Costco's New Patio Set Is Turning Heads for Its Modern, High-End Look

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 4:25pm

Costco is getting shoppers' attention again, but this time it is not for pantry staples or seasonal food finds. Instead, a new outdoor furniture set at Costco is drawing attention for its upscale design and noticeably modern look that feels more like a boutique showroom than a warehouse floor.

The Henredon Annalise 4-Piece Deep Seating Swivel Set is priced at $1,899.99 in the warehouse and has been showing up in online discussions for its mix of modern style and functionality.

A Modern Costco Patio Set View this post on Instagram

The set, shown by @costcohotfinds, includes one sofa, two swivel chairs and a coffee table, all finished in an all-weather, hand-woven resin wicker in a deep black tone. The look is further elevated by rope-style detailing and thick cushions, giving it a more substantial, well-designed feel than many typical outdoor sets at this price point.

One of the biggest talking points about this Costco patio set is the swivel feature on the chairs, which allows 360-degree rotation. Shoppers say it makes outdoor conversations feel more natural since it is easier to turn and engage without shifting the entire chair. The seating itself is described as deep and plush, giving it a lounge-like feel closer to indoor furniture than traditional patio seating.

It's Built to Last

The materials are also a major part of the appeal. Costco highlights rust-resistant powder-coated aluminum frames along with Sunbrella fabric cushions designed to resist stains, fading, mildew and moisture. The fabric is known for holding up in outdoor conditions and is often used in higher-end patio furniture, which helps explain why some shoppers feel the set leans more premium.

Still, reactions are not entirely one-sided. While many Costco shoppers appreciate the design and sturdiness, others have noted that the price feels high compared to other Costco patio options or smaller sets better suited to more casual use. A few reviewers also mentioned comfort adjustments, noting that some cushions may need time to break in or that the included protective cover may not hold up well in windy conditions.

Even so, several shoppers say they are happy with the overall quality and describe the set as sturdy and visually impressive once set up. Some also mention building out their outdoor space with additional inexpensive chairs or accessories to balance out cost and seating capacity. Others suggest adding simple touches, like cozy lights from Costco's string light pole sets, to create a more inviting backyard atmosphere around the furniture.

Gavin Rossdale Leaves Fans 'Stunned' With A Cappella Version of Classic 1995 Bush Hit : 'Beautiful'

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 4:08pm

Gavin Rossdale is bearing it all. The Bush frontman is leaving fans in awe after a recent intimate performance of the band’s 1995 hit "Glycerine." Bush performed the song as part of NPR’s Tiny Desk concert series, leaving fans longing for the ‘90s while celebrating Rossdale’s "beautiful" voice.

Thirty-two years after the release of the band’s most popular album Sixteen Stone, Bush delivered a powerful and emotional performance as part of NPR’s Tiny Desk series. Performing hits like "Machinehead" from Sixteen Stone and "Out of This World" from 2001’s Golden State, the band offered quieter, slower arrangements of some of the biggest hits of the ‘90s and early 2000s.

"Glycerine" Performance Sparks Nostalgia

Rossdale’s melodic performance of "Glycerine," at one point completely without instrumental accompaniment, stands out, leaving fans longing for a return to the mid-1990s and the music that defined the era.

"This just made me cry a little - thinking of a time we will never see again. Simple, fun and full of such amazing music," commented one nostalgic fan.

"it's 1994....and im in my bedroom feeling a little less alone for only a moment."

"Just like that I’m 17 again…" lamented another. "I’d give anything for one more carefree day in the 90’s."

"He sounds incredible," gushed another, echoing the sentiments of many.

Why "Glycerine" Still Resonates

There’s a reason Rossdale’s acoustic rendition of "Glycerine" resonates so strongly with fans. Despite the minimalist production on the Tiny Desk version of the song, "Glycerine" still connects deeply. It was always built on simplicity and emotion, highlighting Rossdale’s voice and songwriting.

A Timeless Sound That Still Connects

The minimal instrumentation puts Rossdale’s gritty, emotive voice on full display. "Glycerine" has always captured angst while creating intimacy with the listener. With just Rossdale’s guitar accompanying his vocals, the performance highlights his ability to draw listeners in and transport them back in time.

One of the longest-enduring post-grunge bands, Bush has consistently created melodic hooks that make their alternative sound accessible to a pop audience. Known for one radio-friendly hit after another, Bush dominated the ‘90s charts. Thirty-six years later, with nothing more than an electric guitar and a vocal performance, Gavin Rossdale and Bush prove that while the simplicity of the ‘90s may be long gone, the music was built to last and is here to stay.

Home organization has become more than just a trend—it's a necessity for modern living. As households accumulate seasonal décor, tools and everyday essentials, finding efficient storage solutions is key to maintaining a clean and functional space. From garages to basements and utility rooms, maximizing vertical storage is one of the most effective ways to reduce clutter while keeping items easily accessible.

One of the biggest challenges homeowners face is dealing with bulky storage bins. Traditional stacking methods often lead to frustration, requiring you to unstack multiple containers just to reach the one you need. This not only wastes time but can also create safety concerns. That's why innovative storage systems that prioritize accessibility, durability, and smart design are gaining popularity.

This 'One Life to Live' Icon Debuted in 1979—47 Years Ago Today

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 3:44pm

On this day in 1979, Robin Stasser made her debut as Dr. Dorian Lord on the ABC soap opera One Life to Live.

Stasser was hand selected by series creator Agnes Nixon for the part after having previously worked together on Another World, where the two created the iconic role of Rachel Davis in 1967.

At the time of Strasser’s debut, One Life to Live had been on the air for 11 years. The role of Dorian had previously been played by Nancy Pinkerton and Claire Malis, with Dixie Carter temporarily stepping in during Pinkerton’s maternity leave.

The character of Dorian was created as a foil to leading heroine Viki Lord (Erika Slezak). Strasser’s on-screen dynamic with Slezak became a defining element of the series, with their combative chemistry resonating strongly with viewers.

Over the decades, Dorian’s storylines kept viewers invested, often centering on her complicated family relationships and her loyalty to the Cramer women.

During her time on the show, Dorian was married multiple times, including to five men and one woman. Her relationship with Herb Callison and David Vickers Buchanan proved especially popular with fans.

In later storylines, Dorian entered the world of politics, becoming mayor of Llanview in 2009 and later serving as a U.S. senator in 2011.

Strasser remained with One Life to Live until her first exit in 1987. She returned for another stint in 1993 before departing again in 2000.

The actress came back once more in 2003 and stayed with the series until its cancellation in 2011. She later reprised the role briefly for the show’s online reboot in 2003.

Strasser’s other daytime credits include her debut role on The Secret Storm in 1964, as well as roles on All My Children and Passions.

Alex Cooper Calls Out Alix Earle in New Video: 'I Know What Happened, and So Do You'

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 3:40pm

Alex Cooper has finally confirmed her rumored feud with Alix Earle.

On Monday, Apr. 13, the Call Her Daddy podcast host called out the influencer for her "passive aggressive" behavior towards her, which allegedly includes reposting and liking content critical of Cooper on social media platforms.

"You guys know I don't usually address this kind of stuff because it feels like a waste of time, and honestly, it's embarrassing to participate in this," Cooper began her TikTok video. "But I am obviously seeing the videos, I'm getting tagged, I see the DMs, I see the comments. So, at this point, it just feels long overdue."

"Alix Earle? Hey, girl," she continued. "The passive aggressive reposts, and the likes, and the commenting on things.
I gotta call you out here. You're gonna need to get specific and just say what you gotta say about me. There's no NDA, no one is stopping you.
Stop hiding behind other people and just say it yourself."

"What's the beef? Because I'm really tired of waking up and seeing you using this fake drama to distract from other s--t going online for you," she concluded. "Not interested. I know what happened, and so do you. So talk. Unless the fake narrative that you're creating happens to be way more interesting than the truth. I have nothing to hide when it comes to you and me. So unless you actually have something to say, I'm out.
This is over."

In the comment section, Earle wrote, “OK on it!!”

Rumors of a feud between Cooper and Earle began in March 2025 after Earle's podcast Hot Mess exited Unwell, a media network founded by Cooper.

That month, Cooper addressed Earle’s exit in a TikTok post, writing, “Alix not being able to podcast has nothing to do with Unwell. Idk why she can’t/what’s going on. Unwell gave her everything back she owns her IP.”

In May 2025, when asked about the end of her relationship with Unwell by the Wall Street Journal, Earle replied, “That was, behind the scenes, a little bit of a hot mess.”

Earle also reignited the feud rumors earlier this week when she reposted a TikTok video likening the podcast host to an "ambulance chaser."

"You just had the most horrific accident of your life. You're hanging on by a thread. Don't know if you're gonna make it, and she's the first one there," the TikTok user said in reference to Cooper. "She's a grim reaper. She wants to get the exclusive interview.
She wants to be there when you're vulnerable, and you're broken down, and you're ready to sign over your rights to your life. She is so awful."

Others are adding the shirt straight into their carts without hesitation, calling it an easy buy thanks to the low price and versatile design. There is also growing nostalgia for past Costco-branded items like logo buckets and crewneck sweatshirts, which have developed cult followings of their own.

Part of the appeal is the blend of practicality and humor. Costco's branded apparel is affordable, often priced well under $20, and comfortable enough for everyday wear. At the same time, it carries a tongue-in-cheek fashion statement that resonates with shoppers who enjoy casual style moments. For many shoppers, that combination of comfort, price and playful branding is exactly what makes Costco's apparel drops so irresistible.

If past releases are any indication, these $9.99 tees may not stay in stock for long.

2010s Rocker Departs Band to ‘Prolong Health’

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 3:14pm

"There comes a point in your life where you pick YOU!" former drummer Eric Morotti started off his statement.

The drummer of the rock band Suffocation announced on Friday that he will be departing the band, revealing his decision on his 34th birthday. According to his statement, Morotti claimed that his old group was "toxic" and filled with "abusive drug addicts."

"I have chosen to step away from @suffocationofficial to prolong my health, myself. My integrity," he wrote. "I will not work with toxic. Abusive drug addicts. Let alone allow them to boss me around. I’ve been belittled and stepped all over for too long."

Morotti then praised his current group, Sanguisugabogg, which he joined this year.

"That being said. I’ve been having an absolute BLAST with @sanguisugaboggband and have been shown what it’s like to be part of real FAMILY. no egos, no power trips. Just bros that love music and being together," he continued. The group has been on tour around the United States with Lamb of God since last month.

View this post on Instagram

On Monday though, Suffocation responded to Morotti's announcement, saying that many of the claims were "false" and that they kicked him out via email.

"Last week, the decision was made by Suffocation to part ways with Eric Morotti due to his conflicting schedule with Sanguisaugabogg, which affected Suffocation's schedule for the year," they wrote. "It is unfortunate that Eric decided to falsify claims and take this to a negative place, forcing us to make this statement."

View this post on Instagram

Suffocation formed in 1989 in Long Island, New York, by Frank Mullen, Guy Marchais, Todd German and Josh Barohn. The metal rock group stayed together for nine years before disbanding in 1998. In 2003, they reunited and have since released six studio albums. Morotti joined Suffocation in 2016 as their drummer.

Suffocation is currently preparing for a Spring North America Tour and various festival appearances. The string of concerts is set to start in Wilmington, Delaware, on April 26 at The Queen, and conclude a month later in Indianapolis. They are also set to open for Cradle of Faith throughout the month of May.

For now, John Longstreth of Origin will be joining Suffocation as a guest drummer until they find a permanent replacement for Morotti. Their current members are Terrance Hobbs, Derek Boyer, Charlie Errigo and Ricky Myers.

Tickets for Suffocation's upcoming tour can be found on their official website.

1954 Film Ranked Among 'Best Movies of All Time' Still Holds a Perfect Rating

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 3:09pm

Released in 1954, this three-hour, 37-minute black-and-white film has no CGI, no sequels and no franchise behind it. Even so, Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai sits at No. 2 on Rotten Tomatoes with a perfect score.

And the praise extends well beyond audiences. Even Steven Spielberg has gone on record crediting Kurosawa's films with shaping him as a director, placing the Japanese classic among his 20 personal favorites.

"All the time I spent with Kurosawa's films have done so much to inspire me to be a better filmmaker," the acclaimed director once said

The film, starring Toshiro Mifune, follows a desperate village struggling to protect itself from a band of 40 ruthless bandits. With no other options, the villagers hire a group of samurai to train them in the art of combat.

Much of what makes Seven Samurai work comes down to Kurosawa himself. He was among the first directors to use multiple cameras and telephoto lenses simultaneously — an approach that changed how action sequences could be filmed.

That technique made for a fast-paced movie that never lags, and audiences around the globe loved it. The film won the Silver Lion at the Venice Film Festival, earned two Academy Award nominations and became the highest-grossing film in Japan at the time.

Beyond its awards, the film is often credited with shaping the “assembling the team” narrative — the structure of recruiting individuals with distinct skills for a shared goal. Its influence is hard to miss in films like Ocean’s Eleven and even The Avengers

Kurosawa also understood what weather could do to a scene. The film's rain-soaked finale went on to inspire some of cinema’s most memorable battle sequences, including those in The Matrix Revolutions and The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.

But for Kurosawa, the innovations in Seven Samurai were about more than one film. He saw technology as essential to keeping Japanese cinema relevant.

"Technological advances are a vitally important aspect of the motion picture industry," he told the New York Times in 1981, warning that without investment, Japanese studios had little hope of competing with Hollywood or television.

After Seven Samurai, Kurosawa went on to direct Yojimbo, High and Low, Kagemusha and Ran, among others, working on new projects right up until his death in 1998.

While critics often called his films “profoundly humanistic,” Kurosawa stayed humble about his achievements.

“I just make up stories and film them,” he said in 1985. “When I am lucky,” he added, “the stories have a lifelike quality that makes them appealing to people, and the film is successful.”

1988 Hit Film Ranked 'Greatest Action Thriller' of All Time

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 3:05pm

Since its release in 1988, Die Hardhas been continuously considered one of the best action films.

For instance, the publication Collider recently ranked Die Hard as the "Best Action Thriller Masterpiece of All Time." The other 20 beloved action films on the list included 1991's Point Break, Dirty Harry from 1971, 1986's Aliens, The Bourne Ultimatum from 2007, 1993's The Fugitive, The Dark Knight from 2008, 1994's Speed, and Terminator 2: Judgment Day, released in 1991.

Collider reported that Die Hard, which spawned five sequels, took home the number one spot because it has captured audiences for nearly four decades.

The Screenwriter of 'Die Hard' Explained Why He Crafted a Relatable Action Hero

Die Hard's thrilling scenes are one reason the film remains so beloved. However, fans of the movie and its subsequent sequels also enjoy rooting for Detective John McClane, played by Bruce Willis. In a 2015 interview at the Austin Film Festival, the film's screenwriter, Jeb Stuart, explained he purposefully created a very human character, who audiences can easily empathize with. He said what he learned while studying at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Stanford University enabled him to write a successful script, regardless of the genre.

"I had a lot of training that I just kind of pulled over into the action world. How to create a scene, how to develop characters, how to make an audience worry about a particular character, even when he's about to jump off a building or, you know, get run down by a train or something like that, something crazy," explained the writer in the 2015 interview. "If you don't care for him, you're not going to follow him. And I think that's the world that I came out of academically and had the good fortune to have the ability to talk to writers."

He also said that he was drawn to the action genre in terms of screenwriting, as he knew it was lucrative.

"That's where the money was for me and I needed to get out of debt," quipped The Fugitive co-writer, now 70.

Aldi's 3-Piece Floral Quilt Set Is Serving Regal Romance Energy in the Loveliest Way

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 3:05pm

Not to totally fangirl over Aldi or anything, but how is that chain just so good at what they do? I always wonder why, say, Trader Joe's doesn't try to replicate something like the Aldi Finds aisle, but maybe it's just because Aldi is so darn good at seeking out these fun, affordable finds, its competitors aren't about to bother.

Case in point: Every time I think that Aldi has already stocked all of the pretty, comfy bedding it could possibly find, the next drop has even more. It's a gift, really—a gift that keeps on giving. And now there's a new quilt set in town.

Kirkton House Queen Green Floral Reversible Quilt Set, $34.99 at Aldi

Aldi

Aldi's Kirkton House Green Floral Reversible Quilt Set comes in both queen and king sizes, each for just $34.99. The quilt is a lightweight piece that's perfect for layering or for use on its own when warmer nights call for something breathable and not too heavy. The pretty, sage-green colorway has an almost vintage-tinged quality, with a delicate white floral pattern that adds a touch of elegance throughout.

And you don't have to worry about finding a matching set of shams to purchase separately—the quilt comes with two, so that your bed will look perfectly styled without any extra effort.

If green isn't your thing, Aldi is also selling the exact same set (in king and queen sizes) in a lovely brown colorway, too. Perfect if your bedroom's color palette leans towards warmer neutrals.

Want to outfit your bed with this set in a more layered way? It's all about balance.

Let the pattern shine without overwhelming the space. Start with crisp, neutral sheets (white or soft cream always works) to give your eye a place to rest. Layer the quilt neatly, either folded at the foot or pulled all the way up for a more polished look. Use the matching shams as your anchor, then add one or two complementary throw pillows in solids or subtle textures to break things up. For extra coziness, drape a lightweight throw across the corner. It should feel inviting, not overly styled. You're not aiming for a four-page spread in Architectural Digest, just a sweet sanctuary to rest your head.

Who Won ‘Jeopardy’ Today? (April 13, 2026) Plus, the Final Jeopardy Answer

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 3:00pm

There are three things guaranteed in the world today: Death, taxes, and Jeopardy! being on. Believe it or not, the iconic game show has been on the air for over 60 years (though the modern incarnation we know and love technically debuted in 1984). Under the watchful eye of Ken Jennings (who himself was a record-breaking champion), Jeopardy! puts three people's trivia skills and reflexes to the ultimate test. And so many of the greats to grace those podiums started by simply watching the show as it aired on weekdays, as millions have done for over half a century.

Here's a spoiler-filled recap of who won Jeopardy! today, plus the answer to Final Jeopardy.

Who won Jeopardy today?Jamie Ding

Continuing to dominate Jeopardy! with his impressive gameplay, Jamie Ding won his 22nd consecutive game, bringing his total winnings to $627,600

Who are the Jeopardy contestants today?Catherine Hoffman

Catherine Hoffmanis a children's librarian from Clarkston, Michigan.

Erik Bubolz

Erik Bubolz is an attorney originally from Okemos, Michigan.

Jamie Ding

JamieDing extended his remarkable winning streak to 22 games during what was an all-Michigan affair. Though the bureaucrat and law student now calls Lawrenceville, New Jersey, home, he grew up in the Detroit metro area, making all three contestants Michigan natives.

As for his gameplay, despite missing Final Jeopardy, he built such a commanding lead throughout the game that he still cruised to the win with a final score of $18,600. The highlight of his game was a near-sweep of the high-value $2,000 clues in Double Jeopardy, as he picked up five of the six.

Going into the episode, Ding sat just $14,612 behindMatt Jackson for 13th on the all-time winnings list and needed only one more correct response to pass Cris Pannullo for 9th on the all-time correct responses list, per the Jeopardy! Leaderboard of Legends.

What was Final Jeopardy today?

Final Jeopardy today was in the category "Country Names."

The clue:  "In the 1850s it was part of the Granadine Confederation; today it's named for a man who never set foot in the country."

The answer:  What is Colombia?

The clue blended historical geography with a fun bit of trivia, stumping two of three contestants, including Ding.

Ding wagered aggressively with $16,200, and had he been correct, he would have finished with $51,000. But even with the miss, his pre-Final Jeopardy lead was so large that he still won comfortably. Hoffman was the sole player to get it right, wagering $4,000 to end up with $8,400. Bubolz got it wrong, wagering nearly all of what he had going in, $7,199 of $7,200, with a final score of $1.

Ding will be back tomorrow to go for win number 23.

‘The Wizard of Oz’ Star Valerie Lee Dead at 94

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 2:59pm

Valerie Lee, an actress who was one of the last surviving Wizard of Oz cast members, has died. She was 94.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Stephen Cox—the author of the 1996 book The Munchkins of Oz—announced that Lee died on Sunday, April 12, in the Reseda neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Lee was best known as one of the child actors who portrayed the Munchkins in The Wizard of Oz. Prior to her death, she was one of the last surviving cast members of the 1939 classic film. Priscilla Montgomery Clark, who also played a Munchkin in the movie, is still alive and now 96 years old, according to Cox.

Lee was born Valerie Shepard in Los Angeles on Dec. 14, 1931. As a child, she and several of her Bud Murray Dance School cohorts were cast as Munchkins in The Wizard of Oz. Lee celebrated her 7th birthday while shooting on the MGM lot in Culver City, California. In her uncredited film debut, she danced alongside her fellow Munchkins in a scene with Judy Garland’s Dorothy in Munchkinland.

After The Wizard of Oz, Lee went on to appear in multiple Our Gang comedy shorts: 1939’s Time Out for Lessons, 1941’s Ye Olde Minstrels, 1942’s Doin’ Their Bit, 1943’s Benjamin Franklin, Jr., 1943’s Election Daze and 1944’s Dancing Romeo.

Though the Our Gang shorts were Lee’s only other acting credits beyond The Wizard of Oz, she appeared onscreen again decades later in the 2024 TV documentary Mysteries of Oz: 85 Questions Answered.

Lee was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Haynes, to whom she was married from 1949 to 2002. The couple shared three children: Elise, Sharon and Larry.

Just days before Lee’s death, Caren Marsh Doll—who is known for her role as Garland’s stand-in for The Wizard of Ozcelebrated her 107th birthday on April 6. Marsh Doll’s legs and feet can be seen in the famous scene where Dorothy clicks her heels together to return home to Kansas. She was 19 at the time of filming.

On the occasion of Marsh Doll’s birthday, she was one of only three individuals who worked on The Wizard of Oz who was still living. The other two were Lee and Clark.

Nearly nine decades after its release, The Wizard of Oz remains one of the most iconic films in cinematic history. The main cast included Garland as Dorothy Gale, Ray Bolger as the Scarecrow, Jack Haley as the Tin Man, Bert Lahr as the Cowardly Lion, Frank Morgan as the Wizard of Oz, Billie Burke as Glinda the Good Witch and Margaret Hamilton as the Wicked Witch of the West.

Kelly Clarkson and John Legend Break Down 'The Voice's Shocking Voting Twist: 'It’s a Different Ballgame' (Exclusive)

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 2:55pm

When The Voice begins its semifinals tonight and on tomorrow’s finale episode, there’s one big difference for Season 29 of the singing competition than ever before. There are no live shows, so America doesn’t get to vote for the winner.

Rather, an audience comprised of Superfans and former contestants will watch all the performances and then at the end of the show, cast their ballot for their favorite. So, what that means for the semifinals is they will select one artist each from John Legend and Adam Levine’s teams, and two from Kelly Clarkson’s team she has the advantage after having won the All-Star Showdown -- to move into the finale.

“I actually had to have [an] inner dialogue about this,” Clarkson tells Parade when asked about preparing for the new voting process. “I think all three of us coaches – we’ve been doing the show for so long, but it’s definitely different. The difference is [that] the Grammys are something where you’re nominated by your peers in the industry. It’s a different kind of ballgame for an award show that is fan-voted. It’s just a different ballgame.

"I did think we were going to have a hard time with certain things because these are also people who have been through it. These are previous artists who have been on The Voice and sometimes America does tend to vote a certain way. I did know it would be a little difficult, but also, I knew it would be cool because these artists know as I do how hard the process is. You have two and a half, three minutes to show people what you’re capable of. When you have so much talent, it’s a hard thing to do. With the peers and the superfans, it was a different ballgame. I feel like it was a challenge that no other artist on this show has had.”

Legend also agrees that it is a different ballgame. But even so, it didn’t change how he selected his three semifinalists.

“The first thing I do is I go back and listen to [performances] on headphones, and then I do a ranking of my artists based on me listening on headphones,” he tells Parade, explaining his process. “Because there can be a lot of the fog of war when you’re in the midst of the Blinds, and all the crowd’s there and all these other things are going on, and you may not be assessing things as level-headedly as you would like, and so I like to listen back and then I get a better idea of where I think my artists are. Then each round I do the same thing and re-rank them in my head based on their actual performances on the stage.”

And this season, Legend says that his three semifinalists -- KJ Willis, Lucas West and Syd Millevoi – were his Top 3 after the Blinds.

“If I look back at my rankings of these artists, these were among my favorites after the Blinds, and so they’ve been consistently excellent throughout the competition,” he says.

In fact, Legend feels that with the new voting method, he may have a better shot at winning a second season.

“Honestly, I figure that room is probably going to be more closely aligned to my taste than the vast swath of America voting, and so I feel a certain amount of trust for the room,” he says. “I think it’s a discerning musical audience, and it makes me actually a little more optimistic about how they’re going to vote.”

The Voice airs Monday nights at 9 p.m. ET/PT on NBC. Streams next day on Peacock.

Iconic '70s Rocker Sends Message on Late Bandmate Amid Farewell Tour

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 2:44pm

Little Feat's Bill Payne shared a lovely tribute to their former bandmate Lowell George.

George, who was a founder and primary guitarist of the American rock band, would have turned 81 years old on Monday. In June 1979, the musician passed away from a heart attack caused by an accidental heroin overdose in a hotel room in Arlington, Virginia, a day after his concert at Washington, D.C.'s Lisner Auditorium, for his tour in support of his solo album, Thanks I'll Eat it Here. He was just 34 years old.

Little Feat continued after George's death, going through multiple lineup changes over the past 50 years. Currently, the group is on their The Last Farewell Tour, celebrating their legacy and transition away from heavy touring. Payne, the group's pianist who has been the only founding member to stay all these years, wrote a beautiful tribute for George on Instagram on Monday.

"On the bus last night, I, like most of us, was feeling good but tired with all that had led up to us being on the road for the first of the Last Farewell Tour shows. For one crazy moment, I had envisioned what 81 candles on a birthday cake would look like, the flames casting dancing shadows on the wall," Payne wrote out. "I know it was a silly thought, but I don’t see any harm in letting imagination take over for what is a big moment in the band’s history and another tip-of-the hat to Lowell George on his birthday."

View this post on Instagram

The American Southern rock band was formed in 1969 in Los Angeles by George, Payne, Roy Estrada and Richie Hayward. In the 1970s, they released an album every year, before breaking up in the 1980s after George left the group, before his death due to creative differences. They eventually reunited again in 1987, and have released 22 albums since, with their most recent being Strike Up The Band last year. The current lineup includes Payne, Sam Clayton, Kenny Gradney, Fred Tackett, Scott Sharrard and Tony Leone.

Though George's exit caused the band to break up for almost a decade, Payne never held it against him, telling Highway 81 Revisted in 2019 that, "he will always be a part of Little Feat."

"For some people, he was the main attraction, until they dig deeper and they see that some songs were written by other people that maybe they thought were written by him. It doesn’t denigrate Lowell at all," Payne said. "He had some wonderful songs, his phrasing was incredible, not only as a guitar player but as a singer in particular. So we honor Lowell every time we hit the stage.”

The Last Farewell Tour kicked off last Friday night in Orlando, Florida, and is set to conclude on May 9 in St. Charles, Illinois. Tickets are available on Little Feat's official website.

"He was always bigger than life. Time to let loose, indeed," Payne concluded in his Instagram tribute. "Celebrate the man, the band, and our time we have left with each other, of which there is much more to come."

Iconic Convenience Store Chain to Shut Down 600+ Locations in 2026

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 2:32pm

A chain of convenience stores is set to close hundreds of locations in the coming year. 7-Eleven, which opened its first location in 1927, revealed in recent earnings documents that 645 locations across North America will be closing during its 2026 fiscal year.

According to C-Store Dive, parent company Seven & i Holdings included the information about the closings in its Brief Summary for FY 2025, which it released on April 9. The company's fiscal year runs from March 1 to February 28.

Some of the locations slated for closure will be converted into "wholesale fuel stores." The company still has plans to open 200 new locations across North America. However, as C-Store Dive noted, this will be the fifth straight year where 7-Eleven closes more stores than it opens across North America.

The site also indicated that the estimated 645 closings in 7-Eleven's fiscal year 2026 will be the highest number in recent years, by a notable amount. The number of stores opening has been relatively steady for the past few years, ranging from 122 to 315. Over the same timeframe, however, closures have typically run between 227 and 474.

The new 7-Eleven locations generally follow the chain's "large format, food-focused design," noted C-Store Dive.

The site Mass Market Retailers shared that convenience stores have been seeing success with a focus on quality prepared foods and a wider selection of food options. Tobacco and fuel remain "core traffic drivers," but the in-store experience with drinks and food has been a significant sales driver.

7-Eleven has not released a detailed list of the locations closing or the timing of the closings.

While the number of 7-Eleven convenience stores closing in 2026 is substantial, around 13,000 locations remain across the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The chain started in Texas, and now has over 86,000 stores open worldwide, in 19 different countries.

1978 Classic Launched the Career of the ‘Best Female Actor of All Time’ Nearly 50 Years Ago

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 2:16pm

A landmark wartime epic, The Deer Hunter not only became a 1979 Oscar magnet, but it launched the career of a legend many consider the greatest female actor of all time

Boasting a star-studded cast with topliners Robert De Niro and Christopher Walken, the film also features a young Meryl Streep as Linda, the girlfriend of Walken’s Nick who gets closer to De Niro's Michael, who plays a soldier recently home from the Vietnam War. It was a small role for Streep, but its impact could not have been bigger: She was nominated for her first Academy Award for what was essentially her first major film role.

Fast-forward to April 14, 1980, and Streep would win her first Oscar, for Kramer vs. Kramer. The trend would continue through the decades with the actor scoring 21 nominations since 1979 and winning ithree statuettes.

In 2023, Streep jumped over to the small screen for a recurring role in the third season of Only Murders in the Building opposite Martin Short. She plays Loretta Durkin, an actor and the love interest of Short's Oliver. In signature Streep form, she was nominated for an Emmy for the role.

As for The Deer Hunter, much like its quiet acting prodigy in a modest lace gown, the film reinvented the wartime drama, shifting the action away from the battlefield and into the traumatized psyches of the men fighting for their country. The highly controversial Russian roulette scenes are still discussed today.

Often cited in the same sentence as Francis Ford Coppola’s war epic, Apocalypse Now, The Deer Hunter marked a turning point in Vietnam-era cinema -- and a breakout moment in the rise of Meryl Streep.

Don't miss Streep's latest project: her return to the iconic "dragon lady," Miranda Priestly, in The Devil Wears Prada 2, out in theaters May 1.

The Deer Hunter is available to buy or rent on Prime Video.
