Whenever an artist experiences vocal changes, there will always be lots of negativity, and lots of accusations of lip syncing. Of course, there's also the calls to retire and the ridicule that many will hurl toward an artist. Barry Manilow has been experiencing all of this.

The prolific singer recently overcame lung cancer and has made a return to the stage. Regardless of that fact, he's also getting older. Last month he turned 83, so obviously he's not going to sound the exact same. Regardless of this fact, accusations of lip-syncing and autotune have been hurled his way.

It's pretty difficult to find a video of Manilow performing online without seeing the comments coming in droves about his voice. His fans have finally had enough, and are coming to his defense about his vocals.

The accusation made is that the entirety of Manilow's performance is lip synced, which just isn't true. Commenters claim there some parts where he needs a bit of assistance since his battle with lung cancer, but it's a miniscule amount compared to the rest of the show.

"Can we get over the blatant lie that Barry is lip-syncing the whole show now please???" the video urged, "Why do non-fans have so much to say about him?"

More fans joined in this call in the comments, rushing to defend the singer who is still doing his thing all these years later.

"He is 83 years old and puts on a fantastic show. Full of energy and great songs. I have had the pleasure of seeing him over 70 something times. Some of the notes at the end of songs are monumental. I am sure there is help there but he does sing the songs and you can hear it in his voice sometimes that raspy older voice or he may stop singing and smile etc. Let’s just celebrate him. He is doing a great job and must love it to keep going."

"You are so right! I don’t know why so many people have so much to say about this legend. He’s been through hell and back and is still putting on a great show, especially considering his age. Recently saw him in Newark, New Jersey and he was fantastic! I guess some people are so miserable with their own lives that they can’t just scroll on and let people enjoy what they enjoy! When Maurice Williams sat down as a 15-year-old in 1953, he had one simple goal: convince his girlfriend to stay a little longer before heading home for her 10 p.m. curfew. Instead, he ended up writing one of the most enduring songs in pop history.

Released by Maurice Williams & The Zodiacs in 1960, "Stay" topped the Billboard Hot 100 on Nov. 21, 1960, and, at just 98 seconds, remains the shortest song ever to reach No. 1 on the chart. More than six decades later, Billboard'sPaul Grein aptly described the record as "98 seconds of pop perfection."

The inspiration behind the song was remarkably ordinary. Williams later recalled for Wayne Jancik's book "The Billboard Book of One-Hit Wonders: Revised and Expanded" that his girlfriend had to leave because of her parents' rules, and despite his best efforts to persuade her otherwise, she wouldn't budge.

"She had to be in by 10 P.M.," Williams said. "One night I just didn't want her to leave. She argued that she would get into trouble. I tried to convince her she wouldn't, but she knew better and left. Like a flood, the words just came to me."

Even then, "Stay" nearly disappeared forever. Williams said he wrote the song in about 30 minutes before throwing it away. Years later, while playing demos at his girlfriend's house, her younger sister asked to hear "the song with the high voice." Williams realized she meant "Stay," and decided to record it after all.

That decision changed music history.

The original recording wastes no time, opening with The Zodiacs shouting the title before Williams launches into his heartfelt plea. Its unforgettable falsetto break from Henry Gaston became one of rock's signature vocal moments, while the song packs an entire emotional story into less than a minute and 40 seconds.

As music writer Brent Mann observed in his book "99 Red Balloons and 100 Other All-Time Great One-Hit Wonders," in which he ranks "Stay" as the No. 2 one-hit wonder of all time, the classic song possesses a "timeless quality," adding that it "glides agelessly from decade to decade."

Its influence has stretched far beyond its lone week atop the Hot 100. It has found uncommon success on the charts with several covers. The Hollies scored a Top 10 U.K. hit with their 1963 version, the Four Seasons brought it back to the American Top 20 the following year and Jackson Browne transformed it into a concert encore favorite on his acclaimed Running on Empty album in 1978, with David Lindley's soaring falsetto paying tribute to the original.

The song has also enjoyed an extraordinary second life on screen. It appeared in the 1978 film American Hot Wax, reached an entirely new generation through the blockbuster Dirty Dancing soundtrack in 1987 and has continued turning up in films and television ever since, including Shag, Jersey Boys, 11.22.63, An American Pickle and The Space Between.

Despite being remembered as a one-hit wonder, Williams left an outsized legacy. He also wrote "Little Darlin'," another rock and roll classic that became a massive hit after being covered by The Diamonds, and "Stay" has now been recorded by dozens of artists over the decades.

For a song that lasts only 98 seconds, its impact has proven almost impossible to measure. As music historian Fred Bronson put it in his "Billboard Book of Number One Hits, "'Stay' has proven to be an evergreen."

More than 65 years after first reaching No. 1, Maurice Williams' teenage plea remains every bit as irresistible as the night he first wrote it.

More than three decades after it first shocked fans, one of U2's boldest songs is getting its flowers all over again.

Following the release of the band's new single, "Street of Dreams," Rolling Stone revisited every lead single from U2's studio albums earlier this month—and ultimately named "The Fly" the greatest album opener in the band's legendary catalog.

Rather than simply ranking the group's biggest hits, the publication evaluated how effectively each song introduced the album that followed. "The Fly" came out on top.

According to Rolling Stone, the song earned the No. 1 spot because it marked a dramatic change for the band ahead of 1991's Achtung Baby. While safer choices like "One" or "Mysterious Ways" could have easily served as the album's first single, the group—which included Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mulllen Jr.—instead took a risk with a darker, stranger sound.

The publication described "The Fly" as a musical trailer for Achtung Baby, writing that it became "U2's first step into the Nineties, and it set the course for everything that followed."

Coming in at No. 2 was "With or Without You," the soaring ballad that helped propel U2 into stadium status and remains one of the band's most recognizable songs. "Pride (In the Name of Love)" rounded out the top three, earning praise for transforming Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy into one of rock's most enduring anthems.

The ranking arrives during a major year for the Irish rock icons. After nearly nine years between studio albums (the longest gap of their career) U2 recently returned with "Street of Dreams," the first taste of their upcoming record.

The band also received another prestigious honor in 2025 when they were named recipients of the Woody Guthrie Prize, which recognizes artists who use music to advocate for justice and social change. Announcing the award, the Woody Guthrie Center said, "U2 embodies the mission of the Woody Guthrie Prize, using music to confront injustice and inspire action."

We throw the word "timeless" around a lot, but in actuality, that is completely fair for a lot of the music that came out of the '60s and '70s. Many of their concepts are universally felt and understood, to the point that they make their way into modern media in unexpected ways.

TikTok is famous for this. People pluck songs from "obscurity" as background music to help convey a feeling or emotional connotation for whatever video is being shared, and then it becomes a trend. The most recent song making the rounds is the sullen, hauntingly beautiful tune "500 Miles" (also known as "500 Miles Away from Home" or "The Railroader's Lament"), sung by none other than folk icon Joan Baez.

While it inarguably sets the tone for a thoughtful, melancholic piece of content, the story behind it is equally as beautiful and tragic.

Hedy West, an American folk singer born Hedwig Grace West in Georgia, is largely credited with writing this forlorn tune.

West's story focuses on a railroader who is 500 miles from home, penniless, and too ashamed to return home broke. However, many feel it is just a metaphor for going through life and carrying general guilt and shame, not just financial struggles.

Like most folk artists, West was a bit of a cultural historian and wrote songs about her understanding of Appalachian culture, which was extremely impoverished and full of destitution, hard work, and untimely deaths.

As is common in folk music, it is reportedly a retelling of the original Appalachian song "900 Miles," another folk tune covered by Woody Guthrie and many others. It was believed to have even deeper roots, going back to the Southern United States in the 19th century.

West's original version came out in 1961 and had a country twang, but it was quickly covered by The Journeymen and the folk trio Peter, Paul, and Mary.

Just a few years later, Joan Baez's version came out on her live album in 1963. The song is considered among the most anthologized and has been covered by everyone from Johnny Cash to Justin Timberlake.

West was always considered a prolific songwriter. The Guardian reported in her obituary after her death in 2005 that, at the tender age of 12, she won a prize for ballad singing and, by her teens, was singing at folk festivals. She went to college in New York in 1959 to study music at Mannes College and drama at Columbia University, and fell heavily into the folk scene. Pete Seeger even invited her to sing with him at Carnegie Hall.

In her later years, she stopped performing due to damage done to her vocal cords by cancer.

While her work largely reflected the poor, average countrymen of the 1960s and 1970s, her music's soul remains relatable and applicable for many today.

We all know Hannah Waddingham for her killer wardrobe, incredible vocals and Emmy-winning performance in Ted Lasso. But wielding a sniper rifle? That’s a whole different ballgame.

And the actress is the first to admit that she wasn't exactly a natural.

Speaking exclusively with Parade, Waddingham confessed to having some serious day-one nerves when she first had to handle the weapon for Prime Video’s latest action-packed series, Ride or Die. It was a hefty, physical role for a streaming service, and the Game of Thrones alum felt anything but prepared when cameras started rolling.

Luckily, Waddingham had an incredible partner in crime by her side. Octavia Spencer joined her in tackling the grueling stunt training, and the two quickly became, well, ride or die. Between intense rehearsals and long days on set, the costars forged a real-life friendship that got them through it all.

Here’s what the duo had to say about bringing the high-octane action to life.

Waddingham’s Ride or Die character, Judith, is a highly trained assassin, a secret she keeps from her best friend, Debbie, played by Spencer. When a hit goes wrong, both women find themselves on the run.

When asked about the most challenging, unforgettable day the pair had on the fast-paced set, both actresses quickly responded, “Day one.”

“Day one, I was like, why is anyone trusting me with a sniper gun?” Waddingham quipped. “Am I really on top of a mountain? Yes, I am. And your brain's going, ‘Oh, my gosh, I can't.’”

The pressure felt intense to Waddingham, who’s never experienced such a demanding, action-heavy role before, but so did the excitement. “I'm so, like a little girl, thrilled to be actually standing on the top of a mountain shooting on something for Amazon,” she said. “And the other side of me is going, ‘I hope I don't let them down.’”

The nerves, the unknown and the drive to succeed while doing something different and out of her comfort zone were all part of what made the assassin role so enticing for the actress, however. “You’re doing things that you’ve never done before,” she explained. “And you have to just literally hold hands and just jump in.”

Both stars also discussed how the stunt training for Ride or Die was incredibly challenging, especially for Waddingham. When asked to elaborate, Spencer was quick to step in, pointing out that the combat scenes made everything more difficult for her co-star.

“It's a different thing when you have combat. And she [Waddingham] was in fights. And so…there's choreography that she had to learn. And as soon as she finished one, she was on to the next.”

Further complicating matters was the fact that Waddingham had to learn her lines, all while maintaining her hair, nails and appearance for the different scenes. With all the added pressure, Spencer said it was like “an 80-hour-a-week job squeezed into a 50-hour week.”

Waddingham agreed with her co-star, adding, “Even though…I was bracing myself for it, I couldn't have possibly braced myself enough.” 

At the end of the day, though, she said that she “didn't want to let anyone down.” To get through it, Waddingham said she “had to set the bar high…and just get into it, and not let it drop, even though it was knackering me senseless.”

Despite all the challenges the pair experienced while filming, Waddingham and Spencer said having each other on set made all the difference. Spencer was quick to point out that Waddingham was juggling an especially packed schedule, balancing stunt training (3-5 times a week) with filming, all while caring for her daughter, leaving little time to recharge.

Even so, the pair found small moments to connect, including dinners whenever their schedules allowed. More importantly, Waddingham said they created "a safe space" where they could support one another through the toughest scenes. 

"We've been burnished by flame," Spencer said, adding that the experience helped forge a bond that carried over onto the screen. "We made and created a safe space for both of us to thrive in…and to try things and fail, but always be supportive of each other. And I think that is what you see on the screen."

It may have been unintentional, but fans surely took an issue with it.

Rocker and co-founder of The Killers, Brandon Flowers, is being called out for a social media post promoting his new song, which fans believe takes a shot at legend Phil Collins.

"Back in October ‘89, Phil Collins took “Another Day In Paradise” from the working man," the post began, continuing, "This Friday the 17th, I’ll be returning it to its rightful owner."

The post also includes a cover photo for the single, called “Paradise,” which will be featured on his upcoming solo album, Thrasher.

"It’s unclear what Flowers means exactly in referencing Collins’ “Another Day in Paradise,” though the song was criticized when it was originally released for its depiction of people experiencing homelessness," ABC News wrote.

The comment section immediately lit up with questions and concerns.

"This has to be unintentional, but I find it hilarious that Phil Collins is catching strays for no reason," one wrote, as another expressed, "I'm baffled by this tagline. Another Day in Paradise was written and produced by Phil Collins. Is this an insinuation that Phil Collins did not write and produce Another Day in Paradise? Because, I'm sure he did."

"…this feels like a diss on Phil Collins… and I’m not liking that," someone else chimed in.

"I never ever thought i'd be siding with Phil Collins," one suggested, as another noted, "I love you Brandon but this is one of your stranger takes…"

There was definitely confusion on whether the track would be an original or a cover, "So is this a cover of that song or is that just a bit 😭either way excited.

One user seemed to understand the intention, writing, "I think he meant to say “Another day in Paradise” is a phrase coined by working class people. And Phil Collin’s used that for the title of his song," to which another replied, "and Brandon Flowers of all people will be returning it?"

Of the 1989 hit, Collins said it was inspired by his observations of homelessness, particularly after an encounter with an unhoused person while leaving the recording studio, per UDiscoverMusic.

Flowers didn't elaborate on his comment, but did share a tease of the soon-to-be-released tune the following day.

Flowers is focusing heavily on his solo music this year, pivoting to a country sound, having previously announced a solo headlining tour across the UK, Ireland and North America in support of his upcoming album.

However, The Killers will be making their long-awaited return to the Padang Stage for the first time in 8 years during the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix this fall.

Englebert Humperdinck is not only releasing a new album. The 90-year-old music icon is heading back out on the road for a world tour.

Humperdinck, 90, rose to stardom with hit songs like "Spanish Eyes" and “Release Me.” But the legendary crooner isn't slowing down anytime soon. The singer will release his highly anticipated new album Faithfully on August 28 via Cleopatra Records.

 “I am so grateful for my good friends Brian Perera & Tim Yasui of Cleopatra Records for coming up with the fantastic idea of this album & the music videos we did for it," Humperdinck said in a statement. "And I am really honored by all of the incredible, renowned musicians who joined on the tracks. And not, by any means last, I want to thank my producers Adam Hamilton and Pete Mills, plus our mixing engineer Jurgen Engler, for the tireless hours that went into this production.”

Humperdinck will also head out on a global tour to support the album.

Humperdinck recently opened up about the loss of his wife, Patricia, and how he recalled asking for his wife’s forgiveness after being unfaithful.

“She was my soulmate, an amazing lady who put up with a lot of things I’m not proud of. I always apologized for not being faithful,” Humperdinck told The Times, noting that “the dinner table can feel pretty lonely” without her these days. “She forgave me, and we stayed together. It brought us closer in fact. Will I fall in love again? Can’t see it happening.”

Humperdinck added that while Patricia’s death made him “angry,” he “came around in the end. God had his reasons.”

In addition to his work on the stage, the beloved singer has a significant following on social media, where he’s an avid user of TikTok and Instagram. Last June, he opened up there about how much he misses cruising the open road on his Harley.

“My Harley was on my mind. It’s been too long since I was out on the open road I need to get a gadget to strap my phone to my chest so you can come along with me. I used to love riding with my friends along PCH. Wonderful memories that are so strong that i can appreciate, feel the ocean breeze, and smell the salty air,” he shared in a stream-of-consciousness post without much punctuation.

In the course of Matt Damon's four-decade-long career, there haven't been that many roles that have forced him to drastically change his body. Two that come to mind are 1996's Courage Under Fire, where he lost 40 pounds, and The Informant!, which saw him gain 30. And of course, the Jason Bourne franchise, which he referred to as "brutal," when he discussed getting in shape for the fourth movie.

"I was on a very strict diet and spent a lot of time in the gym just making myself miserable," he told the BBC in 2016. So it's unsurprising that a decade later, the 55-year-old is happy that he lost weight for The Odyssey in a healthier way.

“You have to just be very, very intentional about everything you’re putting in your body," he told PEOPLE, revealing that he gave up gluten. “It was more about just getting really, really physically fit, which just really involves changing your diet, just a whole lifestyle change,” he said.

"I didn’t change it in an unhealthy way,” Damon said. "I think if I had done the opposite and put weight on, that would have been dangerous and it’s not something I’ll do anymore. I was happy to do it earlier in my life."

While he may not have any desire to gain weight for a movie role, he seemed perfectly content revealing that he got back down to a healthy 176 pounds -- his high school weight -- to play King Odysseus. Even though he didn't need to starve himself or buff up to play the character, Damon said that it was "by far the hardest movie to the most challenging movie I’ve ever been a part of."

Still, he said that he "loved every minute of it." And while it's already been getting critical acclaim, the best review he got came from his daughter.

"I have one daughter who’s really not reverential at all about [my movies href="https://parade.com/1222580/samuelmurrian/best-movies-all-time/"] and loves to give me s--t," the Good Will Hunting star said. "She saw The Odyssey, and at the end she actually turned to me and she said, ‘Dad, I’m proud of you.' She’s never said anything like that, because we joke around a lot. At that point I was kind of like, ‘I’m good. It was all worth it.'"

Morgan Wallen is back. Well, he never actually left, but the country singer's hit song, "Last Night," has suddenly re-entered Billboard's Streaming Songs chart as of Wednesday, July 15.

The track was originally released in January 2023 as part of his 3 Songs at a Time Sampler and was later included on Wallen's album, One Thing at a Time. By February 2023, the song found itself climbing music charts, debuting at No. 13 on the Billboard Streaming Songs chart. A month later, on March 18, the song reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and spent 16 non-consecutive weeks in that spot.

The song ended up becoming a massive hit and even broke records as it became the longest-running No. 1 song by a solo artist in the history of the Billboard Hot 100. And, perhaps The Tennessean said it best when the outlet dubbed the track the song of the summer in 2023.

The song, which has been streamed over 1 billion times on Spotify, was written by country hitmaker Ashley Gorley along with Ryan Vojtseak, Jacob Kasher Hindlin and John Byron. "Last Night" has relatable lyrics about two lovers who have a difficult conversation over drinks during their last night together—with the hope that the two will reconnect in the future. Couple the meaningful lyrics with a catchy tune and it's easy to see how Wallen hit the country music jackpot with that specific track.

"Last Night" spent an impressive 110 weeks on the Billboard Streaming Songs chart, and it's one of Wallen's most successful singles to date. In fact, it wasn't until May 2024 that he saw the No. 1 spot again (for the single "I Had Some Help"—a Post Malone track that featured the country superstar).

Wallen's had three other tracks hit No. 1 on Billboard: "I'm the Problem," "What I Want," and "Love Somebody," all of which spent more than 40 weeks on the Billboard Streaming Songs chart.

From Mariah Carey and Taylor Swift to legendary icons like the Rolling Stones and Elvis Presley, countless artists have topped the Billboard charts—but only one holds the record for the most No. 1 singles and albums.

Billboard released its list of which music acts have the most Billboard 200 and Hot 100 No.1s in history combined, with the winner at the very top, none other than the Beatles. Based on the charts to July 18, 2026, they concluded that the legendary rock band has surpassed other hit icons like Michael Jackson, Madonna, and even band memberPaul McCartney/Wings.

Since their start in Liverpool in 1960, the Beatles have been reported to have had 20 No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart during their career. As well as 19 No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 chart. In retrospect, the band released 12-13 albums during their run, with Billboard including a few hit soundtracks in their list.

Their list of No. 1 albums includes the very beginning with Meet the Beatles! and all the way up until Anthology 3. The last album was released in 1996 as a compilation and catalogs tracks from the final two years of the band, from the initial sessions for The White Album to sessions from Let It Be and Abbey Road in the late '60s to the start of 1970.

Their hit albums also include soundtracks to what many consider to be some of the best rock movies of all time, like A Hard Day's Night and Help! The soundtracks for the TV film Magical Mystery Tour and the documentary Let It Be are also included.

Die-hard Beatles fans can likely guess which No.1 hit singles are included on Billboard's list. After the release of their first-ever single, "Love Me Do," the Beatles would land their first chart-topping hit with  “I Want To Hold Your Hand” in 1963. The track and others would mark the British Invasion of the American music industry.

That same year, the Beatles would land their second No. 1 hit with “She Loves You,” and the Beatles would become one of the most famous rock bands in the world. A month after the Beatles announced their breakup, their Let It Be album was released and would yield their last No. 1 hit song, “For You Blue." The track was written by George Harrison as a love song to his wife, Patti Boyd, and became one of his most successful tracks as a solo artist and as a Beatles member.

Billboard's list ranks Swift at No. 2 behind the rock band with the most Hot 100 No. 1 tracks and No.1 albums. She holds the spot with 15 each on both charts.

Horror movies have dominated the box office this year, with original films like Backroomsand Obsession leading the charge and Hollywood taking a chance on young, Gen Z directors and new talent. While Backrooms was directed by 20-year-old Kane Parsons, Obsession is another example of this, with the film directed by 26-year-old Curry Barker.

Now, with films having shorter theatrical windows, they’re releasing earlier and earlier on streaming platforms. Just weeks ago, on June 30, Obsession was released on digital platforms such as Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV for purchase ($24.99) or rent ($19.99). Now, if you have a Peacock subscription, you can watch it for free! Obsession will be released on Peacock on Friday, July 17, just in time for a Friday night horror flick! 

Barker’s debut film follows Bear (portrayed by Michael Johnston), an awkward, shy and cowardly 20-something-year-old, who’s too scared to confess his feelings for Nikki (portrayed by Indie Navarrette). When he finds a one-wish willow toy in a trinket shop, he decides to break it, wishing for Nikki to “love him more than anyone else in the world.”  Nikki suddenly becomes dangerously obsessed, making their relationship fatal for everyone involved. 

After its release, this film proved itself successful, grossing over $427 million on a $750,00 budget. Plus, it is officially the highest-grossing original horror movie of this century, surpassing Sinners. In fact, the film was so popular that its theatrical window was extended. Originally intended for an 18-day window, the film ran in theaters for over 50 days, from May 15 to mid-July, with showtimes still available in select theaters.

So, what does this mean for the future of horror and Hollywood? Moviegoers certainly want to see more original films with fresh faces, produced and written by younger filmmakers. “I wish they [studios] understood that we’re tired of slop. We want good movies back. People are still hungry for movies that are original without some big IP, as long as the story is good,” Barker told The Hollywood Reporter. 

With Obsession being a standout film this year, it has already received several Critics' Choice Awards nominations for Best Horror Film, Best Actress in a Horror Film (Indie Navarrette), Best Actor in a Horror Film and Best Villain in a Horror Film (Michael Johnston). 

There’s even buzz about the Oscars, with fans hoping the film receives a few nominations. While horror traditionally hasn’t been taken seriously at the Oscars, with Jordan Peele’s Us receiving zero nominations and Get Out taking home only one Academy Award out of four nominations, horror fans still have hope. This year, Ryan Coogler's Sinners swept the Academy Awards, receiving four wins out of 16 nominations, while Zach Cregger's Weapons received one award and Guillermo del Toro's Frankensteinreceived three. So, who knows? Obsession may sweep the 2027 Academy Awards. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Barker teases the Oscars campaign, saying, “There’s going to be an awards campaign. I’m not sure exactly what that entails. I’m not trying to get my hopes up about it and stay focused on what I’m doing next.”

As for Obsession 2? Barker also shares those details with The Hollywood Reporter. "I don’t want to go straight into Obsession 2. I have such a cool idea for it that I won’t say. I’m not saying it has to be five, six years from now. But I think people would be just as excited for it if it came a little down the road. It’s a whirlwind and I’m trying to figure it out,” he says.

In 1977, Fleetwood Mac released their album Rumours and became one of the biggest bands on the planet.

Lindsey Buckingham's response? Spend $1 million making something their own record label didn't understand—something completely different.

The result was Tusk, released in October 1979. A double album. Twenty songs. Recorded in their own studio space at Village Recorder in Los Angeles over the course of a year. It sounded nothing like Rumours.

"If we had tried to make Rumours II, it would have been the beginning of what others expected us to do," Buckingham toldEntertainment Weekly. "By subverting that expectation, it allowed me to say, 'This is what's important to me.'"

What was important to him was Talking Heads and the new wave movement. Talking Heads were doing something Buckingham understood at his core: making music that was genuinely strange while impossible to ignore. He wanted to bring that energy to Fleetwood Mac. Nobody else in the band was quite as sure.

The title track captured exactly how far he was willing to go. On June 4, 1979, 112 members of the USC Trojan Marching Band showed up at an empty Dodger Stadium and recorded the song with Fleetwood Mac, creating one of the earliest major rock music videos ever filmed. It is one of the most unconventional things a mainstream rock band has ever done at the height of their commercial success. It’s also absolutely magnificent.

Tusk sold four million copies on release. Significant by any normal measure. Against Rumours, it felt like the floor had dropped out. The label was unhappy. Critics didn't quite know what to do with it. Some fans agreed.

Buckingham was unbothered.

Stevie Nicks had a difficult time supporting the new experimental direction. Those recording sessions were among the most difficult in the band's history. The creative partnership that had already survived the end of a romantic relationship was now pulling in opposite directions. Christine McVie was more open to where Buckingham was headed. That divide, between the two women who defined Fleetwood Mac's sound, made the Tusk sessions feel less like a band disagreement and more like a band starting to fall apart.

Buckingham pulled even harder. Eventually, he won.

Time has been kind to Tusk in ways the charts weren't. It's now widely considered one of Fleetwood Mac's best and most forward-thinking records, exactly the outcome Buckingham had been aiming for even if nobody else believed in him at the time.

"Not just the song 'Tusk,' but the album Tusk is probably my favorite album," he told Entertainment Weekly. "Not necessarily for the music, but for why we did it. It set me off on this alternative path that was a tightrope to walk between the big machine of Fleetwood Mac and the small machine of solo work that followed."

The solo work that followed covered decades. In February 2019, Buckingham underwent emergency open-heart surgery that damaged his vocal cords. His recovery took years, but he kept working anyway. His eighth solo album is currently one song away from being done.

The first fully authorized Fleetwood Mac documentary, directed by Frank Marshall for Apple Original Films, is also expected in 2026. It will feature new interviews with all four surviving core members, including Buckingham and Stevie Nicks.

Most significantly, Buckingham and Nicks, who stopped speaking after his dismissal from Fleetwood Mac in 2018, have found their way back to one another. They put out their pre-Mac album Buckingham Nicks again in 2025. In March 2026, Buckingham told Rolling Stone: "I believe with all my heart, it will translate to something good, and something wonderful, and something needed and something extremely appropriate."

The woman who found Tusk the hardest album to make and the man who pushed those musical limits are finding their way back to each other.

In January 2026, Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide," from the same era as Tusk, debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time at number 41, pulled there by its use in Stranger Things. A song from 1975 found a new audience fifty years later. The catalog is still alive.

Tusk cost over a million dollars, divided a band, and sold a fraction of what came before it. Lindsey Buckingham still considers it the best thing Fleetwood Mac ever did. Nearly fifty years on, he has a new album coming, a possible reunion with the woman who found it hardest to make, and a documentary that will tell the whole story.

The tightrope he described is still there.

Keeping up with this week’s trend, Groen finished DJ with a runaway lead over his opponent, racking up $38,000 opposed to Marin and Rizzuti’s $4,400 and $3,200, respectively. 

It also helped that Groen was one of the 2 contestants who answered FJ correctly, adding a whopping $22,067 wager to his daily winnings for a total of $60,067. Marin also answered correctly, with a wager of $2,001, for a second-place total of $6,401. Meanwhile, Rizzuti did not get it right, wagering $1,201 and dropping to a third-place total of $1,999. 

Groen will be back on Thursday for attempt number 11.

In May, director Matt Reeves revealed that Scarlett Johansson and Sebastian Stan would be joining Robert Pattinson in the cast of The Batman: Part II. But despite the casting announcements and the film being in active production, it’s been delayed until 2028.

The Batman: Part II was originally set to release in theaters on Oct. 2, 2026. Warner Bros. first delayed it until Oct. 1, 2027, and now has pushed it to Feb. 18, 2028. The release date comes six years after the opening of Reeves’ The Batman in March 2022.

When the film was first delayed, DC Studios co-chief James Gunn explained that big-budget movies often have gaps between movies.

“To be fair, a 5-year gap or more is fairly common in sequels,” Gunn wrote on Threads. “7 years between Alien and Aliens. 14 years between Incredibles. 7 years between the first two Terminators. 13 years between Avatars. 36 years between Top Guns. And, of course, six years between Guardians Vol 2 and Vol 3.”

The new release date was announced at the end of a camera test from The Batman: Part II that Reeves shared on Vimeo and Instagram. The clip shows Pattinson wearing the Batman cowl, turning to face the camera as police lights blink in the background and snow falls around Gotham. While fans were excited to see the new footage, most expressed disappointment with the 2028 release date.

“It was all good until I saw the date,” one fan commented.

“Why’d you delay it Matt. Explain yourself Matt,” another joked.

While plot details for The Batman: Part II remain under wraps, the film has been co-written by Reeves and Mattson Tomlin. The role of Johansson hasn’t been announced yet, but Stan confirmed that he will be playing Two-Face.

When speaking to Deadline at the Cannes Film Festival, Stan revealed that he will play the iconic Batman villain and will travel to London over the summer to work on the film.

“I’m excited, I’m nervous and trying to keep surprising myself,” Stan said when talking about working with the sequel’s hair and makeup team.

Some of his best-known compositions include Alabama's "Old Flame" and "Back Where I Come From," which was written and originally recorded by McAnally before becoming a signature hit for Kenny Chesney. McAnally also recorded "Down the Road" before it became a No. 1 duet with Chesney, and he co-wrote "Southbound," later recorded by Sammy Kershaw and other artists.

McAnally also wrote Conway Twitty's "It's My Job" and Shenandoah's "Two Dozen Roses."

His songs have been recorded by a who's who of country music stars, including Reba McEntire, Ricky Skaggs, Hank Williams Jr., Toby Keith, and many more.

Mac McAnally remembers Jimmy Buffett in the circle 😌

Though McAnally has collaborated with many of Nashville's biggest names, one of the most significant chapters of his career began when he joined Jimmy Buffett's Coral Reefer Band in the 1990s, launching a prolific partnership that lasted for decades.

The limited-time offering starts at $14.99 for a large one-topping pizza, and fans are already jumping for joy at the news. Papa Johns took to Instagram to announce its return with a video of someone enjoying a slice of pepperoni pizza, dipping it into the brand’s iconic garlic sauce, and then showing that the slice in question was actually from the returning pie. They then tore the crust in half, showing a melty cheese pull with the caption, “making an EPIC comeback.” 

“The Pepperoni Stuffed Crust is coming back?” asked one commenter, as others wrote, “Stuffed crust?!??!” and “I cried.”
