These 8 ’90s Snacks Quietly Disappeared—Do You Remember Them?

Wed, 05/27/2026 - 5:41am

Growing up in the '90s really felt like living through one of the greatest eras ever. It was a time when cartoons actually felt iconic, commercials were unforgettable and snack aisles in grocery stores felt like treasure hunts every single weekend. Back then, brands weren’t just dropping products. They were creating moments and memories that somehow stayed with us long after the last bite. That’s why so many discontinued snacks from the '90s still have people talking decades later. One random photo online or a late-night conversation can instantly unlock memories of racing home after school, grabbing your favorite snack and sitting in front of the TV without a care in the world.

What makes it even more surreal is seeing how nostalgia has completely taken over pop culture recently. Brands are finally realizing people never forgot about these classics. We’ve already watched the return of fan favorites like Trix Yogurt, Dunkaroos and even Altoids making their way back into conversations and store shelves again. And honestly, every comeback feels like a small time machine for people who grew up during that era. The '90s created snacks that weren’t just popular. They became part of childhood culture. Even now, you may still be holding onto hope that more legendary favorites will eventually make a return to shelves so you can experience them all over again.

8 Discontinued ’90s Snacks

The '90s gave us some of the most unforgettable snacks ever created. Back then, grocery store aisles felt packed with creativity, bold flavors and fun packaging that made every trip feel exciting. Whether it was fruit snacks shaped like sharks or cookies dipped into frosting during lunch, these snacks became part of everyday childhood memories for an entire generation. Unfortunately, many of those iconic favorites eventually disappeared from shelves, leaving us constantly hoping for a comeback. Even decades later, people still talk about these discontinued snacks online like lost legends.

Here are eight discontinued '90s snacks that still deserve a second chance today.

1. 3D Doritos

If you grew up in the '90s, you already know 3D Doritos weren’t just chips. They were an experience. The crunchy puffed version of classic Doritos felt futuristic at the time, and they instantly became one of the coolest snacks in every school lunch. Whether you grabbed the Nacho Cheese or Jalapeño Cheddar flavor, opening a bag felt different from regular chips. Their unique texture made them addictive and honestly ahead of their time. When they disappeared from shelves in the early 2000s, fans never really let them go. For years people begged for a comeback online because no other chip truly recreated that same crunchy, airy bite.

2. Dunkaroos

Dunkaroos were basically the MVP of '90s lunchbox culture. The combination of tiny cookies and sweet frosting somehow made snack time feel elite as a kid. Whether you carefully dipped each cookie or overloaded it with frosting until it almost snapped in half, everybody had their own method. The kangaroo mascot, colorful packaging and birthday cake flavor made Dunkaroos feel fun in a way modern snacks still try to copy today. When the snack quietly disappeared in the United States during the 2010s, people instantly realized how much they missed them. The nostalgia around Dunkaroos became so massive that their eventual return felt inevitable for longtime fans.

3. Fruit String Thing

Fruit String Thing felt less like a snack and more like edible entertainment growing up in the '90s. Kids would spend more time peeling apart the colorful strings than actually eating them. The wild fruit flavors, bright packaging and interactive design made them unforgettable inside school cafeterias and after-school snack cabinets. There was something oddly satisfying about slowly unraveling every strip before taking a bite. Once they disappeared from stores, they quickly became one of those forgotten '90s snacks people randomly remembered years later. Even today, longtime fans still talk about how no modern fruit snack has managed to recreate that same fun experience.

4. Fruitopia What Was Your Favorite Fruitopia Flavor?
by u/Djf47021 in 90s

Fruitopia perfectly captured the colorful energy of the '90s. The fruit drink brand exploded in popularity thanks to its vibrant flavors, psychedelic commercials and eye-catching vending machines that seemed to be everywhere at one point. For a lot of kids and teens, grabbing a bottle of Fruitopia after school felt just as important as picking a snack. The drinks had unique flavor combinations that stood out from traditional sodas and juices at the time. However, despite its massive popularity during the decade, the brand slowly disappeared from most stores in the United States. Even now, many '90s kids still remember Fruitopia as peak nostalgia in bottled form.

5. Butterfinger BB's

Butterfinger BB’s were one of those snacks that instantly became part of '90s culture the second they hit stores. Instead of the traditional candy bar, these came as bite-sized balls packed with that crunchy peanut butter flavor people loved. They were perfect for movie theaters, road trips and sneaking into school lunches. A huge reason they became legendary was because they felt fun to eat while still delivering the same classic Butterfinger taste. Once they disappeared, fans spent years begging for a comeback online. Even now, people still talk about them like a lost treasure from the golden age of '90s candy and snacks.

 6. P.B. Crisps

P.B. Crisps were dangerously addictive for peanut butter lovers during the '90s. The small shell-shaped snacks filled with creamy peanut butter somehow tasted like a mix between cookies, crackers and candy all at once. Planters created something that honestly felt impossible to stop eating once the bag was opened. The peanut-shaped design also made them stand out from every other snack on shelves at the time. Even though they disappeared years ago, P.B. Crisps have maintained one of the loudest cult followings online among discontinued snacks. Fans constantly beg for their return because nothing currently available captures that exact sweet and salty peanut butter flavor combination.

7. Philadelphia Cheesecake Snack Bars

Philadelphia Cheesecake Snack Bars felt like one of the most underrated desserts of the '90s. The refrigerated cheesecake bars created the perfect mix between rich cheesecake and classic ice cream truck energy. For kids growing up during that era, they felt fancy compared to the usual frozen snacks sitting in the freezer aisle. The creamy texture and crunchy coating made them unforgettable after just one bite. Once the bars quietly disappeared from stores, people kept bringing them up in nostalgia conversations online for years afterward. Even now, many fans still consider them one of the greatest discontinued desserts of the entire decade.

8. Shark Bites Fruit Snacks

Shark Bites Fruit Snacks completely dominated the fruit snack category during the '90s. The ocean-themed gummies instantly stood out because every kid hoped to find the rare white shark inside the pack. Somehow that single mystery gummy made snack time feel competitive in elementary school cafeterias everywhere. The chewy texture and fruity flavors made them addictive, but the branding is what truly made Shark Bites unforgettable. They weren’t just fruit snacks. They became part of childhood culture for an entire generation. Although different versions have appeared over the years, longtime fans still argue the original '90s Shark Bites formula and experience were impossible to replace.

Why Some ’90s Snacks Are Returning

The return of so many classic '90s snacks proves nostalgia is more powerful than ever. Brands are finally realizing people don’t just miss the taste; they miss the memories attached to these products. From after-school routines to lunchbox trades to late-night snack runs, these foods became part of growing up for an entire generation.

Social media has also helped fuel demand by constantly reviving conversations around discontinued favorites people still crave today. While some legendary snacks have already made successful comebacks, plenty are still missing in action. Hopefully, companies continue listening because there are still countless '90s classics we would love to see return to store shelves again.

1976 Soft Rock Hit, Written for Band’s Debut Album, Became a Timeless Love Anthem Despite Never Hitting No. 1

Wed, 05/27/2026 - 5:40am

In 1976, Firefall released what would become their career-defining hit with “You Are the Woman.”

The breezy, easy-going single from the band’s self-titled debut album featured romantic lyrics about finding “the one” and a flute interlude performed by band member David Muse. Clocking in at under three minutes, “You Are the Woman” was a simple song of courtship, perfect for ‘70s AM radio.

“You Are the Women” became Firefall’s highest-charting single, peaking at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100. It remains a timeless love anthem 50 years later, but it didn’t get love from songwriter Rick Roberts’ bandmates at first.

Bass player Mark Andes once told the Songfacts Podcast, "The band did like a collective eye roll because it was so obvious, so syrupy and formulaic. We knew it was going to be hugely successful, but we resisted. I remember feeling like, "Oh God, really?"

Despite the band's hesitation, “You Are the Woman” was highly requested on ‘70s radio and became Firefall’s signature song.

In the book Brands That Rock, Firefall founding member Jock Bartley recalled, "Every female between the ages of 18 and 24 wanted to be the woman portrayed in the song, and that caused their boyfriends and spouses to call radio stations and subsequently flood the airwaves with dedications of the song and the sentiment. The message was simple and sincere, and the song was easy to sing. It was like our fans let us be a singing version of the  Hallmark card that said what they weren't quite sure what to express."

The soft rock song also wasn’t completely representative of Firefall’s sound. Speaking with Classic Bands’ Gary James, Bartley noted that the band “got so much saturation airplay” on AM radio at the time, and their record company wanted more.

“They wanted us to be ‘You Are The Woman.’ They wanted ten ‘You Are The Woman’ on a record,” he shared. “We were a rock band that would have two or three ballads or love songs that Rick Roberts wrote, these kind of formula ballad love songs.”

“We do a wide range kind of stuff,” he added.

In an interview with Rewind It Magazine, Bartley admitted that the song pigeon-holed Firefall. “That song is kind of white bread pop music and isn’t a ‘rock’ song,” he said, noting that Firefall got the reputation of being a “light poppy band” with a few hit love ballads. “But we’re a diverse rock band with ‘folk rock’ and ‘country rock’ roots,” he added.

Still, the band, which is still active and headed by Bartley, has no qualms about being identified by “You Are the Woman” 50 years later.

"I've been playing 'You Are The Woman' for 40-plus years, and we are so lucky to have a hit song that is that big,” Bartley told Songfacts. “That song has kept me working for 40 years and has kept Firefall together, so I'm happy to play it."

1966 Brian Wilson Classic Was Nearly 50 Years Old When The Beach Boys Put Their Own Spin on It

Wed, 05/27/2026 - 5:36am

Few albums are as closely tied to Brian Wilson’s creative genius as the LP Pet Sounds.

However, one of the record’s most beloved tracks actually began life decades earlier, long before the Beach Boys transformed it with their signature harmonies. The only non-original song on the album hailed from author Richard Le Gallienne’s 1917 novel Pieces of Eight as a Bahamian folk song.

American Songwriter reported that the tune was originally named "The John B. Sails." Following its inclusion in the Le Gallienne novel, Carl Sandburg, poet and biographer, included the lyrics in his 1927 folk compilation, The American Songbag.

Subsequently, the song was recorded by The Kingston Trio in 1958 with the title “(The Wreck of the) John B.” Following, versions were recorded by Johnny Cash (1969), Lonnie Donegan (1960), and Jimmie Rodgers (1960). By the time Wilson discovered the song, it was almost 50 years old.

Rolling Stone named the tune one of 25 Essential Brian Wilson Songs in a comprehensive list, published in 2025. They wrote, "Wilson warmed to the song, giving it a sprightly arrangement full of flutes that showcased his brilliance as a studio maestro."

In an interview published on the band's official YouTube channel, Wilson and Al Jardine discussed the song.

Jardine said, "The first seminal influence that began to take shape for Pet Sounds in that year was the recording of 'Sloop John B.'"

Wilson added, "Al Jardine brought over the lyrics. He played me the song, and he goes, 'Can you arrange it?' I said sure, so I arranged it with the Kingston Trio. We took it and adapted the arrangement."

Jardine concluded, "It began to develop pretty incredible dimensions of harmonies and production values that we were starting to see from Brian."

He later said in the album's liner notes, "I did was sit down and play it for him in the Beach Boys idiom. I figured if I gave it to him in the right light, he might end up believing in it."

"The very next day, I got a phone call to come down to the studio. Brian played the song for me, and I was blown away. The idea stage to the completed track took less than 24 hours."

Color Psychologist Says These 5 Favorite Colors Are Loved by ‘Especially Creative’ People

Wed, 05/27/2026 - 5:17am

Many of us are inherently drawn to certain colors, and this is especially true for creative types whose careers often revolve around visual choices. There are five favorite colors that are especially common amongst creative people, says Michelle Lewis, a color psychology expert and author of Color Secrets. She's also the founder of The Color Institute and ColorAnalysis.com, which help people across industries use color to their benefit.

"Research has shown that certain colors directly support the kind of relaxed, expansive mental state where creative thinking thrives," says Lewis, adding, "You don't accidentally stumble into flow in a chaotic, visually aggressive environment. You cultivate it."

She has seen the color choices cultivated in recent years leaning towards a sense of tranquility, even as our world seems to be speeding away from that.

"Cross-referencing color trends across film, fashion and interior design over the past two years with Gallup's global emotional data, which has tracked world stress at record highs, a clear pattern is emerging," she tells Parade. "The world's most creative people are reaching, almost universally, for calm... because in a world that is overwhelmed and overstimulated, calm is the creative act."

And, according to Lewis, there are several specific colors that reflect that creative desire for serenity.

What Does Color Psychology Say About Creativity and Artistic Individuals?

Lewis explains that creative people are "wired for sensitivity" and that "color psychology tells us that this sensitivity shows up directly in their color choices." When examining creative work, wardrobes and spaces, she believes that their color choices "are rarely accidental."

She adds that those looking to unlock their own creativity can start by examining the colors around them.

"Are they working for you or against you? Because your nervous system already knows the answer," she notes. "Color psychology just gives you the understanding to implement it."

Is There a Link Between Creativity and Color Preference?

Lewis says that the connection between color preference and creativity "is more biological than most people realize."

"Color preference among creatives is less about what looks good and more about what works, what regulates [and] what opens the mind rather than closes it down," she adds.

Currently regulating the creative space are colors that evoke "the kind of calm" that makes creativity possible, she states.

5 Favorite Colors of Creative People, According to a Color Psychologist

Tony Anderson/Getty Images

1. Green

"In a world running on empty, [green is] the color of balance and regeneration," says Lewis. She cites the Elphaba greens of Wicked and Charli XCX's neon green BRAT album as recent creative examples. The passion for green stretches into our current timeline as well, with Behr's color of the year for 2026 being a smoky jade.

Related: Color Psychologist Says if Your Favorite Color Is Green, You Likely Have These 7 Traits

2. Blue

According to Science Daily, a 2009 study from the University of British Columbia found that tasks completed on blue computer screens produced more creative outputs, and Lewis says the color is closely linked to creativity.

"Blue is the color that creates the internal conditions where creative thought actually happens," she shares. She says that it's been shown to help "by slowing the nervous system just enough to let original thinking surface."

She adds that the hue "has anchored film palettes and fashion runways consistently, because creatives know blue is how you access your mind in a noisy world."

3. Orange

"Orange is the color creatives reach for when they want to invite people in," Lewis tells Parade.

The hue has gotten even more attention in recent years, with Pantone's 2024 color of the year being "Peach Fuzz" and trend forecaster WGSN naming "Energy Orange" as a key trend color for 2027.

Lewis says that orange "doesn't just energize the person using it; it changes the energy of everyone around them."

4. Purple

"Purple dominated graphic design, branding, film and interior design throughout 2024 and 2025," states Lewis. She adds, "Creatives understand what it does; it pulls an audience into a deeper experience of the world."

In 2025, she notes that PPG Paints named "Purple Basil" the color of the year. And MarthaStewart.com proclaimed purple as the interior design trend of 2025—plus, who could forget Olivia Rodrigo making it her signature color for her first two albums?

Lewis says purple is often used to "represent something just beyond the ordinary—exactly where the most creative minds live."

Related: Color Psychologist Says if Your Favorite Color Is Purple, You Likely Have These 7 Traits

5. Red

Lewis says that in 2025, red was the most popular color used across 25,000 logo designs, per the design platform Looka. And that's seemingly intentional.

"Creatives don't reach for red passively," she notes. She calls it "a declaration," aka a color choice for "when they're ready to make something that demands to be seen."

Related: Here's What Every Mood Ring Color Actually Means, According to a Color Psychology Expert

Are There Specific Colors Linked To Repressed Creativity?

The antithesis to creativity is "when color disappears entirely," says Lewis. She adds that "colorless, visually flat environments measurably suppress cognitive performance and emotional engagement."

Indeed, research from Istanbul Technical University found that "the absence of color affects emotional well-being and physiological responses."

"The deeper issue is... when people are cut off from color, in their environment, their wardrobe, their creative spaces, their learning—they're removing one of the most powerful neurological activation tools available to the human brain," Lewis explains. "Creativity doesn't thrive in a vacuum. It needs stimulus, warmth and signal. A life drained of color is quietly draining our creative potential."

I’ve Been On 50+ Cruises—These Are The 5 Best Weeklong Sailings To Book Right Now

Wed, 05/27/2026 - 5:10am

Cruising is one of my favorite ways to vacation. From the moment I board the ship, nearly everything is taken care of and included in the price. Additionally, I love that I just have to unpack once, and someone else takes care of the logistics of getting from point A to point B. And while short cruises have gained popularity over the past few years, I love a weeklong cruise where I can truly unwind, experience everything the ship has to offer, plus spend plenty of time ashore exploring new and favorite ports of call.

If you’re thinking about taking a weeklong cruise, then you’re in luck, because I’m sharing my favorite weeklong itineraries, ranging from family-friendly Caribbean destinations to beautiful Mediterranean sailings that take you to some of the most stunning parts of the world.

Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Treasure to the Eastern Caribbean “Disney The Tale of Moana” brings Moana’s adventurous tale to life for the first time on stage.

Disney Cruise Line

My most recent cruise was an Eastern Caribbean itinerary on the Disney Treasure, and it was the perfect weeklong cruise from Florida. Onboard, the Disney Treasure has so much to do, from incredible dining (hello, Plaza de Coco), spellbinding shows like "Disney The Tale of Moana," and of course, the chance to see Disney characters. I also loved that there was a ton for adults to do without kids, from game shows and nightly music to adult-only dining and a beautiful spa. And don’t worry, the kids were well taken care of in the kids' clubs, which feature spaces inspired by Marvel, Star Wars, Mickey Mouse and more.

The Eastern Caribbean itinerary took my family and me to the islands of Tortola and St. Thomas, where we spent some time at the beach in both places. In St. Thomas, we also booked a snorkeling excursion, where we saw hundreds of fish, turtles and stingrays. Additionally, we stopped at Disney’s private island,Disney Castaway Cay, which is known for its exceptional beaches and family-friendly activities.

Princess Cruises’ Star Princess to Alaska Star Princess will make its way to Alaska for the first time in 2026.

Princess Cruises

The newest ship in the Princess Cruises fleet is Star Princess, and even better, the ship is sailing around Alaska this summer and next. The ship mainly sails seven-day inside passage cruises that are round-trip from Seattle, Washington. Along the way, you’ll stop at Ketchikan, the Dawes Glacier, Juneau and Skagway in Alaska, plus Victoria, Canada. After sailing to Alaska last summer, I definitely understand why it’s a must-visit for people. From the incredible wildlife viewing to once-in-a-lifetime experiences like landing on a glacier via helicopter, Alaska offers cruisers so much to do.

Onboard Star Princess, guests will find delightful entertainment, an abundance of food offerings and more. One thing you cannot miss is Spellbound by Magic Castle, an immersive experience where cocktails and magic shows come together in one unique show that’s worth the extra cost.

Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Beyond on Caribbean Cruises The Sunset Bar is a fun spot to hang out on Celebrity Beyond.

Celebrity Cruises

Celebrity Cruises is known for its upscale yet inviting ships that offer a plethora of things to do. One of my favorites is Celebrity Beyond, a stunning ship with 32 restaurants and bars, parties nearly every night and jaw-dropping entertainment around every corner. During the day, the pool is the spot to be, but as night falls, the Sunset Bar has an incredible view of the ship’s wake and sunset over the horizon. And of course, there’s the central Grand Plaza, which acts as the ship’s main hub, featuringCelebrity’s iconic martini bar.

Celebrity Beyond sails all around the Caribbean on seven-night itineraries. Some offerings include stops at San Juan, St. Maarten and Perfect Day at CocoCay, while others stop in the Bahamas and Mexico. Since there are so many Caribbean itinerary options, the real question is, where do you want to go? Are you looking for somewhere familiar where you can visit old favorites, or are you looking for a week of exploration at new destinations?

Royal Caribbean’s Legend of the Seas, Royal Caribbean to the Western Mediterranean Legend of the Seas

Royal Caribbean

Later this summer, Royal Caribbean’s newest ship, Legend of the Seas, will take its maiden voyage around the Western Mediterranean. The ship is packed with all of the fun that Royal Caribbean is known for, from deck parties and water parks to mini golf and the over-the-side-of-the-ship Crown’s Edge ropes course. The entertainment on the ship is also unmatched, with "America’s Got Talent LIVE!," dueling pianos and a Broadway-caliber take on "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: The Musical."

The Western Mediterranean itineraries start in either Rome, Italy or Barcelona, Spain. No matter which port you start from, you’ll visit picturesque destinations like Naples, Italy; Provence, France; Palma de Mallorca, Spain; and Florence, Italy. One of my favorite ports is Provence, where you can stay in Marseille or take an excursion to towns a little further away, like Aix-en-Provence, which is one of my favorite places in France.

MSC Cruises’ MSC Euribia to Northern Europe The MSC Euribia is sailing through the scenic waters of Flåm Harbour in Norway.

MSC Cruises

If you’ve ever wanted to cruise through Norwegian fjords and postcard-worthy villages, you’ll want to book a weeklong cruise with MSC Cruises on MSC Euribia to Northern Europe. Onboard, you’ll find five pools, a water park, 10 restaurants, 21 bars and lounges, and one of the largest big bands at sea for evening entertainment. When I sail with MSC, I always opt for the upgraded Yacht Club experience, which includes MSC’s concierge-level cabins and suites and comes with exclusive perks like expedited embarkation, a dedicated restaurant and lounge, 24-hour butler service, and full access to the spa’s thermal suite.

On Northern Europe itineraries, the ship departs from either Copenhagen, Denmark, or Kiel, Germany, and visits a handful of places in Norway, including Hellesylt, Flaam and Alesund. This itinerary is great for those looking for a more adventurous cruise, where hiking and nature tours are abundant.

Taylor Swift Sends 'Insane' Gift to Young Fan After Seeing Her Go Viral on Social Media

Wed, 05/27/2026 - 4:31am

Taylor Swift has created yet another "truly special" memory for one young fan and her neighbor that the two will likely "cherish forever," and Swifties are praising the "wonderful example" she's set for humanity with the "heartwarming gesture."

Natalie Hulec recently shared a video of her 8-year-old daughter, Madeline, and the girl's creative attempt to catch her neighbor's, Ethan Hayes, attention, going viral last month with a TikTok video that documented the way Madeline constructed a paper airplane with a note written across it, thrown over their shared fence to request Hayes, who she heard singing and playing his guitar in the backyard, play a song by the superstar.

He was quick to grant her request and broke into "Love Story," despite not knowing all of the words, with Madeline's sweet voice accompanying him all the way from inside her own home as they listened through the window.

The original video garnered nearly half a million likes, and drove new fans to Hayes' platform, too—with many more requests coming in for covers of the "Fortnight" singer's songs.

It also made its way to Swift's For You Page, and the singer quickly put together a gift package for Hayes and Madeline, sending them each a handwritten letter with their care package.

Her team reached out for his address on the social media platform, instructing, "Don't tell anyone until it gets there." He assumed she'd be sending "a signed poster or something," but the pair got brand-new signed guitars, "which is insane," the musician told People in a new interview.

Hulec's mother also shared a photo of the letter her daughter received, which reads, “Dearest Madeline, I just wanted to let you know that it made me SO happy that you asked your neighbor to play my song for you. You brought the biggest smile to my face! I’m sending you your own guitar, in case you ever want to learn too! And sending you my love! Thanks again! Taylor."

Taylor Swift gifted an autographed guitar and handwritten letter to a young fan:

Fans were gushing over the "heartwarming gesture," praising the singer-songwriter for "always [being] so incredibly thoughtful with her fans."

"Sweetest thing Ive ever seen omg," one commenter wrote, while another emphasized, "Uh!! I LOVE TAYLOR!! She’s such a wonderful example to HUMANITY! ❤️🙏😘."

"This is so beautiful 🥹," someone else agreed. "Taylor turning a little fan’s love for her music into a memory they’ll cherish forever is truly special 🤍🎸."

"That's so sweet of her. Bet that kid will never forget this moment. Taylor always seems to go the extra mile for her fans," the praise continued, with a final fan admitting, "this healed something in me."

Swift is often applauded for her generosity, from impressive bonuses for football stadium employees to passing out cash to awards show staff.

One fan also made it a point to shout out Hayes, writing, "Of all the jerks who could’ve said 'ew, no!' He did the coolest thing possible for that little girl and got rewarded big time. So cute."

American Airlines Announces New High-Speed Wi-Fi It’s Calling the ‘Fastest in the Sky’

Wed, 05/27/2026 - 4:10am

Whether you’re a remote worker desperately trying to clear your inbox or just a casual vacationer trying to stream a show, slow inflight Wi-Fi has always been one of the absolute worst parts of flying. Fortunately, the world's largest carrier is officially stepping up to change the game.

American Airlinesjust announced a sweeping modernization of its narrowbody inflight customer experience with the installation of Starlink, which the carrier is proudly calling the "fastest Wi-Fi in the sky."

View this post on Instagram

Engineered by SpaceX, the low-Earth-orbit satellite network is designed to deliver a blazing-fast, at-home level of broadband gate to gate. The multi-gigabit upgrade will roll out across more than 500 narrowbody Airbus aircraft, including upcoming A321XLR and A321neo deliveries beginning early 2027.

Related: You'll Soon Have At-Home Quality Wi-Fi on Delta Flights Thanks to a New Amazon Partnership

Capable of delivering up to 1 Gbps per antenna, the upgraded network ensures passengers on domestic and short-haul international flights enjoy a lag-free experience.

“As a premium global airline, we are continuously seeking out world-class partners like Starlink to deliver what our customers need and want,” said American Airlines Chief Customer Officer Heather Garboden. “Starlink’s high speed and low latency make the Wi-Fi more reliable, which matters when customers are trying to load pages, join real-time collaboration tools or stay connected consistently throughout a flight.”

How Competitors Are Responding to the Wi-Fi Wars

American’s move to introduce Starlink comes at a time when free onboard internet is quickly transitioning from a premium luxury into a basic expectation. Through its Delta Sync rollout presented by T-Mobile, Delta already offers fast, free Wi-Fi on over 1,000 of its domestic and international aircraft.

You don't even need to be T-Mobile customers to use it; you simply log into the onboard portal using a free Delta SkyMiles account to instantly unlock full streaming, browsing and messaging capabilities. Delta recently announced that it will partner with Amazon LEO for the next generation of internet on hundreds of its jets beginning in 2028.

Other major carriers are moving just as fast to capture remote workers and casual browsers alike:

  • JetBlue: Long the pioneer of free inflight internet, JetBlue continues to offer its signature "Fly-Fi" completely free to every single passenger from the moment you board to the moment you land. Starting in 2027, JetBlue will also partner with Amazon LEO to power its next-generation inflight internet.
  • United Airlines: United has also hopped on the free internet wave, announcing its own Starlink rollout. The airline has already begun activating the ultra-fast satellite service on select flights, making it entirely free for its MileagePlus members. On flights still utilizing older satellite networks, United charges members $8 and non-members $10.
  • Southwest and Alaska Airlines: Both carriers have expanded their partnerships with T-Mobile to offer free texting and premium streaming-quality internet passes, while actively upgrading their fleets to next-generation satellite hardware to handle heavy data loads.

With airlines increasingly dropping paywalls and upgrading to low-latency satellite networks, the era of paying $20 for painfully slow airplane internet is finally coming to a close.

This '70s Top 10 'Monster Hit' Was Originally Much Too Short to Release

Wed, 05/27/2026 - 4:00am

In the height of his popularity, "Peace Train" singer Cat Stevens, born Yusuf Islam, had only ever made it as high as a No. 6 hit with his myriad singles, with 1972's "Morning Has Broken" becoming the first of his tracks to reach that slot (two years later, "Another Saturday Night" would tie it).

But, the beloved folk track, which was born from an English hymn of the same name, was far too short to release at first. It was a touching salute to a new day that the singer-songwriter stumbled upon in a hymn book while looking for new ideas. "It was quite a traditional song sung in the church, and I just did my own arrangement," he once told Billboard. "I fell in love with the melody and the words, and people think it’s mine."

Penned in 1931 by author and poet Eleanor Farjeon and set to an old Gaelic melody called "Bunessan," the track praises the "recreation" of a new day by detailing the wonder in the simple things like a bird's song or the dew on the grass.

In its original state, it barely hits 45 seconds long, though Stevens' demo managed to stretch it out a fair bit. Still, producers didn't feel there was enough to it for a record, and he called in some big guns to help flesh it out into the classic fans know and love—and mistake for his—today.

Stevens had already invited keyboardist Rick Wakeman to play on the album that housed "Morning Has Broken," Teaser and the Firecat, and leaned on him for not only a spiced-up piano backing, but a little restructuring to build it into the hit it would become.

They started by repeating the first verse at the end, which bumped the run time up to about a minute and ten seconds. Then, Wakeman wove his composition throughout the verses, and they threw in a couple of key changes for good measure. By the time Wakeman was done "sticking in" various bits and pieces, as he recalled during a speaking engagement, they had a "monster, monster hit" that clocked in at over three minutes long—a perfectly respectable length for a Top 10 single.

Singer Who Replaced Lindsey Buckingham in Fleetwood Mac Turns 68

Wed, 05/27/2026 - 3:07am

Neil Finn, the acclaimed singer-songwriter behind Crowded House and Split Enz who later joined Fleetwood Mac after Lindsey Buckingham’s departure, turns 68 today.

Born May 27, 1958, in Te Awamutu, New Zealand, Finn became one of rock music’s most respected songwriters over the course of a career that has now spanned nearly five decades.

Finn first rose to prominence after joining Split Enz in 1977 alongside his older brother Tim Finn. Over time, he became one of the band’s primary creative forces, writing many of their best-known songs including “I Got You,” “History Never Repeats” and “Message to My Girl.”

After Split Enz disbanded in the 1980s, Finn formed Crowded House, the group that would bring him international success with hits like “Don’t Dream It’s Over” and “Weather With You.” The band’s melodic songwriting and emotionally reflective lyrics helped make Crowded House one of the defining soft-rock acts of the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Radiohead guitarist Ed O’Brienonce hailed Finn as popular music’s “most prolific writer of great songs.”

In 2018, Finn unexpectedly entered another chapter of rock history when he joined Fleetwood Mac after the band fired Lindsey Buckingham ahead of a major world tour.

At the time, Fleetwood Mac announced that Finn and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell would replace Buckingham during the tour.

“Two weeks ago, I received a wonderful invitation to be a part of a truly great band,” Finn said in a statement to Rolling Stone at the time. “A few days later, I was standing in a room playing music with Fleetwood Mac. It felt fresh and exciting.”

Fleetwood Mac drummer Mick Fleetwood also praised the chemistry between the musicians, saying the band knew it had found “the right combination to go forward with in Fleetwood Mac style.”

Years later, Finn admitted he was initially stunned by the invitation.

“I was gobsmacked,” Finn told MOJO magazine in 2024. “I was 60 and I’d had a wonderfully diverse musical life when Mick called and said, ‘We’ve got rid of Lindsey, would you play with us?’”

Finn ultimately toured with Fleetwood Mac from 2018 until the band effectively ceased activity following Christine McVie’s death in 2022.

Over the decades, Finn has continued building a reputation as one of rock’s most admired songwriters, with a catalog spanning Split Enz, Crowded House, Fleetwood Mac and an extensive solo career that continues today.

Quote of the Day: Social Psychologist Amy Cuddy on Being a ‘Truly Confident Person’—‘Does Not Require Arrogance'

Wed, 05/27/2026 - 2:45am

Having high self-esteem is easy for some people, while others struggle, either because of their inherent personality, trauma they experienced or other issues; it’s just harder for some people. However, social psychologist Amy Cuddy has done a lot of research on self-assurance and improving confidence.

She’s a big believer in “power posing,” which is a technique or “hack,” as she calls it, for getting into a more fearless headspace and ultimately making someone more certain of themselves by just standing in powerful positions. And while some doubt this theory—per the TED Talk website—her overall concept and research about finding your “presence” aims to help people find morale in themselves. Our quote of the day by Cuddy simply asserts what being a confident person means, and how it is far from being arrogant.

As Cuddy’s website reports, she got a PhD from Princeton University in 2005 and went on to work as a full-time professor at a few prestigious universities such as Rutgers, Harvard and Northwestern. She wrote a New York Times bestselling book, Presence, and is coming out with another book in 2027 about adult bullying. Overall, her work revolves around “stereotyping and prejudice, nonverbal behavior,” along with “presence and performance under stress,” per her website.

With all of her research and knowledge about self-improvement and how to work well under stress, today’s quote really hits at what confidence is and what it isn’t.

Related: Quote of the Day: Stoic Philosopher Seneca on ‘The Power of the Mind:’ ‘To Be Unconquerable’

Quote of the Day by Amy Cuddy

CanvaPro/Parade

“A truly confident person does not require arrogance, which is nothing more than a smoke screen for insecurity.”

Cuddy wrote this quote in her 2015 book, Presence: Bringing Your Boldest Self to Your Biggest Challenges. The opening line of this book’s description reads, “Learn the simple techniques you'll need to approach your biggest challenges with confidence.”

Essentially, it’s all about how to build your own “personal power” so that you can approach difficult situations with strength and self-assurance. And instead of suggesting spiritual journeys or gimmicks, Cuddy’s approach involves scientific research and “tweaks” to your body language, behavior and mindset.

In addition to this book, Cuddy’s 2012 TED Talk, “Your body language may shape who you are”—the third most-viewed TED Talk of all time, per her website—introduces the concept of “power posing,” which she also references in her book. She argues that, in the same way that body language can often tell a lot about a person, it can also influence how others perceive you. "Power poses" are her “free no-tech life hack"; she theorizes that changing your pose into a strong one can impact how confident you appear, and therefore how confident you end up feeling.

Related: Quote of the Day by Lou Gehrig: 'I Love the Thrill of Victory, and I Also Love the Challenge of Defeat'

Deeper Meaning of Amy Cuddy’s Quote—Confidence vs. Arrogance

While similar or in a similar vein to each other, confidence and arrogance are two very different things. Having confidence in yourself is about being sure of your abilities, being happy with your appearance or proud of your skills. Arrogance comes with a pompous air about it; you think you're better than others.

Arrogance is directly related to other people (and how you see yourself above them), whereas confidence is about how certain you are of yourself, regardless of what other people think.

So what Cuddy is saying here is that if you’re actually a confident person, you are self-assured in a positive way and you have faith in yourself. And true certainty in yourself does not include arrogance, because that’s not actually confidence. As her quote says, arrogance is all a show; it’s a way to fake that certainty.

Gaining confidence is easier said than done. And there are so many ways for you to achieve that in yourself. But Cuddy’s quote is a good first step in realizing that if you’re going around with an exaggerated opinion of yourself, all pompous and smug, then your “confidence” isn’t true self-assurance—it's likely insecurity.

More Quotes from Amy Cuddy
  • “Preparation is obviously important, but at some point, you must stop preparing content and start preparing mindset. You have to shift from what you’ll say to how you’ll say it.”
  • “Don't fake it till you make it. Fake it till you become.”
  • “focus less on the impression you’re making on others and more on the impression you’re making on yourself.”
  • “A confident person—knowing and believing in her identity—carries tools, not weapons.”
  • “Our bodies change our minds, our minds change our behavior, and behavior changes outcomes.”
  • “All changes… have their melancholy; for what we leave behind us is a part of ourselves; we must die to one life before we can enter another.”

Walmart's 'Sturdy' $76 Arched Metal Trellis 4-Pack Looks Like It Came From a Storybook Garden

Wed, 05/27/2026 - 1:01am

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

If you’ve been loving the look of English cottage gardens lately, a trellis is one of the easiest ways to bring that same charm home. Designed to support vertical growth, they add height and structure to your outdoor space while making the most of every inch. From flowering vines like morning glories to edible climbers like peas and berries, trellises are beneficial whether they’re used for decoration or growing food.

One charming option that’s currently on sale at Walmart is the Costway 71-inch Metal Garden Trellis 4-Pack. The trellises are designed with an arched silhouette and delicate butterfly detailing that brings a retro-inspired touch to any garden. The set is a fantastic deal right now at just $76, down from $179. There’s also a two-pack version for $43.

The set comes with four trellis panels, and each one measures 20 inches wide by 71 inches tall — giving climbing roses, cucumbers, sweet peas, and other vines plenty of room to stretch upward. Made from galvanized steel, the trellises are rustproof and weather-resistant, so they’re built to handle the elements all season long. They also feature pointed ends that push easily into the ground for extra stability, and shoppers said the interlocking design makes setup surprisingly easy.

Reviewers said the sturdy design really delivers. One shopper used the trellises for blueberries and blackberries and said they got “berries galore,” adding that the panels felt “nice and sturdy.” Another called it a “great sturdy trellis,” while a third who ended up ordering a second set said it was “well worth the price.”

Another reason gardeners are loving them? The versatility. You can arrange the panels in a straight line for a classic garden trellis look, or fold them into an A-frame shape for heavier plants that need more support. If you want to create a larger garden wall or custom setup, you could even invest in multiple sets to build the structure you’re envisioning.

Today's NYT Connections Sports Puzzle for Wednesday, May 27, 2026 / New York Times

NEW YORK TIMES

What Is Connections Sports Edition?

Connections Sports Edition is just like the regular Connections word puzzle, in that it's a game that resets at 12 a.m. EST each day and has 16 different words listed. It's up to you to figure out each group of four words that belong to a certain category, with four categories in total.

This new version is sports-specific, however, as a partnership between The New York Times and The Athletic.

As the NYT site instructs, for Connections Sports Edition, you "group sports terms that share a common thread."
