New Study Reveals the Best Fast Food Burger in America

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 1:14pm

Americans eat a lot of fast food burgers.

And after nearly a year of tracking which chains they actually prefer, research firm YouGov has an answer to the question everyone has an opinion on — who makes the best one?

The findings come from the company's analysis of U.S. restaurant brand rankings across major menu categories, from burgers and fries to sandwiches, tacos and coffee

Rather than a single taste test, the results reflect nearly a year of surveying regular diners across the country, with data collected from March 2025 through February 2026.

And according to the data, the best fast food burger in America belongs to Five Guys.

Five Guys Tops the Rankings for Best Fast Food Burger

The race was close, with Five Guys claiming first place by just half a percentage point over Burger King. In-N-Out landed in third, Wendy's in fourth and McDonald's in fifth.

The result is less of a surprise when you consider what Five Guys has been doing since 1986. The Virginia-based chain built its identity on a short menu done well, and decades later, that bet has paid off.

Burgers, hot dogs, fries and shakes, with every patty cooked fresh on a flat-top grill. Every order is also fully customizable, with toppings like grilled onions, mushrooms and jalapeños available at no extra charge.

That focus comes at a cost, though. The chain ranks among the pricier fast food options nationally, and its burgers are some of the most calorie-dense in the category.

For most regulars, neither is a dealbreaker. When the burger is fresh, customizable and consistently good, it's worth paying a little more for.

How to Get the Coquette Aesthetic in Your Tiny Apartment Without Losing Your Security Deposit

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 12:46pm

Tiny apartments and dorm rooms are typically where aesthetic dreams go to die. Between bad lighting and the cold walls, it’s hard to feel like you’re living your best life. It usually feels more like a basement than a bedroom. But the new LoveShackFancy x Pottery Barn Teen collection aims to be a game changer for anyone who wants to trade their prison cell vibe for something straight out of a Regency-era garden.

The drop is an assortment designed to make small spaces feel personal and lush. If you’re ready to ditch the boring basics and the beige blankets, here’s how to use this collection to save your space.

Start With the Bed (The Only Part That Matters)

Your bed is your everything. It’s your sofa, your dining table, and your desk. Because it takes up 80% of the floor plan, it has to look good. The collection features those signature romantic florals on soft pastel comforters and reversible duvets.

But don't stop at a blanket. The trick to that Bridgerton look is layers. More is more. Pile on the printed pillows. Mix the vintage rose patterns with the bow-trimmed shams. The goal is to make the bed look so plush and expensive that you totally forget you’re hanging out in a space that’s hasn't been updated since 2002.

Hide the Mess with Elevated Storage

The biggest vibe-killer in any small room is the clutter. You can’t feel like royalty when your gym clothes are overflowing and your protein bars are scattered everywhere. The collection includes chic storage and functional accents that match the decor instead of looking like plastic bins from a hardware store.

View this post on Instagram

We’re talking lidded bins and organizers that ooze charm and practicality. It’s an easy way to hide your snacks, chargers, and skincare routine behind a shimmer of lace and roses. Because let’s be real: no one needs to see your tangled mess of iPhone cables. Not even you.

Don't Ignore the Walls

Those blank walls are the enemy of joy. The collection offers wallpaper details and no-nails pinboards that can transform the room without costing you your security deposit. It’s about creating a space that feels cozy. And expressive.

And because the collection spans everything from desk accessories to window treatments, you can make the whole room feel cohesive. It stops being a random collection of stuff you found in a clearance aisle and starts looking like a curated home.

But Will You Get Your Deposit Back?

LoveShackFancy has a cult following for a reason: their prints are distinctly their own and their vibe is carefree romance. Bringing that look to Pottery Barn makes the high-end aesthetic accessible without having to drill holes or paint walls. The collection is live now. If you want the Bridgerton lifestyle before move-in day, you need to move fast. These florals are famous for selling out the second they hit the site.

1999 Canceled Show Only Lasted One Season — Now Fans Call It ‘Near Perfect’

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 12:36pm

Over two decades after it originally aired, Freaks and Geeks continues to inspire a level of devotion most single-season shows rarely achieve.

Though it was canceled after just one season in 1999, fans and critics still regard it as a “near-perfect” coming-of-age dramedy — and one of television’s most painful “what could have been” stories.

Despite its short run, the series is now widely considered a cult classic, credited with launching the careers of several major actors, including Linda Cardellini, John Francis Daley, James Franco, Samm Levine, Seth Rogen, Jason Segel and Busy Philipps. Yet its early cancelation left many wondering how a show so beloved in hindsight was pulled so quickly.

The answer lies largely in its troubled broadcast history. From the beginning, Freaks and Geeks was placed in a difficult Saturday night 8 p.m. time slot. NBC frequently shifted its schedule, airing episodes inconsistently and leaving long gaps that made it nearly impossible for viewers to follow or build routine viewership.

Although the network ultimately cited low ratings as the reason for cancelation, those numbers were heavily influenced by its unstable rollout.

The network’s handling of the series reportedly grew even more complicated after cancelation. Only a portion of the remaining episodes were initially aired, while others were later shuffled onto different platforms.

Beyond scheduling issues, Freaks and Geeks was also a creative risk for its time. It intentionally rejected the glossy portrayal of high school in late-1990s television, opting instead for a more “radically unglamorous” depiction of teenage life, per Vanity Fair

While this authenticity is now seen as one of its greatest strengths, it was a harder sell for a network environment that favored more conventional programming.

Even after its abrupt end, the creators, Paul Feig and Judd Apatow, had mapped out plans for a second season. Their vision followed Lindsay Weir’s ongoing search for identity, Sam Weir’s continued awkward adolescence, and the “freaks” navigating life beyond high school and the uncertainties of adulthood.

Despite renewed attention around anniversaries, a reboot doesn’t seem to be on the horizon. Apatow has said the series feels finished as is, and is not something that can be recreated.

“We liked how it ended, so I feel it’s unwrapping something and seeing if you can not screw it up; I don’t think we would do that,” he said in 2017.

That said, demand for the show has not let up. On Reddit, fans still debate its abrupt cancelation, with one calling it “one of the best singular seasons of TV ever and near perfect.”

Another wrote, “Could have been one of the greatest tv shows of all time,” while a third added, “Underrated. Gone too soon.”

6,000 Dollar General Stores Are Getting a Big New AI Upgrade

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 12:30pm

In our modern world, AI is increasingly everywhere. As data centers continue to expand and automated systems replace everyday tasks, an AI-driven future is becoming a present-day reality rather than a distant possibility.

This week, Dollar General Corp. is expanding its foray into retail media with a new partnership that will bring an AI-driven "audio experience" to 6,000 additional stores across 48 states. The rollout is set to bring the total number of Dollar General locations featuring in-store audio to 12,000 by the second quarter of 2026.

Dollar General Rolls Out AI-Driven Audio to 6,000 Stores Nationwide

Dollar General's partnership with QSIC, a platform that uses point-of-sale data, curated music and AI-generated ads to plan and manage in-store audio advertising, comes at a time when AI systems are becoming increasingly harder to ignore. With QSIC, Dollar General can reach around 350 million shoppers per month globally while also tracking ad delivery and offering detailed reporting that gives brand partners a clearer view of how their ad spend is performing.

"With retail seeing approximately 85 percent of sales occurring in-store, physical locations remain the most valuable media channel," explained Matt Elsley, QSIC's co-founder and CEO. "Our platform unlocks new value through intelligent automation, verified delivery and performance data that connects marketing investment to real-world results."

Elsley added, "We're thrilled to partner with Dollar General as they enhance their store experience and expand their in-store retail media capabilities."

Dollar General's AI Audio Push Signals a Bigger Retail Media Shift

If you're wondering what's behind this move, it helps to look at how much Dollar General has been investing in its retail media strategy lately. In March, the retailer named JJ Fleeman, Ahold Delhaize USA's CEO and architect of its omnichannel strategy, as the successor to Todd Vasos, with the transition set for January 1, 2027. Fleeman is expected to lead the company's digital push, including the growth of DG Media Network, the very team behind the QSIC partnership.

"At DG Media Network, we're constantly looking for innovative ways to help brands meaningfully connect with our customers, and by introducing an AI-powered in-store audio network, we're unlocking an entirely new layer of relevancy and accountability in the shopping experience," said DG Media Network VP and general manager Austin Leonard.

While Leonard notes that the partnership's importance hinges on reaching rural communities, Dollar General claims that roughly 75 percent of the American population lives within five miles of one of its stores. That gives the discount retailer a massively dense U.S. footprint and positions it for major advertising opportunities in what Leonard describes as "underserved and often overlooked rural areas."

"This platform allows us to deliver localized, real-time messaging at scale across the thousands of communities we serve," Leonard explained. "It's a powerful way to create value for our brand partners while enhancing the in-store experience for the millions of customers who rely on Dollar General every day through more relevant, contextual messaging designed to add value, not noise, to their shopping trip."

As of January 30, 2026, Dollar General operates more than 20,000 stores across the United States and Mexico, including its Dollar General, DG Market, DGX and Popshelf formats. With such a wide footprint, the retailer's push into AI-powered in-store audio adds another layer to its reach to customers across thousands of communities nationwide. This new rollout reflects how quickly AI is becoming embedded into everyday shopping experiences, even in something as routine as in-store audio announcements.

Controversial Influencer Shares ‘Brutal’ Update After Suspected Livestream Overdose

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 12:30pm

Braden Peters, perhaps better known by his streamer moniker Clavicular, made headlines after seeming to overdose on a livestream.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the “looksmaxxing” (more on that in a sec) influencer was hospitalized Tuesday, April 14, after an incident that happened earlier in the day.

🎬 SIGN UP for Parade’s Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬

While livestreaming on Kick at a mall and restaurant with two other influencers, Peters, 20, began slurring his words and appearing disoriented before his video stream was abruptly cut.

People magazine reported that the Miami-based content creator was repeating phrases multiple times while in conversation with a young woman.

"Holy s--- dude, I'm trying my best, but I'm f---ing destroyed right now," Peters told the woman, repeating the phrase.

Footage uploaded later on shows Peters being carried to an SUV as an ambulance arrives.

THR also shared that Peters was released from the hospital today, with the influencer sharing a “brutal” update with his fans.

“Just got home, that was brutal,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter) alongside a bloody selfie. “All of the substances are just a cope trying to feel neurotypical while being in public, but obviously that isn’t a real solution. The worst part of tonight was my face descending from the life support mask.”

Peters, who walked in New York Fashion Week this year, gained recognition online as a promoter of looksmaxxing, an online trend popular with young men that focuses on maximizing their physical looks in simple and extreme ways, from grooming to enhancing facial features by smashing their bones with a hammer.

This isn’t the first time Peters has made headlines in recent weeks.

On April 12, he bailed on a 60 Minutes Australia interview after the interviewer called him an “incel” and probed him about his connections to Andrew Tate, the Miami Herald reported.

Peters is also currently being investigated by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission for appearing to shoot an alligator.

Last month, the influencer was arrested in Florida for misdemeanor battery charges. Authorities said Peters provoked a fight between two women and exploited them by posting the video footage online, per The New York Times.

’80s Film, Ranked Among the Best Horror Movies of All Time, Was Banned in Multiple Countries

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 12:30pm

Cannibal Holocaust remains one of the most controversial horror films ever released.

Infamous for its extreme realism, the 1980 fictional film adopts a documentary-style approach but highlights a gore-heavy premise featuring extreme violence, explicit slaughter and graphic sexual violence that led to widespread outrage and censorship.

Directed by the late filmmaker Ruggero Deodato, it showcased a “found footage” format that follows an ambitious expedition led by anthropologist Professor Harold Monroe, played by Robert Kerman. His mission was to lead a rescue expedition into the Amazon.

Joining him is the experienced guide Chaco Losojos, played by Salvatore Basile, along with the documentary crew consisting of director Alan Yates, played by Carl Gabriel Yorke, cameraman Jack Anders, portrayed by Perry Pirkanen and scriptwriter Faye Daniels, played by Francesca Ciardi.

View this post on Instagram

In a previous interview, Deodato revealed what prompted him to create such a disturbing yet thought-provoking film.

According to him, the idea came after watching a violent news report in Italy.

"It was the time of the Red Brigades,” he said as cited by The Guardian. “Every night on TV, there were very strong images of people being killed or maimed. Not only killings, but also some fabrications. They were increasing the sensationalism of the news just to shock people."

Cannibal Holocaust Restricted in 13 Countries

Given the movie’s notorious reputation, it is widely considered one of the most brutal horror films of all time.

In fact, Collider ranked it among the top 20 horror movies that were so disturbing they were prohibited in multiple countries.

While the 1974 film The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and the 1978 movie I Spit on Your Grave ranked first and second, respectively, Cannibal Holocaust secured third place on the list.

The ranking was based on the number of countries in which the films were prohibited from screening.

For Cannibal Holocaust, 13 countries reportedly prohibited the film from screening in theaters.

In New Zealand, the Office of Film and Literature Classification (OFLC) completely prohibited the film in 2006 due to real or simulated animal cruelty and extreme graphic violence that violated the country’s censorship laws.

Adding to the list are Malaysia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, India, Vietnam, Iran, Germany, Iceland, and more.

In Singapore, the horror movie was rejected for screening due to "very high impact violence" and "offensive animal cruelty.”

On the other hand, the film managed to premiere in Milan, but shortly after its debut, Italian officials reportedly prohibited the film from screening and charged the director with obscenity.

Billy Crystal Shares Hilarious, Heartfelt Stories About Late Friend Rob Reiner on 'Late Show': 'It's A Profound Loss'

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 12:23pm

Just over four months after the shocking death of Rob Reiner and his wife Michele singer, one of the couple's closest friends, the iconic comedian Billy Crystal, is offering some heartfelt insight into his decades-long relationship with the late Reiner.

Appearing on a recent episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the 78-year-old comedian was asked what it was like remaining friends with Reiner since their earliest collaborations together in the '70s and '80s.

"Tell us about Rob Reiner," Colbert first asked of Crystal. "'Cause we all know him from his performances and from his directing, but what was he like as a friend?"

"Hilarious," Crystal started by saying. "Devoted. Opinionated in the best way, fighting for the truth, for our country," he continued, referring to Reiner's outspoken views on widespread political issues.

"[He had] the greatest comedy taste," Crystal went on to say. "We could talk about everything. He was an uncle to my kids. There's so many moments that just, when something good happens, or 'Isn't that crazy?' where I want to pick up the phone and then call [him] and say, 'Did you see?!' Because that's what we would do."

As an example of their close friendship, Crystal also shared some warm memories of working with Reiner on When Harry Met Sally..., comparing the duo's friendship to the central relationship at the heart of the classic '80s romantic comedy.

"In Harry and Sally..., there's a lot of moments where [Meg Ryan] and I are really Rob and I," Crystal revealed. "He was going through a tough divorce from Penny Marshall at the time, and we were on the phone constantly. And there'd be moments where we'd be watching a movie together, like Casablanca, and we would go back and forth."

"It was a profound loss for... I'm just going to say humanity, because he was the most human person that I ever met," the iconic comedian finished by saying.

‘Jerry Springer’ Producer Reveals the 'Secret' to Those Explosive On-Camera Fights

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 12:20pm

In the golden age of daytime talk shows,The Jerry Springer Show stood out for its explosive confrontations, high drama, and unforgettable on-screen brawls that kept audiences hooked. Now, years later, a former producer from The Jerry Springer Show is revealing the secret behind how those infamous fights were brought to life.

Investigation Discovery series Hollywood Demons heads into its second season, looking back at the infamous talk show. The series includes interviews with creator Burt Bubrow, producers Brad Khulman, and Springer's last recorded interviews. Part of the deep dive in the sensational show includes associate producer Houston Curtis spilling on how they got guests to fight each other.

Many viewers recall how things would heat up when Springer would introduce the third person involved in the dramatic storyline that often led to an immediate fight. Whether it's family disputes, cheating lovers, or friends-turned-enemies, audiences could always expect mayhem. Curtis revealed they had figured out the "secret" to an on-screen fight early on.

Related: Jennie Garth Recalls Moment Her Marriage to ‘Twilight’ Star ‘Hit the Fan’ and His Infuriating Comment

For this instance, Curits referred to a controversial episode from 1997 where members of the Ku Klux Klan and the Jewish Defense League ended up fighting on stage.

"Let's say that I have two brothers in a conflict. When you're prepping the guests, you tell one of them, 'if your brother says something you don't like, you can yell at them, you can get up in his face, you can even spit on him. But whatever you do, don't hit him.' And you don't tell the other person any of that," he explained.

Curtis added that keeping one of the guests in the dark worked wonders for what they were trying to achieve. He admitted that once one person who was given instructions attacks the other, "the other one is going to haul off and knock the hell out of the one who did it, and boom. You got a fight."

It's safe to say that the tactic was a success, seeing as The Jerry Springer Show first aired as a regular talk show focusing on politics and high-profile guest interviews. The network was in search of higher ratings, and the talk show was soon reformed as a tabloid talk show with provocative topics.

1977 Power Ballad Named Iconic Hit Song Became a Breakup Anthem

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 11:50am

In 1977, Meat Loaf released a song that would go on to define heartbreak for generation after generation of rock fans.

His hit, "Two Out of Three Ain't Bad," became one of the standout tracks from the album Bat Out of Hell, helping to propel the record into one of the best-selling albums of all time. With its slow-building intensity and emotional storytelling, the song quickly connected with listeners.

Written by Jim Steinman, the track blends rock and theatrical balladry, building from a quiet, introspective opening into a powerful, sweeping chorus. Steinman's signature dramatic style, combined with Meat Loaf's soaring vocals, gave the song a sense of urgency and emotional weight.

Lyrically, "Two Out of Three Ain't Bad" explores unrequited love and the painful reality of a relationship that can never fully come together. The song's central line, offering partial love but not everything, captures the bittersweet compromise at the heart of many relationships, turning it into a lasting breakup anthem.

"The original Bat Out of Hell was almost a failure," Meat Loaf said in an interview. "It was within minutes of being a complete bust. My friend, John Belushi and Gilda Radner just put their foot down and told Lorne Michaels that they were bringing their friend, Meat Loaf, on the show, Saturday Night Live. After that show is when Bat Out of Hell broke."

It was then that a DJ in Buffalo, New York named Sandy Beach caught wind of the track.

"After we did 'Two Out of Three Ain't Bad' on Saturday Night Live, he heard the lyrics, 'You'll never find your gold on a sandy beach.' He said, 'That has my name in it, so I am playing this,'" the singer continued. "It became # 1 in Buffalo in about four seconds. Before Saturday Night Live and Buffalo, we had sold no records. This was the end of May, and by the beginning of July, we were Platinum. By the end of July, we were Double Platinum and were selling over 700,000 copies a week."

Unlike many love songs of its time, the track doesn't promise resolution or reconciliation. Instead, it leans into emotional honesty, acknowledging that sometimes love isn't enough to make things work. That raw vulnerability is part of what has kept the song relevant for decades.

More than 40 years later, "Two Out of Three Ain't Bad" remains one of Meat Loaf's most iconic performances, a timeless anthem that continues to resonate with anyone who has experienced love that almost, but not quite, works out.

2018 Hit Film Ranked Among Greatest 'Action Movies Ever Made' Is a Sequel

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 11:48am

Tom Cruise is trending once again following his appearance at CinemaCon in Las Vegas this week.

The honorary Oscar winner, 63, was out promoting his upcoming movie Digger, which experts are saying might just nab Cruise his first competitive Academy Award next year.

In the meantime, fans are probably looking back at the renowned actor's career, which includes at least a few Mission: Impossible films. Back in 2018, for example, perhaps the finest entry in the franchise was released, according to critics and audiences.

Mission: Impossible - Fallout currently ranks inside the top 70 on Rotten Tomatoes' list of 300 Best Movies of All Time, and the headline of IndieWire's official review of the film at the time calls the sequel "one of the best action movies ever made."

"It doesn’t take long to recognize that Mission: Impossible — Fallout is one of the best action movies ever made," reads the first line of the IndieWire review, in addition to the superlative-laced headline.

The storyline for this sixth M:I installment follows Ethan Hunt (Cruise) and the IMF team as they join forces with CIA assassin August Walker (Henry Cavill) to prevent a disaster of epic proportions. A group of terrorists known as the Apostles plan to use three plutonium cores for a simultaneous nuclear attack on the Vatican, Jerusalem and Mecca, Saudi Arabia. When the weapons go missing, Ethan and his crew find themselves in a desperate race against time to prevent them from falling into the wrong hands...

Three years earlier, a franchise addition from an entirely different universe was released — with the movie-centric outlet Collider later dubbing Mad Max: Fury Road the "best action movie ever made." Starring Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron, the George Miller thrill ride was both a critical and commercial success, going on to receive a whopping 10 Academy Award nominations and winning six.

1957 Hit That Became a Timeless Anthem Released 69 Years Ago Today

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 11:42am

It was April 15, 1957, when Jerry Lee Lewis dropped “Whole Lot of Shakin’ Goin’ On,” his second release for Sun Records. The song quickly climbed to the top of the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, earning Lewis his first of four No. 1 country singles.

Before it became a rockabilly staple, the track was written by Curlee Williams and Roy Hall and recorded in 1955 by R&B singer Big Maybelle, with production by Quincy Jones. While it failed to chart, it struck a chord with Lewis, who reworked it into a high-energy track.

Those ad-libs, now a defining part of the song, were created by the singer himself. However, they were also one of several factors that limited airplay. Per Songfacts, radio stations had a number of concerns that led them to avoid the track.

Some radio programmers misheard the lyrics and thought Lewis was cursing during the performance. Others took issue with his voice, saying he “sounded Black.” At a time when America was still segregated and years from integration, that perception alone led stations to shut the song out completely.

However, a turning point came in July 1957, when Lewis made his debut on The Steve Allen Show with the song. Despite continued radio resistance, the show’s wide reach brought the singer into countless homes across the country, helping the single sell in the millions.

The success of “Whole Lot of Shakin’ Goin’ On” turned Lewis into a crossover hit, topping both the country and R&B charts and peaking at No. 3 on the Hot 100.

For a moment, he seemed positioned as a potential rival to Elvis Presley. But after revelations in 1958 about his marriage to his 13-year-old cousin, his commercial momentum quickly stalled.

During the early 1960s, Lewis saw smaller chart success with his renditions of “What’d I Say” and “Cold, Cold Heart.” By the latter half of the decade, he had returned to the R&B and country charts with songs including “What’s Made Milwaukee Famous,” “She Still Comes Around,” “To Make Love Sweeter for You,” and “One Minute Past Eternity.”

In 1971, he reached the Hot 100 Top 40 one final time with his cover of “Me and Bobby McGee.”

Best-Selling Author’s Hit Novel Ranked Among ‘Greatest American Books of All Time’

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 11:40am

With its recent star-studded film adaptation, it seems as though everyone has been immersed into the science fiction world of Dune. However, don't let the film's critical acclaim distract you from the literary genius of the original novel, as it is a masterpiece that everyone must indulge in.

In 2025, The Greatest Books ranked the best American books of all time, compiling a list of some of the most moving works of literature. Ranked alongside ultimate classics such as Little Women by Louisa May Alcott at No. 25 and The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemmingway at No. 16, Dune by Frank Herbert took the No. 29 spot.

Josh Brolin, Florence Pugh, Lea Seydoux, Rebecca Ferguson, Souheila Yacoub, Zendaya, US, French actor Timothee Chalamet, Stellan Skarsgard, Austin Butler and Anya Taylor-Joy pose on the red carpet for the World premiere of the film "Dune: Part Two" on February 15, 2024.

Released on August 1, 1965, Dune marked Herbert's debut novel and the first in a six-part sci-fi series. Set 20,000 years in the future on the dessert planet Arrakis, the book follows Paul Atreides, the young heir of House Atreides as he navigates political turmoil in his empire.

Amid the story's power struggle, Dune explores themes of destiny, betrayal and unchecked power, combining an intriguing narrative and societal commentary to create a moving work of fiction. Herbert's marvelous ability to build worlds has often been compared to that of J.R.R. Tolkien in The Lord of the Rings, a testament to the novel's profound complexity and literary craftsmanship.

The novel's outstanding reception has earned it several notable accolades, including a Nebula Award in 1966 for Best Novel, a Hugo Award in 1966 for Best Novel and a Seiun Award in 1974 for Best Translated Long Work. Dune was also a massive commercial success, selling over 12 million copies globally and inspiring multiple screen adaptations, affirming its ability to reach across eras and touch new audiences.

'80s Queen of Pop Takes Us Back to the Beginning With Newly Announced 15th Album

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 11:39am

"The wait is finally over," reads today's announcement email to Madonna fan club followers. "Confessions II will be released globally on July 3rd." Must be that seven-year itch because Madonna's last studio album, Madame X, was released in June 2019. Now the '80s Queen of Pop is taking us all the way back to where she started ... on the dance floor.

Madonna's history with dance goes way back, signing up with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre and training in ballet and modern dance under Martha Graham. So much of her original music was inspired by all the time she spent in New York dance clubs in the late '70s and early '80s. From hits like "Holiday" and "Get Into the Groove," she's been singing about her connection to the dance floor for decades.

Her fan club email describes this connection best: “People think that dance music is superficial. But they’ve got it all wrong. The dance floor is not just a place, it’s a threshold. A ritualistic space where movement replaces language. - Madonna”

As we all know now, dance would just be the beginning for Madonna (born Madonna Louise Ciccone), and she would go on to become top-selling artist with 14 studio albums. Now she's 67 years old and shows no signs of stopping.

In response to the new Confessions II album announcement, fans are losing their minds. Check out a few of the greatest reactions:

The Sky Is Putting On a Dramatic 'Planet Parade'— Here's Who Will Get a Front Row Seat

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 11:37am

There are nights when travel plans revolve around restaurants, museums, or coastlines. And then there are nights like April 20, 2026, when the sky itself becomes the destination.

A rare planetary alignment will unfold in the early morning hours, with multiple planetsclustering low along the horizon in a shifting formation. It is not just an astronomy event. It is a reason to reconsider where you stand on Earth when the sun begins to rise. According to recent reporting from National Geographic, this “planet parade” will be most dramatic between April 18 and 20, when the planets appear closest together in the sky.

Brian Lada, AccuWeather Meteorologist and Astronomy Expert, tells Parade, "Saturn, Mars, and Mercury will be tightly bunched in the early morning sky in mid-April, but the event will be challenging to see. The trio will peak above the eastern horizon about 40 minutes before sunrise on the morning of April 20, but they will appear incredibly low in the sky. Anyone hoping to catch a glimpse will need a cloud-free, unobstructed view of the horizon. A telescope or a pair of binoculars may also come in handy for spotting them. Additionally, light from the rising sun can outshine the planets."

What Exactly Is a Planet Parade?

A planet parade happens when several planets appear grouped together along the same arc of the sky. In this case, Mercury, Mars, and Saturn will form a tight and evolving cluster just above the horizon, shifting from a triangle to a diagonal line over several days.

What makes this event special is how visually compact it becomes. Around April 20, the planets will appear just a few degrees apart, close enough to fit within the same binocular view. This isn’t a straight-line alignment in space, but rather a trick of perspective. As NASA explains in its sky-watching resources, planets orbit along a shared plane, which causes them to appear grouped along the ecliptic from Earth’s vantage point.

When and Where to See It on April 20

To catch the parade at its most dramatic, head outside about 30 minutes before sunrise and look toward the eastern horizon. The window is short. The planets will rise briefly and then disappear into daylight.

This timing makes location critical. The best viewing spots share three key traits:

  • A completely unobstructed eastern horizon
  • Minimal light pollution
  • Clear, dry weather conditions

According to National Geographic, ideal vantage points include coastlines, large lakes, or flat open landscapes where nothing blocks your view of the sky meeting the Earth.

If you happen to miss this planet parade, Brian Lada shares special insight into another celestial event as he states, "Just two nights later on April 22, there will be another planetary gathering that will be much easier to see. Skywatchers looking west after sunset will see Jupiter and the crescent moon hanging high in the western sky. Venus will also be nearby, but lower near the horizon. As an added bonus, the constellation Orion will glow just below Jupiter and the moon. April will be the last time Orion appears in the evening sky until the end of the year, as from late spring into autumn, it is in the same area of the sky as the sun. This includes Orion’s Belt, a light of three tight-knit stars in the center of the constellation."

Why the Southern Hemisphere Gets the Best Seat

Observers in the Southern Hemisphere will see the planets positioned higher above the horizon, making them easier to distinguish and follow as they shift formations. This comes down to the angle of the ecliptic relative to Earth’s tilt, which changes how the planets “rise” depending on where you are standing.

Experts note that planetary alignments often appear low and compressed near the horizon, making visibility highly dependent on location and viewing angle. In practical terms, this means southern destinations offer a longer, clearer viewing window. Think Chile’s northern deserts, Namibia’s open landscapes, or Australia’s coastal edges. From experience, the difference is not subtle. It is the difference between spotting something and actually experiencing it.

Where Travelers Should Go for the Best ViewDark Sky Destinations That Elevate the Experience

Organizations like the International Dark-Sky Association highlight locations around the world where artificial light is minimal, and visibility is exceptional. These include Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve, NamibRand Nature Reserve, and Elqui Valley. These places are already known for their clarity. Add a rare planetary alignment, and they become something else entirely.

Why Coastlines Beat Mountains This Time

Because the planets sit low along the horizon, mountains can actually block your view. What you need instead is a clean, uninterrupted sightline. That is why coastlines shine. Looking out over the ocean or a vast body of water removes all visual obstacles. Even National Geographic specifically points to coastlines and large lakes as ideal viewing environments for this event.

What to Bring and How to Prepare

Binoculars can help you see the planets more clearly, especially when they cluster tightly. But they are not required. The brightest planets will be visible to the naked eye under clear conditions. Give your eyes time to adjust. Arrive early. Stay still. Watch as the sky shifts from black to blue and the planets slowly reveal themselves. And most importantly, check the weather. No amount of planning can outmaneuver cloud cover.

You could stay local and still catch it. But if you are willing to travel, it becomes something larger. A reason to book a quiet stay near the ocean. A reason to explore a dark sky reserve. A reason to plan a trip around something that does not last long.
