Mackenzie Shirilla's dad, Steve Shirilla, won't be returning to his job as a teacher at Mary Queen of Peace School. After Steve made a comment about his daughter doing drugs on the Netflix documentary, The Crash, the school put him on leave.

Now, Steve says he has no plans to return to the school.

"I wouldn’t resign a contract with them for the simple fact of how they handled this situation… the school and the diocese showed their true colors," Steve told TMZ. "I’m done talking about this or anything that’s not about the injustice my daughter has been put through my only focus is her."

Steve previously told TMZ that his words were misrepresented in the documentary. He maintains that he did not allow his daughter to use drugs and says he was unaware that she was allegedly driving while under the influence at times.

Meanwhile, the Diocese of Cleveland told TMZ, "Catholic school personnel decisions are the purview of each school in the Diocese of Cleveland. Due to privacy considerations, neither the schools nor the Diocese ordinarily discuss personnel issues publicly. However, we can confirm that Mr. Steve Shirilla will not be returning to Mary Queen of Peace School."

Mackenzie was convicted of killing her boyfriend, Dominic Russo, and their friend, Davion Flanagan, after the car she was driving crashed into a brick wall at nearly 100 mph. She is currently serving concurrent 15-year-to-life prison sentences and has maintained that she did not intentionally crash the vehicle, saying she is unsure what happened that night.

Her case was later featured in the Netflix documentary The Crash, which was released by the streaming giant last month. It was comments Steve made in the documentary about his daughter that led to his placement on leave, including remarks in which he said he didn’t “have a problem” with her “smoking dope” and suggested that, if someone were going to “smoke a drug,” that was the one he believed they “should take.”

Mackenzie will be eligible for parole in 2037.

Retiring alone is becoming increasingly common, particularly among divorced, widowed, and never-married individuals, according to Melissa Murphy Pavone, Certified Financial Planner™, Certified Divorce Financial Analyst®, and founder at Mindful Financial Partners.

"I often work with individuals who are facing retirement after a major life transition, and many are surprised to learn how different retirement planning looks when there is no spouse or partner to share expenses, caregiving responsibilities, or financial risks," she says, noting that one of the biggest differences between retiring with a partner and without comes down to economies of scale.

"A single retiree still pays for housing, utilities, insurance, and healthcare, but with only one income source and one Social Security benefit," she continues, adding that they also live without much of a safety net when it comes to emergencies or if investments fail to materialize in the way you're expecting them to.

"For divorced individuals, this challenge can be even greater if retirement assets were divided during the divorce process or if they spent years out of the workforce raising children."

And the differences don't end with your bank account, according to Elizabeth "Bitsy" Hamilton, Founder of EA Hamilton Coaching & Consulting. That's because people may underestimate just how important this type of companionship is once you leave the workforce. In fact, a presentation on Aging and Health Matters for the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says that social isolation among older adults is associated with a 50 percent increased risk of dementia and a 29 percent increased risk of heart disease. "Single retirees need to be proactive about creating and engaging with community to remain active and social," she says.

What Should You Do if You're Planning on Retiring Alone

Retiring on your own is far from a negative thing. Instead, Murphy Pavone says you can enjoy your retirement just as much as your married friends; you may just need to do a little extra planning to stay ahead of some common issues that could arise. She says that includes:

• Creating a sustainable retirement income plan
• Understanding Social Security options, including potential divorced-spouse benefits
• Planning for long-term care and future caregiving needs
• Updating estate planning documents and beneficiary designations
• Building a strong support network, both financially and emotionally
• Stress-testing your retirement plan against inflation, market volatility, and unexpected expenses

There Are Perks to Retiring Alone

After you've worked to establish a community in your retirement and safeguarded your finances and health, Murphy Pavone says there's actually a lot to love about being single in retirement, since you have complete control over everything from your lifestyle choices to where you choose to live.

"Just as married couples often rely on each other, single retirees benefit from surrounding themselves with trusted financial, legal, healthcare, and personal support professionals," she continues. "Retirement planning is about much more than money—it is about creating a sustainable and fulfilling life for the decades ahead."

While retiring alone may look different than what you expected (or what others are doing), the right preparation and community can ensure that your golden years are just as rich and rewarding as everyone else's.

Brené Brown has a warning about the way people talk about social media.

The bestselling author and professor, who has spent much of her career studying vulnerability, courage, and human connection, recently explained why she believes social media is often misunderstood.

In TODAY.com's Expert Tip of the Day series, Brown said that while online platforms can be useful, they should not be mistaken for a real connection.

"I think what's scary is we say that we're connected online," Brown told TODAY.com. "Online tools, social media, technology, those are not connection tools. Those are communication tools."

Brown said that distinction matters because social media can make people feel as though they are connecting deeply when they may only be exchanging quick responses, likes, or comments.

Brown used the example of losing a job to explain the difference.

If someone posts about being laid off on Facebook or Instagram, friends may respond with supportive comments like, "God, so sorry to hear it. Wishing you the best of luck." Brown said that kind of response can be kind, but it does not require much vulnerability from the person sharing the news.

A phone call is different.

"If I have to pick up the phone and call you and say, 'Do you have a second? The worst thing just happened at work today. My whole department was laid off,' that's connection," Brown said.

She added that the conversation might feel awkward, and the person on the other end may not know exactly what to say. But the act of reaching out directly creates a different kind of bond than posting online and waiting for comments.

"That's connection," Brown said. "The other is just communication."

Why the Difference Matters

Brown said humans are "hardwired" for connection, which means most people need meaningful interaction even if they do not always recognize it.

That does not mean social media has no value. Online platforms can help people stay in touch, share information, and find support. But Brown's point is that they have limits.

The problem starts when people expect social media to satisfy the same emotional need as a real conversation, a phone call, a shared activity, or a vulnerable check-in with someone who knows them well.

TODAY.com also cited research from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showing that consistent personal connection has been linked to benefits including improved mood, lower stress, and even reduced chronic disease risk.

For Brown, the goal is not necessarily to disappear from social media altogether. It is to use it for what it can do, while remembering what it cannot replace.

How Brené Brown Builds Real Connection

Brown also shared a few ways she tries to create more meaningful connections in her own life.

One of her main tools is curiosity. She suggested asking people simple but genuine questions, especially during small talk.

Examples include asking where someone is from, whether they grew up there, what they loved about it, whether they still go back, and whether they miss it.

Brown also quoted author Harriet Lerner, saying people should "listen with the same passion with which you want to be heard."

The advice is simple, but it points back to the same idea: connection usually requires presence, curiosity, and vulnerability. Social media can start a conversation, but it cannot always do the deeper work.

Brown also said she tries to be careful about how she uses Instagram. She told TODAY.com that she often sticks to posts from people she follows and tries to avoid influencers or "grifters."

She also makes time to get outside every day and plays competitive pickleball six days a week, which gives her another form of real-world social interaction.

For anyone feeling drained by social media, Brown's reminder is direct: the phone in your hand can help you communicate, but a creal connection may still require actually making the call.

Ted Danson addressed his 1993 blackface performance in a recent interview.

He sat down with W. Kamau Bell on his new podcast Who's with Me?, with an episode titled “Ted Danson on Owning Your Mistake.”

The Cheers actor explained, “I would like to address this is and apologize forever. I know what was in my heart.”

In the early 1990s, Danson was in a relationship with WhoopiGoldberg. She was being roasted at the Friars Club. He thought it would be mostly private, but it later aired on Comedy Central.

“The idea is like we're all going to go into the room and make say the worst things about each other or do the worst things, ‘cause we're inside the club,” Bell said.

“The most vile, funny stuff came out of people's mouths,” Danson agreed.

The 78-year-old wasn’t sure what to do at the roast.

“So my brain was going, ‘Okay, here is one of the most outrageous, funny, Black women in the world at that point. I'm supposed to be roasting her. And I'm not a standup. I can't run with the bulls,'” he said.

Danson admitted that his relationship with Goldberg was ending and attempted to get out of the roast, but was unsuccessful.

The Good Place star shared he worked on the act for months. “I thought I could pull this off,” he said. The plan was “so arrogant and stupid on my part.”

Once he started talking, Danson said it was clear the crowd was uncomfortable.

He apologized to the The Color Purple star for having to “defend” him. “The last thing she probably wants to do is have [to] be put in this position again,” the actor said.

“I am forever apologetic,” Danson said. “. . . The other thing I used to say for the longest time, ‘I knew what my intention was. My intention was love.' It doesn't matter. Your intentions do not matter. The impact you have on people is what matters. And if you haven't thought through that, then you need to.”

Weezer fans struck gold on Wednesday, June 3, when the '90s rock band announced yet another self-titled album.

The band took to Instagram to give a glimpse of the cover art, while revealing the album, their first LP since 2021’s Van Weezer and OK Human (and the Sznz 4-EP series).

"Plated in what surface instruments call gold. It bears the name Weezer," the caption began, adding, "Its surface is marked by four symbols believed to represent its creators.

The caption revealed "the 20th album" will arrive on Aug. 21.

Additionally, Weezer announced the lead single, “We Might As Well Be Strangers,” featuring Wednesday's Karly Hartzman.

"Carry it with you to the Gathering, and witness what follows," the post added, noting that a "limited number of signed vinyl editions have been set aside in the U.S. webstore for those who seek them."

The news comes on the heels of the previously announced 2026 North American arena tour, Weezer: The Gathering, in support of the new album, kicking off on Sept. 8 in Sacramento, California, and spanning 32 stops across the U.S., with The Shins and Silversun Pickups as supporting acts.

It's been 32 years since Weezer released their self-titled debut album, which fans know as the Blue album, with iconic hits like “Say It Ain’t So” and “Buddy Holly," that remain festival favorites to this day.

Over the course of their career, there have been 15 studio albums (Gold will be their 16th) and four compilation albums, spanning many colors, including Green, Red, White, Teal and Black, and selling over 35 million worldwide

Formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1992, the band has consisted of Rivers Cuomo, Patrick Wilson, Brian Bell, and Scott Shriner since 2001.

The album's co-producers, Klas Åhlund and Kenneth Blume, revealed in a press release (per Consequence) that they wanted to make "the most violent Weezer album ever," with all members playing the drums live.

Most landmark multimedia franchises tend to have humble beginnings, and in many ways, it doesn't get any humbler than NBC's genre-defining space opera series,Star Trek: The Original Series.

Originally designed as a more intellectual approach to the sci-fi genre than anything that had come before it, Gene Roddenberry's Star Trek: The Original Series ran for a short but impressive three seasons on NBC throughout the late 1960s.

Initially arriving in September 8, 1966, the series spanned a total of 79 episodes, each of which followed the intrepid crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise spaceship, "bolding going where no man has gone before."

Starring an ensemble that included the likes of William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley, Nichelle Nichols and George Takei, Star Trek enjoyed middling success upon its initial debut to NBC, notably failing to draw strong ratings from the network's core viewership.

Following its three seasons on primetime, NBC decided to cancel the series following the release of its third season, with Star Trek: The Original Series formally concluding on June 3, 1969.

In the years that followed, Star Trek slowly took a more enthusiastic contingent of fans thanks to its broadcast syndication, eventually becoming a cult success and a major staple of science fiction from the 1970s onward.

In the decades that came after, the show provided the basis for a total of 13 different television series and 14 feature films, many of which have enjoyed serious success among mainstream viewers.

Along with the dozens of books, video games, toys and other media tied to the franchise, Star Trek: The Original Series commonly ranks as one of the most popular and important TV shows to ever premiere. For example, Empire hailed the series as one of the greatest shows of all time, writing, "Sci-fi on the small screen wouldn’t be what it is now had Roddenberry not boldly gone there first all those years ago."

Fans of 1990s alternative rock are getting a major concert event this fall.

Live has announced a 2026 Latin American tour featuring special guests 4 Non Blondes and Soul Asylum.

The band shared the news on Instagram, writing: "We are excited to announce our return to Latin America this September with Special Guests @4nonblondes and @soulasylumofficial!!"

The tour kicks off Sept. 9 in São Paulo, Brazil, before making stops throughout South America, Mexico and Puerto Rico. The announcement continues a busy stretch for Live, which has remained active on the road in recent years under the leadership of vocalist Ed Kowalczyk.

Formed in Pennsylvania during the late 1980s, Live became one of the defining alternative rock bands of the 1990s thanks to a string of multi-platinum albums and radio staples.

The group's breakthrough came with 1994's Throwing Copper, which produced enduring hits including "Lightning Crashes," "I Alone" and "Selling the Drama."

"Even though I was sitting there with an acoustic guitar, I knew once the band got hold of ['I Alone'] they would make the sound as big as the idea," Kowalczyk told Songwriting Magazine. "That was a really exciting time for me as a writer because I had this incredible arsenal of a band that was really finding its way."

Those songs helped establish Live as one of the biggest rock acts of the decade, blending spiritual themes, arena-sized hooks and Kowalczyk's powerful vocals.

"We met in kindergarten, I think,” Kowalczyk told Rolling Stone of his bandmate and Live co-founder, Chad Taylor. "I mean, Chad and I learned how to play guitar together. I remember sitting there with chord charts and opening up guitar magazines and saying, 'Hey, Chad, check this chord out.' And then he'd show me something he came across. We literally learned to play music together, from zero. So we have this incredibly long history. And to be able to re-experience that now [...] has been really incredible."

The addition of 4 Non Blondes and Soul Asylum adds even more nostalgia to the lineup.

4 Non Blondes remains best known for its iconic hit "What's Up?" while Soul Asylum scored major success during the same era with "Runaway Train" and "Misery." Together, the three bands represent some of the most recognizable voices of 1990s alternative rock.

For fans across Latin America, the tour offers a rare opportunity to see multiple era-defining acts share the same stage.

You would think people wouldn’t forget their teeth, but dentures are among some of the weirdest items people have left behind in their Ubers. Ironically, Uber is not the only place where people leave behind such items. Many flight attendants have found dentures tucked away in back seat pockets, along with prosthetic limbs and other items. There's also been some odd things found in unclaimed luggage.

How to Get Your Lost Items Back From Uber

What happens if you get home and realize you left your hair or teeth behind? Uber has rolled out an improved way to regain these precious items. By using the Uber app and clicking on “activity”, you will get access to a scroll-down option that allows you to find a lost item. Once you report your missing item, your driver will be notified. If no one walks away with it and they find it, you will receive a notification confirming this. Just select “request a return trip”, confirm the fare for your return, and you’ll get your item back.

Right now, this feature is only available in California, Texas, Pennsylvania, D.C., Minnesota, and Massachusetts. It should be available nationwide by the end of the year.

The Sex and the Citymovies are controversial among fans because of certain plot points. Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall) wasn't interested in monogamy before her longest relationship with Smith Jerrod (Jason Lewis). That was undone with their movie breakup, which wasn't dramatic despite their importance.

There is a clip of him modeling on a set and a blonde woman styled like Samantha walks past him, and his head turns, "still got a type," he said. Kelly Clarkson could not hold back her emotions after Rita Wilson praised the impact of The Kelly Clarkson Show.

During the May 27 episode of the daytime talk show, Wilson took a moment to thank Clarkson as the series prepares to end later this year after seven seasons.

"I just want to say one thing before we go," Wilson said, according to People. "I want to thank you for the years that you've been doing your show. I want to thank you for literally changing the game when it came to daytime television."

Wilson went on to praise Clarkson for bringing music into daytime TV in a way that felt personal and meaningful.

"It has made a big change in my life," Wilson added, according to Good Housekeeping. "So thank you, Kelly, for sharing your gifts and for sharing your love of music and for all of your vulnerability and for bringing all of us here to also share our gifts. Thank you for that."

Clarkson, who appeared visibly emotional, teared up as Wilson spoke. The two then embraced, and Clarkson tried to keep the mood light.

"I'm fine," Clarkson responded, wiping away tears.

Wilson's tribute struck a chord because The Kelly Clarkson Show has become known for blending celebrity interviews, everyday human-interest stories and live music.

The show premiered in 2019 and quickly became one of daytime TV's standout success stories. Clarkson's "Kellyoke" performances became a signature segment, in which the singer covered songs by a wide range of artists before sitting down with guests.

Wilson thanked Clarkson for making music a central part of daytime television and for creating a platform for other artists to share their gifts.

Clarkson announced in February that the current season of The Kelly Clarkson Show would be its last.

At the time, the singer and host said the decision was personal and connected to her role as a mother. Clarkson shares daughter River Rose and son Remington Alexander with her late ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock.

"I have been extremely fortunate to work with such an outstanding group of people at The Kelly Clarkson Show, both in Los Angeles and New York," Clarkson wrote in her February statement, according to People.

She also said that after seven seasons, she needed to prioritize her children.

"Their lives have been turned upside down too many times, and I want to be a present mother to them," Clarkson said.

Kelly Clarkson Is Not Leaving TV Completely

Although The Kelly Clarkson Show is ending, Clarkson is not stepping away from television entirely.

NBC confirmed that Clarkson will return as a coach for Season 30 of The Voice. The milestone season will also feature Adam Levine, Queen Latifah and Riley Green.

The amount of blood and gore across the clip's 7-and-a-half-minute runtime is particularly striking, but gamers generally seem to be on board based on the upload's comments. "Man awesome, love it waiting to buy," wrote one YouTube user, while another person commented, "Wolverine is one of the most iconic and favorite Marvel heroes for a reason."

“It’s planting our flag that this is a mature game,” Insomniac Games creative director Marcus Smith recently told Variety regarding the trailer release. “There was a lot of speculation about, especially Insomniac creating this game, were we going to be able to create that visceral high action that one would expect from a Wolverine game? And the answer is, yeah, absolutely, we’ve done that."

Smith continued, "We also are creating a storyline that is equally mature, that has more depth and ambiguity and deepness to go along with that. And then I would just throw out that we also understand that some people are squeamish when it comes to blood, and we do have an accessibility option to turn it off and do low-gore paths.”

"Eye serums work best when they’re used consistently, not just occasionally before an event," explains Dr. Cheryl Karcher, a board-certified dermatologist in New York. How to Correctly Layer an Eye Serum Under Makeup Without Pilling

"The biggest cause of pilling is impatience," says Dr. Aderonke Obayomi, a board-certified dermatologist and assistant professor at Mount Sinai. She recommends applying the eye serum "to clean, dry skin" and then giving it "a full minute or two to fully absorb before adding anything on top."

She adds that it's important to use a small, half-pea size amount for both eyes "and tap it in gently with the ring finger rather than rubbing." If you use multiple skin care products, she says to "work from thinnest to thickest," aka serum, then eye cream, moisturizer and finally concealer last.

"The other rule is water-based before oil-based [formulas]," says Dr. Mariwalla.

According to Dr. Karcher, layering too many rich products can also lead "to pilling, creasing and makeup sliding around the eye area." She recommends applying retinol-based formulas at night since they "may be irritating under makeup."

For morning, pre-makeup application, she likes hydrating, antioxidant eye serums "for brightness and protection."

Can an Eye Serum Truly Get Rid of Dark Circles or Just Brighten Them Temporarily?

Dr. Whitney Tolpinrud, a board-certified dermatologist and Medical Director at Curology and Agency says that the effectiveness of an eye serum depends on whether it's "matched to the actual cause of the dark circles."

For pigment-related discoloration, "meaning excess melanin is contributing to the appearance of the under-eye area, then yes, certain eye serums can lead to meaningful improvement over time," Dr. Tolpinrud says, adding that ingredients like niacinamide, vitamin C, caffeine and retinol "can help brighten with consistent use over weeks to months."

For vascular darkness where the blood vessels are visible, she says caffeine-based products may help by temporarily narrowing the blood vessels, but that "laser-based treatments are significantly more effective for this subtype."

But for "structural dark circles caused by volume loss or tear trough hollowing," Dr. Tolpinrud says topical products can't fix the underlying issue, so "soft tissue fillers or fat grafting are the most effective options in these cases."

Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Sandra Oska adds that "dehydration and puffiness can
make dark circles look worse," which serums can address, thanks to their hydrating ingredients.

Common Ingredients To Avoid if You Are Prone to Milia or Under-Eye Bumps

"Milia tend to form when dead skin cells and oil get trapped under the surface," says Dr. Obayomi about the tiny white, stubborn cysts that can sometimes appear on your skin. To help prevent these, she suggests, "Skip rich formulas with petrolatum, mineral oil, lanolin or shea butter when applied close to the lash line."

If you do use a thicker eye cream at night, she recommends keeping it "a half-finger width away from the lash line so the product doesn't migrate into the most milia-prone zone."

If you struggle with milia, Dr. Tolpinrud recommends using "lightweight gel-based or serum-based eye products," and she adds that retinol can be especially helpful. "Topical retinoids have been used clinically to treat milia and may help prevent their formation by promoting healthy cell turnover," she says.

David Dangerfield and Sheila Mangubat Meet

Dangerfield was born deaf and is nonverbal, while Mangubat was born hearing but relies on a hearing aid for her partial deafness. The couple met on a Facebook group for single people with hearing loss in 2021.

After communicating online for two years, Dangerfield, who resides in Omaha, Nebraska, traveled to the Philippines to meet Mangubat for the first time. The occasion was, of course, televised on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days.

“I was open to dating a deaf or hard of hearing person. I was putting myself out there constantly and getting a lot of ‘nos.’ Dangerfield communicated in an episode from season 6, then added: “I’m happy I never gave up because I found my love, Sheila.”

Dangerfield admitted he was “overwhelmed” by the conditions of Mangubat’s home. 

“When COVID hit, she lost her job, and her house was destroyed by a fire,” Dangerfield revealed about Mangubat on the show, adding, “Then it was hit again by a typhoon. I love Sheila, so I want to help her.”

Throughout the season, Dangerfield and Mangubat faced other notable struggles, including financial hardship. Dangerfield opened up on the show about working over 80 hours a week to support Mangubat. At the same time, Mangubat applied for a K-1 Visa, which, as Dangerfield revealed on Instagram, was denied in 2024, according to Screen Rant.

Although the reason for the couple's split in 2025 has yet to be confirmed, their season of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days showcased Mangubat’s trust issues with Dangerfield’s female ASL interpreter, Aimee. Mangubat doesn’t know sign language, while Dangerfield doesn’t read lips, so the couple faced obvious communication differences. 

In addition, Dangerfield expressed his concerns about giving Mangubat money to support her life in the Philippines while struggling to find work on her own.

Netflix recently posted a clip on social media from Glaser’s episode on The Pete Davidson Show. The comedian explained that a fan recently wrote to her asking for help getting back at an ex.

The fan told Glaser that she found out her boyfriend was dating three other girls. She knew he was a big fan and requested the Comedy Central Roast icon to like her most recent social media photo, because “it’ll devastate him.”

In a perfect world, many of us would pay off all of our debts before we retire. However, according to a 2026 BHG Financial survey, 15 percent of respondents said they will carry credit card debt for the rest of their lives, while nearly 46 percent said their current debt negatively affects their mental health. How Common is Retiring With Debt

Retiring with debt is more common than you might think (or hope), according to D.W. Darling, PhD, Certified Financial Therapist™, Licensed Psychologist, Assistant Professor of Psychology at Southern Utah University. Federal Reserve data that was analyzed by MarketWatch found that nearly 65% of Americans aged 65 to 74 held debt in 2022, with an average balance of $134,950. Among those 75 and older, about half held debt, with an average balance of $94,620.

"Mortgages, auto loans, and credit card balances all follow people past their last paycheck," she explains, saying that the anxiety that all of this causes can compound, leading to questionable financial decisions.

Is Carrying Debt Into Retirement Ever a Good Thing

Life is all about moderation, and the same can be said of carrying debt into retirement. That's because Darling says that not all debt is created equal. "Low-interest, fixed, predictable debt (like a mortgage) tends to feel manageable and rarely disrupts well-being," she says, adding that high-interest revolving debt is the kind that tends to generate anxiety and erode a sense of control.

However, when it comes to the perks of carrying debt into retirement (like a mortgage that can offer some tax advantages), Darling says you'll want to consult with a professional to see if the pros outweigh the cons.

Generally speaking, Darling says that the "best" debt to take with you into retirement would be:

That "emotional load" comment from Darling is likely the most important takeaway here, since so many of us (myself included) tend to associate debt with failure. But the reality is that debt is just another way to leverage your assets to get the things you want and need. "I see clients treat it as evidence they did something wrong, and that narrative does more damage than the debt balance itself," Darling says.

Darling adds that what matters more than reaching zero by a certain birthday is having a realistic plan and a manageable payment you can sustain on a fixed income. Retiring with debt isn't ideal, but it isn't the end of the story either. With the right mindset and a solid plan, it's entirely possible to carry debt into retirement and still make the most of this chapter.

Jade's graduation comes as De Laurentiis prepares for an emotional transition at home.

Earlier this year, the celebrity chef told Good Housekeeping that Jade is heading to New York University in the fall. The milestone marks a major shift for De Laurentiis, who said that much of her daily life has revolved around Jade's schedule for the past 18 years.

De Laurentiis said she was already thinking about what life would look like once Jade leaves for college.

"I think it's going to be very hard for me," De Laurentiis told Good Housekeeping in a previous interview. "I'm going to have to figure out how to fill my time."

The chef also credited Jade with helping her take risks in her own career. In that same interview, De Laurentiis said her daughter's influence helped push her out of her comfort zone and encouraged her to keep going professionally.
