Long before he became one of the founding members of the Eagles, Don Henley was getting an unexpected helping hand from another future music icon.

In 1970, the Texas native packed up and moved to Los Angeles with his band, Shiloh, hoping to break into the music business. The group had landed a recording contract, but finding a foothold in Southern California wasn't easy for a young musician just starting out.

Fortunately, Henley, 78, had a connection.

Fellow Texan Kenny Rogers welcomed Henley and his bandmates into his home while they recorded Shiloh's self-titled debut album. Rogers also produced the project, giving the aspiring musicians an opportunity that would prove pivotal early in Henley's career.

Although the album failed to become a commercial success, Henley's move to Los Angeles set off a chain of events that would change rock music forever.

Not long after Shiloh disbanded, Henley met guitarist Glenn Frey. The pair soon joined Linda Ronstadt's backing band, where they quickly discovered a musical chemistry that extended far beyond the stage.

That partnership led to the formation of the Eagles in 1971.

The band would go on to become one of the best-selling acts in music history, selling more than 120 million albums worldwide and producing enduring classics including "Hotel California," "Take It Easy," "Desperado" and "Life in the Fast Lane."

Henley emerged as one of the group's primary songwriters, sharing lead vocal duties with Frey on many of the Eagles' biggest hits. His distinctive voice and introspective lyrics helped define the band's signature California rock sound throughout the 1970s and beyond.

Looking back, it's remarkable to think one of rock's most influential careers began while living under the roof of another future legend.

Without that move to Los Angeles and Rogers opening his home to a fellow Texan, Henley's path might have looked very different.

It's hard to believe that a year has passed since our world got a little less wild. On July 22nd, 2025, Ozzy Osbourne passed away shortly after the conclusion of the instantly legendary Back to the Beginning concert, which served as a now bittersweet sendoff to one of the greatest musicians of all time, as well as one of the greatest bands of all time with Black Sabbath.

It's hard to think of any musician who had the chance to close their career out in such a fitting way. He was surrounded by the royalty of the genre he helped create and gave an absolutely killer performance to remind everyone who the godfather of metal really was. The following funeral procession was a somber yet beautiful moment that showed just how much he'd be missed. A year later, and the hole he left remains just as wide as it was the day he passed on.

In honor of the anniversary of his death, I want to talk about some underappreciated songs from throughout his career that have stood out as reasons why he is one of my favorite musicians of all time.

Under The Sun / Every Day Comes and Goes

The closer from my favorite Sabbath record sees Ozzy with some scathing lyrics attacking organized religions and the hypocrisy they can showcase. Aside from the commentary, the instrumentation is incredible. It's one of the heavier '70s tracks that Sabbath put out, featuring these sludgy guitars over a 12/8 time signature that gives it this chugging feeling, kind of like a steam train. Guitarist Tony Iommi is also on fire throughout the whole song, with these incredible riffs and fills that give a wonderful gothic tinge to the whole song.

The band sounds absolutely incredible together, creating a dark, angry, and powerful song that remains one of my absolute favorite Black Sabbath tracks.

Symptom of the Universe

"Sabotage" doesn't get nearly enough attention in my eyes as one of Sabbath's greatest albums. It's a lot more raucous and gritty than their previous albums up to this point, and it features some of the heaviest music of the '70s, including "Symptom of the Universe," which I would argue invented thrash metal.

Seriously, this song is crazy ahead of its time. You could slide it into a Metallica or Megadeth record and it would honestly fit perfectly. The fact that this song came out in 1975 absolutely baffles me. Ozzy sounds absolutely great on it too, with this screaming tone that the thrash metal bands of the '80s and '90s surely took huge inspiration from. His delivery is so similar to that of early James Hetfield.

Give it a listen. It's baffling that this came out when it did.

I Don't Know

A song that massively overshadowed by the one immediately following it, (Crazy Train) "I Don't Know" is Ozzy's introduction to being a solo artist. Being the first song on "Blizzard of Ozz," it carries a lot of weight. It's the song that showcases Ozzy's capability as a solo artist and shows the star he was about to become.

You can't forget Randy Rhoads on guitar, one of the greatest to ever do it and a player we all wish was still here with us today. He's absolutely remarkable both on this song as well as throughout the rest of the record. Him and Ozzy made for such a special duo, and the song makes for the perfect introduction to Ozzy as a solo artist.

See You on the Other Side

This is the song I found myself listening to the most following Ozzy's passing. While most people latched onto "Mama, I'm Coming Home" as the song of his that felt most emblematic of his passing, this one carried more weight to me. For starters, the instrumental is incredibly unique. The guitars have an amazing tone to them that captures this melancholia that surrounds the song's themes of grief, acceptance, and loss.

Ozzy gives a great vocal performance throughout, with the introspective tone of the song meshing extremely well with his loud and proud delivery. It's one of my favorite songs of Ozzy's solo career, and it's a song I constantly come back to to remember him by.

We'll all see him on the other side someday.

The world will never forget Ozzy Osbourne. A year ago today was a day for mourning, so let's make July 22nd this year a day for celebration.

Love Island USA star Zach Georgiou has been silent on social media since his fourth-place finish in the Season 8 finale, but the actor has finally taken to social media to update fans on what has been going on in his life.

Georgiou shared his video on Instagram, explaining that after 8 months away, he is finally home in Birmingham, England.

The former Islander shared that life has been “So surreal," the last year, explaining how he was previously in Australia and then went straight to Fiji.

As for why he was making the video update, Georgiou shared he wanted to thank fans for their continued love and support. “All the comments, the messages, all the videos, I do see it, and I see all your kind words, and I can't tell you how much that support actually means to me, cos I see it all.”

Georgiou shared that life has been “a bit tough,” so seeing the positivity has made things a bit easier.

Reflecting on his experience in the villa, he shared it was “honestly the best experience,” adding that he made great connections, with one of the most important being his relationship with Kayda Bosse.

“I'm just so excited to just see the world with her now,” he added, before sharing he cannot wait to visit her, see where she lives, meet her family and friends, and share their lives together.

While he has had some negative responses to navigate since leaving the villa, Georgiou explained that the support Kayda has given since leaving “has been incredible; she's been like my rock.”

He also thanked fellow Islanders Bryce and Trinity for their support. “That post the other day was incredible to see she had my back like that; it just shows the bonds we've created in the villa have been so genuine.”

Georgiou concluded his video by asking fans to stay tuned as he and Kayda navigate their journey out in the real world. He explained that he cannot “wait to update fans” on everything that they have planned.

Former General Hospital star Evan Hofer took to social media to tease an exciting new chapter.

Hofer, who played Port Charles police department officer Dex Heller, took to Instagram to post new photos of himself along with the tease “Come back tomorrow,” to excite fans.

Fans immediately took to the comment section to share their thoughts and opinions. “Looking forward to tomorrow ❤️,” shared one viewer. “I'd LOVE for you to 'come back tomorrow,” added a second. "Dam, I miss you not being on General Hospital.😢 Love the pictures of you, you a handsome guy, just saying. 😍" added a third.

Hoffer starred on the ABC soap opera from May 5, 2022, until his exit on December 13, 2024, appearing in over 220 episodes, when his character was tragically killed off after suffering a post-surgery heart attack, when Cyrus (Jeff Kober) gave him an overdose of digitalis.

The move to write Hofer out was described to Soap Opera Digest at the time to be “storyline dictated,” which proved to be the case as his death served as a catalyst for the direction of his on-screen girlfriend Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) storyline trajectory, as the ramifications and fallout shifted her perspective ultimately leading to her newfound career as an agent for the World Security Bureau (WSB).

Since leaving General Hospital, Hofer appeared on the first season of 9-1-1: Nashville.

Evan’s professional acting career began in 2010 with an appearance on the TV movie Everyday Kid in 2010, before having a six-episode stint on the Disney XD series Kickin’ It between 2011 and 2013.

Evan would then appear in various series and movies in guest roles before appearing in over 30 episodes of Dwight in Shining Armor prior to booking General Hospital.

Little is known about what Hofer could be teasing, but the actor's IMDb profile teases two upcoming projects: We’re Bad at This and Living the Dream.

General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC and streams weeknights on Hulu.

Is this the end of the road for Greg Vaughan’s time on Beyond the Gates as Dr. Kial Rollins? It sure seems that way after the Daytime Emmy winner took to social media to make a cryptic post, and his co-stars responded in the comments.

Vaughan shared the post on Instagram, writing, “My heart is full. My purpose is just getting started. I’m grateful for my life, my family, the people who consistently show up, and the lessons that shaped me. Every challenge has become preparation. Every blessing has become perspective. I haven’t arrived. I’m simply grateful for how far God has brought me, and excited for everything that’s still ahead.”

He would go on to caption the post, “Thank you to everyone who’s been part of my journey. Family. Friends. Fans. Colleagues. Your encouragement has meant more than you know.”

Then, he finalized his post, writing, “Here’s to the next chapter.”

While fans immediately began looking into the post, assuming that the “next chapter” comment pointed towards an exit from the newly Daytime Emmy-nominated soap opera, one comment from Beyond the Gates co-star Robert Christopher Riley (Dr. Carlton Fitzgearld) indicated that he has left the series, writing, “Love and Miss ya buddy.”

While Vaughan was only on Beyond the Gates in a recurring role since his debut in 2025, fans have enjoyed his budding relationship and love triangle with Daphnée Duplaix's character Nicole Dupree Richardson opposite Riley’s character Carlton.

Vaughan’s daytime credits include appearances on The Young and the Restless as Diego followed by a successful run on ABC’s General Hospital as a recast of Lucky Spencer, the legacy child of Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary) and Laura Webber (Genie Francis), before portraying the legacy character Eric Brady, son of Roman Brady (Wayne Northrop and Josh Taylor) and Dr. Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall).

If Vaughan is exiting Beyond the Gates, fans are hopeful that with a new writing regime in play at Days of Our Lives, Eric Brady may return home to Salem once again.

Cream is not only credited as rock's first supergroup, but  they also left a lasting mark by introducing a number of memorable tracks, including the 1968 song "Anyone for Tennis."

The trio, featuring Eric Clapton of John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers alongside Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker of the pioneering British rhythm and blues group The Graham Bond Organisation, often hailed as one of the greatest supergroups of all time, showcased their enduring legacy through groundbreaking music.

In 1968, amid their rapid succession of album releases, Cream showcased a different side with "Anyone for Tennis."

Veering away from their usual sound that highlighted  blues rock and psychedelic rock, the supergroup combined folk-rock acoustic rhythms with jazzy drumming and a catchy, upbeat melody.

Written by Clapton together with artist and lyricist Martin Sharp, the song was recorded during the Wheels of Fire album sessions but was left off the album because it was commissioned for the soundtrack of the action movieThe Savage Seven.

While the film didn't become a mainstream box office hit, "Anyone for Tennis" found separate commercial success as the 1968 track entered the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No. 64 and staying on the chart for five weeks.

Moreover, the supergroup's standalone track became its fifth song to enter the chart.

Just weeks after surviving a devastating car crash, Patsy Cline made a surprise appearance that left country music fans hopeful for what was to come.

On July 22, 1961, the country legend was brought onto the stage of the Grand Ole Opry in a wheelchair to reassure fans that she was determined to return to doing what she loved most: singing.

The emotional moment came less than two months after Cline was seriously injured in a head-on collision outside Madison High School in Nashville on June 14, 1961. The crash left the "I Fall to Pieces" singer with multiple injuries, including a fractured hip, a badly injured wrist and a large cut across her forehead that required extensive stitches.

Doctors initially questioned whether Cline would fully recover, and she spent weeks hospitalized before continuing her rehabilitation at home. As word of her condition spread, fans across the country wondered if one of country music's brightest stars would ever return to the stage.

That's why her appearance at the Grand Ole Opry carried so much meaning.

Although she wasn't able to perform, Cline addressed the audience from her wheelchair, thanking fans for their support and assuring them she planned to be back singing as soon as she was able.

Her determination proved well-founded. After months of recovery, Cline returned to performing and continued building what would become one of the most celebrated careers in country music history. She went on to record timeless classics including "Crazy," "She's Got You" and "Sweet Dreams," helping redefine the role of women in country music with her unmistakable voice and emotional delivery.

Today, Cline's brief appearance at the Grand Ole Opry remains a powerful reminder of her resilience. Rather than disappear from the public eye while she healed, she chose to face her fans and offer them hope that her story wasn't over.

Tragically, Cline's life would be cut short less than two years later when she died in a plane crash on March 5, 1963, at just 30 years old.

Yet her legacy has only grown. More than six decades after that emotional night at the Opry, Patsy Cline remains one of country music's most beloved voices.

When Emerson, Lake & Palmer released "Pirates" in 1977, the band delivered one of the most ambitious songs of its career.

Running more than 13 minutes, the progressive rock epic closed Works Volume 1 with sweeping orchestration, cinematic storytelling, and the larger-than-life musicianship that made ELP one of the genre's defining acts. Remarkably, despite its sprawling scope, lyricist Peter Sinfield later revealed he had just 20 minutes to write the words.

"Keith's music was very Gilbert & Sullivan," Sinfield said in an interview years later. "It was extraordinarily difficult to get the true nature of piracy into it, and I wrote most of it in Montreux, perhaps the least piratical place on Earth. I had to write to music that was already fixed, and I only had 20 minutes to unfold this epic narrative. It should have been at least twice as long."

For years, fans believed the song had been inspired by a trip to Disneyland's 'Pirates of the Caribbean' attraction.

But Sinfield later debunked that long-standing myth. Instead, he explained that the inspiration came from watching classic Errol Flynn swashbuckling films before diving into the darker realities of piracy through historical research.

"We bought every book we could possibly find on the subject of piracy, and every video that was available," Greg Lake said in a 2012 interview. "And we sat on this mountain and we just absorbed ourselves every day; all day in this language."

As they learned more, the romantic image of pirates gave way to something far more sinister, leading Sinfield to describe them as "the Kray Twins at sea."

Musically, “Pirates” was unlike almost anything else in rock at the time.

The composition originated from music Emerson had written for a proposed film adaptation of Frederick Forsyth's The Dogs of War. Although the soundtrack project never materialized, Greg Lake and Sinfield transformed the piece into a grand progressive rock saga, complete with orchestral arrangements performed by the Orchestra de l’Opéra de Paris.

Though it was never released as a single, "Pirates" quickly became a fan favorite and remains one of the standout tracks from Works Volume 1. Its blend of classical influences, dramatic storytelling and technical virtuosity perfectly captured everything that made Emerson, Lake & Palmer one of progressive rock's most adventurous bands.

"When I think of entertainers in music, I think of people like David Bowie, who created characters onstage," Emerson told Louder. "I was nothing like that. If I had to choose between artistry and entertainment, then I would have to say that I am more of the former. But I would like to be known as a composer before anything else."

More than five decades later, the song continues to be celebrated as one of the group's last great epics before the end of its classic era. What began as a frantic 20-minute lyric-writing session ultimately became a timeless progressive rock classic, proving that inspiration sometimes arrives under the tightest of deadlines.

SelenaGomez kicked off her birthday celebration with husband BennyBlanco in Italy. 

The singer, born July 22, 1992, is turning 34. The couple dined at Trattoria della Santa in Bologna. The restaurant’s owner, RiccardoLelli, told People what it was like to serve the pair in an interview translated by waitress SariaAhmed. 

Gomez and Blanco booked a reservation for a private table on July 21. Once they arrived, they chose to eat under the Portici di Bologna, the iconic arches surrounding the city center.  

“I think they saw that, and they saw how quiet our street is, even though we are in the city center, and they felt comfortable sitting outside because it was a lovely day as well today,” Lelli said, translated by Ahmed.

The owner has nothing but nice things to say about the star-studded couple's visit. 

“They were absolutely amazing, very lovely, good-hearted people,” he said. “They showered us with compliments for the food, for the service, and they were just great clients.” 

Lelli revealed the duo ordered eggplant parmigiana, arugula salad, tagliatelle with mushrooms, bufala cheeseravioli, tortelloni with butter and sage, bolognese lasagna, and Balanzoni pasta. 

Ahmed gave some insight into what the couple was like to work with. She shared that Blanco asked questions and spoke to her more while Gomez was "very private and quiet.” Overall, they were very respectful and easy customers. 

“As a waitress, I can tell you we had a good experience with them,” she said. 

Although it was a positive visit, Ahmed shared one awkward moment. 

“I actually did a little faux pas with them,” she admitted. “They asked for a couple of glasses of prosecco, and they asked for another round, and I recommended them the bottle because it was more convenient.” 

“And while I was going to get it, I was like, ‘What did I just say to them? Why did I say this?’, as if they need something more economic,” she said. “So I was just laughing with myself…It’s my job.”

The staff told People that Blanco found out about the restaurant from a friend. The spot is known for having members of the Italian music industry visit, which may have been how he was recommended the restaurant. 

Overall, “I think it was just a great experience,” Lelli said. 

More than three decades after helping redefine hardcore and metal, Hatebreed is gearing up to unleash another new album.

The Connecticut heavyweights have announcedFatal Paradox, their ninth full-length studio album, which is set for release on Nov. 6 via BLKIIBLK Records. The record marks the band's first new album since 2020's Weight of the False Self and arrives 32 years after Hatebreed first formed in 1994.

Fans won't have to wait long for a preview.

The album's opening track and lead single, "Kill Count Increase," is scheduled to arrive on July 21, giving listeners their first taste of Hatebreed's latest chapter. Once again, the band teamed up with longtime producer Chris "Zeuss" Harris, who has worked on many of Hatebreed's most celebrated releases over the years.

"'Kill Count Increase' is the lead track on Fatal Paradox and a perfect way of summing up our first album in six years from the start," frontman Jamey Jasta said in a statement. "It's straightforward, in-your-face Hatebreed. Fast. Hard. It gets down to business and comes up for air two-and-a-half minutes later. The room and everyone in it gets wrecked and comes back wanting more."

The new album also includes a few surprises.

Death metal fans will recognize a guest appearance from Obituary frontman John Tardy, while Hatebreed also pays tribute to fellow heavy music pioneers with a cover of Corrosion of Conformity's "Poison Planet."

Formed in 1994, Hatebreed quickly became one of the defining names in modern hardcore by combining crushing riffs with Jasta's unmistakable vocals and lyrics centered on perseverance, resilience, and personal strength. Albums including Satisfaction Is the Deathof Desire, Perseverance, The Rise of Brutality, and Supremacy helped establish the band as one of the genre's most influential acts, earning a devoted following that spans both the hardcore and metal communities.

Over the years, Hatebreed has remained a festival favorite, sharing stages with everyone from Slayer and Slipknot to Parkway Drive and Lamb of God while continuing to headline clubs and theaters around the world. Their relentless touring schedule and uncompromising sound have kept them at the forefront of heavy music for more than three decades.

With Fatal Paradox, the band is poised to add another chapter to that legacy. Backed by a trusted producer, a high-profile guest appearance, and new music arriving immediately, Hatebreed is proving that it still has plenty to say.

Thirty-two years after its formation, the iconic metal band continues to move forward with the same intensity that made it a force in heavy music in the first place, and Fatal Paradox is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated metal releases of the fall.
