Christopher Knight shared his take on why The Brady Bunch still resonates with viewers more than 50 years after its original run. During a May 2026 appearance on the Carrigan & Company podcast, the former sitcom star explained that the classic ABC series still has a lasting impact because no other family-themed show ever took its place.

“It was many years ago now that I rationalized that this thing has grown beyond its intent,” Knight, 68, revealed of The Brady Bunch. “It was entertainment. But along the way, it had become something more than that."

"It's become clearer over time that what that is, it’s become a representation of family, at least as we see it in the United States. And everybody's a Brady," Knight added. "And if they didn't grow up like the Bradys, having the Bradys as an aspirational aspect of something, it represents what they would have as a family, given the choice…. if they could correct for their family, it would be a Brady-like life. And it's very simple. I mean, it was just a story. I mean, it could have been a cartoon. It was that simple.”

Knight noted that The Brady Bunch was very true in its storytelling about family and “making a family work.” “There's so little representation of it for us,”  he said, adding that the show supplied a "missing component" for many viewers.

“And that's the reason that it still manages to be in the forefront of people's minds 50, some nearly 60 years later, because there hasn't been something to displace it as the new modern version of a functional family,” Knight shared. “It's a lot more fun, probably funnier to tell a story of a dysfunctional family. So there's very few representations of a true working family.”

The Brady Bunch starred Knight, Robert Reed, Florence Henderson, Barry Williams, Maureen McCormick, Eve Plumb, Mike Lookinland, Susan Olsen, and Ann B. Davis. The series aired 117 episodes on ABC from 1969 to 1974, then moved on to heavy syndication. The Brady Bunch has never been off the air.

Knight’s TV brother Williams recently appeared on The Magnificent Others With Billy Corgan, where he made similar comments about the show’s endless appeal.

“I think that goes back to relatability and the, you know, the morality of the show," Williams said. “And the lessons, they were light, but they're also timeless, and they were, you know, common sense kind of morality."

"It's just, things like using exact words or being honest or authentic," he continued. "Being able to go to dad and have him listen to you. I think that those morals and to kind of wrap it up at the end of the episode and start another adventure the next week, those kinds of things are safe. And they can be internalized in a way that doesn't go away because it's reinforced. And if that's not going on in your life, want it to happen in your life.”

Brady Bunch creator Sherwood Schwartz once used the same logic as he explained the show’s long-term appeal.

“I think that people growing up might see a family that they would try to emulate because they have deficiencies in their own family,” Schwartz told Retrocrush in 2003. “They don’t talk to their parents as well as the Brady kids talk to theirs. If they’re similar, they have something in common. Either way, families tune in to see The Brady Bunch. We just wanted an entertaining show that had certain moral qualities.”

You can throw them straight onto the grill or griddle from frozen, which makes feeding a crowd feel way less stressful.

Ahead of Memorial Day weekend, the unofficial kickoff to summer grilling season, I decided to put some of the most popular frozen burgers to the test. From classic Angus beef patties to grass-fed options, store-brand staples and even a couple non-beef burgers, I wanted to know about the best frozen burgers that are actually worth keeping on hand for cookouts all season long. Some tasted surprisingly fresh and beefy, while others leaned overly salty, chewy or greasy.

After trying 12 different frozen burgers back-to-back, I found a few standout options I’ll absolutely be stocking in my freezer moving forward. Whether you’re looking for a classic backyard burger, a better-for-you grass-fed option or something to keep on hand for pescatarians and vegetarians at the BBQ, there’s definitely a frozen burger here worth grabbing.

How I Chose the Frozen Burgers

For this test, I focused on frozen burgers that feel like they actually live in people’s home freezers. I looked for a mix of popular grocery store brands, widely available national favorites and a few premium options that have built a loyal following.

I also wanted the lineup to reflect the way people actually shop, so the list includes everything from budget-friendly store brands to grass-fed beef burgers and plant-based options.

How I Tested the Frozen Burgers

To keep the test as fair and consistent as possible, I cooked every burger on a griddle. That ensured each patty got the same level of heat, sear and attention throughout the cooking process.

I evaluated each burger based on texture, beef flavor, seasoning, shrinkage, crust development and overall quality. I also considered which burgers I’d realistically want to keep stocked in my freezer throughout grilling season.

12. Marketside 100% Angus Beef Burgers

These burgers I got from Walmart developed a nice sear on the griddle, but the overall flavor and texture didn’t quite work for me. They were noticeably chewy and tasted very fatty throughout, which overpowered the actual beef flavor.

I also found them a bit too salty compared to the rest of the burgers in the test. If you like a richer, fattier diner-style burger, these might work for you, but they ultimately ranked last for me.

11. Lidl Angus Beef Unseasoned Burgers

There wasn’t anything particularly wrong with these burgers, but they didn’t stand out in such a crowded lineup. The flavor was solid, the texture was decent and overall it felt like a perfectly average frozen burger experience.

They cooked well and tasted good enough for an easy weeknight dinner. Still, compared to some of the stronger options in this ranking, these were a little forgettable.

10. Stop & Shop All Natural Ground Beef Patties

These burgers had a really pleasant texture and a nice chew that made them feel satisfying and hearty. The flavor was balanced and classic without being overly salty or greasy.

While they didn’t necessarily have one huge standout quality, they felt dependable and easy to serve to a crowd. This is the kind of frozen burger I could see a lot of families happily keeping stocked all summer long.

9. Dr. Praeger's Plant Based Perfect Burger

As far as plant-based burgers go, this one impressed me. It cooked up beautifully with a surprisingly great texture that felt much more substantial and “burger-like” than some veggie burgers tend to be. I also appreciated that it didn’t rely entirely on toppings or condiments to make it enjoyable.

If you’re looking for a solid meatless burger option to keep on hand for guests, this is an easy freezer staple.

8. BUBBA burger Original Bubba Burgers

These were much better than I expected them to be. They had a really nice classic burger flavor, a satisfying texture and great seasoning right out of the box. They also browned beautifully on the griddle, and I genuinely think the signature holes in the patties may help them cook more evenly.

If you’re someone who wants a reliable frozen burger you can find almost anywhere, this is an incredibly solid choice.

7. Thrive Market Organic Ground Beef Patties

These patties were a bit thinner than some of the others in the lineup, but I actually really enjoyed that about them. They cooked quickly and evenly while still delivering great flavor and texture. The overall quality tasted noticeably fresh and clean. These would be especially great for fast weeknight dinners or casual summer lunches when you want burgers on the table quickly.

6. Safe Catch Tuna Burgers

As one of only two non-beef burgers in this test, these really surprised me in the best way. The tuna flavor tasted fresh and not overly processed, and the seasoning was balanced really nicely throughout. I also love that Safe Catch is known for testing its tuna for mercury levels, which makes these feel especially thoughtful for families.

I’d absolutely keep these on hand for pescatarian guests during summer BBQ season and also maybe as a simple, easy protein to chop over a salad. Great product.

5. ALDI Black Angus Unseasoned Beef Patties

Aldi frozen burgers are having a viral moment online and I have to agree! For a budget-friendly frozen burger, these really delivered. The texture was slightly chewy but still satisfying, and they developed an excellent sear on the griddle.

Since they’re unseasoned, I added salt after cooking, which gave me more control over the final flavor. These are a great option for anyone looking for a classic, no-frills burger at a really good price point.

4. Wegmans Seasoned Angus Beef Burgers

These burgers stood out because they were one of the largest patties in the entire test. Despite their size, they didn’t shrink too much during cooking and maintained a really great classic burger flavor. The texture was excellent and felt juicy without becoming greasy.

I also loved that they come packaged in a zip-top freezer bag, which makes them especially practical for storing throughout grilling season.

3. Whole Foods Market Organic 100% Grass-Fed Beef Burgers

If you love a deeply beefy burger flavor, these are absolutely worth trying. The grass-fed beef flavor came through strongly without tasting gamey, and the burgers cooked evenly with a beautiful crust.

They did shrink more than some of the other patties in the test, but they started out larger, so it balanced out in the end. Overall, these tasted like a genuinely high-quality burger I’d happily buy again.

2. Omaha Steaks Pure Ground Beef Tenderloin Burgers

These burgers tasted incredibly premium from the very first bite. They developed a deeply flavorful crust on the griddle while still maintaining a juicy interior and a texture that leaned more steak-like than typical frozen burgers.

The beef flavor felt rich, clean and high quality throughout. These are the kind of burgers I’d happily keep stocked for backyard BBQs and summer entertaining.

These burgers completely won me over. They had an unbelievably buttery flavor while still holding onto everything you want from a great burger, including a rich beefy taste and satisfying texture. The quality was obvious immediately, and every bite felt balanced and flavorful without being too heavy or greasy.

In 1977, a country rock anthem dubbed an “afterthought” by its singer defied expectations and surged its way up the charts, proving that even the most unassuming tracks can become a defining hit of their era.

Linda Ronstadt's "It's So Easy" peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 in December 1977. The song would remain a chart mainstay for 18 weeks.

The Buddy Holly cover took just around two months to reach its peak chart position. It hailed from her LP Simple Dreams, her eighth studio album.

The watershed record contained some of Ronstadt's best-known hits, including her covers of the Rolling Stones' "Tumblin' Dice" and Roy Orbison's "Blue Bayou." However, including the Holly song was reportedly a last-minute decision to provide her a standout concert moment.

Ronstadt told Pop Matters in 2017 that the song was "an afterthought that we threw in.”

“We needed an up-tempo song because we had so many ballads. The songs like ‘Maybe I’m Right’ didn’t go over in those arenas. Anything with nuance or subtlety got lost. I did ‘Sorrow Lives Here’ as an encore because I loved it so much and I wanted to sing it every night. If I’d put it in the middle of the show, I probably would have emptied the place!”

The song did even better than Ronstadt's first Holly cover, “That’ll Be the Day” from her LP Hasten Down the Wind. Her version peaked at No. 11 in 1976.

The singer explained that the appeal of "It's So Easy" came from its roots. “It’s Texarkana,” she said. “It’s that area of the country (Texas / Arkansas). I grew up listening to that [she hails from Arkansas]. It’s kind of country, it’s kind of rock ‘n’ roll, it’s kind of blues. It’s a little bit of all those things.”

The LP catapulted Ronstadt into the spotlight as one of the most commanding women in late-’70s music. She soon graced the covers of Rolling Stone, People, Time, and Circus, cementing her status as a cultural force in the industry.

I have always had hips and a butt, so as you can imagine, jeans have never been my favorite pants to reach for. Especially since I became a pre-teen and teenager in the 2000s and early 2010s, it was not the best time to be a girl over a size 2. Fitting rooms at the mall were not my friend, and jeans were one of the biggest offenders in those dark rooms. But still, since skinny jeans were in style—and a wider range of comfy yet stylish pants weren’t available just yet—I, of course, owned jeans. However, I never owned a pair from Abercrombie & Fitch, nor did I think I ever would. 

But as some time has gone by, more mid-size and plus-size content creators started making videos featuring Abercrombie jeans on my feed in the last few years. I found myself getting curious. The jeans looked amazing on them, and they had bigger stomachs, hips and butts, as I did. Could Abercrombie's Curve Love jeans work for me? 

That’s another great invention that has changed the jean game for women like me. Curvy jeans! They have been a godsend since I was a young adult, opening up more options for me and offering jeans that were meant to fit my body better. Sure, I could get regular denim in my size, but curvy jeans are meant to work with wider hips and butts and reduce the chance of a waistband gap when you sit. 

The point of trying out Abercrombie & Fitch jeans is that I had a preconceived idea about them from growing up in the early 2000s era, where Abercrombie and Hollister (and honestly, most brands) didn’t have bigger sizes and basically discouraged anyone with a butt and hips to shop there because of it. Times have changed (though not astronomically), and I've been itching to try out their Curve Love section because they seem to fit other women with a body like mine. And as an adult with more options, I do own more jeans than younger me would have ever thought possible (or would have wanted, to be honest).

So I took the plunge and tried four Abercrombie Curve Love jeans, and have some honest reviews below. From sizing issues to how they feel when worn out, I share my full experience below.

What Are Abercrombie's Curve Love Jeans?

First launched in 2021 as part of their "Denim Your Way" initiative, Abercrombie's Curve Love jeans have been going strong for the last five years.

Here's how Abercrombie's site describes this denim, which is available in sizes sizes 23-38: “Our signature Curve Love fit is designed with an additional 2 [inches] through the hip and thigh for a proportional waist-to-hip ratio that eliminates waist-gap.”

That was exciting to read, and why I wanted to try these out!

My Testing Process

I reached out to Abercrombie & Fitch for a couple of samples, but bought others myself. I prefer high-rise denim, but I’m open to different styles, from wide-leg to straight-leg jeans. Though I did stay away from skinny jeans because I’m never going back to those after wearing them a lot in the early 2010s.

So, after searching on their site and app, narrowing my search to high-rise jeans in my size—which, based on trial and error before, along with their size chart, was about a 36—I settled on four choices. I chose different washes, and I also like experimental jeans, along with unique hems and waistbands. So I went with one raw hem and a two-toned jean as well. I'm also a pretty short woman (with a long torso and tiny legs), so I made sure to only choose the "short" length inseam as well.

While I wore some jeans outside more than others, I did wear each pair of jeans out at least once for an evening or a day. I tried on some of these jeans in a size 35, and others in a 37, and decided that 36 was the best size for me at A&F. I wanted to get all of them in that size, or as close as I could, to really get a feel for their consistency. There was one pair of jeans that I really wanted to try that didn't come in a size 36, and that's noted below. But even with that one outlier, my trying on the smaller and bigger sizes—while also having three out of the four in a size 36—still gave me a good idea of their size consistency (or lack thereof).

4 Abercrombie & Fitch Curve Love Jeans Ranked Least to Most Favorite—Review

I've ranked the four jeans below from the pair I won't reach for a ton to the pair I love the most.

4. Curve Love High Rise 90s Relaxed Raw Hem Jean, $90

Starting off with the pair I liked the least, this pair was a lot tighter than the rest. Even though that meant they looked nice on my butt, it also meant they were tighter in the waist and crotch, and showed a bit more of my tummy instead of “concealing” it or working with it. They did hug my hips nicely and didn't visibly look too tight (like unflatteringly so), so I did still wear them to a family lunch because they looked really nice with a fitted gray sweater-shirt.

I am personally against the concept of “stand-up jeans,” and these aren’t too much in that category for me to get rid of them, but they are more uncomfortable when I sit down than the rest of the ones I tried. But the raw hem and overall stylish look to these will keep them in my drawer, for whenever I need a chic denim look.

3. Ultra High Rise 90s Straight Jean, $26.97 (originally $90)

The Curve Love version that I have is no longer available in this color, but they have a two-toned color in the straight size available.

Partly because I really wanted to try these pants out, thanks to the two-tone style, and partly because they didn't have a size 36, I went up to a size 37 for these jeans. I also got these after I had received the two darker, tighter jeans that were also a 36, so I felt good about taking my chances with a bigger size. They were quite loose, and considering they're made from the same material as the raw hem jeans above—and these are straight-leg jeans as opposed to the relaxed fit of the too-tight size 36 above—the massive size difference between a 36 and a 37 is a bit disheartening. Size inconsistency is something I've seen at a lot of stores, and I'm a bit frustrated with it here, because it’s like I’m halfway between sizes or something. Nothing fit me like a glove for my body type.

So, they’re super big in the waist, making it not as flattering, but the looseness does hide a bit of my tummy from the front. It's also not super tight on the butt, so it’s not that complimentary there either. However, loose jeans are in style, so if I have an outfit that I want to use them for, these work for that vibe. Plus, because they’re loose, they’re great comfort jeans or casual jeans. It is still really stylish with the two-tone color as well.

The length is also great for a short girl like me. I wonder if there’s a way to tailor or take in the waist and hips. Or rather, the better question is how much that would cost. Because if I do that, these might be my favorite pair of jeans that could be dressed up or down. And that way it might be worth the cost.

2. Curve Love High Rise Wide Leg Jean, $90

These are very thin jeans; they almost feel kind of airy, which I actually really like, especially as we’re going into spring and summer. They hug my butt nicely, but the bottom of it (the top of the back of my thighs) definitely loses its shape a bit. I like wide-leg jeans that aren’t as wide in the hips and upper thighs, like these, so they do give less of a flattering look than some other wide-leg jeans that I’ve owned, and they’re a little tighter on top around the waist, too. 

But they are a lovely color, and they feel really nice in quality. The longer I was in them, the more I started to like them, too. They’re not as comfortable to bend over or sit down in, but they’re a bit easier than the previous dark raw hem ones. And they can absolutely be dressed up since they look so nice. So, for the styling possibilities, this comes in second place for me.

These are the ones I’ve had the longest and worn the most, and safe to say I really like them. They’re meant to be “relaxed,” so they’re looser on the butt, making them not the most butt-hugging ones, but I still got compliments from my fiancée on them in that area the first time I tried them on. So they’re not frumpy despite being looser.

These were ultimately my favorite: they’re very comfortable, and therefore super versatile since they can be worn to nicer occasions, while also being a good weekend, casual jean. But they’re not the “nicest” of the bunch, so they can’t be dressed up too much (at least, not in my eyes, but a better stylist than I can probably do wonders with these).

Final Thoughts

Ultimately, the worst and my most frustrating thing about these was the sizing inconsistency.

The first pair I ordered and ever tried on were the Curve Love High Rise 90s Relaxed Jean in the medium wash (I ranked them #1). I initially ordered a 37 because I had no idea where to start, and those were way too big, which is why the size I kept was a 36 short. And because these were still a little loose, I even tried the two darker jeans in a size 35, which was way too small. So I ended up going back to a size 36 for those two: the Curve Love High Rise 90s Relaxed Raw Hem Jean(#4) and the Curve Love High Rise Wide Leg Jean (#2). But as I said above, they're still tight in the belly area. But I know that if I went up to a 37, the looseness in those jeans—that I find doesn't complement my figure well—will be even more pronounced.

I know a lot of it has to do with maybe the way the fabric is made up. But considering the two-toned jeans are the same materials as the dark raw hem ones that I ranked last, it’s like, what gives? Not some of these jeans, that’s what. 

Jokes aside, the inconsistency continued throughout, so it's a little disheartening that I can't go in-store and find jeans in my size to try on before I buy them. But I am happy they're available in sizes that fit me online; there's just a lot of back and forth, trial and error to find something I can keep.

With all of that said, though, they're really well-made jeans, and ones that I will definitely be keeping and wearing out. I do want to keep trying with their denim to find my favorite pair they make, because when they're comfy, they're great. And if I can find ones that feel lovely and make my butt really pop, I'll be a happy camper.

Throughout my adult life, that's all I've been searching for when it comes to jeans: denim that looks good and doesn't feel like I'm squeezing out of them or cutting my insides as I sit down. I've found some good jeans here and there that fit that description, and Abercrombie & Fitch is up there in terms of what I did find. I also see a lot of potential in trying future jeans from them, too.

At the FORMULA 1 GRAND PRIX DU CANADA 2026, F1 fans can spot a new Disney x F1 ACADEMY Minnie Mouse & Daisy Duck-inspired show car featured within the Disney x F1 “Fuel the Magic” Fan activation area. And if you stick around long enough, you may even spot Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck taking in the excitement of the race. There will also be new apparel and accessories around the Montreal race and F1 ACADEMY trackside.

Few country love songs captured the aching romance of the 1980s quite like this unforgettable 1984 hit from a trailblazing mother-daughter duo.

The Judds reached the top of the Billboard country music charts with “Why Not Me,” a heartfelt love song that poses a direct, aching question to a distant lover. The track became one of Naomi and Wynonna Judd's signature hits, showcasing the duo’s blend of tight harmonies and emotional storytelling that helped define their rise in the country music world.

"Why Not Me" hit No. 1 in December 1984 and remained on the charts for a whopping 22 weeks in total. The song rose was the singing group's second No. 1 in less than a year; "Mama He's Crazy" held the same position in August.

Holler placed "Why Not Me" at the second position on its Best 80s Country Songs list. The outlet wrote, "Its scrappy beat, deft strings and enticing harmonies, would mark the beginning, the hit opening the floodgates for many more Judd classics to rush in and define a decade."

The song was written by Harlan Howard, Sonny Throckmorton, and Brent Maher. According to American Songwriter, the trio crafted the call-and-response structure specifically to highlight Naomi and Wynonna’s distinct personalities and vocal chemistry.

"Why Not Me" paints a picture of a lover who has seen the world and keeps looking far and wide for romance. The Judds push back, pointing out that he may be overlooking someone back home who has been longing for him all along.

Country Universe reports that the song was originally named "How 'Bout Me," a title Throckmorton conceived after coming up with the song's melody. Howard changed the title to its iconic question, but he wasn't sure the title would stick.

The outlet reported that Howard believed an average title wouldn’t land with listeners unless the song itself were truly exceptional. He reportedly felt that this particular track had the strength and emotional pull to make listeners remember it regardless of its name.

The song hails from the duo's first full-length LP of the same name. It was pushed it to Gold status on the strength of the hits "Why Not Me," "Girls Night Out," and "Love is Alive."

The Judds would subsequently hit No. 1 a remarkable 14 times throughout their career. The mother-daughter singing act ceased performing in 1991 after Naomi was diagnosed with hepatitis. Wynonna continued to perform as a solo artist.

In 1982, Rainbow broke through the Top 40 with “Stone Cold.” Written by Deep Purple legends Ritchie Blackmore and Roger Glover, and singer Joe Lynn Turner, the song about heartbreak appeared on the band’s album Straight Between the Eyes, peaking at No. 40 on the Billboard Hot 100 on June 19, 1982. It became the British American rock band’s only U.S. Top 40 hit.

Metal Talk ranked “Stone Cold” among Rainbow’s greatest songs, going so far as to claim that it “may have been the original prototype power ballad.”

“Stone Cold” showcased the vocals of Turner, Rainbow's third lead singer after Ronnie James Dio and Graham Bonnet, who fronted the band from 1980 to 1984. The song got a major boost from heavy rotation on MTV, thanks to an early music video that featured Turner in a maze of mirrors and mannequins.

In the book The Other Side of the Rainbow, Turner admitted the band didn’t know “what they were doing” when they made the music video. “I’m walking around with google eyes, in a leather jacket, putting up the collar, and walking around in these mirrors,” he recalled, per Classic Rock. “But it did what it did for us, so no harm done.”

Ritchie Blackmore wanted a hit

As part of the legendary rock band Deep Purple, Blackmore was well known for hard rock classics such as “Smoke on the Water,” “Hush,” and “Highway Star.” But he was looking for more commercial success, so he created Rainbow as an offshoot band.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Turner said that as a Rainbow newcomer, it was hard for him to win over fans—at first. “My theory is that fans find it difficult to reconcile what they’re used to hearing with something new,” he said. “I don’t care who you replace or whatever happens. If they don’t hear that old familiar, they’re going to crucify you. I got crucified several times.”

But Blackmore’s mission was clear. “He wanted some chart action,” Turner revealed. “At this point in time, he wanted a more commercial, accessible approach. …So yes, getting on the charts was sort of a redemption for him."

Turner also shared the backstory on “Stone Cold,” which was started when Rainbow was on the road.

“We were out on the first tour, and Roger had been left by his wife for a famous race car driver,” Turner told Classic Rock Revisited. “He was very, very broken up over it. I looked in his room and I said, ‘Rog, let’s go to the bar.’ He looked up at me, and he had crying eyes. I said, ‘What happened?’ He just looked at me and said, ‘She just stone cold up and left me.’ I knew there was a song there. I ran back to my room and started writing the lyrics. It didn’t come to fruition until we got the music.”
