit with identity theft at a rate of 1,044 per 100,000 people. Even with laws on the books, the frequency of the attacks means a hacker is always getting through.

How to Protect Your Identity in a High-Risk State

The sophistication of these attacks is rising. But as Hallou points out, if you can’t recognize a phishing link or a fake login page, the hackers don't have to work very hard. For those living in a zero score state, you are your own first responder. It’s time to double-check your passwords, and your state’s privacy policies.

'Wait, What Do I Actually Do With a Butler?' A First-Timer’s Guide to Surviving Suite Life

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 7:10am

You’ve finally splurged on that Yacht Club or Haven experience. You’ve walked into your room, admired the balcony, and then it happens: You find yourself staring at a very impeccably dressed person and thinking, "Wait, what am I actually supposed to do with a butler?"

You aren't alone. On Reddit, a now-viral thread has become the ultimate support group for people who feel just a little too guilty to be pampered. While most of us are happy just to have someone else make the bed, the internet's suggestions for first-time suite guests range from the hilariously specific to the "wait, they can do that?" ridiculous.

  • The "Town Crier": One user joked about having their escort clear a path through the Lido deck: "Have the butler walk in front of you as you go through the ship, shouting: 'Make way for Mr. PHK-FL! Clear the way! Ahoy there!'"
  • The Batman Reference: Another leaned into the Bruce Wayne lifestyle: "Insist on calling him Alfred, make sure he hangs up your suit, ask for nightly stories about your parents who passed away when you were young, make sure he tidies up the cave… you know, the usual stuff."
  • The "Duh" Response: Another simply suggested the most obvious—if rarely used—verb: "Buttle."

Of course, if you really wanted to lean into the energy, you could always appoint your butler as your personal "Pillow Fort Concierge" or a "Diet Coke Sommelier" to help you decide which soda pairs best with a sunset—though we suspect they’d prefer to use their real expertise to help you with something much more complex.

"I’d Rather Walk the Plank"

One of the most debated butler perks is the offer to unpack your suitcases. While some people love the idea of appearing at dinner in a perfectly steamed outfit without lifting a finger, others find the thought of a stranger handling their laundry deeply unsettling.

On the r/Cruise thread, one user confessed: "Oh god, I saw a scene once where a guest asked for an unpack and then just sat on the bed making intense personal conversation while the steward handled their underwear. I’d rather walk the plank."

If the idea of someone touching your unmentionables makes you break out in hives, a simple "Thank you, but I’m a bit particular about my organization" is all you need.

What They Can Actually Do (That You Didn’t Realize)

A cruise butler is part concierge and part luxury project manager. Here are a few things they handle that will save you hours of vacation stress:

  • The "Impossible" Reservation: Can’t get into Jacques or Red Ginger when you want? "Ask your butler. They have internal pull and can move things around."
  • The Balcony Rituals: If you’re in your room, you likely want to be on the balcony. Cruisers recommend using them to "organize OJ, coffee and a pastry every morning I can have on my balcony" or to "arrange afternoon tea for me on my balcony."
  • The In-Suite Feast: If you're wiped out after a long excursion, skip the restaurant. Users suggest having "specialty dining delivered to your room after a long excursion day rather than having to go to the restaurant."
  • The Logistic Legend: From picking up early tender tickets to rebooking canceled excursions, the butler saves you from waiting in long lines at guest services. As one user pointed out, "the butler handled getting us booked on a new one by calling the excursion desk. This saved us from waiting in a long line at the desk."
  • The Party Planner: Making friends on board? One cruiser shared: "Friends of mine asked their butler to set up a party for friends they had made one evening—drinks and hors d'oeuvres. That sounded really fun."
  • Wardrobe Rescue: Need a dress steamed for "Chic Night"? Hand it over. They’ll have it back and hanging in your closet before cocktail hour.
The Etiquette: To Tip or Not to Tip?

This is the No. 1 question in every thread. While many cruise lines say "gratuities are included," the general consensus among suite guests is that the butler (and the concierge) are usually not part of that automatic daily pool.

The rule of thumb? $10 to $20 per person, per day is a solid baseline for good service. Most people prefer to hand over a thank-you note with cash on the final night.
