Who Is Elle Fanning Dating? A Deep Dive Into Her Romantic History

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 7:00am

Elle Fanning has been a Hollywood staple practically since birth. The 27-year-old American actress broke out as a child star, playing the younger version of her sister, fellow actress Dakota Fanning, in the 2001 drama I Am Sam before going on to appear in films like Daddy Day Care, Babel and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

In the decades since, Fanning has become a bona fide leading lady, in films like Mike Mills' 20th Century Women, Sofia Coppola's The Beguiled, Woody Allen’s A Rainy Day in New York and the Maleficent franchise. Her starring turn as Catherine the Great in the Hulu period satire The Great earned the actress a Primetime Emmy nomination and two Golden Globe nods.

Given that Elle Fanning will no doubt be attending plenty of awards ceremonies and red carpet events in the months and years ahead, you might be curious as to who will be by her side through it all. Here is everything we know about who the actress is currently dating, as well as her past romantic history.

Who is Elle Fanning’s boyfriend, Gus Wenner?

Fanning is dating Gus Wenner, a 35-year-old American magazine executive who has been the CEO of Rolling Stone since 2021. After graduating from Brown University in 2012, Wenner went into the family business—he is the son of Jane Schindelheim and magazine magnate Jann Wenner, the founder of Rolling Stone and the co-founder of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Elle hard-launched her relationship with the media man in January 2024, when they walked the red carpet together at the 81st annual Golden Globe Awards.

How long have Elle Fanning and Gus Wenner been dating?

The Girl from Plainville actress hasn’t publicly spilled how she first met her business executive beau, but the pair was first linked in November 2023, when Page Six paparazzi spotted them hand-in-hand outside of The Waverly Inn in New York City. The pair were grabbing dinner with Gus’s brother Theo, pop singer Lorde and Succession actor Annabelle Dexter-Jones.

Although we don’t have details of their first meeting, it was no doubt a momentous one for the star, who revealed to Harper’s Bazaar in April 2023: “I’m a hopeless romantic. I believe in love at first sight. Call me crazy, but I believe in those things. I feel that it’s my destiny.”

View this post on Instagram When did Elle Fanning and Max Minghella break up?

Prior to dating Gus Weller, Fanning was in a long-time relationship with English actor-filmmaker Max Minghella from 2018 to 2023. The son of director Anthony Minghella, 40-year-old Max is known for his roles in movies like The Social Network, The Darkest Hour,The Ides of March and Babylon, as well as TV series like The Mindy Project and The Handmaid’s Tale, the latter of which earned him a Primetime Emmy Award nomination in 2021.

The Great star and Minghella first met in 2018 on the set of the movie Teen Spirit, which was written and directed by Minghella. They made their red carpet debut as a couple at the 2019 Met Gala. However, after a four-year romance, the actress confirmed their split to Harper’s Bazaar in April 2023, telling the outlet that she was newly single.

What was the age difference between Elle Fanning and Max Minghella?

There was a bit of an age gap between Fanning and Minghella: 12 years, in fact. However, that decade-plus difference between the coworkers-turned-couple wasn’t “an issue at all,” a source told Us Weekly in January 2023. “Elle loves how mature and intelligent Max is. He’s a real intellect with a big passion for arts and culture.” Just a few short months later, though, the duo would split.

Who else has Elle Fanning dated?

Along with her romances with Gus Wenner and Max Minghella, Elle has previously been linked to musician-actor Zalman Band, son of American film producer Charles Band; and Dylan Beck, a production assistant she reportedly had a brief fling with in 2014. As for her current love, Gus Wenner was rumored to have been in relationships with Stranger Things actress Maya Hawke and Australian model Jessica Gomes prior to his current partnership with Fanning.

View this post on Instagram Did Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult ever date?

No. Even though they’ve matched up onscreen twice, in Hulu’s The Great and the 2014 action flick Young Ones, Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult never dated. The British actor has been with his wife, California-born model Bryana Holly, since 2017, and the couple shares a son.

However, the co-stars do have a chummy friendship offset, with Fanning revealing to Variety: “I don’t know if it’s because we were child actors but we have the same relationship to set and scenes, and we love to challenge each other, We’re just not embarrassed, which is good for scenes in this show.”

That ease helped uncomfortable bits of filming, like intimate love scenes, Hoult shared. “There was a very awkward kiss between Peter and Catherine where Elle kind of just did nothing and I had to kind of kiss her in a very affectionate loving way,” he told the Associated Press. The actor added that it was "so bizarre" that they "could barely contain our laughter."

Is Elle Fanning engaged to Gus Wenner?

No, Elle Fanning is not currently engaged to Gus Wenner. The pair have been in a long-term relationship since 2023.

Shaquille O’Neal Called His Mom Before Making This Major Business Move

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 6:44am

Shaquille O'Neal is a four-time NBA champion, a father of six, and a self-described "geek of America." He's also, as of last week, part-owner of a three-story tech playground in the middle of Times Square.

On Friday, April 10, tm:rw announced that the Hall of Famer has joined the company as an investor, partner, and global ambassador. The roughly 22,000-square-foot space, which opened in July 2025, houses over 120 brands inside a fully immersive environment featuring everything from Formula 1 driving simulators and advanced robotics to AI-powered holograms. According to a press release, O'Neal will actively shape the company's future, supporting global expansion, brand strategy, and live experiences.

"I've always believed in being early on ideas that can really change how people live and experience the world," O'Neal said in the announcement. "This isn't just about tech, tm:rw is building something completely different. It is not just a store, it is an experience."

The 54-year-old revealed during a sit-down with Bloomberg Television that the whole thing started by accident. He walked into the store as a customer, spent four hours browsing robots, holograms, and smart glasses, and eventually bumped into CEO Nathalie Bernce without realizing who she was. By the time he left, he had asked to become a partner.

When asked whether younger athletes are following his lead as investors, O'Neal pivoted. "You saw me make a phone call before we started — my beautiful mother," he said. "This is not really for monetary gains. It's just remembering that a young single mother worked hard and didn't really have a lot. To have the opportunity to continue to give her the life she deserves, that's all I do it for."

It's a philosophy that's clearly worked. According to Entrepreneur, O'Neal reportedly earns over $95 million annually off the court, more than he ever made playing in the NBA. His portfolio includes an early investment in Google, a stake in Ring before Amazon acquired it for $1 billion, and his own restaurant chain, Big Chicken, which has 40 locations with over 350 more in development. He's also an Emmy-winning analyst on ESPN's Inside the NBA alongside Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith, and Ernie Johnson, and just announced he's launching DUNKMAN this summer, the world's first professional dunking league, in partnership with TNT Sports.

Off the court and off the clock, O'Neal has been open about keeping his personal life relatively private since his divorce from Shaunie Henderson was finalized in 2011. The two share four children together, and O'Neal also has a daughter, Taahirah, from a previous relationship and helped raise Shaunie's son Myles. He joked with Andy Cohen late last year about launching a dating show called The Next Mrs. O'Neal, but for now, it seems like the only new commitment in his life is a massive tech store in Times Square.

How 'In Living Color' Built a $750 Million Empire and Invented the ‘90s Vibe

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 6:41am

What a difference almost 40 years makes. Jamie Foxx is an Oscar winner. Jim Carrey is a global icon. Jennifer Lopez is... well, she’s J-Lo. But thirty-six years ago on April 15, they were all the new kids on a loud, neon-soaked set in a dusty corner of the FOX lot.

They weren't stars yet. They were the people Keenen Ivory Wayans hired because the mainstream networks didn't know what to do with them.

When you tally up the estimated fortunes of the big three alumni: Carrey ($180M), Lopez ($400M), Foxx ($170M), the math hits $750 million. That is three-quarters of a billion dollars in pure entertainment muscle born from a single sketch show. And yet, for years, the show that built those bank accounts was forgotten.

The humor was raw. It was the nineties, and the rules were different. Wayans has said: "You can only be as good as the time period that you live in, with the information that you have."

Back then, the show took aim at everything. They mocked Michael Jackson, spoofed the Rodney King riots, and created characters like Handi-Boy or Blaine and Antoine that would probably make a modern network lawyer faint. But the intent wasn't just to shock. It was a predominantly Black writers' room finally getting to tell their own jokes about their own culture.

Comedy has changed since then. We have more information now, more nuance. But while the “how" has shifted, the "why" remains the same: people want to see the truth, even if it’s wrapped in a ridiculous wig.

To see the influence of In Living Color today, don’t look only at the sitcoms. Look at the music.

In 2018, Bruno Mars dropped "Finesse" with Cardi B. The video was a frame-for-frame love letter. The paint-splattered intro, the rooftop dance sets, the baggy vertical stripes—it was all there. Bruno didn't steal the look; he called Wayans to get his blessing. Mars even hired the original set designers to make sure the paint cans looked right.

Why? Because that aesthetic, the Fly Girls, the New Jack Swing, the pure uncut swagger, is the high-water mark for cool.

The show didn't stop at influencing music videos. It broke the door down for Chappelle’s Show, Key & Peele, and Wild ‘n Out. It’s also finally accessible again; after years of being impossible to stream, the series recently found a home on the Black-owned platform The Brick TV, proving there’s still a hunger for comedy that doesn't pull its punches.

It proved to a whole generation of creators that you didn't need to wait for an invitation to the table. You could build your own, invite the weirdest, funniest people you knew, and throw a party that the rest of the world couldn't help but crash. The real story of In Living Color is that a group of outsiders took over the culture by taking a big swing at trying something new.

Prince Harry Says There Was ‘Room For Improvement’ in King Charles’ Parenting

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 6:30am

Prince Harry emotionally reflected on his childhood during a visit to Australia, stating there was "room for improvement" in King Charles' parenting.

During a visit to the land down under, Harry sat down for a wide-ranging chat during a Q&A for Movember at Western Bulldogs headquarters at Mission Whitten Oval, reported News.com.au.

In an interview with the organization's Global Director of Men’s Health Research, Dr. Zac Seidler, Harry reflected on Charles' parenting style and how it has influenced his own choices as a father to Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

He stated, "I see parenting evolving over time. I think it always has, just… from my perspective, our kids are our upgrade."

Parade Daily🎬 SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬

Harry continued, “Not to say that I’m an upgrade of my dad or that my kids upgraded me, but that’s the approach that I take. Even if you have the best upbringing in the world and you have the best parenting in the world, there’s still room for improvement.”

The Duke of Sussex then said that certain conversations he must have with his two children now were not issues when he and his brother, Prince William, were growing up, such as the influence of social media.

Harry also touched on how he and his wife, Meghan [Markle], resolve conflicts in their marriage regarding historically gender-defining parenting roles.

He explained, "My wife and I regularly talk about what turns out to be a conflict between couples. I find it so interesting how [the father] goes to work, comes back… he’s had a really stressful day…. now he’s coming back and just wants to stick his feet on the kitchen table, put the soccer on, and have a beer."

“And he’s thinking [to his partner], ‘well, you’ve just been at home all day,’” the prince continued.

“There’s this conflict where it’s like, both are true. Your day has been challenging, my day has be challenging, so let’s just use this moment and this opportunity to reconnect as opposed to trying to play it off with each other and say my day’s been harder than yours.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are on a four-day tour of Australia, according to ABC News. This is their first return to the country since shortly after their 2018 marriage.

1978 Rock Hit With ‘Stupid Guitar Riff’ Was Praised by John Lennon

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 6:19am

The B-52s’ “Rock Lobster” is a bonkers clambake of surf rock, kitschy lyrics, and psychedelic nonsense that is also fun, inimitable, and pure rock genius

Released in April 1978, the quirky new-wave track served as the band’s signature debut single before landing on the band’s 1979 self-titled debut album. To hear drummer Keith Strickland share the story of the song’s origin, it started as a joke no one could shake.

View this post on Instagram

“I’d been friends with Ricky [Wilson] since we were 16 in high school,” Strickland told Uncut (May 2015 print issue, published digitally April 12, 2026). “I walked in, and he’s playing the guitar and laughing. I go, ‘What’s so funny?’ and he says, ‘I’ve just written the most stupid guitar riff ever.’ And he plays the ‘Rock Lobster’ riff. He knew it was good, but he also thought it was funny — that was Ricky’s sense of humour.”

Add in frontman Fred Schneider’s signature sprechgesang, plus some sea creature sound effects courtesy of bandmates Kate Pierson and Cindy Wilson, and the track was ready for consumption. To their surprise, it was hit. “Rock Lobster” peaked at No. 56 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1980, topped charts in Canada, and even hooked the attention of one of rock’s biggest icons.

John Lennon said a few times that he liked the song,” Strickland recalled. “Of course, this is something we didn’t know until after he had been killed; so it was quite bittersweet to hear it. It blew my mind because The Beatles were the reason why I wanted to be an artist at all.”

Related: 1967 Track Named ‘Best Song’ From ‘The Ultimate Rock Star’

According to Uncut, the track even helped inspire Lennon’s return to the studio, where he began work on Double Fantasy with his wife, Yoko Ono.

"Rock Lobster," though it may sound like a joke or a good-time track, the band never treated it that way. “We started out as a party band,” Schneider told the mag, “and we all had a good sense of humour. But we don’t do our songs in a funny way, we want to kick a–. We want to rock.”

And rock, they do.

Wayfair’s ‘Gorgeous’ and ‘Bright’ Outdoor Area Rug Is an Easy Summer Refresh for Your Patio

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 6:15am

When it comes to upgrading your outdoor space, a rug might not be the first thing that comes to mind. This rug comes in a wide range of sizes, from 3 feet 3 inches by 4 feet 11 inches up to 8 feet 10 inches by 11 feet 9 inches, along with a runner option. There are four colorways to choose from, including orange and red, brown, blue and green, and dark blue. Each features a geometric medallion pattern that adds a bold, mid-century modern and contemporary feel to your space.

It’s also highly versatile, working just as well indoors as it does outside. You can use it to define a seating area on your patio, add color to a porch, or bring a low-profile accent into spaces like kitchens or entryways. The low pile height of 0.12 inches helps it handle high foot traffic and fit easily under doors.

Royal Caribbean Just Revealed its Most Ambitious Entertainment Roster to Date for the New Legend of the Seas

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 6:10am

If you thought the "biggest ship in the world" era had peaked, Royal Caribbean is here to remind us that they’re just getting started. This July, the new Legend of the Seas will set a new standard for entertainment at sea, blending headline-worthy productions across stage, air, water, and ice.

For those of us who track the evolution of cruising, this isn't just about more seats in the theater—it’s about a record-breaking 28 spots to dine and drink and a lineup of immersive experiences that feel more like a high-tech residency in Vegas or London than a traditional cruise.

While we’ve already heard about the arrival of Roald Dahl’s “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and the massive America’s Got Talent LIVE partnership, we now have the full picture of the "next-level" original productions.

In the AquaTheater, the new show Shockwave is being described as a "battle for the beat." It’s an aggressive, bass-dropping spectacle where street dance and classical ballet collide, featuring high-divers twisting through the air alongside aerialists and artistic swimmers. It’s a literal deep-dive into the "force and fragility" of water, set against a backdrop of synchronized robots and a 55-foot waterfall.

The ice is getting a tech-heavy glow-up too. Over at Absolute Zero—the largest ice arena at sea—the debut show Fusion will use high-resolution digital projection mapping to instantly transform the entire rink. The production capture the raw forces of fire, wind, and water, with all-star skaters performing jaw-dropping stunts on a surface that changes from a frozen wasteland to a fiery landscape in a split second.

But for families who live in the Surfside neighborhood, the "Experience Economy" is going a bit more whimsical. The newly announced Quack Bash is a massive, rubber-duck-themed block party complete with bubble-filled games and music, while the Larger Than Life Family Festival will turn the deck into a playground of giant ring-toss and darts. For a more "weathered and perfect" moment, the Voyage to Adventure parade will debut in the Royal Promenade, celebrating global destinations with a high-energy musical processional.

Taylor Farms’ New Easy Dinner Launch Upgrades Brussels Sprouts in the Best Way

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 6:02am

Brussels sprouts don’t have the best reputation, in large part due to their former bitter taste (it’s been crossbred out in the past few decades!) and previous generations’ tendency to boil them instead of roasting them for optimal crispiness.

Luckily for all of our taste buds, Brussels sprouts have had a resurgence in popularity recently, getting paired with ingredients like maple syrup, Parmesan cheese, or bacon for flavor explosions. Now, popular produce brand Taylor Farms is going all in on the vegetable with its latest launch. Taking to Instagram to announce three new products, the brand wrote that these are “not your childhood Brussels sprouts” before presenting veggie kits that are centered on the brassicas.

All three kits come with quartered Brussels sprouts and cook in ten minutes in the air fryer or in 20 minutes in the oven, with each serving clocking in at 80 calories. Korean BBQ comes with a Korean gochujang glaze, peach whiskey features a smoked peach whiskey glaze, and sweet & sour has a, you guessed it, sweet and sour glaze.

The product is available now at Walmart and Sprouts locations nationwide, reports produce industry website And Now U Know, and will roll out to additional retailers later this year.

Instagram commenters were thrilled with the announcement, writing, “Ohhh I'm so excited for these,” “Oh these sound delicious,” and declaring that they “Can’t wait to try these!”

In addition to this launch, Taylor Farms recently came out with a new protein-forward line that includes “ingredients such as whole wheat or chickpea flour in croutons and chips, whey protein in dressings, and protein forward greens such as kale and spinach. Cheeses naturally higher in protein including parmesan, mozzarella, and cheddar provide added protein, flavor, and texture in every bite,” the brand said in a statement.

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 6:00am

Typically, when people start planning to move somewhere new in retirement, they consider some old standbys, like Florida and the Sunbelt. But, for adventurous retirees who have the means, traveling outside of the U.S. to find their perfect new home may be an even more appealing option.

According to a new report, there's actually one country poised to be the best place for those looking to make international moves in retirement, and it has a surprising reason for being on everyone's radar right now. Keep reading to find out what that is, and what you need to know about moving there.

Finland Named Best Place for Retirees in 2026

Sorry, Florida, but there's a new hot spot for retirees looking to relocate. According to Investopedia, Finland may be the perfect place for retirees this year. That's due in no small part to Gallup's World Happiness Report naming Finland the happiest country in the world in 2026.

Some of the top qualities that earned the country this prestigious honor include:

  • Low crime rates
  • Strong sense of security
  • Year-round access to outdoor activities
  • Robust public transit systems
  • Solid international infrastructure that makes it easy to travel abroad

What You Need to Know About Retiring to Finland

Are you packing your bags yet? Before you start filling out paperwork and learning Finnish, it's important to understand the bigger picture of moving to Finland. First, it's not exactly an inexpensive place to live. According to Kiplinger, Finland's tax rates are high, which can hurt your budget if you're living on a fixed income. Of course, the tradeoff there is that the country has a strong social safety net, which is where that extra money you pay ends up.

That includes funding the country's public transit, free healthcare, and other social services. While the trade-off probably balances out financially, it could cause sticker shock if you're not expecting it.

The second thing to keep in mind is that Finnish winters are long. While active seniors can still use those colder months—and I do mean colder—to get outside and enjoy some winter weather activities, those who don't like the cold will not be happy here during the winter. Plus, Finland is home to the midnight sun, which means summer days are long and bright... but winter days are short and dark.

Additionally, those who move to Finland may still find themselves owing Uncle Sam a paycheck every year when tax time rolls around. And in some cases, you can find yourself paying taxes to both America and Finland, depending on what type of retirement income you're earning.

Finally, the country ranks high for quality of life. That means that despite everything else it has going against it, the people who live here are really happy. Whether that means that the good outweighs the bad, or that only certain types of people end up staying here for the long haul, remains to be seen. However, those who do call Finland home seem really happy to do so.

How to Retire in Finland as an American

Okay, now that you know the where and the why, I'll let you in on the how. Kiplinger says Finland's residency requirements are fairly laid-back, and you have to prove you have a private income of about $1,134 a month.

Americans are also required to prove that they are financially independent, have access to private insurance, and don't need to rely on Finland's vast social assistance network.

Think Finland sounds like the right place for you? Contact a financial planner to talk about your retirement goals and whether your income can qualify you for a residence permit so that you can put down new roots in retirement.

1965 Film Now Dubbed 'Greatest Rock Film Ever Made' Is a Timeless Celebration of Beatlemania

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 5:52am

When it comes to rock films, movies like Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense, The Who’s Tommy, and Bob Dylan’s Don’t Look Back are often cited as some of the best music movies of all time. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s in particular, rock acts like David Bowieand The Rolling Stones embraced visual storytelling to enhance their music’s connection with fans. Classical Music magazine, associated with BBC Music Magazine, has named its pick for the best rock film of all time. Their pick is a semi-documentary-style film captures a fictionalized day in the life of The Beatles and helped pave the way for the MTV generation.

Why A Hard Day’s Night Was Named the Greatest

Classical Music magazine revealed its list of the greatest rock films of all time, naming A Hard Day’s Night the greatest rock film. Premiering in 1964, the film debuted during the global explosion of Beatlemania, further solidifying the band’s global dominance.

"Hard Day’s Night (1964) isn’t just a rock film: it’s arguably the greatest rock film ever made. Directed by Richard Lester at the height of Beatlemania, it captures The Beatles with a mix of verve, wit, and unpolished charm few films about musicians have ever matched. Unlike later, glossy concert films, it feels immediate and alive: Lennon, McCartney, Harrison, and Starr move effortlessly between mischievous comedy and heartfelt performance."

Related: Rotten Tomatoes Names The No. 1 Movie of the 1980s

Storyline and Style

A Hard Day’s Night follows The Beatles—John Lennon,Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr—as they travel to London for a live TV show, evade screaming fans, deal with the chaos of interviews and scheduling, and get into comedic misadventures, including antics with Paul’s mischievous grandfather.

Rather than following a traditional plot, the film focuses on personality in a loose and playful style. Director Richard Lester’s fast-paced, irreverent approach helped redefine how film and music could intersect. The film’s quick cuts, visual gags, and performance sequences influenced MTV-era videos decades later and set the template for future band-centered movies and documentaries.

Lasting Impact on Music and Film

Smart, irreverent, and joyous, A Hard Day’s Night was seen as a trailblazing film at the time, offering a fresh take on music films rather than the traditional rock musicals starring Elvis and other musicians of the era. The film went on to redefine music movies and pave the way for the visual style and storytelling that would define the MTV music era.

1970 Classic Rock Hit Ranked Among Iconic Band’s All-Time ‘Greatest Songs’ Became a Career-Defining Anthem

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 5:51am

In 1970, The Who had a massive hit with a song that wasn’t originally meant to be a single. The song, “See Me Feel Me/Listening to You,” was from the rock opera Tommy and appeared as part of "We're Not Gonna Take It," the final track on The Who’s 1969 album of the same name.

The song peaked at No 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 on Nov. 28, 1970, amid a 13-week run on the music chart. More than 50 years later, “See Me, Feel Me/ Listening to You” remains the British rock band’s second highest-ranking song of all time and their signature closing anthem.

Rolling Stone ranked the 1970 hit as one of The Who’s greatest songs, noting that “See Me, Feel Me” was “released alone as a single after the Who’s triumph at Woodstock.”

“With its heraldic, redemptive ‘Listening to You’ coda, featuring Daltrey at his blond rock-god apex, ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It/See Me, Feel Me’ remains the high point of Who sets to this day,” the outlet added of the grand finale piece.

Woodstock changed the game for the song

On the Tommy album, “See Me Feel Me/Listening to You” are the second and third parts of the album's final track, “We’re Not Gonna Take It,” and are not listed as a separate single.

But during their set at the Woodstock Art and Music Festival in August 1969, The Who’s performance of “See Me, Feel Me,” headed by lead singer Roger Daltrey, was so powerful that record producers decided to release the “We’re Not Gonna Take It” outro as a single.

RELATED: 1970 Hit Film, Nominated for Rare Academy Award, Ranked Among Best Movies of All Time

Decades later, fans continue to go back to the song, describing it on YouTube as one of the most powerful musical pieces in rock history.

“The outro of this piece is some of the most moving music I’ve ever heard,” one fan wrote of the full Tommy track.

“This song is a prayer! Listening to you/ I get the music/Gazing at you, I get the heat/Following you I climb the mountain/I get excitement at your feet,” another wrote.

“I appreciate this band more every time I listen to them 50 years on,” another fan added, while another agreed that the song just gets “better each time you listen.”

Roger Daltrey said he found his identity as a singer with ‘Tommy’

In the rock opera Tommy, Daltrey played the “deaf, dumb, and blind” main character. In an interview with Goldmine, he marked the accompanying album as a defining moment in his career.

“The years previous, the original material I was singing was a person who had a lost identity searching for home,” he said. “Tommy brought me home. I’d been the deaf, dumb, and blind kid, and that music took me home. All of a sudden, I knew exactly what I was doing. I knew exactly who I was. I didn’t fear anything."

The rock legend also talked about the enduring popularity of “See Me, Feel Me” decades later.

“I don’t care who you are, you can be the hardest bastard on the planet, but one day in your life you will sit there saying, ‘see me, feel me, touch me, heal me’ feeling sorry for yourself,” Daltrey told Vice in an interview. “There’s a vulnerability that that music and those words create.”

1979 Yacht Rock Gem Just Named One of the Decade's Best Songs

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 5:31am

In 1979, one silky soft rock hit drew listeners in with a haunting story of love in a song that resonated far beyond its era.

“What a Fool Believes” became a standout moment for The Doobie Brothers, thanks to its effortless sound and heartfelt message. It’s one of those songs that only gets better with time.

The Michael McDonald and Kenny Loggins tune was named one of the best songs of the 1970s by U Discover Music. It landed on the list dedicated exclusively to rock music between Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" and ELO's "Mr. Blue Sky."

The song topped the Billboard charts in April 1979. It remained a standout track for 20 weeks.

McDonald spoke to The Guardian about the song's creation. He explained, “Kenny Loggins and I had been chatting about getting together to write some songs. He came over to my house in LA just as I was playing what I had for ‘What a Fool Believes.’"

"He said, ‘You were just playing something at the piano. Is that new? That’s what I want to work on first.’ He had already come up with the song’s hook line, 'She had a place in his life' before he’d got through the door.”

RELATED: 1970 Emotional Hit Topped the Charts, Now It’s Named One of the Decade’s Best

However, according to McDonald, recording the song proved to be more challenging than writing it. The Doobie Brothers recorded take after take, but they never found one they truly connected with.

It was up to their producer, Ted Templeman, to come up with a solution. He went through the piles of tapes the band had recorded and spliced them together to make a finished take.

"He walked into the control room and started cutting the tapes into individual sections right there. Back then, you were really going for broke when you physically cut the tape. But that’s what we used to make the record," McDonald explained.

The song tells the story of someone holding onto a version of a romance that only exists in their mind. It captures the quiet realization that the other person never felt the same way.

"What a Fool Believes" won two huge Grammy honors in 1980, for Record of the Year and Song of the Year. Today, it’s widely regarded as a defining yacht rock classic, celebrated for its smooth sound and emotionally rich storytelling.

Years later, "What a Fool Believes" still connects without needing much explanation. It just speaks for itself.

Nathan Hutsenpiller

A no-brainer pickup, no matter where you're shopping, hashbrowns of all shapes and sizes are always a top priority when I'm stocking up on grocery staples. Perfect as a quick addition to breakfast, a midday snack or even a late-night bite, hashbrown patties are a truly elite food that Trader Joe's has more than dialed in.

Sold in a 22.5-ounce box with 10 patties for just $2.99, Trader Joe's Hashbrowns are made with real Idaho-grown potatoes and are fully cooked, ready to heat in a skillet or bake in the oven. I personally like to pile a patty onto a homemade breakfast sandwich in the morning, or for a quick snack, toss them in the toaster oven, sprinkle with sea salt and dip in ketchup. You can also get creative, break them apart and mix them into scrambled eggs or enjoy them on the side of a larger breakfast spread.

6. Tandoori Naan, $2.99

Nathan Hutsenpiller

What makes bread so special is its rich place in food cultures around the world. As one of the simplest forms of sustenance, it can be transformed in countless ways, and naan is a perfect example of that versatility.

Trader Joe's Tandoori Naan is a frozen Indian-style flatbread made with unbleached wheat flour, milk and yeast, designed to be kept frozen and heated straight from the package. Each 12-ounce bag includes four pieces of naan that are soft, chewy and lightly charred, with a texture that becomes warm and pillowy when baked in the oven or quickly heated in a skillet or toaster oven.

Best served warm, this is an easy freezer staple for pairing with curries and soups or for using as a base for wraps, flatbread pizzas or simple quick bites.

7. Outside-In Stuffed Gnocchi, $3.69

Nathan Hutsenpiller

What's not to love about cheese-stuffed potato pockets doused in tomato sauce? Nothing, that's what. But when you flip the script and put both cheese and sauce inside, you've got Trader Joe's Outside-In Stuffed Gnocchi.

Sold in a 16-ounce bag for just $3.69, this frozen pasta-style dish is made with small potato gnocchi, rich tomato sauce and mozzarella. Designed to be cooked straight from frozen, it can be prepared in a skillet or microwave, resulting in a soft, pillowy bite with a savory, cheesy center. It works well as a quick main dish or side, and with a little extra sauce, veggies or garnishes, you've got the basis of a solid Italian-style dinner.

8. Taiwanese Green Onion Pancakes, $2.49

Nathan Hutsenpiller

One of the best $3 finds under the Trader Joe's roof, Taiwanese Green Onion Pancakes have easily become one of my favorite grocery pickups. They're super easy to prepare, requiring just a little vegetable oil in a pan and a few minutes on each side over medium heat, resulting in a deliciously fluffy side that pairs well with a wide range of Asian-style cuisine and beyond.

Each bag comes with five frozen Taiwanese Green Onion Pancakes, made from layers of dough and chopped green onions. With a flaky, crispy exterior and chewy interior once cooked, they come pre-formed and ready to heat. Serve on the side with a vegetable stir-fry, use for dipping sauces, pair with eggs or incorporate into a variety of quick, tasty meals.

9. Fancy Berry Medley, $4.49

Nathan Hutsenpiller

Every freezer needs a solid selection of frozen fruit. Whether it's an easy way to keep produce from going bad too quickly or simply a matter of convenience, frozen fruit comes in handy in a wide range of scenarios.

In the case of Trader Joe's Fancy Berry Medley, this easy-to-grab $5 bag is packed with an assortment of blueberries, blackberries and raspberries. Perfect for blending into smoothies, thawing and mixing into a fresh breakfast spread or enjoying straight from the freezer as a quick snack, this versatile bag is an easy addition to any well-rounded grocery haul. While you can often find a fresh version of this mix in the produce section, there's no beating the convenience and price point of the frozen offering.

10. Extra Fine French Green Beans, $2.49

Nathan Hutsenpiller

One of the earliest vegetables I remember enjoying as a kid, green beans have always held a special place in my heart. They can be entirely too bland or cooked to perfection, depending on how much effort you put in, and there are plenty of easy ways to upgrade a good batch. That said, it's the texture and firmness that really determine whether they hit the mark.

Trader Joe's Extra Fine French Green Beans easily hold up as a solid frozen veggie worth tossing in your basket. Known for their thinner, more delicate shape compared to standard green beans, they're blanched and flash-frozen to help preserve their bright color and fresh-picked texture, then packaged in a bag that goes straight from freezer to pan or a steam basket.

When cooked, they turn tender with a light snap and a clean, mild flavor, making them an easy side dish that pairs well with everything from simple weeknight meals to more elevated dinners alike.

11. Asian Style Vegetables with Stir Fry Sauce, $3.99

Nathan Hutsenpiller

As a big proponent of frozen veggies, I rarely turn down an intriguing Trader Joe's variety. When I first brought home TJ's Asian Style Vegetables with Stir Fry Sauce, I had my concerns, since not every stir-fry bag turns out the way you imagine. However, it quickly became an item I'd seek out on repeat trips for its affordable price point, depth of flavor and ease of use.

Sold in a 16-ounce bag for $3.99, this stir fry features a colorful mix of vegetables, including snap peas, broccoli, green beans, carrots, bell peppers, baby corn, water chestnuts and mushrooms, paired with a separate soy-based sauce packet you add at the end. The vegetables cook quickly while staying crisp and bright, and the sauce brings everything together with a savory, lightly sweet finish. It works well as a simple side over rice or noodles, but can easily be turned into a more complete meal with your favorite protein.

12. Teeny Tiny Maple Butter Tarts, $4.49

Nathan Hutsenpiller

There's just something about bite-sized desserts that makes them dangerously easy to love, and Trader Joe's Teeny Tiny Maple Butter Tarts are no exception. These limited-time treats are typically available only during fall and winter, delivering all the cozy, maple-forward flavor you'd expect from a classic butter tart in a perfectly snackable form.

Sold in a box of 12 for just $4.49, each tart features a flaky, buttery crust filled with a rich maple syrup mixture that turns gooey and caramel-like once warmed. They're designed to be heated in just a few minutes in the oven or air fryer, making them an easy dessert to serve after dinner, bring out for guests or keep on hand for a quick sweet fix. Small in size but big in flavor, if you blink, they'll disappear faster than you expect.

13. Morning Buns, $4.99

Nathan Hutsenpiller

Every so often, Trader Joe's drops a frozen bake-at-home treat that feels like something straight from a bakery, and Morning Buns are exactly that kind of find. Flaky, buttery and lightly sweet with a signature cinnamon aroma, they strike a satisfying balance of sticky, sugary and indulgent while still being surprisingly easy to make.

Sold in a box of four for just under $5, Trader Joe's Morning Buns are made with laminated croissant-style dough that you proof overnight, then bake into golden, layered pastries with a soft, pull-apart interior. The cinnamon-sugar filling melts into a light, caramelized base as they bake, while a hint of orange zest adds a subtle brightness that keeps them from feeling too heavy.

Best enjoyed straight out of the oven, this sticky treat works just as well as a slow weekend breakfast centerpiece as it does a quick grab-and-go snack with coffee.

14. English Muffin Breakfast Sandwich, $4.99

Nathan Hutsenpiller

In my opinion, there's no turning down a good breakfast sandwich. And while I'll always prefer one of a homemade variety, when it comes to quick and easy options, Trader Joe's English Muffin Breakfast Sandwiches easily hit the spot. It also doesn't hurt that they bear a striking resemblance to a McDonald's Egg McMuffin.

Sold in a box of two for just $4.99, each sandwich features a toasted-style English muffin layered with a pork sausage patty, scrambled egg and cheddar cheese. Designed to be heated straight from frozen in either the microwave or air fryer, they come out soft and hearty with a slightly crisp exterior and a warm, melty center.

While they're quick enough for busy mornings, they also work just as well as a midday or late-night bite when you want something filling without putting in much effort.

15. Crustless Peanut Butter & Strawberry Jam Sandwiches, $3.79

Nathan Hutsenpiller

When it comes to nostalgic childhood snacks, it doesn't get much better than the famed Uncrustables sandwiches. And even though the fan-favorite brand has had a stranglehold on the market for decades, Trader Joe's has quietly slipped in a reliable alternative that offers simpler ingredients with the same recognizable flavor and shape.

Sold in a box of four for $3.79, Trader Joe's Crustless Peanut Butter & Strawberry Jam Sandwiches are a frozen, ready-to-eat snack made with soft white bread, salted peanut butter and strawberry jam. Sealed and crustless in a familiar round-style format, these sandwiches are designed to be thawed before eating, whether sitting in the fridge or at room temperature until they reach a soft, chewy texture that closely resembles a classic PB&J. Convenient, portable and easy to keep stocked in the freezer, this is an ideal grab-and-go snack, simple lunch option or nostalgic bite whenever the craving hits.

16. Spicy Alfredo Fusilloni Pasta, $4.79

Nathan Hutsenpiller

I'm always on the lookout for something easy to make that is a full meal without the need for too much upgrading. Trader Joe's Alfredo Fusilloni Pasta perfectly fits that mold and quickly became a new favorite of mine after trying it for the first time this year.

Sold in a 16-ounce bag for $4.79, this Korean-Italian-inspired pasta comes together in minutes, whether cooked on the stovetop or in the microwave. As it heats, the frozen sauce pucks melt into a smooth, creamy coating that clings to the large spiral noodles, giving every bite a hearty, satisfying texture. This dish works perfectly on its own as a standalone meal, but can easily be leveled up with add-ins like vegetables or protein, or garnishes like Parmesan cheese and chili crisp, for a more filling dinner.

17. Rigatoni alla Contadina, $4.49

Nathan Hutsenpiller

In terms of easy freezer comfort meals that come together in minutes, Trader Joe's has a pretty solid track record of turning a simple bag of pasta into a full dinner with minimal effort. Rigatoni alla Contadina has long been a favorite of mine, something I grab literally every time I stop in for essentials. While it's not currently listed on TJ's website, don't let that deter you; I consistently find it in stock no matter the season.

Sold in a 16-ounce bag, it comes with frozen sauce pucks and a blend of asparagus, broccoli and green peas. As it cooks, the pucks break down into a rich, creamy sauce while the pasta stays pleasantly al dente, giving each bite a balanced mix of pasta, vegetables and creaminess. It works best as a quick, standalone meal, but can easily be bulked up with grilled chicken, black pepper and a dusting of Parmesan cheese.

18. Hatch Chile Mac & Cheese, $3.49

Nathan Hutsenpiller

Clinging to a very special place in my heart, mac and cheese will forever be my go-to comfort meal. And while Trader Joe's is no stranger to a good mac and cheese concoction, I've found a new favorite in the grocer's Hatch Chile Mac & Cheese.

Available in a 12-ounce portion for just under $4, this cheesy freezer staple heats fast, with a sauce that becomes smooth and velvety, coating the pasta evenly while bits of chile melt into the cheese. With a subtle spice in every bite, this one is perfect as a quick lunch, an after-school meal or an easy dinner on its own. It can also be upgraded with added protein, extra cheese or a drizzle of hot sauce for even more heat.

19. 3 Cheese Spinach & Artichoke Pasta, $3.79

Nathan Hutsenpiller

Growing up, my mom would make artichoke dip, which was my first introduction to the super versatile vegetable. I couldn't get enough of her dip's rich flavor and creamy base, which is exactly what had me interested in the prospect of Trader Joe's 3 Cheese Spinach & Artichoke Pasta.

Made with orecchiette-style pasta and a creamy blend of Swiss, mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses, along with spinach and artichoke pieces throughout, this $4 freezer find truly knocks it out of the park. Its rich, creamy coating, al dente pasta and hearty, savory vegetables make it a worthy repeat purchase, one that doesn't take up too much space in the freezer either.

Designed to heat quickly in the oven or microwave, it works well as an easy meal for one or as a side dish for a larger spread.

20. Steamed Chicken Soup Dumplings, $3.49

Nathan Hutsenpiller

I'm never one to turn down soup dumplings, and Trader Joe's consistently delivers a variety of frozen offerings worth trying. Admittedly, I'll always recommend friends try their local Chinese restaurant when looking for freshly made soup dumplings, but if you're looking for something that can live in your freezer until you're ready to eat, TJ's does not disappoint.

Trader Joe's Steamed Chicken Soup Dumplings are a frozen, microwaveable take on classic Chinese xiao long bao-style dumplings, filled with seasoned chicken and a small amount of savory broth that turns soupy as they steam. They come in a tray of individually portioned dumplings designed to be cooked straight from frozen in just a couple of minutes, making them an easy grab for a quick snack, light lunch or simple appetizer.

Best enjoyed hot, they deliver a tender wrapper with a juicy, flavorful center, often paired with soy sauce or chili oil, or eaten as-is straight from the tray.

21. Kimbap, $3.99

Nathan Hutsenpiller

At one time, a prized possession that shoppers would turn out in hordes to buy as many as they could at once, Trader Joe's Kimbap has a cult following for a good reason. Designed to be a quick snack that nearly serves as a small meal, this tasty Korean-inspired $4 freezer find is a must-try for anyone who loves sushi, as it's basically a larger, ready-to-eat version of a classic seaweed rice roll.

Trader Joe's Kimbap features sesame-seasoned rice, tofu and a mix of vegetables including burdock, carrot, spinach and pickled radish, all wrapped in a sheet of seaweed. Sold in an 8.11-ounce package for $3.99, it's designed to be heated in the microwave and comes pre-sliced into bite-sized pieces. Ready in just a couple of minutes, the result is a soft, slightly chewy roll with a savory, lightly seasoned flavor that's perfect as a quick snack, light lunch or freezer staple you reach for daily.

22. Chicken Gyoza Potstickers, $3.99

Nathan Hutsenpiller

Trader Joe's Chicken Gyoza Potstickers have become one of my go-to freezer staples, especially after using them as the base for a viral dumpling bake that took the internet by storm late last year. While that recipe leans into a more elevated, saucy preparation, these potstickers are just as solid on their own when you want something quick, filling and low-effort straight from the freezer.

Available in a 16-ounce bag for $3.99, these are fully cooked dumplings filled with chicken, cabbage and onion, and seasoned with soy sauce, sesame oil and ginger powder. Meant to be heated from frozen in a skillet, steamer or microwave, I prefer pan-frying for best results, as the bottoms crisp up beautifully while the wrappers stay soft and chewy. Even better, they work well as a midday snack, an easy dinner or a base for a more creative meal, whether served with soy sauce or chili crisp or added to soups and stir-fry-style dishes.

23. Butter Chicken with Basmati Rice, $4.49

Nathan Hutsenpiller

When I used to work in retail not far from a Trader Joe's store, Butter Chicken with Basmati Rice was a staple in my lunchtime rotation. You can never go wrong with tender chicken, creamy sauce and fluffy rice, which is why this classic dish hits the spot for most shoppers.

Trader Joe's Butter Chicken is an Indian-inspired frozen meal featuring tender chicken in a mild, creamy tomato-based curry sauce, served with basmati rice. Ready to eat in just a few minutes, it delivers a rich, savory flavor with a lightly spiced, buttery sauce that coats both the chicken and rice for an easy, complete meal. Simply keep it in the freezer between meals and pop it in the microwave for a few minutes when it's time to eat.

24. Handheld Chicken Pot Pies, $4.49

Nathan Hutsenpiller

First of all, if Trader Joe's Handheld Chicken Pot Pies don't become a permanent offering, I might just have to start a protest. Whoever came up with the idea to take one of my personal favorite comfort foods and turn it into an on-the-go snack deserves an award. Take notes, Hot Pockets, if these were around when I was a kid, I would have lived on them.

Sold in a nine-ounce box with two pot pies inside for $4.49, Trader Joe's Handheld Chicken Pot Pies take the classic comfort food and turn it into portable, empanada-style pastry pockets. Each one features a flaky crust filled with a rich chicken pot pie mixture made with dark meat chicken, peas, carrots and potatoes, designed to stay thick, creamy and mess-free when you bite in.

You can heat them quickly in the oven, air fryer or microwave, with results that are warm, savory and satisfying, whether you're grabbing a quick lunch, snack or semi-light comfort dinner.

Are Black Jeans Flattering?

Black jeans are the ultimate fit for most people and definitely a great addition to your closet, especially for those looking for a favorable denim choice. But are they particularly flattering?

If you ask D'Arcey, a good pair of black denim is a must-have, and can be flattering. But she always contemplates the choice based on her clients' needs.

"What I always consider is what is their body fit, and what is going to be the best fit," she says. "I always like to urge clients to choose styles that are timeless."

What To Wear With Black Jeans

While this color of denim is such a great one to own and to wear, styling black jeans might just be the hardest part of having a pair, especially if you're prone to overthinking. But have no fear—there's an endless array of options if you're unsure of what to wear with them.

Consider jackets and other layering tops, says D'Arcey. These almost always make for the perfect add-ons.

"A great leather jacket is always in style," she shares. "And then to go from day to night, layering is really popular. Whether that's done with a cashmere cardigan or blazer."

Mixing metals, as well as having good statement jewelry, can also help elevate a black denim look too, the stylist says. She also suggests a little secret tip that a lot of people haven't caught onto yet: the comeback of the skinny jean.

"Skinny is really back," she states. "I think it's back with a resurgence."

A black skinny jean might be the most popular way to wear this closet staple this season, according to the Vancouver-based stylist. While she reveals some people think the style has gone away, she says it's making a reappearance—and black denim is the perfect way to get back into it.

What Shoes To Wear With Black Jeans

One of D'Arcey's best tips when it comes to shoes? Wear something strappy or minimalist.

"For example, a slingback is more popular this year," she explains. "As well as a more strappy heel if you're looking to be a little more dressy."

Loafers are also a popular option for anyone "wanting to wear something that is a bit more straight or a wider leg," she says.

6 Best Black Jeans Outfit Ideas, According to a Celebrity Stylist1. Anything with a kitten heel

Edward Berthelot/Getty Images

Always the fashionable touch, kitten heels are a crucial accessory to any black denim outfit. According to D'Arcey, they're a good staple because they add just a bit of depth to a baggier, wide-leg jean, such as in the image above.

"The kitten heel is a great way to add a touch of height to a baggy black jean and give some refinement in the look," she says.

The celebrity stylist loves this kind of shoe so much, she'd pair them with more than just black denim.

"In my opinion, the kitten heel is the new flat for 2026!" she gushes. "Find them in cool colors like the Pantone Color of the Year, Cloud Dancer, [along with] slate gray, espresso martini, a red hue—like chili pepper—or a real splash with banana yellow. Two-tone is also very popular."

She also shares that adding a bomber jacket to this look is the ultimate way to get the outfit to its finest.

"A classic bomber jacket is a core wardrobe item that never dates and looks very chic with minimal accessories," she explains.

2. Pair with a loafer shoe

Edward Berthelot/Getty Images

"A great loafer makes a similar denim and leather bomber look more tailored," says D'Arcey.

Plus, you can add other small items to your outfit to get the elevated look that black jeans promise.

"Adding simple accessories like great earrings and a polished belt brings the outfit from off duty to elevated. This is a staple look," she shares.

3. Denim-on-denim

Jeremy Moeller/Getty Images

Denim-on-denim is generally a huge fashion statement, and it's no exception here. D'Arcey suggests wearing an all-denim outfit in order to get that must-have look that everyone will be lusting over.

"This is the epitome of the 'Canadian Tuxedo' with a fashion edge," she says. "The monochrome nature of the look, paired with chic 90's-inspired sunglasses, give it an it-girl feel, and the boots are the perfect finishing choice for footwear. Monochrome is always a simple way to look pulled together."

4. A simple white blouse

Don't underestimate a simple white blouse; everyone needs a reliable white blouse in their wardrobe. If you own one, it's essential to wear it with the blackest denim you own. This creates a look that is simple and chic, no matter where you're wearing it.

"This is a staple look that can be worn with loafers, heels, kitten heels and flats," D'Arcey explains. "One of my favorite looks is a great pair of jeans and a simple chic blouse or white button-down. Add a great handbag, and you are out the door in minutes, looking tailored, elevated and in style."

5. A skinny jean moment

Daniel Zuchnik/Getty Images

"This is not a drill, black skinny jeans are back!" D'Arcey says again. "I love them paired with wider leg boots and a looser fitting jacket."

She also explains that you can wear them with a strappy heel to get an even trendier look.

"They can also be done well with a minimalist strappy heel," she suggests. "Slingbacks have become a favorite trend this year."

6. A casual white T-shirt for the win

TheStewartofNY/GC Images

There's nothing like a tried-and-true white t-shirt to go with any kind of black jeans in your closet. D'Arcey suggests pairing them together for the perfect outfit.

"Black denim and a white t-shirt are always a perfect pairing," she explains. "Add the right jacket—in this case a lovely tan piece—on top with a minimal handbag with flats and sunglasses, and [you 're] instantly elevated."

Could This Be the Viral Latte Worth Traveling For This Summer?

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 5:10am

If you feel a sudden, inexplicable urge to drive forty minutes for a specific caffeinated beverage this week, don’t blame your lack of caffeine—blame the "Latte Travel" trend that is officially taking over the 2026 summer season. We first saw this phenomenon peak last year with the Fluffy Seagull Latte at Lighthouse Keeper’s Pantry in Yarmouth, Massachusetts. That peanut-butter-and-marshmallow-fluff concoction turned a quiet corner of Cape Cod into a destination-worthy pilgrimage, proving that if you build a nostalgic, "sinfully gourmet" drink, the crowds will find a way to get there.

But this year, the "Have Latte, Will Travel" movement has a new protagonist: the Raspberry Danish Latte.

It all started at Little Joy Coffee, a modest shop in the college town of Northfield, Minnesota. The drink itself is an architectural flex: housemade raspberry syrup, a double shot of espresso, and a thick layer of fresh cream cheese cold foam that mimics the tang of a pastry cream. When Little Joy’s manager, Serena Walker, posted a "DIY or Buy" video assessing the $8 drink, she reached a conclusion that every travel editor can appreciate: it is far too labor-intensive to make in your own kitchen, but it’s also a stretch to ask someone to buy a plane ticket for a berry latte.

In a move community-minded move, Little Joy decided to lean into the "steal this look" culture of the internet. Instead of guarding the recipe like a corporate secret, they invited every independent coffee shop in the world to put it on their own menu (with a playful "Not you, Starbucks" caveat). As of today, that "steal" has turned into a global map of over 400 locations across 24 countries, from Texas to New Zealand, all serving up the Minnesota-born recipe.

As Little Joy owner Cody Larson puts it, the goal was to help independent shops "raise the bar" and take back the market from the big-box chains. And it's working. Shops like 33 Peaks Café in Southlake, Texas, are reporting that they can’t even keep it on the regular menu because the housemade syrup disappears as fast as they can whisk it.

While the Fluffy Seagull was a love letter to New England’s "fluffernutter" roots, the Raspberry Danish Latte is a global experiment in what happens when a small-town idea goes intentionally viral. Whether you find yourself in a small village in the U.K. or a boutique bakery in Virginia, the message is the same: the memory you made on your road trip might just be anchored by a latte that a small shop in Minnesota was generous enough to share.

Last year, I stood in those 6:30 a.m. lines in Yarmouth for a taste of the Fluffy Seagull, and I can tell you that the "presentation" is only half the battle. The real reason these drinks go viral is that they offer a tiny, $8 analog escape—a reason to get out in the world, meet new people and try new things. In a world of automated everything, a latte that requires housemade syrup and creative vision that can't be bottled feels like the ultimate luxury you didn't know you needed.

Pixar's Groundbreaking 1995 Animation Is Regarded as One of the 'Best Movies of All Time'

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 5:00am

Which movies are the "best of all time" will always be subjective, no matter how many fans or critics swear their choices are the best. While one person's No. 1 film may be The Shawshank Redemption, another could have 2001: A Space Odyssey. However, despite the various lists with different No. 1 films, there are, in fact, films that are seen over and over again. They may be ranked differently on each list, but The Godfather, Citizen Kane, Star Wars, Jaws... they're all there, somewhere. And so is Toy Story.

Before the release of the 1995 film, it was rare for an animation to make it on a "best movies of all time" list unless it was specifically related to "best animations of all time." Ranked No. 71 on Timeout's "Best Movies of All Time" list, it sits at No. 99 on the American Film Institute's (AFI) "100 Years... 100 Movies" list. IMDb has it at 78, while Rotten Tomatoes has the film -- with a perfect 100% certified fresh score -- at 17. Despite a plot centered on sentient toys, Toy Story is beloved by kids and adults alike.

"We wanted to tell a good story, first and foremost, because we knew that's what audiences like - a good story and characters," Toy Story director John Lasseter told the BBC in 2001.

"We didn't want to do what was being done in animation, so we chose the buddy picture as the form," he said. "One of the things I love about the buddy picture is that, by nature, the stories are about characters that grow."

The film starred Oscar- and Emmy-winning actors, as well as fan favorites, including Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Jim Varney, Don Rickles, Wallace Shawn, John Ratzenberger, and Annie Potts.

The groundbreaking film was the first-ever feature film made entirely with 3D computer-generated imagery (CGI). But because the CGI available at the time made objects look more like plastic, Pixar created its own program, which eventually became known as RenderMan. This was able to "calculate every bounce of light, every shadow, and every reflection with real physics." In other words, it made the toys, people, and everything in the film look realistic.

It's spawned three sequels, and each subsequent film is arguably better than its predecessor. Toy Story 5, coming out this year, is already being hailed as the most anticipated film of the summer, thanks in large part to characters that, as Lasseter put it, "grow."

"When you can have a character that the audience likes from the beginning, but then you put them in a situation where they grow - I think that gives it a lot of heart," he said. "And that's where a lot of the enduring appeal is."
