Long before Lainey Wilson was selling out arenas and collecting CMA Awards, she was just a little girl from Louisiana with a dream—and one small request for her hero, Tim McGraw.

In a touching video shared to YouTube on Tuesday, June 9, Wilson looked back on a letter she had written to the country superstar years earlier. 

While visiting the Country Music Hall of Fame ahead of CMA Fest 2026, Wilson stumbled upon her note in one of the exhibits. "Dear Mr. Tim McGraw, Singing, writing and performing are the most important things in my life. All I need is the opportunity, I can do the rest," Wilson, 34, read aloud with a chuckle.

Fast-forward to CMA Fest in Nashville on June 6, and Wilson found herself preparing to meet the man who had inspired her for decades. "This is my childhood dream right here," she said before the encounter. "He don't understand how much of an influence he is to me. I made up dance routines to every song he ever had and I might show him."

But McGraw had a surprise of his own. The 59-year-old country icon revealed that he had only recently learned about the letter and felt “embarassed” that he had never seen it when Wilson first sent it. "I wrote it as though I had gotten the letter," McGraw explained. "Had I gotten it then, this is what I would've said."

McGraw then handed a stunned Wilson a thick letter, revealing another shocking surprise. “Tom Douglas had also wrote a song about the letter, so I sent that to you,” McGraw said.

Overcome with emotion, Wilson replied, "You're going to make me cry…"Don't mess my makeup up for this," she added. "Mama and Deddy are not going to believe this." McGraw then embraced the singer and told her he was "so proud" of everything she had accomplished.

The full-circle moment was made even sweeter when the two Louisiana natives later took the stage together during CMA Fest, performing McGraw's 1995 hit "I Like It, I Love It" for thousands of fans at Nashville's Nissan Stadium.

Earlier in the video, before the performance, the two could be seen chopping it up, talking about their home state while discussing how they were going to perform together that night.

Fans were struck with emotion after watching the clip, with so many gushing about McGraw’s gesture and Wilson’s sweetness.

“I'm right there with you darlin'! Born in 87, I grew up to Tim's music. You must have been excited! You worked your butt off to get where you are now. Proud of you darlin'!,” one wrote in the comments.

“OMG this is the greatest thing! Ima cry! ,” another exclaimed.

A third said, “Oh my stars! Tim is down to earth just like Lainey,” while a fourth replied, “Oh I love Lainey! She is absolutely beautiful & humble & funny & just love her southern accent.”

According to the official Graceland website, this year's fourth of July celebration will include  include two "electrifying" concerts, including a performance from The Dreamboats, who are slated to "bring their electrifying, high-energy celebration of 1950s and '60s rock 'n' roll to the Graceland Soundstage for a night that will have you on your feet from the first note."

There will also be a tribute concert from Jimmy Holmes and Patt Dunn, who are expected to "bring Elvis' greatest hits to life — from rock 'n' roll classics to unforgettable ballads and Vegas-era favorites."

The rest of the weekend will also consist of exclusive tour opportunities at various exhibits around Graceland, plus a "fireworks extravaganza" and a special "Gospel Brunch" featuring the Tenneessee Mass Chior.

"For 250 years, America has stood for freedom, spirit, innovation, and unforgettable moments. No entertainer captured that spirit quite like Elvis Presley," the Graceland website states. "He didn’t just love this country — in many ways, he embodied it: bold, original, proud, and larger than life."

On May 29, Charlie Puth played to a massive crowd at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The night, which was part of the pop/R&B singer's Whatever’s Clever World Tour, was full of surprise guest stars, including Art Garfunkel, Busta Rhymes, and Kirk Franklin.

Following Garfunkel’s heartfelt “The Boxer” duet with Puth, late-night show host and comedianJimmy Fallon joined Puth for a modern rendition of one of the greatest classic rock songs of all time.

Sporting sunglasses, a black sweater, gray pants, and white sneakers, Fallon harmonized the lyrics to Toto’s "Africa" with Puth, dressed in an oversize blazer, red tie, and jeans. 

Released in 1982, the track was Toto’s biggest single, hitting No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1983. It was featured on their fourth studio album, Toto IV.

Puth and Fallon did the song justice, hitting the high notes and mastering the sing-along chorus. The performance got the thumbs up from fans on social media, commenting everything from, “Toto belongs in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! One of the best ever!” to 'Africa' by legendary Toto David Paich. You nailed it Jimmy and Charlie.” 

Even David Paich, the co-founder, keyboardist, and principal songwriter of the rock band, gave his seal of approval. Taking to Instagram, the legend posted Billboard’s video of the pair rocking out to “Africa” with the caption: “Charlie and Jimmy blessed the rains.”

Robert Carradine, the beloved actor best known for his roles in Lizzie McGuire and Revengeof the Nerds, died at the age of 71 on February 23 after taking his own life. And now, new information has come out about his death.

TMZ reports that, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's report, Carradine's daughter told investigators her father suffered from bipolar disorder, severe depression, anxiety, and recurring suicidal thoughts for roughly two decades before his death. The report adds that he was "taking multiple medications."

"The M.E.'s report states Carradine checked himself into a Los Angeles psychiatric hospital where he had previously received treatment because he was experiencing ongoing suicidal ideation," the outlet writes. "According to the report, an employee went to Carradine's room the following day to tell him his daughter was on the phone. That's when he was found hanging and unresponsive."

Carradine was in cardiac arrest when he was found, and medical personnel attempted to resuscitate. He was then transferred to an intensive care unit, where he ultimately died.

The actor played the father in the Lizzie McGuire series and film, as well as playing Lewis Skolnik in all four Revenge of the Nerdsmovies. Among those who paid tribute to the actor was Lizzie McGuire star Hilary Duff who shared a post on her Instagram on February 24.

“This one hurts," she wrote. "It’s really hard to face this reality about an old friend. There was so much warmth in the McGuire family, and I always felt so cared for by my on-screen parents. I’ll be forever grateful for that. I’m deeply sad to learn Bobby was suffering. My heart aches for him, his family, and everyone who loved him.”

If there's one thing studying pop music history can teach us, it's that just because a song fails to hit the charts once doesn't mean it won't be a major success sometime down the road...especially if the track is recorded by another artist or band. That's the lesson behind the story of one massively popular '70s ballad, Melissa Manchester's "Don't Cry Out Loud."

Released as a single from Manchester's 1978 album of the same name, "Don't Cry Out Loud" was a huge win for the singer, not only peaking at #10 on the Billboard Hot 100 but staying on the charts for so long that it ended up becoming Billboard′s 26th biggest hit of 1979.

Unfortunately for R&B group The Moments, their earlier take on the song didn't have nearly as much luck on the charts.

When The Moments released their recording of "Don't Cry Out Loud" (originally written by Peter Allen and Carole Bayer Sager) as a single from the album Moments With You in 1976, the track debuted at #79 on the Billboard U.S. R&B chart...and that's exactly where it stayed.

Allen also recorded his own take of the song, according to American Songwriter, which was the version Manchester heard when she agreed to record it (at the suggestion of record label president Clive Davis). But when she got to the studio, she discovered she would be accompanied by a full orchestra.

While Davis said later that Manchester hated "Don't Cry Out Loud," in a 2014 interview with Scott Holleran, the singer shared a different recollection, saying, "He remembers history his way and I remember history my way."

"He remembers bringing me 'Don’t Cry Out Loud,'" Manchester continued. "I remember being friends with Peter Allen and Carole Bayer Sager and hearing 'Don’t Cry Out Loud' as a very quiet song, bringing it to him and saying yes, it’s gorgeous, let’s do it the way Peter did it — as beautiful and quiet. When I showed up in the studio and the cannons blew on this huge version — which turned out beautifully, it turned out as a gift."

Whatever Manchester was feeling when she recorded "Don't Cry Out Loud" certainly came through in her performance, still considered to be one of the all-time classic vocals of the decade.

Keith Urban is a celebrated country music star with 13 CMA Awards. He recently spoke to the Associated Press about why he went in a different direction for his new album.

The 2026 record “Flow State” includes 10 yacht rock covers and an original song with Michael McDonald. The genre swap is a surprise to many, including Urban. He didn’t see it coming, sharing, “I didn’t either, no.”

The 58-year-old was interested in creating a yacht rock album because of its ability to connect people.

“One theme, one feeling, one emotion that just lets us all exhale for a minute — and look up and see a blue sky — just for three minutes and 30 seconds, is so needed,” he said.

Not knowing they were creating Urban’s next album, the singer recorded two songs in one day with his band and producer Dann Huff. They knew they had something and kept going back to the studio.

“I thought, well, maybe this will be an EP, something that’s in between albums,” he said. “It really took on a life of its own.”

That’s when “Flow State” was born.

The "Somebody Like You" singer wanted the songs he included on the record to be as meaningful now as when they were originally released.

“The music was almost an antidote to the stresses of the times. And I think the reason it hits now is for the exact same reason it did back then, which is — there’s just so much divisiveness,”

It’s been a difficult year for Urban. The country music star and actor Nicole Kidman officially divorced in January after 19 years of marriage.

“The record’s called ‘Flow State’ for a really good reason,” he said. “It really was about just constant movement. And yeah, it was a challenging record to make at the same time, for something that kind of sounds so effortless. It was quite a juxtaposition at the time. But I’m really grateful for the way that the record turned out and obviously I’m very, very protective of my family and I’ve remained that way the whole time.”

“Flow State” will be available on digital platforms and CD June 12. 

Jack White, one-half of The White Stripes, is showing no signs of slowing down years after the iconic band’s split.

With over three decades in the music industry, the acclaimed rocker has released a slew of chart-topping songs as a solo artist and as part of a duo.

Recently, the 50-year-old musician sparked major buzz after dropping a surprising announcement.

Jack White kept fans on their toes after updating his Instagram with a post about his new project.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee quietly announced the upcoming release of his seventh studio album.

Titled Frozen Charlotte, the album's artwork features a custom piece created by the musician, showcasing a white-painted sailor figurine with a blue skull in place of its head.

“An old carnival prize chalkware statue from the 1940s of a sailor boy falls over in my recording studio and its head breaks off. I grab a nearby blue skull shaker percussion object and glue it in the head’s place. I painted the body white and suddenly an all-new character avatar that I called ‘Frozen Charlotte’ came to life,” the “Seven Nation Army” hitmaker wrote on Instagram.

Besides his announcement, White also mentioned that the artwork is currently on display at the These Thoughts May Disappear exhibition at the Newport Street Gallery in London through September, marking his first-ever public art exhibit. 

Third Man Records, an independent record label co-founded by Jack White with Ben Blackwell and Ben Swank, described the new album as “an intense rock and roll punch with never-far-behind blues underpinnings,” a sound that is familiar to longtime fans while also serving as an inviting entry point for new listeners.

With the album’s official release set for July 10, he also dropped his lead single, “Dollar Bill,” a blues-rock track featuring heavy guitar riffs written by Jack White himself.

Apart from the upcoming release of Frozen Charlotte, Jack White is currently on the road for his headlining European tour, which kicked off on April 30 at Sigulda Castle in Sigulda, Latvia.

This will be followed by runs in North America and the U.K. before concluding in November.

The actress behind some of cinema's most unforgettable characters is finally getting her Oscar.

Glenn Close, one of the most nominated performers never to win, will receive an honorary Academy Award at the 2026 Governors Awards. The honor closes one of Hollywood's longest-running near misses. Close has been nominated eight times and walked away empty-handed every time, a record she shares with the late Peter O'Toole.

Her nominated roles read like a tour of modern film: the boiling-over obsession of Fatal Attraction, the scheming marquise of Dangerous Liaisons, the quietly furious spouse of The Wife and the fierce grandmother of Hillbilly Elegy. Close has won nearly every other major prize along the way, including three Emmys, three Tonys and three Golden Globes. The Oscar was the missing piece.

"Throughout her extraordinary body of work, Glenn Close's unparalleled emotional range has brought to life some of the most complex characters in cinema," the Academy said.

She is not the only overdue name on the list. Director Ridley Scott, the filmmaker behind Alien, Blade Runner and Gladiator, will also receive an honorary Oscar after four nominations and no wins. Disney's first Black animator, Floyd Norman, who worked on everything from Sleeping Beauty to Toy Story 2 across a 65-year career, rounds out the honorary trio. Killer Films founders Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler will receive the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award.

Academy President Lynette Howell Taylor called the five honorees "remarkable individuals whose groundbreaking work has forever shaped the art of filmmaking."

The 17th Governors Awards will be handed out Nov. 15 at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Ovation Hollywood, where the statue that eluded Close for more than 40 years will finally be hers.

Anybody who was around when Pearl Jam's 1991 debut album Ten exploded will remember just how ubiquitous the band was in those days. Whether you were listening to the radio or watching MTV, the album's hit singles ("Alive," "Evenflow" and "Jeremy") were in near constant rotation.

But another thing any Pearl Jam fan from back in the day can tell you is that one of Ten's most beloved and enduring tracks, "Black," was never actually released as a single...because Eddie Vedder wouldn't allow it.

The emotional ballad about unrequited love was, unsurprisingly, extremely relevant to countless young Pearl Jam listeners, with lyrics that definitely hit home for anybody who recently had their heart broken: I know someday you'll have a beautiful life / I know you'll be a star in somebody else's sky / But why, why, why can't it be / Can't it be mine?

Those lyrics were, of course, very meaningful to Vedder (he wrote them, after all). As he explained in a 1993 interview with Cameron Crowe for Rolling Stone, "There are certain songs that come from emotion."

"t's got nothing to do with melody or timing or even words; it has to do with the emotion behind the song," he continued. "You can't put out 50 percent. You have to sing them from a feeling. Like 'Alive' and 'Jeremy' to this day — and 'Black.' Those songs, they tear me up."

In fact, "Black" meant so much to Vedder that he refused to let the record label release it as a single or make a music video for it.

"Some songs just aren't meant to be played between Hit No. 2 and Hit No. 3," he said. "You start doing those things, you'll crush it. That's not why we wrote songs. We didn't write to make hits. But those fragile songs get crushed by the business. I don't want to be a part of it. I don't think the band wants to be part of it."

Vedder's reluctance to promote "Black" certainly didn't do anything to hurt its popularity, as the song ended up peaking at #3 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart and #20 on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart in 1993. Years later, in 2011, Rolling Stone readers voted "Black" at #9 on a list of "The Best Ballads of All Time."

Still more years later, the track continues to find new listeners. In February of 2026, Forbes reported that "Black" was once again climbing the charts; specifically, Billboard‘s Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart, where it debuted at #24.

Actor Simon Helberg revealed that he had debilitating anxiety during his time starring as Howard Wolowitz on the beloved CBSsitcomThe Big Bang Theory.

During an appearance on the June 9 episode of Jesse Tyler Ferguson's podcast, Dinner's on Me, Helberg said he was "pretty paralyzed with fear and anxiety for, like, the first eight or nine years" of The Big Bang Theory. As fans of the sitcom are aware, the series, which follows nerdy STEM professionals working at Caltech, had a 12-season run until 2019.

Helberg explained that he felt overwhelmed because of "the pressure" and "the expectation" that came with starring in such a successful show.

"Like all of my dreams should be coming true, and it just felt so scary to me all the time. I just felt so scared. I just always felt like I was going to kind of fall apart," shared Helberg, who also said he is prone to feeling anxious.

Helberg shared more information regarding his anxiety during a 2022 episode of his Big Bang Theory co-star Mayim Bialik's podcast, Mayim Bialik's Breakdown. Helberg said his anxiety increased "right after [they] shot the pilot to Big Bang" and "before [he] was getting married" to his wife of 19 years, Jocelyn Towne. He explained that he was constantly worried that he was going to lose the life he had built.

"I just didn't have any way to cope with it, and it was hard," said the father of two in the 2022 interview.

He then said he "went to different therapists" and "was on medications" for his anxiety that ended up giving him brain fog.

"I just was very worried and confused and nodding off and just not myself. And, seriously, I do remember being curled up in a fetal position in my dressing room multiple times," recalled the 45-year-old actor.

In addition, Helberg shared he felt guilty about his reactions.

"That awful, ugly part of it, that is so challenging that accompanies all of these breakdowns, which is the 'Why am I not enjoying this? Or 'How am I so ungrateful,' or 'I'm so awful, I'm so superficial. What's wrong with me?'" said the actor.

Helberg clarified that a therapist, whom Bialik recommended, helped him better manage his mental health.

Bill Gates addressed how he met sex offender and financier Jeffrey Epstein in a testimony for the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee at the Capitol. He claimed his affairs weren't connected to the man who was convicted for sex trafficking minors.

Gates, 70, claimed it was philanthropy that made his path cross with Epstein in 2011. He said the connection that was built afterward was "a huge mistake" on June 10, according to the Associated Press.

The billionaire said he wanted his testimony to help "find justice for the victims." The House Oversight Committee formally requested that the Microsoft co-founder give this testimony. Gates denied knowing anything about Epstein's crimes. He reportedly revealed other influential people who interacted with the criminal.

Gates was married toMelinda Gates from 1994 to 2021. He claimed Epstein knew about his affairs.

"It was after this that I learned Epstein had become aware of sensitive information about my personal life, including the fact that I had been unfaithful in my marriage," the billionaire claimed, according to E! News. "These affairs had nothing to do with my interactions with Epstein, but they were painful for my family."

Gates believed Epstein planned to use the information to force him to interact again. He said that Epstein was unsuccessful. The billionaire claimed he stopped interacting with the financier in 2014.

Spencer Pratt will not be the next mayor of Los Angeles. And Jimmy Kimmelhas something to say about it. The late-night host recently roasted Pratt after his loss to Nithya Raman (the city council member will face incumbent Mayor Karen Bass in a November runoff race), renting him a U-Haul to move out of L.A.

During his monologue on Tuesday's episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, Kimmel said, “You know, he clearly promised that if Karen Bass or Nithya Raman were elected mayor, he’s going to move out of L.A. He said he was done with L.A. and Spencer; if you’re watching, we are so, so sorry to see you go.”

Kimmel continued, “You’re a man of your word, and you’ve got to go. You said you were going to go, and I know things might be tight right now, especially out-of-state donation money is running out. Moving is expensive. So, to help you out, we rented you a U-Haul. 

Yes, Kimmel did indeed rent a U-Haul. As he continues to pan Pratt, a clip of the truck rolls. And this isn't just a plain U’Haul. Kimmel’s team decked it out with balloons, a picture of Pratt’s face, and a crystal-covered sign that reads, “Just Defeated.” 

The late-night host added, “This is it. It has plenty of room. It’s got two beds, tables, chairs, all your crystals, whatever you want. Our staff spent the whole day decorating for you…I hope that you and Heidi are happy wherever it is you go. Maybe you could be mayor there. Or maybe just run for mayor and finish in third place there. It could be fun for your new reality show, season 2. Either was mazel tov and goodbye.” 

The stunt obviously didn't sit well with Pratt. In response, the former The Hills star posted a video on Instagram of the rubble left behind after his home burned down in the Palisades fire with the caption, “Jimmy Kimmel I guess you missed the part of the story I don’t need a U-Haul…I have nothing left to pack.”

Pratt’s fans also came to his defense, posting comments in support such as, “I am so sorry your family lost your home. Whatever anyone may say, and there are some nasty people out there, no one deserves to lose their home and the only place their children have ever known,” and, “Jimmy Kimmel- casting stones from his Ivory Tower, so brave.”

From Elliott Smith’s “Needle in the Hay” in The Royal Tenenbaums, to The Kinks’ “Strangers” in The Darjeeling Limited, Anderson’s soundtracks help define his characters and heighten the emotional payoff of his highly stylized films. For Rolling Stone, it doesn’t get better than Faces’ “Ooh La La” closing 1998's Rushmore.

Allow us to set the scene: Following the successful stage play directed by Jason Schwartzman's Max Fischer, the audience and crew celebrate at an after-party. Max dances with his new girlfriend, Sara Tanaka's Margaret, with the two complimenting each other’s performances. Bill Murray's Mr. Blume then cuts in, freeing Max to chat with Olivia Williams' Miss Cross. She asks Max to dance; he calls on the DJ to play something with a little more kick. The record skips, static plays, then Faces’ “Ooh La La” strums in. 

As the two look deep into each other’s eyes, Miss Cross removes Max’s glasses, smiles, and the two walk hand-in-hand to the dance floor in a slow-motion display of youthful ambition and adult reflection. The curtain closes, the credits roll, and the scene becomes the perfect bittersweet life-affirming conclusion. Or as Rolling Stone put it, the “best ending ever, man.”

“Ooh La La,” described by the outlet as a “1973 pub-rock oldie,” was co-written by lead guitarist Ronnie Wood and bassist Ronnie Lane, with Wood singing. The song was released on what would become Faces’ fourth and final studio album, due to Rod Stewart’s fledgling solo career. Ooh La La was the band’s second-best performing album, following their 1971 release, A Nod Is As Good As a Wink to a Blind Horse.

Now, more than five decades later, the group have reunited (minus Lane and keyboardist Ian McLagan, who have both passed away) and announced a new album tentatively set for this year sometime.

As for Anderson, Rushmore was his sophomore film, following Bottle Rocket and preceding The Royal Tenenbaums. Though it was just a modest box office success, the innovative comedy about misdirected affection has garnered a cult following since its release and is consistently mentioned roundups and rankings. 

Anderson's current untitled and tight-lipped project has been described as having “a darkness,” and sees the director reuniting with Roman Coppola and The Phoenician Scheme star Richard Ayoade.

Musician Joey Santiago, best known for being the Pixies' guitarist, turned 61 on June 10, as reported by Songfacts.

In a May 2026 interview with The Times, the guitarist discussed being a founding member of the Pixies, a band best known for hits like "Where Is My Mind" and "Here Comes Your Man." He recalled that he was introduced to the band's singer and guitarist Black Francis, born Charles Thompson, while he was a University of Massachusetts Amherst student. Santiago said he ended up leaving college after he and Francis established the Pixies in 1986.

“I was on academic probation straight away. I have five brothers and the plan was for all of us to get a college degree, so my parents, even my brothers, were disapproving of my own plans to be in a band. But I knew we were doing something special, something different, from the very start," said Santiago during the May 2026 interview.

He then noted that he and his bandmates, which also include Kim Deal and David Lovering, found success "very quickly," which caused him to realize he didn't "have to go back to college."

In a July 2025 interview with D'Addario and Co., Santiago opened up about how he became a guitarist. He shared that his "music journey began with listening to music," specifically The Beatles, when he was a child. Santiago also said he learned to play the guitar by using his brother's instrument.

During the July 2025 interview, Santiago described the way he plays his guitar as "really simple."

"I'll come up with something and I could see maybe another guitar player go, 'Okay, well that's a baby step.' Not for me. I'm landing here. I'm done," said the guitarist.

He then noted that most of the Pixies' music is simplistic.

"Sometimes I struggle with the simplicity of it, but it's part of who we are. And I like playing that way. I like being a, you know, it's very mischievous to be simple, beyond simple," said Santiago during the interview.

Josh couldn't contain his excitement during a recent appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. "He's so cool. He's got incredible stories," he told the host about his time working with Mick in Italy.

"He's exactly what you imagined Mick Jagger to be like," the Challengers actor added before adding that Mick was

When ask how Josh's real English teacher dad felt about Mick playing his on-screen father, The Crown actor joked: "He was the most excited. More excited than I was, really."

He added that his dad called him the day after filming to ask how he compared to the rockstar.

Italian media reported that the Rolling Stones frontman arrived in Stromboli last month via helicopter. Jagger had such a great time, the police were called to the wrap party. Per The Independent, the frontman and fellow cast members were at the party in a local venue on Wednesday in May when authorities attended and asked them to end the fun due to a local rule banning music on Wednesdays.

This isn't the rock legend's first foray into acting. He had lead roles in 1970's Performance and Ned Kelly. He later appeared in 1987's Running Out of Luck, directed by Julien Temple, and later in a villainous role in the cyberpunk thriller Freejack, alongside Emilio Estevez. Jagger went on to earn rave reviews for his role in Berlin set Bent and in 2002's The Man From Elysian Fields where he owned an escort service for wealthy women. Since then, Jagger has only been seen in cameo roles or playing himself.

Jagger has also used his star power to serve as a producer on three films. He produced one about his musical hero, James Brown (the biopic Get on Up and documentary Mr Dynamite), as well as Michael Apted’s world war thriller Enigma, from 2001.
