Why Maintaining Stable Blood Sugar Is Important for Everyone

Think only people with diabetes need to watch their blood sugar? Think again. Dr. Lucy Esteve, MD, an endocrinologist at Texas Diabetes and Endocrinology in Austin, Texas, says that maintaining stable blood sugar is beneficial for everyone.

She explains that in the short-term, blood sugar highs and lows can lead to symptoms such as fatigue, dizziness, blurry vision, shakiness, brain fog, confusion and irritability. If you experience any of these symptoms regularly and don’t know why, there’s a good chance that it could be connected to your blood sugar.

“In the long term, chronic fluctuations in blood sugar levels can lead to inflammation and damage to the blood vessels and nerve endings, which increases the risk of heart disease, stroke and neuropathy,” Dr. Esteve says. Scientific research has even shown a connection between glucose extremes (aka fluctuating blood sugar levels) and cognitive impairment. 

Dr. Esteve adds that repeated spikes in blood sugar can also lead to type 2 diabetes, another reason why maintaining stable blood sugar is important.

How To Enjoy Chocolate Without Spiking Blood Sugar

Here’s the good news: Maintaining stable blood sugar doesn’t mean never getting to enjoy sweet foods—including chocolate. If you do want to enjoy something chocolatey without spiking your blood sugar, the key is to choose dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate.

In one scientific study, dark chocolate was successfully used to slow the progression of type 2 diabetes. Researchers credit this to dark chocolate’s high amount of flavonoids, which are antioxidants that help protect against inflammation. 

“Because dark chocolate contains much more cocoa and less added sugar or milk, it causes a much slower and smaller rise in blood sugar compared to milk chocolate,” Dr. Esteve explains.

But there’s one common mistake many people make when choosing dark chocolate: Not choosing a chocolate with a high enough percentage of cacao. Just because a chocolate is labeled as “dark chocolate” doesn’t mean it won’t spike blood sugar. 

Instead of trusting clever marketing claims on the package, Dr. Esteve says to choose a chocolate that specifically has at least 70% cacao. If it’s lower than that, it’s going to impact your blood sugar more than you want it to.

Other Ways To Satisfy a Craving for Something Sweet Without Spiking Blood Sugar

Regardless of what type of sweet food you like, the best way to enjoy it while minimizing its impact on your blood sugar is to pair it with other foods that contain protein, fiber and unsaturated fats. This, Dr. Esteve says, will slow the absorption of the sugar. 

“One example of this is pairing berries with nuts and cheese or yogurt,” she explains, saying that while the berries are naturally sweet, they also contain fiber, which slows the absorption of the sugar. Nuts are high in fiber as well as unsaturated fats, which again helps slow the absorption of the sugar from the berries. As for the yogurt and cheese, while these foods don’t contain fiber, they do contain fats, which help blunt the sugar’s impact. 

If you know you’re going to want something sweet in the afternoon, eat it after your lunch instead of on its own later in the day. This is another way to put Dr. Esteve’s advice into practice.

It bears repeating that being mindful of your blood sugar doesn’t mean never getting to enjoy sweet foods. It just requires being a little more strategic about what you pair it with. And when a craving for chocolate hits, stick to a bar that’s at least 70% cacao. That way, you can satisfy your craving without experiencing a crash later.

Fifty-six years ago, iconic heavy metal band Black Sabbath released "Iron Man"—a song that would go on to have a massive resurgence and become a timeless staple of pop culture.

Released on September 18, 1970 as a track on their second studio album, Paranoid, "Iron Man" became an instant fan favorite. The track flourished on underground FM radio stations, promoting Black Sabbath to release it as a single in October 1971.

The single version, which was edited down to three minutes and 33 seconds to account for radio-friendliness, entered the Billboard Hot 100 in March 1972. It ultimately peaked at No. 52, spending 10 weeks on the chart and becoming the highest-charting single from the album in the U.S.

Times "Iron Man" Resurfaced

In 1998, a live rendition of "Iron Man" was featured on Black Sabbath's live reunion record, Reunion. The album contained the band's most beloved hits, reigniting fans' fascination with specific tracks. "Iron Man" happened to be a song that deeply reconnected with new audiences, marking the first major era of the single's resurgence.

The live performance was so immensely popular that it took home Best Metal Performance at the 42nd Annual Grammy Awards in 2000—attesting to the power of the group's enduring impact on metal.

Eight years after the live album's Grammy win, "Iron Man" experienced another major mainstream resurgence after being featured in the 2008 blockbuster hit Iron Man. The track appeared heavily in the film's marketing and as the closing credits song, with the needle dropping seconds after Tony Stark utters his famous closing line, "I am Iron Man." The song's heavy association with the movie defined it as the driving soundtrack of the epic film that launched the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

A Motivational Masterpiece

Written by all four members of Black Sabbath, "Iron Man" tells the science-fiction story of a man who travels to the future and witnesses the apocalypse. On his journey back to the present, he is turned to steel by a magnetic field, leaving him unable to speak. He attempts to warn humanity but is met with mockery, driving him mad and leading him to cause the destruction he wanted to prevent.

While on the surface, its lyrics don't hold much emotional weight, its powerful arrangement certainly does. The track's association with the 2008 film, accompanied by its epic, soaring guitar riffs and driving instrumental moments, turned it into a quintessential motivational anthem. Today, it remains a powerhouse that frequently soundtracks sporting events and high-energy cinematic moments worldwide.

Over five decades after its release, "Iron Man" maintains its cult acclaim, with its popularity seamlessly carrying over into the digital era. On Spotify alone, the track has accumulated over 727 million streams, proving that it is just as potent to modern rock fans today as it was in 1970.

Trevor Horn, the legendary musician and producer famously dubbed "the man who invented the '80s," celebrates his 77th birthday on July 15.

It's a bold nickname, but one many music critics believe is well deserved. In a feature for The Stool Pigeon, critic Simon Price argued that if a record from "that golden period between punk and Live Aid" sparkles with the glossy, futuristic sound that came to define the decade, it was either produced by Horn "or trying to sound as if it was." Price concluded simply: "He is, essentially, the man who invented the eighties."

Horn first found fame in 1979 as one half of The Buggles, whose groundbreaking hit "Video Killed the Radio Star" topped the charts around the world before becoming the first music video ever played on MTV in 1981. He also became the frontman for the rock band Yes in the early '80s, singing lead on their Drama album before the band took a break and reformed a couple of years later.

But it was behind the mixing console where Horn truly changed pop music.

Throughout the 1980s, Horn crafted era-defining records for artists including ABC, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Grace Jones, Yes, Malcolm McLaren, Pet Shop Boys and Art of Noise, pioneering the use of digital sampling, synthesizers and drum machines in mainstream pop. His productions helped establish the polished, cinematic sound that countless artists would emulate throughout the decade.

Speaking with the Recording Academy in 2014, Horn laughed when asked whether he had really "invented the '80s."

"I did make some of the first modern-sounding records, but a few other people were doing [similar things]," he said. "After the first samplers and sequencers came along, you could give a mechanical feeling to rock music … We wanted to make records that sounded like Donna Summer meets Kiss."

The Stool Pigeon interview sheds light on how that sound developed. Horn recalled becoming fascinated by producer Biddu's meticulously assembled disco recordings, saying they inspired the aesthetic that would define his own work.

"That's what I'm trying to get to: that coldness, that precision," he remembered.

That precision fueled an extraordinary run of hits. Horn produced ABC's landmark debut The Lexicon of Love, transformed Frankie Goes to Hollywood's "Relax" and "Two Tribes" into chart-topping phenomena, co-founded the influential ZTT Records and Art of Noise, and convinced Yes to record "Owner of a Lonely Heart," which became the band's only No. 1 hit in the United States.

His success continued well beyond the '80s. Horn won the Grammy Award for Record of the Year for producing Seal's "Kiss from a Rose," later worked with artists including LeAnn Rimes, Robbie Williams and Belle and Sebastian, and earned three Brit Awards for Best British Producer, an Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music and a CBE for services to the music industry.

More than four decades after helping reshape pop music, Trevor Horn's influence can still be heard across modern production, making "the man who invented the '80s" one of popular music's most fitting nicknames.

Gleb Savchenko and his ex-wife, Elena Samodanova, are at the center of a heated legal dispute involving their daughters.

On July 15, TMZ obtained court documents filed by the Dancing With the Stars pro that request emergency custody of his daughter, Olivia (he and Samodanova are also parents to a younger daughter named Zlata).

Per the docs, the girls moved to Hong Kong with their mother in 2023, which Savchenko claims was a temporary agreement with the idea being that the girls would be back in the States by June 30, 2024. However, he says that didn't happen. Instead, he claims that his ex "obtained permanent Hong Kong residency, enrolled the children in an expensive private school, got the children a cat, became engaged, and had another child with her fiancé."

"This has functionally forced me to travel to Hong Kong each year to visit my children, which I have consistently done despite Elena's efforts taken to drastically limit my access to our daughters," Savchenko said in the documents, according to TMZ.

He claims that his oldest daughter, Olivia, is currently with him in Los Angeles, and he says that she doesn't want to return to China to be with her mother.

Samodanova, who was married to the dancer from 2006 through 2021, has released a statement after the news went public.

"The statement from Mr. Savchenko's attorney misrepresents our family's reality. As Olivia's primary caregiver, I have raised her every day while Gleb worked full-time on DWTS. Today, Olivia thrives in Hong Kong. She attends a top school and is an elite ballroom dancer," Samodanova told TMZ.

"Gleb's actions directly jeopardize her future, education, and athletic progress. California lacks jurisdiction over our daughter. Hong Kong is Olivia's permanent home and legal residency," she continued. "Ironically, Gleb himself holds a Permanent Resident card there. Olivia was scheduled to return to Hong Kong on June 5th, but her father wrongfully canceled her ticket without my permission. This is a wrongful international retention."

Her statement concluded, "His emergency filing is a rushed attempt to bypass proper laws. I am asking the court to halt temporary orders and grant a continuance so my counsel can present Olivia's permanent records through the correct legal channels."

Savchenko posted about visiting his daughters over the holidays.

"Last minute flight to Hong Kong, just for a few days, just to be with my girls and honestly, there’s no better way to welcome a new year. Holding them, laughing with them, spending real quality time together… this has been the greatest gift anyone could ever give me," he captioned an Instagram post on Dec. 31, 2025. "I miss them more than words can say, I love them more than they’ll ever know, and I’m endlessly grateful to have them in my life. These moments mean everything to me, and I’ll carry them in my heart until I see them again. My girls are my forever."

Parade has reached out to a rep for Savchenko for comment.

He and Samodanova are scheduled to attend mediation on August 5, per TMZ.

When one fan encouraged her to ignore the negativity that had recently come her way, Gosselin offered a candid update. “I’m sorry if negative energy has come your way. Keep living life honey!!!!!” the follower wrote in the comments.

"I am and I'm fine," Gosselin, 51, replied. "This is honestly small compared to what me and my other kids have been through back in the day...."

While Gosselin didn't specify exactly what prompted the comment, it comes just weeks after her estranged son, Collin Gosselin, announced his upcoming memoir, In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood, which is scheduled for release on October 13.

The family drama has continued to play out publicly in recent weeks. After one social media user suggested Kate sue Collin for defamation if the allegations in his book are false, she responded, "I can't bc I'm a public figure. Rules are different unfortunately. Or I def would!"

Meanwhile, Collin recently claimed one of his own public challenges to his mother has gone unanswered. Sharing a clip from a 2025 interview to his Instagram Stories, the 22-year-old wrote, "This was a year ago and I've been stood up by my mom… again."

In the interview, Collin publicly invited Kate to participate in a lie detector test alongside him. "I did just say on social media that I would like to invite my mom to do a lie detector test," he said. "I wanna get into everything."

He went on to explain that he wanted both of them connected to "lie detectors, heart monitors, everything," so they could answer questions about their years-long family conflict. "I want the truth to be told," Collin added.

Sharing the discovery online on Tuesday, July 14, the account wrote, "We have a new Kringle in town at Trader Joe's and it's cherry almond. Have you tried it? I haven't yet but I can't wait. I can imagine it'd be perfectly tart but sweet and I will be adding some ice cream."

Fans were quick to share their excitement in the comments.

“Ok so I tried this today. Immediately wanted to go back and buy more…. I have no self control, I need help,” one quipped.

“Oh no, I’ve managed to never have one of these but cherry almond??? Come on 😋🤤,” another wrote.

The limited-time pastry joins Trader Joe's lineup of seasonal Kringles, which have become something of a cult favorite over the years. While many shoppers associate the sweet treat with Trader Joe's, the famous ring-shaped pastry is actually made by O&H Danish Bakery in Wisconsin, where the traditional Danish dessert has long been a local specialty.

Fans know the bakery item rarely sticks around for long. Throughout the year, Trader Joe's rotates flavors including Pumpkin Caramel, Raspberry, and a cheesecake-inspired spring variety.

The new Cherry Almond version is expected to be another limited-time offering, making it one shoppers may want to grab while they can.

And each one-and-a-half-pound pastry serves up to 12 people, making it an easy dessert for summer barbecues or  weekend brunches. Of course, plenty of Trader Joe's fans would argue it's just as good enjoyed straight out of the box—or warmed up with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra-indulgent treat.

More than four decades after Soundgarden formed, the legendary grunge band is finally nearing the release of its last studio album.

In a new interview, guitarist Kim Thayil revealed that Soundgarden is aiming to release its long-awaited final album in 2027. The record will feature previously recorded performances by late frontman Chris Cornell and is expected to serve as the band's final studio release.

Thayil said the surviving members are continuing to work through the material carefully, explaining that the project remains a work in progress.

"We're looking at the material that we intend to complete, and we also look at material that perhaps we can complete," he said, adding that the album will "more likely" contain nine songs.

The guitarist acknowledged that scheduling has slowed the process, with the band balancing studio sessions around other commitments.

"We have to book studio time here and there," Thayil explained. "And it's been a very busy year for us with the Hall of Fame induction, very busy year for me with the book, until last year it was very busy for Matt [Cameron] with Pearl Jam recordings and Pearl Jam touring… we kind of have to work around a lot of that."

The significance of the project has made the band determined to get it right.

"We love these songs," Thayil said. "These are ideas that were created by Matt, by Ben, by myself and by Chris. These are songs we've worked with in a collaborative fashion amongst all four of us in different combinations over the years. We know the significance of this material, with our legacy and with Chris' legacy… we want to make sure that it's as great as it can be, because it'll be the last studio album."

Soundgarden formed in Seattle in 1984, helping lay the foundation for the grunge movement years before the genre exploded into the mainstream. Fronted by Cornell alongside Thayil, bassist Ben Shepherd and drummer Matt Cameron, the band produced landmark albums including Badmotorfinger, Superunknown and Down on the Upside, with songs such as "Black Hole Sun," "Spoonman," "Fell on Black Days," "Rusty Cage" and "Outshined" becoming defining rock anthems of the era.

Cornell died in 2017, leaving behind unfinished recordings that the band has spent years trying to complete. Legal disputes and the emotional weight of returning to the material delayed the project, but Thayil has repeatedly emphasized that finishing the album remains one of the group's highest priorities.

"It was demos, but the demo quality was pretty good, because both Chris and Matt had become very interested in their home recording technique, so they might demo a song, and then Ben and I would add our guitars or bass," Thayil explained to Music Radar of how the final album began to take shape in 2019. "Maybe Matt might play drums to a riff that Chris had recorded. And that would be recorded by one of our engineers or techs."

When asked whether Soundgarden could eventually tour in support of the album with a guest vocalist, Thayil didn't rule out the possibility, saying those discussions would come later as the band considers how best to honor the music.

For longtime fans, the announcement marks another hopeful step toward hearing the final chapter of Soundgarden's story. Forty-two years after the band first formed, its last collection of music with Chris Cornell is finally beginning to come into focus, a release the surviving members hope will properly celebrate both the band’s legacy and the voice that helped define a generation of rock.

Beartooth frontman Caleb Shomo and his wife, Fleur Shomo, have officially filed for divorce, which comes two months after the rocker came out as gay.

Page Six reports that the two jointly filed for divorce in Los Angeles Superior Court earlier this week. They got married in 2012.

Shomo shared an emotional Instagram post in May, bravely coming out after there was a lot of online speculation regarding his sexuality.

“There has been a lot of speculation surrounding my personal life as of late and I feel compelled to set the record straight before it affects those I love any further. I am a proudly gay man,” he wrote. “This is something I’ve been unpacking and reckoning with in my life for quite some time now. It’s been difficult to navigate the feelings surrounding the subject and figure out what to do with this fact.”

“When it comes to my art/Beartsooth, I have always strived to chase who I am in the deepest part of my soul from album to album," he continued. " As you could gather if you’ve followed the band at all in the earlier years, there are 4 very self deprecating albums about exploring my religious upbringing, depression, self hatred, and hopelessness. I am grateful for all these albums, yet feel embarrassed at times that I wouldn’t allow myself to really dig up the roots for so long.”

Following his announcement, Fleur shared a statement of her own on Instagram, showing support for her husband.

“Our nearly 14yrs of marriage was wonderful and full of so much fun, adventure & love. Nobody will know anything about our marriage like we do. And no one can ever truly know what depths of love exist between two people unless they are those people,” she wrote. “I already miss it & my husband more than anything. Our story was a good one. And now it’s done.”

“I hope anyone in the world going through this finds hope & courage & I hope the fans can continue to support Caleb," Fleur added. "For now I’m going to keep focusing on what I can control & continue living my life trying to achieve what I want to achieve. And if I keep saying hi to as many dogs as possible along the way, then I’m sure things will slowly get better, day by day, piece by small piece, bird by bird.”

The former couple does not share any children.

Congratulations are in order for Whisperin’ Bill Anderson. 

On July 15, 1961, Anderson became a member of the Grand Ole Opry. Sixty-five years later, he continues to celebrate a historic legacy as the Opry's longest-serving continuous member.

"It'll be fun to think back on 65 years," the country legend told Taste of Country in an interview earlier this year. 

"That's kind of a marker number, I guess, for a lot of things. People retire at 65, and heck, I'm just celebrating," he said before envisioning the headline, "Most people retire at 65, Bill celebrates."

Anderson is proud of the milestone, but he'll be the first to say he isn't the Opry's oldest member.

"I'm not the oldest member at the Opry, I know two people that are still living," Anderson said, naming fellow Opry greats Bobby Bare and Jeannie Pruitt. "But in terms of longevity on the show, I've been there longer than everybody … that's ever been a part of the show. So I'm very grateful for that, very thankful for it, and looking forward to celebrating in July."

Even though his anniversary lands on a Wednesday, the singer’s always been "kind of a Saturday night Opry guy." 

"I was raised on the Opry on Saturday nights before they did all the weekday shows. I said, 'Let's celebrate it on the 18th,'” he said.

For Saturday, July 18’s celebration, Anderson will share the Opry stage with Lorrie Morgan, Crystal Gayle, Rhonda Vincent, John Berry, the Isaacs and Steve Dorff. 

Anderson had a hand in the lineup, but he knew July’s busy touring schedule would make it difficult to bring many artists together.

The celebration also comes with a bittersweet reminder. "Of course an awful lot of my Opry buddies have unfortunately passed on. The ones that were there when I joined the Opry, very few if any of them are left," he added.

Still, Anderson has grown close with a younger generation of Opry stars, including Vince Gill, Steve Wariner and Jamey Johnson. He's looking forward to celebrating alongside them, and his longtime friends, on his big night. 

"I'd love it if they could be there that night, and we can all overdose on birthday cake," he quipped.

Fans have already taken to social media to send their congratulations. "That is a very long time. Dedication!! I'll be celebrating that," one person wrote, while another reflected, "So awesome to have seen him at the Opry many times ... what an honor."

"Congratulations on 65 years as member of Grand Ole Opry," a third added. "He's always been one of my favorites. Congratulations Bill!" another shared.

“Loved seeing Bill on many Stages, but the biggest goose bumps moments is when he come out on the Ryman or Opry Stage,” a fan exclaimed.

In 1972, Todd Rundgren turned a song he had written as a teenager into the biggest hit of his career.

"Hello It's Me" first appeared in 1968 on the debut album by Rundgren's band, Nazz. He wrote the song when he was just 19 years old, but it wasn't until he re-recorded it for his 1972 double album Something/Anything? that it became a major commercial success. Released as a single in 1973, the ballad climbed to No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100, cementing its place as one of the defining breakup songs of the era.

The song's journey to success was anything but immediate.

While the original Nazz recording introduced listeners to Rundgren's gift for melody, it received little attention outside the band's growing cult following. As his solo career took off, Rundgren revisited the composition, speeding up the tempo, enriching the arrangement with strings and layered backing vocals, and giving the song the emotional depth that would eventually connect with millions of listeners.

Rundgren wrote the song about his high school girlfriend, Linda, who turned him down because of her father's disapproval.

"One day in May '66, a friend dropped us off and I walked Linda to her front door," Rundgren told The Wall Street Journal. "Her father, who was outside, hated me on sight. He turned the garden hose on me. Long hair on a guy was a political statement back then and a red flag for parents. A day or two later, Linda told me she was forbidden to see me anymore. Just like that, she stopped talking to me and wouldn't take my calls. I adored her and was heartbroken, almost suicidal."

Lyrically, "Hello It's Me" captures the complicated emotions that often linger after a relationship has ended.

Rather than expressing bitterness or resentment, Rundgren sings with empathy and acceptance, acknowledging that two people can care deeply for one another while recognizing they may be better apart. That emotional maturity helped distinguish the song from many breakup records of its time and has allowed it to resonate with listeners for generations.

The success of "Hello It's Me" marked a turning point in Rundgren's career.

Already respected as a songwriter, producer and studio innovator, he suddenly found himself with his highest-charting solo single. The hit introduced a wider audience to his thoughtful songwriting and helped establish Something/Anything? as one of the landmark albums of the early 1970s.

More than five decades later, "Hello It's Me" remains one of Rundgren's signature recordings. Its heartfelt lyrics, graceful melody and understated performance have kept it in steady rotation on classic rock and soft rock radio, while its message continues to resonate with anyone who has experienced the lingering emotions of a past relationship.

Rundgren continues to tour, and "Hello It's Me" remains a part of his setlist.

"I don’t have a long string of AM hits," he told The Valley Breeze. "Most of my ticket sales are based on an audience I've had for a long time. I realize ['Hello It's Me is] my albatross. I tend to push it as far down into the set as possible because I figure some segment of the audience, once they hear it, they get up to leave. That’s all they came to hear."

What began as a song written by a 19 year-old aspiring musician ultimately became one of rock's most enduring breakup anthems and a reminder that some of the most timeless songs simply need time to find their audience.

It's wild to believe we're only approaching the one-week mark of Big Brother 28. Within the 90-minute premiere alone, we were introduced to 14 new houseguests, brought in three reality TV icons, and tossed one into a volcano. And the heat has continued to be on the latest season of the iconic CBS reality series, as dynamics are emerging, alliances are being made, Angela Murray is getting settled back in, and Survivor players Dee Valladares and Rick Devens are trying to get used to the waters of the house.

And, when talking with host Julie Chen Moonves about transferring both Dee and Devens from the island to the backyard, she admits she was initially less than pleased.

"I personally was not happy when I heard that two former Survivors were coming in," the veteran host admits in an exclusive interview. "Now, yes, we've done that before on Big Brother. But when we had Cirie come in, she was secretly playing with her son. So that feels very true to what Big Brother is, right? So I was like, 'Okay.' And then of course you can't help but love Cirie. She is so masterful at this type of game. Then I heard there's someone named Rick Devens — I didn't watch either of the two seasons he was on — and someone named Dee, a former winner, people love her. I was a little bit like, 'Okay, Survivor castaways! What do you have?'"

Chen Moonves talks with Parade about her thoughts on the reality icons — including the person she thinks "doesn't get" the game —, her reaction to the early showmance between Lyric Medeiros and Rome Seymour, and her pick to take home the $750,000.

Julie, you've got the chance to do so many things throughout your storied journalistic career. So what was your first reaction when you realized you had to say, "Just moments ago, a velociraptor threw Rachel into a volcano"?
I said, "You know what? At one point in my foolish, immature career, I thought I'd be on 60 MInutes one day. But here I am saying such silly nonsense and having a great time! Expect the unexpected in life, Julie." It's like that Biblical saying, "Man makes plan and God laughs."

Let's get into these three "reality icons" who walked into the game. I'd love to get your thoughts on what surprised you the most about each of them. Starting with Angela.
Angela, you should have seen her on premiere night. She first walks in. She's the queen. I'm so happy with Angela. To me, she's television gold. And I was loving how much she was loving being celebrated. Then we threw in Rachel Reilly, and I saw her face. [Mimes going from a smile to a frown.] The energy just drained, and I thought, "Oh dear."

And I could see the wheels turning because she's thinking, "Maybe I'm not going to be the queen this season." Then, when the velociraptor got Rachel, I saw that smile back on Angela. I said, "Now that's the Angela I love. She's in it to win, to be the queen, to dominate. Now, what's going to happen if she wins Head of Household? I don't know. All bets are off because that's where we saw her. But she was a newbie. She didn't know what to do with that power, and we saw a little bit of unraveling. But it was great television, and I love her.

I don't know if you saw on the live feeds, but we got a bit of the Angela of old yesterday, when she began getting paranoid that Drew was being disloyal to the "Crossovers" alliance.
And the season's young. I mean, who knows what we're going to have later with another person that gets in her crosshairs? I don't know!

What about Devens and Dee?
I personally was not happy when I heard that two former Survivors were coming in. Now, yes, we've done that before on Big Brother. But when we had Cirie come in, she was secretly playing with her son. So that feels very true to what Big Brother is, right? So I was like, "Okay." And then of course you can't help but love Cirie. She is so masterful at this type of game. Then I heard there's someone named Rick Devens" — I didn't watch either of the two seasons he was on — and someone named Dee, a former winner, people love her. I was a little bit like, "Okay, Survivor castaways! What do you have?"

And then I did my homework, and I was like, "Okay, Rick Devens, he's a former news anchor, morning news, so am I." I was pulling for the guy. And then I did my homework on Dee, and I loved her story, how she immigrated from Cuba, and I watched enough highlights to see, wow, she's a fierce competitor. And then I saw her running in the New York City Marathon. I'm like, "Okay, I'm starting to warm up."

Then they go in the house, and I'm like, "I'm gonna give him a chance." But then Rick Devens with his loose lips, I was like, "You lost me, buddy." And Dee she gets it. She won the first Head of Household; she's a fierce competitor. But the fact that she is in an alliance with Rick Devens and Angela, very clever. But when Rick told her in the storage room, about, "I told so-and-so," and she was like, "No, no, no, no, no, no. Why did you do that?! I thought, "Ooh, she gets it."

I'm subtly pulling for Dee, and I would love to see — again, affinity bias — a woman make history as the first person to win both Big Brother and Survivor. I mean, don't forget when she didn't win Season 50 of Survivor, she was the first member of the jury, and she was like, "Oh, so this is how it feels." She quickly got how Big Brother works. Now I don't know how much she studied, and I don't know how much Rick studied. But Rick doesn't get it. Devens does not get it.



Let's stick on the newbies here. We saw a showmance get struck up on Day 2, something we've only seen a handful of times across a quarter-century of Big Brother. Waht's been your reaction to Lyric and Rome?
I'm already planning the wedding! I love it. It's like the Mike Tyson line. "Everyone has a plan, but they get punched in the face." She came up with a plan. She's like, "I'm a lawyer. I have my MBA. I'm taking home $750,000." But you can't fight love. You can't fight chemistry. That plan went out the window. And we have had more marriages than The Bachelor.

So when that happened, I'm like, "Who cares about the game if you find your future partner and build a life with them?" As we've seen with so many people, Rachel Reilly and Brendan, Jeff and Jordan. The list goes on. I'm like, "Then you've really won so much more than you set out to do by trying out for Big Brother." And Rome, so adorable with his mustache; he's a pickleball coach. And I saw the energy. I was like, "Yay! I'm gonna plan their wedding. I'm gonna crash their wedding." And I'm also hoping for a showmance between Kamu and Haley because I see some chemistry there. But things can change in a minute.

We obviously saw Rachel in the premiere. And I've heard the houseguests say that Dr. Will and Howie Gordon played a part in tonight's Veto competition. Should we expect to see more faces from Big Brother past throughout the season?
People we want from the past that get Big Brother? Absolutely. I mean, Will Kirby, Season 2 winner, and then he played again in All Stars, and for a long time he hosted the Jury Roundtable. He was on the very first Power of Veto [competition this season]. So yeah. Actually, sometimes they line up people that I'm not even aware of. Like sometimes they'll give me heads up, "Hey, we're in talking so and so, but we're still negotiating." And then I'm like, "Well, what happened?" And they're like, "Oh, they got busy or whatever." So I like to expect the unexpected. I mean, Howie, former weatherman! He was so great that season with Janelle. I can't wait to see who they bring back from the past. Those that I know of and those that I don't even know of yet.

We get the chance to vote for houseguests to compete for powers and punishments in the "BB Time Capsule." Do you know what powers we'll be voting on? Will they be from seasons past?
I honestly don't know. I try to just take bite-sized with what I need to know. But that's a very good question. I'm gonna find out.

Let's stake your claim right now, Julie. Who will be the first person evicted from Big Brother 28, and who will be the next Head of Household?
Ooh, well, I don't want Yash to go home. Who's going to be the next Head of Household? I don't know what the competition is. I'm gonna say Kamu. He's an MMA fighter. He seems very smart. I'm gonna say Kamu. Kamu or Chuk? Maybe Chuk.

Finally, who's your Big Brother 28 winner pick?
I put five bucks on Drew or Latrice. [It depends on] if I like someone's story, Latrice's affinity bias because she's 57; I'm 56. She works on the Upper East Side of Manhattan; I used to live on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. So I was pulling for her. I'm from Queens, I'm from New York City, so I relate to her. But then I put $5 on Drew because I liked his story. He's 22. His mom is an immigrant from Mexico. She came to this country and learned how to speak English by watching Big Brother. I said, "Kid, I'm putting five bucks on you now." Now I'm like, "...alright." I'm kind of pulling for Dee because I love the game and I love that she gets the game.

In January of this year, Tori Amos fans were thrilled to learn that the ’90s legend and alternative rock pioneer would be taking the stage again for her “In Times of Dragons” tour.

Taking to Instagram at the time, Amos, 62, wrote, “I can’t wait to see you all again on the road; we have much to catch up on!! 

The “Winter” singer continued, “So looking forward to playing with Jon, Earl, Deni, Hadley and Liv. It’s going to be a blast. I’m also thrilled to finally reveal the cover of the new record. To work with Kasia and Karen on both the cover and the full artwork to bring the story and characters to life was a truly moving experience. Seeing our collaborations come to life, with them and the whole team, will live with me forever.” 

Amos was, of course, referring to her new album, In Times of Dragon, which was released on May 1. The 17-track record, spanning 75 minutes, marks Amos’ 18th studio album. 

Some of her most notable albums include Little Earthquakes, Under the Pink, Boys for Pele, and From the Choirgirl Hotel.

On Tuesday, July 14, Amos performed for concertgoers at Moody Theater in Austin, Texas.

Pillsbury is delighting fans' taste buds with the release of a brand-new offering hitting grocery stores nationwide, and one shopper is calling it the "best idea ever." The bakery brand just dropped one of its most popular products in a new form: pre-baked cinnamon rolls.

Skipping the need for an oven (and the wait time for baking), the item was shared on social media on Wednesday, July 15, by trusted food blogger Markie Devo. The product comes with four large cinnamon-flavored rolls, topped with a healthy dose of sweet vanilla icing.

According to the label, they're best served warm. "The pack states it may be warmed in a conventional oven or individually microwaved for an elevated eating experience," the caption of the upload reads. The General Mills-produced snack is currently making its way to select stores' bakery section shelves, if not already available.

Shoppers jumped into the comments section of the Instagram post to express excitement.

"Yum! 😋" one exclaimed, while another said, "Oh my taste buds are screaming they gotta have some," and a third added, "Hmmmm this is smart."

Another person called the new release the "Best idea ever 👏" now that the cinnamon rolls will be readily available without needing to be refrigerated and baked.

"Oh Lordt!!!!! 😍😍😍," someone else raved.

Meanwhile, others had reservations, with some wondering how long they will last before losing a fresh taste. "Hmm the issue is those out of the can don't taste good the next day, So i am wondering how these will taste since it won't be fresh," one questioned.

An additional commenter chimed in with a similar sentiment: "I’m not sure how I feel about this— nothing beats fresh out of the oven [sic]."

Last week, Disney announced that one of Gen Z’s childhood staples would be returning. The Cheetah Girls are officially returning! But this time, the story won’t center around Chanel, Galleria, Aqua and Dorinda. Cheetah Girls: Next Gen will follow a new generation of singers, dancers and performers. Disney has officially announced the casting for the new Cheetah Girls, which features Leah Sava' Jeffries as Faith, Carmen Sanchez as Dior, Kaileen Chang as Ruby, and Sophie Lennon as Brooklyn. And while we’ve seen the success of Disney reboots, like High School Musical: The Musical, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, Raven's Home and Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, what makes this one different? The casting.

After Disney’s announcement of the reboot, which featured a video of the four girls singing and dancing to “Strut” from The Cheetah Girls 2 movie, fans took to X and other social media platforms to express their opinions and concerns. “This is so whitewashed, I can’t explain it,” said user @theekendall on X. Others agreed, commenting on the diversity in the original Cheetah Girls films compared to the lack of diversity in the upcoming film's casting. Others even brought up the Cheetah Girls books, which originally featured five black girls.

Another user took to X to post photos of the book covers, tweeting, “This is what the original Cheetah Girls looked like btw… You are not wrong for feeling like it’s been whitewashed. Not even Dorinda was white; she was Japanese and AA and even the Hispanic characters were Afro-Latina. Disney IS playing in our faces.”

And while The Cheetah Girls: Next Gen will feature Raven-Symoné, Adrienne Bailon, Sabrina Bryan and Lynn Whitfield, fans of the original books and films still worry about the casting, with debates about how there is less representation for Black girls in Hollywood now compared to the 90s and early 2000s. User @jasimisinclair brings up this point on social media, stating, “The Cheetah Girls casting is just a reflection of what casting today looks like today. How many shows and movies do you know that cast two or more black girls in a project nowadays? Disney was never dedicated to preserving the culture of The Cheetah Girls.”

On the other hand, the original cast seems to be very excited about the upcoming film. Raven-Symoné shared her excitement in an Instagram post, captioned, "It's happening, and it's CHEETAHLISHIOUS!"

Will people tune into Cheetah Girls: Next Gen despite the casting? It has been an exciting year for the popular store, having rolled out numerous new bags, including the viral pastel mini tote bags. And they are showing no signs of stopping, continuing to give customers what they want.

Trader Joe's website shows the return of the red & black reusable insulated tote bag, which is available for $6.99 each. But, it does feature a few changes from the original.

Thirty years after the release of "Wonderwall," Oasis is back on the charts again.

The 1995 tune by the English rock band is among "the most-played songs" right now, as of July 14, taking the No. 2 spot in the Top 5 Spotify ranking.

The timing, even decades later, isn’t surprising, as the song saw a resurgence amid England's World Cup run, most recently, the team's win over Norway in the quarterfinals on July 11.

"The Oasis classic lands in this week’s top five after reaching a new all-time streaming high, powered by World Cup momentum and a new generation of fans turning the 1995 hit into England’s unofficial tournament anthem," Boardroom reported.

Following the victorious match-up, the players representing England lined up on the field, arm-in-arm, for a sing-along of "Wonderwall" with a sea of fans.

While many new traditions have been introduced during the 2026 World Cup—like Norway's "Ro" chant as they mimic a rowing motion—the "Wonderwall" singalong happens after every England victory, with the tune becoming England's unofficial anthem, as Boardroom notes, "What started as a post-match singalong has become one of the defining soundtrack moments of England’s run.⁠"

Over on Reddit, a user noted that the Manchester, England-based band's song has "a chance to hit #1 on the UK singles chart for the first time ever."

Despite its popularity and worldwide recognition, consistently ranking among the "Greatest Songs of All Time," per Rolling Stones, the song narrowly missed out on the top spot in the U.K., peaking at No. 2 on the Singles Chart, and in the U.S., it hit No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100.

As for the top songs of the week on Spotify, Shakira and Burna Boy's official World Cup Anthem, "Dai Dai," takes the No. 1 spot, as Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean," Justin Bieber ft. Nicki Minaj's "Beauty and the Beat" and Ariana Grande's "Hate That I Made You Love Me" round out the top 5.
