Jimmy Chamberlin, a musician from The Smashing Pumpkins who is frequently referred to as one of the most powerful drummers in rock, turns 62 today. Chamberlin has worked on Grammy award-winning hits like "Bullet With Butterfly Wings" and “The Beginning Is the End Is the Beginning.” He was included on Rolling Stone’s list of the “100 Greatest Drummers of All Time” and was named as the fifth best drummer by the British magazine, Gigwise.

In a 2020 interview with Andrew Daly, Chamberlin explained that he got involved in music when he was only eight because his brother was a drummer. He also explained his love of the instrument, saying, “Drums are oftentimes the foundation of any musical conversation we are having. When they are congruent with the narrative, i.e. telling the same story, they become a powerful part, perhaps the most powerful part of the story. Secondarily, being aware of and participating in the narrative allows us to make good musical choices and embellish the story with foreshadowing and dynamics that make it come to life in a way that few other instruments can.”

In addition to being a part of such an iconic rock group, Chamberlin has also performed in the supergroup Zwan along with the frontman for The Smashing Pumpkins, Billy Corgan, who is a close friend of his.

“I feel fortunate to be in a band with Billy Corgan, a friend and a songwriter of incredible depth that consistently offers me opportunities to navigate an incredibly wide selection of music, and challenges me to evolve my own language as a participant,” he said.

However, Chamberlin has performed without Corgan as well. He formed his own group, The Jimmy Chamberlin Complex, back in 2004. When speaking about the differences between performing with The Jimmy Chamberlin Complex and with The Smashing Pumpkins, he said, “It’s the same, really. Other than the specificity of parts, I approach both bands the same. My choices are obviously different at times in response to the music of the moment, but the philosophy is the same.”

Billy Ray Cyrus is reflecting on the darkest chapter of his life. From divorce and a health scare that nearly ended his career to fractured family relationships — and how an unexpected push from his grandson helped him find his way back.

Now, with a new album, a renewed bond with his children, and a romance with Elizabeth Hurley, the country star says he's finally found peace after going "to hell and back."

"When you're completely on the bottom, that is the only way to go — up," Cyrus recently told People, adding, "I had entered a period where I hadn't worked for a really long time. And then I realized today, I said, ‘Cyrus, you're working now, man. Be careful what you ask for. You said you wanted to get on the ride? Well, here you go.'"

After his 28-year marriage to ex-wife Trish ended in 2022, the 64-year-old singer found himself on the edge of a tough period. "Sometimes change is scary, and I'll keep doing the wrong thing for a long time because I'm scared of change," he said about facing a new life without Trish. "But when I finally do get the courage up to commit in my mind and say, ‘I'm going to do this,' then that's the way it is. No looking back. I think that's maybe sometimes good for everyone—to just let go."

Cyrus fell into a string of relationships, marrying and divorcing singer Johanna Rosie Scholem, both citing abuse in court documents filed in 2024. During the same year, Cyrus was diagnosed with vocal paralysis and sepsis, which nearly killed him.

During what he described as a particularly low point, Cyrus' grandson Bear gave him the strength to keep pushing with two words. "In this very broken moment of my life, my little grandson Bear looked at me and said, ‘Try again.' And up until that moment, he had never spoken to me at all," Cyrus recalled. "I wasn't even sure if he knew my name. In that moment I thought, ‘He's telling you something.' Is it about love? Music? Somehow, I got to try again at both. So I'm learning to try again."

Joking that he'll never be considered as "parent of the year," Cyrus said he's ready for a fresh start with his kids.

"Life is a series of adjustments, and I think my family always knew that. We've all been through a lot, and we've seen a lot. Whatever happened is in the rearview mirror," he reflected. "The past is over and done. The future is what we have, and we got to look forward."

Cyrus has continued to move forward and went public with a new relationship in 2025 with Hurley. "What more could I ask for? I don't have anything to complain about," he said. "I like how everything looks right now. I finally found this wonderful place where I'm happy."

So, is it possible that Swift is secretly the voice of Emily? Absolutely. The superstar is known for loving a good surprise—after all, fans had used Easter eggs and clues to guess that Swift was involved with Toy Story 5 in the first place—so this would be very on brand. Fans won't know for sure until the movie hits theaters on June 19, though.

Already a rock legend from his time with the Doobie Brothers, Michael McDonald later added another memorable chapter to his career through his work with Christopher Cross.

His collaborations on “I Really Don’t Know Anymore” and “Ride Like the Wind” became standout moments on Cross’s self-titled debut album. These songs, and others, helped propel the record to major commercial success.

Despite their strong vocal chemistry, McDonald was not originally slated to work with Cross during the recording sessions. The happenstance event turned into an iconic musical matchup.

Cross shared details of how the Doobie Brothers vocalist appeared on his album in a 2024 interview with Rick Beato. He chalked it up to being at the right place at the right time.

"Doobies were recording 'Takin' It To The Streets' next door," Cross began. "And [producer Michael] Omartian knew McDonald from Steely Dan."

"He invited him over. He walked in and said, 'I heard what you were doing.' He said, 'You know how it is when you're in your session, and you go next door, and you think 'this sounds really good. A lot better than what we're doing.'"

Cross continued, "[McDonald] sang on 'I Really Don't Know Anymore' later than day and when we were doing 'Ride Like the Wind,' we thought 'Michael McDonald would kill this.'"

He concluded, "We brought him back in. Michael always says that's the most applause he gets for the least amount of work."

In an interview with Songfacts, Cross added, "It was a huge boost for us, because the album was sent to radio, and to see names on the album like Mike McDonald and Don Henley was big. I had known Don from Texas, and he was nice enough to sing."

"Certainly Mike and Don were tremendous helps at radio as far as credibility and notice for the record. And as a Steely Dan fan, I was thrilled," he concluded.

Christopher Cross' 1979 debut LP features the smash hits "Sailing" and "Ride Like the Wind." It made Grammy history by becoming the first album to sweep all four major categories, including Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist.

The Big Bang Theory fans almost met an unrecognizable version of Sheldon Cooper.

The brilliant and socially awkward Sheldon was actually a "womanizer" in a "very strange, macabre" version of the CBSsitcom's pilot, The Big Bang Theory alum Simon Helberg revealed during a new appearance on Jesse Tyler Ferguson's Dinner's on Me podcast.

Helberg, who played Howard Wolowitz throughout The Big Bang Theory's 12-season run, shared that he didn't appear in the initial pilot, which never made it to air.

"They reshot the pilot. So the pilot I was in was the reshot one. They shot a very strange, macabre version of it, where [Parsons' Sheldon] was like a womanizer." Helberg explained in the podcast episode released on Tuesday, June 9. "Very strange. Like a guy drinking beer—kind of like the Neil Patrick Harris [How I Met Your Mother] character [Barney Stinson], I think. Very different."

The character that eventually became Kaley Cuoco's bubbly Penny was also "completely different," Helberg said, appearing in the first pilot as someone who was "dark-haired and gothy."

The Big Bang Theory co-creators Bill Prady and Chuck Lorre previously discussed the unaired pilot with Entertainment Weekly in 2022, revealing that Penny was initially written as a more "dangerous" character named Katie, played by Amanda Walsh, who "wasn't very nice to the guys."

"The audience hated her," Lorre confessed, adding that while Walsh did a "great job" playing the character of Katie, they found through test audiences that viewers "didn't want a toxic presence" around Sheldon and his roommate, Johnny Galecki's Leonard Hofstadter.

"That's why we rewrote Katie to become Penny and made her much more charmed by the guys and kind to them, as opposed to a woman who would take advantage of them," Lorre explained, adding that the second pilot allowed them to lean into their "brilliant misfit characters" instead of focusing on the initial plot.

Country music fans are sending well wishes to veteran singer-songwriter Radney Foster after the acclaimed artist was hospitalized with a serious infection, forcing the postponement of scheduled performances with fellow country artist Kelly Willis.

The announcement was shared through Foster’s official Instagram account, confirming that the Radney Foster and Kelly Willis shows scheduled for the weekend would be rescheduled while the Texas-born musician focuses on his recovery.

“We’re sorry to announce that the Radney Foster/Kelly Willis shows this weekend are being rescheduled,” the post read. “Radney is recovering from a serious infection that required hospitalization. While he is improving and has been released from the ICU, his doctors have advised him to take time away from the road to focus on his health.”

Over the years, Foster expanded his creative work beyond music. He became an author with the release of For You To See The Stars, a project that combined short fiction with a companion collection of songs. He has also worked on film and television development projects.

Kelly Willis, who has collaborated with Foster on multiple occasions, is also a respected figure in country and Americana music. Known for her critically acclaimed recordings and distinctive vocal style, Willis has built a decades-long career and was inducted into the Austin Music Hall of Fame.

For now, Foster’s focus remains on his health and recovery.

Neil Young, widely regarded as the “Godfather of Grunge,” sparked massive buzz after announcing unexpected news following the cancellation of his 2026 tour.

Months after his decision to step away from touring for this year, the 80-year-old musician confirmed he would join the benefit concert Farm Aid, where he served as a co-founder along with fellow musicians Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp.

Neil Young Drops 2026 U.K. and Europe Tour With Chrome Hearts

As mentioned, Young’s latest announcement brought a major surprise to fans after he revealed plans of cancelling the U.K. and European tour.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee released an official statement on his website explaining why he decided not to pursue the run.

Titled “A message from Neil,” the two-time Grammy winner shared, “I have decided to take a break and will not be touring Europe this time. Thanks to everyone who bought tickets. I’m sorry to let you down, but this is not the time. I do love playing LIVE and being with you and the Chrome Hearts.”

The European and U.K. performances are set to begin on June 17 at Bodelva, England and will conclude on July 26 in Udine, Italy.

Young’s special guests include Elvis Costello and the Imposters as the opening act.

Nineteen years ago today, one of television’s most talked-about dramas came to an end with a finale that left viewers stunned, confused and searching for answers.

When the final episode aired on June 10, 2007, fans expected a definitive conclusion to years of storytelling. Instead, the series delivered an ending that sparked immediate debate and has continued to fuel discussion ever since.

The show was The Sopranos, and its abrupt final scene remains one of the most controversial endings in television history. The series concluded with Tony Soprano, played by James Gandolfini, meeting his family at a diner. As the scene unfolded, viewers watched a series of seemingly ordinary moments before the screen suddenly cut to black.

What happened next—or whether anything happened at all—was left open to interpretation. Nearly two decades later, fans are still debating whether Tony survived, making the finale one of the most analyzed endings in television history.

In Nov. 2021, Sopranos creator (writer, director, and producer) David Chase spoke about the ending of one of the greatest shows ever.

“I had no idea it would cause that much … of an uproar," Chase said on the Awards Chatter podcast. “What was annoying was how many people wanted to see Tony killed. They wanted to see him go face-down in linguini, you know? That bothered me.”

Whether viewers loved the ending or hated it, there's no denying its place in television history. Few series finales have sparked as much discussion or inspired as many theories as The Sopranos. The final scene continues to be dissected by fans, cementing its status as one of the most memorable endings of a TV show—ever.

The Boys, a superhero show that was based on the comic book series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, was one of Amazon Prime’s biggest original series. Although the recent finale was watched by millions of fans, not everyone was happy with the ending.

Eric Kripke, the creator of the show, spoke withTV Line about the fan reaction. "I'm not healthy in that I'm like, 'Oh, I never look.' I see it all," he revealed. "Obviously, there are a lot of unhappy people online, but there are two things I would say: First, I'm just glad people are passionate, legitimately. My job is to make people passionate about the work I put out. If they're arguing about it and hating it and fighting, that's all passion, man. You're watching, and that's all good. My job is to get an emotional reaction, not necessarily to dictate what that emotional reaction is."

He continued, "We have way north of 60 million viewers, so that makes the online storm, which feels very all-encompassing, actually a fraction of a single percentage point. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, of course, and I'm sorry if I disappointed you, but it was the story I wanted to tell. You just have to put it into perspective of it being a reasonably small, vocal audience when the vast majority seem to be happily tuning in."

According to ScreenRant, the show had much higher ratings early on, earning a 90% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes during its first season. That score remained high during seasons 2 and 3 but dropped significantly in seasons 4 and 5, with this final season only having a 50% audience score. However, the critics continued to rate it high, giving the latest season a 93% score.

Although some fans weren’t thrilled with the ending, others haven’t been too harsh on it. As one Reddit user said, “Definitely was not bad, but it could have been a bit better.” Another said, “It was kind of rushed, and a number of things could have been done better, but it gave good and satisfying endings to everyone who needed an ending, so it wasn't bad.”

The Boys might be over—but the franchise is still going strong. A spinoff called Vought Rising is coming next year.

A defining band in the late 1960s, this rock legend is continuing its legacy with an unexpected move.

Ahead of the highly anticipated FIFA World Cup 2026, The Rolling Stones revealed a partnership that “celebrates the universal languages of music and football.”

In an Instagram update, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee proudly announced the release of the special artwork inspired by their upcoming album Foreign Tongues, featured in themed clothing and headwear.

“Created for the world’s biggest sporting event, it explores the cultures, memories, and connections that transcend borders and bring people together. Discover country-specific merch on the Stones official store and via @classtripofficial,” the caption reads.

According to FIFA chief business officer Romy Gai, the creative partnership between two iconic brands creates a bigger and more memorable experience for the public.

“We are delighted to welcome The Rolling Stones into this unique global moment, adding the energy, emotion and unmistakable identity of one of music’s most iconic bands to the tournament experience,” Gai said in a press release. “This collaboration celebrates the powerful connection between football and music, and the unforgettable experiences they create for fans around the world.”

The announcement comes ahead of the highly anticipated release of the band’s twenty-fifth studio album.

Scheduled for a July 10 release, Foreign Tongues includes their lead track "In the Stars," which they officially launched in May.

Fans and listeners are in for a treat as the soon-to-be-released record includes special contributions from notable musicians like Steve Winwood, Paul McCartney, the Cure's Robert Smith and the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Chad Smith.

X-Men actor Tyler Mane has been diagnosed with a "super rare" case of male breast cancer.

The 59-year-old actor, who played supervillain Sabretooth in the 2000 superhero movie as well as in 2024's Deadpool & Wolverine, took to Instagram on Monday, June 8, to share the news that he had been diagnosed with breast cancer and was starting chemotherapy treatments.

“Yep. I have breast cancer. And yep, it’s super rare. Only 1% of breast cancers are [in] men,” Mane wrote in the caption of his video.

Breast cancer is most commonly found in women, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, but about one out of 100 breast cancers diagnosed in the U.S. is found in a man.

"I’ll be honest, my first reaction was to keep it secret," Mane continued. "I mean it’s kind of embarrassing. But then I found out that men are more likely to be diagnosed in [advanced] stages BECAUSE it’s not talked about and not looked for. In fact, my doctors all dismissed it, and it was only because my wife pushed me to get the lump removed that I got in early."

The retired professional wrestler added, "So let’s start talking about it! 1 in 755 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, and if caught early, it’s VERY treatable."

Mane followed up his announcement with a health update on Tuesday, June 9, sharing another video to Instagram after his second chemotherapy treatment.

"Day 2 chemo update!" he wrote in the caption. "First of all. Thank you so much for all the love everyone. I greatly appreciate it. I got this. I’m gonna kick cancer‘s ass. Thank you for coming along for the journey. We need to spread the awareness. Cancer sucks but if you catch it quick enough, you can win this battle."

“Pleasant Valley Sunday” was a smash hit by The Monkees, which they recorded 59 years ago, in the summer of 1967. The song, which was written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King, was about their boredom and overall dissatisfaction with life in the suburbs. The title was inspired by a real street in New Jersey, the state where they were living.

“Pleasant Valley Sunday” has become a recognizable anthem about suburban life, partially due to the distinctive guitar riff in the song. In Andrew Sandoval’s book, The Monkees: The Day-By-Day Story of the ’60s TV Pop Sensation, producer Chip Douglas spoke about this iconic guitar riff.

“Mike played the lead guitar,” he said, referring to the guitarist for The Monkees, Michael Nesmith. “That was my riff that I threw in there and taught to Mike. Not many guitar players can play it the right way. I’ve seen them all try on the various stage bands, you know, they don’t quite have it right. It’s kind of an offshoot of The Beatles’ song ‘I Want To Tell You,’ but in a different tempo and with different notes.”

According to American Songwriter, Nesmith also spoke about the riff. “I remember that we went after the guitar sound,” he said. “Everybody was trying to get that great big present guitar sound—nobody knew quite how to do it. I think I used, like, three Vox Super Beatle amplifiers in the studio playing really loud trying to get the sound, and it just ended up sounding kind of, you know, like it does, kind of wooden. There was a type of limiter/compressor called a Urei 1176, and it was a tube-type compressor/limiter, and boy, you could really suck stuff out of the track. That was the first time that we really could do it. I think everybody got a little carried away with the 1176 on that record.”

The Monkees, which consisted of Micky Dolenz, Davy Jones, Nesmith, and Peter Tork, were formed in the '60s. Although “Pleasant Valley Sunday” was one of their biggest hits, reaching No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, they also created other iconic songs like “I’m a Believer,” “Daydream Believer,” and “Last Train to Clarksville.”

The band officially broke up in 1970, a few years after their hit television show was canceled in 1968.

A new meal offering is taking off on United Airlines, and if you’re a foodie or fan of Netflix’s popular Chef’s Table series, you’ll want to take note. 

The international carrier will offer 30 new chef-curated dishes on select United Polaris international business class flights starting August 1. The menus were created by 11 star chefs from four continents, and will be available on certain long-haul international routes. The dishes span the globe, from seasonal California cooking to bold Asian and Latin American flavors, with each meal featuring an appetizer, salad, and entree.

“At its core, this collaboration with Chef’s Table is rooted in a shared ambition to redefine what inflight dining can be,” said Aaron McMillan, United’s Managing Director of Hospitality Programs, in a statement shared with Parade. “Because our leading global network reaches into the world’s greatest food cities, we’re able to work hand-in-hand with world-class chefs and translate their points of view into dishes intentionally designed for the realities of travel and inspired by destinations we serve.”

The new menus were inspired by United’s seven hub cities in the United States, as well as key international cities for the airline, like London, Tokyo, and São Paulo. Los Angeles-based chef Nancy Silverton’s menu is a nod to her award-winning restaurant Osteria Mozza, including an appetizer of burrata with braised leeks, mustard vinaigrette, and breadcrumbs, while Newark is represented by New York City chef Fariyal Abdullahi, featuring an entree of Ethiopian coffee-glazed short ribs with purple mashed potatoes, sauteed Thumbelina carrots, and charred scallions.

There are several French-inspired menus, from Chicago’s Jenner Tomaska to Houston’s Justin Yu, as well as Washington, D.C.’s Isabel Coss and Matt Conroy, who combine French techniques and Mexican fare in their menu, while San Francisco is represented by Chef David Barzelay's take on American fine dining. 

Denver chef Penelope Wong’s menu includes an entree of five-spice duck wontons with duck brodo, Swiss chard, and chili oil, while the international selections go all in on their respective cities. There’s Chef Manu Buffara from São Paulo, who features traditional Brazilian ingredients like fresh heart of palm and passion fruit in a collard green and shrimp appetizer, a refreshing white bean and celery salad, and an entree of Brazilian shrimp stew with coconut rice, cashew nut farofa, and sauteed okra. 

London’s hearty cuisine is represented by Chef Tomos Parry, from grilled beef fillet with thyme and beetroots to slow-roasted lamb with smoked potatoes. At the same time, Chef Tashi Gyamtso brings Tokyo to the skies with poached scallop with yuzu-ginger glaze and edamame puree alongside a miso-marinated sea bass with Koshihikari rice and shiitake mushrooms.

The menus take flight starting August 1 through September, with a different lineup of dishes coming later in October and then rotating seasonally into 2027.

In the early '90s, Georgia rock band R.E.M. put out a track that would go on to be one of the most iconic hits in their expansive discography.

"Shiny Happy People" was released in May 1991 and was the second single on the band's critically acclaimed seventh studio album, Out of Time. The track immediately became a massive success, climbing to the top ten in both the U.S. and U.K — reaching No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 4 on the Singles Chart.

Despite it's success, R.E.M. weren't too impressed with the upbeat track and were shocked by the positive reception from fans.

"We came up with the music and were all laughing about it,” guitarist Peter Buck, the fingers behind the repetitive riff,  told Rolling Stone in a 2016 interview. “When we recorded it, we just thought, ‘Ah, whatever.’"

Front man Michael Stipe had similar feelings about the "really fruity, kind of bubblegum song," admitting that he felt embarrassed about its popularity.

"If there was one song that was sent into outer space to represent R.E.M. for the rest of time, I would not want it to be ‘Shiny Happy People.’” he noted, per American Songwriter.

The song was originally written as a satirical track, and it left the band in fits of laughter during recording, which took place in producer John Keane's studio.

"I distinctly remember when we were all in the control room and Michael went in to sing the lyrics. None of the band members had actually heard the lyrics clearly until that point. When he got to the Shiny Happy People part, Mike Mills and Pete looked at each other like, ‘Really? Is that what he’s gonna sing?’ And then they hit the floor laughing.”

Proving its popularity, "Shiny Happy People" was even considered as the opening theme tune toFriends. The band turned the opportunity down, and the show ultimately went with “I’ll Be There For You” by  the Rembrandts.
