If You’ve Got an Upcoming Trip to One of These Beloved Caribbean Destinations, the U.S. Is Begging You To Reconsider

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 10:22am

There is a certain kind of trip we build in our heads when we think about the Caribbean. It is all color and ease. Music drifting through warm air, water that looks edited in real life, days that feel longer simply because they are softer. And then, sometimes, reality interrupts the fantasy.

Right now, the U.S. Department of State is urging travelers to reconsider travel to Trinidad and Tobago, a destination long loved for its culture, Carnival energy, and coastal beauty. The advisory is not a suggestion made lightly. It is based on a combination of crime, security concerns, and recent instability that travelers need to understand before they book or board.

Don't miss a beat—subscribe now for trending travel updates and destination guides.

Why the U.S. Is Warning Travelers About Trinidad and Tobago

At the heart of the advisory is a Level 3 designation, which means travelers are urged to rethink their plans due to serious safety risks. According to the U.S. Department of State, violent crime is a significant concern across the country. This includes offenses that travelers cannot easily plan around: robbery, assault, sexual violence, and kidnapping. Many of these incidents are tied to organized gang activity, which has contributed to ongoing instability in certain areas.

There is also a broader layer of unpredictability. The advisory highlights risks of terrorism and notes that attacks could occur with little warning, potentially targeting public spaces like airports, hotels, markets, and restaurants.

Related: The U.S. Just Issued a Surprising Travel Advisory for This Popular European Destination

Recent developments reinforce the concern. In 2026, a state of emergency was declared following a spike in violent crime linked to organized gangs, leading to increased police and military presence. This does not mean every traveler will encounter danger. It does mean the margin for error is smaller.

What “Reconsider Travel” Actually Means for Your Trip

A Level 3 advisory does not prohibit travel. It signals that risks are elevated enough that you should actively weigh whether the trip is worth it. The U.S. Department of State uses this level when safety and security concerns are significant and can directly affect visitors.

In Trinidad and Tobago, that translates into real limitations. U.S. government employees, for example, are restricted from traveling to certain areas of Port of Spain at any time and are advised to avoid others at night, including some beaches and downtown zones.

It also means your experience may not match the destination you imagined. Spontaneity, one of travel’s greatest pleasures, becomes something you manage rather than embrace.

The Reality on the Ground: Crime, Geography, and Nuance

Carnival alone is one of the most dynamic cultural celebrations in the world. But like many destinations, experiences vary dramatically depending on where you go and how you travel. Crime is not evenly distributed. Much of the violence is concentrated in specific urban areas, particularly parts of Port of Spain. However, the advisory makes clear that even locations frequented by tourists are not immune.

There are also broader considerations travelers often overlook. According to Explore, emergency services and healthcare infrastructure may not meet U.S. standards in some areas, and disruptions such as roadblocks or increased security presence can make it harder to move around the country.

What Travelers Should Do Before Canceling or Committing

If you already have a trip planned, this is the moment to slow down and assess rather than panic. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Start with logistics. Review your accommodations. Are they in well-regarded areas with strong security measures? Check transportation plans. Pre-arranged transfers are often safer than improvising on arrival.
  • Stay informed. Travel advisories are updated regularly, and conditions can shift quickly. Monitoring updates from the U.S. Department of State is essential.
  • Think about timing. Daytime exploration may feel very different from nighttime movement, especially in urban areas. The advisory specifically highlights increased risks after dark in certain locations.

A Final Look Before You Book

Travel is rarely about perfect conditions. It is about perspective. But sometimes, the smartest move is not pushing forward. It is pausing, gathering information, and choosing the experience that aligns with how you actually want to feel when you arrive.

For me, it comes down to the kind of trip you want. If you are looking for ease, relaxation, and the freedom to wander, this advisory suggests you may not find that here right now.

Researchers Believe They Finally Figured Out How the Great Pyramids Were Built— And No, It's Not Aliens

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 10:17am

For decades, the construction of the Great Pyramid of Giza has sparked one of history’s biggest mysteries and plenty of wild theories. From secret lost civilizations to alien intervention, many people have struggled to believe that ancient humans alone could build something so massive and precise.

But new research suggests a far more grounded and equally fascinating answer.

The Breakthrough Theory

A recent study using advanced 3D modeling suggests the pyramid wasn’t built with massive external ramps, as previously believed. Instead, researchers, including computer scientist Vicente Luis Rosell Roig, think the ancient Egyptians used a hidden internal ramp system built directly into the structure.

This “integrated edge ramp” would have spiraled upward inside the pyramid as it was being constructed. Workers could move massive stone blocks along this internal path, leaving gaps in the outer layers that were later filled in, effectively erasing evidence of the ramp once construction was complete.

The theory helps explain several long-standing mysteries:

  • How over 2.3 million stone blocks were moved and placed
  • How construction stayed so precise without modern tools
  • How the pyramid could have been completed in roughly 20–30 years

Even more impressive, simulations suggest workers could place a block every few minutes, making the timeline far more realistic than previously thought.

So…Why Did People Think Aliens Built Them?

The alien theory didn’t come out of nowhere. The pyramids are astonishing feats of engineering:

  • Perfectly aligned with cardinal directions
  • Built with massive stones weighing up to tens of tons
  • Constructed over 4,500 years ago without modern machinery

Because of this, some people assumed ancient civilizations lacked the technology or knowledge to build them. But in reality, ongoing research continues to show that ancient Egyptians were incredibly advanced engineers, capable of complex planning, mathematics, and large-scale labor organization.

Is It Safe to Visit Egypt Right Now?

If this discovery has inspired you to book a trip, safety is likely top of mind. As of 2026, the U.S. State Department classifies Egypt as a Level 2 destination: Exercise Increased Caution. This means travel is generally safe, but visitors should stay aware of their surroundings and follow standard precautions.

There are a few important caveats:

  • Certain areas, like the Northern Sinai Peninsula, are labeled “Do Not Travel” due to security risks
  • Popular tourist destinations such as Cairo, Luxor, and the Red Sea resorts remain well-secured and widely visited
  • The most common issues for tourists are minor, like pickpocketing in crowded areas

In fact, major attractions like the pyramids have a strong security presence, and the tourism infrastructure is well developed.

Tips for Visiting the Pyramids

If you’re considering a trip, here’s how to make the most of it:

  • Visit early in the morning to avoid crowds and heat
  • Hire a licensed guide to better understand the history and new research
  • Stay hydrated and prepare for the desert climate
  • Respect local customs and guidelines
A New Way to See an Ancient Wonder

The Great Pyramid of Giza has stood for over 4,500 years, and we’re still uncovering its secrets. This latest research doesn’t just solve a mystery; it reshapes how we understand one of the world’s most iconic landmarks.

And perhaps the biggest takeaway? The real story is even more impressive than the myths. Because it turns out, one of humanity’s greatest wonders wasn’t built by extraterrestrials; it was built by people, using creativity, innovation, and an incredible amount of determination.

15 Pantry Ideas That Prove Storage Can Be Stylish, Too

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 10:15am

While the pantry is built to serve a practical purpose, you can still make yours stylish, regardless of whether it's sizable or short on square footage. Below, you'll find 15 examples of functional yet flair-filled pantries that prove that a bit of creativity can go a long way in making this essential component of kitchen storage look nice and elevated.

1. Lean a Ladder

It's always wise to make full use of the vertical space available to you in a pantry, and to fully embrace height, try bringing in a rolling ladder, as Tiffany Skilling, the founder of Tiffany Skilling Interiors, did here. It adds both practicality and a dose of charm.

2. Add Statement Lighting

Add a whimsical—and functional—touch to the pantry with an eye-catching, statement light, like this palm-inspired fixture that Megan Molten selected. It adds a lively touch to this otherwise moody, subdued pantry.

3. Go Big With Art

Annie Schlecter

Who says you can't embrace artwork in the pantry? If you have a large wall to fill, take a cue from the team at McBournie Richards and hang a large portrait or other meaningful piece in the space to infuse major personality into this area of the home.

4. Have Fun With Wallpaper

Wallpaper isn't going out of style anytime soon, and that means it's totally fair game for the pantry, too! Here, Cara Fineman, the founder of Dag Design, selected a peppy polka dot print that adds a dose of fun to this storage space.

5. Make Things Multifunctional

A larger walk-in pantry that Fineman designed serves as a true multipurpose spot—there's room for a makeshift workstation and more decorative open shelving, along with tons of concealed storage for housing all the essentials.

6. Paint the Doors

Consider painting the doors of your walk-in pantry, as Fineman did here, to distinguish it as its own designated space. The bold blue adds instant energy into the mix, but you can always choose a more subdued shade.

7. Pick a Pretty Backsplash

Tamara Flanagan

While we've seen a few stylish instances of wallpaper in walk-in pantries, you certainly don't have to go that route and can infuse color and pattern into the space with a traditional backsplash instead. Here, Kelly McGuill, the founder of Kelly McGuill Home, landed on a cheerful geometric design that pairs nicely with the soft blue paint color on the cabinetry.

8. Say Yes to Mesh

Artur Debat via Getty

Designers are beginning to use mesh cabinetry more and more, as exemplified by this space by the team at Adams + Beasley Associates. It's a wise choice because the material allows light to shine through and appears artful while providing privacy, ensuring that the items you're storing aren't creating visual clutter.

9. Don't Let Limited Space Stop You

Short on space? No problem! You can still tuck a pantry into a small nook like the one that Sarah Scales, the founder of Sarah Scales Design Studio, created here. Out of sight, out of mind (and off the kitchen countertops!)—you might be amazed at how much you can fit on just a handful of shelves.

10. Let Light Shine Through

You might also wish to save space when creating a pantry by opting for smaller doors that open inwards, as McGuill did here—these allow light to filter through yet fully conceal items on the bottom shelves.

11. Save Space With a Sliding Door

You could also try a pocket door for the pantry, as illustrated in this kitchen designed by Meredith Rodday, the founder of Meredith Rodday Design. Frequently seen in historic homes, pocket doors are still popular because they add character and are a major space-saver to boot.

12. Create a Morning-Ready Station

Sarah Scales

This pantry designed by Scales doubles as a welcoming coffee bar and breakfast station, complete with a few appliances and a toaster. There's no excuse to not enjoy the first meal of the day when all of the essentials are laid out within reach (and then can be neatly tucked behind closed doors!).

13. Arrange a Vignette

If you plan to keep your pantry doors open often, don't shy away from decorating the bottom shelf, as Scales did in this instance, bringing in a colorful bouquet of flowers that are meant to be admired. This bottom shelf can easily be used as a serving space when entertaining, too.

14. Keep It Simple

Erin Little

If a simple, soothing pantry is more your vibe, make like McGuill and keep decor to a minimum. Live indoor plants will go a long way in sprucing up the space, as will the addition of neutral, textural accent pieces and art.

15. Embrace Color

Color is the name of the game in this pantry that Fineman created, all thanks to the chic artwork (in a frame that corresponds beautifully with the cabinet color) and cookbooks aplenty. Who says storage can't be fun?

Hollywood’s Hottest Action Star Goes Full Dad Mode—Jason Statham Shares Rare Pics of His Kids

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 10:08am

He’s ‘A Working Man’, ‘The Beekeeper’, and an ‘Expendable.’ But actor Jason Statham is much more than a hunky action star. The 58-year-old, who has made a name for himself in high-octane thrillers like The Fast and the Furious franchise, The Meg, Mechanic, The Transporter, and of course, 2000’s Snatch, is also a proud dad.

Statham and long-term partner, actress and Victoria’s Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, have two children together: son Jack Oscar Statham (born 2017) and daughter Isabella Statham (born 2022). And while the private parents don’t often share photos of their little ones, Statham recently posted several pics on Instagram from a family vacation.

View this post on Instagram

As you might suspect, the action star goes big when it comes to trips. After battling a vicious megalodon in both The Meg and Meg 2: The Trench, scaling buildings, crashing his way through high-speed chases, and fighting some of the most formidable foes, we can’t imagine that Statham is content with sitting in a hotel room paging his way through a romance novel.

So where did the Stathams vacation? If you’re wondering just how far the star and his brood had to go, it looks like (based on the rest of his post) that the family took a trip to Turkey. Statham tags the luxury beachfront resort, Regnum the Crown, in his post, along with Regnum Carya. And clearly, this is one action-packed trip!

Statham’s recent post says it all. The first photo, a striking black-and-white shot of the famous dad, has all the intensity of one of his movie stills. Simply captioned “The Cave,” the rest of the carousel gives fans a better glimpse of the breathtaking surroundings. And as the name says, he’s in a cave. Of course, not just any cave. This one happens to have a crystal clear pool and a natural sunroof of sorts, with a prime view of the bright blue sky.

The absolutely amazing setting is the perfect backdrop to Statham’s carousel of family photos. Along with the black-and-white selfie, the actor includes several rare photos of his children. The rest of the family pics show Statham’s two children splashing through the water and enjoying time with their doting dad. In one shot, eight-year-old Jack stares into the camera, wearing fierce shark tooth-covered goggles. Maybe a throwback to his dad’s turn in The Meg franchise?

While Statham doesn’t often post pics of his kiddos, he did share a cute carousel of winter getaway shots in January. The family ski trip photos included mom, Rosie, pulling her littles on a wooden sled, four-year-old Isabella making snow angels, and the rest of the clan hitting the slopes.

Fans flocked to both posts, adding comments like, “Beautiful family…what’s not to love?” We couldn’t have said it any better!

152 Years Ago, a Group of Art Gallery Rejects Invented the Chaotic Aesthetic We’re Still Obsessed With

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 10:07am

Paris, 1874. A bunch of artists rejected by galleries got tired of being ghosted by the official art scene. They were broke, they were angry, and they were done with painting boring portraits of guys in powdered wigs. So they rented a photographer’s old studio, hung their canvases on the walls, and accidentally invented the modern vibe. Think fuzzy water lilies and dancers with the glowing skin.

The aesthetic exploded. Now, the visuals are everywhere: the posters. The coffee mugs and tote bags. That whole blurred beauty aesthetic dominating your feed right now? It started 152 years ago today. And the best part? It was originally meant as a joke.

Claude Monet was the ringleader. He hung a painting called Impression, Sunrise that looked more like a smoggy morning than a masterpiece. It’s a hazy, blue-and-orange view of a harbor, and in 1874, art snobs thought it looked like a total hack job. Critics went feral. One critic tried to end Monet’s career by calling the artist a "lunatic": meant as a 19th-century "ratio." He even joked that a preliminary drawing for a wallpaper pattern looked more finished.

Photo by DEA PICTURE LIBRARY on Getty Images

The First Impressionist Exhibition: Meet the Original Artists

Monet and his crew weren't interested in the stuffy rules of the past. They wanted the energy of the right now.

  • Berthe Morisot showed up with The Cradle, capturing the quiet, intense energy of a mother watching her baby sleep. She was the only woman in the original lineup, proving the "boys' club" couldn't gatekeep real talent.
  • Edgar Degas brought The Dance Class. He didn't want the perfect stage performance; he painted the girls stretching and slumped over in exhaustion. It’s the ultimate "backstage" content.
  • Pierre-Auguste Renoir delivered La Loge, a fashion-forward snap of a glamorous couple at the theater. It was the 1870s version of a front-row Fashion Week post.

They painted the feeling of living in the world we actually see: trains. People drinking at cafes. Girls in white dresses with grass stains. Because life isn't always posed. It’s often a  blur.

Photo by Mondadori Portfolio on Getty Images

Walk into any dorm room or minimalist apartment today and there's a chance you'll see the DNA of this 1874 exhibit. It’s the ultimate imperfect by design blueprint. Monet’s harbor is the 19th-century version of a lo-fi beats thumbnail.

These artists were the first real influencers. They stopped caring about what the experts said was good. They went outside, looked at how the sun actually hit the pavement, and painted that instead.

The Impressionists didn't try to make perfect art. They kept the brushstrokes visible and the colors raw. They showed us that a painting doesn’t have to be finished to be iconic. 152 years later, the Impressionists are still the main characters on every wall in the world.

Best-Selling 2024 Reese's Book Club Pick Thriller Ranked Among 'Best Books to Read on Vacation'

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 10:05am

Sure, summer is still a few months away. But with warmer weather peeking through the chilly spring afternoons, it’s hard not to think about packing your bags and heading out on summer vacation. Whether it’s taking a cruise around the Caribbean, camping in the mountains, or having a ‘staycation’ in your one-bedroom apartment with the windows open, we all deserve a break from the world to relax, soak in the sun, and catch up on some much-needed reading.

In 2025, Ellereported that the biggest vacation trend was going on a “reading retreat.” Bookworms and bibliophiles step away from the hustle of modern life, put down their phones, and pick up their books. Yet, with so many books to choose from, what does one crack open when getting away from the world? How about a “captivating thriller that delves into the intricacies of identity, deception, and the relentless pursuit of survival?”

Released in 2024, Ashley Elston’s First Lie Wins tells the tale of Evie Porter, a “nice, Southern girl,” with a doting boyfriend, a house with a white picket fence and a garden, and a fancy group of friends. Except, Evie Porter is a lie—a fake identity given to her by a “Mr. Smith,” and a target: Ryan Summer. It’s a gripping game of cat and mouse, of juggling identities and deception.

View this post on Instagram

The novel is also a No. 1 New York Times Bestseller, a selection for Reese Witherspoon’s Reese’s Book Club, and one of Penguin Random House’s “Best  Books to Read on Vacation.”

The Happy Reader, who described Best Lie Wins as that “captivating” page-turner, said that author Elston “skillfully weaves together two timelines, alternating between Evie’s present-day predicament and her past assignments orchestrated by the enigmatic Mr. Smith.” The novel’s main character, Evie, is a “compelling and multi-dimensional lead, grappling with the consequences of her actions while striving to carve out a future for herself.”

GoodReads gives the book 3.99/5 Stars, with 249k five-star reviews and 365k four-star reviews.

Related: 5 Novels To Read After Watching ‘People We Meet on Vacation’

“Prior to writing fiction, I was a wedding photographer,” Elston told 225in 2025. “I took a step back from that and suddenly had more free time on my hands, and I’ve just always loved to read. My first book was terrible, but I felt more equipped after writing it. The next book I wrote was published and sold. No one was more surprised than I was that I became an author.”

In January, Elston released Anatomy of an Alibi, her first novel since First Lie Wins.

Initially, Octavia Spencer and Grey’s Anatomy showrunner Krista Vernoff are adapting First Lie Wins into a film for Hulu. In February, screenwriter Kevin Williamson (Scream) took over the project for Universal TV.

There is no news on a release date, so this upcoming summer vacation is a great chance to read the book if you haven’t already.

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 10:00am

Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally’s relationship is a comedy match made in heaven. The pair have both enjoyed successful runs on classic NBC sitcoms where they played iconic characters. As a result, this couple seems to fit each other perfectly, both personally and professionally.

The comedy duo has amazing chemistry both onscreen and off, having played opposite each other on numerous occasions. In fact, they have even co-authored a book together, 2018’s The Greatest Love Story Ever Told: An Oral History. Does love get any better than this?

How did Nick Offerman meet his wife, Megan Mullally?

Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally met in 2000 when they were acting in a play together, specifically an Evidence Room Theatre Company production of The Berlin Circle. However, it was not love at first sight—at least not on Mullally’s part, with the Will & Grace star admitting Offerman’s look was “not cute … There was a lot of back hair.” Considering the fact that he was apparently wearing gold overalls that doubled as a notepad because “he couldn’t afford paper,” we can assume her assessment to be accurate.

Even so, it didn’t take long for the costars to hit it off. On a 2018 episode of Conan O’Brien’s podcast Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend, Offerman described the pair getting physical early on in their relationship in a Los Angeles canyon park in front of some coyotes.

“It was early on and I feel like so many of the pleasures in our marriage have been cruise-directed by Megan, and this was no exception. After our play one night, we went to a fancy grocery store, which was a new thing for me, and got a baguette and cheeses and a bottle of nice wine, and she knew the park. She may have been there before me …"

"It wasn't my first coyote," Mullally retorted.

The couple married a mere 18 months after meeting.

How old was Megan Mullally when she met her husband, Nick Offerman?

Megan Mullally was 41 when she met Nick Offerman in 2000 while the two were starring in a play together. For his part, Offerman was 29—a fact Mullally wasn’t initially aware of.

She told GQ, "When we met, I was 41, and I'd always had younger guys pursue me, and I was really sick of it. And so I met Nick and I thought, Oh, great, 'cause this guy's like 38!'"

Mullally made the assumption about Offerman’s age partially due to his appearance for the play they were working on, which had him sporting a mustache and a bald head.

When Mullally discovered the 11-year age difference between them, “I was pissed,” the Emmy winner exclaimed. “I thought he looked old! And he was mature, so when I found out he was 29, I said these two words: 'You motherf**ker.' And I almost ran my car off the road."

Despite the age difference, the two hit it off and were married 18 months after meeting.

When did Nick Offerman get married?

Frank Trapper/Getty Images

Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman threw a surprise wedding in September 2003, 18 months after they first met. As it took place the day before that year’s Emmys, the 20 guests who were in attendance believed they were just attending a pre-Emmys party. In fact, Mullally repurposed her wedding outfit—a white bustier and white trousers—for the Emmy Awards the day after.

Did Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally meet on Will & Grace?

Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally did not meet for the first time on the set of Mullally’s hit NBC sitcomWill & Grace, though Offerman has made multiple appearances on the series. Offerman and Mullally actually met in 2000 when they were both starring in an Evidence Room Theatre Company production of The Berlin Circle.

Was Nick Offerman ever on Will & Grace?

Nick Offerman appeared on Megan Mullally’s hit sitcom Will & Grace multiple times, in the season 4, episode 10 story titled “Moveable Feast: Part 2” as Jackson Boudreaux, and in the season 9, episode 8 story “Friends and Lovers” as Nick. Season 4 was part of the show’s original run, while Season 9 was part of the show’s reboot years later.

Mullally for her part has appeared as a recurring character on Offerman’s hit NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation as the ex-wife of her real-life husband’s character. The running joke of the tumultuous nature of their characters’ relationship is one of the best plotlines of the series, with multiple “Ron and Tammy” episodes occurring throughout the show’s run.

Why didn't Nick Offerman have kids?

Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman actually did try to have kids early on in their marriage. Mullally explained, "I never had a burning desire to have children. But then I met Nick, and I thought, 'This is the only person I'd do this with.' So we tried, but I was a little long in the tooth for that sort of thing. We tried for about a year or so, and it didn't happen, and took that to mean it wasn't meant to be."

Offerman has admitted that the child-free path has “probably” helped their relationship.

’80s Thriller Starring Two-Time Oscar Winner Ranked Among 'Worst Movies of All Time'

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 10:00am

What was meant to be a promising continuation of a major Hollywood franchise is now labelled among the “worst movies of all time.”

Released in 1987, Jaws: The Revenge, the fourth and final installment in the cult-classic Jaws franchise, failed to reach the success of the 1975 cinematic masterpiece by the renowned filmmaker Steven Spielberg.

Helmed by the award-winning director Joseph Sargent, Jaws: The Revenge was originally intended to revive the iconic shark saga, but instead of positive reviews, the movie drew harsh criticism from viewers and critics.

Despite its connection to Jaws, which was widely regarded as one of the greatest ever made, the sequel’s weak storyline and subpar special effects did little to overshadow its high-profile cast, which included notable names such as two-time Oscar winner Michael Caine, along with fellow lead stars Lorraine Gary, Lance Guest, Mario Van Peebles and Karen Young.

In a ranking on Rotten Tomatoes, they revealed the top 100 films that gained very low scores on their Tomatometer, the percentage of approved professional critics who gave the TV show or film a positive review.

Jaws: The Revenge secured No. 49 on the list of the “worst movies of all time,” with negative feedback focusing on the “illogical, tension-free and cut-rate special effects” that critics observed.

Moreover, Rotten Tomatoes also described the thriller movie as a “sorry chapter in a once-proud franchise.”

Critics pointed out the “rushed production” and “sloppy execution” that made the sequel a flop.

In addition to its infamous reputation, the fourth installment was nominated for Worst Visual Effects at the Golden Raspberry Awards, also known as the Razzies, the opposite of the Oscars, which honor the worst cinematic achievements of the year.

The final installment of Jaws focuses on the story of Ellen Brody, played by Lorraine Gary. She is a widow struggling to rebuild her life after a series of deadly shark attacks that her family faced.

However, as she attempted a fresh start, their trip was disrupted when she and her family once again found themselves threatened by the presence of another flesh-eating shark in the Bahamas.

As for Caine, he played the role of Hoagie, the pilot who got entangled in another shark-fueled disaster.

Speaking of the award-winning actor, he did not regret starring in the poorly rated movie; however, he once described it as “one of the worst pictures” that he had done.

Despite having a small part in the movie, Caine told the Australian news reporter Andrew Denton that he was paid “a million dollars for two weeks' work.”

According to him, he spent the money to buy his mother a house.

“Someone said to me, ‘I saw that Jaws 4. It stinks,” he responded and said, "I have never seen the film, but by all accounts it was terrible. However, I have seen the house that it built, and it is terrific."

This New Family Experience Feels Straight Out of a Classic TV Show

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 9:57am

For generations, Mister Rogers' Neighborhood has been a gentle, comforting presence teaching kids (and adults) about kindness, feelings, and what it means to be a good neighbor. Now, that legacy is getting a joyful, real-world extension in a way fans won’t want to miss.

This spring, Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood—the animated series inspired by Fred Rogers' timeless lessons—is coming to life at the Bronx Zoo with a first-of-its-kind immersive experience.

Running from May 22 through September 7, the new attraction invites families to step inside Daniel Tiger’s world through interactive play, live entertainment, and meaningful moments designed to echo the heart of the original series.

For longtime fans of Rogers, who died in 2003, the experience is more than just a kids’ event—it’s a continuation of the values that made Mister Rogers' Neighborhood so special. Themes like emotional awareness, empathy, and curiosity are woven throughout, now paired with wildlife education and hands-on discovery.

What You'll Find In 'Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood'
  • Live musical shows featuring familiar songs and messages
  • A climbable, life-sized Trolley straight out of the Neighborhood
  • A sensory-friendly replica of the iconic Music Wall
  • A nature-themed seek-and-find walk through the zoo
  • There will also be character meet-and-greets, photo opportunities, and bilingual programming to make the experience accessible and engaging for a wide range of families

While the experience taps into the warmth of childhood memories, it also reflects how those lessons continue to evolve for a new generation. Just as Rogers once reminded viewers to
"look for the helpers," this interactive world encourages kids to explore their emotions, connect with others, and develop a sense of care for the world around them, including animals and nature.

Access to the experience is included with admission to the Bronx Zoo, where visitors can also explore more than 11,000 animals across 265 acres of parkland.

For anyone who grew up with Mister Rogers or is now sharing that world with their own children, this immersive experience offers a rare chance to step inside a neighborhood that has always felt like home.

Meghan Markle Quietly Repeats a Fashion Play From Her 2018 Royal Tour

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 9:56am

Meghan Markle learned a thing or two during her 2018 Australian royal tour that she’s applying to her current trip around the country with Prince Harry.

The Duchess of Sussex, 44, touched down in the land down under with Harry, 41, on April 13 before kicking off their busy schedules of paid and philanthropic appearances over the next four days. Although this is not an official royal tour, as the couple is no longer working members of the British royal family, Meghan quietly followed the same fashion rule of wearing mostly Australian designers.

For their first visit to the Royal Children’s Hospital, Meghan wore a navy sleeveless Priscilla dress by Australian luxury fashion brand Karen Gee. The sculpted lines were juxtaposed with a softly structured skirt and gold button detailing. She paired the frock with Dior pumps and Cartier jewelry, including her late mother-in-law,Princess Diana’s, gold tank Française watch.

She then highlighted Australian brand St. Agni in a monochromatic ensemble, wearing a dark khaki utility bomber jacket and a coordinated column skirt. After removing the jacket, she revealed a high-neck tank by Aussie brand P. Johnson.

Meghan representing Australian brands during her tour around the country is straight out of the royal tour playbook. During her 2018 tour, the As Ever founder’s wardrobe was a mix of neutrals and tailored silhouettes by Australian brands like Karen Gee and St. Agni.

When it comes to public appearances, Meghan knows what she’s wearing is an extremely important detail. During her 2018 tour, she wore black skinny jeans by Outland Denim, a brand that employs victims of human trafficking. She used the outing as an opportunity to bring attention to a cause she’s passionate about.

“There was a long time where… I wasn’t out talking,” Meghan said on "The Jamie Kern Lima Show" podcast in 2025. “So if you couldn’t hear me, how could I be heard through what I was wearing, if that was what people were focusing on?”

RELATED: Princess Diana's Quotes on Motherhood and Parenting

Meghan knows the world is watching her fashion choices, and she uses the attention to amplify brands she loves.

In another interview with the New York Times in 2024, the Duchess said, “Times where I know there is a global spotlight, and attention will be given to each detail of what I may or may not be wearing, then I support designers that I have really great friendships with, and smaller, up-and-coming brands that haven’t gotten the attention that they should be getting. That’s one of the most powerful things that I’m able to do, and that’s simply wearing, like, an earring.”

Since leaving the royal family, Meghan has been able to speak more candidly about her personal experiences with fashion and beauty. During a makeup-free podcast interview with IT Cosmetics founder Jamie Kern Lima in 2025, the former Suits actress said, "I remember [I could not be submitted] for beauty or skincare ads because I had freckles … They're like, ‘No, no, no, no. It’s just never gonna work because freckles aren't a sign of beauty.’”

Meghan recalled “hearing no all the time” at auditions. “I wasn't cookie-cutter for a specific type,” she explained. "And at the start of my auditioning career, you were either the Black girl or the white girl or the Latina girl or the like, everything was typecast."

1970 Soft Rock Track Won an Oscar for 'Best Original Song' and Became a Hit Cover

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 9:53am

In 1970, director Cy Howard released the romantic comedyLovers and Other Strangers that became a box office and critical success. Alongside its stellar cast, the film also released its title track that earned an Oscar 52 years ago and was then covered by one of the '60s popular music duos.

"For All We Know" was a soft rock track written specifically for the film by Fred Karlin and sung by Larry Meredith. The song's lyrics were created by Robb Wilson, also known as Robb Ryer, and JamesArthur Griffin, also known as Jimmy Griffin, from the popular rock band Bread. The track, alongside the movie, was nominated for multiple Oscars and won Best Original Song for "All We Know."

Lovers and Other Strangers was adapted from a 1968 Broadway play by Renee Taylor and Joseph Bologna. Its storyline focused on Susan Henderson (Bonnie Bedelia) and Mike Vecchio (Richard Castellano) having kept their secret of living together for over a year from their traditional families. When they finally announce a proper engagement, their families' own troubles take center stage.

What should be a happy occasion turns into drama as Susan's father has been sleeping with his wife's best friend. Mike's brother and his wife are considering divorce, and his parents are trying their best to stop them from going through with it. The film was a hit among critics, with Richard Castellano as Frank Vecchio earning an Oscar nomination.

The film was also the big screen debut of Diane Keaton, who played the role of Joan Vecchio, with Sylvester Stallone having appeared in an uncredited role as one of the groomsmen. Jerry Stiller also appeared in an uncredited role as a character named Jim.

While the film and its title track gained recognition, the hit song surged in popularity when it was covered by the brother-and-sister duo of the '60s, The Carpenters. Richard Carpenter had heard the song while watching a movie on tour and felt it was perfect for the duo. The track ended up becoming a hit for them in 1971 and entered the Billboard Hot 100 charts at No. 3 and No. 1 on the US easy listening charts.

Richard originally met with Jose Feliciano to play the guitar intro after the musician expressed he was a nig fan of the duo. After Feliciano recorded his part, his manager called Richard and demanded that he be removed from the track. With no other choice, Richard agreed and replaced the guitar part with Earle Dumler's oboe. At the time their cover was released, the film track was up for an Oscar, but the duo wasn't allowed to perform the track on stage. Instead, they requested British singer Petula Clark to perform it.

Best-Selling Author’s Hit Novel Ranked No. 1 Fiction This Week

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 9:50am

A new fantasy hit has officially taken the top spot on TBR lists everywhere.

Starside by Alex Aster has been named the No. 1 hardcover fiction book on the The New York Times bestseller list this week, marking yet another major milestone for the rising literary star.

The novel's chart-topping debut reflects Aster's growing popularity among readers, particularly fans of fantasy and young adult fiction. Known for her immersive world-building and high-stakes storytelling, Aster has quickly built a dedicated following that continues to propel her books to bestseller status.

Starside follows a young heroine navigating a dangerous, star-linked realm, often referred to as "Starside," where alliances are fragile and secrets can be deadly. As she becomes entangled in political intrigue and shifting loyalties, she's forced to confront both external threats and her own hidden past.

View this post on Instagram

While Starside is her latest success, Aster first gained widespread attention with her breakout novel Lightlark, which became a viral sensation ahead of its release and went on to debut as a New York Times bestseller. The book introduced readers to a richly imagined fantasy world filled with curses, rulers and deadly competitions, helping establish Aster as a major voice in the genre.

She followed it up with Nightbane, a highly anticipated sequel that expanded the universe and deepened the story's central conflicts. Like its predecessor, the novel drew strong interest from fans eager to return to Aster's intricate storytelling. But, unlike Aster's earlier novels, Starside was largely kept under wraps.

"I wanted to keep it a secret as long as possible, because I had been writing it for years before that point, and I really wanted to just keep it mine," Aster told Cosmopolitan. "It meant a lot to me, and I wanted to get back to that place that I used to be in when I was 12-years-old and first starting to write books."

With Starside now claiming the No. 1 spot, Aster continues to build on that momentum. The novel's success signals not only the strength of her existing fan base but also her ability to attract new readers with each release.

"Now authors have a lot more power, especially if they have a social media presence," explained Aster. "I do all the marketing myself for social media. I'm the one recording the videos, editing them, posting them. It's obviously extra work that did not exist 20 years ago. For an author, my job is very different than it was before, because social media exists. But if the readers hadn't responded to every release, the next one wouldn't have happened."

As the fantasy genre continues to dominate bestseller lists, Aster's rise stands out as one of the most notable in recent years.

"Starside is my favorite book that I've ever written, and it was such a portal and such an escape for me," said Aster. "I hope that readers find the same escape in the book."

With multiple hits already under her belt and another chart-topping novel to her name, she is quickly solidifying her place as one of today's most popular bestselling authors.

‘I Was Diagnosed With Stage IV Colorectal Cancer at 26—I Wish I Took This Early Symptom More Seriously’

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 9:50am

You have probably seen the statistics about how colorectal cancer is on the rise, particularly among younger adults. According to the Cancer Research Institute, one in five people diagnosed with colorectal cancer is under 55 years old. You’ve seen it take the lives of celebrities like James van der Beek and Chadwick Boseman, who were both in their 40s when they died.

“The reasons why colorectal cancer is being diagnosed in younger adults are not clearly understood,” says Dr. Bassam Estfan, MD, a gastrointestinal oncologist at Cleveland Clinic. That said, Dr. Estfan explains that the rise is likely largely due to environmental factors, such as diets high in ultraprocessed foods and living a primarily sedentary lifestyle. “A lot of times when colorectal cancer is diagnosed in a younger adult, we can’t figure out the exact reason why,” Dr. Estfan says.

Seeing the statistics or reading the headlines is vastly different from receiving a colorectal cancer diagnosis firsthand. David Lyon, who is 31 and lives in Pennsylvania, was 26 when he was diagnosed with Stage IV colorectal cancer that had already spread to his liver. His chances of living were just 10%. Fortunately, he defied the odds and is now in remission.

We talked to Lyon about his experience as well as with Dr. Estfan, who is Lyon’s doctor, about ways everyone can lower their risk of this particularly devastating form of cancer.

David Lyon

The Earliest Symptoms He Experienced

Before he was diagnosed, Lyon’s life was typical for a guy in his 20s. Cancer didn’t run in his family, with the exception of his grandfather, and he lived an active lifestyle, playing hockey several times a week. Colorectal cancer was the last thing on his mind, especially since colorectal cancer screenings aren’t recommended until age 45 for people of average risk.

“The first symptom I had, which I didn’t think about until later on, was weight loss. I didn’t credit it to being sick because I was going to the gym and playing hockey a lot,” Lyon says.

The next symptom Lyon says he experienced was bleeding when he went to the bathroom. But he says that even that symptom wasn’t overt enough for him to be worried. “It wasn’t a constant thing, so I wrote it off,” he tells Parade

Then came the symptom Lyon couldn’t ignore, a pain so excruciating that he couldn’t even stand up straight. Lyon called his primary care provider, who suggested that he go to a local digestive center for testing. The doctor at the digestive center suggested Lyon get a colonoscopy, which was scheduled for a few days later.

During Lyon’s colonoscopy, the doctor discovered a mass, which was biopsied. Three days later, the results of the biopsy came back and Lyon underwent additional scans. It was then that he was diagnosed with stage IV colorectal cancer, which had spread to his liver. This is exactly what makes colorectal cancer so devastating: Symptoms don’t typically show up until the cancer is at an advanced stage.

“I was so angry when I got that call,” Lyon says. “I remember that I stood up, threw my hat against the wall and just walked out of the house. It was just not news I was expecting at 26 years old,” Lyon explains. He says it was especially hard to understand why this had happened to him after his doctor explained that his diagnosis was completely unrelated to the fact that his grandfather had cancer. No doctor could explain why he got cancer.

Treatment and a Life-Saving Surgery

While Lyon was still struggling to accept his diagnosis, his doctors were focused on doing everything they could to save his life. When Lyon shared his diagnosis with his boss, his boss urged him to reach out to a doctor he knew at the Cleveland Clinic for treatment, which Lyon did.

His oncologist, Dr. Estfan, recommended Lyon start chemotherapy. Forced to accept what was happening, Lyon agreed. “I told my doctors that I didn’t want to know the specifics, such as if there was a timetable to my life. I would listen to them and follow their advice, but I still wanted to live my life as a 26-year-old,” Lyon says. Honoring his wishes, Lyon’s doctors communicated any vital news to his mom.

Lyon underwent chemo for three years, and during that time, he says he still tried to live life as normally as he could, continuing to work and play hockey with his friends.

“After a while, the tumor started to shrink, and my colorectal surgeon felt confident enough to go in and remove the origin of my cancer on my colon,” Lyon says. The surgery was successful. Then, the focus shifted to treating Lyon’s liver, which the cancer had spread to. Lyon underwent specialized radiation targeting the liver. Known as Y-90, this type of radiation is used before a liver transplant to help “bridge” patients, helping to shrink tumors and kill cancer to prevent them from spreading and growing while waiting for a liver donation.

Lyon doesn’t remember how long he was on the transplant list, but he says that his mom received a call about an available liver shortly after he was put on the list. They flew to Cleveland the next morning, and Lyon underwent transplant surgery the following day. He remained in the hospital for two weeks and was then able to go home. It’s been one year since Lyon’s transplant, and now he’s cancer-free.

How To Lower Your Risk of Colorectal Cancer

As Lyon’s health journey shows, there is no way to fully protect yourself from getting cancer. Lyon was young and lived an active lifestyle, yet he still got cancer. Because of this, Dr. Estfan says that it’s crucial to go to the doctor any time you are experiencing a health change that isn’t normal for you. For example, this could be suddenly losing weight without meaning to (like Lyon experienced) or having changes in bowel habits.

Next, Dr. Estfan says to focus on what you can control, which is your diet and lifestyle. He recommends following a Mediterranean-style diet, eating lots of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, plant-based proteins and seafood while minimizing consumption of ultraprocessed foods, alcohol and soda. He adds that not using tobacco and living an active lifestyle can also help reduce the risk of cancer.

Last, Dr. Estfan says to stay on top of recommended cancer screenings. The American Cancer Society’s website has a clear guide of which screenings they recommend for people of average risk by age. If you have a family history of cancer, be sure to tell your primary care provider and discuss being screened for relevant cancers earlier. Remember, symptoms of colorectal cancer don’t typically show up until the cancer is at a late stage, which is why being screened is so important.

Knowledge is power, and the knowledge you can get from cancer screenings can truly be life-saving. Don’t let the opportunity to learn about your body pass you by. It just might save your life.

Disneyland Moving Forward With Plans to Demolish Monsters, Inc. Attraction to Make Way For New Avatar Land

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 9:49am

Though we're still a few years away from the official opening of Disney's highly anticipated Avatar Land on the West Coast, the iconic theme park company has reportedly filed demolition permits to clear away a popular attraction.

According to The New York Post, the new permits are specifically tied to Disney's California Adventure, which would see the demolition of Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! to help make room for the new Avatar-themed area of the park.

As per The New York Post's findings, the new permits cover the existing Monsters, Inc. building as well as the Hollywood Lounge location, marking a major step forward with Disney's plans to expand and renovate the property.

However, Disney was quick to emphasize that the permits are all part of early planning for the park's future projects, with Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to Rescue! currently slated to remain open until 2027.

Opening in January 2006, Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! offers a dark ride retelling of Pixar's beloved 2001 film, Monsters, Inc. As with several other iconic Disney dark rides, the attraction specifically takes guests through key scenes of the film, allowing riders a face-to-face encounter with some of the movie's most recognizable characters.

Despite its popularity among visitors, Disney has since confirmed that Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! would be permanently closed to make room for the park's upcoming Avatar land.

Like its sister counterpart in Disney's Animal Kingdom on the East Coast, the new version of Avatar Land will take visitors to the furthest reaches of outer space, inviting them to step foot into the luminescent world of Pandora. Along with a scenic boat ride, the new park area will also feature a unique emphasis on water-based environments, taking notable inspiration from the more recent Avatar sequels.

1935 Boris Karloff Film Ranked Among ‘Best Horror Movies of All Time’

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 9:49am

Rotten Tomatoes recently ranked “The 200 Best Horror Movies of All Time.” Topping the list was a 2020 movie, His House, which is about a refugee couple making a harrowing escape from their home and adjusting to life in a new town. A few more recent films appear on the list, including the award-winning Sinners and Get Out. However, there’s one older film that has made the top 10, Bride of Frankenstein.

The 1935 film, which is a sequel to the 1931 Frankenstein, has a 98% critic score. It stars Boris Karloff, who was known as a horror icon. He played the role of Frankenstein’s monster in the original film, then reprised it for this sequel. He also played Imhotep in The Mummy, which was released in 1932, and appeared in additional horror films like The Body Snatcher, The Black Cat, Black Sabbath, and Targets. He also voiced the Grinch and the narrator in the 1966 animated special, How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Ultimately, he was awarded two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. One was for Motion Pictures and the other was for Television.

Karloff died on February 2, 1969 when he was in his eighties. Bloody Disgusting, which covers the best horror movies and news, described him as nothing like his characters. “Though his roles onscreen were primarily villains and monsters, Karloff was a man of great gentleness, a lover of cricket, gardening, animals, and children,” Brian Keiper said. “He was a man with an innate sense of justice who championed the downtrodden. He was known to travel far on many occasions to play Santa Claus for disabled children in hospitals. He was personally very generous, but never public about his giving. By all accounts, he was a true gentleman and could not have been further from the monstrous roles he played.”

Related: 2019 Hit Film Ranked Among ‘Best Movies of All Time’

Bride of Frankenstein was one of Karloff's most famous roles. He acted alongside Elsa Lanchester, Colin Clive, and Valerie Hobson in the film, which was inspired by Mary Shelley's classic novel.

As one reviewer stated, “Chock full of stunning black and white photography, groundbreaking make-up and special effects, and mad dark comedy, classic horror doesn’t get much better than Bride of Frankenstein.” Another said, “It is no surprise that Bride of Frankenstein is heralded as one of Hollywood's best-ever sequels: it does everything a good sequel should.”

There have been many other Frankenstein adaptations since this film’s release, including the 2025 film by Guillermo del Toro, which won multiple Academy Awards for best makeup and hairstyling, costume design, and production design. The Bride! was also recently released, which stars Jessie Buckley and Christian Bale. However, the reviews were not nearly as favorable with a critic score of 58%.

Gordon Ramsay's Net Worth in 2026 Makes Him a Truly 'Next Level Chef'

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 9:30am

Gordon Ramsay's net worth in 2026 is the result of good business acumen as much as a great beef Wellington recipe.

The famously foul-mouthed chef has cooked up a fortune over the last three decades, first as one of the UK's most celebrated restaurateurs, then as one of TV's most beloved curmudgeons (with a heart of gold underneath all those curse words).

Ramsay credits his work ethic for his success, and he has no plans to slow down anytime soon.

"When I started this career, it was nothing to do with money—it was passion and the drive to be the best," he told The New York Times. "The longevity comes down to not taking anything for granted."

Ramsay especially does not take his health for granted. The MasterChef star revealed in August 2025 that he underwent surgery to remove skin cancer. In an Instagram post, he shared that he'd been treated for basal cell carcinoma and thanked the medical team who removed it. Alongside a photo of his surgery scar, he issued a PSA, writing, "Please don’t forget your sunscreen this weekend."

Fortunately, he'll have no problem buying more sunscreen and paying his medical bills. Keep reading to find out Ramsay's astonishing net worth and the ingredients of his success.

How did Gordon Ramsay become famous?

Ramsay was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, England, and grew up dreaming of being a professional soccer player (or as he and other Brits would call it, a "footballer"), though he started cooking as a hobby in his teens. A career-ending injury dashed those dreams but drew his attention to a new passion: hospitality.

Ramsay went back to school to study hotel management and further developed his love of cooking. He trained under London chefs Albert Roux and Marco Pierre White, then in France with Joël Robuchon and Guy Savoy.

After a year-long sabbatical in which he cooked on a yacht in Bermuda, he returned to London in 1993 and became head chef (with a 10% ownership share) of the Rossmore, which was later renamed Aubergine. He stayed until July 1998, when he left to start his own eatery, a move that caused a massive staff walkout, according to The New York Times.

Later that year, Ramsay opened his eponymous eatery, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, in London's Chelsea neighborhood.

In 1999, he became the subject of the documentary Boiling Point, followed by its sequel, Beyond Boiling Point, a year later. The original UK versions of Kitchen Nightmares (titled Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares)and Hell's Kitchen eachpremiered in 2004.

In 2005, Ramsay became a full-fledged star stateside with the Fox adaptation of Hell's Kitchen. Two years later, the American Kitchen Nightmares premiered on Fox, further cementing Ramsay's role as one of the world's best and most cantankerous cooks—and one of the world's wealthiest chefs.

Just make sure you don't call him a "TV chef."

"I'm not a TV chef," he told The New York Times. "I'm a serious chef, and I happen to work on TV."

Initially planned as a venture to open 100 restaurants in the United States by 2024, the COVID-19 pandemic bumped the number down to 75 by 2026.

‘Summer House' Star Announces Run for Congress: “Reality TV Is Drama for Show—D.C. Is Real Drama"

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 9:24am

Luke Gulbranson, who starred on Bravo's Summer House in seasons 4 through 6, has announced he is running for Congress.

Gulbranson, who is also an actor appearing in series like The Flight Attendant and Love... Reconsidered, threw his hat into the ring, citing chaos from the current administration and his desire to return power to the people.

"Costs are up—we feel it at the pump and the checkout line. Health care is under attack, forcing families to choose between paying bills and affording prescriptions," he captioned an emotional Instagram video. "Unions are being targeted, like in St. Louis County where this administration is threatening to cut funding if we ensure fair wages for union workers. And in northern Minnesota, two mines are down, leaving 600 people out of work, all while the President uses foreign steel for his own projects. It’s time for Congress to work for the people again—not special interests, not party politics, and not the President."

Gulbranson is running in Minnesota’s 8th District, explaining in his video that he understands the struggles of everyday Americans. "I didn't grow up with much," he said. "I know what it's like to get the power turned off a few times. To need food assistance, or go hungry. To need Medicaid, or you couldn't see a doctor."

Hockey was his passion, often giving Gulbranson that relief from tough times, adding, "Because life has a funny way of closing one door and opening another," he said. Gulbranson flicked at his time on Summer House, sharing, "Yeah, I've been on reality TV, but that's drama for show. What's happening in D.C., is real drama."

Gulbranson shared on his campaign website: "I’m running for Congress to help the family doing math at the kitchen table and coming up short, to protect the land, the water, and the hardworking people who deserve better, to give more opportunities to the kid skating on the outdoor rink until the lights go out."
