'90s Screenwriter Whose Career Spanned 38 Years Dies at 64

Wed, 04/08/2026 - 7:38pm

Arne Olsen, the screenwriter behind many popular 1980s and 1990s films, died on Saturday due to complications with cancer. His wife announced his death to Deadline on Wednesday. He was 64 years old.

At the age of 21, Olsen moved from his home in Vancouver to Los Angeles to pursue a career in screenwriting. After graduating from the American Film Institute, he landed his first screenwriting job in 1988 on the action-thriller Red Scorpion, followed by the comedy film Cop and a Half.

Since then, he has credits in various films, including Black Ice, Final Round, Red Scorpion 2, All Dogs Go To Heaven 2 and the television movie, Escape from Atlantic. His latest film was Distorted in 2018, which starred John Cusack and Christina Ricci.

One of Olsen's most popular films was Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: The Movie, which was the first installment in the Power Rangers film series. In an interview with Farrand on Film that was conducted in April 2022, he explained his writing process and prior knowledge he about about the franchise.

"I just watched a bunch of shows and it's not that complex. I think it is now because there's been so many iterations of it," he explained. "I was just watching a bunch of episodes and writing things down, sort of like traits and stuff like that [for the] characters."

The 1995 movie follows the teenagers with attitude as they face Ivan Ooze (Paul Freeman), an ancient villain released by Lord Zedd, who destroys their Command Center and powers. It also stars Karan Ashley, Johnny Yong Bosch, Steve Cardenas, Jason David Frank, Amy Jo Johnson and David Yost.

In addition to his screenwriting, Olsen served as a mentor to rising writers and was a member of the WGC and WGA. He also taught at Capilano University and Vancouver Film School. Olsen is survived by his wife, Dianne, and his two children: Ryan and Alyssa.

Cameron Diaz To Star In A Sequel To This 1980s Cult-classic Film

Wed, 04/08/2026 - 7:27pm

Cameron Diaz is coming for Beverly Hills.

Reported by Deadline on Wednesday, the outlet confirmed that the 'Charlies Angels' icon is set to be starring in the sequel to the 1989 film, "Troop Beverly Hills."

While the outlet noted that "details are under wraps," when it comes to what the plot of the sequel will entail, it'll be directed by Clea DuVall. Diaz will also produce the film along with Laurence Mark and Katherine Power. The 'The Holiday' star and Powers have collaborated before as the two went into business in 2020 to launch Avaline, an organic wine brand.

The original film starred Cheers icon Shelley Long as an unlikely leader to her daughter's troop of Wilderness Girls. However, the activities that Long's character, Beverly Hills socialite Phyllis Nefler, conjures up for the girls are far from any traditional scouting endeavors. The film also starred Tori Spelling and actor-turned-director Betty Thomas.

"Phyllis is quite a gal," Long told Entertainment Tonight in a 1988 interview, ahead of the film's release. "She isn't embarrassed to be feminine and to enjoy feminine things...she has a great time in life everywhere she goes, she's not really a snob although she has very expensive taste. I think she finds the richness in anything she does, including being a scout leader."

While Diaz stepped back from acting in 2014 following the release of "Annie" starring Jamie Foxx, she returned to acting in 2022, and reunited with Foxx, for the Netflix film "Back in Action." Coming up, Diaz will be starring in Jonah Hill’s new Apple TV+ dark comedy film "Outcome," out on April 10th, and later this year she'll be stepping back into her role as Fiona in 'Shrek 5', 25 years after the original film was released.

While it's unknown what exactly Diaz's role for the camp classic film's sequel will comprise of, or when it will be released, we can only hope for some Phyllis-inspired beauty montages and maybe a new "thrilling" song to learn.

Kids Steal the Spotlight at Masters Par 3 Contest in Heartwarming Tradition

Wed, 04/08/2026 - 7:20pm

As golf fans impatiently await the start of the Masters, there’s an annual tradition that some may enjoy more than the four-day tournament. Whether you watch the sport or not, the Par 3 Contest is a can’t-miss afternoon of family fun led by some of the most doting dads/athletes.

What is the Masters Par 3 Contest?

If you’re not already acquainted with the Par 3 Contest, it’s always held the day before the Masters begin at Augusta National. So this year, the players treated fans to a couldn’t-be-cuter contest on Wednesday, April 8th. Why do we think this contest is particularly cute? It’s not the players that got our attention. It’s their kiddos! Don't worry if you missed the baby-filled broadcast. The Masters Instagram page now has more than one carousel of aww-dorable pics.

View this post on Instagram

That’s right—this pre-tournament day of fun features a nine-hole competition where the players’ families (including wives/girlfriends/partners, children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews) get the chance to act as caddies. And yes, it’s absolutely as adorable as it sounds.

Which golfers had children in the Par 3 Contest?

Caddie jumpsuit-clad kiddos flocked to the green, following their famous fathers around. In past years, Tommy Fleetwood’s son, Frankie, stole the show. It looks like this year is no different. Last season, the little boy became a viral sensation after missing a shot but maintaining his composure in a post-contest interview, telling fans that he was “Just trying my hardest.”

View this post on Instagram

In a new  interview posted to the Masters website on Wednesday, the eight-year-old shared his thoughts about returning for another year of golfing fun: “Honestly, I feel excited about it.” The younger Fleetwood added, “Still nervous, but I still have a chance. Everyone has a chance.” While he made a valiant attempt to carry Ike’s Pond yet again, sadly, the ball did not make it over the water. But the resilient kiddo spoke with optimism after his missed shot, “The Masters is a great Tournament, the par 3 is my favorite, and probably this is my favorite hole…I nearly got it, a few inches maybe.”

View this post on Instagram

Of course, plenty of other kiddos got in on the golfing action. Rory McIlroy’s daughter Poppy, Justin Thomas' daughter Molly Grace, Russell Henry’s son Robert, Bernhard Langer’s granddaughter Stella Rose, Gary Woodland’s son Jaxson, Jordan Spieth’s son Sammy and daughter Sophie, Scotty Scheffer’s son Bennett, Max Homa’s son Cam, Sergio Garcia’s daughter Azalea, Harry Hall’s daughter Lilah, Jon Rahm’s daughter Alaia, Keegan Bradley’s sons Cooper and  Logan, Sergio Garcia’s son Enzo, Brandon Holtz’ son Baker and daughter Millie, Sam Burns’ son Bear, and Maverick McNealy’s daughter Adeline (snuggled into a baby carrier on mom, Maya McNealy) all made adorable appearances and previous (or at times, precocious) moments.

1987 No. 1 Hit Ranked Among 'Best Hair Metal Songs of All Time' Became a Powerful Anthem for Starting Over

Wed, 04/08/2026 - 7:07pm

When you've been singing along to a song for years and know every lyric by heart, it can be hard to imagine there was ever a time when the tune had different words. The fact is, though, lots of hit songs go through all kinds of changes before they make it to the top of the charts...and that was the case with Whitesnake's classic 1987 number one, "Here I Go Again."

Originally, the headbanging ode to heartbreak appeared on the 1982 Whitesnake album Saints & Sinners, but as singer David Coverdale told Ultimate Classic Rock, he was never satisfied with it.

"Saints & Sinners was what I called my contractual-obligation album,” he said. “I refused to finish that album until my manager at that time was more reasonable in our divorce proceedings. I’d never really had a full complement of musicians to finish that record.”

As it turned out, Coverdale would get the chance to record the song again. Whitesnake's lineup had changed by 1987, with only Coverdale remaining. He wanted to re-record the song "Crying in the Rain" for Whitensake's 1987 self-titled album, and label head David Geffen agreed...on one condition.

“It’s doing deals,” Coverdale explained. “Once they said, ‘Let’s do ‘Here I Go Again,’ I said, ‘I’ll do that if I can do ‘Crying in the Rain.’ That was the purpose of that.”

Taking "Here I Go Again" back to the studio gave Coverdale the chance to update the lyrics, changing the original “like a hobo I was born to walk alone," with "like a drifter." The singer was apparently concerned that the word “hobo” would be mistaken for “homo." (Is a "hobo" really born to walk alone, David? Please explain.)

Otherwise, the lyrics are a sort of tribute to the power of starting over again after a relationship falls apart:

"No, I don't know where I'm going / But, I sure know where I've been / Hanging on the promises / In songs of yesterday / An' I've made up my mind, / I ain't wasting no more time / Here I go again / Here I go again"

The single was released in the summer of 1987 and went on to peak at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 on Oct. 10 of that year, where it stayed for one week.

How Tawny Kitaen became 'the Whitesnake woman'

Part of the reason why the song blew up was because of the sensational music video, of course, which was all over MTV for years. The clip, featuring actress/model Tawny Kitaen (who was Coverdale's girlfriend at the time) dancing provocatively on top of two cars, helped define the "hot girls, wheels and guitars" era.

Claudia Schiffer was supposed to be ‘the Whitesnake woman,’ when she was the Guess Jeans girl," Coverdale told Heavy Consequence in 2019.

"But that fell apart near the actual shoot," he continued. "And I was taking Tawny out for dinner, when (video director) Marty Callner called me, and said, ‘You have to stop by, we have problems.’ We went to his house on the way to dinner, he opened the door, his jaw hit the floor — as you know, Tawny was an absolute beauty — and he said, ‘That’s her! She’s the Whitesnake woman!’ And I said, ‘Marty, this is a friend of mine. She’s an actress.’ And she said, ‘No David, I’m happy to do it!’"

Clearly Callner made the right decision.

'Jeopardy!' Champion Jamie Ding Is on a Winning Streak—Here’s How Much He’s Won So Far

Wed, 04/08/2026 - 7:00pm

Jamie Ding is on a hot streak, with his 19th consecutive win in the bag, as of April 8.

The Jeopardy! Season 42 champion is racking up wins and turning heads in the trivia world with each passing episode.

As his total winnings climb higher, audiences are glued to the screen, becoming more and more invested in seeing just how far he’ll go and how much in winnings he’ll amass.

While his exact total continues to rise, his impressive run, with strategic gameplay and buzzer speed, has already put him on the radar of longtime Jeopardy! viewers and made him a formidable competitor.

Does he have what it takes? Will he secure a place among the show’s all-time top winners?

How Much Has Jamie Ding Won So Far?

Ding, a bureaucrat and law student from Lawrenceville, New Jersey, who loves to wear the color orange, started his run on March 13, 2026, and has since amassed an impressive total in earnings.

As of April 8, he currently stands at $539,573 in total winnings, despite a heart-pounding game that nearly ended his run.

His latest winnings place him well above many recent champions, and put him in a tie with David Madden and Jason Zuffranieri for the 8th-longest win streak since the five-game limit was lifted in 2003, though he hasn’t yet reached the elite tier dominated by the most recognizable names in Jeopardy! history like Brad Rutter, Ken Jennings, and James Holzhauer.

And his winning streak is a reminder of how thrilling the show can be when a contestant hits their stride. Ding officially crossed the $500,000 milestone mark, scoring his 18th consecutive win, on April 7, 2026.

Per the official Jeopardy! Leaderboard of Legends, Ding has already ranked in the number 10 spot in consecutive games won (as of April 8), and in the 7th spot in highest winnings in regular season play, outside of tournaments, with CinemaBlend noting that to reach 6th place, he has to move past Mattea Roach's $560,983.

The outlet also stated that Ding's big Daily Double and Final Jeopardy! wagers seemingly suggest he wants to end Holzhauer's domination of Single-Game winnings, which is ambitious, as he currently holds all of the Top 10 spots on the list. In order to make the list, Ding needs to win $89,229.

On March 20, he qualified for the next Tournament of Champions with a five-day total of $131,802, with host Jennings stating, per TVInsider, “He survived with the win and is now a five-game champion, headed to the Tournament of Champions."

So, while he still hasn't cracked the Top 10 in All-Time winnings, we shouldn't count him out just yet.

Ding is making his own history on Jeopardy! and making the season must-watch television for game-show fans everywhere.

Freida McFadden Fans Are Shocked as ‘The Housemaid’ Author Reveals Real Name

Wed, 04/08/2026 - 6:53pm

Many Freida McFadden fans knew that this was a pseudonym. It’s never been a secret that she wears a wig and avoids many public author events to protect her identity. One thing her fans didn’t expect was to learn her real name.

The Housemaid author, who recently made the news thanks to her announcement of her new novel on April Fools’ Day, has pulled down the curtain, as she decides “it’s time.” Will this bring an end to the joke that McFadden and British author John Marrs are the same person?

It’s Time to End the ‘Hannah Montana’ Lifestyle

In an interview with USA Today, McFadden revealed that her real name is Sara Cohen. While many have questioned whether the glasses are part of her Superman-style disguise, she does actually wear them. It’s the hair that is definitely a wig, with her sharing that it’s because she has “no idea how to style [her] hair.”

For the longest time, fans have tried to get her to share her real identity, feeling like they were living a real-life Hannah Montana story. They would question if she was real or if she was different men. She and Marrs would feed into it in a fun way through a Facebook group for psychological thriller fans, as both are highly active.

McFadden’s coworkers did find out that she was the author of the unforgettable thrillers, including The Housemaid and Ward D, and they kept that identity a secret. She would bring books into the hospital she worked at, and that’s when the cat was let out of the bag.

Why Freida McFadden Hid Her Real Identity

The reason for her double life was simple: protecting her main job. When she first started writing, she was a doctor in a hospital. While she has stepped back from doing that full-time, she still treats some patients with brain disorders, and she originally wanted to keep her identity secret for as long as she needed to protect her patients. Now that she only works a couple of times a month at the most, she’s able to be more open.

One thing she asks is that her fans still view her as Freida. Nothing else about her as changed, and that’s pretty true. Fans were aware that she was a real doctor and that was why she was hiding her identity. Cohen is just Clark Kent to McFadden’s Superman.

Adrian Grenier Adresses ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ Snub With Rare and Unexpected Move

Wed, 04/08/2026 - 6:41pm

In less than a month,The Devil Wears Prada 2will finally hit the big screen. However, the sequel to the 2006 mega hit film will be missing at least one key cast member.

Entouragestar Adrian Grenier, who played Nate, the boyfriend of Anne Hathaway's character Andy in the original film, will not be appearing in the movie.

After the trailer for The Devil Wears Prada 2 dropped and Nate was noticeably absent, there was plenty of buzz about Grenier not being asked back for the sequel.

🎬SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox🎬

The actor decided to address the "snub" head-on in the most unexpected way—a Starbucks commercial.

Teaming up with the coffee giant was a treat for fans, while allowing him to cheekily give his take on Nate’s absence inThe Devil Wears Prada 2.

Grenier kicked off the new commercial for Starbucks Energy Refreshers by making it clear that he's not holding any grudges after not being asked back for the highly-anticipated project.

"You might of seen the headlines. I wasn't asked to be part of a certain sequel," he began in the clip.

Then, almost as if he was trying to convince himself, he expressed, “But I’m good. Really. It’s all good energy,” a quick nod to the Starbucks drink.

It's then revealed that he's chatting to the barista, who is holding his drink and seems rather confused by the exchange, responding, "Okay."

Grenier then turns to the customers sitting inside Starbucks and gives a toast to his alter ego, even admitting what all The Devil Wears Prada fans know—Nate wasn’t the best guy, and he certainly wasn’t the greatest boyfriend.

“He made a mean sandwich, he loved his girlfriend, to a point. He wasn’t perfect. So let’s leave Nate in 2006, and keep this good energy going,” he confesses as he takes a seat in the cafe.

The entire ad appeared to be a cathartic experience, though Grenier joked that he was free, if a call or request for Nate to return ever happened.

In March, Grenier told Peoplemagazine he was disappointed he wasn’t asked to appear in the sequel. Grenier confirmed he had spoken with director David Frankel and learned that, since Nate was somewhat controversial, they opted to leave him out.

Fans will recall that Andy and Nate were not together when The Devil Wears Prada ended. However, that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t have been nice to see Nate pop up in the upcoming movie so fans could see what he's up to now.

All in all, Grenier’s taking the snub in stride and even found a way to have fun with it.

The Starbucks ad is a rare appearance for the actor who left Hollywood and currently lives life out of the spotlight in Texas.

As for the rest of Runway, The Devil Wears Prada 2 hits theaters on Friday, May 1.

On This Day in 1986, Clint Eastwood Changed Professions — But Only Temporarily

Wed, 04/08/2026 - 6:39pm

First he was a cowboy. Next, there was Dirty Harry the cop. Then, real-life Clint Eastwood turned to... politics?

These days, the move is not exactly unheard of, and Wednesday, April 8 marks 40 years since the Oscar winner, 95, was actually elected mayor of Carmel-by-the-Sea, a village in California.

In 1986, Eastwood racked up 2,166 votes over incumbent Mayor Charlotte Townsend's 799, Carmel's official website reports. Fellow actor-turned-politician Ronald Reagan even phoned in his congratulations at the time.

The Million Dollar Baby helmer is said to have chalked up solid accomplishments for his adopted hometown during his two-year term, including spearheading the construction of Carmel library's Park Branch annex and children's library, as well as the addition of public restrooms on the city's famed Carmel Beach.

In the decades since his mini political reign, Eastwood won multiple Academy Awards for his western film Unforgiven (1992) and later directed movies that simply dominated the box office (looking at you, American Sniper). In addition to Million Dolly Baby, Gran Torino (2008) was another modern drama film that saw him in the director's chair, in addition to starring.

Cut to 2026, and the Hollywood icon turns 96 next month. Reports say he has quietly stepped away from the industry, and a source close to Eastwood says the transition has been entirely intentional. “His filmmaking days are finally over,” the source exclusively told Closer Weekly in an article shared April 3. “Clint’s main hobbies now are playing piano and making art for himself.”

According to the source, Eastwood has been splitting his time between homes on the California coast and Hawaii, far from the Hollywood circles he once was a part of. “He’s retreated to his beautiful homes far away from Tinseltown, and he doesn’t seem interested at all with saying a grand goodbye or even looking back on the library of unforgettable films he has made,” the source noted. “Being famous doesn’t mean anything to him anymore.”

1966 Rock Ballad Named One of the 'Best Songs of All Time' Became an Anthem of Bittersweet Love

Wed, 04/08/2026 - 6:37pm

The Beach Boys are known for a number of hits featuring their signature upbeat surf-rock sound, but there's one slowed-down number that has become a timeless love song.

The band's 1966 ballad "God Only Knows" is one of their most beloved songs, earning a spot on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time in 2011, where it was ranked #11. It was released as the B-side track to their smash hit single "Wouldn't It Be Nice," off their renowned Pet Sounds album.

🎬SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox🎬

"God Only Knows" wasn't the group's biggest song on the U.S. charts, peaking at #39 on the BillboardHot 100. It also reached #21 on the Hot Rock Songs chart, while making it all the way to #2 on the U.K. Official Singles Chart in August 1966.

View this post on Instagram

Featuring heartfelt, bittersweet lyrics written by Beach Boys founder Brian Wilson in collaboration with advertising copywriter Tony Asher, paired with tender vocals from Carl Wilson, "God Only Knows," has gone down in history as a stunning song for all forms of love.

It's no surprise that it is frequently included on wedding playlist roundups, and is even named on The Knot's list of suggestions for the emotional father-daughter dance at wedding receptions. Time Out magazine also has "God Only Knows" ranked at #23 on their list of the 30 Best Love Songs of All Time, published in January.

Even several other songwriters and successful music artists have expressed their appreciation for the Beach Boys ballad, including Paul McCartney, who previously described "God Only Knows" as the "greatest song ever written." The Beatles icon also said in a 2007 interview for BBC Radio 1 that it's "one of the few songs that reduces me to tears every time I hear it."

1973 Rock Classic Became a Timeless Party Anthem

Wed, 04/08/2026 - 6:35pm

With a title like "Beer Drinkers & Hell Raisers," it's no surprise that ZZ Top's 1973 hit is still considered a party anthem. In April 2026, Ultimate Classic Rocknamed the song, off the 1973 album, Tres Hombres, as the number 1 beer-themed song to listen to on National Beer Day, observed on April 7.

The song, which was covered by Motörhead in 1977, details a rowdy bar, full of music and fights. The tune's rocking guitar riffs interrupt the narrator's attempt to persuade their "baby" to go to said establishment.

Billy Gibbons Shared How Much He Appreciates 'Tres Hombres'

ZZ Top's guitarist Billy Gibbons, now 76, revealed he thinks Tres Hombres is the band's "defining" album in an interview with Classic Rock Revisited.

"Would have to say Tres Hombres was a real turning point when it came out in '73. We're pretty religious -- pun somewhat intended -- about performing the 'Waitin' for the Bus/Jesus Left Chicago' medley, the first two tracks on the album, in every one of our concerts. 'Beer Drinkers & Hell Raisers' describes who's on stage and in the audience and, come on, 'La Grange' is on it. Talk about a 'defining moment!'" said Gibbons in the interview.

In a 2023 interview with AXS TV, Gibbons shared that his bandmates Elwood Francis and Frank Beard also love Tres Hombres, which was ZZ Top's third studio album. In addition, he noted that fans also think highly of the record.

"It's rather remarkable that this particular record, not only is it a favorite of between me Frank and Elwood, everybody seems to think that this was one of the standout releases from ZZ Top," said Gibbons in the 2023 interview.

Gibbons also said he has a fondness for the art inside the album.

"Check out the Mexican food spread inside. It's worth the price of admission," quipped Gibbons while speaking to AXS TV.

1977 Hit Ranked Among 'Most Depressing Rock Songs Ever' Became a Timeless Ode to Lost Love

Wed, 04/08/2026 - 6:30pm

For anyone going through a rough time romantically, Fleetwood Mac's classic 1977 album Rumours is definitely one of the most relatable records in rock history. And it's no wonder: Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham were in the process of breaking up, as were Christine and John McVie, and pretty much every song on the album is a reflection of the band members' personal relationship turmoil...but one is particularly sad, in its own kind of way.

Written solely by Christine, the ballad "Songbird" seems to be a sort of contemplation on the lasting nature of love (even, perhaps, when things don't work out):

"For you, there’ll be no more crying /For you, the sun will be shining / And I feel that when / I’m with you / It’s alright, I know it’s right"

On the one hand, "Songbird" could definitely be seen as an optimistic take on the end of a relationship, or the story of a romance that turns into a different kind of love...but that didn't stop Far Out from ranking the tune among the "most depressing rock songs ever."

Christine, who died in 2022, always maintained that "Songbird" wasn't about any one person.

“It doesn’t really relate to anybody in particular; it relates to everybody,” she said in a 2017 interview with Uncut. “A lot of people play it at their weddings or at bar mitzvahs or at their dog’s funeral. It’s universal. It’s about you and nobody else. It’s about you and everybody else. That’s how I like to write songs.”

As she explained on various occasions, the song popped into Christine's head in the middle of the night in a burst of unexpected inspiration.

“I woke up in the middle of the night and the song just came into my head,” she told The Guardian in 2016. “I got out of bed, played it on the little piano I have in my room, and sang it with no tape recorder. I sang it from beginning to end: everything.” She added, “I can’t tell you quite how I felt. It was as if I’d been visited. It was a very spiritual thing. I was frightened to play it again in case I’d forgotten it.”

McVie called producer Ken Callait first thing the next morning so she could record the tune before she forgot how it went, and the rest, as they say, is music history. Fleetwood Mac often closed live shows with Christine at the piano, playing the song alone. According to American Songwriter, Mick Fleetwood once said "Songbird" is the song he wants played at his funeral, to send him off "fluttering."

‘Age of Attraction’: Andrew’s Unseen Big Reveal With Another Woman

Wed, 04/08/2026 - 6:26pm

The first season of Age of Attraction followed Andrew Wheeler and LibbyVodicka, showing interest in each other. However, they had many differences. Andrew, 39, has two daughters who are about to be teenagers. Libby, 22, made a lot of jokes to avoid being vulnerable in their conversations.

But there was a love triangle we didn't see. Netflix released deleted scenes on Tudum. Andrew's date with another woman had an important reveal.

Who Did Andrew Date on ‘Age of Attraction’? Ashley Wottring in 'Age of Attraction' Season 1.

Lindsay Siu/Netflix

Turns out Andrew was interested in Ashley Wottring early in the season. They sat in the woods together in a deleted scene on Tudum. This was the first time they had talked since the mixer.

"Libby has been fun," he told Ashley, 38. "I feel like my connection with her is a little bit different than like, my connection with you." He said things were calming and chill with the business owner. Ashley said she has only been in love once and he asked why it didn't work out.

"I am a virgin that has been waiting for marriage," she told the father. "And I get that's different. I get that's probably weird. I understand it's not for everyone. I don't expect the person I'm with to have done that either."

She said her ex couldn't handle that. "And the hard part for me was that he called me selfish for doing it," Ashley revealed. She hopes to find a man who respects her decision.

Andrew thanked her for telling him. He called her "sweet" and "sincere." Andrew said he could be OK with being with a virgin. Ashley walked away feeling good about the situation.

They talked again on another day. Ashley said he had the best reaction so far to her decision and thanked him. She was ready to commit to doing the process with him. Andrew revealed he had a stronger connection with Libby, and she said that's OK.

Everything worked out in the end. Libby and Andrew said they are making their long-distance relationship work at the reunion close to a year after filming. If he had picked Ashley, the cameras wouldn't have followed them because their ages are close.

We Asked 3 Chefs the Best Thing To Make With Canned Beans, and They All Said the Same Thing

Wed, 04/08/2026 - 6:25pm

When it comes to pantry staples, there's nothing more versatile than a humble can of beans. They're loaded with fiber and protein, generally pretty cheap, and for the most part, only require a few additional ingredients to make them taste amazing. You can use them to supplement meals, flavor them millions of different ways and even enjoy them straight out of the can. Not to mention, canned beans can last in the pantry for years, making them the perfect item to keep on hand, you know, just in case Leave the World Behind turns out to be a documentary or something.

But although they're one of the most ubiquitous pantry staples out there, it's easy to find yourself in a bean rut, unsure of what to do with that can of garbanzo beans you picked up when you were trapped in a dense bean salad-induced fever dream all last year. Luckily, to give you a few fresh ideas and help you pick out the best can of beans possible, we asked three bean-loving chefs their opinion, and their No. 1 answer was unanimous. Here's everything you need to know about canned beans and how to make the pantry MVP taste extraordinary.

What To Look for When Buying Canned Beans

PeopleImages / Shutterstock.com

Choosing the perfect can of beans isn't rocket science, but there are some things you'll want to check for to ensure you're getting the most bang for your buck. Here's what the chefs say you should look for when buying a can of beans at the grocery store:

The price

According to our panel of chefs, the first thing you should always check when you're buying a can of beans is the price. While you can certainly splurge on a more expensive can if you want, for the most part, a higher price point doesn't necessarily equate to a better bean. On average, a can of beans should cost you no more than $1.50, and always take advantage of deals to stock up.

An easy-to-read ingredients list

You also always want to review the ingredients list and ensure you're okay with what you see. For chef Pati, that means looking for a can of beans "that already have a soul." Her go-to brand is La Costeña, and the reason she loves it is that "they're already cooked with onion, tomato, jalapeño and spices. They taste like someone actually cooked them with care and intention."

Chef Richard prefers a simpler ingredient list with only beans, water and a small amount of salt. He also tries to avoid any unnecessary preservatives, added sugars or high sodium when possible.

And chef Jessica follows a similar rule, but points out that calcium chloride, as an extra ingredient, shouldn't be alarming. The usual reason for the addition is to help the beans maintain their texture and firmness. "There's nothing worse than opening a can of beans for a salad or soup only to discover they are practically mush," she says.

Check the can

Our chefs also recommend checking the can for dents or dings, as even small nicks can create openings for bacteria to enter. It's also a good idea to double-check that the can mentions being made with a BPA-free liner. While most canned goods manufactured in the U.S. use alternative liners, some imported goods may still use the controversial epoxy lining.

The Best Thing To Make With Canned Beans, According to 3 Chefs

Food is Love / Shutterstock.som

Once you've selected your bean of choice and have made your way home, instead of just stuffing your carefully chosen legumes into your pantry, now it's time to get cooking. And when it comes to what you can make with a simple can of beans, the options are truly endless. Whether you warm them up with spices on the stove to serve as a side with your weekly arroz con pollo or toss them into a salad with a variety of other vegetables, there's truly no wrong way to use them.

But when we asked our chefs what they liked to make with the humble canned bean, they all said the same thing.

Soups and Stews: All of our chefs noted that canned beans make a great addition to soups and stews because they're already cooked and soak up flavor easily. You could toss pinto beans into chili, make a cassoulet with white beans or use them straight from the can in a gorgeous Mediterranean-inspired salad.

3 More Genius, Chef-Approved Ways To Use Canned Beans1. A quick and easy side

Perhaps the simplest way to use canned beans is to warm them up with aromatics, as chef Pati and chef Richard do. Add a punch of flavor with onion, garlic, chiles and spices before adding the beans, allowing them to infuse with the flavors. Finish them with a squeeze of lime and fresh cilantro, and you've got a quick and easy side dish with minimal effort.

2. Protein supplement or replacement

Our chefs also recommend using a can of beans to beef up dishes like tacos and tamales, or as a meat replacement altogether. You can turn canned beans into a veggie burger or mash them and use them as a lasagna filling.

3. Popular recipe additions

Clearly, these chefs know their way around a can of beans, and now so do you! But if you're still looking for inspo on what to do with that lingering can of chickpeas or navy beans in the pantry, we've included a few more chef-approved recipes to try out below.

Stephen King’s Novel That Helped Him Recuperate After 1999 Car Crash Turns 25

Wed, 04/08/2026 - 5:54pm

When Stephen King was involved in a car accident in 1999, he turned to writing to help him recuperate. Developed within six months, Dreamcatcher has become one of the author’s least liked books, but it turned 25 this year.

What many people may not realize is that Dreamcatcher almost went by another name. It was King’s wife, Tabitha King, who encouraged him to change it.

‘Dreamcatcher’ Almost Went By the Name ‘Cancer’

The novel, which is set in the popular fictional town of Derry in Maine, was originally titled Cancer. We can thank his wife for the change of name, and it’s not clear if it would have become such a major seller (and eventually a movie) if it went by the original name. Most importantly, it was originally written in longhand as a way to help King recuperate from his car crash.

The crash itself is part of the reason King now doesn’t like this piece of his work, which was his first full-length novel since Bag of Bones in 1998. He was on heavy painkillers at the time of writing due to the pain that he was in, and that contributed to the change of writing style. Many certainly questioned it at the time of the release, and with more information, it helps to understand the nuances to the work.

‘Dreamcatcher’ Is Set 25 Years After the Original Events

What’s funny is that the 25th anniversary is poignant for this particular story. It all starts with four boys in the haunted city of Derry. Then it cuts to 25 years later, when these four boys are men, living their own separate lives, who come together each hunting season.

When they come across a stranger in their camp who is disorientated and mumbling something about lights in the sky, they aren’t sure what to think about the situation. Sure enough, they’re all soon confronted by a creature from another world, and so starts the sci-fi horror involving an alien parasite that will kill to get what it wants.

Two years after the novel’s release, it was released as a movie adaptation. However, not only was it plagued by negative reviews, but it was also a box office bomb.

Mick Jagger's daughter, Georgia May Jagger, is a true blonde beauty as she rolls around in a field of daffodils to promote her beauty line.

The daughter of the Rolling Stones icon, 34, who serves as the founder of May Botanicals, sports the same blonde hair as her Texan model mother, Jerry Hall. But one look at that smile, and it's safe to say that she inherited it from her father, who's still rocking out on stages across the globe at 82.

In a new series of photos, Georgia May sports a white knit dress as she lies in a beautiful field of daffodils with a cloudy sky behind her.

Nikki Glaser Encourages Her Boyfriend to Have Hookups: ‘It’s Just What I’m Into’

Wed, 04/08/2026 - 5:38pm

Comedian, actress, and TV host Nikki Glaser, 41, has never been one to mince words. She gets brutally honest making fun of herself in her standup act, as well as when she's completely roasting other people. So it's no real surprise she's talking openly about her personal sex life, specifically how she encourages her partner to hook up with other women because she "kinda likes it."

On a new episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, the Golden Globes host discusses what she calls her "Hot Husband Fetish," which she defines as "when you want your partner to have sexual experiences with other people outside of the relationship."

Glaser and her partner, producer Chris Convy, 45, have been in an on-and-off relationship for over a decade. Glaser explains that when they first started dating, she asked Convy to detail past hookups, former girlfriends, how they got together, and how they figured out they liked one another.

"I loved that ... It would make me horny to think about him doing that with other girls," she continues. "It would really be like a foreplay for me. I would get revved up talking about it.”

Related: Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Upcoming Wedding Plans: What We Know So Far

When podcast host Alex Cooper asks Glaser if this means she identifies as polyamorous, Glaser clarifies, "I don't want another girlfriend. I don't want to be in bed with you guys, together," adding, "I just want to hear about it later."

Glaser says, for herself, she's not interested in hooking up outside her relationship. "I don’t really care about that. But I don’t care if someone else were to. In fact, I kinda like it.”

When Convy ran out of new stories about other women, Glaser says she urged him to “get some more stories.”

Trying to further articulate why this work for her, she says, “Maybe it's my competitive nature. I want a guy that other girls want.”

Glaser shares that the couple does have some guardrails around their arrangement. "Emotional cheating would hurt me,” she explains. She also says, "I just feel like I understand how sex is for men most of the time. Outside of a relationship, it's just transactional."

She didn't want to elaborate on any hookup specifics, but she does say, “There have been some interesting things that were really fun for me to hear about and experience—and fun for him too."

Glaser admits this kind of arrangement probably isn't right for everyone and she's just following what currently works for her in her relationship. “There's probably a sadness to it. But it’s just what I’m into, and I can't help it."

Watch the Nikki Glaser interview with Alex Cooper on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast:

Glaser's new comedy special Good Girl premieres on April 24, 2026 on Hulu.
