Zendaya Gets Real About a Struggle Many Young Black Women Face on Set

Thu, 07/30/2026 - 2:33pm

Zendaya has earned a reputation for being unafraid to take risks, and that extends well beyond her film roles. In 2024, she even switched up her hair colors to showcase her very different characters in Dune: Part Two and Challengers.

"I had to figure out how I would differentiate between the two red carpets and make them feel really different," she told Vogue. "That’s why we decided to go blonde—I had never been blonde before."

Overcoming On-Set Hair Damage

And she's continued to get more daring with her hairstyles. While promoting Spider-Man: Brand New Day for the past week, she's sported a wavy, long blowout; a ponytail with slicked-down bangs; and long, straight hair with blunt baby bangs. However, while she loves experimenting with her hair now, she admitted she had to fix the damage first, after years on shows like Disney's Shake It Up and K.C. Undercover.

"When I was younger, I was on television, and I had an experience I think a lot of young women, especially young Black women, go through, which was not really understanding how to care for it on set and not having the right kind of people looking after my curls.”

The Struggle for Inclusivity

Zendaya is far from the only actress who's spoken out about the frustrations of working with stylists who don't know how to style Black hair. In 2022, her Euphoria co-star, Storm Reid, explained her own experience.

"It has been a struggle for me specifically on sets when it comes to the hair disparity and people not just knowing how to deal with Black hair," Reid told PEOPLE. "In a way, it feels dehumanizing… when it's time for your hair to look nice and there's nobody on set to be able to help you achieve that. They really just don't understand Black hair care. It's disheartening and it's heartbreaking."

Resilience and Reclamation

Zendaya’s hair journey is a testament to both resilience and reclamation. By setting firm boundaries, surrounding herself with experts who understand her hair's needs, and fearlessly experimenting with new looks, she isn't just protecting her natural curl. She's inspiring a broader, much-needed shift toward inclusivity and proper care in Hollywood's beauty industry.

Thu, 07/30/2026 - 2:24pm

A public health alert has been issued by the Food Safety and Inspection Service for frozen burritos sold at Costco due to an undeclared allergen. The FSIS, which is a branch of the United States Department of Agriculture, issued the alert on July 29, sharing that “the product contains egg, a known allergen, which is not declared on the product label.”

The steak, cilantro, and lime burritos from Red’s were shipped to Costco distribution centers in Illinois, Michigan, and Minnesota and sold at Costco warehouses between June 23 and July 28, 2026, according to a notice issued to affected customers. The burritos are popular with fans, who have called them their “favorite frozen burritos of all time,” “pretty tasty,” and “so yummy.”

As of now, the issue is limited to Costco’s Midwest region, with the affected product featuring a Best If Used By date of December 20, 2027. Additionally, affected boxes have one of the following production lots on the side of the packaging label:

“Out of an abundance of caution, please do not consume the product if you have a sensitivity to egg, since it might contain an undeclared egg allergen. Please return the item to your local Costco for a full refund,” says the letter sent to affected Costco customers. According to the FSIS alert, a consumer initially flagged that a different product, which contains egg, was found in a carton of Red’s Steak Cilantro and Lime Burritos.

“There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an illness should contact a health care provider,” states the FSIS alert. Additionally, it urges consumers to call the toll-free USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 888-MPHotline (888-674-6854) or reach out via email to MPHotline@usda.gov if they have food safety questions.

1943 Novella, Written During World War II, Named Among Books That 'Everyone Should Read At Least Once' on Goodreads

Thu, 07/30/2026 - 2:04pm

There are some books that leave such a lasting impression, they stay with readers long after the final page has been turned. A great example of one of these books is The Little Prince, a beloved novella that has captivated readers for generations and continues to earn recognition as one of literature's most essential works, more than eight decades since its publication.

Written by French author Antoine de Saint-Exupery during World War II, The Little Prince was published in 1943 and tells the story of a pilot who is stranded in the Sahara Desert and meets a young extraterrestrial boy — who is also a prince. The prince shares tales of his small home asteroid, his travels to other planets, and his unlikely friendship with a wise fox on Earth.

The short story is highly regarded as one of the best books of all time, with Goodreads readers voting it as one of the "books that everyone should read at least once".

On the social book-sharing website, The Little Prince has earned an average rating of 4.34 out of five stars, with many book lovers sharing praise for the novella.

"This is my seventh time to reread and enjoy the little prince’s thought provoking, sad, poetic, nostalgic, powerful, emotional journey to the world," wrote Goodreads user Nilufer Ozmekik. "Nearly 80 years later from its first release it still addresses to your heart, giving its important social criticism messages and also it gives you hope about friendship, childhood, life. That’s why after all these years the book is still cherished by both adults and young generations."

The Little Prince has been taken from page to screen several times, and in 2015, it was adapted into an animated film, which was acquired by Netflix in the United States with an all-star voice cast including Jeff Bridges, Rachel McAdams, and Mackenzie Foy.

Becoming a massive hit with audiences around the world, the 2015 movie won the coveted César Award for Best Animated Film in 2016 and, in 2017, the BAFTA Kids Award in the Feature Film category.

Glen Hansard's Final Performance Came Hours Before His Death

Thu, 07/30/2026 - 2:02pm

Oscar-winning musician and Once star Glen Hansard spent his final hours doing what he loved most: making music.

Just hours before the Irish singer-songwriter was killed in a motorcycle crash in Dublin in the early morning of Wednesday, July 29, Hansard joined an intimate traditional Irish music session at The Wren's Nest pub, where he sang alongside fellow musicians in front of a small crowd.

The intimate gathering was reportedly held in celebration of Mayo County’s football victory, and videos from the evening show Hansard singing alongside fellow musicians before he left the pub.

Hansard died at age 56 after a single-vehicle motorcycle crash in western Dublin. Authorities are continuing a standard investigation into the fatal accident.

The Dublin native was best known as the frontman of The Frames and as one half of folk duo The Swell Season with Markéta Irglová. In 2008, the pair won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for "Falling Slowly" from the acclaimed indie film Once, in which they also starred together. Hansard later saw Once adapted into the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical.

The Wren’s Nest shared its sorrow following Hansard’s death, remembering him as a musician whose generosity and talent touched countless people. As news of his death spread, tributes poured in from across the music world, too.

Bruce Springsteen remembered Hansard as "a great musician" and "a generous friend."

Bono praised his compassion and authenticity, calling him a "musical and mischievous archangel of Ballymun."

"Sometimes I would wonder if Glen Hansard really existed…." the U2 frontman said.

Fellow Irish artist Hozier was among the many musicians honoring Hansard's lasting influence on Ireland's music community.

Hansard is survived by his wife, Finnish poet Maire Saaritsa, and their young son. His official website still lists several upcoming European tour dates later this year, a heartbreaking reminder of the music he was still planning to share with audiences.

Grammy-Winning Star, With No. 1 Hit Song, Brings Fans to Tears After Delivering 'Beautiful' Live Performance

Thu, 07/30/2026 - 1:59pm

Daniel Caesar's fans know that when he hits the stage, he's going to deliver a soulful set that transforms into an emotional experience, and his latest show did just that.

Taking the stage at Baltimore's CFG Bank Arena on Tuesday night, July 28, the R&B crooner sat on a stool, playing his guitar and serenading the crowd during a show along his international Son of Spergy Tour. He also stood at some points during the performance, while showing off his musical chops by switching over to the piano for other moments of the set.

One part of the concert, specifically, is making the rounds on social media, showcasing a segment where he surprisingly granted a fan's request by singing a song he hadn't pulled out of his repertoire in quite some time. In a TikTok clip, the fan can be seen holding a sign up high where Caesar could see it, before quickly losing his cool after realizing the R&B-soul star was actually taking the song request.

The now-viral footage finds the fan jumping up and down before the crooner begins his hit "Superposition" from 2019 album Case Study 01. "I’m still in awe that this even happened guys," the fan admitted in the caption of the upload.

Fellow fans hopped into the comments section with equally as enamored reactions to the impromptu performance.

"Bro got him to play superposition.. **daps you up** Preciate you my boa," one person said, while another joked, "i owe u my first born."

"Fomo out my ass omg, chicago was blessed with we find love but WOW," a third commenter wrote, with the original poster, @soyysaucyyy responding, "I actually envy ur setlist so bad but this raised the bar fr."

Someone else couldn't contain their emotions, admitting, "you are a blessing i literally cried tears when he started singing," to which the fan concurred: "Not a single dry eye from me too."

More commenters dropped notes like, "Oh so u the reason I was sobbin even harder ?" "new pov unlocked preciate for the song request," "I wanna be so mad but I’m so happy you guys got that," "bless your soul," "HE DID NOT OMG 😭," "THANK YOU FOR THIS," and "you're the actual goat."

A separate concert attendee called his performance of an unreleased track entitled "Nuclear Family," "beautiful."

During the show, Caesar performed a collection of hits from his catalog, including "Rain Down," "Who Knows," "Cyanide," "Moon," "Always," "Violet," "Let Me Know," "Have a Baby (With Me)," "Let Go," and "Superpowers," as well as favorites from Freudian like "Get You," "Best Part," and "Blessed."

The concert series supports his fourth studio album, Son of Spergy, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart in late 2025. It also hit the Billboard 200, peaking at No. 4 and marking his first entry on the chart.

One of the tracks from Caesar's latest musical project even earned placement on a new chart for the artist when "Rain Down" broke through the Hot Gospel Songs Chart, debuting at No. 1.

Prior to the release, the Ontario, Canada-native already had a handful of No. 1 hits to his name. In 2021, Justin Bieber's "Peaches," where he's featured alongside Giveon, clinched the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100. "Best Part" with H.E.R., for which he also won his first and only Grammy for Best R&B Performance in 2019, hit No. 1 on Billboard's Adult R&B Songs chart, as did Freudian's "Get You" (2017) featuring Kali Uchis.

The Son of Spergy Tour kicked off in May in Asia, before coming stateside, where he has been playing in several cities across North America since mid-July. Next up, Caesar is headed to the famed Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N. Y., on July 30. The North American leg of the concert series wraps up on Aug. 24 in Anaheim, Calif., and he's slated to perform seven shows in the EU/UK from Aug. 29 to Sept. 11. Tickets are available online.

Danny DeVito's Friendship With Michael Douglas Began 61 Years Ago — But Not in the Film Biz

Thu, 07/30/2026 - 1:52pm

You might know him best as the narrator and villainous dad from Matilda. Or Frank Reynolds from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The list of Danny DeVito roles goes on.

To most Americans, he's the outrageously funny characters he portrayed, which also includes the iconic sitcomTaxi (as Louie De Palma).

But for most of his five-decade career, the 81-year-old has also been a successful director and a producer who fights for films he believes in — including the Quentin Tarantino classic Pulp Fiction — to steadily become a major Hollywood player.

His first paying role was in the play The Contrast in 1965. When they performed at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center in Connecticut, he also helped build a new amphitheater on the property — and none other than Michael Douglas was on the work crew. They bonded instantly, AARP The Magazine reports.

“We had a lot of fun and then maintained our friendship over an incredibly long period of time,” Douglas, also 81, told the magazine as part of DeVito's cover-story article published Wednesday, July 29. “When I graduated from college and ended up in New York, he and I were roommates. He just was a special guy. And I think it was also that I was a little self-conscious in terms of being an early nepo baby, and he never treated me as a movie star’s son.”

Douglas ultimately started producing and, at one point, took director Miloš Forman to see an off-Broadway production of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, in which DeVito played Martini, a childlike mental patient given to vivid hallucinations. When it was time to choose the actors for the film version, “Danny was the first person cast,” Douglas told AARP. "Miloš saw him and said, 'Yeah, we have Martini now.'"

Looking ahead, DeVito is returning to the big screen to reprise his role as Grandpa Eddie in Jumanji: Open World, due out on Christmas. “The older I get, the better I get for that part, so just bring it on,” he says.

Alysa Liu Fans Are Divided Over One Bold Choice in Her Newest Collab

Thu, 07/30/2026 - 1:51pm

It turns out not everyone wants more than one Alysa Liu.

The Olympic figure skater is one of several athletes and cultural figures starring in Nike's new Studio Fleece campaign, which introduces what Nike describes as "The Ultimate Uniform for the Everyday Athlete." But it's the brand's creative decision involving the 20-year-old that has people talking.

Throughout the campaign imagery, several models appear with Liu's signature halo hairstyle—featuring her famous blonde and brown stripes—creating clones of the figure skater. The concept has quickly divided fans online.

View this post on Instagram

Some fans felt the campaign diluted what makes Liu stand out, arguing that her individuality is part of her appeal and questioning why Nike chose to recreate her signature look on other models.

“Why [clone] Alysa , she is unique and very nice , please [be] less mainstream,” one wrote in the comments.

Another stated, “Let’s encourage ppl to not be unique, good idea 🤨.”

“Why is everyone there a still life of alysa 💔,” replied a third, while a fourth commented, “That's sad af. Take something unique and make it not.”

Others defended the artistic direction and loved seeing the figure skater being featured.

“Love seeing Alysa Liu featured in this campaign. 👏🤍,” a fan wrote.

Another agreed, saying, “Now this is awesome.”

The collaboration marks another high-profile moment for Liu, whose star has continued to rise following a breakout year both on and off the ice. Earlier this month, she accepted the ESPY for Best Breakthrough Athlete, where she also caught attention for her custom open-back Louis Vuitton gown. The look gave fans their clearest view yet of a tattoo Liu later explained she got with her best friend when she was 18—a personal detail many hadn't seen before because the ink is usually covered.

As for the Studio Fleece collection, it launches Thursday, July 30 in North America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa before rolling out globally on September 1.

This seven-piece queen bedding set includes a comforter, two decorative shams, one flat sheet, one fitted sheet, and two standard pillowcases in a coordinating solid color. The comforter and shams boast a decorative floral print and a puff-style with ruched stitching between pockets of fluffy down alternative fill, which gives the set its shabby chic look. For size reference, the queen comforter measures 90-by-90 inches, which should allow it to drape nicely over the edges of a queen-sized mattress.

This bedding is Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified, which means the materials have been tested and proven completely free from harmful substances. It's also easy to care for, as it's machine-washable on a cold, gentle cycle and can be tumble-dried on low. The set arrives in a vacuum-sealed package, so you may need to throw the comforter in the dryer on low for about 20 minutes to help it regain its lofty appearance.

Walmart shoppers appreciated the "cozy" and "buttery-soft" feel of this bedding, noting that it's "nice and fluffy." As far as aesthetics go, one reviewer said the "colors and pattern are lovely," while another raved about its vintage-inspired appeal. 2012 Film Starring Kevin Hart Gets Named the Greatest Modern Rom-Com Based on a Book

Thu, 07/30/2026 - 1:38pm

While it can be argued that modern audiences have a preference for original screenplays, many rom-com fans tend to be enamored by movies in the genre that are inspired by books, both fiction and non-fiction. For instance, the publication Collider recently released a list of "the 8 greatest modern rom-coms based on books," which featured acclaimed films from the sweet and sometimes silly genre, like 2018's Love, Simon,Crazy Rich Asians, also released in 2018, and Bridget Jones's Diary from 2001.

The 2012 film Think Like a Man, inspired by Steve Harvey's 2009 self-help book, Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man: What Men Really Think About Love, Relationships, Intimacy, and Commitment, was at the top of Collider's July 26 list. Think Like a Man has a score of 55 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Meanwhile, Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man holds a rating of 3.77 out of 5 from 52,806 readers on Goodreads.

Kevin Hart Spoke Highly of His 'Think Like a Man' Castmates in a 2012 Interview

In a 2012 interview with RealTalk, alongside the film's cast, the producer of Think Like a Man, Will Packer, revealed he was interested in adapting Harvey's book, which he noted "was a New York Times bestseller," for quite some time. He also said that after he was able to secure the book's rights, Harvey conveyed that he "believed in the vision" of the movie.

"Honestly, he was like, 'Alright man, don't f--k it up.' That's exactly what he said. I said, 'I won't brother,'" recalled the film producer.

Comedian Kevin Hart, who played Cedric in the rom-com, also said he believed he and his castmates' genuine chemistry helped elevate the movie.

"We're already friends, and I think the one thing you see in this movie is great chemistry, you know, on camera and off camera," said Hart in the 2012 interview.

In addition, Hart said that no one in the film, which featured Taraji P. Henson, Regina Hall, Gabrielle Union, and Romany Malco, "felt like they were above and beyond everybody else."

"Nobody ran to their trailers after the scenes were done. We stayed. We were talking. We conversed the whole movie, and to me, that's great. Because you don't see that when you do films," said Hart while speaking to RealTalk.

‘I’m a Cardiologist—This Is the First Thing I Ask When Someone Says Their Chest Feels Tight'

Thu, 07/30/2026 - 1:25pm

Experiencing chest pain isn’t just unpleasant; it can be scary. After all, if anything is going on with your heart, that’s pretty serious.

There’s a wide range of causes for chest pain, some serious (like a heart attack) and some not necessarily serious, but painful (like heartburn). If you have even a germ of a worry that you’re having a heart attack, call 911 or go to the emergency room ASAP

Heart attacks can feel sudden and include intense chest tightness, or they can be less obvious and include only a brief, sharp pain in the neck, arm or back. It’s always best to err on the side of caution and take chest pain seriously, which means seeking immediate medical help.

Considering that chest pain has so many potential causes, it’s natural to wonder how doctors pinpoint the root cause—especially since it must be done quickly. Here, cardiologists share the first question they ask someone who says their chest feels tight and explain what to do to feel better both in the moment and if it happens regularly.

Related: 8 Real People Explain Exactly What Having a Heart Attack Feels Like

The First Question Cardiologists Ask Someone Experiencing Chest Tightness

Dr. Nieca Goldberg, MD, a cardiologist at NYU Langone Health and the founder of the Joan H. Tisch Center for Women’s Health at NYU Langone, says that when someone tells her they are experiencing chest tightness, the first question she asks them is where exactly they are feeling the tightness. This, she explains, is the first step in figuring out the cause.

“I ask if the chest tightness is on the left, right or middle of the chest. Then, I ask if it’s sharp, dull, stabbing, pressing or squeezing. The intensity is also important. Is the chest discomfort mild, moderate or severe? Another important question is what provoked the chest discomfort. Was it physical activity or did the discomfort occur after eating? Does it get worse when taking a deep breath?” Dr. Goldberg says.

Related: The One Thing You Should Never, Ever Do If You Wake Up With Chest Pain

Dr. Alan Rozanski, MD, a cardiologist and a professor of medicine at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, explains that it’s important to first determine if the chest tightness is being caused by a serious medical condition, such as heart disease or a heart attack. Similar to Dr. Goldberg, he starts by asking questions related to where the tightness is occurring, what it feels like and what brought it on.

“I also ask whether it is associated with symptoms such as shortness of breath, nausea, sweating, dizziness or pain that spreads to the jaw, shoulder or arm. Those answers help determine how urgently the person needs further evaluation,” Dr. Rozanski says.

After asking questions to learn more about the pain, he next asks about medical history and does a physical examination. “Depending on what is found, additional testing may be appropriate, such as an electrocardiogram, a stress test or imaging to look for evidence of coronary artery disease,” Dr. Rozanski tells Parade.

One often overlooked cause of chest tightness is anxiety. “Anxiety is certainly a common cause of chest tightness, but it should not automatically be assumed to be the cause. Before attributing symptoms to anxiety, it's important to consider and, when appropriate, rule out heart disease and other medical conditions that can produce similar symptoms,” Dr. Rozanski explains.

The initial questions about the intensity of the chest tightness and where exactly it’s occurring help cardiologists figure out if the cause is anxiety. Anxiety-induced chest tightness tends to be sharp and brief, while chest tightness caused by a cardiac problem is more persistent and feels like squeezing.

Why Does Anxiety Cause Chest Tightness?

According to a study published in The American Journal of Medicine, chest pain is the most common symptom experienced by people with panic disorders. Dr. Goldberg explains that anxiety can lead to feelings of chest tightness because anxiety increases heart rate and blood pressure

Dr. Rozanski says this too, sharing, “Anxiety can activate the body's ‘fight-or-flight’ response. Stress hormones, such as adrenaline, increase heart rate, blood pressure and muscle tension throughout the body, including the muscles of the chest wall. Many people also begin breathing faster or more deeply than normal."

This, he explains, can tighten the chest muscles, alter carbon dioxide levels in the blood and create sensations of chest tightness, pressure or difficulty taking a satisfying breath.

What To Do if You Are Experiencing Chest Tightness Due to Anxiety

It bears repeating that chest pain needs to be taken seriously and treated immediately. Both Dr. Rozanski and Dr. Goldberg warn against assuming chest tightness is being caused by anxiety and recommend seeing a doctor immediately any time it’s something you are experiencing. “Do not try to determine on your own whether it's anxiety or a heart problem. Treat it as a possible emergency until a medical professional says otherwise,” Dr. Rozanski stresses.

If anxiety is causing your chest to feel tight, Dr. Rozanski recommends trying to take slow, controlled breaths, making the exhale slightly longer than the inhale. This, he explains, calms the nervous system, which will reduce heart rate and blood pressure and make that feeling of chest tightness go away.

“Relaxing the shoulders, easing muscle tension and gently shifting attention away from distressing thoughts may also help symptoms ease,” Dr. Rozanski adds.

If anxiety is causing you to experience chest tightness on a regular basis, Dr. Goldberg says it’s important to see your healthcare provider about it. After ruling out any cardiac issues, your doctor may connect you to a mental health provider who can help teach you how to manage anxiety in healthy ways so it doesn’t reach the point where it manifests as physical symptoms.

Additionally, Dr. Rozanski explains that your medical provider may prescribe anti-anxiety medication if it’s an appropriate fit.

“The most effective prevention is treating the underlying anxiety rather than just managing individual episodes,” he notes. This means getting good sleep, practicing mindfulness or relaxation techniques and maintaining strong social connections, which can all reduce the frequency of anxiety symptoms. He adds that regular physical activity may also help alleviate anxious feelings in some people, while also benefiting heart health.

“One important point is that anxiety and heart disease are not mutually exclusive,” Dr. Rozanski says. “A person with anxiety can still develop heart disease, and someone with heart disease can also experience anxiety-related chest symptoms. Any new, worsening, or unexplained chest tightness deserves medical evaluation—even if you've been told before that your symptoms are anxiety-related.”

Remember, always take chest pain seriously and don’t assume you know the cause. Leave the diagnosing to doctors. That way, you can be sure to get the most effective treatment possible.

It turns out the casting has a surprising real-life connection.

After the first images of Johnson, 36, portraying Marilyn Monroe were released, new genealogy research from family history platform MyHeritage revealed that the actresses are actually related. According to the research, Johnson is Monroe's ninth cousin, three times removed.

Their shared ancestry dates back to Richard and Charity Tydings, English settlers who arrived in colonial Maryland in the mid-1600s and were among the earliest British colonists in what are now Anne Arundel and Baltimore counties.

The family tree later split through the couple's daughters: Monroe descends from their eldest daughter, Pretitia Tydings, while Johnson and her father, actor Don Johnson, descend from the youngest daughter, Mary Tydings.

"With a new film bringing Marilyn Monroe back into the spotlight, our research team wanted to see whether there was a deeper family connection," Naama Lanski, a researcher at MyHeritage, said.

"Discovering that Dakota Johnson and Marilyn Monroe are related turns the casting into a real-life family story."

The film Flesh Impact imagines an alternate reality in which Monroe survived to celebrate her 100th birthday, with Johnson portraying the screen legend at the height of her 1950s fame.

MyHeritage's research also uncovered notable figures in both actresses' family histories. Monroe's maternal line includes pioneering Kentucky frontiersman John Hogan, who reportedly joined scouting expeditions with Daniel Boone and helped establish an early ferry across the Kentucky River.

Johnson's paternal lineage traces back to Captain Robert Samuel Brashear, an early American settler recognized among the First Families of Tennessee.

Trader Joe's New $4 Frozen Pastry Is Already Winning Hearts

Thu, 07/30/2026 - 1:07pm

Trader Joe's freezer aisle is full of unexpected finds, but its newest limited-time bakery item may be one of the sweetest yet. While you won't find these Raspberry Filled Donuts in the bakery aisle, shoppers on Reddit say the frozen treat is well worth making room for in their carts.

A Bakery-Style Treat Hidden in the Freezer Aisle

Priced at $3.99 for a 6-ounce box, Trader Joe's Raspberry Filled Donuts are sold frozen and ready to enjoy after thawing in the refrigerator for about two hours.

According to Trader Joe's, the donuts draw inspiration from German Berliners, French beignets, and classic American donut holes, while adding a few distinctive touches of their own. Made exclusively for Trader Joe's in Belgium, the soft, round pastries get their vibrant pink color naturally from red beet powder. Inside, each donut is filled with a sweet-tart raspberry filling made with raspberries, raspberry purée, and fruit and vegetable juices.

Trader Joe's recommends pairing the donuts with a morning cup of coffee, afternoon tea, or even a scoop of ice cream for dessert.

Reddit Shoppers Say They're Already Planning To Buy Another Box

A recent post from Reddit user u/Acetylene in the r/traderjoes community introduced shoppers to the frozen donuts, prompting dozens of comments from people who had already tried them—or couldn't wait to pick up a box of their own. Initially skeptical that freezing might affect the texture, the Redditor said the donuts exceeded expectations, praising the balance between the sweet dough and tart raspberry filling. They added that they planned to buy another box before the limited-time treat disappears.

One Redditor, u/GreatRecipeCollctr29, wrote:

"These raspberry donuts are so good! Now I understand why Belgians love not too sweet baked goods but fillings gives it tart tad sweet flavor."

Another shopper, u/Xub543, admitted:

"I ate three in one sitting. Yep, they're good."

One of the strongest endorsements came from u/Whipstich-Pepperpot, who shared:

"Wow! These are amazing and phenomenal. Happily surprised at how delicious. Will absolutely buy again, and will get two boxes next time."

For anyone looking to satisfy a sweet tooth without turning on the oven, Trader Joe's latest freezer find appears to be making a strong first impression. And if the early Reddit reviews are any indication, grabbing more than one box while they're still available may not be a bad idea.

Stop Wearing Pale Pink: Why 'Safe' Nail Colors Can Actually Make Mature Hands Look Older

Thu, 07/30/2026 - 1:01pm

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Whether you love bold nail polish that draws attention to your nails or you're partial to softer hues that make a more subtle statement, the color you choose for your manicure says a lot about your personality and style preferences.

Manicure trends may come and go, but some colors, like pale pink, have certainly solidified their status as nail polish icons. However, one nail pro wants you to stop wearing pale pink on your fingernails, and she recently told Parade why "safe" nail colors can actually make mature hands look older.

We chatted with Vicki Ornella, a manicurist and global educator at Salon Perfect, and asked her to explain why women over 50 should consider ditching pale pinks next time they stop by the salon for a manicure.

Since pale pink isn't the only color that can potentially age your hands, Ornella reveals a few more shades that mature women should consider avoiding.

After reading her tips below, you may find yourself in need of some alternate go-to hues, so she has also shared the best nail colors that keep mature hands looking youthful and offers up some suggestions for the best expert-approved nail polishes to try right now.

Why 'Safe' Pale Pink Nail Polish Can Age Mature Hands

Pale pink nail polish is pretty, and it's a nice neutral hue. However, it can sometimes age hands.

"Pale pinks have cool undertones that can actually draw attention to blue veins, age spots and any yellowing in the nail bed," Ornella tells Parade.

As a result, you could be unintentionally making your hands look older when you choose this soft polish color.

3 Nail Colors That Keep Mature Hands Looking Youthful

If you decide to avoid pale pinks, Ornella says the following colors have "enough warmth and pigment to complement mature skin tones instead of washing them out."

"These shades flatter the skin by softening the appearance of veins and age spots rather than highlighting them," she tells Parade.

1. Dark berry

getty

"A rich, dark berry gives mature hands a little richness and depth without looking harsh. It draws the eye to the color of the polish itself rather than the hand, which is really the goal with any of these shades," Ornella says.

2. Bright corals and rich pinks

Getty

"A bright coral or rich pink adds a youthful pop of color that still flatters mature skin because of its warmth. It's a fun way to feel a little more playful without straying into shades that work against you," Ornella says.

3. Warm nudes

getty

"Warm nudes are one of my go-to picks because they mimic the natural nail bed but with a healthier, shinier and overall more even tone. They make the whole hand look put together without looking like you're trying too hard," Ornella says.

The Most Flattering Nail Shapes for Aging Fingers and Hands

Similar to nail polish colors, nail shapes also have the power to flatter your hands.

"The most flattering nail shapes for aging fingers and hands are oval and square oval (sometimes called squoval). Both shapes elongate the finger and create a softer, more polished line than a blunt square or overly pointed shape would," Ornella says.

3 More 'Worst' Nail Polish Colors for Mature Hands

Aside from pale pink, there are a few other colors that have a tendency of aging your hands if you're over 50.

1. Black

"Black can look beautiful for certain occasions, but on mature hands it can sometimes create too much contrast against the skin, making fine lines, veins and texture appear more noticeable," Ornella says. "If you love a darker manicure, a rich berry or deep burgundy offers the same sophistication with a much softer, more flattering effect."

2. Cool-toned greys

"Cool greys can leave mature hands looking washed out since they don't add warmth back into the complexion. Warmer greige (gray-beige) or taupe shades create a much healthier, more polished appearance while still giving you that chic neutral manicure," Ornella says.

3. Cool-toned purples

"Very cool-toned purples, particularly lighter lavenders and blue-based violets, can make mature skin appear dull because they emphasize cooler undertones in the hands. If you enjoy purple shades, opt for warmer plum or berry tones instead, which add richness and warmth," Ornella says.

"This vibrant coral instantly brings warmth to the hands and creates a fresh, youthful look. Coral is one of my favorite shades because it adds color without emphasizing signs of aging," Ornella says.

"Tropicool Punch is a bold, cheerful, bright pink that instantly livens up the hands. Because it's another warm, saturated shade, it flatters mature skin much better than cooler pinks will and it gives nails a fresh, modern feel," Ornella says.

3. China Glaze Moonlit Merlot (Rich Berry), $8.50

"A rich berry like Moonlit Merlot adds depth and elegance while creating contrast that feels sophisticated rather than harsh. It's a beautiful alternative to black for women over 50. Not to mention, this color is a favorite for autumn and winter," Ornella says.

Orlando Bloom Just Went Instagram Official With New Girlfriend in the Quietest Way Possible

Thu, 07/30/2026 - 1:00pm

Actor Orlando Bloom is off the market. The Pirates of the Caribbeanstar quietly went Instagram official with his new girlfriend, Swiss model Luisa Laemmel, earlier this week.

While the pair have hardly kept their budding relationship private, Bloom wasn’t quick to share info on the couple’s status publicly. That is, until he posted a very telling picture on Instagram.

Before you start scrolling through Bloom’s feed looking for a cute couple’s portrait…stop. You won’t find it. The actor went low-key with this reveal and buried the shot at the end of a series. And no, the carousel wasn’t filled with photos from the duo’s PDA-packed beach romp in Italy.

Instead, Bloom’s post features pics from a night with the iconic Andrea Bocelli where the actor was recognized by the Andrea Bocelli Foundation for his ongoing contributions as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and advocacy for education

View this post on Instagram

Along with pics of Bloom on stage and clips of Bocelli doing what he does best (of course, singing), the actor snuck in a shot of himself and presumably his girlfriend, Laemmel. The end-of-the-carousel photo features two shadows—one of a man and one of a woman—standing side by side with their heads touching.

While most of the comments applauded Orlando (and Andrea Bocelli), a few eagle-eyed fans caught the Instagram announcement, with one writing, “That last picture with Luisa”

Who is Orlando Bloom’s girlfriend?

Fans first noticed the new couple at the Super Bowl earlier this year. While rumors swirled and fans speculated that the pair were indeed dating, neither went public with an official announcement. In March, Bloom did include a single shot (in the middle of a longer carousel of photos), featuring a woman’s hand touching a purple flower. And while fans thought it could be Laemmel, the supposed couple was still playing coy. But now it seems like they’re ready to show their relationship off to the world.

Bloom and his new love did more than attend the Andrea Bocelli Foundation event while in Italy. The pair were spotted at Alpemare Beach in Forte dei Marmi enjoying a playful day of sand and surf. The paparazzi snapped plenty of pics as a very-coupled-up Bloom and Laemmel cuddled in the ocean.

Luisa Laemmel is a 28-year-old Swiss model. That makes 49-year-old Bloom almost 20 years her senior. Now based in New York City, Laemmel was raised in Zurich and started modeling in her teens. According to her Instagram bio, she also has a Bachelor of Science in psychology!

Helsinki Just Opened a Private ‘Sauna Island’ Where You Can Soak in Wood-Fired Hot Tubs and Swim in the Baltic Sea

Thu, 07/30/2026 - 12:42pm

Finland is famous for its sauna culture, and now visitors to Helsinki have a brand-new way to experience one of the country's most cherished traditions. A new retreat called Saunasaari, which translates to "Sauna Island," has officially opened to the public, offering Helsinki's first public smoke sauna experience on a secluded island in the Baltic Sea.

Located on the northern tip of Vasikkasaari in the Helsinki archipelago, Saunasaari is just a short ferry ride from Helsinki's bustling Market Square. But despite its proximity to the city center, the island feels like a world away. Surrounded by forest, sea views, and rocky shoreline, the destination offers visitors a peaceful escape that embraces Finland's slow-living philosophy.

The experience is designed around one of Finland's oldest wellness rituals: alternating between intense heat and refreshing cold. Guests can spend the experience moving between two different saunas, soaking in two wood-fired hot tubs, and cooling off with a plunge into the Baltic Sea before warming up again. For those who prefer to stay dry, the island also offers waterfront relaxation areas where visitors can unwind while taking in panoramic views of Helsinki's skyline across the water.

One of the biggest draws is the island's savusauna, or traditional smoke sauna—a rarity even in Finland today. Unlike modern electric or continuously heated wood-burning saunas, a smoke sauna is warmed by a fire inside a large stone stove for several hours before guests arrive. During the heating process, smoke fills the room without a chimney, coating the wooden interior with a distinctive aroma. Once the fire has burned down, the smoke is ventilated out, leaving behind gentle, radiant heat that sauna enthusiasts often describe as softer, more humid, and deeply relaxing.

Smoke saunas are considered one of Finland's oldest sauna traditions, dating back hundreds of years. Because they require significant preparation and expertise to operate, they're far less common than modern saunas, making the opportunity to experience one especially memorable for travelers.

View this post on Instagram

The experience isn't just about saunas, either. Guests can also enjoy an open-fire dinner served outdoors, adding another layer to the immersive Nordic experience. Combining locally inspired cuisine with waterfront views and traditional wellness rituals, the retreat encourages visitors to slow down and embrace the Finnish concept of balance and connection with nature.

Helsinki has long been considered one of the world's great sauna cities, home to dozens of public saunas ranging from sleek waterfront complexes to historic neighborhood bathhouses. Saunasaari adds an entirely new dimension by transporting visitors to a private island where nature takes center stage.

Sammy Hagar’s Stunning Daughters Had the Perfect Response to a Tour Guide Playing Their Dad’s Music

Thu, 07/30/2026 - 12:41pm

The daughters of former Van Halen lead singer Sammy Hagar had a wild moment when they notified their tour guides that the music they were blasting was their father's.

Hagar, 78, served as the second lead singer of the iconic rock band Van Halen. But it's his stunning blonde daughters, Kama and Samantha Hagar, who stole the spotlight recently. While on vacation in Croatia, the dynamic sister duo sped across the ocean on a boat as they realized the tour guides were blasting music sung by their dad. While they subtly notified the tour guide it was their dad on the mic, he responded, "You're lying."

"I mean, we're not famous!" the sisters replied.

"this was one of the most out of body experiences I think we’ve both had in a long time 😂," the duo captioned their hilarious video.

Kama Hagar's Touching Post For Her Dad's Birthday

Last year, Kama took to Instagram to honor her dad on his 78th birthday. While the post could have been a typical birthday one, it actually delved into the rocker's tumultuous upbringing.

Sharing that her dad "blows my mind every day how magnetic, successful, energetic + boundless he is," Kama noted that Sammy grew up in difficult circumstances.

"He’s constantly asked for his secret to it all. If you don’t already know, this man came from absolutely nothing: sleeping in cars + chicken coops in a broken family. Didn’t graduate high school. Slept on the floor with his baby and wife to follow his dream to play music," Kama wrote.

She went on to say that success "means nothing" if your soul isn't aligned, and pointed out 3 things she believes all successful and fulfilled people have.

"1. Brave. 2. Authentic. 3. Believe in themselves," she noted.
